(01:10):
check out last week to inoculate it at the Port
Arthur Prison. Now let's continue to the boys, because this
is about to get real narve. It was closed when
the last convict was removed, and they said that was
in eighteen seventy seven, and the land, however, nothing was
really done to it except it was auctioned off in

(01:32):
the eighteen eighties.

Speaker 2 (01:34):
Okay, oh okay.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
But during the forty years that it was running ish
there was a plethora of death right which we've already
had figured out. There was a Robert Young who was
a twenty year old private who was devoted guard and
met his inn at the hands of a rowdy inmate,
which a lot sure.

Speaker 2 (01:54):
Yeah wait so oh oh I'm oh okay he was
he was like guarding prisoners.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Oh okay, okay, yeah, so this one had prison staff
and military staff. Gotcha like guards? Okay. A visitor to
the facility mentioned on Reddit that a tour guide referenced
a man who hung himself with the strings of a
hammock when in solitary confinement. Oh oh my god, I

(02:23):
gave him my hammock.

Speaker 2 (02:24):
Yeah, it was really bestirching it. Oh, I hadn't even
thought of that.

Speaker 3 (02:30):
It was the hammock just the bed instead of like
an actual That's what I was.

Speaker 2 (02:36):
Thinking, Selen, Are you for real like a hammock is
good for your back.

Speaker 3 (02:40):
Because it like supports all parts of your back at
least at least I'm I'm like eighty percent sure that
that is.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
I would lower that till sixty percent because I feel
like that's the curve that you're alone. I feel like
is not great. She's like it's great for like napping,
but as like, oh.

Speaker 3 (02:59):
It's wonderful for yes, I googled it. Okay, it is
great unless you have like spinal conditions, So if you
have like scoliosis and he sort of like.

Speaker 1 (03:10):
I got a bone out of place in my back, Yes,
I'm probably not, but yeah I was born that way.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
How was it saying for you and me that it
would probably be fine?

Speaker 1 (03:20):
I also have had it because it works, then it
is just for me.

Speaker 2 (03:27):
I guess that's weird. Honestly, I wouldn't have assumed. Yeah,
I was gonna go with Natasha's like Lady Gaga moment.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
I have fun with this later.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
With it right now?

Speaker 4 (03:42):
Yeah, yeah for the YouTube people, I was gonna say, yeah,
this out visual comedy.

Speaker 2 (03:53):
So gets on YouTube. Pieces of ship.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
Okay, so we have the guy hung himself. Oh we
left off.

Speaker 2 (04:03):
I forgot where we lived off.

Speaker 1 (04:04):
The recorded death tally of graves alone reached the ghastly
total of sixteen hundred and forty six in the Isle
of the Dead.

Speaker 2 (04:12):
Oh my god, Oh my god. That's a lot.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
And that's probably not even right.

Speaker 2 (04:17):
I was gonna say, it's probably more.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
It's probably more.

Speaker 2 (04:21):
I thought you were going to say, like maybe three
hundred oh wow, four digits, way.

Speaker 1 (04:26):
More than get ready, Matt, Oh god, this this graveyard
gathered the grizzly corpses of anyone who died on the
prison property. Did you like thatation for you?

Speaker 2 (04:38):
Yeah? Yeah, yeah. Oh.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
That being said, only one hundred and eighty were marked,
including the military personnel and staff. What wow, what, that's
what I said? All links for the description you can
back check me. At least the ones I found said
that there was only one hundred and eighty.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
All right, it's about to get dark again.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
It's about to get dark again.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
What As recent as recent as April twenty eighth, nineteen
ninety six, tragedy happened in the location and there was
a mass shooting, resulting oh unsuspecting individuals deaths and twenty
three were injured as a result of the incident, making
it the deadliest in Australian history.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
I will say to be fair, I feel like.

Speaker 1 (05:29):
To be fair too. Sorry, joke inside the joke.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
I was gonna say, yeah, we're inside the joke.

