Speaker 4 (00:58):
It was a beautiful, A little cold, but oh my.

Speaker 1 (01:02):
Gosh, beautiful. Yesterday is my favorite type of day. Cold
and crisp and sunny. It doesn't get doesn't get better.
Canucks losing to the Blues yesterday five two not very
impressive the Canucks. And I think the big question surrounding
the Canucks now after this one and two start is

(01:24):
what is Philip Heatl gonna do? What do you mean, wait,
he wears number seventy two hopefully played better? Well, no,
but he wears number seventy two. And then you look
at this guy at Penn State, Oh, Gavin McKenna, where's
number seventy two as well? What are you applying here?
What are they going to do when they win the
lottery and Gavin McKenna joins the Vancouver Canucks. You're telling

(01:48):
me that would be a bad thing. Say goodbye to Hughes.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
That's one. You're gonna lose your franchise. Defense wrong, right
off the bat.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Wrong.

Speaker 4 (01:55):
Your president, who is up there in age is not
sticking around, Okay, to get this guy. I know you're
not concerned about him leaving, but if you're going for
this guy, it's going to get.

Speaker 1 (02:07):
Ugly if your Quinn Hughes. And I've talked about this before,
but if you're Quinn Hughes in Philip Heedal, if you're
Quinn Hughes, do you leave a team that has what
many believe to be a generational player joining it.

Speaker 4 (02:23):
I don't know how many eighteen year olds have come
in and absolutely flipped the world upside down in the NHL.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
We got to look ahead, though.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
Quinn Hughes is gone. If they're going for that guy,
say goodbye. Driving to the airport.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
I'll tell you what happy birthday at Quinnhughes. By the way,
I don't happy it is, but his twenty sixth birthday
today Again, I don't know how happy he is. After
the start, that they're one and two, and Thatcher Dampko
has been great. Sure, what's been great? Garland has been great?
Three guys, I'm not so sure about everybody else. Too
many passes. Let's look at the highlights from a yesterday

(02:58):
afternoon or yesterday evening, and then we'll talk about it
some more rock and roll. Good Derek Rogers' Arena, Vancouver, BC.
Pick it up eighte and a half minutes in after
the Ellaris Peterson giveaway, here come the Blues. Jimmy Snuggerood
on the right side centering pass is gonna make it
make its way all the way back to Matthew Joseph
hey shot bounces back to the snug rood and in

(03:21):
Snugger Rudy in fashion he makes it one nothing. Saint
lou early second long lead passed in Jordan Cayu caught
by Quinn Hughes, but he's still able to tee it
up for Brayden Shant. He beats Kevin Lankin and two
nothing on the tally by the former weak King of Brandon.
Canuck's reply our deep banes to add to Rattu. Puck

(03:41):
bounces to Key for sure what Cannock's best players so
far Connock's best.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
Line so far two to one.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
Home team gets on the board two and a half
minutes later, though Blues with the tenacious fore check resulting
in Jimmy snuggerud bulging twine for a second of the
contest three to one Blues that was on a power play.
Connocks shorthanded again here and Blues are gonna cough up
the puck and there to pounds.

Speaker 3 (04:07):
To gobble it up is Keith for Surewood on the.

Speaker 1 (04:10):
Breakaway Sherewood faking shooting, staring Keith for Surewood with a
second of the game, team leading third overall three.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
To two, but that's as close as they'd come.

Speaker 1 (04:21):
Just over six minutes left, Shortly after Sherwoods second goal,
Blues breakout textia holding and finding Nathan Walker hit shot
goes in off Nick Bug's Dad. Blues in their new
road White's at an empty netter five to two over
the Canucks Vancouver at Dallas on Thursday. A positive note.
I like the Blues white. They may be one of

(04:42):
these rare teams whose white uniforms might be better than
their dark uniforms.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
I love them the yellow just oh I pops. I
thought on television it looked really, really good.

Speaker 1 (04:52):
Yeah, except for one thing. And I've talked about this before,
and the Canucks have fallen into this trap. The elimination
of the pants stripe, a horrible, horrible thing that has
happened in sports fashion over the last five, well maybe ten,
fifteen years or six.

Speaker 3 (05:06):
Get the stripes back, Get the stripes back.

Speaker 1 (05:08):
No pants stripe. How are you, Ryan? What's going on?
It is your weekend? Love with the kid? It's good,
he's good. Yeah, it's good.

Speaker 3 (05:15):
Sure everybody tuned in your thoughts in the pants stripe.

Speaker 1 (05:19):
It's a travesty. Would talk on uniforms. What's the big
deal it really is? You wanted to say something about
Delias Petterson.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Well, we're all we're gonna talk about the elephant.

Speaker 4 (05:29):
But you were fuming. No, I wasn't fuming up. But
I do want to say this. He had a good summer.
Don He's one hundred percent healthy. J T. Miller doesn't
live in Vancouver anymore. There's no more excuses. One assist
in three games, two shots on goal in three games,
one five on five, one five on five, drive play,
create offense, you know, be a difference maker. Did you

(05:49):
see Nathan McKinnon in Buffalo yesterday? Don dance across the
blue line with authority and put the puck in the
nut him and that, just like wonderful things McDavid dry said,
will look dangerous. He doesn't look dangerous. He's down to
fifteen minutes a game. He should be in nineteen twenty.
Heat'll had more five on five ice time than Patterson.

(06:11):
That's not good. When your second line center has got
more five on five ice than your top line center.
This team's not gonna go far. It's not gonna go far.
If Patterson's gonna collect one assist after every three games,
that is basically three points every ten games. Donny and
that's basically twenty five thirty thirty five, basically forty five points. Again,

(06:32):
they cannot go anywhere if he is not a difference maker,
and he hasn't been one in the first three games.

Speaker 1 (06:41):
I'm at then am I alone here? I almost and
I almost feel sorry for him at this point.

Speaker 4 (06:47):
Why he's making as you say, he's making eleven point
six million a year.

Speaker 1 (06:52):
People on Twitter last night, on social media last night,
we're talking about how he's gonna get booed soon a
hat Rodgers Arena.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
Well, he's lucky they're going on the road.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
I don't think they will. I don't think he will.
I think there's some indifference settling it. Wait, remember Louis Erics.
Did Louis Yorckson ever get booed? I think he did.
Vancouver done. At the end, I think people accepted the
fact that it wasn't his fault that he was making
six million dollars per over six seasons. Eventually people who

(07:24):
just resigned to that was a mistake, It wasn't Louis fault.
All of us would sign it. And I think we're
headed down that road with the LEAs Petterson not his fault.
Somebody offers you eleven point six million a year. You're
gonna take it. You're gonna take it. It's it's the
mistake of people who should have known better. That's the
way it looks right now. The Petterson contract was all

(07:46):
Jim Rutherford. Let's be honest.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
He's He's the only guy in the owner that have
the power to sign that guy for eight years. Alvine
does not have the power to sign up to say
let's let's do it.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
It's Jim.

Speaker 4 (07:57):
He's the big decision maker along with the old own.
You got to get the owners, uh sign off, Donny
to sign Yeah, so yeah, because that's his money. But
those are the two guys. If you're not happy with
them signing, yes, those are.

Speaker 1 (08:13):
If I'm a Canuck fan, I'm more upset with them
than I am with the least. Pettison last year was bad,
didn't come in shape. Okay, apparently that's.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
Not the case JT. Miller.

Speaker 1 (08:22):
And yet here's yeah, and and there was that. But
here's the play that I think really has to concern people.
Who who do you often hear as being the slowest
player on the Canucks one of them? No?

Speaker 3 (08:38):
Who?

Speaker 1 (08:38):
Who other than Peterson? Who else?

Speaker 4 (08:41):
Is slow, right, too slow, he's not he's not fast.

Speaker 1 (08:44):
Okay, but all like going back a few years.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
No, but where are you going? Tell me who you think?

Speaker 1 (08:50):
Ryan? Help me out.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
He's on his line, Rick, he's yes, yeah.

Speaker 1 (08:55):
Okay, you often hear that.

Speaker 3 (08:59):
I thought you're going back.

Speaker 1 (09:00):
Yeah, there'll be a we're gonna have a session after
the show and recap the slowest players through canc history. Okay,
So Bronck Bester is often you know, the great player
hockey sense. He's really improved his game, great shot. There
are the goals there, but his skating speed is always
in question. All right, yeah, that's true. I want you

(09:22):
to look at this first goal by the Saint Louis Blues,
like Petterson gives the puck away here. Okay, fine, now
the backchecks are that's that's Besser in the middle of
the ice. He's beaten them back on the four on
the backcheck. Should that happen? I'm not I'm not so sure.
But look, look, can we look at it again like
for people might might have missed that. So there's the

(09:43):
Petterson giveaway initially, and then the two of them start
on the backcheck about the same right there. From about
the same spot, you know, Brown the goal line and
Bess's hustling his butt off there.

Speaker 3 (09:57):
I just and then ends up ends up in the
back of the name.

Speaker 1 (10:00):
And I know there are other people you can blame
for this goal, whatever the case may be, but Best
is not the fastest guy, and they're well, he's busting
his ass there.

Speaker 4 (10:09):
And you mentioned about booying Patterson. This is an intelligent
hockey base fan base. This isn't Carolina and Columbus. People
know hockey in this market. And if you and as
Brian Burke used to say, Donnie, if you are going
to have a big contract and underachieve, the worst place
in the world to be is in a Canadian.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
What sounds like you're making any I'm not making excuses.

Speaker 4 (10:30):
I just told you I can't believe he's off to
the start he's been off to.

Speaker 1 (10:34):
I had somebody in.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
The league ask me, does he love the game of hockey? Like?
Does he like where's the passion? The fire, the burning?
I see, Surewood is making one point five million, He's
got three goals. He's your top forward right now. Garland's
the other one. And these guys are a one point
five million dollar forward down should not have more goals
than the guy making eleven six.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
And it's very very early. I get that you mentioned
Garland there. Sorry, Yeah, Garland zoned out for a second.
But I tweeted this out last night. We got the
tweet Bunny Chance, right, but I tweeted this out last night,
something to the effect of Garland and Sherwood. Can you
just not play them for the full sixty minutes? Because

(11:17):
they stick? Oh there he goes. It possible for the
Cuttucks to play Garland and Sherwood a full sixty minutes,
and there's a lot of people agreeing. Obviously it's tongue
in cheek, but man, I'm noticing those guys and they hustle,
and it's.

