Speaker 1 (00:37):
All right, Uncle Bill. You have all three of us here.

Speaker 2 (00:39):
If there's any point of.

Speaker 3 (00:40):
This, get to it, will you. Uh? None of you
has ever been subtle and his dislike from.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
Me anyhow, I'm sure you don't think much more of
us than we think of you.

Speaker 3 (00:48):
We understand each other perfectly, don't they.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
I think we do love, Uncle Bill.

Speaker 1 (00:53):
If you have anything to say to us, say it.
Will I have a date?

Speaker 3 (00:56):
I apparently have a date too, and someone who wants
to kill me. As you all have been very pleased
to know, I have received several anonymous telephone calls threatening
my life. So what I can imagine how you three
must feel since my death means that you will inherit
my entire estate.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
It is still in the minions, isn't it, Uncle, More
missions than you.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Can imagine, And it is still left entirely to us, really,
because I have no choice in the matter. The condition
under which I inherits it from my father stipulates that
I must leave it all to you. Well, when you
see your father, which should be soon, say thanks for us.
Uh huh. I have taken it upon myself to add
something to my will, John, Will you stop playing with

(01:37):
that toy?

Speaker 2 (01:38):
It's not a toy, it's a magic trick. Huh.

Speaker 1 (01:41):
Now you see the current.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
Nither put your magic tricks away while I'm talking. I've
stated in my will and in the event that I'm murdered,
not one cent will be given to any of you
until my murder is solved. Really, yes, all of you
not only hate me, but you hate each other, two
of you with profit immensely. If one of you were
convicted of killing me.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
It amuses me, sir, picture each.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
Of you scrambling madly to blame my death. I'm one
of the others.

Speaker 2 (02:08):
If you really think someone's trying to kill you, why
don't you notify the police.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
I'm going to even be on the police, my dear Papa.
I'm going to Boston, Blackie.

Speaker 2 (02:22):

Speaker 1 (10:59):
Tell him? It? Codn't happened, but it did. Now back
to our story. When the wealthy Bill Blaine received strange
telephone calls threatening with death, he forced Boston Blackie to

(11:21):
become his bodyguard by digging up some old evidence against
Shorty Blackie's friend. When Blaine heard that he was to
be killed last night, Blackie called in the help of
the police to put Blaine in the locked room and
stood guard over him. Then the police insisted that Blackie leave,
and shortly thereafter Bill Blaine was shot and killed. As
we returned to our story, Inspector Faraday is at the.

Speaker 2 (11:44):
Scene of the crime.

Speaker 1 (11:48):
What do you mean no glass is broken? If the
shot didn't come from inside the room, it came from outside.
We've caught over every pane of glass, Inspector.

Speaker 2 (11:56):
There isn't even a crick anywhere.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
The windows are still locked. This is crazy, this is impossible.
We know it all right, the shot came from inside
the room. Then you've gone over all the pictures, the molding,
the fireplace. Every day.

Speaker 2 (12:08):
We've inspected every inch of fourboard to him.

Speaker 1 (12:11):
We haven't found the thing. It's crazy, it's impossible. Yes,
sat there a fire couple of cops you are, where's
the dead guy's family upstairs. All right, Bot, you go
up there and get him, yes, hope, Oh why not?

Speaker 2 (12:27):
For good?

Speaker 1 (12:27):
And who's that out there? Frankie?

Speaker 2 (12:32):
Well, inspect the Faraday. The danger must be over. You've arrived.

Speaker 1 (12:37):
What are you doing here?

Speaker 2 (12:38):
I'm not here, live here, Sure, I'm Bill Blaine's bodyguard.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
We'll get over there and got the body.

Speaker 2 (12:44):
Say he looks a little bit dead.

Speaker 1 (12:47):
He's been dead for forty five minutes.

Speaker 2 (12:49):
Then, I don't suppose you recover who shot him one
of your men.

Speaker 1 (12:53):
I not only don't know who shot him, I don't
even know how he was shot.

Speaker 2 (12:56):
Don't know how.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
Nothing inside this room fired a bullet. And there's not
a uh pane of glass broken in any of the
windows which were locked. What where were you forty five
minutes ago?

Speaker 2 (13:07):
Well that's hard to say. I didn't look at my watch.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
Where have you been?

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Sorry, pal, that's a secret.

Speaker 1 (13:12):
As long as you keep your secret, I'll keep you.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Don't let me call inspector put away that guy.

Speaker 1 (13:19):
Oh I will after I've put you where you belong
in jail.