Speaker 1 (05:37):
The location hosts the Haunting Hodown every night.

Speaker 2 (05:41):
You're welcome again the Haunting Hodown.

Speaker 1 (05:45):
This is Australia, right, because what is this? It goes
It's hard, it's hard, it's hard. I came up with
a gathering that started with age. So holdel again, say
you're from the Midwest. From the Midwest. Those not two
terrified to tangle with the spirits reported being touched in
a room in the magistrate's house. Reports of that people

(06:05):
getting tapped or or pushed or mainly tapped. They were
getting tapped on a lot, but I must so. A
couple of people had said look closer. A lot of
people said that when they were like they were with
the group and someone's like, oh my gosh, like this
they touched me. They were like, can you re enact
it with me? And they were like yeah, that was
not like a just a gentle tap. It was like

(06:26):
a poke, like getting your attention.

Speaker 5 (06:28):
Yeah. Yeah.

Speaker 1 (06:30):
There have been apparitions and orbs caught on camera. Guides
at the facility report gut grabbing giggles. I don't know
why I came up with that. In a deserted play area.

Speaker 2 (06:42):
Okay, like a play place in the McDonald's.

Speaker 1 (06:45):
Yeah, because I guess there was. There was like a
boy's not a boy's house. It was like a boy's school,
which I'm sure it was not.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Grades the boys of mainland who had no family's orphans,
that's the word orphan. Bring them to Tasmania, teach them
how to be men and die for the righteousness of
that country.

Speaker 1 (07:15):
I feel like I just did notes or something on
something with orphans, and I'm sorry, I'm just like, why
am I I'm having really bad day? Ja vous one
of the two you must be thinking of?

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Batman? Yes, yes, Batman is.

Speaker 1 (07:27):
Oh I'm sorry you say Batman? Oh wait sorry. Another
common haunting that hails the halls of the facility as
a hat man.

Speaker 3 (07:35):
Shut no way, that's amazing, like steel hats. Yeah. I
hope he steals them.

Speaker 2 (07:48):
And I kind of do too.

Speaker 1 (07:50):
Another popular ghostly guest is something that you find in
pretty much every haunted place in a dress. This one
in particular is sporting an eighteen hundred's chic gray gown.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
Sor she's gray.

Speaker 1 (08:09):
Yeah wife, his wife.

Speaker 2 (08:15):
Think I've been haunting this place for like three generations
and all nobody will clean Madres. It's like brim gray.
Don't you give me that.

Speaker 1 (08:29):
He came out of the coal mine? Maybe?

Speaker 2 (08:31):
Oh no, that makes more sense. She was down there hard.

Speaker 1 (08:36):
She she's cold Manor's daughter. Sorry. No, I did see
one source that said there was a spirit of a
young boy that they said was waiting to be executed,
but no other information was given, and I don't really
understand where the kid would be, like where you would
come from. Either way, I just wanted to put that

(08:57):
out there. I don't know if it's real or not.
But many have reported unwarranted whispers in the darkness and
chills running down their spine. So just an overall uneasy feeling, yeah, hell, yes, hell,
and just people just you know, not feeling good. A
lot of investigators say that the parsonage is the most
haunted building on the grounds, and I mentioned that I'm

(09:21):
pretty sure the inmates built the parsonage.

Speaker 3 (09:28):
Of course they did.

Speaker 2 (09:29):
I will readily agree, but I will ask real quick,
what is a personage.

Speaker 1 (09:37):
I think it's like the church. So I think the
personage is the building that the pastor lives in.

Speaker 2 (09:45):
Oh okay, if.

Speaker 1 (09:46):
It to this day, they still have that. Like the
they might have a building that the church owns that
they're not using, so you can live as long as
you're the acting pastor.

Speaker 3 (09:55):
You have some sort of like living sort of facility,
whether it's like its own standing alone house versus like
an apartment type.

Speaker 1 (10:08):
I have no idea why I knew that.

