Speaker 1 (00:13):
I think you're gonna want to hear this.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
Your local sports coverage lives here.

Speaker 1 (00:20):
Sure what I says to an overly curved super blade two.

Speaker 2 (00:23):
Nothing blue with Don Taylor?

Speaker 1 (00:25):
I say that the winner of the draft lottery should
be the winner of a two man loose and Rick
Dolly wall I had a cherry tree, Little Ricky. I
used to go up that tree and just sit there
for hours and munch.

Speaker 3 (00:35):
On those cherry years.

Speaker 2 (00:37):
Donnie and Dolly ten.

Speaker 4 (00:39):
O'claud in Downtown Dankooper with a Paul Karn studio effect
for tuning in, Folks, It's Donnie and Dolly the team
on Check. Don Taylor with Rick Dolli Wall. Ryan Henderson
is our producer. He's the man at the controls, sort
of our director. The voice of God is Derek Won.

Speaker 5 (00:56):
How are you a little tired? Because I watched a
six hour baseball game last night?

Speaker 3 (01:02):
That no way not you lasted eighteen innings.

Speaker 5 (01:05):
I stayed, but I made a commitment nineteen. I'm out
because I gotta get six to seven eight hours beauty
sleep because the key is Donnie for one of the
keys to longevity. You're sleeping. You want six to eight
every night. And I was going to bail out at nineteen,
but you lasted eighteen innings. I lasted eighteen. I wouldn't

(01:27):
if I was at the ballpark, I would have left
at twelve thirteen.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
And I know a lot of friends of mine and relatives.
They gave up. And Ryan Henderson, co worker, shameful, gave up.

Speaker 1 (01:40):
Shameful.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
And I still don't believe you that you watched them.

Speaker 5 (01:44):
I watched it all. That's the Canada's team. I'm not
going to bail on them. If I was at the stadium,
I would have left. But not when you're on your
beautiful couch with your pillow and you're.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
Talking about you would have left that game.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Did you see how many people left Dodger Stadium last night?
Done a ton? No?

Speaker 4 (02:01):
Dan Shulman on the broadcast said that the stadium was
eighty percent full.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
I saw a lot of up to.

Speaker 4 (02:07):
Seventeenth, eighteen inning. No, well, twenty percent of the people
had left me. Okay, maybe they had kids. So that's
trying to get the straight you're you're there at a
historic ballgame. You would have left, but you going off.

Speaker 5 (02:20):
For six hours at a ballpark. There's hunger issues, sleep issues,
all that stuff. It's tough sitting in a seat like that,
don for six hours. Give me a break.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Okay, here's here's the inspiration though. Okay, you know who
lasted eighteen innings? Eighty nine year old Sandy Kofax Dodger legend.

Speaker 4 (02:39):
Did you see he looks so good and reportedly visited
the Dodgers' locker room afterwards. Eighty nine years old, and
he hung there for the entire eighteen innings.

Speaker 3 (02:51):
So that was inspirational. What a game?

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Six y five.

Speaker 3 (02:54):
We'll get to the conduction the JT.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
Miller and the Rangers in a bit, but six five
Dodgers over the Blue Jays, Freddy Freeman. But the solo
homer eighteenth inning tied for the longest game in World
Series history, tied with a game in twenty eighteen World
Series Dodgers versus Red Sox, not that long ago, but
six hours, thirty nine minutes. The stats coming out of

(03:19):
that game just went on and on. The two teams
went through nineteen pitchers. That's the World Series record. One
hundred and fifty three played appearances. That's a World Series record,
twenty nine strikeouts, and in the end, Freddy Freeman, Canadian, Canadian,
a person who represents Canada at the international level, ends

(03:40):
up being the hero.

Speaker 3 (03:41):
But so did Will Climb.

Speaker 4 (03:42):
And this is as we look at Freddy Freeman's home run.
Will kleinb gets the win for the Dodgers, and he
got mobbed afterwards, and Sandy kofax I mentioned him when
he went into the Dodgers' locker room afterwards, went right
to Will Klein and congratulated him. This guy's been bounced

(04:05):
around twenty five years old. I think this is his
fourth or fifth organization. Lots of time in the minor leagues,
throws seventy two pitches, strikes out five blues in the
World Series and he ends up being the hero.

Speaker 3 (04:18):
Great great story. So at Shohei Otani, another story.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
I mean it got on bays nine times, walked intentionally
four times, two home runs, two doubles. He's pitching today,
he's pitching tonight in in Game four. So Dodgers taking
the two to one series league.

Speaker 5 (04:37):
And all those people out there, including a couple in
this room that this was going to be a sweep
by the Dodgers. The blue Jays are right there. They're
given the Dodgers everything they can have. It going to
be except the guy crossed right right over there. Oh
it might be done in three games that the blue
Jays law said that.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Now he said that you were it's gonna be so
un Jay's belong there and they're given the Dodgers everything
can everything they can handle.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
All right, Good to see you're on board with the
corporate types back in Toronto. I love Dan Shulman's story,
of course doing your broadcast last night on television, but
Dan Shulman's story about his wife. His wife started the
game in Toronto, got on a plane to Los Angeles

(05:27):
and was at their hotel room in bed before the
game ended. That's how six hours, thirty nine minutes. I
just love that story, among others. But it was something
else historic and you would have left if you were
in the stadium. Unbelievable Canucks. As we move on here,
Cannucks hosting the Rangers, the return of J. T. Miller

(05:49):
to Rogers Arena.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Guys, let's get right to the we want to get
right to the pole question. Here's get to the pole.
Let's get to the poll. Okay, let's let's.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
Ge right to the pole question because I think it's
one of the big questions going into the game. I'm
pretty sure that experienced one of Victoria's iconic destinations. We're
talking about the waddling dog poll question, and we're talking
about the dog sleep sip stock up all on one
legendary spot. Come sit and stay at the waddling dog.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Today, Rick Ryan, get her up the wattling dog pop
poll question.

Speaker 5 (06:18):
Last night we posted it, should JT. Miller get a
video tribute from the Canucks? Seventeen hundred votes, it's hopping
a spop and seventy percent say yes and thirty percent
say no. Absolutely, unequivocally he deserves the ending wasn't great,
but did so many good things don in his time
in Vancouver thirty points, thirty playoff games, four hundred and

(06:41):
thirty seven points and four hundred and forty two regular
season games. He showed up, played with snarl, hard skilled
in the top six. They haven't replaced his hard skill
in the top six and all that stuff, the good stuff.

Speaker 1 (06:53):
He deserves a videotil Keith for sure, we gets into
the top six. Well, we'll see. He wore his heart
on his sleep for the.

Speaker 3 (07:01):
Yeah, there were backchecking issues at times, right.

Speaker 1 (07:04):
He's not the first guy that hasn't backchecked on.

Speaker 3 (07:07):
Twelvef all time.

Speaker 4 (07:08):
You mentioned the point totals, but twelvef all time in
Canucks points second all time? Did you know this in
points per game behind.

Speaker 1 (07:16):
Pavel Burray, Pavelbury, I knew that. That's it.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
Yeah, just over a point a game in his time
with the Canucks, four hundred thirty seven points at four
hundred and four games. And talk about coming through in
the clutch, and let's show like we all remember this
goal against the Oilers Game five, twenty twenty four, led
them in points during two playoff runs in twenty twenty

(07:41):
that was in the bubble. People forget about it. It was
it was a run. He actually tied with points in
that playoff run with Elias Petterson and led them in
points in twenty twenty four. He's won, I think anyway,
and people can argue this one of the great Canucks
of all time.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
He is number nine in your program, JT. Miller.

Speaker 4 (08:01):
He returns tonight, and I'm with you. I think he
definitely deserves a video tribute and for anybody who wants
to talk about how well he wanted out and he
gave up on the team, and you know.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
Maybe that's that You could say that's true.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
You could certainly say.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
It's true of him him wanting out, I would think,
all right, But that was also the case with Pavel Burray.
It was also the case with Ryan's got other issues
these days, Robert Lawonga as well. My contract sucks contract,
and those three gentlemen when they returned, great Canucks, when
they returned to gmplas Rodgers Arena, the Colosseum, big ovations, right,

(08:43):
big time. So I think J. T. Miller is in
that category. Not a great ending, but his time in
Vancouver was spectacular, borderline spectacular at the very least.

Speaker 5 (08:55):
A heart and soul guy, Donnie, a heart and soul
guy drags the team into the fight. Yeah, you know,
there were issues, there were issues here. He could be snarly,
you know, he could be a tough guy to deal
with in terms of that, but when it came to
playing the game, they didn't want him. And Donnie here's
another one for you. You think Rick Tockett was doing
cartwheels the day he was traded. He's a Rick Talckett

(09:16):
type guy. He's a Rick Talcket type guy. The day
he was traded, Rick Tockett said, we lost a heart
and soul guy. You know, guys like Rick Tockett don't
want to lose guys like JT.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
Miller. I'll tell you that much.

Speaker 4 (09:26):
Right now, I don't know who has time for this,
but Ryan and I were talking about this before the
show and we're seeing some of this right now on YouTube.
There's a piece documenting every single goal JT. Miller scored
as a Vancouver Canucks as a Vancouver Canucks. One of

(09:47):
them here against the Pittsburgh Penguins. I think it was
short handed in overtime, but and it just reminded me,
like how many big moments this guy had, and you know,
several of them in the playoffs in twenty twenty You
forget about that because it was in the bubble and
twenty twenty four against Nashville and Edmonton. Now, those playoff

(10:09):
runs didn't last as long as the Canucks and their
fans would have liked, but he was front and center
providing people with some big, big moments. And you know,
he was good with the Canucks he was solid with
the Canucks right off the bat seasons of seventy two,
ninety nine, eighty two and one hundred and three points.
That was twenty twenty three, twenty twenty four, on their

(10:30):
way to going on that two series run in the
playoffs forty six points in fifty three games. That was
in twenty twenty twenty one, which was a COVID shortened season.
So he was a consistent performer. I'm making it sound
like there was absolutely nothing wrong with JT.

Speaker 3 (10:46):
Miller.

Speaker 4 (10:46):
Clearly at the end there was something going on there
we're going to find out about. One day, he couldn't
get along with the with another star player in the
team in Elias Patterson.

Speaker 5 (10:58):
Yeah, well, that's sad the way ended, and it could
have been the other guy traded too, because they tried
to trade the other guy to don It wasn't just
Miller they were trying to trade. Look at the end
of the day, they lost a big centerment. You talk
about heart scale. The Canucks haven't replaced his heart skilled
in the lineup. When you have a centerment that's over
six feet and two hundred pounds, you can wear other
teams down. They don't have that right now. A Heatl

(11:20):
was good, but a Heatl's injured. But they don't have
a centerment right now that's over six feet two hundred
pounds that can wear teams down like J. T. Miller
did with talent too, with scale talent skull. He's got
great hands. Are you kidding me?

