Pete is here, Braylan's on his way. Yeah, this is
party day here in Detroit. Guys. Uh, honestly, this is
the truth. I hardly was able to sleep last night.
That's how excited I was for today. That's fantastic. Pistons
(00:47):
at seven, the NFL Draft at eight, the Lions. We
don't know what the heck they're gonna do.
Speaker 4 (00:52):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (00:52):
It's a great day to be a sports fan. It's
a great day to be alive. It's gorgeous outside, it's April.
Let's go baby, a little extra sleep last night. We
got a real long day here at Woodward Sports.
Speaker 5 (01:04):
We will be downtown for the festivities tonight. Join us
at the legendary Buddies Pizza. Yes, the stadium, we're gonna
be there. We got all kinds of teams down there.
The whole Woodward crew is going to be the make
sure you joined us. We're doing the draft party, We're
doing the Pistons watch party, and then we're doing.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
The Pistons post game afterwards. You know what you should do?
That little magazine you got in the back that's got
Brian Greasy on it. Yeah, you should bring that with
you to the to the to Buddies tonight. May we'll
give it away to a special listener. Hey, National Championship
Sports Illustrated answered, you go grab it.
Speaker 5 (01:40):
But uh, what a day today, guys.
Speaker 3 (01:43):
This is the first, right, this is the first, the
first playoff game in the history of Little Caesars Arena.
It's a great arena. You know, it's not the Joe.
It's not the comforts of the comforts of the palace.
How beautiful the palace was, How comforting the Joe was.
I know the stays were a hazard. It was they
It was a death track. Joe was a death trap.
(02:06):
But it was our it was our death.
Speaker 1 (02:08):
It was our death.
Speaker 3 (02:09):
There was our death trap.
Speaker 6 (02:10):
It's just like our horse track.
Speaker 3 (02:12):
I know, it's like Hazel Park and the DRC. They
all closed down on us. But tonight Little Caesars Arena
is going to be on the national stage for the
first time. And coming up after this, the NBA Draft's
gonna be on its way here soon enough, the NHL
Draft will be on its way here soon enough. The
All Star Games will be on their way here soon enough.
But tonight the Pistons could put their stamp out on there.
(02:37):
Tonight they could win, or at least give it their
best try on the inaugural playoff run against the Knicks.
Speaker 5 (02:44):
Meaningful playoff game for the Pistons at LCA, ever, and
the first meaningful Detroit Pistons playoff game in seventeen years,
I mean the last two we've talked about a Dad
and alge and nobody expected us to get out of
those rounds. Everybody's just hoping to make it a five
or six game series, which obviously we did not do.
(03:04):
But this series is tied up at one one. The
momentum certainly seems to favor the Pistons right now. And
what it comes down to now is can LCA sound
and feel like the.
Speaker 3 (03:17):
Palace I hope it does. And what this has that
the Palace doesn't have is the outdoor courtyard. Right now.
You love that courtyard. I'm telling you. I love it
because when you're watching a game, a playoff game, and
they show you the crowd outside, even like Toronto. I
know Detroiters hate the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Raptors,
(03:37):
but those fans are amazing fans. And when Toronto's on
the road, they look. You look at that courtyard and
it's Jurassic Park when the Raptors are there. I don't
know what they call it when the Leafs are home
or away, but it's packed. It is so exciting. And
that's why that courtyard's there. The huge television, there's gonna
be news teams all out Our guys are gonna be
(03:59):
out there all over the play We got niked Night
out there, the heavyweights, all of our guys, Ryan Lentz,
the rest of the crew is gonna be out there.
They're gonna have the cameras rolling. So we want to
see Woodward Sports represented tonight outside at Little Caesars Arena.
Speaker 5 (04:14):
And we certainly will be representing again. We'll be at Buddy.
So come on and join us. You know you mentioned
that Sports Illustrated, yes, ninety seven.
Speaker 3 (04:22):
Is it weird that I that I would just give
this away? Isn't that nice?
Speaker 5 (04:27):
Wow?
Speaker 3 (04:28):
Maybe we're Gonlan sign it? Yeah, I mean all our
Michigan fans.
Speaker 5 (04:32):
Maybe we'll run into a couple other Corner and Blue
people down there and have them sign it.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
I know there's a lot of Michigan fans out that
watch Woodward Sports. So if you're down there and you're
nice to answering, he might just gift that to you.
Speaker 5 (04:41):
Well, you know, speaking of autographs, it's day four. You're
stuck with me all week as you know, but once
again today we will have a super chat. Raffle, get
in that super chat. Not only will we read your
message on the air, but you're also gonna enter yourself
in for this prize package. And kind of stepped it
up today. We are not only giving you the Brayln
(05:06):
Edwards rookie card, which he will sign, but I also
got this is a staddas ass Darren McCarty card ever made.
He signed that for us today before he left. We're
gonna see him downtown tonight as well. Pretty awesome piece there.
And then of course in honor of that v Friends
(05:26):
Tops Chrome release on May seventh, One of Gary Ve's
Series two cards is going to be included in there
as well. Got a bunch of other Detroit stuff, a
Jeff Okudah gold press proof card. I know you guys
are huge fans of him. There's a few other cards
in here. I'm gonna include another one of these Vipers
pog wheel and uh, I know you guys enjoyed the bobbleheads,
(05:51):
so you might not remember him a Nazi Mohammad babblehead
as well today and then of course the Woodward Sports
and everything. But get in there early and offering, guys,
wead all of your super chats will and obviously at
the end of the show, we're gonna pull a name
and send this off to you guys. Two of our
(06:13):
legendary hosts have signed cards for you guys, and somebody
will be walking away with him. At the end of
the show.
Speaker 3 (06:19):
We will spin the wheel of Pete later on tonight.
You got to you got to. You got till three
fifty three five zero to get your super chats in.
The more you put in, the more shots you have
on the wheel, and we'll spin it at three fifty
five today like we do every day this week. Listen,
this is Draft Day. We're gonna get to the Pistons.
(06:39):
I promise you this is Draft day. Guys. There he is.
It's Kevin Costu. What was his name in Draft Day?
He forgot his name? Sonny, Sonny, Yesny, who knows Draft Day?
Throw it out there for me. I forgot his name
all of a sudden. But what a movie? What the
trade three second round picks to grab a running back
in the top ten or something like that that. I
(07:00):
haven't watched the movie in a long time, but you
guys can remind me. It does it does well. It
wasn't great for me to watch it more than Sonny Weaver.
Speaker 5 (07:09):
Yeah, I only watched it once.
Speaker 6 (07:11):
Was it Sonny Weaver?
Speaker 3 (07:12):
Sonny Weaver of the Cleveland Browns?
Speaker 7 (07:14):
Sir?
Speaker 3 (07:14):
Of course, of course, the Cleveland Browns.
Speaker 5 (07:16):
You know they messed that up.
Speaker 3 (07:18):
So the NFL Draft tonight, guys, the NFL Draft is tonight.
I want to take you back to the beginning where
mel Kiper was really well, he was. He was on ESPN.
He was this guy that sat in his basement put
these draft books together, sent him out to different media members.
Before you know it, he gets a gig on ESPN.
(07:39):
He's on the desk where Chris Furman and the rest
of the crew. Bill Tobin is the general manager of
the Colts at that time, the Indianapolis Colts, Bill Tobin.
Bill Tobin with the Great, the late great Chris Mortenson
had this.
Speaker 8 (07:56):
One question, build a lot of criticism about not taking
a quarterback here.
Speaker 9 (07:59):
Your response, well, you know.
Speaker 3 (08:01):
We got a guy up there. Who in the hell
is mel Kiper?
Speaker 10 (08:04):
In a way, I mean, here's a guy that criticizes everybody,
whoever they take. He's got the answers to who you
should take and who you shouldn't take. In my knowledge
of him, he's never ever put on a jockstrap. He's
never been a coach, he's never been a scout, he's
never been an administrator, and all of a sudden he's
an expert. He's in our papers two days ago telling
us who we have to take. We don't have to
(08:24):
take anybody that mel Kuiper says we have to take.
Mel Kuiper has no more credentials to do what he's
doing than my neighbor. And my neighbor's a postman, and
he doesn't even have season. Take us to the NFL.
Speaker 3 (08:35):
There you go, the great Bill Tobin and the late
great Chris Mortenson. Do you remember that? No, how fantastic
is that?
Speaker 5 (08:43):
That's fristom I've ever seen it.
Speaker 3 (08:44):
That's so. Did you see Mel's face as they panned
the camera to him, and he's just watching this, and
he's like, and here he is all those years later.
And Ryan or Maddy put it out a long time ago.
I agreed with him right away. And now the national
media is on it as well. Melchi should belong in
the NFL, the Football Hall of Fame, He's the Pro
Football Hall of Fame. He's getting there, you know.
Speaker 5 (09:07):
Burn yesterday's prize winner. Yes, he mentioned him, mel kiper
now he uses the word. Was a massive Baltimore Colts fan,
if he remembers correctly. Wonder if he was after that?
Speaker 4 (09:19):
Yeah he was, well yeah, but after that, Well, the
reason he did what he did is because he was
such a Colts fan that he kind of let his
fandom come out, gotch and then Bill Tobin crushed him
after that.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
Don't let that happen here in Detroit. Huh oh, good thing,
good thing. Anyway, Lia's sitting at twenty eight tonight, guys,
and we've gone back and forth, back and forth. What
they're going to do. I'll tell you one thing they're
gonna do. They paid one of their guys yesterday Smart.
Oh it is Smart Kirby Joseph Smart four years, eighty
six million. That's twenty one and a half million a year,
(09:53):
making him the highest paid safety in NFL. His story, Smart,
you knew what was gonna happen. It was gonna be
any day now. Matter of fact, he threw out the
opening pitch yesterday at Comerica Park. You knew he was
a great day. And I think he's in Green Bay.
I think he's making one of the picks in the
second round for the Lion. So Kirby Joseph one safety down.
(10:17):
Brian Branch posted his Instagram said listen, man, I'm so
happy for you. Keep it going, and then Jamis and
Williams put his post out. I showed you that as well.
Everyone is happy for Kirby.
Speaker 5 (10:28):
Kirby won three games on his own at the end
of the fourth quarter with a critical interception, turnover, big plays.
When you look at the numbers and the things that
he's done in his first few years. There's one other
guy that's done it as well, my favorite player of
all time.
Speaker 1 (10:43):
Ed Reed.
Speaker 5 (10:44):
When you're in that kind of company, you gotta keep
that guy here. And while everybody in Detroit is just
fascinated and focused on who's going to be the edge,
Who's gonna be the edge, Dan and Brad make another
great move and one of their guys, a guy that
they identified through the draft, they took him. They've developed
(11:06):
him into a premier safety and a guy that can
flip a game at the most crucial moment. I think
it's an absolutely awesome signing for this Detroit Lions team.
I know there was a lot of people this offseason
that didn't think that they should, but these guys are
building it differently. And until all of these Detroit line
fans get forty years in a you know, in a
(11:29):
company with a franchise and start making these kinds of moves,
at some point you have to look at their track
record and you just have to trust in what these
guys do because they're doing it differently, and in fact,
I think that they might be setting a new trend
that you'll be seeing more teams follow in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (11:48):
It's the trend is basically, look, we're not going to
go for the high priced free agents, despite what I say,
despite what we all want on the chat, at least
some of us. I'm the leader of that. I know
always want the big name free agents. I want instant satisfaction.
They're not gonna do that. What they do is they
draft great players, quality players, and now they want to
(12:10):
keep them. Kirby one down, Goff, they got him, He's
taken care of. Peney sewell taken care of. Here's who's left,
Jamiir Gibbs, Sam Laporta, Jack Campbell, Brian Branch, Aiden Hutchinson,
and I know I'm missing one other as well, but
those five or six players are next due. Who gets
(12:32):
it next? I hope they could pay Brian Branch next year.
They have one extra year to sign him because he
was a first round pick. Kirby had to be done
this year because he's on the last year of his
deal because he was a second round pick. So we
got an extra year for Branch, we got an extra
year for Aiden Hutchinson. Will they wait that year? We'll see.
