La tradición establece que unos 30 niños menores de dos años murieron a manos de los soldados.Desde entonces, la Iglesia Católica celebra cada 28 de diciembre a los Santos Inocentes. Y desde hace algunos años, la Iglesia Católica realiza también oficios especiales, para rezar por todos los niños que no han podido nacer y han muerto víctimas del aborto.
