Speaker 4 (00:50):
Shout out to Amy. She always comes through.
Speaker 3 (00:53):
Brailan Edward's good afternoon to you, my friend.
Speaker 4 (00:56):
It is a great afternoon.
Speaker 5 (00:57):
Reason why that is great not only because the energy
is great in the studio. I'm sure you'll get a
sense of that as you watch the show. It may
be raining outside, but it's not raining.
Speaker 3 (01:06):
No, it is not.
Speaker 5 (01:07):
It ain't raining in Augusta. So I'm happy the Masters
is underway. As Ricky has told you guys leading up
to I can't take the credit.
Speaker 4 (01:14):
Exciting.
Speaker 5 (01:15):
This is one of my favorite weeks of the years,
so I'm gonna be tuned in all four days. But
also it's an important day. I will introduce you in
the second match. It is my parents thirty fifth and
shout out to the MP and CP. Love you dearly.
I love the p CP match. Just learned so much
(01:36):
from about marriage. Just learn about support, learn about support
your one another. How they are man, they're they're they're
a well oiled machine. You know, they get into their
fair share of you know, disagreements, but they always come
back to the table. They've always handled each other with
respect and love. Name showed myself as well as my
sister who is also now married, celebrating two years this year.
(01:57):
So to that, I say, congratulations parents, I love you.
Speaker 3 (01:59):
So that is so awesome. And you know they had his.
Speaker 5 (02:03):
Parents were yesterday, right, I didn't know that sixty four
years really, Sam and Claire get out of here.
Speaker 6 (02:10):
Yeah, I mean sixty four years of anniversaries, but sixty
four years, that's for sure.
Speaker 7 (02:16):
I don't know how to do it, but they're still together.
Speaker 3 (02:19):
We were talking on the Fox two show today about
marriage and divorce and all of this stuff, because I
forget what story prompted the discussion, but you know, so
many people now are getting divorces, kind of middle aged,
like they've been married for twenty twenty five years, they're
(02:40):
maybe in their fifties or in their early sixties even,
and they're like deciding, you know what, I kind of
want out. I kind of want to like live my life.
I want to Thanks Braylen, appreciate you, buddy, cheers, But
they're like, you know, I think COVID kind of really
was a precipice for that. Like life is short, you
(03:02):
have only so much time to live, and you want
to do what you want to do, whatever the case
may be. So we got it into this marriage discussion,
and it truly is something where if you've been married
for a long time, you have to and there's a
study about this refall in love with the same person
with your spouse about four times over the course of
(03:26):
a twenty five year or more marriage. Because everybody grows,
everybody evolves, and to see the successful marriages that last
that long, you truly do have to refall in love
with that person.
Speaker 4 (03:41):
Interesting, as you know, I'm just looking at my parents.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
You know I'm in trouble.
Speaker 5 (03:48):
No, But like a lot happens throughout a marriage. You know,
as you're married, now you have kids. You know, now
you're figuring out kids. So now your energy is kids
and work and providing and then your kids.
Speaker 4 (03:57):
They go off to school.
Speaker 5 (03:59):
I left it as they left, and so now you
have to, like you said, okay, it's just us in
the house. Are we comfortable with just us? You have
to refall in love, refine yourself. So I saw those moments,
but I'm glad to say parents were always able to
come back and they always had a great relationship.
Speaker 8 (04:13):
You know.
Speaker 4 (04:14):
It was the Huxtables.
Speaker 3 (04:16):
As you said, well all that to get to MPCP.
Happy anniversary. You set the tone, you set the stage.
Happy thirty five years to you guys. It is awesome. Absolutely.
Dave Burkette coming up in about ten minutes from now.
We'll talk to Dave Brikette about everything. I mean, NFL
(04:37):
draft coming up. He's got his mock draft out there.
The owner's meetings which were last week week and a
half ago, we'll talk to him about that, talked to
him about signing all these injured players, the story from
the Free today, all that more. But I do want
to start with the Detroit Tigers. I have three observations
so far about the Detroit Tigers. They have won three
(04:59):
straights series after their opening series sweep at the hands
of the Dodgers. Do you mind if I share my
three observations? Okay, can you give me a little music here,
we'll dramafy this. You're ready get perfect. That's a perfect
meat for this number one, Number one, and perhaps the
(05:21):
most important. They play twenty seven outs. Yesterday's game was
as impressive a game in a loss that you will
see any team play. They have to steal a line
from Dan Gamble, grit man. They are as gritty a
(05:41):
bunch as you will find in baseball. I love this
team early. I love this team. They play every out,
no gimmes whatsoever. That's point number one. Point number two.
They will pitch every inning. They do not have one
(06:03):
weakness on their pitching staff. Five starters, they'll roll out
all five of them. I feel good about every night
they go out there. You know, there used to be
a time where Uh, let's get you know whoever can't
think of the name off the top of my head.
This guy goes out, you're probably gonna lose the game today,
bullpen game. All five starters they have, and even when
(06:25):
they get into the bullpen, I feel so good about
their pitcher is better than anybody you're trotting out there
collectively in a series. So that's two and number three.
I am concerned about Cold Keith. This is a young
man who is just having a rough start to the season.
(06:48):
And we talk about it's not about talent for professional athletes,
it's what's upstairs. And I am worried that this young
man is having his eggs scrambled a bit. I am
in no way shape or for him. Do not make
any mistake for what I'm saying about him jumping off
the Cold Keith bandwagon. But I am concerned the error
(07:13):
in Seattle, the error yesterday, sure, but the error even
the day before, routine ground ball, the second you're up
five to nothing or whatever, it doesn't matter. So that
goes by the ways I couldn't throw to first base.
Speaker 6 (07:28):
It kind of doesn't matter if you're playing a team
like the Ages, because they can roll out anybody on you.
Speaker 3 (07:33):
They got away with no doubt, they got away with
The Tigers have lost two games in the last ten.
Both losses are on cold Keith. I hate to put
it on the young man. The loss in Seattle was
on cold keith. They don't lose that game if he
doesn't have the brain part, for lack of a better
way to say it. And then yesterday ninth inning error
(07:58):
and you.
Speaker 9 (07:59):
Lose again.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
Because obviously if you keep that to a two nothing game,
you score three in the night, you win. I hate
to put that on the young man, but I am
starting to feel a little concerned about it.
Speaker 7 (08:12):
He's lost at the plate as well.
Speaker 3 (08:14):
Yes, if you're gonna do that in the field, thank
you for making that point. Yes, if you're gonna do
that in the field, you gotta give me something at
the plate, and he's given you he's not. I'm starting
to be concerned. Those are my three points about the
Detroit Tigers early going here.
Speaker 5 (08:31):
My comments on your three points thing one to twenty
seven outs. I think for me, it's the twenty twenty
three season help him get to that point. We watched
how hard you talk about grit? We watched how hard
they fought last year. At the end we were like, oh,
you know what, this is becoming the thing, This is
who the Tigers are. They fought hard all last year.
You saw the excitement that they had. And I think
that stretch run last year from May to August, I
(08:53):
think that built them together. I think that rallied them
together and taught him now to fight to the very
end to the twenty seventh douts. Thing is trust the pitchers.
Pitching has been like you said, it's been like it
was last year. The best assistant coach in the game
is Chris Feder and you see it with the pitching
and pitching has been phenomenal. The only person not the
pitch necessarily well was Terry Scoup. Were in the opening
(09:15):
and if Terry Scoop was a guy that didn't have
a good game, we.
Speaker 4 (09:17):
Said it he will be.
Speaker 5 (09:18):
He will respond and he has responded since the last one.
Coke Keeth, what position does Coke Keith play?
Speaker 3 (09:23):
Out of curiosity second now, but he was first coming
into you were teaching him how to play first All
off season. They were teaching him how to play first
all training camp, playing first base all training camp, all
spring training. I should say, and then the first game
of the season injury to labor tore us Labor Day,
(09:44):
and now he've moved the second. I think he's totally
mind believed.
Speaker 5 (09:47):
So that would be That was my question, because a
lot of this seems like they were trying to force
be this infield that we said was going to be
horrible to start the season, and now you're trying to
force a guy that not necessarily plays that position. So
I think he's unsure of himself. He doesn't know what
position they wanted to play. He doesn't know what position
he actually can play in the major league. So I
would push back a little bit on Coke Keith, but
put somebody else in there.
Speaker 7 (10:08):
To your credit, Listen, they're as gritty as they come.
Speaker 6 (10:12):
I love this team. I've already told you I love
this team. They are a mishmash. No one's really playing
in their position. They're missing players everywhere. Parker Meadows is
the captain of the outfield and you haven't seen him yet.
Speaker 7 (10:25):
We hope to see him in June. We'll keep our
fingers crossed.
Speaker 6 (10:28):
Matt Vierling is an excellent bat off the bench, plays
platoonum utility guy. We haven't seen him yet. And then
you got Colt Keith and they've got him. He's messed up,
and it's definitely the position change. If you remember Moneyball,
remember when they were going out, Billy Bean was going
out with Ron Washington, his coach, and he's going out
and they stop and they stop at the Scott Haddiberg's house.
(10:51):
Scott Hadeberg is going to be out of baseball because
he can't throw anymore. He was a catcher. So they
go there and they're like, hey, we want to offer
you a job. You're gonna be our first basement. He's like,
I'm gonna play first base. He's like, it's easy, You're
gonna be playing first base. Tell him wash, Well, first
base is extremely hard to play. It is what he said.
It was hilarious. Anyway, they stick him there. It doesn't
(11:13):
want to be in there. Wind's up hitting the home run.
You know the whole story on Moneyball. This kid is
completely messed up. And listen to Dan yesterday a little
bit as much as I can and Bobby Scales and
he's swinging at pitches not even near the plate. He
is just yeah, he's in a hobby. Baiaez from last
(11:34):
year slump. The kid needs a break. He's either got
to go down to Toledo or they got to bench
him for a while. And they got enough guys in
there to plug in play. He needs a couple of
days off, or he needs a trip down to Toledo.
The Tigers will fight you. Look at the guys they
trot out. They're trotting out Schooble, Flaherty, Mize, Ryese, Olsen,
(11:58):
Jackson job, the bullpen is phenomenal. Your closing from last year,
Jason Foley, he's in Toledo. He'll probably be back here
pretty soon, or at least by the midbreak. They've got
a lot of talent on this team that I didn't
know really they had.
Speaker 7 (12:14):
They approved me wrong. I didn't think they could do there.
Speaker 6 (12:19):
I'm totally on the Tiger bandwagon here, totally not so
it's not a bandwagon. I'm totally with them, and I'm
just do what you gotta do, is Scott Harris, You've
done it so far, and aj Hinch is the best
manager in baseball.
Speaker 4 (12:34):
I'm glad you said that.
Speaker 5 (12:35):
Look as it relates to aj hinchtin like I have
been on that as well. I thought he's the best
manager in baseball. We talked about that that's what was
gonna get them going this year. But the one thing is, Ryan,
you were kind of with the Tigers being the best
team in AL. You said that before the season started.
I want to give you credit to ask what made
you see what I definitely didn't see. What made you
see what? Apparently even Maz didn't see? What did you
(12:58):
see about this Tigers?
Speaker 3 (12:59):
In all fairness, I said that with the thought that
Alex Bregman was going to be on this team, in
all fairness, but that doesn't mean that I did think
and an AL Central Division champion. To be honest with you,
I just thought that this team granted the Riley Greens
and Kerry Carpenters, the Spencer Torkelsons, those guys and the
(13:20):
last Parker Meadows was a big reason why I said that.
He's been out of the lineup, and it almost feels
like Torkelsen has replaced what I thought you'd get out
of Parker Meadows. So even though the names have changed,
the production in that part of the lineup has come.
You know, It's almost like in the NFL Draft, I
(13:40):
was like Jon Robinson, b Jon Robinson okay, the name
right position, but the right position, the right thought, the
right thought process. So again, even though I thought they
beginning this production out of Parker Meadows, who I thought
was on the verge of not only an All Star year,
but one of those guys and you know what I
mean by those guys, and they're getting that from Torque
(14:02):
now and the pitching is elite. Look baseball, if you
have a better picture, It's like the NFL, Show me
who the quarterback is, and I'll tell you who's gonna
win the game ninety percent of the time. No different
in baseball. Kind of show me who the picture is,
show me what the starting pitching matchup is, and I'll
show you who's gonna win seventy percent of the time.
Speaker 5 (14:22):
There's another Tiger. Mass is hitting well. Like you look
at the best Tiger right now. As a place of hitting,
A lot of people will say Spencer Torbals and maybe
even say Riley Green because the bombs and he's in.
Speaker 4 (14:30):
Zach McKinstry is hitting everybody.
Speaker 6 (14:33):
He doesn't know he's a bad hitter. There you go,
he has no idea that he's a bad hitter. That's
how good he is playing. Why do people call me
during the show.
Speaker 5 (14:41):
Sorry, he's playing like he has a hitting out and
I want to say, the last five games in a
row like he's hitting off. But he's just hitting at
an immaculate clip. But it's just funny because once again,
here we are, this guy make history. Won't last with
the Tigers. This guy's Sweeny's not gonna be the guy.
This guy, Well, they're still here, they're still fighting, and
they're still strong.
Speaker 4 (14:59):
Best start to.
Speaker 7 (15:00):
Hobby's playing better, right, Seriously, he's better.