Last year around this draft is when they started signing
(12:53):
their players. They signed pen Ay last year if you
remember at this time as well. So let me ask
you this, anson they sign re sign Brian Branch to
a big contract, or are they gonna draft his replacement tonight.
Speaker 5 (13:09):
I don't see many players in the NFL better than
Brian Branch at what he does. The guy is an
ultimate disruptor. But there's something that people don't really pay
a lot of attention to, and that is chemistry in
the defensive backfield. And when you bring in corners, it's
(13:29):
one thing, but those two safeties understand each other just
as much as they understand the scheme that the Lions
want to run. I'd love to keep those two together
manning and captaining our defensive backfield because to me, we've
seen so many different corners come in and out. The
consistent part is Kirby and Branch and it starts with
(13:53):
those two and it trickles down to the rest. So
I mean, personally, my favorite position on the field fore
is free safety. Strong safety is my second favorite. So
a little bit of kool aid for me on those
two guys. But they are two of the premier safeties
in this league. They've grown up together in the NFL.
Let's keep them playing together for at least another five years.
Speaker 3 (14:14):
I'm with you, I hope so. I love Brian Branch.
I told you he was my favorite draft pick from
that draft a couple of years ago. Because he didn't
get picked in the first round. He slid. He stayed there,
he got redressed, dressed sharp, looked great for Day two
and when they called his name, he went on that
stage and shook and I for forgot who was on
the mic at that time. I don't think it was Goodell.
(14:36):
I think it was his guy, his secondary guy. But
the fans cheered him. Was in Kansas City. The fans
cheered him, and it was great to see that that
kid wanted his dream and he stayed. I told my wife,
look at this guy. This guy is gonna be special,
and he has been special. He was special in his
first freaking game against the Chiefs. You remember it, interception touchdown.
(14:59):
You know the mouthpiece, the green mouthpiece that sticks out
of his helmet. You know where Brian Branch is. Please,
Lions Brad Holmes, sign this guy next year. Do not
draft me a safety tonight, do not.
Speaker 6 (15:14):
I think I was gonna say I think Anson's correct,
because Anson your point is proven by Philadelphia last year
and they did it with two rookies. And to have
that chemistry in the backfield is so incredibly important. And
whatever Kirby Joseph wants from now on he gets. It's like,
you know, if he's going to captain that, if he
and Branch are going to captain that backfield, then Ennis
(15:34):
Rakestraw is gonna have to like literally just be. They're
gonna have to be on the same page and have
that chemistry. It's same for Terry and Arnold and all
that stuff. And I agree with you because that's gonna
make or break the lines, especially this coming season with
what the Bears have planned for them coming up in
two games this season.
Speaker 5 (15:50):
And if you don't sign Brian Branch, the honey Brancher, right,
how do you replace him? That's gotta be that's gotta
be scarier than to replace.
Speaker 3 (16:00):
Them with another terrific college player like they did. And
that's what that's the specialty, right, Sure, that's b at
home specially. I don't want him to do it, but
I would not be shocked if they grab a corner
or a safety tonight.
Speaker 5 (16:11):
No, I mean or tomorrow again, I'm not gonna be
shocked by any position that they draft, because I'm gonna
stick to my guns on the fact that there's an
eighteen man list every year that these guys come in with,
and all it comes down to is the player, not
the position. But R J. Graham did break the seals
on the super Chat Detroit b rockin I will be
(16:33):
watching the Pistons as my main course and Lions draft
as a side dish. There might be trades Kirby as elite.
You know, we talked about this early in the week
with stick. He came back on Tuesday and apologized after
watching the Pistons Monday night. And I guess I am
kind of curious. I'd love to hear from the chat
which is going to have the majority of your attention.
(16:53):
Is it going to be the Pistons or are you're
gonna be listening for that that bell every few minutes?
Speaker 3 (17:00):
Draft cover Thick We have it in there, Ricky somewhere.
I'll find that ESPN chime somewhere eventually. I have told
you that like weeks and weeks ago.
Speaker 2 (17:07):
Right.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
Othertheless, Hey, I just served from Ryan Ormanti. He's in
Florida chilling. He's gonna join us coming up here in
about ten minutes, So Pete, watch out.
Speaker 6 (17:15):
On the put a poll cougar in the chat.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
In the chat, guys, and to leave some sun.
Speaker 6 (17:22):
For US, NBA or NFL.
Speaker 3 (17:25):
Wow, I don't know, Ricky. We can hear what you're playing.
By the way, Yeah, that's okay, Michael.
Speaker 5 (17:33):
Michael Wherry hopped in. If they draft a safety, it's
a depth piece and you're certainly right with that. It
is also an option after this season where you can
look and where you're at. Do we need to resign Branch?
Did we hit the lotto in the draft with this
young safety? That could possibly prevent us from having to
(17:54):
re up and extend a guy like buying Branch because
it's going to be costly. But again, this this team
doesn't give big contra guys they don't know. They give
big contracts to guys that they sought out, found, drafted, developed.
Speaker 3 (18:07):
Dante one fifty one in the chat says, look at
Craig Woodson from cal So let's check out Craig Woodson
from cal I'm not sure who he is?
Speaker 5 (18:15):
Well, why you're looking at that burn again? Yesterday's winner?
He's in with another super chat here aspect I don't
want to lose any of them because they are so good.
But Brad ex sells at drafting wide receivers and safeties
in any round one, two, three, four, the dumpster outside
he does. He hits him pretty much every single round.
So again, I just I don't even care who these
(18:37):
guys draft because I just have so much confidence it'll
be exciting no matter what, it'll be exciting.
Speaker 3 (18:42):
And that everyone thought was gonna get traded it's Jamison Williams. Well,
guess what. The Lions put this little, this little ditty
out yesterday and there he is working out at the top.
There's the rest of the team, well three other guys.
I think ragno is in there.
Speaker 5 (18:58):
Is that a concussion being It's not a.
Speaker 3 (19:01):
Concussion beanie, it's just a beanie. But that is Jamis
and Williams already at Allen Park working out. I saw
golf going there a couple of days ago. So they're back, guys,
they're working out, and it's all got Jamis and Williams
is going anywhere. That's the subtle way the Lions. I've
told us, chill out, man, he's staying a Lion.
Speaker 5 (19:18):
Who do you think drove this smoke, screen, trade rumor,
more hate, hateful fans out of Detroit, or just nervous,
nervous Detroit fans that are just obsessed with.
Speaker 6 (19:32):
This nervous nervous.
Speaker 3 (19:34):
I think it's guys like us that I want to
throw stuff out there. You see, you see a guy's name,
you see a rumor. People put rumors out. Ninety nine
percent of them are just nothing. They're they're their clickfait.
And you know, I've gotten caught a million times on
the New York porch and Adam Shafter all right, Adam
(19:54):
Shafter is one of my favorite follows porch.
Speaker 5 (19:58):
I see what you did there.
Speaker 3 (19:59):
But that's the truth. That's a He's true. Adam Shafter
is out there after and he is out there, and
they put fake news out if you look real quick,
breaking news. James and Williams is getting traded. No, he's
not Edits us. We drive it and then you guys
feed into it. And that's what we do together. We're
all we're all together. It's like sitting at a bar.
That's like sitting at Buddies tonight with us. Make sure
(20:19):
you come on out and see us. I promise you,
I'll give you a slice if you come and say I.
Speaker 6 (20:23):
And the latest one, Tommy George Pickens has unfollowed the
Pittsburgh Steelers Instagram.
Speaker 3 (20:28):
That's I know, George Pickens is and Deontay Johnson my
two least favorite people. Tyreek Kills on the top of
the change. But you know who's on the top of it.
You know who the tree ornament, who the angel is
on top of the tree, it's you know who, it's Lebron. Okay,
But then I'm gonna but then I'm gonna put Then
(20:48):
I'm gonna put Tyreek Hill right there. He's gonna hang
right below Lebron A couple of branches down. I'm gonna
put George Pickens on one, Deontay Johnson on the other one.
Last year, I was begging Deontay Johnson to get traded
to the Panthers, and it happened. He went to the
worst team in the league, and guess what, they kicked
them off the freaking team. Then he went to the Ravens,
(21:11):
quit them, then something else. Then the Ravens signed up
for the playoff, but they didn't win a game. These
guys are bums. Honestly, they're bums.
Speaker 5 (21:20):
It's weird. Howevery every city has their sports crack, if
you will. In Detroit, nobody can get enough of Miles
Garrett and jam o'talk like, even if there's nothing going on,
somebody wants to bring these guys up and let's fight. Listen,
there's no reason to trade Jamo this year unless there's
(21:45):
in house stuff that hasn't hit the media. We know
all about his track record with driving a night with
the gun, with the the performance enhancing substances and all that,
but you think about it, you know it's there's a
lot of stuff that goes on with these players and
these teams that never hit the media. So unless there's
(22:06):
something like that, there's zero reason to trade this guy
this year now going into next year. If he doesn't
come through with a completely clean twenty twenty five, that
is when you can move him. That is when you
avoid the twenty plus million dollar contract that you'd have
to sign him to in order to keep him in town,
and you get a little bit for him. You get
(22:27):
a third or a fourth, or you just let him
play it out and then you let somebody else sign
him and you take the compensantory third regardless giving him
up just to move up in the draft. You're losing
an elite player even if he causes unless you Carter,
what's that?
Speaker 3 (22:44):
Unless you're moving up for Abdul Carter.
Speaker 5 (22:46):
It's not going to be enough. No, it's not gonna enough.
So you let this guy run with this squad for
the next two years of this beautiful super Bowl window
that we are smack dab i.
Speaker 3 (22:57):
U Dante on the chat, Mads, what about Antonio Brown? Listen?
Antonio Brown is so whack it's over that. I almost
like him is He's like reinvented himself. He is hilarious.
Speaker 5 (23:10):
His sounds like we got Mads in the running for
Cracker of the Day.
Speaker 3 (23:14):
Rick, he's a follower. I mean to follow him on
Twitter is hilarious.
Speaker 2 (23:20):
Watch it.
Speaker 6 (23:21):
I can't watch it means hilarious?
Speaker 3 (23:23):
Here, Rick, what you I said?
Speaker 6 (23:24):
I can't watch it.
Speaker 9 (23:25):
It's sad.
Speaker 3 (23:27):
I'll tell you man. I think I think he's a
lot smarter and a lot sharper than we all pay
attention to it.
Speaker 11 (23:33):
I do you don't think No, I hate to call
the CTE, but yeah, it's pretty apparent that he's lost it.
Speaker 6 (23:42):
He's lost something.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
I'll leave it there.
Speaker 6 (23:44):
Yeah, Well, you saw his post from yesterday Here, Tommy,
one of your favorites. Here, tom I'll put this up.
That was his post from yesterday.
Speaker 5 (23:52):
Oh God, with the evidence tape and the only fans hooked.
Speaker 1 (24:00):
You know, I looked.
Speaker 5 (24:02):
I looked into that a little bit more last night.
I'd like to recant my statements. I think Shannon Sharp
is heavily guilty on this one, just based on listen.
You know these days that text messages can be subpoened
and are forever written in data when you speak on

Poota Kana. I'm a lone wolf here too.
Speaker 5 (30:32):
Gosh yeah, right, are you in no shaved Sarasota or
where are you at?
Speaker 14 (30:38):
We are in Siastic Key, so just over the bridge
from Sarasota. I shaved one day so I can get
the rest of my face, to get a little bit
of a tan.
Speaker 3 (30:49):
I couldn't.
Speaker 5 (30:49):
I couldn't let you go without talking to you on
draft day.
Speaker 3 (30:53):
Listen, you know what.
Speaker 14 (30:54):
I gotta be honest with you. I woke up this morning.
I was sick that I wasn't there. I have so
much to say.
Speaker 3 (30:59):
I know, you know what, Just tell me what you
got on your mind. Let's say what's gonna happen with
the Lions tonight?
Speaker 7 (31:07):
You know what I posted this earlier.
Speaker 14 (31:10):
I think they're gonna trade up, and they're gonna trade up,
and it's gonna shock you who they're gonna get.