Speaker 1 (11:31):
Yeah? What makes this really interesting?

Speaker 4 (11:34):
And a lot of people have tweeted this out and
have mentioned this in our Bayside Inbox Bayside Oceanfront Resort
Inbox that it is just so interesting and juicy that
Eliz Petterson's game is coming around. There was two to
three games well mostly over the weekend, but most last

(11:55):
two games. He's actually gotten more points than JT. Miller
right now, he's got eight points in ten games. J
T Miller six points in ten games for a New
York Rangers team that is you think will struggle?

Speaker 1 (12:08):
I think that, I think.

Speaker 4 (12:09):
I think the Canucks season has been surprisingly okay, you
know above get.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
Given the expectations.

Speaker 4 (12:18):
Rangers are last place in the Eastern Conference. They got
killed the other night in the Calgary a five to one.

Speaker 1 (12:23):
JT.

Speaker 4 (12:23):
Miller with a six points in ten ten games, and
they can't score at home that's been well documented. They
have Mike Sullivan as respected a head coach as you'd want.
He's the first year head coach of the New York Rangers,
and things aren't going very well.

Speaker 1 (12:38):
But they're going fairly well.

Speaker 4 (12:39):
For the Caducks, and over the last two games at
the very least, really well for Eleas Petterson and I
know you want to see the two of them drop
the glade.

Speaker 5 (12:47):
Stop it, don They're not going to fight that. People
that I see this, you know, oh a Petterson should
fight Miller? Do you think Petterson's a fighter? Are you
kidding me? How many career fights is yet? And how
many career fights as Miller had?

Speaker 1 (12:58):
Stop it? Ricketts called a joke. I I know what
to get me going up yet? But what if it did? Yeah,
you get me going, But why would you want Patterson
fighting Miller who out weighs him by forty pounds.

Speaker 4 (13:08):
Okay, we're gonna, we're gonna. You're not getting it here,
so we'll move on.

Speaker 1 (13:11):
Ran.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
We've had some technical issues.

Speaker 1 (13:13):
Yeah, can I hear we are?

Speaker 3 (13:15):
We okay?

Speaker 1 (13:15):
Now? Well we did have music.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
At the beginning, Well we did, we did have music.

Speaker 1 (13:21):
I didn't hear it. I didn't hear it. Okay, well,
so we can't here right now, so we'll stop this conversation.
Let's do this.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
We've introduced the poll question. We're going to take a
break right now. I'll mention what's coming up on the
show DTMC is it just me? Coming up in the
eleven o'clock hour. Craig Button is going to join us
just after eleven o'clock and we'll see what he has
to say about tonight's matchup Miller versus Peterson Canucks Rangers
at Rogers Arena. I'll also ask him about, you know

(13:53):
these rumors with Pavel Zaka coming to the bank of
the Canucks from the Boston Bruce. Could Pavel Zaka be available?
He helped the Vancouver Canucks last Craig about that big
ride the Twitter guy microphone permitting later this hour and
up next. He's covered the New York Rangers for the
last seven years. He now works for the Athletic Vince Macagliano,

(14:14):
friend of the show Good Guy. We've had him on before.
He likes to talk. Vince has a whole lot to
say about J. T. Miller coming to Vancouver and what's
going on with those last place. New York Rangers here
tonight in Vancouver to take on the Canucks. Thanks for
tuning in, folks. Vince's next Donnie tell you.

Speaker 4 (15:52):
Vince mccagliano joins US now and he covers the ranges
for the athletic Vince, thanks for doing this, sir.

Speaker 6 (15:56):
How are you doing well? How are you guys? Long
night last night with that World Series.

Speaker 4 (16:00):
But I think I'm recovering absolutely some people left that
game early, whether they were at the stadium or watching
it on television, like the people that I work with.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
But Vince, enough of that. What's going on with this
New York Rangers hockey club? I think the word disappointing
comes to mind.

Speaker 7 (16:17):
Yeah, that for sure is true. It's been an interesting
start from this perspective. Obviously, with the new coach, Mike
Sullivan coming in, I think a lot of us were
curious about how quickly he would be able to have
an impact on a team that, as we know you
mentioned the word disappointing.

Speaker 6 (16:31):
They were very disappointing.

Speaker 7 (16:33):
Last season, and even though they weren't winning a ton
of games early in the season, a lot of people
I think you know who were observing felt pretty good
about the way that they were playing. Last season, the
Rangers were one of the worst defensive teams in the league.
That might have been their biggest weakness on a team
that quite frankly had a lot of flaws. And what

(16:53):
we saw early on was that the Rangers were playing
a much more disciplined, structured game, and a lot of
the analytics back then up.

Speaker 6 (17:00):
I mean the Rangers still.

Speaker 7 (17:01):
I was actually just at a story for The Athletic
yesterday that looks at a lot of the early season
trends and stats. They rank, according to Natural STATURECK as
the team that's allowing the fewest high danger scoring chances
per sixty minutes.

Speaker 6 (17:14):
So far this season.

Speaker 7 (17:15):
So you could point to some of that as the
Rangers have done and say, look, you know, even though
the wins aren't coming, the process seems to be there.
But I think what we've seen increasingly in recent games
is that that defensive coverage has been slipping, especially against
you know, some bottom feeding teams. They just lost to
the Calgary Flames the other night. Prior to that, they
lost to the San Jose Sharks at the Garden. They
still do not have a win at Madison Square Gardens

(17:37):
so far this season, which is definitely a sore spot
for the team right now. And all along through these
defensive up and ups and downs, what we've also seen
is a team that offensively is really really struggling. And
you know, I've been covering this team for seven seasons.
To me, the makeup of this team, the skill from
the top of the roster to the bottom of the
roster is might be the lowest or the least that

(18:01):
I've seen in my team my time covering the team.
They're a little top heavy. They've got a few guys
like Mika Zabanajad, j T. Miller, who I'm sure we're
going to talk about, and are Banarin, who you expected
to produce points haven't quite been at the level that
they typically are so far this season. But after that,
there's really not a lot of guys that are proven
point producers for this lineup, and I think you're seeing

(18:22):
it in these struggles that they're having to consistently put
goals on the board. So there are definitely, I think
some concerns even at this early juncture ten games into
the season.

Speaker 4 (18:31):
And we'll get to JT. Miller in a second, but
Mike Sullivan has a bit of a history here in Vancouver.
Is is he getting much of the blame?

Speaker 1 (18:41):
No.

Speaker 6 (18:41):
I think the honeymoon period is kind of still underway.

Speaker 7 (18:45):
As I mentioned, you know, the defensive improvements have been notable,
and this is a team that did not have the
reputation for having a lot of strong defensive players. And
I think that the buy in that Mike Sullivan was
able to get from them early in the season was
impressive to me. And his mess has been really consistent.
I mean, he wants them to be a puck pursuit team.

(19:05):
He's used that phrase multiple times. He wants a four
check that has more teeth to it, which I think
we've seen for stretches, encouraging stretches so far from the Rangers.
In the defensive zone, they've looked much better as far
as protecting those high danger areas. They've shifted from a
man on man scheme that they were playing under Peter
Loaveolette last year to his zone system under Sullivan, and

(19:25):
it seems to be better suited for this group of personnel.
So I think there have been some really positive developments
as far as Sullivan is concerned. What I think is
becoming more of a question is the roster construction. Does
this team have enough talent top to bottom, especially enough
skill top to bottom to be able to produce and

(19:46):
do more than these kind of two.

Speaker 6 (19:47):
To one games.

Speaker 7 (19:48):
And recently they've been more lopsided than that because as
you saw the other night in Calgary, they give up
five goals. Because as we touched on, the defensive play
has taken a little bit of a step back. I
think the players a tendency now is they're starting to
cheat offense a little bit. They've been committed to defense
for the first seven or eight games and the goals
weren't coming. So now you're seeing them start to take
more risks in the name of creating some offense, and

(20:10):
that's leaving them vulnerable on the back end. So that
seems like kind of a bad recipe as well. But
I think right now the fans are more pointing at, honestly,
Chris Jury and the roster construction than they are at
Mike Sullivan at this point.

Speaker 5 (20:22):
Vince, it's going to be an emotional light for JT.
Did a lot of good things in the city, didn't
end well. Did you get a chance to talk to
him about this game. I mean, he's the captain too,
so he's got to keep those emotions in check. But
what do you expect him from JT tonight? It's going
to be a game that's he's probably had marked on
his calendar for quite some time.

Speaker 7 (20:41):
Yeah, so him and I have had conversations about Vancouver. Actually,
when he first came over in the trade last season,
I remember having a lengthy conversation with him where he
expressed a lot of gratitude for what happened to him
in Vancouver, And as you guys know, he kind of
transformed his career. He had been bounced around, I know,
his first run with the Rangers, they were people that
felt like there were some immaturity issues at the time.

(21:03):
He goes to Tampa, doesn't really work out there, lands
in Vancouver and really turns his whole career around and
becomes not only at one hundred point guy, but a
guy that people felt like would drive the bus as
far as his intensity and the way that he plays
the game. And I know the Rangers coveted him because
they feel like they want to become the phrase they
always use is a harder team to play against, and

(21:25):
they feel like JT.

Speaker 6 (21:26):
Miller encapsulates that.

Speaker 7 (21:28):
So he feels like his time in Vancouver allowed him
to sort of figure out the way to harness his
intensity in the right way and become a better all
around player, which happened.

Speaker 6 (21:38):
But then obviously we see the way that things fall out.

Speaker 7 (21:40):
He's been pretty open about the fact that he remember.
The way he said it to me is he has
emotional regulation issues, and I think when things are going well,
you know that intensity is a real positive for him.
But I think when things don't go well, you can
kind of see it easily go the other way. Now,
the Rangers are gambling. I mean, they are banking on
him being able to lead this team. Obviously, they make

(22:02):
him the captain less than a year after he arrived,
and they're kind of putting all their eggs in the
basket of they want the whole team to embody that
intensity that he plays with.

Speaker 6 (22:12):
And so far, I.

Speaker 7 (22:14):
Think, you know, as far as the lead up to Vancouver,
in the last few days, he's been so hyper focused
on wanting to keep it on the task at hand
because the Rangers have been losing, that he hasn't really
talked a whole lot about the Canucks in the last
few days at least, I assume I'm heading to the
morning skate shortly. I assume that will be a big
topic of conversation today, especially with the.

Speaker 6 (22:33):
Vancouver media or back around. So I'm very curious to
see what's going to come out of that.

Speaker 7 (22:38):
But in prior conversations when the Canucks come up, he
doesn't really want to get into the drama or anything
like that. He's mostly just expressed gratitude and considers this
a place that he kind of reinvented himself, and obviously
his career took off for the most part while he
was here.

Speaker 5 (22:52):
Vince, when the Canucks made the trade for a heatl,
we had you on the air and we talked about
his concussion history and sadly he got hit by Tom
Wilson a couple of weeks ago, and he's out right now.
Boil boy. I think you told us four or five
concussions in New York. He's had two now in Vancouver.
He got a feel for the guy, Vince.

