be the winner of a two man loose.
Speaker 1 (00:30):
And Rick Dolly Wall I had a cherry tree, little Rickie.
I used to go up that tree and just sit
there for hours and munch on these Jerry years.

Henderson is our producer. He's the man at the controls
our director. The voice of God is Derek Wall. How
are you? Oh good? You sound really exciting?
Speaker 1 (01:00):
Positive. We took our positivity pills this morning. It's gonna
be a good positive.
Speaker 4 (01:04):
I'll tell you what. The weather is absolutely beautiful.
Speaker 1 (01:07):
Little cold, mild, nippy, But uh I can't I can't
go on. I got the park out. Uh hey, you
know what, I believe it. You don't walk a dog
Ryan five times a day. I do so easy with
the I did previously. My neighbors all got tukes on
walking dogs.
Speaker 5 (01:26):
Yeah, but you're mister I worked up norm hendos. And
you get older, it gets a little bit nippy er.
It's not at the tuk out last.
Speaker 1 (01:33):
Night, all the all thehing else, all the dog walkers
in the neighborhood last night, all the Paul, who lives
a couple of houses down, we ran into each other.
He had a two Is that the one we showed Na?
That's Alan. This is Paul. He's got the Golden Retriever.
You go. I love those. You got multiple Golden retrievers,
(01:54):
and there's a ton of gold.
Speaker 4 (01:55):
Everybody's got one family in our neighborhood. I think they
have three. Really.
Speaker 1 (02:00):
Yeah, they're beautiful dogs, especially as a puppy. Low maintenance,
you know, just lovely.
Speaker 4 (02:06):
Beautiful, A lot more low maintenance than mine. That Okay,
I love my dog, don't get me wrong. Great guy,
Braiden Coots. The Cannucks have Braiden Coots drafted fifteenth overall
back in June back to the WHL Seattle Thunderbirds, averaging
(02:27):
just under a team low just under eleven minutes of
ice time in his three games, no points, minus two,
zero shots after an impressive training camp and pre season.
But this comes as no surprise, no surprise. I just
he's been the great story down and the future is
bright for this kid. What a great draft picked by
the Canucks. He and by the way, you know, talking
(02:49):
to people last night, the Canucks were terrific to Coots,
from the coaching staff to the leadership group. He really
really really appreciated the leadership group that to you know,
help him out with the players. Yeah, conduct players, the
leadership group helped him out. And that's a big transition
for an eighteen year old to play in the National
Hockey League. But you know what, you put two rookies
(03:10):
on a lined, on him and Lakara Mackie, you know
who's going to drive play and the other day that
says everything about the team exactly. I'm sorry, And the
other guy's a fourth liner at Connor. The poor kid,
Lakara Mackie needs a veteran playmaking center and Coots needs
some veterans on his line.
Speaker 1 (03:28):
And you got to happen. It's not gonna happen. And
you got two rookies on a line and one of
them is eighteen years old. It just it wasn't gonna happen.
Great kid, great character. He's going to go to Seattle down.
He's going to be the captain, he's going to be
first line, power play, penalty killing. Maybe the Canadian junior
hockey team. I don't know. You know, it's a heavy
nineteen twenty year old tournament. But anyways, the future looks bright.
(03:52):
A great kid and it was a really good time
from up here.
Speaker 4 (03:55):
You don't want them around in this negative atmosphere exactly,
and the negativity apparently hit a peak yesterday according to
some people. Okay, Adam Foote, this is him after practice yesterday,
after conduct practice yesterday. Here's the head coach of the
Banker of a Cannucks on the decision to send Braydon
(04:15):
Coots back down to the WHL Seattle Thinnerwards.
Speaker 6 (04:19):
We're proud of what he's done, and it's not been
his play at all.
Speaker 1 (04:22):
He's a smart hockey player.
Speaker 6 (04:23):
We just think it's the right thing for his development.
You know, there's going to be a condensed, long, heavy season.
He's the guy that's really good with touch pucks, touches
with the puck, and you know, we have we have
a young team. We have we have young team. That's
so it's it's hard to have a lot of support
around him for his age at this moment.
Speaker 1 (04:42):
So I think it's the right thing for his development.
Speaker 6 (04:44):
How valuable was the experience he had with the group
to this point do you think for him in his development?
Speaker 1 (04:49):
I think was huge.
Speaker 6 (04:50):
I mean he's the type of person guy he'll go
down and do the right thing as far as his
work ethic, and he's got the world trainers to think about.
But he's so with it that I think he understands
going down with his experience, how to bring it into
that locker room with a young group and still be,
you know, such a good teammate.
Speaker 4 (05:08):
He said it, there were hard to have a lot
of support around him. Given the paraphrasing, you're given the
youth on the cock, So down to Seattle he goes.
He mentioned the World Juniors and the possibility of Braden
being in that roster. You make the point that it's
a nineteen twenty year old tournament by and large, there's
always exceptions.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
But for BC hockey fans.
Speaker 4 (05:29):
Out there, the Thunderbirds are going to be in Prince
George October twenty fourth and twenty fifth. So we've got
viewers and listeners up there. Rick, Oh big time. You
earlier you kind of like talked about your time up
North Ryan and I are questioning that.
Speaker 1 (05:47):
Oh, stop it done. I was in Prince George in
nineteen ninety five four working five.
Speaker 4 (05:54):
Yes, I was working up there, don Why else would
I go to Prince George. So you were in Prince
George when the can I exp went to the Stanley
Cup Final. I was in with task when I had
a short stay in Prince George, I was in with task.
Speaker 1 (06:04):
Getting fired. No, I didn't get fired. Why would I
get fired?
Speaker 4 (06:07):
So Seattle at Prince George October twenty fourth and twenty fifth.
I gotta go through the whole list for all our
BC viewers here. Yeah, Thunderbirds.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
If you want to check out Braiden Coots, it's a
big deal.
Speaker 4 (06:17):
At penticton November seventh in Victoria where our bosses are
against the Royals. November twenty ninth and thirtieth at Kelowna.
February twenty fifth, they don't come. Then Thunderbirds don't come
to Vancouver to Langley until February sixteenth, and then that's
followed up by another Seattle date with the Giants on
the twenty seventh of February at Kamloopsmarts thirty.
Speaker 1 (06:38):
See, I want to check check out Braiden Coots.
Speaker 4 (06:41):
There you go, you junior. Oh, you knock fans out there.
Speaker 1 (06:43):
Seattle's two hours away. Why the hell are they not
here till February?
Speaker 4 (06:46):
You know what, I don't know if you know this,
I'm not in charge of the Western h That's just ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
They're two hours away. And by the way, quickly, if
Seattle struggles, and you know where the Memorial Cup is
this year done Colona, Colowna. And you know Bruce Hamilton,
you know if there's a possibility that he might trade
for him at the deadline, so Bradon Coots might end
up in the Memorial Cup. That's far away, but keep
an eye on.
Speaker 4 (07:09):
That, okay, okay. Also, I mentioned Canuck's practice yesterday. Pierre Olivier,
Joseph and Teddy blueger Boy. Do they need him?
Speaker 1 (07:18):
Oh?
Speaker 4 (07:18):
Center Riceman bottom six penalty killer. They both practice for
the first they've been dealing with injuries. They both practiced
for the first time since the season started yesterday. They
will accompany the team on the trip.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
Derek Forbert wasn't there, no, but.
Speaker 4 (07:33):
We understand that he will be traveling with them for
the five game road trip, which begins Thursday in Dallas.
Speaker 1 (07:38):
But yeah, Blueger is the key for me. Done, Like,
I'm sorry, but they need that guy back. The PK
has been good without him. Done. You know, let's give
the PK credit. They're doing a really good job. But
I have to say Blueger's got to get back in there.
They're really happy with Ratu in the fourth line center
at killing penalties, winning face offs, you know what, but
Blueger changes the dynamics. He really helps. Remember Blueger and
(07:59):
they're remember Donnie Joshua, Blueger Garland.
Speaker 4 (08:02):
At one point, they didn't use enough last year. By
the way, it was one of the hottest third lines
in the National Hockey League. They were going guns of Blazer.
That's one of my things I just don't know. Among
the million things I didn't understand about last year, that's
one thing I didn't understand was one of them was
that I don't understand why that line rarely played together
after such success twenty three and twenty four the twenty
(08:25):
three twenty four season. Okay, Also I didn't mention this,
but Coots goes down, Max Sassen comes up from Abatsford,
so we imagine he'll be until Blueger gets healthy, completely healthy.
Max Sassen will play center bottom.
Speaker 1 (08:38):
Six speed, and he makes the Canucks a whole lot faster.
Let's be honest, Donnie, Nobody flies like he does in
the in the forward group, so that he comes up
and he was the number one center for the Absburg
team over the weekend in Henderson, Vegas, Henderson, Nevada, Nevada.
Speaker 4 (08:57):
Yeah, yeah, suburb of Vegas, home with the Silver Knights.
Speaker 1 (09:01):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (09:02):
So yesterday at practice, after practice, Adam Foot also said
that he likes Petterson with Garland. Remember they moved things
around in the game against Saint Louis in the second
period and on from there. But he liked Peterson with Garland.
And then he said, and maybe Kane he wasn't. He wasn't.
Doesn't seem like he was high. And Evander Kane also
(09:25):
he mentioned, and this is what everybody talks about line
so much, and going back to the Scottie Bowman school
of hockey, going way back. A lot of coaches, and
Adam seems to be one of the most of them.
They talk about pairs and then you fit somebody else
on that line. And he mentioned he likes Hetel with
bess Er probably debusque, but it was interesting. What he
(09:46):
said about Kane wasn't a full endorsement of Evander Kaine,
who I believe got pulled off the first unit power
play against against Saint Louis.
Speaker 1 (09:55):
He did, Look, their top six is going to be Uh,
it's going to be interesting all season long. Look, they're
having trouble manufacturing chances right now, Donnie, and the center
plays a big part of it.
Speaker 4 (10:07):
But you can't keep the same lines when they're not
working on it. What's the definition of insanity? You know
what it is? You tell me if you do the
if you do the same thing over and over and over,
that's insane without change. Yeah, and he expected different different.
I'll put you on the spot. I apologize.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
Einstein.
Speaker 4 (10:27):
Is that was that him?
Speaker 1 (10:28):
Was it?
Speaker 4 (10:31):
I'm telling you the definition of insanity is google it.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
It's in what's his name? Einstein? Okay, Yeah, Albert Albert Einstein. Yeah, okay,
I think that.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
Leads for our pole question. Let's let's introduce it right now.
Experience one of Victoria's iconic destinations. We're talking about the
waddling dog pole question, and we're talking about the dog
sleep sip stock up, all in one legendary spot. Come
sit and stay at the dog. Today we were talking
about the top six and we know who the Canucks,
probably the most impressive four it has been so far.
