How are You Lovely? Couldn't be better to unpack from
last night, including the Jays tying up the World Series
(01:04):
with a six two victory down in Los Angeles. Game five,
Stop with the fist pumping please Game five tonight at
Dodger Stadium. Not everybody's a JAS team. Resilient, no come back,
don't give up. Go Jays. Yeah, you probably didn't watch
the whole game. I did, I did, I did. I did.
(01:25):
Also last night Rogers Arena, the Rangers over the Canucks
to nothing. Uneventful game. I just expected more energy from
the from the home side, and it just it just
it wasn't there. Canucks had now lost four or five.
Let's hit the highlights because there's a lot to uneventful
and yet a lot to unpack from that game, including
(01:48):
yet another significant Canuck injury. Derek, We're good, rock and roll,
Rogers Arena, Vancouver, BC. J T. Miller returns to Griffiths
Way video tribute, standing ovation wave to the crowd. All
rightfully So, late first period, Adam Fox lead past to
Meeka's a beinajad. Will Cooley back does the benajad. He
(02:12):
takes advantage of a defensive breakdown one nothing Rangers in
the road, white with the familiar blue and red trim.
They've got pants stripes too. Oh. Then Connor Garland hammered
by Sam Carrick. That's a lidlifter. A down goes Garland.
And Marcus Petterson comes to his defense, drops the gloves
with Krick. They go toe tip toe, and in the end,
(02:32):
Krrick's tow comes out on top. But good on MP
twenty nine. Coming to Connor Garland's defense, Let's go to
the third period. Okay, guys, let's go to the third period.
Eleas Petterson draws two defenders and feeds Jake but Jonathan
Quick with a save reminiscent of a young jill Villemere.
It stays one nothing just speaking of toases until this
(02:55):
Sam Carrick with thatcher damp could pulled long range into
the game six by four. That was it. Rangers blank
the Canducks two zip Connacks at Saint Louis Thursday to
begin a three game road trip. Eleas Petterson, I think
he thought there was going to be an icing there.
Let the puck go on the Carrick empty netter and
(03:17):
into the on engagent it went there.
Speaker 4 (03:19):
I was a little surprised he didn't make a bit
of an effort to kind of, you know.
Speaker 3 (03:22):
Dive stop it. Yeah, miscalculation and yeah, look, I know
this isn't the number one takeaway from the game, but
I think last night I thought he was pretty good.
I thought his solid play continues. As for j T. Miller,
what he was up to other than waving to the crowd,
getting the ovation, getting the video tribute, which we thought
(03:45):
was going to happen. Yeah, yesterday I had no points.
But nineteen twenty four ice time, two shots, five attempts,
one hit, one block, eleven and three on faceoffs. He's great.
You can say what you want about j T. Miller,
the Canucks smiths, among other things that aspect of his game.
Speaker 4 (04:01):
Oh, he's great in the face off draw. He's also
hard skill. He's also six feet two hundred pounder. Oh geez, Yeah,
there's a lot to like.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Yeah, yeah, and yet you were all stop Donnie Okay,
twelfth all time and points second twelfth all time in
Katock's points, second all time in Kinnocks points per game. JT.
Miller comes back to Rogers Arena and his team conquers.
And it has not been a positive start for the
New York Rangers, So some positivity last night for them.
(04:33):
I thought Jonathan Quick was really good last night. What
is he six hundred years old? Sure? But uh, and
I we'll run this clip later on the show if
we have time. But he was good. Lo Thattri Damco
ad midmitted Jonathan Quick got the best of him, and
there was a small part of Thatcher who was okay
with that. Jonathan Quick was his idol growing up. They
(04:55):
got the same agent who wrote, well, that's not why
he was his idol, But I'm just tell you a little.
It's because he Thatrick Dampko is a California kid, that's right,
and growing up when the Kings were winning their Stanley
cupson he loved him some Jonathan Quick. So two nothing
Rangers over the Canucks. Again, a lot to unpack, but
(05:16):
let's start with this. Connor Garland, Yes, getting injured last night.
You saw the hit by Sam Carrick. Now he continued
to play, but eventually I left the game. That's some
kind of hit and you rarely see. Garland's one of
the better, probably maybe the best in the league amongst
small players, avoiding the hit, not shying away from hits,
(05:39):
but avoiding the hit. And by the way, good on
Marcus Peterson again for sticking up for his teammate. I
don't know if he expected him to do that, but again,
good on him. Good on him. What's the latest on
Connor Garland.
Speaker 4 (05:50):
Well, that's the second hit in the neutral zone. Heeled
the first one, Donnie. Look boom, you know that shop
The early word is you know, and it's early with injuries,
you know, go up and down. But I'm hearing Connor
is not serious, but also hearing he most likely is
not going on this road trip Donnie. The fact that's
a big hit. He didn't come back on the third.
(06:12):
That's a heavy set guy nailing him, and that that's
running into a train right there.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
That didn't look good for me.
Speaker 4 (06:19):
He did play a little bit after that, but I'm
definitely hearing not going on the road trip early. Not serious,
but also serious enough that he.
Speaker 3 (06:27):
Doesn't want to tap the injured because it's got to
the upper body when you bring up a heatle Are
we talking about another concussion here?
Speaker 4 (06:33):
I haven't heard that. I haven't heard kept playing. It
looked like to me, don upper body shoulder. Maybe I
don't know. I'm just guessing cocussion. If he's out a week,
you know, if he's out for the trip, you're thinking
a week, right, you know you're thinking that. But I mean,
all up in the air early on Connor Garland. But boy,
oh boy, that's the last guy. First of all, Quinn
Hughes is out, then you lose your leading point gutter. Now, Donnie,
(06:57):
that's the two main drivers of offense for your hockey
club are out. Do you want to know why they
had eleven shots after forty minutes of play last night?
Speaker 3 (07:06):
They're missing some key guys, but the third period was
pretty good. Bet they didn't score any goals. They had
batter shots and gold.
Speaker 4 (07:12):
Yeah, I'm sure they got the red the right act
in the second period, Donny. Okay, So with that in mind,
the Canucks have made some moves. We got this tweet
from the Canucks Twitter account here, Ryan, Cannucks have made
some moves, Rick all right. General manager Patrick Elvin announced
today that Niles Amon signed to Abersberg and forward mackenzie
(07:32):
mckachran has been recalled from Abbitsburg. You made the great point.
Dad Garland's out. He's a winger. A Mon's a center.
Mackenzie mckechran's a winger, although he's a left winger, a
left winger, but still they're gonna they need wingers. Donny,
I have You've been covering this team for decades and
so have I never seen injuries like this.
Speaker 3 (07:53):
This is eight. Garland is the eighth guy on the roster.
Just crazy. And then that schedule. They're playing their thirteenth game, No. Eight.
Speaker 4 (08:03):
You can't bring this don stop eighth game in thirteen
days and you think that's normal, you think that's okay. Well,
every team's going through this season, but teams in the
East don't have to travel like these guys.
Speaker 3 (08:15):
Teams in the East, Gus, you just said you've ever
seen teams.
Speaker 4 (08:17):
In the East can bust in New York to New Jersey, Philadelphia,
Pittsburgh be back in their bed on the same night
as a game.
Speaker 3 (08:24):
I think it has more to do with bad luck
than than an all bad luck too. Okay, So with
that in mind, we introduce our Waddling Dog pole question.
Speaking of injuries, Watdling Dog a pole question experience one
of Victoria's iconic destinations, sleep sip, stock up all in
one legendary spot, Come sit and stay at the dog
(08:44):
the wadling Dog. Today, Rick Ryan got her up. The
Wadling Dog poll question.
Speaker 4 (08:48):
Our injuries the main reason the Canucks have lost four
of their last five, And they have and yes seventy
percent say no. Four hundred plus votes. We posted a
little bit late, but Donnie, of course, injuries are playing
a massive You can't have eight guys out. Don No
team can sustain eight injuries on their NHL roster. Look
(09:09):
at Abbasford. They've lost five straight. They've scored seven goals
in twelve games. It's a mess. They got an East
Coast Hockey League roster in Abmsbord right now they're talking
about the the NHL team.
Speaker 3 (09:19):
Here's why they've lost four of the five.
Speaker 4 (09:22):
They've got half of Absbord in their lineup. That's why
they've lost four found it's not sustainable. You can't have
half of your American Hockey League roster in Vancouver. You can't, Sorry, Doc.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Connor, Garland, Quinn, Hughes, Philip Headel. There's Blueger, Licor Mackie forback,
Hoglander and Mancini all injured. And we're talking talking about
key players. Garland, Hughes, Heetel, they've really missed a Blueger
injured in camp and preseason comes back, and then this
(09:54):
season was short, short lived at least the start of it,
missing some real key players. Hoglander you almost forget about.
He hasn't played this season. And then forward it's good
on the p K. There's a whole lot there. I
agree with you. It can't be used as an excuse.
It is an excuse. It can be done. Are you
serious or joking? I'm serious. But when you talk about
(10:16):
the schedule, I just I think every team is dealing
with and you think the schedule is compacted eight injuries.
Speaker 4 (10:24):
Let's go to your minor hockey coaching days and let's
say you guys had your you were you're the A
team they had eight injuries.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Now you got to go get guys from I'm saying
it's an excuse. So I don't know if the schedule
can be used as excuse because every team is going
through it right right now and will as as the
season wear is on again. Take a look at January,
in March for the Canucks, February of course there's the
Olympic break. But boy, those you think the schedule is
compact right now? Wain of those months?
Speaker 4 (10:52):
This is unheard of. Like I'm sorry, guys, but Quinn, Hughes,
Heael and Garland are the ones that hurt the most
because they simply put you in a position not to
score goals because they'd they drive to play and this
is I don't know how they're gonna do on this
road trip. I don't know how they're gonna do.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Okay, So with that in mind, the injuries, and we
want to talk some more about Adam Foote. But here
here's Adam foot on a postgame clip and now his team,
his players can't let frustration or any excuses, but can't
let frustration set in when it comes to all these injuries.
