Speaker 1 (00:41):
Hey, welcome to Cruise okpe about Mango, and we're back
with part two of Inevitable Kenny Omega Versu Cazuska Okada,
their epic four match series and one episode two, so
only two more ago, but tonight it's a sixty minute
fucking classic.
Speaker 2 (00:58):
I cannot wait for this match. I have been waiting
all week to do this. It has been a struggle
not to just like, come on and do it, because honestly,
I didn't want to wait.
Speaker 3 (01:11):
No, no, you definitely didn't. I don't blame you there.
Speaker 1 (01:15):
I'd been looking forward to watching this all week as well,
especially knowing exactly what we're getting into. So I'm gonna
queue it up here in a minute, right now, I
see we have a few people in the lobby, so
if you're ready to watch it either on New Japan
or that Tokyo website some people know about, we're gonna
que it up.
Speaker 3 (01:34):
There's a little bit of an intro here, so I'll
try to give you some backstory.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Well we queue up, so without further ad zoo, we're
gonna give it a queue.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
So here we go.
Speaker 1 (01:46):
So obviously, as we know last time, Kenny Omega and
Okada fought to a forty five plus minute battle where
Okada came out on top.
Speaker 3 (01:54):
And this has really been Omega's white whale to you
that cliche.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
This has been what he wants and Okada recognizes that,
and he's called out Omega. Because in New Japan, the
champions typically call out the challengers. The challenger does don't
really call their shots. It's more of an honor thing
where they will call out so and they feel as
worthy to defend that belt against. So Okada really felt
(02:23):
like he didn't have any challengers. He was kind of
slipping into some arrogance here and called out Kenny Omega
to face met Dominion, and that's what sets us up
now Dominion twenty seventeen. Also what's interesting is this is
really the rise of the Cleaner. This is really the
rise of the Bullet Club because you have the Bullet
Club now has lost Finn Balor in the first years
of it. Aj Styles was just kicked out the year before.
(02:45):
There's been some discension going on. You have the elite
that's formed, they've been kind of taking over while the
Bullet Club feel like they're left behind. So there's been
a lot of tension in this match, because Kenny's focus
right now is that ISWGP title. That's all he wants.
He wants to be the top guy. He wants to
be the top guyjin.
Speaker 2 (03:06):
Our co host, absolutely.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
Hey Smoky, how you doing, Hello, Rachel? And I love
these series just because of the story behind it.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
I mean, you have Kenny who when he first was
in New Japan, he was this happy, go lucky guy
wearing tights, blonde hair, and then when he officially joined
Bullet Club and kind of came in, he was brought
in silver hair, glasses, leather.
Speaker 3 (03:39):
Jacket, more of a prickish heel.
Speaker 1 (03:41):
He became the cleaner to clean up New Japan, to
clean up the Super Junior's division. That wasn't until he
won the g one and he faced Okada at Russell
Kingdom eleven, and now it's he got a taste and
he wants it. He knows he can beat Okada, and
he told Okada, I'm not the same as I was
back six months ago we faced the first time.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
His hair is so long, well, I guess some of it.
His haircuts always been interesting. It's not a mullet. It's
not not a mullet.
Speaker 1 (04:10):
It's it's the cleaner, so what we're gonna call it.
Speaker 3 (04:15):
I also love good.
Speaker 2 (04:16):
That championship is just so pretty. I want to like
know how heavy it is?
Speaker 3 (04:22):
Probably pretty heavy.
Speaker 2 (04:24):
It reminds me of the ones that FTR had No
not at all, just because you feel like the weight
looking it looks heavy like the one vi Kingo.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
Has a little more stay Yeah, that one Vikingos was
pretty heavy. So this is obviously kind of throwing out
the challenge and just the fact that it happened again
at Dominion No you figure five and a half six
months later we're getting this match, you know, the twenty
seventeen the second time they're meeting.
Speaker 3 (04:51):
Kenny's trying to beat Okattie.
Speaker 1 (04:53):
He's trying to get that title, and he's he's pretty
much been sacrificing his leadership and that's you know, Tongaloa
is getting mad. Everyone in the book club's been getting
getting mad and Kenny and Kenny also just got some
new members of the book club, you know, Cody Rhodes
decided to join the book Club earlier in the year,
so there's already kind of some power struggles going on.
It leads up to that story. So we get to
(05:14):
part three we kind of talked more about the dissension,
but stay tuned for tonight because a lot of seeds
are planted for the twenty eighteen book Club Silver War,
which pretty much tore the elade apart and then kind
of brought them together.
Speaker 2 (05:26):
I want to go back to the lineage of this
after because that was something I didn't notice until right now.
What's that the lineage of this title.
Speaker 3 (05:35):
It's one of the most historic titles.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
So yeah, can I imagine you have a Noki, you
have a ton of hashi Okada, you have all these
legends Liger, I mean, it's new Japan has obviously been
around a very long time, and the lineage that title
has been a very long time. And unfortunately when they
merge the inter Continental title with that title and then
(05:58):
turned it into the Butterfly.
Speaker 3 (05:59):
But again hero there.
Speaker 1 (06:02):
So obviously he's flanked by the Bucks here because you know,
the elite that's been his focus, and that was kind
of the first part of the downfall of the Bullet Club.
The division is you have the elite focusing on themselves.
But Matt and Nick Jackson are tearing up in the
tag team division. They're winning trios or six Man titles together.
Kenny wants the top prize. He wants to beat Okada.
(06:24):
Okata and tana Hashi have had this epic rivalry in
New Japan, and Ocatta has kind of proven himself as
the next top Dog, and Kenny says, why would it
be the next top Dog. So just the story going
into this alone is phenomenal. And again this is only
the second time they face it. It's only going to
increase from here. Obviously it's not as much spectacle as
(06:45):
Russell Kingdom with the gear the entrance, but he still
has that heel swagger.
Speaker 2 (06:50):
I enjoyed the presentation of the area where they are.
I'm not sure if there's the stabium.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Ariga what it is so so alcohol.
Speaker 2 (06:57):
Well, they have the screens above the ring that were
showcasing different like metal mechanisms.
Speaker 3 (07:04):
I don't it's basically his look.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
It's his the cleaner and all this bone Soldier, all
the different Titan trons. That's one big thing. Kenny and
the Bucks and Cody. They brought aesthetics to the book club.
They changed that bold soldier logo. I really enjoyed how
they tweaked it. You had the you know, iconic Nightmare
(07:29):
Factory only with the gold hair. You had the Bucks
super Kick Party. I mean Adam Cole would get one.
You had all kinds of awesome designs, and they put
it in their Titan trons too. So now remember this
is about a year before all in this is this
is still pretty peak Kenny Omega. It's peak Okada. No
Kata is still the man. But I wanted to see
(07:50):
if you noticed something about Okata in this match, because
one thing I'll always remember, Oh, this.
Speaker 3 (07:54):
Match is kind of the Dynamics shifting. I want to
see if you notice.
Speaker 1 (07:59):
But this time is that pretty epic for him? Always
has an awesome entrance. You see why aw brought those
lights in kind of homage. So now we're finally getting
to the match. Here Ocot is coming out beautiful robe.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
Too sweet, you know?
Speaker 1 (08:28):
Is he talking about a hundred thusands of sports cars.
That's why the Bucks bottom of Car and Dynamite Bullet
Club absolutely has some of the best shirts. I think
I think I had a whole closet we talke about
last Upsdy'm always like I think Emily had a whole
wardrobe after she met me, because she had all my
Bullet Club shirts.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Yeah, and then we'd go to Hot Topic and I'd
find them on sale and I would just buy them
for myself as well. Before I had my own, I
was definitely stealing his not even knowing what they were.
Like twenty seventeen eighteen, I was like taking.
Speaker 1 (08:59):
All of those all time favor will always be you.
Having Steven and Mel's Bullet Club shirt going, it kind
of reminds me of Green Arrow, and I'm like.
Speaker 3 (09:06):
Because it is Green Arrow.
Speaker 1 (09:12):
See obviously they talk about because you know, tana Hashi
and Okada had one of the most epic rivalries, think
of like.
Speaker 3 (09:18):
A Randyorton John Cena kind of rivalry in New Japan.
It constant back and forth.
Speaker 1 (09:25):
That's why I'm hoping with Tana Hashee's retirement that maybe
Okada has one more match with him, because I feel
like it's it's got to be a thing. I love
the Rainmaker robes. I love that he brings them back
for pay per views and interests because there's something special
about those Him and Osprey just their gear is always.
