Speaker 1 (00:07):
Well, hey, there are folks chuck here, and I just
got a bag of goodies form my brother Justin. You
know him as the designer here at die Cast Media
Network and die Cast Breakdown, and you can see what
he got me because I picked these out. But these
have been like months ago that I got these, so
I don't remember what's all in here, so I thought
(00:27):
i'd go through with them and do a quick announcement
while we do it, so we got something fun to
look at. So first of all, thank you patrons who
make this show and everything else here go. We're incredibly
grateful to you and you know for believing in us
and keeping this project going as long as it has gone,
(00:48):
and it will keep going. Don't worry. We're not jumping
off for anything, but just want to let you know
why there isn't a show today and what to look
forward to in the future. So let's think Justin sent
me some good ease here. That's very cool. Anyway, the
show has been going well. We've been really appreciative of
(01:10):
the support and the growth that we've had so far.
David Mark and I have been working very hard on
this thing and love are these stickers in a Coaster.
I'm justin. But by the way, you can check out
Justin's work over at diecast medianetwork dot com and click
the merch button and go check that out. But you know,
(01:33):
David's been working incredibly hard at getting guests booked and
getting people out involved and excited, and Pia and Mark
and Derek have all been really helpful with keeping things rolling.
And as you know, my life is kind of taking
a weird turn over the last year and I'm still
(01:54):
getting the pieces of my life back together, so probably
gonna have to be moving again here in November. So
long story short, we're going to be taking the show
in a little bit different of a direction. We're going
to be doing every other week in hr opin that's
(02:15):
cool posts, So every other week we'll be posting stuff,
and we hate to do that, but you know, David
and I especially have been really burnt out, and Mark
has been really busy with his business. So we're looking
at moving to every other week for the time being
(02:35):
so we can put out a show that we're proud of.
You know, most of the time I'm editing the episodes
right up until a few minutes before they go live,
so that's why there's not a lot of time promoting
them because we're you know, both David and I are
really busy with our lives and getting things ready to go,
(02:56):
and Mark has been super busy with his show and
with the new baby, and he and Kimber. We still
love that they're as involved as they are because we
know that they're incredibly, incredibly busy owning their own business.
You never really get a second off, so anytime that
they can share with us is appreciated. But anyway, so
(03:18):
we're moving to every other week. David and I are
going to start a supplemental show that will be available
for patrons only, and it's just going to be a
short show of David and I talking about what's going
on in the world, doing little reviews of stuff we've
found that we are excited about. So you know, if
you're a patron or you're a member, it'll show up
(03:39):
in the member feed on YouTube, and it will show
up on the Patreon feed in Patreon. That's the word. Anyway,
It's something that we're going to do over the summer
at least, well I figure out things with my job situation,
with my living situation, and we're we're slowing down. We're
(04:04):
not stopping, we don't ever plan to stop, but we
do need to slow a little so we can regroup
and put out something that we're proud of. We have
been proud of the show. We think it could be better.
And in fact, I'm doing this on a brand new
computer that I bought, you know last year, thank you
(04:26):
text right off that I bought to do all sorts
of new stuff for the channel and have not had
a chance to do any of that yet. And here
we are in May, and I've turned this computer on
maybe three times since buying it, so you know, that's
just a glimpse into, you know, where we're at. So
one of the things that I'd like to talk to
(04:46):
you about is we are looking for people who would
be interested in helping with this project. We've mentioned this
several times on the show before, but you know, if
you're you know, interested in the podcast or helping add
content to the channel, whether it's your own unique thing,
or if it's helping us record or edit episodes of
(05:10):
the podcast, we'd love to talk to you. You know,
as we joke, we can't pay you, but we won't
charge you like we charge ourselves. You know, we're we're
all actively paying into this project because we love it
and we love hanging out with you and talking with
people who are doing really cool stuff in the hobby,
(05:31):
and that's the reason why we keep doing this. And
you know, Mark and David and Pia and Derek are
all patrons of the channel and I you know, invest
in all of the different software and subscriptions that are
needed to keep the show hosted and rolling, and you know,
(05:52):
the patronage covers a decent portrait of that. I'm still
actively investing in stuff for the channel. So anyway, that's uh,
that's that's where we're at. But anyway, I just wanted
to say thank you to everyone who's been with us
so far, and we look forward to continuing on and
(06:15):
doing really cool stuff. There's a lot of really cool
projects in the fire that I can't talk about just yet,
so you know, make sure you're you're following along for
the cool stuff that we've got going on there. And
if you have any questions, please leave them in the comments.