(11:04):
He's up there anyway, and that leads to our waddling.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
Dog poll cars All right, Ryan, get her up the
wadling Dodd pole question. Should Keeper sure would be a
regular member of the Canucks top six? We just posted
it a little bit late today, but yes, sixty three percent, no,
thirty seven percent, So a lot of people wanted. He's hot,
leads the team with three goals. But my thing is this,
if Keeper Surewood is your best forward, and if he's
(11:29):
in your top six, that tells you a lot about
your hockey club. Don He was signed as a fourth
line guy, so so what do you mean?
Speaker 4 (11:35):
So he makes one point five all these other guys
in the top six, so you're four promote five six
seven eleven point six. What does that have to do
with anything he's got up?
Speaker 1 (11:46):
It tells you about your hockey club.
Speaker 4 (11:48):
Sure, but you don't promote somebody who is up performing
everybody else. Well, if we had this argument yesterday, and
I made a great point, and I don't think you
heard me, Yeah, Alex Burrows. Burrows came out up the
game of Saint undrafted. They tried everybody, all these right
right handed players with uh, you know, Trent klad and
(12:09):
Answer Carter and and and and you know, varying degrees
of success back in the day with the Sedines alone.
Behold the guy making very little undrafted was the answer.
And the other thing with him as well is that
he was Alex brow is a left handed player, and
he ended up being a perfect fit on that line
with the twins. With the twins, both of whom are
(12:29):
left handed, who would have guessed.
Speaker 1 (12:30):
That, Yeah, Sean deserves a shot what he makes I
get it.
Speaker 4 (12:35):
I don't think you NHL playoff bound teams don don't
have a one point five million dollars players in the
top six. Yeah, but if he's clearly outperforming everybody, you've
got it, Like, what does that say?
Speaker 1 (12:45):
To the locker.
Speaker 4 (12:47):
We can't have him. You can't promote him because you
can't put him in the top six. He's not making
you know, that's not Maybe the.
Speaker 1 (12:54):
Guy's making six, seven, eight, nine, and eleven point six
should be better.
Speaker 4 (12:57):
Well yes, and if they're not better, sorry, down to
the bottom six. You go.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
I don't think that that is not that big a deal.
Speaker 4 (13:05):
Why he's not in the top six. It looks like
yesterday in practice. Yes, okay, well, I know he likes them.
He likes him with Ratu H. I get that. But
we brought the subject up yesterday and he's been great.
Speaker 1 (13:17):
He brings energy. I would have a problem. I love
the guy.
Speaker 4 (13:21):
If it means putting him on the left side, it
was the right hand, whatever the case may be.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
The rest of the top six played with his passion
and heart, non, they wouldn't be struggling.
Speaker 4 (13:31):
Okay, we have to take a break here. Let's do this.
I'll mention you've got something you want to tell people
both so okay, we'll do that in a second, but
first I'll tell people what's coming up on the show.
DTMZ Is it just me? In the eleven o'clock hour,
Ken Richardson, our friend from past time sports owner is
going to join us at around eleven fifteen or so
(13:53):
to tell us about a special event with pastime sports
sports fans. You're going to be interested in this. There
could be money involved. Craig Button, TSN scouting director. Craig,
of course, spent so much of his early years in Montreal.
I want to show this, But what a job that
has to want to say paint tribute to Ken Dryden.
Just no one does it better. Just amazing. Big Rye
(14:16):
the quitter guy coming up later this hour and up
next Ross Tucker from the Ross Tucker Football Podcast, CBS
Sports and Westwood One to talk about the NFL, and
it was well, the slumping Eagles and the slumping Bills.
Who saw that coming. Meanwhile, I Eric, on the subject
of football, You've got something you want to tell people.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
The great legendary football coach at UBC, Frank Smith passed
away at Donnie last week. His celebration of life will
be at the Robert H. Lee Alumni Center on University
Boulevard at UBC. It'll be October twenty seventh at four pm.
So we wanted to let everybody know about that. Frank Smith,
Vannet Cups Donnie I remember the one in eighty six.
(14:56):
I had the pleasure of interviewing him later as a
member of the media. Just one of the best football
coaches ever in the history of British Columbia.
Speaker 4 (15:05):
That's a Saturday, October twenty seventh, four o'clock, Robert H.
Lee Alumni Center at UBC. Thoughts, prayers, condolences, God, bless
the great, the late great Frank Smith. A break rock,
Ross's next, Donnie, Dolly The.

Speaker 1 (16:20):
Ross. Thanks for doing this, sir, how are you?
Speaker 8 (16:23):
It is my pleasure. I'm doing wonderful. Great to talk
with you guys on a Wednesday this week.
Speaker 4 (16:28):
No problem.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
Hey, Ross, your latest power rankings. I think you've got
this right.
Speaker 4 (16:33):
You've got the Colts at number one. Wow, And it
surprises a lot of people, especially when look back to
the start of the season.
Speaker 1 (16:41):
How come.
Speaker 8 (16:43):
Well, I think they've been the best team so far
and that they've certainly been the most consistent you know there.
Not only are they five and one. Three of their
five wins, they've totally destroyed the other team. It wasn't
even close. And the point I make about that is,
I don't care who you're playing the end or how
bad they are, it is hard to blow teams out.
(17:04):
So for them to already have three blowout wins over
the Dolphins, over the Titans, trying to remember who the
other one was, but they are the Raiders.
Speaker 9 (17:14):
They've blown three of them out.
Speaker 8 (17:16):
They had to have a game winning drive against the
Cardinals on Sunday.
Speaker 9 (17:20):
They got that done.
Speaker 8 (17:22):
Their only loss was at the Rams, and that's the
game where ad Mitchell dropped the ball going in for
the touchdown. They were gonna go up two touchdowns and
he just let go of the ball. They would have
won that game. So I'm believing what I'm seeing. You know,
you get to this point six games into the season,
you know, whatever that is, forty into the season, that's
(17:43):
enough of a sample size. I'm going by what I
see this year. What I see this year is that
the Colts have been the most consistent team.
Speaker 4 (17:50):
I'm not sure if we talked about this before, but Ross,
what's the difference between Daniel Jones. I know it's early,
but Daniel Jones in New York and Daniel Jones with the.
Speaker 9 (17:59):
Colts personnel and coaching, he has better personnel around him,
much better than he ever had with the Giants.
Speaker 8 (18:08):
I mean, this is the best offensive line he's ever had.
This is the best group of skill position players, you know. Obviously,
Jonathan Taylor is as good as any running back in
the league right now, so he's up there with what
Saquon was for Daniel Jones. And then it's pretty clear
now I'm sure, Daniel Jones has improved, and maybe the
time last year in Minnesota helped him, but.
Speaker 9 (18:30):
It's pretty clear that.
Speaker 8 (18:34):
They're putting him in a better chance to have success
than he ever was with the Giants, and.
Speaker 9 (18:38):
I think the offensive line is probably the biggest reason
for that.
Speaker 8 (18:40):
But I also think Shane Stiken and that coaching staff
in Indianapolis deserve a ton of credit for putting him
in these positions to have success. He just looks very,
very comfortable getting the ball out of his hands quickly,
making smart decisions. You get a bad pick against the Cardinals,
but that's kind of been few and four between so
far and ross.
Speaker 1 (19:02):
Winning on the road is supposed to be tough in
the NFL. It is for everybody. But the Seahawks ninth straight,
ten to one in their last eleven away from Seattle. Boy,
how do you explain that?
Speaker 8 (19:12):
I can't and I don't, And you know, because not
only are they winning on the road nine in a row,
which is wildly impressive, but you know, Seattle is far
from every team they play.
Speaker 9 (19:25):
Yeah, it's not like any of these games are close.
These are all legit road trips.
Speaker 8 (19:32):
And yet they go out there and they don't usually
just win. They usually make it very clear. They take
care of business. It's super impressive, I bet you. Mike
McDonald is getting a lot of calls from other coaches,
college coach, NFL coaches, dude, how are you doing this?
Speaker 9 (19:47):
What are you doing? Meanwhile, I'm sure Mike McDonald's trying
to figure.
Speaker 8 (19:50):
Out why they can't win a home yea, but this
is one that they should win because it's Monday night
football ten o'clock Eastern time, which means seven o'clock local.
It's a golden opportunity for the twelfth man Seahawks fans
to really get fired up, get engaged, get after it,
and you know, with the hope being that they can
(20:12):
get this win because they have a good team.
Speaker 9 (20:14):
They just need to be better at home.
Speaker 8 (20:15):
Which is such a weird thing to say about any team,
but especially the Seattle Seahawks.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
Back to back losses to the Broncos and the Giants.
Where's your concern level with the Eagles?
Speaker 8 (20:27):
I would say it's up there after this last game
against the Giants, for sure, you know, because not only
you lose the Broncos late, Okay, you can live with that,
but the Giants. Ye and the way in which it happened.
I mean they thirty four seventeen, the Giants taking it
to them physically, the Eagles not looking like it was
(20:49):
as important to them as it was the Giants.
Speaker 9 (20:51):
It was ugly, it was ugly.
Speaker 8 (20:53):
It looked like the Giants were more the more physical, tougher,
aggressive team. I'm fast stated to see how the Eagles
look coming out of this mini buy against the Vikings
after having a Thursday night game. In fairness that you
know they're gonna be missing some of their best players.
I don't know if Jalen Carter then de tackle will play.
I doubt Quinnyon Mitchell the corner will play. So they're
(21:16):
missing some of their best players. Landon Dickerson will not.
But that's no excuse. Nobody cares. There's teams the Bucks
and the Niners. I mean, there's teams with much much
worse injuries than the Eagles have.
Speaker 4 (21:28):
Speaking of two straight losses, Ross, how to explain Buffalo,
where's their game at the Bills having launched two.
Speaker 8 (21:35):
Straight Well, that's another one where you know they especially
you know, the Eagles at least beat the Bucks, beat
the Rams, beat the Chiefs.
Speaker 9 (21:46):
Eagles have some real deal wins.
Speaker 8 (21:48):
I think all three of those teams are in the
top five of the Ross Tucker Podcast Power rankings.
Speaker 9 (21:55):
You reference number one being the Colts. Meanwhile, the Bills.
Speaker 8 (21:59):
They didn't really beat any I mean they beat a
bad Jets team, a bad Saints team, you know, a
bad Dolphins team, didn't well even look that impressive in
doing so. And then to lose back to back like
this against I would say average.
Speaker 9 (22:12):
Teams like New England and Atlanta. They hadn't played good
teams yet.
Speaker 8 (22:16):
What's gonna happen to Bills when they play a good team?
Speaker 4 (22:19):
Hey, hey, Russ, you worked at Bears Commanders. The other day,
Jake Moody thirty eight yard field goal as time expired
to win it for Chicago, four for five on the
day he've been to The team's been activated like seven
hours before the game. The teammates were just getting to
know him. Then he ends up being the hero of
the game. Can you relate to that at all? Anything
(22:41):
like that happened during your career?
