Speaker 1 (00:01):
Hello listeners, and welcome back to another episode of Dark
Deed's podcast. This is a terrifying case where a mother
was murdered and then her daughter suffered a similar fate
just twelve years later. This is the case of Marilyn
he Noll and Lisa Marieve Alasquez. Marilyn he Noll was
(00:47):
born on March thirteenth, nineteen sixty nine. She resided in
the Bronx, New York. She came from a family that
was very close and tight knit. She attended school at
PS twenty nine. Marilyn was a happy, friendly and bright person.
She was always very well dressed and well taken care of.
Marilyn had a very good group of friends. When she
was at PS twenty nine. Her best friend was Lynn.
(01:10):
Lynna had just moved there and Marilyn had helped her
to get her footing at this new school and made
her more comfortable. Marilyn's mother and grandmother would often visit
the school in their lunch breaks to see her and
her friend Lynn. Marilyn's mother was always very caring and
kept a watchful eye over Marilyn and her friends. In
junior high, Marylyn tried to stay away from negative influences
such as drugs and drinking, but Lynn found it hard
(01:33):
to navigate in middle school.
Speaker 2 (01:35):
The two eventually grew apart as.
Speaker 1 (01:37):
Lynn moved schools, and they still hung out, but not
as much so. They would kind of run into each
other at stores on the street, but a lot of
these smaller businesses eventually closed and they didn't run into
each other as much. The last time Lynn ran into
Marilyn was in the year two thousand. Marilyn met and
started dating a man named Robert Cokeley. Robert had been
(01:58):
arrested for starting robberies and being involved with drugs. Marilyn
had three children from a different relationship at this time.
Marylyn's children were afraid of Robert Cokeley, as he was
very mean and vulgar to them. Police were called to
their home for domestic disputes multiple times due to Robert's
starting them. Cokeley was taking Marylyn's public assistance money. He
(02:20):
would show up at her home at the beginning of
the month when she got her checks, and he would
take the money. In March of two thousand and six,
Marylyn was pregnant with Robert's child. She was nine months
pregnant and close to giving birth. At this time, Robert
was still living with Marylyn, and then they had broken
up before she was about to give birth and he
(02:41):
had went back to his wife. So Robert had still
been married at this time, but he was separated from
his wife during the time he was in the relationship
with Marylyn, but they had broken up and then he
had went back to his wife before she was to
give birth. Marilyn cut off all financial assets from Robert,
and this severely enraged him. Marilyn had an appointment for
(03:04):
her baby on March thirtieth, two thousand and six, and
her mother was with her and she took her to
her appointment and she dropped her off back home. Robert
and his wife Maria showed.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Up at Marylyn's Tongue.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
Robert told Marilyn they wanted access to her cards for
her money. Robert's wife held a lot of jealousy due
to Marilyn being pregnant to Robert, so Maria slapped Marilyn,
who then fell to the ground, causing her to start bleeding.
Maria and Robert began to beat Marilyn and tried to
suffocate her with a pillow, which did not work at
this time, and Marilyn's three children witnessed this. They were
(03:40):
then pushed into separate bedrooms, and Marilyn was dragged into
her room. Lisa, her eldest daughter, was twelve at the time,
witnessed this. Maria pinned Marylyn to her bed while Robert
took a butcher knife, slicing Marilyn's throat. He repeatedly stabbed
her many times in the neck and head. He also
hit her in the head until he cracked her skull open.
Lisa heard the Cochleys laughing after they had murdered Marylyn.
(04:03):
Marilyn's children came out of the room to find Robert
washing blood off his hands and the knife. Robert threatened
the children to tell them not to tell anyone he
out a knife to Marilyn's son. Robert told the children
he was going to get food, which made them fear
he was going to come back. After he did so,
the couple left the apartment, slamming the door behind them.
Lisa and her brother knocked on their mother's bedroom door
(04:24):
a few times, hoping she was still alive to respond
to them, but she did not answer. They entered the
room to find their mother's lifeless body lying on the
bed with blood all over the room. Marilyn's son told reporters, quote,
I knocked on the door two times and she didn't answer.
I went in and she was dead. I went in
my room and cried, and now she's in heaven. End quote.
(04:46):
Robert Cokeley stole money from twelve year old Lisa. Lisa
had thirty five dollars of allowance money saved, which she
was saving to get food and clothes for her unborn
baby sister. She also wanted to buy her baby sister
a crib. Marylyn's mother told reporters that she thanked God
that her grandchildren were unharmed. The fear in the family
after this happened was very fresh, and a big part
(05:08):
of it was because Robert and Maria Cokeley were still
out there somewhere and.
Speaker 2 (05:13):
Hadn't yet caught.