Speaker 3 (15:06):
He's right alto, but he's better. He is. But just
a point about mckinstrey for a second. When you when
you are a team like the Tigers, who are as
banged up to start the season as you are, you
need a player like a McKinstry to get hot as
like just a little period, like a three or four
game period where you're hot a little bit. And do
(15:29):
we expect Zach McKinstry, no offense, to stay this hot
throughout the rest of the season. No, But maybe when
he cools down a little bit, you get veeling back,
and veeling gets hot a little bit. Hell, we'll take
Hobby Bayaz for a three or four game stretch Torkosen
you like a elongated period. But uh, you know Dylan Dingler,
(15:50):
he gets hot a little bit. Just little pieces where
you have a guy get hot and stay hot for
a series that will help you win a lot of games.
Speaker 4 (16:00):
Yeah, also too, I'm a harp.
Speaker 5 (16:01):
I'm going too harp on the fact how they finished
that season and I didn't even talk about what happened
once they got into the postseason. They won the first
round of the playoffs. That goes a long way, I remember,
And they snuck in in two thousand and nine, the
New York just we snuck into the playoffs. We had
no business making the playoffs, made the playoffs, got to
the SC championship. But that run, that getting in late,
(16:23):
that grit, that fight, that beating the Chargers on the road,
that beat, you know, that taught us The next year
we were in a couple of tight spots, but we
had had that experience, We had that grit, We experienced
what it was like to relax, to be calm, and
to know that you could regardless of what the circumstance was.
Speaker 4 (16:38):
So that's playoff runt last year.
Speaker 5 (16:41):
Don't ever underestimate that they're playing like this now and
it's a long season that's gonna keep coming into play.
So I'm glad they were able to win that round
las year because it's going to benefit them in the
postseason just in the mid stretch this season as well.
Speaker 3 (16:52):
Without questioning, Tigers off today. They started a six game
road trip at Minnesota tomorrow and then at the Milwaukee Brewers,
and I'm kind of glad they're out of here for
a little while because get some good weather. The weather
does suck. And I don't mean to hert. I was
talking to my dad the other day, actually he was.
He was like, I'm so upset that they play the Yankees.
(17:12):
One time year. We were saying about this, but they
have two thousand people this time of year. The Yankees
come to town, and you know, nobody wants to go
to the games. I mean, they're they're right in the
middle of the day when the Yankees come in. I
like the day games. When the Yankees come in, it
should be a night game, you know what I mean.
It was supposed to be not I know they were
said Derek Cavro, we had to move them. But I
(17:35):
will tell you this much, So I am glad baseball
does look at the forecast now is not married to
a start time, and they said, okay, let's get the
game in and uh, let's move and adjust the time
of the game.
Speaker 7 (17:51):
Baseball better. We takeing care of the tigers.
Speaker 3 (17:53):
Man.
Speaker 6 (17:53):
As far as the gate, they lost a lot at
the gate. Man, they lost a lot at the gate.
Speaker 5 (18:00):
I'm not fighting anyway, No, I was just gonna say,
what about the people that had tickets for six fifteen
and now they were like, oh, we can't make the
one o'clock game?
Speaker 4 (18:07):
What about those people?
Speaker 6 (18:08):
They let you swap them? You know you're not getting
the same kind of game. Yeah, yeah, you know. Fruit flies.
Speaker 3 (18:14):
Yeah, it was a fruit fly right around our right
around our face. Dave Brick can't expect you to join
us momentarily. Get him break so when he when he
calls in, we'll talk some lies. Did you guys see
how the Chicago White Sox lost the game to Cleveland yesterday?
Speaker 7 (18:31):
They lost it in White Sox style.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
I feel bad for the Chicago White Sox obviously personal
connection to that organization now, but they had they were
down three to one. In the bottom of the ninth
base hit to left, tying run going to score the
plate and the runner rounding third pulls a hamstring and
(18:54):
pulls up short. Have you ever seen anything like it?
That's bad, that's bad luck. And then he just gives
himself up midway through the third base line. And that
was the most Chicago White Sox way to lose a
baseball shoolie.
Speaker 4 (19:11):
Joe Jackson really put a curse on that team. It
was it nineteen eighty.
Speaker 7 (19:16):
One World Series. Their entirety, they won one World Series.
Speaker 4 (19:21):
He didn't even he didn't even save points.
Speaker 3 (19:23):
No, he didn't do anything wrong. If you look.
Speaker 5 (19:25):
At his stats and that I'm so sorry I went off.
You look at stats in the World Series, it's impossible
to shave shave points.
Speaker 7 (19:30):
He just signed. He was illiterate, Yeah he was, Joe,
he was. He was signing. He had no idea. What
the hell? They had to.
Speaker 4 (19:39):
Flow again and went out there and put on a show.
Speaker 7 (19:42):
If you guys missed eight men?
Speaker 3 (19:43):
Is it? Eight Men out of Night?
Speaker 7 (19:46):
John Cusack and the guys. That's the hell of a movie.
Speaker 6 (19:48):
I haven't seen watched twenty five thirty years, but it's
definitely worthwhile.
Speaker 7 (19:52):
But I think I will go back and watched that.
Speaker 3 (19:53):
Last night was a lonely night it was. Last night
was a lonely nights man. There was no Tigers on
it night, There was no Pistons, there was no Red Wings.
The best thing that happened last night was that Luka
Doncic played in Dallas last night. And boy was that
an emotional scene or what I kind of felt some
(20:15):
kind of way for Luka Doncic.
Speaker 4 (20:17):
I definitely felt the way for Luca Donaci.
Speaker 5 (20:19):
Look in the era of athletes wanting to go, you know,
to other teams and like fans, you know, burning jerseys
when players leave.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
Remember when Lebron left?
Speaker 5 (20:27):
How many times they're gonna burn jerseys in Cleveland and
other places like.
Speaker 4 (20:30):
You never see the same level of respect.
Speaker 5 (20:33):
You think you get some cheesy message when you come
back to that arena, but what you saw yesterday never happens, and.
Speaker 4 (20:38):
It takes you back to the trade.
Speaker 5 (20:41):
Nobody leans into the emotion of going back to where
you've played before.
Speaker 4 (20:45):
Nobody leans into the emotions.
Speaker 5 (20:46):
I mean, I definitely didn't have the best of times
in Cleveland, but there was an emotion there for Luca.
I mean for other athletes, you don't lean into it.
It's like appreciate you, thank you for the video, you
stand up, you wave. You not because you wanted to
leave the franchise that you were just that now you
wanted to go, or it was a mutual respect in
this situation, or the fans wanted you going to There
(21:06):
was something why it had to happen.
Speaker 4 (21:09):
This one is it's a head scratcher because you want
to see the emotion. That's real emotion.
Speaker 5 (21:15):
That's a young man that has lived his life there,
that is given his life to the Dallas Mavericks, to
that organization. You look at the status, you look at
the numbers, you look at what he's done, and it's
six years there, seven years there. I've never seen a player,
never seen anything like this happen in the middle of
the night. Did you see the fans? Usually when the
player comes back, there's applause in the beginning, it's all right, cool.
(21:38):
He got us to the Western Conference finals once or twice,
got us to the finals last year. You never see
the fans cheer during the game. Though during the game
it's over, it's like boo, he's on the other team.
They cheered for Luca the whole night, which makes me
think this is way above the paygrades of everybody involved.
This is again the league. This is once again them
(22:01):
making something happen. They show they took Luka Doniching and
they placed him in La it was, and then Nicocollins.
He's the fall guy. Nico Collins, he's not the best
business man. We know he's the fall guy in this scenario.
This is Adam Silver. This is the NBA trying to
get Lebron another championship or just trying to place Luca
(22:22):
Dona Chick in La Bad.
Speaker 3 (22:24):
More on that in a second.
Speaker 6 (22:25):
R J.
Speaker 3 (22:25):
Graham says, Ryan so true. I was lonely, so I
watched Sonic the Hedgehog movie. Now between games we'll get
back to Doncic. I want to get bring in our
great friend Dave Bricatt from the Detroit Free Press, Detroit
Lions beat reporter there and of course, author of the fantastic,
(22:46):
fantastic book Michigan Sports, writer of the Detroit Detroit Lions,
and illustrated timeline you can order anywhere books are sold.
First and foremost, before I mentioned anything regarding the Detroit Lions,
I have to put Dave on a list for Parent
of the Year. I saw him at opening day with
his son and I thought that was I was so
(23:09):
jealous that I was working and I like that is
dad of the Year material. Bravo to you.
Speaker 10 (23:19):
Here years I was taken him out the roster last
year school, I think I was a I think he
I got more points for doing a last farm than
this year. But maybe st thing will do from now on.
Speaker 3 (23:30):
That's awesome.
Speaker 4 (23:31):
That's awesome.
Speaker 3 (23:34):
Dave, talk to me about this offseason and just a
big picture, big picture after free agency, after the owners meetings,
what do you think the big theme for the Detroit
Lions organization is heading into the draft. I mean it
feels like a lot, but just over the last couple
(23:55):
of months free agency, owners meetings, where do you think
the Detroit Lions organization is right now heading into the
NFL Draft in the year twenty twenty five.
Speaker 11 (24:06):
Yeah, No, I think it's Look, they're they're running it
back right. They they're telling everyone that obviously they have
some financial commitments long term, but they thought they had
a team that could have should have maybe would have
won the Super Bowl had they been healthy, and they're
willing to bet that they can do it this year.
And look, they need some pass rush help and I
think that'll be a theme, you know, over the next
(24:28):
couple of weeks, like who do they get where do
they get it? You know, do they still need to
make a move and sort of the trade market or
with anyone else that's still out there. You know, they
certainly need to give Hutchinson some help somewhere. But ultimately,
I think when you look at this team when they
report for training camp, it's going to look a whole
lot like the team from last year, and they're going
to say, hey, we're good enough to do it this year,
(24:50):
and let's see what happens.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
I want to ask you too about the owners meetings,
because one of the things we look, you know, Max
Crosby signs his deal, Miles Garrett signs his deal Tigers.
The Lions really didn't I would say fair to say
sign a big free agent this offseason. And I thought
Brad Holmes and Dan Campbell really explained themselves well, notwithstanding
(25:13):
DJ Reid, I'm sorry about that defensive line. I thought
they explained that and their reasoning pretty well. What say
you about that?
Speaker 11 (25:25):
Yeah, and you know reads a big name, but he
just basically replaced the one big name that you lost
with Karen Davis. So sort of an even trade there.
And look, I think you know, we all knew knew
that to be the case, right, like the amount of
contracts they had last year, the amount of guys coming
up both this year, Aiden Hutchinson, Kirby Josephs to next year,
(25:46):
you know, with all those guys from the twenty twenty.
Speaker 3 (25:48):
Three draft class.
Speaker 11 (25:50):
But it's nice to have some clarity on it, you know,
And I think fans appreciate that. And even if you
disagree with it or think they should have done more,
you can understand where they're coming from and wanting to
keep guys together. And so I think it's.
Speaker 12 (26:03):
Important for you know, the organization to do that to
to you know, maybe not lead people on to explain,
you know.
Speaker 11 (26:11):
Because we've always said, I know, we've talked about it
here before too, like this is about cash. It's not
about cap necessarily, right.
Speaker 12 (26:17):
You have a big outlay.
Speaker 11 (26:18):
Of cash that you have to pay people when you
sign these deals, and so you know, there are forces
at work like that that just make it difficult to
do both. And the Lions has certainly gone down the
path of wanting to make this thing sustainable for the
long term.
Speaker 12 (26:35):
And they believe The right way to do that is
to keep all these these talented players that they picked
in the draft, you know, around and make them cornerstone
pieces to what they're trying to accomplish.
Speaker 7 (26:46):
Hey, Dave, you've been busy, man. We've been reading your
stuff every and every day.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
Siate it.
Speaker 6 (26:50):
I got the Dave Brickett alert, So right to them.
The other day you put something out, ain't us? Rakestraw
is going to be a guy they depend on. A
few weeks ago we talked about matt how many corners
are they gonna sign?
Speaker 7 (27:01):
Are they going to three defensive linemen? What the hell
are they?
Speaker 3 (27:05):
Right here?
Speaker 2 (27:06):
Man?
Speaker 11 (27:08):
Well, and we'll see how how big a role, you know,
Ray Straw has. He has to earn his way, but
you know he'll have some opportunity here now that he's healthy.
And you know, Kendall Vildor is coming off an injury,
and Mick Robertson is coming off an injury, so he
should get plenty of plenty of run. I'm sorry, not
Vildor Dorsey is coming off an injury. Vildor of course
is gone, but he'll have some opportunity here to maybe
(27:30):
earn some some playing time and in OTAs in mini
camp and heading into summer. Look, you know, Braglan probably
knows this or maybe saw it on some of the
teams he was on. Defensive backs have the highest injury
rate in the NFL. It's just the way that the
game is right now, you know. And and even though
that position has gotten bigger, it's the size of those
(27:51):
guys comparative to some of the others. And so, you know,
I think the Lions, as I look at the collection
of talent that they have, they've they have a pretty
good group there. Like you know, there's when you add
a couple of the veterans that that you add this offseason,
Avonte Maddox, Rock, you Sin, and those guys are going
to be like your fifty or six cornerbacks. Like, You've
got some pretty good depth there.
Speaker 12 (28:11):
So that should be enough, hopefully to get the Lions
through this season.
Speaker 6 (28:18):
Hey Dave, considering today, I looked at your your latest today,
and this is something that always gets me.
Speaker 7 (28:24):
We all know that.
