Henderson is our produceries the men at the controls our director.
The voice of God is Derek Long. How are you
couldn't be better? I'm surprised with what's happening with the
Vancouver Canucks right now. Why they end up losing last

(01:05):
night five to one. Understandably given their schedule, this compact schedule,
condensed schedule because of the Olympics, their fourth game in
six days. They've been on the road, all sorts of injuries.
So that result last night wasn't really surprising. And you're
playing a Pittsburgh team, or they're playing a Pittsburgh team

(01:25):
that's off to a very good start. They both went
in with the same four and two records last night.
But we'll get to this in a second after the highlights.
But we received emails and texts, this isn't us. Okay,
we get you know, we get called out for being negative, right,
So there's that. But the amount of emails and text

(01:48):
we had last night and this morning regarding player deployment
by Adam Foot, yes, and people even referring back to
his time as one season with the Colona Rockets way backward.
So I was really surprised.

Speaker 4 (02:03):
You were taken aback by that, taken back a lot
of these guys said Firefoot, Firefoot was a lot of
what was in those emails, Donnie, I'm not gonna lie,
and it wasn't us. It wasn't us. It's in our
text line as well. But here's the thing, folks, they
won three in a row last night. I saw that
coming a mile away. Seven ABSPERG players in the lineup

(02:23):
five injured, No Besser, no Blueger, Donnie.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
Who can't see that loss last night? Come on, well
you see it a mile away. Maybe not everybody because
of what happened in Washington. That was pretty impressive, right, Oh.

Speaker 4 (02:38):
Yeah, they did really well there. But that was the
Abosperg Canucks last night. Come on, man, And it doesn't
help with Besser and blue gir out because your center
ice position is oh my go you got one center man,
and followed by three Abbey guys. I mean you could
see that result last night coming a mile away.

Speaker 1 (02:55):
Okay, And so we'll talk about who may or may
not be coming back for to morrow's game in Nashville,
the end of their five game road trip. They're now
three and one on that road trip. So let's hit
the highlights and then we'll talk some more and so
show some numbers regarding deployment. After that, Derek, we're good.

(03:15):
Rock and roll PPG Paints Arena, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Just over
a minute in Elias Petterson little touch to Connor Garland
winds up shots and scars beating his old teammate Arthur
Selofs won nothing Vancouver. Later in that opening frame, Penguins
press Parker Watherspoon at the point his shot tipped in
by Connor Doer one one on the Italian by the

(03:38):
man wearing bol Bennett's old number nineteen. Just under six
minutes left in the second period, Penguins parwer play Tommy
Novak on the right side, allowed to sashy in with
the puck, snaps it past Kevin Lankin and two to one.
Home team takes the lead. Two minutes later, face off
to the left of lancoln and lose puck pounced on
by Sydney Crosby, and with that goal he passes Mayorrio

(04:00):
Lemieux on top of the Penguins all time regular season
and playoff pointsless three to one minute after that, if
Jenny Malkin in the neutral zone gathering speed busting in
stop by lanking it, but Anthony Mantha there for the
rebound four to one. Penns in the home black with
the golden white trim and the Penguins twined. Bulging continues
in the third six minutes in Mantha again out front

(04:23):
to Justin Brazo. You got him in your pool six
to six journeyman winger undrafted his fifth goal in seven games.
Penguins up the Docks five to one Vancouver. As we
mentioned at Nashville Thursday, they're practicing there today. Road practices
are rarity with today's national this season rest National hockey

(04:43):
the schedule, but we understand they are practicing in Tennessee today,
so maybe we'll get some news out of there, Tony.

Speaker 4 (04:51):
They had a good first period Garland for the second
straight game. They scored on their first shot. Garland blows
it by Sea Lovs. They outshot him eleven three in
the first Pittsburgh took nine minutes to get a shot
on net Don. It was a good.

Speaker 5 (05:04):
First period, and then everything penalties, they're travel they're tired
and all that stuff.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
Second they got out shot thirteen three, outscored three. Nothing
in the second. Second period was bad and then it
just downhill after that.

Speaker 1 (05:15):
You mentioned they outshot the Penguins. There's actually eleven to
six in the first peng was outshot, then fourteen to
three in the second. As you would imagine, fatigue, fatigue
set in. Let's do this. I want to run this
Connor Garland clip. He's been great, but he's great. His
passion comes through. This is Connor Garland post game last night,
clearly not happy with his team's effort.

Speaker 6 (05:37):
Thanks, didn't play hard enough, didn't play detail enough, or
really didn't do anything very well. So to have a
really good effort in.

Speaker 7 (05:49):
Nashville, you do get a nice school tonight against one
of your goaltenders.

Speaker 1 (05:52):
Can you take me through that play.

Speaker 6 (05:54):
A long time ago? But just a shot? But never
we didn't do anything after that? Really really really bad
bad effort tonight.

Speaker 1 (06:03):
What's the message to the team then heading to Nashville.
You'll be ready to play.

Speaker 6 (06:07):
It's a hard league to play in, so can't take
your foot off the gas, can't gotta get ready on
your days off. Gotta be ready to play. So good
learning lesson for us, But you'd rather do it than
a win. But you know we got to come back
ready to play against Nashville.

Speaker 1 (06:23):
Yeah, nothing wrong with the way Number eight is playing.
Seven points, two goals in five assists. He leads the
Canucks in points.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
Rick, He's been great, and you wish everybody played with
his energy and passion and go get it he does.
He never takes a shift off, never takes a practice off,
never takes anything off. If everybody played like him, don
would be a whole lot better team.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
Okay, so let's get to uh the issue of the day,
or at least the issue of yesterday regarding the Vancouver Canucks,
and that's Adam Foots player deployment. Before we get to
a couple of tweets focusing on that subject, I want

(07:07):
to read a couple of the emails, a couple of
emails that we got at least at least one email
that we got last night, late last night, and some
early this morning, multiple, not just one, but several. This
is from one of our listeners named Kevin. Guys, it's
already time to question if Adam foot is the right choice.

(07:27):
You know, it's a hockey market, right. Seven games, yet
these decisions he's making don't make sense. The team's top
players played the least in favor of career ahlers who
played the worst. There is just no, absolutely no excuse
for this. And like I said, he is not Kevin
is not the only listener viewer of ours to submit

(07:49):
an email or a text like that, and people are
calling for him to be fired. Already seven games. In
twenty four hours ago, they'd won three straight on the road,
there were four and two one of the surprise, surprisingly
positive stories of the National Hockey League season, and then
twenty four hours later less than that people are calling

(08:11):
for his head. So in line with that, several tweets
today talking about Adam Footz player deployment, deployment, deployment the
Canucks ice time. So this is from our friend Jamie Dodd,
who we're going to join on six fifty later. Yeah,
so our friend Jamie died at Sportsnet six fifty tweeted

(08:33):
this out last night five on five ice time for
the Canucks centers last night. This is from natural stat
trick Jamie source here got too Ratu five on five fifteen,
O six nills them on ten thirty one, Max Sassin
ten twenty two. These are all players with Abbotsford last

(08:56):
year Elias Petterson wrecked nine eight, nine minutes and twenty
eight Oh boy seconds? What's going on there? Because you'd
assume this would be flipped.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
This would should be flipped if you're paying this guy
eleven point six million dollars, don you're paying him to
produce on a night when there's three avis per centers,
there's no Blueger, there's no heatal this is the night
that Petterson should be at fifteen oh five, not Ratu.
But I'm gonna give you some insight into some of
the reasoning for Foot, if you listen to me. Canducks

(09:31):
were horrible on face offs last night, thirty one percent.
Peterson was five for seventeen, one for five in the
power play in face offs.

Speaker 1 (09:38):
Ratu is nine for nine.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
So what Foot is saying is, if you're not gonna
win draws, I'm not gonna put you out there right
for the face offs. Ratu got a ton of ice
because simply he trusts him to win face offs, and
don he did not trust Petterson to win draws last night.
He was not good on the draws last night. That
has played a role into what you're seeing there on
the screen. So if the coach doesn't trust you to
win draw you're not going out to take draws.

Speaker 1 (10:02):
So it's all about face offs, and which is an
important say the game.

Speaker 4 (10:06):
But Donny, you chase the game when you lose face offs.
You're chasing, You're not starting.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
You're you're also chasing the game when you fall behind
on the scorebooks. So who's more likely I get it
to help you out that way? I would assume it's
Les Petterson. The other thing is a couple of things here,
Uh why not? And this just happened before. Have Ratu

(10:31):
take the face off off, he goes, Pederson comes on
the ice. I know that it's tough to make I understand,
but it does happen. Also, if Peterson is having a
tough night, right when you don't have any any in
any centers, put them on the wing with Ratu. Then
if rat Tuo is winning because you're paying him eleven
to six, there's offensive potential there. And honestly I believe
that folks, despite you know, some of the things we've

(10:53):
said on the show earlier, put him on the wing.
He's played there before six forty nine. I just it's
to me, it's it's pretty surprising. I was just really
taken aback by how how upset people were with this
right to be.

Speaker 4 (11:10):
You are paying this guy, he's your highest speed guy,
and you've got three abbas percenters playing.

Speaker 1 (11:15):
More than hold on a second, you're you're justifying it
two seconds.

Speaker 4 (11:19):
A little bit of justification was the face offs. But
what are you doing? Like, why is Peterson making eleven six?
The other guys salaries I think all three of those
guys are under a million dollars.

Speaker 1 (11:31):
They're making and they're playing more. Well, let's throw out
as you know, I rarely concentrate on players' salaries. Okay,
So so eleven six a side, Who's who's most capable
of helping you get back into the hockey game? And
I know Penley's played a part, and then Petterson did
was on the PK and he was on the power
play as well, So there is that totalized time is

(11:54):
a different story. But you are paying him a lot
of money he is supposed to be and I think
he is more capable of helping you back in a
game where you've fall him behind. So this is surprice
doesn't make sense.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
You know, the face off thing a little bit makes sense,
but otherwise why and here's the other thing done, Petterson's
on pace for another forty five point season, Like, get
the guy going, find ways to get him going offensively.
You didn't pay him eleven point six million to be
a good defensive player, although he's been great and defensively done,
did you see him break up the play, go up
the ice two on one? He's doing good stuff defensively,

(12:28):
but you didn't pay him eleven six to be a
good defensive player. You paid him eleven six because his
points per game at that time was incredible. You need
this guy at eighty ninety points. If he gets another
forty five points, that's not gonna boat well.

