Speaker 1 (00:00):
From downtown Spokane, USA, from the k HQ building in
the Numerica Studios.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
This is the Dave and Molly show. Here we go.
Speaker 3 (00:12):
Yes, I am ready Wednesday. Yeah, I had to this.
I slept so hard last night and so well, I
woke up and I was like, okay, you know, you
have to regroup.
Speaker 2 (00:24):
What day is it? What what am I?
Speaker 3 (00:25):
You know, I think about what you have to do?
What's going on. That's a good feeling because your story.
Speaker 4 (00:31):
Yeah, I would went to bed very early, reasonable time.
And then the previous time that I went to bed
early and I was being good, then I woke up
so early and I was like, well, what was the net?
Sleep was the same lots of rip off artist? Yeah,
well not the case yesterday.
Speaker 3 (00:48):
Overslid Actually oh really Yeah, I had to snooze a bit.
I woke up and I thought, this is so wonderful
that I want more m and so I did. But
I actually got up before this snooze thing went off,
so I sort of faded back out. But I just
love that when you go to sleep and the next thing,
you know, and usually I wake up with the sleep vibe.
(01:10):
I go back to sleep pretty easily. But I still
wake up a little bit.
Speaker 2 (01:14):
Not last night.
Speaker 3 (01:15):
It felt I was in the same spot, like just
exact same position as I fell sleep.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
I love that I had more crazy dreams. Yeah, that
that sleep vibe thing. I'm telling you. I'm telling the people.
We're telling the people.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
I had crazy dreams too.
Speaker 4 (01:29):
But that's good.
Speaker 2 (01:30):
Yeah. How was the day? AnyWho? It was good.
Speaker 4 (01:33):
I finished up here and then I had some free
money that I had to tend to and I was
on mule service for your winning football ticket. Yes, I
had a winning football ticket as well. So that's how
they get you, Jerry. Oh yeah, they get you out there,
Oh yeah, with the promise of free money, that's right,
and cash your little piece of papers that can turn
(01:55):
into dollars. Yes, And then you get out there and
then they got, oh yeah, get.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Their hooks into you and the dreams, the hopes. I
was thinking about the new machine that I played out
at Northern Quest the other day, and I know better.
I mean, I made it do all of the things
that's supposed to do, and it's very exciting, and I
know better than to go there and try that again.
She knows better, but I'm going to do it because
(02:23):
I was thinking that was a really fun machine. I
really liked the way the Buffalos do their stuff.
Speaker 4 (02:28):
So I got out there and I did I got
so I had a winning ticket that had been rolled
over and won.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
So it was.
Speaker 4 (02:37):
It started with a Dallas Cowboys covering on the points
spread thing first game. Then I rolled that over to
the forty nine er game this weekend when I muled
it right, and then then I do it again. And
I'm trying to find a game that I'm confident in
that I just you know, I want to be safe.
(02:59):
My prediction is that Seattle's going to be better than
what people say. I think they're going to get over
eight and a half wins, so I think they're going
to be you know, they're going to be in the mix.
I also believe that the Saints could be the worst
team in football this year, and it might. They might
not win any games really, I mean, I've told a
(03:20):
few people that I said, there's a looking at the thing.
I don't know if they win any like, they're not
going to be favored in any game. Sure, So anyway,
they're playing the Seahawks, and I thought, Okay, I'm going
to roll all that money into the Seahawks game. Well,
the Seahawks are like seven and a half point favorites,
so I win like fourteen dollars. If you know, it's
just it's a safe bet. Fourteen more dollars, I should say. So.
(03:44):
So anyway, that was my safe play and I'm done.
And then I took your ticket and you said, put
it all on the Lions to win on the money line.
Speaker 3 (03:56):
And on your way out you said who are they playing?
And I said, I don't know, and you said a
true fan would know that, and then I said, I know,
but I also don't feel like looking it up, so
that I just left you. I had no idea who
they were going to play.
Speaker 4 (04:07):
Well, they're playing the Ravens.
Speaker 3 (04:08):
That sounds bad. And I don't know much about football,
but that sounds bad.
Speaker 4 (04:12):
And they they're an underdog. So, as I said on
the message to you yesterday, I said, good news and
bad news. Good news is that or the bad news
is they're playing the Ravens. Yeah, the good news is
they're underdogs, so the money line bet will pay much more.
Speaker 3 (04:30):
I won six dollars and eighty five cents on the
last one, so I started with twenty and now if
I win, it'll go up to eighty something dollars. That's
pretty good. I'll have eighty one ninety if it happens now,
and if it doesn't, I'm still a fan. And I've
only really lost twenty dollars.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
Right, and you've had three weeks of enjoyment now.
Speaker 3 (04:55):
A lot of enjoyment. That little ticket brings happiness.
Speaker 2 (04:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (04:59):
So anyway, did did my did my sports stuff? I
made my selection for my eliminator league?
Speaker 2 (05:07):
Who is it?
Speaker 4 (05:08):
The Bills?
Speaker 2 (05:09):
Whoa the Bills?
Speaker 4 (05:10):
Yeah, so Quinn will be happy about that.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
They will.
Speaker 4 (05:13):
In fact, they're I think they're a twelve point favorite
on tomorrow. Tomorrow's Thursday, Yeah, Thursday football.
Speaker 2 (05:20):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (05:22):
So I had that, and then then I got home
and I caught up on lots of stuff I was
I didn't realize how cluttered the house was. Not like
I've done all the vacuuming and everything. This is just
like moving things. Stuff that you know, come home from
a couple of different golf tournaments and there's always like
(05:42):
free stuff and it never gets to the right place.
So I get it. I just leave it on the
counter and then days go by, and you know, so
yesterday was kind of a you know, get everything kind
of put in a place. Maybe not it's permanent place,
but just a place that's away.
Speaker 2 (05:59):
From all that.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
I know that I haven't decluttered. When I put my
next casino prize on top of the one from the
week art, I never quite made it into the little
closet where they go. That's how I know it's been
a while.
Speaker 4 (06:14):
Yeah, similar situations at the golf tournaments everything. Oh and
the other thing was, so I'm out there, you know,
at the casino, and I thought, you know, I'm gonna
I'm going to bet on the Mariners because they're hot
right now. I'm going to bet on the Mariners, and
I'm going to bet a parlay for cal Rawly to
hit another home run just for fun. Sure, well, time
(06:37):
gets away from me. I don't do that. Then I'm
driving driving home. They had an early start because they
were playing in Kansas City, and at the end of
the fourth inning the Mariners are a head nine to
nothing and cal Rawley has hit two home runs.
Speaker 3 (06:55):
Oh wow.
Speaker 4 (07:00):
So that's how they also get you. They get you,
you know, playing these games, and then they distract you
from from your mission of saying what you thought.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
All part of their design.
Speaker 4 (07:10):
So so for the Mariners situation, they've won ten in
a row. Now they're in first place all by themselves,
and cal Rawly is now tied for the most home
runs in the history of the Mariners. And it's pretty
good company. It's Ken Gurfy Junior. Oh yeah, I mean,
so that's quite something. And he is the No. One
(07:31):
in the history of baseball. Yeah, one hundred and forty
some years as a switch hitter has hit more home
runs than cal Rawly to last night. And then that's
not even the headline. The headline is Dominic cal Zone
hit three home runs. So they were home runs like crazy.
They won like twelve to three years. I don't know
(07:54):
what the final score was, but.
Speaker 3 (07:55):
See if you only had a little money on that.
So so, and also he is the only catcher right
like he's yeah, so he's going to break all kinds
of records this year.
Speaker 2 (08:06):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (08:07):
Yeah, it's it's pretty it's quite a story. Really, I mean,
we're you know, we're a little close to it. And
you think, well, and cal Rawley doesn't have the national
you know name like some of these other you know,
big home run hitters and stuff.
Speaker 2 (08:21):
But he's he's legit.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
So what about where does he stand with I know
for switch hitters, he's got the most, but for like,
who's got.
Speaker 2 (08:28):
The most home runs as a catcher and the league? No,
just as a player in the league this year.
Speaker 4 (08:34):
Yeah, oh, he's way ahead.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
He's so he's the number one. That's so overall he
has the most home runs period, not just being a
catcher switch hitter, but he just says the most.
Speaker 2 (08:44):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (08:44):
And yesterday, of his two home runs, he hit one
left handed in one right hand.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
Oh my god.
Speaker 4 (08:50):
It's like, yeah, he's a freak.
Speaker 2 (08:51):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (08:52):
So and then also, what is the record for the
most home runs ever hit in the season?
Speaker 4 (08:57):
Well, a good question, Yeah, comes with an asterisk the Roids. Yes,
it was Arry Bonds.
Speaker 2 (09:05):
Huh.
Speaker 4 (09:05):
And he hit seventy three I think?
Speaker 3 (09:08):
And how many has the dumper hit?
Speaker 4 (09:10):
Fifty six? And we have eleven they have eleven games left?
Speaker 3 (09:15):
Yeah, why didn't count if they were in postseason stuff?
Does it still count?
Speaker 4 (09:22):
I don't know how they did? Well, it has to
count in the season.
Speaker 3 (09:26):
Yeah, yeah, well if they get the postseason, because then
it's like best out of seven or best out of
five then seven and so he'll.
Speaker 2 (09:34):
Have a lot more games.
Speaker 4 (09:35):
Well, and they've won ten in a row now, And
it was, you know, going back ten games ago, you thought, okay,
well they just got to you know, hang in there
and get a wild card spot. Well now it's not
only okay, well we should win the division. Well, then
we want to be the number two seed because then
you get a bye into the first So, I mean
they've it's really a lot has happened in ten games. Yeah,
(09:58):
when you win all of them, it's pretty good, and
then they should We never, as I said, we never
looked past an opponent. But after we win again today
that's eleven in a row, then we'll go for the
sweep tomorrow, and then they just keep going.
Speaker 3 (10:12):
You just I again, I'm not a big sports person,
but that sounds like you're overlooking an opponent. It sounds
like you are.
Speaker 2 (10:19):
I don't even know who they play.
Speaker 4 (10:21):
It's a major league team, they're playing anything today, right, Yeah,
So that was good. So the So then I as
I'm heading home, I'm hearing the first part of the
Mariner game. So I thought, okay, well when I get home,
I'll turn on THEE. So that was on background as
I'm decluttering and then remember last week, I can't remember.
(10:41):
I overslept that one morning and I didn't get my
bins out. Yeah, so now today has bin day and
everything is maxed out, like because I did all the
yard stuff on Saturday. So the green bin is completely full,
the recycle bin is overflowing, and then the garbage is
(11:02):
completely full. So I get all the bins out. Everything
is full.
Speaker 2 (11:06):
I love that feeling. It's so good.
Speaker 4 (11:09):
And then I was, I was upstairs. I didn't get
into bed probably until I don't know, close to nine o'clock,
but I was. I was upstairs and done by eight thirty.
Speaker 3 (11:20):
I love that too, and then slept. But then, so
what happened this morning?
Speaker 5 (11:25):
Though?
Speaker 2 (11:25):
You did?
Speaker 1 (11:25):
You?
Speaker 4 (11:26):
I over the alarm went off, both alarms, And the
problem is I need to stagger the alarms a little bit. Yeah,
because I have them, they're within like a minute of
each other, and then they're both going off, and so
I shut them both off and then yeah, what I
(11:46):
need to do is have one go off and then
have the next like five minutes.
Speaker 2 (11:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (11:50):
So that's like the snooze button. I love the snooze button.
Speaker 4 (11:54):
I was never a snoozer, but I've become a snoozer
in the last I think maybe that's that's sleep, because
you just you get so far into your sleep.
Speaker 2 (12:03):
I don't know.
Speaker 4 (12:03):
I don't know what it is we've I can't figure.
Speaker 3 (12:06):
It out, but well, something I know. I got a
message from h and he ordered one. I think he's
waiting on it. And then there was a message from
another listener yesterday and I forgot to answer it. But
they were asking about the sleep vibe. We stand by it.
Speaker 4 (12:21):
He did five times his business last month.
Speaker 3 (12:23):
Really wow, that's good cool, and I.
Speaker 4 (12:28):
Do believe in it. I think it's I think it's amazing.
But I did even though I overslept. I had my
coffee prepared, so I actually had coffee this morning.
Speaker 3 (12:38):
How did that play out yesterday? Did you feel the
effects of not having your coffee all day?
Speaker 2 (12:42):
No?
Speaker 4 (12:43):
I had other stuff that sort of jacked me up. Yeah,
so that part was fine.
Speaker 2 (12:48):
I had.
Speaker 4 (12:49):
I had decent energy yesterday.
Speaker 2 (12:51):
That's good.
Speaker 4 (12:51):
But then I then I crashed pretty hard.
Speaker 3 (12:54):
I keep forgetting to go get my good my cinnamon
vanilla creamer. So I've been dealing with just plain Vanilla's
cremer and this awful. It's like a national It's really hard,
especially when you get home and you're in your pajamas
and stuff, and then you go, oh, and I'm not
going back out. I was here until twelve thirty. So
(13:16):
you left like around eleven fifteen or something.
Speaker 2 (13:19):
Oh no, no, I was sure you were.
Speaker 3 (13:22):
I thought you got out of here pretty fast. I
thought you were done with everything and we're out because
it felt like it wasn't. I was working on the
safety net stuff, just getting the program together, and I
realized that it is not my wheelhouse anything with When
you say vector file and proof read and make sure
(13:44):
you get all the details, I just I instantly start
to just get anxiety because I'm and I was telling
my mom yesterday, i am not a detailed person. I'm
not good at crossing t's and dotting eyes. I'm a
good visionary person. I can come up with ideas. I
can there's that I'm good at.
Speaker 2 (14:01):
That is not it.
Speaker 3 (14:02):
And so I'm so afraid that I'm going to miss
thank you or you know what I mean, forget to
Donna and I or across the tea.
Speaker 2 (14:11):
I'm so afraid.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
So I'm running it by you know, multiple people. Everybody
look at it, eyes on it, and sure enough there
was a spelling air and there was a name that
was misspelled, and there was a thing missing. And so
I'm glad because once you send it to the printer
and I think tomorrow's that drop dead for that, then
there's no going back, and you don't want somebody to
be upset with you. So I had a very nice
(14:33):
chat with our friend Dave Cotton and our friend Kelly,
who are both Vikings fans.
Speaker 4 (14:39):
Discouraged King fans.
Speaker 3 (14:40):
Yes, and then you know they don't come in on Mondays.
So yesterday they were there and I start walking. All
I did was walk over. I catch Kelly's eye and
he goes, Dave, she's coming, She's coming, She's coming, She's
coming his way. And so Dave's hiding. He thought I
had a camera with me. So he's hiding and he's
trying to, you know, get in a character. He's going
to do a bit. But I said, how's it going,
(15:02):
you guys? Oh my god, how are you? How is it?
How are the horns? And so I would be that person, yeah,
and they said so then they're telling me all these
injuries that have happened that so that quarterback is.
Speaker 4 (15:16):
Injured yeah, and I didn't you actually told me that, Yeah,
and I would I hadn't heard that news.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
And the Bengals quarterback is insured. Yeah, he's out. So
that changes things, and I think for the Vikings it's
going to change things dramatically. I think the hopes and
because when they were trying to sell me on staying
with the Vikings, they had that he goes that was
one of my selling points for you, and I said, yeah,
and now he's got the toe turf toe or whatever
(15:43):
it is.
Speaker 4 (15:44):
Well, he's got the ankle.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
Oh yeah, he's got the ankle. And then Joe Burrow
ha's the's the toe.
Speaker 4 (15:49):
Yeah, but he's it's a surgery thing. So he's he's
out at least until December.
Speaker 3 (15:53):
That's awesome.
Speaker 2 (15:55):
Yeah, I hate that. I hate that for them.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
So anyway, I just thought it was funny because you're
in here doing your stuff and I'm out there talking
about sports perfect, which is so weird, like what usually
that's the Rivers. So but that was nice. But I
was I was here till maybe even twelve forty five,
but then I had to be back here at two
fifteen to do a video shoot. Oh right, So I
(16:18):
cause I had to go home and find something to wear,
and so I did that. I got a few things
done on my way home, and then I was back
here and Colleen met me, and then it was like,
so Quinn's coming back from a shoot and I have
to leave here at three ten to get to Alex's
school by three thirty. Have to leave at three ten,
(16:40):
and he gets delayed, and he gets delayed, and he
finally gets to the building at like I think it
was two forty or two forty five, and we have
to do our video thing. I we got it done,
and I left here at three oh nine.
Speaker 2 (16:54):
It was perfect, the great ones do.
Speaker 3 (16:56):
He just came in, he got it, and we had
been The good thing was we had time to say
it and rehearse and you know.
Speaker 2 (17:01):
Go through it.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
It's for the presentation at the auction in lieu of
people talking on the stage, because sometimes things get away
from you. I feel like, yeah, I feel like it's
really better to just have the presentation there, hand it
over to Uh, It'll be Ken Mike Can the MC
(17:24):
and then Tom Sherry's our auctioneer, and then you just
hand it over and then it's I think it's just.
Speaker 2 (17:30):
It just flows better.
Speaker 3 (17:31):
I think that people pay attention sometimes to a video
more too, it's easier to get their attention. So and
I plan on it being a very fun night, and
so I want to interrupt the fun as little as
possible and want everybody to just be enjoying themselves. And
so anyway, we got that done. Then I got and
I had already texted him and saying, I know you're
not going to get this till you get out of school,
(17:52):
but I might be late, but I made it with
it two minutes to spare, which was great. So I
get him and then I get him to karate, and
then I make the mistake of going to mail a letter.
So then Quinn is meeting me in that parking lot
at four thirty and so I but I thought, I
have to mail this thing, so I'll find a post office. Well,
(18:14):
you know when you're a division in Francis and then
you go down and then you have to make a
right and then a left and then a right. So
it's back behind sort of the McDonald's and the chaos.
There's a post office back there, and that's where the
GPS takes me. But man, that like Monroe, it is
just there's so much traffic, so getting back.
Speaker 2 (18:36):
There when you're in traffic time, right, it is four o'clock.
Speaker 3 (18:39):
Yeah, So anyway, I got back and then a young
man named Danny came and joined us, and we bought
him a car. Safety and I bought him a car, so
he was showing us the car. Really nice kid. He
has been on his own since he was sixteen. He
grew up. I said, you know, where's your mom and
he said, she's downtown somewhere.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (18:57):
She's like, she's just an addict and attic and addict.
And anyway, his brother. We helped his brother get into
an apartment several years back, and then he got custody
of his younger brother. They both finished high school at
Deer Park High School, which is amazing. And now he
was trying to go on to be a plumber. He
(19:18):
wants to go to school to be a plumber. But
the two of them, I mean, you know, he's twenty
now and his brother's like twenty two, and these two
kids just had to make it on their own. Like
I mean, anyway, he was. It was very inspirational because
I thought, there is hope and there's good.
Speaker 2 (19:35):
He was funny though.
Speaker 3 (19:36):
He said, I had to get back to Deer Park.
This Spokane traffic. He goes this big city stuff.
Speaker 2 (19:41):
It's too much.
Speaker 3 (19:41):
I'm a small town guy. This is too much excitement
for me. But he was very he'll be on the video,
He'll be on the video. And Quinn was there shooting
the video. Quinn's great with everybody, you know, he's just
doing such a good job. So that done, and then
it was like one minute till Karate was done. We
were finished with our shoot. Karate is let out, mob's
(20:01):
your uncle McDonald's everything they're timing. It was just one
of those things and the whole, this whole point together. Oh,
it's been amazing, and both of Quinn and I are
like very proud of ourselves, like, yes, we gave this
little silver of time and this and this and and
so I was. I was really really happy with that.
And then I was home and I was sitting out
(20:23):
on the deck for a little while, and then I
can't even remember when I was. Oh, I watched a
movie called The Wrong Paris and it's about It was cute.
It was very like Hallmark style, very mild, but it
was a girl thinks she's going to Paris, France for
a reality show and it's really Paris, Texas, and so
she so the guy is a cowboy, but he's like
(20:44):
smoldering hot. But it's it's kind of a bachelorette thing.
It's called the honeypot and at the end, you you
either take the money or you take the guy, so
you get the honeypot of money.
Speaker 2 (20:53):
And anyway, it was cute.
Speaker 3 (20:57):
Well it's it's complicated because they kind of meet beforehand accidentally.
So I'm not going to spoil it. People might be
wanting to watch it. It's cute though the guy is
I don't know who the guy is, but.
Speaker 2 (21:10):
He's he's something. He's very something.
Speaker 3 (21:14):
So and then I made myself dinner. It was a
little later dinner, and that's it. And I slept like
I slept so well. It was so great. I think
the more I get the stuff done for the auction,
the more like that's done, then I can. And then
I've made other decisions on stuff, and it's like, now
I can. I think my brain's just been staying up
(21:36):
while I'm trying to sleep working on stuff.
Speaker 4 (21:39):
So I did hear all the I got texts from
your can yesterday and he said, hey, I just sent
you nine new audio pieces. Oh wow, but I did.
I listened to all of it and it even though
I had heard them before. Yeah did those?
Speaker 2 (21:57):
Yeah, it was.
Speaker 4 (21:58):
Like those they're pretty funny. So anyway, those would kind
of be mixed in throughout the show today.
Speaker 2 (22:04):
That's good. I know.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
When I talked to him, I said, what are you doing?
He said, obsessing? And I know what that means. That
means he's obsessing over our audio. My fear is that
he will grow tired of it, and then then where.
Speaker 2 (22:19):
Will we be. We'll be left for dead, yeah.
Speaker 3 (22:22):
Because sometimes sometimes he gets into stuff and then he
kind of, you know, go through phases.
Speaker 4 (22:29):
One of the other things I did have a phone
conversation with with some people's for and we'll have a
big announcement tomorrow, Yeah, about our one year anniversary gathering.
So we'll we have to save it for tomorrow, but
all the details will be handed out tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (22:49):
Yeah, and I will.
Speaker 3 (22:51):
I'm going to figure out how to do our group
text thing again so we can get all the details
and we'll make a we will make a Facebook event
thing and stuff. So I want a lot of people
to come it'll be kind of like our firing party,
a similar situation where we're just there. Maybe we supply
some food and you know, well maybe I'll supply some food.
(23:14):
We'll see. And then I got this ticket. I mean,
my goodness, I could be an eighty and eighty dollars.
Err yeah, almost almost eighty two dollars.
Speaker 2 (23:25):
All they have to do, all the Lions have to
do is win. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
And the problem is it's Monday night football, you know,
which is so I have to wait all that time.
And there is a good chance, because I will be home,
there's a chance I watched that game. Well, I mean
I have a meeting, but I mean I's at my house,
and so as everybody disperses, it'll be an hour into
(23:50):
the game.
Speaker 4 (23:50):
So pure a great game. Those are two teams I
really like to watch.
Speaker 3 (23:54):
I was doing my picks and then I lost a
lost tracks. I got to my picks, you know, my picks.
And so last week there were a bunch of kitty
cats that won, you said, right, Oh no, you said
the Birds.
Speaker 4 (24:08):
It was like the first time in seven years that
all the Bird teams won on the same day. Wow,
or the same weekend. I guess whatever.
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Here's an interesting matchup the Bengals at the Vikings. They
both have their quarterbacks injured, So broken quarterbacks, So what
do they do?
Speaker 2 (24:22):
Who do you get to play?
Speaker 4 (24:24):
There's a chance I get to play.
Speaker 3 (24:26):
Yeah, the Saints have been bugging you. They want you
on their team.
Speaker 4 (24:29):
Well, I'm not playing for them. No, No, I get injured.
Speaker 3 (24:35):
Oh man, I'm just looking at all the records here,
the Texans. Oh, the Browns, Well, the Packers are going
to crush the Browns, right.
Speaker 4 (24:44):
That was the other one I looked at for my eliminator. Yeah,
but I just thought I'm going to take the Bills
now because that's a So.
Speaker 3 (24:52):
Do you think the Panthers this is the best win situation.
They're zero and two and the Falcons are coming to
their house. Do you think they.
Speaker 2 (25:00):
Panthers aren't very good? Well, I know, but they have
to win something.
Speaker 4 (25:04):
No, there's a I'll give her a mention, Angie Agar.
She's going to be a multi millionaire very soon. But
for the last couple of years she does this bit
where she she basically interviews herself, but she's talking to
different members of different teams. So, and it's very cleverly
(25:29):
put together and it's you know, she wears the different
team colors when she's responding, and so it's there's a
zillion different edits, and it's usually she does a bit
every week. She puts it out and it's like, you know,
two and a half minutes or whatever. It is very,
very funny. But one of the lines that she had
(25:50):
in the in the thing was oh, in the Cardinals
Cardinals played the Panthers, and like, who knew that game
was even happening? And that was one that when Parker
was over and we were watching Football company around, imagine
if that was the game you were stuck with. Yeah,
oh god, that was terrible. So it was pretty funny.
Speaker 3 (26:14):
The other thing yesterday, it was a lot of heat
on the YouTube video.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
Did you watch the YouTube video?