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Detectives asked for the public's help in locating Robert and
Maria by putting their pictures in local newspapers. While on
the run, Robert used a card that he took from
Marylynd and gained access to twelve hundred dollars she had
in the account. He withdrew about four hundred dollars of
this On April third, two thousand and six, after four
days on the run, Robert and Maria Cokeley turned themselves in.
(05:36):
They were taken into custody on the spot. On April fourth,
two thousand and six, a service was held from Maryland,
he now at the Eternity Funeral Home.
Speaker 2 (05:46):
Hundreds of people came by to pay their respects.
Speaker 1 (05:49):
Marylyn lay there in a white dress and her unborn
child was laid out next to her with wavy hair, wearing.
Speaker 2 (05:56):
A bonnet for viewing as well.
Speaker 1 (05:58):
This was requested by Lisa and her siblings because this
would be the first and last time they would get
to see their baby sister, just twelve years old. Lisa
stood up to be there for her siblings. She also
wanted to testify against Robert and Maria Coakley.
Speaker 3 (06:12):
There is a certain shock to the system that comes
with a sudden, unexpected death. That wave of grief amplified
tenfold when someone is the victim of a gruesome murder.
Lisa marieval Asquez's family and friends gathered inside a Bronx
funeral home Thursday night, trying to keep it together. Their
(06:35):
anguish laced with frustration over the couple. Ciarra Martitez and
d Guan Wheeler, supposedly friends of Lisa's. The couple stands
accused of bludgeting Lisa with a hammer before they allegedly
dismembered and then scattered the body parts in bags in
multiple parks across the Bronx. Police say Lisa was summoned
to the couple's home trying to help resolve an argument just.
Speaker 4 (06:59):
Just as they're going to be what they did. None
of them should get either one of them should get
away with this.
Speaker 2 (07:03):
And I'm really hurt.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
My mother's for the whole family's for I'm sure even
people that I don't even know came out today just
to give me a hug on this.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
So this next part of the episode features what happened
to Lisa Marie of Alaskaz, which is the Lisa that
I am discussing is Marilyn he knows child. So Marilyn
was murdered and went through this and then twelve years
later Lisa also suffered a similar fate. So part two
(08:26):
of this is going to focus on Marylyn's daughter, Lisa.
Lisa Marie Alaskaz was born on June fifth, nineteen ninety three.
She also resided in the Brogues, New York, with her mother,
Marilyn he Now and her two siblings. After her mother
was killed in two thousand and six, Lisa's grandmother gained
custody of her and her two siblings. Lisa was a
(08:48):
strong support system for her family and very helpful after
the death of her mother, so Lisa kind of just
at twelve years old, had stepped up for her siblings.
As Lisa grew into her team. She was described as
being very full of life. She was a part of
the ROTC, which helped introduce kids in the inner city
to law enforcement. She later became an auxiliary officer. She
(09:12):
also enjoyed playing softball on the team the Bronx Rebellions.
She loved playing for this team so much that she
often wore the hat and jersey of her team even
when she was not playing. Over the years, Lisa lived
in different areas, even leaving New York City, but she
eventually came back to the Melrose section of the Bronx,
where she lived with her grandmother. She worked at Model's
(09:33):
Sporting goods store in the Bronx, and here she befriended
one of her coworkers named Sierra Martinez, who was thirty
years old at the time. They became very close friends.
Sierra would share details of her life that she would
not share with anyone else with Lisa. She shared with
Lisa that she was currently in an abusive relationship and
her boyfriend, thirty one year old to Kwan Wheeler, had
(09:55):
served time for attempted murder and attempted robbery. Sierra had
also served time in prison for attempted robbery. Sierra and
Daquan lived in a two story home located on Longfellow
Avenue in the Bronx with a child that was said
to be their daughter. They only lived there for three
short months, but neighbors could hear and see a lot
(10:17):
involving the major issues between the couple. They would be
heard screaming at each other most days. They also previously
lived in a homeless shelter and apparently had problems when
they were living there. Sierra could be seen with bruises
on her arms. Duquan was also seen one day breaking
into a window of their home, followed by screams of
(10:38):
Sierra as she yelled that he was going to kill her.
Due to her mother having an abusive relationship and ultimately
being killed by her boyfriend, Lisa wanted to be a
support system for Sierra and had a special place in
her heart for her. On August eighth, twenty eighteen, a
number of calls were made to nine to one one
for a domestic dispute at the Longfellow Avenue home. Now,
(10:59):
I'm not sure if if only the neighbors made these
calls that heard the altercation, or if Sierra had made
any of the calls, but it sounds as if Sierra
and Daquan were fighting, and neighbors in the area that
were hearing the dispute were calling Number one. On August
twenty four first, twenty eighteen, Lisa received a message from Sierra.
(11:22):
Sierra was explaining that Daquan had been attacking her again.
