How's your weekend? Oh?

Speaker 5 (00:57):
Lovely, couldn't be better? Hockey Morning he was great.

Speaker 4 (01:01):
Yeah, Sunday was something else from so many points of view.
But the Canucks defeat the Capitals four to three, and
we'll talk about the Blue Jays Mariners Game seven in
a bid here, but let's focus on the local hockey
team again. Cannucks over the Capitals four to three. All
sorts of news from the give.

Speaker 5 (01:20):
Now three and zero on this road trop We saw
that tramp, but they're doing great.

Speaker 4 (01:24):
It continues Tuesday in Pittsburgh. All sorts of news both
bad and good from that game, and news today regarding
in part, what happened yesterday in Washington. Let's get to
the highlights and then we'll get to that news. Derek,
were good, rock and roll Capitol Wan Arena, Washington, DC.

(01:46):
Just under a minute in Connor Garland from the corner
sets up Eleas Patterson his first goal of the season
on nothing. Cannucks in the road white with the blue
and green trim. There's some silver in there as well.
Late first, Quinn Hughes with the neutral zone interception ahead
to Philip heatel Hetel busting in, stopped by Charlie Lindgren.

(02:08):
Wild scramble in front, and there to pounce is Tyler
Myers career goal number one hundred for the ex Colowna
Rocket and it's two nothing. The Cove Canucks get another
forty one seconds later on the power play, Connor Garland
left side. His shot is stop but there to gobble
up another rebound is Keefer as in Sherwood his fourth

(02:29):
of the young season. It's three nothing Canucks. Then controversy.
Philip Headel with speed passes and is hammered by Tom Wilson.
Initially ruled a major penalty. They reviewed it. No call
on the play, no major, no minor two for interference
at the very leaguest come on. End of the game
for Heel, by the way. Five minutes into the third

(02:51):
dice pinched by Myers resulting in Evander Kaine kicking the
puck to Teddy Blueger his first he liked. Heatel, however,
left the game due to injury. Four nothing, Capital is
on a power play, a nice pockwork Dylan's trump to
Tom Wilson to Ryan Leonard Thatcher Dampko stopped him once,
not twice. Four one, so the Caps are on the board.
Jacob Chickrin made it four to two. Then two minutes left,

(03:13):
goalie pulled John Carlson at the point, how is that?
Sut Gars? What happened to that four goal? Lead? Four
to three? And the Capitals continue to press with the
extra attacker, but look who's there to deny them? And
Les Petterson with back to back blocks on Alex Levechkin,
the second block the old k Tael Patty Stacker. That
was it. Time expires Cannock's edge Washington for to three

(03:37):
in Pittsburgh on Tuesday. Okay, And when you look at
that entirety of that shift for LEAs Petterson, he didn't
block of Echkin twice, he blocked him three times. So
very impressive effort, his best effort of the season by far.
Les Petterson gets that first goal and is stout defensively.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
Look good for him. And three and zero on the
road trip, Donnie character injuries, guys going down three guys,
two hurt in the first period. They come up with
a win against the third best team in the East.
Good on them.

Speaker 4 (04:07):
So blueger out heatl out. We didn't mention Jonathan Laker
Mackie getting injured as well. Early. You've got some updates
regarding moves by the Canucks today. With all of that
in mind, so it was let me just say this
before we go any further. I can't remember a game
where there was so much good news and so much

(04:28):
bad news all in one exactly like the way Tyler
Myers gets his one career goal. Just a gutsy, gutsy
effort with a depleted roster. But then you've got the
injuries and today's news.

Speaker 5 (04:42):
Rick, Yeah, Ryan, can you show the tweet the Vancouver
Canucks And now, okay, what we what we know of
this is salary cap gymnastics to maximize their l t
I R. Pool, so Hetel and the Karamaki on the
injured reserve, Man Seni assigned to Absford. Joe jus Levate
and Jimmy Schultz have been recalled from Abby Niles. Hollelander

(05:06):
is on.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
Lt I R. Now let me say Fraser, was he not?
Donnie hole Glander on lt I R.

Speaker 5 (05:14):
Let me tell you that Jimmy Schultz is a paper transaction. Okay,
I don't know what look I barid he got past
grade eight. I'm not here to tell you I'm a
math expert. This is all about juggling money around. So
let me tell you this Hoglander has not had a setback.
He's on pace. This is a cap move. Schultz is
a paper transaction. Mancini, this one hurts. I don't think

(05:37):
the Canucks are happy this is a cap move. He's
gotta go physically Toavisburg. He's gotta physically play Friday. The
old rules last year, Donnie, you do this, stays with
the team, plays in Pittsburgh tomorrow. Can't do that anymore.
He's got a hop on a plane and I don't
think the club's happy about this. He's got a hop
on a plane and play in Abas for Friday dawn.

(05:57):
This one hurts Nancy only. We'll take six minutes, yeah, Doney,
five minutes in the box. Five in the box. I
mean that that hurts that six minutes, seven minutes. This
is not performance related. It's cap move. Everybody can see
Mancini stuck up against Douhame in that fight to hayme's
a tough, tough customer. This is that the poor kid
got sent down. It's cap related all that stuff. So anyways,

(06:20):
a lot of this is I don't get it, but
I've been told salary cap gymnastics.

Speaker 4 (06:26):
Sure, but okay, uh so the good news here for
the Canucks.

Speaker 5 (06:31):
Yeah, I don't see Teddy Blueger on this. Thank you
on this, thank you, and I'll tell you this too.
Tom Willander was in play last night. Niles him on
was in play last night. All because of Blueger's health.
There was a possibility where today you would have seen
Wilander up cap move all this stuff. I don't get it, don.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
But they are bringing up Lebit who was pretty good
in the preseason.

Speaker 5 (06:54):
Yeah, and absolutely Lebait deserves to come up, big guy
up the middle of the ice, Doney. But anyways, this
is all cap related, gymnastics, all this stuff.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
Well, it's also injury related.

Speaker 5 (07:04):
Oh, it's injury related for sure.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
What's the latest on? First of all, looks like, you know,
with no news on Teddy Blueger. It looks like and
remember he was injured earlier on top of yesterday, which
was late late in that game. A lot of people
might have missed it. But what's the latest on? Let's
start with Philip Heatel and what an awful moment that

(07:26):
was for him, especially given his concussions.

Speaker 5 (07:29):
You feel for him. He had a great summer, he
worked hard on his shot. The poor guy. Okay, everybody
wants an update, but okay, ask yourself, if you or
I got a concussion, do you think you're getting an
update twelve hours later or twenty four hours later? So
it's hard to Die. I know it's hard. What I'm
saying to you, it's hard. Is it a concussion? Is
it a whiplash? Most would be surprised, though, don if

(07:52):
this was not a concussion, they should know more today,
no more tomorrow. How did he sleep, how did he
get up when he woke up this morning? You know,
can he get on a plane. There's so many things
at play to have a concrete update on heatel is.
It's very early. They're still monitoring, obviously, but Donnie, hard

(08:12):
to diagnose concussions in the first twenty four to forty
eight hours. And you know what, don people that have
had concussions would tell you the same.

Speaker 4 (08:18):
Well, people that have had concussions are more likely to
have another concussion, and we know that's the case with
the Philip Heels. So all the best to him.

Speaker 5 (08:27):
Just you feel so bad for the guy.

Speaker 4 (08:29):
I mean, I'm sorry, but he is so effective. Oh yeah,
like that on the Meyers goal, him busting in there,
and I think he's hard to the net. He's almost
effective to a fault, and that what we just taught
Well you just said there hard to the net. He
is very brave direct almost to again to a fault.

(08:50):
Where he sets himself up for his I'm not saying
it's his fault for second, but he sets himself up
for hits like the one we saw. Okay, now before
I want to talk a little more about that.

Speaker 5 (09:00):
Okay, let's go. But Jonathan kermckie, that one they're still
waiting on this morning, they're getting they're doing more tests
and all that stuff, don't you it's that this happened yesterday.
It's so hard to get updates and all these that
they're all being what do they call it, uh a
diagnosed or they're all getting looked at.

Speaker 4 (09:17):
It looked like a shoulder with that.

Speaker 5 (09:18):
Yeah, it was definitely a shoulder, But what is the
extent of the injury they're all waiting for. There's a
whole bunch of waiting going on.

Speaker 4 (09:25):
Do we have the visuals of the hit boy, the
Wilson hit on heetel neutral zone. Let's run it, guys,
if you don't mind, we don't have it all right, So,
initially called a major you know, five minute penalty, he
goes in the box and then they decide after after reviewing.

Speaker 5 (09:49):
It nothing nothing.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
So you know, I don't know how many times I've
seen this not often but review it a major, which
he you automatically review and usually it gets produced to
a minor. But this was reduced to nothing, and like
to me, at the very least, that's interference.

Speaker 5 (10:10):
It's a late hit. It's a late hit. It's not dirty.
It's one of the most feared body tradatory, it's one
of the most feared body checkers in the National Hockey League.
I'm sorry people. That guy's big, he's strong, He hits
like a missile. Heatel has been in his division for years,
done before he got to Vancouver. Where do you think
he'll played in that division? You got to be aware

(10:31):
of that guy. When you play the Washington Capitol's bottom line,
you got to have your head on a swivel.

Speaker 4 (10:35):
But do you expect to get hit like that?

Speaker 5 (10:37):
That's late, it's late, it's late.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
But you're right. You have to be aware.

Speaker 5 (10:41):
You have to be one hundred percent aware when Tom
Wilson he does that sort of thing. Yeah, he's one
of the best open ice hitters in the National Hockey League.
Every single body. When you're on the ice and Tom
Wilson's on the ice, you gotta be aware of this guy.
Where is he done? Where and don't admire your past.
You know, sometimes you make a pass. Remember Ham who's
got hit by gets lab And Alan Vignoe said, nope,

(11:03):
he was admiring his past. Sometimes that happens too.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
Yeah, And and Philip Pedal had said in the off season,
I remember hearing an interview with him from Checchia where
he said, like he's he's working on that sort of
thing that he has to be more aware of where
he is on the ice, who's on the ice. But
these things happen in the instance, and it's it's it's
tough to be aware at all times. Fastests are happening

(11:29):
so so so quickly. I thought that the very least
would call interference, reduce it to a minor, just to
make sure the temperature didn't go up in the game.
So this this leads to the other question, and let's
introduce the waddling dog poll question. Watling dog poll question

(11:50):
experience one of Victoria's iconic destinations, sleep sip stock up
all in one legendary spot. Come sit and stay at
the waddling dog today.

