Speaker 2 (01:51):
Without compromise. Amen.
Speaker 1 (01:53):
Such time as this we need the truth. Jesus said,
it is the truth that sets men free. Thank God
for the truth. It will not change, It will not
a man be done away with, no matter how much
people want to live in denial, live in delusion. The
word of the Lord has been spoken, It has been decreed.
(02:16):
He that is God and his Word are inseparable. And
it shall not his word return to him void.
Speaker 2 (02:26):
Amen. So we must.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
Live by the word of God, and not by our
own a man desires or decisions necessarily, but by the
word of the Living God. All right, Today we continue
our series on God, government, church, and state. And we
are a man going to be today. In the Book
(02:47):
of the Acts of the Apostles, chapter number twelve, if
you have your Bibles, you can go. No king, no
king can stop this, No king can stop this. What
God has decreed, what God is purpose, what God has predetermined,
(03:09):
what God has predestined.
Speaker 2 (03:12):
Amen. And he has, by the way.
Speaker 1 (03:14):
Predestined, He has predetermined that He will have a people
called by his name, a people who will obey him,
a people who will say, Yes, God has determined that
from all eternity, and therein we are Amen.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
As it is this.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
Day the Church of the Living God called out Amen
for that purpose. Amen, to bring glory and honor to him.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
Amen.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
And also certainly the mission that we have been given
is to go into all the world and preach the
Gospel to every creature. And we continue to this day
preaching the Word. As Apostle Paul gave the admonition to
his son in the Gospel Timothy, be instant in season
out of season, reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering
(04:03):
and doctrine, for the time would come when men will
not want to hear sound doctrine they don't want the truth. Nevertheless,
the truth is what we must always be faithful to
adhere to and proclaim. No king can stop it, No
(04:24):
king can stop it. The haters of Jesus and the
haters of his Church, Amen, are persistent. They are, of course,
as long as they are in rebellion against God and
disobedient to the Word of God and.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
Refusing to repent. They are.
Speaker 1 (04:41):
Indeed persistent in their hatred against the Church. They continue
to flail away even after they are defeated. And of course,
as we've already seen in our venture through the Book
of the Acts, for example, they sought to intimidate Peter
and John.
Speaker 2 (05:02):
That's again, this is the amal of what the devil does.
Speaker 1 (05:06):
First of all, he has a pattern. He will seek
to bring fear, chiefly by intimidation. And so it was
with Peter and John and the apostles in the early
going of the church. They then put them in jail
amen for preaching.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Jesus the name of Jesus. They issued decrease.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
This is the government that it's the government at work,
the rulers of the Jews. They issued decrease to prohibit
their speech. Don't preach anymore. Don't teach anymore in the
name of Jesus, we issued did we not?
Speaker 2 (05:44):
This is what they said.
Speaker 1 (05:45):
Did we not straightly command you, did we not straightly
tell you? We issued a decree to you that you
are not the preacher teach anymore in the name of Jesus.
And of course you know the response of and the
apostles to say, we ought to obey God rather than man.
(06:06):
And so after issuing their decrees, of course, they physically
laid hands on the apostles, as it were, by beating them,
and because again they refused to obey the decrees of man,
the laws of man, which were in violation of the
higher law of God, of course, and the command that
(06:27):
God had given them, Jesus had given them, go and preach, Man,
go and preach. And by the way, you remember, when
they were delivered out of the prison, the angel came
and said, go stand in the temple and speak to
the people all the words of this life. Go do
what the Lord has commissioned you, has commanded you to do.
(06:49):
We are to obey God rather than man. No king
can stop this. And so of course the counsel, the Jews,
the leaders them of the people. They summarily then ignored
the counsel of Gamaliel, who had come to them and said, hey, listen,
if this work is of man, it'll come to nothing.
(07:10):
But if it is of God, you're going to be
fighting against God and you will not prevail. And so
they of course again ignored all of that and summarily
went back to their own ways. And they all consented
to the stoning brother of Stephen when he was murdered
(07:31):
by them, And shortly afterwards, of course, they deputized, and
we talked about this, a man by the name of Saul,
who became the chief enemy of the Church, going about
a man putting people in prison and making people, seeking
to make people recant. And they wouldn't stop at that.
(07:53):
They would murder a man if necessary.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
And so.