Speaker 2 (10:12):
I genuinely had no idea what that meant.

Speaker 1 (10:17):
Look at that, yeah, exactly. That's what we'll get into
that later. In that building, in particular, a lot of
people have reported blindingly bright lights that are flashing, boisterous banging,
phantom footsteps, apparitions, supernatural strangulations. Oh god, I strangle. Maybe

(10:44):
it's the guy with the hammock. I don't know. So
you could be outside the building and people have reported
seeing like flashes inside, kind of like those that are
provided by old fashioned flash photography, you know, and they flash,
and seeing this from outside the building.

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Interesting could be gunshots could be like a muffled gunshot.
Is what they're also seeing? Is there like a Is
there like a mafia in the gunshot?

Speaker 1 (11:14):
Or the Tasmanian mob here. The following was printed in
eighteen ninety three, among a long list of other occurrences
in the house the new The Clipper newspaper, and it
was titled the Haunted Parsonage all Right, eighteen ninety three

(11:35):
The Clipper newspaper titled the Haunted Parsonage quote. On one
particular night, Missus Price was unable to sleep. Suddenly she
became conscious that somebody had entered her room, and, glancing
towards the door, beheld a human figure draped in white.
Her first thought was not to make a move or

(11:58):
to speak, but it struck her that the intruder might
be a burglar in disguise, intent upon robbing her of
her jewel case, and that to attract attention to herself
might possibly mean something serious against her life. She therefore
lay motionless, but with half open eyes followed the movements

(12:18):
of the supposed burglar. The mysterious figure, having entered the room,
went through the motion of striking a match upon the wall,
and immediately afterwards, there was an appearance of light as.

Speaker 2 (12:32):
After striking a match.

Speaker 1 (12:34):
Afterwards, there was the appearance of light as from a lucifer.
This done, It then made its way round the foot
of the bed to a cot in which one of
the children slept. For a moment, it stood looking at
the sleeping child, then turning around, glided silently out of

(12:55):
the room and was gone. I was literally reading that
as a quote, So that's why I came kind of weird.

Speaker 2 (13:04):
No, I think that her her like writing of that
is just not modern.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
It was very, uh, it was very eighteen ninety three,
you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (13:14):
Yeah, eighteen ninety three Tasmanian Island kind of speak.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
But seemly this woman there's somebody she thinks is coming in,
and she thinks of the rob of the place or whatever,
but in reality it's actually, uh, some dude, like it
might be a ghost.

Speaker 3 (13:32):
Oh yeah, it sounds like it looks like lighting a
candle or something like.

Speaker 2 (13:38):
I was thinking of a burglar.

Speaker 3 (13:39):
Who I am.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
I was thinking of a dude who's like smoking a
cigar and he's like lighting up a thing. And she's like,
oh now, I did even say him.

Speaker 1 (13:46):
Coming well, My thing was it's dark, so she's just
assuming it lit a match. Baby, It just it has
that light.

Speaker 6 (13:53):
Oh yeah, Hello, I'm Alan Ark, private investigator of the
strange and supernatural.

Speaker 5 (14:04):
On my new show Mysteria Arcana, I opened my case
files into the Paranormal. I investigate allegedly true accounts of hauntings, cryptids, aliens,
and the unexplained. If you're drawn to the mysterious, come
explore Mysteria ar Kana streaming now wherever you get your

(14:26):
podcasts now.

Speaker 1 (14:34):
I'm not sure how absolutely thank you guys for your contributions.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
It's not like they had light anywhere. Matches back then.
They were like on the box, you know, yeah, but
if you're a ghost, you just yeah, illuminate. What if
having a cigar was like part of their ghostly visage, Well, it's.

Speaker 1 (14:57):
Like, you know, I don't want them to think I'm
a ghost, so I'm gonna allow to cigar and they'll
just think that I am, like, look at a cigar.

Speaker 2 (15:03):
That's my favorite where they're like natural, Look, we'll get
a cigar.