Speaker 5 (11:26):
You know, I don't think you can't even think that way,
like and it's a good question, because I think it's
a fair question, and but I think you just can't
go that way, you know what I mean, Like, there's
we're going to keep going the way we're going, and
you know, you keep those guys that we came out
flat and got a real emotional game against Edmonton, right
and it was a tough one. Then you come out
with a real team that's not been happy with their
(11:48):
game I think, maybe happy with their game, but not
their results. And you know, they've been in one themselves
where they've been on themselves, and they came out really
hard and stiff on the walls, and it took us
a while to get into it. But we did get
into it and you saw us, you know, he felt
like everyone went in it was going to be there.
But it is the next man up and there's nothing
you can do except keep calling and that's what we're
(12:11):
gonna do.
Speaker 3 (12:13):
Adam Foot. So with Adam Foot in mind, now coming
under some criticism or people wondering if this was a
smart idea. I mentioned it was a pretty uneventful game
and the Canucks energy lo I'd a buddy of mine
go to the game last night. He just said it
was there was just no energy in the building JTM.
(12:34):
There was no fire with them, with the Cannucks. So
Adam Foot is coming under some criticism for what happened
during the Cannucks morning skate. He skated them hard at
the end of that practice, if you want to call
it right. So this is video evidence here. Sorry for
our podcast listeners they can't see this, but you get
(12:55):
the idea. This this just doesn't happen. So Rick, we're
just talking about the schedule and how tough it is.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
It's a good idea, No, I don't think so. Especially
they're just coming off a five game road trip. They
come home, they're playing three and four at home at home,
just played back to back, Donnie on the weekend, Montreal
and Evonton back to back. This schedule is insane. A
lot of people are shocked and surprised that Foot would
do this, very surprised.
Speaker 3 (13:21):
I always think it's a good idea for coaches, and
I admire the head coaches who, through the drudgery of
an eighty two game schedule, do something a little bit
different just to wake to wake everybody up. I always
remember Mark Crawford get their attention. Yeah, when he was
coaching the Canucks and they were on an eastern road
(13:42):
trip and taking the team, the players to his hometown
of Belleville, and they had an outdoor practice. Remember that,
just something, just something a little bit different. Now, you know,
can argue whether whether or not at work, but I
admire coaches who are aware that you know, the season,
you know, goes on and on and on. Doing something
different is not a bad idea. I don't know about
(14:03):
this particular.
Speaker 4 (14:03):
I don't no, just condensed schedule, the and then the
Canucks three and three at home, and then now you
got to hop on a pin plane and.
Speaker 3 (14:11):
Go to Saint Louis. Like what a crazy schedule? Crazy? Yeah,
but again, every team is going through it and the
other people who are getting well, not so much Lucas Richele,
but Evander Kine, Oh he's getting But both of those
players on the vintagead goal and you know what, people
(14:31):
can help me out here and if it was the
end of their shift, whatever the case may be. But
backchecking was an issue there, Well, hold it a second.
You got to put some blame on the kid defenseman
Patterson got caught up high. The only reason Caane Kane
actually did a good job getting back is Patterson was
caught up high the.
Speaker 4 (14:47):
Defenseman and was moving his feet. There was Yeah, but
I think that play starts. He knows that pat Petterson
got busted up high, and that's why Kane was the
last guy backing up the defenseman.
Speaker 3 (14:59):
Sometimes you got to help help each other out each
other out.
Speaker 4 (15:01):
There's no question I'm not looking Evan de Kaine's got
to get going. He's got no goals in eleven games.
People told us, oh, he's going to score twenty twenty
five goals in Vancouver. Don He took another offensive zone
penalty last night, second game in a row. That makes
coaches real mad, real mad to stop doing that.
Speaker 3 (15:18):
He's what's coming up on the show, and it's a
busy one. We'll get to the World Series later. As
a matter of fact, I know he will because look
who one of our guests is, DTMZ. Is it just
me coming up in the eleven o'clock our Larry Walker,
Baseball Hall of Famer, Pride of Maple Ridge. He's going
to join us around eleven fifteen or so to talk
(15:39):
about talk about baseball, to talk about the World Series.
He's in that documentary Who Killed the Montreal expos which
is on Netflix? Is it on right?
Speaker 6 (15:48):
Right?
Speaker 3 (15:48):
Yeah? Which is on Netflix, and we're all looking forward
to watching it. He's in it. He's also watched it.
We recorded that interview. So Larry coming up around eleven
fifteen or so. John Shannon from the One Percent Hockey
podcast will join us just after eleven o'clock. Big Ride,
the Twitter guy coming up later this hour and up
(16:08):
next from the Ross Tucker Football Podcast, CBS Sports in
Westwood one to talk NFL. It's our friend Ross Tucker.
He's next. Thanks so much for tuning in, folks. Donnie

and all of our guests today brought to you by
(17:10):
our friends at Pastime, Sports and Games. Busy times for
past time. We'll get into that a little bit later. Yesterday,
we recorded an interview with Ross Tucker or the Ross
Tucker Football Podcast, CBS Sports and Westwood One. We started
off our conversation talking about the Kansas City Chiefs defeating
Washington and Monday Night Football by a score of twenty
(17:31):
eight to seven. The Chiefs are getting healthy. They won
three straight, five of six. They're now five and three,
and we started out our conversation with Ross by asking
him where are the Chiefs right now compared to the
last very successful seasons.
Speaker 7 (17:49):
Well, certainly offensively, I think they're better.
Speaker 8 (17:52):
I mean they look better. They passed the eye test,
that's for sure. I thought the Commanders came out defensively
and really kind of played their butts off, and it
still wasn't enough. Those three drives to start the second
half by the Chiefs were incredibly impressive. Feel like the
O line is playing better than they have in recent years.
Speaker 7 (18:14):
You know, they were running the ball.
Speaker 8 (18:15):
Pretty effectively with both Pacheco and Kareem Hunt. Adding Rashi
Rice has just added a whole different element that they
hadn't had last year after he got hurt.
Speaker 7 (18:26):
To combine him with.
Speaker 8 (18:26):
Hollywood Brown and Xavier Worthy, now you got three guys
that can absolutely fly.
Speaker 7 (18:33):
And because of that, the Chiefs are really humming now.
Speaker 8 (18:36):
It's interesting because it doesn't feel like they're was good
on the defensive side of the ball.
Speaker 7 (18:42):
Although they did only give up seven points.
Speaker 8 (18:44):
It felt like Mariota and the Commanders were moving it
pretty well. And I don't think the Chiefs defense is
quite what it has been, but they're still pretty good
on that side of the ball, and the improvement on
the offensive side of the ball feels like it's enough.
Speaker 7 (18:59):
That the Chiefs better than they were last.
Speaker 8 (19:01):
Year, even with a different record. I think last year
at this point they were undefeated. But interestingly, they have
a better point differential this year compared to their opponents,
even though they have three losses already.
Speaker 3 (19:13):
We've talked about this sort of thing before Ross, but
what goes through your mind when you see a gruesome
football injury like the one suffered by camp Scatable?
Speaker 7 (19:24):
Yeah, that's tough. That is really tough.
Speaker 8 (19:27):
I've seen that a couple times on the field where
a body part was bending in an unnatural direction, and
that is really tough to stomach because it's just so
unnatural that your initial feeling is like of grossness.
Speaker 7 (19:46):
Really, I don't have a better word for that. Skataboo
in particular, I just love the way he plays. I
think everybody does.
Speaker 8 (19:54):
I mean, if you love football and you love the physicality,
and you love effort and heart and determination and grit,
and I could just keep going on with words like this,
how do you not love Camskataboo? So to see that happen,
You're upset for the team, You're upset for the fans,
and in particular upset for him because I think the
(20:15):
older I get now.
Speaker 7 (20:16):
I recognize not only is.
Speaker 8 (20:19):
It gonna be hard for him to come back from
that and any type of surgery and rehab, it's just grueling, mundane.
It's truly not fun, obviously, but you know there is
a chance he doesn't ever get back to being the
same player, and then that's also probably gonna affect him
the rest of his life. You know, I can speak
(20:40):
to that. You know, once you have some of these injuries,
it's not like, oh, I retired from football, everything feels
great now, Like that's not how the human body works.
Just because you're not playing anymore doesn't mean everything magically
turns back to being one hundred percent okay.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
And this is something else we've talked about before, but
it was very interests, so I don't don't mind asking
it again. How tough is it to get back to
work as a player after seeing something like that?
Speaker 8 (21:09):
You know, I've been in that situation a number of times. Actually,
the scariest ones are usually when when it's like a
neck spine thing and the guy, you know, they put
him on the backboard, they take the face mask off.
I was part of a game where a guy actually
got ambulanced off the field and you really don't know
(21:29):
how bad it is. You know that they're taught to
take precautions, which is.
Speaker 7 (21:33):
Good, but you're not really sure. You don't see if
you don't see the guy moving or whatever. The best
way I can.
Speaker 8 (21:40):
Describe it is that the first play after that it's
sort of surreal and it feels like it's slow motion.
The second play totally back to normal, like it never happened.
I don't know why that is. It's like the first
play is awkward and it's like, you know, bam, you're
(22:03):
right back to like like it never happened. I don't
know what the dynamic of that is, the human psychology,
but that was at least my experience.
Speaker 3 (22:10):
Hey, Ross v MVP talk.
Speaker 4 (22:12):
We're always talking quarterbacks, but we got to talk about
Jonathan Taylor, the Colts running back. Man, is he having
a great season? Where is he in your estimation when
it comes to the MVP talk?
Speaker 8 (22:24):
So what's so interesting about that, Rick is he's fantastic
and I think he's obviously the favorite for Offensive Player.
