Speaker 1 (00:00):
Hello listeners, and welcome back to another episode of Dark
Deed's podcast. On today's episode, I want to discuss a
case that occurred in twenty twenty three but has been
ongoing as of late. In fact, the trial just concluded
at the end of July. This is the case of
the poisoning death of Angela Craig. Angela Dawn Prey Craig
(00:50):
was born on February fourteenth, nineteen seventy two, in West Helena, Arkansas.
She had a large family, with her being the youngest
out of ten children. Angela graduated from Nettleton High School
in Jonesboro, Arkansas, and then she went on to earn
a bachelor's degree in journalism from the University of Memphis.
After college, she worked as a reporter and then worked
(01:11):
in corporate communications. It's not clear when exactly Angela met
James Craig, but the two were married on December eighteenth,
nineteen ninety nine. The couple had six children together and
eventually settled in the Denver, Colorado area.
Speaker 2 (01:26):
The Craigs were known.
Speaker 1 (01:27):
To be very involved members of their community of Aurora, Colorado.
James Craig was a dentist in the community and Angela
was also involved in this business, as she went to
meetings that involved radio ads for james dental practice. She
was deeply religious and involved in the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter day Saints, and she served in various
positions within the church. Angela had always been described as confident,
(01:51):
someone who loved her life and children, and not somebody
who was willing to take risks or risk.
Speaker 2 (01:58):
Her life to have fun.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
It's also unclear exactly when their marriage took a turn
for the worst, as there could be details that no
one really knows about from the past. But in twenty eighteen,
Angela called HER's sister telling her that James had been
having an affair. I'm not sure this was the first time.
Like I said, there might be things in the past,
but this is the first time that I could find
that she actually knew about it. Obviously, in twenty eighteen,
(02:22):
since it's been noted that James did have a sex
and pornography addiction, as well as having a gambling addiction.
A month after finding out about james affair, James drugged Angela.
It was known that Angela would never commit suicide as
she deeply loved her children, so she wouldn't have done
this to herself. However, Craig explained to Angela's best friend,
(02:47):
Nicole Harmon in twenty nineteen that his reason for drugging
Angela was actually to stop her from thwarting his plans
of taking his own life. Even though Nicole was Angela's
best friend and not Craig's. Angela never personally went to
Nicole herself and told her about the drugging.
Speaker 3 (03:04):

Speaker 1 (26:33):
The oldest daughter said that Angela loved being a mom,
she loved exercising, and she loved animals. When asked if
her mother may have been depressed, she said no, and
that they were making plans to fix up a house
together someday. She said that her mother described feeling dizzy
and nauseous before she died, and she was less stable
on her feet. The Craig's daughter said she asked James
(26:56):
to do an autopsy on Angela to find out what
was wrong, but her dad told them he didn't want
to satisfy their doctor's curiosities. James allegedly told her if
they couldn't figure it out figured out when she was alive,
then they shouldn't poke around when she's gone. The third
(27:16):
oldest Craig child testified she had been the oldest child
living at the home at the time of her mother's death.
She said protein shakes were comment in the home for
everyone except the youngest children. She said her mother didn't
appear depressed and that her mother frequently spoke about the future.
After her father's arrest, she said he called her to
ask if she would bail another inmate out of jail.
(27:38):
In the call, he said it was best if she
didn't tell anyone about their phone call, but the inmate
would have important information for her, so James told her
the inmate was her cousin, Jonathan, but this daughter didn't
recognize that name, so she didn't recognize having a cousin
named Jonathan. She drove out to bail the cousin from jail,
and he handed her pieces of printer paper with writing
(27:59):
on them that were taped together. She said the letter
was in her father's handwriting, and it asked his teen
daughter to create a fake piece of evidence, a deep
fake video of Angela saying she asked James to order
the chemicals. The letter included detailed step by step instructions
of how to do it, including buying a cheap laptop
(28:23):
that would later be destroyed and making transactions from the
dark web.
Speaker 2 (28:27):
The letter stressed the importance.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
Of the metadata for the deep fake to show it
was created on February twenty seventh. James told her to
call his the Memories Project and laid out code words.
