her children that's out of our control, it could be
very stressful. So I want parents to know a place
and service to turn too. So, as I was saying
on my show, I have back Linda bow Caring, a
private investigator. Linda was supposed to be a ballerina, an
unexpected bought Twist letter to a career as being a
private investigator. On one of her first cases over forty

She has rescued hundreds of children and now educates others

(05:55):
identifying and avoiding predators both online and per Today, we'll
be discussing keeping our children safe for Halloween. So let's
shine a light on children's safety for Halloween. And welcome
back linden Berg Caring, a licensed California private investigator to

(06:15):
my show.

Speaker 4 (06:16):
Thank you so much for having me here. I appreciate it.
It's good to be back.

Speaker 3 (06:20):
It's good to be back. It's good to have you back.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
So any who, I'm going to get this out of
the way at the very beginning I looked a little
different than usual, have a little run in with a
sidewalk yesterday. So it's not a Halloween costume. It's just
you know, a temporary fashion statement, so to speak.

Speaker 3 (06:41):
Yeah, it at least you don't have anything broken, and
that's really important.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
Right, got bumps and bruises and nothing broken.

Speaker 3 (06:50):
That's good. Now let's get going with Halloween and being dark.
We really will want to make sure children are safe,
especially because we don't know who's out there where and
what are our children most vulnerable vulnerable while celebrating Halloween.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Well, now you would think they'd be the most vulnerable
out walking the streets trick or treating, and in some
areas that's true if they're in areas that are not
well lit, or if they're walking along busy streets, high
traffic streets. But they can also be vulnerable at Halloween parties.
So you know, they could be invited to a party
and they don't necessarily know who all is going to

(07:31):
be there. Sometimes, especially teenagers, you know, have parties and
they invite anyone and everyone they know, and you don't
always know, and that leads to you know, dangers including
maybe something being slipped in a drink or you know,
there's been stories over the years of things been putting
candy that kids get when they're trick or treating. And
I'll talk a little bit more about that later. But

(07:53):
at parties, you don't really know who's there, who they're around.
Ventanyl and other drugs pop up all over the place
these days. It's very dangerous, so you just want to
make sure you know exactly who they're with and where
they are, and if they're walking streets, I just say
walking the streets, that sounds terrible. If they're trigger training
on the street, make sure they have flashlights and you know,

(08:15):
costumes that can be well seen and things like that.

Speaker 3 (08:18):
Yeah, yeah, you know, gosh, when I was growing up,
I guess it was razor blights.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
It was razor blades and candy bars and.

Speaker 3 (08:25):
Candy bars are apples because people gave rick you know,
apples like that, and you had to be careful not
to have anything that have punctures. And you know, I
was a very careful person to check everything out and
my mom wants to do so it's unreal that now
we have to because of you know, be careful e
fuminol And that's really ann thing. Maybe it can be unseen.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
Or there's been things that look like candy that are
actually laced with entanyl. So there have been Yeah, there's
been seizures. There we go, what I was looking for,
seizures of drugs or you know, suspicious things that they
found a test and it looks like like Smarties, those
little candy Smarties and things like that that are actually

(09:10):
laced with ventanyl.

Speaker 3 (09:12):
Yeah, it's in the actual box that looks like.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
Oh it's you know, because they're rolled up in the
little paper roll. Okay, so it's easy to unroll it
and do something with it and roll it back up
and you can't even tell.

Speaker 3 (09:24):
Wow, they make it the same shape.

Speaker 4 (09:27):
Mm hmm.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
Wow. I guess it could be like a I was
to give us why I was thinking of those gummy.

Speaker 4 (09:32):
Things that too. I mean, it could be gummy like
gummy bears.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
I think it's a little like dome things that have
like sugar.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
Oh yeah, yeah, it could be like any any soft candy.
It's super simple to do. And that's also happened with
candies that looked like Skittles. So yeah, it's scary. It's
a scary world out there, you know.

Speaker 3 (09:54):
M and MS stay away from M and ms. I
guess I don't know.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
I think I might notice that candy coating was tampered with.
You had to look at them closely.