Speaker 3 (15:10):
I'm more hug up on the fact that she saw
them in all white and was like they're automatically robbing
the place and it's like in disguise.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
Yeah. One, oh my gosh. One investigator also mentioned hot
it happenings in the Oh my gosh Commandan's cottage, a
lot of EMF readings, feeling of residual energy, coherent Q
and A sessions using em F readers. They would put
one em F reader on like one side of a bed,
the other on the other. One was yes, one was no.

(15:40):
Now I wouldn't be the host that I am. Without
mentioning the skepticism surrounding the reports, right, I like to
look at it from all angles here. Yeah, many believe
it goes okay, okay, many I believe that a lot
of the hauntings people experience were not hauntings at all.
Go figure. They attribute the apparitions to a pregame pep talk.

(16:04):
The tour guides give prior to the pilgrimage through the
areas like that. Let me read that again for you.
They attribute the apparitions to the pregame pep talk. Tour
guides give prior to the pilgrimage through the areas.

Speaker 2 (16:17):
Which to me is like they're giving a pep talk
to the spirits with like, look, we've got a group
coming through. They are expecting a certain show.

Speaker 1 (16:25):
Okay, you know it's you're going and you're gonna see
They keep talking about you're gonna see a blue triangle.
You're gonna see a blue triangle. You might not actually see,
but you think you're seeing a blue triangle because they
told you there.

Speaker 2 (16:38):
I literally thought it was them prepping the ghost.

Speaker 3 (16:43):
No.

Speaker 2 (16:44):
Yeah, they're they're loading like the mind. Oh yeah, yeah,
people are they're expecting this put on a show.

Speaker 1 (16:54):
Yeah no, no, no, no no. This is like, you know,
it's kind of like when you go and they're like, you,
you know, this woman lived here and she died and
all these people see her spirit and she's doing this.
She's well and she's cry and then so you think
that you're seeing these things or you're hearing different things
that might be a creaky floor or dripping water, and

(17:16):
you automatically assume it's something ghostly anyway, So that.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
Guy, this is a human psychology thing where they're like
priming the people going through to see stuff.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
Funny you should mention psychology because others offer up the
far too popular theory that as humans, we are predisposed
to see faces where there are not any aka paradolia. Sure, Okay,
So other poopours point the proverbial filangy at infrared sound

(17:47):
that causes a lot of people to experience different things.
So apparently the architecture and location may invoke low frequency
waves that could create pressure sensations, potential visual hallucinations, and
an overall feeling of uneasiness.

Speaker 6 (18:08):
Interesting.

Speaker 2 (18:09):
Definitely the last one, for sure.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Some other skeptics also say that the mist that people
see on their cameras and such and random lights can
be attributed to the surrounding beaches, although I'm not really
sure how a beach would have anything to do with
lights inside a building.

Speaker 2 (18:25):
I yeah, maybe not the lights I could understand, like
the mist and the moisture. But yeah, a beach is
not going to create lights, that's for sure.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
But that, my friends, is Port Arthur Prison.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
Yeah. I like that.

Speaker 1 (18:46):
Do you guys have anything to have you ever heard
of this place before?

Speaker 2 (18:50):
I have, I've not even close to like Tesni. Yeah,
I mean I've heard about Australia were definitely on the mainland,
I've I don't think of anything. I would have never
assumed that there was like a Tasmanian version of Alcatraz.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
Yep, Well I saw it. I was like, oh, that's interesting,
and I started digging and dig in. I'm like, this
has got a lot to it. The one thing that
I do not like about it is it was very
difficult for me to find for such a place or
a place that is supposedly so haunted, it was very
difficult for me to find first hand encounters or what

(19:26):
exactly people see or hear or experience while they are there.
It was it was a lot harder for me to
find that. A lot of places, there's all kinds of
reports like Alcatraz for exists example that you always find it,
oh we see this ghost, and this ghost is this,
and the spirit does that, and this taps here and
taps there, and evp's here, and you know, there's all

(19:47):
of that there, And for this one, it was kind
of hard to dial it in. And I don't know
if it's because of where it's at, maybe not as
many report it.

