warfare. Don Basham shares how theJezebel's spirit is determined to destroy our godly

heritage and roots. Now Here's Don. I was in the denominational past bit
long enough to supper what many mendo, and that is the average preacher
in the average denominate of denominational churchis working with a congregation made up mostly
of women and kids. And thatvery anemic kind of situation is testimony to

(00:47):
a couple of things. One,it's testimony to the rebellion of men who
have forsaken their spiritual responsibilities in theirhomes as the priest and prophet in their
own home and also as God's governmentalleaders in the Body of Christ. It
also testifies to the effeminacy in theChurch, which as being more and more

(01:10):
made manifest in many of the denominationsin terms of decisions that are being made
to all away from ordaining women toputting their blessing on lesbian marriages and starting
homosexual congregations. I've been out ofseminary since nineteen fifty seven. I was
in Bible College during the early fifties, and there were signs of apostasy even

(01:34):
then. I went to school overin Udian, Oklahoma, and Phillips and
then the graduate seminary because I wasordained in the Disciple Church Christian Church,
and we were a fairly conservative Biblecollege and seminary by some theological definitions even
then. But there was a liberalelement in the church. But I've often
said in the years since that ifanybody had told me back when I was

studying for the ministry that within twentyor twenty five years, the things would
be happening in the church that arehappening, things being done in the name
of the Church of Jesus Christ,such as giving financial support to violent communist
revolutionaries and sanctioning illicit sexual relationships betweenpeople, calling it if it's regardless of

(02:23):
marriage, if it's a meaningful experience, there's love there, then really God
is in it all the way toordaining homosexuals and giving sanction to even to
lesbian relationships. I thought, ifanybody would have prophesied twenty five years ago
that that would have happened, orhad predicted it would happen. I said,
Oh, don't be ridiculous. Imean, the Church has got problems,

(02:43):
and the nation's got problems, butthings they are never really going to
get that bad. But they have, and they may even get worse.
The In fact, they will getworse, obviously, because according to the
way God's operating, the light isgoing to get lighter and the darkness is
going to get darker. I hada great old friend who was an influence
in my life many years ago whenAlice Now were first married. He was

a real Christian mystic and saint.His name was Rufus. Mostly some of
you may have read one of hisbooks, but he had a tremendous influence
on my life. And we weretogether and when we were living in a
retreat center up in Maryland when AliceNow were first married, back before I
trained for the ministry, and wewere in this spiritual retreat house taking some
training and spiritual life, and brotherRufus was there and one night we were

(03:28):
sitting around a fireplace in the livingroom as we retreat house together, and
sort of facetiously, I said,this would have been in nineteen fifty And
I said to Brother Rufus, BrotherRupus prophesy for us, why do you
see coming in the future. AndI was half joking, and he was
about eighty two years old at thetime, and he said he kind of
got quiet, and he said,this is what I see. He said,

(03:49):
I see everything and everybody in thespirit of Jesus Christ getting better and
better, and everything and everybody outsidethe spirit of Jesus Christ getting worse and
worse. And I thought about thatmany times in the years, in decades
since, how true his prophecy was. After I'd been out in the ministry

(04:11):
of a while. In fact,it started while I was still in the
pastorate. God began dealing with meabout the reality of evil and satan.
Things began to happen in my ministrythat made me aware that there was some
four supposing me. And I wasa product of that seminary where a lot
of guys who really didn't even believethere was such a thing as satan.
I really knew better than that,but I didn't want to have anything to
do with him. But things beganto happen while I was in the pastorate,

(04:33):
my last pastor in Pennsylvania that waspreparing me for an understanding of spiritual
war. I'd tell some of thesethings and delivered from evil. I won't
go into it this morning, butanyway, after after I left the pastorate,
in fact, just about the timeI was leaving the pastorate, I
got acquainted with Derek and he'd beenin deliverance ministry for a while. And
i'd met Maxwell White, the Canadianin Toronto. He'd pastored there when I

had pastored there, and I'd beenacquainted with his ministry of deliver So there
were those two pioneers that were somehelp to me. But it was after
I moved to Florida and again administeringregularly that I really got into deliverance,
begin to study it, and beginto write books on it, and have
become the experts you see before youtoday. But there are other aspects to
the war besides deliverance. I wantto teach just a little on because we're