Shoot us an email at diecasts Breakdown at gmail dot
com or Docast Media Network at gmail dot com. But
(06:36):
Doucas Breakdown at gmail dot com is checked a little
more often, and you know, talk to us about the show,
talk to us about you know, what you would like
to see, what you would like to do, if you
would like to help. Pia is one of those people
that volunteered and he does all our community posts, photo
posts on the YouTube community, and he's been great at,
(06:58):
you know, dropping stuff as it comes out, and he
does a lot of work with Derek Overdoni's die Cast,
who has been a real champion of the show too.
We're incredibly grateful to his support and to the other
folks who have shouted us out, like die Cast dude,
we love him. We love that he pops in and
gives us a shout out whenever he can, and people
(07:20):
like Lewis Tanahara who have really you know, stepped up,
and you know, it's amazing having somebody that is so
tied to die cast culture as Lewis helping us out
and you know with cartooned and giving us inside scoops
on things and giving us stuff to show on the
channel for y'all before it comes out. Really grateful to
(07:42):
him and the other amazing guests that we've had on
and the other people who show up and really help
keep this thing going. So thank you for that. So
all right, without any further ado, I'm gonna start showing
some of these things here. So if you're on the
audio feed, this may get a little boring, but you
(08:03):
can hop over to YouTube and check it out, or
you know, you can catch us next week on a
future episode. We got a lot of really great guests
coming up. We got people from Hot Wheels, we got
people from another big brand that we'll talk about in
a little bit that's coming out, and we got some
other really cool exclusive stuff coming your way. So you know,
(08:25):
thank you again, patrons, viewers, people who show up and
just say hi, We're really grateful for you and we're
excited for what's ahead. So all right, let's see what
do we got here. We got, first of all, we
got a Dale Earnhardt nineteen ninety three premiere Edition, The Intimidator.
I'm not really a NASCAR collector, but this thing is
(08:46):
very cool, and you know, I do love the old
number three. I do it for Dale, and so should you.
Let's see what else we got. We got some mainlines here,
got the nineteen eighty three Ford Fiesta Mark two. I
love this casting, new casting from Matchbox. Very cool. Love
(09:06):
Malaise era. I love subcombacks. We got another one because
I'm a customizer, so I have three four. Okay, as
Justin clearly knows, I need some backup cars for my customs,
and hopefully I'll be back to doing those again. Oh
five is another one and soon. I just love that casting,
(09:28):
and so Justin has definitely hooked me up with those.
Let's see what else we got. We got Oh, this
is a cool one. I like this one. This is
the Nissan Sylvia S fourteen drift. I just love cars
with missing body panels, and this one's missing the whole
front clip. And I just love that casting. Love the
teal and orange. It's my As a Gator fan, you
(09:52):
gotta love orange and blue. And as a Perry of
the Platypus fan, you gotta love teal and orange. And
you know, add some brown in there, and you got
brown and deal in orange. All right, love that great casting.
We get some fancy cars in the mix. Here, look
at this, you know, sixty four Toyota two thousand GT.
(10:16):
That's pretty. That's a good looking car. And tarmac works,
Volvo eight fifty Estate Wagon that's a real cool casting
as well. Let's got the little tiny antenna on top.
I'm afraid to take that out of the box because
I know that's going to get snapped off, but you
(10:36):
know me, I got to open them all. So both
of those are really really cool. I've got some wall displays.
I'm finally able to show off my collection in something
a little bit more than just an old jewelry display case.
And I'll show those in a little bit here. But
(10:56):
look at that. Love this eighty five portion nine eleven rally.
It's a main line, but this is a great gas
Lands or weathered build. Here a customizer. Love that casting.
