Speaker 5 (01:08):
Yes, she love Wakiki Beach. But so before the show though,
other Derek was in here. We got like six Derek's
on the payroll in this building.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
Derek. Yeah. The other guy in the other yeah, yeah,
Derek Hater.

Speaker 5 (01:19):
He was in here and I think he asked you,
or Nina asked you. One of them asked you about
trick or treating. You said, you're turning off all the lights.
I say, you're gonna be one of those guys. You
got to turn off all the lights stop shut out.
The World Blue Jays are playing a five. Yes, I'm
not getting up from the couch to go hand out
candy every ten minutes the World Series.

Speaker 6 (01:41):
What about a ball outside?

Speaker 1 (01:43):
I see we brought this up yesterday.

Speaker 4 (01:45):
Somebody tweeted that if you put the bull out, they
steal the ball.

Speaker 1 (01:48):
Yes, something. Don't put out a nice bowl the bowl stop.

Speaker 4 (01:54):
Somebody tweeted us I know, and they said they put
the bull out and they.

Speaker 1 (01:58):
Stole someone strole the ball.

Speaker 6 (02:00):
Well, you could do like a trap.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
Listen.

Speaker 4 (02:01):
Yeah, I am all zoned in on the Blue Jays
tonight five o'clock.

Speaker 1 (02:05):
I will not be getting up from the couch. Listen.

Speaker 5 (02:07):
It's gonna pour rain. They've got an atmospheric river coming in.
If kids come to your door and ring that doorbell.
You better have candy for them.

Speaker 1 (02:15):
I'm on the car. You're gonna be battling on the couch.
I miss the Jay's game for like five seconds, not
moving from the couch. How exactly the Blue Jays can
win the World Series tonight.

Speaker 4 (02:26):
I'm not getting off the couch for candy. I'll get
somebody else to answer the door, not myself.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
Do you have a favorite chocolate bar?

Speaker 4 (02:33):
KitKat, coffee, crisfe coffee Chris was good because it gave
you like a coffee you feel Chris.

Speaker 5 (02:42):
Yeah, yeah, I know, Derek would be anything in the
peanut buttercup is the all time.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
Yes, it's it's not Peanut buttercups are really good as well.

Speaker 6 (02:52):
Yes, what's your least favorite?

Speaker 1 (02:53):
Rick, I don't have a least favorite. Look, I can't
eat candy anymore. Okay, the bits.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
Wayne to wait until you get over fifty and the
doctor gets a hold of you.

Speaker 1 (03:09):
Bite size chocolate bars.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
No sugar, no candy, no coke, no nothing. Wait until
you guys get over fifty. The worst easily. And I
don't know if this is still a thing.

Speaker 1 (03:19):
Wait till you get over fifty. You'll know where I'm coming.
From when you trick or treat and you get like
the glosshets Yeah, Raisin, Raisin.

Speaker 6 (03:26):
Rick gives out Raisin.

Speaker 1 (03:27):
Probably no fund zone over here.

Speaker 6 (03:29):
Probably he gives up bananas.

Speaker 5 (03:30):
Yeah maybe actually, yeah, you're an help guy. You should
be handing out bananas, apples.

Speaker 4 (03:35):
No, no fig nuts, yeah, no candy. And I'm not
getting up from the couch once that Blue Jay's game starts.

Speaker 1 (03:42):
I'm on it all right.

Speaker 5 (03:43):
Well you just touched on that. That's tonight game number
six World Series. There's nothing else tonight. Tonight the Jays
have the stage on TV at least, so you can
sit down focus on the Jays. Around eleven o'clock, we're
going to talk with Josh Goldberg of Blue Jay's Nation
to get the feel in Toronto, talk about that game.
Heading into that game number six for the J's, will

(04:06):
they pull it out? I'm not so sure tonight they're
gonna get it done. I think I think it's seventh.
I'll be surprised. Put it this way. As much as
I like to poo poo on the Jays, and oh
I love to do that, if the J's can close
it out tonight, that's mighty impressive. That you can shut
down that firepower of the Dodgers, and the Dodgers are

(04:26):
not going to force a seventh game. That would be
quite impressive.

Speaker 4 (04:29):
Hey, I'll tell you something right now, the way they're
hitting the Blue Jays, it ends to no I mean offensively,
they've been right off the ball. I mean ye, back
to back homers to start last game. Thirty five hits
and seventeen runs in LA and three games.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Are you kidding me? Yeah?

Speaker 5 (04:45):
And again, what lad's gonna be the MVP if they
win it tonight. Le's obviously happens, but it's the other
it's the rest of the lineup that's been impressive for
it and not the top of the lineup.

Speaker 4 (04:54):
The guys in the middle of right, the end of
the back order are just as important, right making big
hits as well.

Speaker 5 (04:59):
So that's game number six. If it gets forced to
a game number seven, that would be happening tomorrow. And
if Donnie was here today, I think he would declare
tomorrow is a super Sports Saturday. He loves to throw
that around, but tomorrow is indeed that. How about the slate?
It starts at two thirty BC Lions Calgary Stampeders, West

(05:19):
semifinal at BC Place. They're hoping to pack the dome.
You heard Amar Doman with us yesterday. There's only a
few left in the lower bowl. They're gonna open up
the majority of the upper bowl at least to what
they can because there are renovations going on right now
inside BC Place with FIFA. So you know, can they
push thirty five thousand people?

Speaker 1 (05:38):
No, I think it's going to be a little bit
over thirty.

Speaker 5 (05:41):
Yeah, like the white Caps. I mean, look at the
white Caps last weekend. Would they have thirty two thousand
something like that.

Speaker 4 (05:45):
Somewhere that I think them? And then the white Caps
are in Dallas six thirty. They can sweep that.

Speaker 1 (05:51):
Series, right yep, to best of three.

Speaker 4 (05:53):
Three Abby Canucks at home to Henderson tomorrow at seventh
Sunday at four to Henderson, Vancouver Giant's home town tomorrow.
Good watch those kids, good kids, and then home to
Prince George Sunday at four.

Speaker 1 (06:04):
We should mention Victoria as well. The Royals.

Speaker 5 (06:07):
They're at home for a back to back against Penticton
tomorrow six o'clock Sunday two o'clock, So there you go.
And the Canucks tomorrow in Minnesota four o'clock. How you
only have one TV for tomorrow is TV and then
look at that.

Speaker 1 (06:22):
Listen, old fashioned guy. I'm not like you. I'm not
gonna sit in a room of five TVs.

Speaker 5 (06:27):
We should also mention Sunday Seahawks Sunday Night football. They're
gonna they're in Washington to take on the Commanders, and
Jaded Daniels back in the lineup for the Commanders.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
So that's gonna be a big game. But last night,
Oh Vancouver Canucks, that is a hell of a victory
four to three in a shootout over the Saint Louis Blues.
I mean, you can use all the cliched words gritty,
gut check all those things. Character.

Speaker 5 (06:50):
It started thirteen seconds into the game Brock Besser. The
injury for Besser last night. Here's the play. He takes
a shot in the not fun area.

Speaker 1 (07:00):
Sallow he got the Sammy so by.

Speaker 5 (07:02):
DPD he just I mean he barely turned and was
hit by the puck. Like there he is there, he
doesn't even really know where the puck is and he
gets hit.

Speaker 1 (07:11):
He very very very gingerly went off the ice and
was ruled out of the game. Adam Foot said last
night with a chuckle, Yeah, I expect him to play
in Minnesota, and he said, you know, it's kind of
hinting at the fact that, well, you can see on
the replay where he got hit. That's not nice. So
but you have an update this morning, Rick on Besser.

Speaker 4 (07:30):
Well, update this morning is I'm not hearing anything negative
with Besser this morning. The expectation is he will play
against Minnesota. Eight injuries, Besser was nine. This team can't
afford to play without Besser. So the update is that
nothing negative this morning. I think he's up and about
and the expectation he placed early word his expectation he

(07:50):
plays against Minnesota. He got Sammy shallowed number sallow.

Speaker 5 (07:54):
Yeah, but Salo had a ruptured testicle. He had a
rupture test I don't think he came back. Remember the
fans were cheering balls of steel and they remember that,
were they?

Speaker 1 (08:04):
How do you not know this? I don't. I just
don't remember that. I remember the injury, but I don't
remember the chanting Chad half.

Speaker 4 (08:09):
Balls of steel and he talked about it. Uh, but
we all been there in ball hockey. We all took
uh the orange ball.

Speaker 1 (08:16):
We haven't all been there. That's a slop shot HL defenceman.

Speaker 4 (08:20):
You think the orange ball in ball hockey is not
to the same velocity? Is that that happened to me
with the orange ball. I was on the ground for
thirty minutes. I'm serious. We've all been there. Yeah, whether
it's ball hockey or ice hockey or road hockey, we've
all been there. Either the tennis ball or the orange ball.
We all got it.

Speaker 1 (08:38):
The orange ball way worse. Oh, especially a cold day.

Speaker 4 (08:41):
The ball would really hurt. Yeah, you got hit in
the in the shins, in the thighs too.

Speaker 1 (08:48):
Yeah. Cool on a really cool day like that. Even
the tennis ball, you know when you would get hit
like on on your arm even or and it felt
like the heart beat was there. Been there, you know,
I know where Brock's been. We've all been there. Okay,
so we stand with everybody's playing hockey. No, I know, Well,
it's sports in general. You can get a soccer ball

(09:10):
there even or whatever anything football. Yeah, well he's got
a cup. We didn't have a couple we played.

Speaker 5 (09:16):
I wonder if I'm not gonna go there anyway. So
thankfully it looks like brock Best will be in the
line of tomorrow. The story of the game, though, outside
of bets or injury, the story of the game, without
out a doubt, is yet again, this guy, Keith for
Surewood stepping up a hat trick. Three goals and this
was legit. There wasn't one called back. And then you

(09:36):
know that this was three goals by Keith for Sherwood.
Last night it was the Keith for Sherwood Show. And
he hit the goal post in the shoot He hit
the goal post in the shootout as well.

Speaker 1 (09:48):
I mean the hands on this guy, the speed on
this guy.

Speaker 5 (09:51):
He has all the tools, like he's got the toolbox
and all the tools he's he hits like a freight train.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
You never worry about his energy. All those things that
you to check off, this guy's got them all.

Speaker 4 (10:02):
Look at the goals, one in front of the net
right exactly, second breakaway skill with the hands. Third one
shot like just.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
Quickly here, Rick.

Speaker 5 (10:11):
Look at the reaction by the teammates when he gets
his hat.