Speaker 2 (09:45):
On point, it really is, and it's the work that
has to go into these is incredible.
Speaker 1 (10:02):
You know, the crowd's already ready for this because everything
surrounding this was Can this live up to the hype?
Can it live up to the hype of the first one?
And it's a tough bar to set. Yes, Emily misses
the tassels with the bucks too.
Speaker 2 (10:15):
I really do.
Speaker 1 (10:17):
Look at red shoes again. Your favorite commentary too, Don Kallas. Now,
notice only the Bucks came out with Kenny.
Speaker 3 (10:26):
Just keep that. It's funny. I feel like we can
do a whole episode just.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
On chaos and bullet club and bullet club dissension, just
because there's so much story and again just his arrogance,
like he's focusing. He wants to take that title and
be the top guy.
Speaker 3 (10:50):
That beautiful belt.
Speaker 1 (10:51):
He wants his name added that plate under Ocada. Like
you said, the lineage of the history behind that belt.
I pose this so hard, doesn't need Jeff, like those
robes are always just so like.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
And like the lights hit him a certain way. It's
just the glitz and the glam. He looks like a
superstar with him.
Speaker 2 (11:22):
I like those trunks as well.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
Jeff agrees with me. Version four v four that's version.
Speaker 2 (11:29):
Of that title commentary.
Speaker 1 (11:32):
Yes, goat himself. Jusian Liger, who we also got to
meet with Smoky and Rachel. Awesome moment there. Oh the
bell rang. Let's go Okata Omega two.
Speaker 3 (12:00):
Now listen carefully with Don just said he hits the
One Wing Angel. It's over. Listen to how protected.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
Listen how protected the One Wing Angel is, even back
in twenty seventeen, I believe too, Jeff. I think Will
got the inspiration from Okada because you had Flair who
had his iconic robes, and Okada made his own version
of the Flair robe, and I think it's just that
wrestling turtion. But yeah, Will definitely got the pop and
circumstance of that robe from Mocada for sure. Again, I
(12:33):
love the continuous shots that they have on the camera,
keeping it on the ring.
Speaker 3 (12:41):
Like it was super nice.
Speaker 1 (12:43):
Ligo was very genuine, and I just loved how he
like bear hugged cam made me smile.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
Okay, stupid question. Is the ring up higher or are
they all just like leaning onto it like that.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
It's just a respect thing.
Speaker 4 (13:00):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
So one of the first things you noticed about Kenny
kind of going for the legs, kind of working that
knee of Okada Okada. One of the best things he
has is that drop kick, So he's going to work
those legs. He wants to keep him grounded. His brain
maker is gonna come from the power in his legs,
his dropkick, his most of his offense is going to
come from his legs and his base. So that's what
Kenny's kind of trying to do right now, is work
(13:45):
that base, work those legs. Yeah, no, it's I was
cheating to Jack because it was just like, ah, he's
such a legend of the business.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
So I noticed the last time that the ring barricades,
So it's like the ring a barricade space for other
people and then another barricade for the fans. I kind
of like it. I know it's not like the close
up that everybody loves, but I think that it's really beneficial.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
I don't know it. I don't notice that stuff. That's
I do, but I don't focus on the ring. But
it's I don't like how close the barricade is because
I like to think of as Eddie King's getting hurt
people hitting that barricade. But it's just it goes by
where they're set up. Dominion's usually in a smaller venue. Obviously,
it's not Tokyo Doo, so it depends when they go.
They go to California, they have closer far, but it's
(14:39):
different aesthetics. Shit, I don't think we're ever gonna see
a similar Sepe even some of their smaller shows and
New Japan Power will run the barricade, but I think
they have production crew between the fans and the barricade
because there's a lot of camera camera people with numbers
on their back. Well, technical wrestling for people who supposedly
(14:59):
can't technically. Don Kallas pumping him up. It's a true
hero that he was responsible for the Tokyo Dome attendants.
Speaker 2 (15:13):
I think as much as I can't stand him, Don
Kallus is so knowledgeable.
Speaker 3 (15:19):
And we're not supposed to stand him.
Speaker 2 (15:21):
I know when he is on commentary it is educational
and I enjoy that aspect of commentary. You've got like Taz,
who kind of talks abut himself too much. Don Challas
talks about his family too much.
Speaker 1 (15:34):
You know, they're all characters, right well exactly Taz is going.
He's supposed to be the arrogant New Yorker.
Speaker 2 (15:41):
So I think it's really insightful sometimes to actually listen
to Don Kallus when he's talking as much as I
hate listening to a hot dog.
Speaker 3 (15:52):
We're that nice counter.
Speaker 1 (15:55):
A lot of counter wrestle, they seem again they know
each other even better the first time. A lot of counters,
a lot of anything you can do, I can do
better moments here I'm kind of going up over us
to encounter. See it's that's the beautiful storytelling, is how
they move around in the ring, already going for the
one wing angel kind of countering that say they know
(16:20):
each other, kicks the rainmaker away.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
Getting cocky already with those.
Speaker 3 (16:26):
See they know each other.
Speaker 1 (16:27):
He went for the drop kick, he stopped, He news
to stop, but his name. Look, remember he's been working
his legs, may tweet to me, the old typical did
he heard it? Did Kenny heard it?
Speaker 3 (16:36):
The subtle storytelling of he's gonna take out one of
caught his strengths, his knees, his legs. Hey, that's probably
Cameron's name. The finishing move hm or finishing move.
Speaker 1 (17:02):
You know, it's funny because the big criticisms Kenny and
Okada always got was they're too flashy in their ring.
They don't let things kind of mariny. But I want
to ask you, because this is your first time seeing
these matches, I think as at all. I think they
let them loose marining. Did they do the chain wrestling.
They have the technical, they have the reversals, they're kind
(17:23):
of working each other's limbs.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
What do you think?
Speaker 2 (17:26):
So looking at it from the perspective of these are
two of the best at what they do. They're not
going to have to sell something forever because it shouldn't
be as impactful if it was someone else.
Speaker 3 (17:38):
I'm not even talking about selling.
Speaker 1 (17:39):
I just meant like the working the ring, working the
psychology that people say they don't have.
Speaker 2 (17:44):
No if they were to work someone else, it would
be different. But working someone else at the top of
their game, I think it makes a difference on who
your opponent is. And they're obviously gonna go full force,
full throttle the entire time they're together.
Speaker 3 (18:02):
Here he goes terminair dive. Here we come, cot Andy coming.
Speaker 2 (18:09):
Boot to the face.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
Powder. I always loved that expression, Oh cod is gonna
go over the.
Speaker 2 (18:17):
Top sent on love it, grabbing it is knee again.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Remember Kenny's been working that, He's been twisting around, he's
been leg bars, he's been doing.
Speaker 3 (18:27):
Submisions on it.
Speaker 2 (18:28):
Remember, like what five minutes in.
Speaker 3 (18:30):
I don't know. I don't have the time er up
on it because I feel like I just wanted to
ingratiate the moment.
Speaker 1 (18:37):
Crazy to think about, though, it's this match turned eight
years old nine days ago.
Speaker 3 (18:45):
Oh no, she's hitting buttons on me. Folks, hopefully didn't
interrupt anything. Just kidding. Sorry, sorry, you didn't actually do
a thing. I just think it decided to flicker. I
think we're good, thankfully.
Speaker 1 (19:06):
It's not like the other service who overcharged us, who
probably crash out by now, say, still going for that knee,
grabbing it, flipping it over stretch muffler or not stretch muffler,
but almost like.
Speaker 3 (19:17):
A like like DDT. I guess you would call it
innovative offenses. Jr.
Speaker 1 (19:21):
Would say, shim breaker. See he's still targeting that knee.
Dropkick to the knee. Smells blood in the water. If
(19:42):
you guys are just tuning in, we're watching Kenny Omega
versus Okada two at Dominion twenty seventeen. Emily's never seen
these match foes. It's part of our five match series,
So make sure you like subscribe. Follow along, you guys,
We're gonna be watching all these matches in order. Up
to all In, we'll be watching live and I've to
figure out how to do a little giveaway wheel. So
(20:02):
keep tuning in because on the live one all in,
we'll definitely be having some giveaways to celebrate.
Speaker 3 (20:08):
It's a little cool.
