Speaker 3 (01:01):
I like it.
Speaker 4 (01:02):
It feels good. No, I think it's silk.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
It feels you think it's silk.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
Oh, I think it's ChIL It feels I'm gonna go
Paul Yester, Okay, but it feels like silk? What huh?
What's wrong with silk?
Speaker 3 (01:13):
Have you never had a thing I've ever owned as
anything silk?
Speaker 4 (01:17):
Really?
Speaker 3 (01:17):
Why are you that rich that you can not about rich?
Speaker 1 (01:21):
Now you you can get anything on internet. Isn't silk
like a pajama fabric? Yeah, scars, a silk star, a
silk scarf.
Speaker 4 (01:31):
I've never heard of a skilled scarf or silk scarf.
Speaker 1 (01:36):
Yeah, no, I haven't heard that.
Speaker 4 (01:37):
This feels I'll check the label on the back in
the break.
Speaker 3 (01:41):
And silk the fabric. Isn't it like the product of worms?
Silk worms?
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Is it?
Speaker 3 (01:46):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (01:46):
Ninas is?
Speaker 4 (01:47):
Yeah, because what do you mean they kill worms for silk?
What are you talking about?
Speaker 1 (01:54):
Worms?
Speaker 3 (01:54):
Some sort of secretion? Right? I don't know, right, Yeah,
that's it from my knowledge of silk.
Speaker 1 (02:02):
Was the fabric of Hugh Heffner's jacket, sweet, that's something.
Speaker 3 (02:06):
It wasn't swayed it was, but it was smoking jacket,
is what it was.
Speaker 1 (02:14):
Pajamas boys, silk pajamas, smoking jacket like it was Wade Hefner.
Come up, you have I think silk?
Speaker 4 (02:25):
I think he had shilk stuffed Hugh Heffner he had
worms in his backyard, and the Playboy mansioned Yeah, I
know where you're going. Yeah, Hugh Heffner had silk for sure.
Speaker 1 (02:36):
Apparently his jacket was silk.
Speaker 3 (02:38):
Oh was it? Okay? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (02:40):
Yeah, Well that that's silk right there.
Speaker 3 (02:42):
That's a good look.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
Well that's what you should be telling the chair is
a good look.
Speaker 4 (02:46):
So this is a jacket or is uh?
Speaker 1 (02:49):
The pajamas under.
Speaker 3 (02:51):
He's got the pajamas underneath the smoking jacket.
Speaker 1 (02:54):
It's a robe.
Speaker 4 (02:54):
It's a rope, a rope, it's a robe.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
It's a robe.
Speaker 3 (02:57):
It's the name smoking jacket, by the way, like.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
Because it's a jacket, you're smoking, probably.
Speaker 3 (03:03):
Smoking jacket and nothing else. Yeah, while smoking.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
I guess back in the day it would kind of
be like a mister Rogers thing. You would smoke then
take the jacket off.
Speaker 3 (03:12):
I don't think mister Roger, but you know, I never know,
pajamas and smoking mister.
Speaker 1 (03:16):
Rogers changing outfits. Remember he would come into the little neighborhood.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
He put on a card again, but he was smoking jack.
Speaker 1 (03:25):
But he didn't and then but didn't light up at dark?
You know, hey, kids, I was didn't he take didn't
he take a cardigan off just to put a cardigan on?
Speaker 3 (03:35):
No, I think it was like a winter jacket or
just a jacket. He would take that off and put the.
Speaker 4 (03:39):
Car card on.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
Look at that beautiful all that. We'll run it that.
Speaker 4 (03:45):
By the way, mister Rogers, I can't.
Speaker 3 (03:47):
Say I watched one Fit again?
Speaker 1 (03:49):
What?
Speaker 3 (03:49):
No?
Speaker 1 (03:50):
When then Daniel Tiger the spin off? It was It
was boring. It was life lessons well wholesome.
Speaker 3 (03:57):
And look how I turned down the little train. I
should have watched Game five man. We're gonna get to
the hockey in a second. Okay, we're off silk or
off silk. Game five Man Cup last night at Queen's
Park arena. And I tell you, Rick, I know you
were Werior and you're a New West guy. You were
worried about the salmon abilities to win the first two games,
(04:17):
get crushed in games three and four, series tied to two.
But they won last night. They beat six Nations fifty
to eleven, News up and it was a convincing win.
The score of flatters the Chiefs New West up three
to two. Game six. They can wrap it up on Friday,
game seven if needed. If six Nations wins would be
on Saturday at Queens Park Arena. The West has won
(04:38):
just one of the last seventeen Man Cups. Last time
the West one was Victoria in twenty fifteen. The Salmonbillies
have wonned more Mann Cups than anybody, Right, but not
one in thirty plus years. Right, They've won twenty four
Man Cups. The last one they won was in nineteen
ninety one. Do you know who was on that team
other than Dave Duranti? No, Doug Taylor?
Speaker 4 (05:00):
Oh, your nephew?
Speaker 3 (05:01):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (05:01):
Who you know? We golf with? Yeah? Are you talking
about Dougie? The we golf with a couple of year Yes, O,
Dougie was on that.
Speaker 3 (05:07):
Yeah, he played on that team. Why is that surprising
they celebrated in smoking jackets.
Speaker 1 (05:13):
He's a champion.
Speaker 3 (05:14):
Wow?
Speaker 1 (05:15):
Did they get anything like rings or anything like? Did
they have you know what?
Speaker 3 (05:19):
I'm not really I'm not really sure. I know they
had a party afterwards?
Speaker 1 (05:23):
You right by the way, mister Rogers took off like
a blazer.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
Yeah, oh it was a blazer.
Speaker 1 (05:27):
Well like like yeah, like it looks like a like
it looks like a like a regular see like a
blazer like a like a suit jacket, takes that off
into the closet, it goes out comes the cardigan.
Speaker 3 (05:37):
Yeah from Pittsburgh, fred rg Yeah he was, He's Pittsburgh.
Speaker 4 (05:41):
Gad.
Speaker 3 (05:42):
No, I just threw that out for no reason at all.
Speaker 1 (05:44):
I did not know that goes the cardigan cardigan, Tom Hanks,
that movie is a good movie.
Speaker 3 (05:49):
Is a good movie friends in the neighborhood or whatever.
Speaker 1 (05:51):
But is that that much.
Speaker 3 (05:51):
Of a big, big enough difference Blazer to Cardigan?
Speaker 1 (05:55):
That's the thing, like, and he zips it all the
way halfway, but still like, how do you need to
be in a.
Speaker 3 (06:01):
Zipper cart again versus the button?
Speaker 1 (06:02):
And then he changed out the shoes too. That's right.
I forgot about that.
Speaker 3 (06:06):
Change things people don't do anymore. No, that do you
take your shoes off when you go to someone's house.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
It depends summertime.
Speaker 3 (06:15):
I always ask summertime.
Speaker 1 (06:16):
Maybe not immediately because summertime you might be going to
somebody's deck.
Speaker 3 (06:20):
It's changed because and again a candidate for our worst
show ever, you know, five minutes in, But it's changed
because people have hardwood now.
Speaker 4 (06:28):
Right, yeah, but still dirty. I take it off every
single time. I respect for the person.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Yeah, I know, not everybody does. There's a controversy in
our household. Really really, people come in, they don't ask. Okay,
so again, Game five or Game six, Friday, Man Cup Hockey.
Speaker 1 (06:53):
Goal seven, slate bag, slate bag, and mission just rode
into the Bayside Ocean Front RESORTI in box. They get
rings when they win the Man Cup. I don't know
if Doug did.
Speaker 3 (07:03):
I haven't seen it.
Speaker 4 (07:04):
Maybe they didn't give him one back in ninety one.
Maybe they weren't given out rings, but they do now.
Speaker 1 (07:08):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (07:10):
I always remember that because Doug Doug, he dropped the
gloves a lot, really, and I always remember him wearing
number seventeen. I loved the number. I wore seventeen a
lot in hockey and lacrosse, and he wore seventeen that year. Okay.
Quinn Hughes, we talked a lot about him yesterday. Yeah,
