It's the makeup of the men in the locker room,
right Like, we don't have guys who give in, we
don't have guys who make excuses. We just have guys
that show up every single day and lay it on
the line for one another. And that's all you can
ask for, you know, It's it's a special group when
to a man, they don't want to let each other down,
and so they're not going to let their own personal

(00:44):
feelings get in the way of the job that they
need to do for their teammate, for their brother, for
their So you know, that's just who we are and
we're fortunate to have, you know, guys with that type
of character and that type of spirit.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
It's been seventeen years, seventeen years since a Pistons head
coach could go on and do a post game press

The Mecca of basketball.

Speaker 6 (01:20):

A lot to talk about today, lot to unpack.

Speaker 6 (03:18):
Tom mans Away is here sitting in the Man's chair
soon to be the Man's massage chair.

Speaker 9 (03:24):
Get out wait, great hey, great night, last night, back
and forth, Tigers and Pistons. Tigers of course wrapped up early,
which was awesome. Great run over to Padres and then
the Pistons put on a show man and boy they
gave us the roller coaster. They got it down. I
mean they were up fifteen, then it was tied, and
then Dennis Schroeder put it away, So Denner Shrewder. My

(03:47):
hat's off to you, and a special shout out to
my man about to go ahead. That didn't even Paul
read thirteen last night, which led the team in the
plus minus out of glory. He played eleven minutes. He
scored six points, but they were a big six points.

Speaker 8 (04:05):
Paul.

Speaker 9 (04:06):
The shout outs for you.

Speaker 6 (04:07):
Yeah, lots of pistons to talk about it, and I'm
already seen it in the chat JMO on.

Speaker 5 (04:11):
Following the Detroit Lions. What does it all mean? We're
gonna break that down coming up later on the show.
We got Ricky Burns.

Speaker 1 (04:19):
In the man.

Speaker 9 (04:20):
I'm just excited. Yesterday was perfect.

Speaker 10 (04:22):
I didn't go back and forth like you because of
the app stuff, but it was nice because the baseball
game ended right before the fourth quarter Pissons game.

Speaker 5 (04:29):
It was perfect.

Speaker 2 (04:30):
Man.

Speaker 5 (04:30):
My blood is.

Speaker 6 (04:31):
Going And of course the one, the only Pete let
Pete Cook in the TD booth, Ricky, let's get his
mic on for us.

Speaker 5 (04:39):
It's a key there, your logo on your h oh goodness.

Speaker 2 (04:45):
Anyway it over here.

Speaker 11 (04:50):
But that's my life, my lord, is always on.

Speaker 6 (04:52):
Just well, it's a little tilted, but I appreciate it.

Speaker 5 (04:56):
It's okay, it's okay. First of all, I want to
apolog everybody.

Speaker 6 (05:01):
Yesterday, the question was asked about watching the draft or
the last second Piston game.

Speaker 5 (05:07):
And you know, I gotta be honest with you.

Speaker 6 (05:10):
My heart has not pumped for a Piston game like
it did last night in seventeen years at least.

Speaker 12 (05:19):
Sure.

Speaker 6 (05:19):
And I forgot how it felt to watch a tight
playoff basketball.

Speaker 5 (05:25):
Game when your team has a chance to win.

Speaker 6 (05:27):
I forgot how I live and die with every single possession.
I forgot how much I hate flopping people like Jalen Brunson.
I forgot how much I take joy in watching Carl
Anthony Towns score zero fin points in the second half.
But honestly, I forgot. I honestly forgot what it was

(05:51):
like to witness a playoff game.

Speaker 5 (05:54):
Where your team had a chance to win.

Speaker 6 (05:56):
Man, because we gotta admit, and it's true, it's just facts.
The Pistons were the longest standing playoff losing streak for
any franchise in any sport in history.

Speaker 5 (06:09):
That is what we just survived, Ladies and gentlemen.

Speaker 8 (06:11):
I didn't know that.

Speaker 5 (06:12):
Yeah, neither did I till I heard it this morning and.

Speaker 9 (06:14):
I was.

Speaker 6 (06:16):
Record, yeah, but I forget, Like last night, my beautiful wife, Corey,
she fell asleep on my chest.

Speaker 5 (06:23):
Woke up like, are you okay?

Speaker 6 (06:25):
Because my honestly, my heart was beating out of my
chest in the best way possible, and the honest the
Lions are the only ones who've given that to me
over the past five years.

Speaker 5 (06:37):
No Tigers baseball.

Speaker 6 (06:38):
Maybe a little bit last year in the playoffs with
the Tigers, but not like yesterday. Man, I literally could
feel my heart pounding through my chest.

Speaker 7 (06:46):
I remember running into you at four, crossing the street.

Speaker 8 (06:51):
From what did they used to call that? Across the
street from the Palace.

Speaker 5 (06:55):
It was a lot of the thing the post.

Speaker 8 (06:56):
Yeah was the post.

Speaker 7 (06:58):
I remember running you and you were on top of
the world, and we were all on top of the world.

Speaker 8 (07:04):
That that's summer four was amazing.

Speaker 7 (07:07):
And I know you're a football guy, but I gotta
be honest, in my heart of hearts, I believe you
are equally a basketball guy.

Speaker 5 (07:15):
Listen, I am.

Speaker 6 (07:17):
It's just once again I forgot, like I forgot what
it was like in four. I forgot what it like
I remember being excited for the championships, but the in
game experience of caring about a basketball game, it's just different.
And last night last night hooked me back in in
a way that was like, Oh, we hit that first
piece of crack again and we're back right like I

(07:39):
ain't had in.

Speaker 13 (07:39):
Fifteen years, but we back. Tyron Bickhamson's here. I want
more pistons, I want more playoff wins.

Speaker 5 (07:47):
I need it.

Speaker 12 (07:48):
I need it.

Speaker 6 (07:48):
But just felt so good last night, and so many
good things happened last night. You know, Kate Cunningham did
exactly what we said he had to do, kind of
did it in reverse though, right we said he had
to lead the way and get everybody out and running early.
He took over early and let the guys finish it late.
If you watch the last two minutes, Cade was getting
denied the basketball. He wasn't working for it as hard

(08:11):
as I was critiquing him while.

Speaker 5 (08:13):
The game was going on.

Speaker 9 (08:13):
But stro was tired.

Speaker 6 (08:15):
He was tired because he carried the team for the
first three and a half corps. And that's kind of
reversed though a couple of times it was like, dude,
come on, like but at the end of the day.
Schroeder hits the big three when needed, and you need
teammates to pick you up when you've carried.

Speaker 5 (08:29):
Them through three and three quarters of your game.

Speaker 7 (08:32):
Yeah, And we talked about it yesterday and we kind
of thought that he would do that, Kobe Jordan, get
your teammates involved for a half and then take the
game over in the second half. But Tim Hardaway was
not hitting shots early on. Nope, Beasley was not hitting
shots early on.

Speaker 8 (08:48):
And I think that that's a.

Speaker 7 (08:50):
Big step in his progression to being that face of
the league that we're talking about, and that's reading the room,
understanding if your guys are hot or if they're not,
and if they're not, as a superstar, you got to
take over.

Speaker 8 (09:03):
And that's just what he did. He has this unflappable nature.
In the playoffs so far, there.

Speaker 7 (09:11):
Was some egregious calls the clear path foul with him,
and I believe it was bridges on the heels of
a second offensive interference called two games in a row.
But you know that team at no point melted down.
They emotionally kept their heads for all forty eight minutes.

(09:35):
And that was a huge difference for me because talked
about it over and over again. Chemistry and depth would
be the key for this team to get over the Knicks.
They lost that chemistry in the fourth quarter, but the
depth and the chemistry in Game two was unquestioned. It
was unflappable and that is why they came out on
top on the road.

Speaker 9 (09:53):
My guy Jalen Duran played a great game. He played
the most minutes he's ever played last night, and he
was there and he was getting those rebounds when you
needed him. He was clearing out underneath that basket when
you needed him. Wound up with a double double. Hey,
three guys with double doubles last night. It was just
a great team effort. Like this team goes, they go
ten deep, right. Paul freaking Reid got minutes, man, and

(10:18):
he made the most of it. JB. Bickerstaff. Bickerstaff, he
played the perfect hand last night. And that's even after
you lose Asar Thompson when he fouled out. Piss has
got to stay away from the fouls. They're gonna call
a lot of them coming up here on Thursday.

Speaker 5 (10:32):
But he was okay with us are following out.

Speaker 6 (10:37):
That's part of the plan is to just keep punishing
grunts and one of our guys files out. Guess what,
we got another guard to bring in to be physical.

Speaker 5 (10:44):
He talked about that.

Speaker 9 (10:44):
After the game and Greg kelser I was watching the
Fan Duel part you guys were on there. I think
you were on ESPN broadcast. I was on the fan
Duel listening to Georgian and uh Greg, And Greg said,
do me a favorite Pistons Game three. If Jalen brunts
and has the ball, do not leave your feet, stay

(11:05):
on the ground, don't jump, don't do anything. The guy
just throws himself into you. He's a great ballplayer, all right,
let's start there. He is a great ballplayer. He knows
how to get to the free throw line. And he
missed an important free throw late last night on that
three pointer when he just big to himself into I forgot.

Speaker 5 (11:25):
Who it was.

Speaker 9 (11:26):
It was No, No, it was late in the game.

Speaker 8 (11:28):
Durham.

Speaker 9 (11:29):
It was dur Yes, it was Durant. Late in the game.
He went to he had three and he put his
hand up, give me three, Give me three. All he's
doing is jumping into people, jumping into people. But that's
what he does. He's an all star. He knows what
he's doing don't leave your feet? Like Greg Kelser said,
do you.

Speaker 7 (11:48):
Think that because the NBA in the last few years
said that they wanted to eliminate that play.

Speaker 6 (11:53):
They wanted to allow the defender to come down and
natural shooting motions.

Speaker 7 (11:58):
He said, So, you know, looking at Twitter last night
and they've got the well Woodward Sports with the brunts
and flopper remix. But then I also saw the same
thing happened in the Boston Celtics game. I'm wondering, is
this gonna be a conversation that the league has with
these refs and makes an adjustment on the fly because

(12:18):
nobody wants to see that that's not basketball.

Speaker 6 (12:20):
What's awesome to me is usually Detroit operates in a vacuum,
like if we're complaining about somebody, it's like, okay, you know,
that's just our skew of it. But national Twitter, everybody
is talking about how unethical of a player that brought
ethical unethical the guy, I mean, he's James Harden two
point zero. When it comes with the herky jerky, floppy

(12:43):
grab it and it's crafty, it's cute, it's fun, but
it's also part of the reason why the NBA had
been dying.

Speaker 5 (12:49):
And what did I tell you about a.

Speaker 6 (12:51):
Month ago on this very desk The Detroit Pistons could
save the NBA with the.

Speaker 5 (12:56):
Way they're playing basketball.

Speaker 6 (12:57):
Yeah, and it's true, and you're seeing it right before
our eyes in front of the biggest audience that the
NBA can provide in New York, because New York is
turning on Brunson too, like, hey enough trying to draw
the foul play basketball, because when you start losing and
you're playing like that, it's gonna come to hurt you
because everybody thinks you're just overthinking. Like, if you're a

(13:18):
good player, go be a good player, go be Cad, right,
go be Cad if you want to be that good.
But he's not Cad and he's not that good, and
that's the problem. But I'm telling you, if the Pistons
can put a stamp on this series and show that
the flopping version of the NBA is finally dead, over gone,
the NBA will start trending up again.

Speaker 9 (13:40):
Listen, Pete put up the New York Post again, sure
and watch what Just read what they wrote. None of
mine would pissed off, that was one thing. But read
the bottom there stick.

Speaker 6 (13:49):
The next whine about refs after getting manhandled by Detroit
to even the series.

Speaker 10 (13:55):
Malik Beasley was like the ring leader yesterday, so he
was getting in their heads heavy.

Speaker 9 (14:00):
You can see it.

Speaker 7 (14:01):
I want to tip my hat to Kate because for
the mom of abuse that Cade deals with on the
perimeter going to the basket, just all game long, he
could easily be a dramatic flopper and not even flopping
to the ground but doing the head throwback and all
the things that these guys like Lebron and Brunson do

(14:23):
and he would get more free throws.

Speaker 8 (14:25):
But he's just two gangster.

