beginning of the fifth year fourth annualHadsburg Battlefield Bash. Has last year as

if I had to be canceled brigandCOVID, but we are one week away
from this year's event, bigger andbetter than ever. And uh, why
don't you guys just talk a littlebit about Well, I think the latest
and greatest thing is we had ameeting with the Wyndham today. There is
no CDC guidelines with the with thewith their company and the Windomb and stuff

like that, so right now,mask there is no mask mandate, right,
we will have masks there. It'sover hear, we will have masks
there. If someone wants to wearmasks, cover's playing and there's plenty of
hand sanitizers out so if you wouldwish to wear a mask, there will

be masks provided for you. Um, you know, when we're one,
two, three, four, Idon't care, So pa your choice,
but um, it's not gonna bepushed on you. So and uh unless
the Winndham changes it and we themand CDT wherever they have to go by
at the Windham and we'll change it. Well, um, why don't we

kind of talk a little bit aboutget it out of the way early.
The painful subject of last year's eventnot being able to go down and you
know, just let everybody know justhow much work was put into something that
you know, wound up being canceledbe you know, out of your control.
Well, I think they happen withnot only us, I mean with

every business in Guinea. For wewere getting down um to the wire and
then the government, I mean thegovernor closed it down. But the COVID,
the COVID guidelines UM, so thatthat pretty much showed it right right
down there. And like I said, I know, I mean there's a

lot of work, you know,gim and I see a little bit more
than most people, you know,because we're here all the time. But
still we don't even see at all. I mean, there's so much that
is done behind the scenes, acquiringthis, getting this donation, uh you
know, getting this guy to bringthis food. Here's what happened this year.

Um so you see. But alot of things that happened this year
is UM donationwise. We lost alot of them because of COVID. A
lot of these businesses UM that help, don't you know, their own free
will Um couldn't this year, theyjust well they didn't have the expendable they
lost off because they were trying tomake up what they low. Yeah.

The only people with money this yearis the government because the print we need
a couple of training presses. Umwe were. We had the helicopter coming,
but now with all the wire wildchoires that happened to at us,
they can't bring the help because thetrailer they put that on is the one

that they used for all their firerest. So they can't bring the helicopter
over this year. So we lostthat to this year because of all the
forest fires and something are happening overout west. They're on high alert right
now. So as you can see, Kay, what was it under degree?
Yeah? So yes, and wehaven't had any really rain. So

you know, like I said,there's there's so many things that go into
point something of this size off.Um. You know, like you said,
a lot of it is people donatingtheir time, their goods, their
services. Um. God loves towin them donating. We think about the

bash we lost, the lost things, aren't um right? He had his
truck are very COVID he money hadhe sold the blue habits sold his truck.
Um A lot, a lot ofthings have happened. Um. Easburg
Rentals Center, they were a bigsponsor of us. They went there give

it's the tenses stuff like that andthe table. They couldn't do this year.
They just can't. They lost somuch pey during the COVID. So,
Um, it came down to Pamand I reaching in our pockets and
getting the tents and and and actuallybuying them. So we haven't now on
for so we ought to rent anythinganymore. So we actually went out and
this purchase. I mean it's beena guide bless this score is doing really

good mood locations. So that helpedus out big time on the bat.
So we took a lot of moneyout our own pockets this here to make
this happen um, but towards itat the end, it's really worth it.
Yeah. So yeah, and youknow, like I said, thank
god the window even though they hadtheir layoffs in one out because of COVID

and another organization bought them, they'restill working with you. So that's you
know, that's the one constant thingthat was really really good. It is
a very good tous and they've alreadygiven you mixtures that, yeah, we
get next year. State Cambel announcedthat there's everything. What do you think

I can get her? Greg?You know I thought that the guru behind
the bash, PM's the guru behindthe bash and turn baw. But she
does all the advertising. I doit the easy stuff like you know.
Eric Hat told the truck Yeah,I want everyone's Dad's right, you got,

but uh, you know there's someother things for those. It would
be an announcement made at the bashfrom we lost sixteen chup right, Um,
we lose them because they quit.We lost them because they passed away,
um chuck chucking. Dixie cut inFebruary from they believe COVID and then

