Compadece-te de mim, ó Deus, segundo a tua benignidade; e, segundo a multidão das tuas misericórdias, apaga as minhas transgressões. (Salmo 51.1)
Três vezes: “Compadece-te”, “segundo a tua benignidade”, e “segundo a multidão das tuas misericórdias”.
Isso é o que Deus prometeu em Êxodo 34.6-7:
“E, passando o SENHOR por diante dele, clamou: SENHOR, SENHOR Deus compassivo, clemente e longânimo e grande em misericórdia e fidelidade; que guarda a misericórdia em mil gerações, que perdoa a iniquidade, a transgressão e o pecado, ainda que não inocenta o culpado”.
Davi sabia que havia culpados que não seriam perdoados. E havia culpados que por alguma misteriosa obra de redenção não seriam considerados culpados, mas seriam perdoados. O Salmo 51 é o seu modo de se apossar do mistério da misericórdia.
Nós conhecemos mais sobre o mistério desta redenção do que Davi. Conhecemos a Cristo. Porém, nos apossamos da misericórdia da mesma forma que ele o fez.
A primeira coisa que ele faz é se voltar como miserável para a misericórdia e o amor de Deus. Hoje, isso significa se voltar como miserável a Cristo.