Speaker 1 (10:16):
I know, I know, but you don't see that reaction
all the time. I know it's a hat trick.

Speaker 5 (10:21):
The team's happy, but this guy and he's appending UFA
and we'll get to our poll question in a bit.

Speaker 1 (10:29):
But that stuff there matters to me how popular he is.
Remember when we had Braden koots On who is the
player he named checked Sherwood. There you go and there, and.

Speaker 5 (10:40):
There's a lot of talk Rick about this organization and
the leadership group and how bad it was last year
and all those sorts of things and wanting to get
back to that Saedine era of a leadership corps that
you could really count on the base being here.

Speaker 1 (10:56):
And I think that's he's one of those guys.

Speaker 5 (10:58):
He's not gonna put up one hundred points, eighty points, whatever,
but he's a hard and soul player that clearly has.

Speaker 1 (11:04):
A ton of skill. Nine goals on the year.

Speaker 5 (11:06):
Now, if you wake up this morning, you look at
NHL dot com, he's tied for the league lead. If
there's a bunch of guys at the top of the
night goal the goals are but it's incredible.

Speaker 4 (11:13):
But it's the hits. He leads the team in hits.
If you look last night, he had a team leading
four hits. And then it's the hands, the speed, he
plays with passion, he cares. Now, Okay, so he had
a great week. Six goals in three games. Yep, minus one.
I have to because he had a goal call back
Myers was offside.

Speaker 1 (11:29):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (11:30):
So he's in a contract year. His contract's up after
this year. When I checked in last night, the flurry
of goals this week, Ryan did not spark contract talks
with the Vancouver Canucks. The Canucks continue to take a
weight and see approach. If Sherwood continues this goal scoring pace,
he's going to outprice himself in Vancouver. That's the bottom line.

(11:51):
The rady's going. If he keeps us up capitol letters,
he might go in a dry spell.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (11:56):
If he keeps us up, the number is going to
start with a five. I don't care whether you like
that or whether you don't. But all he has to
do is get to twenty five to thirty goals. For me,
he's gonna get a big fat contract.

Speaker 5 (12:07):
But I don't like you say Ricky could go on
a dry spell. Even if he goes on a dry spell, Like,
even if he doesn't get points, everything else he provides
for your team, Like, that's enough to me to pay
this guy. Career high goals last year with the Canucks
in his first season at nineteen, He's already got nine
this year. I heard you on Bruff and Rough this
morning about maybe some of the hesitations with Sherwood are

(12:30):
what happened with Dakota Joshua. Yeah, that was not a
good negotiation, right the Canucks, right right. I understand that.
But I'll be honest, and this is no disrespect to
Dakota Joshua. He was a good Canuck here. Yeah, you
notice Kei for Sherwood more game in game out.

Speaker 1 (12:46):
Yeah, Like how many times Rick, dating back to since
Sherwood signed, have you guys done a show or we've
done a show in here where we've coming the next
day and gone. We haven't.

Speaker 5 (12:55):
We didn't notice Keith for Shula last night. You notice
him in every single game. He pulls the team in
the fight. And right now, with this team so hammered
by injuries, and we'll talk about that more as the
show goes on, so hammered by injuries, he's the guy
stepping up.

Speaker 1 (13:09):
It's incredible.

Speaker 4 (13:10):
Here's what I like, Ryan, and I have a soft
spot for guys that weren't drafted. He wasn't drafted. He
scored thirty six goals one year in the American League.
He's always had the talent. Now he's putting it together
in the last two years. The Vancouver Canucks have a
decision to make. They're gonna have to go to an
uncomfortable number for sure. What they know that and same
as same as Joshua they did. The Canucks first offered

(13:34):
Joshua was two point five million. They ended up at
three to two, and the Canucks grudgingly went there. They
didn't want to go there. Yeah, and so they're gonna
have to do the same thing here. This is going
to be an uncomfortable number for the Canucks. They got
to make a decision because if they if it gets
too uncomfortable for them, they can't do with what they
did with Dakota then they kept him past the trade deadline.

Speaker 1 (13:53):
They got to move this guy. They got to move
this Sky one percent, move this guy Moah. I mean
every team wants Key for sure. What on his roster, Nina,
do you have that? Jeff Patterson tweet.

Speaker 5 (14:02):
I just want to show this quickly because Jeff had
this last night, as he always does.

Speaker 1 (14:06):
Fantastic statistics going back to last season, the start of last.

Speaker 5 (14:10):
Year, these are the Canucks goal leaders. Nebrask with thirty
goals Wow, best of with twenty eight goals. Keith for
Surewood with twenty eight goals.

Speaker 1 (14:19):
Don't send this to sure what's agent?

Speaker 7 (14:22):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (14:23):
I'm sure he knows. I'm sure why I was texting
with his agent last week.

Speaker 5 (14:27):
I mean, look and look at remember last year, remember
last year talking shooter ching goals?

Speaker 4 (14:32):
And this is what is Keith for Surewood his Asian
jud mul Daber. You don't think he's doing cartwell, I
bet it is. I mean, and look.

Speaker 1 (14:39):
Good is doing cartwheels right now.

Speaker 5 (14:41):
With the way the cap is going to rise, if
you want to go to four and a half million
dollars with this guy, I would I would offer that
to him this morning. If I was the Vancouver Canucks,
I'd be offering him four and a half million dollars.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
It looks like the Canucks are saying wait and see,
wait for what though? Why they got all year to
sign him?

Speaker 4 (14:58):
You got his dead right, Okay, what if you act
like the deadline to sign this guys tomorrow because of
what you brought up?

Speaker 1 (15:04):
You brought this up.

Speaker 4 (15:05):
Every goal he adds on, it gets more expensive, right,
it gets more But but they're taking a wait and
see approach and maybe in a week.

Speaker 5 (15:14):
It's not gonna pay off. It's gonna burn you. I'm sorry,
you can see it. Like, even if even if he
slows down, what did you say, had six goals this week?
Six goals?

Speaker 1 (15:21):
No, no, no five? But he had six games.

Speaker 5 (15:25):
Five goals this week, right, So he's he's on a heater,
and I know he's shooting percentages out of this world
and all of those things.

Speaker 1 (15:30):
I understand that.

Speaker 5 (15:31):
But even if he slows down again, like last year
he had nineteen goals, people were raving about him, the
hit record, all those sorts of things. So even if
he really dials back the gold production again, I bring
up those heart and soul.

Speaker 1 (15:42):
Elements, those intangibles. I'm fine paying for that, even if
the goals the point production, the gold production dials down.

Speaker 5 (15:52):
This is a guy you want to keep in the fold.
You bring up all the time. Rick, Remember when the
Canucks lost all those cultures. He's a culture guy.

Speaker 1 (15:59):
Bingo, they lost all that that. This is what this
dude is. He's a culture guy.

Speaker 4 (16:04):
And as Braiden Coots told you, he took him aside
in camp and and made Braiden Coots feel really good.
Surewood did culture guys. Dave King, the great Canadian coach,
used to say, you can't have enough culture carriers in
the dressing room.

Speaker 1 (16:17):
He's one of them. Yeah, and he cares. He hates
to lose.

Speaker 4 (16:19):
You need guys in your dressing room that hate to lose,
and guys in your dressing room that donate to lose.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Get rid of them exactly, Early, Is it just me
from Jamie A beautiful spot Lake? Is it just me?
Or should the Canucks off forward Keith? For sure? A
five by four million dollar contract? Four ain't gonna cut it.
I'm sorry. Five years though, that's a lot, that's a
lot of he's gonna get termed. I know you're right,
You're right, but no, but I you're gonna get five
or six years.

Speaker 5 (16:44):
This is what I'm talking about, and this is what's
out there. And by the way, that four ain't gonna
cut it. I'll just I'll give you a little bit
of a heads up for it. No, I understand that,
I understand that not even close, not even close. I
read this is just me Early, because I wanted to

down sixty percent from I've read that from the eighties nineties.
The kids don't go out anymore. Sure, they don't go
out anymore, Very few go out.

Found. Yeah, stop it, Thomas soways, So.

Speaker 10 (19:55):
That's what he hands out.

Speaker 1 (19:56):
Are you? Are you on the wait and see? You're
on the wait and see movement that Thomas with it
when it comes to keep for.

Speaker 10 (20:01):
Sure, what's the logic of paying him now that he
is the leading NHL goalscorer. I mean, you know, you know,
it would be one thing to have done it or
tried to do it before the season, before this unholy
heater that this guy is on, because you know, then
maybe it would have been closer to his market value.
I mean, he's reset his market as an.

Speaker 4 (20:21):
You Rick, Yeah, okay, but they're kind of stuck. Do
you want the NHL's leading goalscorer to walk or do
you want to keep them?

Speaker 1 (20:28):
Don't you want to keep him?

Speaker 10 (20:30):
I would love to keep him. Keep for sure What
absolutely rocks, But he's also thirty. This team has to
be mindful of sort of where they're going and where
they're trending, right. I mean, you know the benefit of
wait and see is in two three months you have
a better sense of, Hey, what's our team. I mean,

(20:51):
we don't know what this team is right now. We've
only seen them play what four or five games with
anything even approximating a relatively stuck full NHL lineup. You know,
if you're way out of the of the mix come January,
right and you're looking at sort of different priorities in
terms of the long term direction of this team, you know,

(21:13):
then that's going to necessitate one thing. If you're you know,
you get healthy and you're competing and you're close and
keeper sure what has fifteen goals and and has maybe
added in a sister too, and it is still throwing
four hits a game, you know that might necessitate something different.
So you know, for me, anyway, wait and sees the
only wise course of action here. And that's not to

(21:36):
say that they shouldn't extend him or that they should
trade him. I don't think we need to have that
conversation yet. You've got time, use it the time to
sign him. In my view, anyway, if you were going to,
like if you were intent on getting him done, you
know that the time to get it done was before
the season. Now that he's on this unholy heater, you
know you're paying for a guy who shot thirty seven
percent through the first eleven games of the year. I

(21:57):
mean that's something that I'd be reluctant to do if
I were then too. So for me anyway, wait and
see is just prudent. And that's not to sort of
put my finger on the scale either way. That's just
how you sort of have to time it out given
where you find yourself.

Speaker 1 (22:09):
Is it fair to say, though, Thomas, with how valuably
seemingly is with the full package of the hitting and
the point production is so far, the deadline is the tradedness. Yeah?

Speaker 5 (22:20):
Well yeah, but the deadline is the trade deadline, Like
either he's got a sign or he's got to go
because of the value in that player. Like they can't
go past the trade deadline without an extension, right.