Speaker 5 (11:59):
Rick, all right, Ryan, get her up a waddling dog
pole question. Were you disappointed by the Canucks lack of
retribution towards Tom Wilson following the hit on Philipiedo. Look
at this, three hundred votes already, we just posted it.
Fifty four percent say yes, but forty five percent say no.
Don this is you know you hold this poll in
nineteen seventy five or nineteen eighty five. Hundred percent yes,

(12:22):
We are now in a different age, and I'll tell
you something else done. Adam Foot came out last night
and said he didn't want retribution, he didn't want one
of his and sadly for the Canucks, most of the
guys that would get you retribution are in your top
four D or your top six forwards, and you don't
want your top fort D and your top six four
second Myers Kaneyah Myers a Kine sitting in a and
stop with this. Savander Kaine is a goon. He was

(12:44):
brought in Vancouver to do exactly this. The guys fought
five times in five years. The guy is a skilled player.
If he has to fight, he'll have to fight. But
it's a sad, sad thing. If the only guy on
your roster you can say should go fight Tom Wilson
is Evander Kaine.

Speaker 4 (13:00):
But sometimes you go and do a fight, even if
like this goes back to twenty eleven and the old
Daniel Sedini incident with Brad Marsham. Yeah, and you'll lose,
but you stood up for you stood up for your teammate,
or you stood up for yourself. That's for a lot
of people, maybe old school people, that's where they would
stand on this issue. Adam Foot, and we've got this clip.

(13:22):
I don't think I have time to run it to well,
let's do this. Let's do this, because I think it's
pretty clear that my guess would be some of the Canucks,
maybe Evander Kine, maybe Toyler Myce wanted to go after Tomblson.
That would be my guess. But it's pretty clear that
the director from the coaching staff with no just hang on,

(13:42):
we're short on forwards here. We've got a lead in
this game, we're two and zero on this road trip.
We want to go through and oh, don't blow it
by getting an instigator penalty or get thrown out of
the game, whatever the case may be. But this is
Adam Foot postgame, taking the high road when it comes
to this issue.

Speaker 6 (14:00):
Well, I saw it once after on the bench didn't
look at it an intermission.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
I mean it looked like from from my first view
that it was.

Speaker 6 (14:07):
A clean hit. Like I'm gonna look at it again.
I mean, he's a big guy, you know, So I
like the way. I like the way our players and
you get caught in the lead like that, getting caught
in the trap of I hit like that, running after
him and trying to get him and we have to
get the two points first and then yeah, you know

(14:29):
that other stuff takes care of himself later down the
road if it needs to be taken care of.

Speaker 3 (14:33):
Which we'll view it.

Speaker 6 (14:35):
And I don't know it was a clean hit or
it was just a bad timing for heats there, But
I really liked the way, you know, they're smart, they're
trying to get us off our game and we and
we held it together. We didn't want to go for
him for with a team like that, you know, and
get in the box with being down guys.

Speaker 4 (14:53):
So you listen to that, and you can tell that
whether he said anything or not, Adam to his players,
Adam Foot didn't want that, didn't want that to happen
in terms of retribution towards Tom Wilson.

Speaker 5 (15:06):
Yeah, there you go and Canucks don't have a Tanner Janott.
They don't have a Brandon new Ham who's big and
tough enough to play in the line up every game
they tried. They called Tanner Janot's agent on July first,
and he wanted too much money. They never have enough
cap space to get a guy like Janot or Brandon
de Haam, who's always in the two three million range.

(15:26):
But these guys are everyday players. They just can't find
someone like that Dot. This would be a way bigger deal.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
As I stay at the obvious here, which I often do,
if they lost that game, if the Capitals had come
back ytime, you lost the game and you didn't go
after Tom Wilson when you probably should have. But they
held their composure and ended up winning, winning a game
that a lot of people thought that they wouldn't. The
schedule has been pretty tough on the road. I'm just

(15:52):
trying to find out when this is. I should have
had this written down. But when they play Washington again, Okay,
I don't have it. But uh, you know, you talk
about you know, January.

Speaker 5 (16:05):
Same thing about Dickinson fighting in Chicago.

Speaker 4 (16:07):
No one did anything, but but I think part of
what Adam Foot was saying there. He was talking about
what would happen later on, like how the NHL would
deal with it. And at one point did the NHL
not look into that?

Speaker 5 (16:18):
The DPUs looked into last night safety, Yeah, they looked
into it hard. I was told hard, but no suspension.

Speaker 4 (16:27):
So then you've also got, you know, the possibility of
somewhere down the line that game in January against Washington
to Rodgers Arena, maybe something happens.

Speaker 5 (16:36):
We thought Friday Dickinson, Oh my god, someone's gonna fight
Dickinson for the heatal hit last year. Nothing happened, done nothing.
Sound disappointed. I'm not disappointed. I'm just saying, we keep
talking about retribution. Nothing happened Friday in Chicago. Nothing happened yesterday,
So why is it gonna something happen unless they go
and acquire a guy.

Speaker 4 (16:52):
Well, again, it is enough. It depends on the game
situation a lot too. Now they were up big, they're
up three nothing, up up for nothing, but again down
down and forwards. They were down in numbers, So I
think that I know I played a part in it
as well. So anyway, we didn't end up talking about baseball.
We will later on DTMZ. Is it just me coming

(17:14):
up in the eleven o'clock hour, Elliott's going to join
us just after eleven o'clock. Is Elliott joining us from Boston? Okay?
Elliott Friedman is going to join us from Hockey Day
in Canada. He's in Boston covering the game between the
Panthers and Bruins tomorrow. Brad Marshawn's return to Boston. So
old stomping grounds, Big ride, the Twitter guy coming up

(17:36):
later this hour. And how about what's happening in Seattle?
The Kraken, the Mariners, the Seahawks. All with the games today?
I think the Mariners is the most important game seven
against against the Blue jay Z. And Farnaza is going
to join us from Seattle kg R Sports Radio. He's next.
Thanks so much for tuning in, folks. Hope you had
a great weekend. Donnie and Dolly the team I check Dolly.

(19:13):
down in Seattle. Ian forness KGr Sports Radio and the
Kracking Hockey Network. I thanks for doing this, sir. How
are you? I'm good?

Speaker 5 (19:22):
Guys?

Speaker 4 (19:22):
Are you very good? Seahawks host Houston Cracking in Philadelphia
game seven Mariners Jays. Shouldn't today be a holiday in Seattle?
Are you working?

Speaker 7 (19:33):
Pheel feels that way. I mean all those stuff doesn't start.
I mean our game's first ours being the cracking at
four Blue Jays Mariners Game seven at five, and the
NFL like this, these goofy Monday night double headers a schedule,
and this one actually works out for the best because
it's a late kickoff at seven o'clock. Normally that'd be
a five point fifteen kickoffs, So you know, Mariner game

(19:54):
should be two thirds done, cracking will be over when
the Seahawks kickoff, and and away we go. Yeah, busy day,
fun times, getting mold TV's out.

Speaker 4 (20:00):
Let's go, hey, who's getting the heat? Who's getting criticized?
Mariners wise? Down there in Seattle. I know they're going
to a game seven, and that's that's positive. But I'm
sure for Seattle fans, I mean, you know, three straight inning,
any double plays. Who's getting the heat down there?

Speaker 7 (20:17):
The Canadians that invaded our city last week in the heat, Yeah,
everyone's mad at them. Yeah, yes, I mean it's just
uh but you know, it is what it is. The playoffs.
You're seeing good players. I mean you're not You're not
playing bad teams that they you know, Dan Wilson takes
a lot of heat the manager anytime they lose. At
Stan's Fall, pitching change wasn't correct. It wasn't this time
they should have brought this guy in at this point

(20:38):
in time. I mean, he's not the guy grounding into
double plays. He's not the guy that's getting picked off
first base like Rebos did the other day and things
like that. It's just but it's also, guys, it's a series.
It's best of seven. I mean, we're I'll be honest
with you, we are still getting used to that. In Seattle.
We've had two best of sevens in the last quarter
century and they were both with the Crack and two
years ago or three years ago now with Colorado and Dallas,

(21:00):
and so this is a whole new deal for us.
The ups and downs, the ebbs and the flows. I mean,
you know, we're used to the NFL. It's one and done,
or you one and you move on and things like that.
So honestly, it's been fun. I've tried to enjoy it.
I think it's a fun ride. And but yeah, you know,
when things go wrong, there's always gotta be the blame game, Donnie,
and you know, Dan Wilson will take most of the heat.
But again, he's not the guy swinging the bat.

Speaker 4 (21:20):
Yeah, the first Game seven in Mariner's history it's hard
to believe they've been around since nineteen seventy seven. What's
the belief level in Mariner's starter today? George Kirby, who
had a tough time in Game three.

Speaker 7 (21:35):
Yeah, but he had two good starts before that. I
think there's a pretty strong feeling for him. And you know,
and it's the same thing with Bieber for Toronto. I mean, really,
unless you know, you Savage isn't going to go, and
you know Gilbert won't go because they both went yesterday.
It was Gilbert yesterday. Yeah, right, So that's all running together,
so it's outside that everybody else is ready, like you know,
I mean, if he struggles, and we will probably come

(21:56):
in or castill you. And I'm sure Toronto, I'm sure
John Schnyder's got planned for the similar thing that you know,
you're you're gonna use just leverage arms today, you're not
gonna use you know, you know your depth bullpen guys,
and uh, you know, if either starter struggles, I'm sure
it's gonna be the same for both teams. I'll just
yankee guy and and we'll move on to the next dude.

Speaker 5 (22:14):
In Monday nighter, Houston's in town. They need a win
to keep pace with the five and two Raiders and
the Rams. They do it tonight and that division. Look
at the top of that division, it's looking like a
who's going to come out of there?

Speaker 7 (22:27):
Forty nine ers in Rams, right, he said, Raiders right.

Speaker 4 (22:31):
Well, they used to be in the they used to
be in the always well and.

Speaker 7 (22:35):
You know what, and trust Pete's Pete's team would love
to have that conversation going on. They're struggling in Vegas
right now.

Speaker 5 (22:41):
Did they get the weekend?

Speaker 7 (22:43):
Yeah? Yeah, the forty nine ers and Rams are right there.
A good division, I mean, top to bottom. I think
it's the best division in football one, two, three, these
three teams. Arizona obviously having this issues with Kyler out
and so forth. But yeah, big game tonight, A big
test for the offense. Uh, this is a really good
defense too, great edge rush for the for the Texans,
you know, Will Anderson's a problem, big problem, and you

(23:05):
know Abe Lucas and the right tackle struggle a little
bit this year. So uh, it's a it's a massive
test for Seattle and they got to get home field
advantage back. I mean, it's just as amazing. They've won
nine straight away from home. Over the last two years,
they can't win on the road or at home, so
they need to find a way to change that. Tonight.
It'll be an interesting atmosphere, guys. To be honest with you,
I'm curious, you know, Monday night seven o'clock crowd. I mean,

(23:28):
it's the game sold out, but the get in price
is pretty low right now, it's under a hundred dollars,
so you know, I don't know if people will be,
you know, watching the Mariners. Next door, they're having a
viewing party I think at Tea Mobile and you know,
just make their way across the street as soon as
that game's over. But I'm gonna guess that we're gonna
see empty seats at the start of the game for
the first time in a long time at Loomenfield until

(23:50):
the Mariner game is over. So it's you know, we
have too much, too many, too many good things going on.
But I'll take it right, We'll take it all day.