Speaker 7 (31:15):
I think they're gonna go.
Speaker 14 (31:16):
After that offensive lineman from Georgia or from Alabama, excuse me,
the guard Tyler Booker. I don't know why, but something
tells me they are gonna do something shocking tonight. And
I think kind of like remember a couple of years
ago when they traded up for Jamo and we thought
it was gonna be for Malik, and then everybody's kind
(31:36):
of looking around like.
Speaker 3 (31:37):
Jamo, Jmo, What the world.
Speaker 14 (31:41):
I think they're gonna do something similar tonight. I think
they're gonna trade up, and everybody's gonna think it's for
some defensive end or or some type of edge rusher.
I think they're gonna get trade up and maybe get
like a Will Johnson, or trade up to get Tyler
Booker and let everybody kind of just lose their here that.
(32:02):
Brett Holmes says, No, I know what he's doing, trading
up to get a guy like that.
Speaker 7 (32:06):
Unbelievable.
Speaker 3 (32:08):
Hey, Peter Schrager, Peter, Peter Schrager's got them getting Will
Johnson at twenty eight. He thinks they're gonna slip at
twenty eight.
Speaker 14 (32:16):
Mass Daniel Jeremiah came out with a mock today.
Speaker 7 (32:19):
I don't know if you saw that.
Speaker 3 (32:20):
Yeah, he's not.
Speaker 7 (32:21):
Jennsen was not in the first round.
Speaker 3 (32:23):
I know I saw it.
Speaker 14 (32:24):
So those are those aren't two hacks either, you know
what I mean? Oh, they talk to guys, they know
what's going on. So maybe he does fall. I don't know,
but I think he's gonna be a tremendous pro And
whoever gets Will Johnson is gonna be very lucky.
Speaker 7 (32:40):
That's for sure.
Speaker 3 (32:41):
You know who's really falling Shador Sanders. People are saying
that he's out of the first round though, that's crazy.
Speaker 7 (32:47):
And you know what, let me say this.
Speaker 14 (32:50):
I saw that anonymous assistant coach or whatever just kind
of light a flame and throw a gasoline on his
interview or something like that, that that I shouldn't swear,
and I'm not gonna swear. That was so wrong for
(33:10):
him to say, and almost even.
Speaker 7 (33:12):
More wrong for the reporter. I forget who was. Maybe
it was Albert Breer to put that out.
Speaker 14 (33:18):
I just I just did not think Albert Breer had
to put that out, because now you're just piling on.
Now you're that that was like personal. And if you're
gonna say that, put your name on it, man, attach
your name to something like that. You don't come out anonymous.
Come on what you're supposed to be a grown man, anonymous.
(33:39):
If you've got something to say, say it, but you
don't come out and anonymous that he's the worst interview ever.
That's just horrible what they've done to that kid. And
I'll tell you this much too. Whoever gets him, maybe
it's better for him to go, you know, to a
Pittsburgh or go to a better organization. Then to go
(34:00):
to one of these Cleveland or New York where they're
going to fire their coach in a year or two. Anyway,
you don't want to be associated with anything like that anyway,
So go later in the draft, go to a better
organization and succeed. So you know, I I did not think,
and I do not think Seduor Sanders is going to
(34:23):
be a franchise quarterback. But I hope I am so
wrong because of the way he's been treated throughout this
draft process. I want to be more wrong about that
than anything in this draft. I want him to be
a franchise quarterback ten, twelve, fourteen to fifteen years and
win a couple of Super Bowls just because of the
(34:44):
way he's been treated throughout this draft.
Speaker 7 (34:46):
I am a big fan of his, but I hope
he does well.
Speaker 3 (34:51):
He already did well. I'm sorry, he already made so
many millions of dollars. So to fall in the draft
would help him look and help Dan Marino and helped
Aaron Rodgers and help those guys.
Speaker 7 (35:03):
Help Lamar Jackson.
Speaker 3 (35:04):
Yep, exactly exactly.
Speaker 14 (35:06):
You know, you go to a good organization, you go
to a good head coach, and you go to a
Super Bowl winning organization too, that's for sure.
Speaker 5 (35:16):
You know I'm gonna go there, and I'm completely on
board with you. I think that I'm gonna say it.
I think this is a race thing. I think this
is the first time that you've seen a ultra confident, outspoken,
young black quarterback that comes from money, and not just money,
but from a huge statue of one of the biggest
(35:38):
family names in football. And that's gonna rub some guys wrong.
And clearly there's been a few of those guys. This
guy's answered all of the detractors with his on play
the play on the field. This guy's going through six
different offensive coordinators. I think it's all smoke screen. The
(35:58):
marketability of a Sanders in New York, the largest media
center in the country, in the world.
Speaker 3 (36:06):
I don't see him.
Speaker 5 (36:07):
Going pastor and I know everybody's talking about going on later.
I don't want to go too far into shador. I
want to rewind back to what you said, though, you
think that this this this is a draft where they
trade up, and I'm about fifty to fifty with that.
I also think that because of guys like Will Johnson,
even even Harmon being talked about slipping all the way
to twenty eight. It feels like a draft where there's
(36:29):
so much misconception and argument over who's who after twenty
that they might just have one of the guys that
they love on their board fall to them. My question
for you, though, is if it is exactly what you
said would happen and they do trade up, is there
a team or two, maybe Pittsburgh at twenty one, or
is there a team an actual spot that you see
(36:51):
the Lions targeting already maybe working on a deal with
what team, what draft pick, and who would be the
guy that you think they'd move up for.
Speaker 14 (37:00):
I think it's twenty two of the Chargers. I think
that twenty two to the I think the Chargers did
at twenty two. I think if their guy gets to
that range, that is going to become too much not
to move up for that player.
Speaker 7 (37:14):
Because if you look at the Lions roster as a whole, what.
Speaker 14 (37:17):
Did they have two spots, you know, interior offensive lineman
and edge rusher defensive lineman, front seven type guy. If
that player is on the board at twenty one twenty two,
I think they could do some serious damage and move
(37:39):
up to get that player.
Speaker 7 (37:41):
That is the range I'm thinking. I think twenty two
is the Chargers.
Speaker 14 (37:44):
Yeah, as you put it back up on the screen,
twenty two is the Chargers. Get in front of the Packers,
maybe get a player that you need. Now, a lot
of people are talking to the Pittsburgh at twenty one.
I'm hearing out here as well, so maybe people want
to get in front of the Steelers draft Shduur Sanders
maybe in that spot. So if they go up to
twenty where the Broncos are, so we'll see what happens.
(38:07):
But I think it's one of those situations where again,
if their guy gets to twenty one, twenty two, I
think you're gonna see a deal done with Jim Harbaugh.
Speaker 5 (38:19):
Right, Chargers, right, who's your guy?
Speaker 7 (38:21):
And Tyler Booker would be Tyler Booker.
Speaker 14 (38:24):
I'm serious. I'm serious this team, and I said this
a couple of years ago. Make what you do, make
what you do great greater. And Frank ragnow is not
getting any younger. Graham Glasgow is not getting any younger.
And yes, Christian Mahogany was a really nice addition to
(38:44):
this team last year, and maybe he is one of
the guys. But you know, lost Kevin's yes, exactly, that's
your guy, Giovanni, Manu, But I think you're the only
guy high on him.
Speaker 3 (39:03):
You're the only guy on him.
Speaker 7 (39:08):
Look, you lost Zeidler.
Speaker 14 (39:09):
Glasgow's a little long in the tooth, and Decker's a
little long in the tooth.
Speaker 7 (39:15):
Rangnows a little long in the tooth.
Speaker 14 (39:17):
If you get one of the best interior offensive linemen
in this draft, if not the best interior offensive lineman
in this draft, I think this just makes what you do.
Speaker 7 (39:27):
Great even greater.
Speaker 14 (39:29):
Because again, guys, if you want this thing to hum
for the next five or six years, you know what
you need your offensive line, and there's gonna be some
significant changes over the next couple of years. And I
do think now I might not be comfortable with it,
but I think the Lions are comfortable with Marcus Davenport
(39:53):
on the other side of Aiden Hutchinson.
Speaker 7 (39:55):
I think they are comfortable with that.
Speaker 14 (39:59):
And and so yeah, it's not to say they're not
gonna draft any edge rushers in this draft, but I
think in the first round, I think they are gonna
go offensive line.
Speaker 7 (40:08):
I really believe that, right, You're gonna trade up to.
Speaker 5 (40:12):
Get him Ryan Yesterday, we uh we toyed with a
trade idea and it's involves one of Maz's favorite players
out there. Jerry Jones two nights ago said that he
covets Jamison Williams, and we know Michaeh. Parsons is maybe
on his way out of Dallas. Could you see a
(40:33):
Micah for Jamo?
Speaker 3 (40:34):
Would you like it? And what do you think it
would take from.
Speaker 5 (40:37):
The Lions along with Jamo to make that deal happen.
Speaker 14 (40:41):
Look, I love Jamison Williams, but he does feel it
does feel like he's the chip, He's the wild card
into all of this because I just don't know if
you're gonna I just don't know if you're gonna spend
seventy million dollars essentially maybe you know, sixty five million
dollars at the wide receiver position. I just don't think
(41:02):
you're gonna do that. So that's where that's where Jamo
becomes expendable. If he's gonna get about thirty to thirty
five million on the open market next year, So are
you paying that? I just I just don't see how
that works. I am not a money guy. I'm not
a cap guy. I'm not a you know, one of THEO.
(41:24):
I'm not a Neil rule like the CAP knows everything
about the Cap. But let me just say this, I
don't think they're gonna pay him more than I'm on
rossint down.
Speaker 7 (41:37):
I just don't see that.
Speaker 3 (41:39):
That's what it's gonna take.
Speaker 14 (41:41):
That's what it's gonna take to pay Jamison Williams. Now,
do they just ride this year out and see what
happens or do they try to make their team better
by trading him away? That is that is why Brad
Holmes makes all that money. That is why he gets
all the love. That's why there's T shirts and say
let Brad cook, and why they don't say let Ryan
(42:04):
or Botty cook?
Speaker 3 (42:06):
That's for sure or me?
Speaker 15 (42:07):
So for me?
Speaker 7 (42:08):
So look, he's the chip.
Speaker 14 (42:10):
He's the one guy that you have that is a
little bit expendable and that other people want.
Speaker 5 (42:21):
Can I chime in on this real quick here? I
know Cody angle Is is rolling his eyes at me again,
not this trade again. But I just put it into
overthecap dot com and the winner, they say is the Cowboys.
This could be a straight up deal. And I know
people think that's wild, but if both regimes or both
you know, ownerships are ready to move on from these guys.
(42:46):
Maybe give up a fourth and make it happen along
with Jamo.
Speaker 7 (42:49):
Yeah, potentially.
Speaker 3 (42:51):
I man, you gotta pay Micah then like they paid Kirby.
They paid Kirby Yesterday's the highest paid safety all time, Ryan,
and you got Brian Brantz next year. Do you think
they draft Brian Branch's replacement today because they can't afford
to safety.
Speaker 2 (43:06):
No.
Speaker 14 (43:06):
I think they will pay Brian Branch. I see that's
where that's right, yep. I think they will pay Brian Branch.
I think they're gonna pay Aiden Hutchinson. They're gonna pay
Jamir Gibbs. And I think I think Laporta and Jamo
are the two guys that that you have that. I'm
not sure you're going to extend those guys. Just something
(43:29):
has to.
Speaker 3 (43:30):
Give, agreed, last thing has to give, last one. I
know you got to get back to the family. I
appreciate you taking the Bears on the table. Oh no,
it's cold already, it's cold.
Speaker 2 (43:41):
Listen.
Speaker 3 (43:42):
I'm afraid of the Bears. You already all guys already
know that. I don't want them getting Ashton Genty. I
do not want them to Ashton Genty. I want the Jacks.
I want the Jags to hold on at four and
take him. But then I'm afraid of the Browns and
Giants trading to the Bears. So the Bears move up
and get them.
Speaker 2 (44:02):
Yeah.
Speaker 14 (44:03):
No, the Bears are not gonna get asked to GenZ.