Speaker 4 (11:32):
Compete, and there's compete.

Speaker 1 (11:34):
You know, Garland's in the top six right now, and
sure what's not? But man, he's got an extension coming Sherewood.
What's going on with that? They haven't had meaty talks yet,
but it cost him. It's gonna cost him if you're
gonna keep waiting waiting. They did that with what's his name,
josh Ron. They got burned.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
But I'm gonna tell you right now, they have touch
base with the new agents for Surewood, but there's not
been meaty talks.

Speaker 1 (11:58):
And there'll be competition for yeah.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
Oh if he hits July first, donn he scored twenty
goals and lead the NHL and the hits, you're gonna
get paid. You're gonna get paid. And he's on pace
for obviously more. But back to your tweet. These guys care,
they compete, they try, there's passion, there's heart. Why can't
every forward on the Canucks do what Garland and Sherwood do?

Speaker 3 (12:21):
Why is that?

Speaker 4 (12:22):
Why is this so hard for that passion and heart
to be there for the other guys?

Speaker 1 (12:26):
Okay, Keith for Sherwood. Here he is a postgame clip.
Keith for Sherwood, two goals last night he leads the
Canucks in goals and points with three goals, zero, zero assists.
But here's Keifer on a tough outing for his team.

Speaker 5 (12:39):
I think we got to be ready for the puck drop.
It's a probably constant theme here and everything. It starts
I think with our just saying structure and our systems
and from there just executing our passes. You know, when
we don't execute, then we're chasing, and then we lose
possession and we got to work twice as hard to
get it back. So you know, we know they're a
rush team and we just we gave him too many
looks tonight.

Speaker 6 (12:59):
You're a guy that has a high one print still
lead to a lot of your offense.

Speaker 5 (13:05):
Yeah, I mean, it's it's just, you know, like we
have a good group here. It's it's obviously not the
ideal start, but you know, it'll it'll prove our character.
You know, we have a lot of good leaders in
here and a lot of world class talents, so we're good.
We just got to put our head down and work
and be ready for puck drop and have a full
sixty miles.

Speaker 1 (13:24):
And no shortage of people wondering when is Adam Foot,
who's come outed a little bit of criticism, when is
he going to play key for sure in the top six? Yeah,
and he's right hand or right wing. I don't think
there's anything. We just mentioned Garland, who's in who's in
the top six and then Besser, So maybe that's a
bit of an issue for the Conduction in terms of

(13:45):
moving Sherwood up to the top six. And we did
notice yesterday, well everybody noticed to watch that they switched
the two top centers, they switched linemates.

Speaker 4 (13:55):
But in the second period, the good teams don't have
guys making one point five million in your top six.

Speaker 1 (14:00):
This goes back to what we that is that that
is like the no, it's so what you got at
one point. What does it say about your other top
six guys When a guy making one five says they're
underperforming what I'm making, well, it does matter because that's
that's not how it is. That is how you build

(14:20):
a team. That is for sure what it sets an
example for everybody, including the highest paid players. This is
the way you play. I don't know who gets what
what he what he's making.

Speaker 3 (14:32):
I love him, but he can't be your best player.

Speaker 1 (14:35):
I can't that. But if he's outperforming them, of course
he goes in the top six.

Speaker 4 (14:40):
We said this in September. This is not a good
top six, this is not a good forward group. They're
going to struggle to score goals and everything we said
is now coming to fruition.

Speaker 1 (14:49):
Okay, good, Yeah.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
I also, I mean, I know you say it's all
like the contract that you know, blame the people that
signed the contract.

Speaker 1 (15:03):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (15:04):
Man Peterson's also struggled, and he's yet to speak to
the media once postgame. And I know it's the new
way of the world. They have to put their numbers
on the game.

Speaker 1 (15:13):
What happened? They win or lose? They won?

Speaker 3 (15:15):
Yeah, so when they when they lose, where is he?
He's got a letter on a sweater, and where is.

Speaker 4 (15:19):
The captain stood and took the bullets last night? He
didn't look happy. But the captains who.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
Helped to run that.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
Yeah, but if you have a letter on your sweater,
you got one shot five on five. You were at
the heart of the mistake on the first goal step
to the mics man. But now nowadays it's you got
to put the number on the board. It's got to
be approved by six media people before they're allowed to
talk to anybody.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
So he can run and hide. You make eleven point
versus what we're seeing.

Speaker 3 (15:47):
No, I know, but I'm just saying that these guys
should have to These multimillionaires shouldn't just be the protect
everyone's protected.

Speaker 1 (15:56):
Now.

Speaker 4 (15:56):
You see Adam refuses to criticize Peterson or any at that. Yeah,
I get that too, but they're protecting them back.

Speaker 3 (16:03):
I don't get that. I don't why do you guys
get that, like, like over the weekend. I don't know
if you guys saw over the weekend Todd McClellan after
the first team he ripped the team. Uh, you just say,
Lindy Roffe player, No, No, I didn't see it. Lindy Roff
was very critical of disabers that hasn't worked out because
they're still awful. I mean, I don't know. If I'm

(16:26):
on foot, I'm not overly patient with this team. These players,
this selection of players outside of vander Kine have been
here how long under how many coaches and it's the
same results out of one Yeah, okay, up Stair, Sure,
but you're the head coach, right, so you're the one
in front of the mic. I don't think you should
baby these players anymore. These these coaches, they're so worried

(16:47):
about your.

Speaker 1 (16:48):
Hold on a second, you don't know what they're doing
behind the scenes.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
Yeah, but I don't care. If I'm a season ticket older,
I don't care what's happening behind the scenes. I want
to see what am I here.

Speaker 1 (16:57):
Whatever they're doing, it's not working.

Speaker 4 (16:58):
It's they brought the entire same team back and expected
different results.

Speaker 1 (17:02):
That's the problem. And that's not that's not Betterson's fault.
That's not better.

Speaker 3 (17:07):
Since this regime has ultimately brought the same team back
basically year over years since Benning left.

Speaker 4 (17:13):
This regime's got one playoff appearance in four years.

Speaker 1 (17:17):
It's not good. It's Benning, Jim. It is same as
Jim Benning. But I mean, I guess the biggest mystery
with all of this, I know we're over time, but
the biggest mystery is how do you get over one
hundred points? Like even the season ninety eight, we ain't
well eighty nine. But the strangest thing to me is

(17:38):
that the season where a lot of us me a
lot of people criticize them for the contract wasn't a
bad season. The end of it was bad, yeah, really bad.
One goal in the playoffs, and the second half of
the regular season wasn't all that great. He's still got
eighty nine points.

Speaker 3 (17:53):
He has figured out since that whole group went to
the All Star Game six Yes, that moment you're saying
going to the All Star Game was bad, Well that
was the point where since that time, since that time,
out of that and this is where the EP fans
that want to tell me it's only three games. It's
not three games. It's three games this season. But it

(18:16):
goes back since that All Star break. Remember that game
in Carolina. You can look at all the statistics from
that point on. They all fall off the cliff since
that time. Playoffs, regular season doesn't matter. Since that All
Star break. The key is to send your players to look.
Since that time, the coach is gone, one of the
players is gone.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
The other key, of course, is if somebody is up
performing everybody, he can't go in the top stopped on me.
I agree with.

Speaker 3 (18:46):
Tony. That's the Florida Panthers. I mean, yeah, they got injuries,
but they don't have like like, let's be honest, the
old tour around the thing. It's really great for Keith
for sure, not great for your team. Remember it's not great.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
But somebody's forming your highest paid players, they get a promotion.
It would work that way in every business. But you're
sitting there, you want you You think Peterson should talk
talk to the media. You think that Adam Foot should
criticize his players. Why wouldn't you want Keif for Surewood

(19:19):
in your top six when he's outperforming everybody. You're like,
so the key is to say the right things to
the media. No, I think you're I think you're both right.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
Don't come on talk show here you are because you're
right in what you were saying that based on merit,
he should get promoted, yes, but ultimately the structure of
the team, like Rick saying, that's not a good one.
Broad here to be an energy guy. Exactly why you
got won five.

Speaker 1 (19:44):
Exactly, soph he's outperforming everybody to say, no, sorry, sad, sad,
it's a sad reflection, but it's reality and it's a promotion.
It's a move that would happen, not just in any
in the world of sports, any business. Somebody's up performing
somebody like you know, I tell you like there's been

(20:05):
a couple you know what we need to fills in
for Derek. I mean I don't know. Yeah, you know,
like brought.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
Here too when you're in my you're up performing me. Yeah, okay,
we're way over a.

Speaker 1 (20:23):

Yeah, and Christmas around the corner, so make make it three.
And hey, listen, we've talked a lot on this show
about how when you're doing your talk show on KGr
Sports Radio, oftentimes you won't talk about the meritis because
the interest hasn't been out there. This is only there's
six playoffs for playoff appearance. Ever, what about now.

Speaker 7 (23:05):
I mean, the city's on fire, It's it's crazy, Donnie.
I mean, you know, in the past, it's you know,
forty nine years, this is playoff appearance six. So you
have to have that context. I think for folks that
don't understand, you guys understand, you've been You've watched it
from afar and and it's been tough for Mariner fans.
It really has been. In a lot of years. We
get to September and the you know, the calendar changes,

(23:27):
it turns into football season NFL in college, and we
move on. The last few years they've been at least
in it in September, and then obviously this year getting
in for the first time in three years and only
the second time in the last twenty four years, are in,
but not only the end. I mean obviously, what they're
doing is you know, for this franchise, historical, just being
two wins away from getting to their first ever World Series.

(23:49):
I mean, listen, we joke about it all the time,
like we all know the Canucks haven't won a Stanley Cup.
But you've been there. You know, you've been there, You've
you've at least had a taste of the finals. This
is an organized that has never gotten past the Alcs,
and they're two wins away, and with the next three
at home, they're two wins away from getting there for
the first time. So you can imagine the city's just

(24:10):
having a ton of fun with it. A lot of
Mariner talk, a lot of enthusiasm. Everyone is and I
don't say this in a negative way, a lot of
people jumping on the bandwagon, which is great. You know,
I know there's some people in our business, oh you know,
or even fans. The Seahawks went through this in twenty
twelve and thirteen. Oh you're twelve since twelve, Who cares
you jump on enjoy it? So we're doing that right now.

Speaker 1 (24:32):
Okay, so I know the Jays are down to nothing,
I get that. But do you expect the usual influx
of Toronto fans Jays fans in Seattle for Games three
and four and maybe five?