Oh here's another great one from Tarmac Works, Lancia Delta
hf intigal. Nice jeweled lamps there that David loves. But
(11:23):
gotta love this is a hamuligation version, non race street
legal version that they would have made so they could
race the rally versions, and God help anybody who actually
tried to daily drive something like that. All right, let's
see what else we got. I got an AutoWorld two
pack that's fun. That is not a red chase, but
(11:47):
that is very cool fast. So these are the Deluxe
series from Auto World, which you may or may not know.
These feature I believe plastic bases, yes, plastic, and plastic wheels,
so they're not as premium as your regular ones. But
you can get two vehicles in this case of Viper
(12:08):
and a Corvette for a pretty reasonable cost compared to
just one fancy Auto World, and they still look really
really good, and they're just a short wheel swap away
from being fantastic. So those are great castings to have.
What else we got a Bodies, Pugs three forty and
(12:30):
Pontiac Gto. I would prefer Mo Party Bodies as I
own one, but these are still great. Love the Gto
Tiger livery on here, and I still think Buick is
incredibly inderrated in the muscle car era. Hey another one
of these. This is what happens when you say get
as many of these as you can and your brother
(12:50):
takes you literally and you don't think, oh, well, maybe
one or tooble shop. But he did exactly as I
asked for, So thank you for that. Another great deluxe set.
This is the ninety one in ninety six Camaro and Firebird.
Love this casting from AutoWorld. The Camaro third Gin from
(13:11):
AutoWorld is one of the best representations I've seen of
eighties era American you know, muscle if you want to
call it that out there, it's just a gorgeous casting,
very well proportioned. Love that casting so much. The Firebird
one is also great. Also, love that it is a
firebird and not a trans am, so it's got that
(13:31):
smooth hood on it. You know, you'll love the big
storkelhood on the big guy too. And oh yes, I
forgot he got this for me. So nice to finally
have one of these. And yeah, they're not one to
sixty four scale or two one sixty four or even
close to true one sixty four. In fact, they're closer
to ho scale than anything else. But I don't care,
(13:55):
and it's all mind over matter. If you don't mind,
it don't matter. Really want to get a hold of
that Volvo Drift Camper. Haven't seen that one in person yet.
I imagine that one's going to be continuously a difficult
one to find. But a semi Roger Dodger, I haven't
seen that casting yet. That's cool, But anyway, love this
(14:16):
as a recovering Transformers addict. It's nice to see two
of my interests brought together. Oh, this is just a
really nice mainline. This is the Matchbox Mercedes Benz two
thirty sl very nice casting. Match Box continuing to impress
with their main lines, keeping things simple but at the
same time going really hard on things like the headlights
(14:38):
and tail lamps being really well detailed, and that grill
looking really good. And it doesn't really need a lot
of side details on this. You hit that little door
handle with a silver sharpie and then maybe do a
little line on that trim and you know, red amber
dots and you're good. You'd have a really clean looking casting.
Very little needed to be a really nice shelf piece.
(15:03):
This is played as is why not? Ah, yes, the
Bumblebee to go with my Optimus Prime here. It is
a little bit of a cop out that they use
an existing casting, but I love the Easter egg that
there's Bumblebee's head on the bottom of this thing, so
it is in fact a unique casting because of that.
(15:24):
And this is the gold version with the black Autobots logo.
I believe he got ah, yes, here it is. This
is the one I'm really excited about. The yellow version
with the red Autobots logo, much more true to the
cartoon into most of the figures. There's been a few
new studio versions and classic versions of Bumblebee. They've come
(15:46):
out lately. They've been really good that look like the cartoon,
one that wasn't quite a VW Beetle, and then one
that really looks like a VW Super Beetle. There's another one,
so that's really cool. Oh, this is a great one.
M two really knocked it out of the park with
this regel. I love it, and I've got it in
several different colors. I got in light blue, I got
(16:07):
it in white. But having it be just the Regal
and not even like the T type or the Grand National.
So it's got that smooth hood and you've got that
much more simplified exterior. You've got the classy vertical grill on.
It feels much more like a car that you would
(16:27):
see on the road. And you've got your jeweled headlamps
and tail lamps. And you know, these look really really good.