Speaker 3 (10:02):
Skill also kind of have that candy hunting you know. Okay,
this is us thick as the M.

Speaker 4 (10:07):
And M right, Yeah, oh wow, that's scary and it's scary.

Speaker 5 (10:13):
Now.

Speaker 3 (10:14):
You know, we really have to do this this these days.
You know, could you get an outline of boundaries for
parents to give their children. I know that's something that
we just have to do. If I had a little
one like spacific areas where they can go through good treating,
trunk treating, or they will be with sure.

Speaker 4 (10:34):
So yeah, you know, back in the day, like my
brothers and I would see how far away from home
we could get and then work wake our way back.
And it was safe. It was the sixties, you know,
it was safe. Well, there were the raizor blades in
the apples every now and then, but yeah, I didn't
take anything that wasn't candy, which is kind of funny,
or made by a neighbor. We knew because a couple
of our neighbors made these great cookies and doughnuts. If

(10:57):
they did a Halloween, But anyway, there's there doesn't seem
to be as much door to door treeting going on
these days as there once was. A lot of places
are putting on events called trunk or treating, where it's
a a big venue somewhere and literally you go from
trunk to trunk and the people have candy to give out,
and those are more monitored till I say, they pretty

(11:20):
much know who's at those things. It's often put on
by a school or a church, or chamber of commerce
or you know, something where there's a little bit of
control over who's doing what. So those, in my opinion anyway,
seem to be pretty safe locations tigger treating. Obviously, if
they're going to go out trick or treating, you want
to stay close to home. If they're little kids, a

(11:42):
parent should go with them, and there's a long driveway.
The parents should walk up the driveway. I had where
I used to live. It wasn't that far to the sidewalk,
but they would send you know, kids that could barely
walk up to the front door by themselves. And for
kids look adorable, but you know mom or dad should
be there because you don't know who's in that.

Speaker 3 (12:02):
Out Yeah, because maybe it's a rented house now you
don't know.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
Yeah, So I sound so overly paranoid and cautious.

Speaker 3 (12:10):
But not a bad idea though.

Speaker 4 (12:12):
You just have to be these days. Just you know,
there's too much craziness going on out there right now.
And you know, all about kids. I'm all about kids
being safe.

Speaker 3 (12:22):
So yeah, and I tell you the truth. I think
it's safer whenever there's a like when they're little or littler,
to do things as a group.

Speaker 4 (12:31):
Oh, absolutely, other kids.

Speaker 3 (12:33):
And then you're with other parents and you're having fun,
do eye on everything.

Speaker 4 (12:40):
And even when they're at that age when they're like
maybe eight, nine, ten, nine, ten eleven, where the parents
are a little bit freer with them, make sure they
go out in groups. So yes, they're not by themselves.
I mean, I still would think there should be a
parent run, which of course the kids would hate, but
there should be one that can see them sort of
what they're doing. But you know, you don't want an eight

(13:00):
year old walking up the houses all buy himself for
a nine year old. But you know they're like, I'm
not a toddler anymore, Mom, I can go Yeah, well, well,
they should be with their friends. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
I think it's really important for at least when they're
a little bit older, because you know, they know not
to run into the street at that time. Parents there
in case something happens. They may trip and fall and
hurt themselves, you know, or they may you know, I
don't know.

Speaker 4 (13:26):
You know, on a sidewalk, you.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
Could triple the sidewalk, but you know, maybe they have
a health condition or something triggered, and so at least
the parents there in case, in case of emergency, you know,
and in case, you know, something strange is going on
as well. Now you briefly touch on the importance sick
and it's really important when they have those masses they

(13:49):
can see. I make sure my son had that. I
make sure that you know that it was a something
you could be seen at night. But do you have
any other specific ideas about good costumes.

Speaker 4 (14:02):
Yeah. You also want to make sure they're non flammable,
because a lot of people have candles. I used to
have these little pumpkins or candles and then along my sidewalk,
and they were set back enough to where anyone really
paying attention where they were going would notice. But a
small child it could you know, they could have bumped
into them. So I was very careful about that obviously.