Speaker 2 (20:09):
I still owe you some bracelets from doing bingo. You do,
we had anarchy bingo.
Speaker 3 (20:19):
Jeff might be a little behind.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
I know it might not SYNCD up right, I don't know,
Sorry about that, So we won't spoil the ending. We'll
let the ending marinate for a minute. Even know, I
know Jeff knows the ending figure for a leg lock.
Also going after that knee, Oh, he's gonna reverst the
(20:42):
pressure there it is, Oh, Kenny's rolling through it. See
this is that kind of like psychotic heel thing.
Speaker 3 (20:58):
This is that like I'm not gonna let oh, I'm
not gonna I'm not giving up. I want this.
Speaker 1 (21:04):
Like this is really kind of what broke Kenny. It
really made him break out and be himself, because yeah,
he was great with the book clubs, great in the group,
but once he gotta taste how close he got to
the gold last time, He's gonna do whatever it takes
to win the gold. I mean, the book Club is
already bucking traditions. They were already going against the grain.
(21:25):
You know, they are already doing what they want. They're
acting how they want. They would attack people at press conferences.
He's not gonna be the traditional respect you. He's gonna
beat the fuck out of you. He wants that title.
He wants to be the guy still working that need
and driving that the hardest part of the ring. See,
I think Jeff will agree with us and anyone else
in the chat wants to chime in. Free space and
(21:47):
being able could also be the hardest part of the ring,
because every Matt someone mentions it's the.
Speaker 3 (21:50):
Hardest part of the ring.
Speaker 2 (21:52):
They do.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
Can he can't keep it in a close eye on
that belt as he goes to the barricade again, Well,
at least if you're gonna fall somewhere, following the lap
of a doctor as the best possible blace.
Speaker 2 (22:10):
Very true. Like here, I think he needed this.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
Here, this guy needs you. Look at his knee.
Speaker 2 (22:21):
Kenny's getting a little break now.
Speaker 1 (22:24):
Remember, Kenny's has this new like every time he wrestles,
he gets this new swagger. He's getting this confidence because
when he rows up. I mean he's the one who
basically destroyed Agent Styles. He unceremoniously beat aged Styles out
of the Bullet Club, got the whole entire organization to.
Speaker 3 (22:43):
Turn on him. He has that killer instinct. And what
did swerve? Said a hang man?
Speaker 2 (22:49):
What is swerve?
Speaker 3 (22:50):
Said Osprey.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
You need to have killer instincts to be a champion,
and Kenny Omega has that killer instinct.
Speaker 3 (22:59):
Gets back in the ring to avoid the count out.
Speaker 1 (23:03):
Yes, the apron is definitely the hardest part of the ring,
but I mean it's funny if it's if it's all
boards and slats, it's the same thickness throughout. So is
it because there's less gift because there's no suspension. That's
the only thing I can think of. Because it's all hard,
all hurt, oof stomping his leg, I'm gonna just laughing,
(23:25):
enjoying himself.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
What are your thoughts?
Speaker 2 (23:37):
There's so much going on. I'm so sorry for like
not talking. I'm just taking everything in. I would not
want to get kicked like that, though, Like fuck that.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
Defiance, that fighting spirit that Japan's are, like you know what,
Like he's not gonna just roll over and die.
Speaker 3 (24:01):
They're just again, strong style, stiff shots every time.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
They hear in your favorite Oh no, gotta oh more
structured to support. That's that's what I'm thinking too, Jeff.
You know more about engineering and stuff than I do,
so it's it's what I figured. I'm like, it's gotta
be something to do with how the weight distribution is.
(24:27):
And it's harder part at the end, but it's just comic.
Speaker 3 (24:30):
Oops. Every single commentator says that.
Speaker 1 (24:46):
Both are already kind of getting tired, but they're not
gonna give up easy.
Speaker 2 (24:53):
I'm gonna run and grab a drink really quick, really quick. Right,
You don't have to pause anything.
Speaker 3 (24:59):
I'll be I can't pause anything. We're live.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
Throwing him into the corner. Oh nice counter there, just
flipping over Okada. There's got a big boot. But God
is starting to get a little bit of a comeback here. Sorry,
it worked the legs. Another STF combination there, crazy right here.
(25:38):
Just the flexibility of Omega, the flexibility of Ocada. Get
that STF combination going. He's trying to mount a comeback
(25:59):
here just to kind of get something. So otherwise it's
ben a Kenny Omega the whole.
Speaker 2 (26:03):
Match, stretching him out we'll.
Speaker 1 (26:14):
He's trying to grab the you know, grab the ref
get to pull himself the ropes faster and kind of cheat.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
Buck.
Speaker 1 (26:27):
Should I give him couragement and like take a breather.
You know you got this, you got this. But again,
this is still it's Omega hasn't beaten Okada. He's he's
just it's that again, white whale. Not to keep using
that expression, but that's what it is for him. It's
Kenny hasn't really been on a losing shake. He does
not used to losing. He needs to get this chip
(26:48):
off his shoulder and he knows O Katta took him
to the limits last time, and he's already taking to
the ruins again and everything he's throwing out a kado.
Okada is still fighting.
Speaker 2 (26:57):
Oh, try to jump off the barricade and get shoved
into it.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
Came back for last time.
Speaker 1 (27:05):
Also, it's weird seeing bad Luck Fallet because obviously he's
an og member of the Bullet Club.
Speaker 3 (27:09):
He officially turned on the Bullet Club recently.
Speaker 1 (27:11):
So there's no more original members left in the book club,
which I mean twelve thirteen years later, it's a pretty
impressive run. But yeah, bad Luck Fallet, who was originally
like the bouncer of the Bullet Clubs no longer in
the Bullet club.
Speaker 2 (27:25):
Just broke that barricade.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
It's like PVC, you see it.
Speaker 2 (27:28):
I was thinking the same thing. It definitely looks like
PBC piping, like.
Speaker 1 (27:34):
Full on sprinted and just cross bodied right into that
PVC barricade.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
He twerked.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
It not the kind of tworking I'm used to. You
don't watch Love Island with me?
Speaker 1 (27:52):
No, No, I want to wait. If I'm gonna waste
my brain cells, I'm gon using on wrestling so again,
going into the crowd, just like that first match, you know,
they're they're just throwing each.
Speaker 3 (28:07):
Other all the way.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
They're putting their bodies on the line, not throwing each
other into the crowd barricades earlier with that shin breaker
on the table. But now Ocatta's kind of he's got
his second wind, and Kenny Omega's kind of got his
back against the wall now and really Okada can take
control here. And I think that's what Omega has to realize,
is that you don't want to Okada get in a rhythm.
(28:28):
Once he gets in a rhythm, you're done. He's gonna
go for his drop. K He's gonna go for his tombstone.
He's gonna go for that rain maker to put you away.
Speaking a tombstone. Oh, patter into another tombstone. Kenny's got
it now counter to another gymstone. Ocada's got it.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
Kenny kicks out, rolled up.
Speaker 1 (28:52):
They can't know each other so well, going for an
Alabama slam, Oh turn to a neck breaker.
Speaker 2 (28:59):
That was creat as Calus said, nailed that.
Speaker 3 (29:04):
You think he wouldn't want to be saying that about
his client getting hurt or well this time his friend
love that just driving him right on his knee quale
and I guess you'd call it your quad. So he's
got big quads. So Coda is a big man, got
big legs, miss with his elbow drop.
Speaker 1 (29:30):
So again, if you're just joining us or watching Kenny
Omega or Okada Dominion twenty seventeen, second match in their
four part series leading to All Lane, where they're gonna
face the fifth possibly final time winner takes All And
he's never seen these four matches, so what better way
to understand the history going towards all End than rewatch
these classic matches, Because I think she's gonna appreciate this match.
Speaker 2 (29:53):
At all in a lot more, Yes, definitely. I actually
appreciate Okada a lot more after seeing more of his
new Japan style.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
I mean, look at when Speedbog got the ring with it.
But when Okada wants to turn on he ken oof
drop King to the back. I don't think it's a
matter of if he wants. He's just not gonna go
one hundred miles an hour on TV anymore because he's older,
but reviews. He turns it up every time I think, And.
Speaker 2 (30:18):
I'm not poo pooing on him in aew if for
anyone that doesn't understand, I did not know of him
until he came in really know the lore, so to
see like, oh, this is peak Okada. I mean this
was when he was on top of New Japan. He
was never really not though I was.