Speaker 10 (22:33):
I mean, I think you can go past the trade
deadline without an extension if you're clearly in a playoff
spot and not just like last year where it was like, yeah,
we're hanging on, We're hanging on like with Pugh Souter
or what have you. I mean, I think if you're
clearly a playoff team, and you're trending to be a
playoff team and you're playing good hockey, then that, you know,
is fine to hang on beyond the deadline for me anyway.

(22:56):
But yeah, I mean if you're well out of the
playoff pitch, I think that necessitates a different course of action.
I mean, you know it was it was a big
win yesterday. We don't have to do the big get.
The Canucks have held the fort and hung on. So
I mean, let's sort of see where the season goes
and see where we land before we get into like
making a determination. Does you know four years from now,

(23:19):
a thirty four year old key for sure would help
you more than the second round draft pick or what
have you that you could get back fro him. You know,
that's all. That's a January conversation, gentlemen.

Speaker 4 (23:28):
For me anyway, all right, what about that character win
last night? Thomas eight players hurt and then Besser gets
hurt thirty three seconds in, and you.

Speaker 1 (23:37):
Know, they had believable, unbelievable.

Speaker 4 (23:39):
They had a million excuses to fold their tent and
say no. But in adversity is when you find character.
And these guys, you know, for the rest of the
way found a way to win last night.

Speaker 10 (23:50):
Yeah, And and I mean Lankanin was huge, right he
lets in that sort of first goal which had a
bit of an odor on it, which you know, I
think for a lot of Canucks fans, given the fact
I don't think lancanan has been as bad as his numbers,
by the way, gentlemen, I just don't think he'd made
those incredible saves in his first four starts leading into
last night. Then he allows that sort of one that
he'd probably want back in the first period to open

(24:12):
the scoring for Saint Louis. And from that point on,
I mean, he was phenomenal, you know, sure, character wining.
I mean, they didn't pull the tent. They worked hard.
Credit to them. The truth is is you could play
that game ten times over and the Canucks lose at
nine times, right. I mean, the Blues were wildly dominant
throughout that game. I mean probably a chance from four
to one in terms of the really high quality chances

(24:33):
outshot them better than two to one, and really seemed
to be on the verge of absolutely taking over in
that third period. You know, Canucks get a bounce on
that first Sherwood goal, they get a bounce on the
third Shure, then they get unlucky to not win it
in regulation on that very iffy goaltender interference call on
the goaltender and inference called gentlemen. By the way, can
we just talk about this. Look at Bennington? Yeah, does

(24:56):
that look like a goalie who was interfered with?

Speaker 1 (24:58):
Yeah?

Speaker 10 (24:58):
Does that look like a goalieho thinks he was interfered with?
It does not? It does not, Bennington, Bennington, We know
how demonstrative this guy is. If the goalie doesn't react,
you know, that's how you know, That's how you know
that goal should have stood. When the goalie himself is like, yeah,
that was an unfortunate goal that I allowed. That's completely

(25:20):
fair anyway, So they end up getting unlucky to not
win it in regulation. But they had some bounces along
the way, and they had a sterling goaltending performance, and
certainly you give credit to them for just sort of
digging deep and sticking with it. You're right, they had
a million excuses to lose on form. They played a
game they probably didn't deserve to win. But you know what,

(25:40):
there are no style points awarded. When you're missing eight
guys from your lineup and then lose another guy because
he gets hitting with family jewels on the first shift
of the game. That's just to tip your cap. Those
are the sorts of wins that you kind of need
when your back is up against the wall over the
course of a long NHL season, you know, just to
just to hold the fort, just to give yourself a

(26:01):
chance when you get healthier, to determine your own fate
as opposed to having it determined for you by bad injury.

Speaker 1 (26:08):
Lave how long can they hold the fort?

Speaker 4 (26:13):
In terms of no second line center, the trade market
is telling us there's a ton of teams looking for
the exact same thing that the Vancouver Canucks are or
second line center Carolina, Montreal, Toronto, keep going down the list.
There's a ton of teams looking for the same thing.
It's gonna be tough. If they get a second line
center today, they're gonna massively overpay, Like, I mean, what

(26:34):
are you hearing on the market, what's going on with
these guys?

Speaker 10 (26:38):
Well, it's gonna be tough. And let's be real gentlemen, right,
I mean Montreal, you know they might look at themselves
if a second line center. Let's just take a name
that's been rumored across the last week, although with the
Elias lind Home update, perhaps we should pour cold water
on it now. But like Pavel Zaka's name, right, if
you're Montreal, and granted, it's probably harder for them to

(26:58):
make a trade with an ancient rival with in their division,
but you know, if you're in Montreal, what's the marginal
benefit that Zacha can bring to your lineup? Right? It
might be the difference between being a solid playoff team
and like a legit contender.

Speaker 11 (27:10):
Right.

Speaker 10 (27:11):
I don't think the Canucks are pabble Zacho away from
being an elite contender, do you, right? Like they're not.
They need a guy like Pavel Zaka to be the
playoff team that they want to be well, the gap there, Right,
the marginal value of going from being a solid playoff
team to being potentially a contender is worth paying through
the nose for, right, The marginal value of being maybe

(27:33):
not a playoff team to oh yeah, I'm more confident
in that team being a playoff team, Like that's relatively
small and that justifies a smaller expense too, even with
the Hughes factor looming, Like you mentioned, a lot of
teams in there that have realistic Stanley Cup aspirations and
are looking for the same thing that the Canucks are.
And the truth is is that they're going to be
motivated by the simple, you know, laws of economics to

(27:57):
pay at a level that you know it's hard to
the Canucks matching. And that's part of the issue here too.
As high leverage as this season is for the Canucks,
the leverage of making that addition isn't going to be
as high as it is for Carolina as it is
for a Montreal and that's going to make it difficult
to win the bidding as well. We'll see what the
Canucks can sort of pull out of a hat in

(28:19):
terms of trying to find a rabbit. A rabbit who
happens to be a middle sixth center in this case.
But it's definitely going to be gruesome, and sort of
the logic of this, just the economic behavioral logic of
which teams are going to be most willing to overpay,
you know, complicates this further.

Speaker 1 (28:38):
Thomas.

Speaker 5 (28:38):
Last night, Tom Vilander's second NHL game for him nineteen
minutes of ice time.

Speaker 1 (28:44):
What have you seen from.

Speaker 5 (28:45):
A guy that some people think might be part of
a Canucks trade package.

Speaker 10 (28:50):
Yeah, I mean I thought it was a much better
performance than his debut. You know that the Canucks were
in zone a lot last night, right, I mean, they
spent a lot of time in zone. That's a tough
spot for a young player playing his second NHL game
to be put in. And I thought he held up
pretty well.

Speaker 7 (29:06):
You know.

Speaker 10 (29:06):
I think that's the part of the game where he's
at his best. To be totally honest with you, He's
got a really high work rate, is really fast, He's
really conscientious in terms of the defensive side of the
puck or the defensive side of the game. And I
thought that all showed in the game last night. You know,
I almost think that game script lends itself better to
his skills than one in which the Canucks are, for example,

(29:26):
chasing a lead the way they were against the New
York Rangers like a narrow you know, down by one.
Every mistake matters. That's where some of his offensive decision making,
like some of the pinches that we saw in that
New York Rangers game, becomes something that like, I'm a
little less confident in terms of his processing at this
point early in his NHL career, But the defensive side

(29:48):
of the game, he's already really polished at, really conscientious at,
really mature at and I thought that showed through in
that game last night.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
Do you have a favorite Halloween candy?

Speaker 10 (29:58):
Oh? Man, I love all Halloween candy. I think at
the end of the day, you know those little tinfoil wrapped.

Speaker 1 (30:05):
Reese's pieces, Yeah, yeah.

Speaker 10 (30:07):
They're They're better than the normal sized greass pieces. They're
like deeper than they're smaller. Those to me are just
like absolutely by far the number one thing you want.
And then obviously, do you remember do you remember back
in the day you knew every house in your neighborhood
that would give out the bigger candies.

Speaker 1 (30:23):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, the rich area.

Speaker 10 (30:26):
The dentist house. Yeah yeah, and then you skip the
dentists in the neighborhood house because they were given out
two brushes. Yes, yeah, good times, good times. It's too
bad that sixty percent of children aren't aren't going out anyway. Hey,
by the way, Ryan, you're you're you're blasting Rick for
his uh like technological boomerism. Yeah, and then calling them tweets.

(30:49):
Are they still called tweets?

Speaker 1 (30:50):
But well what are they though posts?

Speaker 10 (30:54):
I think they're x's or something.

Speaker 1 (30:56):
They're not exes. Stop it, come on, stop it.

Speaker 10 (31:00):
Everybody loves their exit.

Speaker 1 (31:01):
Yeah.

Speaker 5 (31:01):
Absolutely, thanks for doing this, Thomas. Happy Halloween. We'll talk
to you next Friday.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
Thanks boys, all right? Uh go jays Jay.

Speaker 5 (31:09):
I know he'll be watching the game tonight and tomorrow.
If it goes tomorrow as well, we'll talk more about
the Canucks. Also, what's happening around these parts of this
weekend Lions, white Caps and the poll question for the
first time as well, it's Donny Downy the team on
check looking.

Speaker 1 (31:25):

perfect year round escape. Book your getaway now at two
two four eight eight tuple three.

Speaker 1 (32:02):
Your island adventure starts here.

Speaker 4 (32:10):
Oh the Ghostbusters, Ray Parker Jr.

Speaker 1 (32:13):
That's right, great song. Do you have a favorite Halloween movie? No,
I'm not a scary movie guy. I don't do horror movies.

Speaker 5 (32:20):
And Halloween movies were thirteen. No, I don't do any
of that. But this movie, this is this is how.
It's got a it's got a twinkle in the eye.
It's a song.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
It was a big hit in the eighties.

Speaker 5 (32:31):
The remake Ghostbusters After Life came out a few years
ago with Paul Rudd.

Speaker 1 (32:35):
That's very good, very very good.

Speaker 5 (32:38):
Not supposed to be a sequel, but it kind of
carries it on in some.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
Ways, very very good. But Ghostbusters is great, one of
the best movie themes of all time and one of
the best sequels of all time. Too, Ghostbusters too Yeah,
I've never seen Ghosts really well, really yeah.

Speaker 5 (32:55):
All right, uh, let's get to the pole question for
the first time today. The pole question broad you buy
the Wattling Dog?

Speaker 1 (33:01):
Are good pals?

