Speaker 1 (00:13):

the Gospel of Jesus Christ, to preach the Word of God,
being instant in season out of season, reproving, rebuking, exhorting,

(01:41):
with all long suffering and doctrine. For as the scriptures
a man foretold, the time will come. And certainly we
know the time has come when people do not want
to hear sound doctrine. But we nevertheless will, by the
grace of God, help of God, by the strength and
power of the Holy Goosest, continue to speak for the

(02:04):
truth of God. Amen, with boldness and clarity in such
a time as this. Amen. All right, we continue in
our series we've been in for several months now, a
man on God, Government, Church, and state. Amen. And certainly
we have made it quite clear I believe through the

(02:28):
Old Testament and New Testament, multilitude of examples where Amen,
God is first and foremost sovereign, reigns and rules over
the kingdom of men, and that Amen. We live in
a fallen world where governments are used by individuals. Amen,

(02:50):
by those of like mind that are in government as well. Amen.
In order to a man oppose a man the Church
of the Living God, make no mistake about it. We
live in a fallen world, and we must understand that
certainly is the people of God. But nevertheless, again the
foundation of God stands sure having to seal. The Lord

(03:10):
knows them that are his. God has his church, he
has his people. There is a remnant. God will never
be without a witness. God cannot lie, he cannot fail. Amen.
And everything that He is promised and spoken concerning us,
we can rest in it and know that it shall
come to pass. And today we're going to focus on, Amen,

(03:32):
what I call the rabble rousers, the rabble rousers. For
those of you who don't know what a rabble rouser is,
you can certainly look it up for yourself. But in short,
they are trouble makers. Amen. They love riots, they love upheaval, turnoil, mayhem,

(03:54):
you name it, Amen, rabble rousers. We know that there
is no shortage of them when it comes to the Church.
And before we begin, we're going to be in the
Book of the Acts. We're going to look at three
examples there. Just take a quick word of prayer. Let's
take a moment, brother and have a quick word of prayer. Again, Father,
we thank you for your word that is true. We

(04:14):
thank you for this day, we thank you for the
breath of life. We thank you for all to your
benefits towards your people everywhere were God. We prayed that
somewhere someone's eyes, ears, and heart first of all, would
be open there is would be attentive, and their heart
will be changed as only you can do by the
power of your Holy Spirit. We praise you now and
believe in your promises in Jesus' thing, we pray give

(04:37):
thanks in advance. Amen and Amen again, there is no shortage. Amen.
Of anti church, anti Jesus, anti Gospel, anti truth. Again,
what I refer to as rabble arousers, Amen, who live
for the opportunity. They cannot even rest. Please make no

(04:57):
mistake about it unless they have done evil. Amen. They
live for the opportunity to oppose and to come against
with everything that they have at their disposal. They've been
the preaching and teaching and dissemination of the Gospel of
Jesus Christ. The rabb arousals. They are children of the

(05:19):
wicked one. Amen. And they seek also to stir up others. Amen.
And they again love to create mayhem, rioting carnage, violence
if necessary. Amen. And they do this against the Truth,

(05:40):
against the Church against the cause of the Gospel, the
dissemination of the Word of God, because they again are
children of the devil, and they are used by him
a man in order to accomplish what he seeks to do,
even though he knows he only has a short time,
he knows his end, Yet he lives in deception, and

(06:02):
he deceives those who are blinded by him. And history,
of course, his replete with examples of these demon possessed
and driven people who simply again cannot rest, they cannot
sleep a many and they certainly can't coexist with the truth.

(06:24):
They have no tolerance whatsoever for the Word of God,
for truth. They don't want people to be liberated and
live in freedom. Amen. Again, this is what the Gospel
is all about. This is why Jesus came to set
the captive free, a man to liberate those who are
in prison and bondage a man to sin. And these,

(06:45):
on the other hand, they love the rabb arousers. They
love bondage, they love lawlessness, and they love exerting control
and their power and influence over others. The r the
rabbi arousers are threatened by the Gospel message, and they

(07:06):
always they e the they always have been, and they
always will be. And and and I wanna point out
again if I as I've already mentioned beforehand, Uh, they
always use the same uh strategy as it were, Amen,
in seeking to uh stop the preaching and dissemination of

(07:26):
the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Uh. They are angry. Uh,
they are hostile, they are violent, they are jealous with
envy and malice. We can see that. It's send the scriptures,
and we've seen it throughout history. They certainly are combative, restless, murderous.