all right. He's in Vegas, or he has been in
Vegas for the NHL's media tour. Yesterday he told us
(07:32):
his brothers, his brother Jack's comments about wanting to play
one day with Quinn, No big deal. It doesn't mean
it's gonna happen tomorrow or within the in the near future.
He's his brother. What else he was gonna say. Quinn
made a good point. I don't think we ran it yesterday.
Don't think we talked about it yesterday. A bigger story
would have been him saying, you know, I don't want
never want to play with that guy. Of course he's
(07:54):
gonna say I want to play with my brother. No
big deal. But he also did a thirty two Thoughts
interview with Elliott Friedman and Kyle Poconas, right, there was
lots to choose on, lots to chew on. Rather for
one thing, he talked about his season last year and
how difficult it was. Not going to the Four Nations
(08:16):
still eats away at him. He torn a tore a
ligament in his hand in December and that was followed up,
as you remember, by an oblique tear in January, and
there was remember in February, is he going to go
to the Four Nations? He's not going. Oh, he will go,
you know the tournaments. He was going to get on
their way. Yo. Then he didn't go on the plane,
(08:38):
and he says the Canucks didn't hold him back. So
it was a tough season for him with the injuries,
with four Nations in mind and what the Canucks were
up to, you know, playing the playoffs, finishing with nineteen
points fewer than they did the season before. But like
I said, lots to chew on, and this was probably
the clip. Well, this was the clip that stood out
(08:58):
for us more than anything else we got. We got
this clip that this coming season, this season, he's got
two years left on his on his current contract, he
can start. The Canucks can start talking to him next
summer right July from July. But this season, how the
Canucks do will influence his decision on staying in Vancouver.
(09:19):
Quin News.
Speaker 5 (09:21):
I've really enjoyed Vancouver. I'm very thankful. I mean, when
I came to Vancouver, I don't think anyone thought I
was going to become I have become, and that's happened
because of the people in Vancouver. Management, coaching. You know,
I've had three great coaches between Bruce Greener and Rick
(09:42):
so and manager and has been you know, kind of
gave me the keys to the kingdom a couple of
years ago, naming me the Sea and very grateful. As
far as this year, I just feel like last year
is a failure and I want to propel my game
even further and propel my teammates even further and see
what we can do. And as far as that question,
I mean, I'll answer that, you know, with my actions
(10:07):
next summer. But I mean, you know how it is,
anything can change. If we have, you know, a terrible
year this year, that that's probably not gonna be very fun.
But if we have a terrific year, you know that's
what we want, that'll be that'll be really fun, like
two years ago was really really fun. So just leave
it at that.
Speaker 3 (10:24):
If you go Quinn Hughes on a conversation with Elliott
and Kyle.
Speaker 4 (10:28):
One thing that kid tells you what's on his mind.
He doesn't make stuff up. He tells it to you.
If they have a good year, Donny, it will go
a long way and help and resign him. If they
missed the playoffs again, he has been here six years,
two good playoff runs let's call the bubble of playoff
run and four years of no playoffs. The kid wants
to win. What is Connor McDavid? Why has he not
(10:50):
signed in Edmonton? Wants to win? He wants to.
Speaker 3 (10:53):
All these young guys gone to the Sandy Cup Final two.
Speaker 4 (10:55):
No I know, but what did he win? Did he win?
Speaker 3 (10:58):
No?
Speaker 4 (10:58):
They lost? He wants to win. He wants what's that cup? Ring?
And these kids want to win and they'll go and Donnie,
when they become up as they'll go to a place
where they can win.
Speaker 3 (11:07):
Okay, I'm going to go back to something I talked
about earlier this week. He talked about the possibility of
a terrible season, and if you've been in Vancouver long enough,
you know that's that is that is as what if
they're terrible, awful and they win the lottery?
Speaker 6 (11:28):
What?
Speaker 3 (11:29):
Why is that? What are you laughing at over there?
You're telling me that might not influence his decision to stay.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
Again, we how have you already done this lottery?
Speaker 4 (11:38):
Have you liked the top six? Have you looked at
the forward group?
Speaker 1 (11:41):
Have you looked at other teams?
Speaker 4 (11:43):
Can I?
Speaker 1 (11:44):
They're not going to be worst in the league unless
some catastrophic.
Speaker 3 (11:47):
Island has won the lottery this year? But yeah, they
jumped say a terrible season might not be the be
all and end all in terms of him leaving. If
if they ended up winning the I know this not
going to happen, But what if I can dream?
Speaker 1 (12:03):
Can I?
Speaker 3 (12:03):
I want to see the Knucks do well, I do,
despite what the Canucks might think of the show.
Speaker 1 (12:08):
We know.
Speaker 3 (12:09):
So there is an asterisk beside that statement about a
terrible season.
Speaker 4 (12:15):
What if he's telling you this year is important for
Quinn to make the playoffs and it'll help resign them.
Speaker 3 (12:22):
I think he wants to, you know, wants to have fun.
Part of fun is winning in a playoff run. There's
nothing like it. I mean, you forget every He talks
about twenty twenty four and what a great season it was,
you know, one hundred and nine points. Yeah, than the
nineteen point regression. They go into the play one one
playoff series against Nashville, then they take seven to game seven.
(12:44):
Evonton goes on to the Stanley Cup Final. Evonton goes
on to take Florida to a Game seven in the
Stanley Cup Final, coming back from a three to nothing deficit.
There's only two rounds though for the Canucks. How much
fun was that? It didn't last all that long? But
the playoffs is everything.
Speaker 4 (13:01):
But they had no Bester games have remember, yeah, and
they had no Bester had no so who knows what
could have happened.
Speaker 3 (13:07):
Yeah, that's a good point about people forget that run
was with Archer Sea LOFs Bingo. Who's who's now in Pittsburgh.
Have we got the poll question already or no.
Speaker 1 (13:20):
We haven't decided on a pues so we have decided
on having to put up your I.
Speaker 3 (13:29):
Well he has to do it in the break. We
have to have a poll question on poll question possibilities
because I'm thinking most of the time I think Rix
would win.
Speaker 1 (13:40):
Yeah, yeah, right, I come up with some good ones.
Speaker 3 (13:44):
Okay, here's what's coming up on the show. More from
Quinn Hughes. By the way, he had some things to
say about I think, first and foremost Ilias Petterson's ability
to put to bulk up in the off season. What
that means for EP four? All right, and I'll tell
you what the poll question I believe is going to
(14:05):
focus on the story from yesterday that career Caprisov turned
down an eight year deal sixteen million per turned it
down would have been the richest contract in National Hockey
League history, both in AAV and total money. So we'll
connect Quinn Hughes to that. DTMZ is it just me
(14:26):
coming up in the eleven o'clock hour Just after eleven
o'clock Look who we've got as a guest.
Speaker 4 (14:33):
Scottie Bowman.
Speaker 3 (14:34):
Scottie Bowman, Scott.
Speaker 4 (14:36):
I love Scottie Bowman.
Speaker 3 (14:37):
Yeah, so we recorded that interview. He turns ninety two
next week, and the facts and the figures that he
reels off turning ninety memory.
Speaker 4 (14:50):
Memory store racist.
Speaker 3 (14:51):
I'd love talking to him. He's just absolutely wonderful and
what a coach. Big ride quit a guy coming up
later this hour again, we'll introduce the pull question in
a bit here. But up next, Farhand Longy from tsn
BC Lions and Farhan has been traveling around NFL. G
went to two of them last week. What a week
(15:12):
one it was in the National Football League. Allions ever
rematch with Ottawa on Friday. We'll talk to Farhan about that,
throwing some hockey with Farhand. He's next. Thanks so much

