(00:01):
I was talking about the nighttime primetime subs of the eighties and with a
friend of mine around my age.Now they're not in the business like I
am. They don't do podcasts. They don't even listen to podcasts. They're

(00:21):
like a just average Joe out therewho goes to work. There's a lot
of social media, but not likecrazily who likes what they like on the
shows. They watch TV according towhat they like and which without the eighties
subs, and they liked They saidthey liked Dallas, they liked Dynasty,

(00:48):
but they couldn't get into it toFalcon Crest or Bass Landing and I said,
o oh, I said, well, you know, I know every
show has its own appeal and ringand can attracts. Why I attract you
to him? And I said, well, you know, kay, tell
me why they didn't just could Didyou watch them or try to watch them?

(01:08):
And and he said I did.I tried watching nots Landing, and
it seemed that for the first seasonwas very different than it was later.
But he say it just seemed likeregular life that he didn't want to escape
his own so he didn't want thatby a second Well, Falcon Crest.

(01:34):
He said it wasn't glamorous enough, cause yeah, they were living in a
mansion and you know, you know, in Tulsi Valley and stuff like that
vineyard, but it was outrageous enoughfor him. He felt that Dallas and
Dicey fulfilled for all those all thosethings. So this is the giant four

(01:56):
show crossover. If you guys don'tknow this, and the ones who do
or don't, I do the Dallasafter show, the Facing Crest after show,
the Dynasty to the Kolbe's after show, which actually we talk about some
Dynasty on there and CW Dynasty oron the Dallas streat you taught Dallas TNT

(02:17):
and it when you're not standing andwould do fucking Crest all that. So
I decided to do a blanket andgeneral one for all of you who listen
to any or all of my majorprime time pork though you know pro podcast.

(02:38):
And I just find it interesting whenthey mentioned the eighties primetime soaps and
soaphy goodness that sometimes fucking Crest iskind of left out. Ever, sometimes
not Standing's left out. C Yes, clearly, Dallas and Dynasty were their

(03:00):
two biggest shows in the country andin the world. They often vibe for
the number one spot for a lotof seasons here in America especially, they
were huge, and of course wecame in. We never even mentioned Flamingo
road paper dolls like all these otherlittle things that came out that they just

(03:23):
got our attention for a minute, but they didn't, you know, turn
into the other I say, theBig Four, which is the four were
talking Dynasty y Kobe didn't get talkingabout them either. But I always you
know, it's interesting how people,a lot of folks, I know,

(03:43):
view prime time for soaps should beway bigger and broader and crazier. Yet
there are a lot of shows onprime Time they watched that aren't that,
but they like them and their dramas. So I find that I just find

(04:11):
that interesting that when when it comesto their daytime, so so of course,
you know they're on every day,it's a whole different thing. And
if you're doings were real lives oryou know, there's a lot of radio
stuff comes all the time, butprime time especially, you know, for
the eighties, it was about thebig hair, big clothes, big cars,

(04:32):
jewelry, cheating lines and all thatall that stuff, and you know,
I've said it on the Falcon Crestsaverage show, that ship was very
classy and appearance to me, it'slike the Young and the Restless of Prime
Time. It's very classy. Notstanding was the almost relatable show because there's

(04:58):
still there was still a rich there. I mean Gary was rich, Abbey
became rich, Summer was rich.I mean there were some rich folks there,
but it just it was presented apackage of we're here in southern California
and it's all about families and andsome boardroom stuff, and there's a lot

(05:19):
of there was a lot of melodramaon that sta right now coming to just
coming to mind thinking about that Karenget stocked case and vals babies being taken
abroad. Like there's there was somestuff that was outbringers on there. But
it's interesting when people look back andand it looked back in the mirror and

(05:44):
the view is it's Dallas and Dynastytop to you. Everybody else kind of
falls by the wayside. So I'mcurious for all of you, cause I
know some of you listened to justcertain ones of my podcast, so it's
all of them. What are yourthoughts on all that? Just what are
your thoughts on uh, the theview of the four shows that just basically

(06:10):
mentioned Dynasty, Dallas, fig Preston, then that's that to me, that's
a big four, the Big Threeand the eighties was Madonna, Prince and
Michael Jackson. Like you know, there's like there's certain things to me that
were just that's it. Do youso folks who watch fucking krest now or
love it or they do you thinkthey get the props they deserve? I

(06:32):
think in some ways no, notSayny does sometimes by fang gress I I
mean very very talk about it,and I'm like, it's a it's a
great show. It's a great showwith a lot of amazing older actor guest
stars on it. I mean, they don't even talk about that. Not
Stanny gets talked about it once ina while. It does, but I

(06:57):
know, like a thing I wannasay that, like a home Girl played
Abbey Donald Mills was part of theDallas tour, which I understand that if
someone went to that, tell mewhat that was about, cause I was
kind of like, yes, notstating it was a spin off. And
she has with Gary He's like yes, that's why. I mean, it's

(07:17):
like she wasn't really on Dallas Byif I real creature, I saw her
there, I'm like, we loveher of course in her classes there,
but it's just like that doesn't reallybelong. So I don't know, but
I'm curious what you think you know, because clearly, if you're listening to
any of my podcasts, you're afan of that show, and I will

(07:40):
continue to do episodes and talk aboutit and the whole thing. I'd like
love drinking it. But it's curiousfor you at home as you're listening to
this, what are your thoughts onwhat's the the the biggest of the way.
It's obviously ratings wise, you know, the biggest order, but why
is not standing if Van Crest kindof relegated to supporting status in your mind

(08:03):
everything, or if you think theyshouldn't be let me know. So I
don't not to say at this pointthis is the blank after show. I
guess I will just say that thisis the Dallas not Slanding Falcon Crest nice
Tey Callby's last Dynasty after show. What do you think? What you think?