Speaker 1 (12:42):
And yet you're okay with him playing less than.

Speaker 5 (12:46):
I'm telling you right there, this is not right. This
can't keep going on. This can't keep going on.

Speaker 1 (12:52):
And he is not the only player, at least Petterson
isn't the only player others who's depended on offensive fleet
making pretty good money whose ice time came in question
last night, we got the other yeah tweet. Here is
this from Jeff. Okay, so this is from another of
our friends, Jeff Patterson. Look at Jake debrusk Rick five

(13:14):
on five. We're talking about a winger here. So this
has nothing to do with a faceos Friday at Chicago,
a game they won in a shootout. He played fourteenth
twelve and a couple of games live last night in
Pittsburgh five on five, just seven thirty. What's going on
with Jeff? I don't know.

Speaker 4 (13:34):
I don't get it, Like it's it's you got in
a game where half of the abs Berd is in
the Vancouver lineup. You gotta rely on your veterans. You
gotta rely on your guys making six, seven, eight, nine,
ten to eleven million. And last night he had Debus
parked on the bench and the you know, Caine's ice
time was a little bit better last night, he did better.

Speaker 1 (13:54):
But Peterson was Caine had that breakaway, so.

Speaker 4 (13:56):
Kine had actually two almost two breakaways. He actually showed
some good foot speed last night. But I think Cannuck
fans that are upset have every right to be upset
with the deployment of the ice time of the better
players last night.

Speaker 1 (14:09):
Yeah, although I will say, you know, Connor Garland is
leading all forwards in ice time. I don't have any
problem with that at all. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (14:15):
Oh god, and Surewood his ice time is through the
roof like Sherwood's ice time, and they deserve it because
they work hard.

Speaker 1 (14:22):
And look and look again. Twenty four hours ago, everybody
was complimenting Adam Foot and what the Canucks had been
up to. This is very very early, but it will
be interesting to see if this what seems to be
a trend continues. You know, how much success are they
going to have? And is part of the reason for this.

(14:43):
The you know, the schedule they have, the condensed schedule
they have because of the Olympics. It's crazy that the
schedule they have. And you know what, it's no excuse,
you're still gonna you're gonna get tired, but no excuse
because every team has to put up with it in
an Olympic year.

Speaker 4 (14:57):
Well, and what bothers me last night is there's no
meat there. Last night there is it house radio, house
tv U, but there's no media there.

Speaker 1 (15:05):
To ask me.

Speaker 4 (15:06):
And McIntyre's there, No, he is there. No, he's a
good guy. But remember the Vancouver Son and the province
used to send two guys on the road, don you
know the home radio station used to go on the
road and the coach was held the accountable on the road,
don I mean? But nobody asked him that last night.

Speaker 1 (15:23):
It's concerning Well, they want to keep their jobs and
I don't blame them. Well you know you said it,
not mean. Everybody's these days.

Speaker 4 (15:30):
Scared scared to say something negative or you'll get fired
by the brass.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
Imagine if they were our bosses we have two or
three years ago.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
We have a good boss. He lets us do our stuff.
He's a great guy.

Speaker 1 (15:44):
Very good. Okay, here's what's coming up on the show.
We want to get updates on the Canucks injured players
as well. We'll do that as the as the day
goes on. Okay, oh yeah, for sure paying attention here,
yeah for sure. Okay, And obviously we'll talk about we
hope to talk about the World Series, the Lions, the
white Caps, all right, DTMC is it just me coming

(16:05):
up in the eleven o'clock hour. John Shannon is going
to join us just after eleven o'clock. Boy, did you
see the ratings for Game seven? Mariners in Blue Jays?
Johns mister television located in Toronto. Yeah, I wonder why?
Wonder why is mister Tellivision television ratings were high for
Game seven? His team was playing well. I think it's

(16:25):
more about the Mariners. But that's just me. Big Ride
the Twitter guy coming up later this hour and up
next from he's mister television as well. They both are
from TS and farhand Logy. He's next. Thank for tuning in, folks.

by a postgame skate for the fans. Ah visit Vancouver
Giants dot com for ticket info. You wanted to make

(18:17):
a point because a lot of people are talking about us,
focusing on not just us, but the people who emailed
us and texted us late last night and early this morning.
But you wanted to make a point. These people are saying, well,
Don Rick, what about total ice time? It's still a
question mark first five on It's not good. Patterson's total

(18:37):
ice time was sixteen minutes. Five forwards had more ice
than him. That's that's not good, Don He needs to
be as a number one centerman at nineteen twenty minutes.
That's what your top centers played. Nazem Kadriy in his
first game of the year this year in Edmonton, played
twenty four minutes, albeit that game went in overtime, but
come on, your number one center should not be at

(18:58):
sixteen minutes. Done. Yeah, and a lot of people people
talking about how last night was a perfect example of
a game that got away from them and your tough
road schedule.

Speaker 4 (19:09):
That doesn't mean you sit your top guys.

Speaker 1 (19:12):
Well, sometimes you do when you're in the midst of
a tough schedule. Give them a rest and on you
go to the next game. My argument towards that is, well,
the Penguins didn't get the big lead until late in
the second period, exactly. It wasn't like it was five
to nothing right off the bat fire. Antalogy, joins us
now from tsn Fryan, thanks for doing this, sir, How

(19:34):
are you?

Speaker 3 (19:36):
I'm good. It's rare that I agree with Rick. But
I agree with Rick. You know, especially in a game
like last night, when they were icing the roster of
forwards that the Canucks were with a number of new guys,
I figured they'd lean on a guy like Peterson even more.
I was surprised to see the numbers of the way
they were not just for him, but for all the
top guys other than Connor Garland, all the top forwards.
I should say.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
Yeah, and he was on the PK and the power
play as well, but they they needed him to play
like an eleven to six million dollars a year player.
The thing is he didn't get on the ice is
as much as a lot of people would like. What
do you think of Adam Foote so far as a
head coach? Been seven games for it?

Speaker 3 (20:14):
Yeah, Look, I think the sample size probably isn't big enough.
I didn't like what I saw in the games at
home early on to start the season. Those first three
games weren't necessarily good outside of the one period against Calgary.
But he's certainly turned things around on the road and
their attention to detail has been better, their physicality has
been better. That there's a lot they're doing in those
first three games of the trip that would indicate a
level of buy in. So, you know, and that's why

(20:37):
I say you need a bigger sample size because some
of us overreacted after three games. Some of us overreacted
after the first three games of the trip. It's gonna
be a bit like that. And you know, this coming game,
they likely are gonna get brought Besser back. We'll see
if they get Teddy blue Er back. We'll see what
it looks like with that Trodemco between the pipes.

Speaker 1 (20:53):
You know.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
So there's just going to be so much that's going
to vary from game to game. I just think we
need to at least get to the twenty game mark
before we sue a grade.

Speaker 1 (21:01):
We've got a lot of this yesterday emails and text farhand, well,
you know, Philip hetl Lord knows how long he's going
to be out. Blueger is out. You know, they've been
talking about a trade for a number one or number
two center for a long long time. It is now
the time you make a significant trade or you just
go with what you've.

Speaker 3 (21:20):
Got, even got you over the barrel right now, and
it's gonna take, you know, a godfather offer to move
a reasonable guy that you can firmly establish in your
top six. So I think they're gonna number one. They've
been trying for a while, and they're gonna continue to try.
They tried in the opening week of the season, then
Philip Hedl played really well. Did that all of a
sudden mean they stopped trying, No, it just meant there
was a little less pressure to get it done, and

(21:43):
now the pressure's back on again. So they're probably gonna
want to wait and see what the verdict is on Hetel.
But as we know, in situations like this, it's gonna
take a while. It's not like a leg injury where
you know you can project two weeks. With this, you
just don't know. I know Rick talked about possible season
ending ir being the table, not a done deal, but
certainly on the table. With the people that I've talked

(22:04):
to in the organization say, it's just too early to tell.
So you know, if you get Blueger back, and it
certainly seems like Blueger when you get them back, isn't
going to be one hundred percent right. It's going to
be a guy that can get banged up again in
and out of the lineup quick. You know, Conratu and
and Sassen do enough early to make them feel a
little less pressure. I don't know, right, but I just

(22:24):
I just never felt this team was good enough to
contend anyway. So I worry about the thought that you're
going to mortgage a ton of assets to go get
a short term fix just to like make Quinn Hughes happy.
Is that where we're at right now? So I don't know.
I just I wouldn't I wouldn't overreact. I like, look,
I'd still be looking. I just wouldn't be willing to
overpay a big time to go get a marginal player.

Speaker 5 (22:46):
All right, let's go over to the BC Lions. It's
saskatchwin final regular season game. Are you under the impression
the Riders, who have already locked up first place will
be sitting a lot of guys.

Speaker 3 (22:57):
I don't think they will be to be honest, I
think Trevor Harrison play. He got first team reps early
in the week, and because they sat a number of
key guys last week, they don't want to be sitting
guys for four or five weeks before a West Final.
So I think their strategy was take your foot off
the guests last week, try a little harder this week,
even if it's just for the first half, let's say,
and then you've got a week off for those guys,

(23:18):
and CFO rosters make it difficult, right, I mean most teams,
for example, Rick dress six offense in alignement, so it's
not like you could all of a sudden in the
second half sit five of those guys, right, you could
sit one of those guys same to get receiver right like,
you just can't dress so many extras, and so often
teams dress so many of those extras, extra linebackers, extra
edge guys, just so you can have special teams bodies. Right,

(23:41):
So you know, I think they're gonna address a stronger
roster than they did last week. If guys are physically
capable of playing at one hundred percent, they will have
guys need more time, they'll give it to them. But
I think you'll see a better team than the one
that almost lost to Winnipeg. Are the ones that did
lose to Winnipeg by point?

Speaker 4 (23:57):
Nathan Rourke, what do you think the NFL is thinking
about his numbers this year? Do you think there's teams
thinking about him again? And if there are, what do
you think he thinks about them?