Speaker 2 (28:39):
To use to discuss it. So that's disgusting and very weird.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
De four of the trial, Angel Amerine, who worked as
a dental assistant in James's office for six months, testified
about a package that had been delivered to the office
which was labeled.
Speaker 2 (28:58):
As containing the Cyanide.
Speaker 1 (29:01):
Texts between her and James, as well as staff group texts,
were writing court. One exchange had James saying he was
expecting a priority package and he asked Angel to ensure
the front door.
Speaker 2 (29:12):
Stayed open for this package.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
Aurora Police detective Molly Harris testified that she examined the
Google records associated with James email and Google voice number
Jiminwaffles at gmail dot com. This account had been created
on February twenty seven, twenty twenty three, and records showed
that arsenic metal was purchased and shipped the next day.
(29:37):
On the browser of the hard drive collected from exam
Room nine at Jamestone Practice, History showed a search for
how many grams of pure arsenic will kelly human, but
they said that it couldn't be determined who was actually
using the computer at this time. Other searches performed from
(29:58):
exam Room nine on on February twenty seventh and twenty eighth,
as well as March first and sixth, included And there's
kind of a list here. I kind of went over
some of them earlier, but rate over a couple of
the searches. Is there such a thing as an undetectable poison?
How to make poison from oleander? Is arsenic detectable? How
(30:23):
many grams of pure arsenic will kill a human? How
to make murder look like.
Speaker 2 (30:26):
A heart attack?
Speaker 1 (30:29):
A dose of tetrahydrosylen is fatal? How long does it
take to die from arsenic poisoning, just a search that
said vizine and then another one that said a tetrahydrosylene
poisoning timeline. There were no searches on Angelus's phone for
any poisoning, any self harm, depression, any suicide related searches.
Searches prior to March sixth on Angela's browser were benign.
(30:52):
They were just normal searches. Nothing about how to kill yourself,
nothing about poisons. But then after March sixth, or has changed.
In the days leading up to her death. Angela's phone
search why too much vitamin B pre workout supplement made
me dizzy? Eyes are blurry an hour later? Side effects
of high blood pressure, dizziness, slow focus, tired head pressure,
(31:15):
hearing distortion, MANI seizures. Can the flu cause vertigo? Nutrition
label for carnation high protein? Is there an app for
monitoring vital stats I can share with the loved one.
So texts shown to the jury showed struggles and Angela
and James relationship. Angela was saved in James's phone as mom,
(31:37):
James was saved in her phone as the boy. On
December ninth, twenty twenty two, Angela, Texas, James don't come home.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
I don't want you here.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
I was there, you know, I was finally in that
place where I could feel that maybe all of this
was worth it. Then last night was bad, and I
told you it was bad, and you were just going
to go on your day with her.
Speaker 2 (31:55):
You know why you did this.
Speaker 1 (31:57):
You can't fix this. There's nothing left for you to break.
Do what we need to do to get through Christmas
with the kids. Then in attack, James told Angela she
was not worth it and he is another woman to.
Speaker 2 (32:10):
Build up my ego. So that's what he told her.
I guess he was using this woman to build up
his ego.
Speaker 1 (32:17):
Prosecutors claimed that James met a dentist at a conference
in Las Vegas in February of twenty twenty three and
began an emotionally involved relationship, and that dentist, of course,
was Karen Kane. Ryan Redfern, James's former business partner and
good friend, took the stand and described financial issues that
persisted in their business. Redfern, driving to the hospital Angela
(32:40):
was crashing, received a call from employees at summer Brook
Dental Group saying that a package of potassium sinai was
delivered to the office. While sitting in the ICU, Redfern
looked up symptoms of potassium cyanide poisoning and told a
nurse and Angela's brother his suspicions that he thought she
had been poisoned with the cyanide. He said that James
told him it was a game of chicken he was
(33:01):
playing with Angela, and then later received a lengthy text
from James asking him not to speak about their discussion.