Speaker 7 (24:45):
Well I don't think so, but only just because a
lot of the tickets for the playoffs you basically had
to buy like the script they call it, right, So
all the tickets all the way through. Now you can
make a lot of your money back, obviously by selling
a game or two along the way. The game that
they would you know, more than likely that makes sense
to sell would be tomorrow, like because it's not a

(25:06):
clinching scenario Like I wouldn't think that would if they
win tomorrow. I can't imagine many Jay's fans in the
stands on Thursday. But I don't know. I don't. I
don't worry about it a lot of people do. I
think atmosphere is great. You know, it's like college football.
You know, when you play a college football game, there's
fans from visiting town and visiting cities. In Seattle, Seahawk

(25:27):
fans are notorious for taking over other stadiums. I think
it's fun. To me, I think it's fun. But I
know a lot of people get been out of shape
down here because the Blue Jays fans come down. I mean,
but you guys telling me, I mean, I feel like
I've got mixed reviews from how many Jay's fans are
Actually you know, is BC a Blue Jays province or not?
I mean, I work with a guy in Brett Festerling

(25:48):
on the Krack and Hockey Network. He's not a Jays fan.
He's a Mariners fan. I mean I hear you know,
from Farhan and others that aren't Jays fans. So you guys,
tell me how many Jay's fans are you hearing from
all the time.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
Well, keep in mind that Ian all of us have
been laid off byno companies at some point during our careers. Yes,
so I don't know for the best people to judge,
but no, not everybody's a Jays fan.

Speaker 7 (26:09):
I forgot about our friends that ring the bell. Yeah,
I have my apologies for that. Yeah, I know I
get that, And I think you know the other part
I've explained to people down here, you know, when they're
losing their mind, I said, I don't know if you
want to blame the folks up in British Columbia. They're
kind of tired of the Toronto centric world they live in.
Whether it's I did I did enjoy, I did really
enjoy yesterday. Some cutaways of the crowd and seeing people

(26:30):
wearing like Loston Matthews jerseys, like at least at least
that those people like they're used to what's going on
right now, playoff disappointment right like they're at least used
to it. They're like oh oh, it's just like MS.
We'll just be may I guess right, because it's the
same thing we're going to go through then one more.

Speaker 4 (26:45):
The combination of pitching and hitting is incredible. The M's
got four homers already in two games and their bullpen's
only giving up one run in nine innings. Like this
is not the Yankees the Blue Jays are playing anymore.
What a beautiful combination to have in a series like this.
They're doing it all Ricketts.

Speaker 7 (27:06):
For so many years we said what would happen if
the Mariners got to the playoffs with the rotation that
they have. And the funny thing is the rotation this year,
same names, same faces, same players. It just hasn't been
as strong in the regular season. Some guys were banged
up and injured. Some guys went through a couple of
little spells here and there, and some downtimes. But you know,

(27:27):
the thought of, wow, the best, maybe the potentially the best,
at least on paper, starting rotation in baseball getting into
the postseason would be a daunting task for an opponent,
and it's proven to be that way. The home runs
are interesting. There's a nerd stat out there that the
you know, the nerds, the baseball nerds, baseball guy we
like to call him, has and it tells you that
teams that hit a lot of home runs that are

(27:47):
dependent on home runs, and Seattle was number two, I believe,
behind only the Yankees. Now it's ironic the Yankees are out,
but Seattle was number two in terms of the run
the percentage of runs that came in the regular season
via the home run. But those teams traditionally have success
in the playoffs, and we're seeing that right now. You know,
you get to the playoffs, shorter bullpens, shorter rotations, better

(28:09):
pitching in theory, and so stringing together innings with hits
and runs and things like that. Playing a little bit
more small ball doesn't always translate for Seattle. They hit
the long ball. That's what they do. They do it well,
and they've proven that so far in the postseason. So
you know, everything you thought going in is proven to
be true. Great starting pitching, bullpen's been lights out, and
the fact that they hit long balls and hit home

(28:29):
runs has really translated to playoff success.

Speaker 4 (28:31):
All right, Seahawks be Jacksonville. Sure is nice when you
can get seven sacks on Trevor Lawrence. That's sure helps,
you know, and holding them to fifty nine yards rushing,
that's it. I mean, that defense was pretty good like yesterday.

Speaker 7 (28:46):
Rick, what a difference a week makes. I think a
week ago we're talking about what repino Seahawk defense. Baker
Mayfield just ripped them apart. And Mike McDonald is known
as a defensive coaching Good for him. He challenged these guys.
They're still missing some key guys with their spooning love
in the secondary. But they were great, you know, and
a lot of it came from I mean, the first
play of the game was a sack, and that was
a coverage sack. Trevor Lawrence had almost seven seconds to

(29:07):
throw and he sat back there in the pocket and
Byron Murphy finally got to him. And that was the
first of seven that you mentioned. They did a terrific job.
They'll give up some yards, but not you know, try
not to give up big chunk yards. Lawrence looked confused.
You don't win many football games going one for twelve
on third down conversions, but that's what Seattle did because
of that defense. And then you know, Sam darl made

(29:28):
plays when he had to. The pass at the end
of Barnard to basically kill the clock and get the
field goal to made it a two score game was massive.
You know, they still have to spread the ball around
a little bit more. We saw Cooper Cup getting the
en zone for the first time. Running the ball still
a challenge. But if the playoffs were to begin today,
the Seahawks would be the five seed in the NFC.
But it's a crowded NFC, like it is. Everyone's bunched

(29:48):
up there, like everyone is bunched up in the NFC
right now. But yeah, they they really bounced back. They'll
have a nice test on Monday. They play Monday Night
football against Houston, and the Texans have a good defense.
But maybe it's funny. I mean, Seattle just keeps winning
on the road, I mean the road Warriors and home
seems to be an issue. They're one and two at
home this year. But I'm beaten on the road. So
we'll see if they can maybe change that next week.

(30:09):
Although what we're hoping for we're hoping we have a
playoff closure before then, because that would also be Monday
Night would be Game seven of the ALCS. If the
Blue Jays are able to come back.

Speaker 1 (30:19):
And what a time for Seattle sports. You've got the
Mariners doing what they're doing, the Seahawks, the crack Runner
two and zero starting the season with wins over Anaheim
and Vegas. What's your early read on Lane Lambert's.

Speaker 7 (30:34):
Team favorites for the Cup? I think any question about that, right?
I mean I get to get to whatever more of a.

Speaker 1 (30:41):
Favorite than other teams.

Speaker 7 (30:42):
Yeah, listen, I wasn't even gonna go there today. Like
I wasn't even gonna go there. So has forty been
a scratch all three games? Or what's the story? Is
he is he out?

Speaker 1 (30:55):
Is he in?

Speaker 7 (30:56):
Is he in? Abbotsford? Where's he at right now? Okay?

Speaker 1 (30:59):
On the somewhere?

Speaker 7 (31:02):
Uh, listen, it's two games, but I can't emphasize how
big those were because of what's coming up. They start
a six game road trip back East tonight in Montreal.
It's the Canadians home opener, and then of the of
the six teams they see on the road trip, five
are playoff teams from last year. I mean, it's a

(31:22):
daunting trip. The only team it wasn't a playoff team
last year is Philadelphia. But they go back to back
Philly and Washington next week. I mean it's it's Montreal Ottawa,
Toronto for Hockey Night in Canada. You know that's, like,
I guess, a big deal. And then Monday Tuesday they
go Philly Washington and oh, just for good measure, hey,
on your way back after playing five teams, four of

(31:43):
which are playoff teams, why don't just swing on by
Winnipeg and take on the Jets before you come home
to take on mcjesus and the Oilers next Saturday. So
I mean it was We'll find out a lot more
in the next couple of weeks about this team, but
early returns are good. Decord has been phenomenal in goal.
He stole He stole Vegas game in the first period
and then they scored three seconds left in overtime. Jared McCann,

(32:05):
familiar name up North, Jared McCann might be familiar, scores
a game winner against against Vegas on Saturday. I said
home opener. Anaheim had seventeen shots on goal in the
first period in the home opener, so they two quality
wins Vegas. Getting a win over Vegas is huge and
we'll find out a lot I said a lot more
in the next couple days, but structure seems to be there.

(32:26):
Players are buying in. He's holding guys accountable, which is
really big I think as well. So we like what
we see so far.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
So much fun down there, Ian, Yeah, white Caps and
Lions are doing just fine, by the way, the other
team not so much. We're a little bit jealous. All
the best down there in Seattle.

Speaker 7 (32:45):
Hey, come on down, jump on the Mariner bandwagon. There's
plenty of room for you, two guys, all right, plenty
of room. And remember it has nothing to do with
Ontario Toronto or ring the bell anything like that, So
come on hang out with us.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
Yeah right, there's another company involved as well, but thanks, Ian.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
Shit it too many companies, that's right, that's the problem.

Speaker 1 (33:04):
Ian Fornesa, KGr Sports Radio and the Kraken Hockey Network.
We're gonna deal with the poll question. Next, Donian delay

the Waddling Dog today, Rick all.

Speaker 4 (34:07):
Right, Ryan, get her up the Waddling Dog. Pop Poll
question of the day, and it is very simple. Concerning
last night's game, what's the Canuck's biggest concern after three games?
EP forty's lack of production, the power play in efficiency,
lack of quality centers or relax It's only three games,
no surprise, your Peterson leading fifty five then comes relax

(34:30):
It's only three games, followed by lack of quality centers
and the power play elevenlve almost twelve hundred votes. It's
hopping it's spop, but it's not stopping on a Tuesday morning.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
Maybe a little overdone there with the lack of production
from Peterson and the lack of quality senators. He's in
that group. We've had some submission submissions in our B
side of the inbox regarding coaching as well, very very
early with Adam Foote, so I don't I don't know
if that's fair.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
We even got people tweeting no pictures of Peter de Boe,
I mean, my goodness, as a replacement. As a replacement,
that's how crazy and dumb.

Speaker 1 (35:07):
I haven't seen any of those connects Twitter.

Speaker 3 (35:11):
The Ryans brought up the board for crying out loud Peter.

Speaker 1 (35:16):
Exactly.

Speaker 4 (35:17):
If the Canucks make a change, the coaching change, it's
their built in guy man calling for a coaching I'm
not'mad these crazy nutbars on Twitter.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
The Canucks Twitter is the worst.