(14:24):
But a lot of people do that. They have candles
and there could be open you know, just candle flames
and a costume. Oftentimes it's windy or breezy on things
on a Halloween night and so you don't know if
the costume is going to blow a little bit and
could hit a flame or something, so that's super important.
Or some of them are made out of fabric that

(14:45):
is so highly flammable that even if it were to
hit like a hot light, it could melt or even
burst into flame, which is scary. You want to make
sure you get non flammable costume.

Speaker 3 (14:56):
I think some of those princess costumes are you know,
they're like a little you know, even like a ballerina thing.
There's some frills that was like, they probably don't pay
attention where those frills are going.

Speaker 4 (15:07):
Yeah, gussy fabric or shaffanie type fabric. Yeah, it can
go all over, So that's important. And then like you said, masks,
they've got to be able to see, yes in their masks,
and a lot of those full face masks they can't
see they can't breathe properly either.

Speaker 3 (15:23):
Actually, yeah, maybe just some you know, eyewear versus you.

Speaker 4 (15:27):
Know, because as kids, the little you know, the little
eye masks, and that was it.

Speaker 3 (15:33):
Yeah, you know, it's funny. When I was trick of
treating with my son when he was younger, I wore
one of these. I don't even know if I still.
It was really decorated. It was like a little mask
and I was in my running gear, but it matched
my mask. I'm the happy runner. I'm very creative when

(15:54):
it comes to that's great. I always try to. You know,
we were we were pirates at one time because of
the wiggles and you know, you want to be captured
feather sword. There was a theme of he was Luke Skywalker,
I was Prisis Leah. He was lighting Me Queen, and

(16:17):
we were mechanical outfits to look like his pit crew.

Speaker 4 (16:21):
So cute. That's really clever.

Speaker 3 (16:23):
I really had.

Speaker 4 (16:26):
That. There was one year when I was in high
school that my my friend and I dressed up in
these clown costumes that my grandmother had made for my parents,
like when they first got married. So they were like
these vinchage costumes, and we packed him with pillows, so
we looked just huge and we could barely walk and
we thought at one point one of us, I think
she fell down and we couldn't stand her back up.

(16:47):
And there's costumes like that too that we were at
the top and we literally walked down the street and
we were being silly. But there's costumes like that or
inflatable costumes that you know, adults can get away with wearing.
The kids probably we should know.

Speaker 3 (17:00):
And you don't want anything that's going to make them trip. Yeah,
yeahible shoes, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 4 (17:08):
Think about the shoes. Shoes are important.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
Yeah, they're frequent. I heard if it's if it's uncomfortable, yeah,
it's stuck. Anyways, just have more tennis.

Speaker 4 (17:17):
And then they're not as inclined to step on something
that could hurt their feet or trip on something or whatever.

Speaker 3 (17:22):
Ageah yeah, yeah, and you briefly touched on this subject too,
but we'll dive into just a little bit more. But
you know, you need to prepare your child with you know,
if they're approached by a stranger while trick or treating
or truck or treat and you mentioned a Halloween party.

(17:43):
Can you give people some simple tactics that they can
that you can teach them for their kids.

Speaker 4 (17:49):
Sure. Number one is stranger danger, which works everywhere, but
even at a party, if someone, a totally unknown person
comes up and offers a child food or a drink
or something, they should say no, it needs to come
from the host or the hostess. They want to make
sure they know where it came from, especially at larger parties.
If you're at a little tiny party with you know,

(18:10):
your family, you know you're safe, but kind of a
larger party where you don't know, make sure that the
food comes from either the main table where the food
is not someone walking around offering new food or things
like that, because.

Speaker 6 (18:22):
These these predators are very creative for how they lure
kids away, and it happens to adults too with you know,
things slipped in drinks or food, So that's really important.

Speaker 4 (18:33):
Yeah, and don't take if your trick or treating and
someone offers a bottle of water, say it's hot, which
is not usually hot, but you know, someone offers a
bottle of water, don't take it unless you can tell
for sure it's original sealed, you know, factory sealed, which
you know if you take it and you open the
top it snaps open, but I would advise them just
not to take it at all. Kids should have their

(18:54):
own water with them if they need it or something
like that.

Speaker 3 (18:57):
You know those busy parties times you get separated from
people that you're with.

