out the way and then we can move forward. Last year,
I was involved in the situation at the What's up, Kathy?

Gott say hello to Kathy Man. She's one of my
favorite people in this building, no doubt. Last year the YMC,
I was involved in the situation where I broke up
a fight. Everybody heard about it when national especially if
you live here, you know about it. The YMC was
a young man that attacked an older gentleman. The reason
why I bring this story to you is make sure
when you do things that just ouded the goodness sell

your heart. Make sure when you do things it is
because it's the right thing to do. It's because your
faith is telling you to do that, or you feel
like it's the right thing to do. Don't do it
because you want somebody to pat you on the back.
Don't do it because you want people.

Why do I say that time as a way, I
told you in the text that that man mister killed
is very much alive.

So I did indeed save his life. But it's not
about me. Don't you know? When I was in that
court hallway yesterday for three.

And a half hours, three and a half hours I
was in the court hall room waiting to go in
and testify. I didn't get talked to by excuse mister kill,
who was in the individual that was assaulted in the
locker room, who's still alive?

I didn't know one from his family talked to me.
No one from his family came up and said thank you.
No one from his family and said, I appreciate that
my father is still here. No one said thank you
that my grandfather is still here, or that my father
in law is still here.

Today in the courtroom after I gave my statement, none
of his family came up to me, passed me in
the hallway again.

On the way into the courtroom this morning eight thirty.

On the other side, the defense, mister Smith, if I
had I intervened, mister Smith was likely to kill the individual,
or likely to have done something more to that individual.
He wouldn't be facing seven to ten years or four
to three, whatever it is. He will be facing twenty
five of life. No one from his family came up

to me and said, thank you for intervening. Thank you
for intervening, because if you don't, maybe this goes another way.
Maybe our son he's already gone. Maybe but that didn't happen.
But you know why I tell this story. It's not
because neither one of them fag me. It's because my
spirit was right when they didn't, because of my faith
in God, because of the journey that I'm on, Ricky

we talk about all the time, and one I'm trying
to bring to.

You, guys. My faith hadn't. I was good.

I wasn't sulking or pouting because in the same situation
last year in October November, I did feel that way,
like no one reached out to me. This could have
gone a different way, but my spirit wasn't right then.
Now you know what, you don't want to say thank you.
It's not on me, that's for you. My thing was
helping because I was supposed to, and I feel good

and I'm here with you guys. I'm so glad that
that case is over with. I'm so glad that that
situation is over. But let this just be a little reminded.
You do things because they're right, do things because they
feel good, do things because you know you should. Don't
do things because sorry, I got the president hand going on.

good job, or you want somebody pat you on the back.

in that little place. They did a great job last night,
but it wasn't Detroit.

I'm glad you brought it up before we get into
telite Williams. As you see, I got a lot to
say about him. I'm actually very excited with this pick.
I didn't care who it was if it was a
defensive line. If I'm honest, if they draft the defensive
line of twenty I would have made an excuse to
like that individual. I only came here with numbers and
stats and facts and things that nature. But let's talk
about green Bay in itself. Last year, pick twenty two

was Tarryon Arnold.

When Terry and Arnold's name got called, I wasn't even
at Ford Field the draft.

I wasn't outside at campus.

I was at the draft the following day, Maz when
they said his name. When I was at Ford Field
and we were watching on the TV in the club level,
I heard it from outside. I didn't even hear the
TV once you said, it was so loud you would
have thought Terry and Arnold was Charles Woodson. And that's
not a shot. That's not disrespectful. I'm just saying terms

Last night, when they drafted Matthew Golden, I was like, eh,
it's quiet.

The crowd looked amazing. I liked the set up their
stage I think was a little bit better. But the
noise wasn't there, that energy wasn't there. It's not the
same esthetic as Detroit.

But when your running back Josh Jacobs comes out and
say that you need a number one, they do and
had no problem saying that. And then you go out
and drafted, and you're saying that there's a level of
truth to that. But yeah, it is a bunch.

Of wide receivers in that room. And maybe they were
thinking that Terry Arnold was a hit scratcher hand Detroit realistic.

If we want to be honest, if you take out
the fact that he went to Alabama, you were like, okay, maybe,
but Detroit didn't care about that because Detroit fans job
Downtown Detroit was whoever Brad Holmes chose to select. Oh,
we're gonna make all the noise in the world. So
I just thought that was different and unique.

little bit about the drafted So but we don't need

Holmes super excited how everything went tonight to be able
to acquire Tahleik. Obviously been watching him for a really
long time. He's played a lot of football there at
a very consistent level, and he just has a lot
of traits and qualities that we're looking for and he's
going to fit right in here like a glove. So

process leading up to this, and we were very, very
impressed after each time we were able to spend.

who your coach is. I talked about the Georgia guys.
I named all them. I named Tray Smith. I said,
look at what he's done, look at what he's put
in the league.

You can trust the stock that comes from talking about
Jaylon Walker or Michael Williams. What Larry Johnson Senior do
I need to go down the list of defensive linemen
that had come out of the House State coached by
Larry Johnson senior. Chase Young when he came out, I
remember he was both the bolts of brothers Hubbard who
just retired Sam Hubbard from Cincinnati. List goes on, and
this is just another one. When you look at the games,

you're like, man's where's where's the sack? I don't see
the sack. It's not it's not about the not about
the number. It is about the force multiplier in the middle.
That's what he does. He may not have had sex
against Notre Dame, against Texas, against Oregon, against Michigan, but if.

