Speaker 1 (00:00):
Doctor Suhayunan discusses preventive care for a healthy spine and joints. Hi,
I'm doctor Suhayunan. I want to talk with you about
something we often overlook, taking care of your spine and
joints before they start hurting. Most people wait until they
feel pain to seek help, but by then your body
has already been under stress for a long time. Preventive

(00:23):
care is about protecting yourself early so you can stay mobile, active,
and comfortable for years to come. Think about your posture
for a moment. How do you sit at your desk
or when you're on your phone. If you're like most people,
you probably lean forward or slouch without even realizing it.
That extra pressure builds up slowly and causes stiffness, back pain,

(00:47):
or even joint problems later on. The good news is
fixing your posture is simple. Sit tall, keep your shoulders relaxed,
and make sure your screen is at eye level. These
small adjustments can protect your spine in the long run.
Movement is another key. Our bodies were never designed to

(01:07):
sit for hours without a break. Gentle exercise keeps your
muscles strong and your joints flexible. You don't have to
spend hours at the gym. Even walking, stretching, yoga, or
swimming can make a huge difference. Just moving a little
every day helps prevent stiffness and supports your spine and joints.

(01:28):
Nutrition also plays a bigger role than most people realize.
Your bones and joints need certain nutrients to stay healthy.
Calcium and vitamin D help keep bones strong, while omega
three s from foods like fish and walnuts fight inflammation
that can cause joint pain. And don't forget water. Your
spinal discs rely on hydration to act as cushions between

(01:50):
the bones in your back. Drinking enough water each day
really does help your spine function better. Carrying extra weight
is another factor. Every pound of weight adds extra pressure
on your spine, hips, and knees. Over time, this can
lead to joint wear and back problems. A balanced diet
and regular activity help keep your weight in check, which

(02:13):
in turn protects your spine and joints. And if you smoke,
quitting is one of the best choices you can make,
not only for your overall health, but also for your
body's ability to heal and stay strong. Lastly, I want
you to listen to your body don't ignore the little
aches or stiffness you feel from time to time. Those

(02:34):
are signals that something needs attention. Early care, such as
chiropractic adjustments, can correct imbalances and prevent them from becoming serious.
Regular checkups are a smart way to stay ahead and
keep your spine and joints working their best. Taking care
of your spine and joints doesn't mean making big changes

(02:54):
all at once. It's about building simple habits, sitting better,
moving more, eating well, staying hydrated, and checking in on
your body regularly. These steps add up over time and
create a foundation for long lasting health. If you focus
on prevention to day, you are giving yourself the gift
of a stronger, more active, and healthier future.