Speaker 6 (23:13):
Yeah, it's rough.

Speaker 7 (23:13):
I mean, obviously I wasn't watching the game live, but
I did see that hit shortly there after. You know,
we can debate about the timing of the hit and
all that you know. To me, it's just always in
these situations. And this was the concern as we talked
about last time, that was always kind of hovering over
him in New York, is that every time he takes
a hit, and I've seen him take some hits that
don't necessarily look like big hits. Sometimes it looks like

(23:37):
he's just grazed. But there seems to be this susceptibility,
this vulnerability to when he takes contact, that fear is
always going to be there. He has this history of concussions,
as we've documented, and you know, now you just got
to wonder about the long term.

Speaker 6 (23:51):
Health for the guy. I haven't talked to him in
a while.

Speaker 7 (23:54):
I know when he was in New York, every time
this topic came up, he was adamant that he was
going to play, that he had not even thought about
whether he needed to step back and reconsider his future
in the league.

Speaker 6 (24:05):
I don't know if that has changed again.

Speaker 7 (24:07):
I haven't spoken him in a while now, but it
just it's really a sad situation because you guys have
seen it.

Speaker 6 (24:12):
When he's on he flied.

Speaker 7 (24:14):
I he's a really talented player, but it just seems
so difficult for him to maintain it and most importantly,
stay on the ice. And I know that that was
the fear that the Rangers had, and that was one
of the reasons I think they were motivated to move him,
is because they felt like it was a little bit
of a ticking time bomb unfortunately.

Speaker 3 (24:32):
And one more on J. T.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
Miller.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
You touched on this, but what's he been like to
deal with for you and the rest of the media.

Speaker 1 (24:38):
He's intense.

Speaker 7 (24:39):
I mean, you guys know that I've had really interesting
conversations with him, Like I've found him to be really candid.

Speaker 6 (24:44):
I think the mood of the day is kind of important.

Speaker 7 (24:48):
Like certain practice days, when I've had an opportunity to
sit and chat with him, I found him to be
really insightful. I did a story a few weeks ago
him and Vincent Trochek from the Rangers both came up
through the Pittsburgh Youth Hockey syste him and he lit
up when I want to talk to him about that.
Their experiences coming up were really really fascinating. They had
a team that I think at first only had ten

(25:08):
players on it. Four of them ended up playing in
the NHL. You twelve teams, so that was pretty crazy
when we had that conversation. So I found him at
times to be really engaging, but you can see it.
I mean, after a loss, he is steaming. I think
he's been really good. I will say, as far as
the quotes that he's giving us after some of these games,
there's been a few times where he's clearly not happy.

(25:29):
I mean, I think he's never happy after a loss,
but there's been a few times where he's he's let
his team have it. You know, he talked after that
San Jose loss that he said they didn't respect their opponent.
Is the phrase that he used, which I think made
everybody's eyebrows go up a little bit. So he's not
afraid to call out his team. I think from a
reporter's perspective, you appreciate that kind of candor. But I've
also seen times. I think he had laid into them

(25:49):
a few games in a row. That lost the other
night after in Calgary, I think he was trying to
be a little more calculated. I wrote about that after
the game. I think he had a couple games in
a row where he laid into his team, and he
felt like maybe I need to not be so harsh
with my criticism tonight, and so he said things like,
you know, I don't want to make this bigger than
it is and that sort of thing. But it's obvious

(26:11):
this guy absolutely hates to lose. So if the losses
continue to pile up, I do wonder what direction.

Speaker 6 (26:18):
Is this going to go.

Speaker 7 (26:19):
Is he going to be able to control those emotions
or will there be times where maybe it gets the
better of him. I know that's something he's talked pretty
openly about. But yeah, I mean, listen, he's definitely an
interesting personality, Like he's a character to have in the room,
that is for sure. The Rangers are going through this
sort of transition, this experimental period I think where the

(26:39):
leadership group in the past was not nearly as in
your face as J. T.

Speaker 6 (26:44):
Miller is.

Speaker 7 (26:44):
So Chris Jurry has kind of handed him the keys
and now he is the one policing that dressing room,
and I think it's going to be an interesting experiment
moving forward. But as far as our dealings with him
so far, again, I found him to be really candid,
and from a reporter's perspective, you appreciate.

Speaker 1 (26:58):
That Fans and joyvac coover.

Speaker 6 (27:00):
Thanks for this, no problem, guys, thanks for having me.

Speaker 1 (27:03):
You bet.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
Vince mccagliano covers the Rangers the last seven seasons for
the athletic JT. Miller and the Rangers played the Knucks
late last season, late March. He got a goal and
empty net goal if I recall, and an assist five three.
The Rangers beat the Knucks. But this, of course the
first time at Rogers Arena. By the way, whenever somebody

(27:25):
says things aren't going well, but the process is there,
the process is going well. You know things are really
not going well. That's a sure sign.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
All right, the whole question. We'll deal with it next
Donny Delay. The team onunt jack.

Miller and the Rangers tonight Rogers Arena that leads through
our poll question, our waddling Dog, the poll question experience

(28:23):
one of Victoria's iconic destinations, sleep sip, stock up, all
in one legendary spot.

Speaker 1 (28:28):
Come sit and stay at the.

Speaker 4 (28:30):
Waddling Dog today, Rick, all right, Ryan, get her up
the wadling Dog.

Speaker 1 (28:33):
Poll question. Should JT.

Speaker 5 (28:34):
Miller get a video tribute from the Canucks tonight? Look
at this seventy percent yes, but thirty percent no, eighteen
hundred votes. Already, it's hopping. It's popping, boy, old boy.
A lot of people that on the right side, on
the right ledger there, he should get a video to
a tribute.

Speaker 3 (28:50):
In your opinion, and yet thirty percent do say no?
When's that?

Speaker 4 (28:55):
Help me out here, guys, and maybe our listeners and
viewers can can help me out as well. What's the
last time there was a.

Speaker 3 (29:01):
Video tribute over a turning player at Rogers Arena?

Speaker 1 (29:06):
Well, the guy that went to Russia and you said
he was scoring forty fifty goals in Russia. Josh Levo, Yeah,
I think Josh lib.

Speaker 3 (29:15):
He got a video tribute.

Speaker 1 (29:16):
He got something I know Josh Levo got something when
he came back.

Speaker 3 (29:20):
If Josh Levo got there's no question nothing against Josh Levi,
no question that.

Speaker 1 (29:25):
He got something. Something happened there with Lebo. But but
to Donnie's point, though, we're talking about a difference between
an actual video running and the welcome back to Rodgers
Arena and the player waves because I'm thinking, like Zadorov
probably got that last year, right, they know he might
have got that last year.

Speaker 5 (29:42):
I'm there for a short period in fact talk and
long term Canucks significant long term Canucks, significant Canucks.

Speaker 1 (29:48):
Josh Levo got a video, got something. I'm just telling
you something rings.

Speaker 4 (29:52):
About that one of the days you weren't getting enough sleep,
and you may acknowledged him.

Speaker 1 (29:58):
Let's leave it at that, Okay.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
Acknowledge is different than video tribute.

Speaker 5 (30:03):
You should have said, what, who's the last long time
connect to get a video?

Speaker 3 (30:07):
I should have said that.

Speaker 1 (30:08):
Yes, So that's what you guys are predicting to tribute.

Speaker 5 (30:13):
That could be our submissions are Bohova got one?

Speaker 1 (30:16):
Boho h yeah, yah yah. Anybody and he cried, remember
Bold cried what anybody he did?

Speaker 4 (30:21):
There were tears, Rick, you don't remember Josh Levo whether
we got I don't remember. Did he even come back, Yeah,
he did come back, telling he signed and count He
came back the year after they did something with him.

Speaker 1 (30:34):
They gave him an acknowledgement.

Speaker 3 (30:36):
That's different though.

Speaker 1 (30:38):
Our text line, Luke Schen got one, Bohrbag got.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
One video tribute.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
Yes, No, Luke Shan did not get a video. He
would have got the same thing. Luke Shan got a
tribute when they traded him leaves Kyle and Kolmark.

Speaker 3 (30:50):
But a tribute like acknowledgment versus actual video.

Speaker 1 (30:54):
Yeah. Beauhorbat got one for sure. Yeah. Yeah, So your
answer is bo Horvat, that would probably that that makes sense.
That tracks. Yeah, So you guys are thinking.

Speaker 4 (31:06):
Say, no, matter what you want to say about Horvat,
a great Canuck.

Speaker 1 (31:11):
Great Canuck should never have been traded. Let's leave it
at that.

Speaker 3 (31:15):
So you had the time you were in favor of
that trade.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
Oh stop, but I was not.

Speaker 4 (31:19):
Well no, I mean we've had several submissions in our
Bayside inbox, people saying the mistake the Canucks made being
forget Peterson Miller. It should have been Horrorbat over Miller,
given the what was reported even back then, some tension
in the in the dressing.

Speaker 5 (31:35):
Room and Canucks hockey ops were split. A lot of
people didn't want to see horrorvat gone.

Speaker 3 (31:41):
Well that's the case with every move, is that?

Speaker 4 (31:43):
Yeah, Yeah, drafts, trades, whatever, whatever the case may be,
You're going to get different, different opinions.

Speaker 3 (31:48):
Okay, So you've got some news regarding the Canucks versus
J T.

Speaker 4 (31:53):
Miller and the Rangers. Tonight, Quinn Hughes did not play
the Canucks' last game. What's happening there, Laura?

Speaker 5 (32:02):
Look, Quinn hees again tonight's second straight game, Donny, So
that obviously hurts, although they won the last game without
Quinn Hughes so good, impressively So.

Speaker 1 (32:09):
Tom will Lander has been called up. The former first
round draft pick from twenty twenty three is expected to
make his NHL do.

Speaker 4 (32:16):
Here he is taking a whirl at the morning skate
today as a matter of fact, courtesy of our friend
Jeff Patterson.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
Well, there he goes, Tom Wilander shooting the park this morning.

Speaker 3 (32:27):
Anything to say about the video.

Speaker 1 (32:28):
No, the video is great.

Speaker 5 (32:30):
Jeff's got to get closer, like he's too far away.
He's got to move up. That's too far away.

Speaker 4 (32:35):
Anywaybergh, thank you, Steven spiel No, he's got to get closer.

Speaker 1 (32:40):
If you want this photo or this video, get down there.

Speaker 3 (32:43):
You get the idea though, and we thank me, thank
you Jeff for doing that for us. Tommy Lander, by
the way, has played what five games for Abmsford and
has one goal and one assist.

Speaker 5 (32:56):
Yes, he's started this season with ABBY A former first
round pick on the right side. Very important for the future,
Tom Lander.

Speaker 3 (33:03):
Against the Rangers tonight, he's minus five down in Abosford.