Speaker 1 (30:38):
Gonna say, yeah, you're right, though, this is this is
like prime Okada. Like really, he's cementing his title. Run here,
he's cementing his I mean again, he had the balls
enough to call Kenny omeg Ou the only one who
really took him to his limits, and he said, listen,
you're the only fucking worthy to face me.
Speaker 3 (30:56):
Let's do it. Again.
Speaker 1 (30:58):
Okada has this did you say quah about him? He
has his or about him that he'll say, Listen, I'm
a defending champion.
Speaker 3 (31:06):
Let's go. I choose you Omega, and he did, and
it's just paid off in dividends.
Speaker 1 (31:18):
And I like the back and forth how Omega kind
of gets his stuff in and Okada gets his comeback.
They know each other as well, but they're trading off
the momentum bursts and good shifts.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
I enjoy that.
Speaker 1 (31:31):
It's like the pendulum is kind of swinging both ways. Oof,
there's stiff shots to that dropkick to the back.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
It's just wild. So he's worked his legs, he's worked
his back.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
Back when Kevin Kelly was again a good commentator, like
one of the best for New Japan. His energy, Him
and Callous are really selling the importance of what they're
doing in the matter. They're really selling the craziness. Kenny
in the power he has another deadlived power bomb. Can't
(32:10):
little frustrate. He doesn't know what he has to do.
Put him away?
Speaker 3 (32:14):
See that face like, what the fuck do I gonna do?
Speaker 2 (32:19):
He looks fed up.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
I mean, at this point, you wrestled him in forty
five plus minutes. Now, this is probably twenty five thirty ish.
Speaker 3 (32:29):
Minutes into this match. What do you have to do?
Speaker 1 (32:32):
You've wrestled him over an hour now, and you're like,
what's it gonna take? Like another snapdragon here? Like, what's
it gonna take to put him away?
Speaker 2 (32:41):
Oof?
Speaker 3 (32:44):
Got the one wing angel going.
Speaker 2 (32:47):
Counter? Oof.
Speaker 3 (32:52):
I agree with Jeff the aggressive.
Speaker 2 (32:54):
Attacks, you can't escape.
Speaker 3 (33:01):
The reversals.
Speaker 1 (33:02):
Yeah, it's just everything Jeff's talking about, how they're reversals
and the aggressiveness. It works so well. The chemistry between
these two, they know each other so well. But wrestling
is like, you need a good dance partner, as they say,
and I'm not trying to like dismonish it, but you
need someone who can flow with you in the ring.
You need someone who can jibe with what you're doing.
(33:23):
And they just they're so natural together.
Speaker 2 (33:25):
They say that the best of friends make the best
partners in the ring.
Speaker 1 (33:30):
Yeah, I can see Omegan Okata having I mean, they're
going to war with each other.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
They're legitimately taking each other to the limits.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Physical exhaustion is the thing they're not laying in little
white shots. There's some potatoes here, there's some stiff strikes,
there's exhaustion, there's real feelings, and you don't.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
Have to necessarily be best friends. But that chemistry comes
from history. It doesn't matter. As long as that you
have that chemistry, it's gonna work.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
Yeah, this you need that understanding. And it's like any
type of sports or athletic contests. When you watch a
division game. In football, it's always a Usually it's a
close knit game. Usually it's a one score affair because
these teams know each other. If you have the Rams
and the Seahawks going at each other, it might be
(34:21):
fifty to fifty split.
Speaker 3 (34:22):
Because they're in the same division. They're gonna go after
each other.
Speaker 1 (34:24):
If you have the Dolphins and the Bills going after
and it's the same thing, you know, it's essentially they're
division rivals. At this point, they're seeing each other. They're
counter punching each other. You throw a punch, I'm gonna
throw a punch. You throw a kick, I'm gonna throw
a kick. They're exhausting each other, hurting each other. Okada
is you know, his chest is hurting his back. Omega
is literally working every part to take him down, chopping
(34:46):
him down like a tree.
Speaker 2 (34:48):
And the chops, take away your breath, right, Yes, that's
the cardio aspect, trying to slow them down.
Speaker 1 (35:01):
You got Omega go up to the top just again,
the disrespect, grabbing all of the hair, gonna bounce his face.
Speaker 2 (35:07):
Off, like no, I'm waiting the junk.
Speaker 3 (35:13):
Oh goodness, got.
Speaker 1 (35:14):
A fireman's care pick up on the top rope. He's
He's like, no, no, no, we're going on that back again.
But again, take that base of ocado away and take
his power away.
Speaker 2 (35:27):
Mega's gonna reverse. Okada stops it.
Speaker 1 (35:33):
Trying to go for a power bomb, and Ncada's kind
of got him on his back again.
Speaker 3 (35:38):
Neither one want to take this move. Neither one want
to hit that. So Omega's trying to do.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
A power bomb, but he's in a precarious position right now.
Oh he counted into a sunset flip, didn't quit get
the power bomb, but he's able to survive and not
get taken out.
Speaker 3 (35:54):
Again.
Speaker 1 (35:54):
Just the ring awareness, the knowledge getting him in the
tree a well, getting him set to what you want. Well,
he didn't fully put him up, but he's getting setup.
He's gonna do a snapdragon again. I swear and watched
this ahead of time. He says it right after last
of myself is like four years ago, probably five years ago.
Spent my third time watching this one. But again remember
(36:23):
the last time and Wressell Kingdom. He hit that Snapdragon
Superlex off the top Probab but it threw him for
a little, but it almost got the win, and he
really wants it here.
Speaker 3 (36:33):
He's got it locked in. O'cada does not want to
not want to give that up.
Speaker 2 (36:40):
Oh COTD has been wrapped around this turn buckle for
probably a good five minutes.
Speaker 3 (36:45):
It feels like not I would say that long. Yeah,
it's been up there.
Speaker 2 (36:49):
I wouldn't blame him. I wrapped myself around that thing too.
Speaker 1 (36:54):
Okay, Still he is trying to hit this move he
knows and OCDA is not. It's great, it's against that
subtle story here. He knows if he hits he scooting.
OCDA is like, I need to encounter this, and what
a way to kind of encounter, Like they're both in
bad positions. How he's got him on the apron and
the fireman's carry oh F and F you basically attitude
(37:18):
adjustment whatever you want to call it.
Speaker 3 (37:20):
On the apron.
Speaker 2 (37:23):
The bucks are right there to grab Kenny. Make sure
he's good.
Speaker 3 (37:27):
Look at this, they said to the death Ally driver.
Speaker 1 (37:31):
But it's more of like a f you attitude adjustment
John Cenas, but like flat on his back on the apron.
Oh and he cornered that kind of like when Darby
took that coffin drop Coda's gasp in air. Imagine Kenny.
(37:52):
Kenny's literally crawling around outside the ring.
Speaker 3 (37:54):
He's just exhausted. Okata is setting something up. He watched
Kenny Omegas getting the ring.
Speaker 1 (38:06):
He's kind of like hide behind the cameraman here, but
bucks are obviously saying watch out, watch out.
Speaker 3 (38:13):
But oh that barricade again. Now it's the guard rail
this time. Oh my god, Shakun dry threw the barricade.
Speaker 1 (38:27):
And this one wasn't PBC, this was the metal one.
See now, notice that Kada's starting to kind of he's
starting I wanted to say played dirty because it's not dirty,
but he's starting to realize he's gotta be.
Speaker 3 (38:43):
More of a dick.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
He's got to wrestle more of like a fuck you style. Yeah,
I meaning this mannerism is like what the fuck? He's
starting to kind of get.
Speaker 3 (38:55):
This match. Really that like I said, when I was
saying earlier the dynamic.
Speaker 1 (38:59):
Shift, this is what I meant, like he's starting to
kind of realize like he was already getting arrogant when
he called out Kenny.
Speaker 3 (39:05):
He was already having to getting that big ego as
champion because he's, you.
Speaker 1 (39:08):
Know, getting one of the longest rains and he's going
defense after defense.
Speaker 2 (39:12):
Oh, here's a table.
Speaker 1 (39:15):
He just his mannerisms here, his facial he definitely is
leaning into the grimy heel and I like it. And
as Maureen pointed out in our comments section that the
way these tables you know, are built, they're designed more
for the impact, but I don't know, they're still pretty thick.
There's they're your favorite, they're your favorite tables. It's like
(39:35):
a door, U said, last.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
Time, Yeah they are. They have a honeycomb insulation inside
of it. I really looked into these like ouch okay ouch, and.