Speaker 4 (35:27):
Braiden Coots, Yes, Braiden Coots, what do you do?

Speaker 1 (35:29):
Don ten forty six averaging ten forty six ice time
lowest on the team. Understandably right, Yeah.

Speaker 4 (35:36):
Let's get him back to where he belongs. Seattle gets
a ton of Einstein captain that team World Juniors for Canada. Uh,
when's Teddy blueger back? They are really happy with Ratu
at the fourth line center position. So that tells me
Ratu killing penalties, good in the face offs, He's making
smart decisions.

Speaker 1 (35:55):
With the puck.

Speaker 4 (35:56):
If you're happy with Ratu in the four hole, Bluega
comes back, what do you do, Coots? Get get the
kid back to Seattle. Let him play a ton of
hockey and be a leader like he is. He's been
a great story, yes, but let's let's get this.

Speaker 1 (36:08):
He's been great period. Oh he's been great given the
expectations and.

Speaker 4 (36:13):
A great, great draft pick.

Speaker 1 (36:16):
And you mentioned rat Tu uh he Baines and sure,
what was the best that was their best line last night?
And what does that say? What does that say? Who
is the guy says that they were their best line? Donny?

Speaker 4 (36:26):
But it's not good for the Canucks when that's the
best line? Is who is the guy?

Speaker 1 (36:30):
In Detroit?

Speaker 4 (36:30):
Tortorella said, David Booth, Hey, David Booth was our best player.
Great for him, not great for us.

Speaker 1 (36:37):
But what are you going to do about it? Oh?

Speaker 4 (36:39):
You get the other guys going who should be the
best players?

Speaker 1 (36:42):
Okay, we have time for to hear from Quinn Hughes.
We do all right, Quinn Hughes. In A lot of
talk about whether he's happy in Vancouver. There's been a
lot of losing his contract runs out at the end
of the next season and all that. Here he is
at the end of last night's game five to two

(37:04):
loss to the Saint Louis Blues, and I got to say,
three games in, but he already, like a lot of
people surrounding, including fans, like a lot of people surrounding
this organization, he sounds frustrated.

Speaker 5 (37:19):
I mean, if I had the answer, you know, I
would capitalize on had a goal and assist. But I
don't know where the break up such a problem.

Speaker 1 (37:29):
I don't know, just probably need more communication.

Speaker 4 (37:31):
Yeah, yeah, that's short and terse. You know that's not good, Donny,
what he's given answers that short.

Speaker 1 (37:41):
And you know what, he's wearing his heart on his sleeve.
He's a competitor. What he's been just fine. I know
some people are saying, oh, Quinn Hughes, it is not
exactly you know, lighting it up offensively, But man, you
notice him out there and he's he, like I said,
wears his heart on his sleeve on and off the ICEA.
I think that's that's where it comes from. But you

(38:01):
just got happy birthday. By the way, as we mentioned earlier,
his twenty sixth birthday, he just wondered what his frustration
level is like high and how and how he doesn't
see any if indeed, he doesn't see any promise for
the future with this organization short of Braiden Coots and
the possibility of drafting Gavin McKenna.

Speaker 4 (38:20):
If they go down to the McKenna route. Don don't
laugh because this is what you say is calling for that.

Speaker 1 (38:27):
Listen to me.

Speaker 4 (38:28):
If they're going for the top draft pick, Quinn's gone.
But what they're going to try, I believe in my heart,
is try to make a trade to make things better.
But here's the problem.

Speaker 1 (38:37):
Done.

Speaker 4 (38:37):
Are they going to panic and overpay for a second
line center? Very what's the second line center going to cost?

Speaker 1 (38:43):
Don?

Speaker 3 (38:44):
High draft picks, high prospects.

Speaker 1 (38:46):
And you know what Coots or Vlander might be going.

Speaker 4 (38:49):
The Coots is untouchable. You do not touch that kid.
That guy is untouchable. Don, But Lakara MACKI will Lander.
You want to cough up these guys another first round pick.
Go look at the twenty twenty four draft for the Canucks.
They will not yield a player from that draft in
the NHL because they traded the first three picks.

Speaker 1 (39:07):
That's bad. That's bad. And you know what, so you
build through the draft and yeah, trade and yet you
think that you know, rebuilding and you know, maybe going
for Gavin McKenna. Is it crazy? Idea? Stop?

Speaker 4 (39:22):
The president's gone. If they rebuild, Hughes is gone.

Speaker 3 (39:25):
Think people like that.

Speaker 1 (39:27):
Sorry, but the President's not selling tickets.

Speaker 4 (39:29):
Okay, So so last fourteen years, two playoff appearances. Now
you want to do a rebuild, go ask Buffalo how
they're doing on the rebuild. Fourteen years gone without the playoffs?

Speaker 1 (39:40):
Okay, yeah, but what what is?

Speaker 3 (39:41):
But what are a lot of Buffalo fans talk about
dysfunction from who town?

Speaker 1 (39:46):
Well, yeah, they got ownership issues there, same owners as
the Buffalo Bills. Yeah, but the Buffalo owner's wife was
she was involved too as well a little bit too much,
they said, involved in the operations. So how issues too?
I know, I know that.

Speaker 3 (40:01):
But before I'll be honest though, I think that Buffalo
owners too involved with the Bills. Like I'm shocked they
are where they are. I watched Hard Knocks with the Bills,
but Google was on the sidelines the entire training camp,
next to coach. That's what owners, right, don't get out here.
Let the coaches and the gms do their thing.

Speaker 1 (40:16):
Man, why are you although the Colts are going through
that right now and they're having a pretty pretty good season,
yeah so far. But I just you know, you you
talk to me and you think it's crazy that I've
been talking like this about about rebuild. And there's most
teams that win the Stanley Cup have a lot or
at least one or two high draft picks. Florida Aeronic bled,

(40:39):
There's there's a lot there, and they might be a
bit of an exception. Maybe they've traded.

Speaker 4 (40:44):
Well the exactly, there's a lot of that had high
draft picks. They were junk for years.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
Florida doesn't stand up. Look at Florida's main players, all
of their main players, Marshawn, Ryan Hart, Barkov's their guy,
ebys their guy.

Speaker 4 (40:59):
They trade Browsky, they got Ryan Hart to trade, They
got ka Chuck through trade, They trades.

Speaker 1 (41:05):
I think these guys are capable of doing that.

Speaker 3 (41:07):
Here, well, trading with what and here's another Well, no
it's a visious circle.

Speaker 1 (41:12):
They got nothing to trade. Okay, I'm sorry. I've been
around since nineteen seventy with his team. Okay, I go
back to the Western Hockey League. Try something different. It's
not working.

Speaker 3 (41:23):
It hasn't been working for fourteen years.

Speaker 1 (41:25):
They got to a Stanley Cup final with a couple
of guys who are pretty good, pretty good high draft
picks twenty two and thirty three. Kessler was a good,
good first round draft pick.

Speaker 4 (41:33):
And have fun with this. This owner signing off on
on a rebuild.

Speaker 3 (41:38):
That's wrong. They do it. He will check us.

Speaker 1 (41:40):
Trevor Lindon, you're wrong.

Speaker 4 (41:42):
Trevor Lindon sat him down and said, you need a rebuild.
Benning said, I'll fix it in two years. Who do
the owners who.

Speaker 1 (41:48):
Do like you're defending it? No, but I bet I
kind of agree with Rick.

Speaker 3 (41:52):
He's not going to sign off on a rebuild.

Speaker 1 (41:54):
You're almost resigned to it now.

Speaker 3 (41:56):
He's going to be down to nine thousand fans a game.

Speaker 1 (41:59):
Then what we're talking thinking about is the definition of insanity. Oh,
you keep doing the same thing over and over and
expect a different results.

Speaker 3 (42:05):
No, No, they expect they want to playoff dates Now,
this has been my criticism for a long time that
go left. You don't hear Stanley Cup. With this organization,
you hear playoffs. That's wrong, that's wrong. You're supposed to
be winning a title, not making the playoffs. Who cares
if you make the playoffs that you player doesn't go
into all the famous goes, Hey you made the playoffs
eight times they go, you got two rings. That's what you.

Speaker 1 (42:26):
And the other thing you should do is when some
player on the third or fourth line is outperforming players
in the top six, keep them in the third and fourth.
You're getting a lot of love for that. All the
all these are the keys. Keep doing the same thing
over and over again. Don't rebuild, you don't promote the
players that are utperforming everybody else. It's all good, good,

(42:47):
This is.

Speaker 3 (42:49):
Right behind them, baseide Ocean Front, Brazilian Books.

Speaker 1 (42:51):

of things that went viral over the weekend that that
are food related items. Well, first of all, we just
got to mention because I'm going to talk about the
Mariners in a second, and and a food item at
T mobile, but we should you guys talk to for nest,
but it needs to be mentioned. Mariners up two oh

(45:24):
on the J's last night, ten three victory Mariners over
the J's in Toronto.

Speaker 1 (45:29):
So there's that.

Speaker 3 (45:30):
First of all, Rick's very quiet today about that whole situation.

Speaker 1 (45:34):
Yeah, Mariner's color ishn't it. Yeah, that's interesting. You're pivoting.

Speaker 4 (45:37):
No, I'm not pivoting after Friday, wearing a team out
after two games.

Speaker 3 (45:42):
No.

Speaker 4 (45:42):
No, the last time I checked, it wasn't a two
game series. It's a seven game series.

Speaker 1 (45:46):
Three, three and twenty five teams.

Speaker 3 (45:48):
Of I am very well aware of the numbers.

Speaker 1 (45:50):
Two to ozho in a best of seven.

Speaker 4 (45:52):
Yeah, lots of Canadians get down there.

Speaker 3 (45:56):
If that, that'll be such an indictment on Mariners fans.
If there's a jails fans, that'll be such a bad look.
If it's I know you can if they buy tickets,
they buy tickets, but you can't buy tickets. It was
sold out, so you'd have to be the secondary market.
And look at I know everyone's looking for paydays nowadays,
and if you have a ticket, I understand that, but
then you should turn in your fan card because it

(46:18):
shouldn't all be dollars and cents.

Speaker 1 (46:19):
Man.

Speaker 3 (46:20):
All you scream about is how little success the Mariners
have had. They're finally in a big moment. And if
you're gonna flip that for to make a nice profit,
which I know there's a lot of money involved, that's
weak now. Tomorrow ALCS first game in Seattle, Game three,
the Mariners have announced. This is Curtesy the MLB on Twitter.
The Mariners have announced a new huckle nut canoli exclusively
for the ALCS.

