Speaker 1 (00:03):
It's two pm Detroit, and you know what that means.

Speaker 2 (00:06):
Detroit media icon, Ryan Armani, University of Michigan, Great Brailen
Edwards and of course Mass are about to take over
on Woodward Sports every day to the four pm. It's
the best Detroit sports talk on Detroit's best sports networks.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Sports Welcome Inn on this beautiful Tuesday. Sixty six percent
of that intro is not here, but guess what, the
show is still full. I'm joined by my main man,
Anson Wells on the desk today. As you see, the
pot thickens, the pot gets better, the package, the members
of the prize, it's amazing. Is he gonna put together?
We'll talk to him in a second about that. But
it's also wait a minute, it's time, ass away.

Speaker 4 (00:46):
I hate Lebron James.

Speaker 5 (00:48):
James sucks the NBA. I used to love the NBA.
The NBA was my favorite, and then Lebron James came.
You know all, Brandon, I'm done.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Tell tell me about Babe Bruce.

Speaker 5 (01:07):
I see, I remember watching Babe brew for the first time.

Speaker 3 (01:12):
I was there rookie season.

Speaker 6 (01:15):
Ricky the Legend has a ride.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Shout Ricky made. Now I'm going to start calling him
and shout to the man to put him on camera.
Peace on right hand.

Speaker 6 (01:25):
What's up?

Speaker 7 (01:29):
Oh man, my friends, and boy, do we have a
heck of a chip?

Speaker 3 (01:35):
We will. We have a show prepared for you by
my man Peace Biak in conjunction with Time Maswell and
assistance goes to Anson Wells as well, so to be
a hell of a show. We'll figure it out, but
let's start before then. How are you doing, sir? What's
going on in your world? What's what's up with Anson Wells?

Speaker 6 (01:54):
I'm high on the list of hated men in New York, okay,
and and I'm embracing it.

Speaker 3 (02:01):
But that's what you want in your profession, correct.

Speaker 6 (02:04):
Well, you know what? To be honest with you kind
of you guys talk about the hackler and I come
up here and I give my stances, and half the
Chad hates me, half the Chad kind of likes me.

Speaker 3 (02:12):
Welcome to the world of the media, for sure.

Speaker 6 (02:14):
But I forgot about hackling, actual hackling, which I got
a chance to do. In the postgame show, there was
a comment made about Pistons, the fact that they're peasants
of the NBA. But again, what again, the Knicks haven't
tasted meat in over five decades. And I've come to realize,
as much as I despise Chicago sports fans, at least

(02:37):
they kind of get it. New York sports fans. I'm
I'm not sure if it's the New York school system
or what, but they failed them. Maybe the water, maybe
the rats, and maybe some bonic plague running around there,
but they just don't get it. And you know, they
have to give them eight teams to try and get it,
and they still don't.

Speaker 3 (02:55):
So that's a fair point.

Speaker 6 (02:57):
You know. I've been a little caught up in defending
our fair city to New Yorkers and reminding New Yorkers
that without a salary cap, you would have eight teams
that would have basically accomplished nothing for the last century.
So I'm gonna be a lot better after the w

(03:18):
tonight because the Pistons are winning.

Speaker 3 (03:20):
All right, we will actually all.

Speaker 6 (03:22):
Right, you get back to that. I'm just saying, you
ask me how I am. I'm wrapped up in the
Pistons right now, Bray.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
I don't have any problem with it. I actually wanted
to get to that, how do the Pistons win this game?
So you believe they're gonna win. We'll get to that.
We'll also get to the Tigers as well. They lost one,
but guess what, still have the best record in the
al crazy. We will get to that to you. Look,
you know what, every once in a while, jose L
Tu has to he has to do something decent. So
it is what it is, golf. I gotta take you

(03:49):
there before we start to show having on this journey
and we again, I know you're on the golf journey.
Anybody there on this golf journey. People give you all
this information, whether it's your coach, whether it's your friends,
whether it's your mentors, what everybody has a lesson. I
feel like, finally I've been able to start to isolate
the ones that I feel like I'm already picked up
on and start to pay attention to the ones that
I couldn't. My iron shots, Ricky, I think I figured

(04:12):
it out. Keep your head down, watch this.

