Team Radio right here, Canada's team going up against the
Big Bat America Radio bad, big bad Americans starting Friday.
Speaker 1 (01:09):
Well, I consider the Blue Jays the big bad guys
from Toronto one of the Mariners to win. Get on
the freaking bad way. Why would I get on the
band which Canada.
Speaker 4 (01:19):
Versus the USA, and you can't you can't support the
Canadian team.
Speaker 1 (01:22):
I love these and I threw some stuff out on
Twitter yesterday. We get various comments into the into the
Bayside inbox here. These people get so upset the Ryan
and I and at farhand that we're on the We
were on the side of the Seattle mirritors. You know,
I don't know why. I have no idea why I
know the first state issue, there's all of that, and
(01:46):
you're you're anti Canadian and yet you have a team
in Toronto, a city that supports the Buffalo Bills better
than it does the Toronto are talk about anti Canadian.
I can't believe the Come on, I want to see
(02:07):
the Dodgers win. They got Freddy Freeman.
Speaker 5 (02:11):
It's a proud Toronto Blue Jays farm team is about
four blocks away from it, that beautiful Matt Bailey Stadium,
and the Canadian the Blue Jays are who went through
that Bailey, Who went through that Bailey and ended up on.
Speaker 1 (02:25):
The Blue Jays roster. John Schneider for Yeah, give us one,
give us one.
Speaker 4 (02:30):
Savage, you savage the manager that the whole slew of them.
I'm not gonna sit here and break it down the
Canadians roster.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
But I know you said there's a million us here
they are.
Speaker 4 (02:39):
Hey, let's support the Vancouver Canadians and the Toronto Blue Jays.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Okay, and the Canadians have had other parent teams as
well through the years. You might not remember that, but
I have a hard time, I'm sorry, I have a
hard time pulling for teams from Toronto. I don't like
the Leafs.
Speaker 6 (02:58):
You're an industry, You're you're in an industry that has
been decimated by decisions made off.
Speaker 1 (03:05):
Toronto, and yet here you are pulling for their team.
Speaker 4 (03:08):
There's a lot of idiots in Toronto with suits that
ruined Vancouver radio.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
I'll give you that. And some of them, some of
them are involved with the Blue Jays too. I got
news for you, Go Jays Friday World Series. I will
say this, I have to thank the Blue Jays and
Mariners because my kids, even my interest in basics, are
smart sports guys. But they're all they are all pulling
(03:34):
for the Mariners. Well, I'm disappointed and brainwash the successfully
by the way, although the Marinders are are out. But boy,
I tell you, baseball is really good right now. And
I don't know what the ratings are down in the States,
Blue Jays, Mariners, those markets not sexy markets when it
comes to South of the border and television ratings. But
(03:54):
in our household and people all around Canada, you know,
I'll give the Blue Jays credit for that. There's a
lot of emotion. They're a lot of interest. And he
just reminded me, and look, I'm a Canadian. I focus
a lot on hockey and other sports. Just reminded me
of how great baseball is and it's better now. Those
rule changes have really helped. That's that fifteen second pitch
(04:15):
clock is great. Baseball is great. And I'll tell you what,
you know. I know we're gonna we're gonna talk about
the Cannucks in a bit. And I know you don't
like this guy, Ryan, and I understand why. George Springer, Oh,
it has to do with what did the cheating scan
of diastros back in the day. But this is why
we love sports so much, not the cheating, although that
(04:38):
is an interesting issue. George Springer looked like he was
gone the game five five? Is he going to be
able to finish? Here? The playoffs? And you know, a
couple of days later, a couple of games later, here
we got the home run. Here he is playing hero.
This was great. But what a great story. No matter
(04:59):
what you think of Springer.
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Did he get a hold of that? And twenty third done?
He postseason?
Speaker 1 (05:04):
Uh? Yeah, tied for third all time and home runs
in baseball. It's a little bit different because the baseball
format has been expanded through the years. So there's that.
But Ron, why are you like he's crying? Well, you
and I are on the same page, is there? So
I forget the Houston Astros cheating scandal aside, I don't
(05:25):
think he was the one banging the garbage can. Maybe
he was, I'm not really sure. Back in the day,
people who followed baseball know what I'm talking about. But
I'm just saying, this is why we love sports. Like
I've said this a million times. Everybody talks about two
thousand and Survivor and the start of reality television. It's
always been their reality television. It's called sports. The guy
(05:46):
was he was finished, got hitting the knee, limping around,
had to leave the game game five, and here he is,
let's listen to me going on about the Blue Jays,
and then you know, a couple of games later, he's
the hero. That's why we love sports.
Speaker 4 (06:01):
I had tears flowing. Joe Carter, Jose Bautista. This is
what it This is what it does.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
Ryan. You know what, I'm not gonna say it's hard
warming at all.
Speaker 6 (06:12):
Were you crying with your tweet? Slash it just the baby?
The Mariners coughed it up. I mean, I'm not I'm
not crying about it. The Mariner's cough.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
I'm not playing. Yeah, do not agree with me that
that forget his past, like this is not a great story. No,
I'm not going to agree with you. I'm not going
to agree. Then, I watched this and enjoyed it, and
I'm not the fact that Blue Jays one, but I
do like that. I just love that this series sparked
(06:40):
my interest in baseball again, more than more than I
can remember in a long long time. Oh, I love
that part of it, and also love that story no
matter who it was. Within reason. Yeah, okay, so there's that.
I was definitely pulling for the murders and don't give
me the bs about me being you know, you know,
a non Canadian or bad Canadian because I was for
the Mariners.
Speaker 4 (07:01):
No, No, I almost hurt my shoulder because so hard.
I'll tell you I said, I saw something to my shoulder. Canadian.
Speaker 1 (07:09):
I'm feeling something right now. Canada, Canada's team. Yeah ninety three,
Joe Carter get on board. Yeah yeah, well okay, I'm
not going I'm not gonna buy that. But the Springer
to me is a good story, so visual with him
limping around and then what we saw, what we saw
last night, and there is there is the Seas connection,
but I just will never connection. Yeah, I pulled for
(07:32):
the Seas. I don't pull for their parents.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
There is a US president that's putting tariffs on Canadians,
cost Canadian jobs, and you know what that's being.
Speaker 1 (07:42):
Therefore, I can't. I can't pull for a team. More
reason on a sack not to vote for those guys.
So I've seen waye I said this to Elliott yesterday,
He's on your side. I've seen way more Mariners games
that I've seen Jays. The Blue Jays are a five
hour plane ride, the Mariners a two hour drive away.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
I go back to Jesse Barfield. You know that, Dave Steve,
you know that back in the eighties they had.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Some Well you know why I know that. You know
why I know that because we get that team shoved
down our throat every every day during the summer, especially
Jimmy Key. Yeah, okay, you go through the list. Here's
the other thing too. I've always held a grudge against
the Blue jay Is because I think their existence may
have played a part in the demise of my favorite team,
(08:27):
the Montreal Expos.
Speaker 6 (08:29):
There's a lot of people that have brought up in
the inbox that have been Mariners fans, talking about how
previous to the mega deal between Sports and the Jays,
a lot of Mariners games locally was shown here before
that happened. Then it was no Rodgers is coming in
bulldozing everything, and now we're all going to.
Speaker 1 (08:45):
Be forced to But all Ryan is saying is that
Ryan and I and others have a hard time believing
that people in Toronto and people like you can't accept
that some people are Mariners fans in British Columbia.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
I grew up and King TV, Tony Ventrella, he was like, good,
Wayne Cody, all those guys, those Seattle Guys, Seahawks. I
grew up watching Bosworth. I had a poster him. He
played football, you know, I'm telling you Seattle Sports.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
I had a poster of Brian Boss. Yeah he's talking
about there's a million times the back. I was a
life size poster. Yeah, okay, all right, what's wrong with that?
First of all, to the NFL with the big big
and he was a bust, asked Bo Jackson. He was
a bust.
Speaker 4 (09:30):
I know he was a bust, but I had his
poster as a kid. I watched Seattle Sports all my life.
But when it's the Canada's team, come on, man, mister corporate.
Speaker 6 (09:39):
Now Taylor will love the the top submission I clicked
on in the baseide front retorting boxes from Danielle, Donny
and Ryan and you need to get over your ridiculous
hate for Toronto. The Blue Jay has been amazing. Go
Jay's go. Daniel from Victoria originally born in Toronto. So
you're born in Toronto and you chose to leave Toronto.
Speaker 1 (09:57):
That's interesting. Here you go and bar Toronto. So my
she moved to the best. Barker played in that Bailly too,
and so did Fla Harden. Well, there you go. You
don't know that that.
Speaker 4 (10:06):
Made four guys on the Blue Jays played in Vancouver
and that Bailey Stadium.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
Great, that's awesome. That's played in that Billy stadium. I
don't care. Conversation. Are you voting for the Tri City
About Josh Taylor? What about Josh Dane who's from Toronto
by the way, in Toronto area? Oh?
Speaker 4 (10:22):
Yeah, yeah, he's a great player. Unfortunately season's over.
Speaker 6 (10:26):
Yeah, all right, co Dodgers go absolutely, I I I
think it could be ugly.
Speaker 1 (10:33):
Oh keep thinking that. I hope.
Speaker 4 (10:36):
So they're gonna They're gonna put up a good fight.
And by the way, Boba Schett is ready to go.
You know he's gonna She's American League and hits twice.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
Yeah, six year has been hurt from what two threes?
Ready to go? Right? Have you heard of Showy?
Speaker 6 (10:53):
Oh he's a j right. Yeah, I was told he
was like signing with the Jay Show. Hey, remember everybody
was getting that remembers a guarante he's done.
Speaker 1 (11:00):
Every Friday, every free agent in hockey, every free agent
Toronto is interested. I think they're gonna sign.
Speaker 6 (11:07):
Him, by the way, quickly, I know we have to
move to Canucks. But Vlatty yesterday with that leafs jersey,
I was hoping so bad that was going to bite
him in the ass.
