Your local sports coverage lives here.
Speaker 3 (00:20):
Sure what I.
Speaker 4 (00:21):
Says to an overly curved super blade.
Speaker 2 (00:23):
Do Nothing Blue with John Taylor.
Speaker 4 (00:26):
I say that the winner of the draft lottery should
be the winner of a two man loose.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
And Rick dolly Wall I had a cherry tree up
a little Ricky. I used to go up that tree
and just sit there for hours and munch on those
cherry years.
Speaker 2 (00:37):
Donnie and Dolly.
Speaker 4 (00:40):
Ten o'clocking downtown Dank Kruver run the Paul Carson Studio
Facts tuning in, Folks, It's Donnie and Dolly the team
on Check. Don Taylor along with Rick Dollingwall. Ryan Henderson
is our producer. He's the man at the controls or director.
The voice of God is Derek. I just want to
make this announcement before I say hi to Rick here
that Rick will be leaving the show three minutes left.
Speaker 3 (01:04):
Stop it go to.
Speaker 4 (01:05):
The game Friday. Lions aregos, you know, and look it's
the CFL. The three minute clock, famous for its comebacks,
and you leave that game early. Brandon our friend waddling
Dog Bayside Resort in Parksville, you know, has us in
(01:26):
a suite. What a host he is?
Speaker 3 (01:28):
What he was?
Speaker 4 (01:30):
And you insult everybody by leaving the game? Who leaves
games early? Don don't understand it.
Speaker 5 (01:37):
The Lions gotta fumble on the fifty yard line. They're
not losing that. My buddy, Mike Benevidi's great defense, good coaching.
I got a skytrain to catcheck at the Canucks. You
know who left BC placed with me at the three
minute mark, don No one? A ton of people. I
was walking out. I don't understand it. I gotta get
to the skytrain. I got a long night. There's forty
(01:58):
thousand people.
Speaker 4 (01:58):
Why why did you go to an event with twenty
thousand people and then then there's another event with twenty
thousand people across the street. Why would you go if
you're so worried about traffic.
Speaker 5 (02:09):
I've never understand that I have confidence in the lines defense,
Benavidi's doing a good job. They got the fumbled the
fifty yard line, and I said myself, I said to myself, they're.
Speaker 4 (02:17):
Gonna win and guess what they won. They did, but
you just don't know. And again, the CFLs famous for
it's comebacks. And look, I'm the world's cheapest person if
I'm bucking up and I didn't buck up that year.
Thanks thanks for Brandon. I can't thank him enough. But
if I'm bucking up for a game, I want to
see the whole thing and then it'd be nothing worse
to me than to leave, really and miss a comeback.
(02:39):
You don't know, even if it's the comeback I get.
It's the team I wanted to win.
Speaker 5 (02:43):
Have confidence in your team like I did, and I
and I took this.
Speaker 4 (02:47):
You you left on your team. You bailed on your team.
Speaker 3 (02:50):
Confidence confidence.
Speaker 5 (02:52):
Thousands of people were going to the Disky. It doesn't
make it right, Donny. And by the way, I took
the sky train for the first time since the nineteen eighties.
Speaker 4 (03:00):
One with the people.
Speaker 5 (03:02):
Done's done, very impressed.
Speaker 3 (03:04):
Good.
Speaker 5 (03:05):
That's the first time I went on skytrain in thirty
forty years.
Speaker 4 (03:10):
So you were kind of excited to get our skytrain.
That's why you left early. That's why I was excited.
What a weekend it was. Despite Rick leaving early from
Bessie Place on Friday, Canucks, Lions, white Caps, NFL boy
that Green Bay Dallas game, last tie rugby Women's Well Cup.
Canada lost, but eighty two thousand against England. England ends
(03:33):
up winning. Jays and Mariners Ryder Cup. Now, we always
talk about October being such a special month when all
the sports intersect, NHL, NBA, both those leagues get underway, CFL, NFL, MLB,
their soccer. We mentioned the rugby and the run. No,
it's not to October yet. The Ryder Cup is golf.
(03:56):
But I just think this year is going to be
extra special show because in the Major League Baseball playoffs,
you got the Jays and Mariners, they could both both
winning divisions both yeah, possibly meeting in the ALCS. So
there's that that doesn't always happen, needless to say. And
then you got the white Caps doing what they're doing.
Bob Leonard News is going to join us from the
(04:17):
white Caps later on today's show, by the way, to
talk about the white Caps, who drew on the weekend
with Seattle and who play an important game on Wednesday
for the Canadian Championship against Vancouver FC. So October always special,
extra special, with what's happening in baseball and locally soccer.
Speaker 5 (04:37):
We need a four hour show today to get through
everything good. And you haven't even mentioned this bugs Bunny
guy that's going to be the singer at Super Bowl.
Speaker 4 (04:45):
But no where we're going to get to that link.
But I'm telling you there was so much that's not
an octo otober Rick now.
Speaker 5 (04:50):
I know, but I'm just telling you there was so
much news on the weekend. That's what I'm talking about,
don There's so much news, and if.
Speaker 3 (04:56):
We did have a four hour show today, you would
leave around what the hours, forty five minute something like that.
Speaker 5 (05:01):
There was tons of people that left PC place with me.
I I wasn't the only guy.
Speaker 3 (05:06):
I'm a Donnie. It's like it sneaks up on people.
Speaker 4 (05:08):
Wow.
Speaker 5 (05:09):
But I did say forty thousand people around here. But
I shook everyone's head and I gave him one a hug,
and I think they watching the game. No done, I
shook everyone's head, I gave it one a hug and
said I'm leaving.
Speaker 4 (05:20):
When I was a kid, one of the reasons why
you didn't leave early. And again, I'm the world's cheapest person.
Speaker 3 (05:26):
I get that.
Speaker 4 (05:27):
But there was always people who and I think you
do this with food the times you do stay for
a whole game that would leave their programs. Oh yes,
pick up a free friend is cheap way. And look,
I didn't grow up rich like you guys, So I
grab a couple of free programs seem the Empire Stadium
back in the day.
Speaker 3 (05:46):
And now there's no programs to grab.
Speaker 4 (05:48):
There you go, Yeah, there you go. I missed that.
What happened to that?
Speaker 3 (05:52):
I thought you were gonna say you scrounged up like
leftover popcorn and stuff.
Speaker 4 (05:56):
I may have done that, have a little snack dinner. Hey,
I'm not the only one who did that back in
the day. Not the food, the program.
Speaker 3 (06:04):
Yeah. I actually used to do that as a kid too.
Speaker 4 (06:07):
There you go. Yeah, Okay, let's focus on, as we
often do, the Vancouver Canucks. Yeah, they lose to the
Oilers four to three last night, three goals in the
third period for the Knucks trying to mount a furious comeback.
You wouldn't want to leave that game early, no, right,
So the Conducks are two and two so far, and
there's all this talk about and you've heard it, Ryan,
(06:28):
you've heard it as well. All this talk about what
are the Canucks going to do for a second line center? Yea,
And I say to myself, what's what's the big deal?
I think Elias Petterson will be fine as the second
line center, Like, what's what is the big what's the
problem there? Like, honestly, Philip heedel looks so good right now,
and I know people go with down. You've liked him
(06:50):
since day one in this power like you have a debut.
He looks really really good, fast driving play, which not
every forward on the Canucks does. No names mentioned. I
think he looks really good. Is he gonna be the
first line center? No, I'm kidding, of course, but he
looks very, very impressive right now. Arguably this side of
(07:11):
Braden Coots, the Canucks' most impressive player so far this
this preseason.
Speaker 5 (07:16):
You love his speed. You love his speed, Donny. The
Canucks are not the fastest bunch to begin with, but
the pass on the Lacarramaki.
Speaker 3 (07:23):
Goal, it was so beautiful. You are correct.
Speaker 5 (07:26):
He did a lot of good stuff last night. And
he has to be the guy at the second line
center spot because if he's not, the Canucks are in trouble.
Don the first line center is making eleven point six
million dollars. Don I don't know if you know that
he's got to be the guy get back to one
hundred points. You need sixty seventy points from Heatl. Can
you give it to you?
Speaker 4 (07:44):
Done?
Speaker 3 (07:44):
Yeah?
Speaker 4 (07:44):
Well, it wasn't just about that pass was absolutely beautiful,
a finish size across the seam. Lecromack. He's also looked
a very good We'll give the Canucks the Canucks, but
I'm talking about his ability to just showcase his speed.
Philip Heatle looks really really impressive so far, you know,
(08:05):
health permitting, you would think he would come up with
a pretty big, big year. I think just watching that
game last night, I don't think they started out as
linemates last night. But I will bet because that's not
the fastest group, that top six Connucks forward group isn't
the fastest group. They're not, but I bet that Adam
Foote will be a tempted at times to play Hetle
(08:28):
Withdrew O'Connor. They played together a few times, and again
I'm bouncing back and forth between it's mainly different events
on television, but with Hetel and O'Connor out there, they
look fast and dangerous. And again, I know they're not
world beaters. I get that nobody's winning the scoring race,
nobody's winning an art ross here, but I just thought
they looked. They look dangerous, and give gave the Canucks
(08:50):
last night an element that people are wondering about, and
that speed. And I wonder Ifoot will not be I'll
say it again, if he won't be tempted to play
those two together.
Speaker 5 (08:58):
Did you see O'Connor was it the second goal when
he went to the net. I mean, he's fun to watch.
He's a big body, Donny. He is the guy that
could replace to go to Joshua.
Speaker 4 (09:09):
A different type of player, No, a big strong, you.
Speaker 3 (09:11):
Know, physical, physical, a lot faster. Yeah, that's what I mean.
Speaker 4 (09:15):
And and look you take your shots at the Canucks
left and right, Rick. But I will say this about
their preseason. I mentioned Philip Heatel, but they have to
be over the moon with the way their young players
have looked, Hoots. They has looked very very comfortable, noticeable
(09:36):
out there. Vlander, after a little bit of a slow start,
has looked really really really good. And we mentioned Lker
Mackie like seemingly I'm not going to say out of nowhere.
It's a first round draft pick, but looking way more comfortable.
I know it's preseason. They were playing a pretty good
Owners team last night and the number one goal, Yeah,
and he looked so he looked very very impressive. Cano
(10:00):
have to be really excited about what they see from
their young players.
Speaker 3 (10:03):
Absolutely, you know, and Mancini.
Speaker 5 (10:06):
I gotta throw his name in there because he's been
good to Kudriots have DPD. There's some good young kids
coming up, Donny, and you got to give him credit
for going out and getting those kids. And last year's
draft was really really good. There's no question there's some
good up and comers coming up with the Karen Maki,
by the way, on the gold Donny on his stick
off a stick back of the net. You'll love to see.
Speaker 4 (10:25):
That, Okay. I wanted to hear if we want to
get this clip in from Brayden Kots and there's also
a clip from Adam Foot. But let's let's say that
because we got three guests today, so I want to
get to the poll question. All right, So the Blue Jays.
Ryan's going to talk about this a little bit later,
I believe, But another champagne soaked celebration. They had a
(10:48):
disco ball there yesterday, so you know, a couple of
days ago, they celebrate with champagne and see goggles making
the playoffs, clinching a playoff spot. Yesterday they win their
final game in very impressive fashion over Tampa Bay thirteen
for they clinch the division title. So another celebration. Off
(11:10):
to the playoffs they go. They get the first round
by and while to talk about something you look forward
to facing the winner of the Red Sox Yankees series.
Of course, the Mariners also with the buy moving on
to the playoffs in the American League. So that this
leads all of this conversation leads to our pole question,
(11:33):
Our waddling dog pole question. Experience one of Victoria's iconic destinations, sleep, sip,
and stock up all in one legendary spot. Come sit
and stay at the dog today, Rick.
Speaker 5 (11:46):
Ryan, get her up the waddling dog pole question. What
would you rather see the Blue Jays when the World
Series or the Canucks make the playoffs? No surprise here
it's in Vancouver. Seventy make the Canucks. But that's a
pretty significant number, twenty nine percent saying you know what,
the Blue Jays win the Series four hundred and eighty
eight votes already.
Speaker 4 (12:06):
But there you go, Donny, And of course your your
vote would be Jays when the World Series? Where's your
shirt today?
Speaker 5 (12:12):
Said to me, I almost shotted tier yesterday. I'm not
gonna lie because ninety two ninety three, Joe Carter, don't
shake your head. I almost shotted a tier. What did
they win the World Series?
Speaker 3 (12:20):
Did win the World Series?
Speaker 5 (12:22):
But they're back in a year ago this time, the
Blue Jays were dead last in the Al East and
they win it. Uh, the home runs, the Grand Slams,
all that stuff. It almost brought a tier to my eye.
But anyways, blue Jays win the World Series? How big
would that be for the first time. I'll tell us
who would be Big four?
Speaker 4 (12:39):
It'd be big for the reporters at tssan in sports,
they're celebrating with the team live.
Speaker 5 (12:44):
That's right.
Speaker 4 (12:44):
That's horrible. Like it's just like and whenever they lose,
it's like the world has come to an end. It's
almost it's funny to watch. They could care less about
anything outside of Toronto, any sport. It's just funny. These
are national networks. It's just funny to watch.
Speaker 5 (13:02):
It's Toronto. It's Toronto. They run the world, they run
the country, they run everything. It's Toronto. What did you
expect on?
Speaker 3 (13:09):
Nothing?
Speaker 4 (13:09):
But just so special because you've got the Blue Jays
and the Mariners, and you know, the thought of them meeting,
and I know they met a couple of years ago
in a wild card that the Mariners swept, but the
thought of them meeting in a championship series, it's just
it's just so special. And how that will divide this place,
how it'll divide Vancouver. Hey, you want to you wanted
(13:32):
to mention? I think we've got time for this. Some
people that gave us some coffee.
Speaker 3 (13:39):
Yeah, that's right. Where's the coffee? Ryan? You got this?
Speaker 5 (13:41):
Infu Eh?
Speaker 4 (13:44):
Here, there's a card there.
Speaker 5 (13:45):
There it is Ryan. Thanks, we were We got viewers everywhere.
Speaker 3 (13:50):