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Yes?
Speaker 9 (22:45):
I can? You know?
Speaker 8 (22:46):
For one, I remember I got cut by Washington, got
picked up on waivers by the Dallas Cowboys, and I
shoot it up on Sunday. We actually played Seattle and
that was the game where Emmitt Smith broke the all
time rushing record, and everything about it was weird and
felt very uncomfortable. I end up starting seven games that year,
(23:07):
and I'd only been there for a couple of weeks.
Speaker 9 (23:09):
When I was starting those games. You know.
Speaker 8 (23:11):
Then New England two thousand and five, I get signed
late in the season by the Patriots and we win
the game and I go into the locker room and
there's a.
Speaker 9 (23:22):
T shirt hanging in my locker that says Division Champs.
I'd only been there for three days. I was like, man,
it was hard, but we did it. We got it done,
fellas we did it.
Speaker 8 (23:31):
Tell me my only only NFL Division title was after
three days with the Patriots.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
Tell me you kept the T shirt?
Speaker 8 (23:38):
Yeah, I did for a while, and then I finally
gave it to somebody for a while.
Speaker 9 (23:43):
But yeah, that was funny.
Speaker 8 (23:45):
That's the thing, you know, you realize how hard it
is to really win. That's actually also the only year
I ever played in the playoff game. It was for
the Patriots against the Broncos, just on special teams. But
I think Tom Brady was ten and zero in playoff games,
so they put me in. I have the distinction of
being I played My only playoff game I ever played
(24:06):
in was Tom Brady's first playoff loss.
Speaker 4 (24:09):
Wow, Ross, I don't know what Jets fan get a
T shirt for that?
Speaker 1 (24:13):
Yeah, no kidding. I don't know what Jets fans have
done to deserve this. Just a horrible start. Eighty two
yards total offense against the Broncos. Justin fields is forty
five yards passing. He's not cutting it. How do you
fix that mess?
Speaker 9 (24:28):
Well, I'm not sure they can.
Speaker 8 (24:30):
You know, they really, you know, the biggest takeaway for
me is that you don't really know what you have
in a.
Speaker 9 (24:40):
Head coach until they do it for the first time.
Speaker 1 (24:42):
Yep.
Speaker 9 (24:43):
I'm sure.
Speaker 8 (24:43):
Aaron Glenn was fantastic in his interviews and they were
excited to have him.
Speaker 9 (24:48):
Aaron Glenn, Okay, this is great, guys. I mean some
of the decision making there it has.
Speaker 8 (24:54):
Been brutal, brutal for the New York Jets end of
the first half. I still haven't figured out what they
were trying to do. And so we'll see, I mean,
we'll end up seeing if he can turn it around.
But I would say it's honestly already like an uphill
battle for him to be able to turn it around.
Speaker 4 (25:14):
We'll get you a Donnie and Dolly T shirt.
Speaker 1 (25:16):
Okay, yep, right away, right away, right away, all right?
Speaker 9 (25:20):
I would I would wear that. Have Donnie and Dolly
T shirt.
Speaker 1 (25:23):
Yeah, yeah, golf shirts, hats, you name it, everything. Come on, man,
just tell us where you want. We'll send you a package.
Speaker 9 (25:29):
I want to tea.
Speaker 8 (25:30):
I want a Donnie and Dolly shirt that says myfront
page story dot com right across the chest.
Speaker 1 (25:36):
Done.
Speaker 8 (25:36):
I only I only watch Donnie and Dolly when I'm
not ordering from my front page story dot com.
Speaker 4 (25:42):
Bingo, it's a winner. Good question about it, Ross, thanks
for this next week, all right, see you fellas audios.
Speaker 1 (25:48):
At Ross Tucker.

Speaker 1 (27:02):
Get her up the Wattling Dog pop poll question, should
Key for sure would be a regular member of the
Canucks top six and look at this three hundred and
eighty five votes. Sixty six percent say yes, and then
thirty five percent say no. Surewood in junior don twenty
nine goals in the American Hockey League. One year in
Colorado thirty six goals. He has got the capability. He's undrafted,
(27:26):
he kept working at his applying his trade. Good for him,
and now he's on the verge getting a new contract.
He's a UFA. He had nineteen goals last year. If
he hits twenty this year, Don, and he leads the
NHL and hits, he's not doing that right now, or
just leads the Canucks and hits. There's great value in
him getting a big raise from one point five million.
Speaker 4 (27:46):
So you do want him in the top sex and
say that I said that, you know, well he's not
the top six a practice he wasn't and the coach
did not indicate that.
Speaker 1 (27:55):
He's going from line four to line one or two.
So no, you can change in ten. That can shift
to shift.
Speaker 4 (28:01):
But you're so high on this guy. He's he's had
scored two goals, but the coaches that he isn't high
on key for sure.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
With everybody loves them. I wish the highest big guy
on the team would play with his passion and heart,
but he doesn't. But anyways, who doesn't love him? But Don?
Speaker 4 (28:17):
When he's in your top six, that tells you that
you're not a good hockey club. Maybe your top six
would be better if Keith for sure, who was there.
Speaker 1 (28:25):
He's on line four last game.
Speaker 4 (28:27):
Well, there's a lot of guys who are in the
top six right now, and that tells you that they're
not a good hockey club.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
Well, thank you, thank you. Top six is a big issue.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
This continues the way it's been going, and he's your
most noticeable player out there, along with Connor Garland, who's
already in the top six or has been. You give
it a shot.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
That's what happened with Alex Burrows. I'll say it again.
Put him on the power.
Speaker 4 (28:50):
Play don put him on the power play front of
the net. I'd be okay with that. Maybe not power
play one, maybe a power play two. Hey, you know what,
here's an idea. Yeah, somebody in the top six. We're
talking with somebody who's extremely athletic. I don't know about
his skating abilities, but did you see this the other
day I did before the game. Yeah, Thomas Mueller on
(29:11):
the ice Rogers Arena. You know my first thought was here,
don't fall absolutely, don't twist an ankle, don't bust up
that that is ice out there. If I'm the white Caps,
I'm taking them into a small corner of their office
building and saying, Thomas, you are one of the best
(29:31):
players in the world.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
Do not go on the ice in running shoes. What
are you doing?
Speaker 4 (29:37):
What's the small corner have to do with it at
the office? Keep him away from the ice, bottom line,
And they have his number thirteen. Beautiful nice.
Speaker 1 (29:46):
I love it. I love it when this cross promotion. Yep.
Speaker 4 (29:49):
But Don with the teams in various cities in this case,
do you want a Canucks player at a white Caps practice,
you know, jumping around?
Speaker 1 (29:56):
I wouldn't.
Speaker 4 (29:58):
It's it's good.
Speaker 1 (30:00):
Will, it's karmas like they got no helmet on, Like Don,
it's a scary thing.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
Thomas Mueller and the white Caps and he's been just
fabulous so far. Decision Day, Saturday, they take on Dallas SEFC.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
Star player place a star player playing like a star player.
What a concept.
Speaker 4 (30:19):
And the Lions play Friday night against Edbonton. They expect
a big crowd for.
Speaker 1 (30:25):
That, big crowd for the Have they opened up the
upper deck? Yes?
Speaker 4 (30:27):
I believe so, yes, yeah.
Speaker 1 (30:29):
So Friday night Edmonton, Well.
Speaker 4 (30:32):
They've been pushing thirty thousand in fact, I think well
they had over thirty thousand for the Snoop Dog game
also against the Ebonton. But they've pushed thirty thousand a
couple of times this year and they expect that twenty
eight plus anyway on Friday at BC Place against Abington,
which is an important game.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
A very important game. If they can go win their
last two times, they're going to host the playoff game.
Speaker 4 (30:54):
I want to show this we've got some time and
all the best of the white Caps and the Lions,
by the way, let me do this before we move
on to some more hockey here. Canada played to a
scoreless draw with Columbia. We're talking soccer again in New
Jersey yesterday a soccer friendly as the two teams they
(31:14):
get ready for the World Cup. It's in June Canada
and the USA and Mexico. Significant. I know Canada lost
to Australia the other day that they played them, but
they lost though in another friendly in Canada. But Columbia's
thirteenth ranked. That game had a lot of edge. Was
fun to win back and forth between that and the
(31:34):
baseball game. But thirteenth rank Columbia Canada twenty sixth. So
there you go, scoreless draw. Well, we had the coach
on last week. I love this guy, Donnie. I love
this guy. I think he's doing great stuff. And they
keep winning. They're doing well in their exhibition games, or
as you call it friendlies. Well, most people in soccer
call it friendly.
Speaker 1 (31:53):
Yeah, yeah, but you can call it exhibition same thing.
Speaker 4 (31:56):
Yeah, we'll discuss that maybe in another show. I wanted
to show them because nobody does tributes better in the
world of sports, not just hockey, nobody than the Montreal Canadians.
Did you see this last night? And it was so
simple and so effective. The Montreal Canadians paying tribute to
the late great Ken Dryden, his replica of his iconic
(32:17):
second Halbs mask on top of the net, spotlight, a
little bit of music, his old teammates, there's Sir Savar there,
Yvonne Cornway, Rejeon. Uh, I'm missing some here, but just
so simple, and then the spotlight on his number twenty
nine hanging from the rafters. I'm watching this and it's
bringing me to tears. And you know, we're gonna have
(32:39):
Craig Button on the show, and he spent a lot
of his childhood in Montreal, and I can't imagine what
this would have meant to somebody like Craig who grew
up at a time when Ken Dryden and the Montreal
Canadians were rolling off Stanley Cup after Stanley Cup for
the Montreal Canadians. So we'll talk to him about that.
But it was just so effective last night, just so simple,
just said it all people wiping away tears, not overdoing it.
(33:02):
And I saw Doug Jarvison there as well. But look
at this, darnis just a simple, nice tribute to one
of the best goaltenders of all time National Hockeyague. So
in line with that, it was a tough offseason for
people who play, anybody who cares about the National Hockey League,
in particular the goaltender position, losing three Hall of Fame
(33:22):
goaltenders Ken Dryden, Ed Jockerman and Bernie part Bernie. The
other day, the Philadelphia Flyers, led by head coach Rick Hockett,
knocked off the Stanley Cup champion Florida Panthers at home
and in their dressing room. This is what they're going
to be giving the player of the game after a win.
Speaker 1 (33:46):
You've got the video there, you go.
Speaker 4 (33:48):
Look at this Bernie, a replica of Bernie Paran's mask,
goes to the player of the game in Philadelphia. I
always love that mask. We talked, we just use the
word simple when it comes to that tribute. And it's
the same thing with Bernie's mask. The Flyers logos on
the two sides and at the top of the top
of the lid. Just really special, great touch by the
(34:11):
Philadelphia Flyers. It was a scary look. Remember those masks
of scary looking masks.