Speaker 4 (19:02):
Right, Yeah, just have fun like you used to be
able to back in the day.

Speaker 3 (19:07):
So yeah, to find out who you're with and stick
with them.

Speaker 4 (19:11):
Yeah, absolutely, or just not go to giant parties. But
you know, yeah, parties are fun.

Speaker 3 (19:18):
Sometimes they're a haunted house that's dark.

Speaker 4 (19:21):
Yes, Oh my gosh. My. My church group when I
was a teenager went to a haunted house, the scariest
haunted house, and back in the day, they would let
the characters touch and I was really tiny and one
of the monsters picked me up like you were going
to carry me away. I almost ripped the arm out
of the guy behind me in line because because, I mean,

(19:44):
it was so real and I thought, oh, now, I
think nowadays they're not allowed to touch anyone, but it
was one that was like, you know, a professional haunted house,
but they would let them touch you, and you know,
it was terrible. I've not gone to a haunted house since.
It was terrible.

Speaker 3 (19:58):
I think I've gone, I go to Hanah house and
my kid children, I would be with them. Yeah, because
it's usually the lighting is not very good. I me
very just orienting, and you know, I'm gotta be safe
than sorry.

Speaker 4 (20:12):
Absolutely absolutely Yeah. When we did that, when it was
just kids and I was probably nine or ten, I
was pretty little, pretty young, and parents weren't going through it.
They just sent us through whatever was in charge. I
came out and I was like, that is never happening again,
and it never has. It's like totally traumatized me when
comes the haunted houses. No kidding. I literally thought this

(20:36):
guy was going to carry me away.

Speaker 3 (20:38):
Yeah, did you kick him?

Speaker 4 (20:42):
What? I did? Kick him? And like I said, I
held onto the guy behind me so hard I practically
like pulled his arm out of the socket. He was
laughing afterwards, he was laughing, but I hurt his arm
because it's like, no one's taking me, or they're taking me.
You're coming with.

Speaker 3 (21:00):
Oh there you go.

Speaker 4 (21:03):
Never go off by yourself. See that's you know, don't
wander around by yourself. Stick to somebody, have a.

Speaker 3 (21:08):
Buddy, yes, yes, and always ask your parents' permission on
something like that. Just doesn't go off on your own.

Speaker 4 (21:16):
Yeah, absolutely need to require that because you know, a
lot of parents are like, oh, they're okay, they're out
there having fun, and you know that's a disaster struck.

Speaker 3 (21:26):
Well, well, it's interesting. This neighborhood used to be one
of the most popular neighborhoods, and over the years it's
like maybe two or three doorbell ranks. Yeah, it's all
because of what's been happening lately, and I really blame people. Really,
it's sad.

Speaker 4 (21:43):
Because it used to be so fun. It was so
fun to get your costume and plan where you were
going to go, get your candy, go home and sort
through it all. You know. It was just such a
fun thing. And yeah, a lot of it's been ruined
over the years.

Speaker 3 (21:55):
And it's also fun for the parents because we used
to watch a movie or something like you know, Young Frankenstein.
You know, well we're waiting for the trick or treats,
ring that doorbell and things like that.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
A lot of the fun has been taken away. I
think this year is it on a Saturday. I think
it's on a weekend. This year, there'll probably be a
lot of party, which you know, interferes, so to speak.
With the trick or treating. But if I was a parent,
I would want my kids to be at home at
my party instead of out anyway.

Speaker 3 (22:26):
Very true. Maybe a lot of parents are doing that anyways.
Or it's a Friday night, weekend night.

Speaker 4 (22:34):
Yeah, there are going to be parties.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
Neighborhoods can have their own party they really want if
they have a lot of little kids. And yeah, it's
just and that's what part of that trunk and treating
at churches and things like that like a party. I
remember my you know, I got pulled in many of
those trunk trunk and.

Speaker 4 (22:52):
Treating and I was like, isn't that trunk and treat treating?

Speaker 3 (22:56):
And because you don't want to say trunk and anyway,
but it was a fun thing to do with it,
you know, with his friends and things like that. They
would decorate their trunks in a different theme of Halloween.
So yeah, it's fun to see and it's all that.