Speaker 5 (13:52):

I appreciate the great work behind the scenes, all that stuff.

Speaker 3 (14:03):

it says on the card there didn't you? You really
did spring this up?
Speaker 5 (14:11):

got this Ryan, you were supposed to read this and
now you're throwing it a live TV.
Speaker 3 (14:17):
But this guys brought it in.
Speaker 5 (14:19):

Speaker 3 (14:21):

Speaker 5 (14:36):

Speaker 4 (14:37):

the one shot there that that bag goes with your shirt.
Speaker 3 (14:42):
It does, it does.
Speaker 5 (14:43):
Look at that leaven the top there and everything.
Speaker 4 (14:45):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (14:46):
But anyways, Salmon Arm a great, beautiful, beautiful city.
Speaker 3 (14:50):

Speaker 5 (14:51):

Speaker 4 (15:08):
Hey, that'd be a great last name, mister don Anvil.
Don don't mess with him. Okay, here's what.
Speaker 3 (15:17):
Was the thing that fell on Wiley Coyote.
Speaker 4 (15:19):
Yeah usually from the ACME company.
Speaker 3 (15:22):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, suddenly, somehow he would get back up
and just keep on trucking.
Speaker 4 (15:26):
After being turned into an accordion. Yeah, kids out there watching,
What the hell are they talking about? DTMZ? Is it
just me? Coming up in the eleven o'clock hour, Bob
Leonardoozy from the White Camps front office is going to
join us just after eleven o'clock. What a season the
white Caps have had, and I say that in part
(15:48):
because it started off in disastrous fashion there they're put
up for sale into in December. We'll talk to Bob
about that and look at the season they've had and
they play that Canadian Championship game on Wednesday against Vancouver FC.
Bob's gonna join us around eleven fifteen or so, Noodles.
Jamie mcclennan will join us just after eleven o'clock, and
(16:08):
another ex NHL goaltender. We'll talk to him about, among
other things, the passing of Bernie Paran. I want to
ask him a specific question about the style that Bernie
played if it would work in today's game. Big Rye
the Twitter guy, coming up later this hour and up
next from KGr Sports Radio, the KRACK and Hockey Network
(16:31):
down in Seattle. The Seahawks pretty impressive start beating Arizona
on Thursday. I'm sure you guys talked about it on Friday.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
How are you happy Monday? Gentlemen? How are you guys?
Speaker 4 (18:06):
Very very good? How jacked? Is that team right now?
Is that city right now? Yeah? So the teams are
jacked as well. But three and one Seahawks and the
Mariners with the buy headed to the playoffs.
Speaker 7 (18:15):
Yeah, I mean it's fun. We you know, we haven't
had this in a long time. It feels different probably
than three years ago when the Mariners were in that year,
I think what the Seahawks made the playoffs, got knocked
out in the first round. Then the Mariners made the playoffs,
and the crockn ended up making the playoffs that spring.
So it's been a while since we've had this kind
of success. We're not really sure how to handle it.
(18:36):
But it does feel different with the Mariners, especially just
because it's you know, they win the division, they get
a first round by they're not going on the road
to start, they're not playing the first two games in
the middle of the day, you know, on a weekday,
which that's a whole nother story how dumb Major League
Baseball really truly is and how they just don't care
about you as a fan. But we don't have to
(18:57):
worry about that, at least for the first two games.
We're here on the weekend, Mariners hosting whoever ends up
with the win in the Detroit Cleveland series, and they'll
be here Saturday Sunday and away we go.
Speaker 4 (19:06):
How will it go over with the Seattle sports market,
because we understand there might be some conflict with Mariners
games and Seahawks kickoff times.
Speaker 7 (19:18):
Yeah, so it's a complicated thing, Donnie. That what happens
is there's the least agreement that the Mariners have with
the city, and it's kind of not even really the city,
it's this whole port authority. It's all the different layers
of government.
Speaker 3 (19:32):
Shocking.
Speaker 7 (19:33):
I know you guys would find that hard to believe
up in Canada as well, right, But tam Mobile was
there before loomin Field, So the Mariners have some sort
of priority in terms of the scheduling. Major League Baseball
really doesn't care. They'll schedule whatever works best for their
television agreements. You can't have two teams games starting simultaneous.
That we do know that. So this almost came up
(19:54):
a few years ago. If the Mariners would have won
the game against Houston in the AI DS that went
to eighteen innings, If they would have won that game,
the Seahawks played at home the next day, and they
were going to have to move the Seahawk game. I
believe it was to two thirty, so the Mariners would
have started at twelve thirty or one, so there would
have been a little bit of a staggered start. But honestly, guys,
I mean even yesterday, my son went to the game
(20:16):
sold out Dodgers game to end the season. Game that
was meaningless, but it still sold out and parking was
nowhere to be found. And that was forty five thousand people.
You add sixty five thousand to the forty five thousand.
Do the math. It's not going to be easy. It
won't be pleasant, So you know, it is what it is, though.
I guess it's the spoils that come with having a
(20:36):
playoff team in baseball and also an NFL team that's
very popular and happens to be playing at home that weekend.
Speaker 3 (20:41):
As well.
Speaker 5 (20:41):
In the Seahawks started three and one last year as well.
I think they started three and oh. But what's the
difference between the two starts in your eyes?
Speaker 7 (20:50):
Well, I think they're a better football team, Rick, I
think we talked about that a little bit before the season.
They you know, I think Mike McDonald's scond year. He's
much more comfortable. The defense is much more comfortable with
what they want to do. It's complicated defense, and so
I think with those things being said, the comfort level
that McDonald has his defense is healthier.
Speaker 3 (21:08):
Now, we're starting to.
Speaker 7 (21:09):
See more guys come back we did against the on Thursday,
even more that the great rookie they're real excited about
should be back this week. And I think, honestly, guys,
I think a big difference too, could probably be put
down to the guy taking snaps from center and Sam
Darnold and and a better offensive line. The offensive line
is is healthy. It's better. The right tackle was out
(21:30):
most of the last season. The right guard didn't play well.
He's still not great, but they've solidified the center position,
which was just a turnstile last season. The left guard
and grays Abel's really good, and the rookie and Charles
Cross is playing his best football as a left tackle.
I think they're just a better all around football team.
So I think that's the big difference. And you know,
I mean they've got a couple you know, the Pittsburgh
(21:50):
win on the road is always good to go to Arizona,
which is a house of whoors for Seattle. They always
win there except for a couple of games. We won't
mention the one against New England, but they always win there.
But something always bad happens. Guys get hurt. It's for
Cam Chanceller's career ended, Sherman's career as a Seahawk, Endid
Will Disky tore a patella. Earl Thomas flipped off Pete
Carroll when his career ended, breaking a leg. So they
(22:12):
got out of there with a win against the divisional opponent.
Speaker 3 (22:14):
So I just think they're a little bit better than
they were last year.
Speaker 7 (22:17):
I also I'd make an argument too, that might be
the best division in football right now, at least in
the NFC.
Speaker 5 (22:24):
In cal Rawley, Yeah, he caught the imagination not just
of Seattle but everybody everywhere. I mean, talk about his