Speaker 3 (22:31):
Of the Year.
Speaker 7 (22:32):
Feels like he's sort of this year's Sakuon in terms
of having an incredible year. But you know, They've had
him a lot of years. I think the guy that's
providing the most value with Daniel Jones.
Speaker 8 (22:45):
You know, and I'm not one of those people that
loves that the quarterbacks get all the attention and.
Speaker 7 (22:49):
Always win the award or whatever. But let's split this way.
Speaker 8 (22:53):
If you ask the Colts would they rather have Daniel
Jones or Jonathan Taylor Taylor, they would say Daniel Jones
because they know how important it is that someone is
operating that position efficiently. I'm not sure why Daniel Jones
isn't getting more attention for MVP. Those two guys might
split the vote. Taylor might be putting up a little
(23:14):
bit more eye popping numbers.
Speaker 7 (23:16):
You know. The MVP might be is the.
Speaker 8 (23:18):
Colts offensive line, because they've been the best group in
football so far this year. They've been absolutely fantastic. So
maybe the Colts O line should be the MVP. But
I'm a believer. I have been for a long time.
I think they are really that good.
Speaker 4 (23:34):
The Browns are two and six, all right, and there's
Miles Garrett of five sack game against the Patriots, Like,
how much do you admire a guy that brings it
every game? Despite how bad.
Speaker 8 (23:45):
His team is, oh Rick, what's gotten into you? That's
your second consecutive good question. You guys are speaking my
language today. You know, the guys that I absolutely adore
are guys like Miles Garrett, Max Crosby of the Raiders,
(24:07):
Jeffrey Simmons of the Titans. These guys, year after year
play for bad teams. So they're losing a lot, and
they're getting consistently double and triple teamed because they really
don't have teammates around them that can help to take
the pressure off. Yet they battle every snap every game.
(24:33):
They are the targeted one. They're the ones that the
offensive line talks about all week. We're all trying to
get our extra shot in on them to help our buddy,
and yet they just battle. It's super, super impressive, the
mental toughness part of that.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
At Ross Packers that beat Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers
thirty five twenty five Jordan Love three hundred and sixty
yards three TDS. Tell us about your Twitter history with
Jordan Love.
Speaker 7 (25:04):
Oh Man, that's amazing. I love stuff like that.
Speaker 8 (25:08):
You know it was twenty twenty one Rogers was heard
or sick maybe COVID. I don't know, and so Jordan
Love got his first start four twenty five pm Eastern time.
They're playing at the Kansas City Chiefs and Packers come
out for their first series run run third.
Speaker 7 (25:28):
Downs incomplete pass.
Speaker 8 (25:30):
So I post on Twitter at Ross Tucker NFL you
should all follow so that you have I mean imagine
I feel bad for people that don't follow me on Twitter.
Speaker 7 (25:39):
I mean, like, think.
Speaker 8 (25:40):
About all the stuff you're missing out on or any
social media. At Ross Tucker NFL. A little bit tongue
in cheek. Hopefully you guys are getting that. So I
posted Jordan Love is terrible, confirmed horrible pick Packers screwed
for the next twenty years. It was obviously hilarious in
(26:02):
the moment. But what some dweebs do is like years later,
when Jordan Love was playing well in the playoff game
against the Cowboys, they search Twitter for people saying bad
things about Jordan Love and then they repost my post
(26:24):
making fun of me, or replying making fun.
Speaker 7 (26:28):
Of me, saying, oh, what do you think now? How's
your evaluation?
Speaker 3 (26:32):
Now?
Speaker 8 (26:33):
My evaluation is that you are a minion and a moron,
and that you don't understand sarcasm or realize that Twitter
x has time stamps and that that was literally thrown
after the first pass of his career.
Speaker 7 (26:51):
It was sarcasm.
Speaker 8 (26:52):
Even if I thought Jordan Love stunk, I wouldn't write
Packers Confirmed screw rude.
Speaker 7 (27:00):
For the next twenty years. I mean, use your brain
a little bit.
Speaker 8 (27:06):
But that's not people that they're so excited to think
they have something on somebody that they got to fire
that thing off right away without realizing that they're looking
like a real Dolly wall As opposed they're looking like
a Donnie you know.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
There you go, there, you go. Hey, you know what,
you know what needs to happen a sarcasm emoji. Yeah,
somebody comes up with that. They can they can retire?
Speaker 9 (27:30):
Yeah, Ross, so what it's almost better the other way though,
it's almost better. It's it's it's like it's a it's
a it's a very productive way for society to separate
smart people from dumb people. That's one of the greatest
things about social media is it's right there.
Speaker 8 (27:47):
People are showing you how dumb they are every day
and we all get to see it together.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
Nothing dumb about this segment. Ross, Thanks for this. I
know we've got a busy weekend.
Speaker 7 (27:59):
Yeah, man too, games. It should be fun. Thank you
guys for having me. Take care.
Speaker 3 (28:04):

Speaker 4 (29:36):
Our injuries the main reason the Canucks have lost four
of their past five overwhelming seventy two percent say yes,
twenty eight percent say no, six hundred and fifty two votes.
It's starting to hop and pop on a Tuesday Wednesday
Wednesday morning, and let's go.
Speaker 3 (29:50):
Let's go. You're one off. The eighteen inning game threw
me off. Don you didn't watch all of it, but
I can understand that. Okay, you have an update regarding
can injuries. We saw Connor Garland not complete the game
last night after the carrick hit. What do you have
for us?
Speaker 4 (30:06):
So we told you that Connor Garland's not going. Now
we got an update from Patrick Johnson on Blue Sky.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
What's Blue Sky? Right? Huh? Is it? What the kids
go on.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
It's another well not really another social you're on there,
it's another social.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
Media, don't. I don't do much on there though, But
it had its day. It had its day.
Speaker 4 (30:26):
I don't know if it's over the Instagram all this
other stuff. Yeah, there's too many things. Anyways. Patrick Alvin
has told Patrick Johnson, Connor Garland, and Quinn Hughes are
not traveling today. They're going to Saint Louis. Alvin says
he's hopeful that Hughes can join the team in either
Minnesota or Nashville, so that's somewhat positive.
Speaker 3 (30:46):
Minnesota Saturday, Nashville on mon Monday.
Speaker 4 (30:49):
It's a short three game road trip done.
Speaker 3 (30:51):
So you know.
Speaker 4 (30:54):
But we told you about Garland at the top of
the show, and now we find out Hughes is not
going on this team. I just unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (31:02):
Well, teams get injured. It's not shocking. Don three or
four injuries, maybe five six the max.
Speaker 4 (31:09):
This is as all they need. It's not that this
is the this is it's like a hurricane hitting you.
This is not good. It's not good at all.
Speaker 3 (31:18):
And also, in case he missed our first segment, the
conducts have sent down to Abbotsford nills them on. They
need some help. There up comes NHL journeyman, rofessional journeyman,
not Sean but mckickry, mackenzie, mccachry. Yeah, you remember the
Seawn that played in Buffalo in Ottawa. Well you didn't
(31:38):
remember it before the show, remember him before the show.
But yeah, yeah, McKenzie and mcachren. Good on him. Good
for him. Saint Louis Carolina, one hundred and twenty three
NHL games, he was, He was good in camp preseason,
Yeah he was. It was Adam Foot talked about him
a little bit. Okay, let's get back to last night's game.
Got the the video of j T Miller getting his
(31:59):
because we were wondering are they gonna have a video tribute?
It didn't end the best way from JT Miller in
Vancouver didn't. But last time we're wonning would he get
a video tribute? He did? Not only did he get
a video tribute, but a heartfelt standing ovation at Rogers
Arena for j T. Miller. And as we can to
(32:19):
continue with this segment, here is J T. Miller post
game last night, his reaction to the reception he received
at Rogers.
Speaker 6 (32:28):
Arena it's just surreal, Like I you don't realize how
lucky you are. And I'm just really happy that my
kids got to be here today and my wife means
the time to me, and I.
Speaker 10 (32:40):
Just feel like super.
Speaker 6 (32:40):
Lucky to have that support in a hockey crazy city.
You know, it was a really special chapter of our
lives here.
Speaker 10 (32:47):
We were able to kind of soak it in that moment.
Speaker 6 (32:50):
Honestly, No, we had power play and we were worried
about having a good rep. So im gonna I'm gonna
probably soak it in tonight. Go see my kiddos right
now and you I'll celebrate the win much need to
win for our team.
Speaker 3 (33:00):
He got emotional there. He did. And if you remember, folks,
and you can criticize J. T. Miller all you want,
like you often do about his time here in Vancouver,
but his family was involved in the in the community
charity things like that, his wife.
Speaker 4 (33:16):
Did a great job in the community and don when
they signed him for eight years, the plan was never
to trade him. You don't sign a guy, you don't
sign a guy. That's why he's emotional. He didn't sign
on the dotted line.
Speaker 3 (33:27):
He was months away, so other long term contracts that
maybe they'd like to get rid of.
Speaker 4 (33:30):
Yeah, oh yes, I think so. But he didn't. He
was months away from being a UFA. He could have
signed back in his hometown of Pittsburgh, could have signed
with his old team, the Rangers, could have went to Winter.
He decided, I want to sign in Vancouver. Again, it
was an emotional decision by him.
Speaker 3 (33:45):
He did that.
Speaker 4 (33:46):
There wasn't supposed to end in a trade two years
later after signing for eight years.
Speaker 3 (33:51):
Yeah, but he could.
Speaker 4 (33:52):
Yeah, well that's why he's emotional. He could have signed
in his hometown of Pittsburgh a few months away.
Speaker 3 (33:57):
But I mean, well he was emotional because there's good
memories or he he is, and you know, I'm not
the only one that feels this way. He's an all
time great Canuck. He has twelfth all time and scoring
second all time. Keep going on about this in points
per game, some great moments Game five against Edmonton being
being one of them. Outstanding Riddy player. And yeah, there
(34:19):
were issues you know, in the odd and we talked
about backchecking earlier in the show The Odd Time when
he didn't backcheck maybe as hard as he he should
have his teammates. But you just look at that clip.