Speaker 12 (28:29):
Where you're going.
Speaker 6 (28:29):
Man, I think you wrote that for me. I mean,
we all know he loves his injured players. You put
out your top three injured draft picks. I know the
first one coming from Alabama. Tell the peeps what uh
in case they don't want to read, tell them what
they miss today?
Speaker 11 (28:45):
Yeah, look, I mean you you know it that. I mean,
this has happened every year where Brad has taken a
player with an injury history and you know that player
maybe has not been able to contribute as a rookie
because of it, and he's betting long term. You know,
it happened with Jamison Williams, right, he didn't play much
as rookie year and.
Speaker 12 (29:03):
Now he's one of the best deep threats in the NFL.
Speaker 11 (29:05):
You know what happened with level Zerite. They gambled that
his back was going to be okay, it wasn't and
they didn't get any production out of him really until
last season. You know Rakestraw last year he had a
hernia that he didn't do anything in the spring, and
you know he missed a lot of the year. And
so I do I think it's good to look ahead
at some of these guys that could be on the
Lions list that you know, maybe could fall have the
(29:27):
talent to go higher. But when you're the Lions, look, maz,
here's part of it, right, is like the Lions have
a really good roster, and so they they maybe especially
in the first round, when you have five years on
these guys, like you don't necessarily need that guy right away.
So if a Jahad Campbell is there, you know he's
coming off Labraham surgery, there's no idea you know, when
(29:49):
he's going to be ready or it's not clear yet.
I should say, you know, we don't know if he'll
be ready for the start of the regular season. Josh
Simmons is a guy that you know, I've thought about
that name a lot. Is maybe a potential first round
pick for the Lions at number twenty eight, offensive tackle
from Ohio State. Really good player, you know, probably a
top you know, twelve pick if he was healthy. But
he tore up a tele atendon in his knee in
(30:12):
October and so he's going to slide down draft boards. Well,
maybe the Lions are in a spot where they feel like, hey,
we have the right medical staff, this is the right
type of player. This is a premium talent that we
can get in the twenties.
Speaker 12 (30:25):
And that's the type of guy that normally you would
get at fourteen, and that guy can be an anchor
for us.
Speaker 11 (30:30):
So yeah, just highlighted those guys. Benjamin Morrison from Notre Dame,
the cornerback, was the other player I mentioned in that story.
He's more of a second round pick, but I'd be
I'd certainly be keeping an eye on some of those
guys if I was a Lions fan.
Speaker 5 (30:42):
Ol Man day between the mixture of picking Layton the
draft and this really being a boring draft, I'm not
saying it's not a good draft, but as Ryan or
Miid said, and I echo, this a boring draft. It's
really nothing more than the top four. You try to
find questions about this draft. So here's a question for
you about the Lions. What would success look like to
you for the Lions in this draft? And let's assume
(31:03):
that down the line they go ahead and get Zadarius Smith,
because I think they're pretty much going to bring him back.
Speaker 4 (31:07):
I think they were waiting for him.
Speaker 5 (31:08):
To realize that the market that he thought was there
wasn't and come back for a cheaper price. Let's assume
they get him. What does success look like in this
draft of the Lions to you?
Speaker 11 (31:18):
Yeah, you know, Brave, that's a great question because ordinarily
you say, you know you want three starters, out of
the draft and they don't have to be like day
one starters. But man, the Lions roster is so deep,
like that just is not there. There's such a good,
talented team that I think you have to judge it
a little bit different, and so I don't I don't
know that it's I'm looking for instant impact necessarily, but.
Speaker 12 (31:42):
You know it's it's when you can get it.
Speaker 11 (31:45):
Look, Brad has done a really good job of going
to get his guys. You know, he went to get
Terry on Arnold, he went to get Jamison Williams. He's
very convicted about.
Speaker 12 (31:53):
The guy in the draft, even even Gibbs right like
he was at six, the guy they wanted, Devin Winerson
wasn't there, so he moved to a spot where he
could get Gibbs at twelve, and he was convicted.
Speaker 11 (32:04):
No matter what other people said.
Speaker 12 (32:06):
So I am I'm anxious to see who that guy
is that he is very convicted about this year, and
if it's someone that can help them right away, because
I don't think there's a lot of spots on this
team that can help them right away. But hey, maybe
it's a number three receiver and all of a sudden
you're like, or a wide receiver and you're like, well,
that tells us something about whether they're going to bring
Jamison Williams back sign or not. So I think there
(32:30):
are some.
Speaker 11 (32:30):
Some longer term storylines that maybe we can read into.
Speaker 12 (32:34):
Based on even if it's a guy like Josh Simmons.
Speaker 11 (32:36):
Right, they traded to get Geo Menu last year in
the fourth round because they thought he was going to be,
you know, left tackle of the future. Now they're talking
about playing him at guard. Well, if they go out
and draft a left tackle high, maybe that tells us
something about what they want.
Speaker 3 (32:50):
To do at that position. Hey, Dave, this feels like
and I heard some one of the national NFL draft
analysts say, this is a starter's draft. There may not
be a ton of stars in this draft, but this
is a starter draft. You will find really good players,
solid players here. Does that feel like a draft that
(33:12):
sets right up in lines up for the Detroit Lions
being to what they need overall to kind of sustain
this success?
Speaker 12 (33:22):
Yeah, you know, I think yes, because obviously Brad has
done a good job of getting players regardless of position,
that you know, have some some starting value and can
be you know, long term contributors for them. You know,
Britlant was right, there's there's four players at the top
of his draft, and you know, really there's two players,
(33:43):
right a Blue Carter and and Travis Hunter, and depending
on how you view the quarterbacks, and then you know,
there's a few other guys, right, Mason Graham's a really
good player, and Ashton Gent and so there's a few
other guys. But that list of like you know, blue
chip or almost blue chip talents just isn't very long
this year. So after you get past that, I.
Speaker 11 (34:02):
Think it really does it or really.
Speaker 12 (34:04):
Is going to tell you a little bit about, you know,
the eye for talent evaluation and the ability to develop
that talent that those organizations have and and certainly the
Lions have done a good job with both of those
things the past four seasons.
Speaker 6 (34:17):
Hey, Dave, last one, what's your take on all the
number changes? I know Ryan and I kind of complained
about it, you know, like, hey, I just bought a jersey.
How you changing the numbers? What's your take on all
of that?
Speaker 12 (34:29):
My take is I got my son an Amenrod jersey
for Christmas or Santada, and he's not listening. To I'm sorry,
but Santa got him an Amen Roger and the jerseys
that he wanted.
Speaker 11 (34:41):
Where Amen Ra you know, Gibbs and Brian Branch And
I'm just happy Santa did not get.
Speaker 12 (34:46):
Him a given a jersey too. That is yeah, that's
not that's not good anymore. So look, I feel for
people that maybe bought that jersey that you know, don't
you know, maybe need to get a new one now
or the number isn't the same, you know. I guess
that's life in the NFL. Uh, you know, can't you know,
can't fault these guys too much. They all have reasons
(35:06):
they want to go back to these numbers. But I
do feel for the fan that that maybe misses out
because of that.
Speaker 7 (35:11):
Hey, our friend Dan Katowski wanted me to let you
know that Jack Burkette is getting a detention for an
unexcused now at UH at Orchard Lake.
Speaker 12 (35:22):
So sorry, yeah, yeah, no, that's all right. He's gonna
have to deal with it.
Speaker 4 (35:30):
I learned about Parrot is always right.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
Dave, thanks so much. We can't thank you enough, my friend.
Great stuff as always, and we'll look forward to talking
to you down the road. Uh check in with Dave
thanks on on x at Dave Brikette of course freak
dot com and buy the book Detroit Lions and Illustrated
Timeline anywhere books are sold. Four time Michigan Sports Writer
(35:55):
of the Year. Pretty good stuff. There is that greater.
Speaker 7 (35:58):
Thank God he went for the Aman Saint.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
Brown seriously, and I was gonna ask him about that,
but I wanted to ask. I know, we were running
a short on time and I wanted. I wanted to
get something on the field. But I'm I'm kind of
and I had this happened to me with Michigan. I
am the true epitome of a fan. Though, like I
(36:22):
will admit to you, I have my convictions about some things.
But man, I ride that pendulum wave too. I swing
with that pendulum.
Speaker 7 (36:33):
I do, I do.
Speaker 3 (36:34):
I look, you get what you get with me, Okay.
I'll always be honest. I'll always give my assessment that
particular day. It may change from day to day, but
I am going to ride the wave with you all.
And I'm kind of back on now. I just as
(36:55):
we get closer to the draft, as I look around
the league, as you look at the guys on this
freaking team, who's better than them? Right now. Why not
in the North, And that's what you gotta do, right
just specifically in the North. Just look there. Who's better
(37:15):
than them? No body, nobody. I'm back on, guys, I'm
back on. Just look at the schedule again before you're
back on. It's fine, I'm onto.
Speaker 4 (37:27):
It's funny.
Speaker 5 (37:28):
I mean to be honest, you neither when you were off.
Neither one of you guys are off. You just had
some concerns as how the season ended. That's that's fine.
Like that's not even a fan. That's an honest person,
as Ricky calls you, an honest human.
Speaker 4 (37:43):
If you will.
Speaker 5 (37:43):
I took this out of what Dave Burkhead was saying.
The first thing was he's going to get his guy.
Like every year Brad Holmes has got his guy. Every
year his guy has been what with this team? This
guy has been the guy. This guy has been the guy.
You look at it, guys, he's gone and.
Speaker 4 (37:57):
Get you, Like, how did he know to get your
mere Gibbs And how did he know they get that guy?
That was his guy?
Speaker 5 (38:02):
I mind Rossi and Brown was this guy before he
got to the fourth round And he's told us all that.
Speaker 4 (38:06):
So he's gonna get this guy.
Speaker 5 (38:08):
Also, what you just alluded to, refalling in love with
the team and a roster, such a good roster. That's
what dee bert Ket said, who had the same concerns
as us when we talked to him in February as
well as March. So if dee Berth came on here
and said it's such a good roster, now you fall
in love again because you look at they were fifteen
and two with injuries. They were fifteen and two with
(38:30):
the meek Robinson. At the end of the season, they
were fifteen and two in spite of what the defense
had because of the injuries.
Speaker 4 (38:39):
So you look at it again, you look.
Speaker 5 (38:40):
At health, You look at another year for some of
the younger guys. Last year, Sam Laporter was injured. Last year,
he wasn't around a lot. Now you get him readministered
into the offense. You're right, You're right.
Speaker 4 (38:52):
That was so that was one thing. That was another
thing I took.
Speaker 3 (38:54):
You could just expound real quick because you bring up
a great point. Brad Holmes, Yeah, we did this thing yesterday,
maz hit or Miss. It was a great idea from Braylen.
We did hit or miss. Lot of fun Brad Holmes
edition correct, and this is what really sent me over
the edge to be back on hit or miss. And
(39:14):
we took twenty twenty four out because again we don't know,
We don't know. I don't Ennis Rakestraw could be an
all pro correct, We have no idea. So I took
we did not do twenty twenty four not enough time.
But I do think it was worth pointing out rounds
one and two. Okay, rounds one and two nine and
(39:36):
one hit to miss ratios.
Speaker 7 (39:38):
Was hook or the miss?
Speaker 3 (39:39):
No, that was a third round pack. Yeah, in rounds one, two, three,
and four twenty twenty one to twenty twenty three, one, two,
three and four twelve hits three miss. Wow, Yeah, it's crazy.
Speaker 7 (39:57):
That's damn good in the.
Speaker 9 (39:58):
First four rounds.
Speaker 3 (40:00):
Now, that's that include a fifth rounder like a Malcolm
Rodriguez or somebody like that that fills out your roster.
Speaker 5 (40:07):
The one thing we didn't talk about was the mister
drafting Jalen Carter. But I left it alone yesterday.
Speaker 4 (40:11):
I had to bring it back today just to be honest, authentic.
Speaker 5 (40:14):
What I will say is the other thing that point
to speaking of Brad Holmes drafting, you can tell that
because of them being good now, because them having foundation,
because them drafting their players from twenty twenty one till now.
Speaker 4 (40:26):
Last year, they're getting bored and creative. Giovanni Mankneu. Did
you hear what Dave burkehett said. Keep in mind they
moved up to go get this guy.
Speaker 5 (40:36):
You can't create a left tackle after playing in this league,
after playing football my whole life.
Speaker 4 (40:42):
You can't create a left tackle. He's either a left
tackle or it's not.
Speaker 12 (40:45):
You.
Speaker 5 (40:47):
You can't make a project a left tackle. You can
make a project a guard. You can make a project
the center. You can't make guard left tackle. So I
think this is them rosters in stack teams in stack
they feel calm the boat, not necessarily a ton of
picks down there. I wonder if we could maybe make
this work for U. Let's see if it worked. I
think that was them being bored last year.
Speaker 3 (41:08):
Read some of the chat here, Cody Angles See Ryan,
we told you relax. Uh, sometimes you gotta let things
play out. Championships aren't one. In March Fontana, you fellows
need to extend your program to more than two hours.
We appreciate that. Fontana, Mike. She agrees having concerns is
completely different than flip flopping and turning your back like
Ryan and mass did. Anybody that hates you hates me.
Speaker 7 (41:37):
I just don't care.
