(00:00):
This is your Elf on the Shelfpodcast, and this is the story of
an elf named Joy, Oh,Happy Day. There are only a few
days left until Christmas, which meansit's time for me, Joy the Elf,
to really step up my game. When Santa dropped me off on his
sleigh last month and placed me carefullyon the mantle here in the Adams family's
living room, he said to me, Now, Joy, I'm counting on
(00:23):
you to spread holiday cheer to littleTimmy and Sally and their parents, make
each day leading up to Christmas extraspecial. And I have done my ELFI
best so far, moving to differentsilly spots each morning, keeping my magic
alive by staying out of sight.I've balanced on lamps and ceilings, fans,
(00:47):
clung to curtains, and even hiddenin the laundry basket. Each night,
I make my report to Santa aboutall the Christmas spirit I see.
But now, with time running outbefore the big day, it's time to
pull out all the stops. TheAdams family won't know what hit them with
the antics I have planned. Lastnight, while they were sleeping, I
(01:11):
raided the craft cupboard and got everythingprepared to decorate every inch of this place
I have plans for a palm palmgarland that will snake up the banisters,
around door frames, even across theceiling. Sally loves art projects, so
I'll spell out joyful messages like MerryChristmas and be Jolly in her colored pencils
(01:34):
and crayons on sheets of paper.I'll hang them in each doorway for a
cheerful surprise first thing in the morning. Maybe I'll even get Trixie and do
some rearranging while my human slumber. That heavy arm chair would look smashing in
the corner by the Christmas tree insteadof near the fireplace. And I can
(01:55):
move the side tables and lamps aroundtwo for an icy winter one underland vibe
twinkly lights everywhere. Of course, you simply can't spread yuletide, joy and
good tidings without liberal use of twinklelights. Garlands will frame the mantle and
wind up the banisters even further.I found where Mamma stashed some leftover ribbon
(02:19):
and will use it to make oversizedloopy bows for each doorway. Oh and
I must check to see if thereare any cardboard tubes or empty jars left
in the recycling bin. They makesplendid horns for old fashioned gramophones to really
blast the holiday tunes. As dazzlingas the decor will be, it's not
(02:42):
enough on its own for a spectacularfinale. The days leading up to Christmas
must also be filled with playfulness andadventure. Little Timmy has been extra good
this year, helping with chores withoutcomplaint and including his little sister in playtime.
I'll craft a special scavenger hunt justfor him, with hidden clues guiding
(03:05):
him to a trove of candy canesand chocolate coins stashed in places only an
elf can reach. And for Sallie, she'll wake up Christmas Eve morning to
find her dollies and stuffed animals havegotten into the spirit and thrown a wild
holiday party while she slept. They'llbe strewn about with tiny party hats and
(03:27):
noise makers, confetti and wrapping paperscraps everywhere. I'll spell out Happy Christmas
with her building blocks and leave anote reminding her that even toys need to
celebrate. As for Timmy and Sally'sparents, who work so hard and deserve
some extra cheer, I'll be onbaking duty, making late night Christmas cookies
(03:47):
and leaving them on the counter ordining room table for breakfast, along with
notes of appreciation for all they do. Seeing their smiles will fill my elf
heart with joy to overflowing, andmost important of all, on Christmas Eve,
after the Adams family leaves plates ofcookies by the tree for me and
(04:10):
heads off to bed, I'll makeone final report to Santa, letting him
know without a doubt that this householddeserves a visit from Saint Nick himself.
Before sunrise, I'll make sure tosample the cookies left for me as I
confirm Timmy and Sally's names are securelyon the Nice list this year. My
(04:30):
elf work here is nearly done, and I feel Santa's magic already tingling in
anticipation for the big night ahead. But before he arrives, I have one
last order of business to attend to, leaving a personalized note for each member
of this loving family, thanking themfor welcoming me into their home and for
(04:51):
letting me be a part of theirChristmas season, Signed with north Pole Love
by Joy the Christmas Elf. Ohwhat funn one I've had playing my special
elf role to make spirits bright herein the Adams Happy home, seeing all
the joy and laughter I helped createthrough small acts of mischief and mayhem,
(05:12):
each day fills me to the brimwith the true meaning of Christmas. As
Santa likes to say, it's betterto give than receive, and giving this
family a holiday season stuffed full ofcheer and charm and silliness has been the
best gift I could ask for.My time here has come to an end,
(05:33):
but the Christmas memories I helped makewill live on for years to come.
Tomorrow I'll perch myself upon the treefor one final farewell glimpse as the
Adams family celebrates Christmas Morning. ThenI'll magically make my way back to the
North Pole in time for the annualElf after party and all hands meeting to
(05:54):
start planning cheer spreading adventures for nextyear. Wherever Santa sends me next next
I know my elf heart will beglowing as I recall the Adam family's smiling
faces on each festive day I wasa part of, from laughing at my
silly antics to discovering all my holidaysurprises. Their joy gave me reason to
(06:16):
celebrate the season. Two. AsI hear Mamma and Papa stirring down the
hall. I give a little winkto the stockings hung with care, then
disappear in a jingling flash. ChristmasSpirit delivery officially complete. But there's always
more festive fun to spread. Somuch good cheer and so little time.
(06:39):
Here I come, twenty twenty four. Joy, The Elf will see you
soon. Mischief managed for now,Ho ho ho, and happy holidays.
