so that Blackie will give it to the police. But

Mary tells Blackie she doesn't have the necklace. Later, when
Inspector Faraday comes to Mary's to get it, she tells
the inspector was just stolen from her, but Faraday finds
one of the diamonds and Mary's apartment and arrests her.

Mary tells Blackie she doesn't have the necklace. Later, when
Inspector Faraday comes to Mary's to get it, she tells
the inspector was just stolen from her, but Faraday finds
one of the diamonds and Mary's apartment and arrests her.

We didn't change our minds. We platted that necklace and

it to the police, and the police had give it
back to the owner. And that's exactly where we wanted it,
only we didn't want to take it back.

the trouble I did if you and your brother hadn't
been such fools and try to return it.
Speaker 5 (21:45):
You paid us to steal a necklace worth fifty thousand dollars.
But the necklace we stole was a phony, and you
know it. You crossed us up. We didn't want any
part of it.
Speaker 1 (21:52):
Well, what are you gonna do about it?
Speaker 5 (21:54):

Go to the police and tell him you stole it?
Speaker 5 (21:56):
No, but I could call and tell him you hired
somebody to steal it and it was a phony, and
that you stole it from miss Wesley so the insurance
company wouldn't find out. I wasn't real.

You get fifty thousand from the insurance company if they
don't find out what you've done, don't you?

dollars insurance on it and placing him under arrest.

I just figured this whole thing out.

What are you laughing at my own stupidity? Faraday? I
thought I figured it out.
Speaker 7 (22:49):
So once again, Inspector Faraday claims that he figured it
all out.
Speaker 5 (22:52):
I'm black, yes, Mary, but even I was wrong in
one respect you Uh huh. I thought Otis had hit
in the real necklace. Actually he'd broken it up and
sold at a stone at a time over a period
of years.
Speaker 8 (23:02):
Oh, I see, and his wife had been wearing a
paste coffee for a long time.
Speaker 1 (23:05):
Uh huh.
Speaker 5 (23:06):
Too bad. Otis neglected to tell the Reese brothers they
were going to steal a phony necklace. When they discovered
it wasn't real, they thought Otis was double crossing him.
That's why they decided to turn it over to the
police through us so they wouldn't be involved.
Speaker 7 (23:19):
I understand you did quite a job imitating Harry Reese's voice, Blackie.
Speaker 5 (23:22):
I'm adequate, my dear, just adequate. Do you know what
I was just thinking?

What I was just thinking that because mister otis fooled