(07:47):
And again, all of this is because they are of
their father, the devil, and the deeds of their father.
They will do. This is what Jesus said to the
Jews who were in stritent opposition against him. Amen, you
are of your father, the devil, and the deeds of
your father. You will do kill, steal, destroy, That's what

(08:08):
they do. They are murderous, they are destructive. Amen, And
they will stop at nothing in their opposition. Amen to
the Gospel of Jesus Christ. All right, We're gonna go
and look at three examples of this in the Book
of the Acts, chapter seventeen, Chapter eighteen, Chapter nineteen. Of course,
this is during the Apostle pauls a man preaching and

(08:32):
teaching of the Gospel, as he sought to a man
do exactly what a man the Lord had commissioned him
to do. And of course you know the history of
the Apostle paulis testimony how he himself was once one
of those who opposed the Gospel. He did it in
ignorance and in unbelief. That's his testimony. Amen. But the

(08:53):
Lord arrested him, and now he has become a man,
one who is hunt, one who is a man sought out,
if you will, by those again who are the rabb
arousers and the haters, and those who loved bondaging, love

(09:15):
to have the power and control and the influence over others.
And so the apostle Paul has become enemy number one.
He at once again was enemy number one to the church.
But now God has changed his journey, if you will,
to now being a friend of God, a friend of

(09:36):
the Church, apostle to the gentiles, going everywhere, preaching the
Gospel to jew and gentile, to anyone who would hear.
And so let's take it up in Acts chapter seventeen,
beginning the verse number one and when they had passed
through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to Thessalonaika, where it
was a synagogue of the Jews. In Paul, as his

(09:59):
manner was, us, went in unto them, and three Sabbath
days reasoned with them out of the scriptures. Paul went
to the Jewish synagogues. This was customary for him, and
he would a man talk with them, speak with them,

(10:20):
debate with them, have conversations. However, it all went down.
But the Bible tells us in version number three, opening
and alleging that Christ must need amen, have suffered and
risen again from the dead, and that this Jesus whom
I preach unto you, is Christ, the Messiah. They were
looking for, the one they were supposedly in anticipation of.

(10:43):
Paul said, he has come. He's the one that you crucified. Amen,
He's the one that died on the cross. He is
that Messiah. And the Bible tells us version of before.
Some of them believed and consorted with Paul and Silas,
and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and of
the chief women not a few. But watch what happens.

(11:06):
See again the rabbit arousers don't like this. They don't
like when people are liberated, when people are freed by
the Gospel. Amen. And so they're gonna amen, do what
they can to oppose the Gospel. Am. Watch what happens
verse number five. But the Jews which believed not moved

(11:29):
with envy. I told you they're jealous. They have jealousy
in their heart. They have malice in their heart, and
they hate that they are no longer in power, no
longer in control. A man of the minds and hearts
of people. They've been a man well, you can call
it marginalized if you will. From their perspective, they've been marginalized.

(11:54):
They're losing converts, they're losing church members, as it were.
And so the Bible says, those Jews who did not
believe they were envious, and they took unto them certain
lewd fellows of the Baser sort. In other words, ne'er

(12:15):
do wells. If you don't know what that is, look
that up. So the rabbit arousers have now recruited some
near do wells. Amen. And the Bible says they gathered
a company, set all the city on an uproar, assaulted
the house of Jason and Salt to bring them out

(12:35):
to the people. There they are there, you go, there,
you go, amen, the Bible says. And when they found
them not they were looking for Paul in Silas chiefly Amen.
For the most part. They that's who they were really after,
the Bible says. When they didn't find them, they drew
Jason and certain brethren onto the rulers of the city.