Speaker 1 (34:16):
And Ken Dryden's and his, Bernie Price and Jerry Cheevers
are the big three that I remembered.
Speaker 4 (34:22):
Yeah, I played a primary I coached minor hockey in
Port Moody for a long time and they have this
great display in the lobby of there's five or six.
I think there was a company called Masks from the
Past and if you wanted them to, they would make
your replica replica of masks. And there's Jill Gratton's is there,
(34:44):
and I think gil Villemeres and others. I can't remember
Bernie or Kansas is in that display, but it's really special.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
I was.
Speaker 4 (34:51):
I never took it for granted, always took a quick
quick look at it on a regular basis. But good
on the Philadelphia Flyers and the Montreal Can it's paying
tributes to two of the great goal to the great
players of National Hockey League history in a really really
special way. That was great.
Speaker 1 (35:07):
And they want Stanley Cups. Donnie. Everyone says, oh, you
can win a Stanley Cup without a goaltender. No you can't.
Ken Dryden and also Bernie Prompt proved that well.
Speaker 4 (35:17):
I'll tell you how Ken Dryden proved it more than
anything is when he took a year off and Montreal
didn't win one one and he comes back with the
new mask. That mask there he had one of the
pretzel masks when he first came into the National Hockey League,
which was an unusual looking pretzel mask. Takes a year
off to study law. Shock to everybody they didn't do
(35:38):
so well. He comes back and they real off four
st rate Stanley Cups. What a special player he was.
And I'll tell you Bernie proNT with him. I know
this story is old with him him passing away. I
can't remember if I told it, but my brother Bob
took me to a game and at the coliseum and
we're behind the net, behind the Flyers net for two
(36:00):
periods and it was the first time i'd seen a
goaltender be so good. This is Bernie Paraun in his prime.
The broad Street bullies be so proficient at not just
stopping the puck, but stopping the puck and angling it
towards the corners so there was no rebound out front, right,
And I never never really noticed a goaltender doing that,
(36:23):
but he just did it constantly. And I can't imagine.
And I know this is nothing new for people who
know way more about hockey than I do. But I'm
this little Donnie. I don't know how old I was
at the time, you know, eleven, twelve years old, but
it was a big big deal watching this and wo
that must be so frustrating to play against it. He
was just so good. He won back to back constant
(36:43):
My Trophies, back to back Stanley Cups. Just tremendous and
needless to say, Ken Dryden and again, I know we
went through this when when Ken passed, but to win
a const My Trophy before you win a Calder for
Rookie of the Year, he was not going to be
done again.
Speaker 1 (37:00):
Came out of college.
Speaker 4 (37:01):
Yeah, yeah, just tremendous. So again good good on the
flyers and the aps and again it's the Conduction Star
starting a five game road trip Thursday in Dallas then
Chicago with Bidart.
Speaker 1 (37:13):
Big trip coming up on Friday.
Speaker 4 (37:14):

Is it just me? White Rock Troy? Is it just me?
Speaker 4 (38:58):
But Thomas Muller did more than that one clip on
the ice and a certain Kinnock has in three games
again from White Rock Troy. Pretty impressive with the moves
and he knows dry settle.
Speaker 1 (39:09):
Maybe get some tips throwing the blades. That's a great
sign of contract position, great submission.
Speaker 4 (39:15):
You know you would want him in the top six
before Surewood.
Speaker 1 (39:18):
Yeah, I stop it, Mueller. I'd put Mueller in the
top six. He's great. He's a superstar player playing like
a superstar. What a concept.
Speaker 5 (39:27):
Donny, I don't know what you guys are taking around. Man,
it's three games. Everyone should relax, relax, and then he
should be fine. Some people tell me he's coursing four
Petitans courses four three games.
Speaker 1 (39:39):
He's been standing. He's gonna breakout. Man.
Speaker 5 (39:42):
Everyone should rally behind this Cannocks team. No more negativity
in this market, have negativity. We should rally around and
boost these players up and they will succeed that way.
Speaker 4 (39:54):
Well, I know you're being star casting.
Speaker 1 (39:56):
No.
Speaker 4 (39:57):
Here's the thing though, The sad part of your little
beach there very effective, by the way.
Speaker 1 (40:02):
I thought, so bring it to yours.
Speaker 4 (40:03):
Is that there are a lot of people who feel
that way, and most.
Speaker 1 (40:06):
Of them they're not kidding around. Most of them are
in the walls. You know, the hockey team will get mad. Yeah,
don't get negative, but.
Speaker 4 (40:14):
Okay, there's this weird group of Canuck fans who do
feel that way. That.
Speaker 1 (40:21):
Yeah, Honest to gosh, I don't know where it came.
I would never like that. I'm with you.
Speaker 4 (40:26):
I'm going to sound like an old man here.
Speaker 1 (40:27):
I don't care.
Speaker 4 (40:28):
I am an old man. I often do sound like
an old man. That's fine, it wasn't like that. Before
it was like they're winning or they're losing, and.
Speaker 1 (40:36):
You're happy or you're piss No, I'm with you.
Speaker 4 (40:39):
But then there's this group of well, we got to
get behind them and they'll do it doesn't work out.
Speaker 1 (40:43):
I don't want to hear anything negative, weird. I'm with you.
Speaker 5 (40:45):
But it's not just it's not even negative, it's reality.
Speaker 1 (40:49):
We started the show and Donnie great call talking about Coots,
and we said five hundred nice things about Coots. But
the moment you say anything negative about Peterson, Boom, come
to Peterson, lovers and Boom. But again, tho you go,
you can't say anything negative? But what about the five
hundred nice words about Coots? But we're just gonna forget that.
(41:10):
But again, the like, how is it negativity when it's reality?
Speaker 5 (41:14):
In fact, he's making a reality in fact that he's
got what one five on five shot through three games,
that's a fact.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
I don't know, I don't know, I don't know.
Speaker 4 (41:23):
But in fact, you could just go through facts. You
could literally reads certain players right with the team, is
yea since this regime got before that, yes, frustrating, So
so you wouldn't even have to give an opinion. Just
this happened one shot through three games five on five?
Speaker 1 (41:39):
Is that bad? Yeah? Exactly?
Speaker 5 (41:42):
Exactly? Okay, uh did you get positive? So, speaking of
the media and it's fun media and teams, did you
guys see so yesterday the Boston Celtics. Yes, they tell
the media that they're gonna they have the court to themselves,
that they're gonna be able to play in an inter
squad game. The media is to be able to play
against each other. Then yesterday head coach Joel Missoula makes
(42:06):
a bit of a left turn and says, oh, by
the way, you're actually gonna take on the coaches. So
it's media against the coaches. Look at the scoreboard. Got
to score final score for those of you on the podcast,
fifty seven to four.
Speaker 1 (42:21):
But the coaches were not the ones with the four.
Speaker 5 (42:23):
Coaches played in the NBA. Yeah, there there's a long
Missoula didn't play in the NBA.
Speaker 1 (42:28):
But who Dennis Johnson? That looks like Dennis Johnson. I
don't think it was a great and donny no Celtics card.
Speaker 5 (42:34):
Yeah, there are there are a couple members of our
previous members of the NBA on the staff. Missoula was
a really good college player and never played the NBA.
It was a really good college player. But it was
just funny because all of the writers after the fact
wrote about their experience and how awful it was for them,
even beyond the score, like they one of the writers said,
(42:54):
they think they went past half court once once or twice,
like we was really really lopsided a couple of baskets though, yeah,
apparently because they got four points. But at fifty seven
and four. The Celtics coaches over the Celtics members of
the media yesterday.
Speaker 4 (43:11):
Banker of a media versus Canucks coaching staff.
Speaker 1 (43:13):
Oh not good.
Speaker 4 (43:15):
I wouldn't want to be. I don't care how old
he is.
Speaker 1 (43:17):
I want to be. Wouldn't want to be going up
against that.
Speaker 5 (43:20):
Okay, when somebody brought up I can't remember it was
somebody on Twitter, Rob Williams. Somebody tweeted, what if you
go back to last year talk at foot conchart? Yeah, right,
scary the sedens. Yeah, you can put the sedeens in there, Maddie, right.
I mean, it's it's not it's not it's not gonna go.
Speaker 4 (43:38):
Well, I think we could get together and still take them.
Speaker 5 (43:41):
Well, it would be it would be interesting. But the Celtics,
Jim first, the Celtics having fun with the media. See
that's I like that. It's a little jokey thing. Camaraderie.
Speaker 4 (43:50):
Yes, that are working together, right, get people on your side.
Speaker 1 (43:54):
Right.
Speaker 4 (43:54):
I have to say this, Rick, because we're gonna get
emails and checks. Dennis Johnson has passed away.
Speaker 1 (44:00):
Know that I didn't know that.
Speaker 5 (44:01):
Yeah he was Celtics coach, SuperSonics coach or player player right, yeah, right, great.
Speaker 1 (44:08):
Player on those Celtic teams in the eighties, Donny, he
was really really good. Yeah, absolutely, Yeah, I'm blanking.
Speaker 5 (44:15):
There are a few, like I say, there are a
few members of the NBA still on the on the
Celtics coaching staff.
Speaker 4 (44:20):
And also, but it doesn't matter even if you played
high level high school basketball.
Speaker 1 (44:24):
Yeah, like you are.
Speaker 4 (44:25):
You are a gifted athlete. Yes, I laugh when people
talk about anybody playing minor league hockey or in the CFL.
The athleticism is not The athleticism is above and beyond
the the average person in droves.
Speaker 1 (44:40):
Oh yeah, definitely absolutely.
Speaker 4 (44:42):
And yeah, you riped them left and right.
Speaker 1 (44:44):
That's right, left right.
Speaker 4 (44:46):
The only thing you can for me like being negative
about effort. If the effort's not there, then the thing
you're you know, especially if you're bucking up for tickets.
That's another subject.
Speaker 5 (44:57):
Yeah yeah, speaking of bucket up for tickets, how do
you think New York Rangers fans are feeling?
Speaker 4 (45:02):
Gosh, that is what a stat.
Speaker 5 (45:04):
So this is from Arta o'call ESPN NHL host on Twitter.
The first time in NHL history a team has been
shut out in their first three home games.
Speaker 1 (45:13):
That's the New York Rangers. They lost last night, by
the way to the Orders to nothing.
Speaker 5 (45:18):
Also the first time for the Rangers to be shut
out three straight times at home period, at any point
in the season since February of nineteen twenty eight. And
you can tell us about that season, Donny. You covered that, oh,
February nineteen twenty.
Speaker 1 (45:30):
Season for the Rangers. Yeah, it's just I'm sorry, I
know it's played end of time.
Speaker 5 (45:38):
It makes me laugh, But that's all the matters. But yeah, guys,
this is this is truly incredible. What's happening with the Rangers?