season and where did it come from? I mean, I
think his previous high for homers was a little bit
over thirty, and then he just goes nuts this year.
Speaker 7 (22:40):
Yeah, he's at back to back thirty home run these seasons,
which is good for a catcher. Great for a catcher,
I think just Rick. I mean, first of all, it's
the nickname rights. When you're nicknamed the big Dumper, you're
gonna immediately garner her attention. Maybe the best nickname in sports.
Go to the home run Derby because he's having this
great record breaking on pace direct records the year goes
(23:01):
to the home run Derby wins that and then really
kind of got that put him on the map, I
think nationally. I mean people, you guys know you're in Vancouver.
I mean we're out here. People think we're in Alaska.
Like it's just this lost, you know, wasteland out here
in the Pacific Northwest. So it's hard and games are
played at seven o'clock. Well, people don't stay up that
late to watch games. We see that with college football
really badly.
Speaker 3 (23:21):
I think we see it.
Speaker 7 (23:22):
I don't know how you guys are with the Canucks,
and I could look like a fool later on. I
think we see it with with hockey to a certain
extent as well. You know, I mean it's it's a
seven o'clock, ten o'clock start on the East Coast.
Speaker 3 (23:33):
People don't watch, and.
Speaker 7 (23:35):
You know they don't know what they're watching, and so,
but I think with Big Dumpery, yeah, he certainly. I
mean just the year he had, guys, And I know
the big debate is the is the al MVP. We
won't find out till mid November what that is. But
when you catch every game and you also are hitting
home runs the pace he is and carrying your team,
and there's some analytic numbers that will give Judge the
(23:57):
advantage or some other analytics if you want to look
at him, we'll give uh Big dump for the the advantage.
He also handles a pitching staff on a nightly basis.
He only allowed one pass ball all season. Aaron Judge
stands out in right field. You guys, listen, I I
didn't experience this, experienced this. I don't know, Donnie, you
probably didn't, But Rick, did you play ball when you
grew up? With you a baseball, softball.
Speaker 3 (24:18):
Guy ball, hockey, guy ball hockey?
Speaker 7 (24:20):
Okay, so you weren't the guy stuck in right field.
That's what I was guessing, because usually what do they do?
They stick the guy in right field. That's not very good.
Speaker 4 (24:25):
Are you saying you were in right field.
Speaker 7 (24:27):
In Yeah, I'm saying you and I weren't you? And ok, yeah, yeah,
yeah I was. I was taking a shot at Rick,
but he just didn't play along.
Speaker 3 (24:34):
And I don't like it. You know what, I'm gonna
remember that, Rick, and I was.
Speaker 5 (24:36):
The first guy picked in ball hockey when you used
to pick teams, and it was always me first, great hands,
great hands.
Speaker 4 (24:43):
But you were playing by yourself.
Speaker 5 (24:44):
Stop a Donnie. There's six seven of us, and I
was always the first guy picked.
Speaker 3 (24:50):
Donnie, this is it's it's it's a family show. But
you put that one on the t for a second.
Speaker 7 (24:54):
There's a lot of ways, a lot of ways. Yeah,
let the record show I didn't. I didn't take the
bait wrong.
Speaker 3 (25:00):
You owe me one.
Speaker 4 (25:03):
Hey. Hey, if if cal Rawley played hockey, and I
agree with you on the nickname, his nickname would be Rolls.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
Right. What happened in nicknames?
Speaker 4 (25:12):
They were great?
Speaker 7 (25:14):
Well, they're still the same, I mean, I think, don't
you know, I mean everyone everything has to end with
an I E right, yeah, or E R or or
or l Z and the like LZ s on the end, right,
it's got to be like that.
Speaker 3 (25:26):
It's it's it's something like that, or a player.
Speaker 4 (25:28):
You work a player's number in there, like E P forty.
Come on, got he's still playing? He still his Yes, okay,
all right, he is.
Speaker 3 (25:38):
We referred to him as I missed him last year.
I wish, I wish you would have played last.
Speaker 4 (25:41):
Year, trust me, knuck fans. Though he played last year.
We referred to him as a second line center in
our first segment. Yes, yes, didn't go over.
Speaker 7 (25:51):
Well really well, the salary says something different than second line.
But if you want to call him second line, then
that's that's it. Hey, that's a knuck problem. That's not
a cracking problem. We got our own issues down here.
Speaker 4 (26:02):
So cracking host Calgary today is anyone? Is anyone not injured?
Speaker 3 (26:06):
Yeah? No kidding? What a worthless thing preseason is in
all sports? Isn't it?
Speaker 7 (26:12):
Like you play the junior kids, get them, you know,
and I love the thing. Well, they can get up
to speed, you know, they guys can get up to speed.
I watched the the Edmonton game last week up there,
guys like I had. I had to look at the
box score a couple of times and just kept looking
like our McDavid is right. Oh they are playing is playing?
Speaker 3 (26:29):
That's weird. Didn't notice?
Speaker 7 (26:30):
Like guys are going half speed and then you guys
get hurt with a slash by a kid across the hand.
I mean, the cocko injury is really bad for the
crack and that's a bad injury. H McCann's back. Who else, uh,
Steven Montour's back skating. Mccannon Stevenson were skating yesterday. Montour
should be that they'll both be ready for the regular season. Stevenson,
(26:52):
I'm not sure, but he might be center three for
us anyway down here, so we'll see.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
Yeah, all right above him beyond he went to the
whole crack and roster. There we shape.
Speaker 3 (27:00):
I pulled a Russell Wilson, didn't I.
Speaker 4 (27:04):
Yeah, he's pulling a Russell Wilson in New York right now?
I mean, well he later yeah, yeah, well r I
p Russ. It was.
Speaker 3 (27:13):
It was good. Used to be mister unlimited. Now he's
mister limited.
Speaker 7 (27:17):
So next week, next week we'll talk baseball playoffs. Marys
will be two Oho. In that series, we have two
waiting for the Jays, waiting for the J's and all
you clowns to come down and invade our town again,
like you do everything.
Speaker 4 (27:31):
I can't wait for that.
Speaker 3 (27:31):
Bring it on.
Speaker 4 (27:32):
That can't happen, can it? Uh? This is on the
regular season. We're talking about alcs.
Speaker 3 (27:39):
Do you think they won't be buying tickets on the second.
Speaker 4 (27:40):
Well they will, they will, But I know that people
in Seattle get upset, and I mean this is this
is the playoffs got to be different.
Speaker 3 (27:47):
Everyone gets upset about when you sell tickets. I loved it.
Speaker 7 (27:50):
Saturday Husky fans were losing their mind because all these
Ohio State fans were sitting there in the in the
stands and they're like, oh, who's selling tickets? Will have
you not been to a seahawker a Manner game lately?
That's that's what happens. Yeah, Like this isn't a new thing.
I mean, if you could, if you buy a ticket
for eight hundred bucks, then someone's gonna give you three grand.
Speaker 3 (28:05):
What do you do? You sell it? All right? We
sell it?
Speaker 4 (28:08):
Yes?
Speaker 7 (28:08):
Is good business, good business practices, all right? I know
Rick's got ball hockey to do so, Yeah, there you go.
Hands good hands people.
Speaker 4 (28:15):
Yeah, he's involved in a draft.
Speaker 3 (28:16):
Thanks Ian, that was a visual I didn't need to see.
Speaker 4 (28:19):
Yeah, yeah, okay, we're good. Got cracking in Calgary tonight
and like like he said, like injuries and said mariners
with the buye and they're awaiting the winner of Cleveland
versus Detroit. Seahawks host Tampa on Sunday three and one.
Absolutely a break and we will as it open segment right,
(28:41):
It just won't deal with the pole question again, Donny