Speaker 4 (23:13):
Stuff is fun. So it just has to stay safe.

Speaker 3 (23:16):
Yeah, you do have to stay safe.

Speaker 4 (23:19):
You know.

Speaker 3 (23:19):
One thing that is it was a problem for us
as we were growing up and still palm for a
lot of kids. You know, for sure, there's dietary problems.
I mean, my son is allergic to train us. So
what what do you recommend for parents?

Speaker 4 (23:39):
Well, first of all, somehow you have to convince the
kids not to eat anything till they get home exactly,
which we've always told that. We're like, you don't eat candy.
The goal was to collect the candy, not to eat it.
That was like, you don't you don't eat anything until
you get home. And that helps, especially if there's allergies,
because not everyone that's handing out candy does that or

(24:00):
you know, tries to avoid those things. There's so many
candy bars that have nuts in them or other things
that they could be allergic to. And then you know,
things that are tampered with. I know last year there
were just a handful of reports on candy that was
tampered with. And when there's only a couple reports, you know,
you don't know if it's really real or not. It's
almost like someone just wants to mess with people. But

(24:22):
you've got to be careful and check the packaging and
make sure it really is sealed shut and there's no
little holes in it, which is kind of a pain,
but it needs to be done. So the kids need
to know not to eat anything, and you know, unless
unless it's something that as far as like homemade things,
like I said, one of our neighbors that lived across
the street may be the most amazing, like apple cinnamon

(24:43):
doughnuts at Halloween, and she'd get you little miniature ones,
and she gave them out and we ate those while
we were treating because they were usually warm, so like
she was heading them out warm to the kids. So
something like that, if you know the person for sure
is probably safe, but it's still a good idea just
not to anything untill they get home, so mom and
dad or whoever can inspect it and make sure it's

(25:04):
safe and not something with an allergen in it or
like I'm allergic to tumoric among a whole bunch of things.
But turmeric is popping up in all kinds of things,
including like donuts, And it was in vanilla ice cream
that my husband bought not too long ago, Like why
would there be So it's in candies now too, I saw.
I can't remember what kind of candy it was that.

Speaker 3 (25:28):
Yeah, probably coffee drinks as well.

Speaker 4 (25:30):
I mean, oh yeah, so I make all that kind
of stuff. I make it myself or it's such a
weird thing to be allergic to, but it's in everything
right now. So yeah, if the kids have allergies, you know,
in addition to peanuts, other allergies, it's super important to
check with that.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
Yeah, well peanuts is actually a lego, it's not net.

Speaker 4 (25:48):
That's true. There's trinuts and I always plump it together.
But yeah, and some.

Speaker 3 (25:54):
People you know an intolerant as well. And sugar. You
really want you kids have that much sugar?

Speaker 4 (26:01):
Yeah, because it was really you know, the room that's
where you don't all hopped up and awake for three
days because.

Speaker 3 (26:11):
So they can enjoy some of it, but maybe you
should like you know, push it off to you know,
give it away if people take candy from Halloween anymore,
because it's you know, the kids don't need that sugar.

Speaker 4 (26:25):
That is true. I think my parents made us, like
you know, I think my dad ate a lot of it.
But there were four of us kids and so it
got split up in four you know, containers or whatever
and got put on a shelf. And you know, it's
not like we took the bag of candy to our
room and went crazy and I ate it all. So
it lasted a while.

Speaker 3 (26:44):
Yeah, but yeah, I mean I've found things that are
really old. I ended up throwing it away.

Speaker 4 (26:51):
Yeah, yeah, I want to get to a certain point.
It's like, nope, that just goes, that just goes.

Speaker 3 (26:56):
Is this from Halloween? Yeah, it's December, it can go exactly.
It's just you know, it's okay for a few items.
They really don't need that many.

Speaker 4 (27:07):
That's where the parties are better than trick or treating really,
and especially as much fun as it once was. Anyway,
go to a party where you get your stuff and
you eat your food that's not necessarily all good for you,
but then when you go home, all that food isn't sitting.