Three straight shutouts to start the season at Madison Square Garden.
Speaker 4 (45:49):
Miller in the post game, fair phasing, not that big
a deal.
Speaker 1 (45:53):
He said to everybody call him down play. Well that's
what he said. He said, we're getting our looksensively. They're
running on you know, hot golden. There's no question. Hold
on a second, Well what are you talk if you
get shut out? Okay, well the first one of the
years against who who is it? Sea Loves and they
outplayed them. They out they're out playing it was save
(46:14):
shutout yea a week later six to one in Pittsburgh. Yeah,
but so exactly, come on, hot goaltending like, let's she
loves like again the Oilers last night to nothing.
Speaker 5 (46:25):
I mean, everybody says the Achilles Heal the Edmonton Oilers
is the goaltending, and yet you're getting shut out by
the Oilers.
Speaker 1 (46:30):
I don't know. And look and j T.
Speaker 4 (46:32):
I saw he's clip getting made some nice saves.
Speaker 1 (46:35):
Yeah, yeah, and he's he's not playing bad. There's just no.
Speaker 4 (46:38):
Puck cast that's that's not gonna sell.
Speaker 1 (46:41):
It's not gonna fly. No puck, it's not gonna fly.
They scored six in Pittsburgh and they cat scoring hole.
What is with you? Like? What are you talking about it?
You're making excuses for the Rangers. I'm not making You're
ripping into the connection.
Speaker 4 (46:54):
One.
Speaker 1 (46:55):
Two are you kidding me? Puck luck, puck watch Miller.
Speaker 5 (47:00):
By the way, three points on the season, I think
through four games something like that. Are we doing this well,
I'm just updating everyone. Yeah, three, yeah, two more than
someone else. We know he was getting he was getting
ripped out of the first game. But if you watch
the highlights of that first game, he was clearly not right.
He probably should not have been playing it. Yeah, big time,
(47:20):
big time. But anyway, he's telling everybody to just pump
the brakes on the panic button in New York. Although
they've I mean they putting. The Rangers got the town
to themselves right now. No more Yankees. Nicks haven't started yet.
Jets are awful. The Giants Giants, I guess. Yeah, you
compete with the Giants dirt the Devil's announced today, By
the way, Jacob Markshram's out with an injury.
Speaker 1 (47:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (47:42):
Uh so you get shut out three times at home
to start the season. That's a good thing.
Speaker 1 (47:49):
No, I never said that they're out. If you're out
playing teams doing if you're losing, it doesn't matter, it
doesn't matter. I hate that. So you're in the moral
victory business, then I'm not in the moral victory. You are.
You know they can score because they piped or scored
six and Pittsburgh they piped. Pipe was going to say, anyways,
they scored six in Pittsburgh. Right, they can score. But
have you won?
Speaker 4 (48:10):
Rick, hold on a sec. You're a season ticket holder.
Speaker 1 (48:13):
You want goals.
Speaker 4 (48:14):
You got little Johnny with you, your son or whoever? Right,
Freddy Johnny and Freddy both, and they go to three
straight home games no goals. They don't get to cheer
Jack john I watched the game. They got goalie the owners.
The Rangers outplayed the Owners. Well, it's official now.
Speaker 1 (48:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (48:35):
The one thing I always say is, look at what
mcclennan said with you guys yesterday. He thought the Canucks
were gonna win in Edmonton on the weekend because of Demco, right,
and purely because of that'ser Demko.
Speaker 1 (48:44):
So I know it does happen, but especially who was
the goalie that beat them last night?
Speaker 4 (48:47):
Well, exactly, the much maligned Skinner.
Speaker 1 (48:50):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (48:51):
I will say, in New York, when there's a maybeion
other things to do, you need to be putting up
some goals. Otherwise we'll go check out a play or
something else happening in New York.
Speaker 1 (49:00):
Uh, well, you know, yeah, you're gonna check out a play.
Speaker 4 (49:04):
I've been to one play in my life in New York.
Speaker 1 (49:06):
Ever again one more than me?
Speaker 9 (49:07):
Here?
Speaker 1 (49:08):
What did you see?
Speaker 4 (49:09):
Foundom of the Opera?
Speaker 1 (49:10):
It's isn't that forty pursuit?
Speaker 4 (49:12):
And it was just horrible?
Speaker 1 (49:13):
Isn't that like the play? Like lame is? I guess
blame is? Yeah? My parents?
Speaker 4 (49:18):
Maybe it was a nice little nap.
Speaker 1 (49:22):
I think if I go to New York. I haven't
been to New York though, But don't you have to
go see something in New York. You don't have to
do anything because Cat's still running? Wasn't that like the
longest runner? Asking me? I think Cats is done? Is
it done? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (49:36):
The one I would see see is Come from Away?
Speaker 5 (49:39):
Yeah, the one about Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'd be interested
in that.
Speaker 1 (49:44):
Apparently the Lion King is amazing.
Speaker 4 (49:47):
This you know what, We've been on the air for
four and a half years now, we're talking plays.
Speaker 5 (49:51):
This is the licious the low point that this is
what happens when the Canucks are you know, the season,
the way they do.
Speaker 1 (49:57):
Yeah, we'll get.
Speaker 5 (49:57):
Back on the the hockey talk though. Next with Big Button,
TSN's director of scouting. I guarantee he's seen place over
his time. I guarantee Button's up next.
Speaker 1 (50:07):
We're not going to bring it up for them. Don't don't, don't,
don't don't or maybe Jack.
Speaker 4 (50:15):

Speaker 4 (50:44):
It is Wednesday, and all of our guests today, including
Craig Button, standing by, brought to you by our title
sponsor Able Auctions, Able Auctions dot c a as we're
joined by TSN Scotting Director Craig.
Speaker 1 (51:00):
But Craig, thanks for doing this, sir. How are you?
Speaker 10 (51:03):
I am doing great? I see you're both wearing the
dark colors today. Yes, used to you guys being a
little bit brighter, but that's oh what's that?
Speaker 3 (51:11):
Rick?
Speaker 4 (51:12):
Vancouver Giants? They sent Donnie and I a beautiful, beautiful
thing here. Twenty fifth Anniversary twenty fifth Vancouver Giants.
Speaker 1 (51:19):
You love them. You know the Western Hockey League. Good
guys down there. Run Toygo.
Speaker 10 (51:23):
Oh yeah, Ron Toygo does a hell of a job
down there. And you know Ryan Lynn, He's gonna be
a pretty high draft pick coming up in the NHL
draft in June of twenty.
Speaker 4 (51:32):
Six, first rounder Craig, Oh, yeah, for sure.
Speaker 3 (51:35):
No question about it.
Speaker 10 (51:36):
I think the question will be is he gonna be
is he gonna be top ten or is he gonna
be top half.
Speaker 3 (51:40):
Of the first round. But there's no question as a
first rounder.
Speaker 4 (51:43):
Hey, Craig, I got to ask you this. I know
you spent a lot of time living in Montreal, and
I know you watched last night the Habs game, their
home opener. Over to the game itself is fabulous over
time win by the Habs as they come back to win.
But just what was going through your mind when you
saw that terrific Ken Dryden tribute.
Speaker 3 (52:05):
Well, a couple of things went through my head, Donnie.
Number one.
Speaker 10 (52:09):
I felt like, how incredibly lucky I am not only
to have grown up there watching those great teams of
the seventies, but then I'm looking at the bench with
with Ken's teammates from those great seventies teams. Hearing Bob
Gainey's voice with the passage from the game like I
worked with Doug Jarvis. I worked with Bob Ganey and
Jacques Lemaire and Doug Jarvis and Sarah Savard, I mean
(52:32):
people that I know and I know well, and Maro
Trump like it's just and I think and Ken Dryden,
and I just think to myself, like boy as a
kid to watch those great teams and then to not
only work with them, with the with the with the people,
but to know them and to and to feel this
sense of unbelievable and Ken Dryden's words, how incredibly lucky
(52:55):
I feel to not only have grown up there, but
but like I said, seeing those players there go, jeezus,
I'm very truly, truly blessed.
Speaker 4 (53:05):
It was so simple, so well done, and other teams
can certainly learn from all those ceremonies that the havebs
have They just they nail it every single time. Now,
sticking with the Habs for a second, Craig, we saw
the program rebuild and things seem to be really on
the up and up in Montreal. Hockey is better when
(53:26):
the Montreal Canadians are a good, good team. They've got
nine draft picks, nine of their own draft picks in
their lineup, other great young players. Do you understand why
they've extended Ken Hughes and Jeff Gordon?
Speaker 10 (53:38):
Oh one? And you know you think back to November
of twenty twenty one. It was only a short few
months after the Montreal Canadians lost in the Stanley Cup
Final to the Tampa Bay Lightning, and Jeff Molson, the owner, said,
I got to make a change here. You would think
there might be a little bit more latitude for a
rocky start, but Jeff Molson said, no, I don't like
(53:59):
the way this is going.
Speaker 3 (54:00):
Brings in Jeff Gordon.
Speaker 10 (54:01):
It's hard for an owner to embrace the idea, to
say we're going to go to a rebuild. What's even
harder is to execute well. He brings in Jeff Gordon,
who brings in can't use Marty sat in Uige.
Speaker 3 (54:13):
We all know that.
Speaker 10 (54:14):
They have executed exceptionally well to this point in time
and in the future. Forget about the The present looks
promising and the future certainly is promising. So when you
see what Jeff Bolson did and extending those two guys.
I mean, there's every reason to applaud the execution that
because that's not easy on two fronts, the ownership embracing
(54:36):
it and then those two guys executing it.
Speaker 3 (54:39):
It's been done very very strongly.
Speaker 1 (54:41):
Hey, Creig, you know we got to talk Vancouver Petterson,
slow start, one assist, three games, your thoughts, he doesn't
look dangerous, Craig, what's what are your thoughts after three games?
Speaker 10 (54:55):
Well, you know I read a quote and from from
EP forty and he said that I got to be
better after three games. No, EP forty, you gotta be
better after your last one hundred and twenty games.
Speaker 3 (55:07):
They haven't been very good.
Speaker 10 (55:09):
And at some point in time, I don't want to
hear what he has to say. I don't want to
hear his words. I don't want to hear coaches talk
about he's capable of more. It's up to EP forty
to go out and demonstrate it, because right now, the
doubts are only growing, the question marks are only becoming
larger as they surround EP forty. And does he have
(55:30):
three shots on goal? I mean one assist? I mean
he not only does he not look dangerous, he's not engaged.
He's not engaged, and like, if you don't get engaged
and you don't want to get after it, you're not
gonna get results. It's almost like he goes, well, if
it comes to me, good. If it doesn't, that's good.
(55:52):
That's the bottom line. And I don't want to hear.