Speaker 2 (19:56):
Yeah, that's what I was thinking, Like the idea that
tes uh not tes any. Alcatraz is separate but still
very close to a highly populated area. So even if
you're not necessarily like getting recordings or whatever, you're going
to have people returning to their communities, to the mainland

(20:16):
whatever and telling stories and everything. Yeah, whereas I feel
like like even the mainland of Australia, as big as
it is, a lot of it is really widespread and
just sort of vacant, like kind of desert land. Yeah.
And so we we have still it feels like it's
been around for a while, but we have we're still

(20:37):
fairly new to the idea of everyone having a camera
and a video, you know, recording device in their.

Speaker 1 (20:44):
Posts eighteen originally well right, right, So.

Speaker 2 (20:49):
I imagine that as as much as the land is
sparse even today, that like the stories from back in
the eighteen hundreds would not spread very far, very quickly.
So yeah, so like a lot of it is just
rumors that they heard from people and not a lot

(21:10):
of concrete, like first person perspectives.

Speaker 1 (21:13):
Yeah. And I did see in a couple places that
were like, yeah, the weird happening started like as soon
as it closed its doors. It's not like it was
a new haunting thing that happened, you know, like, oh,
it's just being reported now. I mean people were reporting,
but they weren't reporting it now. Granted that that newspaper
article was from what when, I say, eighteen ninety three

(21:35):
or something, So that's still twenty about twenty years after
the place closed, and it's in the newspaper.

Speaker 2 (21:42):
Right and well before any kind of like mainstream like
before telephones and radios and shit.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
So it's like for spooky stuff was popular, right, right.

Speaker 2 (21:53):
Right exactly. Yeah, so's it's a story that is spreading
before we had any kind of like widespread yeah news
coverage kind of thing. Yeah, so it's this is a
story that is strong enough and prominent enough that even
in like ancient times before you know, modern communication. Yeah,

(22:14):
that it was a story that, yeah, that was strong
enough that it spread amongst the community.

Speaker 1 (22:18):
And maybe there weren't as many accounts because all the
people that would have reported it or did report it
were in the lunatic asylum.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
There's always that they were like, yeah, they're in essentially
like a penal colony, and they want to get out.
So it might behoove them to be like, hey, I
saw this crazy, creepy shit, and they're like, well, we've
got to get them into the newspaper immediately. They can't
be island anymore. Yeah, we got to get.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
There that was funny. I like puffed up my famia, dude,
and I was like trying to like blow it out
here because I know, like if it's like an Instagram
clip or something like, they don't like it. So I
was going like this and it goes hide. Now hide,
I'm hiding. I did see most of the accounts that
I found were all they were all paranormal investigators originally

(23:06):
going on these tours, and they did say that they
have them essentially like every night you can go whatever,
but on the first Saturday of every month they have
like an additional haunt. I don't know if that's it
overnight or it didn't give a lot of other just
every first Saturday.

Speaker 2 (23:25):
So what I what I guess the most pertinent question
then is do all of us have a current passport?

Speaker 1 (23:35):
No? I need one, though, I just need you know,
we can't all flee to Russia and fit in.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
No, but we can go to Tasmania and visit a
haunted penal colony making a joke.

Speaker 1 (23:48):
As long as that's me.

Speaker 2 (23:52):
Look look them, Umi of yours does not always translate
properly to Russian. Do not try to butter me up. Okay,
as far.

Speaker 1 (24:02):
As do not try to butter my bread.

Speaker 2 (24:05):
Yes, exactly, Look I understand.

Speaker 1 (24:07):
What's fun wrong at the whole point.

Speaker 2 (24:11):
Look one in the exactly, but look, biscuits in Russia
are very hard to come by, so exactly, look, look
my cookie has not been buttered for a long time. Okay,
so like the light, I was gonna say, light, exactly,
Look butter butter is also often firm and cold in Russia.