for doing this their How are.
Speaker 8 (16:56):
You I am good. It was a fun trip. You know,
it put some miles on you. But you know I'm
not I'm not Don Taylor where I can't handle a
five day work week, so I got to scale back
to four.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
Okay, yeah, so you.
Speaker 6 (17:09):
Know like that, that's that's what's happened. Like I'm flying
all over the place at my advanced stage. But you
can't handle a five day work week?
Speaker 3 (17:15):
Got Pratt told me back in the day when the
two of you were working together, you put in a
two day work week. But that's just Dave.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
I believe Pratt.
Speaker 6 (17:23):
Yeah, I bet you do. I bet you do. Hey,
good old days.
Speaker 3 (17:27):
As it were. Oh okay, that was fun and I cad.
Of course, I know you worked very very hard.
Speaker 8 (17:31):
Me not saying, you know what, you should have got
me to fill in on Fridays. I would have done
a way better job than Henderson. I would have like
I would have been poking Dolly wall like right next
to him for two straight hours. How much fun would
that be that I could just get on Dolly's nerves.
Speaker 6 (17:44):
For two hours?
Speaker 3 (17:45):
You know, we know how much you charge. It's just
not gonna happens there, you go, It's it's not going
to happen, Hey, Monday, just your thoughts on the performances
turn tuned in, Turned in rather by Caleb Williams and
JJ McCarthy. Great start for Williams, great finish for McCarthy.
To the young quarterbacks of the National Football League.
Speaker 8 (18:08):
Yeah, you know, I think in the case of Caleb Williams,
it just shows that there's just so many more questions
about him, and a lot of the same questions we
had last year.
Speaker 6 (18:15):
He made some.
Speaker 8 (18:15):
Big time throws and then missed some absolute easy ones,
and I think if you're Ben Johnson, his head coach,
and you spend so much time trying to work on
things like his body language and his footwork, like you
got to at least be able to hit the free throws, right,
I mean, that's kind of the equivalent. Some of the
throws he was missing were simple throws. You gotta be
able to hit those. And he started out so well,
(18:36):
you know, you kind of thought, oh, the coaching's taken
a hold here and it's had an impact, and then
in the second half things go bad and now we
see some of the body language things again as well.
So I think there's as many questions as there were
going into that, and I don't think you throw the
baby out with the bathwater. I think he's got a
ton of talent and I want to see more before
I write him off, but I'd be concerned. And then
(18:59):
on the other side, McCarthy is kind of who he
thought he was right. He's a young kid, only twenty
two years old, and he's just unflappable. So, you know,
did he have I don't think he had a lot
of rookie moments. In the first half when things weren't
going well for that offense, he looked calm. He was
able to audible and get him into the right protections.
Most of the time, he didn't see a lot of
delay of games. You know, there was one after the
interception that he threw, But for the most part, I
(19:20):
thought the game didn't look like it was too big
for him.
Speaker 6 (19:23):
And then in the fourth quarter when it mattered, the
kids shined.
Speaker 8 (19:25):
And let me tell you something, I am a massive
Michigan hater, right like, I can't stand Michigan football.
Speaker 6 (19:33):
They're cheaters.
Speaker 8 (19:34):
I don't like them. I want them to lose. I'm
a Washington guy, all of it. So National Championship two
years ago Michigan and Washington are playing and I'm there
covering it, which is like the one time in my
career I've been conflicted, you know, between work and fandom.
Speaker 6 (19:47):
Only time in my career.
Speaker 8 (19:49):
So I go there and I'm scheduled one on one
with McCarthy, but the location where we're supposed to go
to isn't set for us yet. So we're sitting there
together for about ten or fifteen minutes talking just he
and I and I left that conversation thinking there is
absolutely no way you can hate this kid, like he
(20:10):
was awesome just to be around, in his positivity and
his energy and the fact that he's paired with Kevin O'Connell, who's,
you know, the ultimate coach like I think he is
such a player's coach and a brilliant offensive mastermind.
Speaker 6 (20:22):
You couldn't get a better like Caleb Williams want to
go to Minnesota.
Speaker 8 (20:25):
I know it's a long answer, but that marriage is
gonna be awesome, That rosters loaded.
Speaker 6 (20:30):
McCarthy's in a great situation and he's going to.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
Succeed far and let's go to the BC Lions. A
lot of heat on Mike Benavide's But is this a
situation from you, nah, stop it. Yes, Mike's a good
pal of mine. Stop He's a good guy. But listen,
is it the scheming of the coaches or is it
the lack of talent on defense? Which one is it
that is causing this team, which scores thirty points a game,
(20:56):
to keep losing.
Speaker 8 (20:58):
I think the majority of it is talent, and not
everywhere across the board. I think they've got some talent
on the defensive side, but specifically, their halfback situation is
a massive problem. And so it's like, you know, they're
they're plugging holes with their thumb and they're trying they're
trying to, you know, rearrange the deck chairs on the
Titanic back there. So this week, Robert Carter, twenty two
year old, who's had a really good rookie season, we'll
(21:18):
move back from corner to half back, which is probably,
you know, decent, a decent option. Cam Stone, who spent
most of his time on the practice roster, comes in
a corner, you know, but then you got Kent on
the other side, who's kind of had some challenges. And
if you know, you put Deontay Williams there, he's a
much better Nickel than he has a half back, so
you're hurting yourself in two spots. So I think that's
the biggest issue. The halfback spot has been a big
(21:38):
problem for this team, and it gets exposed weekly.
Speaker 6 (21:41):
I think the pass rush, which.
Speaker 8 (21:43):
Looks so much better against Ottawa, had some challenges before
that to be consistent, and here they are this week.
They're gonna wind up playing two players in a three
man rotation alongside Matthew Betts, and those players weren't even
in the CFL two weeks ago. One of them's been
off the buts for two days and he's gonna play.
The other one got off the bus in the middle
of last week. So it's a challenging situation for Mike.
(22:04):
But have there been moments in games where the calls
could have been a little better. Where there moments maybe
prior to last week, where maybe they were a little
too complex for a young group. You know, I do
think that there's always a bit of both. But if
I were handicapping it, I would probably say it's a
eighty percent plus talent issue.
Speaker 4 (22:22):
You got the best quarterback in the CFL, you got
a great running back, you got great receivers, they're putting
up thirty plus points. I mean, if I was Nathan Rourke,
I'd be pissed right now. He's doing his.
Speaker 8 (22:33):
Job, yeah, you know, and if you're Nathan, you should be.
But at the same time, Nathan's also taking a level
of accountability, right. I mean, he overthrows Jason mcinnesson the
end or Justin mckinnison the end zone. He threw an
interception in the red zone. So there were moments in
that game that Nathan could have been better. But unfortunately
for Nathan, you've got zero margin for air. You can't
make those mistakes. Because another quarterback might be able to
(22:54):
overcome those mistakes, Nathan just can't because the defense isn't
good enough and it's not doing it it's part right.
And if it is doing it's part for three quarters
like it did against Ottawa last week, like it did
at home against Hamilton a month ago, but then in
the fourth quarter they don't right.
Speaker 6 (23:09):
So it's it's.
Speaker 8 (23:11):
Tough because even when it looks good in critical moments,
I think there's a lack of confidence there that shows
and it becomes hard to coordinate around that.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
Hey, let's get back to the NFL for a second
for him. We didn't talk about the Seahawks. I don't
know how much you focused on this, but Sam Darnod's
Seattle debut and the loss to San Francisco.
Speaker 6 (23:29):
Yeah, you know, I thought Donald did some good things.
Speaker 8 (23:31):
And basically right now he's being asked to be a
game manager because when he was in Minnesota, he had
Kevin O'Connell, like I mentioned, who's a savant, and he
also had a loaded offensive cast around him. So you
look at a Seattle team and they've improved on the
offensive line, they got a problem with receiver outside of
Jackson Smith and Jigmack. They need some other pieces there.
And then the running game, which looks so good in
(23:53):
the preseason, and I know it's only preseason. The running
game was concerning, right, I mean, they got to get
that figured out because it's a team that was built
on that.
Speaker 6 (24:00):
That's the ability to play action around that.
Speaker 8 (24:02):
And if you can't run the football effectively, it's going
to expose the problems you have at receiver if it's
got to be a past first group. So you know, defensively,
I was disappointed with Rik Woollen at the corner in
the critical times in the in the last couple of drives.
Speaker 6 (24:17):
Nicki Minuora, who got.
Speaker 8 (24:18):
Hurt early in this game, I thought was going to
be an absolute monster as a rookie. I thought he
was going to be a front runner for defensive Rookie
of the Year. So they lose those two pieces. I
think their d is still going to be fine, but
offensively you better have more than Jackson Smith and Jigba
going on either a run game or some other options
at receiver, or they might have some challenges.
Speaker 3 (24:36):
Your new Wes Salmon bellies one went away from Waite
clinching the Man Cup Queens Park Arena. Is is it
not a bucket list to sports venue for especially with
an event like that.
Speaker 8 (24:46):
Yeah, you know, it was some of the coolest moments
of you know, my last decade when my son was
you know, even younger and he grew up playing lacrosse
and hockey at Queen's Park Arena. I mean, those were
some great, great times. You're right, it's a fantastic barn.
Speaker 3 (25:01):
You know.
Speaker 8 (25:01):
And if you're I know, for you you probably remember
that the nineteen seventies with any Punch McLain going to games,
then with Barry Beck and Stan Smeil, and Kurt Fraser's
junior hockey players.
Speaker 6 (25:11):
So it's it's a great place.
Speaker 8 (25:14):
And unfortunately, you know, there was some unruly behavior there
by some fans after Game four and you don't like that,
but I know they dealt with it, and Game five.
Speaker 6 (25:21):
Was a little cleaner from that perspective.
Speaker 8 (25:24):
But you know, you play those Ontario teams and they
come out here like I had a buddy of mine
who one of our senior producers at TSN whose kids
involved in all cross back there and he's like, oh,
six six Nations is a wagon. You can't touch them. Well,
the bellies have done pretty good. They if it gets
to a game seven.
Speaker 1 (25:38):
I'll be there.
Speaker 8 (25:38):
I'll be at the Lions the game on Friday, but
hopefully the home team can get it done on Friday
and we don't have to worry about a game seven.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
Thanks for a hand, appreciate it. We'll talk to you
next week.
Speaker 8 (25:47):
Rick, you dodged a bullet by not having me in
on Fridays.
Speaker 4 (25:50):
Not my call, Not my call. Yeah, there's a pecking
order here. It starts over here. You've already got four
jobs at the media.
Speaker 6 (26:00):
Welcome back.
Speaker 8 (26:01):
I know you guys have to kick your feet up summer,
so let's let's go.
Speaker 6 (26:05):
Let's roll.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
You're ready on five hundred podcasts a year. Any thanks
for ad see boys again.
Speaker 3 (26:15):
I know I talk about this a lot, but like
my lacrosse US six Nations, tonight, US can wrap up
the Man Cup and don't forget about that Lions game
tomorrow against thought about the Remax and the white Caps
play Philadelphia.
Speaker 4 (26:27):
On Saturday weekend coming out at BC Place.
Speaker 3 (26:30):
Lots of fun. Okay, poll question, we finally figured it out.
It's next? Will introduce it? Donny delight the team? I check.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
The Vancouver Giants are celebrating their twenty fifth anniversary season
at the leec. Fans can check out a variety of
experiences all season long, including the unveiling of the top
twenty five players of all time. On the ice, you
can watch the electrifying play job Dallas Stars draft pick
and forty goal scorer Cameron Schmid, Islanders draft pick Burke
(27:01):
Hold will lead the team in the crease, and plus
follow the progress of NHL draft eligible defenseman Ryan Lynn.