Speaker 2 (13:22):
Now you know I didn't kill this guy.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
I don't say you did. But you're plenty mixed up
in this You live here in this house, your this
guy's body God, and yet you want God. And on
top of it all, you disappear when the guy gets killed,
and you won't tell me where you were. I can well,
I'm holding you was a material witness.

Speaker 2 (13:40):
I won't be very good material. And besides, I know
how Blaine was killed. Put away that gun and I'll
show you.

Speaker 1 (13:47):
I'll hold a gun and you'll still show me.

Speaker 2 (13:50):
All right, Okay, now if you mind if I opened
one of the windows, why to show you how it
was done? Go ahead, thanks, spect.

Speaker 1 (14:02):
No tricks now, and make it snappy. I don't have
all day.

Speaker 2 (14:06):

How is it done?

Speaker 2 (14:19):
Now? I'm the killer?

Speaker 1 (14:20):
Yeah?

Speaker 2 (14:21):
Now come over here and put your arm across the window.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
Still okay, but no tricks. I've got my gun right
in your face.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
You wouldn't shoot a pile, would you?

Speaker 1 (14:30):
A hell?

Speaker 2 (14:30):
No?

Speaker 1 (14:31):
Come on, come on, how is it done? Or like this?

Speaker 2 (14:33):
The killer stood here?

Speaker 1 (14:35):
Yeah? Wise guy. The window wasn't open, it was closed.

Speaker 2 (14:38):
Oh that's right, I forgot. Then maybe i'd better close it.
You are breaking my arm and you're breaking my heart.

Speaker 1 (14:46):
Dropping flanks, pal, I'll throw the book a trip.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
Well, make it a good book with the inspector, because
while you're trying to catch up with me, I'd like
to catch up on my reading.

Speaker 1 (15:01):
Yeah, yeah, I can. I'll say you can come in.
I wanna talk to you, Miss Wesley, Well, I wanna

This dumb jake? Who's there? The dumb jake who turned
out the lights? Wait, I'll turn 'em on again. Joe,
What are you doing in my role looking for a
clue to what your uncle's murny? Well, you won't find
it here, No, not now, because I already have. Look.

Speaker 1 (18:45):
I didn't do it.

Speaker 2 (18:45):
I didn't say you did you do?

Speaker 3 (18:48):
What are you found it here?

Speaker 2 (18:49):
Events of what that?

Speaker 3 (18:51):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (18:51):
You're a somewhat of a magician, But.

Speaker 1 (18:53):
What if I am.

Speaker 3 (18:54):
It's a hobby of mine. I'm just an amateur.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
Well, your amateur standing as a magician may solve a
semi professional murder. How nd if I use your phone
the right ahead for your calling the police for there
are three policemen downstairs, but I want the top man, Inspector.

(19:17):
This is Blackie. Blackie, you're gonna look, Inspector. Tell your
cops to come home. All is forgiven because I've not
only found out how Blaine was killed, I know who
killed him.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
I don't fall for the same gag fight flagging. You
turn yourself over to the nearest policeman or Mary stays
in jail for the rest of our life.

Speaker 2 (19:34):
In that case, I guess I'll just go downstairs where
right in Blaine's house, and your cops downstairs have got
me right where I want them. Come on up, Inspector.
The party's on me, all right, blacking here we all

(19:55):
are in Blaine's bedroom.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
I no tricks. I'm not the only one with a gun.
Even crab drumlins do that, rawlins I'll keep you busy.
If you have anything to say before I run you in,
say it not lacking? Will you listen for some dumb
reason or other I always do, But no tricks.

Speaker 2 (20:12):
Oh sorry, Inspector, but this time there has to be
a trick, a magic track.

Speaker 1 (20:17):
Huh.

Speaker 2 (20:18):
See this little gadget I have here in my hands?

Speaker 1 (20:21):
Yeah, what is it?

Speaker 2 (20:22):
A paine of what seems to be ordinarily played glass
in a wooden frame. If the glass is solid, isn't it?

Speaker 1 (20:28):
Sure?

Speaker 3 (20:28):
It is?

Speaker 1 (20:29):
So? What?

Speaker 2 (20:29):
So I placed this metal ball on top of the glass, gus, Yeah,
Now you don't think it's possible for the metal ball
to pull through the glass and hit the top of
the table below, do you?

Speaker 1 (20:39):
Of course not?