Speaker 1 (33:07):
Yeah, that's not his fault. There's any Schools Hockey League team,
Donny down there.

Speaker 4 (33:10):
Yeah, well, look at how many Atmosford players are up
with the Canucks right now, six seven regulars out of
the out of the lineup. Okay, other news, what do
you have to say?

Speaker 3 (33:21):
Uh?

Speaker 4 (33:21):
Well, actually, let's do this. The Canucks tweeted out some
roster wyers today. We got that, Ryan, Yeah, let's get
let's get to that. Okay, take your time, Ryan, go Donny. No,
it's more than this, isn't it.

Speaker 1 (33:36):
Well, I cut off the Landers. Why would you cut
it off? Because you spoiled that, because you didn't listen.

Speaker 3 (33:41):
We want the full meal. Deal. Okay there, Yeah, why
would you do that?

Speaker 1 (33:45):
Why would you cut that off? So let me let me,
let me peel back the curtain. In the break, I
say to these two knuckleheads, no, no, let's show the
Canucks tweet because it sets up Lander coming back. They
don't listen to me. Shocker. Rick just blurts out on
the air, have Blander's on the ice and said, now
he's ruined the entire flow of this whole thing. Flow
flow still there.

Speaker 4 (34:04):
General manager Patrick Alvin, as they read this tweet, announced
today the following roster moves. Victor Mansini has been placed
on injured reserve retroactive to October twenty six.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
Do you know what his injury is?

Speaker 1 (34:16):
I think upper body, Donny. Could be the arm, Tom,
I'm telling you what I heard, upper body. Maybe the
arm is the arm of the upper body. Right, Well,
some people have problem with that. But you put your
hands down like this, Yeah, there you go. Is it
lower body upper Boddy?

Speaker 3 (34:30):
Anyways, I rarely play hockey like that.

Speaker 1 (34:32):
Do you know what area of the arm? What do
I look like a doctor? Wrist? Elbow? Do you think
the Canucks tell me? I don't know. I heard arm
seven to ten days. That's all I heard.

Speaker 3 (34:43):
I'll give Derek Forbert. Meanwhile, has been placed on l
T I R retroactive to October eleven.

Speaker 1 (34:50):
Him and Blueger. Donny, they catch stay.

Speaker 3 (34:52):
Healthy for Bert and Blueger all year long. They just
they could sure, but they get sure. He used Derek Forbert. Oh.

Speaker 1 (34:58):
Actually, when you think about it, I was just gonna
mentioned pique with Teddy Blueger.

Speaker 3 (35:02):
But former does a great job.

Speaker 1 (35:03):
Well.

Speaker 3 (35:04):
He's telling penalties as.

Speaker 1 (35:04):
Well, both great penalty killers.

Speaker 4 (35:06):
And then, in case you missed it, moments ago, Tom
Lander has but recalled from Avatar of the American Hockey League.

Speaker 1 (35:13):
There's nothing wrong with her pating things.

Speaker 3 (35:15):
Some people might just be tuning in.

Speaker 1 (35:17):
Ryan. Oh. One will to admit for you if you
want it, uh Mancinia Wilander our sponsored Byssan. They got cars.
They're besonde cars now beasonde cars separate there they shore
got car deals separately. Are they sharing a car? Who
shares a car? They both got a cart? People, so

(35:38):
you share a car coming to work? Come on, Donny,
they don't live together. They're not. They're not ru people
share car bill? How do I know what that? They're
not roommates because Mancini's married and we Lander's not. Still
they don't live together.

Speaker 5 (35:52):
This isn't the odd couple anyways, Donnie, they got car
deals at bed or.

Speaker 1 (35:56):
The odd couple.

Speaker 3 (35:56):
They weren't. They were both divorced.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
Who were they?

Speaker 3 (36:00):
Jack Klegman and Tony Randalls.

Speaker 1 (36:02):
Oh good, good, good good actress. Great show, great show.

Speaker 3 (36:06):
That was the TV version?

Speaker 1 (36:07):
Yeah, yeah, it was.

Speaker 3 (36:08):
Walter Mathow and Jack Lemon in the movie Versus The
movie is also very good.

Speaker 1 (36:12):
Odd couple of movie was great.

Speaker 4 (36:13):
Felix Hunger Okay. Also, what's going on with nasm Cadri?
We keep we know that Kannucks would love to acquire
strong center, someone who could play in the top six
second line, nasm Cadri from Calgary.

Speaker 5 (36:29):
Okay, So Kudrey is not available right now, Donnie, But
he's got a no trade list. And but if that
guy becomes available, the Canucks and every other team in
the league is gonna that are looking for centers are going.

Speaker 1 (36:39):
To check in.

Speaker 5 (36:41):
I've been told that Kudrey Vancouver is not on Coudrey's
no trade list. That that's good if you're that's good
if the Canucks are going to go after him, which
I fully expect they will if he becomes available. But
the Calgary Flames have not made that decision to move
Kudrey yet, And if they do, I expect the Canucks
and every other team looking for a second light center
to go, Hey, Calgary, what would it take? But Donnie,

(37:03):
why would Calgary send a guy with term in their division?

Speaker 1 (37:08):
Doesn't make sense.

Speaker 3 (37:09):
Too all Again, they have made trades with Calgary in
the past.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
Hold it a second, those guys were UFAs. They don't
got a problem with sending a UFA to Vancouver, But
when a guy's got three years term, that's a little
bit tougher.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
Well, maybe they're looking towards the future and they would
get future assets. Just a thought here that maybe some
other teams might want to pay attention to by trading
somebody like Cadary and getting some draft picks and prospects. Yeah,
maybe some out of a rebuilt They haven't had a
great start to the season, although you wouldn't know it
by the last time out Dah defeating the New York
Rangers here tonight at Rogers Arena five to one.

Speaker 1 (37:41):
What was that on Sunday?

Speaker 4 (37:43):
Also, we keep hearing the name Pavel Zaka out of Boston.
Why would the Bruins make him available.

Speaker 5 (37:48):
He's because they've got a young kid in the miners
that's ready to become a second light center. And if
they've lost seven in road done the Bruins If they
decide that, look, we might have to go into a
rebuild like Calgary. Those guys are going to be available,
and pastern feel about well.

Speaker 1 (38:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (38:05):
In Middlestat, Uh also is available. Cannocks love Zaka, by
the way, but I've been told that the Bruins are
going to be patient with Zaka. Bruins need defenseman. I
would not be surprised if Vancouver's poking around guys like
Mancini and Wilander for Zaca.

Speaker 3 (38:21):
Okay, all right, I got some business and then we'll
throw the break. By the way, Craig Button coming up
at the top of the hour. Larry Walker is going
to join us on the show tomorrow, Is that right, Ryan?
We got Yeah, Montreal Expos great, Oh Conado, Rocky is great.
Baseball Hall of Famer. Maybe aple Ridge is going to
join us to taka.

Speaker 4 (38:42):
Some major league baseball. Hey, listen, I haven't seen it yet,
but have you seen that you go to sleep at
like eight o'clock. Not but that documentary Who Killed the
Montreal Expos on Netflix. I'm not very yet, but I'm
working my way. I can't can't wait to watch that. Okay,
Unfortunately the Expos are no longer. They're now the Washington Nationals.
But Larry's going to join us to talk about the

(39:04):
world series last night, and we talked about in our
first segment, eighteen innings Historic.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
What am I reading here?

Speaker 1 (39:11):
Able auctions?

Speaker 3 (39:12):
Right?

Speaker 1 (39:13):
I haven't got to read, but I haven't got to read. Nope, nope,
it's not the first read in your book. No, it's
pastime sports. Oh you know what? Okay, pull that out.
Pull that out, and I think it's in there because
I think I gave you pastime instead of oh my goodness.
No no, no, no, no, no no no. We'll do
able later. Because you don't have anything. This isn't able.

(39:35):
I threw out the wrong thing.

Speaker 4 (39:36):
That's why you refer to us as knuckleheads. Segment Karma
karma one o one Right there.

Speaker 3 (39:43):
There you go, there you go. Okay, we'll tell you
about able auctions.

Speaker 1 (39:47):
Later on that toy store auction, speaking of which, Big
Ride the Twitter guy. Next, Donnie telling the team on check.

Speaker 4 (40:40):
Just ahead of Big Rye the Twitter guy our Bayside
Ocean Front Resort inbox.

Speaker 3 (40:46):
This is from Dave.

Speaker 4 (40:47):
Yes, Peterson is underperformed, although doing better as of late.
The home crowd needs to cheer him on to boost
his confidence.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
Again.

Speaker 4 (40:56):
That's from Dave. Did you see Kevin Biexell on the
weekend or on Canada? He feels and I'm surprised hearing
this from Kevin because he's an old school guy at heart.
I think that he feels the media and fans and
everybody in Vancouver or in conduct Nation needs to be
more supportive of Elias Petterson who's doing and so it's

(41:18):
our job much better of late.

Speaker 5 (41:19):
So he's not collecting checks for a leven point six million,
it's our job to get him going. Don't you think
the checks cashing every two weeks should be motivation.

Speaker 1 (41:26):
To get him going done? Here you go? How about
just the motivation of being a professional athlete? Money aside? Pride, exactly, pride.
It's a trade Turner effect though right out of Philadelphia.
I don't know if you guys saw that piece that
the fans take credit for turning around Trey Turner's game
because they were on him, on him, on him. Then
they decided to go and reverse the karma.

Speaker 3 (41:48):
You know, cheer him all and it's all them.

Speaker 1 (41:51):
He flipped the switch a bit. So don't buy that.
It's the guy that looks in the mirror, that's the
guy that's got to figure it.

Speaker 5 (41:57):
Out, like not anybody Michael Jackson, Yeah, guy, this.

Speaker 3 (42:01):
Was the guy in the mirror.

Speaker 1 (42:02):
He was the man. I was surprised to hear that
from Kevin because he played here, because he knows the market.
The market is a smart hockey market. I'm sorry. We're
not gonna people aren't gonna falsely just prop up a
player when he's playing poorly.

Speaker 4 (42:18):
Yeah, and nobody sorry, And I should just say something
when it comes to the criticism of Eleas Petterson, which
has gone away lately because he's playing better, so you
don't get shockolately. He doesn't get criticized as much for
myself anyway, and I think most people who have criticized
him publicly.

Speaker 1 (42:35):
It's more about the contract.

Speaker 4 (42:37):
Yeah, it's more about the guys who signed, who agreed
to that contract than it is about him.

Speaker 1 (42:42):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (42:42):
Like, I'm sorry, although I will say this, nobody talks
about it. He didn't come in to camp and shape
last year. Yeah, I know, so, Donnie, how many you
brought the first year of his contract? Not moving your feet? Yeah,
not shooting the puck? Well, yes, contract decide. Those things
are on you as a player. You're holding up your.