Speaker 5 (33:02):
There, Brandon and everyone at the Waterling Dog Experience one
of Victoria's iconic destinations, sleep, sip, stock up all in
one legendary spot.

Speaker 1 (33:09):
Come sit and stay at the dog today, Nina, get
her up the waddling Dog.

Speaker 4 (33:15):
Pop pul question as keeper Sherwood answered, must resign territory
for the Canucks?

Speaker 1 (33:20):
Yes or no?

Speaker 4 (33:20):
And look at this, sixty eight percent say yes, thirty
two percent say no, over seven hundred votes already, it's hopping.
It's popping, it's not stopping on a Friday morning. And
keep for Surewood, Let's give credit where credits due. Five
goals last three games, tied for the NHL leading goals.
He's a UFA, has got no contract. Canucks have not
yet started serious talks with the Sherwood's agent. The serious

(33:43):
talks have not started. Even these five goals have not
started kickstarted contract talks, but you either get the I
know what Thomas was saying, but if you keep waiting
and he keeps going, the price goes up and then
he's gonna outprice himself in Vancouver totally.

Speaker 5 (33:58):
This is rob in the West End base. I know
proNT Resort inbox. Who else other than Sherwood brings any
toughness to this roster. Sherwood five times five. Get it
done or you are definitely saying goodbye to Quinn Hughes.
I'm not sure if I'm going that far. You know,
if the Knducks move on from Key for sure, what
I don't necessarily know that changes things with Hughes one
way or another. But I am one hundred percent in

(34:20):
the camp of I think you signed this guy sooner
than later. I appreciate what Thomas is saying, and like,
let's be honest, Cannucks are five hundred, right, They're five hundred.
What this team is nobody knows because they were healthy
for like a period and a half, it feels like,
and then everything started to break down. So we have
no idea what this team is and whether or not
you want to walk in on a guy based on

(34:42):
the direction of where this thing could go if this
is a bad year for the Cakducks. I respect all that,
but again I go back to the things I brought up,
beyond the points, even beyond the hits. That's clearly an
insanely popular teammate and clearly good for the culture of
this organization, which has had some serious question marks over
the last few years.

Speaker 1 (34:59):
And that is stuff you can't put a dollar figure
two like, you know you can't. You know, Ryan, here's
the other one for you.

Speaker 4 (35:07):
Why is a guy making one point five million leading
your team in goals? Where was Kane last night? I
know he had a goal call back. Where was Debrsk?
I know he scored in the shootout? Where was Peterson? Yeah,
the guys making the big bucks, the Caine and Debrsk
kept two goals between the two.

Speaker 1 (35:21):
Of them all season long.

Speaker 4 (35:23):
I mean, these guys got to step up and the
guy making one point five million is leading your team
in goals.

Speaker 1 (35:28):
Kane did have an assist last night, he set up
I know that.

Speaker 4 (35:32):
But Caine's gonna have an awful tough time as a
UFA getting another decent contract, sitting at zero goals in
twelve games.

Speaker 1 (35:38):
But you are right, Rick, I mean I was sitting
there last night looking again, those guys need to step off, right,
I mean they needed they needed them. Like again, look
at all the talk about those guys going into the season.
Now you add.

Speaker 5 (35:50):
On all of these injuries and it just hammers it
home even more that come on, guys, let's go here.
Like I'm sorry, there's a lot of nights I just
don't notice Jake Brusque and yet he ended the shootout
last night beautiful, beautiful.

Speaker 1 (36:04):
Yeah. Guess what. No one's on him, No one exactly.

Speaker 4 (36:06):
Yea, you know, no one's on him, No one, sham,
No one's hacking him, no one, you know, with the stick.

Speaker 1 (36:11):
He had all the time in the world to do that.

Speaker 5 (36:13):
Another positive vote of last night's Canucks game we talked
to Thomas brought up Kevin Lankanan. Uh, thirty nine he
stops thirty nine. No, sorry, he let in three goals
on thirty nine shots, stopped thirty six, made thirty six saves.

Speaker 1 (36:27):
Yeah. Uh, he kept them in this game from at points.

Speaker 5 (36:31):
I thought the first goal wasn't the best for the Blues,
but after that he settled it, especially in the third period.
He saved their bacon and a lot of people brought
him up last night online. That was that was needed
because the talk was starting to creep up a little
bit about how he started this year.

Speaker 1 (36:48):
Yeah, and look at all this money these dudes got
in the crease and Dempko has been lights out. That's
no question. Dempko has been lights out. What's been going
on with lancanning last night? He calmed for sure with
the way he played.

Speaker 4 (37:01):
I love the fact everyone says he stopped to be
shot in the shootout. Did you see shn He didn't
even shoot? Oh that was yeah, you see the Saint
Louis coach. How pissed he wise?

Speaker 1 (37:09):
Yeah, he was fun. Oh my coments.

Speaker 4 (37:12):
I think Shen you know, cost him the game because
that's a valuable point.

Speaker 1 (37:16):
But anyways, hey, look lancan and has him been great?
Was great? Last night.

Speaker 4 (37:20):
Canuck's routshot thirty nine eighteen. This team, with eight injuries
cannot afford bad goaltending. Dempko has given them great goaltending.
Lancolnan hasn't for the longest time. But last night you
cannot say anything bad about lancan and he was the
number one star along with Sherwood, but they got the
goaltending they needed. Now you're going to see Dempko in
Minnesota tomorrow, possibly in Nashville. And also the Americans were

(37:44):
in Saint Louis last night. The American Olympic team had
a representative there. I think they went to see Dempko
but he didn't start. But they had other guys on
other teams too. But anyways, the Americans will probably move
over to Minnesota to watch Dempko play well.

Speaker 1 (37:58):
I mean Bill Garrian of course GM of the wild
part of the Minnesota.

Speaker 4 (38:02):
But I do believe the Americans were had a representative
their last night in Saint Louis.

Speaker 5 (38:07):
Yeah, no, that you're you're you're right ray this team,
even when healthy, let's be honest, Quinn, he was talked
about it going into the year. This team is not
equipped to be putting up five six goal efforts every night.

Speaker 1 (38:18):
They're gonna need the goaltender. And again, I don't get
these people that make that as like a diss against
the Canucks, like, oh, they're only they're only in these
games because their goaltender. He's a player on the ice.
He's allowed to be very very good, and he was
very good last night. They've had very good goaltending from thatcher.
Dempko has been great. He's Demo has been their best player.

Speaker 4 (38:39):
And Dempko is slowly starting to get into the talk
of going to the Olympics, and if he keeps that up,
I don't I be shocked if he doesn't go to
the Olympics. Oh, I mean yeah, I mean unless some
point the Americans are they're rich. Yeah, yes, Hellabuck, demp
go Ottranger. Uh, the cord in Seattle splaying great. They're

(39:00):
gonna have to make some big, tough cuts.

Speaker 1 (39:02):
But again, though, Rick, I mean, four nations, different beast.
Hella Buck wasn't amazing, but he Jake Gardner the gold
medal game, right, I know, Jake Gardinger. We saw what
happened when he was in a big game for Dallas
last year. Yeah. The coach, Yeah, the coach wasn't very common.

Speaker 5 (39:16):
I mean to me, I I think I might take
Demko over those two dudes. Now, we watched Demko every
Canucks game. I'm not gonna sit here and say that
I watch every Winnipeg Jets game or Dallas starts. He's
been great, but Demco has been great, and he silenced
a lot of a lot of people coming back off
his numerous injuries.

Speaker 1 (39:35):
Speaking of injuries, Derek, I want to show this board.

Speaker 5 (39:38):
I mean again, this drives home what the Canucks are
dealing with at the moment, both in Vancouver and in Abbitsford.
Look at the list the Vancouver names, Quinn Hughes, Carter Garland,
Nils Holglender, Filipido, Jonathan Karamaki, Derek Forward, Victor Mancini, Teddy
Blueger and in Abbotsford, Gio Breesebaw, jet Wu.

Speaker 4 (39:56):
And Nikita Tolaopelou. Tolapo could be back this week. So
I don't think I'm what I heard initially. I don't
think Tolaplo is super long out, but jet Wu and
Breezeball really hurt. Jet Wou's looking at Christmas, Breezeball was
looking into the New Year. That's their top shut down
Briar in Absburg. If there's one guy that you can

(40:19):
feel sorry for is Manny Mahultra. He went from the
American Hockey League champs to an East Coast Hockey League roster.
Did you see his defense the other night? Like Ryan,
A bunch of undrafted guys and the only kid that
the Sawyer Minio played twenty minutes. He like, if the
if Abosburgh was good on defense, he'd be back in

(40:41):
Calgary the Western Hockey League, like I do feel for
many Mahultra, not only the eight injuries in Vancouver, but
the two that really kill him are Breezeba Wu Right,
you're taking out two to twenty minute defensemen out of
his lineup every night, and you're not even gonna get
them till possibly December and beyond.

Speaker 1 (40:59):
That's the thing. It's the ripple effect. Not only they've.

Speaker 4 (41:01):
Lost six straight. They can't score. I mean it's they
got one goal in their last two games. And I
know Donnie says, oh he's aqui. I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (41:09):
Like nobody's equipped.

Speaker 4 (41:11):
Nobody, Like there is no American Hockey League team on
this planet that is equipped to handle what that you
just posted right there.

Speaker 1 (41:19):
Nobody. And let's be honest.

Speaker 5 (41:20):
I mean, Rick, some of these guys on the Vancouver
side their long term.

Speaker 1 (41:24):
I mean we know about Hoglander, right, he had his
surgery was.

Speaker 4 (41:27):
A Taramaki is not too far Man, and he's not
too far. Blueger's not too far, Garland's not too far,
and Hughes ain't too far.

Speaker 1 (41:35):
But but Forbert Keto Hoglander long term, yes, yes, yeah,
I mean you got three.

Speaker 4 (41:42):
This should get better this injured list in the next
week to ten days.

Speaker 5 (41:47):
And the thing that you know Jonathan Karamaki, he would
be a guy right now that would have a golden
opportunity with all of these injuries that you could give
a bigger role to and see what does he have
and yet he's been out with an injury as well.

Speaker 4 (42:00):
It's just top six incredible, really hurt when you lose
the top six guys and your franchise defenseman.

Speaker 5 (42:05):
No kidding, no kidding. But by the way, best or
not on this list. Looks as though he's.

Speaker 4 (42:10):
Going to be back in the up and about this morning,
and the expectation is Bester will play in Minnesota.

Speaker 1 (42:15):
Yeah, after taking that shot in the semi shallow area
exactly last night. Time now to talk about our title
sponsor Able auctions.