You could tell from day one here in Vancouver that
he cared. Oh, he cared about winning. Didn't always show it,
you know, but he definitely cared. And again you saw
(34:40):
it in that clip. So JT. Miller, good on the
Canucks video tribute, Good on the fans standing ovation.
Speaker 4 (34:47):
Loved it and on we go. Did I hear a
scattering of booze in his first shift? I?
Speaker 3 (34:53):
Well, you did scattering. You know what? Rick was like
a lot. I think we talked about this yesterday. It
was like a lot of people expected that he got
the ovation, the standing ovation from what I could hear
and tell, all positive, but when he touched the puck
there was a smattering of bush. People were remembering some
(35:13):
of the bad moments and how he left and how
like a lot of people will say, I give up
on the team in the end, but he wanted out.
He wasn't the only great player to want out of Vancouver.
So good on the Canucks taking the high road. I
think it was a no brainer.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
It was a very good night for him in that
sense for sure.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
With the video tributes. Okay, you watched the World Series
game last night, what are.
Speaker 4 (35:39):
You talking about I was flipping back and forth on
it was beautiful, it was beautiful.
Speaker 3 (35:42):
You did watch it? Yes, I could? How could I
miss it? Why would I miss it? I don't know.
Speaker 4 (35:46):
I don't think that's a resilient team. No, George Springer,
Come on, Gunny, eighteen innings, a heartbreaking lost the night before.
Speaker 3 (35:54):
You can say what you wanted for them. G I'm
telling you it was great. Its beautiful and all those.
Speaker 4 (36:01):
People, including you two. Oh, the Dodgers are gonna sweep them,
sweep them.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
I never said that, Yes you did. The guy was
I said. I'm said I'd rather see the Dodgers win.
I'll admit that. I think Ryan feels the same way.
I don't think I called I'll call this this team
is resilient. It was a team effort. Look at this.
Don't work for Rogers anymore? Look at this? Look at
two run shot? Boy? Did I jump?
Speaker 1 (36:25):
I did the Toyota jump when I saw this last night.
I'll tell you if I mister corporation here, stop it down.
Speaker 3 (36:32):
Anyways, Canada's team. Look at that.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
He's got seven homers in the playoffs. He's got fourteen RBI.
This guy right here and his dad played in Montreal.
You know that anyways, most people do. Actually anyways, Uh,
this guy is a records left right and center and
boy team record team record, seven homers and fourteen rbi
in a in a playoff. But boom, look at this
(36:56):
a little high from a tawny and boy he got it.
Speaker 3 (36:58):
Well, I think that that to me was uh my
biggest takeaway is they made? And I haven't seen this before.
Show Hey, Otani look human last night, but.
Speaker 4 (37:09):
He also pitched seven innings into the seventh thought after
going to.
Speaker 3 (37:13):
You know what he was he wasn't as sharp as
he is? Is he human?
Speaker 4 (37:17):
THEO Way nine play nine he got on base nine
times the night before, and then he was talking about yesterday.
Speaker 3 (37:23):
Rick, he looked at human and he played all eighteen
innings yesterday are probably in game three if I'm not mistaken.
And Ryan, you had an interesting anecdote from yesterday's game
regarding a hat.
Speaker 1 (37:38):
Yeah, apparently he was going down to the locker room.
Show he was in between innings because they were trying
to keep fluids in him and keep his energy up,
and he at one point apparently came up to the
dugout area wearing their alternate hat which it has the
D instead of LA.
Speaker 3 (37:56):
It's not the D. And uh that one of their.
Speaker 1 (37:59):
Bench co just said, dude, you have to go back
and change your hat down there, and he went, oh, man,
I had to go change it up. So I didn't know.
Apparently John Smoltz was talking about this a lot. Apparently,
unlike any other athlete he's been around. Apparently show Hey
like is religious for his sleep, like needs his sleep.
Speaker 3 (38:17):
And they anticipate.
Speaker 1 (38:18):
He didn't get to bed until around one thirty two
am yesterday morning ahead of pitching, so.
Speaker 3 (38:23):
Like Smoltz was talking about getting me wrong. There were
some very positive moments for him. Oh yeah, it's just
that he looked. He looked human.
Speaker 4 (38:30):
Yeah, needs to sleep, like ninety nine point nine percent
of the rest of the public. No, but Schmaltz was
just pointing that out. And he was also saying, a
starting pitcher, everybody I need. Everyone needs their beauty sleep
sixty eight hours.
Speaker 3 (38:42):
Hold on, some people can perform well without much sleep. Yeah,
I don't know you guys. No, No, no, a lot.
Speaker 4 (38:49):
I do a lot of research on this oyster energy, eating, right, longevity, sleep.
Speaker 3 (38:57):
It's common sense, common sense. You need six to eight
hours everybody. We'll talk to Show then.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
Well, Swots is also bringing up how like a starting
pitcher of the day before their start isn't really doing
anything right.
Speaker 3 (39:08):
They're getting ready for the day before, but like specifically
that day before, you're really conserving your energy because you
know you got to pitch the next day. And look
at and he was hitting. He was hitting as part
of an Age three last night. Yeah, you go see
he's tired. He's tired. Give him. He's human, he's human.
Speaker 1 (39:25):
I'm really surprised they even pitched him at all. I
thought he was never gonna be wasn't gonna help.
Speaker 3 (39:29):
Well maybe in that case though, knowing that he wasn't,
wasn't his usual self that that yeah, their decision. I
don't know, Man, one bad pitch and you've seen what
that dude can do. Like he struck, only had three strikeouts,
two of them were against Show.
Speaker 1 (39:47):
I give credits to the Jay's management pulling the trigger
on that trade.
Speaker 3 (39:51):
And he's been coming off his surgery. Look at you now,
you've jumped on the back. He's been very good.
Speaker 1 (39:58):
Did you say something nice about the Blue Jay? It's
the best of three. Now, let's all relax to Toronto.
Speaker 3 (40:04):
Yeah, it's going to be interesting for a lot of
sports fans. Is that Okay? So if I got this right,
so Game five is tonight, yeah, break game six if
the Jay's end up winning tonight and Halloween crazy spooky. Yeah,
I'm scary for the Dodgers maybe, but I lost people
(40:26):
going Yeah, kids, just do whatever you want.
Speaker 1 (40:28):
I saw you retweet this because it was going around
a bit last night. It'll be the first season in
MLB history that the season starts and ends outside the
United States because the Dodgers started over in Japan and
now they're going to end over in Canada.
Speaker 3 (40:43):
Yeah, and with the.
Speaker 4 (40:44):
Victory for the Canadian team.
Speaker 3 (40:46):
Betting pretty close attention to my Twitter account.
Speaker 1 (40:50):
You, among others, posted reposted that last night. Retweeted that
last night. I thought it was interesting.
Speaker 3 (40:56):
Okay, you see thirty thousand at Rogers Center to watch
the game. That's right last night. That's right, ye, Canada's team. See.
Speaker 1 (41:04):
You know what the you know what the ideal situation
is now, right because it's the best of three.
Speaker 3 (41:09):
Them to win tonight and lose the next two. There
it is. I love it. Stop there it is, there
it is. Oh, it'll be so good.
Speaker 4 (41:17):
You don't think the Dodgers know they're in a battle
damn rights. And you know what two hundred and forty
million dollars payroll over there, two hundred and forty million
dollars And there's.
Speaker 3 (41:25):
Some teams eighty ninety million just lost the Blue Jays.
They're the fourth or fifth highest, the highest payroll.
Speaker 4 (41:31):
In They're not it. There's only three teams over two
hundred Okay one of them. Hold on, is that factoring
in Blad's contract? Never mind exactly, that's gonna go way up. No,
it's just that's not this year. That's not this year.
Speaker 3 (41:43):
Okay, that's just some business here, right right, right, yeah, yeah.
November fifth, we're talking about Able auctions. Able will sell
the contents of a high end patty of furniture supplier.
November sixth, Able will sell the contents of a Marble
importer over one hundred and fifty full slabs all November sixth,
the contents of an led commercial lighting supplier. November seventh,
(42:05):
Able will sell the contents of a designer clothing store
and adult toy store. It was Kelsey Grammer there. I
don't think he was using toys. And by the way,
at that adult toy store auction. There will also be
one hundred and fifty full slabs to get info in
(42:29):
all the upcoming auctions. Go to able Auctions dot c
A to get your business equipment or inventory or toys
sold at auction. Email sales at able Auctions. What's that
buzzing in the background Able Auctions dot ca A, Sales
at A b l E Auctions dot c A Big
Rye next, Donnie Dalty team I check. We have mentioned
(42:56):
that both the white Caps and BC Lions have important
of course they're important. They have playoff games this weekend
with that big ride the Twitter guy.
Speaker 1 (43:05):
Speaking of those Lions, we had a submission yesterday asking
us about this, and as we got off the show
yesterday it was announced by the Lions that they have
indeed opened the Upper Bowl for this Saturday Western Semifinal
against Calgary.
Speaker 3 (43:18):
So those tickets are on sale now. They have their
Pack the Dome campaign going on right now.
Speaker 1 (43:22):
They're really pumping that up. So that's one bit of
news from the Lions. The other tweet I have from
the Lions is also for our people, folks on the Island,
because they've reintroduced the Island Express there you go bus
so you can catch the eleven am ferry, hop on
a bus to BC place and cheer on the Lions.
Speaker 3 (43:43):
It's for fifty dollars. Now that's not including ticket, your
game ticket, or your ferry, but fifty bucks is that
is the bus service that gets you to and from
the ferry, So all you have to do is get.