Speaker 1 (46:40):
October is the best sports month going, and you're going
with the huckle nut canoli.

Speaker 3 (46:45):
Because I have another food item I want to get to,
but I wanted to show. This's a million stories out there.

Speaker 1 (46:50):
What is this? Jeez? What is it?

Speaker 3 (46:52):
It's made with rosemary scented ricotta canoli shells, filled then
with huckleberry sweet cream, toasted hazel nuts and drilled in
smoke huckleberry caramel.

Speaker 1 (47:05):
What is a huckleberry? By the way you're drolling right now?

Speaker 3 (47:07):
Is the huckleberry in like the BlackBerry category raspberry?

Speaker 1 (47:11):
I know it's a berry obviously. Yeah. I don't think
I've ever had a huckleberry. I've had a goldenberry. Who's
the huckle that huckleberry is named after? I remember kid? Yeah,
but there was also a Huckleberry Hound cartoon.

Speaker 3 (47:25):
Yeah, I know you would like a comic strip or
like huckleberry.

Speaker 4 (47:31):
It's a small edible berry from a shrub in the
family of anyways with found in North America.

Speaker 1 (47:40):
I remember Kramer baking a huckleberry pie Seinfeld.

Speaker 3 (47:45):
Yes, I remember the only reason they used.

Speaker 1 (47:47):
Huckleberry is because it sounds totally it's related to blueberries.

Speaker 4 (47:51):
It's not far. It's the blueberry family.

Speaker 3 (47:53):
So anyway, I'm telling you right now. But as Rick says,
Rix part this up before. So why are you like
you're wedged in right? Because you be sold out? Your
wedged in barely any room, and you're gonna want to
chow down on this thing in a baseball.

Speaker 1 (48:07):
Game eating this? I don't understand people, what are you
talking about? Who would.

Speaker 3 (48:13):
That's baseball food, hot dog beer.

Speaker 1 (48:16):
I'd rather eat what's in this versus a hot dog, hot.

Speaker 4 (48:21):
Dogs and baseball and Beard who.

Speaker 1 (48:24):
Goes to a game saying berry. They're changing things up. Look,
we were at what was safe go back in the
day t mobile now eating crickets.

Speaker 3 (48:34):
I know that was a big thing for a while. Yeah,
the garlic fries. Of course, the tradition down there, which
you're disgusting. But the reason I brought this up is
because of what the sharks are doing. You guys, see
what the Santurday sharks are doing. No, no, they're there.
It's called the chum bucket. Okay, this is what is
being offered up. This features buttery popcorn, strawberry pop tarts,

(48:55):
teal chocolate, red chocolate, and freeze dry strawberries. So think
a big souvenir bucket of popcorn, but featuring a whole
bunch of other stuff inside of it. Yeah, it's like
people that put their m and ms inside of popcorn.

Speaker 1 (49:10):
What's the first thing you think of when you think
of chum other than radio spongebobum radio. No, I think
of John's I've never seen John. Royce Scheiter was feeding
chum to the the sharks in there. Yeah, yeah, you
gotta take shark came out. No, no, the shark came up.
It was the first time you saw the shark's head.
So he died or didn't die. He didn't die. Royce

(49:32):
Schier has passed away, but he didn't I mean in
the movie. Yeah, I mean captain Quin did. Okay, and
Connor Garland could tell you all about that. He loves
he named his kid after the captain. That's right anyway.
And that's a little food update for Big rather the
Twitter guy today. That's what I had that I.

Speaker 3 (49:48):
Found stories and you're going no, because I was gonna
talk about the white Caps. He always flips out at
me if I talk about the white No, I don't
because I boguarded apparently during this Yeah, we'd like to
talk about Okay, so you talk about in the eleven
o'clock hour, I was gonna talk. Go ahead, Muller, let's
do this.

Speaker 1 (50:05):
Let's do it now, because I don't know how much
time we're gonna have given all the submissions we have
in the base side.

Speaker 3 (50:11):
In Derek hit the highlight from the white Caps in
Orlando on the weekend. I said, I wasn't gonna have anything,
but here, here you go, Derek on the weekend. White
Caps at the death, as they say in soccer, Thomas Mueller.
I mean, this guy is just unbelievable. Boom back of
the net. They get the win, They get the full
three points. They were down one nail late, sizzling in Orlando. Yeah,

(50:32):
and I believe YESPA said they were looking for a draw.
They were hoping for a draw, so they but they
instead they get the full three points. They're in the
top of the Western Conference now the Vancouver white Caps are.

Speaker 1 (50:42):
They're that top seed.

Speaker 3 (50:45):
They have one one match left, yes, yeah, one match,
get down us at home, right, the decision day, decision,
this decision decision day, as the kids or whatever. The
white Caps, by the way, we should mention they've scored
ninety three goals this season across all number one league,
the most in one season dating back to nineteen seventy four,

(51:06):
the start of the franchise, ninety three goals at Empire
with benches exactly exactly. So it's it's just unbelievable. They're
unbeaten since Mueler got here, and it's been in the
white Caps.

Speaker 4 (51:17):
Lost star player doing stars. Imagine that, Like, no, it's
so true. And look, we'd spend a lot of the
first segment. They're gonna spend a lot of the show
talking about the Canocks struggles. But what the white Caps
are doing is insanely impressive. They deserve a lot of
eyeballs going to the postseason, and the Lions are right
behind them. Lions control their destiny. Uh, they got a
big game against the Elks coming up this weekend.

Speaker 1 (51:38):
They Controlkatchewan.

Speaker 3 (51:40):
They could host the playoff game because host the semi year.

Speaker 1 (51:42):
Yeah, mean, you wouldn't have seen three, four weeks, four
or five weeks.

Speaker 3 (51:46):
No, exactly. Well, and as Rick brings up all the time.
The record should be better than what it was. But
the Lions let the game slip away in Ottawa, right Yeah.

Speaker 1 (51:54):
And the Hamilton game.

Speaker 3 (51:55):
They blew about three games in the last minute.

Speaker 1 (51:57):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (51:57):
Well, I mean, look at they got thumped in Toronto
and they never We sure have got thumped in Toronto either.

Speaker 1 (52:01):
But it might have been a blessing in disguise.

Speaker 3 (52:03):
Yeah, no doubt, no doubt. But I pressing stuff from
the white Caps on the weekend. One final game. You're
right Dallas on decision Day. Up next from TSN our
good pal Jamie mcclennan, Sonny Dolly, the team I Check.

(53:12):
Thanks for doing this, sir.

Speaker 8 (53:13):
How are you not too bad? How you doing today?

Speaker 3 (53:17):
Good?

Speaker 1 (53:17):
Well? Cannucks lose to the Blues, so they've started out
one and two and I tell you, Jamie, people weren't
happy with with last night. They're not happy with the
start of the season here in Vancouver. Uh, zero for
seven on the power play to start, They're not getting
shots on goals. There's a lot there to be concerned about.
Do you understand that.

Speaker 8 (53:38):
I do because I watched the game yesterday, and you know,
one of the concerning things is, you know, it's easy
to just circle your top players and go you need
more from them. But that is the truth. You know,
when when people are getting paid a lot of money
and you're searching to find them in the lineup, that's tough,
you know. I I was sitting with a couple former

(54:00):
NHL players and we were talking about players throughout the league,
the guys who make the money, and they were saying, Okay, well,
you know you Vancouver plays Edmonton the other night. You know,
dreysid on McDavid are everywhere like they make the most
the team. You can see them, right, they make the
you know, every every shift that you can notice them.
Top players are Vancouver outside of Quinn Hughes. I know

(54:21):
is Quinn Hughes. Every time I think he you know,
I think Quinn Hughes is a guy that Yeah, listen,
he didn't have a great, great day yesterday. I call
it great night, but I think it was an afternoon game.
But they all got to mix together. But I didn't
have a great day. It was minus three, but he
did have five shots on goal. You can I at
least notice him. Peterson not so much like I. You know,
and I don't know. I'm sure it's a hot button

(54:43):
topic for you guys, but I expected Eleas Petterson to
be I just just a couple turned the clock back
a couple of years ago where he was a force
every night. His shot was threatening, his vision was threatened,
you know, his his smarts was threatening. That that was

(55:04):
that's the type of guy. When you get paid that
type of money, you go. That's what I expect every night.
You may not go in the net, it may not
you may not have a great night, but you at
least notice him. I honestly, in watching Vancouver's games, I
didn't notice him. I haven't noticed him being a difference
maker in a positive way. And that's really concerning. And
that kind of bleeds through the lineup. When I'm the

(55:24):
most noticeable guys are Shorewood and Harnter Garland Hunt of Garland,
I every every shift, I notice him.

Speaker 1 (55:31):
Yeah. Rick Talkett often complained publicly about Eleas Peterson, especially
last year, not moving his feet. What are you seeing
from that point of view this time around?

Speaker 8 (55:44):
Well, you know when guys kind of it's all right
for a forward to get lost, we call it lost
in coverage, right, they get they get lost in the ice,
they find a little hole, they jump in and away
you go. But you know that's not his game. And
if that is his game, then he needs somebody to
play with to get him the puck. You know, I
look at I live in Toronto, so everybody talks about

(56:07):
William Nielander. Kneelander is a guy that's on the outside,
but he springs for breakaways. He's got a great shot.
When he does move his feed, he's impactful, right because
he's strong on the puck. I think Patterson is that
type of player as well, where you know, he needs
to be threatening with his shot. He needs to use
his speed or at least his quickness agility to find holes.

(56:30):
But if he's not playing with somebody, or somebody's not
getting him the puck, then it comes back to the
word getting lost. And that's not a good thing. When
when you're getting lost because you're not involved in the play,
you're trying to find holes, You're trying to find places
where the puck is going to go, and it doesn't
go there. You just become you know, these are harsh words,

(56:50):
but useless in the play. And you know he needs
to find a way to, you know, either support the
play and come up with it, use his speed, use
his smart I've always thought that, you know, he had
a really good high IQ brain for the game, thought
the game well. And you know, I just feel like
when I see top players struggle, I see them thinking

(57:11):
on the ice instead of reacting, and you know, that's
kind of what I'm seeing with him, Jamie.