Speaker 4 (26:20):
I only watched it here. I meant to watch it
on the big screen, but I never.
Speaker 2 (26:24):
Never my sports reporting.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
Yeah, it's a it's a I changed the I realized
I could change the thumbnail, so it's actually me holding
the microne down said of the guy. But I like
how it starts because it's very official because he's introducing me. Yeah,
a new member of the team. Molly Fridley. I had
a couple of friends text me and they're like, that
(26:46):
is hilarious and and that I made a better choice
to not be a sports reporter. I don't think it
was ever going to be my deal.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
Your five minute package on the folly pall.
Speaker 3 (26:57):
Oh my god, who? And you should see my other
one that I did, Granada Hill's High School being an
outstanding school. That one was like seven minutes. I have
all these interviews in there, but they must have asked
me to do it, like they must have wanted it to.
Speaker 2 (27:10):
Be that long. Otherwise.
Speaker 3 (27:11):
Yeah, but I know somewhere there's some football footage of
me interviewing a football team.
Speaker 4 (27:16):
So did that ever air anywhere?
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Or it was the college No, it was the college station.
Speaker 3 (27:22):
So wherever that airs, I have no idea. But I
know I have a basketball one that is really bad,
and I'm just using the verbiage. Is so bad because
with volleyball, at least, you know, I'm not trying to
call the game or anything. But with the basketball, it
was like Boom goes the dynamite. I was trying to
actually commentate on what was going on, and I'm saying
(27:43):
things like you know, from the key from the I
don't I was just made I don't know basketball, and
then the football one was a bad interview and the
guy was, you know, they they could tell he thought
I was really stupid. I'm still looking for those. And
then the acting ones, those are just the a cringe.
I can't wait for those to oh the cringe, the cringe.
Speaker 4 (28:04):
High cringe factor.
Speaker 2 (28:05):
Oh my god.
Speaker 3 (28:07):
I thought that my boyfriend was like the sports one,
you know, it's it's it's not good, but it's not
like total cringe. The acting one he was.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
He was like, oh, he didn't know where to look,
and he was, oh God, are you okay? Are you okay?
It was that bad. Uh huh.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
Plus it's close up and it's just it's bad. And
I think that I actually showed those tapes to my
parents at the time to see how they thought I
was doing. And I think now that I think back,
they probably once they were in the privacy, thought, oh
my god, we got to steer her a different way.
(28:45):
This is not going to be good.
Speaker 2 (28:46):
This is how are we going to tell her she's
such a bad actress?
Speaker 4 (28:50):
Later, maybe a waitress job. Wish you did do for
a while.
Speaker 3 (28:55):
I did, And then I think that my acting got better,
you know, because I do a lot of acting now
and and I do fine, But that was it was
also on film and and and then I think I
have Do you remember that student movie I did out
in Cheeny. This is how stupid I was. I go
out to Chenie to a house in the woods to
(29:17):
film a murder scene. All male crew. I have never
met any of them. They got a hold of me
through the station and said, we think you'd be great.
And then I have to like have a huge but
knife and then fake blood everywhere, and then I have
to go out into the woods and I have to
dig a grave. It occurred to me, I may be
(29:38):
digging my own grave here. This may be a snuff
film or something. And yeah, this is how yeah, and
I and I realized it was cold out there too,
and the lights are on, it's dark, it's nighttime, and
and like.
Speaker 2 (29:52):
That was what was I thinking? That was crazy? But
I did.
Speaker 3 (29:55):
I think I found that it was Eastern students. And
I think I found that one too. That was some
pretty bad acting as well. I think I'm better on
the stage. I don't know.
Speaker 2 (30:09):
I don't know anyway.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
Who Annie who the Texters? Oh Annie Agar is hilarious.
Speaker 2 (30:16):
Yes, she is.
Speaker 4 (30:17):
She is, And I think last year, I think at
the end of last season, I think she had signed
a deal with one of the networks. She's gonna be
you know how you just know, like she's putting so
much into these things, and she gets hundreds of thousands
of views, and you know it's all football people that
watch this. But she's very funny. I mean, even if
(30:39):
you just listen to it, it's she's got she knows
her stuff because it's funny jokes about teams, and you
have to know.
Speaker 3 (30:48):
We have a couple of texts here. Jen wants to
know what's streaming the Honeypot. It's actually called The Wrong
Paris and it's on Netflix. And then Karen says, I
bought a sleep by last month. It's working so great.
So glad I found out about them from listening to
your show. See nice LANDA says, go Seahawks, but remember
(31:13):
they haven't been playing well at home, but well and
oh isn't doing well all either, Yeah, New Orleans.
Speaker 2 (31:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (31:24):
And then Zach Zach Ben and Jerry Zach He says,
did you see that Jerry is leaving?
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Ben?
Speaker 3 (31:30):
And Jerry's that.
Speaker 4 (31:32):
Does because anymore. Oh, didn't didn't pass away.
Speaker 2 (31:39):
We got to meet them, didn't they come to town
for something?
Speaker 4 (31:41):
We met Jerry? Yeah, Jerry came to town.
Speaker 2 (31:44):
Yeah, yeah, we met Jerry. That's weird.
Speaker 3 (31:47):
And then we said that's how they get you. And
we pointed at him and he said, why are you
guys pointing at me?
Speaker 2 (31:53):
I kept doing that, mm hmm.
Speaker 4 (31:57):
Well who all right, Yeah, we'll get to the news
here in just a bit. We have shocking news out
of Scotland. Oh no, this is a thing, the World
Stone Skipping Championship.
Speaker 3 (32:10):
I heard about this, did you. Oh my god, the scandal.
Scandal Oh yes, people do not let yes.
Speaker 4 (32:17):
And we have we have the actual people talking about
these cheaters. People are cheating in the World Stone Skipping Championship.
So that's very something. And then I want to text
my son. I probably share. He's got to be awake now.
It's it's you know, almost ten o'clock there. But in
(32:39):
new Haven, Connecticut, it's the home of Yale, that's where
he is.
Speaker 2 (32:43):
They had they set a world record for a pizza.
Speaker 4 (32:46):
New Haven is They're they're wanting claim to be the
pizza capital of the world. Pizza places everywhere and like
good pizza, like it's it's a thing.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (32:56):
Well, anyway, they're they're very proud of their pizza world there,
and they held a thing to be in the Guinness
Book of World Records and they got the record yesterday.
Speaker 2 (33:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (33:07):
So I don't know if he if he was a
part of it. I don't even know if you even
knew about it.
Speaker 3 (33:10):
But seems like a small enough place that you'd know
it was happening. Whendn't you or is it not a
small place?
Speaker 4 (33:18):
Well, no, it's the campus. I mean you can you
can walk from the campus right into you know, the
streets of New Haven and there's there's a million pizza places.
And I was told that by a bunch of different people,
right said, oh, he's you know, he's going to Yale
and being new Haven. Blah blah blah. Oh you got
to do this pizza place, this one, this one, this one.
(33:39):
There's all kinds of it and they're all like individually
owned places. It's there's no chains. There's just like you know,
Joe's Pizza and Jerry's Pizza and Whoever's pizza, and they're
all that's their home base is new Haven. It's everybody
eats pizza and New Haven anyway, they set the record yesterday.
Speaker 3 (33:58):
Nice.
Speaker 2 (33:58):
So that's kind of.
Speaker 3 (33:59):
Something and it's for they make for making a lot
of pizzast.
Speaker 4 (34:03):
For it is hang on.
Speaker 2 (34:08):
The world's largest pizza party.
Speaker 4 (34:10):
Oh and the Guinness people were there to confirm it.
Four five and twenty five people showed up and eight
over nine thousand slices.
Speaker 2 (34:21):
Oh my god.
Speaker 3 (34:22):
Yeah, that's a big pizza party. That's a little bit
more than you and Parker can do in a session barely. Apparently,
you guys can have a pretty good private party.
Speaker 4 (34:33):
We can each eat a full pizza. Oh my, and
we did. We probed it. So anyway, so we'll have
news on that as well. And then yesterday it actually happened.
The news broke yesterday about Robert Redford passing. Yeah, but
we have in the entertainment news. We'll talk. There's a
lot of stuff that I didn't know about and some
(34:54):
fun facts that go along with that.
Speaker 3 (34:56):
Here's a question for you, because you're more a numbers person.
Yesterday the date Did you know about the date thing? Yes,
I'm listening to the report and it lost me. I
was like, I have no idea what they're talking about
it's squared, and then it's the three.
Speaker 2 (35:12):
Four five right here. Yesterday was triple square day.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
Yeah, it was three to the second power, right, four
to the second power, and five to the second power.
So what that is is so three times three is nine, yeah,
four times four is sixteen. Yeah, and then five times
five is twenty five.
Speaker 3 (35:34):
So they're all squared.
Speaker 2 (35:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (35:36):
So that's so. So you had the nine sixteen twenty five, right, yes,
I did. I didn't know that until yesterday afternoon, and
all the numbers people, of course, were that was a
big celebration.
Speaker 3 (35:49):
Well, they were explaining this theory that is like the
most known math theory. They had the guy from the
math he's the chair of the math department at some university,
and they start talking about it, and I've followed that much. Well,
then they go even deeper and talk about all these things,
and they have words I've never heard of. And the guy,
you can tell, he's like almost shaking, he's so excited
(36:10):
about it, and he said, this will this will never
happen again in our lifetimes. This only happens once in
a lifetime. And and so you could just hear his excitement.
It made me laugh, but I could not follow it.
I was they just lost me there, because there's more
to that than than there was a three four five
thing that is the theory of something. And then I
(36:31):
mean he just went on and on.
Speaker 2 (36:33):
Yesterday was a very special day.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
Very for the math people, very special day.
Speaker 4 (36:37):
So I kept thinking, well, that's that's why. Look, that's why,
great things will happen. I kept waiting something great to happen. No,
sometimes great things don't have.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
Sometimes you do September. Yeah, well all.
Speaker 4 (36:50):
Right, and then later in the show, of course, we
will have the showdown that'll be scheduled for eight o'clock
and then fun Facts returns today.
Speaker 2 (36:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
Well, last year you got us week.
Speaker 4 (37:00):
Last week we had to postpone it because we had
we were so busy two weeks ago.
Speaker 3 (37:04):
The last time we did it, you got us and
that didn't sit.
Speaker 2 (37:08):
Well.
Speaker 4 (37:09):
Oh, here's a chance to go all right, we'll get
to all that and more. This is the Dave and
Molly Show. We are live from the Numerica Studios. We'll

This news segment is brought to you by Silverwood Find
them at silverwoodthemepark dot com.
Speaker 2 (38:31):
All right, we'll get to the news of the day.
Speaker 4 (38:33):
Oh man, this is worldwide shocking news. Anytime that we're
talking about the world Stone skipping championships.
Speaker 2 (38:44):
It's a slow news day.
Speaker 4 (38:46):
Yeah, yeah, but major scandal, international scandal, right, skipping stones.
You know, it's people do it for fun, but there's
actually a real competition that goes on, like how many
skips across the lake or how far it goes all.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
That kind of stuff.
Speaker 4 (39:06):
Well, the World Stone Skipping Championships were held and they
had a cheating scandal. Yeah, and it's pretty bad. This
is after some of the competitors people competing for the championship.
Some of the competitors were found to be using suspiciously
(39:28):
circular stones. Huh, the stones had been altered, they say.
In the world of stone skipping, you have to the
competition rules say that it must the stone must become
from a naturally occurring island slate and fit through a
device called the ring of truth. Oh, this to ensure
(39:53):
that they're the right size. So you can't have any
stone bigger than three inches in diameter. And the champion
ship's organizer says that when the offenders were caught, they
held their hands up and ultimately apologized. They were immediately disqualified.
Speaker 3 (40:10):
Well, yeah they were.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
He said.
Speaker 4 (40:12):
There was a little bit of stone doctoring. They'd shape
it so it was perfectly circular and fitted in the
three inch measur The problem was that they didn't notice
it at the time, They just noticed that they were
suspiciously circular. This is an event that is held in Scotland. However,
(40:35):
the champion, the world champion stone skipper, is an American.
Jonathan Jennings is his name. He managed to skip a
stone for a total of one hundred and seventy seven meters.
Speaker 3 (40:46):
How many feet is that?
Speaker 4 (40:49):
That's over five hundred and eighty feet what? So like
two football fields?
Speaker 2 (40:56):
Wow?
Speaker 3 (40:58):
That is that? Okay?
Speaker 2 (40:59):
All right, okay.
Speaker 3 (41:01):
How could you throw something that have that much?
Speaker 4 (41:04):
You know, you have to it has to be a
perfectly you know, perfect stone and you got to throw
it just the perfect amount. So yeah, so it skips
all across.
Speaker 3 (41:13):
Yeah, but I mean even that, it just seems like
that seems crazy. Think about how hard it is to
hit a golf ball that far, you know, like, and
now you have a stone that just keeps going and
it must be the way.
Speaker 2 (41:28):
What was the thing the Ring of Truth? What was
it called the Ring of Truth?
Speaker 4 (41:32):
Yeah, it's a measureror.
Speaker 2 (41:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (41:36):
This is Kyle Matthews of the World Stone Skipping Championship
talking about what happened and the men that disgraced their sport.
Speaker 5 (41:46):
Unfortunately by a very small number of competitors that they
had use some machinery to smooth the outside edge of
their stone and make it exactly perfectly round to fit
through our measurer, which is called the ring of truth.
Speaker 2 (42:03):
It's a real story, you guys.
Speaker 3 (42:07):
You know there's something very nice about just a simple,
simple little competition thing and just you know, makes them happy.
I would love to be at the campfire or the
bar afterwards with all of the jargon, because you know
they have jargon.
Speaker 2 (42:24):
Oh you do a hop skip?
Speaker 3 (42:25):
Oh no, three five skip or whatever you know they've
got to have. So now I want to know what
they're lingo is, like, what they what they're chatting about,
because it's a world that very few of us know.
All of us have done.
Speaker 4 (42:42):
It, but not and then and then how do you
introduce yourself to my friends?
Speaker 2 (42:48):
Do you?
Speaker 4 (42:48):
I mean, are you bold enough to say, oh, what
do you do for a living? Or what's your story?
Speaker 2 (42:54):
Well?
Speaker 4 (42:55):
I don't like to talk about it very much, but
I am the world champion stone skipping champion. Oh that's
quite impressive.
Speaker 2 (43:03):
Oh how did you win?
Speaker 4 (43:05):
Well it was in scholar Well I actually finished second,
but the first team was disqualify it because they their
stone did fit through the Ring of Truth. However, it
was found to be an altered stone, and therefore I
got to be the champion. So I mean, do you
do you.
Speaker 3 (43:22):
Or if you're at a party and then and then
what Jonathan is there and then his buddy goes, Jonathan's
gonna kill me for telling you this, but he is,
he's the champion. Then no, Well, I don't like to
talk about it too much. Something for everybody. That's the
good thing about the world. I I at one point
(43:46):
in my life was I could do a pretty good
job of it, and I don't know how to do
it now. Like you know, once you once you get it,
once somebody shows you, then it's it's it makes sense.
But until you get the in the groove of it, you.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
Just clink clink. Yeah. I haven't tried it in a
long time.
Speaker 4 (44:08):
There used to be when I lived in New York
it was it was it was like a townhouse, but
there was a it was like a big pond, I
mean almost lake size, huge body of water, but it
was man made. You know, it's kind of a thing
in the middle. And that was a deal where we
would do that. Yeah, and you know, you get you
get the right stone. But that's why the stone is important.
(44:28):
You can have the right you know, the you know, yeah,
flicking it with your wrist and having it low to
the ground so it skips across. But the stone is key.
Speaker 2 (44:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (44:38):
And so like, what was the most skips you ever had?
Speaker 4 (44:42):
Oh maybe twenty or something. I mean it was pretty yeah,
but you know, it's a it's a it was a
perfect body of water for that because it's not you know,
it's like a pond or a you know, large pond.
And if and you could you know, if you got
low to the ground and you hit it skip pretty good. Wow,
And then you felt bad if you had a really
(45:04):
good stone, it was a bad throw. And then it's
halfway to the you know, in the middle of the
pond before it even has its first skip. Right, you
get the first skip early, and so it you know, and.
Speaker 3 (45:15):
You only get one try with the stone right because
it's gone. So that's another thing. You don't want to
waste it. Yeah, I don't waste a good stone. So
when they're doing this championship, it's they've got to warm
up in practice. But then you got to save your
good stone for the big show. Right now, I'm thinking
of the logistics of it all.
Speaker 2 (45:37):
It seems I don't know.
Speaker 4 (45:39):
I love that it's an American that goes over to Scotland, Yiss.
They're like the people in Scotland say, hey, this is
our event, this is super cool. We're the host, this
is our turf. And then someone comes in there and
then people cheat. And I know the details of the cheaters.
I don't think that the cheaters were not America.
Speaker 2 (46:00):
No, I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (46:01):
I think they were from the there their locals, I
think so.
Speaker 2 (46:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (46:06):
I had heard just just the headlines on the national news,
the MPR news, and it was just it was just
that somebody had cheated, there was a scandal, and that
they had admitted and that was you know, it was
a short story. But I didn't know about the ring
of truth until now. Now, when you're doing the deep dive,
(46:26):
you're digging in as a journalist should.
Speaker 4 (46:29):
Now, then the other conversation you want to know is
there is there? Because it makes it sound like there's
teams here right.
Speaker 2 (46:38):
Oh, maybe because it says it says.
Speaker 4 (46:44):
When the offenders were caught, they held up their hands
and ultimately apologized. So I'm assuming that there's teams. So
here's my here's another thought. Okay, like those people are
they are they like at the bar right a couple
of nights before. Hey, Joe, I have this idea. If
you know, I got a machine to smooth out the stone.
(47:06):
What do you think? Are you in?
Speaker 2 (47:08):
Oh? Yeah, we're in.
Speaker 4 (47:09):
Then this is they are all conspiring to cheat. Then
you got you know, it's not just one person that's right,
the offenders.
Speaker 3 (47:18):
And then I wonder what the prize was. Is it
just for pride or is there a cash prize.
Speaker 4 (47:24):
It's a very small cash prize and it's mostly for
like raising money for charity. But people will go to
this like it's like like, oh, what are you guys
doing on Saturday? Oh we're going to you know, the
World Stone Skipping Championship.
Speaker 3 (47:41):
I need to look up and I want to get
a look at the guys who cheated. So I'm going
to look up stone Stone. What is it called Stone
Skipping Championships?
Speaker 4 (47:52):
Skipping in Scotland.
Speaker 3 (47:53):
But I'm cheating. I'm going to look at cheating. It's
a headline.
Speaker 4 (47:58):
I like how the headline is the world Stone Skipping
Championship in Scotland were rocked.
Speaker 2 (48:04):
That's what this is.
Speaker 4 (48:05):
Cheating scandal.
Speaker 3 (48:06):
This is cheating scandal rocks World Stone Skipping Championship. That's
the BBC reporting cheating scandal. Nearly sinks World Stones Skipping
Championship Rock in a hard place. World Stone Championship tossed
into scandal. World Stones get barred by cheating scandal. I
(48:31):
love that they all have different headlines. That is amazing.
Some were rocked, some were okay, So who who were they?
Speaker 4 (48:40):
Though? This the story that I have does not doesn't
name them, doesn't name them, and it doesn't say where
they were from. The only thing it does say is
that it was an American that did win the thing?
Speaker 3 (48:52):
Got it? Uh, I'm gonna just I'll try one thing
and see if But yeah, I see this the other.
Speaker 4 (49:00):
If you go to this competition and you don't win, like.
Speaker 3 (49:03):
What, yeah, you fly, you can do it, like you
raise money. We gotta get Joe to Scotland. It's his dream,
it's this dream, and then.
Speaker 2 (49:11):
You don't win.
Speaker 3 (49:14):
I love this cheating scandal. Nearly Sings. Cheating scandal rocks
the world Tampers tampered with their stones to help it bounce.
World Stone Championship h rocked by cheating storm after pebbles
(49:35):
were found to be doctored. I love it, doctoring Stone boy.
And you know what, every publication carried it. The New
York Times had the story, the BBC, the New York Post.
Speaker 4 (49:53):
It's quite a story.
Speaker 2 (49:54):
Yeah, well, I'm glad we could.
Speaker 3 (49:57):
I'm glad we could dig a little deeper into it
and get the whole thing, you know, because now.
Speaker 4 (50:04):
We know the other story. This actually happened on Friday,
New Haven, Connecticut. They're trying very hard to be the
pizza capital of the world. Yes, and in New Haven
there's a pizza place every block, multiple ones, and they're
all one of a kind places and they all have
their own special way of doing it. They're very proud
(50:24):
of pizza in New ha.
Speaker 3 (50:24):
Yeah, sounds like it.
Speaker 4 (50:26):
They just broke the world record for the largest pizza party.
This was on Friday. It has now been confirmed by
the Guinness Book of World Record.
Speaker 2 (50:35):
People.
Speaker 4 (50:36):
They had four thousand, five hundred and twenty five people
show up and those people all ate over nine thousand slices.
Speaker 3 (50:45):
So how many people showed up for forty five hundred
and they ate nine thousands, so really like.
Speaker 4 (50:51):
More two about two slices per person, but it all
has to be in one concentrated area, right, Yeah, and
so that's that's why it's a that's why it's a
world record. Yeah, it's a fun record to try and break.
You just gotta, you know, get the word out.
Speaker 2 (51:06):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (51:06):
But you know, you can get almost five thousand people
to show up for anything, that's quite something. Here are
some of the attendees talking about the new world records.
Speaker 6 (51:15):
Okay, it's great energy to see the whole city to
come together. I feel like it's not often we get
to connect with the New Haven community, but just seeing
everyone here and joining pizza. The pizza is amazing. The
people are amazing, the energy is amazing.
Speaker 7 (51:26):
I think I've never felt more love from a community ever, ever.
Speaker 2 (51:29):
Ever.
Speaker 7 (51:30):
This was all love, all pizza, and we built something
historical here today. We got the world's largest pizza party
because everybody came out.
Speaker 6 (51:38):
There's like all these people that are eating two pieces
of pizza and down in some water.
Speaker 3 (51:42):
But it's for a great cause of putting New Haven
yet again on the map as a pizza.
Speaker 6 (51:46):
Capital of the nation.
Speaker 4 (51:47):
Pizza capital of the nation.
Speaker 3 (51:48):
Oh what if here we go? Oh what if we
combine the pizza party with the skipping.
Speaker 2 (51:54):
Of the stones?
Speaker 3 (51:54):
Oh and what if you found out somebody cheated on
the pizza thing?
Speaker 2 (51:58):
How do you cheat it? I don't know.
Speaker 3 (52:03):
Those are two Those are two events that it takes
takes the.
Speaker 2 (52:09):
People who I just world.
Speaker 3 (52:12):
It's part of our world, and it's nice that it's
a very happy place. But when the guy said he's
never ever ever felt so much love ever and the
historical and you know, the capital of the world.
Speaker 4 (52:27):
I need to ask my son about that, because I'm
wondering if they had to because New Haven, the downtown
area of New Haven is you know, it's uh. I
don't know that that's going to attract a lot of people.
So I think they had to have some of the
Yale students be a part of that. Plus college kid
(52:48):
even though it is Yale, you say free pizza, you
know that's your kids are going to come out. So
I'm assuming that there were, you know, lots of students
that were a part of them.
Speaker 3 (52:59):
Oh, I would imagine a good portion of it.
Speaker 4 (53:02):
And then I think that the the all the pizza
places get together, you know, they're all in competition, right,
because they're all they're all individually owned, and they're all different.
So it's like, well, we're you know, if they're eating
at Joe's Pizza Place, then we're losing them, you know.
Speaker 3 (53:20):
You know, it's good for the pizza place because it's
t it's a good chance to let everybody chase their stuff.
Speaker 2 (53:28):
New Haven, Connecticut, pizza capital of the world. They're very
proud of that.
Speaker 3 (53:33):
Yes, got it.
Speaker 4 (53:34):
Here's some some fast food news. Okay, breaking news. So now,
when you get a burger at Wendy's, describe what goes
on that burger and in detail, everybody knows what it is.
Speaker 3 (53:44):
Right, Cheese, And then you got their onions and stuff,
right they do. They have lettuce, tomato onions. Let us
tomato onions.
Speaker 4 (53:52):
You know, Describe the tomato and describe the lettuce.
Speaker 3 (53:55):
It's a it's a round tomato, it's a slice, and
then it's a it's a piece of lettuce.
Speaker 4 (54:00):
Right, they're changing that. No, they're switching to shredded lettuce.
Speaker 3 (54:06):
Oh, I don't think they should do that. Shredded lettuce
goes on a big mac, but it does not. And
interesting fun fact, the only thing that the shredded lettuce
and a McDonald's. The only time they're using it is
for the big BAC. Doesn't go on anything else. That's
unless no way, I could be wrong. Maybe some of
(54:27):
the chicken sandwiches they add it on to. I think
there's a there is a chicken sandwich that I think
they add the lettuce. It's I have seen it with
the mayo. It's like a. I think it's it's a
it's a mayo sauce. The kids get it. It's a.