Dixie passed away later on from internalissues. Uh um, so he lost
them both. But I'll explain atthe basch. I want to explain now.
I want to explain what he didfor us at the bash when we
opened upon ceremony and uh, Eric, I know he has a lot to
do with getting up Eric up everyyear for the um Sellen auction. He

does that, he does. Sothe two girls stepped me and worried.
Right, they worked their butts whereum Eric does all the food trucks.
He does all the volunteers, getsin wall for us, letting Susans,
the miles he ran. He's mysidekick. So if I need something,
he takes control. If I haveto upstairs and red Meat, especially with

the heart issues, yeah he'll takeover. And Susans Susans, you know,
she does great considering. That's youknow, just moving around for her
is painful with the so yeah,Um, a lot of good people behind
the scenes. Um, you know, and I know that, and I
had expressed um an interest in doingmore as far as every guy act up

to here and got to the church. The guys are gonna like this hurts.
Um. Yeah, that one ofhis friends and design shirts and I
think they came out really really nice. I give Erica big shot that out
there, because he does do ita lot. Yeah, there's a lot
of ye know, um, andit's uh, like I said, there's

there's so much that has to fallin place, and so many things that
have to be done for something likethis to be pulled off. And you
know, between the two of yourunning the store, well you know that
everything here at the house, youknow, and still haven't off. There's
an emotional element to the bash thisyear too, because, like you said,

I think everybody, our friends andour associates. I mean, everybody's
somebody you know close to them,whether it's COVID or other things. I
mean, right now, um,I'm almost afraid to go on Facebook most
days because it's overwhelming that some friendor associate is either in a health crisis,

a financial crisis, the wells driedup. I mean, it's just
you know, our friends out west, they're smoke, they're sucking in smoke.
You know. We have the Birdfamily coming in again from the West
coast. They're back east now.They've been sucking fumes in Salt Lake City

from the California. Um, justwing out somewhere earlier from some time and
get some clean air, I know, I said, it's it's just my
god. I mean, if itisn't one thing, it's something else.
And then you know, again notto get into any body body politics,

but we're not living in the vacuum. And even if you try to stay
disconnected from the news, you gotto be a little connected. And it
sucks. I mean, it's likeeverything is just under siege and where do
you trust. Um. Last yearwe sort of meat because even though it

got canceled, there were so manypeople who just wanted to be able to
see one another. So it wassort of like an unofficial bash. Yeah,
people still came, they met,they went out, and investigator really
thought about that. UM. Oncethe governor had canceled it, and we
made the announce when we were canceled. Cam and I called COVID right after

that. Yeah, and we werelocked in the house so we couldn't go
anyway, Thank you know god itwas canceled. I think we ended up
catching the COVID and with that,UM couldn't we couldn't come to the past
that people were still having even thoughit wasn't you know, wasn't happening,
they still had a party there,and that we couldn't go. We were,

we were, we were combined.We were fourteen. UM Pam was
chasing around ghosts in the house becauseI believe it was you know, you
didn't know, you didn't know anythingabout COVID. It was all these stories
were coming out that you know,ten days you're dead and and all that

(13:31):
stuff. You're gonna be on thevent later. UM. I ended up
having I had four heart surgeries andbetween now, which a lot of people
don't know. I'm will side.In January this year, Um, I
had a little maker again, noone knows about it. And I went
in and and they did surgery onme again. They fixed that, and
then I ended up with the harderplacing surgery and and that. But I

had COVID in my lungs and um, and I was like going into the
hospital. I mean ost for twodays. And I said to the doctor,
so we can put me on avent later and he's like, no,
you're bringing this point. You're gettwo back to this. And he
showed me you two back to thesteroids. He goes, you're going home.
And they did a catskin on mylungs. I was full of COVID.