Speaker 3 (41:39):
Justin says it's having an elite scouting department and knowing
what types of players you're looking for. Jug says Ryan,
we love your passion. Sometimes it causes a bit of
a bad take. Thank you Ricky for that. And I
appreciate that. I agree Ryan is back more than more
(42:00):
rushing yards up. This just jumped on me. Yo, Ryan
got a haircut and wearing a hat, say less, I
just look, I left Fox today. I come to work
in a suit and tie every day and I take
off the tie, put my vest down or whatever. It's fine.
I had the afternoon where I was coming to get
(42:20):
a haircut today and I don't know if this is
good or not, but I get up there sweatpants, tennis shoes,
Woodward sports zip up and I was going with its.
Thanks man, I appreciate that.
Speaker 5 (42:36):
The other thing about the bronholes things, First of all,
don't don't show them those buckets again.
Speaker 4 (42:42):
The table man, this is only for you.
Speaker 3 (42:44):
Leaf clouds.
Speaker 4 (42:47):
They were old, they were old, they were over cloud. No, no, no,
no brand dope. But those are those are buckets, man,
those are the brand qualities slippers.
Speaker 3 (43:01):
To me though.
Speaker 4 (43:04):
About I was trying to have his back.
Speaker 5 (43:07):
You see now, if I do that right, if I
raised the shoe up, you see what I'm saying is
heat heat right, I'm messing with you. The other thing
that we talked about mass is to the point of
brown Holmes, Now, we will see because the verdict is
still out because last year was the first year that
(43:28):
he picked what picked later in the draft, Terry and
Arnold second round. In this raid struck, we put them
on Pauls talking about we need to see what those
two are going to be.
Speaker 4 (43:36):
And then this year, this is another year where we're
twenty eight. So this is going to fully tell.
Speaker 5 (43:42):
The story of who Brad Holmes is in the draft
because I'm not going to say it's easy, because a
lot of people have had that title and.
Speaker 4 (43:47):
Couldn't do what he did. But when you're getting two first.
Speaker 5 (43:49):
Rounds a year and you're getting nine draft picks a year,
it's a little easier when they're in the top. So
I'm excited to see what this looks like in this
season too, because it's gonna tell the full tell player.
Speaker 3 (44:00):
By the way, we will too. Yeah, Ricky got there.
There's no question about I thought we're bringing our shoes off.
Speaker 12 (44:06):
Let me see, Ricky, let me see what.
Speaker 4 (44:08):
You got on your phone?
Speaker 3 (44:10):
Away air man?
Speaker 9 (44:14):
There you go every day every day.
Speaker 3 (44:18):
Well, air man, I get some balances.
Speaker 13 (44:20):
Good job, good job. But you know what do you
got going on over there? You sho the whole shoes
on over there? I war a slip on today because
it's bulling night.
Speaker 3 (44:31):
Oh skel shoe on.
Speaker 4 (44:33):
I gotta get you some sketching, sketch. You's got some
cool little spots for you.
Speaker 3 (44:36):
You you am I too young for the sketcher. No,
I just want to slip my feet into a shoe.
All does it? Are you? Forty five forty six.
Speaker 4 (44:50):
Sketch?
Speaker 9 (44:50):
What?
Speaker 4 (44:52):
They're very comfortable, I think.
Speaker 6 (44:53):
So I need you to send me some pictures for
what type of pictures? The sneaker pictures? Okay, come on,
now go down that road. I'm I need some sneaker pictures.
You know that that I can I could buy. There's
a lot of things I buy. I bring them home,
my girls tell me to take them back.
Speaker 3 (45:10):
That okay, So hold on.
Speaker 4 (45:11):
What's what's the budget? That's the important question.
Speaker 3 (45:13):
What's our budge?
Speaker 10 (45:14):
Man?
Speaker 7 (45:16):
I guess there's no budget for good shoes?
Speaker 3 (45:20):
All right, baller, yep, Ryan is sound sound kayak. This
is a great one. Ryan is an acquired taste, kind
of like Emperor t You gotta acquire the taste, right,
I'll take it.
Speaker 6 (45:33):
H Cody Angle says, I'm a I'm a hey dude, guy, Hey, dude,
used to be on our show.
Speaker 4 (45:41):
Should be a good showing on Nickelodeon back and.
Speaker 3 (45:43):
Then considering I nearly tore my hamstring trying to put
my uh leg up on the street.
Speaker 4 (45:51):
You got it up there though.
Speaker 3 (45:52):
At least it feels like your tailball is doing better.
But you couldn't do that last week. Lucky we got
doctor Piersley, Doctor Pierce later coming up three. All right,
I am way over for a break.
Speaker 4 (46:02):
I gotta get ony. Hey, hey, I.
Speaker 3 (46:06):
Want to I want to do a little more NFL

Speaker 3 (49:19):
Oh it's great. I got a little to bully salad today.
I'm really on a little bit of a help lately
for you. I stopped taking my shot. You know the
it's not Ozmpic, but it's a semi.
Speaker 7 (49:33):
Why'd you stop? Because you're reading a lot of things
bad about No.
Speaker 3 (49:36):
I just I'm I'm just tired of taking it like
I just need a break. Doesn't make me feel good.
I lose the weight, but I don't feel good and uh,
I just so, what do you do? You feel like blah,
you know, like in the probably in the two or
three days after the shot. Okay, it's fine, it's not
(49:57):
for everybody. It's fine. I don't mind it. I'd rather
almost was the way, of course. But I just needed
a break. So I've been eating a little bit better.
I've been, you know, walking every night after dinner, doing
all that stuff. So I just wanted to walk, Lexi.
That's the one good thing about the dog. It does
force you to get out and walk, not the.
Speaker 7 (50:16):
One Well, his dog, you haven't met his dog.
Speaker 4 (50:22):
I'm just left.
Speaker 3 (50:24):
That was funny, right, But guys in the chat, everybody
having a fun day to day. I think we're all
having a fun day to I don't know. Look, this
weather sucks so bad.
Speaker 4 (50:36):
It feels like the dead winner, right, it's the dead
of winner. But what else is going on? Your Tigers
team is bawling.
Speaker 5 (50:46):
Your Pistons team has clinched the five seeds and the
Lions that we're talking about were fifteen.
Speaker 3 (50:51):
And two last year. That's why we clinched six, right, six,
We made the playoffs.
Speaker 7 (50:55):
I don't want to be the five.
Speaker 5 (50:56):
I want to be making the playoffs. So I think
everybody's riding the waves. Man, Like, when's the time we've
been in this space? Sports wise?
Speaker 7 (51:02):
Eds coming back?
Speaker 4 (51:04):
I can't wait. Well, he mess the vibe up though.
Speaker 6 (51:07):
I didn't think he was gonna make it for the playoffs.
You think they're gonna play him. I don't think they're
gonna play him.
Speaker 5 (51:12):
I don't limited limited spots get a feel for him,
but like something that they have going on, like what
this run has been with the flow is what the
algorithm is. Any little adjustment can tweak that, tweak that
for the worse or the better.
Speaker 4 (51:25):
So I think JB.
Speaker 5 (51:26):
Bigger Staff knows what he's doing, but I wouldn't just
throw him in there, like this is something that you
a couple of minutes here, a couple of minutes there.
Speaker 7 (51:34):
If that are you going tonight? No, it's like it's
a playoff preview.
Speaker 6 (51:38):
Guys, right now, if the season ended, that's the team
you're playing in the playoffs. The knicker Bokers are here,
Uh see what they've got tonight. I don't know if
both teams are gonna be putting out their best effort tonight, though.
Speaker 3 (51:50):
Well we'll find out. You want to do it. I
kind of want we can talk about that now if
you want. No, Okay, the NFL coaches. So there are one, two, three, four, five, six,
seven new head coaches in the NFL. There's one guy
not on this list right now, Pete Carroll.
Speaker 7 (52:11):
Oh, yes, I'm sorry.
Speaker 3 (52:14):
I don't know how you miss peak. Carroll. I appreciate it,
but I wanted to have a little fun in rank
these head coaches, and in doing so, I don't know
if you would have the same rankings as this. Okay,
So if you could hire any of this list of coaches,
who would it be? And conversely, who do you think
(52:38):
is in the best position to win fastest? Yes, I
think those two lists are much different. Does that make sense.
I don't want much different, but.
Speaker 7 (52:51):
I think some guys fit their teams better than others.
Speaker 3 (52:54):
Yes, exactly. So we'll go down the line. Okay, you
want to give me, I'll give you my top guy.
Give me your top guy.
Speaker 7 (53:02):
That's the first guy on the show.
Speaker 3 (53:03):
I know it's gonna be everybody's top guy.
Speaker 6 (53:05):
The it's Mike Vrabel, and I think he's inheriting a
decent franchise right now. He's coming to him when let's
face it, they're not the old Patriots anymore. There's no
more Belichick, there's no more Brady. They have a new
quarterback in Drake May, they got new receivers, new running backs,
they have some talent on this team, and they have
(53:28):
a coach and Mike Vrabel who comes over obviously the
former Tennessee Titan coach took last year off, and here
he is. He was a Patriot, and this is a
guy that I would love to have as my head
coach if I didn't have Dan Campbell. He is like
a Dan Campbell head coach to me. So at all
the seven coaches, I think Mike Vrabel is in the
best position to put this team on the map.
Speaker 3 (53:50):
Again, I completely agree with that. I think Vrabel for me,
is not only the guy if you could pick if
you're starting a franchise, if you're trying to win a
Super Bowl wherever along in the process for your franchise,
you are if you could have any one of these
coaches on this list, Mike Vrabel to me is at
(54:11):
the top of the list.
Speaker 4 (54:11):
Where is the list I'm trying to find on the rundown.
Speaker 7 (54:16):
Under the your own list, under the two twenty nine.
Speaker 3 (54:19):
Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, you're making your making your own list.
But I think that Mike rabel Is is number one.
I'll just go down the line and give you mine.
I would go Mike rabel number one, Pete Carroll number
two with the Raiders, Aaron Glenn to the Jets, uh
number three. I think Aaron Glenn to me, and I'll
give you the reason why you saw. What culture does?
(54:44):
I think most people, most coaches in football have the
x's and o's down. Who is going to change your culture?
I think Aaron Glenn is one of those guys that
is going to do that. Kellen Moore. I have fourth
on this list, Ree war Leeds, and I'll tell you why.
Super Bowl. He's got a super Bowl behind him. Any
(55:08):
meeting he shows up to, he is super Bowl champion.
Kellen Moore. I think that super Bowl means a lot
to people behind him. I'll go our guy, Ben Johnson.
I put Ben Johnson behind Kellen Moore because of the
Super Bowl, because he has been to a couple of
(55:28):
different organizations. Now he has had success at a couple
of different organizations and he's won a Super Bowl. I
think so so Ben Johnson is after that. The one
question I have about Ben Johnson, and it is a
significant question, is will players follow him? He's got the
x's and o's, There's no doubt about that. He could
(55:49):
probably x'es and o's circles around anybody else. But will
players lead? Will players follow Ben Johnson? I do think
that is up for debate. I do think that is
a question mark Liam Kohne, I have six he's coaching
the Jaguars. I did not like his introductory press conference,
but a lot of people didn't like Dan Campbell's introductory
(56:12):
press conference. So we'll see what Liam Cohne can do.
And then, last, but not least, bringing up the rear
is the one the only Brian Schottenheimer of the Dallas Cowboys.
There is a reason to me why not only has
he been an assistant coach in the league for damn
near twenty years, he hasn't even gotten an interview. Not
(56:34):
is he not gotten a job. I believe in the
last six or seven coaching cycles he hadn't even gotten
an interview for a head coaching job. So that tells
me what I need to know. I feel like Dallas
is a little bit of a sinking ship right now.
So Vrabel, Carrol, Glenn Moore, Johnson, Cohen, and Schottenheimer. That's
my list.
Speaker 6 (56:53):
If you remember the Lions when they finally hired Rod Marinelli,
who was a lifetime assistant coach, there was a reason
for it.
Speaker 7 (57:02):
He just was not he was just not the head guy.
Speaker 3 (57:06):
Wow. Man, that's a great He's.
Speaker 6 (57:08):
What I remember because how does he How has he
not been a head coach? He's been twenty years in
the league. You found out, you found out all his
cliches and all of that. And I know the lines
were bad then, but he was not made for this.
Bryan Schottenheimer is following in his footsteps. We really don't know,
and I wish the guy good luck. Marti schottenheimersoute one
(57:28):
of the best coaches in the NFL. Very underrated guy.
That's the sun. So he's got the chops. Man, he's
been around. We'll see what he can do with Jerry
Jones standing on his shoulders.
Speaker 5 (57:40):
Ben Johnson number one. I know you guys don't want
up to number one because you call him Benedict Arnold.
Speaker 7 (57:44):
He's I like where you're going.
Speaker 5 (57:46):
He's going to the Chicago Bears. I don't care what
you say about Kayleb Williams. When you add the offensive
line and power that they've added in front of him,
I just only.
Speaker 4 (57:55):
Think it breathed success. I think they got weapons all around.
Speaker 5 (57:57):
I think they'll either draft Ashton gen Z or they'll
draft Time Warren the tight end for Ben State, and
then that defense that's already their calling card. Now they
also have a coach that understands. He saw what word
here in Detroit. He had fun. He let the players
will actually lose, but they paid attention when it came
to practice in the game. I think that's what they'll
see in in Chicago. So Ben Johnson won, Mike Rabele too,
(58:17):
don't have to talk about it. Keller Moore three. I
think Keller Moore three. I think, like you said, he's
coming off a super Bowl, but I think even more importantly,
he's coming off four teams. So he saw what did
not work in Dallas, we did not work in La
under Brad Brandon Staley, and he saw what worked. I
mean it's a third team, and he saw what worked
for him in the Eagles. So I think he's gonna
(58:38):
come there with that good energy that you said. So
give me three Keller Moore four Aaron Glenn defenses their
strong suit already.