dollars of pop or group tickets were as low as
twenty dollars per seed in quantities of eight or more.

Speaker 3 (27:30):
I gotta say this new generic music you have, oh,
is quite good. It's good vibe.
Speaker 4 (27:37):
I don't mind it.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
I wor you.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
I was worried you would think this is too soft,
stress free.
Speaker 3 (27:44):
And we can't play the hits. We can't play a
lot of them.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
No we yeah, copyrights all that, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (27:53):
No one cares. Okay, Moving on whole question, We finally
figured one out. Wadling god pull question experience one of
Victoria's iconic destinations, the dog, sleep, sip, and stock up,
all in one legendary spot. Come sit and stay at
the dog today, Rick, and this pole question has to
(28:14):
do with Quinn Hughes and who's in the news these
days and yesterday's big NHL story, one of the big
stories career Caprice. So turning down the Minnesota Wilds offer
generous offer eight years, sixteen million per Keep in mind
that Quinn Hughes contract ends in a couple of years.
Speaker 4 (28:36):
And they're not done in Minnesota. Just because he rejected that,
they're still talking. Bill Garon said last night, we're still talking.
We're gonna get that deal done done, Ryan, get her up.
The waddling dog. Poll question Quinn Hughes. Is he worth
sixty million dollars per season? Yes or no? Eighty six
percent say yes, fourteen percent say no, three hundred and
(28:56):
thirty two votes. Already it's hopping, it's popping, it's not stopping.
And so these all these young kids are getting big bucks, right, Donny.
And so here's the problem. So you get sixteen, seventeen,
eighteen million, how are you building around? Look at Florida.
The CAP's gonna go up, the caps going, Donny. Look
at Florida. Who took less? Sam Bennett took less, Marshat,
(29:17):
Sam Reinhart, the North Vancouver kid. If these guys would
have hit July first, they would have got way more.
So you take less, you still get a good fee.
You take less to win. And look at the way
so many guys in Florida took less to win. They
won two Cups in a row.
Speaker 3 (29:32):
Yeah, yeah, but I you know, there's no surprise. We're
in Vancouver. Kind of crazy. That yes is destroying He
earns it in this book. He's earned it done. He's
easily going to get sixteen millions. Cale mccar's up in
two years. Cale mccarr is the guy to keep an
eye on for defenseman and future contract. He's going to
(29:55):
hit it out of the ballpark.
Speaker 4 (29:56):
It's gonna be a.
Speaker 3 (29:56):
Would he not get more that he would give more?
And they don't mean that as it is sult Quinn
used he's got a Soley Cup. Yeah, and he's got
a couple of Norris as a con smythe as well.
Speaker 4 (30:06):
I'm sorry, but Cale McCarry is going to get more
than Quinn. He's up in two years, by the way,
Cale McCarry.
Speaker 3 (30:11):
Yeah, it just yeah, I mean, you look at other sports,
it shouldn't come as any surprise at all, but sixteen million.
Connor mcdavi's making twelve and a half this year, and
just like, what a jump that is and how much
how much we wondered about the eleven point six million
dollars a season that Elias Petterson is making. It might,
(30:32):
it might depending on performance. Peenotz down the road, Down
the road, Ryan Johnson.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
Rick, Okay, so what I want to say is that
when your American Hockey League team wins the Calder Cup,
like the Vancouver Canucks team did in avesburd We know
teams were impressed with Maddy Mooltter because his name popped
up in some coaching vacancies. But he's got one year
left on his deal. But I'm also hearing the teams
were just as impressed with Abasbord GM Ryan Johnson. It
(31:01):
might be in the Canuck's best interest to sign Johnson
long term. He's going to be an NHL GM someday.
Some think the Canucks are worried about losing this guy someday.
They like him a lot. By the way, the Canucks
like him a lot. You very rarely hear a bad
word said about Johnson. He goes about his business quietly,
treats his players with respect, works with him through their
(31:21):
ups and downs in the miners the NHL. When Jim
Rutherford arrived in Vancouver, he leaned on Johnson a lot.
Johnson has been with the Canucks since twenty thirteen, player
development twenty sixteen. He has been here a long time.
People have noticed his work. I'm just saying to you
it's not a surprise that Johnson is looked at around
(31:42):
the league. Donnie is one of the up and comers
for a GM job someday. Don't be surprised if he
gets one.
Speaker 3 (31:49):
Whenever we've had him on the show, whenever you see
him talk anywhere any media outlet, he is very very impressive.
Not that that's the be all and end all, but
you add that to winning the Call to the Cup,
helping Abbotsford win it helps called the Cup, it helps
last year. I love the way. I love the way
(32:11):
his career unfolded. Remember what he what he was known for, blockhots,
blocking shots as a forward, and he would get hurt
and he played the short time with the connection. He
would get hurt left and right, and he would still
go out there and do whatever it takes to keep
a job. And as a general manager, you know, players
(32:32):
can look at that and hear about his career and like,
what an example that is. Whatever it takes to win,
whatever it takes to keep a job. Players want, players
want to hear that, right because you know you're not
going to scroll like he did. Not everybody's going to
scroll like they did in minor. How did you keep
a job?
Speaker 1 (32:48):
Do whatever it takes?
Speaker 3 (32:49):
I love that. I love that. That story really intelligent
and you're right, how can you not notice him after
what they did last year and how well he comes
across in public Abitsford.
Speaker 4 (32:59):
One of the best moves the Canucks did was get
the hell out of Utica and get into Absberg. I
know why they liked Utica. You know, it's got a
hockey feel, the weather, don there's no plane travel. You
go play a game, well support it, Yeah, and you
come back to sleep and more practice time. Yeah. All
that I get why you to come made sense. But
since they've come to Absburg and then they've added the
(33:21):
Sadeen Twins, if I had a penny for every time
I've talked to an agent who said to me, I
want my guy in Absburg because of the Sadeen Twins.
Speaker 3 (33:31):
It wouldn't be working here.
Speaker 4 (33:33):
The Sadeen Twins and the job they do. I don't
think they get enough credit for what they do in avisperg.
They do a tremendous job down there.
Speaker 3 (33:41):
Okay, let's get back to quit. He was for a
second here. He was the focus of our poll question
and much of the focus of our first segment on
this show. We mentioned the interview he did. I believe
it was yesterday thirty two Thoughts podcast with Elliott and Kyle.
So he did that interview and we heard in the
(34:02):
first segment how he more than hinted at this that
his decision to stay in Vancouver a lot of it
will be based on how the team does this coming season.
So that was the gist of that answer. He also
went on to talk about and this is the third clip.
I believe, guys, he also want on to talk about
(34:26):
LEAs Petterson and the fact that he bulked up in
the summer in the offseason thirteen pounds six keylers, just
over thirteen pounds. So here is Quinn Hughes on his
friend Eleas Petterson, his teammate Lias Petterson, putting on thirteen
pounds in the offseason.
Speaker 5 (34:46):
I don't care if he came five pounds lighter or
five pounds heavier. I think like he's a gifted part
and we're very similar, guys. I think he grew up
and was really underside and I had to rely on
his brain and I was similar to that. And I
think he sees the game in a special way. I mean,
(35:09):
not gonna lie. I think that all the nonsense last
year weighed on him heavily from a personal standpoint and
a professional standpoint. And you know, no one wants to
deal with that. You can make an argument that you
have to find a way to perform through through that
as well. But he's a really competitive person. I've said
(35:33):
it a bunch of times that I don't think he
gets to his level without having some ingredients inside you.
And I've seen them before. So I expect him to
have a great year because I just think he's a
really good player.
Speaker 3 (35:46):
Quinn, he was all the confidence in the world, at
least publicly when it comes to a bounce back season
for LEAs Peterson his his season, and yet there were
injury issues last year, and we know about the tend
nights last off he's talked about that one thing that
I find quite worriesome off. I'm a knock fan about
(36:06):
boat last season. Well, there's more than one thing obviously.
You know, forty five points in sixty four games isn't
good enough to well respected head coach, talking about him
not moving his feet enough, things like that big, big contract,
not not earning that money. But a lot of people
don't talk about this, and that's his performance at the
Four Nations yep, And a lot of the complaints from
(36:31):
Knuck fans during last season was well, you're not putting
you're not giving him good will you. You talked about
it a lot, Well, who are his wingers? He's not
being given enough. He goes to the Four Nations, he's
playing with some very good UH players and nothing happens there,
and he as the tournament wore on, he got less
and less ice time dropped in the line. So that
(36:51):
was that. That was concerning on the positive side for
Elias Petterson. And you know, Rick, it almost seems like
right after he signed that contract things things started going downhill.
You put a lot of pressure on him, as a
matter of fact. But he did get eighty nine points
in eighty two games the season before last, And yet
now I know, and he dropped off after January, and
(37:13):
it's he got one goal in thirteen playoff games, but
eighty nine points in eighty two games. I think that
that happens again, people would probably be pretty happy. I
think pretty pretty happy. I think that total. And again
I know the second half was not great, but that
total might surprise a lot of people. So it wasn't
that long ago that he was a pretty good player.
(37:34):
That he was.
Speaker 4 (37:35):
He was in a real effective player, absolutely here we go.
He's healthy points wise anyway, Donny, no excuses, he's healthy. JT.
Miller doesn't live here anymore, all right, So okay those
two things right there.
Speaker 3 (37:47):
Should we see a better Betterson? Yes, right there, I'd
love to see. I'm with you with I'd love to
see Kane on his left side at least the start.
Speaker 4 (37:55):
I'd be shocked if Evander kyines that's nothing against Jake Debrosk,
who had a very good season last year.
Speaker 3 (38:01):
Goal that Ying and Yang different styles would be would
be better. I worry about the speed with the Canucks.
But we'll see what happens with that top six. But
there's just so much there. It's just such a mystery
with the LEAs Petterson and part of the well if
it's part of the mystery, but part part of the
solution or one of the solutions ones supposedly for him
to bow cup and gets stronger and apparently.
Speaker 4 (38:22):
Has Yeah, well you heard Quinn. Quinn doesn't think much
of the weight. Yeah, he's under quin didn't y way,
you're right, I said that the other day. I don't
care about his weight. He he scored two hundred points
in two years at lesser weight. It's between the Ears
and Quinn just told you the same.
Speaker 3 (38:38):
Yeah, players do have off season and a team of
Solanni having some Really.
Speaker 4 (38:43):
Hughes is not six coming back, Quinn. Hughes is not
six four two twenty. He does quite fine at his weight.
Speaker 3 (38:48):
Yeah, Okay, uh, probably Scotty Bowman far Hen just joined us.
Scotty Bowman is going to join us at the top
of the show. Big Rye is next. I've got some
business and then we'll take a break on Wednesday.
Speaker 1 (39:02):
Is this the right read?
Speaker 3 (39:03):
Ryan? There we go. We got pictures today. On Wednesday,
Abel Auctions will sell the contents of an equipment rental company,
hundreds of pieces of outdoor construction and landscape equipment of
twenty twenty three Peter built highway tractor with only five
thousand k rick oh a twenty twenty two Ford F

point fifty pickup. Got my wires crossed there? Thirty brand
new they will bring on a five thirty one day

you know what a snowmobile is. I'll tell you what
a snowmobile is. Yeah, it's a great workout. I did
(39:45):
it a couple of times up north.
Speaker 4 (39:46):
Did you you I sat in one on the back.
Speaker 3 (39:50):
Was it moving?
Speaker 4 (39:51):
My buddy Danny was driving. We're on Charlie Lake. It
was frozen. It was great.
Speaker 3 (39:54):
Okay, Yeah, A brand new outboard motorist John dear Bo