Speaker 5 (42:24):

(44:41):
photo from Jackie from Steveston. This pumpkin is rich Head exploding.
After the Blue Jays the World Series and Jackie's right.
That's Jackie from Steveston. She's got that is very creative.

Speaker 1 (44:53):
Pumpkins, very very creative work.

Speaker 5 (44:56):
My wife I told her the story earlier in the week.
I can't be around pumpkins being carved. The smell makes
me just I can't do it. So my wife carved
our pumpkin with my son Max, right, and she did
a very basic I mean it was like, you know,
two eyes, a little smile.

Speaker 1 (45:09):
This, I mean, this is impressive. The eyebrows are very impressive.

Speaker 5 (45:12):
Yes, yeah, well the whole thing, the brain coming out,
all of it. So thank you to Jackie from Steveston
for that photo.

Speaker 1 (45:18):
We also want to give a shout out to arguably
our biggest fan.

Speaker 5 (45:22):
It's arguable he's on the list at least the Mount Rushmore.
It's Pedrum from North Vancouver. Today is his fiftieth birthday birthday,
so happy birthday to Pedrum, massive fan of the show.
He works at the at PC Place and at Rogers Arena,
so you might see him around from time to.

Speaker 1 (45:38):
Time during games. He's a great guy.

Speaker 4 (45:41):
He's followed our careers over the years. Oh yeah, I
remember day one of ten forty starting and we used
to get texts and emails from Paidrum. Just a really
good guy. Loves all the media guys, supports us all
the negative nanny people in the world. This guy's a
positive guy. Never says anything negative about us. He's always
positive and happy fiftieth birthday, Pedrom and he supports all

(46:05):
the local teams too. So just a happy birthday to
him for sure. Okay, now time to get to big
rather twitter guy. Yeah, I want to show that you
can put up the first tweet here, Nina. This is
the Pittsburgh Penguins. They're having some fun with Halloween.

Speaker 1 (46:20):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (46:21):
So they've got a PSA to all the trigger treaters
out there, and then they've got a graphic. The graphic says, parents,
please check your kid's candy this Halloween. I just found
the most points in the NHL in my son's candy bar.

Speaker 1 (46:36):
Please be safe. I don't know if you saw this
last night, Rick, The Penguins last night.

Speaker 5 (46:43):
Beat the Minnesota the NHL. They beat them four to one.

Speaker 1 (46:49):
Minnesota's not they got boot up the ice. Yeah, I
mean they have three wins in regulations so far this year.
The Penguins, though, everybody in the offseason. Oh, if there's
one team that's going to be a seller. It's going
to be the Pens. Where's Crosby gonna end up? All
this stuff?

Speaker 5 (47:04):
They've played great so far out of the gate, and
we should mention, by the way, because we've got somebody
that text us about this. Coquitlam's very own Ben Kindall
played in his tenth NHL Kindel right, tenth NHL game
last night with the Penguins eleventh overall pick in this
past draft.

Speaker 4 (47:20):
Right, he's eighteen, and people were shocked when he went
eleventh because a lot of teams had him in the twenties.
And this kid from Coquitlam, Yeah, yeah, his dad played
for the white Caps eighty six ers. I used to
interview his dad, Steve Kendell at Swanguard Stadium all the time.
Just a great athletic family.

Speaker 5 (47:36):
So, I mean, it has been a heck of a
start for the Penguins, again, a team that a lot
of people expected was going to be in the bottom
of the National Hockey League.

Speaker 1 (47:44):
Okay, a little more on the World Series happening. You
can hit the cronina if you have the crow there
it is. This is from Ben Steiner from CBC Sports
Sports Illustrated as well. Tonight will be the eighth World
Series game played on Halloween. But this is the interesting part.
The Blue Jays would look to become the first team
to win the World Series on Halloween. No team has

(48:06):
won it on Halloween.

Speaker 5 (48:07):
Twenty seventeen, the Dodgers forced a Game seven against George
Springers Houston Astros in a Halloween Game six, So the
Jays can make some history tonight if they go on
force out the Dodgers in six games.

Speaker 1 (48:20):
Let's go.

Speaker 4 (48:20):
Kevin Gossman on the mound for the Jays and Yoshinubo
Yakamato is on the mountain on the mound for the Yeah,
just listen to me. This is a great pitch and matchup.
And Gossman, Donny or right, Ryan? Yeah, Gosman's been good
so far.

Speaker 1 (48:37):
Yep.

Speaker 4 (48:38):
You cannot say anything negative about Gossman. And the hitting
has been great. All they got to do is keep
the hitting up. They'll be fine tonight, yep.

Speaker 5 (48:45):
So five o'clock our time is the first pitch again.
Game six tonight, game seven tomorrow if needed, and we're
gonna talk more about the World Series next with Josh
Goldberg from Blue Jays Nation reporter and he's also podcast
hosts for the Designated for Assignment podcast. So we'll talk
with Josh about the atmosphere in Toronto heading into tonight's

(49:06):

including Josh Goldberg from Blue Jay's Nation, also host of
the Designated for Assignment podcast.

Speaker 1 (49:55):
Again, we've been talking about a.

Speaker 5 (49:57):
Game six World Series Dodgers, Jay's back in Toronto tonight.
Rick refusing to handle candy for trigger treaters. Stop it,
It'll be so locked in on tonight's Jay's game.

Speaker 1 (50:10):
Josh, thanks for doing this today. How are you im? Good? Thanks,
are you guys? I'm good.

Speaker 5 (50:14):
Will you be handing out candy or I guess it's
Eastern time, so the trigger treating should be died down
right by the time the Jay's game comes around.

Speaker 7 (50:21):
Yeah, it's at lockdown, well, well before eight o'clock. No,
no worry's there. It'll be in earlier evening, but yeah,
the lights will be turned off U and baseball will
be the primary focal points at eight o'clock.

Speaker 1 (50:35):
Yes, sir.

Speaker 5 (50:36):
So what is the atmosphere like in Toronto? It's Halloween,
it's Friday, Game six, They've got two cracks to clinch
this World Series.

Speaker 1 (50:43):
What is it like in Toronto right now?

Speaker 7 (50:46):
I would say it's it's it's pretty crazy, like there's
there's a lot of anticipation, obviously a lot of excitement. Understandably,
this is you know, it's not over yet. You need
to get that fourth win. Blue Jays have done themselves
a lot of favors with generally speaking, how they played
for the most part the first five games of the series.
I don't think there's any question that they've been pretty

(51:09):
handily the better team than the Dodgers, arguably in four
of the five games. For the most part even the
inn game. They had a lot more opportunities, it felt
like to kind of break through there to win that game,
and unfortunately didn't. And they've got two cracks to win
it at home, and they're one of the best home
teams in Major League Baseball, So fans are understandably very excited.

(51:31):
But considering it's Toronto and there's some tortured moments over
the years, particularly when it comes to the hockey team,
I would say a lot of people aren't necessarily quite
counting their chickens, just quite yet.

Speaker 5 (51:45):
Trey Savage, Josh, we got to talk to you about him.
He was here with Vancouver Canadians back in me. He's
played in every level of baseball. This year, he's pitched
more innings for the Jays in the postseason than he
has in his regular season career. How impressed have you
been by this performance by Trey Savage?

Speaker 7 (52:05):
Words can't really put it into perspective. It's historically great.
It's one of the best rookie pitching performances in the
history of baseball. And we're talking record setting strikeouts by
a rookie in a World Series game. He set the
Blue Jays franchise record for postseason games in terms of

(52:26):
strikeouts twice this year. It's wild, you know, they're really
There aren't many words that can sum up having this
level of success. And it was really impressive that he
had his splitter going the way that it did after
he struggled so much in the first start with it.

(52:49):
In Game one, he was locked in right away. It
was immediately clear that he was going.

Speaker 1 (52:53):
To have it.

Speaker 4 (52:55):
Hey, Josh, thirty five hits, seventeen runs. Just the offense
in LA last week games just incredible. Then last game,
first two guys up to play homers. The offense has
been really good for Toronto.

Speaker 7 (53:10):
Yeah, it really has, and it's been good most of
the season. Really, since like the first month or so
of the regular season. It's been one of the best,
if not in some respects the best offensive team in
Major League Baseball. And they've done it in such an
interesting way. In the playoffs, obviously, you want to be
able to hit home runs in October. They can be

(53:31):
the great equalizer if you are a little bit chilly,
you can flip a game on its head. Look at
Game seven against Seattle. They had nothing going really and
then bing bang boom. George Fringer hits a three run
homer and it completely flips the game around. But they
haven't abandoned what made them successful all year long, which
is putting a ton of pressure on opposing pitchers, not

(53:53):
necessarily expanding the strike zone and chasing and having bad swings.
They make a ton of contact, they don't don't strike
out very much, and they've increased their power production in October.
And when you mold all of that together, you have
a really, really difficult team to pitch to, and they're
going to need to tap into that in a big

(54:14):
way tonight because the pitcher that is going to be
standing in their way of the first World Series win
in this city in more than thirty years is one
of the best in the business. We saw it in
Game two. He was phenomenal. He's been phenomenal really all
playoffs long. He had a great regular season. He's really
tough in terms of how you can pick him up

(54:36):
and predictability and that sort of thing. So they're going
to need to be at their absolute best that they
want to have success against him.

Speaker 4 (54:43):
You can't get this far without a superstar, and that
is what Vladimir Guerrera Junior is he is fun to watch.
Eight homers, fifteen RBI, twenty five hits.

Speaker 1 (54:53):
He's been spectacular.

Speaker 7 (54:56):
Oh man, he sure has. I wrote before the postseason
that it was obvious to say this, but he needed
to step up in a really meaningful way and put
the team on his back, especially with Bobaschet on the
shelf to start October. And you think about his postseason career.
In the first six games, it was only six games

(55:16):
with three trips. They got swept in all three. He
had done nothing, hadn't hit a home run, I think,
had three hits and like twenty some on at bats.
He really hadn't had any positive postseason moments. And then
right away I believe he had a home run in
the first inning of Game one against the Yankees, and
you're like, Okay, maybe this is going to be something.
He hits the Grand Slam in Game two against the Yankees,

(55:41):
and it's just been ridiculous ever since. We're talking about
in one playoffs. He's now the all time franchise leader
in home runs after one postseason run, and he's having
a postseason performance on par with some of the all
time greats like a Barry Bonds, for example, in two
thousand and two. The Bats are so oh good. He

(56:01):
punishes mistakes, he's not chasing, he's not striking out much.
He's really the perfect kind of poster boy for what
has made the Blue Jays special in October, and it's
the combination of contact, not striking out, and hitting for power.
And he does all of that.