(12:56):
Now to see what they do. This again, same pattern,
going now to the government, going to the rulers, going
to the officials. They want to take it. They want
to see if they could. They were just completely outlawing.
It is in certain places and ry in America where
we have the freedom, they would absolutely outlaw the preaching

(13:17):
of the Gospel. They would burn and ban every Bible.
They would do everything in their power if they could
a man to stop the truth of God from being
a man disseminated. And so they are looking for Paul
and Silas a man. And so they assaulted the house
of Jason, a man. And when they didn't find them,

(13:40):
they dragged a certain other of the brethren unto the
rulers the government of the city, crying out these that
have turned the world upside down have come here. Also
Jason has received them. And they all are acting what
the Bible says in contrary to the decrees of Caesar.

(14:04):
In other words, they are against Roman law. Caesar is God.
We have God other than this God. They are supposedly
preaching and teaching about a man, and Caesar, by the way,
is God. Amen. And so these are preaching and teaching

(14:24):
some Jesus or some other doctrine that is in a man,
violation to the law of the land, in other words,
saying that there is another king, one Jesus. Now, when
Pilot crucified Jesus, what did he put over the head
of Jesus on that cross? What did he write in

(14:46):
that inscription? This is Jesus, King of the Jews. So
he is king. He was born king, He wasn't made king.
He wasn't a man proclaimed by man, crowned by man
as king. He was and is the eternal king of
kings and Lord of Lord. So not only is the

(15:07):
king king of the Jews, but he's the king of
all kings. And so now they are trying to stir
up the people, get the law, get the government, get
the rulers, a man on their side, saying that these
preaching the gospel have violated the law, saying that there
is another king, Jesus. And the Bible says verse eight,

(15:28):
they trouble the people and the rulers of the city
when they heard these things, and when they had taken
security of Jason. In other words, now Jason has been
arrested and the other they let them go, and the
Brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night, unto
Berea who coming there, that went into the synagogue of
the Jews. So Paul and Silas were able to escape

(15:51):
from that particular situation. But it's not over because they
don't stop. Amen. So the Bible says, after these things
in chapter eighteen, if you will, all departed from Athens,
and he came to Corinth, and the Bible tells us
in verse number four, he reasoned in the synagogue every Sabbath.
This was again what he customarily did, and persuaded the

(16:12):
Jews and the Greeks. And when Silas and Tumothius would
come from Macedonia, brother, the Bible says, Paul was pressed
in the spirit testified to the Jews that Jesus was
Christ they opposed themselves. They blasphemed, and Bible says when
they did this, Paul shook his raiment and said, unto them,
your blood is now up on your own heads a man,

(16:33):
I am clean. From henceforth I will go to the Gentiles.
And he parted from there and entered into a certain
man's house named Justice, a man a man who was
a worshiper of God, the Bible tells us. And his
house was joined to the synagogue, and Crispus, who was
the chief ruler of the synagogue. He also, the Bible

(16:54):
tells us in verse eight, was a believer with all
of his house, and many of the Corinthians. They heard
the Gospel and believed. And we're baptized. Oh watch, watch
what's gonna happen. And before it all comes down. The
Bible tells us here that the Lord appears to Paul.
You know, you know, there are times we're gonna all

(17:15):
need encouragement. We're gonna need boldness, We're gonna need assurance.
We're gonna need to know that God is with us,
and God is for us, and that He has not
left us nor forsaken us. Because there are gonna be
times we're gonna feel that way. We're gonna feel like
we're forsaken. We're gonna feel like we have been left alone,
and God is not present with us. Amen. But the

(17:37):
Bible tells us here in version of A nine, the
Lord speaks to Paul in the night by a vision.
And listen what he tells it. And why is it
necessary for God to do this again? Those times, those
seasons will come, Amen, when the enemy has come in
a man, when the enemy is attacking and assaulting, you're
gonna need to be encouraged. Amen. And so the Lord

(18:01):
comes to Paul and says, be not afraid, but speak
and hold not your peace, for I am with you.
No man shall set on you to hurt you. Look
what the Lord says, For I have much people in
this city, in the city of Corinth. The Lord says,

(18:21):
I love that. By the way, Oh I alwaysh I
had time for that. God already knows, Amen, those whom
he will save and deliver, who will hear and obey
the gospel. And he gives Paul the assurance, I've got
a lot of people in this city. So don't stop preaching,
don't stop teaching, don't be afraid I'm not gonna allow
anyone to hurt you while you're here. And so the

(18:43):
Bible says, he continued there a year and six months,
eighteen months, a year and a half, a man teaching
the word of God among them. And the Bible tells
us go down to verse twelve, when Gallio is the
deputy of a kayah. The Jews made in insurrection with
one accord against Paul and brought him to the judgment seat.