Speaker 1 (08:00):
Paul was deputized by them to do their dirty work.
And of course the Lord arrested him, and that foiled
their plan. So they were defeated again when Saul was
arrested by Jesus and converted and began preaching Jesus. And
so after again that plan failed, they are now looking
(08:21):
to Herod. They are now looking to King Herod to
assist in their diabolical efforts to destroy the Church of
the Living God. But may we never forget, no king
can stop this. I don't care who they are. And
it's been tried over and over again throughout world history,
(08:44):
church history. A man, kings, rulers, a man have attempted
to stomp out, stamp out, you know, put out, put
the pasture as it were, the Church of.
Speaker 2 (09:00):
The Living God. It won't work.
Speaker 1 (09:04):
It won't work, Act Chapter twelve, verse number one. Now
about that time, this is all during the time, an
immediate aftermath of the stoning the murder of Stephen. The
Bible tells us about that time, Herod the King stretch
forth his hands to vex certain of the church. I
(09:25):
just question why, why, why, Arad? Why? I believe I
know the answer to that. It's all about trying to
please the people. It's the only indication we have in
the text here. He's an alliance, in allegiance with the Jews,
the leaders of the Jews, and so they are now
(09:46):
looking to Herod to help them. We got to stop
these people. We gotta stop this movement. We gotta stop
this way. We got to stop.
Speaker 2 (09:55):
These street preachers. Amen.
Speaker 1 (09:58):
So the Bible says verse number two was successful. I'm
it's my words. The Bible says he killed James, the
brother of John, with the sword.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
Why why murder?
Speaker 1 (10:14):
Why? Again? That's ultimately, this is ultimately what the devil
always goes to. Never forget it. If they can't shut you,
if they can't intimidate you, if they can't shut you up,
if they can't lock you up, and even when they
lock you up. For example, the apostle Paul, when he
was locked up, what did he do? Wrote prison epistols
while he was in jail. I mean, I mean, you
(10:36):
can't stop. You can't stop this. This cannot be stopped.
Jesus said it upon this rock, I'm biting my church
and the gates of hell. When I prevail, you can't
stop it. But they persist because they are delusional, because
they are in denial. Amen, they are deceived. And so
(10:56):
Herod is now there playing their savior to stop the church.
He seeks for the leadership of the church. He successfully
kills James. The Bible says, the brother of John with
the sword, and because he saw it pleased the Jews
(11:17):
verse three, he proceeded further to take Peter. Also, let
me tell you something. When these devils, when these demons,
and they're alive and well today, they get a little
feather in their cap. They think they making progress. They're
not going to relent. They're not gonna let up. They're
never gonna be satis until the Church of Jesus Christ
(11:39):
is dead. And I just told you it ain't gonna happen.
It's not gonna work. But then they're not gonna stop.
They're not gonna stop, They're gonna keep going. And so
when he saw that it pleased the Jews, and make
no mistake about it, this has to be. This is
the leadership, because the people are rallying around the church
(12:00):
is exploding.
Speaker 2 (12:01):
The people these are the Jews primarily.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
The early Church is comprised almost exclusively of the Jews
at this point, in chapter ten, if you go back
a little bit, of course, Peter has gone reluctantly and
preached to Cornelius, and so the Gentiles being brought into
the church. Chapter nine Samaria and fill up the Ethiopian
(12:26):
he met with him. And so the Gentiles are being
slowly grafted into the church as well. But however, at
this point, especially in particularly in and around Jerusalem, it
is almost exclusively the Jews. And so the Jewish leaders
the leadership, and man the Old God, if you will,
and man the government, those who are in charge. No, no, no, no, no, sir,
(12:51):
they don't like this. They don't like this at all.
And so they're going to, by any means necessary, seek
to stomp out, damp out, put out this. A man uprising,
this way, a man Jesus preaching, and so forth and
so on, and so by pleasing the leadership, Herod then
(13:14):
proceeds further, the Bible says, to take Peter also. And
again this is just Ponteus pilot kind of people pleasing
and appeasing. This is exactly what Pontius Pilot had to
do in his mind, as it were, in order to
appease the crowd, the leaders who had stirred up all
(13:35):
the people against Jesus and said, give us Barabbus. And
this is the same kind of appeasement here, this right
in your Bible, he says. Because he saw it pleased
the Jews, he proceeded further to take Peter also, And
when he had apprehended him verse number four, he put
(13:55):
him in prison and delivered him to four quaternions of
soldiers to keep him, intending after Easter to bring him
forth to the people. Kill the leader, kill the movement.