Red Sox and the Yankees Caducks the vote to start
their regular season.
Speaker 5 (29:51):
Absolutely, Ryan, get her up the waddling dog pole.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
Question.
Speaker 5 (29:54):
Would you rather see the Jays win the World Series
or the Canucks make the playoffs? Obviously Knucks making the playoff.
I was gonna win seventy one percent.
Speaker 3 (30:02):
Obviously the Jays is pretty high.
Speaker 5 (30:04):
Twenty nine percent, six hundred and fifty seven votes. I'm
not gonna lie. I might have jumped a little high
in the air when they clinched yesterday.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
Night in the air, But what do you want me
to do?
Speaker 5 (30:17):
Don I'm on the couch.
Speaker 4 (30:19):
You know they didn't leave early, so that's good.
Speaker 5 (30:22):
I might have jumped a little high. Ninety two ninety three.
Speaker 3 (30:25):
Joe Carter, you were there. I was there, We we
loved there.
Speaker 5 (30:30):
You were there, you saw it, You saw the magnitude
of Canada winning the World Series and Bob costas the
first World Series I believe, don I remember this him
saying he was concerned that the World Series is going
north of the border. So you know what it was.
I think he did say that. I'm gonna I gotta
google that, but I'm pretty sure he was not happy
that the World Series was going to Canada.
Speaker 4 (30:52):
No, I think he said something to the figure I
don't even know if it was Bob Cassius for the.
Speaker 5 (30:56):
They were not happy downside for the.
Speaker 4 (30:57):
First time in history, the World Series trophy will land
north of the border, something like that. I don't think
he was necessarily unhappy. Look, look, Toronto is part of
the States anyway it wants to be, so I don't
think it would be that big a deal down there.
I don't know, you know, And that was a great team,
no doubt about it. But I wasn't like doing cartwheels
(31:18):
or jumping up in the air like you were. Okay,
let's talk more about what the conducts have been up
to oiters over the conucs. Yesterday four to three, McDavid
and dry settle. No surprise, the Connacs didn't ice an
NHL caliber lineup. They combined for seven points, those two superstars. Meanwhile,
(31:41):
Braydon Coots. I know his two goals haven't exactly been spectacular.
There was an element of luck to both of them.
But his two goals in the preseason, he's got three
points so far. But he's been really impressive. He does
not i said in the first segment, does not look
out of place, making some smart plays. Skates, well, there
seems to be a whole lot there, Rick, and I've
(32:03):
said this before too. He's something they don't have. He's
a right handed center exactly. They don't have a lot
of anyway.
Speaker 5 (32:08):
Okay, so here's the thing. He keeps impressing. He keeps
staying an extra day for a junior kid. He's making
it awfully tough on the Canucks to cut him down,
and that's all you want from young kids.
Speaker 3 (32:19):
He make it tough. Look at he directs the puck
to the front of the net. He goes off the order,
he gets the goal. First goal, like.
Speaker 5 (32:24):
You mentioned against the crack in front of the net.
They're not pretty like you said, but they're in the Okay,
you know you're right, but look look at it. He
goes to the dangerous areas all the time. He's always
thinking the game right. Look, he doesn't care how old
he is. He wants to make this team.
Speaker 4 (32:40):
Not much he can do it, but.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
Yeah, he's very mature for his age.
Speaker 5 (32:43):
And you know what, good on him. He's just making
it hard on the coaching staff. It's not his fault.
Let the kids stay as long as he wants, and
then at some point, I think we all expect him
to go back to Seattle with the Thunderber.
Speaker 4 (32:55):
We'll see what happens. They have two games left, starting
Wednesday in Calgary and then Friday again at seven to
the Rodgers Arena. You know which young players will be
in the lineup for those good two games or the
general thinking is that they will ice more of an
NHL caliber lineup when it comes to Wednesday and Friday.
But you know, we'll let her Mack you be there.
(33:15):
I would, I would think so Coots Vlander. What happens
with these young guys? Will they get a chance to
play in those two games? It will tell people a
lot if they do.
Speaker 5 (33:24):
Of the opening night roster and Will Lander I expect
absolutely to Donnie. I'd be shocked if he didn't play
the last two regular season games. He's been good in
the last two games. First overall, first round pick, eleventh overall,
the right shot defenseman. Give them every opportunity to make
the team.
Speaker 4 (33:39):
So we mentioned Braden Coots scoring yesterday. Special for him
to do that, but extra special it's his hometown. He
grew up in the Sherwood Park area. I don't know
if we have this shot for after the clip, Ryan,
but there was shots on Twitter of assembled friends and family,
hons of them at at the Oilers game last night
(34:00):
against the Cannucks. But here's Braiden Coots this clip. We've
got it, Derek, I believe we got only there's the
shot there. There you go, Rick, anybody you know there? Oh,
there's Braiden right in the front.
Speaker 5 (34:09):
I can see the guide to his left, his brother
that maybe the one on the right, but just a
lot of family and friends. I looked at the picture
of the kid. The kid in the blue behind him
is definitely his brother. They look like twins. But anyways,
the point is this is family and friends Edmonton.
Speaker 3 (34:25):
Last night.
Speaker 5 (34:26):
Everybody came out to see him. Donnie and the kid
scores a goal in front of all family, and friends.
Speaker 4 (34:31):
Good good for him. You know it sticks out from
me here? Is that all black seats. There's there's no
burgundy leftovers now in Ebonton, so that's very special. Okay,
so this is Braiden Coots last night gets the goal.
This is Braiden On playing Sunday in Ebonton, his hometown.
Speaker 3 (34:48):
Yeah, I was cool.
Speaker 8 (34:49):
I watched a lot of games here growing up, even
getting able to play against some of their top guys
that I watched a lot, and obviously had to have
a good bit of family and friends here. So it's
pretty cool to hear hear the chair. What do you
think of the team's effort tonight, especially in that third
period as you guys kind of fought back.
Speaker 4 (35:04):
That was really good.
Speaker 8 (35:05):
They had, like I said, a lot of their line
up in their really good team. You know, we had
a bit some of the younger guys and we fought
really hard. I thought we kind of took over that
third period and almost you know, got its overtime.
Speaker 4 (35:16):
But yeah, it was a good push.
Speaker 3 (35:18):
Are you feeling your confidence and comfort just building this
team game after game?
Speaker 8 (35:22):
Yeah, for sure, you feel more comfortable as you play
with them. I mean you get to know the guys.
More feels more normal than you know, like, oh, I'm
in the NHL kind of thing. It's like feels more normal,
and yeah, it gets more easier each game.
Speaker 4 (35:35):
Pretty impressive kid. Impressive doing the interview there. Not that
that really matters to a lot of people except for us,
but I thought he was impressive.
Speaker 5 (35:42):
He's hard, he's so likable, so mature and so like
he carries himself like a veteran dog and yet he's
an eighteen year old kid in a NHL camp.
Speaker 4 (35:53):
Very impressive. Joey Cameron had a really good tweet yesterday,
but I want to mention this as well. Do you
wish every player, if you're a Knuck fan, every player
in that Vancouver roster brings it like he? For sure?
What does it doesn't matter if it's preseason, you know,
maybe we'll see him in the playoffs, regular season, whatever
the case may be. But through what three games, fifteen hits,
(36:17):
you know, fourteen shot attempts, twenty one minutes of ice
time last night in Edmonton, I just I love watching
that guy.
Speaker 5 (36:25):
Play his last name and Donny, he's a UFA. Like
if I'm the Canucks, I get to this guy sooner
than the later, because he's not going to stop getting
eight hits per game.
Speaker 4 (36:34):
Okay, we're good, little read here, and then we go
to break. Are you in a good mood today? You're
it just looks like that sucking over there? Me.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
No, I'm just doing some things, okay, moving and shaking.
Speaker 4 (36:48):
All right. October ninth our title sponsor. Oh yeah, October
ninth significant because.
Speaker 3 (36:56):
Auction coming up.
Speaker 4 (36:57):
Well, the Kaduck's season over. Oh the Canucks season o yeah, yeah, absolutely,
but also October ninth, and by the way, October ninth,
nineteen seventy first, every game, it's the only game.
Speaker 3 (37:08):
I got a beef with that. By the way, Oh,
you you preseasons ridiculous, Man, it's another week and a
half before, Like what do we do? You know why?
Speaker 4 (37:19):
Ryan?
Speaker 3 (37:19):
Oh, it's just it's a schedule. Trim it down. I know,
and I know they are. I know they are more
about the other end.
Speaker 4 (37:25):
Like I agree with you, yes, that that way it
would end sooner.
Speaker 3 (37:28):
Like look at they have the Milford Golf Tournament right
on that Monday. The training camp didn't open for like
another week and a bit again, a bunch of dead time.
Then you have all they have five days.
Speaker 4 (37:38):
Off PA and NHLPA consideration.
Speaker 3 (37:41):
I know, but I know. We just hear Adam Foot
every second sentence he's talking about the condemned schedule. Well,
why didn't they start this thing? It's just I don't know.
Speaker 4 (37:49):
Trim the fat change? Well, right, I know, I know
you can plain, and I agree with you. But let's
go back a few years. It was eleven and a
twelve game preseason. Ridiculous. They knew who was gonna be
other than a couple of spots.
Speaker 5 (38:03):
It's going down to there wasn't much gonna go down down,
I think. But they're gonna add regular season games on the.
Speaker 3 (38:09):
Other end, right, which I don't really agree with. But
you're poison.
Speaker 4 (38:12):
Yeah, well we've been there before.
Speaker 3 (38:14):
No, I know, but like, do we need it? Do
we really need two more games?
Speaker 4 (38:19):
Which one do you want?
Speaker 3 (38:20):
What do you want?
Speaker 4 (38:20):
I want? If you want a shorter preseason, Look at
they're not gonna They're not gonna reduce their revenue. They're
gonna add add those games.
Speaker 3 (38:28):
To the I know, I know, I get it. I
luck with that. I get it. It's revenue. Can I
get back to October ninth?
Speaker 4 (38:33):
Here? Yeah, October ninth able Oxs will sell the contents
of a closed Langley metal fabrication shop. You've been excited
about this rick, Oh and it closed Burnaby day Spa
at the fab shop, forklift, pickup truck, welders, gantry, crane
and more at the day spa. I gotta look into this.
(38:54):
A body slimming laser, A body slimming laser, body sculpting
equipment right.
Speaker 3 (39:01):
Oh? Can I beat this.
Speaker 4 (39:08):
Well? A dozen electric massage tables.
Speaker 3 (39:11):
Oh boy, where's I don't see the massage table.
Speaker 4 (39:14):
Oh, just envision it. Okay, A dozen electric massage tables
and a lot more. You get your body slimming laser
sculpting equipment electric. That's a party. Oh, this is a
great time forty the neighbors. For information on these two

team on check. Just before we get to Big Rye,
(39:56):
the quitter guy something we failed to mention earlier in
the show. You and I were at the game, the
Lions game beating the argo Is on Friday. You left early,
but not before the Lions made a real significant announcement.
Because of the World Cup being played or some games
being played at BC Place, the Lions will play a
(40:19):
preseason game in Langford and will be playing two regular
season games in Colonna. There's the tweet the Apple Bowl.
Speaker 5 (40:30):
And Donnie, I do believe they're gonna get seventeen thousand,
but I also do believe Standard might take it up
another couple of thousand. So look, this is about revenue,
regular season, and they went to the place that they
could get the most attendance. That's just common sense, and
they found it in Colonna.
Speaker 4 (40:50):
And meanwhile, I would say most people would agree things
have been very successful over in the Islands. Still gonna
taste of that with the preseason game in Langford, Big Rye.
Speaker 3 (41:01):
It's just again the Lions just crushing it, like what
the Argos did. We talked about this a bit on Friday.
Speaker 4 (41:07):
Saskatchewan.
Speaker 3 (41:08):
You're playing home games in Winnipeg and Saskatchewan. You tell
me there's not It's just stupid exactly in Ontario, Hamilton something,
Well they're playing one of the games is in Hamilton.
Speaker 5 (41:19):
Okay, they're home games, which that I get that adversity
of Toronto, right or Hamilton or whatever.
Speaker 3 (41:25):
Or take it somewhere. You're like, Donnie's right, you can't
find an area in Ontario because look at the Lions
are able to you know, pop these things up, do
makeshift like add on to facilities if they have to
or whatever. Just weak by the argos, but they don't care.
They got their partnership with the bills now. Anyway, they're
they're chilling MLS E. They're they're fine with that. But
great on a mardom and just fantastic stuff. Okay, big
(41:49):
ride on the Twitter guy. First of all, we got
a boatload for whatever reason over the weekend, tons of photos.
This is from I think it's Dolly Wall's good buddy,
Sean Flannery. He sent us a photo outside of Manchester
Manchester United game Old Trafford and they were.
Speaker 4 (42:03):
Taking on your team, donnye Chelsea.
Speaker 3 (42:06):
So Sean with the D and D T shirt over

Speaker 3 (42:20):
There you go, Shawn, he graduated, is traveling the world
and you are out well leaving BC Lions games early.
Stop it you graduate barely. I mean you know you
got a diploma right.
Speaker 5 (42:32):
Me and Moje had to give the teachers a case
of beer to get the march to get through.
Speaker 3 (42:37):
So thank you to Sean from New West. He's officially
a good guys put here, so appreciate that photo. One
other photo, another loyal loyal viewer of ours is Ocean
Park Nancy. Nancy tweeted this to us. My grandson Daniel
and I at the SyRI Eagles game yesterday afternoon. I
think she said this to us yesterday, so I think
it would have been Saturday, I believe over the weekend,
(42:57):
Sirri Eagles game.
Speaker 5 (42:58):
So Sure Eagles have Donny and you'll load this nice uniforms.
That green just pops. It just pops when you go
to a Sure Eagles game. I go anyways and leave early,
just stop if the traffic is too much in this
raining Yes, I leave her.
Speaker 4 (43:14):
At a Surre Eagle Eagles game, you leave her a little.
Speaker 5 (43:17):
If it's seven one, seven to I'll leave early done traffic.
You guys act like I'm the only guy on planet
that leaves the sporting event early. No, thousands of people
leave early. Anyways, this is a great photo Ocean Park.
Nancy a big supporter of ours. What a beautiful photo
with their grands.
Speaker 4 (43:34):
And she often will get and she works at a
grocery store. I from not mistake she there's a liquor store.
Speaker 5 (43:40):
No, she works at a liquor store.
Speaker 4 (43:42):
Did you leave there early? She will often get celebrities come.
Remember she Yes, she's a I forget who Microno.
Speaker 5 (43:49):