(19:07):
The judgment seat was the judgment seat to the government,
to the government officials. Now here they again the same pattern.
They're gonna always try to get the government on their side.
Watch what happens. So they bring Paul to the judgment seat,
and they said, this fellow persuades men to worship God,

(19:29):
contrary to the law. They're the same old or it's like, look,
they brought up those false witnesses against Jesus and said
that he said with this, that and the other, blah
blah blah blah blah. I mean the same same old,
same old, same old same. The devil has no new tricks,
he has nothing, He has nothing in his arsenal, but
the same repetitive a man tricks and schemes and am old.

(19:54):
There's nothing, nothing new fire. He's firing the same bullets
over and over again, the same, the same darths. Amen,
he doesn't from what he does, because amen, he has
nothing that will work. And so he seeks to intimidate,
he seeks to threaten. And if you can't do that,
if violence comes and murder will come. But that's okay.

(20:15):
We still win. We have one, we have the victory.
And so here they are of the same old verbiage.
If you will, this fellow is persuading men to worship
God contrary to the law. What law, It's so vague,
the charges are vague. And so Paul is about to

(20:36):
defend himself. What happens? Why I love this, by the way,
So Paul is about to defend himself, Gallio, brother, he's
the government official. And by the way, let me say this.
There are gonna be times, and it's in the Bible,
this New Word of God. There are many examples that
I know throughout this series so far kind of focused

(20:56):
on those who have been in government and those who
have been in rulers, places of leadership and rulers of
the of this world. If you will, government, high places
who have been in opposition, who have opposed, who have
themselves sought to again destroy the truth, the word of God,

(21:20):
the movement of this Amen redemption story. But in many cases,
and we'll point some of them out as we go forward. Here,
God has used individuals in government Amen. And not only
has he used certain individuals in government, first and foremost,

(21:42):
he's used individuals in government who are not even saved,
who are not Christians, who are not believers. He's used
even them Amen to defend his people, to help his
people Amen, to help the cause of the Gospel. And
in some cases it wasn't something they intended to do.
But as we're going to see here in this particular

(22:03):
instance here Gallio, who is a government official, is going
to side with Paul. It's going not again that he
is a believer. But God would use anyone that he
so chooses to amen, to amen again for his purpose

(22:24):
not to be thwarted at all. Because God has already spoken,
He's already decreed, and what he and again what he's
already promised to do, is going to happen. And He'll
use any vessel a man saved or unsaved, a man
in order that his word will be performed and not
returned to him void. So in this particular case, Paul

(22:48):
is about to open his mouth, I said Paul. I
wish I could see Oh, I wish I could see it.
Paul is about to speak and try to defend himself.
But watch what happens. When Paul was about to speak,
Gallio said to the Jews, if it were a matter

(23:08):
of Rome, if this was a matter of wicked lewdness,
oh ye, Jews, reason would that I should bear with you.
But if this is a question about words, if you're
coming to me talking about words, if you're coming to
me talking about names, or if this is about your law,

(23:32):
Gallio says, then you look to it. Don't bring him
to me. Don't bring this mess to me. In other words,
I don't want to hear about it. I don't want
to hear about your law, your words. This Jesus, that
you're talking about this violation. This is not about our law.
This is not about Roman law. This is not about Listen.
This is about you and what you want. See. Sometimes

(23:54):
God has people in place who can see right through
and by the way, Pilot knew, the Bible tells us
this Pilot knew that the Jews were envious of Jesus.
Pilot could see right through them. He knew exactly what
they were doing. He knew what it was all about him.
That's why he tried to wiggle his way out of it. Amen.