(24:36):
But you know, if you could warm it up and
make it a little bit slippery, that.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
You've gone dirty or something.

Speaker 2 (24:46):
You talking about dirty, I'm just talking about the butter
becoming warm and slippery. Is nothing wrong. Ball Light gets it.
This guy fucking love. He's like, dude, I totally get
the warm butter thing. I'm like, of course it doesn't ex.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Oh my goodness, going to be upset when we close up.
I know.

Speaker 3 (25:15):
That'd be very sad.

Speaker 1 (25:16):
He goes on the shelf.

Speaker 6 (25:18):
Mm hmmm.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
I can see you're on the shelf.

Speaker 2 (25:21):
He's like, why am I we stuck back here? I
want to be involved in the warm butter?

Speaker 1 (25:24):
Come on, No, It's like straight up like I could
feel it back here, and it's like all my muscles
on one side of my Yeah, He's like, yes, I am.
Literally feels like you know when you get a sore,
like your muscle cramps. Yeah, it feels like that from
like my shoulder all the way down to like my
hip on this side. It's like, yeah, uncomfortable.

Speaker 2 (25:45):
He's like, look, I want some warm butter.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
Okay, yeah, give you that warm buttering the rest of
my butter on dinner tonight.

Speaker 2 (25:54):
And then the ball of light is like, is euphemism?
Is that with them? Will I may just be a
bull of lights yourself. Look, I have not had a
warm buttered taco in a long time. Okay, I will
take it. Will take a whole mouthful of one butter taco.

(26:16):

Speaker 1 (26:23):
It's it's pretty intense, if you know.

Speaker 2 (26:28):
I have seen Marvel movies. I like Black Widow and
Frostistos one, the realsky spy thing, no lights.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
The irony is the fact that I do have red
hair and my name is Natasha.

Speaker 2 (26:44):

Speaker 1 (26:48):
I actually did take ballet. I did.

Speaker 2 (26:55):

have you seen her Instagram with the guy and what's
a girl? A gamer girl? And she's got like, you
know whatever.

Speaker 3 (27:26):
Yes, exactly what you're talking about.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
It's a man dressed as a woman and he makes
a bunch of money as a gamer girl. But he's
actually a Russian and he'll be like, I'm Asian ment
and it's like.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
My favorite is because he talks in like this really
cute voice.

Speaker 1 (27:43):
It's like, oh my gosh, can you tell and he's
like Russian. You're like, whoa, he is hilarious. Oh my god,
he was great. He's great.

Speaker 2 (28:11):
I'm okay, I would like to play video game for
you for being.

I just hurt my hip. I'm old. It was like crack.
I was like, oh.

Speaker 2 (28:43):
My god. The number of times that I like get
up in the morning and I'm like, all right, another day.
And then you hear your knees just sort of pop.

Speaker 1 (28:49):
Like turn it on. Yeah, oh, just just your knees.
Mom's more like I sound like a Rice crispyeople when
like you'd think that I was some kind of like
jacked up Marionette or something, you know.

Speaker 2 (29:00):
It's like, oh, I mean that is pretty cool.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
I've fallen and kick it up.

Speaker 2 (29:05):
Yeah, you need a life alert.

Speaker 1 (29:06):
It's for real.

Speaker 2 (29:08):
And then all the ghosts are just standing.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
There like it's a weak Yeah bitch, yeah.

Speaker 2 (29:14):

attached to you, so they just have to follow you
to work and stuff.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
This is what I have to do when I go
to work because I work at the funeral home. I
I do work. Oh you didn't know that. I did
not know that.

Speaker 5 (29:29):
And home.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
So when I talk to everybody like they're still there,
and but I do like I go do removals and
stuff like that if somebody passes. But then I also
work at the funeral home three days a week. We're
gonna put attack in this. We're gonna put attack, attack
in this for like two seconds. Okay, we're gonna go
