Speaker 1 (00:01):
To him in the morning with Melissa Moore the podcast
on Cool one oh.

Speaker 2 (00:05):
Five, Melissa had something really interesting you would do almost
like a magical mystery tour where you were going to
take your husband Tim on a special little trip and
you were going to tell him about it. But did
you end up telling him before you went?

Speaker 3 (00:21):
Yeah, because I wanted him to be able to pack.
He didn't know where we were going. So he had
a birthday on Sunday, and I wanted to do something
special for this birthday, and so I told him. I said, look,
I'm going to plan a trip and I'm not going
to tell you where, but I will let you know
as we get closer, whether or not we're taking an
airplane or not, whether or not what you need to pack.

(00:41):
Because he didn't know where we were going. And so
it was fun because finally we you know, we do
our Wednesday date nights. We had our date night, and
I had been giving him clues and he's like, I
don't know, and finally I said, all right, here's where
we're going. We're going to Tallas, New Mexico. We'd never
been there, and it was beautiful. It was absolutely beautiful.

(01:03):
I will say there are a lot of lot older
people there.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Oh, I was surprised.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
I was surprised. I don't know if it's a time
of year we went, but it's a very artsy community,
which was really cool, great restaurants. We went to these
hot springs outside of town, probably about an hour outside
of town, and it was like this hot spring spa
wellness resort, and you could only whisper. You couldn't talk

(01:29):
in a normal voice at this whole place.

Speaker 2 (01:31):
It was a quiet spot.

Speaker 3 (01:33):
It was the whole thing. And so you know me,
as soon as you tell me I can't talk loud,
I just start giggling or something, and I'm like, that's right,
stop stop it, stop it, stop it. But it was awesome.
We just had a great time.

Speaker 2 (01:45):
Isn't it funny? Because I love New Mexico. The Santa
Fe is like my jam. I absolutely love Santa Fe yep, food,
the art, the vibe, the feel. Yeah, I mean it
really is different. And I have a hard time explaining
that to people. I don't even know why. I've only
driven through Taos a couple of times. I've never stayed there,
and isn't it kind of interesting? I don't want this

(02:07):
to come across wrong, because I mean I've got friends
who are from New Mexico. I'm not I just said
I love it, so obviously I'm not knocking it. But
isn't it kind of odd that we equate New Mexico
with art? I mean, it's kind of it's for whatever reason,
it just seems disjointed to me, and yet that's the

(02:28):
way it is. Oh, it's a very artsy area, very
I don't think. I mean, I think of it in
terms of you know, great food. I think of it
as you know, desert areas. I think of it as
you know, nuclear testing sites and all of that. But
then the fact that it's got such a thriving artist,
you know, economy is really really cool.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
I think, Yeah, I love it. I love the Native
American influence down there. I love just everything about it.
We stayed at this resort and it was like Native
American music playing, and it was just quiet and serene,
and it's only four and a half hours from Denver.
I mean it was I was like this, That's what
I love is the fact that you can leave Denver
and drive and do a weekend down there and it's

(03:14):
it's not outrageous, you know, as far as the drive
or anything else, and it's just it's got a cool
vibe to it, and it's also very low key. And
then the Hot Springs and when then we went and
took pictures on the Big Bridge, the Rio Grand Bridge,
and so we just we just did some fun touristy thing.
And I love the fact that living here in Colorado,
that we can drive to another state, explore like a

(03:36):
whole new culture, and then be back in a weekend
like that, to me is really cool that we can
do that living here.

Speaker 2 (03:42):
Yeah, I do have a tip for people who are
listening they're like, hey, maybe we should drive down there.
I mean, you definitely should. Whether it's Taos or Santa
Fe or whatever. You shouldn't drive down however, here's your tip.
From dom thirty miles north of Pueblo to thirty miles

(04:02):
south of Pueblo, don't go more than three to five
miles per hour over the speed limit. I'm telling you.
In that whole Pueblo area, they pull people over left
and right. So that's my little tip. As you're getting
closer checking your damer're like, oh, we're about thirty miles
out from Pueblo. Slow down, yeah, just take those sixty

(04:23):
miles and then you can speed back up again. But
they will nail you right around Pueblo.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
That's funny, obviously. Yeah, I was going to say, obviously
this has happened to you.