Speaker 5 (23:57):
Hey, are you gonna take this? The too hottest teams
in the NHL, the Vancouver Canucks in the Seattle Kracking
Are you taking that? What's going on? Noel Boss has
been five games for the Kracking.

Speaker 7 (24:08):
That's right, three zero to two Rick three zero two.
They're Lane. Lambert's made a difference. They find I mean,
every game's close. It's crazy. They have played the least
amount of minutes this year uh in games separated by
more than one goal. The only time they haven't been
playing in a one goal or tied hockey game, where
like the last seven or eight minutes opening night against

(24:29):
the Anaheim Jared mccamm made at three to one. Every
other time, every other minute this year has been a
one goal or a tie hockey game. They've had all
these overtime games. It's insane what's going on. But you
know they're finding a way, and they're doing it. I
mean kind of like you guys. They're kind of doing
it with a patchwork lineup. They've got a lot of
players out. They're gonna they're gonna miss McCanns out tonight,

(24:49):
so he's not playing this evening. Berkeley Catton's gonna make
his debut for Seattle, so we'll see him for the
first time in a Cracking uniform in the regular season.
They're really down depth wise to fencemen. Mon Tours on
a leave of absence, so it's uh, it's I don't
know how they're doing it, but they're doing it, and
credit Lane Lambert his staff. So far, the power play
has been good. They've scored a power play going four

(25:10):
straight games, and heck, last year they'd go, you know,
four to eight games without one so in a row.
So they they've improved that. Chris Taylor, their assistant coach,
done a great job on the on the power play.
So tough test though tonight Philly and then Washington tomorrow
and then yeah, by the way, you get to stop
at Winnipeg on the way home thanks NHL before Edmonton
on Saturday. But so far, so good. I think if

(25:31):
you know, worst case scenario, you come home three, three
and two at five hundred with that road trip in
the start of the season schedule they've had, I think
they'd take that.

Speaker 4 (25:37):
Okay, I know you took your shot at Winnipeg there,
but you have proud kid.

Speaker 7 (25:41):
No, no, no, no, only only in the sense it's
hard like like they're the President's Trophy winner, and it's like, yeah,
you're finishing up topics, Tamy, Yeah, you're you're you're finishing
up a six game road trip, you know, back East
and all this, and instead of just coming home after Washington, Now,
why don't you stop by and take on the team
last year with the best record in the league at
just a scheduling a scheduling nightmare. But I know everyone's

(26:01):
got their complaints around the league, but that seems to
be a little bit tough penal for the for the
mighty Crack.

Speaker 4 (26:06):
It's okay, And we take shots out of the Canadian
cities all the time.

Speaker 7 (26:09):
You know, what about Toronto's what's the vibe up there?
How are you guys doing? Are we rooting for the
ms or the Jay's? What are we doing up there?

Speaker 4 (26:16):
Ryan and I both want the Mariners. Dolly Wall wants
the Blue Jays because he forgot Canada's team. He forgot
that the people will own us. He owned the Blue Jays,
laid it, laid us all off at one time. He's
forgotten that.

Speaker 7 (26:29):
Yeah, that's I mean, listen, better things have happened to
you guys, obviously with check and everything.

Speaker 4 (26:34):
So it's good.

Speaker 7 (26:34):
But at the same time, yeah, Rick, like, I don't know.
I had a long conversation on our radio show with
with the esteemed far Han Lolgy. He told me it's
not Canada's team is what I was told, so.

Speaker 5 (26:47):
So so so Where was he in ninety two ninety three,
Joe Carter probably not cheering for you?

Speaker 4 (26:53):
Where was he? Where was Ryan?

Speaker 5 (26:55):
Well Ryan wasn't born, but where was this guy Donnie?
Where was this guy?

Speaker 7 (27:00):
Donnie was probably with b Mack and he was doing
Mariner highlights on It was exactly right, like like like
he should that's what he should be doing.

Speaker 5 (27:08):
He did it well, Canada's team.

Speaker 4 (27:11):
You're brainwashed okay now, and I just wanted to say
that you're proud Canadian roots very quickly. But that win
in Toronto, you know the Canadians know this. You know
this harky night in Canada on SAT. That's a big
deal for the Crack. What's that going to do for
that team?

Speaker 7 (27:28):
I think it's well, especially because the goal came from
Josh Mahura, like came winning, like nobody had that on
his on their big oak card, your number seven defenseman.
If everyone's healthy and he goes coast to coast, thanks
for coming. I just thought it was great. Two things
happened in that game real quick. One uh Crack and
win okay in Toronto. It didn't help the Mariners last night,
but it kind of set the tone for the weekend,

(27:49):
the little rivalry this built up between these two cities
and then the Cracking players trolling uh Toronto afterwards with
before and after, you know, Lane Lambert were in the Jersey,
all the players were in the Mariners or he's coming
in like like showing some solid air, see Rick Down's
what you do. You show solid area for your region,
your chemo graphic region, that's what you do. And uh
and then watching stolars just start throwing everybody to the bus.

(28:10):
Nothing like beating the maple leafs because it always ends
up being dramatic afterwards, like oh what a stoler say.
I wish we could play like them, go to the
front of the net. If I had a dollar for
every time last year I heard lack of net front
presence for the Crack and that's the change this year,
I'd be a millionaire right now. So listen, Toronto wants
to play like the Kraken, and the Mariners want to
beat Toronto tonight and it's gonna be a great night

(28:32):
and we're gonna do everybody in Western Canada favor and
knock him out.

Speaker 5 (28:35):
Thanks for coming. Stopis for coming.

Speaker 4 (28:38):
Ian. Thanks for this, you're busy. Thanks for joining us.
Appreciate it. And by the way, thanks for getting Fehead
as a guest last week and not one of us,
but yeah, thanks a lot.

Speaker 7 (28:47):
He did the big far Han cast or whatever he
calls it on Hot Air, Hot air.

Speaker 5 (28:52):
Wasted time. He just likes hearing his voice. That's all
Hot Air.

Speaker 7 (28:58):
Thanks he Okay, your voice.

Speaker 4 (29:01):
In for an SKJR Sports Radio, the Cracking Hockey Network,
Cracking in Philadelphia Mariners and Jay's game seven Monday night

Speaker 5 (30:25):
Ryan got her up. The Waddling dog Pole question. Were
you disappointed by the Connects lack of retribution towards Tom
Wilson after the hit on Heetel And look at this
almost six hundred votes, and boy, oh boy, this is close.
You know, fifty six percent say yes, but forty four
percent say no.

Speaker 4 (30:42):
And you know, will you make the good point about
twenty years ago this.

Speaker 5 (30:46):
Yes, Broad Street bullies you they Fred Sheryl more than
twenty years Oh yeah, this is just it would have
been one hundred percent in Philadelphia this pole.

Speaker 4 (30:56):
Absolutely Uh, you wanted to talk Ryan wanted to talk
about and rightfully. So we talked a little bit about
him in our first segment. But Elias Petterson's game yesterday,
finally getting his first goal. Yeah, okay, so there was
that nice play there by Philip Peronica on the pinch
Debrasque with the backhanded at the corner Garland to Peterson

(31:19):
into the net. It goes as he uses his shot,
which he I think he's been doing a better job
of this year so far. Anyway. I know it's early,
but the moment that really impressed everybody, the shot blocking
versus Alexovichkin. But the game on the line late.

Speaker 5 (31:37):
You know, some people say, does he care? Does he
love the game of hockey? This tells me he does, don't.
This tells me sacrifice And when you sacrifice the way
elliots Patterson there the game online won. Okay two, that's
pretty impressive, and that's a guy who cares and is
putting his body on the line. Late in the game,
Goalie polled and you know they scored there said we're

(31:59):
heading over time and thanks to him, they didn't go overtime.

Speaker 4 (32:03):
And as I mentioned earlier, there was a there were
three blocks in this sequence. We didn't see the first one,
which was also on you know, the greatest goalscorer in
National Hockey League history. Really impressive by Elias Petterson. You
know what he looked like yesterday was a leader, a leader,
and we haven't seen that, I'm sorry, but for a
long long time. And that's a real good a real

(32:23):
good sign for the Caducks when he steps up like
that in a game against a very good team and
the team is extremely shorthanded because because of injuries. Impressive.

Speaker 5 (32:34):
And Donnie, I think in the Dallas game he did
the same thing. He's been blocking shots and this didn't
start yesterday. He's been doing a lot more of that.
Now we need the points to get going. Yeah, Teddy Blueger,
he still he's only got three points in six games.
You need more from a guy making that much money.
Teddy Blueger made played more five on five minutes last night,
Donnie than Ellie's Petterson. That can happen. Foot's got to
get Petterson out more five. Your number one center can't

(32:58):
have less five on five play.

Speaker 4 (33:00):
But somebody's helped playing him like you. I don't care
how much he's making.

Speaker 5 (33:05):
I I just think you need this guy Petterson's five
on five minutes to be hired. On every game he's
getting outplayed by some of their seturd.

Speaker 4 (33:13):
They win or not, I can't they dead, Don.

Speaker 5 (33:15):
There's no ifents and butts about that. They did win,
and good on him. He looks a whole lot better.
But come on your seventh and team scoring and you're
making eleven point six. Connor Garland leads this team in points.
Surewood leads the team in goals. He should be up there.

Speaker 4 (33:30):
Right And that's all about ice time.

Speaker 5 (33:31):
According to you, did you see the Canucks shooting percentage?

Speaker 8 (33:34):
Not?

Speaker 5 (33:35):
It's number one of the NHL, and you know who
they're right there with Chicago and Columbus. The PDO what
do the kids call it? The PDO is out of
the world again. They're doing number. Two years ago when
they went to Game seven, the PDO was out of
the world. They're doing it again. They're taking advantage a
week goaltending. They're getting better stop. Don Peterson's a part

(33:58):
of the PDO. I'm telling you they're shooting lights out
right now, Don, and they're getting good goaltending from Depco.

Speaker 4 (34:05):
Petterson's part of the is one goal I know.

Speaker 5 (34:08):
He's one part of the I can't figure out the guys,
I'm telling you, they're shooting the lights out right now
thirteen percent. Don it's crazy.

Speaker 4 (34:16):
As for Petterson, good on him. Impressive defensively and offensively
yesterday for the first time in a long time. Yeah,
and you look at this, he looked like a leader.

