forth these two Brits have had latelyin the press. And we'll also get
(00:22):
the scoop on Ed celebrating his thirtythird birthday, his continued chart topping success,
and his upcoming headline performance at agreat charity event. So whether you
love chart topping hits, cheeky celebritybanter, cute cats, or worthy causes,
there's something for just about everyone intoday's episode. Now let's dive right
(00:45):
in and get caught up on Ed. Well. Hey there, everyone,
Hoda here, I've got some interestingmusic news to chat about involving two huge
stars, Rod Stewart and Ed Sheeran. It seems some comments recently made about
Ed in an interview have sparked quitethe reaction. In the interview, Rod
(01:07):
was asked to name a modern artistmaking timeless music. Rod gave a vague
answer about an unnamed really talented Britishartist, but when the interviewer suggested it
sounded like he meant Ed Sheeran,Rod bluntly replied, no, not Ed,
I don't know any of his songs. He then rather cheekily referred to
(01:30):
Ed as old Ginger Bollocks. Turnsout Rod was actually talking about singer George
Ezra, but it was what hesaid about Ed that made headlines. Now.
I find it hard to believe Roddoesn't know any of Ed's songs.
The guy is a chart megastar.I mean, his song Shape of You
(01:51):
from twenty seventeen is one of thebiggest hits ever in both the UK and
US, and Rod's been in thebusiness for what fifty He must have heard
Ed's music at some point. Anywho Ed caught wind of Rod's comments and
posted a photo of Rod on Instagramlooking quite skeptical without any extra comment.
(02:13):
Pretty subtle clap back, if youask me. In other Ed news,
the British singer just celebrated his thirtythird birthday on February seventeenth. He posted
some fun picks marking the occasion, holding an adorable call in the caterpillar plushy
and wearing some funky happy birthday glasses. Lots of his celebrity pals like j
(02:35):
Balvin and Terry Crew's wished him wellon social media. Doesn't thirty three seem
quite young for someone as acclaimed ased talent and success? Clearly no no
age. It's been a big yearfor Ed, between a creative Arts Emmy
win, surprising fifty cent fans onstage in London, putting out a lovely
(02:57):
new album called Autumn Variations, andbreaking records on his recent Mathematics World tour.
I was just dancing along to hisnew holiday vibe music with my girls
the other day. Oh and Edalmost snagged a Grammy last week too,
though he lost out on Best PopVocal Album to one Miss Taylor Swift.
But hey, no shame in thatat all. In other fun Ed content,
(03:23):
last month, he revisited a catcafe in Japan that he first sang
at unsuccessfully way back in twenty fourteen. Attempt number two entertaining those felines with
Thinking out Loud didn't go much better, though, He wrote that he's trying
to win over the same kiddies thatran away from me in twenty fourteen,
(03:44):
same results. You can't win themall over, I guess even with golden
pipes like Eds. And finally,Ed was recently announced as the headliner for
the Big Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation BlueDiamond Charity Gala on May second at Dodger
Stadium. How cool is that theevent benefits education, healthcare, battling homelessness
(04:06):
and social justice in La seems riteup ed zally if you ask me.
Past gala performers include Usher, jLo, and Maroon Five. So Ed
is in great company. Should bean awesome star studded night for a good
cause, and that's a rap. Thanks so much for listening in today.
