You talked about winning. You didn't win, But the Detroit
Pistons did win last night. And you can say it's
nothing murder, but I'm calling beloney beat the New York
Knickerbockers one fifteen to one oh six. Everybody played in
this game. It was an elite game from Kay Cunningham.
We finished thirty six and eight and forty minutes, thirty
six points in thirty four minutes. He's showing you that

he is indeed primed and getting ready for his playoff.
We talked about it a little bit. You see Kay
using his body, well, you see Kay using his body. Well,
he's a lot stronger when you look at him. So
is Jalen Doring. But Kay's a lot stronger. He's very calm,
he's very patient. He's tapping into what I see and everybody.

It's not just me. Is the Jokic, is the Luka.

Donachik is body pace leverage. He's not letting anybody control
his pace. Now that he's stronger, he leans on you.
The leverage says a lot. Last night, hell of a

excited for these playoffs coming up. Man, talk about your guys.

And for me, I've been saying there's so many.

and I've said it about many more and I will
say many more times about others slowing the game down,
having the game slowed down for them. But Cade the
game has not just slowed down for him. But like
you're talking about, what true superstars like Jokicic can do,
they slow the game down for their entire team. And

we saw him come back off injury after he'd missed
a few weeks, looked rusty his first game back.

He sure did not last night.

What I did see was a Pistons team the full
first half.

Speaker 7 (04:35):
They were not playing to their level of play. They
weren't bringing it defensively, they weren't bringing just the intensity and.

The need to show out in that game. To me,
there's only one bad outcome of last night's game. And
mind you, no ogn Andobi for the Knicks, no Josh
Hard for the Nicks, two major parts of their starting lineup,
their second leading and two of their best defenders on
the league. If they come in here and they blow
out the Pistons, last night.

That's not a good look for the Pistons.

But if Pistons can just stick with them have a
good game.

I thought that that would have been really good for
the Pistons.

But it wasn't just that Pistons came on the second
half down, had a couple chances where the game could
have gotten away from them, but.

Cade put his stamp on that game.

There were times where we would get a loose ball
or a rebound and instead of seeing a guy like
a star or shrewd running down the court trying to
make something happen.

They were just looking for Caid.

Give him the ball, give him a pill, and let
him set the temple. There is nothing as a Pistons
fan that you can look at that game last night
and wonder whether or not this team can win a
first round playoff matchup.

They showed me everything last night.

Pray this is a team that will be fighting for
a second round play off victory.

I agree with you too, and about the New York Knicks,
this is the first time that they've been together as
currently constructed a lot of added pieces this year, so
you'll be interested to see what does that look like
in the playoffs. With that being said, sorry I didn't

here and his Detroit Pistons look pretty good, man.

I told you, man, I watched this team from the
get go. They're just a fun team to watch. The
one thing I didn't like about last night's game is
they actually had to play that game against the Knicks.
I was hoping the Knicks wouldn't be able to see
them until the playoffs. Now, Tom Thibodeau and this team,
they know what they gotta do and they were down
two starters. Like Anson said us, they didn't play all

out last night either. But it stinks that they're playing
the Knicks now, and they're playing the Bucks in a
home home and a home coming up tonight and tomorrow,
uh another playoff possible playoff preview. It's it's it's tough.
I wish they didn't have to face the Knicks. It's
almost like it was a practice game for the Knicks.

You understand what I mean? Yeah, as much as I
believe that the Pistons can hang with the Knicks, I
think the Knicks made out last night by seeing what
they gotta do going forward.

I definitely can understand that.

You know, you're you're worried that they got a chance
to see what Kate is gonna be like get tadd
But just like you said, some guys didn't play for them, Well,
there's somebody that got cleared for the Detroit Pistons who
didn't play for them as well. I think we have
a video as well talking about Jade Ivy being cleared.

For business to playoffs. So we'll see what that looks like.

I want to ask an answered about that. We talked
about it yesterday. We want we talked about it yesterday.
Do you want Jade and Ivy to be on this
team for the playoffs?

Speaker 6 (07:54):
Well, listen, this team has played a different brand of
basketball without Jada and Ivy early on in the seat
and Jayden was the catalyst for this team offensively when
Caide was still trying to figure out the superstar that
he has become.

Speaker 7 (08:08):
I'll tell you one thing I don't want.

Speaker 6 (08:10):
I don't want him to not get any experience in
the playoffs. And even if he's playing twelve minutes eight
minutes a game, it's crucial for the development of the
core of this basketball franchise to grow into the finals
competition that they are. The only way that they can
do that is by getting these guys' playoff experience.

Speaker 7 (08:31):
I think Jade and Ivy will be out there a
little bit.