innomation on this for information rather on this massive equipment
rental company auction, go to able Auctions dot, c A
B l A Auctions Dot. See a Scottie Top of
the hour, Big rye next Donnie Day the team. I
(40:16):
check just I had a big rye the Twitter guy.
Here's some interesting news in the broadcast world. We just
found out that Ray Ferraro is going to work as
an analyst for the La Kinks.
Speaker 4 (40:33):
Wow, this is news time.
Speaker 3 (40:35):
So we don't know what's happening with Ray's relationship with
sports and the Canucks and obviously still at ESPN. His
brother in law, Tony Grenado also working as an analyst.
But Ray works very hard and I'm not sure again
if it means it's an he's leaving the Canucks or
I'm telling you one guy who would be able to
(40:57):
do all of that is is Ray. But interesting he's
joined the La Kings broadcast.
Speaker 4 (41:02):
We need more Ray on Canucks, not less Big Ryan.
Speaker 1 (41:07):
The other interesting note there is John Kelly, the play
by play voice of the Blues who got let go
in the off season.
Speaker 3 (41:14):
He is now the play by play voice of the
Kings TV, family Time Television associated with the Blues.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
People should just calm down a little. There's a lot
of panic about Ray. He might be doing very select
Kings games, like let's just see how small it could be,
like four or five games, like I mean, who knows, right,
I mean they're listing them, but let's just wait and
see how that goes. If there's one thing Ray hates,
he hates speculation about him. I ain't going to do it. Okay,
(41:42):
very quickly. Yesterday Memory showed those two Donning Dolly viewers
in Taiwan, Kevin and Brent. Brent to Brett anyway, we
got this though. This is friends with an N Yeah,
I understand that. Thank you. This is from Dave Hey
from Okay, Yama, Japan enjoyed the big rise shadow from Taiwan.
(42:05):
There are there are Vancouver, Victoria, BC folks scattered all
over the world, and Dannie only gives us a welcome
connection to sports past and president as well as last
Here's my me, my wife and kid Ichiro Stanley Olsen
in okay, y, I'm a japan big D and D fans.
We are literally a global brand. We are a Nike
(42:25):
and US Yeah, all over the world. And one of
these days I will start that pin map. We'll put
little D and D flags wherever we've been spotted. We
could have that maybe behind me or something.
Speaker 3 (42:36):
But like a real and I don't want to see anything,
you know, computer generator. I want to see yeah, old school,
like a pin map.
Speaker 4 (42:44):
Yes, get on it.
Speaker 1 (42:46):
By the way, sources close by the way, they're telling
me that Ray is just doing a handful of Kings games,
but he'll still be involved with the connections.
Speaker 4 (42:53):
Yeah, so just a handful of Kings games.
Speaker 1 (42:55):
It's just calm down, Okay. Speaking of of the NHL,
how about this. This is something that's been talked about
for a while. That or I shouldn't been talked about
for a while, but fans have been clamoring for a while,
and that is a return to paper tickets.
Speaker 3 (43:11):
Oh, it's about time.
Speaker 1 (43:13):
The Washington Capitals have announced season ticket holders are going
to be able to get collectible paper tickets for all
forty one home games starting this season. So you'll still
have the opportunity to do mobile tickets if that's what
you prefer. Love this, but if you would like a
collectible ticket, and maybe it'll be maybe it'd be like
per game, like the design changes. If it's crossed as
(43:34):
a season, as a season ticket older, you have the
option or you get both. I think you have the option.
I don't know if you'll necessarily be able to get both.
Speaker 3 (43:42):
I take the paper.
Speaker 1 (43:43):
I would take the paper as well.
Speaker 3 (43:45):
There's one more step you need to take, but go ahead.
Speaker 1 (43:47):
Well, especially for season ticket holders, because when you would
get that big book of tickets back in the day,
you'd be able to go through and you see all
the logos, and again if you might have theme nights
or specialty games or whatever, you have different tickets. And
so there's a cool collectible. And in fact, one of
the bigger sports collectibles going on the market are these
paper tickets from big debuts, big games, big moments that
(44:10):
have happened. Usually niche games also be quite valuable. You know,
the Bartman game for instance, that would be a really
valuable ticket or whatever in the sports world. So the
Washington Capitals are deciding to go back to paper tickets.
Speaker 3 (44:23):
Now what has to happen is hearkening back to the
past whenever there's a big event or big concert, you know,
forget about this thing with the bots and you know,
like you did it yesterday with what were you trying
to get World Cup tickets?
Speaker 1 (44:37):
Trying to get into the draw.
Speaker 3 (44:38):
Let's get back to the old days where people camped
out and you know at the stadium in the box office,
right ah, Canucks, you know, wind up down the bo tents.
You know, people people socializing, having fun. Let's get back
to those days.
Speaker 1 (44:52):
So two things with that. I have advocated less cheating.
I'll tell you that I've advocated for that. For bigger
concert like the really big shows like Oasis or take
their Swift or whatever, like really big shows, I've advocated
that it goes back to that. However, it's also the
world is the smallest place now and people like to
travel for shows and do whatever, and so there's a
(45:14):
lot of people that you would.
Speaker 3 (45:15):
Become come up from Portland or wherever. Yeah, okay, and
camp out at Rogers Arena.
Speaker 1 (45:21):
Sure, I know people that went over to see Oasis
in Europe. So how are they doing that where they're
gonna go over stand out line back on the flight,
come home, go back. Yeah, it would You're right though,
it would squash the bots. That would be the end
of the bots because obviously there'd be no option to
do it online. So there are.
Speaker 3 (45:38):
Flaws, yeah my idea.
Speaker 1 (45:40):
Yeah, but this is a this is a good step
for the capitals. I like this that they're going back
to the paper tickets because again, it's a collect I
have at home two books of tickets from like all
of the events I've gone to before that got phased
out during COVID and now it's just all you know,
your mobile phone. That's all it is.
Speaker 3 (45:57):
What No, nothing I do.
Speaker 1 (45:59):
I have all of them first concert NERD Alert. Again,
it's like a collectible thing, like you used to.
Speaker 4 (46:06):
Keep lines in White Cats, Yeah, tickets for years in
the eighties.
Speaker 3 (46:09):
I've kept my press passes press.
Speaker 1 (46:11):
That's one of the cool things we get to have
because again, it's like the only collectible now because everything's
on your phone when it comes to ticket you know,
I hate that.
Speaker 3 (46:20):
Yeah, you know my wife and I did speaking of
we and I'm glad we did this. We have old
school photo albums of our kids.
Speaker 1 (46:26):
Yeah, well you and Derek are talking about that the
other day. What is it the first kid gets five
and the second kid doesn't get.
Speaker 3 (46:32):
Very true about it. Yeah, and the third kid got
a sketch.
Speaker 1 (46:36):
The one thing I was saying though, like now, with
the photos, you do have the ability to like push
them to like a digital frame or whatever. That's what
we have. We have a digital frame in our living rooms.
It just rotates through photos. How often do you go
and crack open.
Speaker 3 (46:51):
Those photo albums all the time? Yeah?
Speaker 1 (46:54):
Right, sit on a dusty shelf.
Speaker 4 (46:58):
No, you got photo in your cell phone now? Two three,
four hundred. It's hard to go back to the album.
Speaker 1 (47:04):
Yeah, there's something.
Speaker 3 (47:04):
No, no, it's not. It's actually quite easy. Everybody talks
about you just talk about the tickets. Everybody talks about,
you know, old school albums. How cool it's like a
piece of art. They are.
Speaker 1 (47:16):
It also has something to do with the photos, because
photos were better when they were on a camera as well.
Oh no question, yeah, okay, very quickly, because we do
have to get the Scotti boe. But I know you
guys are gonna appreciate this. I don't know if you

Speaker 3 (48:04):
Maybe? But that isn't the font on the numbers?
Speaker 4 (48:08):
The exposed hats were the best, they really were.
Speaker 1 (48:11):
The bottom line is this very cool watch for somebody