Speaker 3 (58:46):
What is he?
Speaker 5 (58:46):
He's a defensive coordinator, but he's not just that, he's
a coach. I think he helps get that culture together.
Just I don't know what the quarterback situation is going
to be, don't know if our trust justin fields, but
I think he will get that team turned around.
Speaker 4 (58:57):
And give me him a four five give me Liam.
Don't know much about him. We'll figure it out.
Speaker 3 (59:02):
We'll see.
Speaker 5 (59:03):
I just wasn't gonna put Pete in front of him.
I think Pete through. I think Geno Smith is through.
It's one thing when you come to the Seattle Seahawks,
when they have DK Metcalf, when they have Tyler Lockett,
when they have these weapons, something when you go and
try to create your own and I don't think that's
what Gino was doing.
Speaker 4 (59:19):
Give me that six peak Carroll.
Speaker 5 (59:21):
And there's a reason why Brian Schottenheimer's initials are BS
Brian at seven.
Speaker 3 (59:27):
And you know him.
Speaker 7 (59:28):
Refresh everyone's memory.
Speaker 5 (59:30):
Two years TWOFC championships played with play well. He was
the offensive coordinator for the New York Jets. No ill
will against the guy. Maybe sometimes I come on here,
I come off a little bit too aggressive. I just
think that if he was on his game, we'd have
won both of THEFC championships that we played in. And
I think he was an individual that is, he's having
not success, but he's in the league because of his
(59:50):
last name, you know, And I don't care about that.
Speaker 4 (59:53):
But if you're not good, I'm gonna call you on it.
Speaker 3 (59:55):
He's not good.
Speaker 6 (59:57):
I'm not too far from your guys. I already told you,
Mike Rabel. I got Ben Johnson in the two hole,
number three.
Speaker 7 (01:00:03):
I've got.
Speaker 6 (01:00:06):
Pete Carroll, then Aaron Glenn, then Kellen Moore, Liam Cohen
and Schottenheimer. So I'm not too far from you, guys.
I do like Ben Johnson. He is going to a
very competitive team. Now they really they usually can't get
that out of their own way. We'll see what he does.
And I've said it from the get go. They're gonna
(01:00:27):
somehow get Askeda genty on that team because he knows
what wins.
Speaker 7 (01:00:33):
That kid is, he's our guy.
Speaker 6 (01:00:36):
He is number twenty six of the Lions, number zero.
Now obviously Jamier Gibbs. He needs his Jamior Gibbs to
make that offense go as far as the tight end goes.
Speaker 7 (01:00:46):
He already has a.
Speaker 6 (01:00:47):
Good tight end and Cole Komet they got a lot
of They got a lot of talent on that Bears team.
And you saw what they did with the offense of
the defensive line. They added half a ton of pounds
half a ton to the offense. It's a defensive line.
They're gonna be right there in the mix.
Speaker 5 (01:01:03):
Co Comana is definitely a pretty good tight end. As
I grew with you, there had the down season last year.
They only had four hundred, five hundred yards of total
tight end yards last season, and part of that is
because the offensive line and Kayler Williams. But if they
don't get asked, gent I just like Tyler Warren.
Speaker 3 (01:01:19):
A lot of teams, a lot of people like them.
Speaker 5 (01:01:21):
A lot of teams in the league they used two
tight ends. I mean, look at the Raiders, well never matter,
don't ever look at the Raids, but a lot of
teams used two tight ends. Hell us in Detroit, there's
Sam laporta, there's there's what the Detroit tight ends featuring
Sam Laport's A.
Speaker 4 (01:01:35):
Four or five.
Speaker 3 (01:01:36):
I was gonna try to save this for tomorrow, but
you guys both brought this up, so I just I
have I have to do it now. So today on
ESPN dot Com, I put it in the WhatsApp. I
think you slipped by you a little bit, but that's okay,
So that's all right. It's it's great stuff. It was
ESPN dot Comic Drop today, and it was it was
(01:01:59):
the big question facing each team as they get into
the draft, and I took a screenshot. Don't worry about it, Pete,
you don't have it. You got buddied off my phone.
But you guys both brought this up, so I gotta
do this. Chicago Bears. What we're hearing about the Bears
in the draft quote, The Bears love Ashton Gente according
to the scouts around the league who's observed the team's
(01:02:20):
activities in softseason. So the Boise State running back could
be the pick at ten if he's still around. But
Chicago has two second round picks, so it could be
aggressive and package them. Yeah, to trade back into the
end of round one if a desired pass rusher falls,
or if they want to move up and get them.
That is a player that would change the trajectory of
(01:02:42):
the Chicago Bears. You saw what Jamir Gibbs did to
the Lions offense. That one player could probably be as
impactful to the Chicago Bears as any player in this draft.
Speaker 5 (01:02:55):
And I'm gonna say it was dangerous about it. I'm
gonna just I'll just focus it for you. If that happens,
then they will be the Detroit Lions in twenty twenty three.
They would be the Detroit Lions of twenty twenty three,
No doubt the Detroit Lions between twenty three they were
coming off with nine and eight. Now Chicago Bears in
win nine games last year, but the momentum is there,
then they have another good drive. Look at the rosters.
(01:03:16):
The roster, just roster is better the Chicago Bears. Not
a roster doesn't tell the whole story. But if they're
able to land asking gents, they'll keep Deandres I mean
DeAndre Swift.
Speaker 4 (01:03:25):
They'll running two running backs. They got a nice offense.
Speaker 5 (01:03:28):
They still have Keenan Allen as well as DJ Moore. Right,
Lions are the team, but there are teams making moves and.
Speaker 7 (01:03:35):
I hope they don't get gents.
Speaker 3 (01:03:36):
But but but Ben Johnson, guys both brought up Ben
Johnson too, And I think that's why I said the
list may be different in terms of who do you
think will have success the fastest and who is the
best coach, because I do think Vrabel is the best
coach on that list. Yeah, number one, But I think
Ben Johnson is number one on the list of who
(01:03:58):
do you expect to have the most access the quickest,
If that makes any sense to you, totally, it's fair.
Speaker 5 (01:04:04):
Ben Johnson is the first year head coach. Rabel's already
been to it, uh number one seed the championship.
Speaker 4 (01:04:10):
So I agree with you there. There's just a lot
for Ben Johnson.
Speaker 5 (01:04:13):
I think that this is an era where you connect
with the coaches many let me connect with the players.
Speaker 4 (01:04:19):
You see what he came in on. He said, Hey,
we are all in service to these players that.
Speaker 5 (01:04:24):
Instantly instantly de armed the players, instantly dearmed the players,
and now you get a working relationship like he learned.
He learned from the guy that you all love like
they're going to be successful in Chicago. Man, as you've
already said it, it's not if. In the words of
Charles Playter, it's win.
Speaker 7 (01:04:41):
Yep.
Speaker 3 (01:04:42):
Speaking of Rabel, we have this sound. I'd like to
play it for you. I think it's tremendous. This is
his first meeting with his new team, the New England Patriots.
It's a set of rules. Go ahead, best.
Speaker 6 (01:04:54):
I was just going to say what he says to
these football players should be played at all high schools. Yeah,
and as well, it was he hits home with all
of this.
Speaker 3 (01:05:04):
It's a little long. It's it's it's a little long.
Like it's three minutes in forty three seconds, Okay. I
mean it's not like it's three hours. Okay, we have
the attention span now. We either want a twelve second
clip or a three hour podcast. Even when we go
an hour and forty minutes on the podcast, people want
(01:05:24):
us to pack up shop and cancel the show. It's
twelve seconds or three hours. If you go an hour
fifty five, they're mad at you for the eight. So
this is three minutes and forty three seconds. Mike Rabel.
Everybody should listen to this.
Speaker 9 (01:05:40):
I have okay that I would ask us to try
to bide by.
Speaker 16 (01:05:44):
One is to respect the team, okay, respect the football
team and the people that are here, Kerry. The second
one is, okay, I'd like you to have when we're
in a meeting, Okay, I.
Speaker 9 (01:05:54):
Know what the style may be. Just wear pull your
hood down in a meeting. That's all asked.
Speaker 16 (01:05:59):
Okay, I just asked when we're in a meeting, okay,
that we just pull our hoods down and we go
from there.
Speaker 2 (01:06:04):
Be on time.
Speaker 9 (01:06:05):
Okay.
Speaker 16 (01:06:05):
We just talked about time beyond time. And if I
can't be on time, Christian, what's the easiest thing to do.
You would just call, right, you would's called communicate. All
you got to do is say, hey, something came up. Okay,
I'm gonna be a little bit late.
Speaker 9 (01:06:21):
Now. After about four or five times, that starts wearing off.
Speaker 3 (01:06:24):
Okay.
Speaker 9 (01:06:25):
This is just a once in a while.
Speaker 16 (01:06:26):
All it is is a respect he okay. And the
cell phones okay, we all got cell phones. Okay, most
of you have more than one as a matter of fact.
Just leave the cell phone in your bag, but just
put the phone away, okay, and if it rains, don't
start coughing. Like I'm ending this league for twenty five years.
We all know when a cell phone goes off, we
don't need to start coughing and doing that shit. We'll
(01:06:48):
just turn it on and put it on silent.
Speaker 9 (01:06:50):
And we'll move on. Leave it in your bag.
Speaker 16 (01:06:52):
The cell phone's in the weight room, okay, leave it
on the counter, or leave it in your locker okay.
You don't need to do a set and then check
your cell phone set and check yourself on.
Speaker 9 (01:07:01):
Just leave the cell phones out of the locker room, okay.
Speaker 16 (01:07:04):
And what my goal was that I told everybody in
the building, and I told mister Kraft, I told the coaches.
Speaker 9 (01:07:11):
It was to build a program that you guys, and
the coaches.
Speaker 16 (01:07:16):
And the staff wanted to be a part of that.
They wanted to protect. When you care about something, do
you protect it? Yep, And that you're proud of it.
That I'm proud to be a New England Patriot. I'm
proud of the way that we do things. I'm proud
of the way we prepare, I'm proud of the way
we practice, okay. And I'm proud of my teammates for
the effort in which they play.
Speaker 9 (01:07:37):
So that was my goal, okay, to get started.
Speaker 16 (01:07:39):
And then you're gonna eventually believe in that and then
start to trust it. The goals for our program, the
overriding goals for that program that we're going to build
is going to be one to win the division. Okay,
when was the last time they won? The New England
Patriots won the division? Does anybody know? Twenty nineteen?
Speaker 3 (01:07:59):
Right?
Speaker 9 (01:08:00):
And we have one player, Joe Cardona Is. That's one person.
Speaker 16 (01:08:04):
So we're building our own identity, We're building our own team,
We're building our own program.
Speaker 9 (01:08:09):
There's gonna be things within that that are different. There's
gonna be things.
Speaker 16 (01:08:14):
Within that that are the same, okay, And it's all
gonna be based on how do we make you, guys, Okay,
as good as you possibly can be as an individual,
as a player, and then as a teammate. That's gonna
be our whole goal.
Speaker 9 (01:08:29):
And you have to start understanding that of why we're
doing what we're doing.
Speaker 16 (01:08:33):
The training staff, the equipment staff, the kitchen staff, these people.
Speaker 9 (01:08:39):
All here to do what what are they here to do?
Speaker 5 (01:08:43):
To help you?
Speaker 9 (01:08:44):
They're here to help you do your job.
Speaker 16 (01:08:48):
They aren't here to be your valet, to be your housekeeper,
to be your maid, to be your butler.
Speaker 9 (01:08:56):
You get where I'm going.
Speaker 16 (01:08:57):
Okay, We're gonna treat those people with the utmost respect. Okay,
if you've got a problem you and I, you can
cuss me out. I'm a big boy, I promise you
if we can handle, but we're gonna treat those people
with a hell lot of respect, just so we're all
on the same page, like that's important to you, that's
important to our owner, that's important to me, that's important
(01:09:19):
to everybody here.
Speaker 9 (01:09:20):
Is how you treat people in this building. That's important.
Speaker 3 (01:09:25):
I feel like every boss of a company, forget about football,
should play that. Yeah, I think that's just as a
as a baseline is a baseline. This is how we're
gonna do things here. And Braylin, you've been in these
rooms before. You've heard Lloyd Carr, you've heard Romeo Crenell,
you've heard Rex Ryan. That's an important time too, when
(01:09:48):
the head coach addresses a team for the first time,
or any time really, just you get a sense of
who they are and how they're gonna lead and what
the expectation is. I have always found that if you
know as an employee, because I've always been the employee,
I've never been the employer. But as an employee, if
(01:10:09):
you have a boss in any facet of life, if
you're a student and you have a teacher, if you
know what the expectation is you are in a position
to meet and exceed what that is. And it's when
(01:10:30):
you have a lot of gray area that I think
you have chaos and that leaves no gray area.
Speaker 5 (01:10:36):
Yeah, these are always very you know, they were always
very very very fun, you know, intense, but the best
ones for me with Lloyd Carr and everybody's different, and
everybody's different. This reminds me of Rex Ryan, who comes
from Buddy Ryan's brother Rob Ryan. They're copeckly reluted in
the family, so they know so they bring that intensity,
(01:10:57):
they bring the emotion. They know how to play on
the hard they know how to be mean, but then
they know how to be cool when the time costs.