Speaker 7 (14:28):
I honestly believe like he's like, I know, I could
probably get to the line more if I flopped, but
it's just not in his DNA, and I love that
about it.

Speaker 6 (14:36):
And with that though, he's gonna earn those calls and
they're gonna come naturally, right like it's he's not gonna
have to You could see listen, well, I think we
could all admit Cad was getting calls that he traditionally
hasn't gotten all season long last night, and you could
see a couple of times he was like you could
also see it a couple of times when he looked alone,
like what the hell Like when he gets knocked to

(14:57):
the ground and he called.

Speaker 7 (14:58):
To give him a tiki tech ones on the peri,
but not the hard contact ones yet at the who
But that's the that's the good part of having a
six foot six point guard that can handle the contact.

Speaker 5 (15:07):
Brunson's just a little guy.

Speaker 9 (15:09):
He just a little guy.

Speaker 6 (15:10):
He can't handle the contact when he gets down there,
so he's got to do the flopping. He's gotta do
trickery because he doesn't have the skill set.

Speaker 8 (15:18):
And we got our first super chat.

Speaker 7 (15:20):
We've got a first entry into the giveaway today. It's
of course from burn New York turned on Brunson because
they had to see kid do it ethically and clean. Also,
if the ref doesn't call it, you throw away a possession.

Speaker 8 (15:33):
Stupid, I feel you burn.

Speaker 11 (15:35):
I'm gonna get burned. Two entries for that.

Speaker 7 (15:38):
It's five months. It gets too Why there you go?
Keep them coming in, guys, don't forget. We got an
awesome prize package today for those super chats, the Rip Hamilton,
bobble Head and a whole bunch of other cools.

Speaker 9 (15:50):
Man. I mean, I've never seen a team dominate the
first six quarters of a basketball game. Well, three in
the first game and three here. They didn't dominate the fourth.
They played even in the fourth. Next next chapter, fifteen
point lead down to zero and we needed that three
point shop by shrewder So. But the Pistons man, the

(16:13):
Knicks gotta be scratching their head. That's why I want
to play Tom Thibodeau here for you. Tom Thibodeau, the
knickt head coach a little upset because he doesn't think
his guy got to the line as much as we did.

Speaker 14 (16:26):
Obviously, huge discrepancy and free throws, huge, huge, So I
want to I got to take a look at.

Speaker 9 (16:31):
That, right.

Speaker 14 (16:32):
So, you know, I don't understand, you know how on
one side, you know, you talk about the direct line
drives the guys getting fouled and as not being called
right so and look, I really don't give a crap
how they call the game as long as it's consistent
on both sides. So if Cunningham's driving and there's marginal
contact and he's getting to the line, then Jalen deserves

(16:54):
to be getting to the line.

Speaker 9 (16:55):
It's really that simple. He did get to the line
late there, Coach especially on the three point shot, and
then Dante corrected us. It was Tobias Harris that got
called for that foul on the three point shot that
he threw his body. Brunson threw himself literally into Tobias
Harris was standing there like a statue. So you are
getting the calls. But in the first half the Pistols

(17:18):
will went to the line ninety percent of the time
compared to what the Knicks did. But they kind of
gave it back a little bit at the end. That's
why I'm saying, you're gonna have to earn Thursday night.
Don't expect to be up fifteen points on Thursday night
on these guys because Thibodeau is gonna run run these guys.
These guys will not be down double digits long like

(17:38):
they've been going into the fourth quarter. You can't.

Speaker 7 (17:42):
I'm a little surprised by the discrepancy because I thought
it was much closer. In fact, the Pistons had two
more fouls but took fifteen more free throws.

Speaker 5 (17:50):
Yes, that's what That's what happens when you're the aggressor.

Speaker 6 (17:53):
I mean, when you're sitting back trying to bait people
into three point shots and jumping into them.

Speaker 9 (17:57):
I think the rests were kind of like sick of it.
They will watch it, yeah, yeah, yeah.

Speaker 6 (18:01):
And this is where Thibodeau looks like a coach that's
already beaten.

Speaker 5 (18:05):
Like remember JB.

Speaker 6 (18:06):
Bickerstaff after Game one, gotta we played it yesterday. He
seemed like he had it figured out and he was
okay with it. Tim's looks like he doesn't really have
a direction to go to.

Speaker 9 (18:15):
Because how the whole the whole game.

Speaker 5 (18:17):
And how do they beat the Pistons? In Game one?

Speaker 6 (18:19):
Campaign played out of his mind? What happened to Campaign
this in the first quarter? Gone boom? Gone See? You
said New York Knicks are going to rely on Campaign
to be the guy that beats the Detroit Piston. Their
seasons already over, and I'm already seeing it from New
York sports fans of they're done with tips like, hey,

(18:41):
I even if we win this round, we know we're
not gonna go any further in the playoffs. The Thibodau experiment,
you see what he does to his players in the
regular season, and then once you get in the playoffs,
they're just worn down. Karl Anthony Towns had his hands
on his hips two minutes into the game. I mean,
like he's just obese, so he can't do it.

Speaker 9 (18:59):
They're getting out hustled. It's the young Pistons against the team.
The Knicks aren't old, but they're older and they got
more mileage on them. Because Libideau, like he plays only
seven players for the year, they have the three of
the top five players in the top five in the
NBA for most minutes. Three of them belonged to the
New York Knicks. So they get gassed. And that's what

(19:21):
he's done in past. He's a good coach. He just
plays his players hard. Look at last year they made
it to the Eastern Finals, and what happened. They ran
out of gas. They ran out of Yes, they were gas.

Speaker 8 (19:34):
Now.

Speaker 9 (19:34):
Ryan Armani said this a couple of months ago. Well,
doing March Madness, he said, Rick Patino, let's see Rick
Patino get to the final four with Saint John's. It
didn't happen. But then Rick Patino stays in the Garden
next year and takes over the New York Times one
last time. Do not discount Rick Patino becoming an NBA

(19:57):
coach again in New York.

Speaker 8 (19:58):
I think the.

Speaker 7 (19:58):
Knicks needed to end this series in five games. They
needed to hold Serve at home, because once you start
getting into game six, Game seven, as you said, stick
Calt was gassed in the first quarter. Yeah, this guy's
put up ten and six all game. You know, I
kind of want to back it up to something that
you said, though Lions Fan two to two to two,

(20:20):
the Pistons will transform the NBA, and you just brought
that exact point up. The bad Boys transformed the NBA.
They literally changed rules, they took away the handsheck going
to work and then they'll going to work did too.
And I think that the the NBA kind of supported
that team and the fact that they didn't like the
super team that the Lakers had put together, which they.

Speaker 8 (20:43):
Knew was the future of the NBA.

Speaker 7 (20:45):
But the going to work Pistons did something that nobody
was doing at the time, and that was holding the
teams to under ninety, to under eighty, to under seventy.
And now you've got this team again that you know,
they held the Knicks to under one hundred points and
they held him to two quarters where they only had
eighteen points.

Speaker 8 (21:06):
This team is transforming the NBA and.

Speaker 7 (21:09):
Showing safety the franchises. You can be a defense first team.
You don't have to shoot fifty three threes a game.

Speaker 6 (21:18):
Or how about this, just play with effort and look
how fun it looks as.

Speaker 5 (21:26):
Simple as form.

Speaker 6 (21:27):
That's what the Pistons are doing to revolutionize basketball again.

Speaker 5 (21:31):
It's not gonna be a lazy Lucas sport. And I
love Luca. I think Luca's great, But you're.

Speaker 6 (21:35):
Saying Luca's ass get exposed in the playoffs because what
do you gotta do. You gotta play both sides of
the ball, you gotta have intensity.

Speaker 5 (21:42):
Its different style of ball game.

Speaker 6 (21:44):
That's why guys like Lindsay Hunter became almost all stars
payoff time. Yeah, because look what you were checking in,
Mike James and Lindsay Hunter to shut down your backcourt all.

Speaker 5 (21:53):
Based on effort alone.

Speaker 6 (21:55):
And Lindsay could score the ball, but that wasn't his
objective out there. It was to shut you down. And
just the fact that it's just nice that we get
to lead this charge. Imagine if we were leading the
charge of flopping bruntson and like that's what we were
attaching our wagon. This is Detroit basketball, Like that could
be our identity.

Speaker 5 (22:12):
What Brunson and the New York Knicks are You.

Speaker 7 (22:15):
Wouldn't You wouldn't have woken your wife up with your
heartbeat if that's the kind of hoops you were watching.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
No, No, it's.

Speaker 9 (22:23):
Just this was one last night with without two of
their best shooters, I mean Tim Hardaway and Malik Beasley
had off nights, and they still won that game.

Speaker 5 (22:32):
And you know what I love about that? Mass?

Speaker 6 (22:33):
What are role players? Where do they play better at home?
You think they're gonna go one of fourteen at home?
Of course, even if that turns into five of fourteen,
there would in this.

Speaker 9 (22:44):
Game, guess what they didn't have Beef stew either, yep,
guess why?

Speaker 5 (22:49):
And guess what they didn't have Ivy.

Speaker 6 (22:50):
That's either like this is the Lion's version of the
basketball team.

Speaker 9 (22:57):
And still they are fierce.

Speaker 7 (23:00):
That four man rotation in New York is not gonna
be enough. This team is stacked depth and chemistry.

Speaker 6 (23:08):
And but and where can the Knicks? Who can the
Knicks turn to? Will we talk about that last night?

Speaker 5 (23:12):
Is Obie the guy?

Speaker 7 (23:14):
Well, honestly, I think that they have to go into
their bench and find a disruptor.

Speaker 8 (23:20):
And when you look at.

Speaker 7 (23:21):
Game eighty when we beat the Knicks just at the
end of the season. They didn't have Josh Hart and
they didn't have cats, so they went into their bench
and they brought out Precious Atchua, who hit some big threes.
He's an effort guy, you know, a stretch four or
five that can block shots at the rim. But then
the guy that I thought was super effective in that
game that they have not had in this series, aside

(23:44):
from a little bit of Mitchell Robinson, who was their
best bench player last night. But I just it's PJ Tucker.
PJ Tucker came in and pissed. I'm not he still plays, yeah,
but he he came in in that game eighty against
the Pistons towards the end of the regular season. He's
just he was disrupting, he was getting into the Pistons heads.

Speaker 8 (24:03):
He was playing physical.

Speaker 7 (24:05):
That's not a physical team, that's not a gritty team.
That is a strong, five man starters rotation, and that
is it.

Speaker 8 (24:15):
And if you got Josh Hart playing the way he
was last night, it's a four man rotation.

Speaker 9 (24:19):
He could have been called when he when he had
the dunk at the end, and I forgot who was
defending him. It looked like he got fouled, and they
didn't call it if you remember, sure, but there was
a lot of the game. Hats off to the refs.
This is some eighties basketball. They're let it go on, right,
give him credit.

Speaker 5 (24:36):
That's why I don't like that.

Speaker 11 (24:37):
Pistons Moniker, they got going the back to work stuff.
That's not who they are.

Speaker 1 (24:41):
That's the bad boys.

Speaker 5 (24:42):
Man.

Speaker 7 (24:46):
I didn't like it at first, and then I saw
it last night before I was going to bed, and
I saw the logan.

Speaker 8 (24:51):
I was like, they are back to work and the
going to the.

Speaker 9 (24:54):
Bad boys were back to work.

Speaker 5 (24:56):
Okay, well that's a lot better.

Speaker 11 (24:57):
But you can't just take one.

Speaker 5 (24:59):
I was saying, we put it together, return to there
you go.

Speaker 9 (25:05):
How about bad as back?

Speaker 5 (25:06):
How about is gonna look like hope of the things
you're hearing about? Uh oh, let me let me pull that.

Speaker 9 (25:13):
Do we call it, by the way, Johnny Kane joins
us in just a couple of.

Speaker 5 (25:16):
Minutes, what we call the plaza? I don't know what
we'll call this.

Speaker 11 (25:20):
We got a nickname it?

Speaker 9 (25:22):
What do we gotta nickname? Like the factory or the.

Speaker 11 (25:25):
Horse horse Plaza, horse Power Plaza.

Speaker 5 (25:28):
Horse power Pla. I don't know about that.

Speaker 9 (25:30):
Come on, Toronto's got Jurassic Park. That's a good thing.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
That's horrible.