They may use it on that, but if you think
about all the other burgers, they don't get that. And
remember the remember McDonald's when they tried to do the burger, Yeah,
(54:51):
and they use real lettuce like slight that was no,
and a tomato and and they don't have any tomatoes
at McDonald's.
Speaker 2 (54:59):
No.
Speaker 4 (55:00):
So the thing with Wendy's was always that you know
that you had the real piece of lettuce, and it
was always like, you know, a big leaf across and
it had a little bit of a crunch to it. Yea,
it'd be like the hard part of it and then
and then tomato. And I always thought that's that's kind
of their thing. I like the texture of that. Well,
that's all going away. Huh. Wendy's is in the process
(55:21):
of switching from whole leafed romaine lettuce to shreddus shredded
iceberg lettuce for it's burgers and chicken sandwiches. Boy, they
slowly have been rolling this out at select locations. Our
locations were not selected at places during the summer. And
(55:42):
then they say, by the end of next year, everyone
will just have shredded lettuce instead. And I don't know,
what does that make it easier?
Speaker 3 (55:49):
Well, I would imagine it.
Speaker 4 (55:50):
Dumped the whole, you know, all the lettuce into a shredder.
Maybe it is easier.
Speaker 3 (55:54):
Well, And if you think about the logistics of lettuce,
lettuce is one of those things that has to be clean,
and it has to be or people will get sick.
And now you think about fast food situation, and then
you have to, you know, prepare the lettuce and get
it so it's on the thing. And sometimes it's inconsistent too.
You get a bad part of lettuce and it's kind
(56:16):
of a bummer, like, you know, got the yucky part.
Speaker 4 (56:19):
Wendy says the change was made to improve lettuce consistency
and maintain a reliable supply. The romaine was hard leafed
at each location. That's what I remember. It's like that,
the crunchy part of it. Yeah, they say the shredded
lettuce will arrive prepared in packages, so there's a convenience
(56:41):
factor as well.
Speaker 2 (56:42):
Sure, I think it'll probably save a lot of the
prep time. Who has though?
Speaker 3 (56:47):
Is it Carl's Junior that has the iceberg lettuce on?
Maybe it's Burger King that has it. Burger King has lettuce,
They have regular lettuce on their I think Burger King
makes a good burger And you know, I brought the
kids there a couple of times with the play place,
(57:08):
and I would say that the kids meals I liked
better too than the than the don't tell McDonald's I
want to hurt their business, but I mean I thought
that the meals seemed better. And I had a wrap
that was there that was tasty.
Speaker 2 (57:22):
It was good.
Speaker 4 (57:23):
Someone on the text line did well, multiple people. Now, uh,
let they used lettuce in the snack wraps. Remember when
they brought the snack.
Speaker 2 (57:30):
Rassatro Oh, they brought them back.
Speaker 4 (57:34):
Used in that as well. People do know.
Speaker 3 (57:36):
That that's true. I forgot about that and then they
used to have salads for a while. The pandemic knocked
that out. They had they had three salads at McDonald's
and they were decent, you know, something you could have
that wasn't lunky.
Speaker 2 (57:51):
And and then and then after they just took them away.
Speaker 3 (57:55):
I think they just said, you know what, people have
given up on themselves, just give them this. Nobody's no
one's coming to McDonald's for a salad. I think for
the moms in the world and the Grammars of the world, Like,
if you have to take the kids all the fast
food all the time, you can't eat it like that
all the time.
Speaker 2 (58:10):
You got to have a salad.
Speaker 3 (58:12):
The wraps are a good, good alternative.
Speaker 4 (58:14):
I guess that's the McDonald's thing with the with the
whole you know, healthy part. And it's kind of like
kind of like Vegas when there was a time. This
is hard to believe, but there was a time when
Vegas was saying, oh, we want to be the family place. Yeah,
and it was a total disaster they had and the
books have been written about it. I mean it's really
(58:36):
a big like it's on the level of the New Coke,
you know, where somebody thought it was a great idea.
So they had they built many amusement parks on the
strip and it was like they thought, we're going to
We're going to be the family destinies. You bring the kids,
come to Vegas.
Speaker 2 (58:52):
Whatever.
Speaker 4 (58:53):
Well that didn't work. Then they went the complete opposite,
and that's what worked was what happens in Vegas stays
in Vegas. You leave the kids at home, and it's craziness.
And then they used they took all the places where
they had the amusement parks and they turned them into
more casino space, more live venues, music. So that's what
(59:14):
that's how it worked. And then now it's cycling back
because Vegas is hurting right now, I.
Speaker 3 (59:20):
Think, and I think that Vegas has now turned into
a foody concert. But we were talking about this the
other day, and it used to be, you know, if
you could get yourself to Vegas, if you could stay
for cheap, you could eat for cheap. They have five
dollars buffets everywhere and drink for nothing if you were gambling. Well,
(59:41):
now it is so expensive to stay there.
Speaker 4 (59:44):
It's coming back though, it's kind of the prices are
coming down there. They theyre there did they're down they're hurting.
Speaker 2 (59:51):
Well, we got to help them. We do have to
help them. Well, you haven't been there in three years.
That's part of the problem problem. But if you because
it is.
Speaker 3 (59:59):
It's like we talked about the Lost Leader with getting
the you know, the chickens from Costco.
Speaker 2 (01:00:05):
It's the same thing.
Speaker 3 (01:00:06):
Just get them there, make the flights reasonable, make the
well they can't help that, but make the hotels cheap.
Get them there, and that's you're not making all the
money off the hotel rooms, you know. And then there's
enough people who want to go there for concerts or
to see shows, or to eat the good food because
(01:00:26):
now the food is it also used to be you
really couldn't get good food in Vegas. It was buffets.
It was like you know, you just there was no
good food. Now that's a huge part of it. I
don't know, I don't have any great desire to go
back to Vegas, but I would like to see that
Wizard of Oz thing in the sphere. It looks so cool.
Speaker 2 (01:00:46):
Have you seen any of it?
Speaker 3 (01:00:48):
So they put the Wizard of Oz in the sphere,
but it's an interactive thing, so when the wind blows,
it blows in there and little papers fly around when
they shake the at the tree apple like foam apples fall,
and the people have the most amazing video of it.
You're all surrounded by the movie and you're in.
Speaker 2 (01:01:06):
The the actual movie that.
Speaker 3 (01:01:07):
Yeah, oh well, yeah, it looks really cool.
Speaker 2 (01:01:10):
I know.
Speaker 4 (01:01:11):
The Eagles just signed up for another run after the
first of the year, so they're they're doing things. And
that's one of those deals where I thought of all
the bands, like why why pick the Sphere?
Speaker 2 (01:01:25):
But it works.
Speaker 4 (01:01:27):
I have friends that have shot secret video in there,
and yeah, it's pretty cool. It does look pretty cool.
But you know when the when the Fear started, the
Sphere started, you too, and they had the whole spectacular thing.
And so then to go from that to the Eagles,
you know, old guys playing old songs, it's like, well,
what are you going to what's the visual that's going
(01:01:48):
to be so stimulating and so super cool? Well there
is something.
Speaker 3 (01:01:53):
Yeah, and so I've seen little little clips and it's
that desert and it looks really I'd like to see
something in it. When we were there, we could have
seen I guess we could have seen you too. It
was when they were doing they had some tickets I
remember we were wiped out and just I don't know,
but even just looking at it from the outside, what
what used to be where that is? Because it's right
near the Sahara Sahara, that's where we stayed last time,
(01:02:17):
and you could see it right out the windows basically
of that hotel. But I'm trying to think.
Speaker 4 (01:02:22):
That's a good go. I don't know what.
Speaker 2 (01:02:24):
Was there, because it's odd.
Speaker 4 (01:02:26):
The only time I ever went out there was back
in the old days, that used to be the Westgate
sports Book, and they were the sports book for the
whole country, like whatever their lines were for betting lines,
that's what everybody took. Now, of course everyone has something
like that, but in the in the old days, they
were it was the west Book or west you know,
(01:02:48):
west something anyway that was that was always the place,
and that's in that area. But now it's you know
that that area is kind of coming back. It's kind
of in between the Strip and then downtown and.
Speaker 3 (01:03:03):
And that we this I like to the Sahara because
it was you know, you have to mean to get there,
you don't just stumble in there. And so for us,
the casino is very nice and the you know it's
a nice and the tram goes right there, then you
can get it. Yeah, that was that was good.
Speaker 4 (01:03:21):
Yeah, I did the When I did the Rock and
Roll Marathon, you had to go pick up your packet
at the convention center and you went the tram went
right by there.
Speaker 2 (01:03:29):
Oh, perfect West is the sports book? That's think of you?
Last story here?
Speaker 5 (01:03:36):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:03:36):
Senior citizens, they want to cancel the word senior. Why
why make them sound old?
Speaker 2 (01:03:44):
What do they want?
Speaker 4 (01:03:46):
According to the Internet, senior citizens are trying to change
the word senior. They think it sounds old and they
don't like to be reminded of it. Okay, that part
is true. Uh, but you know, let's be honest, senior
citizens are old. But the younger boomers, the ones in
their early sixties, they want to separate themselves from the
(01:04:10):
older boomers.
Speaker 2 (01:04:12):
That makes sense, kind of like how.
Speaker 4 (01:04:13):
The older millennials want to separate themselves from the younger ones.
Speaker 2 (01:04:17):
It's a thing.
Speaker 4 (01:04:19):
Instead, they're calling themselves generation Jones. They don't want to
identify as boomers because that, you know, that's that's too old.
They think, Yeah, so they want to be generation Jones.
Speaker 3 (01:04:34):
You know, I do feel bad when I'm at the
casino and there's this little old lady in front of
me and she's getting the same reward that I am
for Senior Day. It doesn't seem right. It seems like, okay,
you're senior junior, you're a mini mini senior.
Speaker 4 (01:04:48):
Well here's how they at the golf tournament, the one,
the manitot one. It's like it's a senior, you know
it's but fifty is the number. If you're over fifty,
you're in the scene. Well, if you're over sixty five,
super senior. They called the super seniors. And for our
super seniors, you guys have this, this and this.
Speaker 2 (01:05:07):
Oh boy, yeah, so that's so.
Speaker 3 (01:05:10):
Now pretty soon you'll be able to be stop it
stop stop.
Speaker 4 (01:05:13):
No, I'm never going to be there never, No, not
going to happen. Super senior doesn't that I like it.
That's a different category.
Speaker 3 (01:05:23):
That's pretty good. Yeah, but it doesn't. It does seem
like they they need to be separated out because you're
right at the edge of Boomer, right, No, I'm yes,
you and Ken are like right like this side of
Boomer and then I'm in the next. But yeah, you
compared to you know.
Speaker 4 (01:05:42):
I did have a moment yesterday. Well, there were a
couple of moments, and I'll reveal them in the days
and weeks ahead. But when I was playing card yesterday,
a couple of guys sit down, younger guys and we'll
start chating there. They were fun guys, like they were
there to have a good time, and and we start
talking everything. They said, so.
Speaker 2 (01:06:01):
What do you what do you do? Man?
Speaker 4 (01:06:02):
You retired? And they're not. They weren't even from here,
you know, so yeah, and I said, oh no, no.
And then but the dealer knew. You know what I
didn't is do you want me to tell them what
you do? And I said no, that's fine. And I
was running out of money anyway, so I was like,
I'm going to be out of here soon.
Speaker 2 (01:06:17):
I don't want to.
Speaker 4 (01:06:19):
But they, I think, just by looking at me, they
thought I was a guy that would be retired. I
was like, well, that doesn't make me feel.
Speaker 3 (01:06:25):
Very that's a new that's a new one that is.
But but you know what, there's a lot of people
who I look at who are retired and I would
never guess that they are retired. So I think we're
getting into that world where they look like us and
they're getting to be retired, which yeah, my response if
somebody says, so are you retired, I'm like, I'll never retire.
Speaker 2 (01:06:48):
No, that's I don't have.
Speaker 4 (01:06:49):
And for for me the same thing. I I will,
but but it's for multiple reasons. A but money, but
B this is this is this is fun, Like I
don't there's no Yeah, you know, the hardest part is
getting up in the morning, and then that's over in seconds.
Like once you're up in your moved, it's like, I'm good.
And then we get to, you know, talk about scone
(01:07:10):
Stone skipping scandals and pizza events and being a super senior.
All these things are fun to talk about.
Speaker 3 (01:07:18):
Yeah, it's true, it's true.
Speaker 2 (01:07:20):
So I retire.
Speaker 3 (01:07:23):
Well, I threw a text out, I'm seeing no no answer.
But but we should mention what's happening on Friday.
Speaker 2 (01:07:32):
We should talk about the Dutch Ball Yeah, yes, yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:07:35):
Because we were trying to get Kevin Parker to come
in and talk about it. But you know, Dutch bros.
They do their give what do they call it giving back?
The they have a name for it. It's their day
of giving and it's this Friday, and the money is
going to the Dave kennam Ony Christmas Fund a dollar
from each drink. That's so so it's it's big for us.
It's huge, and it kind of snuck up.
Speaker 4 (01:07:54):
So and and so we're telling everybody were just a
couple of days away from this, So please plan your
Friday to swing by Dutch Bros. If you're not doing
that already, it's a big deal for us. And you
pay no difference. You're you're going to get the same
drink at the same price. They are doing the kind
thing and taking a dollar from all that and then
(01:08:17):
putting it in our pot.
Speaker 3 (01:08:18):
Yeah, which it's great.
Speaker 2 (01:08:20):
You can also make.
Speaker 4 (01:08:21):
Other donations too, but that's that's the easy way. It
doesn't cost you anything extra. Just go through one of
the thirteen different Dutch Bros Across the area and get
a drink on Friday, and that.
Speaker 3 (01:08:34):
Helps us and it'll be, you know, before you know it,
it'll be the holidays and we'll be you'll see all that.
It's going to be different this year too, because it's
going to be Last year we did deliveries, we did
we partnered with lots of people, but it wasn't it
was a little under the radar. This year, you'll see
it a lot more, be way more visible and stuff.
Speaker 4 (01:08:53):
And so in three months we're a week away from
Christmas Eve.
Speaker 2 (01:08:56):
Oh my god when you put it like that.
Speaker 3 (01:09:01):
And the other announcement is that tomorrow will have an
announcement about our party. Yeah, we're gonna have an anniversary
party next week, but we can't disclose the details yet, right, but.
Speaker 4 (01:09:12):
Well let's say this though, Okay, just so give people
a heads up. Our anniversary date is Tuesday twenty third.
Wednesday will be the event night, right, we should probably
say just give people heads they might be clearing out there. Well,
it's the twenty third.
Speaker 3 (01:09:33):
And then today's anniversary of our party at the Fox.
Speaker 4 (01:09:39):
Our big announcement.
Speaker 3 (01:09:40):
Yeah, all the memories were on the Facebook.
Speaker 2 (01:09:42):
That was fun, look and I need to do that.
Speaker 3 (01:09:44):
That was a fun day. It was It was the
day that we thought everything is fine, because up till
then people did not know what was happening, and we
couldn't tell.
Speaker 2 (01:09:56):
Anyone, you know. Even there there was a few.
Speaker 4 (01:10:01):
Sponsors that we could kind of get word out to them,
but they were sworn to secrecy and all that.
Speaker 2 (01:10:06):
Come. Yeah, it's a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:10:07):
This is a very important time here, so keep your Wednesday,
early evening open, especially.
Speaker 4 (01:10:15):
If you're in the Power two hundred.
Speaker 3 (01:10:16):
Uh huh.
Speaker 4 (01:10:17):
But this will be an all call. This will be
an all inclusive thing. Even if you're not in the
Power two hundred, we still would like you to be
at the big event. Yes, they'll be seniors there, they'll
be super seniors there. All right, we'll take a break.
When we return, we'll get to the entertainment news. A
lot of it will be the Robert Redford stuff. We
(01:10:39):
touched on it yesterday when the news broke. But there
are some things in here that you know what I
didn't know. It was quite something. So we'll get to
that and a few other things as well. This is
the David Molly Show, Live from the Numerica Studios.
Speaker 2 (01:11:02):
Here's some food for thought.
Speaker 8 (01:11:03):
Northern Quest gave away more money than ever last month.
Speaker 2 (01:11:07):
Over eighteen million dollars. Think about it. That's over five
hundred eighty nine thousand dollars a day. Think a little
harder and it works out to over two hundred million
dollars a year, which might make you think about what
you do with that kind of cash. Just don't think
too long. There's four hundred and nine dollars a minute
on the line here Northern Quest Yes the best.
Speaker 8 (01:11:30):
Hi.

Entertainment news brought to you by Golden Rule Break.
Speaker 2 (01:12:40):
Are you sure ready for entertainment news?
Speaker 8 (01:12:42):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (01:12:43):
The big story, of course from yesterday, and we we
had it sort of as breaking news at the time,
the passing of Robert Redford. Yeah, a true Hollywood icon, right, Yeah,
there's not many. It's like, okay, well he was legit.
He was a big he was eighty nine. Here's what
(01:13:04):
I did. Well, I'm gonna start with the stuff I
didn't know. Okay, the first time he ever directed a movie. Yeah,
he won Best Director Oscar for right, I know, for.
Speaker 2 (01:13:15):
Ordinary People.
Speaker 3 (01:13:16):
Oh wow, So I just like, I think I'll direct
a movie. Oh I think I'll win. I was the
best I was the best one. Yeah, it's my first time.
Speaker 2 (01:13:25):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (01:13:26):
We all know he broke into the movies in the
sixties and seventies, Butch Casting, The Sundance Kid, All The
President's Men, Three Days of the Condor, The Sting. Those
were all, you know, big, critically acclaimed movies, some of
them won Best Picture. And then as a director, he
won an Oscar for his very first film, Ordinary People
in nineteen eighty man. He also directed A River Runs
(01:13:51):
through It. I think that was the one that Cali
was talking about yesterday. Quiz Show was a great movie.
Oh yeah, I didn't know that he directed.
Speaker 2 (01:13:58):
That either and the Worse Whisper you drafted and started worse.
How are you doing over there to come over here?
Are you tired? Stop bucking? How's your roads?
Speaker 7 (01:14:13):
Uh?
Speaker 2 (01:14:13):
And then the Legend of Bagger Vance.
Speaker 4 (01:14:15):
Oh that was another great movie, one of a friend,
Kevin Parker's favorite movie.
Speaker 8 (01:14:20):
Uh.
Speaker 4 (01:14:20):
He continued acting, and then he had had the Natural
he had Out of Africa and Indecent Proposal, which we
talked about yesterday, which I didn't think was terrible.
Speaker 3 (01:14:31):
They put that on the clunker list, Yeah, they did.
You know, not many bad movies in that.
Speaker 4 (01:14:36):
He didn't make bad movies. No, I don't have a
list of all the movies, but I think if you
listed them all, I don't no one would say, oh,
that was awful.
Speaker 8 (01:14:47):
No.
Speaker 3 (01:14:47):
I was looking at the list.
Speaker 4 (01:14:48):
You never had a bad performance.
Speaker 3 (01:14:50):
No, No, Yeah, I was looking at the list and
they were all high, you know, highly acclaimed, highly acclaimed, highly.
Speaker 2 (01:15:00):
One.
Speaker 4 (01:15:00):
He founded the Sundance Institute to champion independent film and
new cinematic voices, and then in nineteen eighty four he
started the Sundance Film Festival in Park.
Speaker 2 (01:15:12):
City, Utah.
Speaker 4 (01:15:13):
Nice here is they talk about the chemistry of Robert
Redford and Paul Newman. They were in multiple movies together,
and I was talking about this scene yesterday when they're
getting ready to jump off the cliff. When they jump
off the cliff, they say whoa, whoa, whoa, and then
he says the S word all the way down. Well,
when you're a teenage boy, that's hilarious. This is the
(01:15:37):
seconds leading up to that. This is one of their
classic scenes from Butch Cassidy and The Sundance Kid.
Speaker 3 (01:15:42):
Well, the way I figured we need a fight or
give forgive, we go to jail.
Speaker 4 (01:15:46):
I've been there already. No real jump like, hell, we will, Well,
we got to otherwise we're dead.
Speaker 2 (01:15:52):
Get away from me. Why I want to fight him?
All right, I'll jump first.
Speaker 4 (01:15:55):
No, then you jump first?
Speaker 2 (01:15:57):
Oh, I said, what's the matter with you?
Speaker 1 (01:15:59):
I can't Why are you crazy?
Speaker 2 (01:16:07):
The fall will probably kill you.
Speaker 4 (01:16:12):
And it's a great scene because I don't know how
this is back in the early seventies. I think when
that movie came out, and it's two guys jumping off
a cliff into a long fall into a river. Yeah,
I'm sure they had stunt people, but even since the
stunt itself was pretty like Wow, that.
Speaker 3 (01:16:32):
Was because they weren't doing CGIs No.
Speaker 2 (01:16:35):
It was a real yeah, and it was quite a fall.
Speaker 4 (01:16:38):
It's a great movie. So have you seen that movie?
Please don't say you haven't seen it.
Speaker 2 (01:16:43):
Oh no, I have years ago.
Speaker 3 (01:16:46):
Think about it though, Think about when it came out,
how old I was, and then when it became available,
and I mean, I know I have, yes, come across
it and watched portions of it, but I don't know,
there's that whole section of seventy movies that I wasn't
old enough to watch and vhs didn't come out, you know,
(01:17:06):
and so the gap was weird. So a lot of
those classic sort of and just the subject matter wasn't
necessarily something I'd be interested. And so that was my dark.
Speaker 4 (01:17:15):
Like a you know, it's a true story, and I've
taken as you know, I take a lot of movie
lines and then I incorporate them into.
Speaker 2 (01:17:25):
My That is the first I'm hearing about.
Speaker 4 (01:17:28):
But one of the things he tell they're doing was
like he convinces him to go to Bolivia, right, and
they end up in Bolivia, and he's talking about like
he knows Bolivia very well and all this kind of
stuff and then he basically says, how do you know
you've never been here? This could be the place that
(01:17:49):
everyone in Bolivia can't wait to be here for and
you're saying that this, you know. It was like, so
I used that as kind of a thing like if
you don't know something, you can't say that it's the
worst place in this area or the best place because.
Speaker 2 (01:18:06):
You don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:18:07):
Yeah, And so that was the kind of the gist
of that scene. There are many scenes in there that
are that are kind of cool that that just sort
of stayed with me for years and years and years.
Speaker 3 (01:18:19):
I need to do a rewatch on it. And I
bet they'll put all the Robert Redford out stuff out
now because of him passing.
Speaker 4 (01:18:25):
I mean they were they were bank robbers and train robbers,
but at least in the movie, they were portrayed as
you know, likable, nice guys. Yeah, and the train scene
where they're you know, they rob they start robbing trains
and then it's the same guy that's always on the
train and he's protecting well. I'm from the you know,
(01:18:45):
the Wells Fargo, and we got to keep I'm sorry,
you guys are very nice bank robbers.
Speaker 2 (01:18:50):
You're my favorite bank robbers. But I can't. This is
not my money and I cannot give you the money.
So please, you know you've.
Speaker 4 (01:18:56):
Got to well, then get out of the train because
and then they're going to blow.
Speaker 3 (01:18:59):
Up the oh right.
Speaker 4 (01:19:01):
Safe in the train, and then they blow it up,
and then the money goes everywhere. And then the line
is you think you used.
Speaker 2 (01:19:10):
But so who was Butcher?
Speaker 3 (01:19:15):
And who's Oh that's Paul Niman hiss Butch And then
Sundance Kid is hence the sun dance stuff. You think
about when he started that, think about how locked up
Hollywood was, and then how not locked up it is
now because back then it was the studios, the big studios.
They're the only they were the only game in town.
(01:19:35):
Nobody was making their own films, nobody was doing independent anything.
You either got along with the studios or you didn't.
And Martin Sheen was offered a three picture deal from
MGM that had to do with Apocalypse Now and then
two more and he wouldn't sign it because he said,
I like, I don't know what those movies are going
to be.
Speaker 2 (01:19:55):
You could make me do anything.
Speaker 3 (01:19:56):
And then Charlie she was offered the same thing after
Platoon and they said we want you to do Platoon
and then a three picture deal, and his dad said,
don't do it, don't sign it. Well, they never worked
for them again, and it was they basically punished them
by saying, you won't sign this three picture deal. And
especially for Charlie Sheen, he was just coming along. It
seemed like the greatest opportunity. But Martin Sheen said, they
(01:20:18):
could lock you into a total bad movie that you
don't want to do, so don't do that. You'll have
plenty of opportunities.
Speaker 2 (01:20:25):
And he did.