Speaker 5 (34:25):
Ryan documented the time and the date. Donnie raving about Petterson.

Speaker 4 (34:29):
I don't know what you're doing. I don't know.

Speaker 5 (34:32):
I need more offensively from him. He kept sit at
three point every six games. It was very promising.

Speaker 4 (34:39):
Good on him, though, and there was another instance on
a power play where he used his one timer and
it was very very effective. So I didn't go in,
but at least the signs are there.

Speaker 5 (34:49):
Signs are there. He cares more and I love that.

Speaker 4 (34:52):
Yeah. Okay. Meanwhile, let's get back to the Tom Wilson hit. Here.
We heard from Adam Foot earlier, but this is Adam
Foot after the game. We're talking about retribution and Adam
of Foot after the game, talking about his approach to
the first intermission after the Wilson hit that knocked heetl

(35:15):
out of the game. I don't know if you typically
go in and talk to the guys between periods, but
did you say anything to them after the first win.

Speaker 3 (35:23):
Emotions were ye, pretty.

Speaker 6 (35:24):
Of course, Yeah, of course, it's now they're going to
try to get us off our game and get get
us out of our rhythm and get themselves in it.

Speaker 3 (35:31):
And that's just normal. That's always been the way in hockey.

Speaker 6 (35:34):
And and you know, we were we talked about a
lot and just wanted to gather ourselves. I felt like
the first period w our speed kind of surprised them.

Speaker 4 (35:42):
Guys were humming.

Speaker 6 (35:43):
I thought Patterson got that first goal. It was over
a great four checking a reload by our guys. Our
d was aggressive, which we want to see more this year,
and we're seeing it on the on the pinch and
and I think you saw pet getting that goal.

Speaker 3 (35:56):
Is he played great.

Speaker 6 (35:57):
Like defensively he was you know, had more pay set
his game going at guys, had more confidence on the
defensive side.

Speaker 3 (36:04):
And saw him with two big blocks too.

Speaker 6 (36:05):
So I really liked his game, especially in a not
a friendly environment.

Speaker 3 (36:09):
It was could have got really physical and he didn't.
He didn't seem to mind.

Speaker 4 (36:15):
So compliments for Elias Petterson. But a couple of things
there him talking to his team after. The coaches don't
always talk after each period, but he did talk and
the priority was clearly to get the two points. And
if you know, somebody fights Tom Wilson, I mean, there's

(36:36):
there's a million ways to go with this, and maybe
there's no right answer, but somebody fights Tom Wilson. Wilson
cleans his clock, the crowds into it, and maybe the
result is different. So so there's that, and you've still
got that January game. We'll see what happens there with
Tom Wilson. But he mentioned something there that I tweeted
out yesterday in regards to Jake Debrusk, he seems faster

(36:59):
this year or he's using his speed more. Maybe that
has to do with the coaching change. I'm not sure,
but Adam Foot talked about that in training camp in
preseason that he wants his team to play faster. Uh,
they seem faster this year, and you know, I mean,
and part of that is is Philip Heatl, who was
acquired late last season. But debrus seems faster. Sassanisan is Maxisan.

Speaker 5 (37:21):
Don't ever send that guy back.

Speaker 4 (37:23):
And he's got some speed there. They seem faster. That's
kind of come out of nowhere. Nobody really thought that
they would be fast, but at least initially. And look
they're off to a four and two start three to
zero on this road trip. Nobody saw that. And part
is that. Part of that is what Adam talked about there,
and that is they I think they're surprising teams and
people who watch them on a regular basis that they

(37:45):
they they've got some speed there.

Speaker 5 (37:46):
Yeah, they got it.

Speaker 4 (37:47):
No that I didn't see.

Speaker 5 (37:48):
And don't send Sassan back, Donny keep that speed in
the lineup, don't. I don't want to see that guy
in Abersbourn ever.

Speaker 4 (37:54):
Again. I agree. See that's something I've been saying for
like a year or two now. And you guys laugh
at me. Now here you are.

Speaker 5 (38:04):
You have about Maxishan. Yeah, you've been on the Sisan
bendwagon for quite some time.

Speaker 4 (38:09):
Yeah, yeah, absolutely.

Speaker 5 (38:11):
It's been great. He's really been great since you got
called up.

Speaker 4 (38:14):
So let's recap here Heetel and Lecumack he both placed
on IR. We got that board again, Ryan uh Mancini
has been sent down to Abbittsford. You were very upset
about that. Joseph le Bit and Jimmy Schult have been
recalled from Abbotsford. Paper moves Lebit. They're gonna use him really.

Speaker 5 (38:33):
Not the bait Yoh yes, la bait that the paper
transaction is Jimmy Schultz.

Speaker 4 (38:38):
Is it Schultz Schultz, Schultz Schultz. It's a tough one, yeah.

Speaker 5 (38:42):
Because you think thirty men thirty years old, San Jose,
you think Vegas your Schultz on Hogan's Heroes. But anyway,
I know you're gonna say that, or Dave Schultz, uh h,
Dave Schultz Philadelphia Flyers, but Hogan's Heroes, great show. Anyways,
Jimmy Schult, Donnie is a paper transaction. The bait's gonna
play man seeing very tough, tough call here, folks. He's

(39:04):
not going down because of his play cap related. He's
got to go to Abersburg. He's got a play in there.
By the way, they got their home opener Downny Friday.
They're going to raise the banner regular season, the home
opener and then heatl and the Karamaki on injured reserve Hoglander.
There's no concern there. He's not going backwards.

Speaker 4 (39:20):
There's no cert he had ankle shirts done done.

Speaker 5 (39:24):
He's on lt R. I checked no setback. He's on
pace to come back when he's supposed to be.

Speaker 4 (39:29):
And Blueger is not on this piece of information, which
is I would think of positive sign. Again, we're recapping
what we talked about it.

Speaker 5 (39:36):
Yeah, that's the great news is Blueger is not in here,
So that means there's an outside chance Blueger plays tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (39:43):
Well, you look at this a road trip, and certainly
Washington you thought would have been a gap, you would
be and it was tough, but they ended up with
the victory. But you looked at the end of it
and you thought, oh, maybe they'll get wins in Pittsburgh
and Nashville. I don't want to jinx them, but are
Quarantine looking very good? Yeah? They are.

Speaker 1 (40:01):
So you guys are updating this, but we have an
update to this. I got a tweet here from Ian
McIntyre moments ago, who has caught up with the Vancouver
Canucks general manager Patrick Alvin. Teddy, Blueger doubtful to play
Tuesday in Pittsburgh, Okay, but the return from leave of
Brockbsser is a possibily. We've talked about that. Brockbster was
out of personal reasons, so he didn't play in Washington yesterday.

(40:26):
Philipiedo and Jonathan Mcaramack. You have both flown back to
Vancouver today with medical staff for further examination. So those
two are ruled out at least for the remainder of
this road trip. So again, I mean, so that's three, well,
two guys out for sure, Blueger's doubtful. You throw Besser
back in, you put.

Speaker 4 (40:43):
Le Bait in.

Speaker 1 (40:44):
Aren't they still missing something?

Speaker 8 (40:46):
Well?

Speaker 5 (40:46):
Doing the math right? Nile Zamon, I know was in
play last night. Maybe he gets called up, I don't know.
But their center iceed position. I mean, and don't even
get going on me about Manny Mahult on what he's
dealing with his roster in Abbasburg Center East goes hockey
to roster that don half of his team is in
Vancouver right now.

Speaker 1 (41:06):
That's not good.

Speaker 4 (41:06):
Have to accept that.

Speaker 5 (41:08):
I'm just telling you nicely, that's an equation.

Speaker 4 (41:12):
Just don't worry about you know, Stan Abbotsford because we
want to we want you to be there for the banners.

Speaker 1 (41:20):
But the depth of the organization has that been I mean, look, well,
out of out of the first game of the year,
you had Lacarra, Mackie up here, Bans up here, Carlson
up here. I thought assassin against the recall.

Speaker 4 (41:32):
They've been fine, No, they've been fine.

Speaker 1 (41:33):
But I'm just saying the depth of your mind, like
those guys are Opening night guys. It's not like but yeah,
now they're dealing with injuries.

Speaker 4 (41:39):
Well, my takeaway from this conversation is that you talk about,
you know, their centers being heard in their center. We
started the season like and I started they need another center.
Now they're losing them.

Speaker 5 (41:52):
And here's another thing. Don you want to make a trade,
you want to go get a second light center. Every
team in the league knows you're desperate. They got no
power right now on their side. You can make a
trade for a centerment. Every single team in this league
knows that the Vancouver Canucks are desperate for centers.

Speaker 4 (42:07):
And yet they win yesterday three and oer road trip.
It's been pretty impressive. Okay, I got some business and
then we'll throw the brake. Get ready for big rye.
October twenty eighth. Able Auctions will sell the contents of
a bankrupt construction company. This is a new read. Is
it cool?

Speaker 1 (42:23):

hit those guys.

Speaker 5 (43:25):
What a great tech.

Speaker 4 (43:26):
I don't know if that's part of Phillip's personality to
do that.

Speaker 5 (43:30):
Mark Messier was not only a talent. I know people
hate him, but we're going back to the Oiders Win
of the Cups. He was great, talented, mean top oh,
he was just a complete hot.

Speaker 4 (43:41):
Glenn Anderson from Burnaby also played with an edge, but
not everybody's capable of They don't know if not everybody
has it in.

Speaker 5 (43:48):
Them not the night Gino was chasing them.

Speaker 4 (43:50):
No, it's probably a good idea by Glenn big Rye.

Speaker 1 (43:56):
I just really wonder when we're gonna have to have
a long term health come station with Filipiedo. For sure,
it might be in the next week or so, Like,
what doctor is going to continue to clude this guy?
What's he Remember we had Vince maccagliano out of New
York on our show after he was traded here after
the Midder trade. What did he say?

Speaker 4 (44:14):
Four or five or.

Speaker 1 (44:15):
Five documents and concussions in New York, but I will
say two in Vancouver an under a year.

Speaker 5 (44:20):
It's a very good sign that he can fly this early.
After that most guys back to Vancouver. But you're right, life,
a lot of guys are not allowed to take flights
after concussions. So this is a good sign. And if
you if you're looking for a glimmer of hope, the
fact he's flying back is a good sign to a
guy who just perceived to got a concussion.

Speaker 4 (44:41):
Yeah, I just you know, this is selfish. But the
hockey fan. I love watching that guy play. And you
know how I thought about his debut, I compared to the
Pablo Buri's debut. He's great, he drives play, but he's
got to be more aware of what's And I'm not
blaming it and blaming him for a second regarding what
happened yesterday, but he's got to be more aware of

(45:01):
what's going on around him. Well he knows that.