John Cooper that's what it was. That was Cooper Reno. Yeah,
she works at the White White Rock liquor store.
Speaker 4 (43:58):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (43:59):
The Eagles have had a start of the year. They're
winless so far to start. Yes, yes, yes, but they'll
try and turn it around. Okay, Donny, you touched on
this earlier in the show, but we didn't show it visually.
So over the yesterday actually Game one sixty two, the
Blue Jays clinching in Ali's victory. Good for them, that's fine.
Look at the scene from their locker room. This is
courtesy Kegan Matheson. They installed a damn disco ball and
(44:24):
full on like light show, like it looks like a
Vegas nightclub. I mean, like, what's wrong with that?
Speaker 9 (44:30):
This is out of control, folks. They've all they've done
is clinched the division. They could get swept in the DS.
I mean, like, I just this is out of control.
How do you talk this? Then let's say they win it.
God forbid if they win it, because the coverage of
them winning.
Speaker 3 (44:48):
A world series will just be you want to see
anchors weep on the air, You will see it.
Speaker 4 (44:52):
So how do they talk that make the big trade? Yes, yeah,
it's history and it would be maybe mentioned at the.
Speaker 3 (44:59):
End as the credits are rolling. By the way, Quinn
he's out of Vancouver. More on the Jays, like how
my thing is is how do you ramp up the celebrations?
Look at if you want to pop champagne and beers. Again,
I don't just I don't agree with it.
Speaker 4 (45:11):
They love it, but they love the fact that no
other sport does, I guess. And it's one hundred and
sixty two game if you want to call it grind,
So it's a little bit different, but it's it's a
tradition in baseball, and they could care less when anybody
thinks to them, you are you are right? What happens
with the next song?
Speaker 3 (45:30):
Right?
Speaker 4 (45:31):
Does John Travolta show up the Beg's?
Speaker 5 (45:34):
They better have been playing the Beg's in the background.
Speaker 3 (45:36):
I'm gonna guess they weren't.
Speaker 4 (45:37):
They're probably playing bad Bunny Stayed Alive.
Speaker 5 (45:40):
Oh, great song, great song and John Travolta Saturday Night Fever.
It was the best. But I'm with Ryan, this is ridiculous.
I mean, he does Tom Brady talk about kidding Rich right?
Rich Brady talk about clinching or six Super Bowl exackly?
Speaker 3 (45:59):
Jack, I'll take like if the Jays, let's say they
get swept in the DS ten years from now, nobody's
gonna remember this team.
Speaker 4 (46:08):
I don't know if anybody's gonna remember.
Speaker 3 (46:10):
Probably not. I just thought it's it's it's out of
controls just over the top again. I did it. It's fun.
What happened, Donny? How do you ramping it up?
Speaker 4 (46:20):
It's just a baseball thing, and I know it is
sports fans can relate to it, right, but it's fun.
If you're in their aid, well, you are their age.
I don't know what You're not like an old man.
Speaker 3 (46:31):
But I am. I would hate this, no, because I'm
an old man. You sit there, I would be like
this is too loud for.
Speaker 4 (46:37):
Me exactly, and you would be, well, imagine what you
would be.
Speaker 3 (46:41):
Like, Yeah, well this is Keegan who's a media member.
Blue Media is a lot posted this.
Speaker 4 (46:45):
Yeah, the media is probably the ones set it up well.
Speaker 3 (46:49):
And by the way, look we have somebody unsigned in
the base side inbox. Do the Mariners not celebrate? Yeah,
all the teams do it. This this is exclusive. I
haven't seen teams do it to this extent. This disco
ball stuff pressed like this is insane, but yeah, no,
the Mariners did it. The Mariners did it back to
back nights. They clinched the playoffs and then they clinched
the division and they did it. And I don't really get
it because the music. Yeah, but you're just doing your job.
(47:11):
You're just clinching a playoff spot, like you've done your job.
Speaker 5 (47:14):
Over the top, go win the world. Yes this series?
Speaker 4 (47:19):
Yes, Okay, everybody says that, And if they were on
that team or part of that organization, they'd be right
in there. Maybe maybe dancing to Saturday Night Fever. I
will say, like I'm the best openings to a movie
ever with the.
Speaker 5 (47:32):
Paint can Ohn Travolta is the best.
Speaker 3 (47:37):
How are you surprised by that?
Speaker 4 (47:38):
I don't know.
Speaker 3 (47:38):
I've seen Greece, which he's in.
Speaker 4 (47:40):
This fact that you've seen Greece with John Travolta.
Speaker 3 (47:43):
Greece is a class happen.
Speaker 4 (47:45):
Saturday Night Fever is a much better movie. It's not
a musical for one thing, so that makes it.
Speaker 3 (47:48):
Oh yeah, you hate this Saturday Fever.
Speaker 4 (47:50):
Though everybody thinks it's dancing, it's part. It's a dark movie.
Speaker 3 (47:53):
Really.
Speaker 5 (47:53):
Yeah, so you you've seen Greece, but you haven't seen
slap Shot.
Speaker 3 (47:58):
I've seen slap Shot, but He's I've seen, but I
haven't seen it to the extent you've seen it like
you've seen it nine. I know, I know. I'm traveling
on the bus with the boys. I haven't seen it
that much. But anyway, I was gonna talk ryder Cup too,
but we're out of time. I'm gonna do that later
in the show because there was a lot time back
with the ryder.
Speaker 4 (48:17):
Cup happen the beer Someone's wife.
Speaker 3 (48:20):
Yeah, that's a new low U. But up next we
got to load on eleven o'clock hour. Jamie mcclennan's up
next to all things Canucks Hockey and Bob Lennerdoozy on
the white Caps who draw on the weekend against the
Sounders and a big one Wednesday night Canadian Championship. So

Jamie mcclennan, thanks for doing this, sir.
Speaker 3 (49:29):
How are you not too bad?
Speaker 10 (49:31):
How are you guys doing today?
Speaker 3 (49:32):
Very well.
Speaker 4 (49:32):
I've got some viewer mail which is directed to you.
This is from Murray. He wants us to ask you
this question. I've often wondered why goalies scraped the ice
in front of their nets when the ice has just
been prepared, recoded at the start of every period. I
think everybody at some stage of their life has asked
(49:54):
this question, Jamie. What can you tell Murray?
Speaker 11 (49:57):
So a lot of times the fresh ice it's very clean,
so you can overslide if you scrape it up a
little bit.
Speaker 10 (50:06):
It gives you a little bit of traction within the crease.
Speaker 11 (50:08):
And especially nowadays now you see these are old weather
pads that I've got here behind me. Nowadays they have
like plastic on the inside that will actually you know,
drive you and you'll slide and overslide. So giving you
a little bit of traction within the crease, you know,
just chopping it up a bit makes you feel like
(50:28):
you can bite a little bit more within the crease.
Speaker 4 (50:31):
Yeah, more control, Okay. A sad note I mean, what
a time for goaltenders. Jamie ed Jockomin leaves us, Ken
Dryden leaves us and Bernie Parrant as well at the
age of eighty. I'm not sure how much you remember him.
I think you were born in the early seventies if
I'm not mistaken, But I remember watching him Jamie as
(50:51):
a kid, and I think he was the best, with
all due respect to everybody, maybe the best stand up
goaltender I've ever seen. How about the stand How would
a stand up goaltender fair? Because you don't see him
anymore in today's NHL.
Speaker 11 (51:07):
Yeah, I mean, honestly, like I I think of Ken Dryden,
who was my idol growing up, and then I got
an opportunity to meet him, and it was weird. One
time I was being you know, recruited by Cornell University
and my mom, you know, leaves this message like this
Ken Dryden.
Speaker 10 (51:23):
Called the house.
Speaker 11 (51:24):
I'm like, you know, that's Ken Dryden, like the legend.
So anyways, you know, the stand up goaltender would not
fare very well because if you look at it, eighty
percent or more of the shots are on the ice
now or side to side got on the ice, So
you know, guys shoot the puck very hard, very accurately. Now,
(51:46):
but in tight everything in that ten foot radius, goaltenders
are down used the butterfly. So I was taught and
even early on in the National Hockey League. I was
born in nineteen seventy one, so yes, I grew up
with the dryden, you know, right at the tail end thing.
But I was taught even at the National Hockey League
level when I was twenty years old, stay on your feet,
(52:06):
hug your post.
Speaker 3 (52:08):
You know.
Speaker 11 (52:08):
Nowadays we are seeing a return a little bit to
what I call goaltenders holding their edges, because guys are
so good at picking up top now. So what they're
doing is goalies are staying up and trying to get
their shoulders onto it. But a lot of times the
default position is butterfly, shoulders square to the puck and
(52:28):
take away kind of. Now, goalies are six foot four enough,
a lot of them are six five sixty six, so
their shoulders can actually cover the top of the net
even when they're down. Players are trying to shoot around
them now, so the stand up goaltender would not fare
very well. But I will tell you this. In two
thousand and four, I remember playing the La Kings in
(52:50):
at the Saddle Dome. I was playing for the Calgary
Flames of the time, and somebody went to take a
slap shot from center ice to dump it in, and
they took a slap shot and I stood up and
I kicked it to the corner and coming back was
Robin Rigee, my defenseman, and he screamed old school goaltending
and was laughing about it because I just basically stood
(53:10):
up and make a skate save. Nobody makes skates saves anymore,
so that's the last stand up goaltending save.
Speaker 10 (53:18):
I remember put it that way, Jamie.
Speaker 5 (53:21):
This time last year, we had zero idea about Thatcher
Dempko and his injuries, and here he was last night
and neverton play the complete game played forty minutes before.
Is how good and positive is it that he's coming
to the preseason look good, great, saving the third highlight
reel save and how good is it that? What are
(53:41):
you seeing from him? Are you happy?
Speaker 4 (53:43):
So far?
Speaker 10 (53:44):
Very happy?
Speaker 11 (53:44):
I've seen both games he's played, not much chance going
for him, and the goals last night, you know they
twenty nine and ninety seven decided to show up a
little bit. But ultimately I think this is amazing. I
don't know where Peterson is at. If he could regain
some form ninety percent of what we saw a couple
(54:06):
of years ago. You know, Jake Debrusk has another big season.
We know what Quinn Hughes is capable of. The Vancouver
Canucks can get back to where they were a couple
of years ago. Knocking on wood. But if thatcher Demko
can stay healthy, I think he's terrific. You guys know
how much I love him.
Speaker 4 (54:25):
I am.
Speaker 11 (54:26):
I'm actually you know, we have this segment coming up
on TSN. I'm actually taping it here in an hour.
One of my wild takes is that thatcher Demko will
win the VESNA, And I don't that's a why to
think of. But I mean, if he's healthy, he's one
of the best on the planet. That's how good he is.
So you know, at the end of the day, you know,
I knock on wood for him. It's been a long
(54:48):
road back, but he's looked really good in both games.
You're gonna allow goals. I don't care about the outcome
of a preseason game where they draft half their roster
on on the road game, so be it. But what
I liked about him. He looked very comfortable. He looks
like the Thatcher Demko. He's moving well, he's battling in
the net. He doesn't look like he's thinking the game.
(55:09):
A lot of times when he came back, it looked
like he was a bit ginger, thinking can I push here?
Can I do that?
Speaker 10 (55:14):
Is my body going to allow it?
Speaker 11 (55:16):
I haven't seen that in the first you know, we'll
call it one hundred minutes here of the preseason. You
mentioned two periods in a full game last night, but
fingers crossed. But that's how big of a bar or
how high of a bar I've set for Thatcher Demco,
and I think Vancouver fans should be excited about the
potential of him being healthy this year.
Speaker 5 (55:36):
Absolutely nightmare situation in Florida. Barkoff injured out seven to
nine months, like Jamie, I mean, it was just an
innocent looking play. I mean, for that to happen to
one of the best centers in the National Hockey League
just crushing for Florida.
Speaker 10 (55:52):
It really is. And you know it'll test their depth.
Speaker 11 (55:55):
I know that you've got Sam Bennett there, You've got Lundell,
who's really a two instead of a three. Rodriguez is
gonna slide into three. But like Paul Maurice said, and
I loved how what Paul Maurice said in his media
he said, like, we're not We're gonna feel sorry for us,
for ourselves for one day and we're gonna pick ourselves
up and we're gonna go play hockey and see who's
gonna cover up and you know, kind of next man up.
(56:18):
There's no replacing Sasha Barkoff. What you do is you
do it by committee. And the Florida Panthers have tremendous
depth and we'll see what they, you know, bring to
the table. Matthew ka Chuck's injury is obviously a spot
like thing because you know, what time has he scheduled
me back? Is it December January type of thing. And
(56:38):
now you've got Barkoff. Those are two top line players
at worse, maybe top six if you think, you know,
Ku Chuck plays in the second line.
Speaker 10 (56:46):
But that's a big blow to the Florida Panthers.
Speaker 11 (56:49):
Not to mention, they've gone to the Cup final three
years in a row, so they might, you know, have
a little bit of versity because they're not gonna have
an easy night everyone's playing for the Cup every night
against them, But that's a team that's still has a
lot of weapons, So I wouldn't count them out, but
certainly count them weakened without Barkoff and Jamie very quickly.
Speaker 4 (57:08):
If you don't mind Lane Hudson of the halves. He
doesn't make TSNSE top fifty a player list doesn't get
invited to a team USA's orientation camp for the Olympics.
Is he getting enough respect?
Speaker 3 (57:23):
No?
Speaker 11 (57:23):
And I had him on my top fifty list. But
you know the problem is is they don't post who
puts the lists out.
Speaker 10 (57:30):
I think there's twenty of us that do it. They should.
Speaker 11 (57:34):
We should actually buy because I vote for League awards
and those are transparent, you know, so people give me
heck on Twitter saying hey, you missed this guy or
he did this and that. If we made our votes transparent,
some people would probably lose their voting license, some of them.
But I don't think he's getting enough respect from that.
But watch, he's going to go and get eighty two
(57:54):
points this year and he won't be left off any lists.
So I think it's only from the lack of Maybe
I wouldn't say exposure because he plays in Montreal. But
maybe the lack of sample size. You have one year
of what he's capable of doing. He's a special player.
He's never going to be left off a list moving forward.
I don't think.
Speaker 4 (58:12):
God bless Ken Dryden ed, Jockerman and Bernie proNT and
Jamie thanks so much for doing this, sir.
Speaker 3 (58:17):
We appreciate it. We'll talk in a couple of weeks.
Speaker 10 (58:20):
Absolutely, guys, thanks for having me.
Speaker 4 (58:21):