much for doing this, sir.
Speaker 6 (50:11):
How are you well?
Speaker 9 (50:13):
Pretty good?
Speaker 3 (50:13):
Thank you ninety two years old. Next, what's the secret
to longevity? Scotty?
Speaker 10 (50:20):
Well, I guess I keep pretty busy. I try to,
and you know, I've had a good, good stretch here
in the summer and I go I go to Florida
for maybe seven months starting in October, so and then
I sort of I'm on the West coast, so I
see a lot of the Lightning Games if I can.
(50:41):
They've had a good run, as you know, the last
five years, and in contention, last year was a quick exit.
But they have the nucleus of one of the better
teams I think in the East for sure.
Speaker 3 (50:55):
Scotty, I hate to hate to bring this up, but
you lost your goaltender recently. Just your reaction to the
passing of the late Great Ken Dryden, Well, it.
Speaker 10 (51:05):
Was so sad because of a surprise element. I mean,
you know, we didn't no idea that Ken wasn't doing well.
I had talked with him the last time, it was
probably early July, and he had the last few times
I spoke with him, he spent a lot of time
in Boston because his daughter Sarah and his son Michael,
(51:29):
they went to school around there and they made their
homes there, so his grand grandchildren were there. And I
never made anything out of it that he was spending
so much time there.
Speaker 9 (51:40):
But I have no idea, but he wanted to be
with the family.
Speaker 10 (51:43):
And I guess, as it turned out, he had been.
I don't know how sick he was, but he had
he had some knowledge that he he was in quite
a battle and he passed away, as you said about over.
Speaker 9 (51:57):
Speaker 3 (51:58):
What was he like to coach Guy?
Speaker 10 (52:01):
Well, you know, when I was in Montreal, we didn't
have a goalie coach. Nobody did, and the goalies kind
of went on their own, so I didn't have a
lot of goalie experience with Ken. I had some other
other circumstances that you would talk to all the players about,
and he was a very busy person, even the year
(52:25):
that I went there, in the seventy one seventy two,
and then the next year we won the cup, and
just one little sidebar. We used to practice every day
at ten o'clock, no matter if we played the night
before or not. So I think it was about mid seventies.
I decided, well, it's kind of foolish to be practicing
(52:46):
so early, and the traffic was getting on in the morning,
so I moved it to twelve noon. The players kind
of thought it was a good idea, you know, they
had to rest a little bit in the morning. So
and then one I fear about maybe a couple of weeks,
Ken came in and said, is this going to happen?
Is this going to be like all year? And I said, well,
(53:07):
so far, everybody thinks it's at the right time. And
I said, you have an issue. He said, well, no,
I'll have to make I'll have to change my life
around a little bit.
Speaker 9 (53:18):
I said, well, he said.
Speaker 10 (53:19):
Well, you know, I used to leave the building about
eleven thirty because we had an hour of practices. And
then he said I had a lot of stuff to do.
I think he was taking some courses at the time,
and so I said, well, you know, I could change it. No, no,
he said, I can easily. I'll just make arrangements. But
I just want to know if it's going to if
(53:39):
you're going to do it the rest of the year.
I said, I would think the answer right now is yes,
you know. And then another occasion, it would probably have
been the year we lost eight games. We only lost
one game in the forum on Halloween night, and I
imagine he was playing. We had another goalie, Michelle. We
(54:01):
drafted him and the six pick in nineteen seventy two,
and so he became a very good He got the
backup job for sure. He played between twenty and twenty
five games every year. And one of the years it
had to be around February, and Michelle l Rock was
(54:21):
playing most of the home games, and I started a pattern.
We were winning, of course at home, and we were
also winning on the road. Ken was playing on the
road the away games and was working out perfect And
then about three weeks before the end of the season,
he came into my office. He said, you know, I
want to ask you something, Scotty. I mean, I don't
(54:44):
know if I'm probably going to be you know, he said,
I assume I'm going to start the playoff series in
about three weeks. He said, is there any chance I
can get in a home game in the forum? I
haven't played for six weeks at home, and I didn't.
I didn't know anything about it.
Speaker 9 (55:04):
I do about it. I wasn't doing anything at touch.
Speaker 3 (55:07):
Oh.
Speaker 10 (55:07):
Absolutely, we got three home three or four home games left.
I got to get you in at least a couple
of them. But we were so far ahead of the
other teams that it just was a plan that I
was working on. I wasn't thinking, you know, he was
always thinking yeah, way he uh. And when I think
back of his goaltending, you know, he never stressed out
(55:28):
about I don't think he did a lot of thinking
about goaltending, because you know, he was a big guy,
and I know that he had a lot of things
to do. But he liked the practice he did. He
didn't want to ever miss practicing. Some goalies do, but
he wanted he look forward to the practices and then
also he wanted to play as many games he did get.
(55:50):
He did have a back issue most januaries, about halfway
through the season. We would give him a couple of
weeks rest. There wasn't anything serious. Rest wouldn't take care of.
So that's about the only time I ever was concerned
that he wasn't going to play. And anyways, that's that's
the story about Ken, is that he he had a
(56:14):
lot of things on his plate, but he didn't. I
don't think he's stressed out about the goaltending. You know,
it was a good team, he was a good goalie.
What he did in nineteen seventy one playoffs, to me,
it was the I guess when you look at his career,
(56:34):
that was the team that wasn't the strongest team, and
yet he won the Stanley Cup in the Console Mike
Trophy before he even played a regular season in the
in the in the league, so he had a lot
of plan.
Speaker 4 (56:48):
Hey, Scotty, would love to get your thoughts on the
Canucks bad season last year, Millard Peterson feud. They didn't
make the playoffs. They did add Evander Kaine, Scotty, what
do you thinking about Vancouver heading into the season.
Speaker 10 (57:03):
Well, you know, I think the big thing I know
Rick Talking. I had Rick as a player. He meant
a lot to our team in Pittsburgh. We had a
very good team the second year, even after winning the
first Cup, but we needed we needed something with a
little bit of an edge. And that trade that we
(57:23):
pulled off and we got Rick Talking, he changed our team.
You know, we we we had a very skillful team.
We weren't really over aggressive, and but nobody took advantage
of us after we got Rick Talkeett on our team.
And I think what happened with Vancouver, and it's not
(57:44):
the only team that's ever happened to, but I was
totally impressed with Demko as a goaltender and not taking
anything away from the other guys, but they're not They
weren't Demko. And I think that the injury to Demko
being so long and so unknown, I get really hurt
this team because their their defense core was was not
(58:07):
too bad. But you need goaltending and I don't think
they got the when you when you're in a game
and your goalie in your net has got a big edge,
and even going back to Ken Dryden, you see what
comments on the players now, Like I read Robinson and
Evak Cornerway saying every time we got in a playoff series,
we didn't worry about goaltending. We knew we had the
(58:29):
best one. I mean it was a bit of maybe
you could say it's pretty cocky, but it was the
truth too. And I think they hurt. They they really
they lost a hang of a goalie in Demco. Now
then he come back, he didn't play much last year.
When he did play, I think he wasn't one hundred percent. Uh,
you know, they they've got they got the nucleus. Like
(58:51):
you said, they've got some question marks and your top
players have to resume why.
Speaker 9 (58:57):
They became top players.
Speaker 10 (58:59):
And uh, but I think it's going to come down
if he can return ninety of the way he looked,
I think they'll be I think they're in quite a
battle with a lot of teams. I don't I think
that Western side, Like, you know, they're all getting a
little better now. You know, when you think about Los
(59:20):
Angeles is pretty consistent. Anaheim's going to be better. San
Jose's definitely better. You know, Calgary's got the goaltender. Now,
Edmonton still got enough players Evander Kaine will give them
like I don't know if they if they had to
suffer last year, but you need some players that the
(59:41):
other team are unsuspectful what they might do. And he's
he's a pretty He's a Vancouver player, a boy he
came from there. I don't know much about him, but
I just know that, you know, he may have found
his niche because you know, he came off an injury
last year. I thought he played decently for for Edmonton
(01:00:01):
and you know, but maybe with Vancouver he'll have more
of a role and having to go out and he's
a big, strong kid, I mean, and he nobody can
take liberties with him. And I'm sure he's a pretty
good team guy as far as that's concerned.
Speaker 4 (01:00:19):
Scotty Quinn Hughes. Where do you got him ranked as
one of the top defensemen in the NHL?
Speaker 3 (01:00:25):
Who does he remind you?
Speaker 4 (01:00:26):
Evan? How much do you like this guy?
Speaker 10 (01:00:30):
He's I spent a lot of time when Stan was
in Chicago, and I got to know Duncan Keith a lot,
and you know, he's a little different type of player
than Duncan because his offense is so Duncan was a
really good two way defenseman, but he defended well. He
was maybe a little bit more abrasive. But he's so
(01:00:52):
handy at just making those plays that defensemen have to make.
And you know, I think it's skating and puck handling.
If you can skate at at the level that he does,
a lot of people can skate, but.
Speaker 9 (01:01:09):
They don't handle the puck.
Speaker 10 (01:01:10):
And I think that's what makes McDavid so special is
I mean, he does everything, but it's hard to believe
how he can handle the puck at the speed he
goes in And when Hughes is rolling along he sees
the ice, he reminds me if I had to pick one.
But he's got a little bit more puck carry ability.
(01:01:35):
We had a defenseman in Detroit, Nick Litz from that
when he got the puck. The next play we still
had the puck. We kept the puck, And I keep
going back and I look at a player like Hughes,
and when he does get the puck, very seldom does
the other team get it that you have to go
(01:01:56):
back and get it off of them. So that's the
way I describe him. His next play is always to
a teammate he finds guys. The kid in Montreal is
Is is not as big as he is and not
as experienced the Hudson kid. Those players that can maneuver
their feet and maneuver their hands at the same time,
(01:02:18):
they're very elusive. They're hard to I don't know. If
I was playing against Hughes, I would pretty well have
to have somebody as close as close to him as
I could before you get started. And I know it's
not an easy task for one guy. I don't think
it's possible.
Speaker 9 (01:02:38):
But you can't.
Speaker 10 (01:02:39):
You can't try to get him after he's going because
he's going to make the right play. So yeah, he's
a I mean, they're special. Mcar is special. His speed
and his shot and his ability to find people there there.
There's there's a few in the league, but I could
count them on my hand one hand. You know, if
(01:03:02):
you get those kind of defensemen around. We had Lidstrom
for my nine years in Detroit, and my goodness, if
I if I could show you some of the charts
that we had turnovers hardly any and that's a big
asset in the National Hockey League.
Speaker 9 (01:03:20):
If you can hold onto the.
Speaker 3 (01:03:21):
Puck scotty, we could go on and on. This has
just been marvelous. We can't thank you enough. Happy birthday early,
Happy birthday to Scotty. All the best and enjoy the
hockey season.
Speaker 9 (01:03:35):
Thank you very much, look forward to it.
Speaker 3 (01:03:37):
You bet Scotty Bowman winning a National Hockey League coach
and man, he just he's going to be ninety two
next week. I think you listed off every defenseman of
the National Hockey League and I looked it up. He
banging on about Michelle Bunny La Rock sixth overall pick
in nineteen seventy two. He had it all right, ninety
two years old. Next, great Scottie.
Speaker 4 (01:03:58):