And I've not seen any quality control issues with any
of the Regals that I've run into. Oh, this is
a great casting from green Light. This is the sixty
six Thunderbird from Filmot and Louise it's just a great casting,
(16:48):
really well done. Love that they have a version with
the top up and the top down, so I've got
the top down version, so now I have the top
up version and Mike casting that I can't get enough
of the speed bump a few of those, because these
are just, you know, perfect diorama podder. I know a
lot of people don't like them, and I think that's
(17:09):
just that a lot of people don't get them. It's
like the Cruisin Bruiser and everyone who thinks that's a gasser,
it is not a gaser. It's a demolition derby station wagon.
It's called the Bruiser. It's got an anchor in the
back of it. It's not a gasser. You would not
put an anchor in a gasser. But anyway, I concede
the point. It did end up in a gaser series,
I know that much. But it's not a gasser. Just
(17:32):
look at it anyway. Well, what else we got, well,
Hot Wheels, the nineties ninety two Ford Mustang, great casting,
great mainline casting, and it's got front details and side details,
no rare details, but still very nice casting. Oh this
(17:53):
is a great one. Older casting. Johnny Lightning's Mustang to
Cobra two casting the great white and blue delivery on there. Well,
this is a really nice one too, the seventy three
BMW three point zero. Great new casting from them. Love
(18:16):
the kind of matt finish on this paint job. I
did a comparison once with the Hot Wheels Sortion and
I definitely prefer the Matchbox sortion. And yeah, by the way,
I love these containers. By the way, I know a
lot of people don't like them, but I haven't really
seen any significant issues with them, and feels a lot
(18:38):
better than throwing away a ton of plastic like I'm
about to do at the end of this video. The
brick in mortar motor. This is the bone Shaker, but
not in the block version. I think these are really clever.
They're fun to play with with my kids, so I
like them. Another great casting for Matchbox and They're Moving
(18:59):
part series sixty five Volkswaging a Pastac. I wanted to
drive in a sixty five Beetle and somehow survived to
tell the tale. Fun casting from the Fast and Furious Movies.
Toyota A eighty six. Love that one, and uh see
(19:20):
this is a matchbox. It's called power grabs, speed grabs
in the little boxes. So I think this is really
clever too. Morris Minor Saloon. Great way to keep the
packaging to a minimum, keep the storage to a maximum,
and get really cool stuff. Seventy Dodge charger tuned version
from Hot Wheels. This is Dom's charger from Fast and Furious.
(19:43):
So it did a movie car which I dig, and
we got the mouths to ARCS three tuned as well.
These are these are fun. You know, they're not cartooned,
but they're not supposed to be cartooned. They're considerably cheaper
and I like them for what they are. Eighty four
Audias Sport Quadra. Love delivery on this one. Love these eighties.
(20:07):
The eighties series that they've done has had some really
great tampos on them. Love that series. Love the nineties series.
This one's really fun. The Birthday Burner got to see
this one unveiled at the twenty twenty four Hot Wheels
Collector Nationals, and I love that the grill is a
bite taking out of the cake. I think it's a
(20:28):
very clever design. I think there's some Easter eggs on
the inside of it, and you know, so it's one
that's you know, for giggles. It's fun. It's one that
I'll play with my kids with. Sixty four Chevelle that's
a great casting. Big fan of that one. The Flippin'
Fast Let's see this is a double sided race car,
(20:52):
which I think is very fun because it's two different
designs top and bottom. Very much reminds me of There
was a series by Lionel and I can't remember the
name them, but they were die cast cars are roughly
one sixty four scale that did the same thing. They
didn't have the faces that the helmet that flipped around,
but they had a little piece in the middle that
(21:12):
the center trunk of the car would pop up and
there'd be like a police car on one side and
a hot rod on the other, Formula one car on
one side and a dessert racer on the other. And
it's a very fun series. And you can get them at
the Dollar Tree back when it was, you know, still
a dollar West Coast Flier. It's a fun one to train.
(21:38):
Jeep Avenger, that's fun. I definitely don't have that casting.
We're asking for that casting, but glad I have it.