Speaker 6 (25:34):
Rather that course, power Plaza also got Drake, so that's
an l uh.

Speaker 5 (25:39):
Let's see. Here we go.

Speaker 6 (25:41):
The Pistons put out their press release for all the
things that you could expect coming up. Festivities will go
off at the pregame fan festival outside the Little Caesars
Arena Plaza, that's what they're calling it, beginning at four
pm on Game three on Thursday, April twenty fourth, ten
am for Game four on Sunday, April twenty seventh.

Speaker 5 (25:59):
Family friendly activities. You're gonna be a ton to do.

Speaker 6 (26:02):
Here's the part that I think is cool, and Anson
and I both thought this was sweet. Kevin Saunderson, the
DJ Local Detroit d M DJ, the damn they got
him doing halftime of Game four.

Speaker 11 (26:13):
I'm not mad at that school, I'm not mad at
that city.

Speaker 15 (26:17):
And then everybody else is not gonna understand it.

Speaker 5 (26:20):
But Kem is singing the national an.

Speaker 9 (26:23):
There we go. So there's no dogs and.

Speaker 6 (26:28):
No no, none of that, none of no quick change
at halftimes, remember.

Speaker 9 (26:33):
Quick there, yep.

Speaker 6 (26:36):
And then they just got tons of new food and
drink coming in the Triple Double, a triple patty smash
burger with bacon, cheese and burger sauce. They also got
the Coop Truffle Poo Fries is gonna be all over.

Speaker 5 (26:52):
You gotta do some food reviews while you're done. You anyway,
you got a stick?

Speaker 11 (27:01):
Where'd you find all that?

Speaker 5 (27:02):
In Priston's press release? Okay, I'll send it to thank you?

Speaker 9 (27:08):
Could you?

Speaker 5 (27:08):
Thank you?

Speaker 9 (27:08):
Sir? I don't think it's sold out yet. There are
some tickets available. It's gonna sound sold out though.

Speaker 8 (27:13):
Needs to get sold down.

Speaker 5 (27:15):
They bring it back.

Speaker 9 (27:16):
Thundersticks.

Speaker 5 (27:17):
Whoa now for the kids at home? When the palace
was rockets the pictures of thunder these things called thunders.
Clank them together, you'd make the noise. Everybody has a
good time.

Speaker 9 (27:30):
You got to inflate them first. Yeah, you got to.

Speaker 5 (27:32):
Blow into them. But the key has put two fingers
in blow.

Speaker 9 (27:35):
Yeah, that's my My uncle said the same thing.

Speaker 10 (27:38):
By the way, talking about guys.

Speaker 6 (27:42):
Okay, coming up, Johnny Kate will keep it family.

Speaker 11 (27:46):
That's a Getty's image. I can't use it, but go ahead.

Speaker 5 (27:49):
We have right you could use it. Just throw it up.

Speaker 6 (27:53):
Okay, Yeah, Thundersticks are coming back, so lots of things
going down.

Speaker 5 (27:58):

Speaker 5 (28:39):
Is gonna be fun.

Speaker 6 (28:40):
And you know what's cool, we're talking to the manager
of Buddies. Shout out to my man. I forgot I
think it was Kevin. He was talking about how last year,
you know, they got like a two hundred thousand dollars
boost in sales because of the draft. Piston's having two
home playoff games. Not quite the draft.

Speaker 8 (28:56):
Gonna help, but it's gonna help though.

Speaker 6 (28:58):
And you can't forget out the economic value of the
Pistons being good too.

Speaker 7 (29:03):
And you know what else another uh, super chat from
burn Pistons win.

Speaker 8 (29:09):
If the next answer is on the bench, and that's
the truth, man, because if they don't have any answer.

Speaker 7 (29:14):
But their answer was campaign in their answer is getting
more foul calls.

Speaker 6 (29:19):
And when you're relying upon the officials as part of
your strategy.

Speaker 6 (32:17):
At first I was a little pissed off, but now
I'm super happy, like it's providing us with a special
sports night.

Speaker 5 (32:23):
Yeah. I don't think any of us.

Speaker 9 (32:25):
Predicted it's great.

Speaker 8 (32:27):
Man.

Speaker 9 (32:27):
By the time the Pistons game has done, the Lions
would have moved up into the twentieth spot and we're
gonna get to see them pick the guy that's gonna
put us over the top and win the Super Bowl.
But we're gonna worry about the Pistons first because they
have a home game coming up here in just a
couple of days. Cannot wait for it.

Speaker 5 (32:45):
Is Johnny Kanaan. Let's talk to the man, the myth,
the legend.

Speaker 9 (32:50):
Straight off the flight, Hey Johnny, what's going on.

Speaker 12 (32:56):
How are you guys doing well?

Speaker 9 (32:57):
Great man? Thanks for joining us on short term here.
I know you had a fun time in New York.
Tell me about the experience at the Garden, Man.

Speaker 12 (33:07):
That's incredible, you know.

Speaker 18 (33:08):
I mean when people talk about playoff atmosphere being different
from the regular season, you know, Garden.

Speaker 12 (33:25):
Nights weekends, Uh, everybody.

Speaker 9 (33:33):
Was, Johnny, we got a bad connection. We got a
bad connection. I'm gonna ask you to hang it up
and let's try it again, because we couldn't hear you.
We love, we love, we love.

Speaker 5 (33:46):
It's chopping.

Speaker 9 (33:47):
It's a little chopping. So let's try it again. Man,
that's Johnny. Can't coming to you from home, of.

Speaker 5 (33:52):
Course, but he was.

Speaker 6 (33:54):
He was in there last night, and I'm excited to
ask him especially.

Speaker 5 (33:57):
I want to talk to him after l c A,
after we play on Thursday.

Speaker 6 (34:01):
Just seeing the difference between what was going on in
New York and what goes on in Detroit. Because the
ticket prices to go to that Knicks game, they were
saying it was cheaper to buy a flight to Detroit,
a hotel and tickets to the Pistons playoff games.

Speaker 9 (34:14):
And how it is in the regular season too, I
mean the Knicks and the Rangers. Uh, some of the
most expensive tickets you're gonna have in the whole cunt.

Speaker 5 (34:21):
How many how many people?

Speaker 9 (34:22):
Does Madison's twenty twenty one to five? Sometimes?

Speaker 5 (34:24):
Okay?

Speaker 6 (34:25):
I mean twenty thousand people for a population of seven
million is like here, you know, there's only what, there's
maybe four million in the metro population here in Detroit.

Speaker 5 (34:35):
So yeah, squeeze all those people.

Speaker 6 (34:36):
Into MSG is tough, Johnny Caane back on with us.
It's their money, edwards with mass right here there we go.

Speaker 18 (34:43):
Here you go buy the right, check you connection, check
your signals strength over here.

Speaker 14 (34:47):
You know.

Speaker 9 (34:50):
Hey, hey, it's all right. You left us. We asked
you about the garden, the atmosphere, the playoffs. How was
it all?

Speaker 11 (34:56):
Man?

Speaker 9 (34:56):
You would air for both games. It had to be
a great a great thrill.

Speaker 18 (35:00):
Yeah, it's incredible, man, And sorry about that. I I'll
tell you what. Like the gardens obviously a special place.
I mean New York's the mecca. And just like celebrity Row,
I mean you're looking across the way, you know, guys
like Ben Stiller and Michael J. Fox and John Trippa,
the guy from H. Sopranos, I mean just sitting like
all right next to you, and it's so it's just

(35:21):
wild and everybody's there, you know, fired up for the Knicks.
And that crowd was electric, like the the entire the
whole thing. Game one game two, game ones you know
stands out because.

Speaker 12 (35:32):
That was so palpable.

Speaker 18 (35:33):
But to see how electric the crowd got and then
to see the Pistons take that crowd out of the game. Uh,
in particular in game two, Like that was special to
watch because as much as you know Knicks fans, they
love their Knicks until they don't. And when when you know,
when you're part of the reason they can they can
silence the crowd, you can ship that that momentum in

(35:54):
your favor, and I thought that's what the Pistons were
able to do.

Speaker 6 (35:57):
Yeah, we mentioned that early, like, not only is the
true critiquing Jalen bruntson very hard on the flopping, but
you're starting to hear from New Yorkers like just kind
of play ball, man, what are you doing trying to
draw all these files where there's groans inside of MSG.

Speaker 18 (36:12):
Yeah, it's tough, right, I mean, look, we all have
our own personal styles of like what we like, you know,
and some people like watching you know, brunts and play,
and some people like watching Luca play. Some people like
watching Lebron play. I like watching kid play. Obviously we
get a chance to do that eighty two times a year.
But when he wasn't getting files earlier in his career,

(36:33):
he would still go to the Cup. And he doesn't complain,
he doesn't bait files. He doesn't request files. He just
goes and plays. And I think, you know, as a coach,
as a fan, you just want to watch guys go
out there and play. And obviously you know Jalen's giving
up a bunch of size, But it is like as
you're watching it, you know, I mean, it's it's like,
you know, you're damned if you do, damned if you don't,
as far as trying to defend him, because he will

(36:55):
elicit contact, and but to watch it time and time
and time again, it's like you don't want to take
the aggressiveness out.

Speaker 12 (37:02):
Of defending him, you know.

Speaker 18 (37:03):
And I think a star Thompson will continue to learn that,
and obviously he's gonna be an elite, elite defender as
his career moves along.

Speaker 12 (37:10):
But it is, you.

Speaker 18 (37:10):
Know, when you're watching it, like you know, nobody wants
to see. I don't think most people want to see
teams go to the line twenty five, twenty six times
a game, but that's part of their element, that's part
of what they do, and it kind of grinds the
game down a little bit. Obviously last night, you know,
the Pistons were fortunate to get to one hundred, but
I me, that's a low scoring game, you know, and
when you're getting stoppage of the clock and going to

(37:31):
the free throw line every two to three possessions down
the floor, it does. It disrupts tempo and you don't
get to watch basketball and it's in its freest form.

Speaker 6 (37:39):
Johnny came from fan Duel joining us on your Money
and Edwards Show with Mez.

Speaker 5 (37:43):
I m not even stick filling in for Ryan Ormani.
That is Anson filling in for Brayln.

Speaker 6 (37:48):
I gotta respect your love for George Blaha, because me
and Anson share it beyond. But the pictures that you
post on your Twitter of that man's stunting, how cool
is George Blaja in real life?

Speaker 12 (38:01):
I'll tell you what, man, that's my guy right there.

Speaker 18 (38:03):
And you know, any one of us, man, any one
of us that are on the microphone right now, you know,
it's a blessing to be in this profession. It's a
blessing to work in sports and to carve out forty
nine years on the mic and with no end in sight,
you know, he continues to bring it. I mean that
it's his life, you know, and and he is you know,
like I think we all probably have our own personal style.

(38:26):
George has his and and her. He puts the fedora
on and he heads in and he's ready to go
to work, but always dressed up, always ready to go,
and ready to provide the dolcet tone.

Speaker 12 (38:36):
So we have a great friendship and I know that
people appreciate that.

Speaker 18 (38:40):
So sometimes they give a little peek behind the curtain
of the wardrobe of the day for mister b.

Speaker 6 (38:46):
And you're starting to hear it within George's calls. You're
starting to hear it within Mason's calls. Inside of LCA.
They're ramping up to playoff version two of how they're calling.

Speaker 5 (38:55):
Games, and it's getting pretty exciting.

Speaker 12 (38:57):
Yeah, and that's it, right.

Speaker 18 (38:58):
I mean sometimes when you when you you know, reignite
the fire that burns within you know, last year was tough,
Let's be honest, the year before was tough.

Speaker 9 (39:06):
Uh.

Speaker 12 (39:07):
It's always a privilege.

Speaker 18 (39:08):
It's always a blessing to watch it and and and
to call it for sure, But when you when you
start to this is what you play for, this is
what you live for. I mean, like to get to
this level, Rindsman. Last year once the Tigers got to
the postseason, like if it's a if. It's a if
the fans are are are feeling that vibration within. You
want to see that come through from the guys who

(39:29):
are calling it, you know. So, Uh, I can't even
I don't have no idea. I'm hoping to catch up
with Macey here in the next day or two, but
I can't even imagine what John Mason's gonna be like, uh,
you know, come Thursday night. But yeah, with him and
blah Kelseer, the whole bit. I mean, it's this is
what it's all about. And and when you have a
team like this, uh, to be able to ignite it, uh,

(39:50):
city wide, statewide, it's special.