Speaker 1 (43:01):
End of the bargain, and that is on the people
who know more about hockey than we do. I think
they should be. They should have known that, they should
they should have seen that, so you're blaming the guys
that signed him. Well, well, when it comes to not.

Speaker 4 (43:16):
Being not coming in according to a lot of people
like J. T. Miller, not coming into shape, that's that's
on him, no question about it. But the majority of
the criticism, the bulk of the criticism comes because he
was getting that contract is not It's one of the
worst in Cannock's history. And maybe it turns around, which

(43:36):
I hope it does for Conna, I can't say that
two years into an eight year deal. How do you
feel about Louis Erickson After the first year he scored
on his own net right off the back, Like I think,
you can tell hamstrings an organization, especially when it ends
up you end up getting rid of players that maybe
you could have kept.

Speaker 1 (43:56):
But fans don't do that. Fans don't separate the smart
ones do ah. Every player at this point is judged
on your contract and your production. They don't go they
don't go to MA. I'm sorry. You can have a
deeper conversation and say, yeah, it's on management, but across sports,
people go, you're making X and.

Speaker 4 (44:15):
You're not performing up to X. Well, No, I I
think that there's a dollar cents game. Now people who
are smart under the knuckleheads of the media, like like
like in this studio, you could put blame on both parties. Yeah,
but having said that, two good games, two very good games,
and the start the season has been I think better

(44:38):
than most people expected from not only Petterson but the Caducks.
There have been no question it's been as Really it's
been great for us because it's been a roller coaster, like,
oh my god, rebuilt and then you know the next
day it's you know what, maybe they'll sneak into the
playoffs here there's still think you still think rebuilds the

(44:58):
way to go.

Speaker 1 (44:59):
A Okay, you guys started off the show talking about
that late World Series game last night went deep into
the evening hours, almost at midnight West Coast time. We
probably should have seen it coming. You know why because
the man who sung the anthem last night, Oh, Brad Paisley, Okay, country,

(45:20):
I was that guy who wasn't because was it JP
Sacks last night because he was doing one of the games.
I don't know if it was last night, I didn't
see it. So Brad Paiseley, though sung the American national anthem.
This is courtesy Sarah Wexler, who works for MLB. He
has now officially sung the national anthem four Game two
in the twenty seventeen World Series, who went eleven innings.

(45:43):
Game three of the twenty eighteen World Series, which much
like last night, went eighteen innings, matched the record Game
one in twenty twenty four, that game went ten innings
and then last night eighteen innings. Every game he has
sung the national anthem for it's gone to extra innings
and in two cases it's gone deep into the evening.
So we probably should have seen this coming. And if
you see Brad Paisley singing the anthem again, you should

(46:05):
take the over on the anthem on the on the innings.

Speaker 3 (46:08):
For the game. I thought you were gonna talk about
JP Sacks, so that we pronounced it.

Speaker 1 (46:12):
Yeah, that is Yeah.

Speaker 3 (46:13):
Anyway, it was a horrible rendition of the Canadian national anthem,
and he is he joins the list of people who
cannot call themselves probably Canadians who changed the lyrics.

Speaker 1 (46:25):
He changed the lyrics. He did. That's why a lot
of people are not Oh man, sorry I totally missed
this last night, but yeah, I just don't don't just
do it and also don't try and turn it into
a song. Some people try and turn it in just
it is a song. It's an anthem. Like they try
and like they add like like I now I'm shooting
myself in the foot here. I love the Marvin Gavers,
which you hated the Marvin Gavers.

Speaker 3 (46:46):
I hate it.

Speaker 1 (46:47):
I just don't think it's up there with Lady Gaga,
which is your your gold standards, not even Whitney Houston.
This lady Whitney good. Yeah she's good. I like her.
But anyway, Brad Paisley deep into the night last night,
and we we we didn't show this.

Speaker 3 (47:00):
By the way, all the.

Speaker 1 (47:02):
Factoids out of the game, I mentioned some of them
time in the game six hours, thirty nine minutes.

Speaker 4 (47:07):
It's true, this is the first segment you didn't Yes,
we're gonna go ahead tell me, boy, you didn't watch it,
So why are you telling us?

Speaker 1 (47:13):
I watched the fifteenth inning then I went to bed.
I'll admit it. I went to bed fifteen innings with
the bed. What did you tell people? Be careful, be
careful man. Stop. You said you didn't watch after nine? No, fifteen,
I got through fifteen. Yeah, no, I stuck it, dude.
Donnie stuck it, dude, that's that's not good Errick, Derek
stuck it. Through six hundred and nine pitches thrown, the

(47:34):
world series record, nineteen pitchers used. That's a world series record.
Combined runners left on base thirty seven as well. So
that's some of the key factoids last night. I will
say Clinton Kershaw coming into the game was a great
story last night. He's gonna retire. This is hit for him.
He made that. And I don't know if you guys
seen the viral video going a round of his wife
on absolute pins and needles with watching him and getting

(47:55):
that final out for him. Whether or not he gets
back into the World Series, I'm not sure, but that
was a great moment to see last night. And well,
it only happened because it went so late and it was.

Speaker 4 (48:02):
Being reported Jeff Passing. I'm not sure who it was.
I can't remember who it was, but somebody reported. It
was talked about on the Sports that broadcast about Dave
Roberts saying that if it went eighteen innings he was
going to use a position player on the mound. Obviously inaccurate,
but of course that could have been Otani, who's scheduled
to start.

Speaker 1 (48:22):
I guess I don't think you. I don't know, Yeah,
like would you burn O'tal? I don't think you would
burn O'tani at that point. That's what by the way,
I mean, he ties it up again last night, It's
just ridiculous. What this dude? You made the point.

Speaker 4 (48:37):
This is one of those situations where, and I'm getting older,
I understand it where I can't remem if it was
on the air, off the air. It's effortless with him.

Speaker 1 (48:44):
Oh well, the sound of the bat, like we had
the clip, Derek, you got a clip of the home
run from Otani last night time in the game. We
don't have the sound on it, but you can watch
the swing. When you're talking about the effort level, it's
just it's like a knife going through butter Like it's
just ridiculous, Like it looks like he bury. It looks
like it's gonna be a fly ball, and deep into
the LA evening it goes and it's a tie game,
and then now tonight he's gonna pitch. It's ridiculous. Magic's happy,

(49:07):
of course.

Speaker 3 (49:08):
You know, then you forget about everything that he does.

Speaker 1 (49:12):
They're talking about you.

Speaker 3 (49:13):
Like his the number of stolen bases he has this year,
and there's speed on top of everything else.

Speaker 1 (49:19):
That game last night wasn't very entertaining. It had it,
So he went to bed. Okay, But I brought this up. Okay,
So I went to the fifteenth I saw the the
highlights this morning on TSN t SN skipped from the
fifteenth inning to the eighteenth. So clearly I went to
bed at the right time. I missed nothing.

Speaker 4 (49:38):
I missed the but Freddy name and Will Klein was
I missed Freddy Freddy Freddy hit.

Speaker 1 (49:45):
You're not gonna hang in there, man, you can't quit.
Be very careful, be very careful. You got to hang
in there. Yeah, when it's on the couch, it's different.
You can't bail when you're on the couch. That makes
no no sense. You got to see a game. I
don't have to worry about parking skytrain, beating twenty other
thousand people out of the place that you're in your

(50:07):
bed or not bad but maybe bad, but on your
couch at the game. You should never bowl a bail
on a game on your couch unacceptable. But give a rip.

Speaker 3 (50:17):
What about people who buck up?

Speaker 1 (50:20):
They don't want to they buck up to see a game.
I would be less, you know me. And there were
twenty thousand people. Want to get my money's word, it's
twenty thousand people left last night. Yeah, to be honest,
that says more about the LA crowd than anything. And
that game's in Toronto last night. I bet it says Okay, look, okay,
a you know this young people. I'm young, you know,
I know.

Speaker 3 (50:38):
I know some of the young kids hung in there.

Speaker 1 (50:40):
They were sleeping, but they're no, no, they were, they
were in the building. Yeah, some people got to work
a lot. I know, I know, I know. But I
also wonder if it's also like the LA folks, they
got something else to go do you're gonna go to
a club or they're gonna go to a dinner. Come on,
it's only club. It's Hollywood. It's Hollywood on a Monday night. Yes,
it's Hollywood. You gotta take an afternoon nap, catnap. I

(51:02):
have no time for an catnap. Guy, even a twenty
thirty forty minutes every day. You gotta take that nap.
And you'll hang in.

Speaker 3 (51:08):
During the game.

Speaker 1 (51:09):
Nah, turns out in the afternoon done. I will say,
I think if I feel better on a shorter nap
than a longer nap. You know, a long nap, you
wake up, you feel like crap until you go to bed.
Short nap, a little quick one boom boom, you can
really energize the Some of the people watching this show
had a ten minute nap. Yeah, so now you can
wake up and you catchaps are the best? Oh, Craig Button, next,

(51:32):
Donnie one now no after the show, Doney know the
team I check. Hey everyone, it's Donnie Donney and we're
looking to partner with your company. We have several packages
and price points to fit your budget and spread the
word about your company on the show, in our podcast,
and on social media. We'd love to get involved with
your company. Called two five oh eight eight oh twenty

(51:55):
two eighty two or email advertise at checkmedia dot ca.

Speaker 4 (52:06):
It is Tuesday and Oliver guests today, including Craig Button
standing by in Seattle, brought to you Buyer Title, sponsor,
Able Auctions, Able Auctions dot c a as we're joined
by TSN Scotti director Craig Button in Seattle for the
kracking and the habs.

Speaker 3 (52:22):
Craig, thanks for doing this, sir, how are you.

Speaker 1 (52:25):
We're just having technical issues with Craig's audio. Okay, So
I'm gonna pull Craig down for a second. Okay, okay, okay,
So you guys talk amongst yourselves, all right, Craig just
a one second.

Speaker 4 (52:33):
Pitch it back in a second. So Kracking versus the
Habs tonight in Seattle. And I bet when when Craig
got that assignment he didn't think even I know it's
very early, but we're talking about two of the teams
off to tremendous starts in the National Hockey League. But
he didn't see that coming.

Speaker 1 (52:51):
Habs.

Speaker 4 (52:52):
We saw them the other night in Vancouver seven and three.
They were so impressive, and you forget in that game
that the Habs had to come back from a two
nothing death against the Canucks. And then the Cracking have
surprised everybody at five two and two after nine.

Speaker 5 (53:05):
Games, Cracking a getting the goaltender. We talked to Fernasa
on Monday, Donnie. The Cord's been great and they're getting
balanced scoring. They made some nice changes in the offseason,
got a brand new coach. Structure is there. Seattle is
doing a whole lot better than I thought. Donnie, what
are they right now? Look at this one point one
point behind Vegas for first place in the Pacific Division Seattle.

Speaker 1 (53:27):
Nobody saw that. Nobody saw that. How are we doing? Ry? Okay,
Ryan's going to be the one second sign with his
fing Donny, I do have an update for you if
you want it on the.