Speaker 1 (39:45):
Last time Kenny basically went through it and like like
acid and legs through it. So who's gonna go through
this table? Like what's gonna happen here? Because you know
someone's going through it.
Speaker 2 (39:54):
The commonality is whoever sets up the table typically takes
the table that was not the case the last time around.
Speaker 3 (40:04):
Now, so you see that comment American wrestling has to commonality?
Is it in Japan?
Speaker 1 (40:08):
I haven't seen enough table spots to make that judgment,
So maybe that's something up to keep an eye on
if we notice if it's strictly an American wrestling thing
or is it a worldwide thing?
Speaker 3 (40:16):
Because I couldn't tell you.
Speaker 2 (40:18):
If you know, let us know if.
Speaker 3 (40:21):
You know, you know, and let us know.
Speaker 2 (40:23):
Look at another dere strength.
Speaker 3 (40:27):
Who kotta did not want to get power bombs through
that table.
Speaker 2 (40:30):
Knowing that the medical stuff that Kenny deals with later on,
it's incredible to watch what he puts himself through to
get to that point.
Speaker 1 (40:38):
Maybe and he can see why he was probably able
to rebuild his court, oh you know, rebuild that ship
because he knows how important it is to his style.
Kenny's on the apron, He's shaking his hand at the table, saying,
I ain't going through that. Catch him with a dropkick, springboard.
(41:00):
I bet that'll be a call back. You see it
all over that dropkick to the stomach. Oh kinda definitely
enjoyed that. Gott I got some risk control here, getting
ready to have his elbow drop. Oh, I'm surprised if
(41:20):
Codd now he does the ol drop doesn't do like
a middle finger when he does it.
Speaker 2 (41:24):
Not yet.
Speaker 1 (41:25):
We need to see that, like him just flipping like
flipping it off when he does it. He does it
for the rain maker pose. Now he hasn't really hit one.
He tried earlier, but Kenny kicked it, so is he
gonna hit one now?
Speaker 2 (41:38):
And he didn't taunt it as much as he normally
would to try and probably get the upper hand.
Speaker 3 (41:44):
You're trying to do it quick. Yeah, so we're halfway
through thirty minutes.
Speaker 1 (41:53):
Has already elapsed thirty minutes or meetings, so we're halfway
through here, which is wild to think about that they've
already gone thirty minutes and they're still going like they
just started.
Speaker 3 (42:05):
It's the conditioning of these two minutes insane.
Speaker 1 (42:12):
And I know there's a lot of Christmas Well, well
they're not like they were eight years ago, but they
can still tell a good story in the ring. They
don't have to go one hundred miles an hour. They
can still tell a dang goods story going sixty And who's.
Speaker 2 (42:21):
Said say they're not training to go one hundred miles
an hour? We don't know what they're training to do
right now.
Speaker 1 (42:27):
Yeah, they you know, they're not really being putting a
lot of matches to kind of heal up nagging injuries,
which is always smart thing.
Speaker 2 (42:35):
I want to point out, not one of us really
knew Nigel was coming back. We didn't know he was
in the ring training.
Speaker 3 (42:42):
Yeah, not till after anyway.
Speaker 2 (42:43):
Yeah, you just don't know.
Speaker 1 (42:44):
That's why I like Aw's Things don't leak as much, thankfully,
so there's a lot more surprises to be had.
Speaker 3 (42:50):
But then again, sometimes things that leak are usually liars by.
Speaker 2 (42:54):
Oooh crossing his legs into.
Speaker 1 (42:58):
Super plex when he's cross, like to break his leg
too at the same time. So now Al has that
hurt his tailbow, baskta hurt his leg too, kinda just
gets his shoulder up like two and a half or
as Cam would say, two point nine nine. That's super blex.
(43:22):
Just beautiful. Matt Jackson jumping up and down for joy
out front out ringsize. She's saying no it front, just
holding him up there, just drops off on the back
of his neck. You know, OCD is definitely in danger
(43:45):
here at this point. Again, his the momentium. You know
that pendulum swifts it back to well Mega. He smells
that blood again. He's worked on his cors, worked on
his back, he's worked on his legs. He knows he's
just gonna hit that one wing Angel and it's over.
Speaker 3 (44:00):
It was gonna step for his v trigger first thought,
doesn't hit his be trigger either.
Speaker 1 (44:14):
Counter The German finally hits that be trigger, and Don
Kellis said, one of the best needs in the business.
Speaker 3 (44:20):
I couldn't agree more.
Speaker 1 (44:21):
The trigger is probably one of the best looking moves
he does that run me counters the woman. Angel tries
to get a rain Maker, counters the rain Maker to
a backslide, which is countered b trigger caught.
Speaker 3 (44:35):
Again.
Speaker 1 (44:35):
The chemistry that knowing each other, the timing captain it
oh deadlift. German held on to it, trying to grab
the hair to get out of the German. We're going
to go for two and hold it in half. Kada
(45:00):
is getting tired.
Speaker 3 (45:01):
Kenny's just done Rainmaker, his guy, it's over rain Maker.
Speaker 2 (45:10):
Two point nine and.
Speaker 3 (45:13):
That Rainmaker was let in. He didn't just you know,
love tap that. He let it in.
Speaker 1 (45:18):
So two German Superlex's and Rainmaker like watch his Rainmaker.
He just all of that right on the shoulder and
neck flips him over. But that slight hesitation of Okada
not pinning him right away, that's that half a second
could cause can catch you.
Speaker 3 (45:35):
Listen to O Soccer right now and again when you hear, oh,
how can this match live up to the first one
I present you?
Speaker 2 (45:47):
It does?
Speaker 3 (45:51):
That felt so beautiful.
Speaker 1 (45:53):
They keep showing the IWGP version four, but it's amazing,
it bigg amazing. If you guys like and subscribe that
you get more of this amazing content as we next
week we'll go into match three, which will be some
high stakes on that one as well too.
Speaker 3 (46:08):
So if you're just.
Speaker 1 (46:09):
Tuning in, we're watching all four Kenny Omega Ocana matches
leading up to All Ends live on July twelfth, Well,
we will be watching with you live.
Speaker 3 (46:17):
See what happens. Let's see how we get there.
Speaker 1 (46:19):
Right now, we're in match two a little over thirty
minutes away with crazy action. Emily is legitimately speechless, which
you've listened to the podcast. No, it is not easy
to make her speechless. It's not easy to make me speechless,
especially not me. I don't shut up.
Speaker 2 (46:34):
Part of it too, is I do not know finishing moves,
and I am honest about that. You're doing something that
looks like it hurts. No, I have not seen anything
like that callous, so it's hard for me to sometimes
say words and put things together. However, this match has
been absolutely NonStop, and I feel like if I take
(46:55):
my eyes off of it, I'm gonna miss something. But
they are good with the play.
Speaker 3 (47:00):
No, and I'm not even judging.
Speaker 1 (47:02):
I'm saying it's it's wrestling is about keeping your air
interest and keeping you wanting to see what's going on
New Japan short of having a distribution that was only
on the New Japan World. It's good to see fans. Finally,
I'm glad that you have like the Dante Torros out there.
Whoever you watch in New Japan, we're trying to watch, like,
(47:24):
go out subscribe to New Japan World, check it out,
because there's so much great history on there. And we're
not done our New Japan journey after this series, because
to appreciate what we currently have, we have to appreciate
the past.
Speaker 2 (47:37):
And something to think about with watching, you know, the
other shows as like Rev Pro New Japan, the ones
that have recently lost very big names it's important to
still watch the next ones. Who's next?
Speaker 3 (47:52):
You have to remember when one that gives me adjuda.
Speaker 2 (47:57):
Like when one of them comes out of the promotion,
you know at least three more stepping up to the
plate always.
Speaker 1 (48:03):
And that's what's great about like with new Jaban system,
like all oh drop kick out of the ring.
Speaker 3 (48:09):
All these guys.
Speaker 1 (48:11):
You know, you had a Finn Baler, you had a
Kenny Omega, will Osprey comes through the super juniors, you
know from their light heavyweight division, Decide fuck that, let's
add some muscle and go to the headweight division. You
had Finn Baler was like, I can't bulk up, but
I can kick your ass and use more of a
stiff style. Japan taught him that size doesn't always matter,
your heart and your way you work does. And that's
(48:34):
another kind of really broke barriers and this match, these
matches been kind of make it really broke barriers and
showed fans what new Japan could be. It wasn't just again,
it wasn't just one style. Strong style was evolving. That's
cliche to say, but it's really.
