The Echo Sportscast delivers a weekly collection of Nipissing District Athletics high school results, video highlights and interviews, followed by post-secondary varsity, competitive club and recreational news and views. Each Friday morning, the 30-minute Sportscast will begin with the NDA roundup for the first one-third to half of the production. In the middle, we will spotlight an individual or sport with a five-minute excerpt from a longer podcast-style interview posted separately. Up next will be a variety pack of non-high school sports, ranging from club leagues to tournaments involving youth and adults, as well as post-secondary varsity coverage. At the end of each show, you will find a “Sports Heritage Moment” and historical footnote feature, most of which will connect to the North Bay Sports Hall of Fame inductees. We want the Echo Sportscast to be multi-generation involving youth, adults and the grandparents who raise and support them – while also adding a spark to their own athletic memories. The inaugural co-hosts are Paul McLean and Dave Dale, who bring a combined 40 years of local sports experience and a long list of network friends with bigger and better resumes to contribute ideas and background material. McLean is a 20-year fixture in local athletic circles as a team sponsor, coach and volunteer in multiple leagues, as well as owner of the Source for Sports equipment and clothing store. Dale has been involved in local hockey and baseball leagues as an executive, coach, trainer, reporter, photographer and armchair umpire. Like many, he has earned his sports stripes as a parent of a competitive athlete.