(24:14):
But nevertheless, again God has people in places, Amen. And
sometimes we don't have to say anything. Sometimes we don't
have to do anything. A man. God will use whomever
he is already ordained and put in place, Amen, to
defend his word, his way, his church, his people. Amen.

(24:36):
So Gallio says, here, listen. If it's a question of
words and names and your law, then you look to it.
I am not going to be a judge of such matters.
And the Bible says he drove them from the judgment seat.
All right, Let's go to Act Ship nineteen. Very quickly.
Look at it. One more example. Here, I man again

(24:57):
of those who again are rabb arousers, who are seeking
to a man hinder the gospel. Again, this is the
apostle Paul verse twenty one. Will drop down there, Pulish.
The Bible says, when he had passed through Macedonia Akaiah
to go to Jerusalem, he says, after I've been there,

(25:19):
I must also see Rome, and he was sent into Macedonia.
Two of them were minister to him, Timotheus and Erastus.
But he himself, the Bible says, stayed in Asia for
a season. And the Bible says the same time there
rose no small stir about that way. I wonder where
that comes from. Where's this rising up against the Gospel,

(25:42):
against the church, against the preaching of the Gospel. I
wonder where that's coming from. The Bible says, there's a
certain man named Demetrius brother. He's a silversmith, and he made,
along with his craftsman, silver shrines for Diana. This is
the temple that's the Heathens. Okay, the temple of Diana,

(26:11):
the temple of Uh. I think I forget the Uh.
There's a Greek name, and there's a Roman name, Uh
for for the Greek goddess Amen. In other words, they
had a temple, and they sold all these little shrines,
and the Bible says they made a lot of money
with this, And the Bible says, of course, he brought
no small gain into the craftsmen, whom when he called

(26:31):
together with the workmen of like occupation, he said, sirs,
you know that by this craft we have our wealth.
More were you seeing hear that? Not alone at Ephesus,
but almost throughout all Asia. This Paul, what is Paul,
is a nemesis. This Paul is a problem. Guys. He
has persuaded and turned away much people saying that they

(26:51):
be no gods which are made with hands. In other words,
they were making all these little idle gods that they
were selling to people. Amen, And they make merchandise of
the people with this foolishness. And Paul is now preaching
the gospel. People are being converted. People are no longer
in need of these idols that they no longer worship.
And so Demetrius is now stirring up the craftsman a man,

(27:17):
the union, if you will, of workers to lay man.
We got to do something about this. We're gonna go broke.
We're losing money, we're losing revenue because Paul has persuaded
these people that there are no gods which are made
with hands. So that not only our craft is in
danger to be set at naught, but also that the

(27:38):
temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised and
her magnificence should be destroyed. Whom all Asia and the
world worshiped. And the Bible says, when they heard these things,
they were full of wrath and cried out, saying, great
is Diana of the Ephesians. And the whole city was
filled with confusion. You see, they started a riot. And

(28:00):
so they went and caught Gaius and Aristocras. They were
men of Macedonias. These were Paul's campaigns and travel and
they rushed with one according to the theater, and the Bible says,
when Paul would have entered into the people, the disciples
did not allow him to do so. And certain of
the chief of Asia, which were his friends. See, Paul
had some friends in high places as well. God will

(28:22):
always amen, set you up with the right people in
the right places at the right time. And so they
sent to Paul, desiring that he would not adventure himself
into the theater. Paul was one of those who felt like,
I believe a man, he could a man argue if
you will, and I'm not saying in a negative way,
but put forth his defense, Amen, and persuade people. Amen.