Speaker 12 (39:52):
Man, It's incredible.

Speaker 6 (39:53):
Yeah, you heard Dan Miller talk about it, like the
tough years, that's when you were getting paid to go
to work.

Speaker 5 (39:58):
This is what you signed up for and have fun answered.

Speaker 7 (40:01):
I know you got some questions, yeah, you know, before
I get to some Pistons questions. I've been very curious
because I've watched the Pistons my entire life, and you
are really the first like youthful announcer that we've seen
in decades. And I've always been kind of curious about
your background and where you came from, if you've always
been a Pistons fan, and what you knew of Blaha

(40:24):
before you got a chance to work with him.

Speaker 12 (40:26):
Yeah, good question, man. I so I grew up one
hundred miles from here in northwest Ohio.

Speaker 18 (40:31):
And then, of course when I tell people I grew
up in Ohio, everybody has like a slight. But Detroit
was the biggest city, the biggest big city closest to
where I.

Speaker 12 (40:41):
Grew up, and so I grew up on the Pistons.

Speaker 18 (40:43):
Had a life sized poster of Isaiah Thomas on my wall.
I appreciate you saying that I'm youthful. I'm youthful in
terms of with respect to George because yeah, he's got
me beaten in years. But I do remember the bad
Boys years, and those were kind of the former years
of my life. And then when I was in college,
they going to work guys. So I have always been

(41:06):
behind the Pistons. I saw Grant Hill last night, like
that was my guy in ninety four. I mean that
was my guy. Uh So when I first got here
in twenty fifteen, I moved here from Kansas City and
it was an opportunity I wasn't necessarily coming home.

Speaker 12 (41:22):
You know, that wasn't my target.

Speaker 18 (41:24):
But when the opportunity presented itself and they said you'd
have an opportunity to cover the Pistons, Tigers and Wings,
and I thought, man, you know, and I called my
mom and dad and I said, you know, this feels right.
And so to be able to get there and then
and then to work with George for those first couple
of years because he's you know, we have we've had
some turnover as far as sideline reporting goes, and it's
tough to carve your space out, you know, in any profession.

(41:46):
But to get longevity and doing the job and then
several years in it, it took, you know, it took
a minute. But then, as George has given different people
monikers over the years, he started calling me smooth Johnny
on the air, and which I don't think I'm that smooth.
When I'm doing my broadcast, you guys probably hear me.
You know, I stumbled through my stuff as much as anybody.
But I remember one of our producers he said, hey, man,

(42:08):
you're in. I was like, what do you mean? He said,
if you've gotten a nickname from.

Speaker 12 (42:11):
George, you're okay. So we've gone with it now.

Speaker 18 (42:15):
A lot of people when they yell out my name,
they always say, hey, smooth, you know, and hey, so
I give I give Georgie all the credit for that.

Speaker 9 (42:21):
A lot of people on the chat here on YouTube
Johnny are throwing it out smooth, Johnny's smooth, Johnny's yeah, yeah,
we appreciate you. May Did you get a chance to
meet my idol, Walt Frasier And I know Walt does
the radio with Mike Breen, but Mike Breen obviously on
ESPN this time. What's your take on seeing Clyde?

Speaker 12 (42:41):
Oh my gosh, Yeah, that's one of them. And they
had all the guys in the house last night.

Speaker 18 (42:46):
You know, Fraser would have been just before like my
time of actually watching. But I remember I rode the
elevator with him one time, and you know, you're just
standing like you want to talk about Aura.

Speaker 12 (42:55):
He has it in aces.

Speaker 18 (42:57):
So Clyde was amazing, as I'll spree well night. John
Starks was in the building. I shook hands with Patrick
Ewing for the first time yesterday, which was wild to me.
So yeah, Clyde's the best man and Mike Breen in
my opinion, so like last night, just you know, you
try not to geek out when you're around no Royalty,
but even in broadcasting, Mike Breen and I and Eagle

(43:17):
are two of my absolute favorite humans, and they're both
in the building last night. We're all, you know, standing,
you know, standing there chopping it up, and it's like,
it's just wild man, just to be a part of
that whole scene. And then and then there's Clyde. It's like, man,
this guy, you know he's.

Speaker 8 (43:32):
A one to one.

Speaker 5 (43:32):
You know, he sure is.

Speaker 9 (43:34):
Man, you're lucked out, Man, you lucked out.

Speaker 6 (43:36):
Let's get to some x's and o's in this game. Obviously,
you know, we love the broadcast end of it. But
the Pistons, the Pistons. The Pistons, they made their adjustments
in game two. We were talking before you were on
what type of adjustments do you think the Knicks could
make in Game three besides relying on the officials for
more fouls.

Speaker 18 (43:56):
Yeah, great question, And that's what I think they're going
to be up against, because look, they played eight quarters
of basketball and you can say the Pistons have won
six of those quarters, and if you go to the
regular season matchups they've won, you know, including the playoffs,
they've won what six of eight matchups, you know, so
this was a favorable matchup for three to six as

(44:17):
far as seating is concerned, not every you know, but yeah,
styles make fights, and the Pistons the way that they play,
and because of the depth, even though they're only going
about eight deep, they're not playing a bunch of bench
minutes so far in this series. And obviously that's the
one detriment to New York is when they do go
to their bench, they don't play a lot of minutes.
So Campaign picked up the three files early last night,

(44:40):
and he was obviously a big contributor in game one.
O Giananobi was fabulous in game one, you know, less
of an impact in game two. So they are relying
upon Karl, Anthony Towns and Jalen Bronson for sure. What
I saw the Pistons make the adjustment like with Cade,
remember he had twelve assists in game one and they
were doubling him and they're consciously trying to force him

(45:03):
to his left and he can go left obviously, but
that was you know, the play was well, Doublin will
force him to the week's side and then he didn't
have to facilitate that much. He was able to get
to where he wanted to go and then utilize his
mid range game. And that's like, that's the like, that's
the adjustment where it's like, okay, wait a minute. So
now if you thought you had Kid wrapped up and

(45:25):
it was like, let's make somebody else beat us, and
then Kate comes back in game two, makes the adjustments
and gets to his spots.

Speaker 12 (45:30):
Again, it's like, oh crap, now we got to go
back to the drawing board. You know what are we
going to do?

Speaker 18 (45:35):
I thought the way they defended Kat as far as
like putting Tobias Harris, who's giving up size, but to
hold him to ten points like that was big, you
know what I mean, Like it's as Malik Beasley said,
he said, it's chest not checkers, my boy.

Speaker 12 (45:49):
I said, yeah, I know.

Speaker 18 (45:51):
And it was like the Pistons seem to make those
adjustments and obviously the Knicks will.

Speaker 12 (45:54):
Have to come up with something.

Speaker 18 (45:56):
But I think once you create the element of doubt
in your opponent, whether you're in an octagon, whether you're
on a football field or a basketball floor, whatever, once
you proved to your opponent that Hey, I've got you
figured out. Once you create that level, I think all
bets are off. And I think the Pistons right now,
you did what you needed to do. So you basically

(46:18):
have two opportunities to win one, so you steal home court.
Now you went and split. You could have won game one,
you didn't, but you still split. And now if you
take care of business on your home floor over these
final you know, four game, five games, you know you're
gonna you're gonna be moving out of the next round.
So I really like the position that the Pistons are in.
It'll be I'll be interested to see what and if

(46:41):
the Knicks can figure out some type of solution to
make an adjustment that would give them the edge in
this series.

Speaker 8 (46:47):
Smooth. I want to stick with Brunson and Cat.

Speaker 7 (46:50):
I felt that if this series went six or seven,
that it favors this youthful, energetic Detroit Pistons team.

Speaker 8 (46:58):
Were they as.

Speaker 7 (46:59):
Gassed in person as what we saw on TV last night,
because Brunson gave it everything that he had, but he
looked tired, can looked tired in the first quarter.

Speaker 8 (47:09):
What did you see?

Speaker 18 (47:09):
Yeah, yeah, somebody asked me that too. Somebody said, Hey,
does it to you know, does it seem to you
that these guys are guessed? I don't know that I
saw it as it wasn't. You know, sometimes you can
just pick up on it's like, yep, these guys are cooked.

Speaker 12 (47:23):
I didn't see it like that at floor level.

Speaker 18 (47:27):
But then in the production, I'm obviously you can look
at the production and say, yeah, that obviously had to
have been a factor.

Speaker 12 (47:32):
But that's that's the thing.

Speaker 9 (47:34):
I think.

Speaker 18 (47:34):
The deeper this series goes, whether it was in the
first quarter or whether it was in game two, The
deeper this series go when you goes when you look
at the minutes those guys have played and the way
that the Pistons defend because they you do feel them
like you do feel them whoever's garden you And Brunston's
picking himself up off the floor nearly every time he

(47:55):
touches the ball.

Speaker 12 (47:55):
That does wear on you.

Speaker 18 (47:57):
And so you know, it's like using body blows when
you step into the ring. You know, eventually, when you
get into the championship rounds, that's when you start to
see it. So we'll see obviously a couple of days
of rest in between Games two and three, but I
do think as far from a freshness standpoint, I like
the Pistons.

Speaker 9 (48:14):
Hey, Johnny, last one before we let you go. We
appreciate your time. But last night you were talking to
Greg and of course to Georgia, and you mentioned something
about Paul Rudd, and I said, it was a different story.
You couldn't tell it right then and there, but I
want to hear.

Speaker 5 (48:28):
The Paul story. We're on the singer, John What.

Speaker 8 (48:31):
Do you out for me?

Speaker 14 (48:32):
Yeah?

Speaker 18 (48:33):
No, so, so I mentioned I moved to Detroit from
Kansas City and the Royals were in the American League
wild card game against against the A's.

Speaker 12 (48:45):
Back in twenty fourteen, and our producer.

Speaker 18 (48:47):
Said, it was you know, it's like a melee at
the end of the game, you know how that is
where they say go grab somebody. So you just see
all these people out on and like you see some
recognizable faces, but there's you know, there's hundreds of people
that are on the on the ball field and the
Royals just completed this epic comeback against John Lester in
the A's And anyway, so I see Paul Rudd and

(49:09):
I said, okay, I got him.

Speaker 12 (49:10):
So I walk over to him and.

Speaker 18 (49:11):
There's a lot of people that were on the field
that you know, people were trying to request interviews. I said, hey,
would you mind doing a couple minutes, a couple of
minutes with me?

Speaker 12 (49:17):
He said sure.

Speaker 18 (49:19):
So we do our interview, and it was like live
to tape, right, so we would cut it and then
they'd feed it right back to the studio and run
it a few minutes later.

Speaker 12 (49:27):
And toward the end of the interview, I just.

Speaker 18 (49:29):
Said, okay, Paul Rudd, I said, you don't have to
say specifically, but what are your plans tonight?

Speaker 12 (49:35):
How are you going to celebrate?

Speaker 18 (49:37):
And he says a party at my mom's house. He says,
We're having a party Keger at my mom's and so
we're just laughing, and then he says, I said, okay,
Royals fans, you got itger at Paul Rudd's mom's house.

Speaker 12 (49:49):
And then he jumps back, He jumps back.

Speaker 18 (49:52):
Into the mic and he says five dollars cover right, laugh,
And it was just this moment. Well, Paul's mom lives
in Kansas City, as did Paul, so people.

Speaker 12 (50:01):
End up showing up at his mom's house like later that.

Speaker 18 (50:03):
Night, and because they found out where he had lived anyway,
they ended up like making t shirts on the whole deal.
It said keger at my mom's house, and it just
became this little viral moment in Kansas City. And then
someone from Detroit saw the clip and then they initially
reached out. And it was that clip of my interview
with Paul Rudd that ultimately led to me getting an

(50:24):
interview to cover the Pistons, tigers and wings.

Speaker 9 (50:28):
That's why you're smooth, That's why you're smoothed.

Speaker 18 (50:34):
I wanted to tell Paul Rudd last night, man, I said, Hey,
you have no idea, but because of your humor and
your you know, your comedic genius about the keg at
your mom's that landed me on my dream job in Detroit.

Speaker 9 (50:44):
That's awesome. Man, Hey, you should talk to Paul again.
Let them get you into movies. John, You're ready, ready?