Speaker 4 (01:11:04):
But just getting back to it, like, I love what
he does. He establishes that he's the coach.
Speaker 5 (01:11:08):
Like first and foremost Ryan in mass I'm not your friend,
I'm not your path. Now, coaches and players are cool,
but he's established in the ground rules.
Speaker 4 (01:11:16):
He is the head coach. This is how things are
going to be done. Respect. Respect is the main thing
you talked about.
Speaker 5 (01:11:23):
You respect the staff, training room staff, equipment room staff,
the entree staff.
Speaker 4 (01:11:28):
You respect everybody in the building.
Speaker 5 (01:11:30):
When you talk like this, When you operate like this,
you can start to teach these young mans or even
older man. You teach them respect, You teach them the
proper way for them. It's the Patriot way. You can
have a lot of success because now you can hold
each other accountable.
Speaker 4 (01:11:41):
The things he said.
Speaker 5 (01:11:42):
You saw that coach said, don't be late to meetings.
Why are you late to meetings? We all got here
at two pm? Or why were you here at two fifteen?
Why is this the third time that you're here at
two fifteen. When you start like this, you will you
set the tone for players to police themselves because they
don't want coaches.
Speaker 4 (01:12:00):
In their ears all the time. They want to do themselves.
And this is how you said. This is an old school,
old school way, old school mentality. And I like it.
Speaker 3 (01:12:06):
This is what I know.
Speaker 5 (01:12:07):
And I've said another meeting you're looking up and you're
like another year of these dudes talking to us like this.
But but when you established it like that, it just works.
Pete Carroll did it this way. You saw what happened
a year after I left, they won the Super Bowl.
Jim Harbaugh, he did it this way. When I was
with the forty nine ers, they got to the Super Bowl.
Lloyd Carr did it in Michigan. He won a national
championship in ninety seven. This is just the way you
(01:12:30):
do business. This does not change because social media exists now,
because TikTok exists now. It doesn't change because it's twenty
years later from when I played. It's still the same way.
You want to have success.
Speaker 3 (01:12:40):
You have a meeting like that.
Speaker 4 (01:12:41):
This is how you start.
Speaker 6 (01:12:42):
Hey, man, Like I said, this should be played at
high school, in colleges as well.
Speaker 7 (01:12:47):
You said businesses.
Speaker 6 (01:12:48):
It's a fact we're all a lot of us are
addicted to these They are They're a part of my life.
It sucks that it's part of my life, but.
Speaker 3 (01:12:57):
It is everything I do.
Speaker 6 (01:13:00):
Within the next minute, I'll probably be touching that phone
and it's a bad habit. And he's telling these guys, listen, man,
this ain't happening. This ain't high school. This is not college,
your grown ass men. We haven't won a division in
six years. There's one player left from that team. This
(01:13:20):
is a whole new team. That's why I'm saying this
guy will put New England on the map real quick.
And Tennessee, I don't know what the hell they were
thinking firing this guy.
Speaker 5 (01:13:31):
I'm glad you said that, Mass because I didn't talk
about that part. He made it a point to talk
about the cell phones. Every cell phone don't.
Speaker 4 (01:13:37):
Get because you know we all did that.
Speaker 5 (01:13:40):
My cell phone went off my freshman year an arbor
in Michigan, like the day of the game. It's Gloyd
Carr is talking. He's speaking much as his body to
go up. But anyway, getting back to it, something happened
in Tennessee that he didn't like something that he can
continually saw.
Speaker 4 (01:13:54):
I don't use my phone when I work out like
I work out mad you see us in the videos.
And then what was sports?
Speaker 5 (01:13:58):
Playing fitness which you fitis is essential. Fifty minutes i'm in,
I'll look at my phone because you know what happens.
One swipe turns into two swipech turns into Now. I
was only supposed to have forty five seconds rest in
between my set. Now I'm sitting on four minutes rest.
Now I'm not getting the work up that I'm supposed to.
Now I'm not achieving when I'm supposed to. I guarantee
(01:14:19):
those cell phones were a major distraction for him in
Tennessee Dereck Henry the whole nine yards.
Speaker 4 (01:14:25):
So yeah, there's something to that.
Speaker 3 (01:14:27):
Shout out to the fancy Lion. I need my phone
to listen to your show though. Absolutely Thanks everybody in
the chat today. I always say this, and I wish,
I wish I was better at getting you guys more involved.
I am going to consciously try to do that when
I'm here. Is to get you guys more involved. I
really do mean that, and I fail a lot of
(01:14:48):
times at that, just because it's just not something I've
ever been used to to incorporate in real time out here.
Speaker 5 (01:14:56):
I've thought about that too. I'm glad you said also
you used to radio as a release to doing like this.
It's easy to do this on radio where like no
one can see us, right and you can just roll
and talk and look at no one can see you
looking and you break the show. But to do what
people are looking at, it's very different.
Speaker 3 (01:15:12):
No doubt. So all right, hey guys, I want to
get back to the NBA if I could. Next, I
want to wrap up our thoughts on Doncic and then
I've got a fun list for you, Okay, Incredible emotional
nights where a player returns to his former home. I'm

are a huge part of the show. Huge part of
the show. So I'm going to make it a point
when I'm in this chair to make you feel like that.
Speaker 5 (01:19:57):
Yeah, we were talking about Luca Donty with day Que
called and I made the comments. Look at the end
of the day, it has to be a higher it's up.
The pay grade goes all the way up in terms
of the deal that was made. You do not take
a guy in Luca Dona Chick that you just just
look at his first five years league like he was
outside of the rookie in your first year. Joking, Ma,
NBA won five years in a row. I've never seen
(01:20:18):
a deal like that at the end of the day.
Dave's David Sterling or dammee Sterling. David Sterling, David Stern.
Speaker 4 (01:20:26):
He took care of Jordan. That was his guy.
Speaker 5 (01:20:28):
He took care of Lakers Magic and Bird in the eighties.
He took care of Jordan. This is what Adam Silver's doing.
Lebron is his guy. Luka Doni is now in l Hey.
This is the first time Lebron has been the best
player on the team. Like, with all due respect, I
think the Lakers are gonna win it. I think the
Lakers are gonna win. He's gonna get five.
Speaker 4 (01:20:49):
Like you see what they've done against SGA. They know
how to play him defensive.
Speaker 5 (01:20:52):
Like Lebron James is the most experienced player in the
playoffs in the history of the NBA. And now he's
not the best player on the LUKA Donachick is you
saw what he was capable of last night. He could
have had seventy if you wanted to, but he had
respect to his former teammates and the fans.
Speaker 4 (01:21:08):
He ain't want to kill him too bad. It's a
nice kid.
Speaker 3 (01:21:10):
By the way.
Speaker 4 (01:21:11):
This is them setting it up. You see it right
on the water, the third seed, they're going to win it.
Speaker 5 (01:21:16):
Lebron will win five luk at Donachick and Lebron are
playing together, Ladies and gentlemen, I.
Speaker 3 (01:21:21):
Don't I'm telling you if you were if you had
me pick a team, Todakers, I think you would have
to say the Lakers. I mean, unless you say the Celtics,
which I mean, I'm not gonna be mad at you
for saying the Celtics, But yeah, I would say the Lakers.
I would say. Let me, I would say the Lakers
(01:21:41):
are definitely in the NBA Finals. That's they're the best
team in the West. Uh SGA and ok see. Notwithstanding,
I have.
Speaker 6 (01:21:49):
To pray, I have to pray that they match up
against the Warriors and there's one more magic run in
Steph listen to put them away.
Speaker 7 (01:21:57):
Please, Steph Jimmy Butler, I beg you, you.
Speaker 4 (01:22:01):
Said SG and the words is Shannon Shark s g
A n B A not today Vegas, no doubt.
Speaker 6 (01:22:11):
How about the latest thing I read Jokich, we'll go
there next, going.
Speaker 3 (01:22:18):
To the Bulls. I guess that's where I keep seeing
him go. I see him going to LA because he
loves the Big Three, because he loves the Serbian population
in Chicago. That's no joke.
Speaker 4 (01:22:27):
Can we can we can we talk about that for
a quick segment.
Speaker 7 (01:22:30):
Sure, I would never watch another game.
Speaker 4 (01:22:33):
Are the owners in the NBA so powerful now?
Speaker 5 (01:22:36):
The coin so much now? They're just doing these crazy moves.
Never would you see Luca Donatis traded in the middle
season for a.
Speaker 4 (01:22:43):
D and a bunch of other bumps.
Speaker 5 (01:22:46):
Mike Malone and the GM fired a coach that won
a championship in the GM fired.
Speaker 4 (01:22:53):
Two weeks before the playoffs.
Speaker 3 (01:22:55):
Ral and these owners can do whatever they want. Guy,
and that's not good. But if you just just look
at our situation, who let's go to Denver. But I
always try to localize everything. Yeah, look at Tom Gorris here,
he bought this franchise for three hundred and twenty six
million something like that. They have been one of the
worst franchises in sports and that three hundred and twenty
(01:23:19):
six million dollar investment is now worth one and a
half billion. Wow, you know, you know, it's like the
owners have so much power. Even when you're the worst
in sports, you are tripling your money in quadrupling Sometimes.
Speaker 5 (01:23:34):
That's just back in the day, Like you know, owners
they need they were either grandfather and like their family
owned it, or they were groups.
Speaker 4 (01:23:42):
It was a couple of them. That's how you get
the group. You get the player.
Speaker 5 (01:23:45):
You needed the player for merchandise and all things to
make the revenue up. Now these owners are twelve billion
in hell when I was with the NFL, when I
was with the Seattle Seahawks, Paul Allen rest in peace,
co founder Microsoft, and need I say it more right?
Speaker 4 (01:23:58):
Cohen out there with the met.
Speaker 3 (01:24:00):
The Super Bowl. Cardier says, wouldn't count them out. As
much as I hate them, the NBA is pretty weak
right now. It does feel very weak. Vincent E. Lebron
ruined the Space Jam for me.
Speaker 15 (01:24:14):
R J.
Speaker 3 (01:24:14):
Graham Braylan just said it. The NBA is a set
up champion set up at the championship for the Lakers.
But here comes to Pistons to play spoiler once again,
history repeats itself. But the Pistons have always been to
the Lakers after the Lakers have won a championship in
the previous year.
Speaker 4 (01:24:29):
So at least we're winning next year. Then no, But
but just look at it the West. Look at what
the West was before, Like at the All Star break.
Speaker 5 (01:24:37):
Oh, you got the Suns, and there's in Denver and
it is this and SGA is a powerhouse, and it's
this team in Minnesota and Anthony Edwards and what they're
going to be this year.
Speaker 4 (01:24:45):
Man the West and now the Lakers.
Speaker 5 (01:24:47):
You look, go look now, look at those Golden State
starting to look a little old, you know, as Steph
has put on so much. Denver fired their coach, the
Suns Kd's out for the year. In Minnesota, I don't
know what the hell they look like. It was very
inconsistent the Lakers.
Speaker 3 (01:25:02):
Though, we want to have some fun. Oh yeah, okay,
Luka Doncicz returned to Dallas, where he had an emotional return,
beautiful situation there. The home fans loved him. It's the
top ten. This is not a top this is actually
a top twelve. I have twelve players who made a return,
(01:25:22):
an emotional return to a place that they played at
four years prior, and I just want to go through
some of those important notable nights in sports in no
particular orders. Okay, this is no particular order, but I
have twelve of them. I love it. Twenty ten Lebron James.
After the decision, Lebron's returned to Cleveland with the Miami
(01:25:45):
Heat was electric, booze drama. Lebron dropped thirty eight.
Speaker 6 (01:25:49):
In a Winer told me I was going to be happy,
have fun.
Speaker 3 (01:25:57):
Let's sit you back to all the time. Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:25:59):
No, remember when that happened. J I had just gotten
traded to the Jets the year before, and we were
trying to get to that game.
Speaker 4 (01:26:07):
We knew what it was gonna be, We knew what
the emotions. I was trying to get to that game.
Couldn't because of the season. But I do remember watching
on TV and you're not lying, like you can hear
it come through the TV.
Speaker 3 (01:26:18):
Twenty twenty one, three twenty twenty one, Tom Brady at
New England. Brady went back to Foxborough as a Tampa
Bay buccaneer in a highly emotional showdown with his old
coach Bill Belichick. Pretty good night there for me. I
remember that.
Speaker 5 (01:26:35):
So in that one, they cheered like crazy, And this
is what we were talking about with Luke. They cheered
like crazy before the game, they showed them all the love.
But soon as that video went off, bulls started like
they didn't even wait till the game started.
Speaker 4 (01:26:47):
As soon as the video went dark, they started Who
won that game? Brady?
Speaker 8 (01:26:52):
And that was the first time I ever seen usually
before the game the graphic is the quarterbacks.
Speaker 3 (01:26:56):
That was Belichick and I thought that was so crazy awesome.
Two thousand and nine, Brett Farr, playing for the Vikings,
faced this former team when he became where he became
a legend, and Brett fav of the Vikings won that
game in Green Bay against the Packers.
Speaker 7 (01:27:13):
That's a good one.
Speaker 5 (01:27:14):
You're talking about, just going from one grisp by to another.
Night he inherited Adrian Peterson, need I say more? Stephen
Hutchinson and Brian McKinney, need.