(05:18):
going to talk about principalities and powerstoday, not demons, about this Jezebel
thing. But I do want tokind of set the stage for it out
of the scriptures. So if youwant to turn with me to Isaiah chapter
fourteen, we're going to look atthe two passages that reflect how the warfare

(05:38):
began back before man was on theearth. Now there are other scriptures beside
these two, but these two haveto do with what we're talking about.
And Isaiah is prophesying in the spirit, and one year in the spirit,
the future, in the past arenot all all that separated in the spirit.

(05:58):
In God, there is no time. Everything is eternal now, and
so you have to keep that inmind when you realize that when Isaiah and
others would prophesied, they would speaknot only to situations which they were privy
to, but in that prophetic spirit, some of the things they said were
carrying weight, and we're predicting thingsthat would happen centuries later. And sometimes
the things that they were saying thatwere also privy and pertinent to the thing

(06:21):
that was taking place, also referredto cosmic events that happened way back before.
And it's only by spiritual understanding andthe power of the spirit and general
consensus of interpretation of scripture that wecome to see how some of these things
apply, and this is true aboutthis scripture in Isaiah, the one in
Ezekiel. Here is a kind ofa prophetic word from Isaiah and which he

(06:41):
is remembering or recalling. In themidst of this prophecy, which is also
relevant for his own time. Heis testifying or recalling the thing that happened
cosmically back before man was put onthe earth. Begins with verse twelve,
How you have fallen from heaven,Oh morning Star, oh son of the
Dawn, the morning Star. Thatthe word there's Lucifer, And you know
who's one of the archangels. Lucifermeans lightbringer or light bearer. You have

been cast down to the earth,you who once laid low the nations.
And now he explains the reason howthis thing transpired cosmically, How we know
what happened in rebellion, in thewar in heaven that took place back before
man was created. You sit inyour heart. I will ascend to Heaven.
I will raise my throne above thestars of God. I will sit
enthroned on the mount of the Assembly, on the utmost heights of the sacred

(07:27):
Mountain. I will ascend to thetops of the clouds. I will make
myself like the most high. That'sthe key the rebellion of Lucifer, one
of the three archangels who after Father'sson in Holy Spirit. These archangels in
the government of God were the mostpowerful personalities anywhere, and Lucifer perhaps the
most powerful of all, as wewill see when we read Ezekiel. But

(07:48):
he was the chief archangel in thegovernment of God, and the way things
were operating in the heavenlies back evenbefore man was on the earth. And
somehow, for various reasons, herebelled, And this ambition that he had
to take the place of God isdescribed for us in this scripture. I
will ascend above the tops of theclouds. I will make myself like the

(08:09):
most time. But you are broughtdown to the grave, to the depths
of the pit. Now turn withme over to Ezekiel twenty eight, and
we'll read the other briefly, theother passage that also refers to the thing
Ezekiel has been prophesying, first alamentation against the Prince of Tire, which
by definition and by description, that'sas he's talking about, an earthly ruler.
And then while he's in this propheticstate. He begins to take up

(08:31):
a lamentation against a person that's calledhere the King of Tire. But it's
obvious by his description of him thathe's not talking primarily about an earthly ruler,
but again about Lucifer the archangel,and he's reinforcing or butcher are strengthening
some of the things that Isaiah saidverse eleven and Ezekiel twenty eight, the
word of the Lord came to me, son of man, take up a

(08:52):
lamentation concerning the King of Tire,and say to him, this is what
the sovereign Lord says. You arethe mob of perfection, full of wisdom
and perfect in beauty. You werein Eden, the garden of God,
and every precious stone adorned you.And he goes on to describe the adornment
around this heavenly figure on the daythat you were created. On the day

