Dangerously Yours was a half hour show sponsored by Vicks. There were sixteen episodes broadcast in 1944, with eleven of them available to collectors today. Each episode seemed to star Victor Jory as the leading man, and concentrated heavily on romance, with much airtime being devoted to lovers murmuring sweet nothings at each other, and the action and adventure being relegated to backdrop status. At the end of each episode, the announcer would give a very brief teaser for the following week's show.

Vix, makers of Vix Vapor Ruband Vix Nosdrops presents Dangerously Yours, a
half hour of romance and adventure starringVictor Jury in Windwood Passage. Here's a
good thing to remember when you catcha cold. The best known home remedy
for relieving miseries of coals is VixVapor Rub. And now I am adventure

(00:34):
in my name. Men of Travis, the highways, the byeways, the
skyways of the world. I amthe challenge of the unknown, the lure
the seas, the haunting call ofthe North Wind. I am dangerously yours
today walk the decks with a manwhose name was the Terror, the Spanish

(00:55):
Maid, a man who filled hisship with Spanish to bloons, and whose
gowl made brave men tremble. HenryMorgan, buccaneer of the Windward Passage.
Captain Morgan, what do you want, Roken Road? What's the delay?

(01:15):
You're hurting me? Get the auditof fire? Aye, Sir, I
did, but yon ship is English. The crew don't like it, nor
do I. We signed on tofight the Spanish. Who is in command?
Here? You are, sir,But we're already in disrepute with Sir
Thomas Mordiford, the governor of Jamaica. And if we take an English ship,
it's it's piracy, sir. Anotherbe piracy, and it's the Mordiford.
I'm sick of him. He's hadhis share of every prize we've taken,

(01:37):
and yet last week he hung fourof my crew. Haken, are
your guns laid? Then? Fire? Yes? Come in? Now what's

(01:57):
the cargo? Broken road? Wasit worth our while? The ship was
the Amorillas Captain fifty four days outof Falmouth for Jamaica. The master's name
was Davis. He'd a crew ofthirty five and stole the details. Mister,
I asked you what she carried?I was coming to that, sir.
Her cargo was mostly cloth goods andbarreled pork pork, but there was
also five hundred guineas in gold andwhat and a lady, sir, A

(02:22):
lady aye, sir, The ladyJudith Lacy bound for Jamaica. She says
to marry Governor Thomas Mardifort. Well, I'll be ha ha a lady to
marry Mardiford. Fate smiles on us, broken rude. Here is our revenge
on the governor, begging your pardon, sir. We we have no actual
proof that Mardifort has betrayed us.No four of my men rotting on gibbets

(02:43):
are proof enough for me. Hedamns me with his right hand while he
robs me with his left. Heorders me to attack the Spanish, and
then writes the king that he can'tcontrol me. And now we have his
bride. Bring the woman in,mister, let's have a look at her.

(03:09):
You sent for me, I askedyou if you sent for me.
Can't you see I'm writing writing?Well, that's quite an accomplishment for a
pirate. Do you also read Ihave hung men who provoke me? My
lady, and I have no particularobjection to hanging a woman. Your sons,
though you might enjoy it. Iwish you'd light a lantern so I

(03:30):
could see you. You should, you know it's very bad for your eyes
writing in this dim light. You'revery considerate. Why that's me Aladdin?
Are you? Lady Judith Lacy?Yes, sir, all right, I'm
Captain Henry Morgan. Well, well, Captain Henry Morgan. Just fancy that,
and it used to be just Henry. And let me see your parents

(03:53):
if I Remember were honest, guardingfolk of Glamorganshire. And when you were
a boy you love birds and flowersI'm talking about. You had a roving
eye for the little girls of theshire. What in particular, I'm surely
Henry, you've not forgotten Judith Braywho played with you and your father's orchard,
Judith Bray, Judith Bray, Giveme hold it close to my face,

(04:26):
Henry. Look well, Judith BrayEs. You must have known we'd
meet again sometime somewhere, although avery long time ago I used to hope
we would. What did we callabout that night you ran away from grim
Morganshire, your bad temper if Iremember I was only a lad at the
time. You were seventeen and thehandsomest boy in the shire. So this

(04:50):
is what you've been doing these pastfifteen years. You're married, your lady
Lacy, Yes, I married. His name was George Ncy, a kind
and very honorable gentleman. He diedtwo years ago. Why did you run
away, Henry? Well, Iwanted to be on the sea and I
want to get away from you.I was beginning to think about you too

(05:13):
much. Some women gnawed a man'sheart, but you gnawd his brains and
his insides as well. Were youin love with me, Henry, I
always wondered. I used to praythat you were first when you were there,
because I wanted to make you happy, and later after you were gone,
because I wanted to make you unhappy. I had great hopes for you,