Speaker 3 (53:38):
Canucks take anything right now, Canucks.

Speaker 1 (53:41):
We got a little bit more of the lineup tonight.
And guess what.

Speaker 5 (53:45):
Tom Milander is officially making his NHL debut tonight, and
so there's no Quinn Hughes. But we got the lineup,
Donnie well Lander and Joseph is your third pair tonight.

Speaker 1 (53:56):
And we got the lines. Can we get that correct?
Patterson got lines out?

Speaker 5 (54:00):
Okay, he's too busy hooking up Dobrusque with Petterson and
Garland Craig.

Speaker 1 (54:05):
Can you hear me?

Speaker 5 (54:06):
Rachel with Caine Investor, No change from the weekend, Ratu
Ratu with Sherwood and o'clonnor. And then you got the
abosphere kid lines based on Carlson A Man's Your Healthy
Scratch up Front MP twenty nine, Marcus Patterson, Marcus Patterson
with Heronic EP twenty.

Speaker 3 (54:23):
Five, Elias Petterson Elias.

Speaker 1 (54:27):
Patterson with Myers. How do you know? That just confuses me.
There's too many Petterson's and MP's and EPs. I don't
know why he doesn't like that. Joseph and Willander is
your third pair.

Speaker 5 (54:38):
Kud Ryotsappuh is your extra defenseman tonight. So there's your
Cannuck line up tonight.

Speaker 1 (54:43):
No quitning.

Speaker 4 (54:44):
So much contribution from Abbasford. Oh and you know we
talk about the decent start for the Canucks again, not
world beaters by any means early, but I think I
think a lot of people are surprised they're five. They're five.
It's been very up and down, but surprised they're five
and five. They're times when they look very good, times
when they look very bad. There has been a lot

(55:05):
in between.

Speaker 3 (55:05):
But I just wonder where they would be.

Speaker 4 (55:08):
And look, there's been a lot of contributions by certain
players on this team, but that Abbotsford line has been
really good.

Speaker 5 (55:14):
They have They've brought speed and he trusts them. You
listen to foot talk about that fourth line, do they
he trusts them. You know, they're fast and they're defensively responsible.
And the other one for you is Dempko has been great.

Speaker 1 (55:26):
I don't. I don't have the goaltender yet tonight, Donny.

Speaker 4 (55:30):
Well you say that, and yet on social media last
night I noticed this, and not just social media but
general conversation. A lot of people are down on Kevin
Lankin and his numbers are nowhere near what Thatcher Dempkos are.
So there's that temptation. You know, do you do you
start Thatcher Dempko game after game? Well, you can't.

Speaker 1 (55:52):
You can't.

Speaker 3 (55:52):
You can't give an injury history and it's a condensed schedule,
and you know, given the situation with Thatcher Dempko and
his history of injuries, you can't play him game after game.
You have to believe in a guy that you signed
to a pretty hefty contract in Kevin Lankinnon. But he
got a lot of criticism after the Montreal game.

Speaker 1 (56:13):
And Donnie, they're getting back on the road after the game.
They got to go back to just one of the Midwest. Yeah,
well they started a three game road trip in Saint.

Speaker 3 (56:21):
Louis on Thursday.

Speaker 5 (56:22):
And don this isn't a bag skate, but I'm looking
at video from the Canucks today and extra skating from foot.

Speaker 1 (56:28):
After the It's not a basket, Donnie.

Speaker 5 (56:32):
When you see the video, this is not what you
do on a game day skate. Don He's making them
go up and down the ice. I'm telling you, I'm
looking at the video. Yeah, this is not what you
do on game day skates.

Speaker 4 (56:41):
Okay, So we apologize some technical difficulties here with Craig
who's in Seattle. We understand we've hooked up with him again.
So let's take a break and we'll do a full
segment with Craig Button. Kisan Scotti Director After this, Donnie,
dell you the team on't yet.

Speaker 1 (57:00):
All right.

Speaker 3 (57:00):
We're still working on Craig Button.

Speaker 4 (57:02):

you've probably figured out, is brought to you by the

BC residents say fifteen percent on weekday stays at the
Bayside Oceanfront Resort in Parksville, relaxed by the ocean, enjoy
grey downing and on wine with Island hospitality booked now

(58:22):
at Bayside Resort, Parksville dot com. You've got some further
information when it comes to cancks the Canucks game tonight
against at Miller and the Rangers, and the starting goaltender.

Speaker 5 (58:33):
Yeah, starting goaltender Donnie is going to be that your
DEMPCO and so DEMPKO is going to get back to
back starts and look at a season so far don
four and two goals against average two point three six
and a say percentage of nine to twenty two little
surprise link and it has been not as good. Fifteen
goals allowed in four games. Little surprised at that. They

(58:54):
gave him a big bump and pay from nine hundred
to four point five million. I thought Donnie has goals
against average right now. Three point seven four is not good.
And now the Canucks are gonna after tonight, they're off
to Saint Louis. They're gonna be in Minnesota, so travel,
not practice time, you know, condensed schedule, Olympics, all that stuff.
It's just a crazy time for these guys' schedule wise.

Speaker 3 (59:16):
Yeah, eight seven to three save percentage not good for
Kevin Lancan good not exactly shades the last year, five
year contracting. You mentioned the four point five cap pits,
so more expected from Kevin lancoln Again, like a lot
of things right now, very early in the season. But JT.

Speaker 4 (59:34):
Miller and the Rangers tonight and qu We're gonna give
it a try with Craig Okay, JT. Miller and the
Rangers tonight in Vancouver, the return of JT. Miller, and
we like a lot of people, as you can tell
by our widlink dog poll question expecting a video tribute
for the controversial He was controversial but certainly successful in Vancouver.

Speaker 3 (59:56):
JT. Miller. All right, let's try again. Let's go back
down to Seattle TSN Scotting director Craig Button J T. Miller.

Speaker 4 (01:00:02):
Can you see him and that hasn't been the best
to start for the New York Rangers or him? Can
you see him getting back to being a one hundred
point player or close to that in the near future?

Speaker 8 (01:00:13):
Those days have one hundred points for J. T. Millery,
I think are in the rear view mirror. I just
don't think at this stage that he can he can
replicate that. But he's still an important player for the
New York Rangers, and there and and and they need
help in other areas. It's it's JT is the least
of their works.

Speaker 1 (01:00:31):
But Craig, do you appreciate the type of player he is?
You know, a big center. You know he wears teams down.
He can be he can get cranky at times, but
he he he. He loves to win, he hates to lose.
But do you appreciate the player? I love J. T. Miller.
I love what he does.

Speaker 8 (01:00:48):
I love how he sets a tone. For for what
is really important and winning, and that's about playing hard
and competing.

Speaker 1 (01:00:57):
UH.

Speaker 8 (01:00:57):
Last week against the San Jose Sharks, they were planning. Macklan,
Celebrini and Macklin had an unbelievable game, but JT tested them.
JT tested Macklin. Macklin stood up. He's about He's about saying, Okay,
here's what I'm gonna do. I'm going to try to
unsettle different opponents. I'm not afraid to match up against

(01:01:17):
anybody in the league. And I think when you're when
you're a team and you have somebody that you know
has that type of ability to change the tenor of
a game, to push the game in your team's direction,
it's a player the teams are looking for. And they're
not only looking for that type of player to help
them win, they're looking for that type of player to
help them win when it's really, really hard. So one

(01:01:40):
appreciate JT.

Speaker 1 (01:01:41):
Miller. Hey, Greig, there's two centers out there. One is
Pablo Zaka.

Speaker 5 (01:01:45):
The Canucks love him, they'd like to get them, but
we don't know if the Bruins are ready to move him.
The other is Nazem Kadri. We don't know if the
Flames are going to move him or maybe they keep them.
We don't know, but those are the type of centers
that I think Vancouver would like to get their hand.

Speaker 1 (01:02:01):
What are your thoughts on those two guys? Yeah?

Speaker 8 (01:02:04):
Nas is interesting. I mean he's going into Toronto tonight,
so you know there's gonna be all the attention on
Nas as there should be. I mean I got asked
the question, would he be a good fit in Montreal
or Toronto? If you're interested in winning, Nas is a
fit anywhere. Like he's a difference maker.

Speaker 1 (01:02:19):
He's been.

Speaker 8 (01:02:19):
He and Dustin Wolf have been the playmes best players
this year, and he can contribute offensively much. How we
just talked about j T. Miller, Nas brings those same elements.
So if he's got three years after this on a
seven million dollar contract, but you're interested in winning, you
go find a way to get Nas into your lineup.
How about Zach is interesting? Pabal like he plays left playing,

(01:02:41):
he plays center. I don't see him as a center, Wrick.
I see him as a winger. Wow, I think he's
I think he's better served on the wing. I don't
think he's a distributor in the middle of the ice.
I don't think he's he's got that ability to move
the puck uh to better areas. I think he's a
hard driving player. He's a straight line player, and I
think he operates better off the walls, so he can

(01:03:04):
be a faceoff guy. I think he can be a
good penalty killer playing in the middle of the ice.
But in terms of five on five play and power play,
I see him more as a as a winger and
as a net player and a boards guy than as
a natural five on five center.

Speaker 3 (01:03:20):
Is Lucas Richel going to help the Canucks?

Speaker 8 (01:03:22):
Craig Yeah, Well, when you look at Luke, yeah, I
think Lucas can help the Vancouver Connucks. Listen, you run
into injury problems, you need offense. You look at where
the Chicago Blackhawks find themselves. They find themselves in a
spot where it's really difficult with all the young players
they have in there. So he really couldn't find his footing.
I mean, he's a first round draft pick. I think

(01:03:44):
the price that they paid to acquire Lucas Richel is
a risk well worth taking. And in the couple of
games I saw on the weekend, I thought he played
really well. I thought he made some good plays. You
hope he can get more of that, and maybe a
change of scenery is something that will help Lucas and
certainly the Vancouver Canucks could benefit from a little bit
more offensive punch.

Speaker 1 (01:04:04):
Would you agree?

Speaker 4 (01:04:04):
He said, you watch the games of the weekend, that
Elias Petterson is playing improved hockey one percent.

Speaker 8 (01:04:10):
I mean, and what have we been looking for? We've
been looking for signs of that, right, That's what we're
looking for from e Lias, And and certainly I thought
he was. He was engaged, he was pushing, he was initiating.
That's we know what his skills are. I don't need
to see Elias handle the park or shoot the puck,
we only have the I need to see him initiated.

(01:04:30):
I need him to see him putting opponents on their
heels and attacking and and and breaking them down. I
saw lots of evidence of that on the game Saturday
versus Montreal and certainly versus the game against Edmonton on Sunday.

Speaker 4 (01:04:44):
And Craig, I don't know if you heard Adam Foot
post game on Sunday, but he feels that Elias Petterson's
offensive game is helped when he has more responsibility defensively,
he did a pretty good job of shutting down Connor
McDavid on Sunday. Do you understand what Adam was?