Speaker 6 (08:34):
I don't think that he's going to be a guy
that's going to swing this series by any means. The
guys that are going to swing this series, there's a
sar Jalen Duran and beef Stew. You watched beef Stew
last night. Didn't score a point, didn't need to, Yeah,
but he blocked and altered a whole lot of shots.
Two guys on that team that's going to be what

decides whether the Knicks get beyond the first round or not.
Cat and Brunson, and I saw Brunson super frustrated by
a lengthy A star.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
Can I say something about bruns and being frustrated. The
one thing you have to respect about his game, he
does not come playing. He was on the ground a
couple of times something. One of those times I thought
it would have been something. The other times I thought
he was doing a little bit much. But he doesn't
can play. You know who that is, that's his pops.
I remember watching those villas his pops on. It looked
like he got games. Sorry, I just appreciated a player

being a physical game, going down, not looking to the reps,
not screaming, jumping up and now because you saw a
Cat do that the whole game with his zesty, so
I appreciate that about it.

Speaker 6 (09:37):
And to your point, oh my god, god, that's the
only thing about watching Cat.

He's a hell of a talented player.

Speaker 3 (09:48):
But you will get that from time to town where
you like like, you know, I don't.

I'm not trying to be away. It was like he
found me like Cat about the King.

Speaker 3 (09:56):
You didn't even you didn't even sound like that when
you're at Kentucky, by the way, but that's neither He the.

Absolutely so.

But Brunson is unflappable. This is a guy that you
can't shake him emotionally. Towards the end of that game,
you could see him frustrated. A guy like Asar Thompson
is so long and becoming one of the elite defenders.
If you give him thirty minutes on Brunson, Brunson is
going to struggle to find open shots over the course
of a six or seven game series.

Speaker 7 (10:26):
It's going to be very tiring for Brunson. But then
once you look at Kat they didn't even bring out
Duran for eight minutes of that fourth quarter because they
got Beef Stu.

Speaker 6 (10:36):
Seven games of Beef stew and Jalen Duran on that guy,
you saw him. He was exhausted, which led to frustration.

Speaker 7 (10:47):
And so for me, I thought it was very different.

Speaker 6 (10:49):
I know they got a free glimpse of who the
Pistons are, and I know that they didn't have two
of their starters, but they brought a playoff mentality to
that game, and this young piss since team has never
ever seen that or played in that type of emotional environment.
They're gonna play that the next two nights against the Bucks,
and then they're gonna be thrown into it completely in

that first round matchup. For me to have the Knicks
come in two guys down or not, for them to
come in here, think that they're the higher seed, the
better team, and lose.

The way they did.

We wrote out the roadmap to the second round, and
they can easily accomplish it.

Speaker 3 (11:31):
Yeah, but like you said, be careful with the two
players that didn't play in this game. And then also,
there is a difference in basketball intensity when you get
to the playoffs. The New York Knick team that you
saw last night, it will not be the team that
you particularly potentially see in seven days from now. It
won't be that team. They will be much better. The
intensity will be a lot different. But before we go
to the Bucks game tonight, before we go to the playoff, JB.

his guys is kind of excited.

In the first half, you know, we've been in a
position where we've been trying to trade punches, but that's
not who we are, that's not what makes us unique.
The second half, we played our style right and brought
the fight to our type of fight. You know, defensively
is where it always starts with us. You know, if
we think we're gonna go out there and just trade baskets,
that's not who we are. Everything we do starts with

our willingness to compete on the defensive end of the floor.

And that's what makes us unique.

We're not like your typical NBA team. That's not who
we are, and we can't afford to play that way.
But if it comes down to grit and toughness and competition,
I like our chances now.

Something that I wrote down that kind of goes along
the lines of this, we know this is what they
want to be grit. Okay, to get that from ford Field,
they get that from Detroit, they get that from what's
inside of the Pistons DNA makeup. But you know what
we've been complaining about, Oh, just too much of it now,
being smart, being a little too aggressive, getting caught up
the mental lapses in those moments. Yesterday I saw Tom

that was taking it up to the edge, boss, taking
it to the edge. But being smart in the moment
is not over pushing, not getting the Tiki Taggi files,
not making the reps like all right now, we got
to hit them with two.

Three files to calm them down.

They pushed it to the edge, which shows me they're
paying attention, shows me growth, chows me that JB. Bickerstaffs
having these conversations in practice, in games, and even when
they're on flight. So I really enjoyed seeing that time
as away.

This team is starting to remind me of it.