Speaker 3 (01:20:26):
But when the in the nineteen eighty the studios still
owned people, you know, and they I think that's what
happened with John I think he signed a three picture
thing and it ended up being Saturday Night Fever, Grease,
and Urban Cowboy, which turned out to be great. That
was all paramount. It was all paramount. It was great,
but it could have been, oh great, Saturday Night Fever
(01:20:47):
is a huge success. Now we're going to make you
do this other thing, you know. So But anyway, for
Robert Redford to branch out like that was a big
deal back then because that's those little independent movies. Now,
everything things independent and if you watch a movie, you
see the beginning of a movie, you'll see eight different
production companies involved in it. Before it was this is
(01:21:08):
an MGM movie period, this is a paramount picture. It's
you know whatever, Warner Brothers, whatever it is, and not anymore.
It's tons of people involved. So it's just the whole
industry has changed completely. And as they say, it's the
wild West, and you get things like seth Rogen coming
up with his thing and he gets you know, Netflix
(01:21:29):
or whoever to sign on and he gets to go
make his show and he's got the money and he
and I think we get a lot of.
Speaker 2 (01:21:35):
Good product because of that.
Speaker 3 (01:21:36):
But Robert Redford was at the leading edge of that,
and that's pretty cool.
Speaker 2 (01:21:39):
I didn't know that part of it.
Speaker 4 (01:21:42):
And if he was coming up during that time, luck
has to be a part of that. Because he wasn't
in any I can't find a bad movie in this
unless maybe they're just not mentioning the bad movies. Then
maybe he was in some terrible ones. We just never
heard of her. They got buried. But it just seems
like if he was, if Robert Redford was in it,
(01:22:04):
you knew it was like, Okay, this is going to
be a great movie.
Speaker 3 (01:22:08):
Probably what happens is you get a good reputation for
being good, and then you get offered the good scripts.
And as long as your movies are making money, then
you still get offered the good scripts. And once you
make a clunker of some sort, and then I think,
then the offers. But also, if you have enough money,
you can be really choosy and you can just say, well,
I don't feel like working right now, so I'll wait
for a good one to come along.
Speaker 4 (01:22:27):
So worked out for.
Speaker 3 (01:22:28):
Him, sure did, Sure as hell did.
Speaker 4 (01:22:32):
Speaking of movies from the seventies, now, if I mentioned
the movie Blazing Saddles, yes, you can think of well,
I can't think of a million different lines in that movie,
some terribly inappropriate by today's standards. Right, But mel Brooks says,
the best line that he ever wrote in any of
his movies, huh, was in Blazing Saddles.
Speaker 2 (01:22:55):
Okay, and do you remember the movie very well?
Speaker 8 (01:22:57):
Do you?
Speaker 2 (01:22:58):
Yeah? Yeah? Kind of?
Speaker 3 (01:23:00):
I know they yeah, kind of.
Speaker 4 (01:23:01):
He said. The best line he ever wrote was at
the end of Blazing Set. It's when Cleveland Little says
that he says he's going nowhere special and then Gene
Wilder says, I always wanted to go there. He says
that's the best line he ever wrote.
Speaker 3 (01:23:17):
Really, okay, something or nothing, he says, it's the best
line he ever wrote. Then that's he's the producer's guy too, right, Yes,
Now that movie, that premise is funny when you have
a song called Springtime for Hitler in your movie and
you're trying to tank a Broadway show, right, And that's
(01:23:42):
a fun movie. And it's a really fun play too.
What's a fun musical? Oh, look at him, he's a
vision in blue.
Speaker 4 (01:23:51):
Here comes the great Sam Adams.
Speaker 3 (01:23:52):
You know, I just remembered there were two blazers that
Sam Adams put in my yard sale. Yes, or your
wife did. There were two jackets like yours, and I
was gonna I was going to keep one of them
and wear them and just and just wait to see
if you.
Speaker 2 (01:24:06):
Recognized my blazers.
Speaker 3 (01:24:08):
Yes, there were two of them. They weren't hers, No,
they were yours.
Speaker 2 (01:24:13):
Oh, nice way to go, stays.
Speaker 3 (01:24:15):
They didn't sell, though, I don't think I think she
took them back home.
Speaker 2 (01:24:18):
Okay I did not. That is a that's a very
nice uh huh ensemble. You got to thank you. Yeah,
some people call it a suit.
Speaker 4 (01:24:25):
Yeah, all right, some do.
Speaker 2 (01:24:27):
Look at this fancy words over here. What's that word again?
What was that word?
Speaker 4 (01:24:31):
I'm not a fancy guy.
Speaker 2 (01:24:33):
I flewm.
Speaker 4 (01:24:36):
Ensemble and this is fresh off. If you're wearing your
own tucks. Oh oh, my reputation precedes.
Speaker 3 (01:24:45):
So we need an update on what happened after the show.
Are you going to continue with our entertainment?
Speaker 2 (01:24:50):
Do you want to?
Speaker 4 (01:24:50):
I do want to touch on the maybe maybe Sambel
the best line that mel Brooks ever wrote. Did you
hear about this?
Speaker 8 (01:24:57):
No?
Speaker 4 (01:24:58):
Okay, it's from Blazing Saddle, okay, and it's nothing.
Speaker 2 (01:25:01):
Terrible, which you gotta be careful, okay, okay. So my
favorite it's like I need somebody to go back in
town and get a bleep bload of dimes? Can they
put up? Yes?
Speaker 4 (01:25:18):
And they're all waiting outside when they can go around?
Speaker 5 (01:25:20):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (01:25:21):
What in the wide world of sports is going on here?
Speaker 4 (01:25:26):
There are a million?
Speaker 2 (01:25:27):
But he said this is kind of a it's kind
of a cool.
Speaker 4 (01:25:30):
It's at the very end when Cleveland Little says that
he's going nowhere special and you remember what Gene Wilder says, No,
I always wanted to go there. Yes, it's pretty good, right.
Speaker 3 (01:25:43):
Yeah, he claims that's his best line ever.
Speaker 2 (01:25:46):
I agree at of all his movies, I think, so
it's special. It's like, I'll be there with you no
matter what. That's what he's saying. Hmm. I like that
looks nice.
Speaker 4 (01:25:54):
And then the other stuff we were talking about was
the the Robert Redford stuff, and we're talking about can
you name a bad Robert Redford movie?
Speaker 8 (01:26:02):
No?
Speaker 2 (01:26:03):
In fact, I could name a bunch of underrated Robert
Redford movies like to this day, and it doesn't get
a lot of love. Sneakers was an amazing film and
it was as him and River Phoenix and Sidney Potier
and I mean it was an amazing cast. Yeah, and
that was that was That was a nineties film. And no,
(01:26:24):
I mean, oh my gosh, just every every movie was
a banger. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:26:28):
And did you or did you not when you announced
that he was gone, did you say he will be missed?
Speaker 2 (01:26:36):
I did not say that, but we heard the whole
backstory on that because the Larry King story. Yeah yeah, okay,
you know my reputation precedes me. Yeah, but you always
have to put the the age at the end. I
don't know where that rule was was written Robert Redford.
Speaker 4 (01:26:55):
He was eighty nine years old. He will be missed.
He will be missed. He will be What about Butch
casting The Sundance Kid. We've been talking about that movie
a lot.
Speaker 2 (01:27:03):
I mean I couldn't quote it, but yeah, classic, yeah
Days or the Condor. Yeah, Yeah, that was one of
the first like actually quote unquote sorry old movies. I
saw my dad when I was a teenager, said you've
got to see this movie. And it meant more to
him than me. But it was one of those, you know,
intrigue kind of mystery movies.
Speaker 4 (01:27:24):
Yeah, I saw Butch casting The Sundance Kid with my dad.
Speaker 2 (01:27:27):
The first time I saw was with my dad.
Speaker 4 (01:27:28):
Okay, Yeah, And there was a you know, there's a
there were a couple of scenes in there that were
well there's a lot of gun gun fighting. Well they
were bank roberts and stuff. Yeah, but there are some great,
great lines in that and a great story.
Speaker 2 (01:27:40):
And I feel like it's it's always referred to it's
almost like a mythical movie because it's always the shootout, right,
and everybody kind of in movies and in modern day
you know, pop culture and whatnot, We'll always refer to
that like, oh man, this is going to go down
like Butch and oh yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:27:58):
Same thing, don't you think that? And maybe we could
put it together the whole group. There was a group
of movie stars and they just owned that time period
and it was Robert Redford and Paul Newman and Marlon
Brando and I would put Clin Eastwood in that group.
Speaker 8 (01:28:14):
Maybe.
Speaker 3 (01:28:15):
Yeah, Dustin Hoffman was coming up, Al Pacino, Robert de Niro,
There's like ten that seemed like that was they did
all of the movie leading men.
Speaker 2 (01:28:28):
Yeah, now we don't have it.
Speaker 3 (01:28:30):
There's a million of them. There's so many leading men
doing so many different films. But we were talking about
small the industry was back in the day. But you
could name like the top ten movie stars, and then
you had character actors that did a lot of stuff.
Speaker 2 (01:28:44):
But I think Hollywood you're the expert here. But Hollywood's
changed where it used to be a studio driven industry
where you were just about that okay, yeah, right, you'd
have you you'd have almost like a prospect, like if
it was base like oh boy, this is gonna be
the next big thing. So what we're gonna do is
we're gon, we're gonna put this this person in this role.
(01:29:07):
Then I've got another idea for him in this and
we're gonna grow them and then he's going to be
the next big thing. And now which is kind of
like Nope, just throw stuff against the wall and see
what sticks. Yep, we're just.
Speaker 3 (01:29:15):
Talking about how they do three picture deals. They try
to lock you up. And then Robert Dinner when he
started the Sundance Institute making small film.
Speaker 2 (01:29:22):
How that was so like Robert Redford. Robert Redford.
Speaker 3 (01:29:25):
What do I say, Oh, yeah, Robert Redford. But he
actually I think has his own he had his own thing.
But yeah, Robert Redford. So that was really new idea
kind of to have independent films be made. Because the
studios owned everything and owned everybody. There was no and
also there was not the equipment. You know, you think
about technology help with that because you can't go afford
(01:29:46):
movie cameras. Not everybody could do that. Well, now you
can make movies on your phone, and it got easier
and easier with the advent of your own VH when
you got the handheld cameras.
Speaker 2 (01:29:56):
That was huge.
Speaker 3 (01:29:57):
When you could make your own home videos and stuff
that everything.
Speaker 2 (01:30:01):
I kind of missed the whole idea of like, oh,
you're you gonna go see the new Pacino film. It
was always it was about the actor and that's about
the movie and more about oh, they're in a new
movie and you had to see it.
Speaker 4 (01:30:13):
Julia Roberts would be like that, you know, on the
female side, Adam Sandler.
Speaker 3 (01:30:17):
And and let's think about yes, then think about the
female movie stars of that same period, because Jane Fonda
is the one who comes to mind first.
Speaker 2 (01:30:30):
But who.
Speaker 3 (01:30:33):
What was her name? From China syndrome? Yeah, away, she
was a big star. Angie Dickinson was probably I don't
though she went to TV, but she was. But I
can't think of as many female stars. Marcia Mason I
think she was. And then who's the Annie Hall person,
the Maa Farah, Diane Keaton, and then Mia Farrow was
(01:30:55):
a big star. But you know it was more male.
You think about the movie were written more for men
back then too, and then you had your kind of
your leading ladies.
Speaker 2 (01:31:06):
Secondary they weren't.
Speaker 3 (01:31:07):
No, not a lot of women were carrying movies back then. Yeah,
just did unless it was Barbarilla.
Speaker 2 (01:31:13):
That's true. Deep thoughts.
Speaker 3 (01:31:16):
And then Okay, now can we ask how it went
when you got home the internet? How'd that work out
for you?
Speaker 2 (01:31:23):
I didn't get the flowers. I know why. I know
life got I got sidetracked. I don't have an excuse.
I don't. I don't America. I knew was that when
I was watching out that would be the million dollar question.
Speaker 3 (01:31:41):
Okay, so that's the Okay, that was Monday, right.
Speaker 2 (01:31:44):
Okay, sure, yes.
Speaker 3 (01:31:46):
So did you then yesterday.
Speaker 4 (01:31:51):
Yesterday got away from him?
Speaker 2 (01:31:52):
Oh my god? Well, first of all, she didn't listen
to the Monday shows. That was not like the expectation
level wasn't. And then she listened to your show yesterday,
and then you made reference to it to Callie, who
had no idea what you were talking about. Probably, But
then then my wife is listening, going, wait, what what's
(01:32:15):
this about? Flowers? So she went back and then listened
to your Monday episode. Yeah, yeah, And then how did
everything pan out?
Speaker 4 (01:32:23):
Well?
Speaker 2 (01:32:23):
I think it pan out well because the takeaway from
her again, my wife shall be sainted. She said, that
was so sweet of you to say that about my
hair and my attire.
Speaker 3 (01:32:34):
That's what she took from that. You are married to
the sam so you have found your person. You have
found your person. Don't do anything to mess it up.
Speaker 2 (01:32:42):
She is she is a saint. I am, I will,
I'm gonna lay stuff out for you, and I don't
know take it. I feel like this is the show
where we just judge Sam and I know it's just
it's my lot in life. Well, well, we have a
lot to judge you on. I put a lot out there.
Speaker 3 (01:32:58):
Listens us a nice break from judging each other. That's
all it is, and the audience judging us. So did
you just get our full attention? So go ahead.
Speaker 2 (01:33:07):
So I am trying to plan. So I'm doing the
day job, obviously, but then I'm also trying to corral
a water situation in the basement water heater. We've got
this this tube coming out of the what do you
call it, the that We've got a water softer thing.
And it's by the way, if anybody on the hotline knows,
(01:33:29):
is water supposed to go on a steady stream, almost
like like a hose almost at some point because there's
a there's a little hose that comes out of it. Anyways,
it's like gushing out, but it only comes out every
few days. And so Anyways, I had to get that
situated where it's going into a drain. So there's that.
But then the other thing, this isn't going well for me,
(01:33:51):
I have no idea, is trying to plan vacation for
the family for figure out Christmas time, and figure out
out January and so trying to like go jump because
I've got the timeshare stuff. Got to go do that.
But now when you claim it, if you sign up
for the timeshare thing, you can only do it on
(01:34:12):
certain windows, like you buy into it. Basically you say,
all right, I'll pay X amount of money and will
you give us five days in Hawaii five nights in
Hawaii and then we'll go to presentation. But then once
you sign up for it, then you call back later
once you get your ducks in a row, like you
got your flight, you got your time booked off, like okay, great,
I'll take this date and they'll tell you, oh, that's
not free, that's not available, but certain dates are, so
(01:34:36):
I'm juggling that anyways.
Speaker 3 (01:34:38):
That's so what if you ask them up front which
dates are free and I'll work around it. Will they
not do that for you?
Speaker 2 (01:34:43):
No, because they have the person who sells you the
timeshare pitch and then you come back. It'll later you
have a year or whatever to then call back and book.
So here's what actually happens. It's a person you've been
talking to it, so you.
Speaker 3 (01:34:56):
Can call and just say, oh, I put my flight
from this and this, Oh it's not available. Well, oh
you know what.
Speaker 2 (01:35:01):
I was wrong.
Speaker 3 (01:35:02):
I actually booked it from this to this is that one.
Speaker 2 (01:35:04):
For no, No, it was more like this. It was
like I called last week. I called Friday and they said, hey,
I looked at it because Southwest was having a major
sale for us to get back and forth. It's four
hundred bucks round trip and we have a companion pass,
so it's basically four hundred dollars round trip for two people.
(01:35:24):
So I did to jump on the dates. But before
I did, I called the people at the timeshare say hey, look,
I'm looking at these dates. Would this work? And they looked.
They said, well, this resort is you can do it
this date and I was like, okay, I'm moving my
schedule Around'm like, okay, fantastic, I'll do that. But I
didn't sign up yet at that point because I didn't
have my flight booked. So then I booked the flight,
(01:35:46):
did the thing, and then by the time the end
of the day came, their hotline is only open till
four pm Pacific on Friday, so I had to wait
Saturday Sunday. So then they call Monday and guess what
I'm available?
Speaker 3 (01:35:57):
Oh, so you have your flight book?
Speaker 2 (01:36:00):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (01:36:01):
Well, here's the good thing is that it's so cheap
and probably to switch it wouldn't be very expensive.
Speaker 2 (01:36:08):
Good news is they they actually had another resort available,
it just wasn't the one that I wanted. And it's
got max occupancy of three people. Uh huh. We were
hoping maybe to bring my daughter and my son, but
it was going to be on the fence. We were
quite sure. But now it's it's max capacity three, So
then we'd have to choose between my daughter and son.
(01:36:29):
The ultimate even worse than Sophie's choice. Did you go
to Hawaii? So did you book it? Then? I did.
I just jumped on it and they said I can't
or this would actually be Kawaii.
Speaker 3 (01:36:43):
Oh love, that's my favorite.
Speaker 2 (01:36:45):
What part of why I do well, that's the thing
is is the one I was hoping it would be Princeville,
which I've never born.
Speaker 3 (01:36:53):
Oh, it's nice. Yeah, we stay in that big.
Speaker 2 (01:36:58):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (01:36:59):
No, it would be timeshare, right, that's.
Speaker 4 (01:37:02):
It's a marriottka, okay, yeah, that's on the very top
of the Adam Sandler has a place up there nice
and maybe me and Adam can and then but that
wasn't available, and so I got another one.
Speaker 2 (01:37:16):
Closer to l Hui. You know, is it a paa, No,
it's not.
Speaker 8 (01:37:21):
Ka.
Speaker 3 (01:37:21):
I always say I have the best hotel on the
whole planet. It's now it's called the Iso, But there
was a time and it was the the Moki Hannah
and my ex husband's mom had a time share there
for years, which one.
Speaker 2 (01:37:38):
My latest one.
Speaker 3 (01:37:40):
It's where I got engaged, by the way, if you
must know anyway, it's like a horseshoe seventies, just really
simple two story or three story thing. But it's right
on the ocean. And when we went to Princeville, we
stayed at a hotel that was probably eight hundred dollars
a night, and that was free. It was covered through work.
It was a thing. The next we stayed three extra nights.
(01:38:01):
We were at the Mokihana. It was fifty nine dollars
what sixty nine if you wanted to be near the ocean.
What swear to God, that's how the prices were when
the Moki Hanna it was a hotel and a timeshare
because and and back then, you had to pay five
dollars if you wanted a TV in your room. The
beds were like the twin beds that you know. Well,
(01:38:22):
they've upgraded it now it's called the Iso and we
stayed there the last time we went, and I think
we paid between one hundred and sixty nine and two
twenty nine a night. It's very it's not a resort.
It's a hotel. It's all.
Speaker 2 (01:38:34):
But it has a restaurant attached to it.
Speaker 3 (01:38:36):
They had yoga in the morning, they have a pool,
they have shuffle board, and it's right on the ocean.
I mean, beautiful sunsets.
Speaker 2 (01:38:43):
It was. It was perfect. I love Kawai.
Speaker 3 (01:38:45):
I love Kawai too. And that's the only place I've
really stayed. I stayed up a little bit further, but
I've stayed at La Hui too. I've stayed at the
Marriott at La Hui. Okay, is that that's my other
ex husband's parents at a time share?
Speaker 2 (01:38:59):
All right, good, I'm finding we're finding commonality. She has
three of them, you know, almost as many as islands
there are for Hawaii, almost one island. I needed to
have them on a different island.
Speaker 3 (01:39:11):
I forgot that they had their Marriott one.
Speaker 2 (01:39:14):
That's louis Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:39:16):
So well that's been you're going to go. We're going
to Hawaii?
Speaker 2 (01:39:19):
Yeah? Nice? Where are you going to go? Big Island? Wait?
Both of you are going? You said we wait, you
both are going to Big Island together? Oh? Was this
when you were talking about a group.
Speaker 4 (01:39:29):
This is a group.
Speaker 2 (01:39:30):
Yeah? When are you going?
Speaker 4 (01:39:32):
It's early December, okay, the first or the second.
Speaker 2 (01:39:36):
We're going to Big Island January before we go to Kawai.
Speaker 4 (01:39:41):
So we're gonna I like to island hop.
Speaker 3 (01:39:43):
Yeah, I haven't done much of that, but because it's.
Speaker 2 (01:39:47):
Only like fifty bucks to go from one island to
the other. Yeah. But I and is this your first
time going to the Big Island? No, I've been there, okay,
And it's number two on your list behind Kawai.
Speaker 3 (01:39:57):
No, I would say Maui would be number two. And
then I like, there's things on of Wahoo that I
really like too, But but I haven't been to the
Big Island in a long time, and that's a very
different kind of vacation. And I've been able to stay
at really nice places that I could not afford, So
I don't know what it's like to be on my
own and on the Big Island. It's expensive.
Speaker 4 (01:40:17):
The Big Island well, and that Maui is Malui is
still my favorite. But I have friends that have They're
in the very best spot of Maui. It's just fantastic.
I could never afford where they are now.
Speaker 2 (01:40:29):
I feel like, if you're no, I mean no, I
don't think anybody can really afford going to Hawaii at
regular price, you know what I mean. Yeah, it's pretty wild.
Speaker 4 (01:40:39):
It's expense, but I but I but I love the
Big Island and there's deals on the Big Island. I
mean you can stay air Airbnb. Twelve minute walk to
downtown Kona, I love.
Speaker 2 (01:40:53):
And you can just walk.
Speaker 4 (01:40:54):
Yeah, Oh it was incredible. And Kona the you know
the little town that's yeah, that's my favorite Hawaiian town.
Speaker 2 (01:40:59):
Oh it's the best. I mean in Leahina when Lohina
was there, I love that. But Butakona just has this
vibe and the restaurants and the ice cream.
Speaker 4 (01:41:08):
Shop and the and that's a it's a party vibe.
Speaker 5 (01:41:11):
You know.
Speaker 4 (01:41:12):
It's almost like, and I'm not to say anything negative,
but it's almost like a Mexico thing where it's like, hey,
this is it's the fun place. It's a it's people
that want to have fun on a budget.
Speaker 2 (01:41:24):
Yeah, And it feels like a lot of like a
lot of the people who are there are living in
there seasonally or are local. You know. It's it's a
little less touristy than the other island.
Speaker 3 (01:41:34):
Yes, yeah, so if you have you haven't been up
to Princeville. You've never stayed there. Okay, So on the
way to Princeville is Hanolay.
Speaker 2 (01:41:41):
Is that the little.
Speaker 3 (01:41:42):
Town it's from the puff the magic in a town
called or whatever. That's a great little town. It's really cute.
That's where we went. When I was saying I saw
I thought I saw Will Forte and Ken Hopkins and
his son Dylan. We all went there and Trish, we
all went to that little town and then we were
he was there, the same guy, and so they were going, well,
(01:42:06):
well to see if he turned his head. It wasn't well,
but they have the good ice cream. It's a cute.
I think it's called Honola. I think that's it. But
it's on your way to Princeville.
Speaker 4 (01:42:17):
That's the only road. Like, if something happens on that road,
you are screwed, okay, because that's the only way to
get down to the airport. Is that one road. And
it's a one lane road.
Speaker 2 (01:42:27):
And do you think kind of going up to Princeville,
you're just gonna lock it down, You're gonna just hang
out there all the time you can.
Speaker 3 (01:42:33):
Yeah, And and then also the biggest waves I don't
know at that time of year, but on the I
guess it's the north side. You can go all the way,
so you can go all the way here, and you
can go all the way back the other way. You
see the big canyon, the Waimea Canyon or I always
forget all the names. There's a canyon that looks like
the Grand Canyon there. It's fantastic. It's huge anyway, but
(01:42:53):
you there's no connector up top. So like there's these
roads where you can go almost all the way around
the island, and you can do it in a day.
It's a small island. Go all the way to the top,
and then you go all the way to the other,
but it's uh, but you can't get around.
Speaker 2 (01:43:07):
And it is why Maya Canyon. I'm just thinking of
it now because I did go for sunrise there like
ten years ago.
Speaker 3 (01:43:12):
It's like the grain, I mean, it's it's it's huge.
Speaker 2 (01:43:15):
My wife dreads heights and we went and we did
the hike, and I don't have did you do the.
Speaker 3 (01:43:25):
Just went to the we went to the observation deck.
Speaker 2 (01:43:27):
Well, we we got down in it and it was
kind of like I'm probably exaggerating a little bit, but
it was basically like we're at a we're doing the
podcast the show here, and there's a table, right, there's this,
there's a desk, and I would say, what is this
like two feet right? Two feet in uh yeah, two
and a half feet okay in width essentially, so this
(01:43:48):
would be probably really the path and it kind of rounds,
so it's on dirt obviously, and it's on both sides
sometimes one yeah, and it's probably I would say three
feet or so, and my wife does not. I mean,
there was a point where she was just hanging onto
my hand, just like just slipping straight and like just
(01:44:09):
don't look down, and I'm loving it and I'm kind
of oblivious to everything. I'm like, oh, she's holding on
of my hand really tightly. She's really joined this. And
then we see a helicopter. I kid you not come
up like maybe one hundred feet away, and it's coming up.
