Doug has some donuts with Chris Escobar, the owner, and operator of the historic Plaza Theater on Ponce DeLeon Avenue in East Atlanta! The Plaza Theatre is an Atlanta landmark and the city’s oldest operating and only independent cinema since 1939! Chris is also the longest-serving and first minority Executive Director of the 44-year old Atlanta Film Society, and producer of the Academy Award-qualifying Atlanta Film Festival Chris and Doug recount the rich history of independent theaters and film in ATL and their past and future role in the Atlanta arts scene and the city’s economic outlook.