Speaker 3 (24:10):
I think the day Nathan goes back to the NFL,
and I don't think it's gonna be this offseason, I
think he's gonna be very discerning and I don't know
that any NFL teams are looking at him any better, right.
I mean, he went through the Ringer for a season
and a half and it didn't go the way he wanted,
and you know there were a lot of factors surrounding that.
So you know, if he goes out and wins an
MP and wins a Great Cup, does that all of

(24:32):
a sudden make him that much more desirable? Maybe five
percent more desirable? But do I think it leads to
a team saying Nathan, I'm guaranteeing you the number two spot,
not like Jacksonville who misrepresented and said we're gonna guarantee
you a shot to compete for number two, which you
never got, but it would require you are number two.
Here's the siding bonus to prove that you're gonna be

(24:53):
the number two. I just don't think that's gonna happen there,
So it's gonna take some more time, you know. I
think there's still a level of bitterness over how things
went down. Then I don't think he's just gonna jump
at the first opportunity. I think he's going to be very,
very deliberate, and I just don't think that opportunity comes
to him this offseason if it ever does.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
And it wasn't just Jacksonville, is the Giants and the
Falcons as well, multiple teams that let him go. So
the J's are done, right, Probably the Mariners? No, well,
some of us wish the Jays were done, but the
Mariners are done. So does this mean you're pulling for
the J's now against the Dodgers from three?

Speaker 3 (25:32):
If the Dodgers could win in three, that's what I'd
like to see, But I think they've got to play
at least four. So I hope the Dodgers make fast
work of the Jays so we can hear less about it,
and they can take up less oxygen. There is no
chance I would ever cheer for the Jays, but disappointed
the marriage. Like, these are two separate questions, right, Like
I really like the Mariners. I don't like the Mariners
because I hate the Jays. Those are two more separate

(25:55):
entities for me. So, like, I'm disappointed because I think
the Mariner's could have won that series. I think Dan
Wilson made some mistakes in the final two games in Toronto.
They had opportunities, especially in that last one with the
pitching decisions the way they went Look, Wilson showed a
level of managerial inexperience at that stage, but you know,
I think he made a lot of good decisions along

(26:15):
the way. Right, So for me, I'm just going to
appreciate the run that they went on. Lost opportunity absolutely.

Speaker 1 (26:20):
But.

Speaker 3 (26:22):
Yeah, in terms of baseball, season's over for me. So
I'm going to do everything I can to avoid the
content for the next ten days.

Speaker 1 (26:28):
Okay, so we're getting alumni Rick because I don't know
if he's our show yesterday. We're a Blue Jays jersey.
But what do you say to the people who have
told you myself and Ryan and others that you're not
a good Canadian, you're anti Canadian if you don't pull
for the J's.

Speaker 3 (26:45):
Yeah, you know, I've spent fifty three years of my
life in Canada and I love this country. I'm not
interested in Toronto's team. I've said before that Canada's team
is an opinion, whereas Team Canada is a fact. And
I don't share the opinion of the Toronto Blue Jays
being Canada's, Canada's team, more team Canada, none of it. Right,
So there's a lot of us, you know that. I'll
be honest with you. I was. I was losing faith

(27:07):
in how many Mariner fans there actually were in the city, right,
just because of the propaganda and state run media we
get by their rights holder. So I was worried. And
to be honest, the amount of support I got, like, yeah,
there were a lot of There was a lot of criticism,
but there was also a lot of support. And the
support told me there's actually more Mariner fans in the city.
Are they more Blue Jay fans than Mariner fans? Sure

(27:28):
there are, But for me, I believe that the numbers
are even closer, right, I mean It's funny because I
did a you know, a tweet at the end of
the series saying, you know, I'm disappointed, and I muted
the conversation. I went back and looked just to see
how many replies, and there was like one hundred and sixty.
I didn't read any of them, you know, like I
muted the conversation. I didn't want those mentions. I wasn't
going to empower those people. But I would bet that

(27:51):
along with the racism and inappropriate tweets that would have
come to me, I bet you there would have been
a lot of support too, because that's what that series showed.
There was some good there. It wasn't all evil.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
I don't know how many Toronto people that I've talked
to who can't believe that somebody like myself or somebody
in Vancouver wouldn't pull for the Jays versus the Mariners.
And here here hear these people from Toronto. Who do they?
Who do they? They would rather support the Buffalo Bills
than the Toronto Argonauts And they can't see the contradiction there.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
You know, I had a uh, there was a reporter,
Curtis Crabtree, that was it. Curtis Corbyn. It was Corbyn
anyway in Seattle, and he was sitting a few seats
over from us. And Corbin is American, grew up in Ohio.
Cheers for the Blue Jays. Why because he grew up
like three hours away. It was closer for him to

(28:43):
get to an aj game than it was for him
to get to a Reds game than it was for
him to get to a Cleveland Guardians game. So I'm like, hey,
good for you, Like whatever you connect to with, whatever
you resonate with. You know when he lives in Seattle
and he covers so, and he was actually in the
press box cheering for the Blue Jays. Good for you.
Whatever you connect with, I'm good with. And nobody should
pass judgment on what I connect with.

Speaker 1 (29:04):
Thanks for this love the passion. Next week, let's do it.

Speaker 3 (29:08):
Sorry, Rick, By next week, this series should be over.

Speaker 5 (29:11):
No, you just keep Hey, at least at least blue
Jays are in it.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
They're in it.

Speaker 5 (29:17):
I can't say the same for you three and then
the Mariners. At least the Jays are in it. And
if they do win it, hey.

Speaker 3 (29:24):
Now we can now we can be excited about you know,
when when things go poorly sure.

Speaker 1 (29:29):
Hey, thanks, Fryan screwed off. And Game one Friday, is
it gonna be a savage for the Yeah, it looks
like that. I thought it Blakes. Now for the Dodgers,
I thought it was Gosman, but it might not. They pitched,
he pitched in game seven. Maybe that plays into it.
But Game one on Friday, Dodgers and Jays, and obviously

(29:50):
the Dodgers go in as favorites. And I always think
what I think of, Well, I've got maybe I'll say
this conversation for later in terms of world series that
didn't go the way a lot of people would expect
it or expect the series to go later on. Okay,
So top of the hour, John shouting up, next poll question,

Dog poll question in the wake of the conduct five
to one lost last night to the Penguins of Pittsburgh,
experienced one of Victoria's iconic destinations, sleep sip stock up,
all in one, legendary spot, Come sit and stay at
the dog today. All right, Ryan, get her up. The
Wadling Dog poll question.

Speaker 4 (31:14):
Do you agree with Adam Foot's ice time deployment for
the Canucks forwards last night in Pittsburgh?

Speaker 1 (31:19):
And look at this? You know what?

Speaker 4 (31:21):
And oh it's just the negative media. Well take a
look at this, folks. Eighty one percent say no, night
they're not being negative. Yeah, I know, exactly nineteen percent
say yes. Five hundred votes already. We posted a little
bit late today and by the way, Patterson lost Donnie.
We talked about face offs and the importance Patterson lost
his first eight draws against Sidney Crosby. That's another reason

(31:44):
where the coach says, hey, if you're not gonna win
the draws against Crosby, I can't put you out every time.
Now we're chasing the play and Crosby is the other
guy on the other side of the park. Now you're
starting to understand why Patterson's numbers were down.

Speaker 1 (31:57):
Here, I know the breakdown of defensive faceoffs and offensive
his own face offs. Not yet, I'm working on it.
You're gonna review the game last night, are But when
you lose as a top line center, when you lose
eight straight face offs to the other number one center,
there's a reason why the coach is saying, whoa, I'm
gonna back off. Well then okay, okay, there are other
ways to approach it, and I'm gonna repeat myself. Have

(32:21):
rad to take the face off off the icy I
know it's not always easy to do on ghost Pederson
or put Petterson on the wing. He's played there before,
Bayside Ocean Front Resort Inbox, Brandon and Vancouver. Making such
significant ice time decisions over something as silly as face
offs is moronic. Put that in your pap and smoke it.

(32:42):
Face Offs are important.

Speaker 4 (32:43):
They are important. If you don't win them, you're chasing
the game. You don't want to chase the game. You
want to start with the puck after the draw.

Speaker 1 (32:50):
This is unsigned. Cannucks could really use Bo Horvat right now.
Penley killed a face off guy and that eight mil
with the cap going up is nothing, really, miss Bow,
that ship is saled. But didn't you have a stat?
Have a strat? Let me find it.

Speaker 4 (33:05):
Uh, this guy sent a great stat about the top
faceoff guys the NHL. Oh, right here, top two NHL
centerment face off percentage this year. Lindholm, Oh my sixty
two percent.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
J T.

Speaker 5 (33:19):
Miller, Oh my fifty eight percent. Horvat fourteenth at fifty
four percent. David Cedar, great submission, Dave. All the top
centers winning draws in the National Hockey League.

Speaker 1 (33:31):
The Knucks traded and at the time you were in
favor of all those trades. Len Am was a free agency.

Speaker 4 (33:39):
Well yeah, but they let Lyndenholm go they I mean
they brought him in.

Speaker 1 (33:42):
I get that. But JT.

Speaker 4 (33:43):
Miller winning fifty eight percent of his draws, Horvat winning
fifty four and you got the Canucks top centerment last
night Donny five for seventeen on draws. Thanks David Cedar.

Speaker 1 (33:55):
All this whole conversation ice time deployment. We're getting to
know Adam flat but as a head coach, something to
keep an eye on. Yeah, okay, absolutely, And again it's
not just us, obviously it raised our eyebrows, but all
sorts of emails and texts last night into our Bay
side inbox and our email situation, so that that got

(34:17):
us going today. Kennon North fans, some people joked that
this was the schedule, this loss was scheduled. Perhaps it was,
but by foot resting his number one line in other ways, Okay,
we're not throwing this one, but we understand it's not
the best of circumstances. We're gonna we're gonna arrest the
guys who can score. I'm not so sure that was

(34:38):
in play.

Speaker 4 (34:38):
I look, they had seven Habitsburg guys, five injured. There's
no best there's no blue gird. I'm okay with last night.
I mean, they had a million excuses and they could
use them.

Speaker 1 (34:47):
To And again, the game didn't get out of hand
until late in the in the second period. But again,
this ice time deployment with Adam Foot, who were getting
to know as the head coach, is something to keep
an eye absolutely. I mean everybody in Vancouver hockey crist city,
BC hockey crazed market, keeps an eye on everything when
it comes comes to the Canucks. But again we're getting

(35:08):
to know Adam Foot. Okay, let's let's get some updates here.
What's the latest on Philip Heetel.