(09:16):
you were created, they were prepared. You were anointed as a guardian Cherub,
for so I ordained you. Youwere on the holy amount of God.
This symbols the symbolized the authority thatthis heavenly prince had. You walked
among the fiery stones. Now versefifteen is the key again to the rebellion.
You were blameless in your ways fromthe day you were created until wickedness

(09:39):
was found in you. So whateverit was that found birth or life in
Lucifer, in this archangel while he'sserving in this high and exalted place,
as I say, perhaps co ruleror co governor of the universe, we
don't know. Anyway, it wasa tremendously high responsibility. Wickedness was found

(10:00):
in him. And so the scripturegoes on to say, speaking of God,
so I drove you in disgrace fromthe mountain of God. I expelled
you, o guardian Cherub, fromamong the fiery stones. And then there
is described to hear what actually happensin the harder life of Lucifer that led
to this rebellion from which we stillsuffer. Your heart became proud on account

(10:20):
of your beauty, but blender.So I threw you to the earth,
and I made a spectacle of youbefore kings. So apparently what happened is
as this high and holy archangel intowhom God had poured all of his creative
genius and perfection, sitting in thatposition, authority, began to contemplate his
own self worth and began to andout of that contemplation pride was born in

(10:45):
him. He says, your heartbecame proud on account of your beauty.
Lucifer began to contemplate his wisdom andhis beauty, and his position and everything
else. And he said, inessence to himself, anybody as great as
I am deserves to be number one. You know, this is basically his
pride, the rise of pride.And you corrupted your wisdom because of your
splendor. When we get too highan opinion of ourselves and what we are,

(11:09):
it immediately it always brings deception.Now he had great wisdom. He
was partaking of the wisdom of God, just as we were pretaking of the
power and the rule of God.God had invested a tremendous investment in that
archangel. I say as a createdbeing. At that time he was created,
the angels were, but he wasthe most powerful created being in the
universe, but seated in that throneof authority as God's sort of God's right

(11:35):
the Trinity's right hand man, soto speak. This contemplation takes place,
pride is born in his heart,and with the pride the ambition to be
number one, and so as Isaiahsaid as him saying, I will ascend
to the mount of God. Iwill be like the most high. I'm
going to be the number one.And because of that he's cast out,
And so there was the rebellion.It's referred to in other scriptures in jude

(11:56):
and other places where it talks Jesuswhen the sciples came back from there,
sending out of the seventy, theycame back rejoicing that the demons were subject
to them. Name first thing Jesussaid was I saw Satan fall like lightning
from heaven. He's referring back tohis own pre existence as the Christ,
in which he was a witness asone of the Trinity. He was a
witness to the thing that happened that'sreferred to in these two scriptures, and

the authority in dominion that he hadover Satan, and the Disciple simply reminded
him when they came back testifying tovictory over Satan. Reminded him of that
cosmic event when the wisdom and thepower of God Satan Lucifer had to be
thrown down from his high place,and Lucifer, who had been known as
light Bearer or Lightbringer, became Satanor the devil, the Satan meaning our

(12:39):
adversary, and the death the devilthe other name that he was given.
So there are other scriptures that referto this fall. But then we know
that what happened was in the creationstory when God creates Adam and even puts
him in the garden. There theserpent is present in the There the devil

(13:01):
is present in the form of theserpent to deceive Eve and to deceive Adam.
I think one of the best thingsthat we can remember when we consider
our destiny as men who are supposedto help rule in the kingdom, and
as God is working out his purposesin us and with our covenant people and
everything else. Part of the reasonwhy we go through the struggles that we're
in is that no matter what Godbegins, and how perfect it is and

(13:24):
how ordered it is in his will, there will always be in it the
snake. He's going to be theresomewhere everything that God purposes to do and
begins to do. Like if theGarden of Eden, with Adam and Eve
and all of the wonderful purposes thatGod had for them, God allowed the
snake to appear, the serpent toappear in that garden, and you know