They're gonna get one of the tight ends, the tight
end from Penn State or Coaston Lovelin.
Speaker 3 (44:10):
I'm scared of that, the tight ends. I don't want
them to get that.
Speaker 14 (44:13):
Maybe well, yeah, I mean Ben Johnson is gonna get
either his Jamior Gibbs or he's gonna get his Sam Laporta.
And the likelihood of getting a Sam Laporta is more
likely than getting easier.
Speaker 3 (44:26):
Yeah.
Speaker 7 (44:26):
Yeah, there's two of those out.
Speaker 3 (44:27):
There, all right, Right, last one here, Pistons nixt tonight,
you're missing the first ever home game at Little Casars Arena.
I know you're in the sun. I know you're in
the sun and all, but this would have been a
fun one for you to do. We've got it made
here in Detroit. We're going to Buddies tonight.
Speaker 5 (44:44):
We have a duel.
Speaker 3 (44:46):
Party tonight, the Draft on one set with a bunch
of guys and the Pissons on the other set with
a bunch of guys. Who do you like Tonight Pissons.
Speaker 14 (44:54):
Or Nicks Pistons by twenty Wow, I think they're gonna
blow out the Knicks tonight.
Speaker 7 (44:59):
I think they're gonna blow out the next Tonight.
Speaker 14 (45:02):
I think the building Tonight little Caesars Arena in.
Speaker 7 (45:05):
The entire playoff.
Speaker 14 (45:07):
Okay, from let's say this, from Game one of Series
one to Game seven of the Eastern Conference Finals or
Western Conference Finals, Tonight's building will be the loudest building
in the NBA playoffs. There will not be a louder
(45:27):
building than tonight throughout the entire NBA Playoffs.
Speaker 7 (45:32):
That place is gonna be.
Speaker 14 (45:34):
It's gonna be an earthquake Tonight and the Knicks, this
is not last year's next team. Last year's next team
might have swept these Pistons this, Yes, this is a
soft next team, doubt, and they're coming in tonight. They're
gonna get punched in the mouth. They are not gonna
know how to react to the Pistons crowd. Tonight, Pistons, Baby,
(45:55):
by twenty or more.
Speaker 3 (45:56):
I love you, love you. I'll see a few days.
Enjoy the family get some more so you don't shave anymore.
Speaker 14 (46:05):
No, hey, look, if you want me on the beach tomorrow,
you got me.
Speaker 7 (46:08):
Okay, just let me know when you need me.
Speaker 3 (46:10):
I got you, I got you, React James on the
top of HEREMANI Edwards and Maz love that guy Fox
too with the nine. I know the girls miss him
in the morning as well. Uh and I know all
the ladies in Detroit and missed it, but they're gonna
love him with his ten chat.
Speaker 5 (46:32):
Make sure you tune in tomorrow for two reasons. A.
I'm bringing in an amazing Grand Finale prize package, but
you're also getting shirtless Beach Ryan tomorrow, which is being
added when you missed the show.
Speaker 3 (46:44):
No, you can't miss it again. Let's go over that package.
What you got tonight, hey, guys, and send it out
to the super chet guys.
Speaker 5 (46:50):
That's right, that's right. I know Eric Shaw came in
with the X Factor tonight. Tim Hardaway steps up big.
I love that prediction, my man. But you've also entered
yourself into the prize pack. You are going to get
a mildly forgotten Nazi Mohammad bobblehead. I'm getting you the
old Detroit Vipers pog disc. There's five of including the
(47:13):
bad ass himself, John Craighead. I got a whole bunch
more cards in here, along with the V Friends Series
two card in commemorating the upcoming May seventh V Friends
Tops Chrome launch. There's gonna be a Braillen Edwards rookie
card in there, and then I know you guys are
very excited. I have spent two hours a couple of
(47:34):
weeks ago, digging out no looking for the best looking
Darren McCarty card that exists. This is not as rookie,
but is that not Darren McCarty in one photo?
Speaker 3 (47:45):
Just it's beaut.
Speaker 5 (47:46):
Across checking and taking someone's life on the ice. It's autographed.
The man, the myth, the legend, mister McCarty. Sign up
for you, and of course you get the Brainlan one
as well. So get those super chats in. We're gonna
be taking them all the way up until three fifty
and then we'll be running that.
Speaker 3 (48:02):
Wheel at oh wheel, Oh fellas, the wheel is starting
to look wheel. You got gott a preview for it.
Speaker 6 (48:10):
I am going to put one together. Give me thirty seconds, take.
Speaker 3 (48:13):
Your time talking again. The draft coming up here. Let's
count it down. It's five hours and ten minutes away, guys,
five hours and ten minutes away. We're four hours and
ten minutes away from tip at Little Caesars Arena. The
Pistons and the Knicks Game three series deadlock that won.
Pisces have led seven quarters out of eight. They had
(48:33):
one bad quarter, they had they had a half a
bad quarter the other night, but they won. So there's
the currently bad quarter. There's there's the preview, the current wheel,
the Pete wheel of death. That's that's what you call
my face, Oh, the old face from the office space. Oh, anyway,
I love that movie.
Speaker 5 (48:54):
You are an encyclopedia of sports. And yeah, I love
my movie.
Speaker 3 (49:00):
Love my fun movies.
Speaker 6 (49:01):
He's a good movies guy.
Speaker 3 (49:02):
Love my fun movies.
Speaker 6 (49:04):
Good movies.
Speaker 3 (49:04):
Hey, I got something for you to watch. Listen. I
don't know how many horse racing fans are out there.
My favorite tops by football above everything. I wish we
had a track here in Michigan. Thank you, Governor Whitmer
and the rest of the great Michigan political team. Big grats. Well,
she wasn't the ruination of it. The guy before her,
(49:24):
the woman before her as well. Yeah whatever. On Netflix.
Race for the Crown six episodes, about thirty five minutes
each episode, maybe forty minutes some of them. It tells you.
It shows you the sport of horse racing from the back.
You see the owners, You see the trainers, the grooms
(49:45):
that take care of the horses. You see how they
get them ready for all these big races. And of
course the biggest races are the Derby and the Belmont Stakes.
That's the Triple Crown. Here in America. They go in
depth with different jockeys. Let me tell you something about jockeys, guys,
they are sure the best athletes in the world, just
like car race short and NASCAR car racers. Ricky, you're
(50:08):
you're a racer, aren't you a car race fan?
Speaker 2 (50:10):
No?
Speaker 3 (50:10):
Not race? How good are these athletes, the jockeys and
the drivers.
Speaker 6 (50:17):
Well, the jockeys have a much difficult, much more difficult
job than the race car drivers do because it is
strength and endurance with the race car drivers also their
eyes and their brains. But the jockeys also being the
same size as most of the Formula one drivers and
the Indy car drivers, they have to control. Eight was
a one thousand pounds animal and it's incredible. And they
(50:39):
start training tom at like four or five years old,
and it's an extremely hard skill to master.
Speaker 5 (50:47):
The next hour we'll be talking cricket. We'll be talking
cricket next hour, maybe across for that. Anyway, Michael dropped
in with ten dollars. The Pistons will win big, led
by Thompson and Holland. But let's get back to the draft.
We got about ten more minutes before the break. He says,
(51:08):
Lions will draft a line and then edge win for
both our teams tonight. Now, let's get back to the
draft here, guys. I like to hear each one of
you guys, yes, would thinks? Yeah, the Lions are gonna
end up with? And who you would like to see
the Lions end up with? And mister laughy laugh over there, Pete,
(51:30):
you're on first. Oh yeah, yeah, you're on you're laughing.
You're on first.
Speaker 3 (51:35):
Who do you want?
Speaker 16 (51:35):
Okay?
Speaker 3 (51:36):
Who they getting?
Speaker 6 (51:37):
Tell you what if they don't trade this pick? If
they don't trade this pick, and I'm going strictly with
trade okay, but if they trade or they.
Speaker 5 (51:46):
Don't trade, who do you want? Who are they getting?
Jeopardy music?
Speaker 6 (51:53):
I'm not gonna.
Speaker 3 (51:54):
I'm not.
Speaker 5 (51:55):
I can't mass there's too many.
Speaker 3 (51:58):
Here's what they're taking, and I said this, I set
it in. We all had to do like our own predictions,
and our guy, Jason's putting it all together for it
right now. I said, they're going to stay at twenty
eight and take the top guy. And I think it's
gonna be an old lineman. And I think it's gonna
be Donovan Jackson, the old lineman from Ohio State that
we will place Taylor Decker eventually. Who I want. I'm
(52:22):
starting to fall for this Donovan isa az Areka azaruka
as Arika. I love the name. I can't pronounce it,
but I love the name, so i'd like him. I
want a defensive end, So that's who I wish. Say
they would go out and get.
Speaker 6 (52:37):
Yeah, that's what I was gonna say.
Speaker 11 (52:38):
I think they're gonna trade up and get a defensive
one of those defensive edge rushers that Bradley was talking
about from Alabama or yeah.
Speaker 9 (52:45):
Did he say Alabama?
Speaker 7 (52:46):
I think it was.
Speaker 3 (52:46):
Yeah, that's all I believe.
Speaker 6 (52:48):
I don't I don't know exactly who.
Speaker 9 (52:49):
I don't really, I'm not.
Speaker 7 (52:50):
It's not a specific person.
Speaker 6 (52:51):
I want so Anson who are you in love with?
Because you you want development?
Speaker 5 (52:56):
I want Derek Harmon and I think the Lions do too.
I think that there is a possibility he makes it
to twenty eight, but I think that he would be
the guy that they would move up for. If it
ends up being held Onto and they're at twenty eight,
I could certainly see an offensive lineman going. Really just
depends which of these defensive front liners are available there.
(53:19):
I've said this for many months now. I don't love
this edge class. I love the early guys, but when
you get into the end of that first round, the
interior defensive lineman kind of like Kenneth Grant. I mean,
there's some tremendous talent there. Ten year anchor of your
defensive line.
Speaker 3 (53:39):
He just retired at fifteen years twice Super Bowl check,
perfect example from Michigan. So yeah, you want one of
those guys?
Speaker 2 (53:45):
Sure?
Speaker 3 (53:45):
Yeah, I would love one of those guys.
Speaker 5 (53:47):
And tomorrow will know who we have. Tomorrow. It's going
to be very, very fun to see if we've traded
back or to start talking about the second and third
and fourth round, because once this first piece is in
place and you see, you know an offensive guard, or
you see an edge or you see a dominant anchor
in the middle of the line. That's going to change
(54:09):
the narrative for all the rest of these picks. I
think that the Lions are going to draft a wide
receiver in the first four rounds as some Jmo insurance.
I don't think Jamo's going anywhere, not this offseason. But
if you can land a good player Higgins out of
Iowa State, guy like that, maybe Tory Horton. If you
(54:30):
can land one of those two guys, it really gives
you a tremendous amount of options into next season for
what you want to do with Jamo.
Speaker 3 (54:37):
Hey, Stephen, thank you for helping me out here. Stephen
Layman on the chat, maz it's a Donovan as aaku
as aku. I love that name. Did he break down
the phonetics too, Yeah he did. He broke down a
fetic very cool, Thank you, Steven. So yeah, that's who
I want because I like the sound of his name.
All right, that's how that's what I like the sound
of his name. He's an defensive lineman. Let's bring him in.
(54:59):
Let's book end them. Hey, look, if you could stay
healthy this year, they're gonna be one of the top
three teams in the NFL. But that's where you could
say basically for a lot of teams, but the Lions,
for sure, you could say that, look what they did.
They won fifteen games last year with half a team,
fifteen games with half a team, and they took it
right to the end. They picked the worst day to
(55:21):
play their worst game. They lost two coaches basically that night,
and it was just a terrible way to finish the season.
I don't ever want to remember that season the way
that ended. I'd rather end it the way we had
the first half in San Francisco two years ago. I
think they have a chance to get back there, and
tonight we'll be the start and see what they can do. Guys,
(55:44):
I keep my fingers crossed for them.