Speaker 3 (48:48):
What it showed.
Speaker 2 (48:50):
I want to point out all the cameramen behind this
table right now. Oh yeah, like popop.
Speaker 3 (48:57):
Rot see and you have mad Jackson's not me your
biggest fan.
Speaker 2 (49:05):
Kenny's grabbing at straws, trying to find a way off
this table.
Speaker 3 (49:11):
I just taking it too long though. He's gonna go
for the elbow drop through the table.
Speaker 1 (49:21):
He's taking off the little covering so we can get
footing on the actual turn buckle like.
Speaker 2 (49:24):
Hook into the table and it just tips over.
Speaker 3 (49:32):
It broke. But then it just didn't go through like
they thought they would.
Speaker 2 (49:37):
That's worse not going through the table.
Speaker 3 (49:41):
More than just like your momentum stalls out for sure.
Speaker 1 (49:51):
Yeah, just let's see, don casso what you said to Yeah,
it's split down the middle just and go all the
way through. Is a I was already bruised just from
this match alone, and that move. Both men definitely did
not get a good end of that. I don't Okata
kind of landed on the solid base of Omega, and
(50:14):
you had Omega just kind of getting landed on them
falling off the table. So it's almost like the old Nah,
what's that movie with Adams had Little Nikki both sides
a hurt equally, like it just doesn't matter, like It's
just both men did.
Speaker 3 (50:30):
Not take stick the good point get this out of here?
Was this one of the first I am the table moments.
They're like correct, I mean you're at me.
Speaker 1 (50:47):
Wearing close to forty ish minutes, if not more. Both
men have like everything but their finished. I mean Okada
is the one who's had it finished so far. They've
both been thrown to barricades. That table destroy them. Apron bumps, superplexes.
Speaker 2 (51:04):
The Bucks just tapped on the table, making sure everything
was good.
Speaker 1 (51:08):
Yeah, don't worry, Bucks, The table's fine. You're compadre not
so much, but the table's fine. I don't think Gado
was ever happy, callous. Welcome in, everyone's join us. We're
watching Kenny Omega versus Okada at Dominion two from two seventeen,
part of the four match series between Kenny Omega and
(51:29):
Kazuska Okada leading into all In. Can't wait to see
the fifth match, but right now, love and rewatching these well.
Match number two. We start two more to go after this,
which is wild to think about.
Speaker 2 (51:42):
I don't know how these guys give in the ring
with each other time and time again.
Speaker 3 (51:46):
Willingly, because they put on magic.
Speaker 2 (51:51):
I guess if I was in this position, I'd want
to go up against the best.
Speaker 3 (51:57):
Listening to this crowd just coming on glued.
Speaker 2 (52:01):
I thought that New Japan crowds didn't make noise only
during COVID common misconceptions, yep.
Speaker 1 (52:10):
Because they didn't obviously want to cheer and spread germs
and spit on everything, so they just did the clapping.
But you know, now the crowds are back and full force.
They're back very passionate fans. Japanese fans are just very respectful,
so they're not gonna You're not gonna hear what what
or the annoying chance, but you'll hear chance, you'll hear yours.
Speaker 3 (52:30):
But it takes a lot.
Speaker 1 (52:30):
If you can get a Japanese crowd going, you're doing
something because they're very much into style and tradition.
Speaker 2 (52:36):
And they love the monsters the big Well, that's why
a liger was such a thing, Like, that's why you
had Mooda being said.
Speaker 3 (52:44):
All these Invader was so over.
Speaker 2 (52:47):
I think Archer did really well over there as well.
Speaker 3 (52:50):
Oh, they love Archer. They love Archer because everybody cries.
I can't say. I don't know if you can stay
on streams. I don't want to say it.
Speaker 1 (53:01):
Both metators glistening and sweat breathing hard, their sucking wind,
Kenny's own desperation shots, Ocada's corpor Ocata's just basically they
hit a rain Maker and it's over, and he's just
kind of toying with Omega. He Omega's kind of on
(53:22):
his last legs, and Ocata's just kind of sitting there
and just not even just toying with it, basically not
even really engaging him.
Speaker 2 (53:32):
So uninterested in his games.
Speaker 1 (53:35):
Rainmaker there it is, and keeping he holds his wrist.
He's gonna give another one, maintains risk control as they
would love to set.
Speaker 2 (53:45):
They just said, the bucks are grabbing at him.
Speaker 3 (53:50):
See you again, this is not something Okada would normally do.
Speaker 1 (53:55):
So that Okada go have that second Rainmaker was very
uncharacteristic of him to kind of be that ergantic. Kenny's
bringing this out in this more arrogant side started to
show like he could have finished it earlier.
Speaker 3 (54:06):
No, he wants to inflict pain. He wants to inflict
the punishment on Omega. I love, did you see the boks?
What's your problem? The robot?
Speaker 1 (54:24):
I'm but he hasn't. He could have pins Kenny. So
like there's there's a mistake. You hit two more rainmakers,
but you didn't capitalize on either one, so not gonna
go for a third, Like it's the arrogance. But see
he's wasting time, wasting time. It's not a really babyface
(54:45):
like tactics to kind of want to play around, you know,
babyfaces hit the finish and want to get it done heels.
Speaker 3 (54:53):
This is more of a heel tactic.
Speaker 1 (54:54):
So again that dynamic shift I was telling me about this,
that's one thing I always remember this match of that
dynamic shift of like whoa.
Speaker 3 (55:01):
You know, so here's the oh you know, that's what
is Cody doing.
Speaker 2 (55:07):
Oh they ran this story with MJF almost.
Speaker 1 (55:10):
Very different, very different, but yeah, it's, well, what Cody
wants to do. He wants to throw the towel and
he wants to end the match, but they're stopping him.
He's saying he's saving Kenny, but really he wants to
throw town and he's like, oh, come on.
Speaker 3 (55:29):
I need to throw it in.
Speaker 1 (55:31):
But the Bucks are stopping it. Rightfully, So because really
this was always a ploy by Cody. He doesn't give
a shit about Kenny. He gives a shit about power.
His whole New Japan thing was kind of like that
sneaky politician American nightmare. And see if they let him
throw the tackle with Keny whant to got that sick
and burst. So you have.
Speaker 3 (56:00):
This is really the spark that lied the Civil War
in Bullet Club is Cody.
Speaker 1 (56:07):
Trying to screw with Kenny Omega. It really starts with that.
That moment right there is what kind of started the
separation of the elite.
Speaker 2 (56:16):
You've got the rest of the Bullet Club and Kenny
wipes himself with that white towl. We've got everybody banging
on the apron from the.
Speaker 3 (56:24):
Cody Club except for Cody.
Speaker 1 (56:26):
Cody's frustrated, He's shocked because again his ruses he's doing
it for Kenny, but he wasn't.
Speaker 3 (56:33):
And the bucks knew. The bucks knew not to trust
Cody Ducks. The rain Maker goes for a v.
Speaker 2 (56:41):
Trigger and that was a harsh roll up. That wasn't
like a light covers.
Speaker 3 (56:56):
Going for a one man angel. Here crowd's going crazy.
They sent to.
Speaker 1 (57:03):
Look at encountered that he countered that he flipped out
the one wing that was probably one of the best
counter So one wing, you know, I've seen.
Speaker 3 (57:15):
You're talking about.
Speaker 1 (57:15):
Looking hang man, I'm watching I'll kind of flip out
of that right maker, and yeah, hang in with his
little curly hair looking full school teacher right there, is
he gonna get the warming angel. No, kind of slides
down the back so kind of knows that he can't
get that, So he's he's not gonna let Canny get
that easily. But quickly you go back to Cody our
(57:37):
next match number. But look, look, look, oh you got
the flop barely on the ropes, awar because he didn't
do it in the stander of the ring. If you
done at the stander of the ring, he would have.
But again, but how much it protected the one wing angel.
Still he didn't count of it. He did the whole
put my foot on the ropes at the last second.
(58:02):
Watch it his toe, His toe got the rope. Even
red shoes was like, holy crap, your toe.
Speaker 2 (58:11):
Man.
Speaker 3 (58:15):
See Cody's basically still like I should have thrown it in.