Speaker 4 (35:14):
Well, just look, it's day by day and sometimes with concussion.
Day by day, don what's a concussion? What do you
they're not announced that a song though, Oh, Debo, Doug
and the Slugs day by Day.

Speaker 1 (35:25):
That's one of my We actually brought it up, brought
us this.

Speaker 4 (35:28):
Morning, day by day. It is Ryan, it's a Canadian band.
When that song comes on in the car, Donny, I
crank it up day by day, Doug and the Slugs
a good Canadian band, and don't deny it.

Speaker 1 (35:40):
Ryan, thank you for that.

Speaker 4 (35:42):
But anyways, Philip Pedlu Donnie, Donny, Philipetal, Uh, it's it's
too early. Concussions are up and down, good days, bad days.
Let's let's let's let them sort out.

Speaker 1 (35:53):
Philip Pedal and all the best to him, not just
on the ice, off the ice as well, because we
all know about the dean say multiple concussions.

Speaker 4 (36:01):
Honey, Michael Furlan Pulman, who was the third guy we've
had a guy's career team, Sven Bertie, Bertie. We've had
three guys call their careers in the last ten years
in Vancouver because of concussions. Brock bes Besser is expected.
Donnie won't. Don't be surprised that best is playing against
Nashville tomorrow. He's missed two games with a personal reason,

(36:23):
and so we're gonna just keep an eye on it
and keep an eye on that. And Teddy Blueger they're
hoping he plays tomorrow. That would really help. Oh, Donnie,
would help if you're was in the lineup against Nashville
Center Center. Thank you not that he's a second line center,
And here's another one for you, don he might be done.

(36:44):
The market is very skimpy for second line centers. If
you got a second line center in the NHL, you're
not sitting there going, oh hey, let's get hm to Vancouver. No, no, no.
Second line centers don't grow on trees. They're hard to
come by, and if you got it, you're not moving it.

Speaker 1 (37:00):
Then that ship sailed. Here's that expression twice now, yeah,
ship sailed.

Speaker 4 (37:04):
If their dreams are getting a second line center, like,
give me a break.

Speaker 1 (37:07):
It's not. It's been a decade now that they've looked
for a second line center. Oh don they we just
just kidding. Oh yeah, Okay, I see what you did there. Yeah,
you caught me off. Okay, So Teddy blueger again to
recap here.

Speaker 4 (37:22):
Ber Uh. They're hoping for tomorrow. Besser looks good for
tomorrow of heatle up and down and we'll see how
Laquer Mackie two weeks. He's gone out two weeks. He's
out two weeks.

Speaker 1 (37:34):
And Lequer Mackie's out two weeks upper body. Yeah, he's
out two weeks. Yep. You had some information regarding the
Abbotsford Canucks.

Speaker 4 (37:44):
Ryan, they signed a player today. They're in trouble down there.
They need players, Ryan, could you show that player? They
they so half of Abbsburg's in Vancouver down and you
get upset at that? No, I don't get upset, but
I feel for the guys in Abbey Don Ry, what
is it?

Speaker 1 (37:58):
Canucks today signed forward the Durando to.

Speaker 8 (38:02):
A professional China, A professional I know this is not
armand Okay, look, I can already see this as the
writing Sam asking me, this is what.

Speaker 4 (38:15):
Absper's up to. They are signing guys to pro tryout agreements.
I heard a practice yesterday. They had two guys that
have never played in American Hockey League. The three of
their defensemen are undrafted. It's chaos down there. I don't
even know what they're gonna ice for a lineup on
Friday in their home opener.

Speaker 1 (38:31):
But I did hear they raised the banner that night.

Speaker 4 (38:33):
By the I did hear that there's a rumor going
around the Canucks in Abosford might poke around and sign
UFA forward a jujar Kara, the clover They did that
last year. Yeah, they did that last year, the Cloverdale
clover Cloverdale kid and Donny this kid from Cloverdale, good kid,
and he came in last year, a big, heavy set guy,

(38:54):
four check body check fights.

Speaker 1 (38:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (38:56):
So there's a rumor going around, uh that they're checking
in on j Kahara. Who Donnie is a UFA not
playing right now? Friend of the show, Friend of the show.

Speaker 1 (39:06):
He's on the show. He's a good guy. Yeah. Cloverdale
Minor Hockey Cloverdale Colts and you know every Yeah, they
got good uniforms. I was just gonna say every time.
Really I was involved with Port Moody and uh, every
time we played Cloverdale be Oh those are great looking jerseys.
Oh like the Rangers.

Speaker 4 (39:24):
And and I love their rink by the horse track
the racetrack. There are they still using that old rink
because I don't think I've got there a rink in Cloverdale,
did I hear?

Speaker 9 (39:32):
No?

Speaker 1 (39:32):
I love that old lot of the old burns.

Speaker 5 (39:34):
No, But then is the racetrack gone? You're mister Cloverdale,
you're Cloverdale.

Speaker 1 (39:39):
I was.

Speaker 5 (39:39):
I don't live there anymore, but yeah, they are tearing down.
They're tearing down the horse track and the he is
racing no more.

Speaker 4 (39:46):
And they don't even.

Speaker 5 (39:47):
Fully know yet what exactly is going to be developed there,
so I don't really.

Speaker 1 (39:52):
I guess condos, condos. Maybe it's going to be condos maybe.

Speaker 5 (39:56):
Yeah, they're still using the old rink, the original rink,
and then the new rinking Cloverdale is open with two sheets,
I believe, and they've actually just approved funding for already
expanding it to a third.

Speaker 1 (40:06):
In any word on that minor hockey Association changing its uniforms. No,
I don't know they're gonna keep the snazzy ones. Yeah,
I don't know. The colts, the clovernol colts say it's
a great logo too. Doney love the Old Barnes Queens
Park Arena, oh agridim Yeah, the old Barnes are the
best Caresdale they got life history. John Shannon is going
to join us at the top of the hour, Big

(40:27):

Speaker 1 (41:52):
Okay, before we get to the meat of a big rye,
we understand Ryan baseide Ocean Front resort inbox. We have
a Cloverdale Harness Racing update.

Speaker 5 (42:02):
Yes, well this is unsigned and it's something that that
again I heard I read this in the in the
Surrey Leader that they were kicked out in very short
order right before racing was set to begin, and one
hundred and fifty people were out of work for no reason.
And think Cloverdale with the horse track. It's been very
very odd reporting out of Cloverdale and what they're doing

(42:25):
with that racetrack. So, and I believe Hasting's just closed too,
I think for the season. I had a buddy there
over the weekend. Yeah, but they're not they don't go
in the winter anyway.

Speaker 1 (42:34):
No.

Speaker 5 (42:35):
But and like I know this is probably blasphemous and
this this viewer would probably you know, kill me for
saying this, But I don't know. I think there's better
uses of land than a horse track in twenty twenty five. Again,
I no disrespect. I'm not saying athletically it's it's bad
or anything. I just don't I just don't see and Hastings.

Speaker 1 (42:55):
It's a fun day to go to.

Speaker 4 (42:57):
When was the last time you went to Hastings?

Speaker 1 (42:58):
Good point, right, I mean the earliest childhood memory is
for my dad did a lot of that sort of thing,
poker and horse.

Speaker 4 (43:05):
Racing, babysitting you at the track that's is.

Speaker 1 (43:08):
From X Park, what was called X Park of that?
But what what's happened to the talk of a stadium
being built?

Speaker 4 (43:15):
That's what I mean.

Speaker 5 (43:17):
Like those P and E grounds, that plot of land
I just feel can be used way better.

Speaker 4 (43:23):
And again I.

Speaker 1 (43:24):
Know a lot of people would have a problem with
the stadium being there too.

Speaker 5 (43:27):
Sure, sure, but I just don't Hastings is not packed.
Horse racing is not a big thing anymore in twenty five.

Speaker 4 (43:36):
Right, And that's not correct. It is racecourse. And Donnie
knows this because he just told you about his dad.
He's got a rich history, right, okay, right, and going
to the p and e right, head over to the racetrack.
It's got a rich history with a lot of great people, jockeys,
the horses, the trainers.

Speaker 1 (43:55):
I mean that, that's not fair to say.

Speaker 5 (43:57):
Okay, and again when last you went there, those are
all people working in that industry.

Speaker 1 (44:03):
That's not fair to say. Oh it just push them aside.

Speaker 5 (44:06):
Again, it's that's a massive plot of land in a
very expensive part of this area.

Speaker 1 (44:15):
The same thing. You can say the same thing about parks.
You can say the same thing about arenas. That sort
of thing. A lot of people don't use them, right,
not parks is a bad Examptly.

Speaker 5 (44:24):
Parks is a bad example. And arenas don't take up
A local arena doesn't take up the footprint. And by
the way, you show me a local arena that's not
being used.

Speaker 1 (44:32):
Oh my gosh, yeah.

Speaker 5 (44:33):
I mean again, everything history I know, absolutely, but to
keep it there for history's sake, I think it's wrong.

Speaker 1 (44:42):
I understand where Rick is coming from because it's part
of my family's, yeah, my dad's past. But I always
remember reading a story about how and look, baseball's had
a resurgence, how baseball and horse racing were the and
boxing where the bigger sports at the first half of
the twentieth century the nineteen hundreds. In it carried on

(45:04):
into the second half as well, and things have deteriorated
since then in North America anyway, with for me anyway,
horse racing and thing most people I know horse racing
and boxing, not so much baseball.

Speaker 5 (45:16):
And look at by the way, and I will say
the difference in Cloverdale is Cloverdale. They're tearing this thing down,
and again there's no clear path to what they're doing
with it. I disagree with that. And I'm not saying
knockdown Hastings for the sake of knocking down Hastings. But
if the white Caps were serious things right, if they're serious,
I'm sorry, that's a way better use of land in
twenty twenty five than having that race.

Speaker 1 (45:38):
You make the point about the footprint. If it is
that is the case with the stadium, there were probably
that's a giant piece of landshoe that would probably be
land left over for other things.

Speaker 4 (45:48):
Yeah, it would be a development situation, It would be.
It would be a mass development.

Speaker 1 (45:53):
Is it is sad though, and you hope there'll be
some other place for those people to find them play? Yeah?

Speaker 4 (45:59):
Absolutely, absolute? Okay, big right on the Twitter right now.