Speaker 5 (55:46):
Yeah, as we're approaching the break here. But I do
want to give you one dark horse name that I
brought up yesterday when we were talking with your guy
from the Athletic. This is a guy that you might
think that the Lions are reaching, but I believe that
this team has no problem reaching for one of those
eighteen or so guys that they believe are the elite
(56:07):
players of this draft, and that's that JT. TOYMLO from
Ohio State. Okay, this is a guy that had tremendous
college production in a black and blue conference, the Big Ten.
I think he would be ready to step in and
contribute to this defensive line immediately. People kind of have
him booked as an early second round pick, But this
(56:28):
is a guy that I think fits what the Detroit
Lions are looking for, not only in ability on the field,
but also.
Speaker 3 (56:36):
Who he would be in Allen Park.
Speaker 5 (56:38):
He's a chemistry guy, he's a production guy, and he
would be ready to come in and contribute immediately.
Speaker 3 (56:43):
Hey man, I'm excited. We're five hours away, hours away
from Commissioner Goodell going to the DAIS and saying the
twenty twenty five NFL Draft is underway from Green Bay.
I think they got beautiful weather. I'm happy for him.
They got beautiful weather. Parking lot at Green Hay will
be filled. Uh yeah, rod Wood threw a little charge
(57:04):
on him the other day and say, yeah, they'll finish
second or third again like they did last year. No
one beats Detroit. We had almost a million people downtown
last year, and boy was that great tonight. We do
it again. We got the Pistons at seven and the
NFL Draft at eight, and we're gonna do both of
those for you at Buddies. But right now before kool
Aid comes on with us. Brandon kool Aid did coming

Speaker 3 (01:03:26):
So stick around, all right, got hey before I send
you out to kool aid for some pistons. Last night
Celtics beat the Magic, Calves over the Heat Rockets beat
the Dubs, all those series deadlocked. At what a piece
there it is? That's a quick around the world with
Pete tonight. You got our game, then you got OKC
and the grizz the Nuggets and the Clippers. OKC looking
(01:03:48):
up to zero Nuggets and Clippers deadlock that one game
a piece? So are we that's right? It's the Pistons
and the Knicks. For that, we go to our Pistons insider,
our reporter, and our morning show Brandon kool Aid that
joins uschool ed. It's your night, my man, It's your night. Finally.
Speaker 9 (01:04:08):
Hey, we're waiting so long for this? Can you guys
hear me? Okay, we hear you?
Speaker 12 (01:04:13):
Great?
Speaker 5 (01:04:13):
He don't.
Speaker 9 (01:04:15):
Man, Look, I'm testing out all of the equipment. Whoa
sports merch got the Woover sports Mike. We're gonna be
getting down to LCA because Detroit already heard.
Speaker 18 (01:04:25):
Detroit is already rocking, man, and I can't wait to
be amongst this environment, the most what important and most
hopeful playoff game we've had since what two.
Speaker 9 (01:04:35):
Thousand and seven, two thousand and eight.
Speaker 3 (01:04:37):
Yeah, I can't wait, man, answered, no doubt.
Speaker 5 (01:04:40):
I mean, Detroit never experienced this. It's all these types
of games. They were always played in Pontiac or or
Auburn Hills. So we talked about a little bit earlier.
You've got your finger on the pulse. It sounds like, well,
we were gifted and blessed with a beautiful day to
be downtown Detroit on any day, But when you have
something like this going on when people are going to
(01:05:02):
be around for the draft, when people are gonna be
down there for Pistons, whether they're going to the game
or not. This is why the Pistons moved down there.
This is why LCA was built. And I know that
it's taken a while, and obviously the Red Wings really
haven't done it, and the Pistons surely haven't done anything.
They haven't want a ball game in the playoffs there yet.
(01:05:23):
But this team is different. The future of this team
is different. We talked can LCA. Can LCA sound and
feel like the Palace did?
Speaker 9 (01:05:36):
Listen?
Speaker 18 (01:05:37):
As you know, we came down the end stretch of
this season, you could begin to feel that that environment,
that environment is gonna get real. When the playoffs came,
it wasn't quite what the Palace was yet, but I
also knew it wasn't quite to what, you know, the
level of what they were playing for either. When you
get the playoff expectations, when fans know they're showing up
(01:05:58):
not just to say that they've been to a playoff
game in LCA, like we did with Blake Griffin, but
you know your team as opportunity to win something and
that everything they're doing right now is another building block
towards what this team could be in the future.
Speaker 9 (01:06:11):
When they went with Blake Griffin and you mentioned it,
they're just a little bit.
Speaker 18 (01:06:15):
I think a lot of fans were appreciative of what
he gave and appreciative that they made it. He got
some honors, but a lot of fans knew that there
wasn't much that we were going to have as fans
and as observers or as media. On the other side
of that, now you have a situation where there's a
lot more hope involved with what's going on with this
Detroit Pissons run, and I think it just changes the
(01:06:36):
complexity of everything for all the vibes that's going on
right now around this team, whether they're going to be
at the game or not. You talked about it. Fans
are starting to really get locked into this thing. It
takes a while to change the trends. Even though we've
seen this team really be one of the better squads
in NBA really for the majority of the season, it
(01:06:57):
took a lot of teams a long time for them
to a lot of fans to get to the point
where they say, you know what, we trust to squad
and I think it definitely sent some shock waves to win.
Speaker 2 (01:07:08):
One game in New York.
Speaker 5 (01:07:10):
You mentioned trends, and I'd like to kind of switch
to our rotation and the Knicks rotation, and the Knicks
have trended in a position where they are giving two
minutes to their starting five. They only got a little
bit of contribution out of campaign in the fourth quarter
of game one. Otherwise we haven't really seen much off
(01:07:31):
of their bench at all. We've seen a shorter rotation
out of JB. Bicker Steph. I expect the chess match
to start hear in game three. I expect Tibbs to
grab somebody from that bench that we're going to see
for maybe the first time. We're a lot more minutes
than we've seen thus far, and I think that we're
also going to see a little bit more of the
Pistons bench. Can you speak on the rotation changes the
(01:07:55):
chess match that we're going to see tonight?
Speaker 18 (01:07:58):
Hey, you know what, Yeah, they have to do something
because in game one where the New York Knicks won,
we saw it was really a lot of their bench. Yes,
Cap had a much better game in game one, but
the names that we remember doing the most crucial points
of that game were names like o J Nobi even
though he's off the bench, but Josh Hart who plays
the most minutes for this team. But you remember Campaign,
(01:08:20):
Mitchell Robinson who went scoreless in Game two, but six
points on three or four shooting in game one. Those
little things make a huge difference, especially when you're talking
about the Detroit Pistons in the second game as things
got a little tight coming down the stretch, what was
one of the biggest differences. Well, Mitchell Robinson and Campaign
and the energy guys who made a big difference in
game one.
Speaker 9 (01:08:40):
They just didn't have it going in Game two.
Speaker 18 (01:08:43):
So yes, you're gonna see, you know, Tibbs have to
do something because right now, we all said this on paper,
the New York Knicks had the more talented playoff lineup
going into the series, but that the Pistons were deeper team.
Speaker 9 (01:08:57):
And I think that that's what the chess matchup is.
Speaker 18 (01:09:00):
Gonna be about, because if you do increase Mitchell Robinson
and the effectiveness we know he can bring physicality into paint, well,
then yet now you're gonna also bring much lower scoring
than the player that he should replace it.
Speaker 9 (01:09:13):
So you know, if the Pistons offense is going from
behind the art.
Speaker 18 (01:09:17):
I don't know the chess, I don't know if I
don't know if Timms has enough pieces right now, I
don't know if he if he has enough pieces that
can move more than one spot right now to really
play with I just believe JB. Bickerstaff he's put this,
he's already stolen home court advantage. And if he's if
he's a coach that's improved upon the narratives of the past.
(01:09:37):
I believe this is one in which you can kind
of see a checkmate coming down the way. But he's
gonna have to make sure from a strategy standpoint, they
never go through stretches like they did starting at that
eight forty seven mark in the fourth quarter of Game one.
He has to be able to engineer something, some type
of points and some type of stops. And I do
believe that the Pistons are infirmly in a drive receive coolated.
Speaker 5 (01:10:01):
Everybody in Detroit wants to know there's beef still playing tonight.
Speaker 9 (01:10:06):
Goodness special.
Speaker 18 (01:10:07):
I just reached out to some of my contacts down
in the Pistons world and they told me he's still
questionable right now, something could change, So I'm gonna keep
my ear close to it so as soon as we
hear something, we can get that news out on socials.
And uh, if you guys are still going on, I'll
make sure that you guys have that news to so
so that you can get our audience updated as well.
(01:10:28):
But currently they do believe, hey, you know what, they
can ride the wave of Game three, all the energy
of the first home playoff game.
Speaker 9 (01:10:37):
There of some real you.
Speaker 18 (01:10:39):
Know, this thing has some real expectation, and so they
do believe that they can go in and handle business tonight,
especially if you get Ka Cunningham, whom the New York
Knicks they still they still have no solution for you know,
bless old Jiananoby's heart. That boy is having nightmares to
already talk about they're doing legal things to keep me
off of K CUNNYA. No, K cunning In has just
(01:11:00):
been working you for a few years now in the league,
oh gen mean. And then the Pistons have confidence that
they can play behind their star in K Cunningham stout
defense and and hopefully taking care of the ball and
not giving them too many extra opportunities. As it relates
to turnovers.
Speaker 3 (01:11:16):
Hey man, I want you to do a favor for
me tonight. I'm gonna be there. I'm gonna join you,
but I want you to look for I want you
to look for Ashley Nicole Moss. Do you know who
Ashley Nicole Moss is't? Yeah, she's a New York Knicks reporter.
And Pete's gonna tune up this. It's gonna take a minute,
(01:11:36):
but I'm gonna play the cut for you in the meantime,
I would I just want to talk to you about
the home field advantage, the home court advantage. The first
time the Pistons, first time there's a playoff game at
Little Seasons Arena. You guys are gonna be there early.
You're gonna be out in the courtyard. You're gonna be
in the Chevy. I don't know what it's called that.
It's called the Chevy Courtyard. Ye Plaza. They're gonna change
that name. And we've all had so many names thrown
(01:11:59):
out at us. We've had the factory, we've had the
assembly line, we've had the horse power parked, the stable,
all that. You have a name for me that you.
Speaker 5 (01:12:08):
Could think of for that, because we got it. They
got Jurassic Park in Toronto.
Speaker 6 (01:12:12):
Horsepower Plaza.
Speaker 3 (01:12:13):
We need something here, put Pete says, horse Power Plaza.
What do you like here for for our new for
our new home.
Speaker 9 (01:12:20):
Oh goodness, gracious, I don't know, man, shout out trick trick.
Speaker 18 (01:12:24):
Maybe the no flies on Leo Bill Waller see Wallace
and everything they brought from a defensive standpoint, and we
see him right now. It's a no flies on man
only only only the real, uh is what we recognize
everything else as.
Speaker 3 (01:12:37):
An outside That's fine, man, Hey, is it a sellout?
If it's not a sellout, it's I know it's still
gonna be loud, But is it a sellout?
Speaker 7 (01:12:47):
Oh?
Speaker 18 (01:12:47):
I'm hearing that it's effectively as close as we can
get to that. There are still some opportunities for you
to get into the building and watch and cheer on
the Detroit Bishons against the Knicks. But I'm hearing that
this is gonna be one of those games where you
walk in and it's a different feeling than any of
the other games you've experienced over the last three or
four years.
Speaker 5 (01:13:06):
All right, you mean thirteen or fourteen years.
Speaker 3 (01:13:10):
Yeah, I am ready.
Speaker 18 (01:13:12):
I am ready for this game as it relates to
the interactions that we're gonna do with the fans on
the concourse, what we do down court side, and things
of that nature.
Speaker 9 (01:13:21):
I already told people like an.
Speaker 18 (01:13:23):
Aspect of professionalism might be thrown out and just get
with the hype with the fans, because it's been a
long time for this, a very very.
Speaker 9 (01:13:32):
Very long time.