(05:34):
Henry. I thought you were bornto stand high in the world.
I do stand high in the world. High. You can say that to
me when I find you lurking inthe windward passage for a helpless ship and
a woman. You, while you'rea cutthroat and a scoundrel, you who
could be great, are something tospit on. It's fortunate for you were
alone, Judith. If my menwere here, I i'd have to hang

(05:57):
you for that speed. You can'tfrighten me, Henry, by you stupid
oaf. My mother used to patchthe seat of your ragged britches out of
fitty for you. Go on,hang me if I anger you, it'll
give you a good evening. Sportbroken road, Ah, Sir, call
all hands, Ralph, and thenhang this woman to the yard arm hang
her, sir, yes, hangup, and Lady Liza Owell send the

(06:20):
rope in the lock of your headto that sniveling modifort of yours. Sir
Thomas. Yes, you didn't knowI knew about that, did you?
Oh? I didn't. You're noteven as smart a pirate as I thought
you were. But since you feelthat way about Sir Thomas, why don't
you set a price on my deliveranceand let him ransom me. I'm no
good to you, dead captain. The lady has an idea. Maybe this

(06:43):
is the chance we've been waiting for. Perhaps this is the means of getting
the ships and the men to sackPanama. Panama. Yes, Panama,
the richest city in the New World, the pride of Spain. I'll say,
you captain ships and provisions in exchangefor the lady. You'd make such
a trade for a fling at Panama, wouldn't you. Here? So I'd
make such a trade for a flingat Panama. But not for the mercy

(07:04):
of this woman or the gratitude forEngland. No love for Tom mother Fred.
I'd have scary treatment from them all. But when pieces of eight and
jewels lie waiting to be shoveled up, I'm the man for the spade.
Is this then a reprieve? Yes, for the present. Then I owe
you no thanks for my life, and I shall offer none. And now,

(07:25):
if you don't mind, it's becomevery stuffy in here, I'll go
back to my cabin. Good evening. You look very beautiful with your hair

(07:47):
down. Get out of my cabin. Is it your usual habit to under
a lady's room without knocking? Yes, for lady leaves her door unbolded.
But you want I just thought i'dinquire how you fared. We're almost to
Jamaica, will be in port bymorning, and your shoulders are even softer
than I remembered, Judith, you'reangry or even more beautiful cabin without what

(08:09):
I came for? A kiss?Would you kiss a woman against her will
and enjoy it? Are you clumsy? Oath? You're murdering pirate. You
may force a kiss upon me,but you won't enjoy it. You like
me to kiss you once? Yes, once I did, But you are
a different thing you had charmed fora woman. You're a cold baggage.
I hope, I am. Iwant to be. I stuck my fingers

(08:31):
in the fire once and got burnedpretty badly. I made up my mind,
that would never happen again. Yousee, I fell in love with
an ambitious man who had no timefor love. That was Lacy, I
suppose no, his name was Morgan. And now, if you'll excuse me,
I bit you. Good night.Your burns healed, I agreed,

(08:52):
yes, but the scars are thereto keep me from making the same mistake
twice. Now get out of here, because if you touch me, I'll
scratch your ese out. Very well. Good night, Good afternoon, Governor

(09:24):
Modifut. It's a pleasure to bein Jamaica again, and it is an
honor to have you aboard my ship. My visit is no honor, Captain
Morgan. I'm here in response toyour note if you were harm to on
ahead of leaded you to this head, I not only see you hang,
I see you drown and quarter. Not so fast, your excellency, not

(09:46):
so fast. The lady has notbeen harmed, nor will be if we
can reach an agreement. What doyou mean? What do you want?
Something you should also want? Yousee? I plan to take Panamore and
a treasure that the Mounsters ten millionpounds. I want twenty ships, proditions
for two thousand men. For threemonths, five thousand bells of powder and

(10:07):
several thousand flint loss. You're mad, You're absolutely mad. No, remember
when your account consider it. It'stoo great a risk. I see.
All right, then, Lady Judithstays with me. Don't be a fool.
Other terms can be arranged. I'mafraid not, your excellency. Every
an hour, let us examine thisproposition of yours a bit more closely.

(10:31):
Let us hear your plan for capturingthe city. Good. We'll attack my
land here. Let me show youon the map. You see, we'll
start from Jamaica. He is waitingfor you, he's paying the ransom.

