Speaker 1 (00:01):
Dumb in the Morning with Melissa Moore, the podcast on
Cool one oh five.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
This for a story might be more dorky than nerdy, Okay,
because the whole thing about aliens, to me, that's not
a nerd thing.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
That's more of a dork thing. Would you agree with
that people who.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
Are like big on the whole aliens are coming kind
of thing.

Speaker 4 (00:22):
I don't know. No, I don't know. It all falls
in the same category to me.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
We talked a week or two ago about this interstellar
object that's flying through our Solar system from outside.

Speaker 4 (00:33):
Hey, I love this stuff.

Speaker 2 (00:34):
Chances are it's probably a comet. But now an astronomer
at Harvard says it's too strange, and he thinks that
there's a really good chance that it is quote.

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Not natural, meaning aliens. Little green men.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
Yes, that's I hope they look like the image I've
had of them since I was a kid.

Speaker 3 (00:53):
What is your image?

Speaker 4 (00:54):
The giant green head with the two giant black eyes
and like.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
A r How did they go middle? He says.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
If they do show up, it'll be some time between
November twenty first and December fifth, So mark your calendar, Chris.

Speaker 4 (01:12):
They're coming for Christmas.

Speaker 2 (01:13):
Be here for sure on Thanksgiving, my gush set an
extra place at your table.

Speaker 4 (01:19):
I hope they like stuffing.

Speaker 2 (01:21):
Speaking of space, we're going up to the Moon. NASA
is now hurrying up their plans to build a nuclear
reactor on the Moon. You were just telling me the
other day that they want to put a nuclear reactor
out at DA Right.

Speaker 4 (01:33):
Yeah, they're looking at it for reals.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
So I guess we're now in, then, yet another space race.
Like we used to be against the Soviets. Now we're
in a race against China to see who can get
the first Moon base built.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
Okay, so not to say a dumb question, but I'm
going to say it anyway because it's Friday and I'm tired.
But do we really can we own the Moon and
do stuff like that? I mean it.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
There supposedly was a treaty that was signed many years
ago that no one country would have ownership of the Moon.
But I would think you'd be able to stake out
like your territory, like build a city.

Speaker 3 (02:05):
No no, no.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
No, you shouldn't be able to say we're going to
do that to the Moon. We've already ruined our planet.

Speaker 3 (02:11):
What are we doing?

Speaker 2 (02:13):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (02:13):
Just wait, once we start colonizing other worlds, it's going
to get even uglier than it is now. Uh.

Speaker 2 (02:19):
Then, the last two that I've got for you. One
is if you're sick and tired of cleaning the windows
and mirrors in your in.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
Your house, Yeah, I'm cleaning them all the time.

Speaker 2 (02:28):
Chinese scientists have created self cleaning glass.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
It cleans itself.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
I'm going to need more. How is this possible?

Speaker 2 (02:38):
It uses built in electrodes that basically zap the dust
and other particles from its surface, so you don't have
to clean it.

Speaker 3 (02:45):
It'll just clean itself. I don't.

Speaker 4 (02:48):
I don't know how I feel about this.

Speaker 3 (02:50):
You should feel very happy.

Speaker 4 (02:51):
No, I feel like there might be too many chemicals
or too many weird things that could happen.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
Like chemicals, mimicals.

Speaker 4 (02:57):
I'll still like the bird, because I told you I've
had a bird problem lately because of my bird feeders
or the birds keep flying into the glass.

Speaker 3 (03:05):
Yeah, just fly into our windows all the time. I know.

Speaker 4 (03:08):
But if they can self clean, can they put off.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Like emids, some sort of stay away scent or something yes?

Speaker 4 (03:14):
Like don't yes, like a little electronics.

Speaker 2 (03:17):
See, now you're getting into the spirit of news for nerds,
Yeah you are, you're actually trying to.

Speaker 3 (03:21):
Improve their products.

Speaker 2 (03:22):
Yes, I am. And then lastly, if you're not into spiders,
and I am not.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
No.

Speaker 2 (03:29):
Researchers have discovered four new types of tarantulas, so they're
all new tarantulas that we didn't know existed. The reason
this is in the news, by the way, is because apparently.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
Much of this can I say on the radio.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
I don't know. See I don't know. This is where
I don't are.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
Apparently for the males, they are.

Speaker 4 (03:57):
What are we trying to say here, Let's just spit
it well, spit it out politically like split it out,
spit it out radio friendly?

Speaker 3 (04:03):
Here they're junk is massive.

Speaker 2 (04:05):
They say, you did not just say that's the best
you could do.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
Radio friendly?

Speaker 2 (04:15):
How is that not radio friendly? Those words are not
you can say those words on the radio. And that's
why researchers are like, whoa. They found these four new
tarantulas species, and all of them are like.

Speaker 3 (04:26):
Whoa, my gosh, they're not hung like a tarantula, my gosh. No, no, no, no, I'm.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Just sharing the story in science. Why do you got
to make it sexual? It's just science.

Speaker 4 (04:42):
I didn't say junk.

Speaker 3 (04:43):
Well, that's a body part. Yes, an anatomy class. That's
exactly what the kids are learning these days.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
They've got a pointer up on the chart on the wall,
and here's what we call junk.

Speaker 4 (04:58):
I think we ended on a high there.

Speaker 3 (04:59):
I don't know what else we could do. I call
it news for nerds. Melissa calls it delightful.