Speaker 18 (01:13:32):
There's been a whole generation of Detroit Pistons fans who've
never even seen a meaningful playoff game until tonight. And
so it's gonna be a party in Detroit. We know
we got the draft going on. We know there's gonna
be draft parties in the city. You know the Pistons
are getting going at four o'clock at that Chevrolet Plaza. Uh,
it's gonna be time to turn up in Detroit.
Speaker 3 (01:13:51):
Can't wait, man, cannot wait. Uh, it's gonna be. It's
gonna be. Let I know you guys will be out
there representing the Pistons. Have something going with the city Detroit.
What are they gonna do? Light the city up in blue?
Right though? All the city buildings are gonna be blue, red, white,
and blue. The train station is gonna be red, white
and blue. It is gonna look great downtown tonight. We
(01:14:11):
got a gorgeous night. I wish they were playing this
game outside. That's how pretty this game is. Man, and
I think they should give Isaiah Thomas Isaiah Stewart the
night off. There it is. There's a video the Pistols
put out. Check out what Detroit's gonna look like tonight.
Fellas and the Tigers did us a favor. They took
the night off. They played yesterday. They knocked off the
(01:14:32):
the best team in baseball supposedly with their record, the
San Diego Padres, and took the day off. They have
the Orioles tomorrow, so we got the night to ourselves.
You know, Comerica Park will be lit up in red
and blue as well. Man, Pete, you got that sound
yet I couldn't get.
Speaker 7 (01:14:50):
This.
Speaker 9 (01:14:50):
Ask you about the CBS reporter, are you yes?
Speaker 3 (01:14:53):
The the CBS reporter he heard it that basically said
Little Seasons Arena. Oh that's cute. That's what she said.
She says, the knick zig of the take back home court.
One of these two games you got tonight at seven
Sunday at one o'clock, So I want you to look
for Ashley and the cool Moss she is a very
pretty young lady. By the way, I will give her
(01:15:15):
that and tell her that she's wrong about Detroit.
Speaker 2 (01:15:19):
We're hungry.
Speaker 3 (01:15:20):
We're hungry, man, We're hungry.
Speaker 9 (01:15:24):
I agree, listen, man, that's the one component of it.
Speaker 18 (01:15:27):
It's as if people forget you know, Red Wings fans
they travel everywhere, Lions fans they travel starting here, Tigers
fans traveling everywhere. Do they not understand that those are
the same fans that support the Detroit Pistons. Do they
not understand that those are the same ones who sold
out LCA to the tune of a historic street over
(01:15:49):
two hundred and seventy something sellouts, even though I know
not every single game was an official sellout.
Speaker 9 (01:15:55):
We understand how Detroit gets down.
Speaker 18 (01:15:57):
Do they not understand he's just the same fans who
set the record just a year ago for the NFL Draft,
And now you have an opportunity to go out here
and really change the narrative, really play the most important,
one of the most important roles that you can as
a fan for your Detroit Pistons. And over seventeen years, well,
you know what, if she didn't know before, she definitely will.
(01:16:19):
And I saw Richard Hamilton in that clip.
Speaker 9 (01:16:21):
It was kind of funny.
Speaker 18 (01:16:22):
His reaction was almost just like this part girls, you
really don't know what's about to go down in Detroit
because fans with an opportunity, with a license now to
cut up.
Speaker 2 (01:16:31):
Why are we not?
Speaker 18 (01:16:33):
Of course we're gonna cut up. Of course we are
a can already feel that the atmosphere. You guys already
know what woo. We're in the all company, all in.
We had yesterday to get prepared for full day of coverage.
Everybody's electric. I'm already having different people tag me online
say that they can't wait to meet up and get
this interaction in and get the content done.
Speaker 9 (01:16:51):
I know the heavies, they are already in motion. They're
already are on the way and they're gonna turn up
several applies.
Speaker 18 (01:16:57):
And then we got buddies watch parties tonight like it's
it's already a good day. And then the city of
Detroit decided, let's turn up a little bit more and
make it eighty three degrees.
Speaker 3 (01:17:07):
Hey cool, Hey, before we let you go, Pete's got something.
Speaker 6 (01:17:11):
I'm jumping in here kool aid, and I got something
you talk about at barcade when you came to visit
me in the pinball league. This is the example. This
is just a small example of what I was talking
about before, how the national media doesn't give a flying
Houcci cou about the freaking Detroit Pistons or any Detroit
(01:17:31):
sports Ever since I was a little kid with actual hair,
all they have done was bash Detroit. How can we
beat Detroit? When the Red Wings were winning back in
the day, ESBN found some way to We're going to
start with the Red Wings story for five minutes.
Speaker 3 (01:17:45):
And then go away.
Speaker 6 (01:17:46):
But if the New York Rangers or anything else, any
of your big teams win, it's like a half hour story.
So you know what, forget this Moss lady, forget all
these other people. I said again to remember what I
said to you a barcade. I don't like the new
slogan act to work bad again.
Speaker 1 (01:18:01):
Now.
Speaker 6 (01:18:02):
I understand the Pistons can't put out the bad again
think because the referees will be all over them. But
you know, forget this national media stuff. Play the bad
guy role, enjoy pissing everybody off. Kool aid? Your response, bro.
Speaker 9 (01:18:16):
And what else did you say that night? What else
did you say that night?
Speaker 6 (01:18:20):
Which you remember with no which one which, because I
said a lot. Make them bleed, that's right. Put the
blood on the court, baby, make them bleed, push them
off the boards. I want to see blood on the court.
Speaker 9 (01:18:32):
Let's go hold that pete.
Speaker 15 (01:18:34):
I'm all for that, man.
Speaker 18 (01:18:35):
Because the physicality is what's making the New York Knicks uncomfortable.
You see exactly what it's doing the Conthony Towns and
you look at several of the games and the Pistons
have won this year against the New York Knicks. Where's
Cat been in the fourth quarter? Very very uncomfortable. The
physicality gets to them. And when the Pistons are the
ones hustling, and when the Pistons are the first ones
diving on the ball for the loo or for the
(01:18:55):
loose balls, or you know, when the Pistons are limiting
the second chance opportunities the Knicks look at it. The
Bisons had several players of double figures rebound. You look
at the Knicks side of that thing, and it was
a struggle fast, including Cat, who had to believe six
rebounds in that game. So now you're keeping him in
a position to where he's not able to grab a
defensive rebound. And start the break and feel a little
(01:19:16):
comfortable he's not getting the offensive rebound and putting it
back up and feeling comfortable and starting to do all
his gy rating.
Speaker 5 (01:19:22):
And all that.
Speaker 18 (01:19:22):
We didn't see him dancing. We didn't see campaign dancing
and all that type of stuff. And I do believe
this because the Pistons were pissed that they dropped one.
They turned up that level of physicality. You saw them
being the first ones dived on the floor. You saw
them being the ones forcing shot clot violations rather than
the other way around. And I believe that made the
Knicks uncomfortable. So Pete, I'm with you, bro, baby, make
(01:19:43):
them believe.
Speaker 5 (01:19:44):
Let's wear that cat out the mission. So far, so
good now, he said, new to the cat, that's right.
So we we did talk to Ryan before we had
you on. He likes the Pistons. By twenty tonight, I'm
holding it to the fire here. What is your prediction
(01:20:05):
for game three? Game pain for me?
Speaker 9 (01:20:08):
I said earlier.
Speaker 18 (01:20:09):
I was say, I'm looking for one to fourteen one
oh seven victory for the Pistons, where it's one where
you could tell they could have kept maybe the Knicks
closer to one hundred points and really balloon this to
will blowout.
Speaker 9 (01:20:20):
But foules late, you know, a non consequential three late
from the Knicks. Things like that.
Speaker 18 (01:20:27):
They just slow the game down towards the end of it.
In the Pistons, though they close it down. K Cunnyham
at the free throw stripe is making sure they hit
everything as the Knicks continue to try and extend this game.
But I do I believe it's gonna be one in
which the Pistons defense running back K Cunningham runs it back.
But your Vets they show up a little bit more
in game two like they are in game three tonight,
(01:20:49):
like they did in game one, to give you more
of a little bit of a balance. Game one was
more or less the Vets who who had going Game
two was K Cunningham and Schroeder. In this game, I
think you get a little mix of everybody in and
it gives a Pistons a balance that the Knicks just
can't quite recover from the Pistons is gonna.
Speaker 9 (01:21:06):
Win this thing once again? One fourteen one on seven.
Speaker 3 (01:21:09):
I think Beasley and uh Hardaway Junior, that's their night tonight.
They took game two off, they're back on tonight. Pistons
are gonna win it tonight. I don't care if they
win by one or one hundred, as long as they win.
Kool Aid, we'll see you tonight.
Speaker 16 (01:21:23):
Yeah.
Speaker 18 (01:21:23):
And I saw Timmy. I saw Tim hardaway. You know,
he was walking around it in downtown Birmingham. He was
getting some food.
Speaker 2 (01:21:31):
He was locked in.
Speaker 3 (01:21:33):
I agree with you.
Speaker 9 (01:21:33):
Man has a game tonight.
Speaker 3 (01:21:35):
It's their game. Man, it's home home cooking tonight. Man,
let's go cooking. Let's go seeing. I'll see you a
couple of hours in the blood. I'll see you in
a couple hours, my man.
Speaker 6 (01:21:48):
Bring the blood.
Speaker 9 (01:21:48):
Let's go.
Speaker 1 (01:21:49):
Man.
Speaker 9 (01:21:49):
I'm about to leave here yet in about a hour.
Speaker 3 (01:21:51):
All right, brother Brandon kool Aid Dent the morning show host.
Of course, our Pistons Insider Woodward Pistons. Uh, we're gonna
all be there, guys. I hope to see you guys
down at the plaza. And of course we're going to
see you at Buddies. Two watch parties in one freaking night.
We got the Draft on one end, we got the
Pistols on the other end. We're all gonna be there tonight,
(01:22:12):
eating pizza, having a couple of pops, and enjoying ourselves.
I said, pops, Pete, it's a soda pops for you.
I will say pop for you. All right, guys, we
got our Pistons in, we got our NBA in. It's
back to the draft, all right, And I want to
break some drafts down for you. There's been a lot
(01:22:32):
of mock drafts. I want to give you the three
guys that I trust the most. Let's put up Peter
Schrager's draft. First, Pete, Peter Schrager, now with ESPN, formerly
of NFL Network. He has got cam Ward going first,
No shocker, He's got the Jags. Excuse me, he's got
Travis Hunter going to the Browns. That one's Jared. I'm sorry,
(01:22:56):
it's okay, take it easy. I'll dual Carter to the Giants,
Will Campbell to the Patriots, and as a lot of
people have Will Campbell out of there, that's a there
you go, Pete. He's got Aston gent D five to
the Jags. Let's go to twenty eight. He's got Will Johnson.
Will Johnson going to the Lions. What are you thinking of,
(01:23:18):
Peter Schrager? Mock draft? There, Hansen.
Speaker 5 (01:23:21):
I love Wolverines after they leave ann Arbor. I got
no problem with that. I think that everybody in Detroit
would be happy with that. Hey, if you've got lockdown corners,
you don't have to have amazing edge rushers. You don't
have to worry as much about your defensive line because
(01:23:42):
they're creating more time for your guys up front. Will
would fit right in here. Obviously. All of the corn
and Blue fans would be ecstatic. I'd be ecstatic too. Again,
I don't need to fill holes on this team because
there aren't really any. And I believe that this administry
does not feel like they need to phill holes either.
(01:24:03):
If a guy like Will Johnson's on the board at
twenty eight, yeah you draft him.
Speaker 3 (01:24:07):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (01:24:08):
Period.
Speaker 3 (01:24:08):
I'm afraid so, I don't think you're afraid of that.
Speaker 5 (01:24:11):
I'm not afraid of that.
Speaker 7 (01:24:12):
I know.
Speaker 3 (01:24:13):
But you have we have the best secondary in the league.
But you have corners, you have safeties. But you listen,
you don't need that great of corners and safeties when
you're rushing the passer. The problem is poor Terry and
Arnold got hung out to dry last year because we
couldn't rushed the passer. After Aiden Hutchinson was hurt if
(01:24:34):
you rush the passer. If Themale fan Wou would have
been a fine guy in the backfield. He's not here
now he's with the Dolphins. I think that's a mistake.