Speaker 12 (50:51):
Yeah, there you go.

Speaker 5 (50:52):

Speaker 5 (51:22):

Speaker 6 (51:24):
And you know, like one of my biggest complaints about
broadcasters sometimes.

Speaker 5 (51:28):
Is that they're they're just not excited as I am
to watch the game.

Speaker 6 (51:32):
That is one thing you cannot say about mister Johnny
Can when he's calling a basketball game.

Speaker 5 (51:36):
That man is exciting it. And you can see why
if Breen.

Speaker 6 (51:39):
Is one of the guys that he likes and looks
up to, brings the same way.

Speaker 9 (51:43):
So NBA on NBC, hat he's ready. NBC is getting
the NBA back.

Speaker 9 (58:45):
We went to the break and by the way, Russell
Browns joins us, one of our favorite scouts. Of course.
The draft just a couple of days away in Green Bay.
That's right, guys, we're two days away. From the Draft
and Green Bay. So we'll find out once you get
Russ back on here. But you talked about Jamison Williams.
His name is in it's been in the news. Maybe
it's us who's putting it in the news media people.

Speaker 6 (59:07):
It started with a dude from Pride of Detroit, right,
he brought it up, and then it kind of caught
fire and now it's almost coming to fruition. Is you
see Jamo with some subtweets here which his instagram?

Speaker 9 (59:23):
What is his Instagram?

Speaker 8 (59:24):
Read?

Speaker 7 (59:25):
It look like John text to me, it just looks
like you guy in his feelings.

Speaker 5 (59:32):
But what's seeing his feelings about? That's the question.

Speaker 8 (59:35):
Well, that's the thing is he's not listened.

Speaker 9 (59:36):
The loyalty before any and everything. Two hearts on fire,
stay sucker free, he.

Speaker 5 (59:45):
Guaranteed remembers it does sound like you.

Speaker 6 (59:50):
But if your employer is going behind your back and
shopping your rights, it's kind of like getting cheated up.

Speaker 8 (59:57):
That generation is so different from our generation.

Speaker 7 (01:00:00):
They grew up with social media kind of creating their
their value system. Did I get enough likes, did I
get enough views? Did I get enough comments? And so
these these young people, they wear their emotion on their
social media, and if you're sitting there and you're not

(01:00:20):
getting any feedback from the team, from the administration over there,
you're just left to look at Twitter and to see
all these fans talking about it and worrying and wondering,
and what do you do. Maybe you have a couple
of pops late at night after the Pistons game and
it becomes too much and you just throw it out there.
I'm trying to think of what the equivalent is of people,

(01:00:42):
you know, rage posting on Twitter to what we would
do when we were that age, when we were mad
about something.

Speaker 8 (01:00:49):
Didn't we just call.

Speaker 20 (01:00:50):
You, prank call you. These poor kids they just understand.

Speaker 5 (01:01:02):
So here's the deal.

Speaker 6 (01:01:03):
Does anybody know if Jamo ever followed the Lions like
I never kept And I'm hearing mixed signals. It's being
reported multiple ways in the chat, but also Jamo posting
that we can at least agree on he may or
may not have followed them at any point, but posting
that stuff along with the yeah, it's an interesting thing.

(01:01:23):
Let's bring in Russell Brown.

Speaker 9 (01:01:25):
A couple of quick chats here Steve Layman ten bucks.
He says, I just can't be burned on the wheel
competition and Michael Warry. Why does everyone thing Jamo's being traded?
He never followed the Lions fan page. Brad would never
trade a young player of his caliber unless it was
that deal. Relaxed family, Michael Warry, So we got some

(01:01:45):
action well as as we go to.

Speaker 6 (01:01:48):
Yeah, man, this goes back to what I said yesterday though,
no matter what Brad Holmes does, I'm comfortable with it.
If he decides to trade Jamo. Guess what Brad knew
what the hell he was doing?

Speaker 5 (01:01:58):
Russell Brown can confirm that Brad knows.

Speaker 6 (01:02:01):
What he's been doing during these drafts because he's our
draft expert.

Speaker 9 (01:02:04):
Hereports well, Lion's Wire.

Speaker 5 (01:02:07):
What's up, Russell? How you doing today? Man?

Speaker 21 (01:02:09):
I'm doing good.

Speaker 9 (01:02:10):
How are you guys really waking time?

Speaker 5 (01:02:13):
Man?

Speaker 9 (01:02:14):
As you want to lead it off, I do, Russ Man,
this is your time of the year. This is your
time of the year, man, two days away. If I
throw a couple of if I just want to throw
a couple of things out at you. First of all,
what are the latest rumors you are hearing about this draft?

Speaker 22 (01:02:31):
Well, I mean there's a lot of speculation today that
there's gonna be a lot of activity, a lot of
trades happening.

Speaker 21 (01:02:36):
I don't necessarily believe that's going to be the case.

Speaker 22 (01:02:39):
I'm sure there's going to be you know, a handful
two or three, but I don't see a ton of
movement where you know, New Orleans moving out of nine,
Carolina's moving out of eight, Pittsburgh's moving out of twenty one.
Like these are all examples that have been kind of
passed on over the last twenty four to forty eight hours.
Right now that the hot rumor is that Cleveland is
going to possible we move number two or the Giants

(01:03:01):
are gonna move number three, I don't see that being
the case. I think Cleveland is set on Travis Hunter.
I heard that at the Senior Bowl, and I'm kind
of sticking to that through the process. And with the Giants,
I think, you know, they may want to try to
bait a team in believing that they're either gonna take
Shad or Sanders or Abdull Carter to try to get
somebody to come up to three. Maybe they can get
some extra capital and maybe somehow find a way to

(01:03:23):
get two picks in the first round.

Speaker 21 (01:03:25):
But the way I see it they're gonna stay put
at three.

Speaker 22 (01:03:27):
And I don't know if the Giants are taking Abdul Carter,
Shad or Sanders, but I think they're gonna be stuck
between one or two of those guys.

Speaker 9 (01:03:36):
Hey Russ on the Lions, do you see them sitting
at twenty eight and taking best player available? Or do
you see Brad Holmes if he starts looking and you know,
a couple of years ago he moved up twenty spots
to get Jamo, do you think he moves up in
this draft at all?

Speaker 21 (01:03:54):
I think it's possible.

Speaker 22 (01:03:55):
I think if he was to look at Pittsburgh at
twenty one, We've seen him do business with Minnesota in
the past, and a soda sitting there at twenty one
or twenty four. Excuse me, They're a team that they've
they've only got four picks in this draft, and they've
got plenty of needs and depth that they've got to
add to their rosters. So I could see a scenario
where he does business at twenty eight moves up to
twenty four. Now, I don't necessarily know exactly what he

(01:04:17):
would have to give up. He would definitely have to
give up a Day two pick. Whether that's you know,
pick sixty or one oh two, But I think he
might be willing to part with that if he knew
he was getting one of his guys. And I would
have to assume one of the guys highest on their
board is probably Derek Harmon out of Oregon.

Speaker 21 (01:04:35):
He just fits.

Speaker 22 (01:04:36):
He fits what they're looking for on the defensive line.
He's versatile. He can play as a four eye, he
can play as a three, he can bump out to
a five. He's very disruptive and he's really starting to
come into his own. But he's also got the size
and the length that you're looking for at the position.
So I think he would be a player that they
would be willing to trade up for. And I know
the sexy pick is moving up for a receiver. I

(01:04:58):
think if they were twenty four would do it. They
would want to get in front of Houston at twenty five,
and they would want to try to get a Mecca.

Speaker 21 (01:05:05):
A Bouquet out of Ohio State.

Speaker 22 (01:05:07):
I've been pushing for Luther Burden for a long time,
but if a Mecca a Bouquet was there, he's my
number one wide receiver, my tenth overall player in this draft,
and I think the Lions is as far as just character,
high football caliber player, a Mecca, A Bouquet would be
a player that would be a little sexy if they
wanted to get past twenty four, maybe twenty one, somewhere
up in that range.

Speaker 8 (01:05:26):
I love that.

Speaker 7 (01:05:28):
I love both of those players. Harmon is something a
guy that.

Speaker 5 (01:05:31):
I really think gimmick Derek Harmon.

Speaker 8 (01:05:34):
Yeah, firmly on their board.

Speaker 7 (01:05:36):
You kind of answered my question a little bit in
terms of going for a wide receiver because everybody here
in Detroit is obsessed with an edge rusher, whether it
was trading for Miles or signing drafting one, signing one
during the offseason. Is there a non defensive player or
a non receiver that you see that could really end

(01:05:58):
up any Detroit Lions uniform this weekend?

Speaker 22 (01:06:02):
Well, I look at Donovan Jackson out of Ohio State.
I think he could be in play at twenty eight.
I know that might sound a little rich for folks,
but you know, he's a player that I put in
high regard and I love the hybrid, the versatile skill
set that he has. That that hybrid ability of being
able to play guard or tackle. And he finished thirty

(01:06:22):
sixth on my board, so I don't think that's necessarily
a huge reach. He really locked down that left tackle
spot and was a big part to why Ohio State
won a national championship. I think he's got a thick frame,
He's able to anchor and play with power, So I
think that that would be a sneaky pick at twenty eight,
or even if they were to, let's say move back
to maybe thirty four with the Giants. If the Giants

(01:06:43):
wanted to move up for a quarterback, they could take
him possibly at thirty four if he was there. Obviously
he would have to get past Kansas City, the Philadelphia Eagles,
maybe even Cleveland at thirty three if they stayed put there,
but Donovan Jackson would be a player that would make
a lot of sense. And then just going a little
bit deeper, this guy really is like a Dan Campbell,

(01:07:04):
but really a Brad Holmes type clone for what he's
looking for with players, and that's Charles Grant out of
William and Mary. He's probably more of a third or
fourth round pick at this point, but six five three
eleven almost thirty five inch arms, He's made a bunch
of starts at William and Mary at left tackle, and
he's a player that I think may play guard in

(01:07:24):
the NFL. But there's a lot of love for him
for what he's able to do with just his footwork,
the control, the base that he plays with, and the
arm length. So I think teams are gonna be really
intrigued with Charles Grant, and I could see the Lions
who have done some homework on him. I would maybe
bet that they would consider him possibly at one oh
two or maybe a small trade back out of sixty.

Speaker 6 (01:07:44):
Russell Brown joining us NFL draft analysts. Russell Brown, all right,
you've heard the JMO rumors. You mentioned a wide receiver
that they could trade up to get.

Speaker 5 (01:07:53):
I want to focus on the teams.

Speaker 6 (01:07:55):
That they could be trading with to get that, because
here's the deal, Jamo. You still got him for two
years essentially, right, and if you don't sign him after
the two years and he walks, you get a third
round pick back. So you're at least looking for a
second or a first round pick for Jamison Williams. Which
teams would be willing to give that up to the
Detroit Lions for him?

Speaker 22 (01:08:17):
Man, I don't know if any team would be willing
to give up a first round pick just because of
some of the uncertainty. When you look at teams, you know,
on Day two of the draft, with a lot of
you know, second round capital, just really throughout the entire
portion of the draft with a bunch of picks. You
look at San Francisco, They've got eleven picks. I know,
trading to San Francisco is probably not ideal, but you know,

(01:08:39):
you look at what they have.

Speaker 21 (01:08:40):
They've got pick forty three, they've got pick eleven.

Speaker 22 (01:08:42):
I doubt you get pick eleven, but they've also got
seventy five and one hundred. So maybe you can package
something and maybe get two of those picks. Maybe it's
two third round picks, and is that enough for you
to pull the trigger. But I'll be honestly, I don't
see them trading him just simply because I think they
like him. I think Dan Campbell likes him. I think
the locker room really likes him. And I know there's uncertainty,

(01:09:03):
and you've got a contract extension waiting in the wings,
but like your point, they've got two years to kind
of figure this thing out. Don't force your hand on
the weekend of the draft to trade him. When you
have some uncertainty with players in this draft, whether it
is Luther Burden or a Mecca Abuque or Matthew Golden
or whoever the case may be. At wide receiver, there's
always some uncertainty. You know what you're getting out of

(01:09:24):
Jamison Williams in your offense, and he's been a mainstay
in the last two years, and he really emerged this
past year. So I would be a little surprised if
they moved him, But crazier things have definitely happened.