They gave me two bags. Twodays later they did another cat scan
and it was adding my lungs.It was fully young. I can't see.
But who left us Michigan goodies that? Yeah, I might thank all
the people that knew that Cam andI were sick back then. And they
were dropping food off on our picnictable. And then we couldn't go out

by him, and and everybody wasasking and inquiring and and uh, I
mean, yeah, you guys wantanybody's for sure? They did, yeah,
uh him, our friends Michigan,they did. They came over and
they were looking through the window andtalking to us through the window because we
couldn't come out and talk to them. I mean, and really, I

mean, I guess coming out ofthat, there was still some consideration I
remember whether or not, you know, even by this year, because we
were still, you know, inthe middle of a lot going on.
Now for anybody who doesn't know,we got a pretty regular communication with Spirit

here and they really been taking careof us, and they talked to us
on a regular basis, and wewe had a constant I guess Spirit was
constantly telling us that by May ofthis year, not that it would be
over, but that we would startto feel some relief from what was a

(15:46):
going down. And we really tookthem on their word. Of course.
You know, anybody knows us knowsthat Pam and Steve and Dave and I
and my wife we all joined inon this house. And you know,
I've poor pan any new venture obviously, you know, nobody starts out and

it's often flying got bills, somy timing really sucks. I didn't mean
to hit you with all that.So I just sort of bit We've got
a good team, and our teamis open with communication, which is amazing,

and that makes us successful. I'vegot to tell you this, this
little story this week day recorded.Field of Dreams was on this past week.
One of my favorite movies. Yes, and it stubbles, and just
for anybody's information, tonight, probablycompeting with the right now, they're playing

an act baseball game, the WhiteSox and the Yankees on that field and
they build up a whole partition tobeat bleaches and stuff. So that's the
cornfield. I mean, that's hittingthat ball from the Oh yeah, that's
tonight. They tickets for that,this is our secondary market, are going

for thousand dollars. But you knowwhat that puts me. I haven't watched
sports because of everything, but Iwould absolutely get it. Well it and
that's what they were asking people.Well, as I'm watching that movie,
and that's always one of my favorites, and yeah, I still seen it
a hundred times. It's still quietthe end, you know. But anyhow,

I'm watching that movie and I'm drawingon the Hoover houses like our field.
Its means we have something very specialgoing on here. I mean we
literally can go into the parliament backof me, pull out a table and
have a damn good chance to talkand to our parents and uncle loved ones.

I've seen these strange it's we whenI don't know of any other place
that I could go and feel soconfident that that could even happen. So,
um, just saying that to you, that's that's why I'm really committed
to this place. I think it'sit's really something worthwhile. It's something real

special, and it only anything worthwhileis worth fighting for. You just don't
get it hand. The universe knewwhat it was doing when it put us
all together as a team. Andyou know, none of us here are
millionaires and nobody's nobody's squirting the Greenbacksout of their place. But I don't

know. I'm watched that Field ofdreams and it was just Dawn and all
me my wife, who never gotinvolved with this field. I mean,
she's dollering on me. Didn't thinka whole lot of all of our going
around. Now she's I mean,she's making eminated so and and we've had
a lot of friends in with alot of years of experience in this field,

have come here and had literally lifeall tuning experiences. We're ready.
So anyhow, we're you know,when you throw it all together, and
now we got this COVID. Everybody, I mean, so many of our
good friends are just really up againstit. And so everybody is coming to
this Gettysburg bash for their own healing. You know what. I all need

it, don't we do. Ifeel like I'm going to stair crying right
now. We're just some great ideas. Yeah, we're pret check this out
that Eric says Laura Stephford Dinah's beardblue for the bash. Yeah, I
heard, yeah, and you dohave I like, I don't know why

going there, She's gone, She'sgoing to get something, all right,

Here's what happened when COVID hit thewindow. Yeah, think about all
the events they had to go intothe window, right, those people all