Speaker 1 (45:03):
To talked about that interview with iMac in the summer
he reviewed film. Now, I will say that is true.
On yesterday's play, the Dickinson play, that was not true.
You got hit from behind.

Speaker 4 (45:13):
But even he even he took some of the blame
for that, looked over his wrong shoulder. That's the kind
of person you know. You know, maybe it's it's at
a point where you see somebody coming act you up
comes the stick.

Speaker 1 (45:25):
We also don't know it's a concussion.

Speaker 5 (45:27):
Just feel for him.

Speaker 4 (45:28):
Yeah, we don't know.

Speaker 5 (45:30):
It could be Like I said this morning, it could
be a whiplash. They're all they're going through it all.

Speaker 4 (45:36):
Not a relationship between whiplash and exassions.

Speaker 5 (45:38):
I think there was a concern about this about whiplash Ernie.
But you know what, let them take their time in
about everybody wants a phill heatal update, Oh my god,
what is it?

Speaker 4 (45:48):
Of course they might why would you?

Speaker 5 (45:50):
But with concussions you might need twenty four to forty
eight hours before you you know what the heck it is.

Speaker 1 (45:55):
Yeah, Unfortunately it could be a waiting game. We've got
a we've got a backlog of photo too. Oh, we're
gonna get into one right here. This is from John h.
He said this this from uh.

Speaker 5 (46:08):
Laval Laval, that's where Abersburg played that weekend.

Speaker 1 (46:12):
So he took this photo, saying that he was celebrating
the twenty twenty five Could Cup champions against Laval over
the weekend. He also says, Donnie, he was a Hastings
Bluebird from sixty seven through seventy two cross player and
a teammate of Paul del Monte for a couple. There
you go, So that is good guy. That's from John.
I don't know if he's fire lives in the vale,
I don't know, but it's from John. So we appreciate

(46:33):
that photo. John, that's a great photo. And those Abbey
uniforms are so nice.

Speaker 4 (46:37):
Look at you, even from that distance.

Speaker 5 (46:39):
From the distance, you can tell how beautiful that color is.

Speaker 4 (46:41):
And Hastings Bluebird almost as good as Norburn minor lacrosse.
He said.

Speaker 5 (46:45):
We probably did battle a battle in the Confederation Park
or Hastings Box a time or two.

Speaker 4 (46:50):
Yeah, across from the forum. Yea. I could go on
and on about that, I know, and you will now
the solen Gill sports Box Confederation Oh oh nice?

Speaker 5 (47:00):
Any other photos.

Speaker 1 (47:01):
We're running out of time, so I want to get
something else in. We will get to all the photos,
I promise, but I'm running out of time. We ought
to mention the white Caps. Okay, so the white Caps.
They they lose on the weekend of Dallas, but they
were down to man really early, so you have to
throw it out the window. However, they have advanced. They're
the second seed in the MLS playoffs. The MLS Playoffs
are going to get underway on Sunday. This is the schedule.

(47:22):
This courtesy Hord of the Daily Hive. So Sunday Game one,
four forty two pm officially is the kickoff time at
BC Place. This coming Sunday, the following Saturday, November the first,
the day after Halloween in Dallas, and if needed game
number three against back here at BC Place Friday, November
the seventh, The interesting.

Speaker 4 (47:41):
Gu here against the Dallas team. They lost to Yes,
but again they were down early. So like they are
the heavy favorites against Dallas. But we'll see what happens.
The interesting part here game number two. You notice this
part of hers tweet. Game number two will be on TSN.
Game one and three, the BC plays game will be
on Apple TV.

Speaker 1 (48:01):
Now there's an update to the Apple TV thing, and
I've got a second tweet on this because Apple made
an interesting announcement yesterday. Well they actually haven't formally announced yet,
but this is from Alex Silverman of Sports Business Journal.
MLS is making playoff matches available to all Apple TV subscribers.
So what this means free during the It's not free

(48:22):
during the regular season. You needed an Apple TV subscriptions
and you have to pay an MLS subscriptions on top
of that. Now for the playoffs, you only need that
first part. You only need a How do you get
the first part? You got to just subscribe to Apple
Apple for fifteen a month or whatever, so you got
to pay for the next two to three months.

Speaker 4 (48:42):
Yeah, and I'm not gonna do it. So now, I
mean you've got Apple. So you've got Apple, You've paid
for it, and then you have to pay for the
game on top of that. I hate that. Yeah, so
that's not going to be that. That's not the case
for the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (48:55):
So yeah, if you pay for I'm not paying to
watch the white Caps on TV. I'm not gonna do it.
I'm I'm not gonna do it. I'm not gonna do it.

Speaker 1 (49:01):
So what about our job.

Speaker 5 (49:02):
We're gonna watch the highlights? Canucks are on cable. Lines
are on cable. I watched the Lines game Friday. It
was a lovely thing.

Speaker 4 (49:11):
Or Saturday.

Speaker 5 (49:12):
Anyways, I watched the Lines. Why is the white Caps
always got to make things difficult to talk to MLS? Yeah,
but you know what, I'm not doing it. I'm not
gonna pay fifteen bucks.

Speaker 1 (49:21):
This is another example of MLS knowing they screwed up.
And I don't know if you guys say the weekend,
F one and Apple announced a massive new partnership and
F one race in the United States are gonna be
on Apple. But they're only going to be with Apple.
You're not going to pay on top of Apple to
get the subscription one. That's what it should be.

Speaker 4 (49:40):
It should be though MLS and I know if it
and absolutely love what they're doing. And it's great that
soccer pro soccer has been resurrected by MLS in North America.
I love that. But that deal tells me that they
thought they were at a level with the NFL, NBA, NHL. Yes,
and they're not quite there yet.

Speaker 1 (50:00):
Look at Apple if you watch their coverage. Apple's coverage
is really well done, great studio show, the camera work
that you get during games, the quality, the streaming quality outstanding.
But you're right done. It doesn't matter. It's it's a
level too high. And I hate to say this because
the majority of fans I'm sorry, are not going to
go out of their way to watch a regular season
game between Columbus and.

Speaker 4 (50:20):
LA or people who should be watching it watch We're
not going to watch it.

Speaker 5 (50:25):
Hey, the BC lines have great numbers locally on their TV.
I know this for a fact, Like it's good. The
white Caps numbers locally are horrible, and I know that
for a fact.

Speaker 1 (50:33):
Part of that's the inconsistency exactly. They're on TSN this week.
Oh there are apples and then what's the other one?
One socer and one socer.

Speaker 4 (50:41):
The worst part of this deal is when the games,
well there's a lot me having to pay. That's some
cheap so I don't like that. But also when the
games are on TSN. I'm not even aware of it
because a lot of people don't aware that that's on
Apple and you know, you forget that. I don't even
realize the games on TSA.

Speaker 1 (50:58):
You see it exactly this playoffs exactly like this is playoffs.

Speaker 5 (51:02):
You should be able to sit in your living room
and watch the white Caps. You can. I'm not gonna
do it, but anyways, this is ridiculous.

Speaker 4 (51:09):
They've taken away a step. I'll give them that.

Speaker 5 (51:11):
I will give them that as well, not enough step.
Not the stuff they need is free.

Speaker 1 (51:16):
By the way, the white Caps and now has twenty
thousand fans. They're heading towards the lower bowls, so set
out for that first game. We'll see what happens about
the Upper Bowl.

Speaker 4 (51:24):
Lions with that big win on Friday Friday against Evanston
at a tough start, but they are very sharp at
the end. They plan Sasketchwan this weekend on Saturday. They
win and they're hosting a playoff game. Nathan Rourke's gonna
be in our show tomorrow bing go.

Speaker 1 (51:42):
Up next though, our good pal Elliott Friedman, he is
in Boston ahead of Bruins Panthers and Marshawn's homecoming tomorrow
night in Boston. The Brad Marsh spoke to the media
moments ago when Elliott was there for that, so we'll
talk to Elliott about that much more. It's sunning the
team on Check.

Speaker 4 (52:00):
Hey everyone, it's Donnia Dolly and we're looking to partner

(52:55):
two Thoughts podcast. Elliott, thanks for doing this, sir. How
are you.

Speaker 8 (53:00):
Vancouver's favorite city? Boston? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (53:04):
No kidding.

Speaker 4 (53:04):
People here still feel the sting and a lot of
that has to do with Brad Marshawn, what he was
up to in twenty eleven, which by the way, was
his rookie year. So he's back in Boston with the
Florida Panthers. You're there to cover it. I believe he
spoke moments ago. What was the focus of that.

Speaker 8 (53:25):
I think just the idea of coming back and playing Harry.
You know the one the game, guys, and you will
remember it, And the one I always remember was Matt
Sunday when he came back to Toronto because he wasn't
sure what the reaction was him going to be. And
you guys will remember when the ovation was so loud
that you know they he lost it and he was

(53:46):
the superstoic Swede and he couldn't control his emotions and
they didn't want to drop the pocket. He could barely
take the face off. And then he scored that great
shootout goal at the end of the night to win
the game. Like, I look at a lot of reunions
and I compare them to that. And I said to him, Marshan, today,
you know you're a pretty emotional guy. Could you see

(54:07):
that happening? And he actually said yes, I could. He said.
The good thing is I'm not a centerman, so I
don't have to worry about taking face offs. But this
is going to be an emotional night here. You know,
when he was traded last year, Florida came back in
four days later, but he was hurt, didn't play, and
he said today he was actually happy he didn't have

(54:28):
to play that game. It's going to be really something
here tomorrow night. They love this guy. He talked about
his favorite coffee shop that if he had a bad game,
they'd put on his coffee, his order half one last night,
and how much he loved being a part of that.
So it's going to be really emotional here tomorrow. Not
that I'm sure Vancouver fans are really going to be

(54:51):
big into that.

Speaker 4 (54:52):
Well, I just want to know if he plans on
destroying anybody's equipment tomorrow.

Speaker 8 (54:57):
You know what, he had a good line about that.
I got to check the ex exactly what he said,
but he was asked about that. He said the alternative
was to throw it into the crowd, and he thinks
he probably would have gotten a lot more than a fine,
he said. He said he actually thought he did a
pretty good job of controlling his temper there because it
could have been a lot.

Speaker 4 (55:16):
Worse, Hey Elliott. Another fan favorite in Vancouver is Tom Wilson.
As of as of yesterday, do you understand why there
was no penalty on that hit on Philip Heedel?