He left at home and took their daughter with them.
Lisa became overprotective and bothered by the situation. Lisa was
visiting her family at the time, but she grabbed her
bag and quickly left to go be there for Sierra.
Lisa arrived at Sierra's home, she found Sierra by herself,
covered in bruises. It was two am when Lisa called
(11:44):
Number one and reported a kidnapping. Since Daquan took the
child and left and no one knew where he was,
he grabbed a hammer when he returned and struck Lisa
in ahead with a massive blow. Lisa fe out of
the ground. Duquan got on top of Lisa up pinning
her down, and he continued to hit her in the
head with the hammer fourteen times. So when Dakwan returned
(12:06):
to the home, he was obviously furious that Lisa was
there trying to help Sierra, so he began striking her
with the hammer, and he then took an electrical cord
and wrapped it around Lisa's neck, strangling her. He told
Sierra she was going to help with what came next,
They placed the body in the tub and cleaned the
(12:26):
bedroom and bathroom. They got rid of their clothes and
Lisa's clothes. They visited a hardware store nearby, got trash
bags and a machete, and they began to dismember Lisa's body.
Speaker 2 (12:36):
They removed her arms, legs, and head.
Speaker 1 (12:38):
Her remains were put into trash bags to be discarded.
They cleaned more and even painted the walls of the home.
Lisa's aunt contacted Sierra, but could not get a hold
of anyone. Her family was beginning to think the worst.
Another aunt contacted police finally and reported her missing. On
August twenty fourth, a city parks worker was walking by
(12:59):
the entrance of a park.
Speaker 2 (13:01):
He found two bags on the ground.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
He found that the inside of the bag was covered
in blood and had a torso and a head. So
this was about three days after the incident that these
bags were found in a park.
Speaker 2 (13:14):
A sketch was made in hopes.
Speaker 1 (13:15):
To help identify the body in this bag, and then
four days later, on August twenty eighth, more human remains
were found under a pier at Barreto Point Park in
the Hunts Point section of the Bronx nine one one
calls were made by passers by at seven twenty one
pm after discovering bags with human arms and feet. Calls
(13:37):
began coming into the crime stobbers hotline, and one of
the calls mentioned that the victim resembled Lisa of Alaskaz.
Matching nail polish on the remains made it easier to
identify Lisa. They soon confirmed the remains belonged to Lisa
Marieve Alaskeez. Noah had any idea who would want to
do something so heinous to Lisa. Authorities searched through phone
(13:57):
records and would find evidence of the phone call Lisa
and made to nine one one from the Martinez and
Wheeler home. Police went to their home but noticed that
no one was home at the time. They saw that
the apartment was a little too clean and it was
obviously freshly painted. There were cleaning products just laying around
as well, and they eventually obtained.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
A search warrant to look for further evidence.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
They came to the conclusion that Lisa was dismembered in
the apartment, particularly inside of the bathtub. On Wednesday, August
twenty ninth, du Quan Wheeler and Sierra Martinez were arrested.
They faced charges including murder, manslaughter, tammering with evidence, criminal
possession of a weapon, and concealment of a human corpse.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
Only d Kwan Wheeler was.
Speaker 1 (14:43):
Charged with murder, but both were charged with consalment of
a human corpse. Du Quan was sentenced to twenty seven
years to life. Martinez was given a misdemeanor charge of
conspiracy in the fifth degree. She was given credit for
time served and she was released because she tested against
a Quan. This enraged the family because Martinez was supposed
(15:07):
to be a very close friend of Lisa and for
her to help dismember her. Now, it's understood that she
feared du Quan, but her helping dismember her best friend. Yeah,
I'm not going to put my opinion out there because
(15:28):
I understand she was afraid. However, the family definitely believes
that she should have received more time, and I will
just say that I believed that she should.
Speaker 2 (15:38):
Have received more time as well.
Speaker 1 (15:41):
Even if she was being abused and coerced into it,
she still dismembered the body, and she still concealed it,
and she didn't tell anyone afterwards. She didn't answer the
phone calls to her phone. She could have contacted somebody
the minute that she had gotten away from Kwan, or
that he wasn't around. She could have contacted somebody to
(16:04):
let them know what happened, but she concealed it as
well and just let people continue searching for Lisa, even
though she knew what had happened to her. A service
was held on September sixth, twenty eighteen for Lisa Marieve Alasquez.
There was an outputting of support for the family by
many who knew Lisa and were touched by her kind nature.
(16:26):
They were shocked that such a heinous thing happened to her,
as she was such a kind and loving person that
would never harm anyone. Ultimately, Lisa lost her life trying
to help someone she thought was her friend, which shows
how good her heart was. It's devastating that she faced
the same fate as her own mother just twelve years before,
due to domestic violence. I write everyone that concludes this episode.