Didn't wait a minute?
Speaker 2 (14:13):
Didn't they try it?
Speaker 1 (14:14):
This already? Didn't they wasn't this trial, wasn't this attempted already?
And again they again, as I said, they summarily ignored
the advice of Gamala, who told them, listen, fellas, if
this work is of men, it's gonna come to nothing.
(14:38):
Leave them alone, it'll die out. It won't work if
it's man. If it's religion, if it's contrived of men
made of man, it won't work.
Speaker 2 (14:52):
But if it is of God, or you're gonna be
fighting against God and you won't win.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
But never less, the old wise man, they said, I
we're not gonna the devil is not gonna stop. He's
not going to stop. And that's okay because we win. Amen.
The church wins because Jesus has won for us victory,
and He's made us more than conquerors through Him that loved.
(15:22):
All we need to do is cleave to God and
resist the devil. Stand on the word of God, stand
on his promises.
Speaker 2 (15:27):
Amen.
Speaker 1 (15:28):
And God will come through for his people at all times,
even in them and all of the mayhem, if you will.
When murder happens, when martyrdom happens in the church, guess
what we still win? Paul says, whether dead or alive,
either way, and I prefer rother. He said, to be
(15:49):
absent from the body and to be present with the Lord.
Speaker 2 (15:52):
Amen.
Speaker 1 (15:53):
So none of these Amen, rulers of the church. Leaders
in the church were afraid of death.
Speaker 2 (16:00):
Amen.
Speaker 1 (16:01):
They weren't afraid to die. And so James, shortly after
the murder of Steven is killed by a Herod, a man,
and now he takes Peter with the intent of killing
the movement. So if I kill the leader, I'll kill
the movement. And again they've tried it before. Of course
(16:23):
that didn't work. They killed the number one leader. Jesus,
how did that work out for him?
Speaker 2 (16:31):
Peter?
Speaker 1 (16:32):
Therefore verse five was kept in prison, But prayer, the
Bible says, was made without ceasing of the church unto
God for him. And when Herod would have brought him
forth the same night, Peter was sleeping between two soldiers
bound with two chains, and the keepers before the door
kept the prison. So you had two soldiers in change
(16:56):
with Peter, all of them are sleeping, and you had
guards on the outside of the prison door guarding Peter
as well. But look what happens. Oh, I love this,
I love it. I love it, I love it Verse
number seven. And behold the Angel of the Lord came
upon him, and a light shined in the prison, and
(17:21):
he smoked Peter on the side and raised him up, saying,
rise up quickly, and his chains, his chains fell off
of him. The Bible says, Remember Peter was chained along
with these soldiers or with these soldiers, but they're chains
and fall off. Peter's chains fell off from his hands,
(17:42):
the Bible tells us, Amen and so, and by the way,
very quickly.
Speaker 2 (17:47):
I love this.
Speaker 1 (17:49):
I've commented on this every time I've read this passage
and spoken about this. I mean, miraculous deliverance of God
dispatching an angel from heaven. You find it kind of
curious that Peter was fast asleep, so sleep the night
before he's to be murdered, the night before he's to
(18:11):
be executed. Peter is sleeping like a baby, so fast
asleep that the angel has to smite him to wake
him up. That's resting in the Lord. That's that's confidence
in God. That's that's I mean, like Daniel in the lions.
Then Amen, like shotrack me checking the bnnygolds, standing before
(18:33):
the fiery furnace, that's confidence in God. Now Peter doesn't know,
he's just already know. So he knows this that his companion,
his running mate, one of his running mates, James, has
already been killed. And so he's an expectation, Oh well, oh,
if I perish, I perish, you gotta be like as
to have that same spirit. If I perish. I perish. Nevertheless,
(18:54):
I'm still gonna stand on the word of God. And
so Amen. Peter, Uh, the Bible says, is sleeping, gaunt
dispatches an angel from heaven, and angel comes in, and
light shines in. And by the way where the President
of the Lord is, there is light. I mean, even
in the darkness there is light. And so Peter has
(19:15):
to be awakened out of his sound sleep the night
before he's to be executed. And the Angel said to
him verse eight, gird thyself, bind on thy sandals. And
so he did, and he said them to him, cast
thy garment about thee, and follow me. He went out,
followed him, and wished not that it was true, which
(19:37):
was done by the angel. But he thought he saw
a vision. Now Peter is the same guy who saw
the vision that God gave him in Acts chapter ten
about you know, Riys Peter killing the head of all
these different so called unclean animals of the Old Testament,
Old Covenant. And so Peter thinking, in this particular case,
he's seeing another vision. I'm dreaming. I'm dreaming the Angel
(20:03):
is taking me on the glory.