Day five of the trial, Angela's friend Nicole Harmon testified
she recalled an incident on March ninth, twenty twenty three,
when Angela asked her to come over and test her
blood sugar. Angela didn't explain why she needed the test,
(33:22):
but when Nicole arrived at the house, she found Angela
on the couch and not looking well. She noted a
protein shap next to the couch, which Angela said her
husband made for Nicole testified that the Craigs visited her
home in twenty nineteen and during the visit, James studied
being dealing with sexual addiction, and he said he was
planning to inject himself with something to kill himself, and
(33:44):
that he had drugged Angela to make sure that she
didn't wake up and stop him. But once again, the
weird thing about this was that James was the only
one speaking about the drugging incident.
Speaker 5 (34:08):
You hy.
Speaker 4 (34:40):
Ding a very.
Speaker 1 (36:21):
N he stated, just based on seeing the patient, based
(37:07):
on our labs, based on her presentation, even without those
rumors of cyanide, this looked highly unusual since it was
just a suspicion at that point. He asked the team
to obtain a test for cyanide concentration and other labs,
as well as testing for similar substances that could have
caused reaction like the one he was observing in Angela, y.
Speaker 4 (38:54):
Or everything. Name you any other hiding any game? You
(44:18):
any other boy.
Speaker 3 (45:20):
Y y y y y y y y.
Speaker 4 (48:01):
You d you any other hiding ding.
Speaker 2 (50:53):
Roll for go to Harvey about this and not the DA.
Speaker 1 (50:56):
This person's either a friend of or somehow overheard Chitlin
or Mary, my former office manager. She's about twenty five
years old, plump, pretty face. Caitlin was recently heard bragging
that she's been subpoenat. It sounded like she fabricated evidence
or testimony, something about the search history. It were also
something about how she ordered the cyanide that killed Ange.
Caitlyn said she did what she did because of her
(51:18):
bosses pushed her to do it, said they gave her
a huge financial incentive to help them. Cassiani Constantiniitis, the
wife of Nathaniel Harris, testified she received a letter at
her home from Jimmy in November twenty and twenty four.
Cassianni was on the phone with Olson when she pulled
the letter out of her mailbox. She testified that she
started to open the letter, but then she stopped after
(51:39):
being told by Olson. Cassiani testified that she did not
know Angela or James Craig and she had never met
or spoken with either of them. She said she did
not help James at this case and never met with
his attorney, Harvey Steinberg.
Speaker 4 (52:16):
Came any other way, y.
Speaker 1 (52:47):
Y y.
Speaker 4 (53:46):
Y you m M, well, did you any hiding? Ver
(58:53):

(01:02:38):
other gay hiding or.
Speaker 5 (01:03:37):
Mothering? A very very do you remember anything you?
Speaker 1 (01:07:30):
Day twelve of the trial, July thirtieth, twenty twenty five
is the day that I get super hype about because
this is the day that me and everybody that's been
following this case has been waiting for two years. The
jury finally reached a verdict on this day and they
found him guilty. They found James Craig and guilty of
all charges, first degree murder and poisoning his wife, so
(01:07:52):
listening Casey Bohannon to tamber with the evidence. He was
guilty of solictening William Walbin to commit perjury in the
first degree, Gouldy of sol listening Nathaniel Harris to commit
murder in the first degree, as well as soliciting his
wife Cassie Oni it's to commit perjuring the first degree.
Speaker 2 (01:08:07):
So he was found guilty of all charges.
Speaker 1 (01:08:09):
I have been waiting for two years to figure out
what happened to this idiot, and finally people saw through
his crap and he was found guilty.
Speaker 2 (01:08:18):
And I get so hyghed about this because.
Speaker 1 (01:08:21):
I wanted this. I wanted this so bad. I wanted
it to end, and I wanted him to be found guilty.
And I followed this trial and it finally happened. And
I literally cannot tell you I probably did the ance
in my head whenever I found this out, because he
is where he needs to be. Before James Craig was
handed down his sentence. Angela's family delivered their victim impact
(01:08:44):
statements ahead of the judge handing him his sentence of
life without parole and an additional thirty three years on
each of the other charges, to be served consecutively. All right, everyone,
That concludes this episode of dart Ted's podcast.
Speaker 2 (01:08:58):
Thanks for listening, and until next time.