Speaker 4 (57:17):
A couple of weeks ago, you mentioned Thatcher Depko possible
Vezna candidate. You said, look at his start. He was
great in Edmonton. He should have been Stars one, two
and three. He's clawed his way back into that American
talk for the Olympic team.

Speaker 1 (57:32):
But what about his start?

Speaker 4 (57:34):
Just you can't ask for two better starts from my
Dempco unbelievable.

Speaker 8 (57:39):
I mean, Calgary didn't throw a ton at him, but
he made that breakaway save. But I believe it was
on Coleman. You know, great right pad recovery with it.
That Edmonton game was eight one. That wasn't whatever. That
was an end up three to one, Like that was
an eight one game. McDavid and dry Suttle both had
ten bel chances on the back door that Thomas shek

(58:01):
he should still be sitting in his gear there in
the slot because he had about four or five chances
on Demco. Demko has been brilliant. He has been one
of the shining stars you know in watching these games?
Does it concern me because you know I expected more
of the Canucks, I really did. I expected them to have,
you know, be more like the team two years ago,

(58:22):
a real threat, a threat in the Pacific. I don't
think they've found their game yet, but you know there's
a lot of teams that can say that they're they're
not in the same you know, they're not by themselves.
But I haven't loved their game. I haven't loved their
team game. I haven't loved their top players outside like
I love Quinn Hughes. I think even if Hughes has
an off night, you can see he's still trying. But

(58:45):
I just Demko has been brilliant and if he continues
that type of play, you can't play every night. I
know Lanken had to play yesterday, but you know, if
he gives you at least an opportunity to win every night.
He damn near stole that game in Edmonton. Like legitimately,
I thought that was going to be a stolen game
because they were just barely getting stuff by him, and

(59:05):
it took traffic and you know, a little bit of
luck on Edmonton's side to finally get breakthrough on him.

Speaker 4 (59:11):
Boy, I never thought I'd say this, but I feel
for Buffalo sabers Vans. No playoffs in fourteen years, you've
started out owing three.

Speaker 1 (59:19):
My are they looking at.

Speaker 3 (59:21):
I mean, what's going on there?

Speaker 1 (59:23):
How do you fix that mess?

Speaker 8 (59:25):
The unfortunate part is, you know it starts at the top.
You've got, you know, fourteen years without the playoffs. God
love Kevin Adams. I mean, there's been some moves where
you scratch your head, you know, because you're going, okay,
I understand it, and people are going all the way
back to the medical staff not getting a second opinion
for Jack Kill and Jack Chel saying get me out

(59:46):
of here. I mean that was some of the beginning
of the end right there. But you know, you look
at the players and I think there's again I'm not
as active on Twitter. I love reading it, but it's
there are some things where there're players like you look
at the stats of guys that have moved on from
Buffalo yea and gone on like me make it build
a Stanley Cup winner. Basically some of the players that

(01:00:08):
you know have gone on to win Cups and and
be integral parts of their organization. I've said this all along.
They have a bunch of good players. There's some really
good players on that roster. Something is it's a culture thing,
it's an organizational thing. And then you know, it's systematic,
it's coaching, it's everything all under one umbrella. And you

(01:00:31):
know you trade Dylan Cousins for Josh Norris. Josh Norris,
I believe. I read the stat that has played four
games for the Buffalo Sabers total, and two of them
he's been heard in. So I really feel for Josh.
He's a wonderful human and a great player. But you
know you had to take a look at his medical
history before trading for him. You just it's unfortunate everything

(01:00:52):
that happens in Buffalo goes the wrong way. And they've
got some great players that they've got to make a
decision or Alex Tuck has to make a decision depending
on restrictive free agent. Like I say, they got some
good players there, but they you know, I would argue
that it's Kevin Adams that's probably on thin ice. Now
you got Yarmo, keck a line and kick on there.
But Yarmo, you know, Yarmo built Columbus, but he didn't

(01:01:15):
build them into a perennial wet winner. I think Yarmo's
an unbelievable judge of talent, but I don't know his
track record for manager is I think average at best.
So you know, we'll see if he's the guy who
takes over. But they certainly need something to jar that
organization in a positive way.

Speaker 1 (01:01:32):
And Jamie Laine Hudson extends in Montreal eight years AAV
of eight point eighty five. A lot of people, you hear,
think that's a little bit low the AAV. Does that
sound about right though? Eight years eight eight five per.

Speaker 8 (01:01:46):
I said to a Canadians fan this morning, I said,
you know, one year in the league, yes, rookie of
the year and projects to be a real special player.
But they just made you know, gave him generational wealth, right,
and he's going to be able to young enough to
sign another huge extension after that. Yeah, probably three or four,
maybe three years in he's gonna seem like a massive bargain.

(01:02:06):
I did the Ottawa Nashville game yesterday. I keep looking
at Jake Sanderson on term at seven point eight and going, man,
that's a deal like this. They've got Autawa their highest
grade players eight point twenty five and Tim stutslow and
that's they've got all their core on term. So I
think what you're gonna see, and maybe this is just
my opinion but in the next little bit, probably in

(01:02:29):
the next two years, you're going to see the salaries
get out of whack as the cap really shoots up.
So you're gonna you know, people are talking about the
Caprice off deal being the outlier, but you know there
is gonna be guys that jump up. So the guys
that are on term right now, the Mitch Marners and
Ranton and and Echel and all those guys who signed
for you know twelve will call it in that area

(01:02:52):
are going to be bargains in a couple of years.
But in same with Lane Hudson. I think the deal
was really good for both both because Hodgson gets a
real big payday, but they're also going to have a
value contract in the next couple of years when the
cap is at one hundred and thirty million, we'll call
it in four years.

Speaker 1 (01:03:12):
Jamie, thanks for this and belated Happy Canadian Thanksgiving.

Speaker 3 (01:03:15):
Appreciate it.

Speaker 8 (01:03:17):
Thanks thanks for having me guys with that too.

Speaker 1 (01:03:20):
No problem. Jamie Clinton Noodles from TSN doesn't like what
he sees when he watches the Canucks. Their star players
aren't star players at this point. Other than Quinn's accurate
I couldn't agree with him more as people who follow
me on Twitter know about Garland and sure they've been outstanding. Okay,
break pull question next Donnie Delay the team on.

Watdling Dog poll question in the wake of the Canucks
one and two start five to two loss to count
or make that a five to two loss to Saint
Louis yesterday, experience one of Victoria's iconic destinations. We're talking
the waddling Dog. Sponsors of our poll questions, sleep sip,
stock up all in one legendary spot. Come sit and
stay at the dog today, Rick Ryan, get her up

(01:04:51):
to the Waddling Dog Poll question of today, what's the
Canucks' biggest concern after three games?

Speaker 4 (01:04:57):
Patterson, the power play, quality centers. They're or relax, it's
only three games, fourteen hundred votes. It's happened, no surprise,
h ellis Patterson's lack of production one assist in three games,
leading the way at fifty five percent. Then comes relax.
It's only three games, and I.

Speaker 1 (01:05:16):
Think people would be okay with one assist. I mean,
you know, Quinnhughes point total isn't all that great right now,
but you notice him and his effort level is is
un questioned. People would be okay with one assist. But
besides what we're seeing five shot in three games, two shots.

Speaker 4 (01:05:38):
Overall, Rick two shots overall. What Donny doesn't look dangerous
like I keep seeing this. When star players and other
teams cross the blue line, they look dangerous. McKinnon is
yesterday in Buffalo. My goodness, what a goal. You know,
a dry citle uh and McDavid they look dangerous. This guy,
when he crosses the blue line doesn't look dangerous. Be

(01:05:58):
a difference maker. That's all people in the city want
you to be. At your salary be a difference maker.

Speaker 3 (01:06:04):
That's it.

Speaker 4 (01:06:05):
No one's no one's wishing anything bad on the kid.
Start producing, don't.

Speaker 1 (01:06:12):
I don't think it's gonna happen.

Speaker 4 (01:06:14):
You don't know that he could go nuts in Dallas, Dad, Donnie,
I could get five points on Thursday.

Speaker 3 (01:06:18):
You don't know that he could break up. But we
don't know that.

Speaker 1 (01:06:21):
But up till now, what what do you base that on.

Speaker 4 (01:06:25):
It's in the season. He could have a hell of.

Speaker 1 (01:06:28):
A game, With all due respect, I just don't, you know,
I don't see the past season. I don't see it
going back to the end of the season before that,
when and when they had a heck of a season
and went to playoff playoff rounds. Just there, there hasn't
been a lot and I and again, I'll say what
I said in the first segment for people who missed it.
I'm getting to a point now where I think, as

(01:06:50):
a fan, I we talked about is he going to
start getting booed? And some people say that Louis Erickson God,
but I don't know. I do remember lou I you know,
I stand it stand to be corrected there. I just
think there's gonna be indifference when it comes to Eliz Peedterson,
and I think people are gonna almost start to feel
sorry for the guy. He's not that the problem is

(01:07:10):
the contract. That why what did they see that they
would give him all? He's still the eighth highest player
in the league, in the league, I just don't get
it well with these guys who know way more about
hockey than we do. We think, what what what what
exactly were they seeing?

Speaker 4 (01:07:25):
It's Rutherford, he runs the ship. It was his call
in partnership with the owner to resign Petterson.

Speaker 1 (01:07:30):
Bottom line, Yeah, it's it's really really Uh, it's tough
to watch. And now you hear uh and again I
know it's it's three games, and now you hear people
going they make the right choice with the coach. That's
too early. That that's that, that's that's way too early.

Speaker 4 (01:07:47):
The coach is different because it's new systems. Three games,
it's new systems. I want to I want to see
when Foot, if Patterson continues to struggle, when Foot asides
to call him out publicly, because last night he had
a chance to call out every one in the top six,
he didn't do it.

Speaker 1 (01:08:07):
Yeah, very early, So I can I can understand that
from Adam's point of view, I think too. Yes, yesterday
you saw him switch the second line for the first
and second line Centerce. You know he'll moved with the
Brusk and Besser, that's right, right, Peterson with Caine and Garland.
So there's I wonder when maybe there's a point where

(01:08:30):
although the depth really isn't there offensively, no, not at all.
You could have seen Peterson move down the lineup.

Speaker 4 (01:08:37):
Oh boy, you don't want to see that at him
making the money. He'll got more five on five, Louis
Eric said, done, He'll got more five on five Pedterson
last night. That's not right.