Speaker 8 (04:16):
Yeah, I'll tn to shout up for you.

Speaker 3 (04:19):
Oh yeah, do me a favorite, Do me a favorite
Pete hit, Paul's hit, Paul's paulse Mass. He always asks,
and this is for you. Shout out the Masks and
Grand Rappers shout out to everything with the family. You
know what it is with the daughters. Uh, He asked,
Why do I love this game so much? Just take
a look at this view if you guys are watching
the home and then listen if you're not. This is

(04:41):
what golf is to me. I finally arrived.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
That's what you call compression.

Speaker 9 (04:59):
That was pure pressing on that ball, was a pure
center shot. So I want to ask you what what changed?
What was the was it the one thing that you
changed the hand?

Speaker 6 (05:08):
What was it?

Speaker 3 (05:09):
The very first thing they teach you is keep your
eye on the ball. Yes, yes, And that's the thing
that I had, And that's the thing that I hadn't
been doing. Like I was taking it up and bringing
it back. And I'm turning my like I'm letting the club,
turning my hips. I'm letting the club do that and
opening my head. So I'm not I'm not centered. If
you will, I just relaxed, take you off. And then
I said, why can't I'm getting everything right? Even my

(05:31):
instructor said, it looks just so good right here. You're
trying to turn this way without your hips, trying to.

Speaker 4 (05:38):
Turn without the hell watch it.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
And I said, Okay, So now I said, I understand that,
Why does it feel so awkward? Like, how the heck
can I do that? You keep your head down, you
keep your head done. I kept my head down, and
it was the first time, literally, I have a whole
video about thirty shots that all look good. Don't get
me wrong. Someone left center or left that's right center
a little bit. There were no slices, there were no draws.
There was just I can play all these shots. So

(06:02):
yesterday it feel good. And then last when it was
a drive. You know, always got to have a drive
six four you got you gotta have the drive.

Speaker 4 (06:08):
What driver you swing away with? You're swinging with?

Speaker 3 (06:10):
Come on, man, you know this is I'm a tailor,
may guy.

Speaker 4 (06:12):
Okay, tailor may tailor?

Speaker 3 (06:13):
May y'all got.

Speaker 4 (06:24):
How long that goo? That had to go? Two hundred?

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Enough of that. At the end of the day, I
just want to take you guys the journey. It's fun.
I'm like, oh, they weren't lying. These things do work
like this. So that's why I said, it's stages. The
stage that I was that yesterday there's the very first
time that I feel like I hit a golf shot
and actually meant to do it.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
Yeah, I told you that.

Speaker 9 (06:47):
That's how I've been now getting in my journey to
where I keep my head down and I'm still shocking
everybody pointing up like oh, your ball is actually up there,
and I'm like, oh, it is like I'm actually get
to that point toward It's like I know what I'm doing,
so I'm not paying at the ball, I'm not panting
just to everything else.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
I'm just executing my shot. That's great, man, that's inspire.
I was gonna say, man, you know I used to.

Speaker 7 (07:07):
I was a caddy for nine years, which meant I
played a lot of golf and I haven't played in
a long time. But when I when I was done bray,
I was a fourteen or a thirteen handicap. Keeping your
head down, you know, it's kind of like a pendulum, man,
And I'm not gonna go through the golf thing. It's
the hardest fricking thing to do.

Speaker 2 (07:23):
Man.

Speaker 7 (07:24):
If you can't keep your head straight and your head down,
your SHOT's gonna flail one way or another, man, regardless
of the hips.

Speaker 1 (07:30):
It's that one motion.