Speaker 1 (43:54):
It doesn't include the bus. Okay, it's oh it's the
bus only. But still if you're from the island, you
don't want to drive over. You can't drive over whatever
fifty bucks gets you to and from the ferry terminal
for the game.
Speaker 4 (44:05):
So great job by the owner to think of this well.
Speaker 3 (44:08):
And the owner will be on tomorrow's program.
Speaker 1 (44:09):
Amar Domin and the big thing from yeah, the big
thing about him I remember saying with you guys in
one of our interviews with him that early on when
he took over ownership, he wanted to remove all the excuses, right,
you know wherever you are, Yeah, but transportation, Yeah, but whatever,
you know, I can't.
Speaker 3 (44:30):
Tail game ticket price.
Speaker 10 (44:31):
Right.
Speaker 3 (44:32):
He's taken out every single excuse they're gonna get. You're
gonna be a transportation they have.
Speaker 1 (44:37):
I haven't seen anying announce yet for the interior, but
they've done the same thing with the interior. The weather
might be too dicey for that, but they've done that
within the past with the interior folks getting them down here.
You're right, ticket prices, the whole party on the plaza,
cheaper drinks on the plaza.
Speaker 3 (44:52):
Next year, a couple of games in cloning, right, taking
your brand across the province.
Speaker 1 (44:56):
Like he's done everything he can do, so now it's
it's on the fans to show up. And with them
opening the upper Bowl, I hope a big crowd happens
on Saturday.
Speaker 3 (45:06):
And not only that, but bucking up for Nathan urk Oh.
Speaker 1 (45:09):
Yeah, exactly, well on the kickoff Conc's everything else, right,
I mean, he's he's done so much for the franchise.
Speaker 4 (45:15):
And Donnie's ready he's the highest paid player in the
in the CFL. And when this curtain deals up, you know,
does he get closer to a million?
Speaker 1 (45:22):
Who knows one other thing Lions related And I know
this will bring I know a lot of comments from YouTube,
but the famous Penthouse marquee down here, they've updated for
this Penthouse. It says we put the tush in tush
push go Lions.
Speaker 4 (45:42):
They're prejected. They're very good. Even the Canucks lines white
Caps are very good.
Speaker 1 (45:47):
Pony whoever the sign guy is though, that person him
deserves a race, not.
Speaker 3 (45:54):
A sign guy.
Speaker 1 (45:55):
They sit there, they they come up with a group
of guys, they come up with some ideas.
Speaker 3 (46:00):
They you know, a group of guys is better than
the sign. They probably, I think there's somebody behind this,
Yeah right, maybe it is. Maybe it's a team effort.
It's got to be the owner and his buddy says
maybe or whatever the case may be. Yeah, pretty good. Yeah,
maybe it's one of the other employees there, one of
(46:21):
the dancers. Yes, yeah, that's possibility. So go to the
sign outside the number five. Now what do they got
I don't know, do they have a marquee outside the five?
Of course, Derek's nodding.
Speaker 1 (46:33):
Derek's got his good pal. He's a fan of our
show at the fire. Oh yeah, they watch us at
number five. Yeah, well they don't watch us number I
don't know if they're watching this number five instead of
what else is going on?
Speaker 3 (46:44):
They done it problem They start at noon that that
they're not they're the scripts. It's it's it's closed right
now because they still have like a baron of beef?
Do they back in the eighties? Did they save food there?
Of course they readied their menu. We did the menu,
the very good men.
Speaker 1 (47:02):
I hear we should go on five or the Pentas
number five, Derek m So you didn't know there was
food at number five.
Speaker 3 (47:09):
I've never been to number five.
Speaker 1 (47:10):
The only the only uh exotic joint I've been to
is Brandy's.
Speaker 3 (47:16):
That's it. I haven't been to Pentas number five. I
haven't been anywhere else. The old places are the best
brother owned strip bar. Yeah that's right. He tell us that.
Well you worked there right, yes, yeah, cleaning that and.
Speaker 4 (47:31):
DJ DJ DJ Donnie like hold on for the dancers.
Speaker 3 (47:36):
Yeah, so you know, here's a chandel and.
Speaker 4 (47:39):
You put on some sugar and they would give him
the songs and he'd play them off.
Speaker 1 (47:44):
What are you talking about? Mugs and jugs anyways? Was
mugs and jugs?
Speaker 3 (47:49):
Yes? What are those places? A strip bar? Yeah? Are
you the name of the place? It was just how
old are you? Twelve? The mugs and jugs was all
the jugs is a.
Speaker 1 (48:01):
There's a place in Fleetwood a bar in Fleetwood. I'm
not going to mention the name. You can figure it out.
It's not a strip joining, but they have a lingerie
lunch once a month.
Speaker 3 (48:10):
What.
Speaker 1 (48:10):
Yeah, Derek talked to me about this recently. He was
very excited. Where's this place? But it's in Fleetwood. I'm
not going to name the place. You can figure it
out yourself. But yeah, they've got a lingerie lunch.
Speaker 3 (48:21):
They hired you. Let me tell you, let me tell you.
I can use there own a business. Yeah the hell.
This is not unexpected anyway, not that there's anything wrong
with No, no, no, no, not at all. I don't
know what the segue is.
Speaker 1 (48:35):
But John Shannon's it's Donny.
Speaker 3 (48:38):
And he's interested in that able lunch. Hey everyone, it's
Donnie and Donny and we're looking to partner with your company.
Speaker 4 (48:47):

clear he has never worked in Surrey of the One
Hockey Podcast and the One Canucks Podcast. John, Thanks for
doing this, sir. How are you?
Speaker 11 (49:36):
I'm doing great. I always love the way you guys
talk about things before I get on the shows.
Speaker 3 (49:43):
By the way, bright the way.
Speaker 11 (49:44):
The only thing, the only way I know number five
Orange was that two former Lions used to go there
all the time, Garrett Huntsberger and Ray Needles. Oh yes, yes,
allegedly somebody told me that.
Speaker 3 (49:59):
Both standing members of the Beast Lions defense back in
the day. And I don't raise a leftist down, but
number fifty one, you're lucky. Number program rangers over the
Canucks to nothing as a JT. Miller returns to Vancouver
video tribute. Standing ovation for JT? Is that what you
expected from the Vancouver crowd? John?
Speaker 11 (50:19):
And yeah, I did, And I was thrilled that the
Canucks did it. I mean I think that I also
think that that's the norm now around the National Hockey League,
that when someone of that ilk and that elk, being
a star for so many years, comes back, whether you
have issues or not, you pay tribute to them and
(50:41):
give the fans a chance to say thank you. You know,
let's face it, Jim Rutherend, Patrick Alvin and you know,
and I'm sure Rick talking at the time, had a
conversation when JT left town, but the fans didn't. And
to give the fans that chance is the right thing
to do. And I thought, quite frankly, I thought that
(51:03):
JT was emotionally involved in the in the tribute and
and it couldn't have worked better for him. And you know,
the Canucks really only fell a goal short.
Speaker 3 (51:13):
Yeah, and he was emotional afterwards as well talking to
the media. We're seeing a lot of injuries with the
Kaduk foot, is it? Rick? Eight eight players that are
now injured, including Connor Garland last night. Are we going
to see a lot of this, John With the way
the schedule is this year because of the Olympics.
Speaker 11 (51:30):
I think we're seeing it on every team, I really do.
I think that it's not just the Canucks. It's it's
you know, what's going on in Ottawa, what's going on
in Toronto, what's going on in Pittsburgh. There are injuries everywhere.
This is you know, when you when you get a
schedule as tight as this one because of the Olympic
break and the compacted schedule, everybody's playing three and four nights.
(51:52):
It appears all the time. And then when you involve
east to west travel like the Rangers are on their
trip Montreal was on their trip last year, it's inevitable
coaches will lament that they're not getting any practice time.
The players don't really want to practice. But the amount
of games in a short period of time is what
(52:13):
we're going to face, and I think we have to
be realistic about it, what we're going to face over
the next few years. Every second year. We are going
to see hockey start next September, which is a good thing,
like I think probably the twenty third or twenty fourth
(52:35):
of September, but we're adding two regular season games and
getting rid of two preseason games, so you have to
wonder how that's going to affect it. And camp basically
will only be eleven days, so you do wonder if
this is going to be a regular September October November.
Issue is injuries early in the season.
Speaker 4 (52:56):
John, I'm looking at the overall NHL standings and I'm
seeing the cal Flames dead last, and I'm just wondering
when is the fire sale. Uh Nasim Kadri is going
to be a guy that half the league's probably gonna
go after. Boy, is it going to be fascinating to
see how that one ends up.
Speaker 11 (53:14):
Well, then let's remember nas gets to decide. Yeah, he's
he's He's got a no movement clause of some sort
in his contract which will allow him to pick and
choose where he can go. He also has four years,
including this year, on his contract, so I think there
might be people that shy away from nas in the
(53:37):
in the long term. But if you're one of those teams,
which we will know after the Olympic break, if you're
one of those teams gunning for a Stanley Cup, uh
Nasim Kadri could be a huge asset for you. But
I I don't think anything. I don't think there's gonna
be a wholesale selling off at this point, Rick I
(53:59):
expected to. They're going to try to hold the fort
for a while and then we'll probably see something closer
to the trade deadline as opposed to December or January.
Speaker 4 (54:09):
At the other end of the spectrum, the top Canadian
team Montreal the eight and three. We just saw him
here on Saturday. Good young, skill, fast boy. A pretty
good job that they've done, their drafting and then getting
guys like Suzuki out of Vegas. They've done a lot
of good things and it's paying off.
Speaker 11 (54:28):
And guess what they need?
Speaker 3 (54:29):
What center?