Rick guy than him of j T. Miller suffers an
injury that looks pretty serious.
Speaker 5 (58:38):
Yeah, right there at Donnie. So that's him on the
right there, yep. And you know what obviously looks like
a knee.
Speaker 3 (58:44):
That's j T.
Speaker 5 (58:45):
Miller getting up slowly. That's he just got named captain
for crying out loud. That does not look good, folks,
That does not look good. Donnie during the power play drill.
What is it with these guys? Bark off Miller hurting
a practice like, my goodness.
Speaker 4 (58:58):

CPL for the Canadian Championship. The white Caps looking for
their fourth Voyagers Cup Interrow Championship General in a row.
The Caps drew two to two in Seattle to clinch
(01:00:45):
their eighth Cascadia Cup. They're they're piling up the.
Speaker 5 (01:00:49):
Cup, cups, cups everywhere, cup triumphs, cups.
Speaker 4 (01:00:51):
Their next MLS match Sunday at BC Place against San Jose.
Believe that is they have three matches left. I believe
that's a three o'clock start at BC Place, which will
be hopping this weekend because the Lions play. Lions play
a big game against the Calgary of course on Saturday,
second Place online in the one. All those teams Winnipeg, Calgary,
(01:01:14):
the BC Lions all with sixteen points. Okay we got
Bob now, Okay, Okay again white Caps against vancer REFC
Wednesday at BC plays Canadian Championship final and joining us
how to talk about that in all matters White Cap
Club Laison of the white Caps, Bob Leonard Douzie, thanks
for doing this, sir, How are you.
Speaker 1 (01:01:36):
I am good, thank you? How are the both of you?
Speaker 4 (01:01:38):
Lovely? Very well? Can you venture to guess how motivated
that I know the white Caps will be, but how
motivated that Vanka reVC team is going to be on Wednesday?
Speaker 1 (01:01:49):
Bob, Well, this would be I don't want to suggest
their season, but they likely will be, given that they're
down in the stands standings in CBL. But and then
also there's the Martin Nash factor that he is the
coach of the team, took on the job recently and
(01:02:10):
they've had a bit of a turnaround under him. So
and there's a number of former white Caps academy players
that are also playing with Vancouver FC. So yeah, this
is a game for them that they have everything to
gain and nothing to lose, which is the opposite for.
Speaker 4 (01:02:30):
Us.
Speaker 1 (01:02:30):
And that you know, the expectation is that we will win.
Speaker 4 (01:02:34):
Okay. I got to take you back to December of Bob.
White Caps up for sale. At the time, no head coach,
criticism in the market, there was talk of them moving,
and now at this point, not that long later, Vancouver
looks like the model franchise of Major League soccer. Your
head must be spinning. What the heck happened.
Speaker 1 (01:02:58):
Well, I think the first domino to fall would be
would be Yes Brols and the higher the hiring of
of him and coming in the day that the team
were leaving for preseason to Spain, having a press conference
(01:03:20):
here and then off he goes. So it was a
baptism by fire for him. And along the way there
there have been, you know times where the way the
team started, uh and could that be sustained throughout the
whole season? There were some there was some moments where
(01:03:41):
he really needed to to delve into his toolbox and
figure out how to turn that around. There weren't many
of them, but the one that I think is the
most significant are just the injuries. The fact that sam Atkubi,
in his third game, who's looking like the best player
in MLS, hasco two goals, goes down with the season
(01:04:02):
ending injury. A couple of weeks later, you've got Ryan
Gold doing the same thing and he's ideally he will
be back before the end of the season, which will
be huge. And then you've got the potentially one of
the two could be the MLS Defender of the Year
Blackman and Vesselinovitch and Blackman could be back, but Vesselenovitch
(01:04:25):
suffered a a season ending injury, So you have all
of that, and then you have a spell where we
lose two games on the trot three nil and three
nil to Colorado and La Galaxy, who are at the
bottom of the table. So all of those things, yesper
seems to just be able to shrug it off, get
(01:04:47):
on with it. And the other thing that he's done,
which is I love given that I'm from this city,
is the opportunity for the young academy kids to get
their chances, and specifically Jeeven Budwell who's come in scored
a goal and not let the team down at all.
In fact, looks like a very very good player and
(01:05:08):
he's only going to get better. And then more recently
Ryan Lowamie who is from Alberta but comes on in
a game and scores his first goal within minutes of
getting on the pitch. So everything is coming together and
the run in has been has been great up to now.
We've we've got our destiny in our own hands. By
(01:05:30):
if we run out the table and the last three games,
we will be in top spot in the West and
potentially in in a in a battle for that supporter
shield with Philadelphia. So I mean all of that suggests
that that Yesper's come in and it's not just yes,
but it's Axel and his team for bringing in the
(01:05:52):
players that that have shown they're capable of playing even
in times of adversity.
Speaker 4 (01:05:58):
Yeah, more on Espersar instance, if you don't mind. So
what is it exactly he does well as a coach?
Is it is it about his tactics, motivation? What does
he got going for him?
Speaker 1 (01:06:09):
I think he's got everything going for him. And you know,
something as simple as what he did after we lost
in La and towards the end of the match, Jaden
Nelson took a yellow card that was his second in
that game and meant that he'd be out for the
next game. And after the match, Yesper was honest in
his in his opinion of that and saying, you know,
(01:06:32):
it's it's a I think he said stupid about five
or six times about that particular incident. And I'm sure
that he talked to Jaden prior to that, not too
embarrass him, but it's one of those where that kind
of thing, it may seem like a minute point at
the end of a game, he gets sent off, But
it's it's discipline and that's what's required to have the
(01:06:53):
success that we've had. And his his willingness to adapt to,
you know, whatever the other team throws at us. He
has the mindset to try and alter whatever. His initial
game plan was to actually provide the opportunity for the
(01:07:14):
team to get back in a game if in fact
they're down. So he has it all and just just
his manner. I love it. I think that he's a
coach that what you see is what you get. There's
nothing overly fancy about him, but I think he's honest,
and he's honest in situations where perhaps most coaches wouldn't be.
Speaker 3 (01:07:34):
Bobby.
Speaker 5 (01:07:34):
There are signings in all cities. There's big ones, medium, small,
But Thomas Mueller was a Grand Slam. What has he
meant since he has come over and boys a treat
to watch?
Speaker 3 (01:07:47):
Well?
Speaker 1 (01:07:47):
I mean, his stats have already suggested that he set
the ground running, and he's had to score three penalties,
I think, in two consecutive games, which is never easy
because it provides a bit of an opportunity for the
opposing goalkeeper to figure out what you're doing. So you
really have to be callous in a situation like that,
and he's done it. The ball that he played for
(01:08:09):
Brian White on the weekend that allowed us to score
the first goal in Seattle was a ball that that
type of player can play, and not everyone can do that.
So the other thing about him is just his willingness
to do whatever he needs to do aside from what
he's doing on the pitch, in the community. And he's
(01:08:31):
just so accommodating. Right from the time you heard him
in his first press conference, you knew that the guy
was coming here not just to play the game, but
to also use his global status to help sell the club.
And obviously it's paying off. We've had three consecutive sellouts
(01:08:52):
at BC Place. So just an absolute treat. There's a
lot of players in his shoes, and you know there's
some that have come in and then don't want to
bother with anything other than what's done on the pitch.
This guy is totally the opposite of that and is
a is is just a treat to have here and
to see what he does to help elevate the.
Speaker 5 (01:09:12):
Fort Bobby, one of the most impressive things about the
white Caps is is the injury list is long, and
they keep winning and collecting points. But Ryan Gauld, that's
one of the more impressive things. You're you're winning and
tied for first in the Western Conference without this guy.
You know what's gonna happen when he comes back.
Speaker 1 (01:09:32):
Well, he's gonna need a bit of a transition back
into the squad, and that's why it's it's great that
that he will be able to get some minutes in
before the actual playoffs start. So yes, absolutely, I think
I alluded to it earlier. When he goes down that
early in the season, there's some real concerns about the
(01:09:52):
rest of the season. Well, and but he's still a
big miss so he's gonna ideally take us to another level.
And now he's got someone like Thomas Muoler to match
up within the middle of the park to enhance our creativity.
Speaker 4 (01:10:08):
Okay, but thanks for this. Just one other question. I
was at the Lions game on Friday with Rick. He
left the game with three minutes left, very close game.
When you were watching Columbus FC back in the day
at Old Callister Park in English as a young young
Bob Leonard, did you ever leave a game early?
Speaker 1 (01:10:27):
Never?
Speaker 5 (01:10:28):
There you go, Bob, Bob, I had to catch the
sky trade.
Speaker 1 (01:10:32):
I don't care. You don't catch the sky train, you
find another way home.
Speaker 4 (01:10:36):
Here you go.
Speaker 3 (01:10:37):
Caducks were playing, there's forty thousand people. No, out of
that matter.
Speaker 1 (01:10:43):
Don't leave a game early.
Speaker 3 (01:10:45):
Absolutely, it was over.
Speaker 4 (01:10:46):
They were gonna win.
Speaker 3 (01:10:47):
You gotta make the call.
Speaker 1 (01:10:49):
Yeah, don't care, don't care.
Speaker 4 (01:10:51):
Absolutely, Bang on, Bob, Thanks for this, Good luck Wednesday
and then the rest of the season. What is Jesus
it's been.
Speaker 1 (01:10:57):
Thanks so much, Thanks very much, Bye, guys.
Speaker 4 (01:10:59):