Speaker 1 (11:14):
You're wearing a leaf jersey to a game. Sorry for
Matthews there because he was catching or or or feeling
sorry for Vladdie And yes, do you know the history. Yes,
that's not a good I know. Now I'm wondering if
he wears it every game of the World Series exactly
if they keep winning. We got time for the Canucks,
oh quickly on our text line is going nuts. Okay,
(11:38):
Canucks of Pittsburgh tonight, Archer Sea Loves former Canuck. Oh no,
abbots Ford Canuck hero. It's not the Canucks in Pittsburgh tonight.
It's the Absburh Conuck Okay, good one. You've been waiting
all the morning and made a joke. But that's still
the Canucks. Abspur, Canucks and Pittsburgh tonight. Everybody watched well
and Abbitts former Abbos for Connock goaltender up against the Canucks.
Archter' sea loves is going to get the start the Penguins.
(12:01):
It will be Kevin Lankinen for the Vancouver Connects. You
gotta look at the lineup here. Dan Murphy, our friend
from Sportsnet, Yeah Murphy Rogers Sportsnet owners of the Blue
Jays tweeted this out today and I think he did
this suspecially for you numbers rights. Some treats in there
as well.
Speaker 4 (12:20):
Okay, so seventy four debrosk Patterson, Garland first line, second line,
all Abbey seven Abospher players in the big Amastad line
bains the San Carlson by the way, they were great
last game. Fourth line. Then you got Kine and he
puts a rat in there, and I didn't understand that.
What's a rat, don it's rat plus the y Ratti.
(12:42):
Took me a while to click in, as you would understand.
But anyways, Kine Ratty very creative, Dan Ratu, No, is
it ratty Ratu? Yeah, that's it rat to But he's
got rat the JD just anyways, forty four Sure what O'Connor,
Amon and le Bait. Oh my Donnie, this is the
Absper seven Abbey guys in the lineup tonight. Uh hughes
(13:05):
Heronic Patterson, Myers, Peterson, Joseph, Joseph's back Wilander is the
extra D tonight, po Joseph Pierre Pierre PG yep. Anyways,
this is the lineup, folks, This is the lineup I
have never I hope he go back a few decades.
(13:25):
I have never seen this many farm hands in a
Vancouver Canucks NHL regular season game in my entire life.
There are seven Abbey players. Two more there Wilander three
in absperg Hurt. I feel for Manny maultra He's got
ten eleven guys to practice. It's ridiculous, but this is
where we're at.
Speaker 1 (13:43):
You have to accept that. As a coach of normal,
that's okay, it's it's not normal. I think it is.
Actually it's not normal. Usually have one or two guys
from Abby. You're used to fluctuation. But let's update the
health of the injured Vancouver Canucks. First of all, Philippine, okay,
so back in Vancouver.
Speaker 4 (14:02):
Yeah, so, Canucks obviously monitoring the heatal situation. You know,
Donnie most likely would have seen a doctor yesterday, So
you worry about headaches, nauseat, equilibrium issues, throwing up. If
he showed those symptoms yesterday, there's got to be major
concerned by the Canucks.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
He did, or I said, if he did.
Speaker 4 (14:20):
There's got to be concerned. Don There's got to be
concerned if he showed those symptoms. This guy's dealing with
his seventh or eighth career concussion possibly. And for the
people ripping the Canucks for acquiring him, they did their
due diligence. They checked all his medical records before they
made the trade with the Rangers. You have to do that.
Speaker 1 (14:38):
Is it possible they made a mistake.
Speaker 4 (14:40):
Well, time will tell. And I do want to get
this in, Donny, because this is important. Canucks have not
asked for full year long term injured reserve for Hetl yet, Yes,
say that again, year long, full year, long term injured
reserve for Hetl. Yet they haven't done.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
It, but they're considering it.
Speaker 4 (14:57):
Well, you have to at some point if it's bad
to use his full salary if needed, the Canucks must
declare Heatl out for the season, including the playoffs. They
haven't done that yet, so we'll keep an eye out.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
But is that out there right now? That talk? You
got it? It's a possibility.
Speaker 4 (15:12):
It was for Barkoff from Kachuk in Florida, Florida. They
didn't do that. But if they don't declare him out,
they can only use last year's aa V to replace him,
which is under four million. They haven't gone there yet
to say this guy's out for the year, but everything's
on the table and thinks of in terms of thinking
of about his future, it has to be a lackamacky
(15:33):
I'm here, Yeah, he's I'm hearing a couple of weeks
for Lacara Makie. He's brought Besser. It looks like Besser's
out tonight. Uh so he's still dealing with a personal situation.
Speaker 1 (15:44):
Done and Teddy Blueger not at the game. Murphy said
he's not playing tonight, but according to the lineup, yeah,
that that just kills. Look at the Canucks up the
middle of tonight. Don yep.
Speaker 4 (15:57):
Ever since the san Ratu and him on, I have
never seen the Vancouver Canucks. We've been covering this team
for decades, never seen three centers in the American League.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
And I think that I don't know if you call
it a bright spot, but at least Peedison has been better.
Could you imagine if we saw him where he was
last year? Like, how bad it would I mean, it's
bad enough I'm talking with depth wise right now, but
imagine if he was you know, and I know it's
very early, but he's showing signs of getting back to
(16:30):
where he once was. Can you imagine if that if
that wasn't the case. Derek Forbert's another injured player, four.
Speaker 4 (16:36):
Bert and boy oh boy, they're just getting injured or wrong.
They got to go out on They are scouring, you know,
everything in terms of trying to find a center. They
got to get going here. But how much money do
they get to play with? That's a big thing too.
Speaker 1 (16:51):
Okay, so Canucks Penguins, and we'll talk more about that
and just this. We've heard about it a lot. I
don't think we've really seen a real strong example of
that condensed schedule because of the twenty twenty six Olympics,
the kind of fans you're about to see it. We'll
talk about that a little bit later. Is it just
(17:11):
me DTMZ coming up in the eleven o'clock hour. Craig
Butt is going to join us just after eleven. We'll
ask him about if there's any explanation for what's happening
with the New York Rangers. Four home games, four losses,
one goal in four home games. Could you imagine if
that was here? Big ride the quitter Guy. Coming up
(17:33):
later this hour and coming up next. We recorded this
interview yesterday. BC Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke. Huge game. They
have a chance to nail down a home playoff date
Saturday in Saskatchewan. We'll talk to Nathan about that and
his terrific season so far. Next, thanks for tuning in, Folks,
(17:53):
Go Dodgers, Donnie Dolly the team. I check Donnie and Dollie.

That fine, It's hilarious. Who uh that Rick, who is
the king of I hate Toronto. How many times has
he screamed on air? Those Toronto people have no idea
about what's happening in Vancouver. They don't care yet now
(19:06):
it's Team Canada. He also basically spends half the year
there refusing to hang out with John Shannon Rick, mister torontoile,
where is all your Toronto hate? What?
Speaker 4 (19:17):
I hate Toronto? I hate the suits who ruined Vancouver radio.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Okay, but let's pull for the team. That one of
the companies, notorious companies he used to work for, owns.
Speaker 4 (19:30):
The other company that's got three AM radio stations in
Vancouver dead. It's not the company that owns the Jays,
they've got radio stations on the AM dial.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
It's the other company. We've been laid off by all
of them. And that all these people texting in to
me about how, oh, don you know you shouldn't have
got into broadcasting because you knew that it wasn't like
that before you knew that these corporations owned all these states.
It wasn't it wasn't like that before. It wasn't. All
admit that, and there's nothing wrong with this. It's emotional.
(20:01):
I like these guys. I'm sorry, I don't right. I
think Ryan feels the same way you. I'm not sure
what you're doing.
Speaker 4 (20:10):
I go back to the Blue Jays, to the back
of the seventies when they play.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
So that's the same way with me.
Speaker 6 (20:19):
With me, my parents took us to Mariners games because
you know why, we could drive to those games, not
getting a flight.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
That's so.
Speaker 6 (20:26):
Then when I say that I like the Mariners, if
people go I'm a bad Canadian, well just because they're
over the border.
Speaker 1 (20:32):
They That was something me and my family did.
Speaker 4 (20:34):
No different than you watching Joe carter Us because you
go to get cheese in the US and I go
to bellis Fair.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
It's not another reason it is.
Speaker 6 (20:42):
There's a lot of people in the inbox saying not
everything has to go political, and I agree with this
some of it. Every you know, it's not not everything
keeps sports to sports, Like I'm not just because I
like the Mariners doesn't mean I'm agreeing with their president
or whoever that president is at the time. I like
that sports team, Like, don't keep going at nine million levels,
like weighing in on the terrace.
Speaker 1 (21:01):
Well, here here's the difference there. When it comes to
I don't know why I'm going to say this, but
I'm good to you when it comes to cheese. Yeah, yeah,
you have choices up here. Thank you. You can get
yourself a good Canadian. Thank you, Armstrong. Not as good
time the case. Okay, it's baseball MLB anyway. At that level,
you don't really have a choice. So I'm actually backing
(21:21):
you up when it comes to baseball, not so much.
And they're equating it to cheese.
Speaker 4 (21:25):
You think foods doesn't have that cheese? You go in
the States too, they don't have tilamock. Tillamock's not about
it's not up here in Yeah. Yeah, that's too rich
for me.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
Man. Oh sharp, Yeah, it's also expensive cheese. How special
is this cheese that you're going for? Is got nice?
It's creamy and cheesus cheese. So let's switch gears here
and talk about the BBC Lions there at sasketchwent to
end the regular season. Put pay attention here Saturday in Regina.
The Lions have won five straight seven of nine. As
(21:56):
a result. Rick they win that game, they host a
playoff game. They host the Western semi against either Calgary
or Winnipeg.
Speaker 4 (22:05):
Okay, get on board, people of Vancouver with this Lion's team,
hottest team in the league. Nathan Rourke is their quarterback,
best quarterback in the league.
Speaker 1 (22:15):
Man, you're on side. It's just unbelievable and he should be.
They're playing great. But I'm just talking about the Lions,
but more so the Blue Jays. So Nathan work is
their quarterback. Most outstanding player candidate, maybe the number one
candidates right now along with bowl Levi Mitchell. It's debatable
most outstanding Canagian. He joined us yesterday. We recorded this
(22:37):
interview yesterday, and if you go back to last week
against Ebonton, how about that seventy yard run by Nathan
Roke the play of the game. They had a tough
first half, but they ended up winning that game thirty
seven to twenty four. Strong second half. But we started
off a conversation with Nathan by asking him that well,
talking about how many people were impressed by that seventy
(23:01):
yard touchdown run Friday night at BC Place. We asked him,
if you know that run. I know it was a
broken place, so nice, but Nathan must have been a
whole lot of fun. Yeah, it was.