(10:56):
He is. You're free to go. Have you ever thought what your life
is going to be like? Marriedto that man? Mordiford's lumbago, Modiford's
bad temper, Modiford's flabby punch isnot knees his flat feet. It'll be
a steady diet of pale skim milk, my dear, pale skimmed milk.
One diet's according to one's taste.Captain, Now get out of you,

(11:16):
Not this time, my dear,Oh no, not this time. This
time, I'll have my kiss.I want you to go to Mordiford,
remembering it. Get away from meyour hands. Oh, I've got you,
I've got you, you, youhag. Isn't it strange how deeply
two people can hate one another andstill be so terribly in love alone.

(11:39):
If you can't deny it, yourlips have already given you away. Are
Judith? Stay with me? Don'tleave you, stay darling. Once I
said stay two, but you went, I'd not do it. Now let
me pause, Henry very well, you can go to that pale, fat,
little pimple on the face of Jamaica. I'll take him for I'll take
a pirate, then take him, take him and forget me if you can.

(12:01):
I was able to forget you oncewhen I was ill with the sight
and the sound of you. Thistime I'll forget you as soon as you're
gone. I've learned the neck.Have you. Good day, Captain Henry
Morgan. Do send me a sumof kanama your head would be most acceptable
if it could be arranged. Goodday, my lady. I hope I

(12:22):

Panama yet? No? No,But he's just a bad ready. I'm
worried about that little clan. Thatthere's talk that England and Spain may be

My old modifant is even duller thanI suspected. I don't know how you
stand. I'm not interested in youropinion, Judith. I didn't come here
to match whis with you. II can't seem to get you out of
my mind. At night, Istared through the dark and see your face.
I shut my eyes. You're stillthere through the day. It's the

(15:28):
same. You've made me into amoon struck schoolboy. Oh, Judith,
maybe you forgot that kiss, butI can't get it out of my mind,
Henry, Judith, Judith, youcan't marry Modify, You can't.

(15:52):
I tell you I'll kill him first, Old Judith, you do love me,
don't you. I never stopped lovingyou, Henry. I tried to
stop, but I couldn't. Thenwill you wait for me until I get
back from Panama? Can I sailtonight knowing you'll wait for me sail to

but at the end of it,if we win, there are enough
riches to last us all the restof our lives. Are there any among
you who are faint hearted? Novery well? Then the pail leaves ship
within the hour, Thomas, isthe news of Morgan. Nothing beyond the

(17:26):
last despatched the city was fighting hisway over the end. I wish I'd
never listened to the men. It'sgoing to be the very different to pain
now that England and Spain is atpeace. If he should feel, he'll
not feel. Judith, why you'regoing to desited date from our wedding soon,
Thomas, Soon when I'm feeling better, Captain Morgan, we can't go

(17:59):
only muscle. We've had little foodfor days. Everyone's weak from hunger and
sick from heat and insect bites.I'm going back. You've no right to
keep us from going back. Thereare others beside myself who want to return.
Then go, you'll cowards. Thebrave will keep on you see,

(18:22):
the men were starving to die.Yes, my lady and when Morgan began
feeding us leather bags, we figuredit was time to quit. And you
think that he that they're all dead. I'm certain of it, ma'am.
Those who didn't die of fever orwounds are running somewhere in the jungle right
now. Morgan didn't have any morechance of reaching Panama than a bit of

(18:42):
fat no griddle. I pray you'rewrong, Oh, I pray you're wrong.
Captain. Look down there, they'vemassed their armies in front of the

(19:03):
city gates. It's sure side togo down there. Maybe maybe not.

Move into my library. I'll joinyou in a moment. I'm a

(21:21):
Henry, Henry, how proud Iam of you? Proud? How did
you made a fool of me?I ate my heart out, wanting to
get back to you. I broughtyou more gems than all the queens of
Europe possess. I hope that weightsinks you down to the deepest pits of
hell. I will Henry. Theytold me you were dead. We're sure
i'd failed one or you thought Mortifawould be a safer choice and you'd be

(21:42):
a governor's wife. You wanted tobe the governor's wife, didn't you,
Henry, You hurting my arm.I want to hurt you, lying,
cheating little foe, Henry. Iloved you, I still love you.
If you still want me, I'llmarry you. I'll go anywhere with you.
Don't you understand I thought you weredead. It didn't matter who I
married or what became of me ifyou were dead. I'm sorry. I
have listened to your blasture. Wnever wanted me. I know that now.

(22:03):
You wanted a strong back in aweek head to do your butchery so
you and Motherfi could be seized ingold. And that's what the folk at
court. Ain't you heard of yourmother? Of my mind? I'm saying,
for the first time since I seteyes on you, I'll show your
har man ax don't even torn cinand two by a pretress. Win he
wraps the eyes. A man seeshim. All right, take your up.