(28:46):
But amen. His friends said no, no, no, no, Paul, no,
not in this case, it's too hot. It's too heavy
in there. These people are out of control, and you
don't want to go in there. And the Bible says,
some in verse two thirty two brothers. Some therefore cried
one thing one another. The whole assembly was confused, and

(29:07):
most of the people did not even know why they
were there. You see, this is what the devil loves.
Don't even know why they're there. And so they drew
Alexander verse thirty three out of the multitude. The Jews
put him forward, Alexander Beckon with the hand, and was
about to make his defense and to the people. And
when they knew the Bible said that he was a jew,
all with one of voice, with one voice about the

(29:29):
space of two hours. Ladies and gentlemen, this is madness,
cried out, great is Diana of the Ephesians. And so
here comes the town clerk. The government officials are trying
to get everything under control. Where is this coming from?
What is this all about? So the government town clerk enters,

(29:51):
the Bible says, and when he had appeased the people,
he said, ye, man of Ephesus, what man is there
that knoweth not? How that the city of the Ephesians
is a worship of the great Goddess Diana, and of
the image which fell down from Jupiter. Seeing that these
things cannot be spoken against, you ought to be quiet
and to do nothing rashly. For you have brought here

(30:14):
these men. They are not robbers of churches, nor yet
have they blasphemed your goddess. So therefore, if Demetrius and
the craftsmen that are with him, if they have a
matter against any man, if they have a complaint they
want to file, if they are charges that need to

(30:37):
be leveled. In other words, is what he's saying. He says,
we have law, we have order, we have means, we
have a man, rules and things that we abide by.
There's a process, in other words, And so he says,
if they have a matter against any man, the law
is open, and they're a deputies, so let them and

(31:00):
plead one another. In other words, you've got a case
you want to bring against these men, then bring it lawfully.
But if you inquire anything concerning other matters, it must
be determined in a lawful manner, for we are in
danger to be called in question. See, they all ultimately

(31:22):
had to answer to Rome, had to answer to Caesar.
Hey so this is government officials say, well, listen, I'm
not trying to answer for something. I don't even know
why we are here for what we are here for?
And man, what is going on? What is the case?
What is the what is all the confusion? A man,
that's what the devil loves. The Bible tells us God
is not the author of confusion. So if there's confusion,

(31:45):
And then again, most of the people, the Bible says,
didn't even know why they were there, rab arousers. Rabb
arousers have stirred up the people against Paul Amen in
order to stop the preaching of the gospel. So the
town clerk says, listen, folks, we are in danger of
being called in question for this day's uproar. That's his

(32:09):
own words. And there is no cause whereby we are
able to give an account of this concourse, of this
madness that's been going on for hours. This must come
to an end. I am not going to be held
and called up to Rome, stand before Caesar, stand before

(32:31):
the upper crust of the Roman government. And I don't
have a reason. I don't have an explanation I can
explain to them why we got Mayhem going on in
the city, so the Bible says. When he had thus spoken,
he dismissed the assembly. Ah man, oh man, this is again.

(32:53):
This is all because the rabbit a rousers. The rabbit
rousers hate the Gospel. They hate the preaching of the world.
They hate the Gospel. And may I remind you once
again of this promise of Jesus that he made to
us to be made to his church. He said, upon
this rock, I'll build my church. The gates of Hell
shall not prevail against it. Nevertheless, the rabbit arousers will

(33:18):
never stop what they are doing, even though they will
not prevail. Amen. Amen, because we will not be defeated.
We cannot be defeated again. We've already won. Christ has
won for us the victory and again though they will
never cease. Amen in their threatenings, in their violence and

(33:41):
their hostility, and their ambivalence, and their vitriolic hatred, Amen,
and attacks against the Church, stirring up like minded people
and politicians even in our day. Amen to join with
them in their foolhearted and precarious behavior. By the way,

(34:01):
it's all against themselves. Also, they are dooming themselves. As
Paul shook off his raiment and said, hey, your blood
is on your own heads. That's what they're doing. They
are judging themselves unworthy of eternal life. Nevertheless, we the
people of God, the Church of the Living God, we

(34:22):
have an eternal assurance, a blessed assurance, Amen, that we
can always Amen, find rest and peace in our Lord
and Savior, Jesus Christ. Amen. Father again, thank you for
your word. Though the rabb arousers will never cease to exist,

(34:42):
we take refuge under the shadow of the wings of
the Almighty, and we know that we are more than conquerors.
We know that we are victorious. God be glorified in
your people. Everywhere. We give thanks and honor and praise
to you in Jesus' name. Amen and Amen.