Instagram at Whistler Golf. Oh, bad Bunny. What did you

Speaker 5 (01:12:30):
Bugs Bunny? The only bunny I know is bugs Bunny.
Speaker 4 (01:12:32):
Bad Bunny will headline the Super Bowl Halftime show February
eighth at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara. Earlier in the show,
I said it's a January story. It's a February story. Actually,
he's a Puerto Rican superstar Eric. He's fresh off a
historic Puerto Rican residency that drew more than half a
million fans. He's become the world one of the world's
(01:12:54):
most streamed artists. He's gonna host Saturday Night Live. Oh
October fourth, one years old. He has won three Grammys,
twelve Latin Grammys. Has become a global ambassador for Latin music.
He's starred in movies. He's an actor as well. Oh really,
multiple movies Gilmore, including Happy Gilmour Too and I don't
think it was his fault that that was a dud.
(01:13:16):
Also collaborated with top fashion houses and by the way,
last year, Kendrick Lamar set a record at the Super
Bowl for most watched Super Bowl Halftime show, surpassing Michael
Jackson one hundred and thirty three and a half million viewers.
Brilliant move by the National Football League.
Speaker 5 (01:13:35):
Are you serious when you say brilliant movie? The fact
that I had to google Bad Bunny and you don't know.
Speaker 4 (01:13:40):
You're not the target, We're not the target audience.
Speaker 3 (01:13:42):
I don't care.
Speaker 5 (01:13:43):
You don't know what, you don't want to know what
popped up. But anyways, that to google this guy's name,
that's ridiculous. It's ridiculous when I have to google somebody's
name to know and their Super Bowl halftime show.
Speaker 4 (01:13:54):
Did you know you already just said one of the
world's most success.
Speaker 5 (01:13:57):
And I had to google him. I don't know who
this is and why is he? Why is his name
bad Bunny? Is there something a backstory?
Speaker 4 (01:14:04):
We'll look into that. But now it's you're you're going
after You've got You've got guys that you and me
are gonna watch. Bryan is gonna watch. The hardcore sports
fans are watching. This brings in a whole new market,
people who are into Latin music. People aren't necessarily into
old school rock and roll like us. They've done this
the last few years. Jay Z's in charge.
Speaker 5 (01:14:25):
I'm I'm all for it. Oh you know what I'm
doing at the halftime show? Done leading early taking, No,
taking the dog for a walk. I've got scheduled right now,
halftime show, walk the dog.
Speaker 4 (01:14:36):
The NFL will be okay with that? Are you into
Kendrick Lamar?
Speaker 5 (01:14:40):
No, I have no idea.
Speaker 4 (01:14:41):
One hundred and thirty three and a half million people watch, Okay,
I get I'm with you.
Speaker 3 (01:14:46):
It's not you know, it's not it's not my cup
of tea. There you go.
Speaker 4 (01:14:50):
But I understand what they're doing. I don't trying to
get everybody in.
Speaker 5 (01:14:54):
Go get Bruce Springsteen, they get get John Cougar, the
deaf uppard, get somebody that out.
Speaker 4 (01:15:02):
I think they should get at least once. Come on
before get get ac.
Speaker 5 (01:15:06):
DC, ac DC all Come on, man, Oh, you shook
me all night long.
Speaker 3 (01:15:11):
I would I would watch that for hours hours.
Speaker 5 (01:15:15):
I'm not watching this guy, bad Bunny.
Speaker 4 (01:15:17):
You got birthdays?
Speaker 5 (01:15:18):
Yeah, I got birthdays. And I'll tell you one whose
birthday is not today? Is bad Bunny?
Speaker 4 (01:15:24):
What if it is?
Speaker 3 (01:15:25):
No?
Speaker 5 (01:15:26):
No, I wouldn't have thought of him as a famous guy.
Speaker 4 (01:15:28):
What is to day today? Twenty September twenty.
Speaker 3 (01:15:31):
Ninth, five birthdays?
Speaker 5 (01:15:32):
Brought to you by Little Rickey's Car, Washington Casino in
malawaukie Quebec. Artwork courtesy of j Pack and Mission. One