Speaker 7 (23:11):
It was a ton of fun. I've never had that
much open grass to run.
Speaker 1 (23:17):
You know, it was.
Speaker 7 (23:20):
Obviously not something that we had planned, but just kind
of an interesting circumstance where things kind of came together
and I had an opportunity to show what I've been
working on in the off season. So that was fun.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
How much have you worked on your speed through the year?
So I think you blew a lot of people away there.
Speaker 7 (23:38):
Yeah, I mean it's it's always something I've been working on.
I think, you know, from a base situation, you want
to be able to have enough speed to get away
from the defensive end and run all the RPOs and
Sally game and stuff. But you know, I ran the
ball a ton in college, and so it's always been
you know, I've always had a little bit of quickness
to me, but the speed stuff is something I've worked
(23:59):
really really hard on and trying to improve that every year.
And we've got a new performance coach and Tanner carry
this offseason all right. The organization went out and hired
a really really good player person to help develop and
be around and really just kind of bought into his program.
And and it's always cool when you get to see
(24:19):
all that work playoff.
Speaker 1 (24:21):
Hey and Nathan, I think every every aspect of this
team has improved in the second half of the season.
But five straight wins, seven of nine. What are the
reasons for all that success?
Speaker 7 (24:32):
Yeah, I think I think we haven't really changed too
much in our process. I think we're just getting a
little bit more comfortable and in in what you know,
what our role is, offense, defense, special teams. I think
we're playing better complimentary football, and I think we're just
putting you can tell that there's been just a real focus,
(24:54):
not to say there was a lack of that, you know,
in the first half of the season, but you know,
I think we're just we're trusting each other, We're playing
really confident, and you know, I think I think obviously,
you know, our defenses get is really stepped up and
getting turnovers and and you know, forcing teams off the
field and putting us in good in good positions. So
(25:16):
I think there's a lot of really good things that
we're doing and and hopefully that will continue.
Speaker 1 (25:21):
Talk with Nathan Rourke. Nathan, how is it on a
fairly regular basis your team is able to recover from
what I would say are tough starts.
Speaker 7 (25:34):
Yeah, I mean, you know, obviously, we don't want to
have tough starts when we want to start fast and
and but you know, like I said, I think our
defense is keeping us in a lot of those games early.
Speaker 1 (25:44):
And and we would.
Speaker 7 (25:46):
Love to you know, we talked about starting fast every
every every week there will be something that we think about,
you know, going to this one as well. You know,
and we want to especially in our away game. But
you know, I think there's not a ton of panic
on the sideline or in the locker room when when
we're not playing the way we know were was ten
ten going in the locker room this time around, and
(26:08):
there's no point fingers or blaming anybody. We just know, hey,
let's stick to our process. We know we can move
the ball. We know with the mistakes there are more
about us and less about what they're doing. And and
I think we there's just a tremendous belief offensively that
you know, when we get out of our own way,
we can play with anybody. So we just believe in
each other and believe in the process, and we just
keep on keeping on.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
Nathan.
Speaker 4 (26:30):
Not only do the Lions got the best quarterback in
the CFL, I think they got the best cropper receivers.
How nice is it to throw to these guys every game?
Speaker 7 (26:38):
Yeah, I would agree with you. I think I think
we got the one of the best groups, if not
the best. And and I think that the biggest thing
for me that stands out about them is that I
think that they're very selfless group. But I think one
of the the one of the most team oriented receiving
groups that I've been around. They just they just play
for each other. That you can tell with the all
(26:58):
the celebrations they do, the way that they block for
each other down the field, the way they block on
the run game. They're very willing to be able to
help the team no matter what. They're not about yards
or you know, single you know, statistics or anything like that.
They just want to trust to win. And that's that's
a tremendous honor. And it's a privilege to be around
as a quarterback when you know, guys aren't you know,
(27:21):
being head cases in the locker room and stuff like that.
Speaker 4 (27:24):
No kidding, and listen, no quarterback can do anything without
a good offensive line. What about the guys that protect
you every game?
Speaker 7 (27:32):
Yeah, they've been They've been tremendous as well, you know,
certainly had some issues, you know, with injuries this year,
and they've kind of hit taken it with stride, and
the guys who have been inserted into the into the
lineup have done a really really good job of just
stepping up. And I haven't felt, you know, like there
hasn't been any change with that, So that's always great
(27:52):
for me. And and be able to have, you know,
have trust and confidence in those guys is a huge
part of being able to sit back in the pocket
and be poised and go your reads and not feel
like you're rushed at all. And I think the testament
to them they just they just work it tremendously hard.
They spend extra time in the film room talking with
each other. Communication this year has been off the charts.
And the leadership. I'm really proud of the guys in
(28:14):
in that room specifically that have stepped up and and
and taken control of that of that room and and
really forced each other to communicate and hold each other
accountable and make sure that every week who no matter
who's in there, they're going to be ready as best
as possible. So just been a really good group to
be around. And and I think they're deserving. Uh, they're
(28:35):
I mean always, they're always, you know, always a group
that's going to get, you know, less recognition than they deserve.
But I think especially this group, they are a huge
part of of what all of our success offensively, and
and we don't go anywhere.
Speaker 4 (28:47):
Without them, you know, Saskatchewan. It may not be a
big game for them on Saturday, but is for you guys.
You guys need that victory. How important to get that
whole playoff date?
Speaker 7 (28:56):
Yeah, I mean it's huge for us. I mean obviously
in the in the playoffs, we you know, we we
wanna we want to be able to, you know, be
in a situation where you know, it's we don't have
to travel or or you know, we don't have to
we can play in front of our home fans and
they can play a role. Our fans have been tremendous
all year, showing up in a big way, making it
tough for other other teams to play in our in
(29:20):
our place, at BC Place, and making it loud and
all that kind of stuff, and so you know, we
want to be able to bring it back for you know,
one more game for them, and also just to be
able to play in that environment one more time, so
you know, it's a big one for us for sure.
We're we're definitely, uh, we feel like we owe these
guys a little bit as well. But it's also you know,
(29:41):
we know what we're gonna have to go through them
to to get to where we want to go in
the in Winnipeg, in the Great Cups. So we know
that this one is a big one for sure, This
on Saturday, and and for more than one reason.
Speaker 1 (29:53):
Okay, off the subject but a bit, Nathan, but that
seventy yard run the other day would have been a
sixty yard run a couple of years from now. How
did your meeting go with with the commissioner. I don't
know how much you can say yeah.
Speaker 7 (30:10):
Yeah, I mean I think, uh, well, I will say,
you know, just to start, I think I appreciate Steve's
willingness to be able to to speak, and especially after
you know, he was he was called out and in
more more than one way, and I appreciate his his
willingness to be able to speak. I think at this
(30:30):
point there's I think we're probably further away than I
initially thought on a lot of issues and just how
we see the league and and and what what the
issues are and what we could improve. I think that
the that that, you know, I think that things are,
we're probably further away than I initially thought, was disappointing.
And I hope they continue that continue to you know,
(30:53):
be able to talk to to people that matter and
owners and the Board of governors and and and mister
John as well, and just trying to figure out how
we can you know, come to some kind of you know,
agreement on something. I think I think that there's I'm
glad that there's a vision, and I'm glad that there's direction.
(31:14):
I just don't currently agree with where we're going right now.
And I want to be able to stand up for
Canadian football and and and for the players in this league,
which I believe is exciting and and I think I've
heard from the last couple of weeks, you know, months,
or whoever long it's been, I've heard from a lot
of fans who who don't feel like there's anything wrong
(31:35):
with the league. It's exciting enough. And you know, as
a player, I feel like we've got a lot of
exciting players as well, and certainly able to more than
happy to continue to stand up for stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
Well, your passion came through, just like it does on
the field, Nathan, best of luck and for JOHNA and
thanks for doing this.
Speaker 7 (31:53):
Thanks guys, appreciate it.
Speaker 1 (31:56):
Pacient Lions quarterback Nathan Rourke. Again, it's the Lions in
Saskatchew when in Regiona Saturday. Win that game and they
host a playoff game at BC Place.
Speaker 4 (32:06):
Donnie one of the most genuine, honest interviews for us.
For me, and he's Canadian, a Canadian quarterback dominating the
Canadian game. It's an American skill position. So happy to
see this guy doing well. And you know what, Donnie,
we have not seen a Canadian quarterback dominate like this,
and it is so nice to see this guy do well.
Speaker 1 (32:29):
And you know what, he's a Canadian quarterback, and yet
Ryan and I like him to get on board everything.
Second of the CFL in passing yardage, eighth in rushing yards,
Nathan Wurke, and we thank him for joining us in.
Speaker 4 (32:42):
Donnie's defensive backs and safety should be quicker than a quarterback.
And on that seventy yard run they were passed, he
blew past the defensive back and the safety too.
Speaker 1 (32:53):
We saw that. Okay, well, We're gonna take a break
and up next we'll do something we haven't done yet.
It has to do with the caducks or poll question,
our wild and Dog poll question. We'll introduce it next.

Speaker 1 (33:56):
When the game, remember that I'm lost? What is this? Okay?
Speaker 5 (34:19):
That?
Speaker 1 (34:20):
That is the theme song from the NBA on CBS.
Back in the seventies. That's the show that got me
into into the NBA, into basketball. NBA season opens tonight
with two games defending champions Oka See hosting the Rockets
Golden State in l A to take on the Lakers.
Brent Musburger or he was Rick Stockton. I want to
(34:43):
say that Pat summerl did some games as well, better
known for football Dick's Dick stock that I mentioned Don Crickey.
It was a big, big deal. I just love that
that theme song, And why would they choose those, you know,
electronically produced graphics versus one of the most visual visual
(35:04):
things in all of sports, Pro basketball. It's beyond me.
That's white to play with, thy guess, but it was
a it was a big deal. So NBA starts tonight.