Speaker 11 (54:30):
Mind center? Yep, just like everybody else, they have done
an amazing job there. You know, since Jeff Gordon showed
up as initially the vice president of Hockey Ops now
the president of Hockey Ops and hiring Kent Hughes, I
think a lot of people doubted that Marty san Luis
could be an NHL coach. He's proved everybody wrong. They're scouting,
(54:55):
has been tremendous with their draft picks. Uh Slavkowski's f
paid off, Cole Calfield's paid off. You know, Lane Hudson
is you know, the real deal. I do think that
there are in addition to second line center, which I
think they're shopping right now. You do wonder about their goaltending.
(55:19):
Samuel mount Tambau, who was on the on the four
Nations team, is now has been demoted. He's number two,
Dovershi's number one. You do wonder if their goaltending is
good enough to get them over the hump. You you
look at the elite teams in this league, and goaltending
is just it's the difference maker. It's what Sergey Blebrowski
(55:42):
and Andre Vassilevski, that's why their names are on the
Stanley Cup. You wonder if they have enough in the
goaltending area to sustain a long run in the playoffs there.
And by the way, and you guys saw it Saturday.
They are fun to watch. They are fun to watch,
are fast, you know. And I also think, and I'm
(56:05):
not trying to disparage anybody, you also wonder if they're
better off without Patrick Lyoney, right, you know, Line is
out for three more months, so that gives them a
bit of cap space. But in the end, this gives
them a chance to play some younger guys again. And
you do wonder if if he really has a future
in Montreal. I'm not sure he does. By the way,
Kirby Doc coming back and being healthy is a pretty
(56:27):
good story in Montreal as well.
Speaker 3 (56:28):
Yeah, he just has to stay healthy. Well, there's so
many there's so many positive stories in the National Hockey League.
At the top of the standings regarding teams that he
wouldn't think would be. I know it's early, but teams
that you wouldn't think would be that. There's Pittsburgh, there's Utah.
Detroit beats Saint Louis last night, there's seven and three.
Very quietly, are you a believer in Todd McClellan and
(56:51):
the fable Detroit Red Wings, John.
Speaker 11 (56:54):
Well, the NHL needs Detroit to be good.
Speaker 3 (56:56):
Yes, you know.
Speaker 11 (56:58):
You know if you look, Donnie, if you look at
at the six teams that were the league between what
forty two and sixty seven, you know Chicago is getting
better but not going to make the playoffs. The Rangers
are struggling, Boston is struggling. Toronto Montreal are doing their parts.
(57:18):
Now Detroit needs to be what they were for so
many years, for a quarter of a century when Kenny
Holland and Jimmy Develona were running the team. I'd like
to tell you I am a believer, but I'm not
sure yet. You know, I've seen this team go on
streaks and then fall apart in the last couple of
(57:39):
years and missed the playoffs by a point here or
a couple of games there. Dylan Larkins has seemed to
gone to another level, and Steve Eiserman has I think
finally done a good job of fixing his goaltending. John Gibson,
after a slow start, is playing much better. Cam Talbot's
in the number two hole there, and Cam Talbot's a
better number two guy to thirty to thirty five games
(58:02):
than most are. So they I think that there's there
are some really positive things going on in Detroit at
a time when the NHL really needs the Detroit Red
Wings to be strong.
Speaker 3 (58:14):
Hearkening back to our earlier conversation. As we end this interview, John,
what you're wearing right now is just fine, just so.
Speaker 11 (58:20):
Yeah, Well, listen, I've got my own one hundred percent
hockey dress code. Yeah, the shirt and tie is not
necessary anymore. I can walk into the house with with
blue jeans and a nice sweater and a little button
down shirt and did you just find.
Speaker 3 (58:36):
There you go? Sounds like our dress code.
Speaker 11 (58:37):
And by the way, our payroll is just a little
less than the Dodgers.
Speaker 10 (58:40):
Rick, don't worry.
Speaker 1 (58:41):
Yeah, well, yeah, it's a crazy number with Rick here.
Speaker 3 (58:45):
Ours is just above it.
Speaker 11 (58:47):
It doesn't matter. They're still making money.
Speaker 3 (58:49):
Yeah, yeah, it doesn't matter. Who cares.
Speaker 4 (58:53):
It matters when other teams were at eighty ninety million, John,
and don't have a hope in hell.
Speaker 11 (58:57):
The Dodgers pay for Kansas City, the Dodgers for the
Penguin the Pirates. Revenue sharing in Major League Baseball has
done an amazing job of keeping everybody in goodstead, better
than any other league. The revenue sharing in Major League Baseball.
Speaker 3 (59:13):
They're making so much money they might be paying for
the Penguins. Yeah, John, Yeah, no kidding.
Speaker 11 (59:18):
Well, actually the Red Sox all in the Penguins.
Speaker 3 (59:20):
Oh that's true. I forgot the Fenway at least for today.
We'll see what happens the next few weeks. Thanks for this, John,
cheers Boys, Go Lions. Yes, yes, oh yeah yeah, big
linch ot BC boy pulling for the Lions against Calgary
two thirty at bc pla CFL West Division semi final. Okay,
(59:40):
we mentioned the World Series and the Dodgers and the
Blue Jays. Game five tonight, five o'clock start again in
Los Angeles. Larry Walker from Maple Ridge Baseball Hall of Famer.
He's going to join us next to talk to baseball.

and Games. More in them in a bit meantime, we're
joined out by Baseball Hall of Famer the Pride of
Maple Ridge Larry Walker. In the wake of the Blue
Jays convincing Game four World Series victory last night down
in Los Angeles, six to the final. Lari, thanks for
doing this, Sarah, long time, no talk too. How are you.
Speaker 10 (01:01:14):
Well? All's great?
Speaker 12 (01:01:15):
And yeah, pretty gutsy performance by the Blue Jays last night,
bouncing back after that eighteen inning defeat.
Speaker 3 (01:01:21):
Yeah, and without George s Springer last night facing show,
Hey Otani, what's impressed you the most about the Blue Jays, Larry.
Speaker 10 (01:01:31):
Well, all that you touched on that right there.
Speaker 12 (01:01:33):
You know a lot of teams when they lose one
of their superstars or one of their best players, it
just it's crazy how people can kind of write them
off when usually it's the opposite because the rest of
the team understands what they're losing, and for some reason,
everybody picks up their game a little notch and they
rise to the occasion. And you know, when that game started,
(01:01:54):
you see George is at leading off, but what everybody
else did along the way and some great pitching performances
by the team.
Speaker 10 (01:02:00):
Just that's how teams and that's a you know, that's
a that's a big.
Speaker 12 (01:02:05):
Positive for them, and how how they are in the clubhouse,
and how their egos don't get in their way and
they can play together as that four letter word is
a team.
Speaker 3 (01:02:12):
Do you have any idea, Larry, what John Schneider means
to this team? Of course, he used to manage the
banker for Canadians.
Speaker 12 (01:02:23):
Well, like I say, it seems like he's loved by
everyone and when you got a manager that you can
enjoy being around, and and he pulls everyone together and
there's no dissension in the clubhouse, on the bench or
you know, a lot of teams you see stuff happening
on the bench right for the public guy and the
cameras to see. But the Blue Jays seem to have
it all under control and just riding this high.
Speaker 3 (01:02:44):
Hey, Larry, I know he was probably disappointed in his performance,
but just overall, or are you as impressed with Shoe
o'tawni as everybody else seems to be. I mean, people
are putting him in the bay Ruth category.
Speaker 12 (01:03:01):
Yeah, I'm not sure if there's a category above bab Ruth,
but they could literally put him in that if they
wanted to. It's uh, it is pretty amazing. I did
notice last night, and this is normal, but he seemed
like he was breathing a little harder last night, shooting
you know, nine times on on bait the night before,
and then got to go out there and pitch and
you know, just for him to run off the off
the mound and he doesn't even go on the dugout.
(01:03:24):
He puts all his gear on right there before even
you know, goes the on deck circles.
Speaker 10 (01:03:27):
It's just mind boggling.
Speaker 12 (01:03:29):
There's there's really uh, there's no no rest for the guy,
and he seems endless, full of energy and just keeps
on truck and ahead.
Speaker 10 (01:03:35):
But what he's doing and what he's done is, yeah,
it's pretty crazy. If we'll ever see this.
Speaker 4 (01:03:39):
Again, Larry, you know so many people predicted a sweep
for the Dodgers and the series tied at two to two.
Speaker 3 (01:03:48):
What did you think before this.
Speaker 4 (01:03:50):
Series started, where you like everybody else and thought the
Dodgers might have an easy time.
Speaker 12 (01:03:58):
Well, fortunately this game is not played on paper, so
the Dodgers look like a much more dominant team on paper.
Speaker 10 (01:04:05):
You're damn right they did.
Speaker 12 (01:04:06):
But you know there's a thing called heart and desire,
and you take that out there and that will to win.
You know that that that's an equalizer. So these guys
have all that and they take the field not thinking
anything different. And I tell you a big game tonight,
this is a pivotal one. That three to two lead
going back to Toronto is gonna look a lot a lot
nicer than down three too. So you know that the
(01:04:29):
pomp pumps up tonight for the home country.
Speaker 3 (01:04:31):
Oh big time.
Speaker 4 (01:04:32):
You know, when you see the salaries the Dodgers, I
think they're the cat I think the salary total is
two forty and there's teams at eighty ninety.
Speaker 3 (01:04:43):
Is that good for baseball? Larry?
Speaker 4 (01:04:44):
When these guys spend that much money more than other teams.
Speaker 12 (01:04:50):
Well, you know, I probably get in trouble for saying
certain things, and I usually don't say certain certain things.
Speaker 10 (01:04:55):
I usually just keep my mouth shut. It seems to
be easier.
Speaker 12 (01:04:57):
But yeah, it's I mean, I think any one of
my children can manage that team that.
Speaker 10 (01:05:01):
It's pretty simple. The talent they have. You can just
anybody anywhere and away they go.
Speaker 12 (01:05:09):
You know, not a knock against Dave Roberts, but he's
got a pretty simple job when he makes that lineup out.