And it was all a ploy. So you know, when
Cody goes out there and says I was the leader
of the book, this is right here. He wasn't.
Speaker 1 (58:24):
He wanted power, He wanted to lead the Bullet Club
because he knew he didn't believe Kenny had the best
intentions for the Bullet Club. He knew that the other
members of the book Club would join him in his coup,
And this is what started his coup. This is what
starts Cody's dissension from the elite, Cody's discension from the
Bullet Club before they kind of, you know, shook hands
and made up in twenty eighteen.
Speaker 3 (58:44):
But that's a very pivotal moment for a bullet Club.
Speaker 2 (58:48):
They're banging on the rings so hard on the outside
that Ocada's hair was vibrating.
Speaker 1 (58:56):
So keep that in mind too. This chase is the
first nail in the coffin Kenny getting betrayed. And again,
Bullet Club is kind of like Game of Thrones. Everyone
betrays everyone, Like, I don't think there's one person in
the book Club who hasn't turned on yet. You got
that rain makerbrow, Yeah, that's.
Speaker 3 (59:19):
The the fifth one I've seen.
Speaker 1 (59:20):
Every time they zoom obvious sly a new bruise, he's
got a shinerboy his eyes, he's got a giant cut
on his back, he's got bruise on the back of
his neck, his shoulder, his legs. Omega is all red
and blown up. They're definitely they're exhausted. You know this
is a long match reason you know they're giving it.
They're all times ticking down. They're they're trying to get
(59:44):
that final kill shot and get that final move in
and leave champion. They're counting down the finals.
Speaker 3 (59:57):
He can't. They're so exhausted. Almost got count almost got
a double count out there.
Speaker 1 (01:00:07):
Both men were down. That's how exhausted both men are.
Just they've gone to their limits. They've hit their best shots.
Rain Makers been hit, one wing angels been hit. They're
slugging it out. They've topped their endurance to the ring.
They've already gone longer than the last match. Okada is
(01:00:27):
still like, what is it gonna take? Keny Omega's like,
what's it gonna take? The subtle story here, just neither
men will give up. Neither men wants to give up.
They don't want to lay down to three. They want
to walk out with that golds. But again, this is
(01:00:48):
what's consumed Kenny, so think about it. He's sacrificing everything
for this belt. Look who's supporting them though? The Bucks
know what this means to him what it means for
the Bullet Club. O'cada is down and Kenny knows.
Speaker 3 (01:01:02):
He sees it. He sees his bath the goal, he
sees his victory in sight.
Speaker 1 (01:01:07):
She just gotta hit that one way angel snap dragon,
it's getting set up for it. Drop kick out of nowhere.
One of the best drop kicks in the business too.
By the way, Occada's got a beautiful dropkick. Like people
always talk about Acata and they talk about the rain Maker.
(01:01:28):
I always think of that dropkicking, that elbow drop on
top of the Rainmaker, because those are probably three of
my favorite Moosey does.
Speaker 3 (01:01:34):
Is that.
Speaker 1 (01:01:36):
Thank you Kevin Kelly, just validating what I said. And
the way they had the camera cut, you didn't see
him set up for it, so it just came out
of nowhere. So that replay kind of ruins that magic,
but it just came out of nowhere.
Speaker 3 (01:01:51):
With that other angle.
Speaker 1 (01:02:00):
A getting dangerously low on timecind is still taking his
sweet time. It's kind of toying with him here.
Speaker 2 (01:02:12):
His drop kicks are hard. Oh they've officially gone longer
than they did at Russell Kingdom YEP, so that I.
Speaker 1 (01:02:26):
Gotten setting records for how long they go oh, look
on his face from the guy from Chaos.
Speaker 3 (01:02:38):
I can't think.
Speaker 1 (01:02:38):
I can't see him face to his name, his mouth again,
he hit that knee and he totally just hit the
home alone.
Speaker 3 (01:02:46):
Full mouth again.
Speaker 2 (01:02:47):
That crack was so loud.
Speaker 1 (01:02:56):
Neither man again wants to get it this there's He's Austin.
They're selling in this ring, the showing, the fighting spirit.
This is what I love about New Japan. Everyone always
talks about they don't sell, they don't show a match,
but the selling takes place depending on the story of
the time.
Speaker 3 (01:03:10):
This match, they're showing they're.
Speaker 1 (01:03:12):
The top dogs. They can dish it out, they can
take it. They're not gonna quit. They're showing they're resilient.
They're showing he's the top champion, Kenny's the top guys
into the top foreigner. They're both championship material. Hanny Omega
had some of the best Intercontinental title defenses. But they're
going to the point where they're just passing out. They
rather die in the ring. And I hate to use
(01:03:33):
that analogy, but they rather leave it all in the
ring than just give up tap out, succumb to a
three counter, the one wing Angel to a tombstone hits
the tombstone. That was beautiful.
Speaker 2 (01:03:45):
Cody's still questioning things on the outside, what storytelling.
Speaker 1 (01:03:50):
Because he feels I should have saved him. But again,
he'd been planning seeds leading up to this. He'd been
planning seeds about not trusting Kenny wanting to take over
the Bullet Club, even in press cons just saying he
knows what it's like to be on top and all this,
he knows what Bullet Club needs. And it was great
(01:04:12):
that little civil war angle. I mean, give us the elite.
It gave us a strong version of the elite going
into all and going into the formation of a ew.
So those seeds and then you have obviously Tangaloa out there, Jera,
do you have all these seeds planted? And then the
seeds these two planning of what the hell is it
gonna take to walk out with his championship like this,
(01:04:34):
What's what's OK gonna take to defend this title?
Speaker 3 (01:04:36):
What's ken you need to win the title? Gon? Go
for another rainmaker, try to finish it off.
Speaker 2 (01:04:42):
Cody just shrugged his shoulders.
Speaker 3 (01:04:44):
I'm not even worried about Cody. Did you see what go?
Speaker 2 (01:04:46):
Megga just did I did he ducked right out or
another rain maker? Didn't he duck?
Speaker 3 (01:04:51):
He just fell down in exhaustion.
Speaker 2 (01:04:54):
I hear, I am thinking it was thought out.
Speaker 1 (01:04:57):
No, it could be, but it subtles storyteller. It's just
like slumping down. Say just slumps down because he's so tired.
But what a good what a good again? A good
way to sell that him? Just like slumping down? Just
Josh and think about who did that? Think about hangingman
Osprey when they when he avoided the hidden blade by
just laying down, Jay White avoiding the buckshot by laying down.
(01:05:19):
The subtle storytelling of I'm gonna tell my exhaustion. But
also it's how I can counter I'm just gonna fall
to the ground because you can't hate your move.
Speaker 3 (01:05:25):
I fall to the ground.
Speaker 2 (01:05:27):
Everybody's doing the pixie dust clapping.
Speaker 3 (01:05:30):
Don't call a pixie dust clapping.
Speaker 2 (01:05:31):
For the love of God, that's how you brought her back.
Speaker 3 (01:05:38):
I don't want to think a tinker Bell when I
think of.
Speaker 1 (01:05:42):
Even Yes, I know it's wrestling, but I don't want
to think of Peter Pan or Captain Hook either. Okay,
I mean the actually there wasn't pirate WB so we
had we have had pretty close.
Speaker 3 (01:05:54):
He actually came in on a rope and everything too.
Speaker 1 (01:05:58):
And then they tried to rebranded case Arnie, which is
Carnie speak hilarious.
Speaker 3 (01:06:05):
Can't get that tombstone. They're both going for a tombstone.
They can't get it.
Speaker 1 (01:06:13):
You got bad luck, ye, pretty much the entire book
call you got bad Luck failed the bucks. You hang man,
everyone there, you got Cody still got the towel in
his hand. He still has that towel. Why would you
let him take that towel back?
Speaker 2 (01:06:25):
He looks very puzzled and questioning.
Speaker 3 (01:06:31):
Because he wants to throw it in. He's just staring.
He's not staring at Ocado, staring at Omega. Ocado is
just either.
Speaker 1 (01:06:49):
Just like delirious angry or both took that v trigger
and his eyes were just like glazed. So five minutes
you're in this match, if we got over fifty five minutes,
have five minutes left in this match. Neither one has
had anything close besides maybe a few minutes ago where
(01:07:11):
Ocatta got two point nine to nine.
Speaker 3 (01:07:12):
But they're taking their sweet time. No one's capitalizing. Nope.