Speaker 8 (55:26):
Yes, I do, you know. I'll say this, first of all,
I think the primary concern is Hetel. He's had too
many injuries. I don't like to see it, and I'm
disappointed for Hetel and and I hope he's going to
be all right because he didn't need this, you know,

(55:46):
I think in that situation you're talking like, I hate
watching those in slow motion. I hate when people do
it in slow motion. It's not a true picture of
what that is. Look he and people say Blindside Lindside
is no longer part of the rule. Blindside was taken
out of the rule a few years ago, and basically

(56:09):
what it comes down to now is was their avoidable
head contact and as we're seeing here, he doesn't hit
him in the head. He keeps his elbow down low. Yes,
you can argue, might it have been a touch late,
but I think that's in the eye of the beholder.
I had a lot of people who said to me
that that was not late, and so I'm not surprised

(56:32):
because if you're giving him a major there, then you're
basically asking for a suspension. And I just don't know that.
I thought that that play was suspendable, and I also
didn't think that was a hit that should have got
him thrown out of the game. So again, I know
that answer isn't going to make me very popular out there,
and I don't like that he was injured, But that was,

(56:54):
if anything, it was a tiny bit late, if anything,
but it wasn't dirty. I've seen a lot of hits.
Was it predatory? Yeah, I think so. That's what Tom
Wilson does, and he will hit you if you're not
paying attention, and he'll just did not see him coming.

Speaker 5 (57:13):
Hey, Elliott, the Canucks center ice position, oh my goodness,
and Blueger's Blueger's questionable for tomorrow. If they had to
go out in the trade market today, they wouldn't do it.
They would know that every team in the NHL knows
they're desperate for centers. What about the trade market for
centers and what could they possibly get?

Speaker 8 (57:32):
You know why, rick I think it's going to be
really tough. I have an old saying, when you know
when you're in trouble that these guys they don't when
you're drowning, they don't throw you a life preserver, they
throw you an handvill. So you know, right now Vancouver
is in a really rough spot. There's no question about it.
You're basically going to have to ask everybody internally to

(57:52):
get five percent better, and everybody's going to have to
become that much more committed. You know. I made a
lot of my calls on the preparing for last Saturday's show, Ricky,
and a lot of the players out there right now
are extra defenseman like Eric Gustison or like the extra
guys in San Jose. The forwards that are available are
guys like Jonathan Bergran from Detroit. I don't know that

(58:15):
there's a lot of centers available right now, and you know,
even if there are, there might be some depth centers,
but I don't I don't know that they're better than
anything that Vancouver already has, right, and they're certainly not
number two's. They're very very hard to find. I mean,
I know what you're saying. People can say, oh, you're desperate.
Now maybe you'll pay more, but maybe and maybe that's true,

(58:39):
but it's not like the list of players who are
available has changed a lot since the injury. Vancouver knows
who's out there.

Speaker 4 (58:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (58:46):
Absolutely, They've been trying for.

Speaker 8 (58:48):
Weeks and weeks all summer.

Speaker 5 (58:49):
Yell So, yeah, started with ROSSI and then then again
went on and on and on. Okay, what we will
We're five six games into the season, Elliott, who's surprising?
You know what team is doing well? Where you're saying, hmm,
I didn't think those guys would do well.

Speaker 8 (59:06):
I would say Detroit, it's barn and I thought they
were they actually that first game. You know what I'd
say too, like, you guys have been a little bit better,
and I thought you might be four and two, the
kind of wild games, down to nothing win, down to
nothing win. Now let's try something different. Let's go up
four nothing and hold on for dear life. I think

(59:27):
if I think if the Canucks would have been foreign
two and Peterson, who had a really big finish yesterday
with the block shots. If you would have thought looked
at Petterson's offense in the first six games and saw
that that's where you guys were, I think people would
have been a little bit surprised, you know, I would
say that. I would say I've been disappointed a bit

(59:49):
in Calgary. Edmonton doesn't really surprise me one way or
the other. I'd say this Chicago, well don't know if
they defend well enough to be a playoff team, but
Spencer Night has made Chicago better, So I'd say I'm
a little bit surprised at them too.

Speaker 4 (01:00:10):
Hey Elliott, on the weekend, Hockey Day and Canada aired
your interview with Jonathan Taves. What's your early take on
the impact he's having, who's comeback is having in Winnipeg.
He's got three assists in five games, taking important face offs.

Speaker 8 (01:00:27):
Well, he's better than I thought he would be. Like,
you know, so we we did. We did a live
podcast in Prince Edwarode Island a couple of weeks ago
and someone asked me how I thought Taves would be
and don myn My honest answer was, I'm going to
set the bar Low, because I'm expecting him not to
be ready. You know, when you when you missed nine
hundred and ten days, you don't expect someone to make

(01:00:48):
an immediate impact. He's been really good, Like when I
when I saw him the like when when we last
saw him, when he took time off from UH from Chicago,
he just unfortunate because of everything he was battling done,
he'd fallen really out of shade. And so when I
saw him here, like his legs are thick, they are massive,

(01:01:08):
He looks fantastic. He's been better than I thought, aside
from not scoring obviously, mentally he's much clearer in between
the ears. If you heard the conversation, you know he's
come a long way. I'd say this too, dog is
that the people of Manitoba are really proud that he
chose to play for them. Like when I when I

(01:01:31):
got into Winnipeg, you know, people are asking, what are
you doing here? What are you doing here? And I said,
I'm here to tape something with taves and they into
Everybody said, you know what, like, we're really proud he's
playing for us. We're really proud that the hometown guy
came back. Like so many. You know, people normally ask
me like what are you doing here, Like they want
me to get on the next flight and leave. But

(01:01:53):
they were really excited that that Taves was playing for
the Jets.

Speaker 4 (01:01:57):
Yeah, those shots of him in the old days when
he was younger. We're in the the old Jets uniforms
were priceless. It was a great piece.

Speaker 8 (01:02:06):
Thanks very much. And you know what, it just goes
to show you, like Don, like we all would have
thought that Daves would have had everything together from the
moment he came in the NHL. It just shows like
you never know what's going on in a person's mind.

Speaker 4 (01:02:18):
Yeah, all right, yeah, Elliott, you're in Boston, so you
can't go to Game seven? Mary, guys and jas I went.

Speaker 8 (01:02:25):
I went last night, Well last night I was. I
was at game sex. But so like, who are you
guys cheering for? You guys Mariners are Jays?

Speaker 5 (01:02:33):
Like we're out of time here, Jays Mariners.

Speaker 8 (01:02:38):
Unbelievable, Don, Don, you're a disgrace.

Speaker 4 (01:02:41):
Yeah, I am Canadas. My wife tells you that all
the time.

Speaker 5 (01:02:45):
Canada's day.

Speaker 8 (01:02:46):
I bet I bet you, I bet you you're a
fifty first stater or too.

Speaker 4 (01:02:49):
No, no, no, not get into that, but I've seen
way more Mariners games that I've seen Jay's games. Look
where we are. Look on the map. No, I don't know,
Joe Carter.

Speaker 8 (01:03:00):
There's no border in between the countries.

Speaker 4 (01:03:04):
We'll talk about it next week. We'll see what happens now.
Thanks Elliott. I appreciate Elliott Friedman in Boston speaking of
being south of the border. Look where he is right now, Boston.
Work supporting that American economy like you and Ryan do.
Game seven tonight, Margers, Blue Jays. It's gonna be fun,

(01:03:24):
so special. Okay, a break. We'll recap the pull question next.
Donnie tell you the team.

doc pole question. Ryan got her up at the Wattling
dog Paul question. Here we go finish. I thought, you boy,

(01:04:22):
you're man, You're ready to go. You just put it
up on the screen, though, Donnie experience one of the
Croy's iconic destinations, sleep sip stock up all on one
legendary spot, Come sit and stay at the doc today wreck.

Speaker 5 (01:04:34):
Ryan got her up the Watling dog Pole question, and
it is were you disappointed by the Canucks lack of
retribution towards Tom Wilson following his hit on the filipiedo Yes,
fifty three percent, but say no. Nine and sixty nine
votes is starting to hop and pop on a Monday morning.

(01:04:55):
They don't have that guy in the lineup, Donnie. They
don't have the guy that can go up to Tom Wilson.
There is nobody on the Canucks roster that Tom Wilson
is scared of. Nobody zero.

Speaker 4 (01:05:05):
I don't know how many people in their league he'd
be scared of Arburn Jackie, maybe a couple guys. But
sometimes you do that, you lose, and you still got
a whole lot of respect. Interesting Washington comes here in January. Yeah,
I'm sure nothing will happen. Don Okay, Well Tom Wilson
will get booed, etc. Maybe people expect something to happen,

(01:05:27):
and then a month later Tom Wilson might be on
Team Canada at the Olympics and everybody in Vancouver will
be cheering for him.

Speaker 5 (01:05:34):
It's like Brad Marshaut. You hate him, but you take
him on your team in a heartbeat. Canucks have never
had a Tom Wilson type guy. Can you think of
what recently Tier Williams talk about? Last ten years they've
been trying to find a Tom Wilson type guy. Don't
find it. Well, the doors, a different position, different position.

Speaker 4 (01:05:52):
But somebody who contributed to the team and was able
to take on other people from a toughest point.

Speaker 5 (01:05:59):
I think great point from you. If Zidorof was in
the Vancouver.

Speaker 4 (01:06:01):
Line, put that in your pipe and you didn't think
I had that in my back pocket.

Speaker 5 (01:06:05):
Dog Tiger Williams was nineteen eighties. Come on, Donny, I
said they never have had a guy just ten years
Gino Ojak, course, tough guys galore we had, but it
would be some box Greg Cox.

Speaker 4 (01:06:18):
But somebody who contributes it and Tiger Williams had a
thirty five.

Speaker 5 (01:06:21):
Guys, she scored thirty five and nineteen eighty one.

Speaker 4 (01:06:24):
There you go, so they have we love Tiger. We did.

Speaker 5 (01:06:26):
We are big Tiger Williams fans.

Speaker 4 (01:06:28):
Okay, meanwhile, we've got some news from our friend Ian
McIntyre who is tweeted tweets Ryan, who has tweeted this out. Rick,
if you want to do the honors, sure, Ryan, get.

Speaker 5 (01:06:38):
Her up here we go.

Speaker 1 (01:06:39):
Okay, hold on, let's let's do.

Speaker 4 (01:06:41):
This during the commercial break. I never need to run
this stuff.

Speaker 5 (01:06:45):
No, no, I know.

Speaker 1 (01:06:45):
I just want to explain, because we did run this
one before, we should run it again. Okay, we showed
this one during Big Rye. But Patrick Alvian telling Ian
McIntire Teddy Bluegre doubtful to play Tuesday, and Pittsburgh returned
from leave of absence for brock Besser as a possibility
injured Philipiedo and Jonathan Caermack. He flew back to vank
Finger today with medical staff for further examination. iMac followed

(01:07:08):
this tweet up with another tweet right here, which is
that the NHL denied the Vancouver Canucks request for a
paper transaction for Victor Mancini, So he's going to have
to play at least one HL game before he can
be recalled, rich Rich said, which which Rick said, that's
Friday night at Abmasford, So there's one ways to go.