I don't want to hear you gotta be better. Yeah,
I guess you gotta be better. I'll say this right now. Guys,
he doesn't get his game in order, we're gonna be
talking about him as a buyout candidate.
Speaker 1 (56:05):
Wow, yeah, no question. What about the overall? Canucs start
the center rice position? Craig is gott to improve. They
sent Coots down. You're a big fan of Coots and
what he was doing, But this, how do you like
if they won't and try to get a second line center, Craig,
those guys don't grow on trees, and they cost you
a ton of draft picks, and they cost you a
(56:25):
ton of prospects. You know, in the two twenty twenty
four draft, they traded the first three picks. So like,
what's going on here? How do you improve the center
rice position? It's not gonna be easy.
Speaker 10 (56:35):
No, It isn't, Rick, But you know when you have
your number one center that's not carrying any any type
of significant workload or you know, contribution, well, now I
don't care like that puts an incredible amount of pressure
on your second line center. And Philip heedal has shown
some capability and everything right, but it's not gonna work
(56:57):
unless your first line center gets his gets his game
to a much much higher level.
Speaker 3 (57:03):
So you're right, Rick, you look at like where you're at.
Speaker 10 (57:06):
I'm not so sure that Philip he Doo can't settle
in Like we can always look at what could be better,
or what would be ideal or whatnot, But at some
point in time, I think that EP forty becomes the
elephant in the room.
Speaker 3 (57:23):
He's the elephant in the room, and if he doesn't
get going, nothing else matters.
Speaker 10 (57:28):
And I use nothing in quotation marks because like that's
a that's hyperbole, but the team can't move forward with
him performing at the level he's born and the level
he's performing at subpar unacceptable.
Speaker 4 (57:44):
I don't think people think it's hyperbole, Craig. I think
you're bang on some positivity surrounding the conducs in what
ways is Keifer Shrewood improved as a hockey player.
Speaker 10 (57:56):
Well, I mean, first of all, he plays the game
with the with the boundless energy, and he's he's a competitor.
Like like if I'm if I'm at him foot you like,
I'm gonna show clips of Keifer Shrewod to my team
and and say here's what you gotta do. And and
and you know Daryl Sutter, who I was around, and
(58:17):
I think Dyl Sutter, you know, Darryl Sutter would be
doing he'd be poking EP forty on the bench and going, uh,
that guy works harder than you. Thank you, that guy.
That guy is doing way more than you're doing, like
and and somewhere along the line. And I really believe this,
you know, I was laughing when they said, oh, Craig
Brewby called out William Lander. He did call it William Nilander.
(58:38):
He said he's capable more, We need more from him.
And then he pointed out the areas he needs to
be better, and somebody better start doing that with EP
forty because the excuses are done. If it's me, I
don't want to talk about the excuses and how he
has to be better.
Speaker 3 (58:54):
Let's see you do it through action.
Speaker 4 (58:57):
Well, said, I can't. I love I'm from Vancouver. I
love the fact that I grew up in Bank. I
grew up in Burnaby actually, but I grew up But
there's a part of me that is so jealous of
you growing up in Montreal in the nineteen seventies and
all those you know, I had the Expos too, and
the Alouettes for doing well. There was just so much
going on. But to watch those Habs team on a
(59:17):
regular basis, that must have been something else.
Speaker 10 (59:20):
Well as a teenager too, Like you know, you're right
in that prime time. You know, you're eleven years old
till seventeen years of age, and I mean it's just
unbelievable you're playing hockey and you're watching these great players play.
Speaker 3 (59:32):
It was phenomenal, it really was.
Speaker 10 (59:34):
And certainly again like lucky, I mean, you end up
in a spot where it just ended up coming. It
intersected with my youth, and as I just said at
the beginning, it's intersected with my adult life too.
Speaker 3 (59:47):
And I'm incredibly lucky.
Speaker 4 (59:49):
And now you get to spend one day a week
with us.
Speaker 1 (59:52):
What could be better?
Speaker 4 (59:53):
Greg, I'm incredibly lucky to have that too, trust me.
On that thanks Greg. Next week, Craig Button, TSN Scouting Director.
That was again. I keep going on about that Ken
Dryden tribute, but they just they just do it so well.
All Right, a break and then we'll hit the poll
question and to some other matters as well. Oh yes,
(01:00:16):
we'll have Ken Richardson on from Pastime Sports. All right,

All of our guests today, including Ken Richardson, owner of
Pastime Sports, standing by brought to you by our title sponsor,
Able Auctions. Ableauctions dot c A tonight five to eight
pm at Pastime Sports and Langley the Upper Deck Series
one release party.
Speaker 1 (01:01:30):
Oh yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:01:31):
In joining us to talk about it, the owner of
Pastime Sports, our friend Ken Richardson. Ken, thanks for doing this, sir, How.
Speaker 11 (01:01:39):
Are you fantastic? Thanks for having me.
Speaker 4 (01:01:43):
Tell us about the event happening tonight.
Speaker 1 (01:01:46):
Well.
Speaker 11 (01:01:47):
Upperdeck Series one is release days today. It's always one
of the biggest days of the year for any hockeycard collector.
It's definitely the most widely elected hockey cards set every year,
and we're looking forward to hosting a big group of
(01:02:08):
people all busting the same boxes and seeing which rookie
cards of you know, first cards of guys that they're
able to get out of there. And certainly this year
we have you know, a big one with Demodov making
it into the packs this year.
Speaker 4 (01:02:25):
Yeah, and what a game he had last night. Fabulous goal,
fabulous assistant von Demenov, Montreal Canadians. We understand there is
a one hundred thousand dollars bounty on the one of
one gold Outburst Demodov card. Why is this so valuable?
Speaker 1 (01:02:41):
Ken?
Speaker 4 (01:02:43):
Well?
Speaker 11 (01:02:43):
The Young Guns is the most widely collected rookie cards
of any player, and starting in Connor Bedard's rookie year
twenty three to twenty four, they started to do a
new parallel set where there's an outburst what they call it.
It's a foil board card and they have them where
(01:03:04):
they're not numbered, and then they have a red version
at a twenty five and a gold version that's a
one of one. And in Badard's rookie year, there was
a big bounty put on the card and we thought
we would do that to add a little bit more
fun and excitement at the shop. So if someone happens
(01:03:26):
to pull that card in the shop during our release party,
we're willing to stroke a check for one hundred thousand
dollars for the car.
Speaker 1 (01:03:35):
We can talk about some upcoming events. You got Jake DeBras,
Jonathan le Karamaki and a good pal of ours, Trevor Lindon.
Speaker 11 (01:03:45):
Yeah, Trevor. This time it's just gonna be a drop
off service where people can drop their items off with
us and for a fee, we can have Trevor sign
the item and deliver it prior to Christmas, including any
special Christmas messages for the person that you might be
(01:04:07):
shopping for. So that's a really cool opportunity there. Jake
Debrusk will be in our Langley location November twenty second,
and we are going to have Connor Garland back at
the Langley shop prior to Christmas as well, and hopefully
(01:04:31):
by next week we'll have a few more local players
that we can announce that'll be at the shop soon.
Speaker 1 (01:04:40):
Ken can't thank you enough.
Speaker 4 (01:04:41):
What tonight It's going to be tonight and always fun
and lot's going on at Fast Time Sports.
Speaker 11 (01:04:46):
Thanks so much, my friend, wonderful Thanks for having me.
Speaker 1 (01:04:49):
You bet.
Speaker 4 (01:04:50):
And it's not just a book cards there, there's Jersey.
It's like coming into a museum.
Speaker 1 (01:04:54):
I love going in there.
Speaker 4 (01:04:55):
I love it except a sports museum, except things are
for sale. You can grab the okay with that. In
my Pastime Sports, we're going to open up. You can
go first year, no you go. Pastime Sports has provided
us with a couple of upper deck packages of cards.
We're gonna open up. What's wrong, Ryan, what's not nothing?
Speaker 5 (01:05:11):
Nothing nothing, I'm just opening but I'm just gonna wash
your hands. If you get the demonov, I don't want
to see it, you know, casually go in your pocket
or anything.
Speaker 1 (01:05:20):
I get the hundred grand.
Speaker 5 (01:05:21):
No, no, no, no, no no, we're just splitting that three ways.
Speaker 4 (01:05:24):

Speaker 1 (01:05:25):

got Jared McCann. A big mistake by the Canucks.
Speaker 4 (01:05:31):

gonna trade that card.
Speaker 1 (01:05:35):
Show Derek the cards. What do you want? Demop? Well, no,
what do you want? And I'll give you a McCann.
It's in black and white, Derek camera, Look at this.
That's a special canvas card.
Speaker 5 (01:05:47):

Speaker 1 (01:05:52):
I got camp Fowler. Oh signed a big deal? Yeah
you just didn't. Just in town.
Speaker 4 (01:05:57):
This is not our best moment here, but camp Fowler
say Lewis Blues love those old Blues uniforms. Rasmus Dallen.
He can't be How long is he going to be
in Buffalo? This could be a really valuable card. He
can't be happy there?
Speaker 1 (01:06:09):
Right? What else?
Speaker 4 (01:06:10):
Rick?
Speaker 1 (01:06:11):

Look at this? What waddling dog pole question should keep?
For sure? Would be a regular member of the Canucks
at top six. Look at this six hundred plus votes
and sixty six percent say yes and thirty four percent
say no. Interesting, Yeah, very interesting.
Speaker 4 (01:08:44):
Okay, let's take a break, thankfully, DTMZ next Donny Dollar
the team check. It's eleven twenty nine on a Wednesday morning,
Donny Dolly on check TV time for DTMZ brought to
you by the.
Speaker 1 (01:09:01):
World famous Wistln Golf Club. Go see big all out there,
Great track, Great Track.
Speaker 4 (01:09:06):
A DTMZ brought to you by the Arnold Palmer design
was the golf club where our extensive golf course renovation
is now underway. For weekly updates on their construction progress,
follow them on Instagram at Whistler Golf. More than two
decades we mentioned the Montreal expost earlier. Are paying attention
to the Expos?
Speaker 1 (01:09:25):
So?
Speaker 4 (01:09:25):
Are you kidding me?
Speaker 1 (01:09:26):
Blue Monday?
Speaker 4 (01:09:28):
More than two decades after in Craig Button, of course, Yeah,
I used to watch the Expos back in the day.
More than two decades after the team head itself, the
Montreal Expos remain one of Major League Baseball's biggest mysteries.
How exactly did a team with a loyal fan base
and a history of playing competitive ball wind up going
funked so south? That subject explored in the Netflix documentary
(01:09:52):
Who Killed the Montreal Expos, available just around the corner
to stream October twenty First.
Speaker 1 (01:09:58):
Our fans were always they're cheering.
Speaker 9 (01:10:01):
Baseball was everyday light.