Speaker 5 (46:02):
Speaking of those white Caps, first of all, very quickly,
I wanted to mention this. This was announced yesterday, and
good on the white Caps, good on the white Cap fans.
Upper Bowl is open for this Sunday's first game of
the MLS Playoffs for the white Caps against Sunday four
thirty Dallas in Town Game one.

Speaker 4 (46:17):
On Apple TV. But the Upper Bowl is now open.

Speaker 5 (46:20):
Tickets are being sold for the Upper Bowl for the
Vancouver white Caps for that first game. We should also mention,
by the way, in line with the their the.

Speaker 4 (46:30):
Their other tenant that takes up BC place to BC Lions.

Speaker 5 (46:34):
The Western semi final tickets went on sale this morning
to the general public, so well, you know you can
buy those now in hopes that that semifinal game is
being played a bcy place.

Speaker 1 (46:45):
They know they do.

Speaker 4 (46:47):
They always they.

Speaker 1 (46:48):
Have to do.

Speaker 4 (46:49):
You have to do that.

Speaker 5 (46:49):
I mean, like, look at they've punched their ticket to
the playoffs. I know they don't have to date.

Speaker 1 (46:54):
I don't agree with that.

Speaker 4 (46:54):
I think you the clinch beat with Saskatchewan, then you
start selling playoff.

Speaker 5 (47:00):
But you want that run up, right, You want that,
you want that run up. You want to give you
want to give people time.

Speaker 4 (47:06):
I got, I get buy a playoff ticket.

Speaker 5 (47:08):
The lines losing sascatch, but now they got to go
on the road den wide, well they get, you get
refunded all these do.

Speaker 1 (47:14):
I mean my argument, sorry, is about karma. Karma. I
wouldn't like it. I know, I omar, if you're listening
to me out there, why.

Speaker 5 (47:21):
Are you selling tickets to a game that is not
a game yet? I get that, I understand that. But
the Mariners and Jays did that too well.

Speaker 1 (47:27):
The thing is, yeah, that I mean is in today's
busy society, people will find other things, make plans for that,
and yes, if you don't give them run, I understand absolutely,
but I have you know me, I have a problem
with karma.

Speaker 4 (47:42):
And look at sports teams very superstitious. I guess Saskatchewan
is going to be fielding a good team. Who's playing
center for siscatcha?

Speaker 1 (47:51):
Yeah get it?

Speaker 4 (47:54):
Speaking of the chase, that deployment center.

Speaker 1 (47:57):
Oh oh boy, that is uh the reach.

Speaker 5 (48:02):
Speaking of the Jays, how about this? This is from
Joe pomp Leiana, who covers sports business. This is via
tick Pick. Tick Pick is one of the I said,
tick one of the places where it's a secondary reseller
for sports tickets.

Speaker 4 (48:13):
These are the current World.

Speaker 5 (48:15):
Series prices, uh, for all seven games right now. Every
ticket more expensive in Toronto than it is in LA.
I know that's probably not a huge revelation. Three four
five are in LA. You see them there, just under
eight hundred bucks.

Speaker 1 (48:29):
You don't think that's a huge revelation. I think a
lot of people would assume it was the other way around.

Speaker 4 (48:33):
More in La. Yeah, after exactly bored. The Dodgers are
not good for baseball. I I one hundred percent agree.
You spent a billion dollar agree like enough is enough?
Like these guys should have not breaking the rules though, no,
not breaking the rules down, but it's not. The rules
are not good for baseball. We'll give you that.

Speaker 5 (48:52):
And we were just joking about the Jay's getting swept. Honestly,
if that happens, it's.

Speaker 4 (48:57):
Horrible for baseball.

Speaker 5 (48:58):
It's not a good it's horrible for It's Otani is
amazing to watch Otwani, like it's a spectacle every night.

Speaker 4 (49:06):
But if they go and blow out the J's in
four games, that sucks. Man, That like, that's not good
for baseball.

Speaker 1 (49:13):
That is the most obvious in the world. But it's hitting.

Speaker 4 (49:16):
But you're surprised that the price is.

Speaker 1 (49:20):
Outside looking in that. You know, people look, people the
States don't know a lot about Toronto. This just in
the other thing in the outside, looking at palm Trees,
Beverly Hills, Jed Plumpet, everybody. Everybody has tons of money
down in Los Angeles, in California.

Speaker 5 (49:36):
Yeah, and by the way, Doug Ford is apparently putting
forth legislation because there's a massive uproar in Toronto right now.

Speaker 4 (49:44):
But reselling and issues with tickets and all of.

Speaker 5 (49:47):
That with the Jays and and and bots coming into play,
Like people are getting notifications about a ticket drop, they
sign on and they're gone in ten seconds. Then they're
resold later for you know, five thousand dollars. So it's
it's out of control. But this is what happens with
these big events, and I hate to say it. They
did just not enough guardrails in place. I wish it
was easier than it is, but this is the way

(50:09):
it is. And right now, the cheapest ticket for Game
one for the Toronto World Series eight seventy five.

Speaker 4 (50:16):
So there you go.

Speaker 1 (50:17):
Lie May Climp had also had money. Yeah, those are
Beverly Hill Billies. Beverly Hill Billies. What a great show.
Their intro was incredible.

Speaker 5 (50:26):
By the way, A source close to the show is
telling me that Hastings Racecourse lease is up okay, and
they're not sure if it's going to be renewed. And
I remember that now being part of the white Caps conversation. Yeah,
that was one of the reasons why they were looking
at that site is because of this lease issue and
what is the future of the racetrack on the Hastings site.

Speaker 4 (50:46):
So we'll see.

Speaker 1 (50:47):
You know what, here's a I know we're out of
time here, but Bayside Ocean Front Resort inbox Jeff and Abbotsford.
I hate to bring it up, but it is reality. Remember, guys,
that betting is strongly associated with horse racing. Could be
detrimental to many people's families, so also an issue as well. Yeah,
but I say, but the thing, the thing is though

(51:09):
they there and this is we're talking about private land here,
there are casinos out there.

Speaker 5 (51:14):
Well I was gonna say, like, wasn't betting linked with
horse rading, Like you had to go yes to place bets? Now,
I mean you don't have to go use your phone
at home. Yeah, bet three sixty five, play now whatever
you want. Sports betting is out of care, so that
that piece that used to link the horse track to
people is gone because you can do it wherever now.

Speaker 1 (51:33):
And there was a time in your life where you
wanted to be a jockey. That's not I'm too tall
to be a jockey.

Speaker 4 (51:39):
You are, Yeah, let's the average height.

Speaker 1 (51:42):
But we do know some guys five feet five feet
and they have to their diets are incredibly strict. Well,
how do you know about a jockey.

Speaker 4 (51:50):
We did stories on them as oh wow, yeah, that's
yeahs delayed great.

Speaker 1 (51:56):
Uh Tommy, Tommy Wallsky was so good. He was so good.

Speaker 4 (52:00):
Tommy was the number one guy for the media. We
used to have a jockey, Yeah, yeah, that's right, he was.

Speaker 1 (52:05):
I see to remember Tommy who wasn't the tallest, biggest
guy in the world. He was was he was? I
believe he had to really was considered too big.

Speaker 4 (52:15):
Yeah, well, then the media, there's no one in the
media that can do that.

Speaker 7 (52:19):
Well, yeah, you're not Trevor. For Trevor Henders camera guy.
The camera guy kidding Trevor. I'm just I don't want
to get on.

Speaker 1 (52:31):
His bad side. You don't, but I could see Squire
barn No, I'm what are you saying Squire's under five?
Is that what you're saying? No, I didn't say that'd
be the time with guys who weren't the biggest guys
in the world of the media. There are other people.
There's there's a lot of guys that are way too big.

(52:54):
The horse was on my back. There's a couple of
the candidates the media. Some I'm working radio.

Speaker 5 (53:01):
Yes, okay, Sandon ups Isner, calendar could do it.

Speaker 4 (53:09):
The horse, there's a visual Tony on the horse. Let's
go Jege Shanny next Toney the team I check.

Speaker 1 (53:18):
Hey everyone, it's Donnie and Dunny and we're looking to
partner with your company.

(54:14):
five to one in Pittsburgh last night. They play in
Nashville tomorrow as the city of Toronto gets ready for
Game one of the World Series Friday at Rogers Center,
Jay's and Dodgers. We bring in from the one hundred
Percent Hockey Podcast on Canucks, John Shannon, Thanks for doing
this there, How are you.

Speaker 10 (54:34):
Okay? So to finish the jockey conversation?

Speaker 1 (54:40):
All right?

Speaker 11 (54:41):
You go and listen to the podcast and there's not
enough punctuation between. There are some guys in the media
that should never be jockeys. John Shannon is next, So
we need to make sure that there's at least a period,
you know, and that most most of it's on Ryan. Yeah, definitely,

(55:04):
most of it's on Ryan. There's got to be a
longer pause before you talk about those types of things
and me not being able to be a job.

Speaker 1 (55:11):
Well, we'll do some magical editing, John, and everything.

Speaker 10 (55:15):
Will work like a giant pause. Please.

Speaker 1 (55:18):
Okay, So, miss mister television record setting TV numbers for
Sportsnet for the Alcs, can you put into words how
excited the city of Toronto is right now for the
Blue Jayson Game one of the World Series.

Speaker 11 (55:34):
So excited that the Toronto Maple Leafs have actually changed
their dart time on Saturday. I mean, that is a crazy,
crazy situation when you think about it, that the mayple
Leafs would never change a start time. Now they're owned
by the same company now, which makes it easier. But

(55:54):
this would be unheard of that the maple Leafs would
would change a start time.

Speaker 10 (56:01):
Now it will. It will help the congestion in downtown Toronto.

Speaker 11 (56:05):
If you could imagine, it'd be like having a Stanley
Cup Final game at Rogers Arena and the Gray Cup
game across the street. It's gonna be chaos in Toronto
on Saturday. Not as bad on Friday, but chaos. And
I've just gone to my bank and I've got out

(56:25):
a second mortgage so i can buy a standing harm
only ticket.

Speaker 10 (56:28):
So it's crazy. Prices are crazy.

Speaker 1 (56:31):
Crazy, yeah, and crazier in Toronto, I understand. We just
ran a board here. Crazier in Toronto than they are
in Los Angeles.