Speaker 2 (01:07:22):
But this is when Kenny usually pulls it out.
Speaker 3 (01:07:25):
He's going, he's gonna get that be trigger. He wants
what he wants. He wants that be trigger. He wants
that rain may yeah, maymaer.
Speaker 1 (01:07:33):
He wants a woming angel. He doesn't want that rain mare.
He wants to just punish Okada. See even Calas is like,
come on, Pennham, what are you doing, Let's go for
a going for a tombstone, gets dropkicked in the back.
Speaker 3 (01:07:54):
Fellow on the ropes and down. Don Callous said a beast.
Speaker 1 (01:07:59):
He says his most effective weapon the dropkick, and I agree,
it's it's kind of what has gotten Kenny kind of
off his feet, no pun intended and just got him
down to the ground. Gott he's smartly hanging on the rope.
So though, because he senses a kind of behind him,
kind of go for the tombstone. He smiled right at
(01:08:20):
the camera.
Speaker 3 (01:08:20):
Did you see that?
Speaker 2 (01:08:22):
A spinning tombstone.
Speaker 3 (01:08:24):
That's he loves hitting those when he wants to finish
doing that jumping spin.
Speaker 2 (01:08:31):
It kind of takes about your ring awareness as.
Speaker 1 (01:08:33):
Well, smart get you kind of disoriented. Yeah, yeah, but
again he's not capitalizing. Clock's ticking down there a few
minutes left. You gotta capitalize you know, champion advantage for sure,
but you gotta capitalize, you gotta pin.
Speaker 3 (01:08:56):
I agree, Jeff. The basics are just. They add more
to the story.
Speaker 1 (01:09:02):
Like simple, simple little things such as the exhaustion, such
as the tiredness, such as not capitalizing on a move.
Speaker 3 (01:09:11):
It sucks you in. I mean, I know the result
of this match, but capitalized take the fucking pin.
Speaker 1 (01:09:15):
Like I can't read or issue, but I'm trying, Like,
come on, Omega, you gotta fucking pin him. It's like
the movie you're watching the other day, Billy Madison, you
get off your ass, you find that fucking dog, You
get off your ash.
Speaker 3 (01:09:31):
You fucking pin Oconna. Small package didn't work.
Speaker 2 (01:09:39):
They've got to have about two minutes.
Speaker 3 (01:09:41):
Oh, dropping to the side of the head into the ropes,
nad Jackson trying to get him back.
Speaker 2 (01:09:48):
Up, remaining.
Speaker 1 (01:09:53):
Fifty nine seconds for someone to hit their fish, for
someone to get a submission, for someone to.
Speaker 3 (01:10:00):
Get this match.
Speaker 2 (01:10:04):
It's just they can't even get to their feet.
Speaker 3 (01:10:08):
They're just fifty nine minutes in this ring, trying to.
Speaker 1 (01:10:13):
Best each other, both going one hundred miles now throwing
their best shots. Caught us literally crawling to Omega Omega's
holding onto the ropes. They're across the room with each
other like everything just to He just wants to hit
that ray Maker. He just wants to finish us. He
just wants that title. But Omega is not giving up easy.
He's stalling. He's laying down, he's being dead weight. He's
(01:10:35):
not gonna let him. Just pick him up and end
it easily. He got him though, He's got him, got
him by the waistband. He's got Oh, he holds onto
the ropes though. Smart thirty seconds remaining, one minute?
Speaker 2 (01:10:50):
Excuse me, Oh, I thought we were already at a minute. Sorry, guys,
they pretty much.
Speaker 3 (01:10:56):
I think they said over a minute, but I think
I heard a minute too. So half dragon.
Speaker 1 (01:11:02):
Either way, it's still sixty seconds left, skyhigh drop kick.
He's got the right maker, he got the right maker
inside out.
Speaker 2 (01:11:11):
But can he get up to capitalize this. He can't move.
Speaker 3 (01:11:15):
He's just laying there. He's so tired.
Speaker 2 (01:11:19):
You gotta get up and pack.
Speaker 3 (01:11:20):
Yeah, thirty seconds left.
Speaker 1 (01:11:24):
He hasn't moved. Neither men have moved. Is that twenty
seconds left? And he hasn't moved. He's crawling, he's just
reaching out. You're just trying to get a fingertip bottom
nine eight seven, six, five four three two one. My time,
(01:11:50):
he's up here and it's over a time limit draw.
A time limit sixty minutes has been reached. So the
second match in the Okada series is a draw. So
now it is one oh one. Okada is up.
Speaker 3 (01:12:09):
He has one win in the series, and both men
have a draw. It literally spells lol, it sucks. It's
a draw one oh one.
Speaker 1 (01:12:17):
But just what an absolutely insane match, What an absolutely
perfect match to kind of set up this rivalry further.
You have Wrestle Kingdom eleven. Both men went to the limit.
Kenny Omega was so close, but Kada got that raymaker,
(01:12:39):
he got that victory. You have this match where Ken
Omegan didn't go down as easy. Both men fought to
the point of literally passing out on.
Speaker 3 (01:12:45):
The ring and time limit elapsed. So now what do
you do.
Speaker 1 (01:12:51):
You're Kenny Omega, Now you're gonna be more obsessed. He's
gonna fall more than madness. He's chasing this title that
he didn't win. So now to ask you, Emily, your
thoughts on Omega Part two?
Speaker 2 (01:13:02):
So I think that part two is, do you remember
last week we talked about how they were showing so
many different versaal styles. It was a complete buffet. Yes,
I am not complaining this was not as much of
the buffet as the first match was. This match was
(01:13:22):
more hard hitting, more seeing who can get the finishing move,
who can get the upper end, whereas I feel the
last match again was like a mixture of different styles.
So this was definitely more hard hitting.
Speaker 3 (01:13:37):
So did you like this match better? More same?
Speaker 2 (01:13:40):
I don't have like a comparison on it, because, like again,
they put everything into it. There's it was a fantastic Yes,
it was.
Speaker 3 (01:13:49):
Again just like go to Corral last week you had Italian.
This week you had French. All right, I like that.
Speaker 2 (01:13:56):
No, give me the Bagetts never have a question.
Speaker 1 (01:14:00):
In France and France apparently. But I absolutely adored this match.
I remember the first time I watched it. It was
a few months before we even got together, and I
remember watching it. I think I will my poor brother
who had to work in the morning, because I was
watching this late at night, early in the morning, and
(01:14:20):
I just remember jumping.
Speaker 3 (01:14:21):
Are you fucking kidding me?
Speaker 1 (01:14:22):
When the bell rang, because I just wandered Omega to
get that belt because he was so close at Wrestle Kingdom,
and I was so invested.
Speaker 3 (01:14:30):
That's when I tell you about that exhaustion everything. I
was so invested.
Speaker 1 (01:14:34):
I was here, fucking thingker tipe away, come up, stop
sitting just when it can hook you in and you
start arguing with your fucking TV.
Speaker 2 (01:14:40):
You know.
Speaker 1 (01:14:41):
It's good storytelling. And I think both matches stand up
to me differently because of different ways. The first one
was just such a pageantry of wrestling and so beautiful,
Like you said, all the styles, this one is they're
going to war. They're fighting literally exhaustion. They just they
can't stand up. They just they can't finish because they
just give everything. So it's just they're telling a different story.
Speaker 3 (01:15:03):
They told it away.
Speaker 1 (01:15:04):
How do you top first match? You don't, So you
tell a story another way. I think it's a perfect way.
I don't think you can really Frankships. I mean, I
still will hold that first one a little bit higher,
just because of how it had to finish. I'm not
really a big fan of the draws, but I understand
why and what it leads into for one of the matches,
which I will spoil, it leads into another story. It
leads into another setup. But next week we're gonna be
(01:15:27):
going to part three, the g One Climax. Both meant
face off, but this time they only have a thirty
minute time ONMIT because it's a g One Climax match.
Both met her face off for the third time, and
we're gonna be kind of fast.
Speaker 3 (01:15:41):
Forwarding a little bit. I'm gonna go through some more history,
so I'll give you a little bit more rundown so
we speak. So final thoughts before I sign us off.
Speaker 2 (01:15:48):
So is it for a title next week?
Speaker 3 (01:15:50):
I'm not telling you. You'll have to wait and find out.
Speaker 2 (01:15:52):
Oh okay, guys, find it with me.
Speaker 1 (01:15:56):