Speaker 3 (01:27:23):
I say more?
Speaker 7 (01:27:24):
Close they got to getting the Super Bowl too.
Speaker 3 (01:27:26):
They changed the rute because of nineteen ninety four, Dion
Sanders Prime Time returned to Atlanta as a forty niner
and famously got into it with Andre Rising and returned
in interception for a touchdown. Is only prime Time could
do time? I remember that.
Speaker 7 (01:27:45):
Was that Atlanta, Fulton County State.
Speaker 3 (01:27:47):
Yes, was that in the Georgia, Georgia.
Speaker 4 (01:27:50):
I was living in Atlanta at the time. I was
ninety one Antonia, Georgian. He didn't had to hit his
boy like that. Man, You know what I'm saying. Dion
was in the.
Speaker 3 (01:27:58):
Room, Andre bad Moon Rising twenty thirteen, You got any names?
In twenty thirteen thirteen football Odell Beckon Peyton Manning returned
to Indianapolis, says it Denver Bronco. The city gave him love,
but the Colts beat Manning and the Broncos.
Speaker 5 (01:28:23):
That's a that's a hell of a wood up store.
Andrew Luck, Yeah, Andrew Luck took some I don't want
to disrespect anybody. He took a He did it Allen Iverson,
if you will, with the food of seven six When
you got to the AFC Championship that year, that team
was terrible.
Speaker 3 (01:28:38):
Poleaset On office, uh two thousand and five NBA and
he guesses, oh, five, two thousand and five, and he guesses.
Speaker 7 (01:28:51):
That's too. That's too recent for me. You got to
go back to the seventies.
Speaker 3 (01:28:54):
Shoo kill oh heal. After a messy breakup, return learned
to la As a member of the Miami Heat, squared

Speaker 5 (01:29:08):

Speaker 3 (01:29:14):
I don't know who won that game. The result isn't

thousand baseball and he guesses.
Speaker 6 (01:29:24):
Two thousand baseball McGuire close. That's also very no, wait
you said close, McGuire close, the.
Speaker 3 (01:29:35):
Greatest left handed swing in the history of base Ken
Griffy Jr. As a member of the Cincinnati Reds, made
his emotional return to Seattle, where he was beloved The
kid many years, The kid.
Speaker 4 (01:29:49):
He never gets hurt. Man right, different conversations.
Speaker 3 (01:29:52):
The Kid nineteen ninety six, hockeyety six Shart Wait, wait.
Speaker 7 (01:30:01):
Is it a Holtz.
Speaker 3 (01:30:06):
Marks Patrick Wah returned to Montreal where he played for
the Colorado Avalanche and destroyed the Montreal Canadians eleven to one,
Colorado over Montreal. Oh man, yep, No, statue of liberty
in that game. About this one two thousand and two NBA.
Speaker 6 (01:30:32):
Oh, that's that's right. When the pres were playing good,
pistons were on top. We're getting near the top.
Speaker 3 (01:30:38):
Thiss iverson Jordan, Michael Jordan's as a member of the
Shick Gobulls, came out of retirement for a second time.
Sixteen points, twelve rebounds, six assists, lots of tears, of
lengthy ovation, A real emotional moment for Michael George.
Speaker 4 (01:30:58):
Okay, I'm got one.
Speaker 3 (01:31:01):
Nineteen ninety four NFL God Joe Joe as a member
of the Kansas City uh, Kansas City Chiefs, a huge
moment in NFL history. September eleventh, nineteen ninety four. By
the way, Montana outdueled his successor, Steve Young two hundred
(01:31:23):
and three yards, two touchdowns. Chiefs won twenty four to seventeen.
And then this should be an easy one. I went tackles?
Speaker 2 (01:31:32):
Did Joe have?
Speaker 3 (01:31:33):
Nineteen eighty eight Hockey Gretzky Wayne Gretzky. On October nineteenth,
nineteen eighty eight, as a member of the Los Angeles Kings,
returned to Edmonton, Alberta, Canada to play the Edmonton Oilers,
where he won five Stanley Cups. The Kings won that
game eight to six. Gretzky had two assists in that game.
(01:31:58):
How fun is that? To look back? Sweet?
Speaker 4 (01:32:01):
You know what's so funny?
Speaker 5 (01:32:02):
Like nowadays because of free agency and because players are
always moving, and because players are all cool and it's
not really ribbers, if you will, all yours are like
really like older, like it's not now, even say Kwan
Barkley last year played against New York.
Speaker 4 (01:32:17):
I don't think about it. I tried for some of
the greats I got. There's one that I thought about.
Speaker 3 (01:32:23):
I mean, if you, if you look, if you just
listen to this list for a second, of the players
of this life.
Speaker 18 (01:32:28):
I can't say the one that I thought before you
get KD. KD was on the list for Oklahoma City,
but I took him off. I just didn't think KD
belonged in this list of lebron James, Tom Brady, Brett
Farm I guess could take her to leave it, Deon Sanders,
Peyton Manning, Shaq, Griffy Watt, Jordan Montana, and Gretzky.
Speaker 3 (01:32:46):
Why these are the all time great.
Speaker 5 (01:32:48):
You said what he's Oh, he's got more championships than
a lot of guys you mentioned who k D He's
got two and two Finals.
Speaker 3 (01:32:56):
MVPs, Gretzky, Montana, Jordan Whah, Jack Peyton Dion Not really.
Speaker 4 (01:33:07):
He got three. Payne's got two, right.
Speaker 3 (01:33:11):
I got one two? What about what about to go local?
What about Stafford? When he well, that's why I was
just gonna go to the chat now Tony d Matthew
Stafford twenty twenty three returned to the Detroit for the
first time as a member. That was a huge moment.
Super Bowl Wilson two thousand and nine, Chauncey Billups returns
(01:33:34):
to the Palace after being traded away to a huge
ovation d Max Fist. I cried as a kid when
Seattle traded Ken Griffy Junior Rich Baldwin. The Hawks traded
Dominique Wilkins to the Clippers. Oh they did, I forgot,
they did nak wrong Clippers and he man.
Speaker 4 (01:33:51):
He has to leave. They released him at the end
of the year and then he went.
Speaker 3 (01:33:53):
To another one from Rich. The Sixers traded Barkley to
Phoenix for garbage.
Speaker 9 (01:34:00):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:34:00):
Those are some good ones, man, those are those are
some good ones. Igor Larryano played his first game at
the Joe. It was against the Sharks, who just traded him,
and he scored on a penalty shot. By the way,
speaking of Igor Larry and if jogs my memory, John
Keating from uh.
Speaker 7 (01:34:20):
I have no idea Slash Balance Slash.
Speaker 3 (01:34:22):
Sports posted today on X that eight years ago today
was the final game at Joe Louis Arena Red Wings
game arena. And I just think to myself, eight years.
If you think about how long eight years, it feels
like l c A just opened up yesterday in my fifties, Yeah,
(01:34:43):
if you just opened up yesterday. But years and the
Red Wings have never had a playoff game, and a
playoff game has never been we talk about that's right,
You talk about how.
Speaker 7 (01:35:01):
Quickly that's their streak.
Speaker 3 (01:35:03):
Like ford Field went twenty years without a postseason game
or a moment, and now ford Field is one of
the best home field advantages in all of sports. You
need those playoff moments to give a building character and
for the Wings and Pistons to not play a playoff game,
and thankfully we're gonna get one in Detroit courtesy of
(01:35:24):
the Detroit Pistons. That's just crazy to take.
Speaker 7 (01:35:26):
Us one on sale I think, if not today, pretty.
Speaker 3 (01:35:29):
Soon, crazy to play, crazy to even think about.
Speaker 6 (01:35:32):
And by the way, shout out to John Keating. He's
wrapping up his career here SUTs up here when the
Red Wings season's over, he's calling it a career.
Speaker 7 (01:35:40):
So congrats to John.

Speaker 3 (01:38:38):
Him to Dave Strader to Mickey Redmand back in the day,
was the first announcer duo for the Wings that I
remember absolutely on UPN fifty Yeah may he rest, And
I remember like even the intermission segments the Player of Tomorrow.
There was a kid at my school, Saint Veronica in
East Detroit who was the Player of Tomorrow and UPN
(01:39:00):
segments and we just thought that was the coolest thing
ever that we knew somebody that was on TV. Absolutely,
I don't know, I don't know, not an NHL player,
but pretty good though.
Speaker 6 (01:39:13):
Hey, shout out to the Western Michigan Broncos. Good luck
today against Detton for you in the Frozen Four and
sant Lois go Western and then if they win tonight,
the final is like six weeks from now.
Speaker 7 (01:39:27):
No, no, no, so next day that's two days. No, yes,
it's the Frozen Four, I know, but I take one
day off and you.
Speaker 3 (01:39:33):
Play the next Maybe that's the uh, it's when they
win the regionals to get to the.
Speaker 6 (01:39:40):
K basketball player Yeah, right right? And Boston you places
Penn State. It could be Penn State against the Western.
Hopefully it's not bu against Denver.
Speaker 3 (01:39:48):
We'll take it.
Speaker 5 (01:39:48):
It was like the one thing I embarrassed myself and
like the one thing but like in college, one of
the summer friends with hockey players, and I remember when
Frozen four came around started paying attention to the names.
I'm like, wait, anyway, he's not like basketball football. You know,
all the college I'm like, how hell is Denver? And
twice ye they were like well, you know, it's just
(01:40:10):
better hockey.
Speaker 6 (01:40:11):
I guess I'm pissed because, uh, we were supposed to
have the frozen four little Caesars. Stinking Covid ruined it.
Speaker 3 (01:40:17):
You did get him back. I need some sort of championship.
Speaker 7 (01:40:23):
Oh we get in the end. We're getting the final four.
Yeah we are twenty seven.
Speaker 3 (01:40:26):
Hey, let's bring it in. It is our weekly uh
visit with our w s N Injury Inside from the
Michigan Sports and Spine Center. Doctor Jeff, Hey, doctor a volcano?
Speaker 9 (01:40:37):
Man?
Speaker 7 (01:40:37):
Are you Hawaii docs? In Costa Rica?
Speaker 4 (01:40:40):
Costa Rica?
Speaker 3 (01:40:42):
Doc?
Speaker 9 (01:40:42):
Can you hear?
Speaker 3 (01:40:43):
Can you hear me? Can you?
Speaker 7 (01:40:47):
I can hear?
Speaker 3 (01:40:48):
You were here?
Speaker 15 (01:40:49):
We see volcano here?
Speaker 3 (01:40:51):
What do you got going on there in Costa Rica? Doc?
You're perfect, You're loud, you're clear, You're perfect.
Speaker 15 (01:41:00):
Yeah, it's very done here.
Speaker 7 (01:41:02):
Hey, doc, you have you seen the white Lotus. It
looks like you're right out of the white Lotus.
Speaker 4 (01:41:07):
That's a good show.
Speaker 15 (01:41:11):
That that is the volcano and latuna, which means good fortune.
And I'm telling you just coming here, it's uh, it's
so relaxing, it's like a whole It really puts life
a little bit more in perspective that we're a little
too uptight in the States and we're trying to get
too much done in the day, including me and uh,
you know, here's just chill, relax, hike and absorb what's
(01:41:35):
going on out off mans. If you've got some of
the videos, we.
Speaker 3 (01:41:38):
Have them done.
Speaker 4 (01:41:39):
We have the man before you do that.
Speaker 5 (01:41:41):
Doc, it's crazy that you're outside, out in the open,
in the air and you have better connection and Wi
Fi than you have ever had indoors.
Speaker 3 (01:41:48):
I'm just in the volcano.
Speaker 4 (01:41:51):
They got great Wi Fi and coach, I'm.
Speaker 15 (01:41:54):
Telling you there's not there's not all that traffic out
here on the Wi Fi. That's we got similar things
on hiking and kayaking and going down the rapids and
all that's going on.
Speaker 7 (01:42:07):
You want us to play the videos for you and
you could talk over them.
Speaker 15 (01:42:10):
Yeah, okay, yeah, why don't we do that?
Speaker 7 (01:42:12):
All right?
Speaker 3 (01:42:13):
Yeah, Doc, there's a little listen, let me just jump
in here. There's a little bit of a delay, like
a second or two delay. So in the interest of
not stepping on everybody's words, here, what you just walk
us through maybe what you want, what you sent in,
and then we can talk about it.
Speaker 15 (01:42:31):
All right, let's do that. So today we've spent the day.
The gentleman who helped us out in Costa Rica has
been living here his whole life. Family has acquired a
lot of from the government. So right now you're looking
at a stream that we're looking at for a wellness center.
That's all natural streams. So when you talk about natural
(01:42:52):
stream in Costa Rica in this area, you're talking about
minerals in the water that are healthy for you. So
it's natural healing while you're in that water. So you
see those are all live streams that's coming down the
falls that's coming from the old volcano that hasn't been
active in years, but still there's all that lava and
minerals coming out of the ground that you've seen. So
(01:43:15):
the water is warm, naturally warm from the volcano lava
and a video. There's actually Alex who owns the property.
And what's going on for us is we're looking for
the perfect place in the country to kind of do
our wellness thing. You know, one is just about the
hiking and the yoga and the massage and the zen,
(01:43:36):
so it's just the nature of it. This is actually
where I'm sitting now. All those birds there are like herons.
They're a type of heron, and they come here in
the evening, so like right now, there's like two there,
there's about two hundred, so it's kind of cool at
sunset they come in here. It's just that natural feeling.