Speaker 10 (01:05:14):
And is it good for baseball? Probably not.
Speaker 12 (01:05:17):
You know, it really defeats all these other teams that
are trying to survive, all these small market teams that
just don't have a chance really, you know, and some
of these teams have great fan bases too that want
their team to win.
Speaker 10 (01:05:30):
But when you're going up against powerhouses.
Speaker 12 (01:05:32):
And I don't know, is saying the team that kind
of bought their way to where they at right now.
Is the right thing to say? I don't know, but
it sure looks like that. So it'd be nice if
things can get under control a little bit more and
you have more of an equal playing field.
Speaker 3 (01:05:48):
Game five tonight, let's switch gears, if you don't mind, Larry,
I know it has been out all that long. I
think it started airing this week. But have you watched
the documentary Who Killed Your Old Team? Who Killed the
Montreal Expos?
Speaker 10 (01:06:05):
Yeah?
Speaker 12 (01:06:06):
I did watch it as I'm in a fishing tournament
with some buddies and we sat on his boat. I
watched it when it came out, I think the night
after it came out, and uh yeah, I was asked
quite a bit before it was before it came out,
who do you who do you think is responsible? And
and and I guess I'm I'm not sure if that
(01:06:26):
was answered or not. You know, I think everybody can
have their own assumptions on on on who was responsible.
But but it was nice for to throw it out
there so people could see because more of who maybe
Jeffrey Laurier was and what his team, uh you know,
brought to the table or didn't bring to the table,
and and uh and and who was who was there who?
(01:06:48):
You know, everybody could have their own individual assumption of
what would happened and what went down. But I think
that at least opened that, Like there's so many eyes
were on the club to show that, you know, he
was the victim in everybody's eyes before, but anybody even
knew anything.
Speaker 3 (01:07:00):
Yeah, he was more front and center. Asked if you
watched it, heck you you were in it. Hey, can
you see that? Can you see major League baseball returning
to much for all one day? Larry?
Speaker 12 (01:07:10):
Well, you know what, you sure hope so because when
you see some teams that are in the major leagues
now and you know they're fan based and the ballparks
and everything, I know, Oakland and Tampa have always been
talked about and I'm still not convinced Oakland's actually going
to build a ballpark in Vegas.
Speaker 10 (01:07:27):
And I'm not sure if that's going on or what's
going on.
Speaker 12 (01:07:30):
But you know, obviously Montreal would have to, you know,
have the resources to build a new ballpark downtown that
you can't play out the big O that that's a disaster.
So if they can get something in town and there's
no reason why they couldn't, Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 3 (01:07:44):
Okay for people who don't know other than fishing, what
are you up to these days?
Speaker 12 (01:07:52):
Well, the reason you're not seeing my face live in
action right now on this interview is I've had I've
had three surgeries on my right eye in the last
three months. As I've I've had a detached retina twice
here in the last three weeks. So I've had basically
no eyesight in my right eye since July eleventh, and
right now, I've got about maybe ten to fifteen percent
(01:08:13):
eyesight with it being this way, continue to be this
way for about another six months to possibly two years,
and it's.
Speaker 10 (01:08:19):
A it's a waiting game.
Speaker 3 (01:08:21):
Is that baseball related? Larry No, Just.
Speaker 12 (01:08:25):
You know, as I find out more about detached retinas,
it can be from a head blow of some sort
that's caused it from some people that I've talked to.
Speaker 10 (01:08:34):
But I guess as.
Speaker 12 (01:08:36):
We ate, it's the vistus oil vistorus liquid I think
it's called that's in your eye kind of goes away,
and when that goes away, the retina possibly dries up,
I guess, and loses its size and then detaches from the.
Speaker 10 (01:08:48):
Back of your eye. So I had the surgery to
replace to fix that.
Speaker 12 (01:08:52):
Then I then had to go three months or with
the silicon oil in my eye, and that made the catarapteared,
and so got the oil removed, the cataracts removed, and
I think the doctor screwed up my surgery. I don't
know for sure, but that's my gut feeling. And the
retina is detached again. So I had it done again
by another doctor two weeks ago. So the eye is
(01:09:14):
still not fully open right now, still swollen about halfway.
So I kind of looked kind of creepy, and with
Halloween coming up, I decided not to show my face.
Speaker 3 (01:09:21):
Okay, well we're gonna end this interview now, Larry, but
after this is overable contact you can get the name
of that first doctor and we'll stay away from him.
You don't have to tell us about you don't have
to tell us about aging, and it should trust me.
Best of luck with your health, and thanks so much
for doing this, my friend.
Speaker 10 (01:09:40):
I appreciate it. Thanks for having me on guys.
Speaker 3 (01:09:43):
Larry Walker, Baseball Hall of Famer, and again Game five
World Series tonight again in the Los Angeles Series tied
it too after the JA six to two victory last night.
And so the World Series is going to end up
in Toronto, in Canada. We'll end in Canada. Yeah, there
you go. Do full of marks for the Jays last night. Okay, absolutely,
(01:10:06):
thanks for that analysis. Okay. And and by the way, tonight,
all right, Trey is Savage versus Blake SNeW of course
shelled by the Dog or by the Blue Jays in
game one. You've got some business, all right.
Speaker 4 (01:10:18):

Speaker 1 (01:10:57):
The laptop look this show, Hao tawny pop figuring I
had to put it back up. Of course, he was
a hero the other night. Not so much last night.
Cardo the Day, Connor Bodard Team Canada World Junior card.
Why did I put that up?
Speaker 3 (01:11:12):
Patrick?
Speaker 1 (01:11:13):
Last night he scored a Pattie as the Kid his
first hand trick. Yeah, I'm surprised to see that he's
coming on, Yeah he is. He is the black Howks
currently in a playoff spot? I don't know, man, look
up an UPPERDECT series one cards on the far left.
Speaker 3 (01:11:26):
What playoffs spot? How could that be? They're rebuilding? That
doesn't work, Montreal, it doesn't work.
Speaker 4 (01:11:34):
Okay, the one fly in your rebuilding? Yes, yeah, okay,
No others too. Phoenix took forever, Florida took forever. There's
a million others. The problem you have, and you're not understanding,
is the owner of this hockey club is not gonna, okay, rebuild.
Speaker 3 (01:11:50):
That's your issue. Should watch this show? Okay? Okay? Do
we do pull here? Yeah? Pull question? Dog pole question
has to do with that hockey club experience. One of

main reason.
Speaker 4 (01:12:15):
The Canucks have lost for their past five seventy two
percent say yes, twenty eight percent say no, eight hundred
and fifty four votes.
Speaker 3 (01:12:21):
Already and again. Connor Garland leaving that game early last night,
the two nothing lost to the New York Rangers. He
will not be with the Canucks on the road trip,
at least not at the outset Thursday in Saint Louis.
It starts yeah and down goes Nil's amount. I'm onto Absford,
Mackenzie Mchechrn comes up. He's a winger, so is Garland.
(01:12:43):
It all makes sense. DTMZ is next, Toney telling the team,
aren't you looking for?
Speaker 4 (01:12:50):

Speaker 3 (01:13:47):
Go see Big all up. They're great track, great track.
What's the time for DTMZ DTMC brought to you by
the Arnold Palmer Design was the golf club where their
extensive golf course reno now underway. For weekly up. It's
on their construction progress. Followed them on Instagram at whistle
Golf and yesterday I was mentioning how there's snow up
at Whistler. There's snow at the local mountains too. Yeah. Absolutely,
(01:14:10):
it's like it's late October. Yeah. By the way, Whistler
yesterday posting this video from the Twelfth Green and there
were yesterday. Yeah, they're working on it right now. Snow.
You see the snowflakes coming down. It's a light snow yess.
I was talking about the mountains.
Speaker 1 (01:14:26):
But yeah, yeah, the top of Whistler black howk got Okay,
we know how it works.
Speaker 3 (01:14:29):
Got it dump in the other day?
Speaker 4 (01:14:30):
Yeah, boys, that gonna look nice when it's done.
Speaker 1 (01:14:33):
Yeah, but I agree with Donnie so nice already. How
are you gonna take that to another level?
Speaker 3 (01:14:38):
Well they will, they get just an indication of the
standards they have. Yeah, big al at the whistle Golf Club,
big al Yeah. Rolling Stone Magazine, Oh not the group
that would be Stones. Rolling Stone has released its list
of the twenty first Centuries two hundred and fifty greatest
songs so far and what a strange and interesting century
(01:15:01):
and music it's been. Rick. CDs were still a thing
back in the two thousands. I told you a story
about CDs earlier and my kids. They were followed by
options like Napster, MySpace, the iPod, oh I remember that, Spotify,
the return of vinyl, et cetera, et cetera, and, needless
to say, maybe more than any other time period, the
(01:15:23):
most popular songs came from a variety of areas what
the kids like to call hip hop. Hip hop rock,
soft rock, punk, pop, country, electronic you name It at
the top of the list from two thousand and one,
the song We're hearing right now. This is number one
according to Rolling Stone, Missy Elliott and get your freak on.
(01:15:43):
You're telling me this is the best song of all
time we according to no since two thou first century.
This is horrible. This is a very very big song, horrible,
followed by two thousand and three maps by Yeah, Yeah,
Yes and number three also from three Crazy in Love
Beyonce featuring Jay Z top Canadian Drake at number seventeen.
(01:16:08):
You don't know any of these songs, none of them, zero,
I know very few of them and number seventeen. But
twenty fifteen's Hotline Blame BC's Carly ray Jepson came in
at number forty two with call Me Maybe. Oh I
know that one. I know that one from twenty left
I know that one. Yeah that one. Got excited there, Yeah, yeah,
there you go. But a variety of not a lot
of rock, but some in there.
Speaker 4 (01:16:30):
Just tell me how bad music's been since two thousand
all the good stuffs in the seventies and eighties.