from stock Cup all on one legendary spot. Come sit

Quinn Hughes's concurrent contract with the Vancouver Connects. Yesterday Carill
capriceoff turning down a generous offer from the Minnesota Wild
eight years, sixteen million, per richest contract in NHL history,
it would have been he turned it down, so at
(01:05:22):
least our poll question.
Speaker 4 (01:05:23):
An update quickly, Donnie on the capriceof story. There's a
Russian reporter report in the Minnesota Wild have asked Caprichov
for a trade list. So maybe this is going, you know,
in that direction now because they can agree to terms.
So interesting out of Russia report just moments ago. Paul yep,
(01:05:45):
all right, our waddling Dog pop poll question Quinn Hughes
is he worth sixteen million per season? Eighty five percent
say yes, fifteen percent say no. Over eight hundred votes already.
Speaker 3 (01:05:58):
I wonder if the peoples who say no are saying no,
he's not worth sixteen million, he's worth twenty million season.
Speaker 4 (01:06:08):
Look at these salaries and don't even start on Connor McDavid.
If these guys are worth sixteen seventeen, what's he going
to get?
Speaker 3 (01:06:16):
Absolutely? Okay, let's stick with the Quinn Hughes for a
second here. But by the way, what a possibility for
a pole question today? A wattling dog pole question was
you know who would you rather have Caprice for Hughes?
And we thought that was kind of silly because it
would be pretty lopsided in the Vancouver market. Turns out
that this one was pretty lopsided too. Yeah, big time
(01:06:40):
that I'll take here caprisos well over a pointed game player.
Is it is in his career? He's three years older.
Remember we got the late start in the National Hockey League.
Let's stick with the Quinny's. We talked about him doing
several interviews down in Las Vegas as part of the
NHL media tour. One of those interviews, as you found
out earlier in the show, was with the thirty two
(01:07:02):
Thoughts people, Elliott and Kyle our friends friends of the show.
And here is a clip of Quinn Hughes talking about
and this took a lot of people by surprise. I'm
talking about brock Besser re signing with the Vancouver Caducts,
extending with the Vancouver Coducts. But here is Quinn Hughes
and his thoughts on brock Besser, his good friend, and
(01:07:25):
his decision to extend in Vancouver.
Speaker 5 (01:07:28):
He wanted to stay the whole time. Credit to him, like,
this is not a hymn thing. He loves Vancouver, his
girlfriend's from Vancouver, He's got two dogs, he takes some
hiking all the time. He just loves a lifestyle and
he loves the fan base, loves everything about it. Wants
to be a leader on the team for years to come.
(01:07:50):
I think that we both thought he was gone just
because of how late it came down to you. I
remember him calling me like pretty upset that he wasn't
gonna signed there, and I think early that next day
I think they got together again, which he didn't think
was going to happen, and then got it done. So
I was happy for him and us.
Speaker 3 (01:08:12):
Croc Paster returning to the Vancouver Cannucks seven years seven
point two million dollars. It's interesting there. It's well documented
Brock's girlfriend is from Vancouver. But Quinn talked about the
lifestyle in Vancouver, about the you know, the high king
and high hiking with the dogs, and just seems that
he loves everything about Vancouver. And I think a lot
(01:08:35):
of people wonder does Quinn feel the same way.
Speaker 4 (01:08:37):
Yeah, and here's one for you. The Canucks signed American
players Besser, DeMar to contract extension. All three of those
guys informed their agents, we want to resign to Vancouver.
So you got three Americans telling their agents signing Vancouver again,
I don't want to go anywhere else. And we got
this guy who you know, not saying that to his agent,
(01:09:01):
not right now. So I find that to be very interesting.
Besser did not want to leave Garland, instructed his guy
get her down to Vancouver, demp go. His agent talked
to him about possibly leaving as a free agent, just
as you know Asian client talk, and he said, no,
I want to go back to Vancouver. Very interesting that
three Americans wanted to resign to Vancouver and Quinn's not there.
Speaker 3 (01:09:25):
I think that took a lot of people by surprise
because of the term. Well, first of all, the disappointment
of last season and all the turmoil last season, and
those players saying no, no, we're fine. We're better than
you think. We think we're better than you think of
the last year was a blip and we're gonna we're
gonna resign.
Speaker 4 (01:09:43):
And let me say this quickly about Besser July first,
the Canucks' motivation July first was center. They went after
de Vorak, they went after Granlin, and then when they
couldn't get those two guys, shifted over to Besser.
Speaker 3 (01:09:56):
Okay, And by the way, if he didn't hear it earlier,
Quinn Hughes talked with Elliott Friedman and Kyle Pekoskas about
next season and how it's going to play a big,
big part in his decision to extend or not extend
in Vancouver. If it's anything this is what we got
out of it. If it's anything like last season, the
chances of him extending not all that good. I want
(01:10:19):
to we had Tom for this, Ryan, I think we do.
The Edmonton Oilers. This we found out on the interweb
earlier today. They've got a third jersey, a new, old
look third jersey coming out for this season, and it's
been leaked. I don't know if this wasn't from a
factory or a worker getting a shot, or whatever the
(01:10:41):
case may be, or the oilers putting this out themselves
just to see what the reaction would be. But there
it is. That's I gotta say. I'm liking this. You
like it? Oh yeah, as long as that white isn't white,
if it's the creamy color, the vintage cream color, that
would be. I like this. This is very old school.
Speaker 4 (01:11:02):
I thought you'd like this. I thought last night you
would not like it. I said to myself, Donnie's not
gonna Oh.
Speaker 1 (01:11:06):
No, this is old school.
Speaker 3 (01:11:08):
I like it. I wish the Canucks would do more.
Hearkening back to their Western Hockey League gays. Their colors
were red, white and blue back then, but they could
work around that. And this reminds me. I don't know what.
I don't know what the origin of this jersey is,
if it harkens back to some point in oilers or
oil King's history, but I like that.
Speaker 4 (01:11:30):
Look, Connucks need to do what Abosford's doing. I love
the Abosford green, don't I love that green. That Atbospord's Green.
It pops way more. It pops. It just pops. They
look so nice in those.
Speaker 3 (01:11:42):
You know, either that or go back full time flying
skate or some sort of combination. But there you go.
Looks like the oilers. Third jerseys have been like your
a uniform guy. What jersey guy, Ryan?
Speaker 1 (01:11:52):
What do you think comes down?
Speaker 3 (01:11:53):
Comes down? Why?
Speaker 1 (01:11:55):
I don't know. It's just a script lettering.
Speaker 3 (01:11:58):
Oh no, I like that. It's old school. That's what
jerseys used to look like, back when they were paper tickets.
People lined up for big events.
Speaker 1 (01:12:07):
Cracking. They have a third jersey too. This year.
Speaker 3 (01:12:10):
You're telling me that that crack and third jersey is
better than that.
Speaker 1 (01:12:13):
Here, let me get a photo of the crack at
third jersey. I don't think it's better, but anyway, it's different.
Speaker 3 (01:12:20):
What I don't like about it is that it's another
black or dark blue jersey too many of those.
Speaker 1 (01:12:25):
I believe, by the way, that this is the first
year I think teams were allowed to have third jerseys,
if I have that correct, after the new agreement with
uh adidastics fanatics fanatics, this is the crack to make.
Speaker 3 (01:12:41):
A change on their third jersey.
Speaker 4 (01:12:42):
Yeah, yeah, they went, I saw this the other day,
that this isn't bad.
Speaker 1 (01:12:46):
It's okay, to be honest. The best crack in Jersey
they've had of all of them is the reverse retro
that they.
Speaker 3 (01:12:51):
Oh my gosh, were they that the tea light blue?
They really emphasized that. A lot of stripes. Yes, I agree,
the stripes present sonic pings.
Speaker 1 (01:13:02):
Okay, yeah, okay, I'm shocked with how much the owner
here loves his money, the owner in Seattle or here
here here across the street, that there's no Canucks their
jersey just shocked. The black skate, I guess, but I
don't know. It's kind of played out now.
Speaker 3 (01:13:22):
Helping consult us they should Yeah, they.
Speaker 4 (01:13:25):
Don't think about They do watch us, but they don't
like us. They do watch us.
Speaker 3 (01:13:29):

Speaker 1 (01:14:03):
Leftop speaking of those cards from any era, the far
left today tops baseball cards from nineteen eighty seven. Those
cards special because they could feature rookie card of none
other than Barry Bonds. How about that Mike Madonna signed
Hall of Fame puck in the middle, Pokemon cards, back
of Pokemon, Box of Expansion, Pokemon cards on the right.
Speaker 3 (01:14:24):
And when I think Donnian dolling it Sports, I think Pokemon.
Speaker 1 (01:14:26):
Yeah, you guys, you know how Ken has got us
to open packs of cards. I was gonna see if
he could get me to hope you guys open some pokemons.
You get to say, you know what pokemons you have?
Speaker 3 (01:14:38):
Well, our ears can look forward to that.
Speaker 1 (01:14:40):
That would be something I got a chargehard.

