Speaker 1 (00:01):
Dumb in the Morning with Melissa Moore, the podcast on
Cool one oh five.
Speaker 2 (00:08):
There's a story that's out now. The main thrust of
this article was about people lying about their age, and
especially when it comes like online dating and stuff like that.
That's all right, that's that's whatever. But the part that
caught my eye was this story. It's about halfway down
and they're talking about the number of people, Melissa, who
are using very old photos for their profile pictures, and
(00:34):
something like one in five are using images that are
more than ten years old. Wow, and that's kind of
a Now, let me say something about that, Like, first
of all, how old is your profile picture on most
of your social media accounts?
Speaker 3 (00:50):
It's probably within the last year. How long have I
had it up there? Or how old is the actual
picture itself? How old is the actual picture within let's see,
probably last two years because I put it up there
with my dog that passed away, so it was a
good picture of us. So yeah, probably in the past
two years.
Speaker 2 (01:08):
Uh, mine is three years old. Now, Okay, here's a
funny thing. I once got accused by a cohor They're like, oh,
you just got that old photo. You don't when people
think you're getting older.
Speaker 3 (01:19):
Blah blah blah.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
I said, you totally misunderstand my friend. It has nothing
to do with that. It has to do with I
don't give a rip about it. And so I'm not
one of those people who's like, I have a friend
of mine who at least and I'm not exaggerating, at
least three or four times every week changes their profile
(01:40):
picture m and I'm like, I can't be bothered to do.
I so don't care about it. But I did have
a photo on there, I would say for probably seven
or eight years.
Speaker 3 (01:53):
It was the same one.
Speaker 2 (01:54):
It was just the same photos like that looks sort
of like me, I don't care.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
What do I care?
Speaker 2 (02:00):
But you're like, well, you're just trying to let her
one thing you're younger. I'm like, I des.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
Well, You're like, I don't because I don't care, Because
I don't care. Yeah, I was into anybody that knows,
you know, social media wise, you're kind of in the
don't care camp. Yeah, where I want my figure. My
picture is really about my dog. I was just looking
to see what profile picture I have up there, and
and it was because it's such a great picture of
(02:27):
my dog, and you really only see half my head
because I'm kissing his head, so my eyes in my
forehead haven't aged that much in probably the two years since.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
I took it.
Speaker 3 (02:39):
I'm like, it looks like me, But I mean I
wanted to look current. I don't want people to be like,
when was that taken?
Speaker 2 (02:47):
But yet?
Speaker 3 (02:49):
Yeah, because if you have like a glamour shot up
or something like that, then then it's time to take
it down. You need to put a somewhat realistic picture up.
Speaker 2 (02:57):
I think I have. I have one friend who has
had the same profile picture since they signed on to Facebook,
and it was probably two thousand and eight, no you
new thousand and nine, and they have not changed the photo.
And I know it's because they also just do not care.
Do they see that?
Speaker 3 (03:15):
That's where you need to get something a little more currently. Yeah, yeah, you.
Speaker 2 (03:19):
Got to draw a line at seventeen years in the
world eight.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
I think it needs to be within the last five.
That's what I would say.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
Anyway, just for thought, we was making us chuckle, so
we thought we.