had to cancel like we had to. Now they all want back in,
all right, So now they allwant the response it back, which fills
up the calendar of the window,which left us out for next year.
But the window as great as theyare. I'm having a date for us
which happens to be the same datenext year. Yeah, okay, so

gonna play it at the Badge whereit really was good. I mean yeah,
and I didn't see the ending coming. So if everyone knows, you
know, the carpet between the backconcrete terraces and the vending room, it's

really long, so it will,yeah, go the hallway so you'll play.
We're gonna put a big blow upscreen in there, and Dave and
I tested already and it'll play,and we're gonna bring the Windom's gonna help
us. We're gonna go Whole Terrorsdown that aisle and then we'll play that
movie late in high round ten tenthirty. Um, well Friday nights.

Yeah, probably Friday night after margatReadville and everything else closes, the big
long hallway coming down will have themovie and then the hallway going this way
before the movie, Laurie Johnson willbe doing gallery readings, So if anyone

for that. So I'm excited forthat this year, that Laurie has a
space to be able to do thatand there again, you know she just

found Redemption Barbecue over here in Waynesboro. They were doing an event here,
so so we called them and theguy's like, hey, this must be
like God sent us because I havenothing for that weekend and this will work
out perfect for us. The onlywe gonna have open. So he's coming
down and he's bringing his big pitand cooking French barbee in there and all.

Um. But the pain thing is, here's the really cool thing is
I'm caught talking to Keaton. Everyone of those Key he are brushes my
cars. He goes, that's myneighbor. I'm like, what, there's
the redemption barbecue is my neighbor?He goes, wain ty tone. You
know. So I thought it waspretty cool that Key's neighbor is going to
be there, and then they're reallygood friends and it was funny. And

Rake the mistake get me cooking hereon September four. I like barbecue and
I believe everything. Yeah. Great, the weather so far as encouraging.

We're in a heat wave like muchof the East Coast right now, and
we've been able. They usually sayevery year thirty percent chance of rain,
but it never happened. Well,they really are, and it looks like
we're going to knock the temperatures downabout ten degrees so good. So that's
yeah, it really looks like gettinga break there. That's perfect, I

off, I would certainly check withthe Park Service as far as any equipment
you go out on the battlefield,because we're I hear things and I don't
know that I've had anything verified,but I understand you're real sensitive and you're

not allowed a lot of things onthe battlefield. Now. You're not allowed
KOs, you're not allowed overly bigum cameras think that you're filming a documentary.
Um. But yeah, so there'sthere's some restrictions on equipment. And
then they said thirty minutes after duskyou got to be off the field,

will arrest you. Yep, sohopefully we can. Guys, are we

it's it's almost I don't know,it's it's it's a weird dichotomy that you

is a place to sleep, somethingto eat, water, um, children

cancer? Or you know, formy birthday I want to bring to you
know. But like I was sayingabout Connor, that was I got to
meet him that one time at theBash and I spoke to him for all

thing to say. I have threekids, but I've never seen a child
with that strength of character before.To know, at eleven, twelve years

as much as we all would loveto see miss Helen, it's you've got

an advanced age. And we wewant her to be around as long as
we can keep her because we're selfish. So if her it is, and

earth and do the wonderful things shedoes, and so be it. You

down at the border. I guessthey they released figures how they're being um

forty five billion dollars. Wow.And and I can't help but believe if

happening out west, so they needthe trailer that that sits on if they

think it's one of a fresh allof our spirits. I think, I
think all of us. At varioustimes it just felt for the weight the
world on us, and uh andI really do think just being able to

we weren't having meetings, and thevery time they opened them back up so
we were able to go there.I just walked in there and the spirits,

know, that period due to COVIDor other things. I've got to tell
you that there were so many thereand I don't know that I've ever walked
into any haunted place and picked upon so much spirit. It was overwhelming.

I'm walking in, I'm getting veryemotional from all the spirits. It's just
like dumping on me. And Isit there and say, spirits, you