Speaker 3 (27:20):
There exactly exactly exactly. Yeah, And you know, at these parties,
I guess there's a lot of things that can go on.
You know, there's activities and games and and I don't
even know if they've done for amples anymore.

Speaker 4 (27:38):
I remember doing that as a kid.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
But yeah, yeah, so I don't know. They really need
to know. The parents really need to know the people
that are they do that are doing these parties, and
maybe ask the parents, you know, how big is this
party going to be? How many people you're going to
have because you know, you don't want your child to
you know, especially if they're shy to become a flower child,

(28:03):
a wall child. You know they got a wallflower?

Speaker 4 (28:06):
Yeah, flower? Yeah, and.

Speaker 3 (28:12):
Only because that can be they can lead to trouble.

Speaker 4 (28:15):
Yes, it can lead to trouble. That's there's been assaults
that have happened and it's sort of disappeared from parties
because they went off with somebody, or they leave by
themselves because they're either bored or lonely or scared or
feel like they're being bullied by someone and they'll take off.
So they should always have a buddy. If the parents
not there, they need to have a buddy. Someone for

(28:37):
sure knows. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
The buddy needs to stick with them too.

Speaker 4 (28:39):
Yeah. Yeah, that's the whole point. The buddy has to be.
They've got to be stuck to each other, like blue.
Just handcuff them together. They sorry, wait before you going
to party, carr you guys hand cuffs.

Speaker 1 (28:54):
No.

Speaker 4 (28:55):
One probably won't like that, but I apologize. But that's
kind of funny. It could be part of their cost.

Speaker 3 (29:01):
And that's just reminded me. I mean this is not
even Halloween related, but you know, sometimes when I do
with my half Maratha. You see people dressed up and
these guys are all dressed up like they were a
changing right here you go, and it's like everyone had
to run run together.

Speaker 4 (29:23):
That's funny. But yeah, there's kind of that part to it. Hey,
it keeps them together, especially the like the preteens or
the you know, young the young teens. You know, some
thirteen year olds are thirteen going on twenty five and
some are thirteen going on ten. So the young ones especially,
they need to for sure be attached to a buddy.

Speaker 3 (29:45):
Somehow. It isn't really easy to recognize someone that might
be pretting danger for a child.

Speaker 4 (29:53):
It is. It's a lot easier online than it's in person,
which seems kind of weird. But if someone like if
an adult or even it can be a young adult
with a young teenager, so like the ten year age
difference or whatever, being overly flirty or something like that
is that can be a sign. You know, there's some

(30:16):
people that just don't really get the concept of whether
or not they should flirt with a kid because they
think they're being funny. Sometimes they just think they're being funny,
but they're young, right, Yeah, if they're just too young
for them, and they're they shouldn't be showing that much
interest in that.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
And plus maybe they're trying to do that, you track
them to do something they shouldn't do. Yeah, that's we're
not to Daynsel.

Speaker 4 (30:40):
It's so uplifting to have me on a podcast.

Speaker 3 (30:45):
You're gonna laugh about you. Try try to be you know,
I try.

Speaker 4 (30:48):
To be upbeating you every now and then. I'll make
a joke when I'm out doing a presentation, and half
the time they fall flat. I'm just trying to be
funny for a minute, because this is also heavy. Like
the kids, especially the kids, they don't get the joke,
so they're like, they really don't. Yeah, but you know,
got to have a little bit of white hearted something
in all of this.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
Yeah, they really need you know, the parents need to
be educated, and so do the children.

Speaker 4 (31:13):
They do.

Speaker 3 (31:14):
You know, I was just thinking this the other day.
You know, the world I grew up and is completely
different than the world my son is growing up. And
even though my world was a little bit different, it
wasn't so dramatically different. That makes sense. Yeah, Yeah, and
it's you know, they are they had to have different
you know, different Bible techniques, different ways of dealing with

(31:37):
things because I didn't have to deal with that.

Speaker 4 (31:40):
Happened, right, Yeah, there's all kinds of stuff they have
to deal with that we never never have anything, you know.

Speaker 3 (31:46):
And I know there's some things that are different for
us as we grew up. You know, my were born
in the passion era. But yeah, so you know, but
my whole point is is that you know, things change
germany years, but it's dramatically but and I'm hoping it's
coming back up.