But I get that off my chest for the thirtieth time.
But you drafted guys, You got your you got your
corner back. You let Carlton Davis walk, and you got
d what's his name now, dj Reed?
Speaker 5 (01:24:55):
Dj Ree?
Speaker 3 (01:24:56):
There you go. Dj Ree is now in a safety.
But it's fine. If you rush the passer, the secondary's
gonna look awesome.
Speaker 5 (01:25:04):
Who's your number one corner?
Speaker 3 (01:25:07):
My number one corner is on the team now?
Speaker 5 (01:25:09):
Is And how tall is he?
Speaker 3 (01:25:11):
He's small?
Speaker 5 (01:25:11):
And haven't you been complaining about that?
Speaker 7 (01:25:13):
I have?
Speaker 5 (01:25:14):
Is is Terry On ready to be number one?
Speaker 3 (01:25:18):
He's ready to be one?
Speaker 5 (01:25:19):
B Okay, is Will Johnson the de facto one?
Speaker 3 (01:25:22):
I don't know he played it so long?
Speaker 5 (01:25:24):
Sure, come on. He missed a few games at the
end of the season. He missed a half seasons. But
we know who this guy is. And to me, if
he was drafted to the Lions, he would come.
Speaker 3 (01:25:34):
In and be able to assert himself as that number one.
Speaker 5 (01:25:37):
And now you look at Terry on not being forced
and asked to be that number one. I know DJ
Reid is being paid to be that number one, and
we still don't even know who rakestraw, right, But this
kind of a draft, and again, I know everybody wants edge,
but it comes down to Dan and Brad's philosophy and
they have a short list of guys that they think
(01:26:00):
should only be drafted with that number one pick. I
would guarantee you that Will Johnson is on that list. Now,
if Derek Harmon and Will Johnson are still there, we've
got a decision to make, all right. But just like
people cried and complained over Jamir Gibbs getting drafted because
we had Jamal Williams and DeAndre Swift exit, it's the
(01:26:21):
same deal. You get the studs and if they've done
their work and that guy slips, hey, he's gonna be
in holloween Blue.
Speaker 3 (01:26:29):
Chris collins Worth from Pro Football Focus, that's his place,
that's his thing. Of course, he is the voice of
Sunday Night Football Long with Mike Turrico. I know he
gets on a lot of people's nerves, but he knows
as players and he put out his last his only
mock draft he's got cam Ward, Travis Hunter, ab Dul
Carter armand Mabou going to the Patriots and Ashton Jenny.
(01:26:51):
That's right. He's got the Bears moving up and I
think they move up, yes, I do. And they got
Ashton Jenny going to him at number twenty eight. He's
got the lineans sitting pretty and taking North Dakota State tackle.
Great name, Gray's Abel. I don't know how good he's is.
A lot of people say he's really really good, but
he wasn't defended against Alabama and Georgia and Michigan and
(01:27:14):
Ohio State. But I'm sure he'd fit the bill at
twenty eight. If he slips the twenty eight, A lot
of teams like him earlier than that.
Speaker 5 (01:27:23):
I love that pick as well. You know, you look
back and two years ago this was a top three offense.
Jama only had three hundred yards that year. You look
at what these guys can do, and it all is
predicated on the push up front by the offensive lineman.
So what they're going to need to do is just
continue to keep bringing in young guys. You saw what
(01:27:44):
you know Mahogany contributed last year. There's high hopes from
maneu and if you bring in another guy like this,
it gives you options with a couple of the aging
offensive linemen that we have. Again, if it's offensive lineman,
if it's corner, if it's wide receiver, even I just
trust these guys so implicitly that I'm not worried what
(01:28:06):
position it is.
Speaker 3 (01:28:07):
That they draft. Our man Matt Broder on the chat
Thanks Matt. He says cornerbacks are injured all the time,
freaking Vildor, who I like, by the way, played way
too much last two seasons. You run to the podium
if a blue chipper like that is there at twenty eight.
I'm with you, man, I'm with you. I'm just I
don't want to draft that. I already have a strength
(01:28:28):
thin that's the only thing. But of course, if he's there,
maybe I ask another team if they want to move
up and grab him. Maybe I do that, because I
just don't think you need an extra guy there. I
think they've signed like six or seven guys cornerbacks and
safeties in the offseason. That's the only thing that keeps
me away from that Gritville USA five from him or her.
(01:28:51):
Let's f LFG back to work. Pistons and gritty Lyons.
You almost got him. We got made in the USA.
All our stars need to show out tonight, hit Man,
where are you? Matter of fact, he put it there
twice for that last mock draft. I'm gonna show you
is the guy I really trust the most, and it's
Daniel Jeremiah NFL Network. Move the chains, that's his deal.
(01:29:14):
He's got cam Ward, Travis Hunter, ab Dual Carter, He's
got Will Campbell to New England, Aston genty at five
to Jacksonville. If you go down the way the Bears are,
He's got Tyler Warren, the tight end from Penn State.
The Lions at twenty eight, taking the guy that I
threw out there earlier, Donovan Jackson, the tackle from Ohio
(01:29:36):
State had an injury. Perfect right, He's a perfect guy
for the Lions.
Speaker 7 (01:29:42):
There you go.
Speaker 5 (01:29:43):
I gotta be honest with you. Some of the names
that you see after twenty eight ste some of the
guys that are available going into the second round. I'm
not sure that we're going to see this team move
up to draft a guy unless they're really really in love.
It seems like there's gonna be three to five targets
that I feel would be on their list when they're
(01:30:04):
drafting a twenty eight. I do want to shout out
Michael DeVries with all respect to Fox too. I'm gonna
edit this one a little bit. LCA has been like
the thirsty human that hasn't gotten.
Speaker 3 (01:30:17):
Any for eight years and ten nights the night.
Speaker 5 (01:30:21):
I couldn't agree more.
Speaker 6 (01:30:22):
Michael, would you like to take a look at the
current status?
Speaker 5 (01:30:26):
By the way we hop back from the break, We'll
let you know what the what's going on with the wheel?
You got I nineteen minutes?
Speaker 3 (01:30:33):
Yeah, to get back in this today.
Speaker 5 (01:30:36):

be world famous, but they're not. Our housemade vinagrette is
one of those things, and the ant Aposta salad we
drizzle it over. Same with our hand battered chicken genders,
original recipe soups and pasta sauces. It's almost as if
our original, world famous Detroit style pizza is mocking them,

We're looking forward to it, guys, serving down man.
Speaker 3 (01:36:00):
Four minutes left.
Speaker 5 (01:36:01):
In this show.
Speaker 3 (01:36:02):
Three hours and twenty four minutes.
Speaker 5 (01:36:04):
Left to the Pistons, oh and fourteen minutes left to
get back on that wheel.
Speaker 3 (01:36:09):
We're looking for a few more super chats. Listen, guys,
I want to play a couple of sound bites for
a youar football wise. I want to play a little
something telemarketer. No, I don't want to listen to you, Okay,
I want to just a couple of mentions here. The
Bears yesterday lost a member of their family. The NFL
lost a member of its family. Bless and I want
(01:36:31):
to throw it out there. It's Mongo, Steve McMichael. He
passed away at the age of sixty seven. Mongo was
a beast. He's a Hall of Famer. They just inducted
him last year while he was literally in his hospital
bed with his family around him. He's been suffering from
als for a while now, and he fought it to
the end. He wanted to wait and see if he
(01:36:52):
got into the Hall of Fame. He did. So many
people love this guy. Jared Payton, of course, Walter's son
was there with him. And you know, there's so many
people that I say so many great things about Steve McMichael.
He was a character, and I remember as a baseball fan,
I remember him getting up at Wrigley Field to do
the seventh inning stretch with Harry Carrey and he takes
(01:37:13):
the mic. He does the whole thing. Whish I could
play it for.
Speaker 6 (01:37:15):
You, right, and then he yells at Angel Hernandez and
Angel Hernandez the home plate umpire whoeveryone hates.
Speaker 3 (01:37:23):
He says, Angel, when you're gonna get some of these calls?
Speaker 12 (01:37:26):
Right?
Speaker 3 (01:37:26):
Angel was so mad pointing up to him, get him
out of here.
Speaker 5 (01:37:30):
He was trying to throw Mango out mongol edge of
him on.
Speaker 3 (01:37:34):
This guy was a laugh man, but you didn't want
to be on the end of a tackle from Steve McMichael.
I don't know how many of you guys in the
chat remember from the eighty five Super Bowl Bears, but
he was something. He was one of a kind and
he fought it to the end. Man als. It could
be the worst, it could be the worst disease that
(01:37:54):
he could ever get.
Speaker 5 (01:37:56):
Yeah, it's rest in peace.
Speaker 6 (01:37:58):
He's also a member of our There is talk about
making him a member of the WWE Hall of Fame.
I know you guys aren't big into wrestling, but he
was a member of the Four Horsemen and a very
good wrestler back in the day. So it's not like
there's just talk going on about making him a member
of that as well.
Speaker 3 (01:38:15):
That's awesome. I hope you would get in that. Obviously
it would be without him knowing. Well, he'd know he's
in heaven. Yep, his wife would know and his family
would know.
Speaker 5 (01:38:23):
Uh.
Speaker 6 (01:38:23):
I agree.
Speaker 3 (01:38:23):
Here's another guy, one of my favorites. It's Baker Mayfield.
Baker Mayfield, you know, has been up and down, up
and down, and he said because he found God and
God saved his marriage and his career. Amen, listen to
Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 19 (01:38:40):
My identity at the time was a football player. It
was it was a quarterback, and I thought I could
carry that. I was like, oh, I've done this, walked on,
I did this.
Speaker 16 (01:38:51):
I did that.
Speaker 19 (01:38:53):
Fast forward a couple of years into my NFL career,
God taught me a lesson. He had to take take
my career down to the studs and make me realize
that I'm more than a football player. It's there's much
more going on in the game of football. And for
me to see that, I had to hit rock bottom
(01:39:14):
and that was it. Wasn't just football, it was in
our marriage. We weren't doing well at all at this time.
We were trying to have kids, wasn't going well, and
so that was when we dove into po But I
remember a couple of years ago we talked about there's
there's that ninety nine percent of you that you can
put on facade as a guy.
Speaker 16 (01:39:35):
You put on the mask, but behind closed doors, who
are you really? What are you hiding?
Speaker 19 (01:39:39):
Are you being vulnerable? And until my career got stripped down,
I was hiding a lot. And then for me to
climb back up, I had to dive into the word
and accept the grace.
Speaker 16 (01:39:55):
And that was something that was really really hard for me.
Speaker 19 (01:39:58):
And when I've eventually did, I started to see things
from a different viewpoint.
Speaker 16 (01:40:03):
And that was the biggest change in my life.
Speaker 19 (01:40:05):
And that's a couple of years ago, and I think
the best part that I've learned throughout the process. It's
constant work. It's not like you just get baptized and
you're saved. You have to continue to work because the
enemy is out to get you. And that's what I
thought that Okay, once I achieved something, I can just
move on. Now this is something that has to be
part of the daily routine and you have to make
(01:40:25):
your priorities aligned with that. And so that's it's been
a journey, but it all happened for a reason, and
God's timing was perfect where Tampa feels like home for
me now, but that's because of what I built the
foundation on.
Speaker 3 (01:40:40):
That's my guy. That's my guy. And if Cleveland never
got rid of him, if they held on Yes, it's
like fantasy football, right, fantasy baseball. I dropped resouls to
last week? What did he do yesterday? He went seven
and a third, seven strikeouts, no runs, three hits. When
you drop guys, they gave up on him. Cleveland gave
(01:41:00):
up on him. He took him to the playoffs. Guys,
he gave up on him. They signed, They signed to
Shaun Watson. The rest is history goes to Tampa Bay
turns that team, keeps them going.
Speaker 13 (01:41:11):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:41:11):
It works out with Todd Bowles and him gets him
to the playoffs a couple of times, and he is
he is the real deal. If you ask me, I agree,
we're number one overall pick I agree.