Speaker 2 (20:40):
You are so wrong, Inspector. What hey, it did go
right through the glass without breaking inspector a course, if
you wish to inspect. But how did you do it?
I pressed on the side of the wooden train and
the glass moved to one side fall not for the
metal ball to drop through.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
Look at this, yeah, I saw.

Speaker 2 (21:06):
Give the windows in this room another going over and
you'll find a paine of glass constructed to do exactly
the same thing.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
Rolin Smith. Start looking, So that's how it was done.
A trick pane of glass. Huh?

Speaker 2 (21:18):
You catch you on quick, Paraday? Where'd you get that
trick in John Blaine's room?

Speaker 1 (21:22):
Yes, in my room, But that doesn't mean anything, does
And then I don't know about that. If we find
out of glass in the winter, that's just like the
glass that gadget, So it doesn't mean anything. Huh. All right,
I admit that magic belongs to me. It wasn't my role,
but that's no proof I killed Uncle Bill.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
Well maybe this is black. Where'd you get that gun
John Blaine's room? And if you check, I think you'll
find this the gun that killed Uncle Bill.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
Okay, come on, you've done a headquarter?

Speaker 2 (21:48):
No no, no, no, wait a minute, inspect it?

Speaker 1 (21:50):
What for I've got this taste wrapped up and pink
and blue ribbon.

Speaker 2 (21:52):
Better outside the ends at Paraday because John didn't kill
his uncle.

Speaker 1 (21:56):
Look, when you face the evidence, you got a can
and can do.

Speaker 2 (21:59):
And about face, there's the little item of the telephone calls.
Blaine got a call from the murderer when John and
Martha and Robert were all in the house. John didn't
make that.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
Call, m but I know who did, well, I know
who didn't. No member of the family. Those were outside calls.
There's only one phone.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
When you jump to conclusions like that, inspected trying not
to land in your head. The one thing that had
me baffled about this whole thing was if one of
the family killed the uncle, how is that telephone they'd
ring while all the family.

Speaker 1 (22:31):
Were in the house, an accomplished.

Speaker 2 (22:34):
Outside Yes, I thought of that ruled without us too risky.
Some information about John, Robert and Martha Blaine surely got
for me. Gave me the right answer. Yeah, Martha Blaine,
is your killing h Why.

Speaker 4 (22:48):
Mister Jones, here's no dashing, OK.

Speaker 1 (22:51):
Is this gonna be another fairy story?

Speaker 2 (22:53):
You worked for the telephone company for several years, didn't
your mother so what when telephone linemen repair out of
order phone, they dial a certain number that causes the
telephone to ring.

Speaker 3 (23:03):
Well, that general knowledge. Everyone in this room.

Speaker 2 (23:06):
Knows that, but the number of the linemen dial is
a closely guarded secret. You are the only one in
this room who could possibly know that number. Right, that's it.
I anytime you wished, you could just go to one
of the several extension phones in this house, dial the
callback number and cause every phone in the house to ring.

Speaker 1 (23:28):
Okay, lady, you're going down a headquarter, grab a voice. Okay, okay,
take her out.

Speaker 2 (23:41):
Are you happy now, Inspector?

Speaker 1 (23:42):
Yeah, but you're not gonna be You're not completely out
of this. Did you tell me where you were at
the time of the.

Speaker 2 (23:47):
Murder cracking Sam Daniels safe.

Speaker 1 (23:49):
That's not so because I checked on that and Daniel
said his safe hadn't been touched.

Speaker 2 (23:53):
Then why did you put Mary in jail? She told
me she helped you crack the safe. I had to
hold her paraday. Okay, holding Mary is my exclusive privilege.
Let's go get her out. Are you a jail bird?

Speaker 4 (24:16):
Black he ah, black hair?

Speaker 3 (24:18):
You all right?

Speaker 2 (24:19):
Sure? And now I'm letting you out where did you
get those twos on Friday? But how don't worry any
He gave them.

Speaker 4 (24:30):
To me, honestly, of course, my home, what cluty yours?

Speaker 2 (24:36):
Aren't you coming out?

Speaker 1 (24:37):
Oh?

Speaker 4 (24:38):
Still coming in?

Speaker 2 (24:40):
But why alright here I am? Are you by any
chance locking us in?

Speaker 4 (24:49):
I am gonna keep Why give them to me?

Speaker 2 (24:53):
Okay? Here are Oh?

Speaker 1 (24:58):
This is much better.

Speaker 4 (25:00):
Oh, I know we can't get into trouble.

Speaker 2 (25:02):
Well, why