Let's get to the Waddling Dog poll question. Experience one
of Victoria's iconic destinations, Waddling Dog sleep Sip stock up
on one legendary spot comes sit and stay at the
dog Today.
Speaker 4 (35:24):
Rick Ryan, get her up the Waddling Dog poll question.
Is it essential for the Canucks to make a significant
trade given their injury situation? Yes forty four percent. No
is surprisingly leading here at fifty six two hundred and
seventy six votes. We posted a very late today. There
was a lot of stuff going on, and but Donny,
(35:46):
three of your four centers for the Vancouver Canucks tonight
in an NHL game are from Absburg. It is essential, Okay, people,
we don't know when Blueger is back. We definitely don't
know when heedles back. They got to do something.
Speaker 1 (36:01):
Well, that's easier said that. What are they going to
give up for a significant center, somebody that can that
can help them. Yeah, I'll tell you something else. Didn't
they cut Coo. You know they're gonna have to give up. Sorry,
they're gonna have to give up prospects or draft picks.
They're not in a position to do that. I don't
think it is.
Speaker 4 (36:17):
You know, I had someone tell me they cut Coots
a week too early. Can you imagine Kots was still here,
Donnie would have helped. Like, I hate to say it, but.
Speaker 1 (36:24):
I wrap that. It's easy to say. Now, you're just saying,
but they're not in a position of strength. So you
think kotsidn't say I'm saying. I'm just saying that Coots
would have been one of the guys. Here's what happened.
Any you know this management group, like they how long
do we talk? Did they talk about getting a center
all summer? So now they're in this desperate situation. You
(36:47):
think teams aren't going to try to pick them clean?
Speaker 4 (36:49):
Right now the teams are laughing at them because every
team knows they're desperate, and well, they're desperate before.
Speaker 1 (36:55):
What about now?
Speaker 4 (36:56):
If you couldn't even get Marco Rossi out of Minnesota,
what are you going to do now? Well, they signed it,
I understand that, but they tried to get here an
offer for him. So what I'm trying to say to
you is there is Vancouver has no position of strength.
Every team knows they're desperate. It's a real bad situation
to be in.
Speaker 1 (37:12):
And no one's throwing you a life jacket or a lifeboat.
Don there's no or a life anyway. Tough to throw
a life boat. Okay, you know what I'm talking about.
Speaker 4 (37:21):
Anyways, no one's throwing you any help and you're in
the middle of the ocean looking for help.
Speaker 1 (37:25):
Yeah, they also had a center here. They didn't resent.
Speaker 4 (37:28):
Pa suitor after good start in Saint Louis pea suitor
and they didn't even make him an offer. It's a
horrible nothing near what he got in Saint Louis. You know,
just for some reason, they just didn't like him, and
they went and gave that what's his name career a
Elia Donnie, I know, twenty five goals, and they went
after what's his name a Deborak in Philadelphia. They offered
(37:50):
him three times four. You couldn't that offer was never
on the tip.
Speaker 1 (37:53):
They're an obvious answer here though, what he's not a center,
but Gavin McKenna.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
Either four and two the whole Yes, that you just
b you're bragging about the road trip.
Speaker 6 (38:03):
To three and oh four and two or one man?
Can you tweeted last weekend? Did you not tweet the
parade route for this team?
Speaker 1 (38:10):
Yeah? I mean come on, yeah, sometimes you have fun
just throwing a name out there, get you guys going.
Just stop. They've won three straight. Give them credit.
Speaker 4 (38:19):
The Washington game, the nine nine three, the shots Vancouver
Washington in the first part at the ten minute mark.
Speaker 1 (38:24):
Whatever, John, what do you mean? Whatever? Okay, so you
have to give them? How do you not give them?
I'm just having some fun. I'm throwing It's the same
thing with bugging him about his love for the Blue Jays.
It's okay to have fun, it's sports. They're putting a
puck in the net. Okay, okay, let's let's throw. You
guys are so high and mighty because the Caducks are
four and two and they've won three straight, yes, six,
(38:49):
you're you more excited about that than you would be
if they won the lottery and got Gavin McKenna.
Speaker 6 (38:55):
No, because as close as I brought you, brought up
to you a million times, I would never be involved
than that, because even if the Canucks had the best
odds the.
Speaker 1 (39:03):
My stuff, They're never gonna win it. So I'm never
gonna be excited for it because I'm never gonna win it.
Speaker 4 (39:07):
Be like the Sabers with yes, yes, if they got
Gavin McKenna did have to be a horrible Hockey Cup
club thirty second in the league, Gavin McKenna would come
and play with horrible.
Speaker 1 (39:17):
But what did the Islanders did? Jumped up ten spots again,
that was good.
Speaker 6 (39:22):
Do you know the team you're talking about, They've only
fallen in the draft lottery, like literally, they've only fought.
Speaker 1 (39:30):
Like the powers that be are aware of my age
and one of these days things will will fall into
place for the Vancouver Canucks four and two. They're three
and zero on the trip.
Speaker 6 (39:39):
Like like look at like think about like look at
the Sharks.
Speaker 1 (39:42):
The Sharks have not won a game.
Speaker 6 (39:44):
Their head coach joked on the weekend he would give
up one of his children for a win like the
Connundery track, which is so stupid by the way that
he did. If you missed it, head coach of the Sharks,
he made a joke and then he had to issue an.
Speaker 1 (39:57):
Apology, which was so stupid. People just take you seriously, Yeah,
they do, including what I just if you got kids.
But having having said, I was just poking the bear
a bit there. Yeah, well but like these people, oh
my god, they're four. You can't talk like that. It
would be great if they got Gavin McKenna, Like, I'm sorry,
though you just said he's not a center. They were
(40:19):
only five. I think they could build around him. Well,
I don't know if they were on five, I'm I'm
in on the Gavin McKenna. But they're not. Come on,
So this means they're they're making the playoffs, no question
about it. It's very early. Well apparently it's not.
Speaker 4 (40:36):
If they don't fix the center ice position.
Speaker 1 (40:37):
Well, I don't know where you're going, but anyway, so
three and aero on the road trip, four and two overall,
but as they go negative again, good job. We're never
gonna get a connect guest ever ever never in Pittsburgh
tonight in Nashville Thursday. And we've heard a lot about
this coup pressed schedule. Wow, and Pittsburgh tonight, Nashville Thursday.
(41:01):
They come back. They host Montreal Saturday Edmonton Sunday. The
rare home back to back brick donny, it's the Olympics, though,
I understand that, but I don't like home playoff, no
home games back to back nights. I don't think that's fair. Well,
because they played the Montreal game at four, which is
really squoozing for Sunday. Because now, okay, then it's actually
(41:23):
better for Sunday. Listen to me.
Speaker 4 (41:25):
Seven and seven's more rest just never mind, okay, just
listen to me.
Speaker 1 (41:29):
I don't like game Sunday. It's four seven. Oh, it's
a seven. I was thinking four to four fourth days. Listen.
I don't like I don't like home games back to
back nights. I don't like it. I don't like, you know,
what I don't like. I don't like the seven o'clock
home game on a Sunday. I hate it. I'd rather
the other way. Yes, Sunday night, Sunday night, I don't
(41:50):
want to do anything.
Speaker 6 (41:51):
It should be plus kids, your kids going to a
game and got school on Monday.
Speaker 1 (41:55):
Maybe what I love is that now you have a kid.
Everything is through that dude. Everything. When I said the
you know, the whole meat of the matter of young kids,
you would say kids, that's no excuse. Now now you
use kids. You know one kid has an excuse all
the time. Everything is through the lens of a child.
Now everything okay, So just just to recap, you make
(42:18):
a good point about the four o'clock start being better
than the seven o'clock But then, but then get this.
Put this in your pipe. They play the Rangers on Tuesday, J. T.
Miller and the Rangers in town. You're excited, I can
I can tell. And then Thursday in Saint Louis to
start a three game road trip. This is this compressed
schedule that Adam Foot has gone on a lot about
(42:41):
so with all these injuries. But again, if they look listen,
if they come through after this, forget Gavin mccow'll stop
all that talk. I just don't get why.
Speaker 6 (42:52):
Like we talked about this, guys, the Canucks had five
days off between the end of the preseason and the
start of the season. They hit like two weeks before
between Milford and the preseason startings, had that too.
Speaker 1 (43:04):
It wasn't just fain No. I know, I know, and
it's so I look because I know this season starts
starting next season earlier, but why.
Speaker 6 (43:09):
Not, Like, I don't get it, you're still so dead
set on this mid November or October start, even in
a compressed year.
Speaker 1 (43:17):
Here's what I like.
Speaker 4 (43:18):
When he brought up in cans No Lincoln tonight, you
know you're not overplaying Demko. This is a really good sign.
You know, back when the Canucks were paid, but they're
paying exactly when they were paying nine hundred grand for backups,
they had no trust in their backup. Now they have
trust in Lincoln and Demko gets the rest. And the
way Dempko's going, there's a very good possibility he's going
(43:40):
to the Olympics. So this is good. That's a really
good positive. Lincoln is getting the start tonight, giving the
other guy the rest he needs.
Speaker 1 (43:46):
I'm not so sure. It's a positive that Dempco's playing
well and he might go to the Olympics. Well, you know,
right absolutely, Oh injury, there you go. Well, Milan's not closed,
plus all these ice issues. Thank you for the geography.
Lesson right right right, yeah, okay, Craig Button is at
(44:07):
the top of the hour. Hold on, we got business.
I'm all confused here. We're way over time. Yeah, let's
save it. Let's save able auctions stuff that we want
to disrespect them. But we'll save that read for a
little bit later. Craig Button, top of the hour, big rise, Next,
Donnie Delly the teal in check. Craig at the top
(44:29):
of the hour, a little behind right now, let's get
right to big Rye Twitter guy. Yeah.
Speaker 6 (44:33):
A couple of jersey unveils today, one locally, one not
so much. We'll save the local one for later. The
PWHL Vancouver squad released their jersey for later, but this
one I know is close to your heart, the Colorader Avalanche.
And that's a third jersey today, and they did it
with a legend, local legend friend of yours. I think
(44:54):
you're part of the West North. Joe Sakic. Look at
this video from the Colorader Avalanche. So the Abs anouncing
their third jersey. It's going to be the Nordeaks blue jersey.