Speaker 1 (56:17):
States Josh.

Speaker 4 (56:18):
Before this series started, there were people who said, Dodgers sweep,
it's gonna be you know, they just don't even show
up Blue Jays. You know what, a lot of people
look dumb, and this Blue Jays team is proving a
lot of people wrong. Look at the payroll for the Dodgers.
Look at the Dodgers pitching their era before they got
to the Jays. I mean, how were you said, Are

(56:41):
you surprised we're at where we're at because the Mighty
Dodgers were supposed to just it was supposed to be
a cakewalk.

Speaker 7 (56:48):
I would say, maybe a bit surprised, definitely not shocked, though.
I just think that I understand that the disparity in
terms of name brands to maybe the casual fan and say,
look at this Dodgers lineup with those three at the
top and the pitching rotation with all the stars that
they have, and all that is fair, but the Blue

(57:09):
Jays have neutralized essentially Mookie Bets has been terrible in
this series. Freddy Freeman, outside of the home run in
the eighteenth inning of Game three, really hasn't done much either,
And the rest of the supporting cast of the Dodgers
just has has fallen flat. They just haven't supported those
guys the way that they need to. Blue Jay's pitching
has been largely very good. Their best bullpen arms have

(57:31):
been good enough when they've needed to. Their lineup is
just I understand that the Dodgers saw Philadelphia and Milwaukee,
two quality teams, but there's just something about this Blue
Jays lineup that just really squeezes opposing pitchers. Like they
got to Blake Snell twice and nobody could touch him
really in the playoffs. You look at the numbers coming

(57:53):
into the World Series, and he was basically unhittable and
had great command and throwing his fastball up in the
strike zone right where he wanted to. And then he
started spraying it in Game one, and the Blue Jays
had a great plan of attack against him, and we're
really aggressive obviously the other night in Game five, and

(58:13):
like they're just a scrappy team. It's a hard team
to really kind of put it into an exact word
as to how they're able to have the amount of
success that they have in the multitude of ways that
they're able to have it. But at this point, it's
just it's pointless to try and really dive into it
too much. It's just this is who they've been for

(58:34):
the better part of, you know, five months, and it
shouldn't be surprising anymore that they're having success, regardless of
the level of talent that is on the other end.

Speaker 1 (58:44):
Gut feel and tonight, are we seeing a Game seven?
You know what?

Speaker 7 (58:49):
I after Game three, I was like, I'm not conting
the jas out. I think they're gonna win Game four,
and they did, and I'm saying, hey, I hope I'm
not wrong, but I think they get it done tonight.
I just think that there's kind of like a snowball
effect situation here and they are really getting it all

(59:13):
together at the right time where it feels like the
Dodgers are just kind of out of sorts a little bit,
and their bullpen is a real issue. It was a
big time issue in game five, and I Dave Roberts,
I think is very concerned about having to go to it.
And I just think that they find a way, as
they've done all year long, to get it done. And

(59:33):
I think in I don't know, let's say, nine to
ten hours from now, there's going to be a celebration
happening at Roger Center.

Speaker 5 (59:41):
It could be a very memorable Halloween, that's for sure. Josh,
thanks for doing this today. Really appreciate it.

Speaker 1 (59:46):
Enjoy tonight, Enjoy maybe tomorrow, and we'll talk again down
the road. Thanks for doing this, Thanks for having me, guys,
Josh Goldberg from Blue Jay's Nation and the Designated for

gonna let it play out. We'll let it play out.
Oh wow, that's a what a statement. So we're talking
about the J's and the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (01:00:07):

it's not the it's not from I don't think it
was in the Monsters. This is a song. Yes, yeah,
but there was a TV show in the Monsters. It
was so good. I know that. I know that.

Speaker 4 (01:01:37):
Yeah, Adams Family, Yeah that Madams Family, Adams Family.

Speaker 1 (01:01:42):
No, the Adams Family is different. It was the Monsters run.

Speaker 5 (01:01:45):
Yeah, yeah, this is a Boris Pickett, right, I would
have no idea it is.

Speaker 1 (01:01:52):
It is our Bobby Boris Picket. I believe it is. Yeah.
And the Monster Mash. The Monsters were great. They were
on after school. It was it was really good stuff. Yeah.
How much did you watch every show? You say you watched?
You do your homework after school? Well that's why I
didn't do well.

Speaker 4 (01:02:07):
Yeah, exactly, because I was watching Gilligan's adoy exactly.

Speaker 1 (01:02:10):
Let's refresh our poll question, Our waddling Dog poll question
of the day, A reminder for the dog experience one
of Victoria's iconic destinations sleep stip, sleep, sit stip. What
a stip? Sleep sip?

Speaker 5 (01:02:25):
Stock up, all in one legendary spot, Come sit and
stay at the dog today.

Speaker 1 (01:02:30):
All right, Nina got her up.

Speaker 4 (01:02:31):
The Waddling Dog poll question has keep for sure, where
this is really simple as key, keep for sure? What
entered must resign territory for the Canucks.

Speaker 1 (01:02:40):
So look at that.

Speaker 4 (01:02:41):
Sixty eight percent say yes, thirty two percent say no,
nine and thirty three votes. Already it's hopping and bopping
on a Friday morning.

Speaker 1 (01:02:47):
Yeah, there's a you know what though, And I will
say Rick, when we posted it it was a runaway, yes,
oh yeah. And as time has gone on, it's getting
closer and closer and shrinking closer and closer to a
sixty forty split. Still ways to go, but it's interesting.

Speaker 5 (01:03:02):
And if you missed Thomas Drants in our first hour,
he had some good things to say about Keith for
Sherburan and what the Canucks should do. That interview will
be on our YouTube channel shortly beyond the Canucks again.

Speaker 7 (01:03:12):
Oh.

Speaker 5 (01:03:12):
Actually, while we're on the Canucks. Yeah from Minnesota. Oh
this video courtesy are good pal Dan Murphy from Sportsnet.

Speaker 1 (01:03:20):
Look at this Brock Besser. Last night, he took a shot,
as we know, in the you know what area, But
Brock is Brock left the game back on the ice today.
This jives with what you heard this morning.

Speaker 4 (01:03:32):
I heard this morning nothing negative with Besser and he's
going to most likely play in Minnesota. This is massive news.
This team cannot afford nine guys out. They got eight
guys out, but Brock Besser I was told this morning.
He was up and about this morning and there he
is on the ice, explains everything I was told and
good stuff for Brock. He took one in the you
know what, Sammy Shallow, that kind of thing, and he's

(01:03:55):
feeling better.

Speaker 5 (01:03:56):
And we got a very good Is it just me
about a reference between salom and be.

Speaker 1 (01:04:02):
By the way, Sammy Shallow number six, That's what I
was teasing it to talk about it later. What's up
when number six didn't hit there?

Speaker 4 (01:04:09):
I don't know, hey, and one of the all time
great number six is Dennis Kurrents. I don't remember that
happened in to Dennis.

Speaker 1 (01:04:14):
You know what? Dennis. Yeah, we should find out if
that ever happened to Dennis yor not.

Speaker 4 (01:04:18):
One of the great Canucks of all time, Dennis Currents,
one of my favorites.

Speaker 5 (01:04:21):
Elsewhere locally this weekend, as I mentioned, we have a
pair of tickets to the West Semifinal for tomorrow see
Lions Calgary.

Speaker 1 (01:04:29):
We'll be there, you'll be there. The blue collar seats
blue collar fans, right. How about this with the Lions.
They beat the Stamps twice in the regular season. They've
won the last two West semifinals against the Stamps as well,
so they've had the stamp Peters number recently.

Speaker 4 (01:04:46):
Yes, but then they're going to the Western Final on
the losing on the road and losing it a p
Well it's this guy. If they get past tomorrow Saskatchwan's tough.
It's a top top game.

Speaker 5 (01:04:56):
Said yesterday he sees a path there. I should mention,
by the way, couple of things. First of all, Amar
Doman was on the show yesterday. If you missed that interview,
that's up on our YouTube channel now just search up
Donny and Dolly.

Speaker 1 (01:05:07):
But he mentioned he brought up the good point. You
know they're hoping they packed the pack the dome because
this is the last time people are going to see
the BC Lions at BC Place until August with the
with the World Cup taking over BC Place.

Speaker 5 (01:05:19):
You know, that's a great point. This is a good
point that I didn't think about. So if you want
to check out the Lions, this is going to be
your last chance for quite some time.

Speaker 1 (01:05:26):
Uh. And also they have a backyard.

Speaker 5 (01:05:29):
Brunch happening on the plaza right outside BC Place starting
at eleven am.

Speaker 1 (01:05:34):
Pay attention to this. Mimosas, pancakes, chicken and waffles and
much more.

Speaker 4 (01:05:39):
And it starts to starting one media guy who's going
to be there, MOJ MOJ will be there for all
that stuff you mentioned.

Speaker 1 (01:05:47):
Well you as well, mimosas.

Speaker 4 (01:05:50):
I'm not a big food guy like that. That that's
all most is a drink. I know it is a
junk drink. Sugar in there, champagne inhirt.

Speaker 1 (01:05:59):
It's not good.

Speaker 4 (01:06:00):
Listen much will be there, Julia, those guys, the Pancakes.

Speaker 5 (01:06:06):
I want to play this clip from first year head
coach Buck Pierce. I mean, he's done a heck of
a job. You guys talked to him about a misterday.
He's done a heck of a job. But he is
talking about just how important it was for them to
get this home playoff date at BC Place.

Speaker 12 (01:06:20):
Yeah, they deserve it. They deserve it. You know, Vancouver
and the province of BC loves their sports. Football in
this province is getting bigger and bigger. Every year. You
see more and more kids signing up to play. It's
it's continuing to grow. And when you see the type
of quality of players that we have in this organization,

(01:06:44):
you know, it's easy to support guys like that. If
you haven't gotten out and watched us play, you know,
now's your opportunity. You know, we want we want to
play behind our fans and when BC Places is loud
and rocking in full, there's no venue in the CFL.

Speaker 5 (01:07:02):
Yeah, I mean, he brings it up. I mean it's
easy to root for. This team starts with Nathan Rourke.

Speaker 4 (01:07:06):
Obviously, we have a Canadian quarterback the first time ever
for the BC Lions who is an MVP candidate. He's
the best Canadian quarterback of all time. And thanks to Nathan.
There's some kid out there that is playing Cloverdale minor
football or whatever wherever who says to his dad or
his mom, I want to be the next Nathan Rourke.
And a kid with a dream and that wants to

(01:07:28):
become something is the best thing in the world. And
that's what athletes do. The positive stories about athletes, and
he's a Canadian in an American skilled position. Go out
there and support this Canadian quarterback.