I'm like, look at that. Oh man, they're missing out
on this, that they're right up on the cliff, but
we're doing it. And I look over something. Yes, that's
(01:44:30):
a helicopter. That's the way we should have done it.
Speaker 3 (01:44:34):
So once you you go down and then you hike
up and you finish up top, you don't go back
down again.
Speaker 5 (01:44:41):
Do you.
Speaker 2 (01:44:41):
It wasn't born up and a down. It was more
of a cross so there wasn't a ton of elevation change.
It wasn't bad that way. But you're basically you're you're
just seeing like on your right, like you're seeing these
sweeping views of the canyon right there. And instead of
the observation areas that you you watch the scenic viewpoint.
Speaker 4 (01:44:59):
Yeah, the vistas were we were in the vista.
Speaker 2 (01:45:04):
I almost said Austin Lavista to my wife or or
vice versa. I got a she was not happy. Afterwards.
Speaker 3 (01:45:10):
I got a kayak trip when we were in Kauai.
Then when you're in it was because I signed up
for a timeshare thing and I was like, we got
a free kayak trip. And I think it was almost
like buy one, get one or something. So it wasn't
even that good of a deal. Maybe it was a
ninety dollars savings. So and then I had to go
to the timeshare thing and Kevin was like, you're on
(01:45:33):
your own.
Speaker 2 (01:45:34):
I'm not doing that. But they get you.
Speaker 3 (01:45:35):
Outside of the grocery stores. Oh you know, they have
all the pamphlets and they have they Oh you want
to go on a kayak ride, you want to go
on a helicopter ride. All you have to do is
come sit through this thing. So they that's how you.
Speaker 8 (01:45:46):
Now.
Speaker 2 (01:45:46):
The key is whatever you're you're signing up for has
to take less time than the thing you're getting for free. Yes,
if that's if it's equal, yeah they win because if
it's a two hour time share, but it's a two
hour kayak, yeah, it's a two for two. And I
need I need a better ratio. I need to have
I well, I need like a twenty four to one ratio.
(01:46:07):
Oh geez, agreed.
Speaker 4 (01:46:09):
I think that the now you know helicopters. That's the
way to do Hawaiian You can see incredible things. And
the first time I was ever on a helicopter was
in Hawaii. Wow, that was a Maui thing where I
almost fell out. They you know, they start lifting up
and the door flies open, then they have to come
back down.
Speaker 2 (01:46:28):
Guy runs out. Yeah, oh my god. And that's the
first time I was ever in a hell. I must
have been screwing with him.
Speaker 4 (01:46:34):
Oh my gosh. So that was that'll rattle you.
Speaker 2 (01:46:37):
Then they tell tape, hey, keep your hand on.
Speaker 8 (01:46:40):
That.
Speaker 4 (01:46:41):
And then the the last time I was at the
Big Island, I paid real money, no timeshare deal for
the helicopter ride. And then you go into the I
have incredible videos of that. You're you're all the way
in and then you look up and all around and
you can just see the walls like you are.
Speaker 2 (01:46:59):
You're down in there. Yeah, that's where I saw the helicopter.
Speaker 4 (01:47:02):
Yeah, that's so cool.
Speaker 3 (01:47:04):
I can't I was on one rickety old bucket of
bolt one over the San Francisco Bay on a tour thing,
and I don't think i've been on one since. Is
they scare me? We were just having this conversation because
Mike Ken took lessons. He actually got to the point
where he could hover and you know, do stuff. He
was taking real helicopter lessons. And so we were watching
a helicopter fly by, and I love airplanes, you know.
(01:47:25):
So I'm watching the airplane, he's watching the helicopter. And
I said, there's just something about a helicopter doesn't make
sense to me. How it works doesn't make sense. And
I the feeling of I know, I've been in one
other helicopter some other time, but there's a really cool one.
Speaker 4 (01:47:40):
I did one in Vegas.
Speaker 3 (01:47:41):
Yeah, I saw that video. I remember that, and.
Speaker 4 (01:47:43):
It's only like a twenty minute deal. But you are
flying right along the strip, you look straight out the
window and you are looking in a hotel window. That's
how low they fly. And it was a young girl
that was the pilot, and her deal was her dad
was a helicopter pilot and it was kind of a
(01:48:03):
family thing and she says, yeah, I do this in
the That was the winner. I believe it was like January,
I think in Vegas. And then she goes to Hawaii
and does it. So she goes different places and flies
helicopter of tourist, helicopters man and she was maybe twenty six,
twenty seven years old. Wow, yeah, super cool?
Speaker 3 (01:48:24):
What great?
Speaker 2 (01:48:25):
What it great? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:48:26):
I like when you go to Hawaii to you meet
these people who, like, if you go on a let's say,
a guided snorkel trip, you meet these people who are
living their best lives. They are there for the season,
they're so passionate and they're so passionate. Same with Alaska
when they the people who are giving the tours, they're
there because they love it, and then they're going to
go somewhere else for the winter.
Speaker 2 (01:48:45):
And just that that whole group of people I really like,
I really like it. Raise your hand here and at home,
we won't see it home because the way your radio will.
Speaker 4 (01:48:57):
You can explain it more though, I explain it.
Speaker 2 (01:49:01):
If you've ever gone to Hawaii or some tropical oasis
and then a few days into the trip you're going,
you're really contemplating your life and you're starting to figure
out what kind of job you could get there to
sustain your lifestyle, to quit your job in the United States,
the lower forty eight continental US whatever, to then move
(01:49:21):
here and start a new life. Yep, yep, yeah, and
then it's wild because then you'll go to the snorkel
place or you'll go to the kayak rental, and then
it'll be a dude from like San Diego or San Barantino, Like, yeah, man, no,
I came here fifteen years ago and just got tired
of that grind and I just cashed out and I
(01:49:42):
started this bar and I got this tiki hut down
by the beach. And you're like, oh my gosh, you
can do it.
Speaker 3 (01:49:48):
Yeah, you know those what stops that is, it's always
the people in your life. To me, that's it because
I know I could do any kind of job. I
could wait tables again, I could teach preschool again. I
could make a living anywhere. It's that I love the
people here and I love Spokane and I'm not going
to move away from my mom and now with my grandkids,
(01:50:10):
that's the only thing. But we have those conversations when
we go to the coast and we're like what if
we just what could we do? And Ken's like, oh,
we're at a grocery store. I like, I want to
work at a grocery store. I'm like, all bartend and
then we can do this. We have those conversations a lot. Yeah,
but then we get back home and we like it
here or something.
Speaker 2 (01:50:28):
Isn't that nice when you come back from wherever you
go and best place on earth, you know, and you
come back to Spokane, you're like, you know, I really
love it here.
Speaker 4 (01:50:35):
I like when you've you've landed in Spokane and you're
coming you're coming down that hill and you can see
our city as you you know, and the lights and everything.
They we're small town, but it's still pretty cool to
see that and you're you're home again.
Speaker 3 (01:50:50):
The only rough entry is where there was one time
we came back from Hawaii and when we were gone,
it had snowed about three feet and between us we
had no ice scrapers. So you get back from this
luxurious Hawaiian trip and your car has a foot and
a half of snow on it. It's icy roads, and
you're like, oh my god, that's the only time that
(01:51:12):
it's rough, and yeah, probably.
Speaker 2 (01:51:14):
Not even dressed for it. Other flip flops, well, yeah,
you wouldn't have your flip flops because you review and
your stands on being on a flight.
Speaker 4 (01:51:24):
Yeah, I had the came back. It was February fifteenth,
came back from Mexico and there was I think a
foot and a half or two feet of snow, and
I was working the next day. I got home like
it eleven o'clock, midnight whatever, and I could not get
the car up the driveway. So I left the car
parked sideways in the driveway because it went up and
(01:51:47):
slid down. I had to unload all my bags, yeah,
up through the snow on my slope driveway. And then
I was. I worked the next day and I still
I had to park on the side of the street
shovel the snow just to get in there.
Speaker 2 (01:52:03):
Isn't that when I was gone.
Speaker 3 (01:52:04):
It wasn't that when Haley stayed at my house and
I went to Australia because it was it started snowing
that on our way to the airport, a couple of flakes.
And I remember our Uber driver was a TV guy, Matt.
I can't remember his last name right now. Anyway, he
was he does the early shift.
Speaker 2 (01:52:22):
He'd do Uber in the morning and.
Speaker 3 (01:52:23):
Then go to the news. Yeah, and so so he's
our Uber and just the flakes and we're like, let's
get out of here, let's get out of here. And
then it never stopped snowing the whole time we were gone,
and Haley was it was she's ten minutes from the
station at my house instead of in Deer Park or wherever. Well,
her parents had to come dig her out. It was
so much snow.
Speaker 2 (01:52:43):
It was our producer.
Speaker 3 (01:52:44):
She was staying at my house.
Speaker 2 (01:52:45):
Yeah, that was.
Speaker 3 (01:52:46):
We kept getting reports. We're like, oh no, and that
was February. That's when you're done with winter.
Speaker 2 (01:52:53):
It's like, no, don't do it then.
Speaker 3 (01:52:55):
Yeah, well, all this travel talk is making you want
to go travel somewhere.
Speaker 2 (01:53:02):
See now you can see why I can't stay focused
and get my wife flowers. Now that's how this all started.
Speaker 3 (01:53:07):
This is what he did to us. He got us
off track.
Speaker 2 (01:53:09):
That's what happened to me. I got off track.
Speaker 3 (01:53:13):
Now, what is your excuse today?
Speaker 2 (01:53:16):
It's already don I like I missed my moment. Well,
I but I'm going to find a random day to
surprise her with flowers.
Speaker 4 (01:53:24):
Oh, there you go.
Speaker 2 (01:53:25):
It might be next week, it might be next month,
it might be next year, it might be we never
know when it might be. But it's going to be
a surprise.
Speaker 3 (01:53:36):
Flowers are my favorite. I like flowers, and I like, yes,
I like the more of the Hawaiian kind of that
smell like lily's or gardenia's or that's not Hawaiian, but
rather than the roses. I like more of the I love.
Speaker 2 (01:53:52):
The smell of roses. I like the smell like a
wide flower, that big one.
Speaker 3 (01:53:56):
Are the big one? The lilies and the orchids, not
or because gosh, they smell good. They smell like Hawaii.
They smell that.
Speaker 2 (01:54:05):
I like that. Yeah, and whenever we see one, she'll
put one in her hair. Yeah, but I can't remember.
Speaker 3 (01:54:11):
That, can I just tell you where you should go
to get the flowers? So if you do, you have
one the beautiful and good price, way better than Safeway.
Are rosars like way better prices and they have really
good flowers. Okay, Also, all right now, I know, get
yourself into a bouquet for about eight ninety nine.
Speaker 2 (01:54:29):
I could get you what's going to cost, what's going
to take to get you into these books? And if
you want to come, you're too cheaper, But I want
you to.
Speaker 4 (01:54:35):
I have a time share.
Speaker 2 (01:54:37):
Talk to you. How long is the time share?
Speaker 4 (01:54:41):
Two hours?
Speaker 2 (01:54:42):
Trust me, this time share is so good you won't
even care how long it will take.
Speaker 3 (01:54:48):
We have some textures they're texting in about the various
things we've been talking about. We are Vestana Bondvoy vacation
club owners. We found the principal Marriott to be extremely
boring and suited for older people.
Speaker 2 (01:55:03):
Oh so you're.
Speaker 3 (01:55:04):
Not staying there, but you're not staying there. That's the
Princeville one.
Speaker 2 (01:55:08):
Yeah, but it is kind of isn't Marriott Bonvoy. That's what. Yeah,
that's that's the marriage Marriott.
Speaker 3 (01:55:15):
But you're in Lahuey, you're closer to the But the one.
Speaker 4 (01:55:18):
That I was hoping to get was in Princeville.
Speaker 3 (01:55:19):
But yes, so they're saying you dodged the bullet.
Speaker 2 (01:55:22):
Maybe. But as she said, and I quote.
Speaker 3 (01:55:26):
Old and boring, David said, it is suited for older,
much older people.
Speaker 2 (01:55:31):
Well, I like, I want calm man like. We went.
We stayed at place in camp and they had a
DJ great and then they filled the pool with bat
like SuDS and so and then I'm going, I'm just
too old for this. I just want to sit on
my shay lound and just look at the pool and
(01:55:52):
the sun and hang out. I like boring.
Speaker 4 (01:55:55):
I'm good with that too.
Speaker 3 (01:55:57):
Well, we went to Mexico, we were in one. There
were two all inclusive resorts right next to each other,
and we were very glad that we were in the
one we were in, because we were in the one
where everybody was kind of just doing what you're saying.
And next door the whole pole pool was you couldn't
even get in it.
Speaker 2 (01:56:15):
It was oh my god.
Speaker 3 (01:56:16):
Yeah, and the kids and we were like this, this
is whay.
Speaker 2 (01:56:21):
No, I'm I'm I'm with you.
Speaker 4 (01:56:22):
We got tenets in a row eight text and hibiscus, hibiscus,
that's it's the flower.
Speaker 3 (01:56:28):
Well, then other people are saying tiger lilies, okay, oh Mary,
oh no, that's magnolia. Marria, Maria, that's the one.
Speaker 2 (01:56:36):
My wife was, yeah, for America.
Speaker 3 (01:56:38):
And then Hanolay is past Princeville. I was remembering it
the other way around.
Speaker 4 (01:56:44):
There's another anohing is pasted Prince Princeville is at the
very very top.
Speaker 3 (01:56:49):
Well, but I think that this is from Thad you
talked to that talk to him. He says he loves
Kawai and he says, well, Honolay is past Princeville. I
do know that past Princeville there is we done caves
and stuff. You can you can go beyond Princeville.
Speaker 2 (01:57:05):
I'll go. If I go, I'll go beyond Princeville. I'm
going to do a map of I think.
Speaker 4 (01:57:10):
I think Princeville is at the very north end.
Speaker 2 (01:57:13):
No, you can go past it is that Malca side.
I don't know. I don't know what you're saying.
Speaker 4 (01:57:18):
You're Hawaiians.
Speaker 2 (01:57:20):
If you say there there's like Malca, it's everything in
on the big island is relation to the mountain or
the ocean. Oh so then they'll say, oh, it's it's
Malka side, which means on the side of the mountain.
Then what it's on the ocean. I don't remember the
other words. I just always hope it's Malcha side.
Speaker 3 (01:57:38):
So okay, So I'm looking because Conapoly is kind of
the place that is like a popular or No, that's Maui.
Kanapoly is Maui. Yeah, right, there's there's here's my There's Koloa. Okay,
there's Lhui there the airport is near Lahui, and then
you go up to Kapa. That's where I like to go.
(01:58:00):
Then Honola Valley is up north.
Speaker 2 (01:58:03):
But where's Princeville on here.
Speaker 4 (01:58:05):
That's the very very top.
Speaker 3 (01:58:06):
No, I know it's not on here though they're like
not showing it. I know it's at the very top,
but I but I think that there is. It's not
at the very very there's stuff beyond. You can keep going,
is what I'm saying.
Speaker 4 (01:58:17):
I don't believe you.
Speaker 2 (01:58:20):
I don't believe your map. My goodness.
Speaker 3 (01:58:23):
This is what he says when he just gets tired
of me talking.
Speaker 2 (01:58:27):
I don't believe you. Wait, so did you just find
a jpeg online to I mean, have you thought about
maybe Google Maps? Does your internet get to Google Maps?
Speaker 3 (01:58:37):
I don't know how that's going to help. I'm trying
to look at the different.
Speaker 2 (01:58:40):
Things well, but that that jpeg is predetermined which points
of interest are there. This is when you say, I
do believe you. This is anti Princeville website. Clearly, what
do you think?
Speaker 3 (01:58:52):
What do you think? How should I google it?
Speaker 2 (01:58:54):
I would just Google Map? And now I go is map? No,
you're looking at a picture.
Speaker 8 (01:59:01):
Of a map.
Speaker 3 (01:59:01):
How do I get to Google Maps?
Speaker 2 (01:59:03):
Click the tab that says map where directions?
Speaker 3 (01:59:07):
I don't see that where where it's not on?
Speaker 2 (01:59:14):
Just just do this, uh click or type in your
search engine Princeville, Kawhi and k a map.
Speaker 3 (01:59:24):
I spell Kawhi, how dare you?
Speaker 10 (01:59:27):
So?
Speaker 2 (01:59:28):
Here's uh? Now go to more, go to more.
Speaker 3 (01:59:34):
Oh my god, more.
Speaker 2 (01:59:37):
Now go to tools.
Speaker 3 (01:59:41):
You're right there?
Speaker 2 (01:59:44):
No, okay, I can't so.
Speaker 3 (01:59:46):
Princeville and Hanolai. There's still a whole bunch of stuff past.
Speaker 2 (01:59:49):
That thing you're on. Click, okay, click, okay, you're in
the map, the Google map.
Speaker 4 (01:59:55):
Here, here's the Kathy Hanolay is west of princevill or west?
Speaker 2 (02:00:01):
So yeah, past what directions? Pa on if you're coming
up which side? It depends which you can't come you
be coming from the east side, going up and north?
Because who he is on the southeastern portion of the island.
Speaker 3 (02:00:15):
I can't tell what direction we're in right now? Who's
telling where's the north up?
Speaker 2 (02:00:21):
Okay? Well, it depends how they're sitting.
Speaker 3 (02:00:26):
And by the way, here, let me see there's Princeville
is here, and then there's still all these other stuff,
including the.
Speaker 2 (02:00:35):
Point.
Speaker 4 (02:00:35):
The top point is Princeville.
Speaker 3 (02:00:37):
Yes, but but the road continues, but the road.
Speaker 4 (02:00:40):
Show, the road continues, Joe continues, our story continues.
Speaker 3 (02:00:45):
There's still continuing for a while, and then some people
like the ille.
Speaker 4 (02:00:51):
And you go north.
Speaker 2 (02:00:52):
You're in the ocean, right, But the road.
Speaker 3 (02:00:55):
Doesn't mean like the ocean.
Speaker 2 (02:00:57):
He means to keep going.
Speaker 3 (02:00:58):
I thought it was It's good.
Speaker 2 (02:01:00):
Is like Michael Scott following GPS into the end of
the pa. God knows what he's doing.
Speaker 3 (02:01:07):
So anyway, where are you staying? You don't know where
you're staying.
Speaker 2 (02:01:11):
Somewhere near Lahui, I think, yeah, I didn't look it up. Honestly,
I was like, okay, that sounds good. It was the
only one available. They had four resorts. Two were completely
booked up the entire month of January, and then it
was Princeville that had availability for a moment and didn't
and then didn't and then it's the other one. Poipoo
is the one that's so popular in Kauai's way south.
Speaker 3 (02:01:31):
Yeah, that's all the way south. It's the exact opposite
side as Principal like, you're but but Koloa and Poipu
are pretty popular. But I like I like the Capa area.
Speaker 2 (02:01:42):
Yeah, me too. We did go to a beach there
and it was very nice. It wasn't too crowded.
Speaker 3 (02:01:46):
No, it's very affordable too. They have all kinds of
When you drive along that road, there's all kinds of
places you can pull over and go to the beach
and they have big trees. Oh yeah, they have a
lot of chickens will wake you up.
Speaker 2 (02:01:58):
And together the food trucks, the food stands everywhere, so good.
Speaker 3 (02:02:02):
And do you do the shave ice?
Speaker 2 (02:02:04):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (02:02:05):
Do you get it with the coconut ice cream at
the bottom if.
Speaker 2 (02:02:07):
I can, if they all yes. One of my favorites
is in ConA. Have you been to that one. It's
got a sweetish name to it, I think, but it's there.
Is it in the in the downtown area and ConA property? Okay?
So good, and they've got the ice cream at the
very bottom of it. So good.
Speaker 10 (02:02:24):
You know.
Speaker 3 (02:02:24):
My my, my friend Mary does the Kwaie Timeshare, and
I wonder if that's where you're going, because it is.
It is past Lahui and it's in that area that
we were just talking about, is it okay?
Speaker 2 (02:02:37):
Yeah?
Speaker 3 (02:02:37):
It was amazing. We stayed there together and she's at
the timeshare while I drink my ties nice the first
time you won that.
Speaker 2 (02:02:44):
She keeps going back. They keep inviting.
Speaker 3 (02:02:46):
She finally got throttled because she's like, I think she
did four or five of them.
Speaker 4 (02:02:50):
I can't believe you haven't been there.
Speaker 3 (02:02:52):
I can't believe it either.
Speaker 2 (02:02:53):
I can't either, But but now I did the math
on it. I've done the Hilton Grand vacations, I've done
the I A vacations, and I've done Marriott, so three different.
Speaker 3 (02:03:04):
Ah, that's the way you do it. They need to
start talking to each other more.
Speaker 2 (02:03:08):
They really do. It's like it's like you know when
when some disaster happens in the United States and it's like,
how did this happen? And like the FBI didn't communicate
with the CIA and the ATF and and finally some
cataclysmic thing happens and they're like, we need to coordinate.
We need It's like we are the time share industry
(02:03:28):
equivalent of that. They're like, we have weapons of mass
Sam Adams destruction and this guy's coming in and you
need to know he will not yield.
Speaker 4 (02:03:40):
So let me ask you this. So do you do
you give them any hope? Like when you guys coin
for the for the meeting and they're thinking, hey, we
got this guy was enthusiastic, he wants to come to
the time Share.
Speaker 2 (02:03:51):
We're going to give him his prize and all that.
Do you give them hope? And I think I think
I give them less hope than my wife. My wife
is is just super obviously, based upon conversations on the
David Mally Show, my wife is extremely patient, very kind,
She's got an open heart. So she's like, you know,
(02:04:11):
you really make some good points here. I really like
it that they love it, and like, oh boy, I
guess if we did. And I'm like, going, I just
lay it on the line. I'm like, dude, we're putting
our son through college. We've got a mortgage. We're only
like five years into our mortgage. I've got another daughter
who's going to be going to college in a couple
(02:04:31):
of years. I just don't have the money and the
bandwidth to take on a new expense. And I tell
them this, I'm like, I am a firm believer in
no credit card. I just don't put debt on or loans.
They love to do the loans, Like what if you
get on this payment plan. I'm like, nope, that's it.
I'm cash. I'm like, no payments. Did they ever say
(02:04:52):
to them, why the hell.
Speaker 3 (02:04:53):
Are you here?
Speaker 4 (02:04:54):
No?
Speaker 2 (02:04:55):
They don't. They really don't. And then and then here's
the deal that happens is MA, after they're done, then
and they they're just really mad at that point because
they know, fine, well we had one in nowI and
she was like, oh fine, well, I'm gonna there's gonna
be somebody who's gonna jump on this. It's just not
(02:05:15):
gonna be you. And she she was off in a huff,
and my wife and I are looking at you.
Speaker 4 (02:05:19):
They well, didn't they bring in the closer?
Speaker 2 (02:05:20):
Don't they bring in another person? She was she we
like the opener. The opener is always the nice person
that's like uncle Charlie like, hey, no, I'm just like
you man, whether you like it or not. I'm just
gonna put this stuff out there. And you know, I
just want to get to know you. We'll just spend
this time together. I'll show you on the resort. I'll
(02:05:41):
show you what it is like, take it or leave it.
And then and then and then the closer comes in.
She's like, all right, so here are the numbers, and
they they practice writing upside downs, yes, up, like that's
supposed to impress me, and it does boy. And then
and then they layout I have this option for They're like,
oh gosh, no, that like I'm sorry, fifty thousand dollars down?
Speaker 3 (02:06:04):
No, yes, I know I said that because the when
she she had this really nice Hawaiian lady who is
her person married did And so we were sitting chatting
afterwards and she was telling me this stuff and I
just said I kept saying I can't make the math work. No,
and she goes, well, because this and that, I said,
I know, But Airbnb, I go, Why would I get
(02:06:27):
stuck in something and prepay for something I don't know
if I can if I can't go next year, and
what if I can't afford the flight and it's the
same place. Oh no, we have many locations, I said. Okay,
so toa Airbnb, like so to other their maths doesn't
me I can't believe they exist.
Speaker 2 (02:06:43):
No, And they go like this, they go, how how
so this is how it starts. How many days a
year do you go on vacation. I've got a couple
weeks of vacation. So would you say you stay in
a hotel, like, let's say ten days a year? I
could go ten? Sure, ten days maybe on the high side,
but sure ten? And how much do you think you
(02:07:06):
pay on that? And then as soon as you start
to answer it, so here at this resort, this resort
here that you're getting this one time exclusive offer. Let's
take a look at the We'll just try to book
a room here for what do you say, January fifteenth,
Sam and Stacy, and then you check it out and
then it's five hundred and fifty dollars a night and
(02:07:27):
taxes resort fee.
Speaker 3 (02:07:29):
Resort fees are horrible.
Speaker 2 (02:07:30):
Yeah, so I know you're probably not gonna stay here
every time, But what if I just will penc you
down for like four hundred a night times ten? And
I'm like, what, Like, well, that's how much? I mean,
you can't you know prices these days. Try to book
it any nice resort and and you're looking at three
(02:07:51):
fifty four hundred dollars Like I don't stay at those hotels.