Speaker 3 (01:15:53):
It, Donny got it? Okay.
Speaker 5 (01:15:55):
This guy was the youngest player in league history to
win the NBA scoring title in two thousand and nine,
two thousand and ten, back to back NBA championships in
twenty seventeen, twenty eighteen with Golden State. What are you
guys doing?
Speaker 3 (01:16:08):
Both of you?
Speaker 5 (01:16:09):
Steph No The second overall in the two thousand and
seven NBA Draft by Kevin Durant.
Speaker 3 (01:16:16):
Kevin Durant, Kevin Durrant, where are you guys?
Speaker 4 (01:16:18):
Who's your head at the one season in Seattle?
Speaker 5 (01:16:20):
And you better get this point guard won three consecutive
NBA championships with the Chicago Bulls, best known for his
championship winning shot during Game six of the ninety three
NBA Finals. Come on, Donny the Bulls board number five?
Speaker 3 (01:16:42):
John first name?
Speaker 4 (01:16:44):
Why am I not getting this?
Speaker 3 (01:16:46):
P Hey call Paxton? That's it? Man? I thought you'd
get that boy? Was he good?
Speaker 4 (01:16:54):
Jo?
Speaker 5 (01:16:54):
And then he went on to me, you don't even know?
Come on, you should have had that.
Speaker 3 (01:16:57):
Okay.
Speaker 5 (01:16:58):
Canadian who became an inspired to become a Canadian comedian. Okay,
let me start a little bit. Canadian who became inspired
to become a comedian after meeting George Carlin in nineteen ninety.
Speaker 4 (01:17:12):
Russell Peters, Russell Peters, You.
Speaker 3 (01:17:14):
Get Russell Peters off of one shot? Come on man. Okay,
look at that.
Speaker 4 (01:17:18):
I just heard that story recently.
Speaker 3 (01:17:19):
I love this guy. This guy, this, this is my guy.
Speaker 5 (01:17:22):
A Brooklyn native, became the first comedian who sold out
Madison Square with the comedian sold out Madison Square Gardens
Two Knights in a Row. First got to do it.
Chris Chris Rock. Hey, Chris Rock Now.
Speaker 3 (01:17:35):
Oh well.
Speaker 5 (01:17:36):
He gained recognition for his role in the Adventures of
Ford Fair and andrewd Ice Clay, Jack and Jail Went
up the Hill. Oh, he was in Jail, Jack and Jail.
You know what I mean, Jack and Jill went up
the Hill.
Speaker 3 (01:17:50):
He was great. Andrew Ice Clay.
Speaker 4 (01:17:51):
I'll tell Andrew Dice Clay is he's a good actor.
Speaker 3 (01:17:54):
He's a good actor to Yeah, he's still acting right now.
He was in The Stars Born. Oh, he was rially good.
Speaker 4 (01:18:00):
But he was in the series which didn't last long
Vinyl Final. Yeah, that's right, HBO. I like that seriously.
Speaker 3 (01:18:06):
It was.
Speaker 4 (01:18:08):
Martin Scarsese. For some reason, it didn't work, but he
was really good in it.
Speaker 5 (01:18:12):
Oh and his stand up not for everybody, not for everybody.
Speaker 4 (01:18:17):
Remember when he hosted Saturday Night Live and some of
the cast members didn't want to do the show. I
it's so off color, right, Okay, We're good, yep?
Speaker 3 (01:18:28):
Is it just me?
Speaker 4 (01:18:29):
Is coming up? A lot of people ripping into our
poll question. We didn't include the Mariners. It's probably not
a bad suggestion. Okay. Meanwhile, the late Jerry Lee lewis
born of this day, Rick nineteen thirty five year era.
He's gonna play us out April fifty seven. This is
Jerry Lee Lewis the killer and a whole lot of
shaking going on a check. We ain't faking on a
(01:18:50):
BC Monday morning.
Speaker 3 (01:18:51):
Is it just me? He's nerd?
Speaker 4 (01:19:07):
It's just me rock and roll Rick?
Speaker 3 (01:19:09):
All right, here we go.
Speaker 5 (01:19:10):
I'm not saying Coots isn't a good prospect, but the
continued media hype is overblown. He made a past to
Mancini that I, at age seventy six, could make Bob
in Victoria. Please send him to the Miners for seasoning.
Bobby can't go to the Miners and go to junior
back Seattle Western Hockey League.
Speaker 3 (01:19:28):
It's not media hype.
Speaker 5 (01:19:29):
It's just a good story of a young kid coming
in working his ass off and he's surviving cut after
cut after cuts.
Speaker 4 (01:19:36):
He doesn't look cut a place.
Speaker 3 (01:19:36):
He doesn't look out of place. It doesn't let it go.
Speaker 5 (01:19:39):
If he plays the nine games or five or four
three two one, At the very least you have a
promising young player. He doesn't have to play for the
Canucks this year, but what he's showing is down the road.
Speaker 3 (01:19:51):
The Canucks got a beauty.
Speaker 4 (01:19:52):
Yeah, I think the story of the preseason. Other than
the way heatalist looked, he's been outstanding. If he asked me,
he's just they're young airs look good. You know their
their top prospects look good. Callen Langley?
Speaker 3 (01:20:05):
Is it just me?
Speaker 4 (01:20:06):
But has Rick or Ryan ever played a sport? Nothing
brings the team together like a good celebration, unspeakable stories,
good times. Ask Ryan and Rick if the white Caps
are allowed to celebrate Wednesday if they win the Canadian Championship.
Different cal bang on ship.
Speaker 5 (01:20:21):
That's a championship that you said the key word.
Speaker 4 (01:20:24):
If the white they won a division title, So.
Speaker 3 (01:20:27):
What do you get?
Speaker 5 (01:20:29):
What do you get at the end of the year
for one of the division titles?
Speaker 3 (01:20:31):
Like when George Springer's Springer retires, are they gonna say
X World Series Champion with the Houston Astros Division champion?
Speaker 4 (01:20:39):
But they might talk about the good time they had
that night. I have no problem with that. You've never
played sports. Last I check every other sport. Nothing gets
you more.
Speaker 5 (01:20:48):
That's the it's the lowis ring.
Speaker 3 (01:20:51):
Yeah, did play sport, though I played soccer and ball hockey.
But still I just never heard of like Rick's ray.
You never hear Tom Brady is only linked about clinching playoffs. Yeah,
you don't hear.
Speaker 4 (01:21:04):
If the boys want to party, you party.
Speaker 3 (01:21:06):
That's the way it goes. Carmon Karma.
Speaker 5 (01:21:08):
It could come back.
Speaker 4 (01:21:09):
Because they're all doing it every team.
Speaker 3 (01:21:11):
That's the thing. Go Coots.
Speaker 5 (01:21:14):
Send him back to Seattle before he gets injured. Too
small to play in one piece. Great turf prospect, but
come on, he's not physically ready. Robin Poko makes a
good point here. Uh when the bullets fly.
Speaker 4 (01:21:24):
Wh's the same point you just made two.
Speaker 5 (01:21:26):
No, that's not the same. The other guy was saying
that the media has overblown it. Rob's got a good point.
Physicality wise, Donnie, he looks small out there, like when
you watch him last night, you look small. But I'll
tell you he's not six four two twenty. When the
bullets fly and you.
Speaker 4 (01:21:40):
Know they're really Young, Well thick enough. I'm sure as
the years go by. Yeah, sure, Uh Jeff Joe.
Speaker 3 (01:21:48):
Is it just me? But at that JT.
Speaker 4 (01:21:50):
Miller injury is as bad as it looked. That just
took all the year out of the Rangers versus Cannucks game.
That's late October? Is it not right?
Speaker 3 (01:21:57):
Right?
Speaker 4 (01:21:57):
I think about that. Yeah, put that in your pipe
and smoke it. Got another Branden Koots.
Speaker 5 (01:22:05):
Well, hey, I'm gonna say it. I love Coots. I'm like,
here's another Kots one for you. I'm just kidding. I'm
gonna read this. Brandon Coots reminds me of Trevor Lindon
when he entered the lead. Now that Lyndon got thirty
goals in year one, Lyndon came here out of his
draft here different era, looked like a kid in grade ten,
and pop popped in thirty goals. And but Trevor was great.
(01:22:27):
But hey, Burnaby, Paul just like everybody else getting excited
about Coots, which is okay?
Speaker 4 (01:22:34):
Unsigned is it just me? But my first Lions game
was in nineteen seventy seven. My dad made me leave early.
Lions scored the last play to win it. Jimmy Young
catching a touchdown pass. A lesson for everyone out there,
A lesson that you haven't learned, Rick, that the CFL
is famous and good on the CFL confidence comebacks. With
(01:22:56):
that clock.
Speaker 5 (01:22:57):
I saw the fumble. I looked at the clock, and
I said, I gotta go. I hugged everybody. I shook
everyone's hand.
Speaker 4 (01:23:01):
I don't think he did.
Speaker 3 (01:23:02):
Did you really hug everybody?
Speaker 5 (01:23:04):
I give it one a hug. I gave everyone in
the suite a hug. I shaked everyone's hand. I said,
I gotta go. You got forty thousand people going to
the skytrain. I had to go by the way. Just
while you were on the subject, can we show the
photo real quick? We may as well get this one
an other way, because the reason you were in that
sweet is because of your good our good pasthah. Look
at that right there are a good pal, Brandon. You
(01:23:24):
know there is really good sweet right there. Way to
dress up, Dolly wall that What do you want? What
do you have a tuxedo?
Speaker 3 (01:23:29):
Who else is dressed up there? Tay, there's got a
collar shirt on you. Everybody was just uh casual.
Speaker 4 (01:23:35):
Now it was all good. It was a tar thanks
to Brandon.
Speaker 5 (01:23:37):
Yeah, Brandon, thank you very much. They're a really good guy.
All those guys in the most suite were great, really
good guys.
Speaker 4 (01:23:43):
What else you got?
Speaker 11 (01:23:44):
Uh?
Speaker 5 (01:23:44):
Hey, did the Canucks put anyone on waivers today? Stephen,
Delta and Donnie.
Speaker 3 (01:23:49):
Petera?
Speaker 5 (01:23:50):
The Canucks put Petera the bait mckechran and Schultz on waivers.
Get him down to Abersburg. I'm a little concerned, Donnie.
I wonder if Petero's gonna sneak through or not. The
other guys will get through. They got to go down
to Abersburg, but I'm a little worried about Paterro.
Speaker 4 (01:24:07):
We'm glad you got that in Stephen Cloverdale.
Speaker 5 (01:24:11):
Stephen Cloverdale, Delta, say, Delta, sorry you got is.
Speaker 4 (01:24:14):
Just me unsigned? But who the f is bad Buddy?
Did you submit that?
Speaker 11 (01:24:20):
No?
Speaker 4 (01:24:21):
I didn't.
Speaker 5 (01:24:22):
And Tracy and Chilliwax ripping me. But I'll tell you something.
When you got a Google bad buddy?
Speaker 3 (01:24:28):
What's his name?
Speaker 5 (01:24:28):
When you got to google who bad Bundy is? That's
not good done?
Speaker 4 (01:24:33):
Good Mount Rainier in Coquitlam.
Speaker 3 (01:24:35):
Is it just me?
Speaker 4 (01:24:37):
Or when you're out at a game with friends, you
stay until the end and then go with those friends
to a local venue and discuss the game. Not only
do you extend a rare outing with friends, but you
allow the skytrained crowd to subside. This is bang on.
I tell my kids, you know't just wait a bit
after the game's finished, soak in the atmosphere. Sometimes you'll
(01:24:58):
see a player hanging out with this family after game.
It's kind of fun and like, like Rainier says, you know,
skytrain traffic not as bad the crowd is.
Speaker 5 (01:25:08):
Back when I got on the skytrain, I couldn't sit.
Speaker 3 (01:25:11):
Well, I couldn't sit.
Speaker 4 (01:25:12):
I didn't if you waited the whole way, Okay.
Speaker 5 (01:25:16):
Okay, but that on the way down, I could sit,
and but I had to stand all the way.
Speaker 3 (01:25:21):
Because that's why I went. You can never talk about
soft people ever again.
Speaker 4 (01:25:25):
Exactly.
Speaker 5 (01:25:26):
I stood up on that skytrain for forty five minutes. Seats.
Speaker 4 (01:25:30):
You got some business you gotta go?
Speaker 3 (01:25:32):
Oh yeah, Pastime, Yeah, okay, here we go. Uh.
Speaker 5 (01:25:34):

(01:27:17):
a hotel, It's a destination. Come Sentence Day Dot poll Rick.
All right, Ryan got up the Waddling Dog po pole question,
and it is very simple. What would you rather see
the Blue Jays win the World Series or the Canucks
make the playoffs and leading no surprise Canucks playoffs. Seventy
(01:27:38):
one percent nine and thirty nine votes already, but twenty
nine percent do say the Blue.
Speaker 4 (01:27:45):
Jays Yes, and I think rightfully. So we've been criticized
for non including the Mariners in this poll. Course, I'm
gonna blame Ryan for that. We'll try to try to
do better next time. I think a poll question in
the future. I'm not gonna say likely, but possibly, who
(01:28:08):
are you pulling for in a playoff series? Jays?
Speaker 5 (01:28:12):
Come on, so could you vote for the Canadian team
last time?
Speaker 3 (01:28:17):
I checked.
Speaker 5 (01:28:17):
We're not in I surprised the state of Washington.
Speaker 3 (01:28:21):
Yeah, I mean you vote.
Speaker 4 (01:28:22):
We're not in the province of Ontario.
Speaker 5 (01:28:24):
Okay, but you are in Canada. The Blue Jays are
in Canada.
Speaker 4 (01:28:29):
But I'm closer to Seattle than I am to Toronto.
Speaker 5 (01:28:32):
I find it disturbing that people vote for the Mariners
over the Blue Jays. I just don't get it.
Speaker 4 (01:28:38):
I do. I don't. There's a lot of Toronto hate
in this market.
Speaker 3 (01:28:43):
There is.
Speaker 4 (01:28:43):
That's just the way it is.
Speaker 5 (01:28:44):
I hate a lot of Toronto stuff too, But there
you go. But but the Blue Jays are not one
of it.
Speaker 4 (01:28:51):
So when the Leafs get to a Stanley Cup, I
don't care about Leafs. They get the Stanley Cup against
I don't know who the Kings. You're you're going.
Speaker 5 (01:28:58):
For the other team, the Blue Jay I don't understand that. Okay,