Speaker 5 (01:07:38):
And it was announced earlier in the week, MP is
going to be either Nathan Rourke or bo Levi Mitchell.
Their statistics, by the way, are insanely close, so that'll
be that'll be a tough, tough battle between those two.
The other team that occupies BC plays they're not this
weekend is, of course the Vancouver white Caps. They beat
down Dallas last weekend three to nil. They could have

(01:07:59):
won that game eight nine, ten. They were handling the
better team. They're in Dallas for game number two against
FC Dallas. That is happening on again tomorrow. Just a
ton going on six thirty tomorrow night. We should mention Ricky,
you're like this white Caps tomorrow is on to cable,
TSN cable and tomorrow's game is on TSN and Apple too.

(01:08:22):
But I don't have to spend forty five minutes not
finding it. Then I'm not gonna do it anymore. I'm
done with them, not gonna look. If it's on cable,
I'll watch. I want to get this in.

Speaker 4 (01:08:32):
Charlie and Vancouver sent this in, but my buddy stu
Ay UBC should have sent it in. UBC is hosting
the U Sports Women's Rugby Championship. The defending champion UBC
take on Queen's in the Semis tonight at six thirty,
So get out there. Remember the Canadian women's rugby in England? Yes,
a few saturdays ago at eight in the morning. I
got up for that, you know, what women's rugby. Get

(01:08:54):
out there, UBC a good game tonight.

Speaker 1 (01:08:56):
Lots happening on the local sports scene, just quickly with
the white Caps. One other thing.

Speaker 5 (01:09:00):
Brian White not close to being back on the pitch
for the white Caps. Tristan Blackman named MLS Defender of
the Year. He's working back from an MCL's brain. It's
not looking likely he's available for tomorrow. But this is important.
If the Vancouver white Caps win tomorrow in Dallas and
close this thing out due to an international break, they

(01:09:20):
could have three weeks off if they win tomorrow because
the semifinals don't begin until Saturday, November the twenty second,
and because of the injuries to Brian White and Tristan
Blackman and Ryan Gold's still working his way back to
being one hundred percent, they could really use this time off.

Speaker 4 (01:09:36):
Soy, and you know what, the white Caps are a
great example for the Canucks. Remember they had six, seven,
eight guys injured. Yeah, and they keep winning. Yeah, so
they you know you can. They also added Thomas Mueller
as well.

Speaker 5 (01:09:46):
I don't know if that's happening for the Vancouver world
class player, but yeah, so good luck to the white Caps.

Speaker 1 (01:09:52):
We've got time. I'm gonna run this clip. White Caps
head coach, Yes, PRIs Sorenson, you know, obviously please with
have the way his team played last Saturday, but he
knows FC Dallas probably gonna rise up for game number
two tomorrow.

Speaker 13 (01:10:04):
I don't think that it's going to be easy, because
you know, every game, every game is special, and every
game is different. Of course, they probably, you know, we'll
look at the game we just played and maybe changed
a few things. We don't know about that.

Speaker 1 (01:10:22):
We also have looked at this.

Speaker 13 (01:10:23):
Game and we'll maybe also to change a couple of things.
But we played well the other day and we'll try
to see if we can keep that kind of performance
going because that's how we have to perform in the
playoffs here and then hopefully it will be enough come Saturday.

Speaker 5 (01:10:41):
Yeah, good luck to the white Caps, Good luck to
the Lions again. Big weekend the on the book of sports.

Speaker 4 (01:10:46):
See, let me make a point. I'm getting ripped for
not the candy thing tonight you're getting. People have supported
me too, I know many. I'm not saying you're not
getting candy when you come to my house tonight. I'm
saying I'm not the one getting off the couch to
give it.

Speaker 1 (01:11:01):
To the kids.

Speaker 4 (01:11:02):
So who's gonna do it? Leo, No, I get the
wife to do it. I'm not doing it. There's no
way I'm missing a second of the Blue Jays for Candy.

Speaker 1 (01:11:10):
All Right, I'll get the wife to do it. I'm
not doing it.

Speaker 5 (01:11:13):
You're still you know what I was saying, your neighborhood.
That's the best news they've heard in a long time,
that they're not going to see you. Yeah, on the
other side of the exactly, I'm not you will get
Candy's just not for me.

Speaker 1 (01:11:27):
Not for me.

Speaker 4 (01:11:27):
I'm not getting off that couch when the Blue Jays
have an opportunity to win the World Series for the
first time in thirty three years.

Speaker 11 (01:11:33):
Okay, okay, I have one thing to add. I've got
the monsters here.

Speaker 1 (01:11:37):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:11:38):
I think that Monsters should have the cruise.

Speaker 1 (01:11:42):
It was a great show.

Speaker 11 (01:11:43):
We should have done a group costume me, you, Derek, Hnnie, Rick,
all of us. I can be the little boy, yeah,
as the youngest.

Speaker 1 (01:11:51):
So who's going to be Frankenstein Dracula?

Speaker 4 (01:11:54):
No, the Dracula was the uncle. He was the uncle.
I think he lived next door. He pop my dinner coffee,
all that stuff that can be you, Rick, that was
the and that lady in.

Speaker 1 (01:12:04):
The far left.

Speaker 4 (01:12:05):
If you here's some here's something for you. She's from Vancouver. Yeah,
somebody helped me out. But I remember Donnie telling me
she's from Vancouver. Really, yeah, I do believe one of
the far right, the far left, my far left. Besides, besides,
I'm telling you standing up.

Speaker 1 (01:12:26):
In the top left, somebody on this staff or this
cast is from Vancouver. Okay, this was a great show.
A little Derek saying the blonde one, the blonde of
the right. Yeah, she's from Vancouver. That's yeah.

Speaker 4 (01:12:40):
See there you go. I knew, I knew something was
up with that. This was a great show. It was
a great show. I watched it every day.

Speaker 1 (01:12:47):
But yeah, you are you are getting ripped apart. No,
I'm not Robin Langley. Rick, you are a moron. Try
caring about somebody else.

Speaker 6 (01:12:55):
Oh. It all ties into the shopping car.

Speaker 1 (01:12:59):
Yeah, there's a lot.

Speaker 4 (01:13:00):
And I got guys texting saying I'm with Rick, lights out.

Speaker 1 (01:13:03):
Not man like what I got. You know what, I'm
Martin and North Burnaby. Rick, I'm with you. I'm with
you Martin and Burnaby, Right, there we have.

Speaker 5 (01:13:11):
A very good is it's just me that touches on
the subject again coming up after DTMZ, which is next.
But before we head to DTMZ, you're gonna tell us
about pastime.

Speaker 1 (01:13:19):

Speaker 1 (01:13:45):
Details available at pastime Sports. Dot's the a laptop, Yeah,
in front of the laptop today, we've got the past

So baseball cards that's on the.

Speaker 5 (01:13:58):
Far right, card O the Day, along with Nick Hebler,
but Cardo the Day, Ricky, Matt Boldie, the Minnesota.

Speaker 4 (01:14:05):
That's the guy, the Canuck's head scout at the time,
wanted to pick over Pod Colson and he was overruled.
So Matt Boldie could be a Caduck and Matt Boldie
is the guy others and the staff wanted, right, they
ended up taking Pud Colson and we.

Speaker 1 (01:14:21):
Know how that's going in Edmonton.

Speaker 5 (01:14:24):
Up next, little DMZ, there's a massive memorabilia collection heading
to auction.

Speaker 1 (01:14:30):
I'm going to tell you about that. Next, Totnyelly the

famous Whisler Golf Club.

Speaker 1 (01:15:28):
Go see big Al out there. Great track, great track,
As you said.

Speaker 5 (01:15:31):
DTMZ brought to you by the Arnold Palmer designed Whistler
Golf Club with this week's Photo of the Year candidate.
We're doing this on Fridays. This is captured by Cam Allen.
It's a photo slash video. You can keep it looping
if you want. Derek, this is from Al. He said
they folks at Whistler thought people were vandalizing the golf course,
but it turns out a rogue bear. Look at this

(01:15:54):
was tearing flags off of the flagpoles. She saw the
video there him doing it and this is the aftermath.
Look at this carving up the course. Twelve flags torn
this year.

Speaker 1 (01:16:06):
But he's got a fetish with the flags. Yeah or yeah.
He thinks it's food. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (01:16:11):
Legendary maintenance crew quickly patch them up though, to keep
things rolling at Whistler.

Speaker 4 (01:16:15):
And he doesn't think is food. You think he does.

Speaker 1 (01:16:17):
Why else is he eating it?

Speaker 4 (01:16:19):
He's been at that golf course for years and you
think this is the day he wakes up and thinks
a poll is a good food.

Speaker 1 (01:16:24):
Well, I don't know, it's red. Maybe it looks like
a tomato in him. I'm not sure. Maybe it's just
it's it's playing. I don't know, Hey, Rick, look at this, okay.

Speaker 5 (01:16:31):
The family of former Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Ersay is
selling off his massive memorabilia collection, which at one time
was valued at a billion dollars. The auction is going
to begin in March. There it is there, you can
see part of it. Proceeds of the auction are going
to go to charity. The rest is going to go

(01:16:53):
to the ers family. It's largely known because it's got
a vast selection of musical instruments from the Beatles, Jimmy Hendricks,
Prince Kurt Cobain, and Eric Clapton. It also contains items
such as Muhammad Ali's rumble in the Jungle Championship belt,
the saddle used for Secretariat's Triple Crown run, and a
more than two hundred year old copy of the Declaration

(01:17:16):
of Independence. The collection has actually been rolling on tour
for some time, and it had a one year run
at Indiana University. But the family has just said that, look,
it's just too much to upkeep and have so they're
deciding to sell it off.

Speaker 1 (01:17:30):
And Jim, by the way, while he was he passed
away in May. But Jim Mercy did say he didn't.

Speaker 5 (01:17:35):
Necessarily expect the family to keep it because of the
size of it and the upkeep to it and all
of that, right, so he was gonna leave it up
to them after he passed. And so now it's going
to be sold at auction. Like I say, some of
these guitars are very, very valuable. So it'll see they
go to auction and March we'll see what that what
they fetch. But it's gonna be a pricey It's gonna

(01:17:57):
be a price tag that's gonna be quite hefty.

Speaker 1 (01:17:59):
I think that's for sure.