Speaker 3 (02:07:55):
I stay here for free.
Speaker 2 (02:07:58):
You can't get this all the time, kid.
Speaker 3 (02:08:06):
Oh that's funny. You know the one the presentation I
did when I was in Quite it was it was
like a classroom. It were a bunch of us. Those
are better.
Speaker 2 (02:08:15):
Because then you're not one on one.
Speaker 3 (02:08:18):
So what they did was they would do with the
presentation for a large amount of people because they're getting
lots of people, and it was like you had to
go that next day at three o'clock at this hotel
or whatever, and they had snacks and stuff for you.
But I was on my own and I played the
I don't my husband would kill me. I can't answer
any of these questions. And they really don't like that.
(02:08:40):
They don't like to split up the spouses because then
it's easy to say, I have to talk to my
husband about this.
Speaker 2 (02:08:45):
They make it for us at least to sign up
as a couple, and if you don't show up as
the couple, right, the deal is off and you pay
the market rate on the room for that. See.
Speaker 3 (02:08:55):
Well, with Mary, she was her own person, so she
got to just go because she's she's not married, so
it's just her.
Speaker 2 (02:09:01):
But you know the story.
Speaker 3 (02:09:01):
When they came to give me a quote for the vacuum,
you know, the vacuum system. Were you in your in
house vacuum system? Well, I there was a free prize involved,
so I said I want to go do this. I
called him and when he got there, he wouldn't do
it because my husband was yeah, and I didn't get
my free prize. And you know what I did. I
said the F word at him. I said, get the
(02:09:23):
f out of my house. Yeah, I said, I said,
I own this house, and actually and I yeah, a
good one. And the truth is that I did own
the house. Kevin owned his house and I owned that house.
So I was the sole owner of that house. I
was the decision maker.
Speaker 2 (02:09:37):
I am the man and the woman of this house.
I am. I was.
Speaker 3 (02:09:40):
But he said, nope, not your husband here. I said,
if my husband were here instead of me, well now.
Speaker 2 (02:09:47):
I said, get the f out of my house. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:09:50):
They were going to do it for him.
Speaker 2 (02:09:51):
Yeah, come on, they swear to god, I said you.
Speaker 3 (02:09:55):
And I was like Julia Robbers.
Speaker 2 (02:09:56):
Big mistake, big mistake, huge, huge.
Speaker 3 (02:10:00):
And I think, get my damn free price. I think
it was like a Seahawks blanket.
Speaker 2 (02:10:03):
Or something like that. Why would I even care about that? Yeah?
That was bad. I was so mad. And if you
ever go into the timeshare too where I now, this
has only happened once, like the twelve times we've done this,
but there was one time where they open up in
a group. So it's me and my wife and there's
other couples and there's like there's a couple from Chicago,
(02:10:25):
there's a couple from Texas, There's this and that. So
there's like five or six couples in there, and then
there's a guy and he comes in and he gets
the crowd excited and he plays some sort of music
and then he plays an intro video and it's showing
these great you know over like the drone videos of
these different resorts, all these places you can go. You're
(02:10:46):
just watching, and my wife and I have been through
like six of these by then, easily, and we're just like, Okay, hey,
this is pretty good, but you know, we know what
we're up against it. And then you see these four
other couples and you just start marking like, oh, that's
a mark. They have no chance. They're just getting oh
my gosh, like where would you.
Speaker 10 (02:11:06):
Like to go on your next vacation? And like, oh
my gosh, I've always wanted to go to San Diego.
What if I were to tell you we have a
resort in Sandy, we have two in San Diego.
Speaker 1 (02:11:19):
Oh my god.
Speaker 2 (02:11:21):
And you don't own that property. You can go anywhere
in the world. So next year you could go to Evansville, Indiana.
And they're going bonkers over this, and then we're just
I want to pull them aside, like guys, no, don't
do this.
Speaker 3 (02:11:40):
Yeah, and also just say don't do it on your
first one, like get a few under your belt, like
do what Stacy and I have done, and really run
the system for a while. You don't have to because
if you do, if you get one free time share
trip and you sign up for that first free you
have wasted tons of vacation time. Yeah, because like I mean,
(02:12:03):
like you, because you can do it multiple times. You
sign up for your first one, then you've messed up.
You can't go to the other ones.
Speaker 2 (02:12:09):
Yeah, you got to make it count. Yeah, and you
got to be careful too, Like time is, it's a
ninety minute to two hour presentation, so you just know that, like,
don't have anything trusting you to do after that. The
other thing i'd recommend, if you are really considering it,
I would go there are websites that actually people are
trying to get rid of their time share and they're
trying to sell it, and in some cases, and by
(02:12:33):
some I mean many, they're willing to let go for
free and they just want you to take over the
maintenance fees. And that's they can be anywhere from fifteen
hundred to two thousand dollars a year. But then at
least that's cheaper than paying fifty thousand dollars or whatever
place that I couldn't get to.
Speaker 3 (02:12:49):
I was like, what and that much, you know, a
monthly fee and fifty thousand dollars.
Speaker 2 (02:12:57):
It would take me years.
Speaker 3 (02:12:59):
To spend fifty thousand dollars on vacation.
Speaker 2 (02:13:02):
It's it's to definitely arm yourself with information. And if
you're in the state of Washington, I believe there is
a reforce a three day rule, and not every state
has that. So if you do, if you are an
impulse kind of buyer or something like that, like you
get caught up in the heat of the moment, then
you have the regret afterwards. In the state of Washington,
you do have a certain period amount of time to
(02:13:23):
say nope, I had second thoughts, this is not for me,
and you can get out.
Speaker 3 (02:13:26):
So you mean, if you're from Washington in.
Speaker 4 (02:13:29):
Hawaii, yeah, I think it's it's houses, cars, I mean,
it's the big things. But that's we learn that in
real estate. Sure you have a three day thing. Someone
could back out even after they've signed everything. Three days
later they can say no, I had lost my mind
those days, and therefore buyer's remorse yeah, yeah, I think
that's what it's called. It's like buyer's reorse, you know, some.
Speaker 2 (02:13:53):
Kind of law.
Speaker 3 (02:13:54):
Yesterday was the anniversary of the Bucket of Bolts coming
into my life. Twenty twelve was when I bought the
bucket Bolts. I've had that thirteen years.
Speaker 4 (02:14:02):
Thirteen years today yesterday, and it was.
Speaker 3 (02:14:06):
A two thousands, a two thousand and six.
Speaker 2 (02:14:08):
Oh, you don't mean to go out and get flowers
for it.
Speaker 4 (02:14:14):
And today is the one year anniversary of our big
event at the Fox Theater when we had the big
announcement that we were coming here today seventeenth.
Speaker 2 (02:14:22):
Oh my gosh.
Speaker 3 (02:14:23):
And next Tuesday is our anniversary. Can we come on
the show?
Speaker 2 (02:14:26):
I think you should? Can we? Yes? Can we? Will you?
Will you? Will you float that? Will you will float it?
Speaker 3 (02:14:32):
We'd love to look at here.
Speaker 2 (02:14:33):
What time? What time? What time's good for you?
Speaker 3 (02:14:36):
Well before six obviously, okay?
Speaker 2 (02:14:39):
Yeah, will you put it?
Speaker 4 (02:14:40):
We could even do a deal if it's if it's
some time after that, we would just know.
Speaker 2 (02:14:43):
I think we should do it before, yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:14:45):
Do it beforeah before we yeah or something. Yeah, And
then we'll have an announcement because we're having an anniversary
party the next day, but we can't tell where yet.
All secret so far.
Speaker 2 (02:14:56):
I'm asking my executive producer right now if I can
get you on, and I get Dave and Molly on
those two? Yay?
Speaker 3 (02:15:02):
Who's from upstairs?
Speaker 2 (02:15:04):
Uh?
Speaker 4 (02:15:06):
Those two yay?
Speaker 2 (02:15:08):
Yesterday? Yeah? Uh well like I guess yahoo, Yeah that's right. Yeah,
that's what I think.
Speaker 3 (02:15:14):
Okay, Yeah, Scandinavian shave, ice and KNA from the radio.
Speaker 2 (02:15:18):
Oh yeah, that's it scand Scandinavia. You were I said, yeah, yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:15:23):
That is part of scan Scandinavia.
Speaker 3 (02:15:26):
There's several beaches and a huge cave and Hanola all
past Princeville. Yes, we've established that yesterday. I forgot to
tell you this part. So Quinn and I are working
on a little project you know, on the side. Uh, Sam,
it's a video for my safety net thing.
Speaker 2 (02:15:41):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (02:15:41):
So we're talking at this former Foster youth yesterday and
he was telling us what we had done for them before.
And so he's listening off the things and I said,
I said, who was the executive director? Then he said
I think it was you, and and so he's listening
and I said, now that sounds like that sounds like me.
I said, we got you that that sounds like me
and something so and Quinn goes, yeah, sounds like males.
Speaker 2 (02:16:05):
Quinn, You're killing It was the funniest thing.
Speaker 3 (02:16:08):
That he goes, yeah, that sounds like Malse. He looked
at me and the kids just looking at us, like,
why is that funny?
Speaker 4 (02:16:17):
She doesn't like to be called malls?
Speaker 3 (02:16:19):
Yeah, so well there was there was so many years
ago that that didn't know me very well that called
me malls.
Speaker 2 (02:16:26):
So you're like traumatized from that?
Speaker 3 (02:16:27):
Yeah, I was like, what the hell is that?
Speaker 2 (02:16:30):
I have people who call me joke wrong?
Speaker 3 (02:16:33):
I do have one person who calls me malls only
because she has a sister, Molly, who she calls Malls
and so it just comes out and she doesn't even
know that I And it only bothered me because it
was the one person who, Yeah, it was like, you
don't know me well enough to do that.
Speaker 2 (02:16:47):
Do you have Are you okay with people call me Dave,
David DAVIDO?
Speaker 4 (02:16:51):
What do you have problems? There are people there have been.
Speaker 2 (02:16:59):
Big Day, Big d Sexy Spo.
Speaker 3 (02:17:07):
There are people what you were saying, call you out,
get called all those.
Speaker 2 (02:17:10):
But do you care?
Speaker 4 (02:17:12):
Dave was fine, you know, because there are people who
who don't.
Speaker 2 (02:17:17):
There are three people in life, three type of people.
One is call me this name, don't call me these
other names. I don't like it. There are other people
like I don't really care one way or the other.
And then there's me who I'm like, I am honored,
like call me these different names. I love it. So Samuel,
I love it, really call me Samuel. Sammy, Stephanie Vigel
(02:17:40):
calls me Sammy. Yeah, she still calls you.
Speaker 3 (02:17:42):
And we had like in our family, we had a
sam and then we had little Sammy, So Sammy was
always Sammy. And like John, I always Johnny. He's always
Johnny to me. But if other people call him Johnny,
I'm like, no, no, no, he's this is In our family,
it's always uh that. And Joey is Joey, not Joe.
But but when people get too familiar and start saying, well,
(02:18:03):
you know, with Johnny, and oh, stop.
Speaker 2 (02:18:06):
It, stop it.
Speaker 3 (02:18:07):
I don't like.
Speaker 4 (02:18:08):
Only the only family called them.
Speaker 2 (02:18:09):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:18:10):
But it's kind of like with Ken Hopkins Kendall. Yeah,
only people were very close to him and only in
certain circumstances call him Kendall.
Speaker 2 (02:18:17):
Well, he was.
Speaker 4 (02:18:17):
Always I knew him as Kendall his whole first ten
years of radio. Right, here's Kendall. So he's always still
Kendle to me.
Speaker 2 (02:18:24):
I always begged him as a Kendrick. Yes, he looked
like a Kendrick to me.
Speaker 4 (02:18:30):
And then there are some people that always have they
always are going to have a different name for you anyway.
But I always have different names for people that that
they're just I don't use their real names very much,
like nick yeah, yeah, for the kids. And then Stephanie's
like Stephanie, well, she just she calls you Sammy. She
(02:18:51):
has a she doesn't call people by their their real names.
She has names for all these people.
Speaker 2 (02:18:57):
I've got a running joke with a guy who works
production and has for years and years and years here.
His name is Chad, and our joke is when you
call somebody by a nickname, but you forget their name, right, Yeah,
So we have that joke when we see each other
and we're like, we go back and forth and I'll be, hey,
there he is, and then he goes, hey, Champ, Oh,
(02:19:20):
there he is. There's my big guy. How are you doing, boss?
What's up? Champ?
Speaker 3 (02:19:29):
That's pretty good?
Speaker 2 (02:19:30):
But I know your guy's name is literally right there,
right there.
Speaker 4 (02:19:34):
It's all across Daisy and Mals, Dasy and Malls my
favorite day.
Speaker 3 (02:19:40):
Whenever he calls me, he starts a conversation dot Malls Allen. Hey, uh,
I said, May Allen, Mazellen. Oh that's right, Mays Ellen.
That's right. Sometimes it's Malls five dos in a row,
Mays Allen.
Speaker 2 (02:19:52):
I might have a record for most different nicknames. I
think people call you yeah because like I'm thinking about,
like this guy Matt in high school, he'd always call
me Samson even though my nick my full name is
not Samson. I've had other people say Samuel. I've had Sammy.
I had one guy's name was Max. He worked here,
and he would call me Essay all the time, Essay
(02:20:16):
not essays.
Speaker 4 (02:20:18):
Some people I like with you, like I always. I
like to call you by your fool always.
Speaker 2 (02:20:21):
Hey, Sam Adams, you do do you know that I
used to call you dave'sposito? Yes, we know.
Speaker 3 (02:20:27):
You dropped his name all the time before we worked here.
You tell the girls.
Speaker 2 (02:20:31):
Clay, I'm gonna go golf with Dave'sposito today. And now
you graduated. Now you're just Dave to me. My mom
calls me Molly Allen. Sometimes she was hello Molly Allen.
Speaker 3 (02:20:42):
Oh, and I always say hello Mama, hi baby, and
then she calls me Bobby.
Speaker 2 (02:20:47):
So that's my nickname. Love it. I love nicknames.
Speaker 3 (02:20:51):
Yeah, Balathena, that's my brother called me.
Speaker 4 (02:20:56):
What was your nickname in high school or you had
multiple nicknames? Well, oh, there was a bad one.
Speaker 2 (02:21:02):
There was. There was a bad one, fish killer. It
was Boner, a fish killer, fishy. No. I for some
period of time, I was known on my baseball team
as Boner. Oh. I hope it's not the reason. I
hope it's not that reason. I hope it was just
because I was skinny and I was bony. I really
(02:21:24):
hope that's the case.
Speaker 3 (02:21:25):
Well, then they should have called you bony our bones,
not boner.
Speaker 2 (02:21:28):
That's not what guys do, especially when you're thirteen.
Speaker 3 (02:21:31):
Well, we had a nickname for a guy at the
underage club and his name was Boner Boy, and it
was for that very reason, because he wanted to freak
dance with us, and we can feel it through his
type white fans. It's like, geez, man, get that thing
away from us.
Speaker 4 (02:21:47):
That's a tough one to live through. Being in junior
high in high school and being known as Bononeruckly.
Speaker 2 (02:21:55):
It was just a baseball team specific thing, and it
somehow never got out lated into my middle school. That
would have been bad.
Speaker 3 (02:22:01):
But we have a couple of Samsung.
Speaker 2 (02:22:04):
Samurai Yep, I've never been called samurai. I'll tell you
if I've been called this or not. I'm gonna calling
you Samurai.
Speaker 3 (02:22:12):
Yeah, that's a good one. That was from Natasha.
Speaker 2 (02:22:15):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (02:22:16):
And then my name is Philip. A guy I met
that I barely knew started calling me Philly.
Speaker 2 (02:22:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (02:22:22):
Kind of weird me out a little. Yes, you know, Hi,
I'm Philip Philly.
Speaker 2 (02:22:27):
He wouldn't do it right away, he said, he just.
Speaker 3 (02:22:33):
Well share said they got don Ho tickets for doing.
Speaker 2 (02:22:39):
And was the one who was given the presentation. I
had a guy called me in high school. You would
call me a surface to air mischele missile, surface air missile.
That a lot A nickname is supposed to be shorter.
Speaker 3 (02:22:56):
Yeah, we got to play the showdown.
Speaker 2 (02:23:01):
Samurai is here, Samurai is good. Yep. That's the next
time I come in. I will stealthily come in with
my hands clasped together as if I have a Samurai
sword or or we just start calling him Boner again.
Boner here, Boner.
Speaker 8 (02:23:20):
What.
Speaker 2 (02:23:21):
Oh that's a tough one man. All right, thank you
guys for having me. Thank you.
Speaker 4 (02:23:27):
Yeah, let us know if about next Tuesday on your
show please? Oh yes, and then uh yeah, we're playing golf. Yeah,
we're gonna play tomorrow, uhday, Thursday, tomorrow playing tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (02:23:39):
We's coming up quick.
Speaker 4 (02:23:40):
And then we have your guest coming in?
Speaker 2 (02:23:42):
Yes, is tomorrow coming? Is that good?
Speaker 3 (02:23:46):
At each other?
Speaker 2 (02:23:48):
Looks like Boner, what time is your.
Speaker 3 (02:23:53):
Guest coming in?
Speaker 2 (02:23:54):
Eight am? Is okay tomorrow? And they want to know,
is it okay? They have they potentially have two people
who could come in. I have Lindy Lendy Marcus an
amazing and potentially, if you like also Bob Hunt. Bob
is amazing too. Okay, they could if it's a microphone
situation whatever, totally understand. But she they just need to know.
Pair of sports spocanees just needs so if they can
send one or if they can send both, we can
(02:24:17):
make both work. Ken's going to be here too.
Speaker 4 (02:24:21):
Yeah, okay, friends, and so this is an event that
you're hosting a parasports to.
Speaker 2 (02:24:26):
Tell there, well, our pair of sports Spokane pairing with
Para Sport. That banquet's coming up and that's January, end
of January, so we're fine there. This is about two
athletes who have qualified on the world stage. They're going
to a world event and I think they're leaving very soon,
so this is their last shot before they head out.
Didn't we talk to them?
Speaker 3 (02:24:47):
Didn't we talk about their place, that they have their
gym and everything. I thought we've talked to them before.
It'll be good to talk to them again. But I
know we've had that conversation.
Speaker 2 (02:24:56):
If you had it, I wasn't here.
Speaker 3 (02:24:58):
Well I don't unless we had it off the air
and we were talking to them maybe, but it's yeah,
that'll be good, or if it could have been when
you're on vacation. This is sounding all very familiar to me.
Speaker 2 (02:25:11):
What is the what are they competing in? Like, are
they have to look at you? Different events? I don't
know off the top of my head, but we're talking
probably distance sprints, potentially basketball, field events. It could be anything,
all right. Yeah. I mean, there's there's so many world
(02:25:32):
class athletes within Para Sports Spokane it's hard to remember
who's a competing in one of them because you have
different events too. You could be in the two hundred
to four hundred, the eight hundred, you know, all right, yes,
for you, well, thank you, they will You'll love that.
Speaker 4 (02:25:49):
They're good people. They're good people.
Speaker 3 (02:25:50):
I'm not going to start calling you sam Splain.
Speaker 4 (02:25:55):
Sam Splain's here, Samurai, Samarai, Sam.
Speaker 3 (02:25:58):
Splainer, Sam Wise, Sam I am more?
Speaker 2 (02:26:03):
Oh I do? Luke upstairs? He calls me Samwise, He
goes where does say Samwise? MG? What he says? Name? Well,
thank you? And d S.
Speaker 4 (02:26:19):
Daisy Daisy Daisy Dale Dale Dale Spiro Sperrero, Spot Spot
Dale Spot.
Speaker 2 (02:26:27):
I'm going to work on it for you and for you.
I'm gonna come up with good nicknames that are new
for you.
Speaker 4 (02:26:34):
All Right, we'll take a break.
Speaker 2 (02:26:35):
We'll play the show, doup.
Speaker 4 (02:26:35):
We got we need someone to join us to play
the trivia competition. Yeah, we got to go.
Speaker 2 (02:26:40):
And we have a phone call coming in in ten
minutes as well, so yes, yes, we do. We do.
Speaker 4 (02:26:45):

Speaker 3 (02:26:46):

Speaker 4 (02:26:48):
Right away and breaking news where we are.
Speaker 2 (02:26:50):
It's official.
Speaker 4 (02:26:51):
We're on Thursday or next Tuesday.
Speaker 2 (02:26:53):
On the next Tuesday. What time? I asked if we
could interview five thirty am, so that'd be probably more
like forties something like that.
Speaker 3 (02:27:01):
Yeah, perfect, love it.
Speaker 2 (02:27:03):
Thank you, thank you Samurai, Thank you Samsung sam song.
Speaker 4 (02:27:09):

Speaker 4 (02:27:27):
Hey, we're back. We have a busy morning all of
a sudden, Uh huh. We've got Amanda from n America.
We'll be chatting with her here in just a bit.
We also have our hot topic segment, and we still
need to play the showdown.
Speaker 3 (02:27:40):
Yeah we have Lee is going to play, but we'll
let him know when it's time.
Speaker 2 (02:27:45):
Okay, so we do have somebody.
Speaker 3 (02:27:47):
But yeah, now we just wait for the phone call,
I mean, not from Lee, don't call not you li
Waiting for a mana and a couple.
Speaker 2 (02:27:55):
Of quick updates.
Speaker 4 (02:27:57):
The YouTube video that you put up yesterday, it's Mollie's
early work as a sports reporter. A lot of traction,
a lot of heat on that. Yeah, so people can
check out that. That's the David Molly YouTube page. And
then next week we have a very exciting and busy week.
Next week, Yes, Tuesday is our official one year anniversary
of being here, starting the new show, David Molly Show.
Speaker 2 (02:28:19):
The story continues.
Speaker 4 (02:28:21):
So and we'll be on with Sam and Klai in
the morning and we'll do a thing and then we
will we have a party announcement, our anniversary party. It
will be the next night and we'll have details on that,
full details tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (02:28:40):
Yes, very good.
Speaker 4 (02:28:42):
Okay, Amanda's here from Numerica. Hello, Amanda, Hello, good morning,
good morning to you. Thank you for checking in with us.
Speaker 8 (02:28:50):
Absolutely thanks for having me.
Speaker 4 (02:28:51):
I know when we have you guys on, there's always
something cool that you're doing, and it's all kind of
under that umbrella of the Numerica Cares for Kids. But
this is taking it to a whole other level with education, right.
Tell everybody about the head Start matching program.
Speaker 8 (02:29:10):
Yeah, absolutely so. Now through October fifteenth, we are teaming
up with Spokane Colleges to support their head Start programming
by matching all donations dollar per dollar up to ten
thousand dollars for that head Start program, which provides free
and affordable or subsidized education for about seven hundred, almost
(02:29:35):
eight hundred children birth to five right here in our
Spokane community.
Speaker 3 (02:29:40):
And for people who don't know what head start is,
let's get a brief overview of that.
Speaker 8 (02:29:46):
Sure. Yeah, so it is child care and or early
childhood education programming, like I said, from birth to five.
Local children or local families are able to take advantage
of this prom that is free or like I said,
very subsidized, so their low income families who really need
(02:30:06):
help with access to affordable childcare. And what it does
is it's not only providing that care and that safety
net for youth and getting them ready for kindergarten and
to be successful in the education system, but it's giving
parents the flexibility and the support they need to either
go to work every day or what spoken colleges is
(02:30:29):
seen is a lot of their students use it to
be able to achieve their education, to go to schools,
whether it's continuing ed or getting that trade degree, and
their parents of little ones, and they can't do that
if they don't have that type of support system in place.
Speaker 4 (02:30:46):
Well, I love that you guys are doing this. And
then you talked about the ten thousand dollars thing, so
people can donate and then once it hits ten thousand,
then you guys are kicking in another ten thousand. So
if I'm doing the math right, this is going to
be a twenty thousand dollars donation to the program.
Speaker 8 (02:31:04):
Yeah, that's so cool. Well to raise that twenty thousand dollars,
and it's really nice because you know, whether you're able
to give ten dollars, one hundred dollars, five hundred dollars,
that immediately doubles, okay of America's match.
Speaker 3 (02:31:17):
And where is how how do people donate if they
want to donate?
Speaker 8 (02:31:22):
And so there's actually a donation page up and live
on the Spokane College's Foundation landing page on their website,
and so we're just encouraging everybody to go there. We
also have recently.
Speaker 11 (02:31:37):
Put a post with a direct link on our social media,
so on Facebook, it's just Numerica see you, and so
we're just encouraging everyone to just hop online. It's really
easy to give and it's nice because they built it
out where you can see the progress that's being made.
Speaker 8 (02:31:54):
Just started.
Speaker 11 (02:31:55):
The campaign just kicked off, goes through October fifteenth. But
you know, best case snary as we hit or exceed
that goal early.