(13:45):
what happened. He deceived Eve.Basically, his deception, his temptation to
her was the same temptation that hewas guilty of. He said, the
reason God doesn't want you to eatof the truth of the free, of
the fruit, of the tree ofthe knowledge of good and evil is because
will become like God. God doesn'twant you to that tree because when you
do, you'll know the different.You'll become like God, knowing good and

(14:05):
evil. The temptation he put beforeEve and indirectly to Adam was that they
could become like God, but withoutdoing it by spiritual means. It was
a short cut to holiness. Itwas an appeal to Eve's pride. Here's
a way to become like God.That's what Satan wanted to do. He
wanted to become like God. Andit was the same deceptive temptation that he
put before even She bit. Shetook it literally, she bit the apple.

(14:28):
And God holds Adam responsible, Ithink obviously, because there was poor
old dumbnut Adam standing right there watchingthat take place, with his wife being
ripped off by the enemy, anddidn't make a move to stop it.
Of course, it appealed to ambitionthat was already an Eve. Anyhow,
she said, I see now whatit is. I knew all along there

(14:48):
was some reason why God and Adamdidn't want me to eat that fruit.
They've been holding back on me.They've been interfering with my spiritual progress.
And that really is the beginnings ofthe Jezebel thing right there. And so
she turns to Adam. She takesthe fruit and turns Adam and says,
here, Adam, eat, don'tsay anything, just do what I tell

(15:09):
you. Eat. You know.Adam said, surey, whatever you say
is okay with me. Here.She was leadership of the family, making
the decision, and he had retreatedinto the feminine passive position. Yester year
or whatever you say here, that'sokay with me here. And so didn't
mean to get off on that,but the whole thing blew up, and

(15:30):
it blew up because of the reversalof roles. Eve assuming the masculine dominant
decision making role and Adam retreating intothe passive, feminine subordinate role. A
complete reversal of roles, which iswhich is one of the things that the
Jezebel spirit so promotes today. Allright, So all of that's just by
a way of saying that after Adamand Eve were kicked out of the garden

(15:54):
of eating what Adam said to Eve, his deer were now hentering into a
time of transition. So in thetransition and has continued ever since, and
the warfare has been being waged eversince. And so with the fall,
the power of dominion and rule thatAdam was sharing with God passed into Satan's
hands. And that's the reason whyin the intemptation of Jesus, Satan took
him to the high Mount and showedhim all the kingdoms of the world in

(16:15):
a moment of time, and hesaid, see all these their mind,
for they have been given unto me. Another translation would say they have been
betrayed into my hands. And Ihoarded Satan get that power and dominion.
He got part of it from Adam'sfailure. When Adam lost that power,
it passed into Satan's hand. Hehad gained it by trickery, by deceiving
Adam and Eve. And he toldJesus, all this power is mine,

(16:37):
and I'll give it to whoever Iwant to, and it'll be yours if
you'll bout down and worship me.And understand, when Jesus Satan showed Jesus
the kingdoms of the world, hewasn't showing him real estate, trees and
fields and gardens and city lots andso forth. He was showing him nations,
showing him people. Because the spiritualwarfare goes on in the heart,
and we're the battleground. It's peoplewho were the battleground. The warfare is

(17:00):
going over for the hearts and soulsand spirits and loyalties of men, and
that's still where it's going on,all right. I want to take the
liberty now to just I pulled outof my manuscript to Echell, he was
working on this book manuscript. Iwant to read the chapter out of my
manuscript. It'll take probably about fifteenminutes or so on Jezebel in High Places,

(17:22):
because I think it'd be I've saidit more clearly in the manuscript than
I could teach it. And thenthat's going to lead us into a time
of discussion after we do that,and I'll make some other comments as we
go along. I don't normally wouldn'tnormally do this, but I mean to
read something. But I think it'llbe pertinent enough that anything that may be
lost in the reading from it,rather than just speaking it extemoraneously, will
be made up by the clarity init. This chapter follows one in the