(01:15:24):
because I wanted to get to this story. Like one
of my favorite movies of all time, at least the
first one was Spinal Tap two. The End Continues opens
in theaters this weekend. I like the think big.
Speaker 4 (01:15:40):
Pink torpedo.
Speaker 6 (01:15:41):
That's yeah literature, Yeah yeah, really.
Speaker 11 (01:15:45):
A lot has happened since the last time I saw you, Crypto,
Have you been playing music at all?
Speaker 3 (01:15:51):
A time?
Speaker 1 (01:15:51):
Music at a pub?
Speaker 7 (01:15:57):
This is the site of Spinal Taps reunion concert.
Speaker 4 (01:16:00):
Why he knew Worlandies.
Speaker 3 (01:16:01):
There was a cancelation. Who was supposed to be there?
An evening with Stormy Daniels. This is this is Spinal Tap,
released in eighty four starring Michael McKeon. Christopher Guest, Harry Scher,
directed by Rob Ryder. They're all back Rick, as the
fictional heavy metal group Rehenna reunites after a fifteen year hiatus.
(01:16:25):
The sequel includes and I'm worried about this. I'm not
a big fan of cameos Paul McCartney, Elton John and
Garth Brooks, among others. This is spinal Tap did not
have a whole lot of success in theaters, but became
a VHS videotape cult classic. Rick theaters this weekend. I'm
a huge fan. I'm worried because sequels. I mean just
(01:16:47):
I'm still recovering from watching Happy Gilmour Too.
Speaker 4 (01:16:50):
I saw it. I saw that.
Speaker 3 (01:16:52):
I liked it. Oh okay, well there you go. I
liked it. I'm still recovering. Then, there's been two good
sequels in the histories, in the history of movies, maybe
three Gladiator, Godfather Too, and Fubar. That's it.
Speaker 4 (01:17:08):
You know what's Fubar two might have been better than Fudbar.
Speaker 3 (01:17:10):
One, which is excellent.
Speaker 4 (01:17:11):
By the way, you know what's coming soon. Police Academy seven, man,
I know, and you'll be there. I will. I saw
the first six police Academies. They were great, Donnie, are
you kidding?
Speaker 1 (01:17:21):
There's another sequel that was really good. Home Alone two
was very good. U Alone to give you that. The
New York one, I'll give you that that lived up
to it, for sure, Yeah, for sure.
Speaker 3 (01:17:32):
What about Terminator? Oh that was good.
Speaker 4 (01:17:37):
Rocky two was that mister T. I don't know it
was mister T. I think, Yeah, Rocky two was good.
Speaker 3 (01:17:44):
I don't think it was mister T.
Speaker 4 (01:17:47):
No, he was the Russian guy. It was one of
the anyways, Rocky Drago that was right here at the ag.
Speaker 3 (01:17:54):
Yeah, you know what the Canucks practice the day that
Sylvester still Alan came to check out the agrodime, we
were there reporting on it. And let's just say he's
not the tallest guy in the one, but he's Rocky.
Speaker 1 (01:18:11):
Rocky two is a Paulo Creed.
Speaker 4 (01:18:13):
Yeah, okay, I was closed car form.
Speaker 3 (01:18:17):
Well he was in the first one, of course. Yeah. Yeah,
what was it what he did? A Paulo Creed was
training Rocky?
Speaker 1 (01:18:26):
Yeah, that's yeah. The summary says that.
Speaker 3 (01:18:29):
I remember that. Okay, maybe there's been more than two
or three. Hold one two, man, I'm telling you, But
happy Gilmour too with the cameos and I don't like
the cameos in this one. I love Paul McCartney, Elton
John sure, but I don't know they don't because the
alls I think of when I see cameos is that's
Paul McCartney, and I forget about the movie and it
(01:18:51):
just it disintegrates. We haven't got time for birthdays, so
uh is it just me is coming up?
Speaker 1 (01:18:58):
They'll be back tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (01:18:59):
There'll be back tomorrow.
Speaker 1 (01:19:00):
You can do double tomorrow.
Speaker 4 (01:19:02):
There you go, look forward to disappoint it because one
of our favorite athletes birthday today.
Speaker 3 (01:19:07):
Well, who is it say for tomorrow?
Speaker 1 (01:19:10):
Or do that one? Let me do this one, just
that one, just that one.
Speaker 4 (01:19:15):
A BC Lion won the CFL's Most Outstanding Player at
Morgan two o six twenty six. Bran Johnson led the
lines to two great Cups two thousand, Yeah, September eleventh,
gro second day, he Roy Simon love g Roy Simon, Yeah,
and Brent Johnson I believe was outstanding defensive player and
(01:19:36):
outstanding Canadian that year. Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:19:37):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:19:38):
Mount Rushmore of best BC athletes all time. G Roy's
on that, g.
Speaker 11 (01:19:42):
Roy's on it from BC played significant Lions, Lions Rushmore
no I'm on All Time Banks Top four.
Speaker 1 (01:19:53):
Oh yeah, clutch Man, clutch play.
Speaker 3 (01:19:56):
You take him over mur Fernandez, who you remember to all.
Speaker 4 (01:20:02):
Cheer.
Speaker 3 (01:20:02):
Roy's problem in that argument is that merv Fernandez was
as flashy as could be. JIROI made things look very
easy like he was like it didn't look like he
was flying, but he was flying.
Speaker 4 (01:20:14):
Yes, yes, serving Mervin. Oh he was the best.
Speaker 3 (01:20:18):
Doug Flutie too, but although he only lasted two years,
O every time?
Speaker 1 (01:20:24):
Is it just me?
Speaker 3 (01:20:25):
Coming up the late Jack Eli born in this day
in nineteen forty three, guitarist singer for the Portland band Rick.
That's going to play Us out June sixty three and
the album The Kingsman in Person, This is the Kingsman
and Louis Lui on Check Sports Talk and Classic Rock
on a BC Thursday. Is it just me Rick? Rock
(01:21:08):
and roll?
Speaker 4 (01:21:09):
All right?
Speaker 1 (01:21:09):
This is just me?
Speaker 4 (01:21:10):
But with how much Rick talks about Ernie Punch McLain,
you think you'd have a fan page for him, Sheldon Surrey.
I love Ernie Punch McLain. Donnie loves Ernie Punch mclin.
Ryan doesn't know who Ernie Punch McLain is. We love
him four Memorial Cops, Stan Smeil, Barry Beck, Jonagrodnick, John
Paul Kelly, Boris Fistrick. We can go on all day long.
I love John There, Ernie Punch McClain, Donnie, we love him.
Speaker 3 (01:21:35):
And I you know, I'm a big fan of the
b C Sports Hall of Fame. By the way, We've
got to get to that Greg Moore story in one
of these days. But Ernie should be in the.
Speaker 1 (01:21:43):
He should be there.
Speaker 4 (01:21:44):
Ernie's a great guy, great coach news Nick.
Speaker 3 (01:21:47):
Is it just me? But if quinn Hees gets sixteen shmill,
he would be only the eighth highest paid blue Jay
shows how much less hockey players make than other sports.
Speaker 4 (01:21:56):
Well more important by us. Hell, what does it tell you?
Don the TV contract? The reason those guys are paying
players thirty forty to fifty sixty million is the TV
contracts in the NHL just doesn't have that.
Speaker 2 (01:22:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:22:07):
And also the eighty one home dates right yeah, big time,
one hundred sixty two game schedule. What do you got
all right?
Speaker 4 (01:22:15):
Number one ranked offense in the CFL, the worst ranked defense,
Good old BC Lions. This text is so true in
the Bayside Ocean Front Resort inbox, the Lions fixed defense
and the offense is just doing a great job fix the.
Speaker 3 (01:22:33):
D Lions hosting Ottawa a rematch on Friday, white Caps
versus Philadelphia Saturday. Brandon from Atbmospherd Is it just me,
but Dawn, you're saying Gladiator Too was a great sequel
immediately discredits your opinion on best sequels of all time.
I'm gonna stand by that, and I'll stand by the
(01:22:53):
fu Bar two take along with Godfather too. You might
we mentioned a couple of others. There's a ton of sequels.
I'm worried about Spinal Tap, it may very well be
my favorite movie, and worried about the sequel.
Speaker 4 (01:23:06):
All right, here we go. I screwed up earlier, right
when you were talking about Mister Rogers. I mentioned Finnegan.
Finnegan was from Mister dress Up, So I want to
make that. Uh that's NBA, Raj. I screwed up.
Speaker 3 (01:23:19):
Good, you got that in.
Speaker 4 (01:23:20):
No Finnigan was on Mister dress Up, Mister Rogers with Casey,
Casey and Finnigan and the Friendly Giant and Jerome.
Speaker 3 (01:23:27):
The Giraft was from No Idea Friendly Giant Ela in Surrey.
I hope I've got that name right? Is it just me?
But a math question today? What is longer? Scotti Bowman's
answers or Dolly Walls long winded rants defending his agent
buddies Scotty Bowman, He's got two ninety three next week? Right? Uh? I?
(01:23:51):
I could listen to him all day. You want to
call him that long winded? That that's nothing against our listener.
Their view were there, But I I love listening to him.
Sharp attack looks right. And you know what, when it
comes to the Scotty going on and on rambling a bit,
he would like that when he was thirty five or forty.
Speaker 4 (01:24:07):
Exact change exactly, and for him to know where Bunny
Lrock went in a seventy one dropt. Yeah, and he's
ninety two. Are you kidding me?
Speaker 3 (01:24:15):
He's just that mind never has never ever shut off.
Speaker 4 (01:24:19):
All right. I don't know how high these contracts are
going to go to, but at some point it's got
to be enough is enough? And I'd like this text.
The more these guys Canucks make sixteen seventeen eighty million,
guess what goes up done ticket prices? The fans are
gonna pay. Yeah, as soon as Quinn Hughes makes sixteen.
The cap goes up and all these guys are making
fifteen sixteen. You the paying custom will will pay the price.
Speaker 3 (01:24:41):
DJT is it just me will wake and help ped's speed?
That is all that matters. Top skating speed fell from
ninety fourth percent tile in twenty two to twenty three,
to seventy second in twenty three twenty four, and even
lower in twenty four to twenty five. And he goes on,
he or she goes on to throw in some other
stats regarding his skating speed. So that that's interesting. He
(01:25:04):
you know, is he gonna get faster faster having bulked up?
You you think he wouldn't. So you could throw tendonitis
as a possible reason, the knee tendonitis as a possible
reason there for the decrease in speed. It's just just
so interesting with Les.
Speaker 4 (01:25:21):
Petty Donny, the cor the lower body strength will help
is skating. You know, hey, Justin and ease Fan, we
didn't know this today down two years ago today, Quinn
Hughes named the fifteenth captain in Canuck's history. It was
it was two years ago today.
Speaker 3 (01:25:34):
Very interesting, great choice, Dave and Cedar, Is it just me.
Let's get back to the old days where we would
line up at A and B sound overnight at the tickets.
Did it for w w E tickets in the nineties.
What was the name of the remember the Canucks Winning Spirit,
Winning Spirit, That's what people would go get tickets there.
But I remember lining up at the coliseum and people
(01:25:56):
camping over at night and they'd party everything for zepp
In concert or whatever the case may be, your big
Kannucks playoff game. It was a lot of fun.
Speaker 4 (01:26:03):
Well, hey, hold it eighty seven, Joshua Tree, you too,
the lineup at Woodwards. I was in it, Little Ricky
was in it.
Speaker 3 (01:26:14):
How'd that go? Fun?
Speaker 4 (01:26:15):
That was a great, great concert?
Speaker 3 (01:26:18):
Okay, out of time break, we'll wrap up the show.

poll question then today again for the second straight day,
involves involves Quinn hughes Is hughes Worth sixteen million dollars
per season. Eighty five percent say yes, fifteen percent say no. Hey,
shopping is spopping it over a thousand votes.

the next day, twenty miles off shore outside of Bamfield.
The wind took it in the ocean. And the second one,

the soccer game. Joe Sakic.

Speaker 4 (01:29:29):

at the top of the show, we ran the clip
from yesterday down in Las Vegas, Quinn Hughes and I'm
paraphrasing here his decision to stay or not stay in Vancouver.