(01:07:28):
Uh Ian also saying something Rick said, and that is
that there's a possibility we're going to see Tom will
Lander before the end of the road trip. Players. Oh,
this is the other note. By the way, players recalled
Monday need to be on an NHL roster for only
one day. So the Canucks recalled Joel Lebate today and
Uh Schultz, there's a chance there's a chance they go

(01:07:52):
back to Abbotsford tomorrow.

Speaker 5 (01:07:54):
Jimmy Schultz, Shult Schultz, Schultz, Schultz was an a shut
Schult Schult was a paper transaction. He will be back.
I do not think Joseph Wilebate, Uh, We'll have to
wait and see. But Tom Hollander was somebody. Tom Hollander
was in serious discussion last night to be called up
and they backed off I think because of Blueger's health.

Speaker 4 (01:08:17):
But that's surprising and that they needed.

Speaker 5 (01:08:19):
It forward or two is it Mancini cap Gymnastics to
make the cap work. You gotta do it for CAP reasons.

Speaker 4 (01:08:25):
Over so, but where does Vielander fit coming up?

Speaker 5 (01:08:28):
Oh, it could be just a CAP move ahead with
the other thing.

Speaker 1 (01:08:32):
The other thing we ever talked about, by the way,
is Pierre Olivier Joseph and whether or not he's healthy.

Speaker 4 (01:08:37):
Again we're talking about a defense.

Speaker 5 (01:08:38):
Yeah no, but I'm saying in the spot it's all
of it's math. I hate it, man, it's cap gymnastics.
You did.

Speaker 4 (01:08:45):
This is not the show to tow We.

Speaker 5 (01:08:47):
Barely got past grade twelve, but we'll be.

Speaker 4 (01:08:49):
I'm glad you're here to try and got past grade eleven.

Speaker 5 (01:08:54):
A get in past grade twelve was a beautiful day
for me because it was touch and go. But anyways,
said that this is all cop stopped. Don he just
don't even try to figure it out.

Speaker 4 (01:09:04):
Yeah, bottom line, they're not going to be icing the
roster they want to tomorrow or or in Nashville a Thursday.
But look what they did yesterday in Washington.

Speaker 5 (01:09:14):
If Besterer is healthy and Blueger is healthy, then changes everything.

Speaker 4 (01:09:17):
Okay, we got time talking about Blue Jays. Yeah, oh yeah,
six to two Jays over Seattle game seventh tonight in Toronto,
the town will be buzzing. Shane Bieber versus George Kirby.
Kirby had a tough time in Game three, And how
about yesterday Game.

Speaker 5 (01:09:35):
Six, that that's.

Speaker 4 (01:09:39):
The Mariners hit into three inning ending double play. Hasn't
been done before. Uh. And then third inning, one out, well,
basses loaded, cal Rally is up and he hits it
to a double play and he's received some crews.

Speaker 5 (01:09:54):
That one hurt because the bases were loaded obviously okay.

Speaker 4 (01:09:56):
And then the next inning, fourth inning, same thing, bases
were loaded off to a double if inn any double play.
We don't think we have time for the John Schneider clip,
but needless to say, extremely excited for for Game seven.
That's what you play for. He made the point, John Schneinder, Hey,
if somebody told you spring training this is where you'd be,

(01:10:17):
you take what they like to have swept the Mariner sure,
but if somebody told you this is where you'd be
one went away from the World Series, you'd definitely take it.
By the way, I have trouble with the name George Kirby,
Kirby Kirby Puckett, No, because I grew up watching Johnny
Carrison and MERV Griffin and Michael and George Kirby was

(01:10:37):
a comedian back in the day who would come on
those shows all the time. He's a really successful comedian.
He's left us.

Speaker 1 (01:10:45):
When I hear George Kirby, I think of Kirby the
Nintendo character. That's what I think.

Speaker 4 (01:10:52):
I have no idea about Super What are you talking about?
This is the whole name, George Kirby. We've got a
few older audience members, they'll know who I'm talking about.

Speaker 5 (01:11:02):
All Rybe Puckett, one of the greatest twins of all time.

Speaker 4 (01:11:05):
But again, that's just one of the things I know.

Speaker 1 (01:11:07):
I just can't believe this franchise, the Marinis franchise has
been around for and it's the Game seven tonight.

Speaker 4 (01:11:15):
They've only haven't lived, Ryan, They've only been in the
playoffs six.

Speaker 1 (01:11:18):
I know, but still like you haven't lived as an
organized the Jays because they went.

Speaker 4 (01:11:24):
Two decades without a playoffs over two decades, but but
they've only been in one before. That was in eighty
five against Kansas City. They blew a three to one
series lead and they lost lost games. That's it. This
is only their second Game seven, and I know the
playoffs are different change more teams get in. Now. That's
a little surprising though that between the two teams who

(01:11:46):
both came in in nineteen seventy seven, only one game
seven before this.

Speaker 5 (01:11:51):
And I don't like this talk. I saw this on Twitter.
Dodgers it doesn't matter who wins tonight, Dodgers gonna eat
them alive.

Speaker 1 (01:11:57):
I think they are rick I do.

Speaker 5 (01:11:58):
I do understand that their e r A for their
starting pitchers for the Dodgers is under two.

Speaker 8 (01:12:04):
There.

Speaker 5 (01:12:04):
They've been phenomenal the starting pitch, so.

Speaker 4 (01:12:06):
I get that.

Speaker 5 (01:12:07):
But for to write and off the Jays and the
Mariners before they've even been played a game is just
amazing to me. You just said it, right, Yeah, okay,
we show Tawny the other night.

Speaker 4 (01:12:16):
You say he phil by himself ten six.

Speaker 5 (01:12:19):
Ins, yeah, six innings, and then he hits three homers
Like it's ridiculous, cheap cops saying it's early?

Speaker 4 (01:12:26):
Why not?

Speaker 5 (01:12:26):
What do you mean?

Speaker 4 (01:12:27):
I don't know?

Speaker 5 (01:12:28):
Okay, reality like, hey, Blue Jays, Mariners, don't play tonight
because you're gonna get killed by the Dodgers.

Speaker 4 (01:12:34):
Come on, you know some business?

Speaker 5 (01:12:37):
Oh yeah, absolutely, look at this. Check out the largest

More dates are have been added to the fifty something tour.
Is that right? Yeah? I don't have the details right here.

Speaker 1 (01:15:50):
This just just well you talked about this last week.
They did the initial run of LA and New York.
Very small okay.

Speaker 4 (01:15:58):
Russia is putting more Canadian dates on the calendar for
the band's reunion. Geddy Lee and Alex Liifson say they've
added another seventeen cities to next year's concert tour begins
in June. The new stops include Montreal September second, twenty
twenty six, Abington December tenth, Vancouver December fifteenth, that's twenty

(01:16:20):
twenty sixth, and that will be at Rogers Arena Geddy
Lee Alex Liifson and you know what, I don't have
the name of the young drummer that's taking Neil Paris,
the female drummer a place the late great to Neil
Pairent place for that tour. But they're coming to Vancouver
December fifteenth, and you mentioned that also Seattle.

Speaker 1 (01:16:43):
Seattle is another one. Yeah, they announced a few. I mean,
I will say the demand for this thing has been amazing.
They're up to like five shows all sold out in
LA Like the initial run sold out so fast you
knew it was only a matter of time. They also
said in their statement about the way the fans have
see this, you know, like they've they've been okay with

(01:17:03):
an alternate drummer and everything this.

Speaker 4 (01:17:06):
German. Yeah, so Dave, that's the way you pronounce it.

Speaker 1 (01:17:08):
They've allowed this to kind of go on here.

Speaker 4 (01:17:11):
I think what's amazing is that people want to see Rush.

Speaker 1 (01:17:14):
Yeah, don't don't, don't don't you you're one of the
great Canadian bands. You pound your chest about great Canadian bands.
Bt O all that Rush right there.

Speaker 4 (01:17:28):
I can't. I've told you this a million times. This
is a band that just doesn't hit me. It's this
song is a great car song.

Speaker 1 (01:17:38):
No, but see it's this kind of stuff that doesn't
This is a good car song. When I get this
to the covert listen stop. But it's the name of
the song, Tom Sawyer one, No, I did not. I
got the connects on my website.

Speaker 4 (01:17:56):
They're good. They're good. I don't they don't hit me.

Speaker 5 (01:17:59):
I'm with you on that.

Speaker 1 (01:18:01):
Like there's like four or five songs.

Speaker 4 (01:18:02):
I've got friends who just they'll they'll pay a million
dollars to go to this concert, and I just I
know I should be more proud to be Canadian.

Speaker 5 (01:18:10):
I've already got in trouble from Elliott for pulling not
going for Canada's team. You should get in trouble.

Speaker 1 (01:18:16):
I do regret the fact that I'm not. I wasn't
able to see Neil part I would have loved to
seen him with Rush. That would have been cool. I
got no interest.

Speaker 5 (01:18:25):
Now you know what, if you look.

Speaker 4 (01:18:27):
On YouTube and his appearances on shows like David Letiman.
We talked about where he's just doing drum solos. It's amazing.
But I didn't know.

Speaker 1 (01:18:35):
Letterman did a drum solo week and he had all
drummers in really just to do drum solos, and he
was one of the drummers, which makes sense.

Speaker 4 (01:18:44):
Is amazing. He was the best. Yeah, Okay, got birthdays? Yeah,
I got so rush December fifteenth, next year, yeah, not
this year? Yeah all right or the year after, yeah,
maybe they will.

Speaker 5 (01:18:56):
All right, what are we doing? Birthdays? All right? I
got six? Get her up? Brought to you by Ricky
D's PI Services in No Frills Casino in Rollo, Saskatchewan.

Speaker 4 (01:19:05):
Hey go.

Speaker 5 (01:19:06):
Artwork supplied by Mario and Richmond. You better get this.
This center played for the Canucks in the mid nineteen
seventies for four years. He scored an NHL career high
of eighteen goals and forty four points in nineteen seventy six.

Speaker 4 (01:19:18):
With the Canucks.

Speaker 5 (01:19:20):
He finished his career in Toronto, then returned to Vancouver
in nineteen eighty two. Come on as a color analyst.
Gary mon Garry Monahan. We worked with his son that NW.

Speaker 4 (01:19:30):
You missed the best clue, you know, Gary Monahan is
the NHL's first ever draft.

Speaker 5 (01:19:35):
Okay, so if I say that, clue Don Taylor is
gonna say Gary Monahan in two seconds. My job is
to make your work, not that give you the easy freebies.
All right, here we go. He was tenth overall picked
by the Oilers in twenty eighteen NHL draft. He yeah,
this this defenseman. He had only Connor McDavid had more points.

Speaker 4 (01:19:57):
Oh, evan blue shirt.

