اما هنوز منوچهر رضایت نداده بود و سام سر خود این اجازه رو داد! از اون طرف، زال با نامه‌ی سام رفت پیش منوچهر که تأیید نهایی رو بگیره، ولی دید که منوچهر اصلاً با این قضیه اوکی نیست.
البته منوچهر نمی‌خواست مستقیماً دست رد به سینه‌ی زال بزنه، پس از ستاره‌شناس‌ها و موبدها خواست که بررسی کنن و جواب منفی بدن! اما برعکس، ستاره‌شناس‌ها گفتند که فرزند زال و رودابه یه پهلوانی میشه که نظیرش در جهان نیست!
منوچهر که از این پیش‌بینی خوشش اومده بود، گفت: «خب، حالا که این‌طور شد، یه امتحان از زال بگیرید، ببینیم یهو خنگ نباشه که پس‌فردا این بچه‌ی خرزورَش رو بفرسته توی سپاه دشمن!»
و حالا امتحان شروع شده...!