Speaker 8 (01:05:00):
Yeah? And I think that we talked about a player
trying to get engaged, right and maybe not getting engaged,
being more engaged. And so how do you get players engaged?
You get them engaged in a matchup game. Okay, oh, listen,
you're up there against Conor McDavid. No player wants to,
you know, be on the video being taken advantage of,

(01:05:20):
So that gets a player's attention. Penalty killing gets a
player's attention. Elias has been a good two way player.
I mean, nobody's ever questioned his ability to play both
ends of the rank. But I think to Adam Foot's
uh description, getting it more engaged in different areas and
it keeps them engaged in those other parts of the
game that they need them for. I think that's a
real positive and certainly Elias respond and that's all anybody's

(01:05:45):
looking for. We know he has the talent. He knows
he has the talent. He wants to try to show that.
The last one hundred and ten games, whether they were
we're not. We're not representative of what his abilities are.
And if this is what Adam Foot has found, then
just keep riding it, because if this is what you're
gonna get from me, Leais Peterson more engaged in different
areas of the game, just keep engaging them.

Speaker 4 (01:06:07):
And one more quickly, Craig, we mentioned earlier, we tried
to get this question in before we had our technical difficulties.

Speaker 1 (01:06:13):
But you're in Seattle, Krack and versus the Habs. We
talked a lot about the Habs last week as they
came into Vancouver, but what about the Crack and Craig
and their start?

Speaker 3 (01:06:23):
Would you agree? Everything looks positive down there.

Speaker 8 (01:06:26):
Everything looks positive with respect to their playing really good defense.
Their offense is terrible. They do not have odd Jared
McCanns out now who's got ties to Vancouver, as you
guys will know. And offensively they need to they don't
have enough skill, that's the bottom line. And certainly defensively,
Lane Lambert, I think has done a terrific job. Doesn't

(01:06:48):
surprise me one bit. He worked with Barry Trotz for
years on Long Island where they were a really good
defensive outfit. So you just can't just go and inject offense.
Would you say you want more offense? You need the players.
But what you can do is get a really good
system of team play, and and that's exactly where the
Seattle Crack can have found them. So the record is

(01:07:09):
representative of good, solid defensive play, but they struggle to score.
They really do their their offense is certainly something they're
they're going to be looking for. They got some young
players with offense. They've tried to draft that and they have,
but they're they're still a little bit young and still
a little bit not quite ready for prime time. But
this is a team that under Lane Lambert you see

(01:07:31):
play really hard and really smart defensively. They stifled the
Winnipeg Jets last Friday in Winnipeg, and they've done that
to a few teams this year and Montreal's got to
be ready for that.

Speaker 4 (01:07:43):

Don Kelsey Grammar's a dad again. The seventy year old
actor has welcomed his eighth child and fourth baby with
his wife Katie Walsh. It's a son named Christopher. Walsh
is forty six, twenty four years younger than doctor Crane,
as I mentioned, seven years old. Kramer and Walsh already
share a twelve year old daughter, Faith and sons Gabrielle

(01:11:48):
and James, ten and eight, respectively. Paying attention right is down?

Speaker 1 (01:11:51):
I have trouble keeping up. True.

Speaker 4 (01:11:53):
He's also dad to a forty one year old daughter, Spencer,
whom he shares with his first wife Doreen, thirty three
year old daughter Greer with ex Barry Buckner, and twenty
three year old daughter and twenty year old son Jude
with ex Camille Grammar.

Speaker 3 (01:12:10):
You do the math on that.

Speaker 1 (01:12:13):
Eight kids with four different women, So eight kids. This
is his eighth kid. There you go, four different women,
four different women. He's like the energizer bunny. He just
can't stop.

Speaker 4 (01:12:23):
I think I think he's got the energizer bunny beaten
seventy years old and he's got a new kid. Congratulations
to Kelsey Grammar. And I know everybody's gonna say, what
are you doing? The kid's going to be you know,
just ten years old. When you're eighty and you know
we're graduating when Lord knows what's gonna happen with you.
Here's the person who doesn't mind this.

Speaker 1 (01:12:44):
Who the kid? Kid?

Speaker 3 (01:12:46):

I'm sure he'll be taken care of.

Speaker 1 (01:12:52):
He's got a he can't keep going noise guy at
some point, who knows, got to put your foot down,
you know, well.

Speaker 9 (01:13:00):
Or something else. Yeah, okay, but he's got to stop.
May this is maybe the foot would be a good idea.
But he's seven. So the kid is twenty years old.

Speaker 1 (01:13:12):
He's going to be ninety when the kids twenty. Maybe
what's your point? Yeah, I'm okay as somebody, I'm not
okay anymore to this situation. I'm alive.

Speaker 3 (01:13:22):
My dad gave me life.

Speaker 1 (01:13:24):
Yeah okay, but you can't have those things like, you know,
playing catch with your dad.

Speaker 4 (01:13:28):
Absolutely positives and negatives, right, negatives. Dad's not around positives.

Speaker 1 (01:13:34):
I'm alive, I'm alive, healthy, and he's gonna hell of
an inheritance.

Speaker 4 (01:13:39):
Well, I'm guessing by all these women that maybe it, oh,
some of the money has gone else.

Speaker 1 (01:13:45):
Kid, he's getting a coupon books, a gift certificate to McDonald's.
But look, you know what he's got four divorces, no three?
Well we don't know.

Speaker 4 (01:13:54):
Yeah, separation separations, Yeah yeah, I'm sure they were nice

Speaker 1 (01:14:30):
Red Deer is a half an hour away from the
task when don what are you talking about? You said
just outside half an hour? I don't think so.

Speaker 5 (01:14:37):
Beautiful place. Third round pick of the Heart for Whalers
in nineteen eighty two. He almost played twelve hundred games,
scored the last goal in Hertford Waiters franchise history in
their final game against Tampa Bay, a highlight of his career.
Scored the overtime winner game four, nineteen eighty six down
the Cup playoffs against Montreal.

Speaker 1 (01:14:55):
His father was a coach of the NHL. Two brothers
also played in the NHL.

This Surrey, BC native and defenseman won a Western Hockey
League title with the Portland winter Hawks way back in
nineteen eighty one. He was a high draft pick of
the Maple Leafs.

Speaker 5 (01:16:01):
The next year, this player became the first NHL player
to change teams via free agency, requiring compensation. When he

his SATs and Night Rick Dall wall I Barny got
past grade twelve.

Speaker 1 (01:16:34):
You guys know that.

Speaker 5 (01:16:35):
Nineteen seventy five he drops out of Harvard and co
founds a world famous company.

Speaker 1 (01:16:40):
Are you seriously hey?

Speaker 3 (01:16:42):
Bill Gates?

Speaker 1 (01:16:42):
Bill Gates, Yeah, I got it. You should have got
that on the first one. Anyways. This actress's films oh
three point nine billion worldwide grossing.

Speaker 5 (01:16:55):
One of the highest paid actresses in the world. Twenty
five millions she got for one film. People magazine named
her the most beautiful woman in the.

Speaker 1 (01:17:02):
World five times. Julian Roberts, Yes, okay, is it?

Speaker 3 (01:17:08):
Actually yeah?

Speaker 1 (01:17:09):
It is Julian acting there especially very suspicious. Donnie doesn't
get it. How are you gonna get Julia Roberts, I mean,
so you reached. You're reading People magazine a lot she's
very attractive, so that that tracks with that she's very popular.

Speaker 4 (01:17:27):
This just in there's a lot of Hollywood actresses who
are very attractive.

Speaker 1 (01:17:31):
Yeah, but five times that's a long longevity of a career.

Speaker 5 (01:17:35):
Yeah, which is which? And I longevity one? This is
uh the longevity. Guys are on this side of the fence,
not you anyways.

Speaker 4 (01:17:44):
Last one, we didn't win any People magazine contest. That's
very suspicious, even if Bill Gates want is suspicious.

Speaker 1 (01:17:51):
A little bit suspicious on Gates as well. Let they
go here, last one.

Speaker 5 (01:17:55):
This American actor is known for his roles as dark, unconventional,
and eccentric characters. His brother was also a prominent actor.
They were the first brothers to both receive Acting Academy
Award nomination.

Speaker 1 (01:18:08):
Keen Phoenix got it, nailed it? What's his who's his brother?
River River?

Speaker 3 (01:18:13):
The late River Foenix.

Speaker 5 (01:18:15):
His brother was a great actor. He sadly passed away
at a young age. But man, I think he was
only twenty three nine.

Speaker 1 (01:18:21):
But he was so good. River Phoenix King's not bad. Oh,
he's a great actor too. Remember I was.

Speaker 4 (01:18:26):
Wondering about him him being in Gladiator. He's so good
in that needless to say, Joker is one of my
favorite movies. I was so disappointed in the second in
the sequel, let.

Speaker 1 (01:18:37):
Oh gosh, that might have been his best acting.

Speaker 3 (01:18:39):
Performing, ringiest thing of all tish the hip hop career.

Speaker 1 (01:18:43):
It was so good.

Speaker 3 (01:18:44):
Yeah, okay, is it just me? He's coming up?

Speaker 4 (01:18:47):
John Anderson turned eighty one this past Saturday, lead singer
for the British Band, another former Whaler John Anderson, Oh
not that guy. The British Band is going to play
us out October eighty three. The album nine one one
twenty five. This is Yes, an owner of a Lonely Heart.
A check where prog rock lives on a BC Tuesday morning,
Is it just me?

Speaker 3 (01:19:07):
Nerks you before we get to the meet of is
it just me?

Speaker 1 (01:19:21):
Some news surrounding Quinn Hughes this morning and Rogers are
ina it.

Speaker 5 (01:19:25):
Yeah, it's a lower body injury. They're going to reevaluate him.
The good news done. It's not related to any of
his injuries in the past. But that's scarticularly last season.

Speaker 1 (01:19:35):
That scares me when they say they're going to reevaluate
him because they just announced he was injured, and when
you usually go for reevaluation it's nagging.

Speaker 4 (01:19:43):
Not playing tonight against his old buddy JT. Miller that
your Demko gets the start in goal. Tom Leelander making
his NHL debut.

Speaker 1 (01:19:53):
Absolutely all right, Harry go.

Speaker 5 (01:19:55):
Absolutely no video tribute, says Brad and Langley for Miller,
because he caused the entire problem. He doesn't get a
pass on what he did in the dressing room. Well, Brad,
it takes two to tangle. The issue was Miller and Peterson.
Both those guys deserve equal blame for what they did
to the Vancouver Canucks last year.

Speaker 1 (01:20:12):
Equal blame.

Speaker 3 (01:20:13):
Trevor and Ladimir.

Speaker 1 (01:20:14):
Is it just me?