Speaker 7 (01:09:34):
Russell on the heels of a historic QB class coming
out of the draft last year. A lot of people
are talking about Shador and cam Ward. Jackson Dart is
a guy that's very intriguing to me. I'm curious what
your feelings are on him, and if the Saints.

Speaker 8 (01:09:52):
Hold on to that number nine pick, would it be a.

Speaker 7 (01:09:55):
Reach to keep that guy in the South playing for
the Saints with that nine pick.

Speaker 21 (01:10:01):
It should be a great fit.

Speaker 22 (01:10:02):
I think Kellen Moore would know how to utilize Jackson
Dart and get the most out of his skill set
and get the most potential out of him.

Speaker 21 (01:10:09):
I mean, he is my.

Speaker 22 (01:10:10):
QB three, my thirty fourth overall player. I think there's
much to be desired with his mobility. I think he's
got plenty of arm strength throws with plenty of velocity.
He can win in the short and intermediate areas of
the field with how he throws the football and how
he attacks it. My biggest problem with Jackson Dart is
he takes too long to work from one read to
the next. He'll force a defender to like buzz down

(01:10:32):
or allow a linebacker to get depth as a midhook
defender or getting the hook curl zones, and that's going
to cause problems in the NFL when the speed of
the game is definitely going to be going at the
fastest pace he's ever seen. So he needs a little
bit of work. But I think New Orleans is definitely
in play at nine. But the way it sounds up
to this point, it doesn't necessarily sound like they're going

(01:10:53):
to be taking a quarterback at nine. I think they're
more comfortable with the quarterbacks that pick forty and possibly
a small move up from pick forty in the second
round to maybe you know, take forty and seventy one
and move up into you know, pick thirty five, pick
thirty three range if Cleveland doesn't trade back in into
the first round. So they've got plenty of draft capitol

(01:11:13):
in New Orleans, They've got plenty of needs. I just
don't know if you would necessarily be the guy at nine,
because up to this point we've heard a lot about
defensive line and offensive tackles for the Saints at.

Speaker 6 (01:11:21):
Nine, Russell Brown joining us. I like to do the
wild cards of this. I know, obviously the Lions drafted
a running back last year in see Ombaki. But one
of the wild cards that when I saw him play
last year, I thought, my god, that is a Dan Campbell,
Brad Holmes, Chris Spielman guy, and that is Cam Scatabo.

(01:11:42):
Are you hearing any buzz that they got a hymn
on the radar?

Speaker 8 (01:11:46):
Yeah?

Speaker 21 (01:11:47):
I mean they've met with them.

Speaker 22 (01:11:48):
I've joked on New Year's Day when he was playing
and you know, was playing through that illness that he had.
I kind of joked like, yeah, he's playing for Jim Harbaugh,
where he's playing for Dan Campbell.

Speaker 14 (01:11:59):
I know.

Speaker 22 (01:12:00):
I mean, it sounds like it's pretty ice cold with him.
As far as what teams think he can be. I
think they think there's a lot of limitations with long speed.
Teams are worried about the contact that he absorbs in
the amount of times. I mean, he's searching for contact.
He's not the type of player that's trying to evade
it all the time. So I think the Lions would
be definitely intrigued somewhere on Day three if they found

(01:12:20):
the sweet spot and maybe they got two or three
impact players, you know, in this draft. Maybe they can
roll the dice. They can bring him in as a
special teams guy. Maybe he's a short area, short yardage guy,
short area kind of guy. If they don't feel like
Sion Vaki's gonna be that guy permanently down the road.
But I just I don't see it happening. I think
the Lions have plenty of needs on defense. We've talked

(01:12:43):
about the offensive line in receiver positions enough. I don't
know if they would necessarily take a running back at
any point in this draft.

Speaker 9 (01:12:49):
Right now, Russ Jalen Milroe is starting to get a
lot of action across the league, NFL coaches and scouts
they have read I read today that someone has compared
him to Michael Vick, and I know he doesn't thrown
the ball like Michael Vick, but I know he could
run the ball like Michael Vick. Where's Jalen Milroll gonna go.
I have a hunch he's gonna get in the first

(01:13:11):
round somewhere.

Speaker 21 (01:13:13):
It wouldn't surprise me.

Speaker 22 (01:13:15):
I mean, I've heard a lot of positive talk in
regards to to what Milroe provides as a quarterback. Teams
love the character. He's the type of guy has been
described to me. He moves the room when he walks in.
People love his off the field stuff. As far as
his parents were a military family, the way he was raised,
he's very like yes, sir, no, sir, has his head
on his shoulders. He won the Academic Heisman in FBS

(01:13:38):
this past year, so there's a lot of praise for
what he can do off the field and in the
locker room, in the community and that type of stuff.
I think a team maybe in the back end, would
be willing to trade up and try to get him,
just because I don't think he's gonna, you know, last
too far into day two. I think maybe the Pittsburgh
Steelers at twenty one would be intrigued enough to take him.

Speaker 21 (01:13:58):
Certainly Cleveland at thirty three.

Speaker 22 (01:13:59):
At think they would love to have him at at
pick thirty three if they could.

Speaker 21 (01:14:03):
Again, a small trade up might be what they have
to do.

Speaker 22 (01:14:05):
I don't know if a lot of people know this,
but he played for Tommy Reese at Alabama in twenty
twenty three. Tommy Reese is the offensive coordinator in Cleveland,
so they're familiar with each other. And just when you
watch Jalen Milroe you mentioned Mike Vick, There's so much
to love with his skill set. He's maybe the best
athlete in the draft. He's dangerous with the football. Five
label him as a as a weapon right Like we
have always talked about Brian Dawkins being weapon X on defense.

(01:14:28):
We might have a weapon X here on offense with
Jylen Milroll because he can just he's so dynamic and
I think he could play right away in those quarterback
packages that teams like to do.

Speaker 9 (01:14:38):
Last one Ross Lions. What would shock you the most
what the Lions would do in the first round.

Speaker 22 (01:14:46):
Honestly, if they took a corner, taking another defensive back
would be a little surprising.

Speaker 21 (01:14:51):
I don't think you know a safety. I don't think
that's out of.

Speaker 9 (01:14:54):
The realm of possibility.

Speaker 22 (01:14:55):
But if they if they were to take a corner
like a Trey amos So Benjamin Morrison from Notre Dame
a chevon Revel, if they were to pull the trigger
on one of those guys, I would be a little surprised.

Speaker 21 (01:15:05):
Just because of how they've built this roster.

Speaker 22 (01:15:09):
They've put so much around the defensive backfield and getting
corners in here, and I think they've got a lot
of high hopes obviously for Terry on Arnold and nice Rachstrass.
So I would be a little surprised if they took
that at twenty eight or even at sixty.

Speaker 9 (01:15:20):
Do you think that means that if they did take
a safety that Brian Branch or Kirby Joseph would be
no longer with this team.

Speaker 22 (01:15:28):
No, I don't think so. I think they value having
three safeties. They need safety depth. There's not much there,
and I think this is a football team that can
do a variety of things with having a Brian Branch
and if just hypothetical, I don't think he's going to
be there. But the dream scenario number four player on
my board, Malachi Starks, if he was the pick at
twenty eight I mean, shirts are coming off, we're celebrating,

(01:15:49):
we're excited, and it's one of those things.

Speaker 21 (01:15:52):
But I don't see that being the case.

Speaker 22 (01:15:54):
But I think they want a guy that they can
move around as kind of like a chess piece in
the back end of their secondary. Maybe twenty eight's a
little but if they took it at sixty, maybe Andrew
mccouba from Texas, I don't think that would be crazy
at all.

Speaker 9 (01:16:06):
Russ, thanks so much, man, appreciate your Russ.

Speaker 5 (01:16:07):
What are you doing for the draft? Where are you
gonna be at Russ?

Speaker 22 (01:16:11):
Uh, we'll be I'll be live on Fantasy Was for
you know, first half of the draft that I'll be
jumping on the Detroit Lions podcast, hosting our draft party
there on YouTube. Uh, just doing a bunch of stuff,
you know. It's I'll be on VSAN before the draft.
I'm jumping off here, getting on another radio spot in
a few minutes. So there's a lot of moving parts
for me. But no better time of the year.

Speaker 9 (01:16:32):
Brett Musburger for us. I will nice job, Russ, Russell
Brown think your buddy appreciate you, man, I love that kid.

Speaker 5 (01:16:41):
Yeah, lots of stuff going on, man, him.

Speaker 6 (01:16:43):
It's him and Bishoffshoff their things.

Speaker 5 (01:16:48):
They do the homework so we don't have to.

Speaker 9 (01:16:50):
I'll tell you, man, well pissed. The only thing that
really pissed me off about the Lions off season it's
they let if the Mela fun will go and he's like,
you need an extra safety, you need an extra corner,
you need an extra linebacker. Well, this freaking guy played
all of those positions and they let him go to
Miami for like three million dollars. And I know, you
know you gotta be on the field. Sure, but how

(01:17:12):
many other freaking injured guys today keep and they don't
keep Iffy to me, I think that's gonna come back
and bite him.

Speaker 6 (01:17:19):
I do well, whatever Malmes decides to do, I don't
I agree with I'm blind, Brad Cook.

Speaker 8 (01:17:25):
I'm blind.

Speaker 9 (01:17:26):
I'm Brad Cook.

Speaker 5 (01:17:28):
Leave me wherever you want, Brad, I trust you boys.

Speaker 7 (01:17:30):
As great as Malafana was in the twenty twenty three playoffs,
I don't believe that he's ever been really loved.

Speaker 8 (01:17:37):
In the clubhouse.

Speaker 7 (01:17:38):
Why yeah, I've gotten that from my insider, and I
believe that that's why we didn't see a lot of
him on the field. Last year spite his great run
at the end of twenty twenty three. And I believe
it's why they're letting him walk. I'll be dead because, yeah,
because they let him off with like nothing. Yeah, that
would make sense to me, shout out middle age sneaker chick.

(01:17:59):
Yeah he's trying to luck again. Yes, yesterday, Sterday got
in today as well.

Speaker 8 (01:18:03):
Anson.

Speaker 7 (01:18:04):
How long before my Carmelo rookie card is worth something, well,
sneaker chick. I would need to see exactly what Carmelo
card that is, But Carmelo's got some value.

Speaker 19 (01:18:15):
Yeah, all right, we have an updated whee would everybody
likes to see what it currently stands?

Speaker 5 (01:18:22):
Wheel?

Speaker 15 (01:18:22):
So once again, who's that.

Speaker 8 (01:18:25):
Handsome guy in the mill?

Speaker 5 (01:18:27):
Look at that.

Speaker 8 (01:18:27):
That's a crazy maniac. But listen, you get in with a.

Speaker 7 (01:18:31):
Super chat of at least two ninety nine and you're
gonna get a slice of the pie.

Speaker 8 (01:18:34):
You're gonna get yourself on that wheel.

Speaker 7 (01:18:35):
And once again we've got a rip Hamilton going to
work Arab bobblehead. Along with the stack of Detroit Ish
sports cards. You're gonna get yourself a Brayln Edwards signed
rookie cards. Some Woodwards sports stuff, and of course that
v frind series two cards. So you got until about
three fifties. You got thirty minutes, and we'll be running

(01:18:57):
that wheel at three fifty five in a little wrinkled today. Pete,
whoever has the most pieces of the pie, gets to
choose how many times we shuffle the wheel before we spin.

Speaker 11 (01:19:08):
Oh okay, well you mean how many spins? Hey, hey,
you mean how many spins?

Speaker 19 (01:19:13):
I can't shuffle it, but I could do like a
couple spins if you want, you should be able to
shuffle it.

Speaker 11 (01:19:17):
I can't shuffle it, my friend.

Speaker 9 (01:19:18):
Okay, Hey, did you guys get a chance to look
at the Lion's new locker room in there Allen Park Headquarters. Yeah,
we did.

Speaker 5 (01:19:26):
I gotta dress something in the chat. When we come back,
we're gonna take a break. Sounds good, Terrelle. I thought
I thought we had squashed our beef. I thought we
were on the same page. I thought we were on
the same team. And then you go and do something
like this.

Speaker 6 (01:19:44):
Me and Charrell had an issue during the Lions season
where Golf had a bad game and was Charrell do
jumps all over JA or goff right?