Speaker 3 (01:16:37):
Take it to the bank. You're not getting an argument
from me. There, what is the what is the what's
the criteria?
Speaker 1 (01:16:45):
It's catchy too, popularity extra No, no, because I think
in influence is big too. I just I think the
most popular song since two thousand is seven Nation Army
by the White Tribes.
Speaker 3 (01:16:58):
Well, in terms of sporting of it, it is. But
that's what I mean. The reach is back there, sits
up there by the way. I don't know where it landed,
but it's up there.
Speaker 1 (01:17:05):
The reach of that song, which Crazy in Love, is
very big with Beyonce, that was a very very big song.
Speaker 3 (01:17:11):
But okay, I bet you if you compared, I shouldn't
say the start of the twentieth century, you know, something baroque,
but uh, but it's not that would be a list.
But if you went, say from some nineteen fifty to
two thousand, blow this away, well you'd be able to
talk about all those songs. I would, and I'm proud
of that. I'm fine. Maybe not from the fifties, but
(01:17:32):
certainly from the sixties. Is that like rag time? Still fifties?
You stop it? Yeah, it is right, Yeah, fifties is
like rag time? No, the start of rock and roll, Buddy,
rag Time, Ragtime, what are you talking? Is that like
by the thirties and twenties, twenties and thirties, I think,
believe it or not. I don't know the history of
rag time, but greatest define Elvis Presley, slvi It, Buddy Holly,
(01:17:59):
Buddy Holly, greatest great, greatest decade for rock, seventies, nineties.
What about the eighties? Rick stop? Since the nineties? You
really want to go there? Grinds on rail? I will
give you that eighties, eighties, best decades, seventies. I love
new wave like late eighties, early nineties. I love that era. No,
(01:18:20):
I'm talking pure rock new waves. I'm sure PREMI new
wave is more late seventies early eighties. So I crashed it,
you know, you know I'm wide, I'm open minded. So lighties. Look, look,
look the decade that included the height of the Beatles.
So I gotta go sixties. Yeah, you got birthdays? Absolutely,
(01:18:45):
let's go. Are you ready?
Speaker 4 (01:18:47):

Speaker 3 (01:24:03):
Is it just me? Rick Rock and Roll. A lot of.
Speaker 4 (01:24:06):
Emails this morning in the baside ocean front resort. They
go like this, I'll see it again. These small light
forwards without any snarl is biting the Canucks in any
chance of competing for a playoff spot.
Speaker 3 (01:24:18):
Again.
Speaker 4 (01:24:18):
A ton of these ad from White Rock also this morning.
Canucks are not big enough and condemned schedule and a
lot of their small forwards are getting hurt.
Speaker 3 (01:24:28):
But again we'll say it. Good on Marcus Patterson four
standing up for Conne Garland. Very very nice job by him. Yeah,
and you didn't necessarily expect it from him, although he's
had more fights than you think. Last night, this is
Jeeves from Surrey. Is it just me? But when it
comes to sleep, I'm religious on having a fan on
(01:24:50):
all night, even in the winter. No why I'm the
same way. I have a fan on the whole night.
Just that sound something, there's something relaxed, trying the sound
of a fan to sleep. Yeah, what do you call
white noise? Yeah? I'm also insane the hot sleeper, so
I need well turn the heat off.
Speaker 1 (01:25:13):
The heat's not on. This is a bone of contention
between my wife and I because she's she's she's a
cooler sleeper and I'm super hot.
Speaker 13 (01:25:25):
But I also I also like, I prefer that are
you kidding me? Like you you want the heat cranked
up in this stupid because right now it's minus fifty?
But is the way it should be.
Speaker 4 (01:25:36):
It's freaking cold and I can't feel my hand. I
like a bedroom to be ice cold. Yes, then you're
under blankets. Yeah, well I'm not under a blanket right now.
Maybe you should do the show with a little blankie.
Think about it, Rick, What do you got?
Speaker 3 (01:25:52):
All right? Uh? Players, look at this.
Speaker 4 (01:25:55):
I think a few millionaires can handle a bag skate on.
This isn't the reason why we lost yesterday. Scott from Coquitlam,
but Scott from Coquitlam. A guy shouldn't have to go
to a bag skate after, you know, playing eight games
and thirteen.
Speaker 3 (01:26:11):
It was an interesting choice. I think he was just
trying to wake them up. Yeah, and you could argue
whether or not it worked. They lost last night two
nothing to the Rangers. Oh Pee from Fleetwood. Is it
just me? Or is it time from a fifth consecutive
retool on the fly since the Canucks will never rebuild.
Speaker 4 (01:26:29):
They won't rebuild because the owner won't allow it. Trevor
doesn't make it right. It doesn't make it right. But
Trevor Lindon said rebuild in twenty eighteen, and Jim Benning says,
I'll fix it in two years. Who do you think
he took? He took Benning in two years. They've been
trying to fix it for two years. For the last
eight years. He doesn't want to rebuild, and if someday
he does, it'll because somebody sits him down and tells him, hey,
(01:26:50):
you have no other choice.
Speaker 3 (01:26:51):
The Kman and North fan. Is it just me? Or
did the NHL blow it? Regarding the schedule not starting
the season Ryan two to three weeks sooner in September,
thus spacing out the games to a more manageable level.
You've got off the air, You've gone on about this
a lot. I think most people agree with you. The
regular season is going to start earlier next year, next year,
(01:27:15):
shorter preseason. Keep in mind though, two more regular season
games eighty four games each. I don't think anybody's gonna
argue with you or the Kman. Yeah, I just don't.
I don't understand.
Speaker 1 (01:27:25):
There was so much dead space before this thing got
going for the Canucks, and I'm not looking around the league,
but I'm sure it's the same for everyone else.
Speaker 3 (01:27:32):
Like, I just don't get it.
Speaker 1 (01:27:34):
It's also crammed at the other end, right, and I
brought this up before a ton as well. The other end,
it's like Stanley Cup, draft, free agency, and it's all
bang bang bank ban bank. Why not let that.
Speaker 3 (01:27:47):
That's gonna change because of the World Cup and the Olympics. Yeah,
I understand that, but that it should have happened before that. Yeah,
one hundred days. I don't like. I mean, as much
as you're into it, I would prefer to watch this
Stanwlen Cup final late May, maybe in early June, versus
pushing to July.
Speaker 1 (01:28:04):
Right, and then let that other stuff have its time,
the draft and free agency, they'll figure it out.
Speaker 3 (01:28:10):
We gotta break Okay, break, we'll wrap up the show.
The pull question next, Tony Dolly, the team wonn't you?
Doug Paul rick Ran, get her up? The waddling dog
pull question.
Speaker 4 (01:28:26):
Our injuries the main reason the Canucks have lost for
their past five to seventy two percent say yes, twenty
eight percent say no. Over nine hundred votes already, it's
starting to hop and pop. Canucks losing Connor Garland last night.
Speaker 3 (01:28:40):
At least for one game. They're on the road Thursday
in Saint Louis, start of a three game road trip.
You got some pictures and photos? Yeah, right where we're
going here? Overseas Pakistan?
Speaker 4 (01:28:50):
Yeah, that's right. This is Uncle Boo. This is Uncle
Boo at a shrine in Maltan, Pakistan.
Speaker 3 (01:28:57):
Beautiful.
Speaker 4 (01:28:57):
Big fan of the show is Uncle Boo. He's been
all over there. Where was he last time? Saudry Arabia?
Speaker 3 (01:29:04):

Speaker 4 (01:29:06):
It's always he's always over there and sending his pictures,
Uncle booth, thank you very much.
Speaker 3 (01:29:11):
Overwhere that area?
Speaker 11 (01:29:13):

Speaker 3 (01:29:14):
That whatever? That that area?
Speaker 1 (01:29:15):

Speaker 3 (01:29:20):
When I think what a beautiful structure. Oh yeah, come

Speaker 4 (01:29:25):
The subjects I did good in was social study. Was
that mister k no with mister swaw Kerr. Kerr was
the medical teacher. No, not medical, uh mississm mechanics. Mister Swawell.
Our social studies teacher was a former VC Lions offensive
lineman NWSS nineteen eighty six. I remember all my teachers.
Speaker 3 (01:29:44):
We were talking about the number five Orange.
Speaker 4 (01:29:46):

were good people.
Speaker 1 (01:29:50):

Nova Scotia cheering the mune.
Speaker 3 (01:30:14):
In Lyle, novas Lyle in Centerville.
Speaker 4 (01:30:17):
It's Lyle in Centralville, not Lyle and Lyleville, NHLA from there. Yeah,
I don't know, Okay, we'll try to figure it out.
Speaker 3 (01:30:26):
What else?
Speaker 1 (01:30:27):
Last one, quickly, this is a good one. This is
from Mike and Nanaimo. He said this this during look
at the Larry Walker interview. Look at that Lad Guerrero Jr.
Vlad Junior watching Larry Walker the former Expo on Donnie
and Dolly today And what a pleasure it was to that.
That's senior, that senior, Ryan, What are you talking about?
How could it be junior senior?
Speaker 3 (01:30:48):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:30:48):
Yeah, playing for the Expos. Junior is playing for the
Blue Jays.
Speaker 3 (01:30:51):
See. You know what's sad?
Speaker 1 (01:30:52):
Is I remember Lad Senior as an Anaheim angel more
than anything else. Wow, I know it's sad, I know,
I know, but that's what I remember him. And I
also remember no batting gloves.
Speaker 3 (01:31:02):
Yeah, the betting gloves. Yeah, yeah, which is wild. It
is because if you've ever played baseball, it hurts. Yeah.
Well I can't imagine. Yeah, who's who is in so
many of the Mariners has no gloves? Anyway, one of
our listeners of yours can help me. According to this,
there isn't an NHL player from Centerville, Nova Scotia. Little