Speaker 10 (56:40):
Well, you know, the this is a drought. Yeah, this
is a drought.

Speaker 11 (56:47):
It's nineteen ninety three since the Jays were in a
World Series. This is a you know, and when you
look at the history of franchises in Toronto, really one
championship the Raptors in twenty nineteen, since nineteen sixty seven,
And you know, the baseball team is a fascinating thing

(57:11):
because there's a lot more pride in the baseball team,
not just in Toronto, but across the country. And I
think people in Toronto take a lot of pride in that.
That's something in Toronto, Canadians in Western Canada Canadians in
the Maritimes, Canadians in Quebec, like Toronto for at least

(57:32):
three hours a night when the Blue Jays are playing.

Speaker 1 (57:35):
And John, we're going to get a text and emails
about this if I don't point it out. But there
have been Argonaut great Cup victory since nineteen sixty seven.
But let's be let's be realistic here. Don't create the
buzz that the other teams do.

Speaker 11 (57:49):
Listen when there's a parade for the Raptors and there's
two million people and there's a parade for the Argos
and it can be confined to Nathan Phillips Square, there's
a difference.

Speaker 5 (58:01):
Yep, yeah, absolutely, all right, let's talk about the Canucks.
You know what you know, where prices are high, John
is for a second line center, and boy, Canucks are
in tough to get a center of that ilk second
line heatal. We don't know how long he's going to
be out, John, would it surprise you if they make
a deal this week to get going, because I know

(58:24):
prices are high and they're calling everybody right now.

Speaker 11 (58:27):
Well, you know, Rick, I think it'd be easier to
list the teams not looking for a second line center.
In this league, right, I mean, is there twenty Are
there twenty five teams looking for a second line center? No,
maybe twenty five or twenty six teams looking for somebody
of that ilk. Yeah, so the Canucks are not alone
in what they're trying to do to improve the hockey club.

Speaker 10 (58:49):
Would it surprise me?

Speaker 11 (58:51):
No, I mean, these guys have never been afraid to
pull the trigger on deals. At the same time, I
just you can't sell your soul for that position if
you if you don't have very much to sell. I mean,
I think that that's part of the thing to look
at it. It's a really tough situation. And I mean

(59:12):
we don't know Heatle's health issue at all. Right now
that becomes I mean, Patrick and Jim probably have a
better idea. But at the same time, I think you
have to be cautious. Even if they say he can
be back in seven to ten days, you have to
be cautious of what you can and can't do with
Heatle in the long term.

Speaker 4 (59:32):
Well, he might be at that point John where he's
got to think long term, family, kids, all that stuff too.

Speaker 10 (59:39):
Absolutely, And.

Speaker 11 (59:42):
You know, the decision really isn't the hockey clubs the
decision is Philip Heatle's. And you know, he believed in
the summertime that he was in a much better position.
He was strengthening his upper body, he was strengthening the
muscles in his necks so that he could adapt better
to you know, physical contact in the NHL. But nothing

(01:00:04):
adapts you to a Tom Wilson hit, that's for sure.

Speaker 10 (01:00:07):
Nothing.

Speaker 4 (01:00:08):
Oh boy, he's a missile when he hits. One of
the best open ice hitters in the National Hockey League. Hey,
all we heard about was the Winnipeg Jets lost eelers.
They're going to go to the bottom of the standings,
They're not going to make the playoffs. Well, guess what
I'm looking at the NHL overall standings, Winnipeg is third.

Speaker 1 (01:00:25):
They won five in a row. Boy, these guys there's
something there.

Speaker 6 (01:00:28):
You know.

Speaker 1 (01:00:29):
That's a good franchise ownership on down John.

Speaker 11 (01:00:33):
And they're doing it without Adam Lowry, Cole Perfetti and
Dylan Samberg right now. And what they are really doing
in many ways is beyond Mark Seiflee, who obviously is
having a maybe a career start to a season. They're
doing it with special teams, their power plays in the
top five, and their penalty kill guys has only allowed

(01:00:55):
one power play goal against, and that was in the
first game of the season, the only and they lost
to Dallas and since then they have been perfect. So
they have they're doing it a little differently this time around.
The other thing to be said is, you know, and
I know it's ancient history, but the Pierre Luke Dubois

(01:01:16):
trade that they made, Yes, when you consider that, Alex
Eya follow is a big part of this club, and
he's you know, he plays all four lines. He plays
on the power play right now because Profetti can't uh
and then he kills penalties as well. And then and
then gave Ballardi, who's that winger with great hands. I

(01:01:38):
think he's only got two goals, but he's playing well
with Scheifley, with and Connor. You know, they are such
a deep hockey club there are They are such a
deep hockey club and it's amazing, and you know, that
allows you not to talk about Connor Hellibuck, who's I
think the best goaltender in the game right now. And

(01:01:59):
the guy that does get any attention and deserves a
ton of attention is Josh Morrissey. You know, Josh Morrissey
is just a great, quiet superstar in this league. He's
done some great stuff. You know, it's ten years now
he came out of Kelowna and the Rockets and has
he's just been spectacular, albeit without looking for a lot

(01:02:23):
of limelight. He's just a simple, effective player and you
know he's worked his way on to be a I
think one of the top six defensemen in Canada and
we're going to see him in Italy in February.

Speaker 1 (01:02:34):
Okay, and one more quickly. When it comes to the Jets,
I would imagine they have to be extremely pleased. I
know what's early with Jonathan Tave's come back. He gets
his first goal as a Jet the other night, one goal,
a three assists, a big face offs, He's averaging seventeen
minutes a night. John.

Speaker 11 (01:02:51):
I think the one thing you touched on there, Donnie,
that's the key is big face off. You know, he
you know he's going to be He's going to get
fifty five to sixty percent the face offs and what's
what's you know this that was always the Achilles Heel
for this hockey club.

Speaker 10 (01:03:06):
You know, when they went deep into.

Speaker 11 (01:03:07):
That series in Saint Louis, you know, they were losing
the face off war, they lost the face off war
against Dallas. Jonathan Taves puts them in really good stead.
And just imagine Adam Lowry's coming back within two weeks.

Speaker 1 (01:03:21):
Uh and uh.

Speaker 11 (01:03:22):
And the other thing is they got a young guy
as their fourth line center, Morgan Baron, who has really
taken off. So they they might have shifely Taves, Lowry Baron.
They might have the deepest top four centers in the
National Hockey League. And as you know what they say,
Rick talks about it all the time, strength down the middle,

(01:03:44):
and that's the key to the Winnipeg Jets.

Speaker 1 (01:03:47):
Would the Jets consider a trading Taves to Vancouver, It's.

Speaker 4 (01:03:52):
A joke, Rick, Come on, it's a joke.

Speaker 1 (01:03:54):
I got I got it.

Speaker 11 (01:03:55):
Jonathan Taves was only going to play one place.

Speaker 10 (01:03:57):
You know that as well as.

Speaker 1 (01:03:58):
How old time we've been talking a lot about the
Caducks and face offs today. That's why, Oh yeah, I
joked about that. Yeah.

Speaker 11 (01:04:05):
Well you know what, hey, listen, give the give them
some credit. You know they won that game in Washington
on fumes. Yeah, you know, they got out played by
sid in the second period. Particularly in Pittsburgh and you know,
if they can find a way to muster something in Nashville,
if if they come home four and one, that has

(01:04:27):
to be considered a major, major character victory for this
hockey club.

Speaker 1 (01:04:31):
You wouldn't note by the emails and texts for getting today,
but I totally agree with you, John.

Speaker 11 (01:04:36):
Yeah, Hey, listen, listen in this town and listen to
the town I live in. They were all over the
Blue Jay pitching for the last two months of the season. Yeah,
and now they're going to the World Series.

Speaker 1 (01:04:47):
Yeah, you know, just saying nothing like passion. Hey, John,
thanks for this. Next week, cheers boys, you bet. John

Speaker 4 (01:05:58):
Ryan, get her up the wadling dog pull question and
do you agree with Adam Foot's ice time deployment for
the Cannuck forwards last night? And eighty percent say no,
they were not happy with that, but nineteen or sorry,
twenty percent say yes. The seven hundred plus votes we
posted it up a little bit late today, so.

Speaker 1 (01:06:16):
There you go. I had it wrong. I said that
the people were positive towards Adam, but negative or not.
They're they're negative. They're saying he did do a good
job last night or at two for example fifteen six
five on five, Petterson nine twenty eight, debrask seven thirty

(01:06:36):
and of course, in the case of Peterson, keep in
mind that total ice time included PK and power play,
which a lot of people have pointed out. But it's
just interesting in a game where you're behind, albeit late
in the second periods when they really fell behind, you
didn't use the player who would You would could argue
most likely to help you get back into the game offensively.

Speaker 4 (01:06:59):
You're paying Paterson eleven million and he five forwards played
more ice than him last night.

Speaker 1 (01:07:04):
That's not right, Don.

Speaker 4 (01:07:05):
He needs to get up to nineteen twenty minutes a game.
He can't be at fifteen sixteen.

Speaker 1 (01:07:09):
That's not right.

Speaker 4 (01:07:10):
They're not utilizing him right. Even though he's only got
four points, he's on pace for again, Don forty five points.

Speaker 1 (01:07:17):
Yes, Er Sorenson to the banker of a white Caps
head coach. He's going to join us on our show tomorrow.
White Caps versus FC Dallas again game one because they
just played the final game of the regular season on Saturday,
but on Sunday they will play at BC, who plays
game one of their best of three BC Lions have
that important season ending game, regular season ending game Saturday

(01:07:40):
in Saskatchewan. Win and the Lions host the Western semifinal
today and Rick, maybe you can handle this. The Lions
announced their team award winners, led by friend of the
show on the show yesterday. Nathan Rourke. Oh boy, this.

Speaker 4 (01:07:54):
One's just a simple most Outstanding Player. There's nobody else
you can go to Nathan Rourke as the guy. Most
Outstanding Canadian. Nathan Rourke. He's the best Canadian quarterback.

Speaker 1 (01:08:03):
Do you think that Nick Hebler was a candidate?

Speaker 4 (01:08:06):
Nick Kebler is my favorite BC lineup all the time.
Good palla mind I love Nick. Anyways, look at this Donnie.
Most Outstanding Defensive Player, Matthew Betts. He's really turned it
on in the last six eight weeks. Absolutely, Most Outstanding
Offensive Lineman, Jirell Broxton, Most Outstanding Special teamsman, Sean White
the kicker from White Rock. Most Outstanding Rookie, Robert Carter Junior.