Speaker 2 (02:32:03):
Yeah. Well, and that's it.
Speaker 1 (02:32:05):
I know.
Speaker 3 (02:32:06):
The head start program is it's huge, important.
Speaker 4 (02:32:10):
Game changer for some families. It will change their life.
Speaker 3 (02:32:14):
Absolutely and for the kids they're getting that early education
that is you.
Speaker 2 (02:32:19):
What you said is true.
Speaker 3 (02:32:20):
It really helps them succeed once they get into the
regular sort of school thing. So once again in America,
the greatest credit union on the planet.
Speaker 2 (02:32:30):
Quite frankly, the most important credit union of our time.
That's right.
Speaker 3 (02:32:33):
And when it comes to head starting, nobody head starts more.
Yep it I can't do it like you do. You
have such good and a man On a separate note,
what do you think of Dave's different versions of your
mission statement and the proclamations that he's made on behalf
of your lovely credit union?
Speaker 2 (02:32:52):
How do you feel about it?
Speaker 8 (02:32:54):
I feel excellent about it. I love it.
Speaker 11 (02:32:57):
I just every time I hear a new one, I think,
you know what, we should probably put that on a billboard.
Speaker 2 (02:33:04):
Do people ever come in and go now?
Speaker 3 (02:33:06):
I heard you guys were in Bedrock with Fred Flintstone
and helped him get and mister Slate helped him get
The quarry bill is that right.
Speaker 11 (02:33:14):
Yeah, you know, sometimes we have to have conversations.
Speaker 8 (02:33:18):
For the most part, we get to just say, yeah,
you know, listen today, everything he says.
Speaker 4 (02:33:24):
I usually try to say, you know, some of these
statements have not been verified, not that they're not true.
We just don't have total verification.
Speaker 3 (02:33:32):
So we'll get in touch with anybody to verify it.
Speaker 4 (02:33:36):
We protect everyone.
Speaker 11 (02:33:38):
Haven't been proven inaccurate.
Speaker 2 (02:33:39):
That's true.
Speaker 4 (02:33:40):
That's true. I like your look point.
Speaker 2 (02:33:43):
Well.
Speaker 4 (02:33:43):
I love all the and I do see you guys
on social media and it seems like you guys are everywhere,
and you really are. I mean, you do so much
for for the community, and this is a like a
an exclamation point for the community, like when you're when
you're helping you know, young kids get started and starting
off school the right way and then helping them you know,
(02:34:05):
down the road and continuing education. That's building community stuff,
and that's what you guys are all about.
Speaker 3 (02:34:11):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (02:34:13):
Absolutely, Well, like you said in the beginning, you know,
it all falls within the umbrella of n America Cares
for Kids, and we have this big vision of you know,
a community.
Speaker 11 (02:34:22):
Where no child has to experience poverty. And I don't
think you can achieve that if you don't provide the
support that families with young children need to be able
to earn an income or to achieve their educational goals.
And so I think a program like head Start is
so well aligned that it's really a privilege in and
(02:34:45):
honor for us to get to show up like this.
Speaker 3 (02:34:47):
And you sponsored local podcasts as well, and we sure
appreciate that.
Speaker 8 (02:34:53):
Yeah, and that too.
Speaker 2 (02:34:55):
Yes, it comes. I mean, you guys have really everywhere,
but just for us selfishly, we we really appreciate you
and how supportive you've been of our show as well.
Speaker 3 (02:35:06):
You guys have you.
Speaker 11 (02:35:09):
I was gonna say, well, it's so mutual in the
you know, what you all do for the community is
so well aligned with what we care about. So it's
an easy it's just as much an honor to get
to partner with you all.
Speaker 3 (02:35:20):
You're awesome, Thanks Amanda, and you're so welcome.
Speaker 8 (02:35:24):
Thank you.
Speaker 4 (02:35:25):
Okay, all right, yeah, so everybody get to get to
that website, and you know, even if it's just a
few bucks, again, all of it will double, right, and
you're going to match it up to ten thousand dollars,
So that's super cool. Yeah, all right, this is The
David Molly Show. We'll take another break and then what
we'll do, we'll come out of the break and we'll
play the showdown. So that is going to happen. Yes,
(02:35:47):
and you said Lee is going to play. Yep, we'll
look forward to that when we return. This is the
David Molly Show, Live from the Numerica Studios.
Speaker 2 (02:36:00):
It's time for Dave's Cast Showdown. Time for you to
throw down, winning in a minute and answer ten. Dave
comes in and answers in again. If this goes inferior
and davill rain superior, it's time to play around. Dave's
(02:36:21):
Cast Showdown.
Speaker 4 (02:36:25):
We're ready to play the showdown. A little tardy, but
it's go time. We're ready to play. Lee's gonna play today.
Speaker 2 (02:36:30):
Hello, Lee, Hey, how you.
Speaker 4 (02:36:32):
Doing very good? I understand? Uh you I know you've
played before? Have you ever beat me before? Be honest?
Speaker 2 (02:36:37):
Uh? Yes? We are one one and two?
Speaker 4 (02:36:42):
Oh yes, okay, we'll go two and two today, or
maybe it'll be one, two.
Speaker 2 (02:36:50):
And two, one, one, two and three. There's a lot
of combination.
Speaker 4 (02:36:53):
It could be one one in three. Yeah, that's what
we don't know. Let's go through all of them right now.
Speaker 2 (02:36:58):
Show. Okay, it's very people love it.
Speaker 4 (02:37:01):
All right, and then where are you calling from?
Speaker 2 (02:37:03):
Lee, I'm calling from let me see.
Speaker 4 (02:37:08):
I'm gonna find them. I wanna find them. The only
I like finding people on the map.
Speaker 3 (02:37:11):
You did that big old road trip across the country.
Speaker 2 (02:37:14):
You were keeping us posted. Yes, yes, that's nice.
Speaker 1 (02:37:19):
Pittsburgh all the way to Winchi.
Speaker 2 (02:37:21):
Wow, there you are found, you did you? Yep? All right, yep.
Speaker 4 (02:37:29):
A lot a lot of activity in Seattle and Spokane,
and then there's uh, there's minor activity in Winnachi right
from the middle there.
Speaker 3 (02:37:36):
Okay, it's need one.
Speaker 2 (02:37:38):
Spread the words, so we'll hopefully you get it higher. Yeah,
all right, Lee, you know how the game is played.
I'll leave the studio now Mollie takes over. She has
she has rules and questions.
Speaker 8 (02:37:46):
Good luck, awesome, thank you.
Speaker 3 (02:37:48):
The rules are I realized just you always say I
have rules and questions and I never ever tell them
the rules.
Speaker 2 (02:37:54):
There are no rules.
Speaker 3 (02:37:56):
It used to be. No, the rules are used to be.
I'll give you sixty seconds to answer the ten questions. Well,
now you just answer questions and if you get more
than Dave, then you get stuffs.
Speaker 2 (02:38:08):
The rules.
Speaker 3 (02:38:08):
Oh you can't cuss. You can't cuss?
Speaker 2 (02:38:10):
All right?
Speaker 3 (02:38:11):
No rules, it doesn't realize that. And he said, that's
how much I don't pay attention anyway. All right, I
do have the question, So Lee, are you ready to
throw it down on the showdown?
Speaker 7 (02:38:23):
I am all right?
Speaker 3 (02:38:24):
Here we go. How many witches are there in a
typical coven?
Speaker 2 (02:38:29):
Three?
Speaker 3 (02:38:30):
What mocktail could be mixed from cranberry juice, grapefruit juice,
and peach nectar? It's a mocktail? Uh?
Speaker 8 (02:38:39):
Sipple?
Speaker 3 (02:38:40):
Which character in Family Matters made famous the catchphrase.
Speaker 2 (02:38:44):
Can I do that? Oh?
Speaker 4 (02:38:47):
My gosh, I don't know.
Speaker 8 (02:38:48):
I don't watch that show.
Speaker 2 (02:38:50):
What are Okay?
Speaker 3 (02:38:52):
What are Ac Millan, Ajax and Real Madrid? What are
all of those things?
Speaker 2 (02:39:00):
Those are soccer teams?
Speaker 3 (02:39:01):
What war was the setting for the TV show mash
the Korean War? What is the most populous city in Canada?
Speaker 2 (02:39:13):
Wow, I'm gonna go with Toronto, all right?
Speaker 3 (02:39:19):
Which ice age creature related to the elephant when extinct
four thousand years ago?
Speaker 2 (02:39:26):
Oh? The wooly mammoth.
Speaker 3 (02:39:28):
What country is sometimes called the Land of Fire and Ice? Oh?
Speaker 2 (02:39:32):
Iceland?
Speaker 3 (02:39:34):
Who played James Bond in the nineteen seventy one film
diamonds are forever.
Speaker 1 (02:39:41):
Roger Moore?
Speaker 3 (02:39:42):
How many points are needed to win a game of handball?
Speaker 8 (02:39:47):
Handball?
Speaker 2 (02:39:48):
I'm not sure twenty one? All right, nice, your guesses
were good ones. You came alive there in the middle,
didn't you.
Speaker 3 (02:39:56):
That's pretty good.
Speaker 2 (02:39:57):
Well, it's kind of like you're when you're waiting. You
get to kind of stew on it a bit, and
then you get nervous and then you kind of go
with the head.
Speaker 3 (02:40:05):
Yeah, well, I think I think you did pretty well.
We'll see how daved it yesterday? Did you hear that, Kathy?
She got ten of them yesterday, And so I implemented the
new hard assery rule and made the questions a little
bit harder because I felt that was on me like
she had never played before either.
Speaker 2 (02:40:26):
Wow. Crazy?
Speaker 3 (02:40:27):
Yeah. And then do you remember when Alicia got zero?
Alicia's probably listening.
Speaker 2 (02:40:35):
She herself, and she did. Yeah, she tied you.
Speaker 4 (02:40:39):
She tied the next time she played.
Speaker 3 (02:40:40):
That's right, that's right, and more than her friend. So
that was you know, that's their competition.
Speaker 2 (02:40:47):
So that's awesome. All right.
Speaker 4 (02:40:49):
How is Lee feeling. I'm feeling okay.
Speaker 2 (02:40:53):
I think okay should be a good one.
Speaker 4 (02:40:57):
All right, Uh, my turn to play ten questions for me?
Speaker 2 (02:41:00):
Here we go.
Speaker 3 (02:41:01):
How many witches are there in a typical coven?
Speaker 2 (02:41:06):
Oh? Jeez three?
Speaker 3 (02:41:07):
What mocktail can be mixed from cranberry and grapefruit juice
with peach nectar?
Speaker 2 (02:41:12):
It's a mocktail? Oh, fuzzy and evil?
Speaker 3 (02:41:17):
What character in Family Matters was famous for the catchphrase
then I do that arkle? What are Ac Millan, Ajax
and Real Madrid?
Speaker 4 (02:41:29):
They are soccer teams.
Speaker 3 (02:41:31):
What war was the setting for the TV.
Speaker 2 (02:41:33):
Show Mash the Korean War.
Speaker 3 (02:41:36):
What is the most populous city in Canada.
Speaker 2 (02:41:40):
Montreal?
Speaker 3 (02:41:41):
What ice age creature related to the elephant when extinct
four thousand years ago?
Speaker 2 (02:41:46):
The wooly mammoth.
Speaker 3 (02:41:47):
What country is sometimes called the Land of Fire and Ice?
Speaker 2 (02:41:56):
What country? Huh? Oh, I don't know that, okay.
Speaker 3 (02:42:01):
Who played James Bond in the nineteen seventy one film
Diamonds Are Forever Sean Connery? How many points are needed
to win a game of handball twenty one?
Speaker 4 (02:42:15):
Those were way tougher than yes.
Speaker 3 (02:42:17):
Yes, yes, I know that. Oh, I know that.
Speaker 4 (02:42:20):
I think you got mad when somebody.
Speaker 3 (02:42:22):
Got Yeah, I just thought this is not a competition.
What am I doing here? We have a six to
six type.
Speaker 4 (02:42:28):
Okay, that's what we do, Lee, We just tie all
the time. So current standings one, one, and three? Yes, correct, yep,
all right, six six, let's learn it.
Speaker 3 (02:42:44):
You trade it off on a few too, So neither
of you got thirteen for the coven thirteen Yeah, I
don't know. And then the mocktail one. I just put
this in here. I didn't expect anybody to get it,
but I thought it was a funny name. It's called
a safe on the.
Speaker 2 (02:42:57):
Beach, oh, instead of saying on the beach.
Speaker 3 (02:43:01):
Safe on the beach.
Speaker 2 (02:43:02):
Okay.
Speaker 3 (02:43:03):
And then Dave got urkle. Did you like my ercle imitation?
Should I add it to the list? Sure, you want
to hear it again?
Speaker 8 (02:43:10):
No?
Speaker 2 (02:43:13):
Yes, okay, go ahead, please please do it. Please do
it one more time.
Speaker 3 (02:43:18):
Oh okay, then I do that.
Speaker 4 (02:43:22):
Actually, that's not bad.
Speaker 3 (02:43:23):
You both got soccer teams really good.
Speaker 2 (02:43:25):
That was good.
Speaker 3 (02:43:26):
You both got mashed for Korea. A fun fact. When
I was on the weakest link, the question I got
wrong was this, and I said the Vietnam War. And
then I got voted out. I went from the strongest
to the weakest ouch, and then out They ousted me
after that. Yeah, that was bad, so now it's in
my brain. He Lee got Toronto is actually the most popular.
Speaker 4 (02:43:48):
I almost said Toronto, but I thought I thought it
was Montreal, so.
Speaker 2 (02:43:51):
That's when he got uh.
Speaker 3 (02:43:53):
And then Willie Mammothew both got and then Lee got Iceland.
That's fire and ice because they have all the volcanoes.
And then the ice.
Speaker 2 (02:44:00):
Oh fired, Land of Fire and Ice.
Speaker 3 (02:44:02):
Very good. Then Dave got Sean Connery. Sean Connery save.
Speaker 4 (02:44:08):
Yeah, did you just craft the questions so you could
do an impressional.
Speaker 3 (02:44:12):
Usually try to find a Nixon one, but I couldn't
find anyone. And then twenty one points for handball. You
both got that, So yeah, Dave got the Arkle and
the Sean Connery, and then Lee got the ones that
the Toronto and the Iceland. So that's how you trade
it off. Okay, Yeah, nicely done. No, you guys are
(02:44:34):
very very well matched.
Speaker 4 (02:44:37):
Well.
Speaker 2 (02:44:37):
Lee.
Speaker 4 (02:44:38):
Always nice to hear your voice, and thank you for listening.
In Winachi, we never let anyone leave empty handed. What
do we have to leave for playing the game and
being competitive and tying today?
Speaker 3 (02:44:49):
Does he get a mug? I can't remember? Do we
give mugs? For ties. I don't know if we do
or not.
Speaker 4 (02:44:54):
I think he's got a mug.
Speaker 3 (02:44:55):
Yeah, he's probably got a mug. And plus he lives
in with Natti. So but congratulations from our friends at
the America Credit Union, a proud sponsor of Dave's Cush
showdown in America Credit Union.
Speaker 4 (02:45:04):
Whether you are Sean Connery, you live in Iceland, or
you happen to be one of the thirteen witches in
the Covin Coven, the America Credit Union should be your
credit credit union, quite frankly, the most important credit union
of our time. And every time you go to an
America Credit Union and you take out some money, you
(02:45:25):
can say to the Numerica teller, the very friendly teller.
Speaker 2 (02:45:28):
Yes can I do that?
Speaker 4 (02:45:30):
And then they'll say, well, yes you did, and then
they'll be happy and everything will be wonderful. America Credit
Union is the most important one of our times.
Speaker 3 (02:45:37):
And five free cups of Dutch levels from Spokane's Dutch Bros.
Speaker 2 (02:45:43):
I don't I.
Speaker 3 (02:45:43):
Don't want to upset you. I don't want to, but
I'm looking at the charts, and I'm looking at your
record lately, and I'm gonna see what the hell's wrong
with you.
Speaker 4 (02:45:52):
I'm in a little bit of a slump.
Speaker 3 (02:45:55):
But I'm really glad that we don't offer actual cash
anymore because I would.
Speaker 2 (02:45:59):
Be pissed out.
Speaker 4 (02:46:00):
That would be in a lot of trouble.
Speaker 3 (02:46:01):
So we had a tie. Brian tied you, Alicia tied you,
Shelley and Kathy both beat you, and then.
Speaker 2 (02:46:07):
You get tied again. I said, I didn't want to
upset you. Why are you.
Speaker 3 (02:46:15):
Well because you know we're coming up on the year,
and and so are you keeping track of your wins
and losses? You're not cute. I have it all.
Speaker 2 (02:46:24):
You have it.
Speaker 3 (02:46:25):
I have it, but you remember before you used to
be like you're the listener.
Speaker 2 (02:46:28):
So we'll do the math on it.
Speaker 3 (02:46:30):
But it's almost time to turn in everybody's name, right,
and so for.
Speaker 2 (02:46:35):
The plaque that will hang in the new.
Speaker 3 (02:46:36):
Studio, that's right, that's right. So once we get once
next Tuesday will be Once that happens, then we start
a fresh year, right, So then that will be your odds.
Speaker 2 (02:46:48):
Because we don't keep track, we'll have double tracking.
Speaker 3 (02:46:51):
Yeah, well, oh yeah, we'll keep it. Yeah, double tracking.
So that's pretty good.
Speaker 4 (02:46:56):
All right, Lee, great job, thank you, thank you, great day.
Speaker 2 (02:47:00):
You too.
Speaker 4 (02:47:01):
All right, next time we play the showdown will be tomorrow.
Tomorrow is in early round, it's supposed to be around
seven o'clock tomorrow. You know, things get away from us.
In fact, today we were supposed to play eight o'clock. Yeah,
it's about nine thirty.
Speaker 3 (02:47:17):
Yeah, but it's our programs, so you know.
Speaker 4 (02:47:21):
Yeah, and we have some sad news to report that
for the second week in a row, Fun Facts has
been postponed.
Speaker 3 (02:47:30):
Oh my god, that's right. Can we do it tomorrow?
What if we do it tomorrow instead of the English envelopes?
Speaker 2 (02:47:36):
We could let's do that. Okay, let's do that.
Speaker 3 (02:47:39):
I like fun Fact and it's fun when when when Kennis?
Speaker 2 (02:47:42):
Yeah, yeah, I like that. Good idea.
Speaker 4 (02:47:43):
Okay, that we are making a pledge not good at
those It will have fun Facts tomorrow, yes, okay, So
we'll go to break, we'll come back, and then we
have some announcements to make that we want to talk
about about our anniversary, about television, about parties, all that
kind of stuff, and then we'll also have our hot topics. Yeah,
(02:48:05):
so that'll get us to ten o'clock. All right, sounds good,
that's what we'll do, all right, we'll return after this break.
This is the David Molly Show, Live from the New
America Studios.
Speaker 1 (02:48:25):
Hot Topics brought to you by clarks Hire an Automotive.
Speaker 4 (02:48:30):
All Right, part of our hot topics is all of
the major things that are happening soon.
Speaker 2 (02:48:35):
Yeah, very soon. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:48:37):
Next week we'll be celebrating our one year anniversary. Actually today,
as you pointed out, I haven't looked at the thing yet,
but today was the day that we had the big
announcement at the Fox Theater. It was our big event
and kh Q Television was there and it was you know,
we answered questions, we had the big thing. It was
really a cool that was fantastic. We met some incredible
people that night that you know, have been with us
(02:49:01):
for this whole first year. So today is that day.
Next Tuesday, the twenty third, which was last year it
was a Monday, it will be the one year anniversary
of the showah, and then next Wednesday, one week from today.
A lot of dates in here, but one week from
today we'll have our one year anniversary party of our show.
Speaker 3 (02:49:22):
And we can't tell you the location yet because we're
still solidifying a couple of things having to do with that.
But it will be in the downtown area.
Speaker 2 (02:49:31):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (02:49:31):
It's not going to be like way up on the
South Hill. Totally free and fun and fun. And we
have you know what, we have stuff to bring to
give away. I say we do some drawings. Okay, let's
do some drawings.
Speaker 4 (02:49:45):
Drawings.
Speaker 3 (02:49:45):
Yeah, we'll do some drawings and then Friday, Kevin Parker,
Our Friday Bucks for Kids' Day is this Friday. And
a lot of times people save up to go once
a week to a coffee stand anyway, just as so
make Friday your day. A dollar from every drink sold
at all thirteen locations, So imagine how many all is
(02:50:08):
going to go to the day of kind of Molly
Christmas fund so that we can share and we can
bring the Christmas joy again.
Speaker 4 (02:50:17):
Christmas chair Well said, yeah, that's super cools this coming Friday.
And it doesn't cost you any extra money. You just
paid the regular price for whatever drink you want, and
then a dollar of that will go into the pot.
Speaker 3 (02:50:32):
And then that was a big portion of what we
used last year. We got money from in America. We
got money from several different things, but the base that
started building it was the Dutch Bros.
Speaker 2 (02:50:44):
Money.
Speaker 3 (02:50:44):
So we need that and it's right around the corner.
Speaker 2 (02:50:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (02:50:47):
So that's Friday, and then next Tuesday, the actual anniversary
day is the twenty third. We'll be on with Sam
and KLi. We'll be talking about the one year and
we'll talk about the party too.
Speaker 2 (02:50:59):
Yeah, which unless there's breaking news and we get bumped.
But I don't think so. I don't think so.
Speaker 3 (02:51:05):
I think we're in. That was nice. Sam made the
call right while we were here. He's texting his big
Boston sane.
Speaker 4 (02:51:12):
Call the shots.
Speaker 2 (02:51:14):
So it's pretty cool.
Speaker 4 (02:51:15):
Yeah, celebrating his thirtieth birthday today, putting him at the
top of the chart because I think he's fantastic and
he's great and uh and then I'll pause and then
I want you to do it at least twenty to
thirty seconds of your impression of this person. Oh god, okay,
celebrating his dirty thirty today. Oh, three times Super Bowl
(02:51:39):
champion Patrick Holmes.
Speaker 2 (02:51:42):
Yo, yo yo, it's my birthday. Let's go. Let's go.
Oh in two knock knock, who's there? Ohen wo oh?
And who oh? And too where we go? Dog? We
haven't won a game in forever. We're down.
Speaker 3 (02:51:57):
Last game, we of last year we lost Super Bowl.
But it's true. They haven't won a game in like
a half a.
Speaker 2 (02:52:06):
Year, over half a year.
Speaker 4 (02:52:09):
The last game they won was in January. Yeah, well
January of this year. But you know, you know, it's
you know coming up. Yeah, they lost the Super Bowl.
Then they lost their first game in Brazil, and then
they played the Eagles again and then they should have
been mad enough, but then they lost. There was some
(02:52:30):
crappy calls in the game. I'll defend the Chiefs a
little bit, but anyway, but they are they are zero
and two and they play the Giants on Sunday Night Football.
Speaker 3 (02:52:43):
And they can't beat the Giants. They need to hang
up their cleats.
Speaker 2 (02:52:48):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (02:52:49):
I know nothing about the Giants.
Speaker 4 (02:52:50):
All I want is that they just they can win
eleven games and be in the playoffs and then do
their Chief stuff and make it all the way to the
super Bowl.
Speaker 2 (02:52:58):
That's what they do.
Speaker 4 (02:53:00):
But under eleven and a half wins, everybody's happy.
Speaker 3 (02:53:04):
And that's in the regular season, right so once the
postseason like that doesn't count, does not count, and they
can still make it into the super Bowl with that record.
Speaker 4 (02:53:13):
Yep, yeah, I believe so, Yeah, I mean.
Speaker 3 (02:53:16):
Really thinks they're going to find their way back to
the super Bowl this year.
Speaker 4 (02:53:20):
Personally, no, but but there you never know. I think
the Bills. I think the Bills and the Ravens Man
those are the two. That's why I told Quinn said,
if I could get a bet where it's it's like,
I am pretty confident those two teams will be in
the AFC Championship Game.
Speaker 3 (02:53:37):
But then who's going to win that?
Speaker 4 (02:53:40):
I hope the Bills.
Speaker 3 (02:53:41):
I think it's going to be Bills in Lions.
Speaker 2 (02:53:44):
I don't think the Lions get there.
Speaker 3 (02:53:46):
I know they're going to get there. Oh, look what's
happening now in their division. Look what's happening and ury
things are bad for everybody around them, but they are okay.
Speaker 4 (02:54:03):
Patrick Balmes is the is the birthday boy today. Now
here's another one for you. Now, don't don't be too
quick to guess. Celebrating his fiftieth birthday today. Jimmy Johnson.
Speaker 3 (02:54:19):
Well, I know it's not the coach very good.
Speaker 2 (02:54:23):
Because he's way more than fifty good. Very good.
Speaker 3 (02:54:27):
Jimmy Johnson is the guy who created Jimmy Johns.