Speaker 1 (01:08:47):
But if Petterson was a fifth or sixth in terms
of time, fifth or six forward, that's not right. You
know that Garland had Garland Connor Garland last time I checked,
making a lot less money than Lias Petterson led the
knock forwards, and I led the Canucks in every game
for forwards.

Speaker 4 (01:09:02):
Garland and Peterson's got to be the highest guy on
that pole for ice time, he's your highest paid guy.
There should not be five guys getting more ice than
Elias Peterson.

Speaker 1 (01:09:14):
What pole?

Speaker 4 (01:09:15):
No that the poll for ice time? I said it wrong.
And you know what I'm talking about, Donny. He shouldn't
be the fifth or sixth highest guy for ice time,
for forwards. He should be number one. He should be
at nineteen twenty a game.

Speaker 3 (01:09:28):
And it's not.

Speaker 4 (01:09:29):
He's at fifteen last two. That's not good, according to
the poll. According to the poll.

Speaker 1 (01:09:34):
No, it's it's not. There's this, there's there's a lot there.
And Quinn Hughes looks frustrated. Happy birthday to him. I
don't know happy it is?

Speaker 3 (01:09:41):
Will you quit saying happy birthday. I got to do
birthdays and you're throwing my birthday under the bus?

Speaker 1 (01:09:46):
Okay?

Speaker 3 (01:09:47):
Oh, well I can't do Bird. I can't do Quinn
in the birthday?

Speaker 1 (01:09:49):
Is he can?

Speaker 8 (01:09:49):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:09:50):
I go, he still can't.

Speaker 3 (01:09:51):
How can I do quinnin birthdays? Well, you might have
told everybody. Everybody knows it's just might pull Ryan, he
might fall to you. Guys, I really want to hear
your clues. Not gonna do it now, I'm not because
you do off the board. Yeah, curios, I'm not going
to do it. You guys blew it.

Speaker 4 (01:10:06):
You You threw my birthday under the bus, and I'm
not gonna do it in birthdays.

Speaker 1 (01:10:10):
Well, I thought it was significant that the captain of
the Canucks has a birthday.

Speaker 3 (01:10:14):
How about saying that after birthdays?

Speaker 1 (01:10:16):
Yeah, and there's ten minutes left in the show at
that point, so happy birthdy. What does he mark on
that poll for.

Speaker 4 (01:10:25):
Quin's Eistein's always number one for defenseman. He's just a beautiful,
beautiful talent that Vancouvers got.

Speaker 1 (01:10:31):
Okay, you've got some uh business. We haven't talked about
the Blue Jays and Marin as much we did with
we did with and a big rye, which is clear.
I guess we did.

Speaker 4 (01:10:42):
Guerrero's gotta get going. Yeah, you can't be hitless.

Speaker 1 (01:10:46):
But we haven't talked about the tweets that we threw out,
at least I did on the on the weekend. You
stirred it up. You were active on your life. But
people think you're anti Canadian if you're not pulling for
the Jays here, and that's just that's just so.

Speaker 4 (01:10:59):
But if you're a good and you should be voting
for the Blue Jays, it's Canada's team. Sure, it's Canada's team.
Canada's team.

Speaker 1 (01:11:07):
Here, here's the thing I don't remember, and maybe I'm
being petty here.

Speaker 4 (01:11:11):
This is petty stuff on your behalf.

Speaker 1 (01:11:12):
I don't remember any all right, I don't remember. Let's
show your tweet.

Speaker 3 (01:11:18):
Let's sho show this tweet.

Speaker 1 (01:11:20):
This is a this is a few days. This is pettiness.
It makes me laugh when people say British Clubians should
pull for the Jays of the Maritors because it's anti
anti Canadian, not to Did anyone in Toronto want the
Cannucks to beat the Bruins in twenty eleven based on nationality?
Not a chance, not a chance. I remember watching a
report by Global or whoever from Real Sports. That's the

(01:11:46):
bar in Maple Leaf Square, and they went around asking
people during the twenty eleven Stanley Cup Final, who are
you pulling for? Everybody said Boston. And I know it's different.
There's seven NHL.

Speaker 3 (01:11:57):
Tas, thank you, thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:12:00):
I get that. But shouldn't you forget forget that? Shouldn't you,
based on being a proud Canadian have been pulling for
for Vancouver and you know what, I get it. I
would certainly not pull for the Leaf set. It's not
like a final, No way, no chance. I'd be jealous.

Speaker 4 (01:12:18):
Ninety three Joe Carter, A wonderful, beautiful day. How that
didn't translate for you is shocking to me. I'll tell
you why.

Speaker 1 (01:12:27):
I didn't translate for why because the Expos was still around. Oh,
I was and always will be a Montreal Expos fan.
They didn't transfer over to Washington Nationals. By the way, Yeah, exactly,
So I didn't really didn't hit me like a Blue
Jays Canada's team.

Speaker 4 (01:12:44):
The World Series is four wins away from coming up North,
and you're not going to jump on board Blue.

Speaker 1 (01:12:48):
Jays Canada's team. Mariners are BC's team. But that in your.

Speaker 4 (01:12:53):
No, no, no him the cheese lever, the US cheese lever. No,
he's going to vote for him. But I'm very surprised
to you.

Speaker 3 (01:13:00):
It's just the way everything on Terario just is eck
to me, Like the way they think that they run
our country, where the country revolves around Jays.

Speaker 1 (01:13:10):
Have a farm team in Vancouver. Yes, has that clicked
into your head? Being in this business doesn't help, But
there's that. There's the liking Toronto, like everybody's been treated
well and some in some cases not so well by
people in Toronto who run run the country. And then

(01:13:31):
you watch their national broadcasting. They didn't even care about
the oilers going to stand like the final last year
versus this.

Speaker 3 (01:13:37):
So this might be a reach to all these people
who say you're a bad Canadian for not supporting the
Blue Jays. How about all those proud Canadians in Toronto
that would rather support the Bills over the argos. How's
that look?

Speaker 1 (01:13:47):
Boom good?

Speaker 4 (01:13:48):
Good point No, no, no, there's one major league baseball
team in the country. Geez, let's vote for the American team.
That makes no sense, frye, no sense at all. It's
especially with their president and what their president's done.

Speaker 3 (01:14:02):
But that's you know, you can't take it to Tariffs
have cost a lot, a lot of Canadians jobs.

Speaker 1 (01:14:07):
Washington's a blue state, it's a text date.

Speaker 4 (01:14:11):
But his tariffs have cost and all this. Yes about
make a Canada and the US one country?

Speaker 3 (01:14:17):
Okay, won't talk.

Speaker 7 (01:14:19):
Guys.

Speaker 3 (01:14:20):
You lost his job because of that trump'siff.

Speaker 1 (01:14:23):
You lost a job because of people in Toronto.

Speaker 3 (01:14:25):
There's a Crown run.

Speaker 4 (01:14:28):
There's a Crown Royal factory shut down, and what about
those people that lost their job?

Speaker 1 (01:14:36):
Awful, yes, but you lost your job twice.

Speaker 3 (01:14:40):
So I hate this at the hands of people from Toronto.

Speaker 1 (01:14:42):
I hate care less about our industry Vancouver.

Speaker 3 (01:14:46):
I hate the suits as much as you.

Speaker 4 (01:14:48):
They have ruined Vancouver radio, they have ruined Vancouver TV,
and they have ruined newspapers in Vancouver. And yet, because
they're idiots, they own it in office in Toronto and
they don't care about Vancouver. There's three AM radio stations
of Vancouver that are dead silent because of these idiots
back east.

Speaker 1 (01:15:05):
And yet you they own this team. Dato Rogers does yes,
and you you're like, oh, you're the pomp poms. Those
stations are bell.

Speaker 4 (01:15:12):
It's the idiots a bell that put the Blue ten
forty out of the water dawn.

Speaker 3 (01:15:17):
It wasn't the other one. Past Time okay, pastime now yeah, all.

Speaker 4 (01:15:21):

hundred thousand dollars for that card. Ken in pastime will
pay one hundred grand for that card.

Speaker 1 (01:17:01):
Can't. Hughes and Jeff Gordon extended contracts today with the
Montreal Canadians. They've done it wasn't all them, but rebuilt Montreal.
Montreal's drafted very well. They've they named a show. The
rebuild is called Rebuild.

Speaker 3 (01:17:16):
You know right around here you couldn't even use that
with Corosky and Imoov and caw Fields.

Speaker 1 (01:17:23):
Heck, I go way back. Brandon Gallagher was a draft pick.
Yeah no, way not do that. Hudson draft pick lane
Yeah Lane, Yeah no, just yelling Hutson for no reason
at all. I don't know. DTMZ next shortened version. Donnie
Dolly the team on check.

Speaker 4 (01:17:42):

it is?

Speaker 4 (01:19:07):
Okay, look at this Tuesday, October fourteenth, six Birthdays brought
to you by Ryan Ricky D's PI Services and No
Frills Casino in Robo Saskatchewan.

Speaker 1 (01:19:18):
Rollo, Rollo, rollo.

Speaker 4 (01:19:20):
Hold on, let me write that down. Rollo as in rollo. Okay,
got it?

Speaker 3 (01:19:23):
Yes, No, I'm not going to do it. I spent
a lot of time. I spent a lot of time.

Speaker 1 (01:19:29):
You're gonna give Okay.

Speaker 4 (01:19:30):
The first one was this player began playing hockey as
a forward but switched to defense when he was thirteen.

Speaker 1 (01:19:35):
Every player who ever played, No, that's not true. That's
not true.

Speaker 3 (01:19:39):
I spent a lot of time on this, and you
guys got that was a clue that? What was the
second one?

Speaker 4 (01:19:46):
Then he set a record for most assists by a
Frenchman defensive defenseman.

Speaker 1 (01:19:51):
No, freshman, not frenchman. You did.

Speaker 3 (01:19:56):
I didn't say frenchman. Look, he said a record.

Speaker 4 (01:20:02):
He's not Frenchman. He's American. Set a record for most
assists by a freshman defenseman at the University of Michigan.
You wouldn't have got that.

Speaker 3 (01:20:11):
Well after the frenchman clue, No, you wouldn't have.

Speaker 4 (01:20:16):
I met freshman. Okay, let's go. Hey, this one's for you.
You better get ready. This fear tough guy played fifty
years ago. He had one hundred and thirty four fighting
Majors twenty eight.

Speaker 3 (01:20:25):
More.

Speaker 4 (01:20:25):
In the postseason, this player recorded a hit song called
the Penalty Box.