Speaker 5 (01:19:57):
Evan blue shirt. Yeah, absolutely, okay.

Speaker 4 (01:20:00):
Here we go. He's under a lot of heating.

Speaker 5 (01:20:02):
Oh yes, he's had a whole Yeah, idiots.

Speaker 4 (01:20:05):
There's an effort level question with him. Right.

Speaker 1 (01:20:09):
I can hate all their players. Nurses under fire all
the time. Bouchard's under fire all the time.

Speaker 4 (01:20:16):
I don't think they hate all their players.

Speaker 1 (01:20:17):
Well no, but.

Speaker 5 (01:20:18):
It's just a he's getting it from the media right now,
no question, All right. This rapper has sold twenty three
million albums in the US thirty five million world wide.
You can't do it because I know what you went
on your music, but this you bring it up. He
was a part of a hip hop group called two thirteen,
named after Long Beach's original telephone area code. That's good,

(01:20:41):
that's the band that's the Bad Taste cube La say
all that his mother nicknamed him because he looked like
a character from the Peanuts comic strip Snoop Dogg, Doctor Dre.
That he was discovered by doctor He had it, Snoop
dog he said, Doctor Dre, Snoop Dogg, Snoop Dogg. That's it. Okay,
that's okay. Anyways, and my next clue was he loves

(01:21:01):
cheech and chong stuff. Anyways.

Speaker 4 (01:21:04):
He works with Michael Buble.

Speaker 5 (01:21:05):
He's turning fifty four. Yeah, we found out last Friday. Okay.
This singer met Elvis Presley at the age of eleven,
which inspired him to pursue music, and he dropped out
a high screen singer. Not everyone meets Elvis at eleven.
I wish i'd Johnny Cash. Huh not Johnny Cash, Johnny Cash. No, no, no.

(01:21:25):
He also had acting roles as a Lucky Kleinschmidt on
King of the Hill and appeared in the film Site Postman.
Don't don't this is for him?

Speaker 4 (01:21:36):
I know you know, No, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (01:21:37):
Okay, then I look at this. He turned down the
chance to record The Boys This Summer, which later became
a hit for Don Hendley grats On, Are you guy serious?

Speaker 4 (01:21:48):
I know who it is.

Speaker 5 (01:21:49):
Okay, don't say it. His nineteen eighty nine album Full
Moon Fever Come on, Ryan TP Tom Petty, Tom Petty.
Yeah you didn't have free Fall and that was a
great album. Oh oh, I won't back down, Running Down
a Dream and my favorite free fall. In free Falling,
he did a cover of Tom Sawyer. Yeah, yeah, he

(01:22:10):
hold it. I got more, I got more, Let's go.
I thought it was over. This actor is known for
his immersive acting style. Even starved himself for his role
in the Road, the movie The Road. He he he
starved himself for that role, and he got an Academy
Award nomination. Press Actor Bail for his role in the

(01:22:31):
two thousand and sixties millionist Captain Fantastic, the movie Captain Fantastic.
He he bought the horses he rode. This is a
two stories. He bought the horses he roared in the
Okay you got don't make me repeat it. He bought
the horses he rode in Lord of the Rings. Oh, Viga,

(01:22:55):
my next half fan abs fan mont Vigo Mortenson is
turning sixty six one more. You better get this and
I'll do it quick.

Speaker 4 (01:23:03):
He's a great story about how it became up.

Speaker 5 (01:23:05):
Oh, he's a great, a great guy. Habs Fan seven
World Series championships in his eighteen year career in Major
League David Marts Let's stop it, Donnie. He made his
MLB debut April seventeen, nineteen fifty one, after the Great
Babe Ruth played his final game for the Yankees, and
then he came on to the Yankees, the only player
to had hundred fifty home runs from each side of
the plate.

Speaker 4 (01:23:25):
Oh, Mickey Mantle.

Speaker 5 (01:23:26):
Mickey Mantle no longer with us because he's.

Speaker 4 (01:23:28):
Been in the news lately because of cal Rally there
is Yeah, that's it. Okay, we're gonna go. Let's go,
let's go, all right, all right. The late Tom Petty
born on this day in nineteen fifty Is it just me?
Is coming up? No, not yet? Now hold on a
second here, you just feel it, Tom Petty, He's got
to play a June ninety one and the album into
the Great Wide Open. This is Tom Petty and the

(01:23:50):
Heartbreakers Rick learning to Fly on check with a nineties
come Alive on a BC Monday morning. Is it just Me?

Speaker 5 (01:23:57):
Is? Next?

Speaker 4 (01:24:02):
Will have studied it out, done a dirty road study
just before.

Speaker 5 (01:24:17):
Is it just me?

Speaker 4 (01:24:17):
One name we haven't mentioned regarded the Canucks and their
injury woes, Rick at Ratu, who's been a healthy scratch.
Obviously you would think he would be insurted.

Speaker 5 (01:24:26):
In all the lineup tomorrow, a big time coming into
the lineup. They need help Donnie up the middle of
the ice, no question about it.

Speaker 4 (01:24:33):
Is it just me? And all right?

Speaker 5 (01:24:35):
If le bait plays, he best be dropping the Mets
and show that he knows his role. Or Elvin better
go out and acquire tough guy Bobby and Vancouver they
have tried to acquire a tough guy don but the
tough guy's got to play.

Speaker 4 (01:24:49):
But it's altbait like that. Rick, I don't know.

Speaker 5 (01:24:51):
I shouldn't he remember the didn't you fight in the
preseason for the Canucks.

Speaker 4 (01:24:55):
My memory is not helping me here.

Speaker 5 (01:24:56):
They just can't get their hands on a guy who
can not only fight, but be in the everyday lineup
every day. That's the big thing.

Speaker 4 (01:25:03):
Adam, the former BAF guy. Is it just me? But
maybe Rush doesn't hit Donnie and Ryan Because Geddy Lee
is a huge Blue Jays fan. He was in attendance.
He was. I saw that. I saw that basic player
and singer for Rush.

Speaker 5 (01:25:16):
He's a great guy. He's a great guy and it's
a great Canadian bad. Okay, did you know that the
referee from yesterday's game in Washington was the son of
old Cannock Great Jim the House Sandlac from Schwinn. Oh right, Yes,
our audience is great and Jim Sandla like one of
our Donnie's house house. Bob mcavanck called him the house.
He was six four two twenty h never became the

(01:25:37):
guy we thought he would.

Speaker 4 (01:25:39):
But super guy. Uh Ken and Cloverdale. Is it just me?
But I bet Donnie and Ryan are going to cheer
for the Dodgers after the Jays eliminate the Mariners. Come on, guys,
w t H go Jays has from Ken in Cloverdale.
Kenn Brian and I are getting a lot of heat.

Speaker 1 (01:25:56):
Kennon Cloverdale's good guy. Once the Mariners go out, I
would move over to the J's.

Speaker 4 (01:26:00):
Are you kidding me? No chance, not a chance.

Speaker 1 (01:26:04):
I hope the Dodgers find a way to somehow sweep
the Jay's in three games.

Speaker 5 (01:26:07):
But it's not.

Speaker 4 (01:26:08):
Again, it's not And I think you feel the same way.
It's not about the team. It's certainly not about John Schneider.
He was wonderful here in Vancouver.

Speaker 1 (01:26:14):
I'll admit it. I love watching Garro junior. This case,
it's been unbelievable. It's about the coverage drops Vancouver. They
wouldn't do that. Two minutes.

Speaker 5 (01:26:29):
You watch Joe Carter and you jumped ten feet in
the air, just like I did. I remember I was
at a party with a There was a whole bunch
of slew of us at the Best Western. No, we're
in a basement up north and Joe Carter that we
went won a party. We went nuts. I took I
took four days to recover from that day. But listen,
it's kind of this team. You guys should be ashamed

(01:26:50):
of yourselves. Is it just me? But I'm willing to
bet Evander Kaine won't be on this team. Prior to
the trade deadline, He's been a ghost, has had no
impact out they're braiding from abospop.

Speaker 4 (01:27:00):
Well, I got to disagree with that. I know he's
made some bad giveaways. There are other things going on
off the ice with the Vander. We're not going to
get we're not gonna get him.

Speaker 5 (01:27:10):
No, I don't want to get into that.

Speaker 4 (01:27:11):
But the pass he made to Blueger with his foot yesterday,
he was also largely responsible for the Myers goal as well,
causing all sorts of havoc in front of front of
the neett. I put it this way, he's been much
better now than he was when I first saw him
in the preseason, and I thought, well, man, why do
they sign this guy?

Speaker 5 (01:27:32):
And then he's gotten better and better. I think anyway,
he's also been much better. You know why, Don, because
he gets to play in the top six. When he's
on the third line, he doesn't have the creative senator
to get him the pockets. That guy was on the
line with an eighteen year old Don, he's a National
Hockey League veteran of fourteen to fifteen years.

Speaker 4 (01:27:48):
Anyway, good player, you can play with anybody.

Speaker 5 (01:27:51):
Would have been nice to have zador Off in the
lineup as an intimidating factor. This is a great text
on they let Zadoroff go or Tiger Williams. Yeah, Tiger Williams.
We love Tiger Williams. I could talk about Tiger old day.

Speaker 4 (01:28:04):
Okay, this is just me. Come on, Rick, go to
a pub with your buddies to watch the white Caps.
That's our ploy, Rod.

Speaker 5 (01:28:09):
Would I go to a pub when the best seat
in the house is on your couch?

Speaker 4 (01:28:12):
Yeah, but you don't know your couch. Don You're unable
to access Apple TV.

Speaker 5 (01:28:18):
I'm not gonna do it. The white Caps have lost me.

Speaker 4 (01:28:21):
Okay, break, We'll wrap up the show on the poll question.
Next Tony telling the team on.

Speaker 5 (01:28:26):

Surrey Troy, Yeah, in our inbox, our base side of inbox.
How is a late hit?

Speaker 1 (01:29:43):
Is it just me?

Speaker 4 (01:29:44):
But how is a late hit a clean hit? Hashtag
dirty by definition? That's a good point by Surrey Troy
contributes a lot. You got some photo.

Speaker 5 (01:29:53):
That's a good point, Ryan. Where we're going here?

Speaker 1 (01:29:56):
The first photo we got is courtesy uh arguably our
most loyal viewers.

Speaker 5 (01:30:02):
Oh Bob, Bob, Marine Bob and Maureene. Yeah yeah, look

friends that live on Salt Spring Island, Mike and Kathy

Speaker 4 (01:30:39):
Wild dogs are low maintenance.

Speaker 5 (01:30:42):
Yeah, that's the honest truth. Next one, where we're going here?

Speaker 4 (01:30:46):
This is Jay Jay.

Speaker 5 (01:30:47):
We held our chums annual draft today while the Canucks