The most dash I have used it. It does actually
kind of work a little bit as a come. Not really,
it's you know, it's supposed to be a prop. I
get it and it's fun. And I've seen people who
(21:59):
have saw out the teeth on it, so it can
actually be used as a comb. But even without it,
there's enough indentation in there that I've used it as
a mustache comb and it's fun. Hope we got some
Lucy's in here. Let's see what we got. We got
this would be This is a green light. This is
(22:22):
the taxi cab from the show Taxi. It's missing its top.
So Justin picks up these for me to use as
you know, kind of custom plodder. I've been meaning to
do another. Junkyard crushed the car lineup, and the premiums
really look great on those because they've got really detailed
(22:43):
fronts and rear ends on them. This is a great
one from Hot Wheels. Toyota Van. I can't remember what, Yeah,
Toyota Van. I've been in the market for a minivan lately,
and I keep going back to those and going, Nope,
you need to get one that's practical. You need to
get one that will be a good daily driver. And
(23:04):
I'm like, but they're toyotas and they've been digital run
forever and you have enough projects, it would be a project.
This is the Jeep J ten. This is a very
nice version of the JEP D ten. Great livery get
the orange the hot wheels on it. And there's one
for David. This would be I think this is the
old Johnny Lightning. Yeah, Johnny Lightning Pete cruiser casting, so
(23:25):
this one's definitely seen better days, but you know, so
most Pete cruisers at this point. That's still fun. Let's
get the little wood grain on it. I hate that
because of David. I've got so many PT cruisers now
because I can't stop buying them because they can think
of them out. There's a little taxi logout, so I'm like,
(23:47):
sure this gets stuck back on there so it doesn't
get lost. So that's fun. I love the green light
checker casting. It's a great one. And uh, let's see,
oh that's a vintage one for sure, gold wheels. This
(24:09):
is the science friction. So there was another version of
this that didn't have the UH radar on it, and
this part and I can't remember what it's called, but uh,
I had that one in a gold and it was
Uh it had like the Ultra Hots wheels on it.
But yeah, fun fun Uh fantasy casting one of my
favorites as a kid. Uh So those ones always give
(24:32):
me a nice wave of nostalgia. This is an old
Husky Ford Thunderbird. That's fun. It's definitely smaller than one
sixty four scale, but uh still fun. I like these
old uh, these older castings. It's amazing to see how
far we've gone in a few decades. Uh. Here's an
Ultra Hots. This is the wind splitter, but very clearly
(24:55):
a BMW M one. Uh. I always thought that this
thing opened and it doesn't. But it's just the way
it was installed. But really great Larry Wood design. Very
much love that it's a stylized M one. Just one
that I'm always happy to see. Jungle Adventure tours from Matchbox,
(25:20):
Land Rover, great casting. These are great donor bumpers for
gas Lands builds because this casting shows up a lot,
so it's a great donor vehicle. It's got a good
interior pull from two nice steering wheel. Original Diura so
this is a RePOP of the Redline Diura. So you
(25:44):
can tell it's not real because real vantage because it
says hot Wheels Vintage on the bottom of it. So
the non vintage ones also don't have suspensions, they just
have solid axles. But the casting is essentially the same
as the original Diora, at least on the top, because
I've used the glass out of the newer one to
rebuild an old one, so they do essentially have the
(26:07):
same shape. It's just a modified version of the casting,
but the chassis is definitely completely different. And I'm sure
there are some purists that will correct me in the comments.
Oh this is a great one. This is one of
the you know, back when, back when the Hot Eel
or back when the Happy Meals had really great prizes.
(26:28):
As a pullback vehicle here, I always dug this one.
Not really sure why, but you know, it kind of
harkens back to my love of the cartooned vehicles and
the tuned stuff. This is a very fun series, and
the Big Mac police car was always my favorite of it,
so it's nice to have that in my collection again.
(26:49):
So let's see. I think that's everything pretty much. But yeah,
so that's that's where we're at. We're going to every
other week for now, with some occasional Patreon only and
remember only videos with David and me, and you know,
if you're interested in helping, please let us know and
(27:10):
stick around because there's a lot of really great stuff
ahead on the horizon for us, and I'm hoping that
things will come down a bit with my work and
that I'll find a more permanent place to stay and
get set up. But as always, I want to thank
you for coming along with us for the ride. So
until next time, stay fresh, cheese bags,