(01:08:32):
That's not Eric Carter's kid, is it?

Speaker 6 (01:08:33):
No?

Speaker 1 (01:08:34):
Okay?

Speaker 4 (01:08:35):
Eric Carter was a great defensive back for the BC
lines as well.

Speaker 1 (01:08:39):
Absolutely, Darrell Broxton. You read a lot of articles, talk
to people. It's believed that he will win the league
Most Outstanding Offensive Lineman and it would be hard to
not pick. Well, Nathan Work's going to be most Outstanding Canadian,
Most Outstanding Player. It's between him and I believe Bulivi Mitchell.

(01:08:59):
Mitchell to Nathan If I'm no mistaken is having the
better second half.

Speaker 4 (01:09:04):
Oh but Nathan missed the James too. Yeah, you know
think about that. Where where's Nathan's stats if he doesn't
miss those two?

Speaker 1 (01:09:11):
Yeah, and second behind bowl Levi Mitchell in passing yardage,
eighth in rushing yardage. And we saw what he was
up to against Edmonton last weekend. That seven yard touchdown
run was just a spectacular and Robert Carter Junior has
made speaking of spectacular, all sorts of spectacular interceptions for
the Lions. He's really been noticeable. Yeah. Absolutely, you just

(01:09:35):
said it. You nailed it. The other thing is Tony
what are you laughing at? Guy? No, I listen.

Speaker 4 (01:09:41):
But do we do we appreciate in Vancouver what we
have with Nathan Rourke probably the greatest Canadian quarterback of
all time, dot the last great Canadian quarterback of this city.

Speaker 1 (01:09:50):
He was our buddy. Uh, Julio Julio Julia Carve. Don't
forget Greg Vavra. Greg Vava was Calgary back in the nineties.
We played for the Lions too, a little bit, not
a toime, but.

Speaker 4 (01:10:01):
Mostly he did his good work in Calgary, Greg Vavra.
But let's get out there and let's support a Canadian
kid who's playing in an American skill position and he's
doing a damn good job. He's gonna go down in
the record books as the best Canadian quarterback of all
the time.

Speaker 1 (01:10:16):
Do we appreciate that enough? I don't think we do. Okay,
all right, Okay, let's get back to the Canucks for
a second. This is an interesting text into our bayside
oceanfront resort inbox. It's it's unsigned. Any possibility PD was
hurt blocking all those shots in Washington at the end

(01:10:36):
of the game. It wasn't just two shots two of
Veskan shots that he blocked at the end of the
game to seal to help seal that win. It was
three and that and that same audit. Did you see
him on the two on one or he first done
he stole the pot question? No, I don't think he's hurt.
I have not heard anything this morning about him being hurt.
H He had a good first period. He set up

(01:10:56):
Garland now and then he gets the defensive turnover, goes
up the ice two on one. He looked pretty good
in the first period. Okay, you've got some business to do.

Speaker 3 (01:11:06):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (01:11:06):
Absolutely, look at this.

Speaker 4 (01:11:08):
Absolutely check out the largest selection of sports member billy
autographed items, trading cards and collectible games in Western Canada.
Pastime Sports Saturday, November twenty second Pastime in Langley. It's
gonna be Jake DeBras for an exclusive in store signing.
Jonathan Lecaramaki is still to be announced. And then we

(01:11:28):
got Canucks legend Trevor Lindon. He's partnered up with Pastime
Sports for a private autograph event. Details on that are
available at pastime sports dot CAA laptop.

Speaker 5 (01:11:38):
We've just been told with how little Jake's playing during games,
he's gonna start to sign autographs during the game as well.

Speaker 3 (01:11:44):
Well.

Speaker 1 (01:11:44):
He'll be well arrested for that.

Speaker 5 (01:11:45):
Events a segue. That was a segue by you. I
meant to have this on the desk yesterday and I forgot.
But look at this on the far right, Panini Exclusive
twenty twenty five NBA Champion OKAC thunder Box of Cards
ok SE in action last night to kick off the
NBA season. Card of the Day in the middle future
Kanuck question mark NASM Cadri.

Speaker 4 (01:12:07):
That's one of the upper decked series on cards flash
Those are nice? Was that the outdoor game? No though
I think they were made maybe for the outdoor game.

Speaker 1 (01:12:17):
I think those were the outdoor game. That shot isn't
from the outdo no, but I think they use those.
But into that.

Speaker 4 (01:12:24):
Yeah, we're looking at it. Stop with the nasm, Kaudre Ryan,
you know it's out there talking about trade. You think
the Flames are going to send that guy to in
division into Vancouver.

Speaker 1 (01:12:35):
Come on, if they've made trades with the Flames before
and what happened there?

Speaker 4 (01:12:39):
Both guys the Calgary said to Vancouver left after four months.

Speaker 1 (01:12:43):
Yeah, okay, Lewis and Holman is the d of Let's
not forget Paul Ryan Hard back in the day, Danson, this.

Speaker 4 (01:12:49):
Is different circumstance because as.

Speaker 5 (01:12:52):
You're stopping my reminiscing, the Flames would literally be giving
the Canucks a lifeboat.

Speaker 4 (01:13:00):
I mean, that ain't not gonna happen.

Speaker 1 (01:13:02):
By the way, is it life preserver or like whatever
it is?

Speaker 4 (01:13:05):
Quickly Canucks are on the ice in Nashville.

Speaker 5 (01:13:07):
Some notes out of Nashville, Christian Dan Murphy are good,
Pal Murph, no best or blue grit Canucks game in
Nashville today?

Speaker 4 (01:13:14):
Also, how about this for the paronic absent from practice today? Okay,
So well Landers there right, So he's going to make
his NHL debut tomorrow.

Speaker 1 (01:13:23):
Yes, so their place of Pierre Olivier Joseph.

Speaker 3 (01:13:26):
No.

Speaker 4 (01:13:27):
If if it can't go, they got the right shot
d there to step in.

Speaker 1 (01:13:32):
But you read articles that he would be playing anyway, Yes,
Nashville over Peter Joseph Olivier.

Speaker 4 (01:13:43):
Yeah, or something like that, poj That's why I said
the name right, Pierre Joseph Olivier. Forward lines are the
same as last night as well.

Speaker 1 (01:13:51):
Pierre Joseph. What did I say?

Speaker 4 (01:13:54):
You said, Pierre Joseph Olivier. No, Pierre Olivier Joseph.

Speaker 1 (01:13:59):
I got weird things from last night's game. I had
a hard time watching Lebate wearing number fourteen. Sty Shorty
brought that up. Yeah, and then and then po Joseph
wearing number seven. What happened to the seventh man? Yeah,
nobody remembers it.

Speaker 4 (01:14:14):
No, come on number seven, Griff Ronning.

Speaker 5 (01:14:17):
Oh, Brendan Morrison, West Coast Express, friend of the show,
my favorite Canuck all time?

Speaker 4 (01:14:25):
Who Brendan Morrison?

Speaker 1 (01:14:27):
Cliff rowing from North Burnaby. So I'll do a shocker,
all due respect to Brendan Morrison, just a slight notch below.

Speaker 4 (01:14:34):
Yes, I had a stick company. I think that you
might have dabbled with as well.

Speaker 1 (01:14:39):

(01:15:57):

I want to talk about the BC Sports Hall of Fame.
They've had a reception on Monday, which I was honored
to be a part of, and then yesterday they celebrated
their twenty twenty five induction class with a banquet at
the Hotel Vancouver and among the people getting into the

(01:16:22):
BC Sports Hall of Fame twenty twenty five of our
friend Ray Ferraro, Okay, Christine Sinclair, doctor Saul Miller, sports
psychologist from this area who has worked with every pods
and the connuction, NHL, NBA, NFL, CFL, baseball, you name it,

(01:16:43):
and it was at a time Saul, he's third from
the left in the back row there, I believe, at
a time where sports psychology wasn't widely used. He's ahead
of the curve. I'm just saying that he was ahead
of the He even helped us at Sports Page like
with what we were doing on the air. So it's

(01:17:05):
just good for him forgetting it among the other inductees
as a team. You see Jamie Terriss there far right

He still works for the BC list great offensive.

Speaker 1 (01:17:26):
Yeah, as he works in the community with the BC Allions,
does a great job. And he was I believe a
multiple time winner CFL Most Outstanding Alignment. He started out
with the Lions as a fullback, made the switch and
away he went. Good pal of ours.

Speaker 4 (01:17:40):
Jamie Terris just absolutely loved Jamie.

Speaker 1 (01:17:43):
Yeah. I know this obviously meant a lot to everybody,
but Ray has talked about it and obviously meant a

Trail and then he got traded. Remember he got traded

Speaker 1 (01:19:12):
His parents owned Cougar shoes. That doesn't mean he can't
be Checkles a Vakian. Yeah, google it. Well maybe he

Rick Lands is not Ron settle bar.

Speaker 4 (01:19:24):

Somebody there had him as a big checkles A Vakian guy.

Speaker 1 (01:19:32):
Anyway, he's born in Burlington, Ontario.

Speaker 4 (01:19:35):
Okay, but so if you're born in Burlington, you can't
be checkles A Vaciate.

Speaker 1 (01:19:39):
Still I've never heard that. No parents, grandparents and all
that stuff. Is Settle Bauer at check name sounds German.

Okay, look, I'm gonna do my research. I did my research,
he said, check o this is.

Speaker 1 (01:20:35):
You might want to get somebody else to do that
research from now on. Hey, I'm gonna blame Google. Google
gave me that. You think I made it up? I
don't know. Okay, Hell, how's the cron Royal last night?

Speaker 3 (01:20:46):
No?

Speaker 4 (01:20:47):
I don't do drink on weekdays, only on weekends.

Speaker 1 (01:20:49):

ninety four Quebec International Peve Hockey Tournament, second round pick

deadline delt to the Canucks from Matt.

Speaker 1 (01:21:29):
Okay, hey, line too, you have any information? Yeah, there
we go.

Speaker 5 (01:21:33):
This Lower Mainland native and forward played forty two games
in the NHL, none for the Canucks. Also represented Canada's
national team in several international tournaments. Spent a decade playing
professional hockey in Europe. What year, never mind, he's done
former Richmond Saki when though, what does it matter?