(17:48):
book that has to do with thefederal bureaucracy, which I call the growth
of the chapter I call federal bureaucracycolon the growth of a monster. And
then this chapter six is Jezebel inhigh Place, and I call it the
Crisis. Viewed from a different perspective, I have to understand that all of
the things that I've been talking about, in all of our struggles in the
human realm, behind it all thereis this cosmic spiritual struggle, and part

(18:11):
of the reason why men continue tomake the same stupid mistakes throughout history,
as they don't understand that we alllive in two worlds at once. There
is the material world in which wehave to live our lives out in which
the Kingdom of God is going tobecome manifest. But behind that there is
this spiritual realm, spiritual reality,supernatural reality in which both the devil and
God operate, and the things thata warfare that's taking place in the spiritual

(18:34):
Kingdom manifests itself in the physical realmin which we live, but most people
are regularly unaware of the cosmic spiritualforces that are being brought to play upon
this earthly material life which we live. Of course, once you're introduced into
the Kingdom of God, you havesome awareness of that. But even good
Christians what are not totally aware ofthe continual intensity of that warfare. Okay,

(19:00):
efective from which we view a problemhas much to do with our response
to it. The preceding chapter,we tile the federal bureaucracy the growth of
a monster. In this chapter wewant to examine a major Satanic influence which,
to no small degree, motivates andcontrols that monster. This presentation is
not based on theory, but onfifteen years of biblical study and active personal
ministry. In the realm of spiritualwarfare. According to Scripture, there exists

(19:23):
on earth an unrelenting warfare between theKingdom of God and the Kingdom of Satan.
The secular world's almost total ignorance ofthis struggle and no way changes the
reality of it. For us tomake specific application of this spiritual truth to
the massive problems of the federal government'sinfluence and control over our lives. We
need a reminder of how the Kingdomof Satan operates. And then I share
some of the things that we've justshared scripturally that I don't need to read.

(19:47):
One thing I didn't say, though. You remember when Jesus began began
his earthly ministry. One of thefirst things he came preaching, the Kingdom
of God is at hand, orthe Kingdom of God is among you.
Up until Jesus appeared on the scenein his earthly incarnation and began his ministry,
essentially, the kingdoms of this worldhave been and we're in thrall with
a Satan. God was working outhis purposes on earth. But the Little

(20:11):
Book of a First John says,we know that the whole world lies in
the bosom of the wicked One.Now by world he means the cosmic order
of things, the kingdoms of thisworld, and so with Satan and control
all of that. As I said, there's only two kingdoms on the earth
either the Kingdom. There's the Kingdomof God and the Kingdom of Satan.
If you're not in one, you'rein the other. Now, a lot

(20:32):
of people don't want to believe thatthey don't want to recognize. Many people
want to say they were going tolive good lives, And yeah, we
believe there's a God, or webelieve in a moral order. But if
you're not in the Kingdom of Godbiblically, there isn't any other place you
can be, because you're either inthe kingdom of darkness or the Kingdom of
light, either under the Kingdom ofSatan and under his rulership, either directly
or indirectly. Are you're under therule of God. So when Jesus came

(20:56):
preaching immediately after his baptismentation comes back, he begins preaching the Kingdom of God
is at hand. So he comespreaching the reality of the kingdom. It's
an invasion and essence in which Godcomes in and establishes once more a beachhead
literally speaking in terms of kingdom lifeand quality among all of the kingdoms of
this world. And that that intensewarfare has continued ever since. And course,

(21:18):
the Church basically is meant to bea representation of the government of God
on earth. A lot of theproblems we're in or because the Church is
abandoned, are forsaken. It's rightand it's authority and it's rule, and
left all of that stuff the waythe world runs to secular men, to
humanists, are to socialists and others. While we've concentrated on just you know,
quote spiritual truths unquote. No wonderthe churches is anemic because it is.