Speaker 3 (01:20:15):
But Rick with task went to Red Deer? Is it
an hour drive? Not just outside? Are you sure you
work there? Again?

Speaker 4 (01:20:22):
That's Trevor, I said, I told you I lived at
Red Deer for three years with what tasking was a hike.

Speaker 3 (01:20:28):
I used to go to Red Deer from with Task
when Donne, Yeah, for over an hour to get there.

Speaker 1 (01:20:32):
But this is nineteen ninety forty. You want me to
remember every single second what.

Speaker 3 (01:20:36):
What constitutes just outside thirty minutes? It's in Alberta thirty minutes.
This is an hour and a bit.

Speaker 5 (01:20:42):
Uh forty four forty five minutes. I don't believe what
he's saying. I did for forty five Go look at this.

Speaker 1 (01:20:50):
Doyle Brunson would have stayed the whole game, Alex Eve.

Speaker 3 (01:20:55):
Well, look Princeton.

Speaker 4 (01:20:56):
When Pratt and I had the famous fighter infamous argument,
he was in his seventies. Sandy Kofax, Yeah, watched the
eighty nine you look you look great eighty nine years old,
saw the whole game, went and visited the Dodgers and
Will Klein afterwards.

Speaker 3 (01:21:10):
That was impressive. And yet Ryan couldn't make it to
the whole game. You I'm not buying the you watch.

Speaker 5 (01:21:15):
I stayed eighteen, but I made the commitment. If we
go to nineteen, I'm out. I got to get my
six to eight hours sleep, because if you don't get that,
it's bad. DONNYA god for you, go hold on, where's
this guy already?

Speaker 3 (01:21:28):
But task one?

Speaker 1 (01:21:28):
Yeah? We task one? Hey, you and I've both been there?
Is it just me?

Speaker 5 (01:21:34):
I was a Miller fan, but when the team needed
in the most, he quit. Miller doesn't deserve a video tribute.
Martin and Chetwyn from Beautiful Downtown. Chetwyn, you and I
book a lot of people feel that way. But you
talk about when the team needed him the most in
the two playoff runs, if you want to call him
that that they had with JT. Miller twenty and twenty four,
he was outstanding and let the team in point. Yes,

(01:21:55):
and well, twenty twenty was tied with the LEAs Peterson
in points and that, and there's playoffs and then twenty
four is one hundred and three point season.

Speaker 3 (01:22:03):
He led them in points in the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (01:22:05):
Was anybody bitching about j T when he took the
Canucks to Game seven against the Owners just two years ago?

Speaker 3 (01:22:09):
No brad mission?

Speaker 1 (01:22:13):
Is it just me?

Speaker 4 (01:22:14):
But do any of you guys know if the Lions
will open the Upper Bowl this week? And a lot
of guys waiting to buy tickets there. We just assumed
the Upper Bowl is going to be opening. The white
Caps opened, the Lions have been opening it up during
the regular season.

Speaker 3 (01:22:27):
Saturday two thirty kickoff being a tough.

Speaker 1 (01:22:29):
Sell because they just beached this catch when they don't
got a two to three week head start, so it's
probably a little bit tougher.

Speaker 3 (01:22:37):
Freddy, Why is that tougher?

Speaker 1 (01:22:38):
Because if they would have clinched this playoffs Game three
weeks ago done, they would have three weeks now they
only lost six seven days. Yeah, okay, Freddy, that's the
way football goes though. Yeah, that's right. Freddy Freeman.

Speaker 5 (01:22:50):
The only player in the series who plays for Canada's team,
the Canadian national team, was a hero last night. Thanks
love it, Nick and north Burnaby. Thanks for pointing that out.

Speaker 3 (01:22:58):
What doesn't Vladdy Guerrero play for Canada?

Speaker 1 (01:23:00):
Yeah, that's a really good question.

Speaker 3 (01:23:02):
Well, I think he's closely more he was born in Montreal,
more closely associated Dominican. Is it just me, but is
Darth Vader in your studio or is that Rix breathing again?
I'm signed?

Speaker 1 (01:23:15):
Who's that?

Speaker 3 (01:23:17):
I'm signed?

Speaker 1 (01:23:17):
I'm signed.

Speaker 5 (01:23:18):
Unbelievable these guys. I don't have a breathing issue. I
hope I don't because if I but I think whenever.

Speaker 1 (01:23:22):
We have technical difficulties or the show doesn't go really well,
you're you're breathing because we're live TV. I get heavy breathing.
I get excited if it's it's live TV. Look at this.
J T.

Speaker 5 (01:23:34):
Miller should absolutely get a video tribute. Then get booed merciless,
mercilessly for the rest of the game. For quitting on
the team. Tony in abspur coming in hot.

Speaker 3 (01:23:43):
Hot, Okay, jap Jill?

Speaker 1 (01:23:49):
Is it just me?

Speaker 3 (01:23:50):
Or should the Canucks trade back for JT. Miller?

Speaker 4 (01:23:52):
He's clearly underperforming because he's no longer on the Canucks.
I'm just joking, or am I? I don't think he's
coming back to the conduct. Trevor Linden did come back.

Speaker 1 (01:24:04):
Trevor came back.

Speaker 3 (01:24:05):
Ryl snips.

Speaker 5 (01:24:06):
The guy I tried to get back, if you can,
is not Miller. It's Horvat. But you know, don't get
me going on how he left this city. He wanted
to he wanted to stay, He wanted to stay.

Speaker 1 (01:24:16):
But they picked They picked the other guy over him.

Speaker 3 (01:24:21):
Don die from Nanaimo.

Speaker 1 (01:24:22):
Is it just me?

Speaker 4 (01:24:22):
But imagine if the Knucks had I kept Horvat and
Miller and traded eleven six instead. Don Dee's words, not mine,
they would although I have used that before, they would
have two big physical centers at almost the same salary.
What a great point on n it's almost the same.
But I don't know how many people I talked to

(01:24:44):
just out in the boat, talking with the people, man
of the people, Man of the people. I don't know
how many people to go back to twenty twenty four
when they had Miller, when they had Zadoroff and they
had that team.

Speaker 1 (01:24:56):
With edge big did so well drawoffs, and that seems
to have gone away. Key for sure, what is great?

Speaker 3 (01:25:01):
He would have fit in there. In fact, he played against.

Speaker 1 (01:25:04):
The Canucks for Nashville in twenty twenty four. But so
many people say.

Speaker 5 (01:25:08):
That every Stanley Cup team has a huge hawk anyway,
tons of two hundred pounders. But that's not the team
Canucks are building. I can't believe people who would leave
the game last night. It's once in a lifetime event.
It's it's the freaking World Series. Plus tickets would have
been expensive. Heraldo and Kabloops makes a good point there.

Speaker 3 (01:25:29):
Kallops is just outside of Red Deer.

Speaker 1 (01:25:31):
I think if I'm not mistake for three hours away
dawn stop, it's also the Spain of Canada. Exactly.

Speaker 4 (01:25:37):
Okay, we'll take a break. We'll wrap up the show
and the poll question. Donnie Delly the team on check.

Speaker 1 (01:25:43):

Speaker 4 (01:26:31):
I've been saying the Rangers are last in the Eastern Conference,
second to last of the Boston Bruins.

Speaker 5 (01:26:37):
Look at the parity done. They win tonight, They're back
in eighth place, two points separate six seventeen. So at
least parody is just crazy. In the NHL Dog pull, Rick,
right up here we go the Waddling Dog poll question,
should JT. Miller get a video tribute from the Canucks?
Seventy percent say yes and thirty percent say no. Nineteen

(01:26:59):
hundred votes. He almost said two thousand. It's hopping, it's
popping and not stopping.

Speaker 3 (01:27:05):
One of the all time great Canucks at the very
least on the ice.

Speaker 1 (01:27:09):
Absolutely, you cannot.

Speaker 5 (01:27:10):
No one was bitching about this guy till last year
when him and Peterson got in the fight, and then
you know, he didn't ask for a trade. At the end,
the agent said, hey, let's work together to get him
in a better spot.

Speaker 4 (01:27:21):
Polarizing player twelve all time and Canucks points second all
time at points per game amongst Canucks players, behind only
Pavel Burriy Pitchers.

Speaker 1 (01:27:30):
All right, all right, where we're going. This is when
we had carry over from yesterday one club tickets. Look
at this guy one club tickets the last night's game
against Edmonton too bad. Rick would have missed the overtime
goal to leave Ernie and get his beauty sleep Mark
and so Surrey. I would have left Ernie done, not overtime.
I would never leave overtime game early, but I would

(01:27:50):
certainly when the goal was scored a dash run for sure.

Speaker 3 (01:27:54):
Why do you go to events so good?

Speaker 1 (01:27:56):
Good of you? So you want to spend forty minutes
in downtown trying to get out of downtown? But Rick,
if you why do you go to an event with
twenty thousand people? But do you walk in and go. Yeah,
there's a lot of people here. I want to get
out as quick as possible and beat the traffic. What's
wrong with that?

Speaker 3 (01:28:12):
Dave from Lake Couches, Dave, we're.

Speaker 1 (01:28:17):
Going overseas, We're going down under, down Under. It's from Australia.
All right, dude, that was good. I was just gonna
say the same.

Speaker 5 (01:28:27):
Look at this in Australia, visiting family for the path.
Look at that Woody from Ladder.

Speaker 1 (01:28:35):
Perfect. You were just talking Kelsey. That's Woody. Woody's a
good guy from Ladder in Australia, visiting family for the
past month. Celebrated my eighty second birthday while I was there.

Speaker 3 (01:28:48):
She looks great.

Speaker 1 (01:28:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:28:49):
Picture was taken in Port Douglas. Look at Woody what
he looks like? A million bucks? Beautiful?

Speaker 1 (01:28:55):
Beat you kept beat that Port Douglas, Australia. Happy eighty second.

Speaker 4 (01:29:00):
Eighty two and I bet you he would have watched
all eighteen innings last night.

Speaker 5 (01:29:04):
What do you want to watch the ball? Because what
he's a good guy. Happy second? Yes, from Ladder good stuff.

Speaker 3 (01:29:11):
How are you doing for time?

Speaker 1 (01:29:12):
Do you want to get in the video? Quick? Go?
Se Jeff Patterson, you wanted this. Look at this JT. Miller.
There he is right there, Rictes Arena as they take
the ice for morning skate today at the Roger.

Speaker 4 (01:29:25):
Two goals in ten games for JT. Miller again, the
Rangers fifteenth, second to last in the Eastern Conference, coming
off that horrible loss Calgary five to one against the
Flames team that's also been struggling.

Speaker 1 (01:29:39):
They got to be better and he's the captain. They
got to be better.

Speaker 3 (01:29:42):
Done there. They got to be better and he is
the captain.

Speaker 1 (01:29:46):
Absolutely.

Speaker 4 (01:29:47):
I will recap that game tomorrow obviously. Thanks so much
for tuning in, folks putting up with us today.