Speaker 2 (04:34):
Oh, yes, yes, And I was doing maybe and I
was doing like six miles over the speed limit. Maybe
like I was doing I think is sixty six and.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Sixty this normal six dom six is really twelve.

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Oh.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
I would tell you if you know me, I mean,
as soon as I got you know, as soon as
you get me on there, get up to like ten
twelve miles over the speed limit.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Everybody's flying.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
But in the Pueblo area they love to write some tickets.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Well that's the money they have coming in exactly.

Speaker 2 (05:09):
Oh.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
I stimulated their economy, that's for sure. And I will say,
you know, the people who pull you over as nice
as can be. Well, of course, they are just wonderful.
You know, they just know they're making their you know,
a lot meant for the month.

Speaker 3 (05:23):
Right right. They're like, we're so glad Tom's coming through
the state again.

Speaker 2 (05:26):
In fact, that is leave the officer told me.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
Is that, mister Testa. I want to thank you. We
hit our number today with you and we now have
a pizza party.

Speaker 3 (05:34):
Come in so free pizza for everybody in the fleet station.

Speaker 2 (05:40):
Anyway, So yes, drive to New Mexico because it's gorgeous.
I'm so glad. Did Tim have a great time, had.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
A great time. We just yeah, one of those birthdays
where it was just fun and beautiful. And yeah, you're
still in the West, but it's a little different looking.
It's kind of like a It's crazy how different it
is from Colorado.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Did you have some gluten free cake?

Speaker 3 (05:59):
No, are you gonna bring me down?

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Yeah, we're talking about Melissa's little vaca down to Taus,
New Mexico. H And I was talking about, you know,
the speed trap between around the Pueblo area and how
I got pulled over there and I was joking. I
said that Hey, they said by giving me the ticket,
they reached their quota and they were able to throw

(06:22):
a big pizza party. So Tommy from Aurora Road In
said he was delivering pizza two months ago, got into
a car wreck. He says, the cops ate the pizza
so smart. Well, you know, listen, if it's gonna go
to waste, I'm sure the pizza shop just sent out
another one while Tommy's there on the side of the road. Tommy,

(06:44):
so what are you gonna do? Just throw the pizza away.
Now feed the cops too.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
Now just lift that lid open and put it on
the hood of the car. Is it smoking? And let
everybody get a slice.

Speaker 2 (06:53):
Now, you said you had an observation about drivers in
New Mexico. What is this?

Speaker 3 (06:57):
Okay? So here's the one thing I think in Colorado.
You and I joked about it, but it is true.
So that speed trap around Pueblo, what is the kind
of car and driver you will not get see? You
will not see getting pulled over for speeding.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
Oh, in Colorado, it's a super run right, always they go.
They all go eight miles an hour under the speed line.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
Absolutely absolutely. If you're if you're slowing down and you're
in the left lane, you look ahead, what do you see?
You see a super Uo in Colorado. Here's what happens. Though,
as soon as we crossed into New Mexico. I don't
know what happened, but the Supero drivers, the fastest and
the craziest drivers we saw.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
It's like Bizarro world, the Bizarrow world.

Speaker 3 (07:37):
Everything switched and they all they had the same hippie
you know, all all the stickers on the back of
the car. I mean, they looked like our Colorado Subaru drivers,
but yet they were the ones passing you. And my
husband and Tim and I were driving and we're just
you know, we're driving our Chevy and we're like la
la la la, and all of a sudden, this car,

(07:59):
like bat out of hell comes flying. I go, good lord,
we just got passed by a super U.

Speaker 1 (08:04):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
That never happened.

Speaker 3 (08:06):
What happened? And then it happened, and then it kept happening,
and I it wasn't like one Supero driver all over
talls just losing their mind. Lots of super rus, but
they all go fast. In New Mexico.

Speaker 2 (08:18):
You know, you know you're in bizarro world when a
super wo goes by so fast you can't read the
Coexist sticker on the back.

Speaker 3 (08:26):
Right, that's pretty funny. And I love the super Woos.
Let me just get that. I want to make sure
I put on.

Speaker 4 (08:39):
I will tell Supero drivers in Colorado it's you don't
have to go that slow.

Speaker 2 (08:43):
Speed up a little bit. Let's just keep up with
the traffic around you.

Speaker 3 (08:48):
Please try.