Speaker 5 (01:41:22):
I want some money on him because I believed he
was going to go number one when everybody was talking about.
Speaker 3 (01:41:26):
Rosen or Darnold.
Speaker 5 (01:41:28):
But having watched the Lions franchise ruined careers up until
Dan and Brad not here, that's what Cleveland has been doing.
To be honest with you, I personally feel that if
he had stayed there, we would have never seen this
Baker Mayfield.
Speaker 3 (01:41:45):
Maybe yeah, maybe he said all those commercials, Progressive Insurance.
Speaker 5 (01:41:53):
The stadium, it was, it was, It was really good.
Always been a Baker guy.
Speaker 3 (01:41:57):
I love the guy, love him to always did.
Speaker 6 (01:41:59):
I do have some news.
Speaker 3 (01:42:00):
It was a little flag planner, right, it's a little old.
Speaker 6 (01:42:02):
I'm so sorry, but I do want to know. I
didn't put in the chat that Shannon Sharp is stepping
aside from his ESPN duties.
Speaker 3 (01:42:08):
Yeah. Man, he's in big trouble. Guy.
Speaker 5 (01:42:13):
This one's gonna end up going.
Speaker 6 (01:42:15):
He's in big trouble.
Speaker 3 (01:42:16):
You know what he'll do if he's not gonna be
on national TV, He'll just get a big podcast. He
already has one, Yeah, and then he'll that's what he'll
make us.
Speaker 2 (01:42:23):
Right.
Speaker 3 (01:42:23):
Unfortunately, uh, these it happened. This girl wanted his scalp, right,
she wanted She didn't want ten million, she wanted his scalp.
Now she's gonna get at least ten million, I agree,
and get him kicked off TV.
Speaker 5 (01:42:39):
It sounded to me like she didn't want his baby,
and well, he didn't want to have a baby.
Speaker 3 (01:42:46):
He didn't want to have protected sex exactly. But he
did something other than her. Yeah, you understand what he did.
I mean, if you guys read, you'll know what he
did to her. What she said, Oh no, no, no,
don't do that, right, don't do that. And he did
that and that's why she said no means no, and
that's why she said it's a rate. And here we are.
Speaker 5 (01:43:06):
Yeh, we're posting movement. Man, you can't be playing those games.
But I know that we do have Doc coming in
here in just a second. So I want to remind
everybody in the chat you got five minutes to get

get doctor Jeff Pierson with us. Keep it right here.
Speaker 6 (01:43:56):

We are coming up to the top, folks, and you
know it. The NFL Draft is coming at eight. The
Pistons tip off at seven. Right now, We're gonna tip
it off with our favorite guy on every Thursday, doctor
Jeff Pierce, our Woodward Sports Injury inside of Michigan Sports
and Spine in Lavonia. What's up, Doc? You're in Nashville.
Speaker 15 (01:46:32):
I'm right outside in Nashville. How are you all doing?
Speaker 3 (01:46:35):
We're doing good, man? So are you not here to
enjoy this ninety degree eighty degree day with us here
in Detroit? But we got some things going, Doc? How
could you not be here for the Pistons game?
Speaker 15 (01:46:45):
How you know?
Speaker 20 (01:46:47):
I had this schedule a month ago and the Pistons
were questionable who they are gonna play?
Speaker 15 (01:46:53):
But they're gonna win. Tonight. We'll have another game. I'll
be at the next.
Speaker 3 (01:46:56):
One Sunday, Sunday at one o'clock on the A one.
Will be there all right, right? Man, good man, Hey,
I want to ask you about a guy, Isaiah Stewart.
He tweaked his knee last Saturday in at the Garden,
went out for the last ten minutes of the game.
We have not heard if he's going to be played.
Still questionable tonight. What does a strained knee feel like
(01:47:17):
for a big man like beef Stoop.
Speaker 20 (01:47:20):
Yeah, I mean they keep calling it inflammation. We're not
talking about a tear. So it's mostly good news. And
it's the pressure that he has. I think kind of
from a coaching standpoint. They won Game two and he
needs a little bit more rest, so maybe to get
him strong for games for Sunday. I mean all the
news right now today, and he's unlikely to play tonight.
Speaker 15 (01:47:41):
You know, he's coming off the bench.
Speaker 20 (01:47:42):
But a guy like that with a knee that just
isn't gonna pull them up or be able to brace
well against Towns and the other players down inside in
the rebounding, it may be best decision to give him
a couple more days of rest and see if we
can give you better. You know, I love everybody's talking
about to see sauce. Yeah, he may need a little
extra secret sauce to get him there. But the problem
(01:48:05):
is he rested those last two games, try to go
for Game one and ended up coming out early and
missing game two.
Speaker 15 (01:48:12):
So the good news is it's had the MRI.
Speaker 20 (01:48:15):
If they were gonna tell us there was a little
bit more of the inflammation, there is a tear. I know,
we went over the anatomy before with the crucie ligaments
and the meniscus, which are the.
Speaker 15 (01:48:24):
Most important parts, and the collaterals.
Speaker 20 (01:48:26):
Those seem to all all be intact, but irritation and
bruising and swelling can cause enough discomfort that you can't
really kind of get that step, you know, especially with
the change of directions and the leverage that you need
for the game of you know, the NBA playoffs, which
is definitely different than the regular season.
Speaker 5 (01:48:45):
Hey, doc, I'm gonna shift to the draft here a
little bit. We talked about a guy land in Jackson,
a guy that could be in play for the Detroit Lions.
I'm looking at his background ACL tear, ankle fracture, acial surgery,
another ankle injury, ankle injury, undisclosed, injury, hit pointer, neck injury,
(01:49:06):
perfect cussion. I guess my question, I don't want you
to break down to him. But when it comes down
to drafting guys, the lines have not been afraid to
take guys that are coming off injury or are currently injured.
My question for you is the label of injury prone.
Speaker 3 (01:49:25):
How true is this?
Speaker 5 (01:49:27):
How many times do you have guys that just can't
stay out of your office? Or is it more of
maybe being at a school that doesn't have a great
strength and conditioning department doesn't have the perfect staff of
doctors to diagnose what's going on. How much is injury
prone a real thing in football?
Speaker 20 (01:49:47):
So injury prone is usually used for people that don't
make it to the next level, right because you are
You're either there's a couple of reasons for injury prone.
I don't know which direction you want to go, but
if we go to the it kind of describes a
little bit of a softer athlete, you know, like what
you're doing there. You can't be soft with an ACL
injury and ankle fracture. Those are things. Then you start
(01:50:10):
talking about is it strength and conditioning? How well are
they being prepared, What are they doing to get ready
for the game?
Speaker 15 (01:50:16):
Are they taking it serious?
Speaker 20 (01:50:17):
Are they coming in like a you know, like a
bull in a china shop type of type of thing.
So you have a whole bunch of different reasons that
kind of muscle down to injury prone. So you've kind
of covered a good branch of it. But what does
it mean at our level? At our level means you know,
Kenny have you know, we start talking about medical workups.
(01:50:40):
Like Cronwell was the biggest thing when he got hurt
like three times in one year with his bones.
Speaker 15 (01:50:45):
He had a fracture.
Speaker 20 (01:50:47):
You know, Cronwell was out there, he was the hardest
hitter for a long time for the Red Wings on
the ice and he had like little bone bruises, boom fractures.
And we got down, you know, I got involved where
it was like we need to have to make sure
he's medically sound. And there was some you know, some
supplements that we did and he kind of grew out
(01:51:07):
of it. He knew how to play. So injury prone
with this guy, Yeah, there's red flags around that. You know,
one ACL injury, one fracture, you know, is it bad luck?
You know, how do you interpret all of it? What
you want to do is, like I've always said, these
guys that make it, they turn that into their learning curve,
(01:51:29):
and they're ahead of some of the guys that never
had injuries, where they are more in tune to their
body and the pros and cons of what they should do.
The guys that are showing up to the training room
an hour before practice, the guys that are staying there
half an hour and an hour after practice, those are
the guys that are more dedicated. So sometimes you get
a stronger dedication from a young player that respects his
(01:51:51):
body a little bit more. So I can twist it
both ways whichever, you know, whatever we want to talk about,
But overall, yeah, there is injury prone. It's usually related
to not respecting your body enough and not doing things
well enough to guys that are soapt, but those guys
usually don't make it to the professional level.
Speaker 3 (01:52:10):
Hey, Doc, who do you like the Lions to take tonight?
I'm not gonna ask you for a player. I'm gonna
ask you for a position. We're all wanting them to
take a defensive tackle. You know, this team like we do.
What do you think they do at twenty eight? Are
they gonna trade up? Are they gonna trade out? Or
are they gonna stay and pick a player?
Speaker 15 (01:52:30):
You know, I think they're gonna stay and pick a player.
Speaker 20 (01:52:34):
I can't see him trading up because there's they're not
looking for a quarterback. They're not, you know, receiver. Could
they use another receiver? No, we're pretty solid. You know
all this buzz I actually got some comments while I
was out socially about why are you guys picking on
Jamo so much?
Speaker 15 (01:52:50):
Why?
Speaker 20 (01:52:50):
Why why can't we keep them? You guys started such
as stir its. Yeah, it's in the city of Well,
you know we need Jamo. Why are you dogging Jamo?
You're right?
Speaker 15 (01:53:01):
I mean the defensive line.
Speaker 20 (01:53:02):
Look, we could have an unbelievable line, the linebackers, everybody
comes back healthy.
Speaker 15 (01:53:07):
We got a strong team.
Speaker 20 (01:53:09):
I mean, why are you guys, how do we feel
about the offensive line? Yeah, I mean Jared Golf needs
time in that pocket to get comfortable to be more successful.
So I wouldn't mind seeing an offensive line then coming in.
Speaker 3 (01:53:24):
You know what, Ryan said, offensive line? I said offensive line,
and you said offensive line. I wanted to take defensive line.
I think they take offensive line. It's just my hunch
and I just this team. You never know with this team,
and if they take an injured player, I'm gonna have
you on again tomorrow. That's fine, that's fine, stay tuned,
(01:53:48):
stay on here, because we're gonna spin the wheel. Remember
how we remember how we spun the wheel last week
you were here. Okay, we're gonna spin the wheel here.
I'm gonna let Anson spin the wheel because we have
all these guys on the super Chat. They're gonna win
this great prize packers that answer put together. So stay
with us here and then we'll say goodbye to the all.
Speaker 20 (01:54:05):
Right, real real quick, real quick, our Boston Marathon here
tonight to two hours, twenty minutes. Nice came in fifty
second place. Wow, overall out of thirty two thousand people.
Speaker 3 (01:54:20):
Wow. And that's Mike, Big Michaels.
Speaker 20 (01:54:23):
Yeah, Big Mike Blasix. So congratulation and success and uh,
you know, he's happy. He didn't to his personal best,
but he told us that I think three minutes off
his personal best with the hilly and the level of
care or I'm sorry hills in Boston. I think that's
a great outcome.
Speaker 3 (01:54:43):
So fabulous he finished and he's healthy, right, Oh, he
was strong.
Speaker 20 (01:54:48):
We could show. We'll bring it out. I'll get you
guys the photos. But you look like he could have
run another couple of miles.
Speaker 3 (01:54:54):
The way he came through the finish line. Amazing, amazing.
It's amazing to be in your thirties again.
Speaker 6 (01:54:59):
Right, it is nice.
Speaker 5 (01:55:02):
Go ahead and answer the wheel, all yours and a
quick shout out to be go crazy. He did get
one fight, uh super chat in there before the buzzer.
Speaker 3 (01:55:12):
What crazy?
Speaker 5 (01:55:13):
What's crazy is Unk has a sane No means no,
yes means no tomorrow. But that girl cappin, she just
wants the bag. So he's talking about Shannon Sharp there.
But we are going to go ahead and spin this wheel.
Speaker 3 (01:55:28):
Before you spin it, burn said, if it lands on him,
spin again, have to give his away to someone else.
So he this has been shuffled five times. It has here.