For those of you on the podcast the throwback, there's
Joe there putting the jersey on and then it morphs
into current captain Gabe Landeskog wearing said jersey. Boom right there.
So there you go.
Speaker 1 (45:13):
That's going to be the the third jersey for the
ASP Thursday versus Carolina, and Carolina will be wearing the
Hartford Whalers jersey. So what is that? It's not just
an NHL match up, an old NHL matchup, it's a
but it's an old wh match Okay, although were the Whalers,
(45:35):
you know what? My members not serving me well right
right now. I believe the Whalers were the New England
Whalers for the time that they were in in the WHA.
I'm curious how people in Quebec feel when these are
on all. We've had a couple of submissions in the
Bayside inbox saying it's it's an insult, right like I
(45:57):
stole the team from French.
Speaker 6 (45:58):
Right now, Memphis right over the last few seasons have
been wearing the Vancouver grizzly look and people here.
Speaker 1 (46:06):
Maybe I'm speaking for too many. I find it cool
to see them that they use Vancouver. That's what I mean.
Speaker 6 (46:13):
They don't alter it. It's legit, it's not it's it's
it's the real deal. So I'm okay with it. But
I don't know people in Quebec maybe not so much.
I'm not sure.
Speaker 1 (46:22):
The bottom line is their beautiful uniform. I think it's
a little bit different. I think because there's way more
of a big Well, first of all, culturally, hockey in
French Canada is I'm sorry, I'm gonna upset some people
won't there, but culturally bigger in Quebec than basketball is
in Vancouver. Oh yeah, of course, yes, you know, so
(46:43):
does that. And then I think there's also how big
of a push is there to get the NBA back
of Vancouver. I'd love to see it, Yeah, I don't think.
I don't think it compares to how much people would
want an NHL game back in Quebec city. NBA is
now billionaires, it's not millionaires anymore. I just don't think
it was hockey economy.
Speaker 4 (47:01):
The economy has got to be there, the business has
got to fork over the sweets, all this the payroll.
Speaker 1 (47:06):
It's really hard. But does a team in Winnipeg that's
big time owners these uniforms.
Speaker 4 (47:11):
Donny little Ricky went to the coliseum in the eighties.
Remember of these uniforms. They were so nice. Peter Easter,
Peter Stash and his and his brothers. Anton was Peter Marion,
Marion Marion Anton and Peter Dale Hunter Dale hunter Well Forsburg, Forsburg, Forsburg. Yeah,
and remember Lindross cost.
Speaker 1 (47:32):
Is better known as a well they flipped over. Didn
just put it on. No, no, he never put it off.
No got up, Oh wow, he told them. And then
Russ far Wall cut the deal again.
Speaker 6 (47:44):
Phill right, yeah, yeah, uh you mentioned it, Donnie, that
the Hurricanes Thursday, so they'll have the heart for the
way there's look. Uh, I've got a tweet though, because
our good power. Well I will say this, our good power.
Jeff Patterson pointed out that the Aves announced their jersey
schedule involving this look and look at this April Vancouver
(48:06):
in Colorado. It's not gonna be in Vancouver in Colorado.
When the Canucks visit Colorado, they will have on their
Nordeeks jersey the ABU.
Speaker 4 (48:15):
Yeah, and Michelle, he was so good. Cannucs you wear
their v's that night, would be nice.
Speaker 1 (48:22):
I wish I say this a lot.
Speaker 6 (48:23):
I wish the NHL wasn't so stringent with jerseys to me,
to me, where any look from any era.
Speaker 1 (48:30):
Screw it.
Speaker 6 (48:31):
It just makes money all it doesn't makes money because
you see people. If you go to Rogers Arena, you
see all of the jerseys. You see black skate, white skate.
You'll see the whale from the early two thousands, like
you see, everybody's got their favorite look. You see more
most skate than anything else, either white or black.
Speaker 1 (48:48):
I'm sorry, but the red, blue and silver whale. Yeah,
but there's people now.
Speaker 6 (48:52):
But there's people now that wear it because it's kitchy almost,
or if they were, it's from.
Speaker 1 (48:57):
The back, right, right right, I went, what would be wrong? Okay, sorry,
but I think this is to your point. What would
be wrong with the Canucks wearing the flying skate at
Rogers Arena versus the Nordiaks in they're light blue? Yes,
I think I could tell the two teams apart easily.
Like the NBA.
Speaker 6 (49:13):
The NBA has made that change that you can have
two colored jerseys against each other. You don't have to
have a white and I think in twenty twenty five,
and let's be honest, I mean I don't know, but
if you ask somebody at the Team store, I guarantee
the white versions of jerseys probably sell the least and
the colored versions sell the most.
Speaker 1 (49:30):
So why are we still.
Speaker 6 (49:31):
Forcing that in or if you can at least come
to a compromise. I love what the WHL and the
AHL do at Christmas.
Speaker 1 (49:37):
You flip. I like that. I like that a lot,
so you see both looks at home throughout the year.
I like that. As I mentioned, we'll get to more
jersey talk later on in the show with the p WHL.
But we hope, we hope, we hope. Our good pal though,
is Craig Button. He's up next from TSN. It's Donnie
Dolly the Team I check. Hey everyone, it's Donnie Duney
(49:58):
and we're looking to partner with company.
Speaker 4 (50:00):
We have several packages and price points to fit your
budget and spread the word about your company on the show,
in our podcast, and on social media.
Speaker 1 (50:09):
We'd love to get involved with your company called two
five oh eight, eight oh twenty two eighty two or
email advertised at Checkmedia dot CA Tuesday and Oliver Gast
including Craig Button standing by and brought to you by
Able Auctions, Ableauctions dot C A no shortage of people
(50:34):
mentioning players and this is in our Bayside Oceanfront Resort
inbox mentioning players who played for the Canucks. Both the
Canucks and the Nordeaks. Garth Butcher, oh Michel Petite, Matt Sendean,
Richard Berdure played for both. Matt Sendeen was drafted first
overall by the Nordeaks but to Toronto and infamously ended
(50:56):
up his career with the a very short career with Vancouver.
Speaker 4 (50:59):
But he it's it's an accurate statement, right I read
his first He talks about it in his book.
Speaker 1 (51:04):
There you go. Yeah, it must be true. I'm sure
Craig remembers all of this. Sam Scotty director Craig Button
joins us, Now, thanks for this, Craig. How are you.
Speaker 3 (51:16):
I'm good.
Speaker 8 (51:16):
I'm shaking my head at Ryan though, like oh yeah,
like like you have to write at this point in time,
like you know, my good friend Steve Dryden, you know,
Steve Steen, says hockey didn't begin.
Speaker 3 (51:28):
When you were born. So ry there you go up
to you to know your history.
Speaker 1 (51:32):
Thank you.
Speaker 6 (51:33):
I know, I know the Sedan Sundeen thing. I just
it's just like it's like Joe Joe Montana with the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (51:40):
I think Craig has you rattled right well, he does
do like this. Thanks for this, good Jo, appreciate it.
Hey Jeff Brown, Jeff Brown, Jeff Brown's very good. I
forgot very good, Craigs. Yeah, and the Saint Louis was
at Hartford. Wow, we could go on about Jeff Brown.
Speaker 3 (51:57):
Did you mention John Garrett?
Speaker 1 (51:59):
Oh my god. And of course he was with Hartford
at the time, assisting on Gardi House last goal. But
he also was in Nordean had a great mass there.
Speaker 3 (52:08):
He did.
Speaker 8 (52:09):
And he also he ever heard the story when he
had the hot dog in between the pats and he
had to go into the net.
Speaker 3 (52:15):
He was just hoping the hot dog wouldn't fall out.
Speaker 1 (52:17):
Where you going with this story here, Craig.
Speaker 3 (52:20):
So he was on the bench and he got a
hot dog.
Speaker 8 (52:23):
And so the game that the coach said, I forgot
who the coach was says, yeah, Garrett, get in the net.
So he took the hot dog and he put it
between his leg and his pad, and he stated to
the net and he didn't know what to do with
the hot dog, so I was just.
Speaker 3 (52:35):
Hoping it didn't fall out as he was playing.
Speaker 8 (52:36):
You got to hear John tells the story like nobody
like this an unbelievable, great story.
Speaker 1 (52:42):
Well, we've been meaning to get John on the show soon,
and he was a regular with us during the Knack's
last playoff Drive. I haven't heard that story before. We'll
get him to tell it. Yeah, Yeah, that's fabulous, Hey, John.
One of John's other old teams, the Cannucks four and two,
three on zero on this road trip, all sorts of
injury problems, but a lot of positivity surrounding this team.
(53:03):
Are you seeing anything different under Adam Foot?
Speaker 8 (53:06):
Well, I think that a couple of things, you know,
not easy. They fall behind two nothing in Dallas and
it looks like this thing might get a little bit
topsy turvy, and then they get right after it and
they find a way to win that game.
Speaker 3 (53:20):
Obviously, you know.
Speaker 8 (53:22):
They they beat Chicago and in the shootout, and then
they lose heatle in the first period of the game
against Washington and Washington and Dallas are good teams. And
I think to go on the road and and not
only find a way to win, but to push and
to be able to settle into a game that's not easy,
(53:43):
and and to feel comfortable in a game that's not easy,
and to emerge knowing the price you have to pay
to win it. I think that's all positive for the
Vancouver Connects. And I think if you're Adam Footing the
coaching staff, you have to look at this little stretch
here as something that's really good.
Speaker 3 (53:59):
You know, it didn't look good, you.
Speaker 8 (54:00):
Know, after the after the opener against against Calgary, but
you find your footing and you get back the things competing,
playing hard and doing things that might be a little
bit uncomfortable but are necessary to win. And that's Adam
footz winner and Rick Talkin's a winner. And I think
that getting your group to understand that and to embrace
(54:22):
it is really positive for the Vancouver Canucks. And you know,
you see somebody like Max Sassin coming up and playing
so well, scoring a couple of goals, you know, you
get sent down, you're disappointed.
Speaker 3 (54:34):
Oh boo opportunity.
Speaker 8 (54:35):
Well, I'm gonna make it hard for you to send
me back down, and I think that that's what you want.
I'll finish with this. Good teams don't cap size when
you get an injury or two or three, and the
Winnipeg Jets are a good example of that.