Speaker 2 (20:05):
Amen.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
But no, that was not the case. The Bible says,
when they were passed the first and second ward, they
came into an iron gate that leadeth into or rather
unto the city, And the gate, the Bible says, open
to them of its own accord. And they went out
and passed through one street and forthwith the Angel departed
(20:28):
from him. And when Peter was come to himself, the
Bible says, he said, wait a minute, Oh, wait a minute,
I'm not dreaming. He said, now I know of a
surety that the Lord hath sent his angel, and hath
delivered me out of the hand of Erd, and from
(20:49):
all the expectation of the people of the Jews. In
other words, I am I mean, he's talking about the leadership.
It's it's the it's the government. Is Herod represents the
government of the Gentiles. The Jewish leaders represent the government
of the Jews, a man of Israel. And they are
(21:09):
the ones who are conspiring, who were turning, attempting to
turn the people against a man the Church. But again
no king can stop this. And listit all, elicit enlist,
elicit all the help that you want to think you
can get from whatever legislature, whatever president, prime minister, governor,
(21:34):
mayor city Council. All you want, you will not prevail
against the Church of the Living Why it's just so
hard for people to believe. It's because they are deceived.
They're in delusion. And we got right now in America.
Even though we again enjoy relative freedom and ability to
worship and all of this and so forth, so called freedom. Man,
(21:57):
there are people, There are forces. They are demons. These
same demons are alive and well and attempting to stop
the Church. But no king can stop this. No shackles
can be put upon the saints of the Living God,
the Church of the Living God.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
No bars.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
You can put us in change, you can put us
behind bars. As I mentioned beforehand. Amen, Peter, I mean Paul, brother,
the apostle was put in prison, and what did he do?
God gives him epistles and letters to write that we
still have to this day. No bars, no change, no shackles, Amen,
can hold back the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Speaker 2 (22:36):
Amen.
Speaker 1 (22:37):
The Lord said, my word is gone for from my mouth,
and it shall not return to me void. It will
accomplish what I please. It's going to prosper where I
send it. Although comparably, speaking of course, again, we enjoy
less threatening season, as you will, of persecution, particularly here
(22:59):
in America. We must forever be vigilant and prayerful for
our fellow Amen, soldiers in the Body of Christ, who
are suffering in the same way that most of these
in the first century Church suffered, in which we read about,
of course, in the book of the accent Beyond. And
(23:19):
we are to take comfort a man, I would say
in the Word of God, of course, believe certainly that
what Jesus has spoken concerning his church will certainly prevail.
I believe that, I believe that it has already over
two thousand years. And we are to pray to that end.
(23:39):
Pray that the word of the Lord will have free course.
Pray for the people of God, Pray one for another,
Pray for those who are lost.
Speaker 2 (23:46):
Amen.
Speaker 1 (23:48):
The Lord watches over his church. Amen, and he keeps
his promises. And if God chooses to intervene directly by
dispatching an angel from heaven or simply by the word
of his mouth, Amen, God can and God will deliver
if he so chooses. All power is in his hand.
(24:09):
He is the almighty, sovereign, King of Kings and Lord
of Lord. King Herod of course had to learn this
the hard way. Now here's the rest of the story.
By the way, verse eighteen of Acts, chapter twelve. As
soon as it was day, there was no small stir.
The Bible says, among the soldiers, what was becoming Peter.
(24:30):
Can you imagine that they're looking around there, they're searching,
they're digging, they're going, wait a minute, hold on, what
whoa we wake up?
Speaker 2 (24:38):
And oh my God.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
And by the way, they were not I should not
have been sleeping, by the way, and may not even
have been sleeping. Those guards could have been wide awake
and invisibly. Peter and the angel just walk right by them.
