Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello everyone, and welcome to I Tech twenty three forty
Introduction to Cybersecurity. Have you ever stopped to wonder what
truly happens to your personal information when you click I
agree to an online privacy policy, or how the digital
locks and alarms we rely on every day are designed
and maintained. The invisible but essential practice of protecting our
digital world is cybersecurity, and it's exactly what we're here

(00:23):
to explore. This is a subject I'm incredibly passionate about
because once you understand these core principles, you'll never interact
with technology the same way again. Over the next few weeks,
we're going to pull back the curtain and investigate how
data is protected, how threats are identified, and what it
takes to build a secure digital environment. Our goal is

(00:44):
to demystify this critical field and give you a clear
understanding of the genius at work behind our online defenses.
This course is structured a bit differently. Instead of a
traditional weekly lecture, this podcast will be our primary guide.
We're using this format because it offers you the flexibility
to learn when and where it's best for you. You
can listen on your commute, at the gym or simply

(01:05):
pause and rewind whenever a concept needs a second pass. Now,
with that in mind, I want to take a moment
to clarify the role of the textbook for this course.
While this podcast will be your guide, it isn't tied
to a specific text page by page. For all of
your required readings and assignments, we will be using open
source information that is available directly within our D two

(01:26):
L course. Think of the course materials as your detailed
reference manual. While the podcast will explain the core concepts
and tell the stories, the online readings will provide the
in depth diagrams and formal definitions essential for mastering the material.
You can find all these details written out in the
syllabus as well, So your first step is to head

(01:46):
over to D two L and carefully review that syllabus.
It has everything you need to know about our schedule
and assignments. Once you've done that, you'll be ready to
jump into our first content episode. I'm genuinely looking forward
to exploring this material with you. Let's have a great semester.