Speaker 4 (02:54:31):
No, he's a race car driver. Oh that's right, Yeah, Nascar. Yeah,
but when you say Jimmy Johnson in my head, first
name that pops up is the old coach anyway.
Speaker 3 (02:54:43):
But no, don't be mistaken, No, don't be four.
Speaker 4 (02:54:48):
Vinnie from Naughty by Nature is fifty five? Okay, you
down with Opp?
Speaker 2 (02:54:53):
Yeah? You know me? He's down with o PP? All
the other people, every last, ever last homie.
Speaker 4 (02:55:01):
No, well I think it's a lady.
Speaker 2 (02:55:03):
Well no, yes, who's down with opp? You think it's
all the other lady that's that's in the song? Well
it's not the only that doesn't make anything.
Speaker 4 (02:55:16):
Well, I know it doesn't make sense. I think there's
every last two parts. There's there's the women's part, and
then there's the men's part. The Oh I hope I'm right.
I've been listening to this song for a one hundred years.
Oh she's googling me. Oh no, oh no, hang on
a second. There's two parts to it. There's the one
part where the ladies i'll say, every last lady, and
(02:55:39):
then the other one is the homies. She's scrolling.
Speaker 2 (02:55:45):
Are you down with OPP?
Speaker 8 (02:55:47):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (02:55:48):
You know me? You down with o Pip? Yeah? You
know me?
Speaker 3 (02:55:53):
Who's down with opp? Every last homie? You down with opp.
Speaker 2 (02:55:57):
Yeah, you know me, down with opp. But all the homies, yeah,
you know me.
Speaker 3 (02:56:03):
Come on, come on, show me that it's all about
all the homies. And now, yes the ladies come up next.
Thank you, because in a room behind a door, but
no one y'all are there. When y'all finished, y'all can leave,
and y'all would know, and y'all could throw the skeleton
(02:56:26):
bone right in the closet. Don't be shy, because if
you're down, I want your hands hi say OPP. I
like to say it with pride. Now when you do it,
do it well and make sure that it counts you
down with this with the discount. And then they say opp.
And then he says every last lady, and then he
(02:56:46):
says all the ladies. Boy, this is a long song.
Then they say the whole party, the whole party. That's
the last one.
Speaker 4 (02:56:54):
Oh, the whole party.
Speaker 3 (02:56:55):
Yeah, boy, they have a lot of information.
Speaker 4 (02:57:00):
Very dirty song, very dirty.
Speaker 3 (02:57:02):
It starts with Dave drop a load on him. Really, yep,
my name's in there, yep, mm hmm opp. How can
I explain it? I'll take you frame by frame it
and then and then and then then then Naughty by
(02:57:22):
Nature Okay, happy birthday.
Speaker 4 (02:57:25):
Can you name the other? Naughty by Nature?
Speaker 2 (02:57:27):
Hit rock Bottom? No? Hell are you? How dare you? Oh?
Speaker 4 (02:57:35):
Hip hop pray ohy.
Speaker 3 (02:57:39):
They like the audience participation, don't they.
Speaker 2 (02:57:44):
Rita Rudner Rutner.
Speaker 4 (02:57:48):
Riada Rudner is seventy two comedian Elvira, The Mistress of
the Dark.
Speaker 2 (02:57:53):
Yeah, she's seventy four. What what?
Speaker 3 (02:57:57):
Oh she's all over the pee wee herman.
Speaker 2 (02:58:00):
Oh.
Speaker 3 (02:58:00):
They were good friends. And you see her now and
she looks completely different, of course, but she still looks great.
But what she came up with, you know, that was
a time when people are sort of inventing things to
be on television, and so they were friends and he
liked that she invented this persona and that's kind of
what he did with peebe Hern. Yeah, they were buddies.
Speaker 4 (02:58:22):
Phil Jackson.
Speaker 2 (02:58:24):
Phil Jackson is the Lakers.
Speaker 4 (02:58:27):
He did coach the Lakers, and.
Speaker 2 (02:58:29):
Then he was a manager. I don't know.
Speaker 3 (02:58:32):
He coached the Bulls we played with. He played first he.
Speaker 4 (02:58:36):
Played for the Knicks, yeah, way back in the like
in the seventies. Yeah yeah, and then he then he
was a coach coached the Bulls, coached Michael Jordan to
six NBA championships. Then he went to the Lakers, won
a few more championships, and I.
Speaker 2 (02:58:56):
Think did he end up with the Knicks. I don't
at the end.
Speaker 4 (02:58:59):
Anyway, he's one of those guys. He's a Montana guy,
so he has a place on Flathead Lake, so he's
there a lot. He's eighty years old now, his days
are long gone. His playing days, well, yes, and his coaching.
Speaker 3 (02:59:14):
Days unless they had a Senior league or a Super
Senior League and then he could.
Speaker 2 (02:59:17):
Play John Ritter.
Speaker 4 (02:59:24):
No longer with us. Yeah, passed away in two thousand
and three. In fact, he died on September eleventh, two.
Speaker 2 (02:59:29):
Thousand and three. That's right.
Speaker 4 (02:59:31):
That was sad Jack Tripper from Three's Company and the
Dad on eight Simple Rules. Yeah, but mostly Three's Company.
Speaker 2 (02:59:40):
He was.
Speaker 3 (02:59:41):
He also, Oh, he was in the Billy Bob Thornton movie. Yes,
he was good friends with Billy Bob Thornton. He did
another series with Billy Bob Thornton. It was I can't
remember the name of it, was this kind of mad
capped Billy Bob Thornton. What was that called?
Speaker 2 (02:59:57):
Somebody will know.
Speaker 3 (02:59:58):
It was another series and that's how he knew him,
and the when the how how Billy Bob Thornton started
was not where he ended up. Like you know, he's
very edgy and just cool.
Speaker 4 (03:00:13):
He was bad Santa, I remember that.
Speaker 2 (03:00:14):
Mm and and in fact.
Speaker 3 (03:00:17):
You know he was just in town too. He did
a thing. Yes, that's right, and I was actually there
in the building. I think the day that he was
supposed to do the thing, but he had he had
what was the name of that TV show?
Speaker 2 (03:00:32):
He had like a dor ky. He played like a goofy.
He was heavy and he just played like this kind
of dumb guy.
Speaker 3 (03:00:41):
And now I want to find it. Yes, sling Blade
blah blah blah, but also mostly this other somebody will
know the bat. He did the remake of The Bad
News Bears.
Speaker 2 (03:00:51):
That was good.
Speaker 4 (03:00:52):
Oh yeah, but nothing can replace the original the original
a true classic.
Speaker 3 (03:00:58):
No, And he was great in Farga.
Speaker 4 (03:01:00):
Oh but what was the the TV series Fargo?
Speaker 3 (03:01:05):
Yeah, the TV series Fargo.
Speaker 2 (03:01:07):
One of the seasons.
Speaker 3 (03:01:08):
Yeah, I'll find it. His marriage thing is long.
Speaker 2 (03:01:14):
Did you hear that, Molly? Yes?
Speaker 4 (03:01:16):
How many times have you been married?
Speaker 2 (03:01:19):
Well?
Speaker 3 (03:01:20):
I know he was married to Angelina Jolie, right, and
he was married before that. He was married to Melissa
Lee Gatlin. Then they had a daughter, Amanda, who in
twenty eighth eight was sentenced to twenty years in prison
for the death of her friend's kid.
Speaker 2 (03:01:40):
I didn't know that.
Speaker 3 (03:01:42):
The Innocence Project of Florida began representing Amanda in twenty
fifteen and claims the child's thing was an accident. She
was freed in twenty twenty. Yeah, so his daughter from
his first Then he was married to actress Torny Lawrence
eineteen sixty eight.
Speaker 2 (03:02:01):
They fought.
Speaker 3 (03:02:01):
They divorced the next year. Then he dated Laura Dern.
Then he was married to Angelina Jolie. And so I
think it's just three. Well, that's nothing right three. I
don't know somebody will know that TV show he was on.
Speaker 4 (03:02:16):
I was ninety years ago today. This is a story
that the baseball people don't really want you to know.
They don't like when the story gets told. This is
nineteen thirty five. Brooklyn Dodgers outfielder Lynn Koenik was killed
while attempting a skyjacking. So he was mad he got
cut by the Dodgers. He was on the Dodgers, and
(03:02:37):
the Dodgers says, sorry, you're not good enough anymore, you're out.
Speaker 2 (03:02:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:02:40):
Well he was so mad that he took his frustrations
out over Canada while trying to take control of the plane. Somebody,
I don't know this part of the story. Somebody hit
him over the head with a fire extinguisher. Out Yeah,
well really out because.
Speaker 2 (03:02:56):
It killed him. Oh my god. But he was trying
to do bad things.
Speaker 3 (03:02:59):
That's by extinguisher really extinguished him. I don't know how
it come to.
Speaker 4 (03:03:03):
I don't know how she does it, you guys, she
is quite clever with her words. Yeah, a lot of
things going on there. First, Yeah, skyjacking, don't do that.
But then you know, bad way to go. Get bumped
on the head with a fire He must have been
a pretty hard hit.
Speaker 2 (03:03:21):
Yeah, yeah, so don't do that. But you know he
got cut so.
Speaker 3 (03:03:27):
Well, he had every right to do it right.
Speaker 4 (03:03:30):
Maybe fifty eight years ago today, the Doors performed light
My Fire on The Ed Sullivan Show. Before the show,
Jim Morrison promised to change the line, girl, we couldn't
get much higher, uh huh. But then he lied to
them and went ahead and sang it anyway. In fact,
he screamed it into the microphone.
Speaker 3 (03:03:50):
Remember what he was going to say, girl, we couldn't.
Speaker 4 (03:03:53):
Get much better, I think was the line.
Speaker 3 (03:03:55):
Yeah, yeah, that's a you can't tell those people what
to do.
Speaker 2 (03:04:03):
You just can't.
Speaker 4 (03:04:05):
You had a question about Mash on Theda, I sure did.
It was on this day in nineteen seventy two, fifty
three years ago today that Mash premiered on CBS, ran
for eleven seasons and still holds the record for the
most watched television show that it excludes super Bowls and stuff,
(03:04:30):
most watched show of all.
Speaker 3 (03:04:31):
Time, and that'll never ever ever.
Speaker 4 (03:04:34):
Yeah, the percentage of no, it can't.
Speaker 3 (03:04:36):
It's too fractured. That's what they say. Fractured, fractured audience, Dave, fractured, fractured.
I found the sitcom. I told you they were on
a sitcom together. It was called Heart's a Fire. John
Ritter Billy Bob Thornton. Heart's a Fire.
Speaker 2 (03:04:51):
What year?
Speaker 3 (03:04:53):
It was nineteen ninety two in elasted for three seasons.
But Billy Bob Thornton looked completely different. He was kind
of a what network.
Speaker 2 (03:05:04):
Uh, I've never heard of that show?
Speaker 3 (03:05:07):
Yeah, I remember it just kind of but that's how
they knew each other, so, uh, I don't just say,
let's see, let's look at the overview, shall we. It
also had the girl who ended up on night Court
Park or market posts.
Speaker 2 (03:05:24):
Oh yeah, and she's got a past. She has a past?
What market post? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (03:05:33):
And Conchetta Farrell who was ended up on Two and
a half Men, she was the housekeeper. It doesn't it
doesn't say CBS.
Speaker 2 (03:05:44):
This is CBS.
Speaker 4 (03:05:45):
Yes, yes, forty two years ago today, Vanessa Williams became
the first African American crowned Miss America.
Speaker 2 (03:05:54):
And then what happened, Well, that was a bad deal.
Speaker 4 (03:05:58):
Yeah, they ran her ount of there because they found
old photos of her or whatever whatever. That's the one thing.
And I like the Miss America program of always you know,
but that was they.
Speaker 2 (03:06:10):
Got that one wrong.
Speaker 3 (03:06:10):
Yes they did so.
Speaker 4 (03:06:12):
And she went on to become a tremendous.
Speaker 3 (03:06:16):
Movie show and singer. Yeah, pretty good career for her.
Speaker 4 (03:06:22):
That was always the I always like to tell the
story because it's one of the few bets that I
that I collected on. But in New York, we we
our music was done by committee, So like everyone on
the staff, we would listen, we'd have the music day
and play all these songs that the record companies would
send in to us and then we would say, you know,
if we think we should play it or not, or
(03:06:43):
if we thought it was going to be a hit
or whatever. And I remember that save the what is
the song her first hit?
Speaker 2 (03:06:50):
Monster? Uh?
Speaker 4 (03:06:51):
I can't even remember the song. Uh, all my life,
sometimes the sometimes it's.
Speaker 2 (03:06:58):
Sometimes.
Speaker 4 (03:07:00):
Anyway, that song came on and I said that that's
a number one song, and multiple people at twenty dollars
against me. I was on the hook for then, you know,
over one hundred dollars for me, But I ended up
the song did hit number one. It was a smash.
And then that was her first of several.
Speaker 12 (03:07:19):
Nice way to show them yet the rat That was
also the same room where the Humpty Dance was played,
and we had some older people in the room that thought.
Speaker 4 (03:07:32):
It so they thought it was said it was garbage.
I said, no, it was super fun. Yeah, it's one
of my all time favorites.
Speaker 3 (03:07:43):
Yes it is. You're mister Humpty Dance.
Speaker 4 (03:07:47):
Stop what you're doing because I'm about to ruin the
image in the style that you used to. And twenty
nine years ago today, the Oprah Winfrey started the Oprah
Book Club. Yeah, her first select trivia question the Deep
End of the Ocean. Oh, the book was a hit,
(03:08:09):
the movie bigger because the movie starred Michelle Pfeiffer.
Speaker 3 (03:08:12):
Oh, that's right, that's right.
Speaker 2 (03:08:14):
Now.
Speaker 4 (03:08:14):
Last time we mentioned Michelle Pfeiffer on the air, I said,
I'll give you twenty dollars if you can correctly spell Feiffer,
and my money was safe. Now now five dollars if
you can spell.
Speaker 2 (03:08:25):
Fifer pf i f fr.
Speaker 3 (03:08:33):
No, isn't it pup fifer.
Speaker 4 (03:08:35):
My money is safe again.
Speaker 2 (03:08:36):
Of course it is pf ei f f e r.
All right, well that was close.
Speaker 4 (03:08:43):
There's extra foul in there that you yeah, but.
Speaker 3 (03:08:45):
Hey, real quick, Michelle number fifty six. Today is their birthday,
their son, Jacob's birthday. He's twenty two. He was the
third cutest baby in Spokane when we did the baby
concert contest at the other station. Okay, third, this is
my boy. Oh he's so cute and now he's only thirty. Sorry,
(03:09:06):
we're happy birthday.
Speaker 2 (03:09:08):
She won for that? Did she win anything?
Speaker 4 (03:09:09):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (03:09:10):
I would have to ask her. And then Trevor has
a quiz for us. Okay, he says, oh, first, he says,
no fun facts for two weeks in a row and
calling my congress person. I'm outraged, okay, and then he says,
question who has the best job at the moment? A
(03:09:31):
the Colts punter.
Speaker 4 (03:09:33):
Who has not punted yet this season?
Speaker 2 (03:09:35):
Right? Or B? Who who?
Speaker 3 (03:09:37):
What's your follow up?
Speaker 2 (03:09:39):
Please follow up, Trevor, don't leave us hanging.
Speaker 4 (03:09:42):
Yeah, it's the first time in NFL history that a
team has started and played two games and not had
a punt.
Speaker 3 (03:09:48):
Oh, I see what he was doing. He was doing,
Q who has the greatest job the moment? A for answer?
He was It wasn't an or. I was thinking it
was like A or B. Now I get it, Sorry, Trevor,
question answer the Colt punter.
Speaker 2 (03:10:04):
That was his joke.
Speaker 3 (03:10:05):
Yeah, yeah, okay, got it.
Speaker 4 (03:10:08):
I like football facts. There always fun and four years
ago today, I've never seen this. I think you watched
some of it the Squid Games premiered.
Speaker 3 (03:10:17):
I watched like an episode.
Speaker 2 (03:10:19):
Of Squid Game. I guess I'm it's not my thing.
Speaker 4 (03:10:22):
The third and final season debuted earlier this summer.
Speaker 2 (03:10:28):
We can be done with that. It never really was a.
Speaker 4 (03:10:32):
Thing to me, but I know it's a huge hit worldwide.
It was a monster hit. I think you did better
in other countries than I did here.
Speaker 3 (03:10:40):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:10:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:10:41):
Television notes tonight, America's got Talent. It's the semi final results,
eight o'clock NBC.
Speaker 3 (03:10:48):
Hey did Dancing with the Stars quietly go on the
air this week. Believe had tons of pictures from on
social media.
Speaker 2 (03:10:58):
But I don't, you know, I didn't see any of it.
Speaker 3 (03:11:02):
Michelle says, they got nothing, just the prestige.
Speaker 2 (03:11:07):
Well, it's quite prestigious.
Speaker 4 (03:11:09):
Yes, And the fourth season premiere of the Morning Show
that's on Apple TV. Okay, yeah, it's kind of a thing.
I watched the whole first season. I thought it was great,
and then I don't know why I never went.
Speaker 2 (03:11:19):
Back to it.
Speaker 3 (03:11:21):
I also watched, I think, most of the first season,
but I don't have Apple TV at my house, that's why.
Speaker 4 (03:11:27):
And then you do have exciting Seattle Mariner baseball action.
They play I believe it's a four forty start. They're
playing Kansas City. They'll be going for their eleventh win
in a row, the current division leading Seattle Mariners.
Speaker 3 (03:11:40):
And you say that you don't want to overlook an opponent,
but after you win, they win tonight and then they
get for the sweep tomorrow. Then they will be.
Speaker 4 (03:11:50):
Then then they got the big series against the Astros,
and that'll be you know, that's the first place team
and the second place team, right, that's that's going to
be the one that really probably decides the division.
Speaker 2 (03:12:04):
Very confident in the Mariners. Okay, they got the big dumper,
you know. Oh yeah, had two more home runs, Yeah,
two more ingers.
Speaker 3 (03:12:09):
Last night Yep, yep, boom went the dynamite.
Speaker 4 (03:12:13):
Yes, late night tonight. Jimmy Fallon has Jason Bateman.
Speaker 2 (03:12:17):
You like him.
Speaker 3 (03:12:18):
He's got a new movie coming out that looks in tense.
It's with Jude Law and it looks it looks very intense.
Speaker 2 (03:12:26):
He likes to do those.
Speaker 3 (03:12:27):
Yeah, you know, he's like the bad brother and the
other brothers like Welfy and I saw a preview during
the Emmys.
Speaker 2 (03:12:35):
It looked looked pretty good.
Speaker 4 (03:12:38):
Wander Sykes will be on with Jimmy Kimmel, Ron Howard
and Gary Oldman will be all with Stephen Colbert and
Rob Reiner. More on that later. Reiner will be on
with Seth Myers.
Speaker 3 (03:12:48):
Yes, because of spinal tap. Yep, what are we going
to see about spinal tap? When are you going to
go see spinal Tap?
Speaker 2 (03:12:56):
Today. Stop it boom? What two day? What this after noon? Yeah?
Speaker 8 (03:13:06):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (03:13:07):
Very exciting, isn't it?
Speaker 3 (03:13:09):
Yes, it is.
Speaker 4 (03:13:09):
I didn't think I would see it in the theater.
But my daughter she said, hey, what do you think
if we do this?
Speaker 2 (03:13:15):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (03:13:16):
And I said, I think I think I can make
that work.
Speaker 2 (03:13:18):
All right.
Speaker 4 (03:13:19):
So yeah, today's the day. I'll have a full report tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (03:13:22):
Excellent. I love that. Well, I am going to leave
here sooner than I did yesterday. Oh yeah, but today
is the day that we put all the packages together
for the auction, So heading over to Mary's. I'll probably
be there most of the afternoon. It might take us
a bit to do it. So I have to be
(03:13:43):
able to.
Speaker 2 (03:13:44):
Drink wine and chat while you're doing it, or is
it like all serious business?
Speaker 3 (03:13:48):
We could Mary doesn't drink anymore at all. Oh, I
know you're driving me home. It's not something that. No,
it's the middle of the day. Why would we do
that My day would be and how would I get home?
So yes, potentially we could, but we're not going to.
So we have we have people on the computers putting
stuff in, We're deciding what goes with what, taking photographs.
(03:14:10):
All of that is happening today. I hope to get
it all done today. It would be great. So then
we'll know what's rafful, what's live auction, what's silent auction.
That'll be great. That's most of my day. But I
am on the way there.
Speaker 2 (03:14:24):
I need a.
Speaker 3 (03:14:25):
Little pick me up, so I think I'm going to
go through our friendly Dutch bros. Get something, and then
I need to go to the store really fast and
get some stuff for like dinner, and then to bring
for lunch. I don't want to be hungry. No, I'm
going to bring my own food and that's all. And
then and then tonight I'm just on my own, so
trying to make good decisions. Dancing with the Stars was
(03:14:48):
last night. Steve uh, Steve Irwin's son killed it.
Speaker 4 (03:14:54):
Steve irwins son. Okay, right, m okay, let's see. I
will I will head home. I'm going to take my
daughter to work. That'll be kind of early afternoon. And
then I'll have all empty bins, so some more clean
up stuff will happen. I should take Malle for a walk.
(03:15:14):
I think it's a good day for a walk. We
had we walked a really long walk on Saturday, but
that's been it lately. So that's that's that's I want
to do that. So I'll put that in there. And
then I'm going to meet my oldest daughter downtown and
we're gonna see Spinal Tap two. The end continues, I
love it, Yeah, and that was I was good to
(03:15:36):
like not see it in the theater. I thought it
would be one of those movies that I'll wait for
it to come on and I'll watch it then. And
she she writes, she loves the movie. She loves the original,
which came out before she was even born.
Speaker 2 (03:15:48):
But she gets it. It's very funny.
Speaker 4 (03:15:51):
So she says, hey, we should go, and I said, yes,
we should. Yeah, so that'll be.
Speaker 3 (03:15:56):
It's like a late afternoon movie.
Speaker 4 (03:15:57):
Did you say, yeah, it's like five oh forty five.
Speaker 3 (03:16:02):
What do you do about dinner? Then eat before, you
don't fill up on popcorn.
Speaker 4 (03:16:06):
No, I'll eat before and fill up on popcorn. So
I do both.
Speaker 8 (03:16:11):
Well.
Speaker 3 (03:16:11):
I think it's important to eat something normal before you
fill up on popcorn, because in my experience, if you're
hungry and you just eat a bunch of popcorn, you
fill it crap. But you can eat a lot more
popcorn than I can.
Speaker 4 (03:16:23):
I will eat. I always do. This is what I
always do for any movie. Yeah, I buy the refillable popcorn,
and usually before the movie starts, I go get the.
Speaker 2 (03:16:35):
Refill How can you even do that? I love the popcorn, I.
Speaker 3 (03:16:38):
Know, but it's so salty.
Speaker 2 (03:16:40):
I know, but I love it.
Speaker 3 (03:16:42):
And then you have to drink so much diet coke
and then you have to pee in the middle of
the movie.
Speaker 2 (03:16:45):
Well sometimes I do.
Speaker 3 (03:16:46):
Will you share the popcorn with your daughter?
Speaker 2 (03:16:49):
Of course? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (03:16:49):
Yeah, so you share a bucket?
Speaker 4 (03:16:51):
Well yeah, I mean I'm gonna I'll have more of
it than she.
Speaker 3 (03:16:55):
Will, right, Yeah, but yeah, you're sharing. It's not like
she's getting her own bucket as well.
Speaker 4 (03:16:59):
No, no, there's no need to get two buckets if
it's a refillable And will.
Speaker 3 (03:17:03):
You both use Will you just put it between you
and then take turns? Yeah, you're not, like you don't
have your arm around it like a prisoner guardian.
Speaker 4 (03:17:12):
Raw No, of course not anyway, there's that fun.
Speaker 8 (03:17:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (03:17:19):
Actually, there's a slight chance that I may do the
walk after the.
Speaker 2 (03:17:23):
Movie, kind of walking dark.
Speaker 4 (03:17:26):
It will be dark.
Speaker 3 (03:17:27):
Yeah, I know. My poor doggie. She also is just
I said, she's given up. She's just yesterday she got
a walk because Ken was there in the morning. But
I've been terrible.
Speaker 2 (03:17:38):
I haven't.
Speaker 3 (03:17:38):
I've been terrible. And then I had the whole thing
where I was working out here in the morning and
I was all excited about it, and then I think this,
I just have a lot going on right now.
Speaker 8 (03:17:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (03:17:47):
I need to get through this and then I can
focus back on like getting on a routine and working.
Speaker 2 (03:17:51):
Out and stuff. It is a crazy busy week next week.
Speaker 4 (03:17:54):
Yeah, I mean for for for both of us, but
more more you.
Speaker 2 (03:17:58):
Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 3 (03:17:59):
I'm hoping this week is getting everything settled so that
next week I can just be It's still gonna be busy.
Everything's gonna be fine.