Speaker 2 (24:55):
Amen.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
God is a god of all power, all authority. And
as soon as it was day, the Bible says, they
don't know what has happened with Peter. And the Bible says,
when Herod had sought for him, of course they sent
out a search posse i soume, and they didn't find him.
The Bible says, he examined the keepers. In other words,
(25:16):
these are the guards who were on duty, sixteen of them.
I believe it is four quaternions. I believe it's sixteen
guards who had the responsibility of guarding Peter, the Bible says,
when he had examined them, he commanded that they should
be put to death, and he went down from Judea
(25:39):
to Caesarea and their abode, and Herod, the Bible says,
was highly displeased with them of tire and Sidon, and
they rather came with one accurt to him. And having
made Blastes, the king's chamberlain, their friend, they desired peace,
and because their country was nourished by the king's country,
and so they wanted to be on good terms with Herod.
(26:04):
And the Bible tells us verse to anyone, watch this
upon a set day, Herod, this is the king. Herod,
arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and he
made an oration to the people, and the people gave
(26:24):
a shout, saying, it is the voice of a God
and not of a man. And immediately, the Bible says,
the Angel of the Lord smote him because he gave
not God the glory, and he was eaten of worms
(26:48):
and gave up the ghosts.
Speaker 2 (26:52):
Herod was.
Speaker 1 (26:58):
Sadly because of his vanity and pride, because of his
rebellion against God, because of his persecution against the Church,
because he was a willing vessel of the Jews, of
the devil of Satan, of the kingdom, of the darkness
of this world because he and he knew, they all knew,
(27:19):
they knew better, He knew better. And nevertheless, because of
his pride and arrogance. See God didn't even immediately killed him,
kill him after he killed James. See God would allow,
He permits these devils to you know, even sometimes take
the lives of his saints, it's people. But again after
(27:41):
from the body, we are present with the Lord, and
we know about the persecution of the early Church that
went on for centuries and still goes on again to
this day. It's still very prevalent. Again, although we in
America enjoy a very, very aught to be thankful for
level of free him unlike any other ever in the
(28:02):
history of the world. For the most part, still it's
still is very prevalent in our world that saints of
the Most High God allows them to be executed, murdered,
martyred for the name of Christ, Amen and so Herod.
In this particular case, being an enemy of the Church,
(28:24):
God judiciously decides to.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Take him out.
Speaker 1 (28:31):
And he can do that, I mean, if he chooses
and he certainly chose to do that in this case.
But again, he didn't immediately do it. When he had
killed James, he didn't. He didn't do it when he
arrested Peter, he didn't do it immediately. But Herod's time
came a man when his sins reached the fullness of
(28:54):
herod cup. And that's what happens when you know a person,
of people, a nation, when they're sins the cup is full.
Speaker 2 (29:06):
God brings judgment. And so it was with Herod.
Speaker 1 (29:09):
He was judged at any time by the way, for
any sins all of us, any of us, are worthy
of death a man, the wages of sin is death.
But the gift for God is he hearingal life. But
Herod being lifted up in pride, seeing himself, viewing himself,
receiving the praises of men as if he is God,
(29:29):
as if he is a God and not a mere
mortal man. God ended his days. But look at this
verse number twenty four. What happened after the death of Herod.
The word of God grew and multiplied. You can't stop this, Herod.
(29:53):
You can't stop this government of the Jews, government of
the Gentiles, Kings, governors, mayors, city councilmen, whoever you think
you are, you can't stop this. No king has ever
been able to do it. Earthly king can't stop it.
(30:13):
So it was then, so it is now. So shall
it forever be. Heaven and earth will pass away, Jesus said,
But my word, it will not, it will not. It
will always prevail.
Speaker 2 (30:30):
God.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
We thank you for your word.
Speaker 2 (30:31):
We thank you for.
Speaker 1 (30:32):
The Kingdom of Heaven, the Kingdom of Light, the Kingdom
of Hope, the Kingdom of Joy, the Kingdom of peace,
the kingdom of which you've made us Partakers, Lord, open eyes, ears, hearts. Lord,
let the rebel come to know that you are the
true in the Living God. Be glorified, and all we
(30:54):
say and do in Jesus name, Amen and amens.