You look at the guys next to him.

Five sacks next to him, the Notre Dame game, four
sacks next to him, the Texas game, six sacks next

at what the guys are doing around and when you're
looking at a big defensive tackle in the middle, Brad Holmes,

I didn't like the edges after the top twelve to
fifteen picks once Harmon was off the board.

I'm just I'm looking to fill that middle wheelers.

Huge question mark right now over Aleam McNeil's had. When
is he gonna get here? But this guy's very versatile.
He's got high level production at the college at the
college level.

And he it brings the culture.

He matches up with what this culture is here in Detroit.
I'd like to see him paired with another Ohio State
defensive lineman in the second round, which could happen.

But I think that this.

Screams Dan and Brad and I know that there were
some people kind of waiting to be excited, waiting to
be upset, and they didn't really know the strength of
these defensive tackles. At the end of the first round,
it was just too much for this regime to pass
on one of these guys.

And I really think they got it right.

Listen, the word on the street was the Philadelphia Eagles
reached out to Brad Holmes and said, we want to
come up. Do you want to come down to the
last spot, and they almost pulled the trigger, and Brad
Holmes said, there were a couple of offers to move down,
but we're here, and that it was the Eagles because
the Eagles did something with Kansas City. But they were

worried about Buffalo because they thought the Buffalo Bills loved
this kid and they were going to pair him with
their great defensive line. So that's why he stood because
supposedly Tyler Williams was a second round talent is what
they say. Okay, but a lot of people, including our
favorite guy, and of course that would be Baldy. We'll

play that in a minute for you. Baldy loves this pick.
And look, Brad Holmes knows what he's doing. We all
bitch and complain, at least I do about the free
agency and all of that. But this guy knows how
to draft. So it's in his hands. I'm so good
with it.

Yeah, it was definitely in his hands and he definitely
knows how to draft. This is what they needed, though,
This is what they wanted the defensive line. You gotta
add bodies. That's what we saw towards the end of
the year. Look, there were a lot of injuries on
that defense as a whole, but the defensive line is
the one that really hampered and really hurt his team
in the stretch, especially against the Commander. So you get
a guy, you got bodies. Now, there's some guys that
have been coming back this year. Don't forget about Mikay

Wingo comes out of LSU. Oh yeah, there's a lot
of spaces they have, man, But that's an inside guy
and he's three thirty five. He'll be three twenty by
the time the season starts. Man, this is a guy
I had to get a lot of use and a
lot of playing time with guys being injured, guys coming back.
He'll be serviceable for the start of season. To get
ready for the end of season. I like the potential
for what this guy could be. And I'm a huge

Larry Johnson fan. Larry Johnson Senior maybe for me, the
only thing out of Ohio State that actually like I
like Larry Johnson Virginia excuse me Senior.

Love what he's done. And then he got a chance
to coach a couple of years back.

Speaker 8 (17:22):
But no, trust the talent that comes out of that
defensive lineup.

Speaker 12 (17:26):
The obsession in this town for an edge opposite of
Aiden Hutchinson.

Speaker 5 (17:33):
It's been going on for a couple of years now.
But right when you started this off, you mentioned something
really really important.

Speaker 12 (17:40):
He might not got in the sacks, but the guys
on the other sides of him did. Our edge rushers
got better with this pick. Our defensive line got deeper
and better with this pick.

Speaker 5 (17:51):
Our secondary they got a little bit better.

Talk about it, no doubt.

So I think that this fits in exactly what they needed.
And you don't, you know, I.

Look back through all of the last like twenty Super
Bowl winners. They don't have crazy sack totals on the edge.
When you look at the JJ Watson, the Miles Garrett's,
the premieer edge rushers in this league.

There aren't many Super Bowl rings to go around.

It's about the four, it's about the seven, eight, nine
in depth that you have. And that's what these guys
are doing. We've had that on the offensive line. Now
we're starting to build it on the defensive line too.

Yeah, that's what you saw at the Rams when they
won the Super Bowl. They had Aaron Downald for a
bunch of years, they had Robert Quinn but got rid
of him. But then when they want they have Von
Miller on one side, they had Aaron.

Donald in the middle.

You have Floyd on the other side. You were able
to do multiple things. Pete, you said you had something

Last night about Telik Williams's pick. Two of those words
were Larry Johnson and the other word was disruptor. And
it's like, you know, and you said a dance and
he makes everybody around him better. That pick last night
was a pick to protect his defensive line and protect
all of his players on the defense.

this draft, I think people start to get more comfortable
with the idea of what this team was and what
this team could be if they were completely helpy. I
know it's if Behay, if that we have, I think
people are confident. I think people are confident in Brad
holmes choice.

I saw his interview before. When you watch an interview

that top eighteen I always talk about and they certainly did.

the case may be, because that's the area where the
Lions are mostly thin.

this player appears to be a guy that could come

Johnson is going to get an all pro type player.
This kid is a top five player and he's going
to be an all Pro. And I don't know what

the injury situation is, but clearly there are thirty two
teams last night that were not commfortable with his medicals.