Speaker 3 (54:48):
This is good signs for the Vancouver Canucks.
Speaker 1 (54:51):
Hey, Craig, you mentioned Philip Heatly. He's back in Vancouver.
Now we are speculating that he suffered yet yet another concussion.
He gets hit by a Tom Wilson. What's the line here, Craig,
between avoiding a player like like being aware of a
player like Tom Wilson and avoiding him and still being
(55:11):
an effective aggressive player.
Speaker 8 (55:14):
Yeah, I think that, Like, you know, we saw what
ended up happening, and I think they were right. I
don't think it was a penalty. It was a heavy,
hard hit by Tom Wilson. And you know, for for
Philip Heedo, who's who's had this history, I think there's
two things that you have to be really really cognizant,
and I think this goes for any player.
Speaker 3 (55:36):
Number One, you have to know like who.
Speaker 8 (55:39):
You're playing against, and when Tommy Wilson's out on the ice,
you have to know that he's out on the ice.
Speaker 3 (55:44):
That's the number one thing you have to know.
Speaker 8 (55:46):
Number two is is that when you're moving through the
middle of the ice, you have to be ultra aware
and understand that you are now eligible to be hit,
and you're also vulnerable if you don't understand as you're
moving into that somebody's coming towards you. If I go
back to think about when fighting was a much more
prevalent part of the game, and how many times have
(56:08):
we heard the players are okay, they say, okay, watch
out for this guy.
Speaker 3 (56:13):
He throws a left. Okay, watch out for this guy.
He'll tug on you and try to pull you down.
Speaker 8 (56:17):
Right, I think the same thing has to happen when
you're playing against the players that are rugged and are
are good to deliver hard hits. I think you have
to have that same type of ability. The other thing
that I will say, and I see a lot of
junior games, and I know that hitting isn't as much
as it once was in the game, but you get
(56:39):
at the lower levels and you're not accustomed to this.
And I'm saying this is a general thing, not just
not just as it gains to fill up.
Speaker 3 (56:46):
But you know, you've got to.
Speaker 8 (56:48):
Understand that it's not as safe as you might have
thought it was. And I don't mean that it's dangerous,
but you're vulnerable. So you've got to be really aware.
And I think that applies to all players.
Speaker 4 (57:00):
Great, can you put your GM's hat on? This is
possibly the seventh or eighth concussion for Heatl. Is there
going to have to be a talk with him about
you know, hey, we've heard that phrase. We're athletes. I
want to play with my grandkids. I you know, I
think he had four or five in New York. He's
had a couple in Vancouver. Now, like, what would you
(57:21):
say to him as a general manager.
Speaker 8 (57:25):
I'll be straightforward with it, Rick, and I'm not going
to duck it, and I'll give you a little bit
of background on on on why I take this position.
But to me, it's it's time to have the hard
conversation with Philip. Heato that he that he may have
to retire and he may have to think about another profession,
and that that's a hard conversation to have. I was
in Calgary when Brad Wrinka and uh and he had
(57:49):
his career and it was not when he had his
last shift. It was the cumulative effect of the previous concussions.
It was a it was a really actually a really
innocent time play. Brad was spinning off a hit, his
head hit the glass. It was the last time he
played in the NHL. He was eighteen months where literally
he was in a dark place, like his wife couldn't
(58:11):
leave him alone with the kids.
Speaker 3 (58:13):
She had to bring in a babysitter.
Speaker 8 (58:14):
The great story is is that Brad got to the
right side of it and he ended up going to
law school. He's a practicing lawyer now in Calgary. And
that's a great thing, the second one of it. And
it doesn't have nearly as nice an ending as Steve
Monitor and we signed Stevie in Calgary.
Speaker 3 (58:33):
I love Stevie.
Speaker 8 (58:34):
I talked to Stevie two days before he passed away,
and you know, he was somebody that was always trying
to find to get on the right side of it.
Speaker 3 (58:41):
He was never able to do that.
Speaker 8 (58:43):
And that's why, like for me and then this is me,
I would be sitting down with Filipedo and his representative
as his family and saying you have to think about
this because the next one could be the one that's devastating.
Speaker 4 (58:56):
Well, keep your GM hat On because as what do
the Canucks do They have Peterson with three absper centers tonight, Craig,
they go out on the trade market. It's not a
position of strength. Every team in this league knows they're
desperate for centers, like the prices are high. No one's
giving them a second line center, no way, Like, so
how do they get through this trying to find another center?
Speaker 1 (59:20):
It's going to be tough.
Speaker 8 (59:22):
Jim Runferd has a lot of friends in the league,
and there's somebody willing to help them out. You're underestimating,
You're underestimating the persuasion and the charm of Jim Rutherford.
I don't think that that's fair. You're right, it's hard
and and and like you might not be able to
(59:42):
find that guy that fits exactly. But I think for
the Vancouver Canucks, they have to find somebody that can
get into that center ized position. They can, they can function.
That might just be a third line center because you
want to try to ease the burden on some of
your younger guys.
Speaker 3 (59:57):
You want to ease the burden on EP forty.
Speaker 8 (01:00:00):
So I think that you're right, it's too hard, it's
really difficult and I'm not one to say, oh, like, oh,
it's hard while you.
Speaker 3 (01:00:08):
Don't go get it.
Speaker 8 (01:00:09):
It's a difficult position that the Canucks find themselves in.
But I think he got to go and find a center,
and you got to find somebody that can fill that
role and play that in a really good, solid way.
And that might be twenty five points, but it might
be fifteen minutes a game, but that will help you
as you continue to try to explore where there's other
(01:00:30):
opportunities to go. Good news for the Canucks is that
they got some They got some good young players in
the system, and when they drafted Brandon Koots last year,
you look at it. Rat Wu has taken some good steps.
We talked about Max Sassin. You're right, but you've got
to get somebody that's a regular NHL player, And you're
not going to find that second line guy easy, but
(01:00:52):
you can find as you got to find a center
to come in and bolster the lineup, so to speak.
Speaker 1 (01:00:57):
The answer to this question Craig quickly. But it might
be that they're not that good. But the Rangers lose
again last night at home to the Wild, So how
do you explain their start at home? Four games? At
MSG zero wins one goal.
Speaker 3 (01:01:15):
Well, you know, watching I love Mike Sullivan. I think
he's a hell of a coach.
Speaker 8 (01:01:19):
I thought that the Rangers were capable of a little
bit more. They got a great goaltender and they have
some skill up front. I think overall they're a slow team.
I think they're committed more to playing defense and they've
done a really good job of it and not giving
and not being vulnerable, and that's about work and effort.
But they're not a highly skilled team and they're not
(01:01:42):
a fast team. And I think when you put those
two things together, it becomes really hard with the way
the game is played and at the pace the game
is played, so you almost have to be kind of
sitting back saying walkay, we're going to commit the defense,
knowing that are we're not capable of pushing the pay
and pushing me at back. I think that's where the
Rangers find themselves until they get more speed in the lineup.
(01:02:05):
I don't think there's a way out for them on
I misread them. I misread the team. I thought they
were capable of being a lot better. I think they've
gotten better defensively, but I think the struggles offensively are
going to continue unless they get speeded lineup. Let me
add one thing to that. The Pittsburgh Penguins in twenty
fifteen were in a similar spot. Now they had Crosby
(01:02:27):
and malcol La Tank. Don't get me wrong here, but
they changed coaches. Mike Sullivan came in and that's when
a bunch of those young guys came up from the
miners and they injected speed in the lineup. They won
back to back Cups. That was a real big part
of the Penguins success. I think that Mike Sullivan can
look and go. We need some of that.
Speaker 1 (01:02:47):
JT. Miller and the Rangers in Vancouver on Tuesday. Craig,
thanks for this. Appreciate it.
Speaker 8 (01:02:52):
Go Nerdicks, Yeah, thank you, Yeah, yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:02:56):
Thanks Craig. Craig, button Ts and Scotting Rictord. We didn't
talk about the chase. Should also mention that Florida is
at Boston tonight. Remember the Panthers were in Boston after
the Brad Marshawn trade, but he was injured and didn't
play in that game. So it's the return of Brad
Marshawn to Boston. Obviously a special occasion, big event in
Massachusetts tonight. Okay, break and we'll deal with the poll

question and other matters. Next. Donnie telling the team on.

Cannucks in Pittsburgh Tonight's four o'clock puck drop poll question
Waddling dog Pole question experience one of Victoria's iconic destinations,
sleep sip, stock up all on one legendary spot, Come
sit and stay at the dog Today we'll show the
lineup again for the Canucks tonight. Needless to say, the
organization is injury riddled right now, which leads to our
(01:04:38):
poll question.
Speaker 4 (01:04:39):
Absolutely Ryan and get her up the waddling dog pole question.
Speaker 1 (01:04:41):
You nailed it. Injuries galore.
Speaker 4 (01:04:43):
Is it essential for the Canucks to make a significant
trade given their injury situation? Look at this, Oh my goodness,
almost fifty to fifty, well, fifty to fifty one. You
have fifty percent saying yes, fifty one percent saying no,
six one percent. Yeah, well that's what that's that's what
we ca out here. But no, it's forty nine story
and fifty one. Listen, don't get me going on. I'm
(01:05:07):
rattled with all these injuries because my head's going, it's
going time trying to figure out who's where, what when?
Speaker 1 (01:05:12):
Whear why you couldn't work at Tim Horton's. Don't get
how they round up and round down? How they put
sugar in your coffee when you ask the sugar. You
had a lot of problems today. There was a bathroom.
Speaker 4 (01:05:21):
I asked for a decaf with two cream and no sugar.
I get here, give you your coffee, and they're sugar
in it.
Speaker 1 (01:05:28):
What am I supposed to do in yours? Sugar in mine?
I asked for no sugar? What's going on? And then
you had a you're locked out of the bathroom here
as well.
Speaker 4 (01:05:38):
I was locked out of the bathroom as well. I've
had a horrible morning, but the sugar pisses me off.
Speaker 6 (01:05:43):
You being locked out of the bathroom should be telling
you something. By way, people don't want you in that.
Speaker 1 (01:05:49):
No, that's that's a show for another year, Donnie said.