(21:41):
Okay, one scripture which we didn'tread, which I will, is
it that about this warfare? AndPaul talks about in Ephesians chapter six when
he says, we don't wrestle againstflesh and blood. And he goes on
and says, well, I'll readthe scripture that. For Paul says,
put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand

(22:03):
against the wiles of the devil.For we are not contending against flesh and
blood, but against the world rulersof this present darkness, against the spiritual
hosts of wickedness in heavenly places.And I'll just go ahead and read this
because it's relevant. When Paul speaksof the principalities and powers, it's been
suggested that he speaks of the higherranks of the devil's angels, the princess
which rule over great world areas suchas those described in Daniel ten were,

(22:26):
the Prince of Persian and the Princeof Greece battle the archangel Michael for twenty
one days to delay God's answer toDaniel's prayer. The world rulers of this
present darkness may correspond to those fallenangels who keep the world in darkness by
hindering the bringing of the Gospel ofJesus Christ. Finally, the spiritual hosts
of wickedness, as some of themodern translations say, hosts of wicked spirits.

(22:48):
The spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenlyplaces seems to indicate the lower order
of angels and even the myriad ofdemon spirits which invade the earth and fill
the atmosphere immediately surrounding it. Inother words, there is a hierarchy in
the spiritual realm, in the Satanicspiritual realm, beginning with Satan falling Lucifer
himself Satan, and then the otherfallen angels that the scripture tells us a

(23:11):
third of the angels rebelled with Satanwere cast out of heaven as well.
And these are all of varying ascendingorders and ranks, and beneath all of
those are the demon spirits that aresort of like the infantrymen or the foot
soldiers or the henchmen that are outto carry out Satan's plans. They are
the beings primarily that torment us.They attack the people of God, and
that's what the whole spiritual warfare ministryof deliverance is about. When Jesus was

(23:34):
tempted, he encountered Satan in theflesh personally, and Satan was his adversary.
After he overcame Satan in the temptationand returned in the power of the
spirit into galerity and began his ministry. When he began to meet the needs
of people, he did not confrontSatan per se, but the demon spirits
that were tormenting people, although herecognized it, of course, is that
they were simply in league with Satan. In fact, the woman who was

(23:56):
bolled over with the spirit of infirmity, Jesus said something like this, this
woman, whom Satan hath bound thesemany years, be loose. But the
bondage wasn't something by Satan himself,but was being conducted by a demon spirit.
So there are a rank or hierarchyall away from Satan, who is
the archangel or the fallen Prince,fourth most powerful personality in the universe after

(24:17):
the Trinity, and in all ofthese a descending order of angels and powerful
emissaries whose rule and is over variousparts of the earth. Most of you
know brother Jim Moore, who's afine Bible teacher. Jim had a revelation
some years ago in which God showedhim he had a vision in which God
showed him a ruling Satanic principalities overmajor cities in the United States. And

(24:40):
I don't remember all of them,but when Jim was telling us about I
do remember two or three. OverChicago was a ruling principality of violence,
and over Miami was a spirit ofpolitical intrigue that happened to be when Nixon
was president. By the way,in his summer home was in Miami area.
Over New Orleans was the spirit ofwitchcraft prince, not demon but ruling
prints over there's there. And whatwe've learned is that over certain areas,

(25:03):
just as there is over cities,or even over churches or over denominations,
there are spiritual hierarchies of Satanic influences. There are denominational principalities and powers.
There are denominational demons. I didn'tmean to get off in this, but
I may as well shirt with union. I was ministering down in Florida one
time and the little group and wastalking was about half this size, and

(25:25):
I was preaching on spiritual warfare,and well, I guess I was just
teaching on the baptism and the HolySpirit and gifts. And there was a
little gal sitting on the front rulekept saying something about we a Piscopalians believe
this. Our Piscopalians don't believe that, and every other word was a Piscopalian,
Piscopalian, Piscopalian. And I madea kind of mental note of that,
and later we got into the ministryand she got delivered of that demon.
It was just chattering away like mad. It was an Episcopal demon.