You guys might think I'm crazy, but the old four
going to work Pistons, and I'm just gonna take two players,
Jalen Durham and Beef stew Those two guys put together
are Ben Wallace to me, Kate Cunningham is Chauncey Billups. Okay,
the rest of this team they go how deep can

this team go? As far as players go, ten they
go ten DP just like the old fourteen. This team, man,
they're not a pushover. I so much enjoy watch great basketball,
and they have given that to me this year. They
have re lit my basketball fire, especially going to a game,

and I'd love to go to the Knight's game as well.

But I've had a great year of watching this team.
I hope that it works out, and I hope that
they can win a playoff series or at least take
it to seven games, because that experience. Like you've been
saying all along, it's invaluable and they're only gonna get better.
They're only gonna get better. Players are gonna start to
want to come here.

are like, hey, look what's up. You guys need to

all the players that have come here in the free
agency with Bret Holmes, they wanted to be here in
the last three years.

But just getting back to the Pistons, I love it.

That second score, though, is gonna be key like that
second score at times, just like just imagine if K's
not on teams. No, K's the guy thirty six points
last night and thirty four minutes when you get to
the playoffs, not going to allow him to get thirty six.

He's gonna have to go and earn thirty six. Now.
He's an All Pro caliber player, so he'll fight.

But what happens when you don't, is Malik Beasley gonna
be able to get you at twenty six? Because Malik
Bezy doesn't seem like he's consistent enough to be able
to count on him for twenty six. Where do you
go if Cad is bogged down Anson Wills.

It's a great question because realistically, there's only one other
guy on this team that can create his own shot consistently,
and that is Tobias.

Speaker 7 (15:29):
Whether you dump it down him into the post, whor
that he's operating good had a good. I love I
love Tobias.

He's a settling influence, he's a he's a calm offensive player.
He's a very efficient offensive player. But when you look
at Malik when he's trying to create, that's when you
see him get into trouble. Fantechio, please don't try and create.

That's you got that, you know, you know what.

Dennis Shrewder is a guy that can create on his
But if you get Jade and Ivy, even if it's
twelve to sixteen minutes, that is a guy just in
that little little area where you kind of can't find
your way, whether it's because Kate's taking the rest on
the bench or he's just not feeling it.

Ivy is a guy that just.

Can change the absolute speed of a game and find
his way, not only to the hoop, but also to
the foul line.

So I love that.

But one of the things that you mentioned earlier was
their emotional maturation. And in that game yesterday, the first half,
I watched them all my notes I don't like from
the first half, and everything I didn't like in the
first half, they absolutely cured in the second half. They
came out, they played faster, they played with more urgency.
There was a couple times where savvy Dennis Schreud came

in there and pissed those Nicks off.

Absolutely, and that's the kind of stuff that the young
Pistons don't get.

They'll get caught up in emotional moments.

Dennis Schuter knew exactly what he was doing, who win,
He knew who was win exactly and so that kind
of a game with the patios. I don't know how
well the Pistons.

Would do with that.

It was very clear after last night the Knicks are
not cut out for a chippy, physical playoff series. And
that's why I think the Pistons are gonna get by
these guys.

It's gonna be like, it's gonna be really interesting.

I think before when we first posed this question, it
was around like two and a half weeks ago, so
we were trying to figure it out and I said, look,
I don't want to play the Knicks. I think they
have too much to prove. I think this is gonna
be a big year for catting the playoffs. I tend
to still be on that. But if they wint by
no means will be surprised. I think they'll put themselves
in situations manage. You ask a great question, how deep
are they ten players deep? That's the hell of a

player deep on the bench. That's amazing, somewhat reminding of,
like you said, to go on the word Pistons. So
it's gonna be a tremendous series. I just can't wait
to see it happened. I'm just excited that it's happening. Yeah,
before we get swore, we get so caught up and are.

more to be excited about this series than the last two.

Those two series, it was just excited we were there.
Maybe we can win one. This is a completely different thing.

This feels like Rick Carlile's first year taking over for
George Jervian Flippings from thirty two and fifty to fifty
and thirty two, losing to the Boston Celtics in the
second round when we were supposed to get out of
that first round.

Really cannot wait for Pistons fans because I've been telling
people my old man, he's the one that he's responsible
for my love of these Pistons.

that there's been some teams we've been excited about in
the past. But these guys play and compete like the
two championship teams that we've had or the three that
we've had in the past. This is your father's and
your grandfather's pistons playing in twenty twenty five. You got
three game, two games to catch in the regular season.

In the beginning of the year when they signed Tim Hardaway, junior,
Malik Beasley, uncle uncle Tobias Bias, and there was one

Reid, Paul Reed. ESPN gave them a D minus on
those sides. D minus.

what Sard Thompson was gonna look like this year, coming

lot more disruptors like PJ was last night.

He's gonna even see any minutes when they're fully healthy,

are two guys, those are two X factors for the