Speaker 5 (01:19:51):
One bad game? I say just now that I'm blind
for Brad Holmes, what does Charrell do?

Speaker 6 (01:19:58):
He gets his Twitter fingers all up in a bunch,
he hops in the chat and says, stick, how can
you be blind for anyone in this organization?

Speaker 5 (01:20:06):
Did I miss the parade? No, you didn't miss the parade.

Speaker 6 (01:20:10):
But apparently what you did miss was an appearance in
an NFC championship game. Apparently what you did miss was
two home playoff games that we won. Apparently what you
did miss was a fifteen to two season.

Speaker 5 (01:20:21):
Apparently what you.

Speaker 6 (01:20:22):
Did miss was a first round by Apparently what you
did miss was everything we have never seen in this
franchise in fifty some odd years.

Speaker 5 (01:20:30):
So yeah, the guy that took.

Speaker 6 (01:20:32):
Us there, I'm gonna trust and if you have a
problem with it, I'm sorry.

Speaker 5 (01:20:37):
Like, what more does Brad Holmes have to It has
to be a super Bowl or Brad Holmes didn't do
a good job here? Is that the measure is that
where and you know what?

Speaker 14 (01:20:46):
You know what?

Speaker 5 (01:20:47):
Wait wait wait wait wait wait no, if that if
that's where.

Speaker 6 (01:20:51):
We're at as the Detroit Lions organization, that the Super
Bowl is now our measure?

Speaker 5 (01:20:56):
Do you know the man who put us in this
position to put it where that is our measure. Brad Holmes,
the only reason you're thinking super Bowl is Brad Holmes. Bradholmes, Bradholmes,
your daddy, so believe in it.

Speaker 13 (01:21:11):
And this is this is the ignorance that I just
hate out of these Lions fans like you, What more
do you need?

Speaker 5 (01:21:18):
One more?

Speaker 12 (01:21:19):
Easy said?

Speaker 9 (01:21:19):
You want to trade kid?

Speaker 5 (01:21:21):
God, don't get me started on that.

Speaker 8 (01:21:26):
The conversation was had, conversation has been had.

Speaker 6 (01:21:30):
No here for everybody wants a backstory on the Caid conversation.
Before the season, the argument was who would you trade
Ivy or Caid? Here was my argument, Maz Caid. Cunningham
is your best player. He has the most value. You
will get the most in return. The Pistons have had

(01:21:51):
a history of trading their best player and getting ultimate
value in return. I pointed to Jerry Stackhouse, I pointed
to Grant Hill. We were all shocked when they left.
They were the heart and soul of those teams.

Speaker 5 (01:22:04):
And you know what happened. You didn't get a single.

Speaker 6 (01:22:07):
Player back that matched those two, But you got a
Ben Wallace and a Chucky Atkins that helped.

Speaker 5 (01:22:12):
You build towards a champions.

Speaker 14 (01:22:14):
Ok.

Speaker 5 (01:22:14):
So this is like like you can hold me to
the fire for that opinion. I have history on my
side to prove that it was a successful strategy. In red,
white and blue Piston uniform.

Speaker 8 (01:22:25):
I went to jail for chucky ikins. I go to jail,
fer want me some money, pal.

Speaker 9 (01:22:30):
Hey, we've got during your screen fest, we got We've got.

Speaker 5 (01:22:34):
That's compassion, man.

Speaker 9 (01:22:35):
We're not used to it screenfest anyway. We got a
lot in the super chat. Let's start off with Burn.
Five bucks card sellings about timing. Last year I was
selling Vijon and c J stround rookies handover fist. Carmelo
would get a bup if he gets in the Hall
of Fame.

Speaker 8 (01:22:51):
All about timing Burn.

Speaker 9 (01:22:52):
You know, Michael Weary, people left, Brad Cook that's all.
That's a good day, that's it. And Jason Kenya with
a twenty spot. I don't like the Jmo story. He
was injured when we drafted him, suspended more than once.
How do we invest so much on him and trade
him for a draft number not his level? Jamo should
be thankful, yes, fifty year less, Yes, Jamo belongs. In

(01:23:15):
other words, he's like we ain't trading Jamo. That's how
I can debunk that story.

Speaker 8 (01:23:21):
It's not this season. It would happen next year because
don't get.

Speaker 9 (01:23:26):
In this draft. He will not He's not getting think
no one's getting traded during this draft. Nobody the team
is ready.

Speaker 6 (01:23:33):
Maybe handed Hooker, maybe maybe handed Hooker.

Speaker 7 (01:23:38):
And the Steelers, I'm so curious of what they really
feel at Alan Park about that case because I know
we all sentence him to obscurity and ineffectiveness because of
Teddy Bridgewater taking one snap.

Speaker 8 (01:23:56):
So I don't know.

Speaker 5 (01:23:57):
We'll see what happens Teddy Bridgewater.

Speaker 6 (01:24:00):
Yeah, earlier in the season, you told me they could
get a second round pick for I said third, he said.

Speaker 9 (01:24:05):
No, you said.

Speaker 5 (01:24:07):
In love with him.

Speaker 9 (01:24:10):
Got a sixth round pick for Joe Milton.

Speaker 8 (01:24:13):
Sixth Joe Milton was never in the Heisman conversation.

Speaker 9 (01:24:17):
He won a couple of NFL games. This kid hasn't
done anything, and he got benched for a high school
coach and now he's fighting with Kyle playing behind.

Speaker 8 (01:24:28):
A r v P caliber quarterback.

Speaker 5 (01:24:31):
That would be your buddy.

Speaker 9 (01:24:33):
Jared Gov.

Speaker 8 (01:24:37):
Quarterback who was in the.

Speaker 5 (01:24:38):
League in touchdown throws for the past three years.

Speaker 8 (01:24:41):
You get no fights from me.

Speaker 5 (01:24:42):
Oh, I know, I just moron.

Speaker 9 (01:24:45):
The Lions signed Kyle Allen. This is his fifteam in
five years.

Speaker 8 (01:24:49):
Yeah, he's not good.

Speaker 5 (01:24:50):
Come in.

Speaker 8 (01:24:51):
He's gonna come in.

Speaker 9 (01:24:52):
Did you hear what praetition Dan said during the combine
and the pre draft talk. Kyle Allen is gonna fight
for the for the backup job because.

Speaker 7 (01:25:02):
He's supposed to say, Oh, he's just here for a
camp body and he's got no shot.

Speaker 8 (01:25:07):
Come on, you wouldn't say that you're a professional.

Speaker 7 (01:25:10):
Everybody that's invited to camp has a chance, and they
got to bring in some competition.

Speaker 8 (01:25:15):
No Hendon Hooker, But to just think that Hendon Hooker
is a wash and a waste of a pick. He
would have been waived by now if that were the case.

Speaker 7 (01:25:22):
You know, hopefully, hopefully we never have to see him
on the on the field, and hopefully we get something
for him.

Speaker 9 (01:25:28):
Oh, Terrell's in the chat.

Speaker 8 (01:25:30):
Who is it?

Speaker 9 (01:25:30):
Terrell's in the super Chatterrell?

Speaker 5 (01:25:34):
What a fight? Dolla?

Speaker 9 (01:25:36):
Yes, stick, all coaches and gms are judged by Super Bowls.
I agree with them. There, that's a fact. Get out
of your fields, laughing. No one is above reproach until
there is a parade schedule.

Speaker 6 (01:25:48):
Hey, so so according to Terrell, there's only been like
ten good GMS in the history.

Speaker 5 (01:25:53):
Of the NFL.

Speaker 9 (01:25:54):
Well, this is Super Bowl sixty, right, but.

Speaker 5 (01:25:57):
There's been multiple Super Bowl winners, right, Okay, so maybe
fifty more. No gms. Gms are there for a long time.

Speaker 9 (01:26:04):
Man, what's sixty teams? Okay?

Speaker 5 (01:26:06):
And how many Super Bowl coaches have there?

Speaker 9 (01:26:08):
So sixty games? One hundred and twenty teams?

Speaker 6 (01:26:11):
So no, but that's not hanging a banner, and that's
not having a parade. You got to be the winner
a cold according to this man. Okay, he said, where's
the parade? Do you have a parade for.

Speaker 5 (01:26:19):
Coming in second?

Speaker 14 (01:26:20):
No?

Speaker 9 (01:26:20):
But okay, then then nice to get there.

Speaker 5 (01:26:23):
It would be nice to get there.

Speaker 6 (01:26:24):
But I'm asking you now, you're telling me that only
a small percentage of gms are ever successful. Jerry Jones
to Charrell, is the most successful GM in the NFL
right now because they won championships thirty years ago and
haven't done a damn thing since.

Speaker 5 (01:26:40):
He's above reproach.

Speaker 7 (01:26:41):
According to Charrell, something tells me Terrell doesn't care about
the bobblehead and he spent that five dollars just to
talk to you.

Speaker 5 (01:26:50):
Well, me and Terrell talked on the phone. You know,
like me and Terrell have a history of Florida.

Speaker 6 (01:26:54):
Is that the fl Yeah, Terrell from FL And I
thought Terrell got his head on straight, but apparently Trell
still got his head.

Speaker 5 (01:27:01):
Up his eyes all right.

Speaker 9 (01:27:03):
Well, thanks for the five Torell. Yeah, appreciate it that
the comment. And I understand what he's saying. I really
truly do. Yeah, because I always tell the guys, we
have never been in a Super Bowl game, and this
is Super Bowl sixty. Stop Brad Holmes's fault. He got
us as close. He got us closer than any other
GM ever got us.

Speaker 6 (01:27:21):
There's been thirty five coaches who've won a Super Bowl
thirty five. So in the history of the NFL, they've
only had thirty five good coaches Corey to.

Speaker 8 (01:27:29):
Terrell, and only two of them played indoors.

Speaker 9 (01:27:33):
Jason Kenyon threw it another five. There's a competition. Jason says,
trading Jamo would tank his career. Keeping them would get
him paid after a fifth year, maybe a super Bowl.
No Jmo, no career. Thanks for selling me up my
last s up. I think I did it right, Jason,
not sure. The written word is hard to read sometimes.

Speaker 8 (01:27:56):
I'll tell you what.

Speaker 7 (01:27:57):
This city is so enamored with Jamo that I just
I don't know how this guy doesn't get resigned without
half of the Lion's faithful literally just crying themselves to
sleep that night.

Speaker 9 (01:28:10):
He is something. He is definitely a wild card.

Speaker 8 (01:28:12):
But you guys got about twenty more minutes to get
in on this.

Speaker 11 (01:28:16):
We have one heck of a wheel.

Speaker 8 (01:28:18):
Yeah, show that off.

Speaker 11 (01:28:20):
I'm still building it, so we'll do it later on.

Speaker 8 (01:28:22):
Come back from break, we'll take a look.

Speaker 7 (01:28:23):
But again, you guys are gonna get a really nice
prize package here, and so get those super chats.

Speaker 8 (01:28:29):
And you got twenty minutes.

Speaker 9 (01:28:30):
Well, we come back from the break, I'm gonna show
you the Lion's new locker room and Allen Park. And
there's someone that's rooting for Zadarius Smith to become a
Lion again.

Speaker 5 (01:28:39):
We all are. We'll tell you that, right.

Speaker 11 (01:28:44):
And there's what it looks like right now.

Speaker 8 (01:28:46):
Wow, the serious competition, Destiny.

Speaker 9 (01:28:50):
Take it away, Ricky or is that you Pete?

Speaker 11 (01:28:52):
That would be me, young man. I appreciate you, Thomas,
thank you, my friend.

Speaker 19 (01:28:55):

Speaker 5 (01:32:11):
Got fighting with people in the chat now, I love it.
My favorite.

Speaker 6 (01:32:16):
I should do a show alone because I don't like
people disagree. I don't mind people disagree with me if
they actually make sense. Well, you're talking out of both
sides of your mouth. Oh, if you have a parade,
you're beyond a ppproach. But Jerry Jones had parades. We
can't criticize them. Like, what are we doing here, Oh,
there's only been thirty five gms in the entire history
of the NFL.

Speaker 8 (01:32:35):
That are worth the damn easy that's he said. That's
what we're trying to figure out.

Speaker 5 (01:32:41):
Oh, no, easy easy.