(22:26):
Look look that man up. Puthim in a dungeon. I send
him back to England. Denians forthis. Oh him, don't get him
a scape beIN make sure of that. I won't even try to escape.
Morford, kill me if you like. I don't particularly care. Now perhaps
it's time I died. Oh no, no, Morgan, I'm not going
to kill you. I'm sending youback to the king, and I hope

(22:49):
he tortures you will before he hangsyou. Look at the marks on you.
Just thrill. I wish I'd killed. Don't think England will be keen
to you. You you're going therenot only to answer if you're attack on
Judith, but for your lawless andunwarranted attack on the city of Panama.
Entertain when peace existed between England andSpain. I have your papers which authorized

(23:11):
it, the forgednedies. Do youthink anyone will take your word against Maimona?
I see the fortunes. No,Morgan, You're going to answer for
an attack which, in the eyesof His Majesty, will be looked upon
as as common piracy, and we'llbegin with as such. You will die
for that, Henry Morgan, indisgrace and dishonor your majesty. I am

(23:38):
your humble servant and loyal subject,Henry Morgan. Are you aware that you
are charged with enough crames to hangyou three times over? Yes, sire,
But I have hanged enough Spaniards toknow how to act on the scaffold
when my turn comes. You seemto resume yourself to the gibbet already.
Why I was told by the Governorof Jamaica that it would be my fate.

(23:59):
A holl at modifis restraint in sendingyou to me, considering that you
attempted to murder his bride. Tellme is she beautiful? Beautiful? Sire
ah? Yes, she's beautiful andyou love her? No, no,
sire, I do not tet Morganthe truth? Please, Yes, sire

(24:21):
I do love her. I hopeperhaps you did. Why did you attack
Panama for gold and for glory, the honor and the renown of England,
to make England great in the NewWorld and great to posterity, so that
her gracious king might go down inhistory crowned with Laurel as the man who
humbled Spain. Captain Morgan in yourGreek zeal you have perhaps gone beyond the

(24:47):
bones of political expedience, but yourdevotion to your country cannot be questionable,
nor can your leadership and courage inthe face of forces far outnumbering your own.
England needs men of your kill.We hope the peace between England and
Spain will be a lasting one, which makes it imperative that the activities of
all buccaneers and pirates cease forthwith.I can think of no one better able

(25:14):
to disperse such activities than you.Do you agree, I, Sire?
If I had the authority, Ithink I can scatter all the pirates and
buccaneers to the four winds like aflock of crows Wuel's head. In that
authority you shall have new and nowarise, Sir Henry Mordan, And may

(25:37):
the trust that I repose in yoube held sacred until death. The return
to Jamaica forthwith and take up yourduties as Lieutenant Governor, losing no time
in dispersing these nests of freebooters.Sire, my gratitude as deep, but
I humbly begged that I be sentelsewhere for the serf under Sir Thomas Mudiford
would be intolerable. Sir Thomas isbeing recalled to actor's bay, lift to

(26:00):
a very small and obscure prison. You're a rascal, Morgan, but I
like you and I think you'll serveme well. You can depend on that,
sire. Noel Morgan, Just onething, that girl. I can't
give you two running around loose. One of you would always be tracking down
the other with blood in your eyes. There are really only two solutions,

(26:22):
execution or marriage. Now. Idon't like the former because I've already knighted
you and it would make me looka little silly to execute you. So
I'm afraid that leaves only one alternative. You'll attend to that, Morgan,
Yes, sire, you may restassured. I'll attend to that well,
if you'd like to attend to it. Now, I think you'll find the

(26:45):
lady on the other side of thatdoor. I had a little talk with
her too. Should us oh shoulder, Oh, Henry, my darling,

(27:21):
what do you think is the bestthing to do when the children catch calls?
Well, you hear about all sortsof things, but it's a fact
that The modern way most young mothersuse to relieve miseries of their children's calls
is to rub on Vic's vapor rub. And here's the reason. The moment
you rub on vapor rub, itstarts to work to bring grand relief.
Results are so gratifying because vapor rubpenetrates penetrates into the upper breathing passages with

(27:48):
its special medicinal vapors, and atthe same time vapor rub stimulates stimulates chest
and back surfaces like a comforting warmingpoultice. Then for hours, penetrating stimulating
action of vapor rub keeps on workingto help relieve coughing spasms, muscular soreness
or tightness, congestion, and irritationin the upper bronchial tubes. It invites

(28:11):
RESTful sleep and often most of themisery of the cold is gone overnight.
Remember, the best known home remedyfor relieving miseries of children's goals is vix
vapor rub. I am at fetcher. Next week meet a man who matched
his wits against the enemy and occupiedFrance. The daring spiled assignment in Brittany

(28:37):
until next week. Then I amdangerously yours. Our script was written by