Speaker 4 (32:07):
I so, yeah, because really, yeah, we.

Speaker 3 (32:13):
Just need to you know, make sure our children are safe,
make sure that we're safe. Yeah, and just be aware
of stuff out there. And that's why, you know, even
though these podcasts are a little bit you know, things
that people don't want to hear about. Possibly, it's important
to know and get educated so that you could do

(32:34):
something for your kids, yeah, for yourself, so that you know,
when you have this type of thing going on, they
know where to turn to.

Speaker 4 (32:41):
Absolutely.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
Do you've had any other advice?

Speaker 4 (32:45):
I have great advice for that particular thing, to get educed,
for the parents, to get educated. Number one chainless plug.

Speaker 3 (32:52):
Why my book.

Speaker 4 (32:56):
It's called Your Amazing Iddy bitty Keep your Children's Safe Book.
It's little time you can see it's any bitty, so
it's a quick read. It's available on Amazon, and it
has all the basics for what kids and adults need
to use, need to know, and elderly as well. It
covers everybody. The only question that's totally different between a

(33:16):
predator going after a child and when going after someone
that's elderly is the question how old are you? And
sometimes they ask the older people how old they are,
but with kids, that's usually the first thing that's said
online and sometimes in person, how old they are.

Speaker 3 (33:30):
But that's cute, right.

Speaker 4 (33:32):
Yeah, yeah, so that's huge. And then there are places
you can search. I'm on the board of million Kids
dot org, which exists to educate kids and parents on
how to stay safe. And there's other entities like that
as well, so people can search out sextortion or human

(33:53):
trafficking education and they'll come up with places where they
can either get in person trainings or virtual trainings from
a million Kids. We go anywhere, and you know, I
will talk online, I will talk in person. I will
go wherever someone wants me, and I will talk to
a group of one I know that's not a group
but a group of one. It's happened or hundreds, it
doesn't matter. The size doesn't matter. It's so important to

(34:16):
get this out there.

Speaker 3 (34:17):
It is so you'll come and talk out of school,
right or so you know you should reach out to
her so that you know you can get you know,
people to know how to keep their children safe, no
matter it's Halloween or.

Speaker 4 (34:31):
Not, right all year round.

Speaker 3 (34:33):
Yeah, yeah, it's Halloween. Is a little nerv ful of
a trickier things.

Speaker 4 (34:39):
Yeah, there's more a few more unusual dangers going on
Halloween time.

Speaker 3 (34:44):
Yeah, yeah, very quickly. Do you have one more.

Speaker 4 (34:47):
Tip kids need to know to think about that? Okay?
Regarding stranger danger, and this is in person or online,
either way it works. If someone places you in a
position that's uncomfortable, scary, you don't know what to do,
go to a trusted adult and tell them something. This

(35:08):
is a dual This is a dual tip. So and
if you cannot do that, if they try to convince
you to go somewhere with them, do not go, no
matter what. If they try to physically pull you into
a car fight, do not get into the car. And
if you're online and they say hey, let's change this
chat room that we're into another one somewhere else. That's

(35:29):
just like being kidnapped on the street and taken to
a second location. So it's.

Speaker 3 (35:34):
Very good tip. Well, probably have more time at the
end of the show, but why don't we get to
your off room. So if you can show that Linda
has an offer, here you go. You can tell them.

Speaker 4 (35:47):
Okay, it's the top ten ways to keep children Safe.
It's available at this very complicated it's HDTPS. I know
it's a bitly link that's top ten ways to keep
children safe, and it is. It's my suggested top ten
things to look for, and it's it's pretty comprehensive. So

(36:09):
it's I suggest that anybody should have it and you know,
get it, keep it on your computer and carry it
around in your purse whatever, share it with your friends.
It's important information to have to keep them safe.

Speaker 3 (36:19):
Okay, And that's something that's really easy to get. And
and if something happens, I hope nothing happens to anyone's children,
Please contact Linda or some assistance. I've actually referred to
her some people. You know, I'm ready and I just mentioned,