Speaker 6 (01:32:42):
He's on his Malik Willis thing, and it's like, Dude,
I'm known as the biggest golf slappy of the network,
but he still tries to pitch that I wanted Malik
Willis and it's like, well, which tim I I did?

Speaker 5 (01:32:53):
But which one I know?

Speaker 1 (01:32:54):
You did?

Speaker 5 (01:32:55):
Your whole everybody did this when we trade it up,
I thought it was yeah, that's that's what everybody thought.

Speaker 7 (01:33:02):
We got another super chat in here. Brandon threw in
five bucks. He's throwing his hat into the ring. He
wants to take home this bibble had jamo Is staying.
In my opinion, trading away a playmaker for a possible
playmaker in the draft is way too much, is way
too risky. Before we get to that, we're at eighty lakes.
Get us to one hundred clucks. Smash that like button

(01:33:22):
and I'll add a few more cards in.

Speaker 8 (01:33:23):
But are we're still on JM?

Speaker 5 (01:33:25):
Are we still talking James?

Speaker 6 (01:33:27):
Because I mean, that's the number one topic for the
Lions today. Even though it's draft week. We can hypothesize
who's coming up. I think because the Lions have such
a late.

Speaker 5 (01:33:36):
Pick, it's just it's a different approach to the draft.

Speaker 9 (01:33:39):
LUs it's not a it's not an exciting draft. It's
known as just a from what I understand, it's a
The first round of this draft will be mostly starters,
but no superstars.

Speaker 8 (01:33:52):
That's running back draft.

Speaker 11 (01:33:53):
Ever, though you think that, you watch yep, very good
running back draft.

Speaker 8 (01:33:57):
You watch are running back in the maybe even the
sixth round.

Speaker 9 (01:34:04):
Watch out of that kid in Ohio State running back.

Speaker 5 (01:34:06):
And the Raiders. I just hope he doesn't go to
the Bears.

Speaker 9 (01:34:13):
To the Bears. One thing I don't want to see
the Raiders.

Speaker 5 (01:34:17):
Yeah, the Raiders want him bad.

Speaker 9 (01:34:18):
But these sons, but these sons are guns. Might trade
up because Cleveland and the Giants are shopping two and
three for that reason. They know the Bears want to
come up and get ask to Gentyt. That would be
their Gibbs.

Speaker 8 (01:34:33):
I don't want to see O Mary and Hampton. There
either to be honest.

Speaker 5 (01:34:37):
As long as it's not genty, that's that's all I
care about.

Speaker 6 (01:34:40):
Yeah, it's such a weird draft coverage week. I'm glad
we got the Pistons to kind.

Speaker 5 (01:34:44):
Of give us some hype because I don't. I just didn't.
The lead up to this has not been what it is,
and it's clear we're not picking in the top ten.

Speaker 6 (01:34:52):
We're not drafting a guy that we're expecting to play
week one and change the organization, which we've been.

Speaker 5 (01:34:58):
When you're drafted Calvin.

Speaker 6 (01:34:59):
John On, some Matthew Stafford, you know, Aiden Hutchinson, Pane Sewell,
like all those guys you expected to come in start
and kind of change the culture. There's really not a
guy you're focusing on to come change the culture. You're
you're looking for a complementary piece in this draft with
where you're drafting at right now. And that's not saying
that Brad Holmes isn't the type to trade up because

(01:35:20):
he's traded up to twelve twice.

Speaker 8 (01:35:21):
Well, I'm gonna agree with you, but I'm not comfortable
with the you disagree with me.

Speaker 7 (01:35:28):
I'm not comfortable with the you know, the complimentary piece,
because what we've seen these two guys doing, Dan and
Brad is just take the best players available that might
be a complimentary piece now this year, but everybody that
they seem to draft becomes a major, major piece for

(01:35:51):
this team in general. So Lions fans all want to
see them fill the holes. This team doesn't draft to
phill holes. They identify players that will fit in their culture,
that had college production very important as well, that they
feel will easily assimilate into what they have going on
in Allen Park. So listen, guys, they're not drafting to

(01:36:15):
film needs on this team. They are drafting players, and
we're gonna see that. You're gonna be shocked almost every
single round of this draft, like we have every single
draft we've seen from these guys.

Speaker 8 (01:36:27):
And I can't wait for it.

Speaker 5 (01:36:28):
I know I can't. I'm so excited for this draft.
Like the buzz isn't there, but it's Draft night, it's
the Lions.

Speaker 6 (01:36:34):
You're adding to a fifteen to two team that did
something that no team had ever done and succeeded with
damn near two starting defenses on ir Like, I'm excited
to get all the guys back that we lost last
year through injury. But it's gonna be fun to see
who Brad Holmes thinks is going to add to this mix.

Speaker 5 (01:36:54):
And if it's Harmon, oh my god.

Speaker 9 (01:36:58):
Speaking of Allen Park, the Lion's got some new digs
and we can play this without the music. Here's what
the new locker rooms at Allen Park look like. Now
these are not the ones at ford Field, but these
are the ones at a P and they're pretty sharp.
Take a look at him.

Speaker 5 (01:37:12):
How about Jason Kenyon.

Speaker 9 (01:37:14):
Jason Kenyon's really coming, really coming through. Jason Kenyon with
a hundred a hondo.

Speaker 5 (01:37:23):
That's a wreck.

Speaker 9 (01:37:23):
That's the new That is the wheel wool Jason. Jason
owns the wheel.

Speaker 11 (01:37:32):
Jason is the wheel.

Speaker 5 (01:37:33):
That's a nice locker room though. Look at that.

Speaker 7 (01:37:35):
That's very nice looking door likes away from one hundred,
which means add some more in there, So smash that.

Speaker 5 (01:37:45):
Comment.

Speaker 9 (01:37:46):
Yeah, I want to read it. It's uh something that
we're gonna talk about here. It's big Z come back.
I live in Okay, now Oklahoma, I guess live closer
to Bama than Detroit. Loved by Detroit Sports. Ms U
Gamo is worth the wait. Pro Rodeo deserves attention. I
competed at the Palace for five years. He's a cowboy.

(01:38:07):
He won the championship finals in nash Vegas and oh
four next up.

Speaker 5 (01:38:14):
Twenty four seven, three sixty five.

Speaker 9 (01:38:16):
Man at the Palace, you are the man.

Speaker 11 (01:38:21):
For that, I'll do something for this guy, like just.

Speaker 9 (01:38:23):
For that, I got to play you. This SoundBite from
Detroit rapper Cash Doll, who's been seen with za Darius Smith.

Speaker 5 (01:38:31):
What's song does Cash down?

Speaker 9 (01:38:32):
I haven't.

Speaker 11 (01:38:37):
Please come back to Lion?

Speaker 5 (01:38:42):
Yes, we love Sarious.

Speaker 11 (01:38:44):
Come back, come back.

Speaker 5 (01:38:51):
The Darius, come back to the Lions.

Speaker 8 (01:38:58):
The best person that was cut off. At the end,
she goes, how much is it contribute?

Speaker 5 (01:39:05):
Well, her man's unemployed right now.

Speaker 2 (01:39:07):
So.

Speaker 7 (01:39:10):
Pay for the kid from from uh with the guy
the Wolverines that I don't know his name? The reason
contribute to a free agent by the way, Wow, cash down?

Speaker 5 (01:39:22):
Yeah yeah No.

Speaker 6 (01:39:23):
Zadarias Smith also posted an Easter picture of him wearing
a Lions T shirt.

Speaker 9 (01:39:28):
I love the guy.

Speaker 5 (01:39:29):
I do well. He kind of odd considering his pressure rate. No,
I'm with you. I want Zadaria Smith. That's a rotational piece.

Speaker 14 (01:39:38):
I do.

Speaker 5 (01:39:39):
I want him here and it appears with the.

Speaker 9 (01:39:42):
Guys that that were missing from this team.

Speaker 5 (01:39:44):
No, I want to see it. And that's that's the thing.

Speaker 6 (01:39:46):
We're judging zadarias Smith being a Lion, as being our
top defensive edge rusher.

Speaker 5 (01:39:51):
He's never been that.

Speaker 6 (01:39:52):
The reason he was so successful in Cleveland was he
was opposite Miles Garrett. Here he could be opposite eight
and Hutch and then like, I don't know why he
hasn't been signed yet, but I do know there's thirty
two other teams with thirty one other teams that haven't
signed them either, So I think we're first in line.

Speaker 9 (01:40:09):
If we want to tell you, I want I want
to do something for Jason Kenyon.

Speaker 5 (01:40:12):
Jason, you want to talk rodeo. You know my dad
used to ride bulls.

Speaker 8 (01:40:17):
Get Jason, Jason.

Speaker 9 (01:40:18):
I want you to go on Woodward Sports Network the
website www dot Woodward sportsnetwork dot com. Go to our
says merchandise, pick yourself out something, yeah, and we are
gonna send it to you. You send me your address
to Maz at woodwardsports dot com. Maz at woodwardsports dot com.

(01:40:38):
We're gonna send you something one hundred bucks man. I
hope you win. The uh. I hope you win something here.
I know the rest of you guys, I'm rooting for
you too.

Speaker 5 (01:40:46):
But it's confirmed Mas hates everybody else I do.

Speaker 8 (01:40:49):
Zidarius hasn't left town.

Speaker 5 (01:40:52):
I mean, it's girls here. Why would you girls? Why
that they're together since months ago?

Speaker 8 (01:41:04):
I don't follow TMZ dog.

Speaker 9 (01:41:07):
You follow Detroit Sports Dog.

Speaker 5 (01:41:08):
I don't follow their girl.

Speaker 9 (01:41:11):
I don't.

Speaker 7 (01:41:11):
I still don't know what Jared's hot wife's name is.
I know she's hot, I don't know what her name is.

Speaker 5 (01:41:19):
Just respect, don't disrespect the queen. What's your name the queen?
I'll let you look at queen GoF I'll let you
look it up.

Speaker 8 (01:41:26):
Shout out us. Girlfriend. I appreciate you.

Speaker 6 (01:41:31):
I love her.

Speaker 9 (01:41:34):
I don't know if I like cash Doll better than Jared.

Speaker 8 (01:41:36):
But she was very charming in that video, man, very charming.

Speaker 9 (01:41:41):
I hope she does get with Brad Holmes and pay
some of his salary because I'd like to see Zadarius.

Speaker 6 (01:41:46):
It's not how the salary cap work can't suffle. Could
you imagine crowdfunding your football team?

Speaker 5 (01:41:52):
Why?

Speaker 6 (01:41:55):
That would be such a good idea for any professional
sports to include one fan sign.

Speaker 5 (01:42:01):
The fans get ten million a year. Oh we got
I don't know. I don't even but wouldn't that be
such a cool thing to be part of?

Speaker 8 (01:42:12):
Like I love that?

Speaker 5 (01:42:13):
I actually you do?

Speaker 9 (01:42:15):
Say yeah?

Speaker 14 (01:42:16):
I say so.

Speaker 11 (01:42:17):
I saw something on a line and this guy was like,
you know what they should do.

Speaker 10 (01:42:19):
Every team should draft a small person just for like first,
for like fourth and one.

Speaker 5 (01:42:25):
Well, you know why that said Mike Leach.

Speaker 14 (01:42:28):
You know what?

Speaker 5 (01:42:29):
Yeh know.

Speaker 6 (01:42:29):
There was a coach, Mike Leach who said that that
was one of his strategies was he was going to
get a midget and throw him over on short downs.

Speaker 14 (01:42:36):
Yeah.

Speaker 9 (01:42:37):
By the way, Jason, that was a great idea. Yeah,
Jason ken shot down at the University Cowboys says mass
pick a winner. They could have the gear. So, in
other words, he's given up. He's given the answer pot.

Speaker 8 (01:42:50):
So he's contributing to the pot.

Speaker 9 (01:42:52):
He's contributing to the He's but we're gonna send them
the Woodwards sports gift.

Speaker 11 (01:42:56):
He's still in the wheel anyway.

Speaker 5 (01:42:58):
Lets lives Daily with.

Speaker 9 (01:42:59):
The Fly is making me a proud fan Central Florida
in the Big House and Jason Kenyon for ten bucks.
I don't have this cash but I could talk all
rodeo in Michigan. I was a Michigan champ. We have
world champs at rodeo.

Speaker 5 (01:43:15):
I know them.

Speaker 9 (01:43:16):