Speaker 4 (01:10:03):
All the explodes In ninety four, were the best team
in baseball. It was completely wild in Montreal, the biggest
party you've ever been to.
Speaker 3 (01:10:13):
Like that.
Speaker 4 (01:10:19):
We never would have thought we could potentially lose a
team here.
Speaker 9 (01:10:24):
Why why is that team gone? I heard things, but
I don't know what's real and what's not real?
Speaker 1 (01:10:30):
So who killed the Montreal Expose?
Speaker 4 (01:10:35):
The Expo's death is kind of like a big game
of clue.
Speaker 2 (01:10:39):
Lots of motives, lots of suspects.
Speaker 4 (01:10:42):
We have a long list.
Speaker 2 (01:10:45):
Is it the owner, Claude BROOCHU?
Speaker 4 (01:10:47):
They blame me?
Speaker 3 (01:10:48):
It's your fault.
Speaker 1 (01:10:49):
Absolutely not.
Speaker 2 (01:10:50):
The team's president Jeffrey Laurie.
Speaker 9 (01:10:53):
Didn't know about baseball.
Speaker 1 (01:10:54):
It will no longer be business as usual.
Speaker 9 (01:10:56):
A strike hits major League Baseball.
Speaker 1 (01:10:58):
The nineteen ninety four strike.
Speaker 6 (01:11:00):
To strike was what pushed the Expos toward the.
Speaker 4 (01:11:02):
Exit looking good. The Expos were in existence from nineteen
sixty nine to four. They moved down to Washington in
four and the documentary explores the reasons why. As you
probably figured out, Peter Martinez, is that Larry Walker there,
our friend from Maple Ridge, Vladimir Guerrero Senior, and Felipe Alou,
(01:11:27):
along with journalists and former employees.
Speaker 1 (01:11:30):
Andre Dawson, Gary Carter, Randy Johnson. I keep going, Donny.
Speaker 4 (01:11:36):
Yeah, you know what I didn't realize with the exposed
they were on from sixty nine to four, and I'd
forgotten they only get the playoffs once. And that was
what you were talking about about Monday, back back in
Dodgers back in eighty one, Netflix, October twenty first, and
of course tonight, Major League Baseball playoffs continue with the
Jays and Mariners down in Seattle. Mariners, of course, up
(01:11:57):
to zip and boy, the Dodgers looked dominant. They're up
two zip two road winds against Milwaukee. Reck money can
buy you a good roster, Donny, Yeah, yeah, but you
know Milwaukee's had a heck of a season.
Speaker 1 (01:12:08):
But boy, top team.
Speaker 4 (01:12:10):
The pitching for the Dodgers have been just out outstanding.
We'll see what happens with your Blue Jays tonight down
in Seattle.
Speaker 1 (01:12:16):
Let's go Jay's birthdays, birthdays. Okay, here we go. Why
are you so rattled today? First?
Speaker 4 (01:12:22):
The bird the card stuff there, Derek screwed up the
camera that that really rattled me, really right, don't tell
people why?
Speaker 1 (01:12:31):
Okay, Ryan, what are you doing? The music? Let's go.
Speaker 4 (01:12:37):
Five birthdays Wednesday, October fifteenth.
Speaker 1 (01:12:39):
It's brought to you by Donnie Ryan, get her Up,
Ricky D's PI Services and No Fril's Casino and Rollo Saskatchewan.
That picture of you a strong chin there chin and
it looks like I have one chin, unlike when I'm
on TV more than one.
Speaker 4 (01:12:56):
You're dreaming, great substache, Donnie stopping. You know that the
camera does on TV. It's apparently real, low I said,
he's told me Rollo.
Speaker 1 (01:13:08):
I know, I know. We've been. We've been, We've been.
It's I'm not believing you. People have told us people.
We got other people saying Rulo.
Speaker 4 (01:13:18):
I asked you guys before the show, and Donnie said,
Rollo Saskatchewan. Yeah, you're having a lot of trouble.
Speaker 1 (01:13:24):
Time having that's your fault. You gave it to me.
All right, here we go. Uh, Donnie, you better get
this first round pick. In twenty ten, Big Power Forward
played eleven straight years for the Islanders before getting traded
last year.
Speaker 4 (01:13:40):
Brock Nelson, brock brock Nelson absolutely first one there.
Speaker 1 (01:13:44):
That's that's really good. In twenty eighteen, this Canadian inducted
into the Hockey Hall of Fame. The NHL has a
Community Hero Award in his.
Speaker 4 (01:13:55):
This is not the hat.
Speaker 1 (01:13:57):
Okay, this one's for you, because if you get this,
you're cheating. This retired pitcher played nineteen years in Major
League Baseball, winning his MLB pitcher in the nineteen seventies
one hundred and eighty six wins. He did a lot
of commercials for Jockey underwear. Jim Palmer, boom and what
are you talking about? Ryan? Those commercials the underwear, Donny,
(01:14:20):
they were great commercials.
Speaker 4 (01:14:21):
You should actually show us. But anyways, Orioles' good. Get
on those underwear commercials along with the underwear.
Speaker 1 (01:14:26):
It was good. Uh did you wear jockey?
Speaker 8 (01:14:29):
No?
Speaker 1 (01:14:29):
I didn't wear jockey. No, I'm not a jockey guy.
But anyways, you remember jockey underwear? You go commando? No, okay.
This singer inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
He's a member of a very famous music family. His
real name is Torriano Adderill. His brother is Michael Jackson.
Speaker 4 (01:14:53):
Was Tito. Huh is it Tito?
Speaker 1 (01:14:56):
It's Tito. It's Tito.
Speaker 4 (01:14:58):
Yeah, so he's world his first first name and second name.
Speaker 1 (01:15:02):
His first and second name.
Speaker 4 (01:15:03):
His real name is Torriano Adderil, That's what I'm telling you. Yeah,
Jackson and then Jackson. Tito's a nickname anyways. This popular
Argentine born Irish singer released such top chart topping the
albums as Into the Light and Flying Colors.
Speaker 1 (01:15:24):
Come On, Shakira, Nah No, Shakira, give me a break.
He's seventy six. He started out as an art.
Speaker 4 (01:15:31):
Rock performer why I Can't Get This, and then started
writing more pop oriented material, several top forty hits in
the UK and two in the US and Argentina Argentina
Irish singer Now I'm gonna give you the final clue
and You're gonna get it one of my favorite songs
of all time nineteen eighty six.
Speaker 1 (01:15:51):
His most famous hit, lady.
Speaker 4 (01:15:54):
In Red, Oh christ Burgh, Christa Berg Christopher Lady Red
was so oh, great song.
Speaker 1 (01:16:00):
Great song.
Speaker 4 (01:16:01):
Thy You're right a ton, the show's over.
Speaker 1 (01:16:03):
Hey, well you guys, I give you one hundred hints
about Christo Burg. You didn't get it seventy six to
Was he in Vancouver last year? I think he was?
He was in Vancouver last year. You're done, I'm done.
Speaker 4 (01:16:16):
That hockey card thing has got you flustered. Okay, we're
good for all of the people know, Hey, is it
just me?
Speaker 1 (01:16:22):
Is coming up?
Speaker 4 (01:16:23):
Lots of submissions today, a lot of them aboute Craig Button,
who was on fire regarding a certain Vancouver center. Meanwhile,
Paul Simon turned eighty four on Sunday and he's gonna
help play us out April nineteen seventy and the album
Bridge Over Troubled Water also featured in the series Stick.
This is Simon and Garfunkle and Cecilia on Check playing
(01:16:47):
the music you love on a BC Wednesday morning. Is
it just me?
Speaker 1 (01:16:51):
It's yes? Is it just me? Rick? Rock and roll?
All right? This is from our good pal Steve with
(01:17:13):
the Canucks be Better team, would be a suitor in
the lineup. I think they're gonna miss him more than
they thought. He had twenty one goals last year, I
think twenty five and limited time Donnie, and he looked
the other night for Saint Louis. Yeah, he really did, had.
Speaker 4 (01:17:25):
A chance to score and it could play both for
promming both wing, wing and center.
Speaker 1 (01:17:31):
Yeah, yeah, real valuable new s Nick, This is good?
Is it just me?
Speaker 4 (01:17:35):
But if Pedson had half the passion Button had in
that interview, he wouldn't be in the mess he created again,
that's from New West.
Speaker 1 (01:17:43):
Nick.
Speaker 4 (01:17:43):
Nick, I'll say what I said yesterday that I there's
blame to go around here.
Speaker 1 (01:17:50):
Yeah, all big time.
Speaker 4 (01:17:51):
Somebody frozen eleven point six million dollar a year contract
in front of you. You're you're gonna it's not his fault.
It's not his fault, and it's not his hate contracts
on his fault. Yeah, his contract's not his fault. And
if he had ten points right now, we would be
absolutely raving about him. Done, we'd be raving about him.
Speaker 1 (01:18:08):
But the people can't handle it that he's got one
of sis and you might have to say something negative.
Speaker 4 (01:18:13):
And Craig is an I'm paraphrasing here, questioning the work ethic, work.
Speaker 1 (01:18:18):
Ethic and just everything else. Keep for sure, what should
not be our best offensive player on the ice. Perhaps
someone who makes a lot more money would be appropriate.
P Suri Troy.
Speaker 4 (01:18:30):
And we know who he's talking about in us, Nick,
Is it just me? But Dempko is doing everything he
can to keep Hughes a Canuck and Peterson is doing nothing.
And that is and that is that, that is what
will be why he likely leaves something like that. I
think he got the gist of it. Dempko's first two
(01:18:52):
games terrific, spectacular, borderline is spectacular. And I know he
lost one of them, but he was the only reason
they reave close up up in Abbonton. And that's just
so great for Canuck fans. That's who you you know,
I care about the populateus seems.
Speaker 1 (01:19:08):
Fine and Donny, isn't that a great example of a
guy Dempko rebounding from a lot of adversity. Patterson can
do the same, go do it. We went through this
last year with Garland. No offense to Surewood or Garland,
but if you're if you're the best players, then there's
something wrong with the team. That's from a chief swagger
from Hell's Kitchen. He's basically saying, Garland and sure what
(01:19:30):
shouldn't be your best players? And he's correct, it should
be the guys making six, seven, eight eleven million.
Speaker 4 (01:19:36):
It should be. But right at this point it's not.
It's naturally And I just want to say this and
I can't. I don't even know if we've touched on
this earlier. But for the people who talk about it's
only three games, true, it's only been three games this season,
but I think a lot of the people that are complaining,
and what we focus on is not just the three games,
but going back to last year, which was just so
(01:19:59):
hard to watch, so hard to take for so many
people who care about the Canucks. So it's not just
about the three games. He goes back to last.