Speaker 1 (01:21:54):
When you should know this? Are you talking about Dave Thomlinson. Yes, okay,
his birthday recently though, No, it was his birthday yesterday.
There was two Dave Thomlinson's who played in the NHL.
Have you got the right one? Dave played for the Jets.

Speaker 4 (01:22:08):
Case of the leafs our good pal. Dave Thomlinson's birthday
is made the eighth.

Speaker 1 (01:22:12):
Yeah, not that, So I got the second Dave Thomlinson. Yeah,
I don't know you there's.

Speaker 12 (01:22:16):
Two Dave Thomlinson's both and he like set born. You said, listen,
I spent a lot of time in this last time. Okay,
that's that's very sad. There's two Dave Thomlinson's. Got the
second one.

Speaker 4 (01:22:34):
Happy belated, Dave, Listen. Hey buzz saw forward won for
Stanley Cups with the Islanders. You better get this, buzz
Saw buzz Saw. He played eleven hundred games in the
NHL only one hundred and two Penley minutes the lowest
in NHL. Butch Goin Yeah it's butchcoin And we all
remember the helmet, the distinctive helmet, which we had two

(01:22:56):
of them. Yeah, yeah, two of them. But anyways, Butch
Gooring turned seventy six today. Just do I watching him
big time coach, absolutely analysts on the Islanders.

Speaker 1 (01:23:05):
Okay, get him on the show.

Speaker 4 (01:23:06):
This guy began his acting career in the Charles Bronson
movie Deaf Wish Back in nineteen seventy four.

Speaker 1 (01:23:13):
You and I remember that movie. He was a good movie,
all right.

Speaker 4 (01:23:15):
He was also in the Invasion of the Body Snatchers
in nineteen seventy eight.

Speaker 1 (01:23:19):
Donald Sutherland Nope, no with Donald Sutherlan, Yes with Donald.

Speaker 4 (01:23:24):
His first big movie was The Fly Jeff Goldblum, Goldbloom
nineteen eighty six, I knew you get it? And of course,
uh Jurassic Park and a great actor last one. This
guy's an actor to this actor for his role in
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, lived in a mental
institution for several weeks to study the patience for his character.

Speaker 1 (01:23:48):
He did.

Speaker 4 (01:23:49):
That was a great movie, don you and I remember
that flew over the Oscar winner.

Speaker 1 (01:23:53):
Yeah, Oscar Nichols saw. He was that a great crew.

Speaker 4 (01:23:56):
He played Judge Dooman who framed Roger Rabbit. He was
a part of the cast of the TV sitcom Taxi.

Speaker 1 (01:24:05):
Oh, Christopher Lloyd. Christopher Lloyd.

Speaker 4 (01:24:09):
Yeah, there you go, run yeah, Rick, Oh well look
at this.

Speaker 1 (01:24:14):
Look at this.

Speaker 4 (01:24:15):
Ron settle Bauer was zeckles A vakium.

Speaker 13 (01:24:17):
Ye this right, sattle Bauer im to Canada in nineteen
thirty from Chak.

Speaker 1 (01:24:25):
Derek.

Speaker 4 (01:24:26):
Derek's backing you out.

Speaker 1 (01:24:27):
Apologies right now, both of you. Apologies. But he was
born in Bertaine.

Speaker 5 (01:24:32):
But you're allowed to say checkles a vacuum if he
came in nineteen thirty as a checkles A vacuum from Czechosa, Vakia,
so I could.

Speaker 1 (01:24:40):
My grandparents came from Ukraine, I can say that I'm Ukraine.
I'm just I'm I'm on the right track. Thank you, Derek,
Thank you, I see you guys rip and tear well.

Speaker 4 (01:24:51):
Thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:24:51):
You know what, Thanks to you and Derek. We're educated, y, Yes,
we can't thank you.

Speaker 4 (01:24:56):
Ron settle Bauer had a checkles a vacuum background.

Speaker 1 (01:24:59):
There you go. What was their background when it came
to shoes, because they owned that company, the Cougar.

Speaker 13 (01:25:05):
Shoes that his dad worked for, a Bata shoe company
in Czechoslovakia.

Speaker 1 (01:25:11):
Oh that's why. And Bata shoes you still see them
in Europe. You don't see them here anymore. Put that
in your pipe.

Speaker 4 (01:25:21):
You said it was cougar shoes. They own cugar shoes
they did. Yeah, yeah, and he used to do ads
for them.

Speaker 1 (01:25:25):
Yeah. Ronett had the greer and in the Czech Republic.
You know what you educated us?

Speaker 5 (01:25:32):
Today we think thank you, apologies right anytime, You're more
than welcome.

Speaker 6 (01:25:39):
Uh?

Speaker 1 (01:25:39):
Is it just be coming up? The late Bobby Fuller
born in this day in nineteen forty two. He's gonna
help play us out from October nineteen sixty five in
the album of the same name. This is the Bobby
Fuller four Rick and I Fought the Law on check
Hits twenty four to seven on a BC Wednesday morning.

Speaker 4 (01:25:58):
Is it just me?

Speaker 1 (01:25:59):
It's next? Honey? The team a checking.

Speaker 5 (01:26:09):

Speaker 1 (01:26:56):
Is it just me? Rick on a lot of time?
Go all right? Just me?

Speaker 4 (01:27:00):
Or maybe uh reacquiring Kuzmenko could be a good idea.
Let's not forget he helped Petterson get a one hundred
points Bobby from Poco, that's a good, uh submission. I'll
tell you why, Donnie. You know, Patterson did have a
good time with Cousmeenko. They did feed off each other,
and since Kuzmenko left, he has not really had that
guy on his wing that he's had the chemistry with.

(01:27:21):
So that's a good submission there from Bobby and Poco.

Speaker 1 (01:27:24):
Oh no, no, And not the only person in the
inbox to mention that, as outrageous as it sounds, bringing
back Kuzmenko didn't have a good ending here or in
Calgary or Philadelphia, found a home in Los Angeles. That
is a fact that that he was on Peterson's line.
They didn't have a great season that year though. As
a team. Callan Langley is just me Rick telling people

(01:27:46):
to get out and support the team. A guy that
has never seen the end of a game or the
end of his late night Friday movie. This is cal
in Langley and you you going on and on about
supporting a team. Oh no, no, no, You're talking about
support the Toronto Blue Jays. So next time you go
on your anti Toronto rats, well remember that. No stop.

Speaker 4 (01:28:07):
I only leave a football game if it's out of hand,
and then I'll leave with two minutes left. Trade lancan
and to the Oilers for NuGen Hopkins. Give the Oilers
a chance to win the Cup. I want to I
see a lot of trade Lincoln, and I do want
to get this out to everybody. Lancoln It's got a
no trade for the first two years of his new contract.
He cannot be traded. It's not a trade list. It's

(01:28:28):
a he can agree to be traded like JT.

Speaker 1 (01:28:31):
Milner done.

Speaker 4 (01:28:32):
The reason they did the deal and structured it the
way they did in Vancouver because Lank and his agent
said this, He's bounced around Chicago, Nashville minors. He watched stability,
so the Vancouver Canucks gave him a no trade for
the first two years. When you watch stability, you can't
just get out so wrong. They're done that they put

(01:28:52):
a no trade.

Speaker 1 (01:28:52):
But nobody if somebody said to Kevin lancoln and you know,
thanks for the information on that, and Ron settle Barer.
But if if somebody said, Kevin has a chance to
go to Abonton and help them win a Stanley Cup.
They're closer than the Cadocks. Maybe maybe he says, I'm
okay with the the no move clause, on the no
trade clause, and away you go. That's just that's maybe

(01:29:14):
the way I would react. Is it just me onside?
Or is Adam Foot moving in the same direction as
he did when coaching the Colona Rockets. I guess this
is unsigned again. I guess this was the situation in Colona. Rick,
Maybe you could tell me the situation at Colna. Was
player deployment an issue during his one year with the
coaching the Rockets.

Speaker 4 (01:29:34):
He didn't have a good time. It wasn't a good
It wasn't a good team either. God, but I can't
remember if that was an issue. They were hosting the
Memorial Cup. It was just a gong show every year
in Colonna.

Speaker 1 (01:29:43):
But again, twenty four hours ago, we're praising at a reason.
Everybody is three wins in a row? Okay, a break
will wrap up the show of the poll? Question? Next?
Do he telling the team on Jack? Dog? Paul Rick?
Righting up? Dog Pop Pole? Question?

Speaker 4 (01:30:01):
Do you agree with Adam Foot's ice deployment for the
Canucks forwards last night? Eighty one percent say no, they
weren't happy with it, but twenty percent say, you know what,
We're fine with it. Seven hundred and ninety five votes.
Already starting to hop and bop.

Speaker 1 (01:30:15):
We're we don't have much time here. Pictures? Do you
have any? Yeah? We do? Where are we going run? Well?

Speaker 4 (01:30:21):
First of all, we've got to apologize to Leon and Vernon.

Speaker 5 (01:30:24):
Leon and Vernon, you sent us your lion's photo and
I deleted it by accident.

Speaker 4 (01:30:28):

River guy though.

Speaker 5 (01:31:01):
What one other photo? Very quickly, but we'll sneak in here.
This is from Chris who actually tweeted it to us yesterday,
perfect fall, remote day with this show in the background.
Then he had our show on and he's got his
uh look at this.

Speaker 4 (01:31:15):
You've got the Halloween decorations going, the little.

Speaker 1 (01:31:17):
Pumpkin lights, Mickey Mouse there the TV.

Speaker 4 (01:31:20):
Yeah, there you go, So thank you, Chris, appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (01:31:23):
Or is that mister Marbles. No, it was Mickey the
mister Marbles episode, the creepy Kenny Rodgers. Yeah, episode, mister Marbles.

Speaker 4 (01:31:36):
No, there was so much that happened in that episode.
Elaine with the expense account, the fake hat.

Speaker 1 (01:31:40):
Yeah, the sable rat hat. Yeah. Okay, we're out of time,
all right, Connocks, send your photo. CON's practicing in Nashville,
play the Predators, Stand the Road Trip tomorrow on behalf
of Ryan Derek, Rick, Ron Settlebar. Everybody here at O
Boyn's I've done and you have to date in the