(25:48):
Now I say that to say this, I'm not criticizing the Episcopalian Church.
There are those in every other denomination. I know of a situation. Derek
minister to a Pentecostal Galley one timewho was caught up on diet. Nutrition
and understand, I believe that Godis bringing a word on nutrition and diet
to the body of Christ. Butlike anything else you can pervert it.

(26:10):
And she was a gal who wasnot only not eating pork, but she
was militant against it and creating allkinds of problems. And when Derek ministered
to her, a demon came outby that name, calling itself pigs and
Bacon. Pigs and bacon. Andit's not that I'm not saying you're not
supposed to eat pork, you understand, or Rufus Mosley used to say.

(26:36):
He was Rufus was a food nut, and somebody came up to you knew
he wouldn't eat pork, and hesaid, brother, Rufus, do you
believe you can eat pork and stillget to heaven? He said sure,
and the more you eat, thequicker you'll get there. So anyway,
I keep getting distracted from what I'mdone about. But there are these rulings,

(27:00):
spirits and ruling principalities, angels overcertain things. And again I don't
mean you to go out here sayingthat I'm saying denominations or demonic, but
there are to the extent that anyreligious belief or group becomes perverted heretical.
And basically what heresy is is oneaspect of spiritual truth pushed too far to
the exclusion of other truth. Andso just like gluttony is the perversion of

(27:21):
a good, healthy appetite that Godgives us in order for us to eat
and be healthy, then perversions ofthings become demony. And there are these

the most powerful and perverse of thesesatanic principalities has established itself in government and

families, which has been our rightfulheritage. This particular principality is characterized by

ruler of Israel, she used herposition to persecute and slaughter the priests of
God, and also to entertain thepriests of Bail at the king's table,

and to plot the death of Elijah. In First King's nineteen it is sobering
to realize the force of her threatagainst Elijah. Remember the count after the
contest on Mount Carmel and the slaughterof the Bail priest, Jezebel sends word
to Elijah that you know she's outto get him. It is sobering to
realize that the force of her threatagainst Elijah was so powerful that the prophet

of God, though he had justemerged from a great victory in which God
supernaturally confirmed his leadership, fled infear of his life. That gives you
an indication of how powerful that thingis. Later, Jezebel's cunningly usurped her
husband's authority to plot the murder andconfiscate the property of Naboth, an innocent
farmer who had the misfortune to owna venued The king coveted that her abominations

are especially reprehensible to the Lord isevidenced by these facts. Number one,
The scriptures flatly state that Ahab,whom God held directly responsible for his wife's
sins quote, did more to provokethe Lord God of Israel to anger than
all of the kings of Israel thatwere before him. And the provocation before
God had to do with Jezebel.That's in First Kings chapter sixteen, verse

thirty three, second point. BothElijah and Elishah gave dire predictions of God's
judgment against Jezebel and prophesied her violentend quote and the dogs shall eat Jezebel

This is a prophecy from Elijah inFirst Kings twenty one, and from Elishah
and Second Kings chapter nine. Jehuwho ascended Jehu who ascended to the throne

is the destruction our should say intent. I suppose the tactic number one,
the destruction of our godly heritage andalienation from our moral and spiritual roots.
Now, first I give the scripturalpicture, and then I refer to what's
happening contemporary society. The scriptural pictureis that Jezebel, as representative of the
reprehensible female deity, was dedicated toIsrael's downfall. As the daughter of f