Speaker 1 (01:20:31):
Dave Schultz.

Speaker 4 (01:20:32):
Dave Schultz, Yeah, Oh, Dave Schultz, seventy four to seventy
five bros.

Speaker 1 (01:20:36):
He became commissioner of Like the INTERNATIONA he was, he was? Yeah.
His nickname was the Hammer. All right, that's for hockey though.

Speaker 3 (01:20:43):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:20:45):
This quarterback held more than twenty school records by the
end of his junior season at the University of California.
First overall pickm Rodgers. No, it was Golfer Rogers, first
overall pick in the twenty years tough Jaron Goarer, Yeah,
got it, Okay, get rid of the quarterbacks.

Speaker 1 (01:21:02):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:21:03):
This singer, This singer is forty seven today, sold over
one hundred million records worldwide. One of the best selling
music artists of all time. He headlined the Super Bowl
in twenty twenty four. He's been on the TV show
Voice the Weekend played a big part in finding Are
you guys serious?

Speaker 1 (01:21:21):
Huh? Adam Levine? Oh, you're gonna see Justin Bieber?

Speaker 3 (01:21:24):
No, Derek right, who are you gonna beat the Weekend?

Speaker 1 (01:21:27):
No? No, no, Well, what are you gonna say? Big
parton finding Biaber. Yeah, justin Bieber Usher Usher. Okay, how sad?

Speaker 3 (01:21:34):
How sad? That goes to show how memorable that halftime was.
I don't even know, man, how couldn't my the clues word?

Speaker 1 (01:21:39):
You know what's sad is that you think Quinn Hughes
is Fridge?

Speaker 4 (01:21:44):
I said, Freshman, stop it all right. This famous sportscaster
started his television career on the now defunct cable network
CNNSI in nineteen ninety nine. Currently makes around forty million
a year with ESPN and Serious X half XM.

Speaker 1 (01:22:00):
Even stephen A Smith, Ye, stephen A Smith.

Speaker 4 (01:22:05):
Last one, Jennifer Aniston's character Rachel Green worked for him
on the show Friends.

Speaker 1 (01:22:11):
Well Gunther No, no, no, no, oh yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:22:17):
This world of Calvin it no, it's not Calvin, Ralph
Ralph Lauren.

Speaker 1 (01:22:22):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (01:22:23):
Yeah, first full line of men'swear was Polo in nineteen sixty.
That's actually a really good clue.

Speaker 1 (01:22:29):
I gotta give him props.

Speaker 4 (01:22:31):
Put a lot of time into this. I put on
it takes a good forty forty five minutes to do this.

Speaker 1 (01:22:36):
Holy cow, people are impressed with that. Yeah, that's a
lot for a broadcast. What else?

Speaker 3 (01:22:42):
That's it?

Speaker 1 (01:22:43):
Oh, I want to have Quinn Hughes.

Speaker 3 (01:22:44):
But thanks to you guys, it's you know.

Speaker 1 (01:22:47):
What, It's kind of lucky you didn't. Actually we ended
up hearing hearing it anyway, just just very very quickly
before you play.

Speaker 3 (01:22:53):
So Cannuck's practice though, because Rixon brought this up, Teddy
bluegered he's on the ice along with po Joseph to
both in don Ontack jerseys though at practice so still
inttle ways, but.

Speaker 1 (01:23:03):
They're on the end.

Speaker 4 (01:23:03):
Now, keep an eye on Coots. They like Ratu in
fourth line center. If Blueger's back, keep an eye on Coots, we.

Speaker 3 (01:23:12):
Will the Frenchman.

Speaker 1 (01:23:15):
Let's stop.

Speaker 4 (01:23:16):
But I said, freshman, is it just.

Speaker 1 (01:23:18):
Me coming up? Cliff Richard eighty five years years old,
he's gonna play us out April seventy six in the
album I'm Nearly Famous and the Ititania soundtrack. This is
Cliff Richard and Devil Woman on chick where if a
song is good enough for Ititania, it's good enough for
Donnie and Dolly on a BC Tuesday Morning. Is it
just me x.

Speaker 3 (01:23:44):
Since the day I saw the cat?

Speaker 1 (01:23:50):
Is he just me?

Speaker 8 (01:23:51):
Go?

Speaker 1 (01:23:51):
All right?

Speaker 3 (01:23:52):
Sure?

Speaker 4 (01:23:52):
Without performing the top players and needing a promotion to
the top six works just like any other promotion in
any other job. Except in another job, the guy making
eleven point six would be fired for underachieving and never
heard from again. See the problem, Nicole, Maybe that'll happen
in Comox with a very intelligent, very good tweet. That
makes a lot of sense.

Speaker 1 (01:24:14):
So don't promote the person who's outperforming the player making
more money. Think.

Speaker 4 (01:24:19):
But the key is she's saying is in the real world,
the guy making eleven six would be fired.

Speaker 1 (01:24:24):
Okay, that's not happening. We've had a lot of people
make the point during that argument, like what if? What if?
That was the thinking when Alex Burrows was playing for
the Canucks. Yes, I mean he was the third fourth liner.
He was undrafted and he turned it into a one
the great Cannucks of all time. Games up on the.

Speaker 4 (01:24:40):
Raft looking for this one and now I lost it.

Speaker 1 (01:24:45):
Here we go. It is just me. This management team
is brilliant. Two years ago, they had a big, physical lineup,
fans loved them. If not for a Thatcher Dempco injury,
they possibly go all the way to the Stanley Cup Final.
Fast forward just two years now, the smallest team in
the end and very easy to play against. Brilliant.

Speaker 4 (01:25:03):
What a great signed, great text, Please sign those and
guess who leads the National Hockey League and hits? Don
Nikita's a door off. Nikita is the door off leads
the NHL and hits. Wouldn't it be nice if he
was still He didn't have a great year last year.

Speaker 1 (01:25:18):
No he didn't.

Speaker 3 (01:25:18):
But he's coming in A gang's a busting right off
the bat.

Speaker 4 (01:25:24):
He's coming in hot. He's coming in hot. Scott and Coquitlam,
is it just me or us? All this whining about
the team means nothing if the seats continue to be full.
I'm willing to bet we could go one for eighty
two and people will still be snapping up tickets. The
owner is not going to do anything as long as
he's making money. What a great submission from Scott. Most
caducts one playoff appearance in the last six years, and

(01:25:46):
again the opener sold out season tickets. This owner takes
the fan base for granted. He's going to stop taking
the fan base for granted when they get down to
twelve thousand, eight thousand, nine thousand like it was in
the eighties.

Speaker 1 (01:26:00):
I think he cares about his legacy more than anything else.
He wants to well, I'm kind of disagreeing with you,
but he cares about his legacy. He wants to bring
a cup to Vank. Is just not going to happen
the way they're going about things for several years. Now, Okay,
is it just me new s Nick, But Carolina and
Colorado set the Canucks back a decade if they don't

(01:26:21):
make the random deal. The Kaducks have Nachus and Miller
and not Heatle and Petterson. That's food for thought. It's
a great point news. How close were they?

Speaker 4 (01:26:32):
They were close and then.

Speaker 1 (01:26:33):
Would half to Petterson for nature.

Speaker 4 (01:26:35):
They were close, and then the Ranton came in and
they changed course and they went for Ranton and instead
of Patterson. But they were close to getting Petterson. Carolina
was Petterson plays hockey like he doesn't want to play hockey.
The best players in the league want the puck on
their stick. They want to make a difference. He doesn't
ever look like he wants to have the puck a
new S Darin, that's a great uh. And again, all

(01:26:55):
the star players in the league, they get you out.

Speaker 1 (01:26:57):
Of your seat.

Speaker 3 (01:26:58):
Just look at play dry play, Just look across the
blue line. Know what's gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (01:27:03):
You don't get that feeling with Garland dries play? Oh
basically him split the defense and get a chance. Yeah, yeah, yesterday,
jap Joe. Is it just me? But I'm shocked Johnny
hasn't told us all. I told you so since Headl
has already taken over the one Sea roll. Also, I
don't care how bad Petterson is. He has to play
a minimum of nineteen minutes a night. Put Garland on
his line and let's watch him sink or swim. He

(01:27:25):
did have Garland on his line, Yeah, for a portion
of the game, I think from the second period on.
For a portion of the game last night. Yeah, but
they did. They swapped centers last night on the top six. Yeah,
and that's why Headel got more ice last night. If
the only Major League Baseball team in Canada was in Vancouver,
people in Toronto would be cheering for Detroit instead of Vancouver,
and a heartbeat Western Canadians have been cheering for Seattle

(01:27:48):
since day one. Give your head to shake Rick Tracy
and chiliwacka, no, no stop. Now I'm gonna get Tracy
back here.

Speaker 4 (01:27:53):
If Seattle, hey, when the Canucks went to the Cup
Final in ninety four, how many people in Seattle were
voting for the Canucks.

Speaker 1 (01:27:59):
Give me a break.

Speaker 4 (01:28:00):
They weren't into hunting, that's your argument. Oh, nobody in
Toronto was voting for the Canucks. Oh when they played
the Rangers in the ninety four finals.

Speaker 1 (01:28:07):
Hey, I'm not voting for the Canucks. That or the
cheering for the Canucks in ninety four, forgets, they played them.

Speaker 4 (01:28:12):
Right ninety two, ninety three World Series, everybody was on board.

Speaker 1 (01:28:16):
Don't kick yourself. If Vancouver was the only major league
baseball team in Canada, nobody in.

Speaker 4 (01:28:22):
I don't care what if the rest of the country
likes you or not. It's the only team in the country.
Cheer for them.

Speaker 1 (01:28:29):
We're gonna wrap up the show and the poll question
next Donny Delly, the team on check.

Speaker 3 (01:28:38):
Dog Pole, Rick Brian up Waddling Dog.

Speaker 4 (01:28:42):
Poll question of the day, and it is, what's the
Canucks' biggest concern after three games? Petterson the power play
of the lack of quality centers A relax, It's only
three games.

Speaker 3 (01:28:51):
Fifteen hundred votes. That's hopping and bopping.

Speaker 1 (01:28:53):
Look at this.

Speaker 4 (01:28:53):
Fifty five percent say it's Peterson is the big concern,
only one assist in three games so far.

Speaker 1 (01:28:59):
By game road trip starts Thursday in Dallas, Friday in Chicago. Yeah,
it's Connaba Dart.