Speaker 5 (01:18:00):
Okay, you've got birthdays this Halloween October, the thirty first
end of October edition of Birthdays.

Speaker 1 (01:18:06):
You guys are gonna have a tough time on. Oh good, And.

Speaker 5 (01:18:09):
A couple you might get by the way quickly, Yvonne
de Carlo. We had Missus Munster, herman's wife. Herman's wife,
Rick said there was an actress from Vancouver, That's who
it was, Yvonne de Carlo.

Speaker 4 (01:18:23):
Yeah, we had a ton of submission tons, so thank you.

Speaker 1 (01:18:26):
Everybody knows that show. Yeah, yeah, so the far left
beside Dracula is what's your name, right, Yvonne de Carlo
from Vancouver. Yes. We even had somebody say their mother
went to school with her. Yeah, we've had people say
they didn't knew her. So top laugh by Dracula or
is that Dracula? The bottom is the top, the bottom

(01:18:50):
is Frankenstein. Let's move on to top. Left for Vancouver
and right. Derek was wrong. He said the right side.
It was left side.

Speaker 4 (01:18:56):
Okay, let's go Nina. Five birthdays and they're brought to
you by Rix Casino and Place of Automobiles and with
task when Alberta I was there in nineteen ninety four,
Cars cost cars arn't work by my good friend Justin
and East Fan.

Speaker 1 (01:19:11):
Yep, all right.

Speaker 4 (01:19:13):
Just last year this Forewarders was named captain of an
NHL team. His agent is Pat Morris good Palomine. His father, Mike,
played a thousand games in the NHL. His brother Marcus
currently plays in the NHL. Fellino, Nick Felino, that's it,
Nick Follino, turning thirty eight today. I'm shocked you got that.
You won't get this one, Donny would have got it
in a heartbeat. Swedish born player Evon de Carlo stop it.

(01:19:37):
Swedish born player drafted in the second round by the
Canadians in nineteen seventy nine, won a Stanley Cup with
the Habs in eighty six.

Speaker 1 (01:19:44):
He's five feet seven inches.

Speaker 4 (01:19:46):
His nickname was Petite Viking, the little Viking for those
that don't help.

Speaker 1 (01:19:52):
That don't know French. Petite Viking, the little Viking.

Speaker 4 (01:19:57):
What are the initials? Just listen, he's got the same la.
His name is Marcus Naslyn Matts Naslin, Matts Naslin. Yeah, boy,
was he a fun Montreal Canadian to watch. Absolutely Okay,
here we go.

Speaker 10 (01:20:11):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (01:20:12):
This actor started getting noticed on the Toronto based comedy
variety show Second City Television.

Speaker 1 (01:20:19):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (01:20:20):
One of his Hollywood breaks was playing mild mannered army
recruit Dewey Osburger.

Speaker 1 (01:20:26):
In Stripes nineteen eighty one. Great movie.

Speaker 4 (01:20:29):
He played Tom Hanks womanizing brother John John Candy John Candy.

Speaker 5 (01:20:35):
Which, by the way, I haven't seen yet, but apparently
the documentary It's great behind Apparently John Candy a great
Canadian Uncle Buck Brewsters, millions, planes, trains and automobile is
my favorite.

Speaker 1 (01:20:49):
Uncle Buck was.

Speaker 4 (01:20:50):
Former Argos owner Kenosha from the Kenosha Kickers in Home
a law, lovable, great Canadian talent. Okay this he's American talent,
comedian and actor. Lifelong love of collecting things like Hawaiian
shirts right here, right here. He rose to prominence as
a cast member of NBC Saturday The Night Live nineteen

(01:21:12):
ninety to ninety four. He was in Waterboy with Adam
Sadler nineteen ninety eight. Come On, Man, wake Up. One
of his first big hits, Deuce Bigelo Male drop Snider,
Rop Snider.

Speaker 1 (01:21:26):
He's a come on, interesting, It's been. It should have been.
You should have been on top of that quicker Deucepiggelo.
Sandler is a great Seattle last night. Did you see this?

Speaker 5 (01:21:34):
He was in Benchwarmers too, Adam Sandler and Seattle last Night,
and all of the Kraken players were different Sandler characters
or Sandler movie related characters.

Speaker 4 (01:21:43):
Okay, last one. I was listening to this guy's song
in the gym yesterday.

Speaker 1 (01:21:47):
That narrow okay, something from the eighties. I had this song.
It was a good song.

Speaker 4 (01:21:53):
Nineteen ninety his first rap single, number one on the
Billboard Heart one hundred charge Vanilla But what's it called?

Speaker 10 (01:22:02):
Ice?

Speaker 1 (01:22:02):
Ice Baby? Yeahah, which Johnny played this out yesterday. I
was on the bike listening Ice Ice Baby terrible. How
does it you up?

Speaker 6 (01:22:10):
That's like known as like the worst song of all.

Speaker 1 (01:22:11):
Yeah, it's not great.

Speaker 4 (01:22:12):
So I can't sit on a bike in the gym
and listen to Ice Ice Baby.

Speaker 6 (01:22:15):
You can do whatever you want, yeah, but people are
allowed to judge.

Speaker 4 (01:22:18):
It's I'm not a big fan of what's his name
Vanilla Ice, but the song Ice Ice Baby kicks ass.

Speaker 1 (01:22:24):
It's a good song. Sure, Sure, there's one birthday you missed.
I hate doing this.

Speaker 5 (01:22:27):
Hey, one birthday you missed, And it's the person I'm
gonna play us out with today.

Speaker 1 (01:22:32):
Larry Mullin Junior, the drummer for the band You Two.
Who you saw Joshua Joshua Tree seven? I saw it.

Speaker 5 (01:22:40):
This song fittingly has a bit of a Halloween twist
to it. You know why I rick It's called Sunday Bloody. Oh, Yeah,
Sunday great sho. Larry Mullin Junior, turning sixty four Sunday
Bloody Sunday off the album War.

Speaker 1 (01:22:52):

Speaker 1 (01:24:05):
Ricky go all right, Vancouver should.

Speaker 4 (01:24:07):
Rally around the Lions tomorrow and pack the dome for
a mar Doman. The best pro sports owner in Vancouver
A Scott and Coquitlam good text. I think they're like,
I think they'll hit thirty thousand. I don't know how
much over thirty thousand Ryan they're gonna get over, but
I do believe they'll.

Speaker 5 (01:24:22):
Hit thirty yep, and and good on them again, every
person that goes to the turnstiles. It's good because it's
getting Amardomin some payback for the amount he's invested in
this Lions team, which has just been outstanding. A reminder,
speaking of the Lions best, is it just me? Wins
a pair of tickets to the West Semifinal tomorrow?

Speaker 1 (01:24:40):
This is from Andrew and Richmond. Is it just me?
Or is key for Surewood?

Speaker 5 (01:24:43):
The Canucks MVP so far, like the guys playing every
shift like it's a job. Interview at Costco and there's
only one spot left. I swear if effort was a currency,
he'd be buying everyone on the team cars from Bassant
Motors right now. That's a great submission from Andrew, and
that's the point I was making. I know it's not
as tangible as looking at hits or points or goals

(01:25:03):
or whatever. He does a lot of things, the effort
is there the culture part of it with him is there?

Speaker 4 (01:25:10):
That is super valuable? And Rob in the West End?
Who else othern Sherwood brings toughness. Sherewood five times five
should get it done. And or you are definitely saying
goodbye to Hughes So Rob in the West west End.
And again Surewood's not only is he scoring, he's leading
the team in hits. That's a really good one too.
Combo on any hockey club anywhere.

Speaker 5 (01:25:31):
This one here, this is from Charlene. Is it just
me or can the Canucks? Or is it just me?
Or should the Canucks not treat Key for sure? With
like a variable mortgage? They need to lock in now.
The wait and see approach will sadly have us lose
another skilled and character player. And let me tell you

(01:25:53):
it won't go over well if they do have to
move on from him, whatever the reason.

Speaker 4 (01:25:56):
Is, Ryan, Ryan, it will We're twelve games. I understand
that there's no deadline to sign keeper shrew with tomorrow
or next week. They've got months and months to do it.
Yeah you know, I mean everyone's acting like, oh my god,
you got to get it done in thirty seconds.

Speaker 1 (01:26:10):
That's not the way it works. Is it just me?

Speaker 4 (01:26:12):
Or I'm the only one who expected Rick to show
up today in a Phonsie costume for Halloween after mentioning
his hero one hundred times yesterday signed Rubberman. That's outstanding, Fonzarelli,
Happy Days, best character of all time.

Speaker 1 (01:26:27):
It's not even close. This is from Justin and east Van.
Is it just me? That's a good pound Justin Ease fan?
Is it just me?

Speaker 7 (01:26:33):
Or?

Speaker 1 (01:26:33):
If the Lions won six straight games Ever since TJ
Lee rejoined the team, the Lions defense has stepped up.
Let's go for the Great Cup. That's a good point.

Speaker 5 (01:26:41):
They brought TJ Lee back in the fold again. You're
talking about Sherwood and a culture guy. TJ Lee is
that for the BC Lions as well, and it's been
a great addition bringing him back into the great Veteran.

Speaker 4 (01:26:52):
Yeah, you know, people talk you can't play with twenty
one rookies. You gotta have vets who have won and
know about leadership and all that stuff.

Speaker 1 (01:27:00):
Will do what they always do.

Speaker 4 (01:27:01):
They'll disrespect a player that always works hard, character guy
and watch him leave. And when it's Stanley Cup elsewhere
a submission that has got no name attached to it.

Speaker 5 (01:27:10):
That's yeah, I mean that's I think that's the fear
for a lot of people. Absolutely, this is unsigned or no,
this is from Rocking Roger.

Speaker 1 (01:27:20):
This is just me.

Speaker 5 (01:27:20):
But with all the talk about the Canucks and Jays
and the white Caps, what's happening with the BC lines,
For me, as a viewer of fifty years, to see
what Nathan Rourke is doing is the biggest story. Years
from now we will talking. We will be talking about
the Lions victories and hopefully a Gray Cup. Nathan Roke
the best CFO quarterback since Doug Flutie.

Speaker 1 (01:27:39):
Yeah, well, I mean and the best Canadian quarterback of
all time.

Speaker 5 (01:27:42):
I mean, you know, again, we've talked a lot about
what's happening right now in this market with the with
the athletes on the three teams, the three main teams,
the white Caps, Rourke or Hughes and Hugh.

Speaker 1 (01:27:55):
Yeah, I mean, so there's three superstars right there. Yeah,
I mean it's it's it's an embarrassing in the riches,