(01:43:57):
You're seeing some of the flowers and the the in
the green edge that's so green right now. That it's
just it's that natural. It's like when you go up
north to northern Michigan to relate to to us Michiganders.
You just feel a different when you step outside and
you breathe that air. It's like a whole different you know,
it's not polluted, it's free. You're seeing the sky, the
(01:44:19):
stars are brighter. It's the same thing here with a
volcano sitting in your backyard. Actually the back of my
screen is the volcano, which is covered by the clouds
right now. So unfortunately, there's another video where I was
in you know, I don't know if we're gonna show
that one. Oh no, this is this is kind of funny.
This is the ant farms. They're about one hundred feet long.
(01:44:42):
They're all working. If we had ant strength, which we
talk about strength and conditioning, yep, these guys can lift
anywhere from ten to one hundred times their weight, and
you're seeing just carrying a leaf. It's just there's like
a highway that we found just you know, walking through
the fields. So that was pretty cool. That was a
funny view video I wanted to share with you guys.
(01:45:04):
So it's not all funny. It's always funn in games
with us here. But there's one where we're at the mountaintop.
Our friend owns land right at the volcano. It's with
the government, so we're on the volcano land. We can't
build on it, but I don't know if we have
it coming up, but it's yeah, all right, well we'll
(01:45:25):
send that one. We'll do that for another show. But yeah,
I mean, overall, what what I'm trying to say to
the people. You know, we're always about prementioning wellness. This
is kind of a step about. We met some people
last night that've been here for ten days just have
like you know, one was a dog room or the
other one was a librarian for the military. There's just
like we're out here, we had a reset. My life
(01:45:47):
is just so hectic at home, and they were like
thankful that there's a reset moment. So do we actually
have to go to Coasta Rica to get our recent moment?
Speaker 4 (01:45:55):
I think no.
Speaker 15 (01:45:56):
I think it's understanding yourself and your limitations. At least
are talking about what's healthy and what's not healthy, anxiety
and just anxiety. I'm not ever gonna bring up depression.
It's one of stress, and anxiety is becoming one of
the biggest killers of us in the health field. So
if we can start doing that more of a natural way.
I hate medication. Medication is being given for stress and anxiety.
(01:46:20):
It's probably appropriate. I'm gonna get shot for this, but
probably for maybe ten percent of the people that are
actually taking it. So we can find things like this,
serene surroundings, something you relate to, something of music, something
that's your go to is your stress relief. That's gonna
add years to your life and you're gonna enjoy your
life a lot better. Not everybody can come to Costa
(01:46:42):
Rica about but we can do. Stoff. Go ahead.
Speaker 6 (01:46:44):
But yeah, doc, if we showed you our view right
now outside, it's like twenty eight degrees outside, it's gray,
it's it's unfortunate. But in Michigan, this is what we
go through here in Michigan, especially in the winter, and
now it's turning the spring, and what are we going
to get.
Speaker 3 (01:47:00):
We're gonna get.
Speaker 6 (01:47:01):
Rain, you know, nine out of ten days, you know,
walk through the mud and all of That's how it's
hard to keep up the attitude that you're going.
Speaker 7 (01:47:09):
Through right now.
Speaker 15 (01:47:12):
Yeah, I mean we've done that. Look, I have seasonal
depression patients that really I didn't believe in it when
I first came out of medical school. We've read about it.
We're like, yeah, okay, right, but what I've seen it,
I've seen it from a pathological So when I say pathological,
that means it's more you know, it's it's more the
medical end of it, like it's real. It's not reactive.
(01:47:33):
There's a lot of reactive depressions like oh my god,
I lost you know, I lost my keys or something
just something like that. That's more of a reactional depression
or you lose a game. But pathologic depression is different.
So that's what we've actually gotten. The people that buy
a sunlight, they create art in their home that they
can go like their own little is end place in
(01:47:53):
their own home. So that's their reset moment, so they
don't snowball. So it's not day after day when you
get day after day. Yeah, I'm not saying there isn't
stress or you know, someone has illness in the family,
or you lose your job. There's that there's other ways
to cope with it other than medication or drinking. You know,
the people we met yesterday, they were they were drinkers,
and they you know, they found that they need less
(01:48:15):
alcohol being in an environment like this. I hate I
hate to say alcohol is an escape for a lot
of people that I don't want to deal with reality.
So it's just you know, how to you know, my
job is to make you aware that there's other things
you can do. It's not that hard to find these
kind of things. I mean, yeah, you can't get on
a plane and go to Costa Rica like I have.
(01:48:36):
But I think a little bit of taking a step
back knowing that you're you need that recharge moment and
it's not alcohol. Maybe it's punching the bag, maybe it's
playing basketball, Maybe it's kicking the you know, not animal cruelty.
Maybe it's kicking the dog. But you got you gotta
find you got to find that in you before you
become snowballing because and the thing is, I'm really talking
(01:48:59):
to the kids, you know, because when we grew up,
we were pretty you know, Brailn, not close to my age.
Speaker 4 (01:49:06):
But yeah, when we grew up, hold on, now I'm
forty two, but.
Speaker 15 (01:49:14):
You're a lot younger, but you still grew up in
a family where you found other outlets for your your stress.
Speaker 1 (01:49:21):
Leave.
Speaker 15 (01:49:21):
We we ran being outside and playing with the stress.
Leap these kids today if they're not building that stress
and anxiety at ages eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, Like
we're listening to what are they gonna be at when
all that that brain scarring adds up. It's an accumulative effect.
So it scares me what's going to be here when
(01:49:42):
I'm gone? So what can we do to make a difference?
Speaker 4 (01:49:45):
And what a were?
Speaker 15 (01:49:46):
Sports is about sports? But sports is a is a
great outlet for a release and it's that team feeling.
You know, your locker rooms are phenomenal go tos for
the most part, and now they're like turning into like
places of Oh, I worry about bullying or what I'm
gonna look like. Yeah, it's just it's just I don't
where we're heading is not pretty is what I'm trying
(01:50:08):
to say. And we have to hit a reset button
for all of us. So if sports can spread a
little bit of our zen world, I would love to
have that play a role under our under our domain. Hey,
I'll stop there.
Speaker 4 (01:50:23):
Hey, Doc. For all the smokers out there, is cannabis
is a healthy route for reset? No, it's not talk
about it because a lot of people.
Speaker 5 (01:50:31):
Are believing it's from the earth. It's plants, blah blah blah.
Explain why that's not healthy.
Speaker 15 (01:50:37):
Everything's okay in moderation, right. Alcohol wine has been studied.
Red wine has been studied to be hard healthy in
certain quantities. Marijuana for certain people, especially people that have
they feel like their brain never shuts off, Like I
have a few friends like that. They just they're you
know eighty, you know age, you know all that. I
(01:50:58):
don't want to get into diagnosises, but you know where
they just have a high stress moment where their brains
as such, they can't focus. They're on for one thing
to another. It has them down. Is there some medical benefit? Yes,
to the length that we're trying to make, you know,
justification of it. Hell no, no, it's going overboard or
overdoing it. We're taking advantage of the situation. This is
(01:51:21):
a moderate where it's really studied, where it's a helpful thing,
or you know, like people have a moment, can they go,
you know, have some cannabis to chill them out. Yes,
there's still an addiction, there's still a dependency, there's still
all that. Probably, like I said, with the anxiety medication,
you're talking maybe ten to fifteen percent truly fall into
(01:51:42):
that category and the other eighty five are trying to
justify it and you know, fight with me in the
chat room or whatever. But that's that's my clinical stats.
We can get stuff to support it. But cannabis, Yeah,
I mean I think I don't want to be a
big promoter of it in a non medical therapeutic fashion
(01:52:03):
for recreational use. I just it's a it's a long
topic to talk about, and maybe we dedicate one of
the shows to really talk about it. But to peel
it back, you've got to look in the mirror and
be honest with yourself. I met a I met a
drinker yesterday. She's from AA. She's celebrating one year of
being sober for from AA. How she celebrated she had
(01:52:26):
a shot out tequila. I'm like, didn't you just a
feature whole purpose? Yeah, it's like it's the mental capacity
of these people. I can justify whatever I'm doing. We
can find something to justify whatever I'm doing. If you
can't be real, if someone you don't have a good
friend to call you out, then you know, that's a
(01:52:47):
tough way to go. We have each other, not everybody
has each other. So it's just you know, not to
get so deep. And I'm in the zen world. I'm
supposed to be a happy and healthy but these are
hard topics. You're coming, uh, but you know these are
hard topics, and I didn't want to go that way.
This is a who's traveling. If you can hear them,
(01:53:12):
what's going on. But now he's the one that kind
of sets this up. He's one of his friends. And
you know, we we want to build just a flipping around.
You know, we're looking to build a wellness center. I
want to bring it here to Costa Rica. We're looking
for different places in the world where the nature is
part of the treatment. You know, I'm not putting it
in you know, Birmingham, Michigan, and we put a few
(01:53:33):
like a waterfall in there. We're trying to find the
natural zen that people are, you know, living longer, living
health here, have a different lifestyle, you know, pulling people
seriously out of Michigan or New York or wherever, or
you can just reset like we have. You know, we're
setting up a program for our athletes that you guys
are laughing at me.
Speaker 5 (01:53:54):
I'm not laughing at you. I'm laughing at the chat.
Somebody says something very interesting to relate to cannabis. He
was referring to a song and then I got high.
Speaker 4 (01:54:01):
That was funny.
Speaker 3 (01:54:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 15 (01:54:05):
No, I mean some people, some people need it to
bring their personality of it. I think maybe we should.
We really want to get into it. Maybe we should.
We'll do a panel discussion. I'll I'll be the judge,
and we can bring the pros and the cons and
and I'll drive right down the middle with it.
Speaker 3 (01:54:23):
We'll do it this summer. We'll do it. We'll do
it in June or July.
Speaker 7 (01:54:27):
Do an hour.
Speaker 3 (01:54:28):
We'll do an hour, an hour, We'll do it or July.
Speaker 7 (01:54:32):
You have one more I do doc before you go.
Speaker 4 (01:54:35):
I want to.
Speaker 6 (01:54:35):
I know you talked on Big D Energy the other
day about Aiden Hutchinson and he can roll the tape
on this, but Aiden Hutchinson running unencumbered the other.
Speaker 7 (01:54:43):
Day kind of give us a little bit of hope.
Speaker 6 (01:54:46):
Of course, the cynic in me is like, what if
a guy is diving at that leg, do you feel
it strong enough to take on that beat, that kind
of beating that he's going.
Speaker 7 (01:54:55):
To be in for.
Speaker 15 (01:54:57):
Yeah, the thing is, look at what months we're in
when we start. That guy is ahead of schedule. Everything
I said, I'm comfortable going back to all of my
comments on how consistent I was and how I want
to say, very accurate. If you keep playing it, Peter,
if you can keep rolling it, I'll go through and
(01:55:18):
then just slow mode for a second. Oh Sung, Yeah, Well,
what we talked about is how he had stay in
parallel movements. We first started, you know, in the cast
in the water, in dry land line line land training,
and then now he's starting to do angles. He's doing
side to side motions, so they're doing a perfect job
(01:55:38):
and gradually accelerating.
Speaker 4 (01:55:40):
Him and you can see, sorry, guys, hang.
Speaker 15 (01:55:47):
On which leg is actually the injured leg because his
parallel movements from the side to side are almost very consistent.
For for you guys looking, I don't even know if
you can tell the difference. I can tell it different.
There's a little hesitation on that left side where he
was in the ground and pushing off, but really he's
(01:56:08):
almost parallel. He's almost mirroring his right and left side.
And the other thing I brought up if you look
at his mechanics of running, if we could have pulled
tape of him running like two years ago before the injury,
I guarantee his upper body and lower body wasn't as
coordinated as he is now. He's learning how to run
from a mechanical standpoint. He's going through the firing patterns
(01:56:30):
from step wise, which is perfectly what you're supposed to do.
If you start training, you just go go ahead. I'm sorry, No, no, no,
you're doing great.
Speaker 3 (01:56:39):
No, go ahead.
Speaker 15 (01:56:40):
What I want which if you start training big muscles
in that parallel, you start lifting too much, you're going
to create muscle and balance which will lead to further injury.
What he's doing here is a perfect way of retraining.
And this is for the audience. Oh, I'm not a
professional player. You have to go to a clinical team
like sports and spot Michkin sports and spot where they
(01:57:00):
understand you can't get to step B before you step
to step ay. You can't just go powerlifting to get
that strength in that bulk back. You have to train
all those small muscles because that's what when you do
get hit. If someone's gonna do a cheap shot, you're
screwed anyhow. But if you do like the mechanical like
what he's gonna do, he's gonna be a smarter player.
(01:57:21):
He's gonna be you know, a risk of injury of
that area. I want to go on record, I don't
see it. I think he's going through all the steps.
He's got a great he's got a great medical team.
Everything I've seen, you know, we haven't been personally involved.
We've been a little distance from it. But I like
everything we see in the progress he's making. You know,
we said, when is you go win Defensive Man of
(01:57:43):
the Year. I sit on for the first not the
first year, but year, second or third. I think he's
right there as a finalist.
Speaker 3 (01:57:51):
The Great Doctor Jeff Pierce, Michigan WSN Injury Insider Live
from Costa Rica. Thanks docuis. Next week, Braylan closed US out.
Speaker 5 (01:58:03):

out of you, Ricky P.
Speaker 4 (01:58:07):