Speaker 1 (01:20:07):
Year and Button said, it's back to one hundred and
twenty games ago. It's one hundred and twenty games a goal. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:20:13):
Is it just me from Tony and Abbotsford or have
the Knucks quietly done the Donnie rebuilt one of the
youngest rosters in the league with a true superstar. Seems
pretty rebuild. Ye to me? Again, that's from Tony in Abtsford.
What frightens me if I'm a Knuck fan? Is this
talk of and you talk about it all the time.
(01:20:34):
We got to get another center, we got to get
a second line center, I guess. But what are you
giving up Vlander?
Speaker 1 (01:20:41):
Or are you giving up Coots? Lakaramaki.
Speaker 4 (01:20:43):
Lakaramaki're not giving up I've been told he's untouchable. Okay, sure,
but you know what I'm saying, the other guy giving
up one of your prospects, maybe giving up draft picks
like come on, no, keep those do what Montreal is doing.
Speaker 1 (01:21:01):
A lot of the buy out stuff I'm seeing, Donnie,
I don't know that the buyouts, not even on the
Canucks mines. That's that's down the road. If it doesn't
approve in a year or two, then you got to
seriously think of it. But he's got it.
Speaker 4 (01:21:12):
I told you could go on this road trip and
get nine points in five games.
Speaker 1 (01:21:15):
You don't know that.
Speaker 4 (01:21:15):
Dot Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna bet against that.
Speaker 1 (01:21:20):
I'm trying to be it'd be great if it happened.
I'm trying to be positive. He could get nine points
in five games on the road trip and everyone's gonna
look stupid. Lying Colors is also the name of a
Trooper album that had a song re dressed up as
a nine, something that Rick is familiar with when at
Castle Blanca is in news. I used to go to
Castle Blanca's. Yeah, but first we went to Mugs and Jugs,
(01:21:41):
then no No, we started a Queen's Park, then Mugs
and Jugs, then Chicago Tonight, then the Towers, than Castablanca's.
Speaker 4 (01:21:48):
Thanks to the tour of newest Minster eighties back in
the eighties for the Burnaby guys I hung out with.
It was Mountain Shadow. Oh, then into Coquitlam John b.
And then if the night wasn't going that well, Boone County.
Speaker 1 (01:22:03):
What about Diegos It was just there on South. Okay,
so that was on that King's Way, just on the
Is it just me?
Speaker 4 (01:22:09):
But hey, Rick, what about Zach Hyman? Fourth liner in
Toronto to elite goal scorer that's on signed and that's
that's put that in your pipe.
Speaker 1 (01:22:17):
I'm talking you. The only the only one you came
up was with Burrows. All look at Burrows went from
line four. That's the only one. Another guy.
Speaker 4 (01:22:27):
But their similarities opera, just the effort level and and
the talent, Like look at that goal scorer the other day.
Oh like the breakaway, the moves, he was fabulous. Seeked
him right out and that was you know, that was
Benningtonny beat Right.
Speaker 1 (01:22:44):
There's a lot of tickets available for game four and
five in Seattle. Uh, let's go Jay's Concrete, Craig Ryan,
is that correct?
Speaker 4 (01:22:55):
Hold on must.
Speaker 1 (01:22:57):
It's sold out. There's a lot of the Second and
Dary market.
Speaker 4 (01:23:00):
Sure.
Speaker 1 (01:23:01):
Oh I see okay, so talking about yeah, both games,
all the games are sold out.
Speaker 5 (01:23:06):
Now, whether you want to pay the prices that you
would have to pay to get especially if they win tonight.
Speaker 1 (01:23:11):
If they win tonight, if the no, if if the
Mariners the marriage went to those prices drop No are
you kidding? If they want to be there? Taking from
a Jays fans point.
Speaker 5 (01:23:24):
Oh no, No, like from a local. You know your your
season ticket older. Now you're gonna have to give me
a ton to give up tickets on the possibility you're
going to see your team advanced in.
Speaker 1 (01:23:32):
The world too.
Speaker 4 (01:23:33):
But if the Jays went tonight, and I'm a Jay's fan,
I want to I'm likely to go down there, which
I'm not, by the way.
Speaker 5 (01:23:39):
I will say though, like Farness did bring up a
good point yesterday, I'm curious what the turnout will be
based on how the series is started. Maybe not so
much from BC, but don't forget, like when those series
happened during the season, it's not just bcars that are there.
There's a lot of people from Alberta that come in there,
Saskatchewan even that come in there, Manitoba. That's a massive
commitment every time your team's done to nothing.
Speaker 1 (01:23:59):
Maybe I'm making.
Speaker 4 (01:24:00):
I've been down there several times and every time I
go there, there's always whatever the reason may be, there's
always somebody with a Saskatchewan rough Riders jersey.
Speaker 1 (01:24:08):
But is that every sporting event? Maybe it's everywhere. Yeah,
I remember seeing it the Masters once. Yeah, like yeah,
of course, yeah, what you got. I have to agree
with Rick here. The future is so bright with braid
and coot, so bright you gotta wear shapes, Don and Chickamus.
That's Corey Hart. Let's let's let's let's let's relax a little.
(01:24:31):
Are you? Are you so? I mean, come on having
some fun? Yeah, but I mean, yeah, I know.
Speaker 4 (01:24:38):
He's the one draft pick in the last five, six, seven,
eight years and this team keeps trading first and second rounders.
This is the first guy that's come in and challenged them.
Speaker 1 (01:24:47):
And opening night is an eighteen. As an eighteen, it's
an eighteen? Ryan, What are you talking about? This kid
is unbelievable. A lot of it has to do with it.
Speaker 4 (01:24:54):
But they're weake at center exactly exactly. But it isn't
take it away. But that's just what I don't get.
There's what Here's what I don't get. There's a lot
is that there's a lot I don't get but in
terms of hockey and the way this team is run
is like, nothing excites a fan base more than wins
and playoffs exactly. But right up there with that is
(01:25:16):
the excitement created. Look when Quinnhughes made his debut all
those years ago with the Kings, Besser's first game in Minnesotast.
Speaker 1 (01:25:26):
Calgary, that goal against Calgary.
Speaker 4 (01:25:27):
Nothing excites a fan base more than that. I just
don't get why they wouldn't want more of that and
committing to a rebuild, committing to young players. I don't
because nothing what they're doing right now is not working.
Speaker 1 (01:25:40):
Did you see the atmosphere last night with Cole Caulfield
scored with Yeah, deal was amazing. I mean there's nothing
there's that hope, There's just nothing. There's nothing like it,
and they just don't seem to don't seem to get it.
Ryan not take away with what Coots is saying. Let's
(01:26:00):
slow it a little, slow it a little, don't This
kid is a captain, the youngest captain in.
Speaker 5 (01:26:05):
The Western That's awesome, awesome, that's all great. I'm just
saying people are making it seem like.
Speaker 4 (01:26:11):
I think I might have been more excited had he
made his debut, and if they were a little stronger,
if Lueger was around stronger. He made his debut as
a nineteen year old, and then there were I think
there'd be more there. Yeah, it looked great in the preseason.
The reality kicked in in these fifties three games.
Speaker 1 (01:26:26):
And they played him with another rookie on the right side,
a fourth liner on the left side. I mean, he
didn't have much to play with.
Speaker 4 (01:26:31):
Come on, man, RP and white Rock Is it just me?
Come on, Rick, Maybe having Sherwood to the top six
will help improve the play of eleven to six. Sometimes
giving a hot player more ice time improves the play
of the rest of your team. And you know what,
Sherewood actually was up there in forward ice time against
against Saint Louis.
Speaker 1 (01:26:51):
Just so you know, well, they're putting Garland with Peterson
now the same thing. Energy. Can that happened last game? Yeah?
The energy guy. Okay, we got take a break.
Speaker 4 (01:27:00):
I will wrap up the show in the poll question
next Donnie Dolly the telaut.
Speaker 1 (01:27:03):

Speaker 4 (01:27:54):
Oh okay, so Donna sickamol says, corrected us. Yeah, Tim
Buck three, this is timber Future, so bright, I remember
this song.
Speaker 1 (01:28:04):
This is a good song too.
Speaker 4 (01:28:06):
Sunglasses at Night was Corey.
Speaker 1 (01:28:07):
Hart, Canadian nineteen eighty three, November eleventh. That was debut
for Corey Hart that day.
Speaker 4 (01:28:12):
But he wasn't in tim Buck three. No, which, by
the way, is a questionable name for a band. Don't
put that on our band name.
Speaker 1 (01:28:19):
So this is tim Buck three. Yes, okay, good song.
Speaker 4 (01:28:23):
They played this at Boone County, Yeah, actually they did.
Speaker 1 (01:28:26):
It was all country music. Okay, up dog poll Rick, Ryan,
get her up right, get rid of the song?
Speaker 4 (01:28:32):
All right, cranking our waddeling dog poll question stopping Ryan
should kee for sure would be a regular in the
top six sixty five percent say yes, thirty five percent no.
Seven hundred votes and we put it up late today
and so it's up now.
Speaker 1 (01:28:49):
Key for sure?
Speaker 4 (01:28:50):
What the Canucks in Dallas song on Thursday? Pictures.
Speaker 1 (01:28:54):
First, I want to our good friend Joe F in
White Rock. He's going shout, yeah, a shout out, going
through a tough time with his family. Joe, We're thinking
of you and absolutely nothing but the best for you
and your family. Joe F and White Rock.
Speaker 4 (01:29:07):
All the best to Joe. Yeah, pictures photos. This is
a friend of yours, I think Ryan, get her up? Yeah,
hold on, I just had.
Speaker 1 (01:29:16):
It's Dave. It's Dave. Yeah, and Dave says to you
don your old friend Daisy.
Speaker 4 (01:29:22):
Yeah, look at this beautiful guy. Was a hell of
a hockey player.
Speaker 1 (01:29:25):
Wow.
Speaker 4 (01:29:26):
I played paper league with them, great hockey player. Yeah,
all the best, Daisy.
Speaker 1 (01:29:31):
Yeah, there you go, so Daisy, thanks for supporting the show.
Beautiful beautiful jacket. There Ryan, where we going now? Halifax?
Speaker 4 (01:29:39):
Oh? Yes, yes, Halifax, right now, hold on a sec
This is right, Ginger, Yeah, Ginger in Halifax. Look at
this representing the show in beautiful Halifax. Ginger from White Rock. Oh,
this is a beautiful photo.
Speaker 1 (01:29:55):
Ginger. You can't beat this Donny Dolly's shirt in beautiful downtown.
Speaker 4 (01:30:01):
And I wonder how many times which he would come
through the door at someplace somebody would say, where's Marianne? Oh,
Ginger and Marianne with Gilligan's Island Donnie, Uh, just the best, both.
Speaker 1 (01:30:14):
Of them, just both of them. Don't shake your head.
Gilligan's Island was a big show. You can't do that, Ryan, Gilligan, Ginger, Marianne, Professor,
mister and missus Howell Skipper, they always screwed it up