Bail, the King of Sidon,she could have planned Israel's destruction by persuading
her father to attack Israel, asSidon had done before in the time of
the Judges. As a little scripturalreference back in ten Chapter of Judges to

that since she was the daughter ofKing of Sidon, who was also a

Bail priest, she could have triedto instigate military action against Israel. Instead,
she chose an unholy marriage with Ahab, Israel's king, and then proceeded
with her plan to alienate the Israelitesfrom Jehovah and from their destiny as God's
chosen people. She persuaded Ahab toforsake Jehovah and worshiped Bail. Moreover,

she promoted and subsidized the worship ofBail Israel by slaying the true prophets of
God and making regular provision for eighthundred and fifty Baale prophets at the royal
table. Now the current fixture isthis. Jezebel in our land today works
the same way as Jezebel of Scripture. Her strategy is to secure strong influence
in government and from there to plotthe destruction or at least the neutralization of

the servants of God, that is, Christian leadership in the church, while
at the same time subsidizing at thefederal ardor her own prophets the advocates of
atheistic socialism and secular humanism, andall the while working relentlessly to separate the
people of our nation from their historic, moral and spiritual roots. Persecution of
the Church by government is just oneexample. In recent years, the government

has increasingly assumed positions of hostility tothe Church. Interference by government in religious
matters, the arbitrary closing of Christianschools which fail to comply with unconstitution government
regulations, the increasing harassment of churchesby the internal revenue service. All these
are gram reminders of the Spirit ofJezebel at work within government. Our own
local church has recently emerged from atwo year ordeal with the IRS in which

we saw our constitutional rights to taxexemption into the financial privacy of our members
severely threatened. Our terior struggle includeda six week on site audit with as
many as three IRS auditors present atone time. In addition, the investigation
required thousands of man hours spent byour staff menor members and ministers digging through
files to validate and defend legitimate churchexpenditures, plus over one hundred thousand dollars

in legal fees. And if wehadn't had the money to get the right
kind of lawyers, they'd have suckedus under for sure. All that to
prove that none of our activities wereoutside the legitimate functions of the church.
Many other churches and religious groups today are enduring similar indignities at the hand
of the federal bureaucracy. The USgovernment, for the most part, has

made an unholy alliance with the Spiritof Jezebel, just like King Ahab did.
Most of its leaders have abandoned thevision of the us as a nation
under God with a unique spiritual destinyto embrace her at least condone and increasingly
pagan, anti Christian socialistic posture totallyalien to our heritage. Tactic number two,

the destruction of the family. Here'sthe scriptural picture, the scriptural picture
of Jezebel's enmity toward fatherhood and familyas a parent. Remember, Jezebel herself

a Satanic female deity who defies thefatherhood of God and all male spiritual authority,

lives through abortion, a crime ofunspeakable proportions, which by itself demands the
judgment of God. All this plusa growing secular humanism which exalts man's self

indulgence over the godly principles of workand family and faith, which alone can
produce a kingdom society. In addition, we are saddled with a federal welfare
which uses billions of dollars in illconceived ways designed to hasten the destruction of
American family life, for to amongAmericans, millions of needy families. I
want to quote a couple of thingshere from George Gilder's book Wealth and Poverty,

which again I recommend that you guysread. And he's talking about the
utter failure of welfare to accomplish anythingthat's lasting, and how it really accomplishes
just the opposite of what we wouldlike to see it accomplished. Rather than
helping families, it ends up destroyingthem by the wrong use of money.
The most serious fraud this is Guilder. The most serious fraud is committed not

by the members of the welfare culture, but by the creators of it.

seductive, erosive pressure on the marriagesand work habits of the poor, and
over the years and poor communities thatfosters a durable welfare culture. We've got
families that are fourth generation on welfarenow, and that the government been spot
for four generations now, the governmentpaying money, paying out money for people

toward our nation's destruction. How farwe have regressed from freedom towards socialist slavery
is documented by statistics. Remember bydefinition. By definition, a slave is
one who works all day and receivesnothing for his labor. The average American
worker today spends the first two hoursand forty nine of each working day to
pay federal, state, and localtaxes. Are state. In another way,

a man who begins Monday morning ateight am is a slave to government
until two thirty pm Tuesday afternoon,when he finally begins to work for himself.

government demands our work not only forae hundred and twenty two days, but

government than to God and personal initiativeto solve their problems. And this is