One minute left. I thought I'd run and the door
was locked. I couldn't open I banged on it and
then nobody. Oh good.
Speaker 4 (01:05:56):
Anyways, it didn't work. Did if I asked for no sugar? Please,
no sugar.
Speaker 1 (01:06:02):
These people they're doing a million minimum wage. Stop stop.
Speaker 4 (01:06:07):
If I ask for no sugar in my coffee, I
don't expect sugar in my coffee.
Speaker 1 (01:06:11):
I'll talk to Burton Cummings about no sugar tonight. I
guess who song A bit of a stretch there worked
good segue. I don't know. I'm not segueing to anything.
It was just a bad joy. It was a good segue. Sugar.
A lineup, line up. Dan Murphy has bamed out the
(01:06:31):
lines for tonight's game with Pittsburgh. Archer's Sea Lovs in Gold,
the former Canuck. For Pittsburgh, it'll be Kevin lancoln And
for the Caducks. What do you got? Rick? Okay?
Speaker 4 (01:06:40):
We have Debruss, Peterson and Garland up front, and look
at the second line. These guys played well in Washington,
and you know what, here's the coach saying, hey, guys,
go out and get it. The Atmosford line, Yeah, the
Atmosphord line bans to Son and Carlson. Then you got
a rat tou or no Caine, Ratu and Sherwood. That
rat is throwing you. You know what, Dan, what's he doing? O'Connor?
(01:07:02):
Amon and the bait on fourth line, No Besser, no Blueger, Hughes,
Heronic Patterson, Myers, Patterson, Joseph, Joseph's back, he was injured. Well,
Lander's your extra defenceman tonight for Vancouver. Sorry for Absford.
Speaker 1 (01:07:18):
Yep, Okay, So all sorts of injuries for the Vancouver Canucks,
but let's focus. Let's build on what Craig Button had
to say. If you missed it in a previous segment,
Craig Button said, it might be time and I don't
know if he has what information he has, but we
all know about Philip Heatle's concussion history. At least four
concussions with the New York Rangers, two that we know
(01:07:41):
of with the Vancouver Canucks. And I always say this
that doesn't take into consideration the hockey before he turned pro,
right like junior hockey, minor, whatever the case may be.
He clearly this is a player with concussion issues. And
Craig Button said on our show moments ago that maybe
it's time for a conversation with Philip Heel about his career.
Speaker 4 (01:08:03):
And you know he's talking to his agents every day,
and maybe that conversation's taking place with the agents. And
he's got two powerful agents, Donny and JP Berry and Papperson.
But here's one for you, don We just went through
this in Vancouver, Michael Ferland. Michael Ferland was brought here
to be that guy that you scored fifteen to twenty
goals but defended his teammates, and Ferland ran into again
(01:08:27):
concussion issues.
Speaker 1 (01:08:28):
He had to call it a career.
Speaker 4 (01:08:29):
We saw this seven eight years ago with Ferland. It's
really disheartening. But I think that you know, for a fact,
on he probably saw a doctor yesterday. Got to be
worried about headaches, nausea equilibrium issues, Donny. So if he
had those issues yesterday, those symptoms, then the Canucks have
to be super concerned.
Speaker 1 (01:08:50):
Yeah, and maybe not career, but maybe an issue for
the season.
Speaker 4 (01:08:55):
Well, so that gets into this. The Canucks have not
asked for a full year long term injured reserved for Heatl.
Yet the keyword there is yet to use his full
salary if needed. The Canucks must declare Heatl out for
the season in the playoffs. If they don't declare him out,
they can only use last year's AAV to replace him,
which is under formula.
Speaker 1 (01:09:15):
And you know this is irrelevant, but all the best
to him. And again we don't have information regarding his season,
his career, and this is a I love watching that
guy play. People know compared his debut to Bret's debut.
I think he drives play and all the best to him.
Speaker 4 (01:09:37):
I think he's got to sit down and think about
his future, just like Ferland did. And Ferland had a
talk with it. He had young kids, he had a wife,
You talk to your agent, you go over everything, but maybe, hey,
you want to be healthy in your fifty sixty seventies
done And he's had six seven concussions and this is
another one. So it's a very tough time for him.
Speaker 1 (01:09:57):
Okay, tough turn, we'll take it here. GTMZ is coming

Speaker 4 (01:12:46):
I don't like the bronze. I don't think bronze works
with hockey, but I love the blue. Is there no
name attached?
Speaker 1 (01:12:56):
All w p w HL teams did that the first
year Icy right now. The same with Seattle. I love
the blue.
Speaker 4 (01:13:02):
I don't think the blare the bronze works with it.
But that's you're the uniform guy. You're more Europeion.
Speaker 1 (01:13:10):
I'm with you. Love the blue. Love the cream, the
old fashioned cream color the teams used way back in
the day and made a big comeback the last ten years.
But I see the bronze, I automatically think of one
of the biggest missteps in NHL uniform history. Edmonton Oiters
in the in the two thousands when they went with
navy blue red copper bronze, it was it was a
(01:13:34):
copper bronze. It was terrible. This is the same the
Washington Capitals use it in their black uniforms as well
back in the day and in there when they went
to the steel blue Eagle uniforms. I've never I just
I don't know, I just never thought it was a
great a great look. So I like the blue. I
don't know what they're going to do when they go
(01:13:55):
with their full time jerseys. Will this be their colors?
I'm not so sure, but I'm not I'm not a
fan of the bronze. Yeah, I just in hockey. I
don't know if you have those old oiler jerseys, Bunny
Chance Ryan, so people know what I'm talking about. Yeah,
so we'll see what happens. I will say this, and
the shadow ones are green? Are you talking like this
one that's that? Yeah? Yeah, they've got that copper color
(01:14:17):
Smith era. Yeah. Yeah, what you've got fabulous Gretzky era
jerseys which they've gone back to now after a million
different combinations that didn't work and this was the worst
of them all. They're awful. Well, plus, bronze doesn't look
good on TV. Who wants to shoot for bronze? There
(01:14:37):
you go? Don't you want to shoot for gold? Yeah,
that's the top copper. But yeah, so, but I will
say this, the other shaddles are nice. I don't know if
you have a shot of those there you go, but
it's green and light blue. I don't mind that. But
the other p WHL uniforms are stunning. They're beautiful. Toronto's
(01:15:00):
uniform Look, I'm giving Toronto some love here. Their uniforms.
P w h L uniforms are outstandings standing, Ottawa, Boston,
They're all different. They're really looking. Look great, look at those.
They're just absolutely beautiful. So we'll see what happens. This
isn't the final product, so we'll we'll see what happens. Yeah,
let's see how they We agree on that, Yeah we do. Yeah,
(01:15:23):
for once, none of these uniforms, in your opinion, compared
to the Blue Jays jersey you have on Blue Jay's blue.
Speaker 4 (01:15:31):
Oh, is the one very similar to Dodger blue Well,
and there raw and their road uniforms in Seattle oh.
Speaker 1 (01:15:38):
Looks so good. Okay, what do you got birthdays? We
got five?
Speaker 4 (01:15:43):
I wish we got five because one of our great
listeners added I one that I missed, so I I so.
Speaker 6 (01:15:50):
Now you're getting help from people to stop it. I
used it, but I've added it. Here we go.
Speaker 4 (01:15:58):
Five birthdays brought to you by Ricky the'se PI Services
in No Frills Casino in Rollo, Saskatchewan. Artwork supplied by
Mario and Richmond. All Right, here we go. This center
was the eighth overall pick in the two thousand and
eight NHL Draft by Atlanta.
Speaker 1 (01:16:14):
In July.
Speaker 4 (01:16:15):
On July first, twenty seventeen, this free agent signed with
the Canucks a one year deal nine hundred thousand, eighth overall,
eighth overall Atlanta.
Speaker 1 (01:16:25):
This is the one you got from the NO. I've
had this one.
Speaker 4 (01:16:29):
Uh twenty four games in Vancouver he played, and after
that his career was over. He had to go to Russia,
so he's Russian. He played for the NO. He played
for the Shanghai Dragons last year.
Speaker 1 (01:16:42):
No give it to Me. Had a car deal with
Basant Mortars. Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on,
hold on, hold on.
Speaker 4 (01:16:47):
Oh, hod I not getting this Alexanderstromstrop, Burmeistrop, come on, man,
be better.
Speaker 1 (01:16:55):
He picked it up, Burmistrop, come on, all right, this defenseman.
Speaker 4 (01:17:00):
It was a key member of the Maple Leafs teams
that won three Stanley Cups from nineteen sixty one to
sixty four. He never made the NHL Hockey Hall of Fame,
but he made the Finnish Hockey Hall of Fame in Finland.
Speaker 1 (01:17:15):
Okay, in South Korea. I just stop.
Speaker 4 (01:17:19):
He played a major role in the investigation that led
to conviction and prisoner Carl Brewer.
Speaker 1 (01:17:24):
Carl Brewer, you got it.
Speaker 4 (01:17:27):
Why would he be in the finish because he went
over there to play and they coached and he played
and they loved him. But he's the guy that brought
Alan Eagleson down and got millions out of the pension
fund for NHL players and they are still benefiting today
because of Carl Brewer.
Speaker 1 (01:17:45):
Carl Borough and Ted Lindsay and Ted that was pres
absolutely all right. This TV star.
Speaker 4 (01:17:52):
In twenty fifteen was named one of the Time magazines
one under most Influential People. She was named among Fortune
magazines was Powerful Women. In twenty twenty three, Paris Hilton
was a childhood friend of hers.
Speaker 1 (01:18:05):
Kim Kardashian.
Speaker 4 (01:18:06):
Yeah, you got it, all right. Let's move on to
number four. Here we goad that.
Speaker 1 (01:18:12):
I got that.
Speaker 4 (01:18:12):
It is very sad and sad. You didn't get that,
all right? What do you mean, Kardashian, she's your age.
Speaker 1 (01:18:18):
There's a couple of other knows. There's a couple of
other clues you could have handed out there that then
I would have gone, well, I can't go there. I
get fired.
Speaker 4 (01:18:25):
This actress appeared in Las Vegas shows with her mother when.
Speaker 1 (01:18:29):
She was twelve years old.
Speaker 4 (01:18:31):
She played supporting roles in the nineteen eighty films The
Blues Brothers And when Harry met Sally Carrie Fisher, there
you go, Bingle.
Speaker 1 (01:18:38):
She was good. And when Harry met Sally, yeah, a
different look than she had in Star Wars. Yeah.
Speaker 4 (01:18:44):
Absolutely, Okay, this is the one I missed to Thish
and I forgot. One of our beautiful listeners sent this
in hold on a second. This actor born in Prince Rupert,
British Columbia, nineteen twenty one, attended Saint George's School.
Speaker 1 (01:18:57):
In Vancouver, Prince Rufford, Prince Rupert.
Speaker 4 (01:19:01):
He enlisted in the Canadian Army at age eighteen, was
injured in the plane crass south to Vancouver.
Speaker 1 (01:19:06):
Just as the war was ending.
Speaker 4 (01:19:08):
His boat on Beachcomber's was named Jerusy high Baller two.
He was a rival beach Comber to Nick was so relic.
His nickname of the show was Relic. I can't remember
the actress, Robert Clothe a.
Speaker 1 (01:19:24):
Beach Comber. Look at your face like you came up
that great viewer. Yeah, great viewer.
Speaker 4 (01:19:31):
I did a lot of good work. Anyways, beach Over,
somebody else did stop it. Beach Comber's Great show grew
up CBC watching it.
Speaker 1 (01:19:38):
That beach Combers show was big all over the world, right,
yes it was. It was, you know, another show. I
didn't realize that it's really popular around other you know,
outside of Canada. His Hudson and Rex. They changed the
lead actor recently apparently it caused a whole bunch of controversy.
Speaker 6 (01:19:56):
Well, another big show that got big out of Canada
was Shit's Creek.
Speaker 1 (01:20:00):
Oh yeah, definitely like s TV too. Yeah, thinking of
those dog one Yassy, what was the dog one on Lassie? No,
there was a dog one on It was called Lassie. Yeah,
that's what I said.
Speaker 4 (01:20:10):
That Hobo that was a great show too.
Speaker 1 (01:20:16):
Yeah, Hudson and Rexa has a dog, right, Yeah, have
you seen it? No, it's really beauty. Actually I was
on a roll there watching it. It's corny, but your
life man, beautiful scenery. Since Saint John's that hobo dog
was smart. It was a smart dog. Yeah, and you would.
But the show was on for twenty three years. They
(01:20:37):
used one dog the whole time. Yeah, smart dog. Yeah, okay,
all right, moving on. Shout out to Littlest Hobo fans. Yes,
Manford Man as we get ready for is it just
me eighty five years old? Sod I go? Yeah. He
(01:20:57):
started in an episode of The Littlest Hobo and he's
gonna play us out August seventy sixth and the album
The Roaring Silence You remember this? Oh? This is Manfred
Man's earth band number one in Canada in the US
with Bruce Springsteen's Blinded by the Light on check where
the client he crashed to the ground on a BC
Tuesday morning. Ninth.
Speaker 4 (01:21:25):

Rock and roll, Rick, is it just me? All right?
Here we go?
Speaker 4 (01:22:18):
Oh my goodness, if we miss you today.
Speaker 1 (01:22:20):
Apologies.
Speaker 4 (01:22:21):
There's a million texts karma that Springer hit the dinger
after the Mariners fans cheered while George on the ground
in big paint. Tom and Vick, you nailed it. That's
karma for them. You never ever cheer when a player
is hurt. Bad bad Seattle fans karma by Springer.
Speaker 1 (01:22:42):
I'm still upset that the Blue Jays won despite that.
Is somebody cooking in here? You smell food? I do yes?
Is a soup? Derek's cook something up. Smell is that soup?
Smell it? I smell it. I have a terrible sense
of smell. Oh lucky for me, he's bacon and eggs.
(01:23:04):
Well anyways, Oh my gosh, where are we here? Oh yeah, Adam,
the former bath guy is just me. But I can't
believe Donnie didn't point out the best part of their
Nordic throwbacks, the white pants stripe. And again, I'll say it,
the worst thing that's happened in hockey fashion over the
last I know, ten fifteen years or so, the elimination
(01:23:26):
of the pants stripe. The Canucks have joined Dad group.
They brought it back here. It looks like there's a
bit of the pants stripe. I just love that blue.
The new Ottawa, the new Ottawa jerseys, those their third
jerseys have a great pants stripe, all.
Speaker 4 (01:23:41):
Right, elliast Peterson, Donnie, I wonder if he's got pants stripes.
He number forty needs to step up tonight. This is
Maddie Dean, so he doesn't have a pant strip okay,
but if Patterson, he's kind of kind of really have
his best game of the year don tonight because the
rest of the center.
Speaker 1 (01:23:58):
Be a leader. He was the other night. Yeah, shots
in the final minute. Are you kidding me? A new
Wes Nick? Is it just me? But the Canucks should
take a lot of long high shots from the point
tonight as we know how well Sea Lofts tracks pucks
from distance, and that's been talked about a lot as
a weakness of Archer Sea Lofts at the NHL level. Anyway,
(01:24:18):
submission by new West Nick. This is from Archie, Sorry, Rick, No,
is it just me? Guys? You're forgetting about Spen Bercie
with concussion issues. Yes, pray for heatel and we agree
with you there, Archie. All the best for him in
his hockey career, but mostly about life outside of hearts
is been.
Speaker 4 (01:24:37):
Berchie's in Portland right now working with the winter Hawks.
He's not far away. But Ferland and Berchie two guys
done that had to sit down and say he listened. Yeah,
we got to move on.
Speaker 1 (01:24:47):
Along with the players that Craig mentioned. Yeah, exactly. Is
it just me?
Speaker 4 (01:24:51):
But if Rick attended the Blue Jays game last night,
he would have left in the seventh inning stretch, Yes, very.
Speaker 1 (01:24:56):
Good by Yeah, you would have missed springer home run.
Speaker 4 (01:25:00):
No, No, I would have watched Springer's homer and then
thought about it and then have confidence in the team,
Hey in the eighth inning, or maybe just to beat
the traffic.
Speaker 1 (01:25:08):
But why would you go to an event that's forty
thousand people? Oh? Don do you want to do you
want to take six hours to get home? No? No,
but I accept that because I've gone to this outstanding
event with forty thousand people, and part of the price
you pay, along with a lot of money for the ticket,
is a traffic jam afterwards, and maybe going going to
(01:25:28):
the state to work the next day. Game seven, and
it's what run? So what if? What if? That's all fine?
You make it to uh, make it back home quickly,
but you miss a comeback, you missed, you missed runs, you.
Speaker 4 (01:25:44):
Miss Here's a great thing on your cellphone now sky
you can watch it all now, don Well, then why
go to the game because.
Speaker 1 (01:25:51):
That this might be the submission of the year or
the worst submission of the year. Ozzie Goose? Is it
just me? Thank God for doling keeping the sanity at
the studio? Donnie and Ryan going off the rails. We've
never heard that before.
Speaker 4 (01:26:06):
Yeah, And Ozzie Goose, like me, is a big Blue
Jays guy. Ozzie Goose is a good guy, by the way,
a really good guy.
Speaker 1 (01:26:12):
Is it just me?
Speaker 4 (01:26:13):
Or is the blue Jays winning not huge for Canada?
Bringing people together who don't even watch baseball Canada's team.
Matt from Nanaimo another great submission. Matt is bang on.
Speaker 1 (01:26:22):
But there's there are a lot of us who feel
unity in the fact we don't like the Blue Jays. Okay,
so it he's bringing us together. Thanks.
Speaker 4 (01:26:30):
Last time I checked, the Blue Jays have a Canadian
flag on their jersey. Don anyways, Canada's team. When did
Donnie become Dave Pratt?
Speaker 1 (01:26:41):
Hey, listen, that's a submission. So I've got a lot
of that. I just want to say something. When I
was doing a highlight show back in the day, it's
this is a different job. And if somebody's comparing me
to David Pratt, I say thank you very much, because honestly,
that guy does not get enough credit. One of the
great broadcasters in BC history.
Speaker 4 (01:27:00):
He is one of the best all sports radio guys
in British Columbia.
Speaker 1 (01:27:04):
He knew how to stir the pot. He was there
with him and day just absolutely tremendous and he was
great as a host and reporter at TSN for what
fifteen sixteen years now? If you want to compare me
to David.
Speaker 4 (01:27:15):
Practice, Dave was good at what he did. You know,
he started to show at three o'clock, but he was
in there at nine, you know, right, And he would
never type. Everything would be written on a piece of paper.
It was great watching him prepare for a show. The
other canuck people are bringing up, by the way, is
Tucker Pullman.
Speaker 1 (01:27:30):
Tucker Pullman, Yeah, recently unsigned in the bayside in box.
Thank you for that. Yeah, and all another to him
as well.
Speaker 4 (01:27:37):
Another guy concussions and he had you know, we've heard this, DJT.
Speaker 1 (01:27:41):
Is it just me? There's only one center in the
top one hundred that would be available, and that's Nazim
Kawdri could only fit under the cap if Hetel is done.
And we've heard this the last week or so. Is
Nazm Cadri available Calgary's off to the poor start? Is
he available?
Speaker 4 (01:27:58):
Okay, well let's go, let's go. That's gonna cost you
a ton and there's no way the Flames are trading
kadriy in division. I would be shocked to see that,
Don shock and he's got a big ticket seven million
a year.
Speaker 1 (01:28:10):
Donny trades with the Flames before fairly recently too.
Speaker 4 (01:28:13):
Hey, yesterday I was at a thrift store that you
no marine the submission. Yesterday I was at a thrift
store in Nanaimo and found a D and D hat
for eight.
Speaker 1 (01:28:21):
Bucks rock bottom. I bought it.
Speaker 4 (01:28:25):
Now I have to go somewhere to take a photo
deb in Nanaimo. Somebody gave up in our hat. Somebody
gave up her hat, Deb and Nanaimo saw our hat
in a thrift store.
Speaker 1 (01:28:34):
What is going on? Yeah, that's all. Take the photo
Segar shows. Not that all already considered vintage? Vintage? My god? Wow?
All right, all right? Uh a break pull question and
show will wrap them up next honey, till the team
I Jack.
Speaker 4 (01:28:53):