Speaker 7 (07:32):
And when you get everything in one motion like a pendulum,
you're gonna be hitting.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
You know what, Peter, I'm fielding inspired answering. I'm inspired
by you and what you do. How you bring everything in.
You bring the crowd in, you bring the audience in
with the engagement, with the audibles, the collectibles. There you go,
who in this chat likes to golf? There you go,
who in this chat enjoys golf? I tell you what?

Speaker 10 (07:54):
Oh?

Speaker 3 (07:55):
This, how is how we're gonna do this? Give me
shoulders right like this?

Speaker 4 (07:58):
I like this?

Speaker 6 (08:00):
What's coming up?

Speaker 3 (08:02):
Just for today? Oh just for today, today, only today especially.
I feel it today. I won't feel it tomorrow. I
want feel the Thursday. I feel it right now. Get
the get the wheel going. The wheel is going. We're
gonna get the wheel going. I need a separate wheel
for this one. You want separate will for this Top three,

(08:22):
top three at the end of the show, we're gonna
go golf. By August. Top three, the top two. I
want to I want to play. You say, hold on,
all right? Who here golf? Run O? Ryan and Mans
don't go. I know you.

Speaker 4 (08:38):
I'll get out there.

Speaker 6 (08:40):
I don't really want to talk about we owned a
golf course for like twenty years.

Speaker 4 (08:45):
Let's do it. I'll talk about it.

Speaker 3 (08:46):
That's what's up. So the top top individual today Ron
the golf's on me and you get to play with
me Ricky as well as answering will that's what's on
the dock in the day. That's what's on the doctor today.
We will go out. It will be a nice course
and we will have a good time. Ricky's in, answers in,
and so on. My ladies and gentlemen, start the show.

(09:10):
Tigers yesterday, Bring your a game, Bring you a game.

Speaker 9 (09:14):
I got a game now. I'm so excited to golf
with answer. I can't imagine how much he talks. I
love golfing people really really good.

Speaker 4 (09:21):
I love it.

Speaker 6 (09:22):
Oh I'm not really really good. I'm just really good.
Good time on they even better, even better since I'm
not a ball golf guy. You guys want to go
frisbee golf. And now I'm never talking about being very good,
my neighbor, does let me.

Speaker 3 (09:35):
Get you in on this look Astro. They beat the
Tigers yesterday, Like we said, jose L Tube had a
home run as well as they had two home runs
in that game. But anyway, it doesn't matter. Eight five,
I want to ask you flirty takes a loss. Yes,
cirta start there. Two home runs were hit by Reese.
Gonna be a shoot, right, had two home runs in

(09:56):
that game they lost? Is what it is still the
best record in the American League. Pete, Yes, sir, the
Tigers at eighteen eleven. They lose a game. How does
it feel now that your team is a situation when
they lose games? It doesn't matter because you still understand
who they.

Speaker 7 (10:10):
Are because that's what progression from youth and a corps
does for your team.

Speaker 3 (10:16):
Man.

Speaker 7 (10:16):
And again that goes back to what my love for
aj Hinch and how good he's done. By the way,
you're talking about Riley Green yesterday with those those two knockers.
The team has been playing. I mean, you were a
professional athlete quite obviously you understand what it takes to
make the next level and things like that. And Braylen
all those guys, as you can see Brailan are playing
like a unit. They're playing for themselves. They're feeling good,

(10:38):
they're playing good. It is April, I understand that. But
the aj Hinch leadership and the coaching staff that has
helped develop the players, the pitching staff which has been
put together Jack Flaherty coming back is huge. The development
of all the other younger players, Casey Maiz is doing well.
It's so much fun to watch the maturation of the

(10:59):
core group, which I honestly was not too confident in
to start the season. But they've done very well. And
not only are they not only do they have to
finish April strong here now they got to carry it
over month by month by month, and it is good
Bray to have that buffer zone and to take a
loss every once in a while that you can afford
to absorb.

Speaker 3 (11:18):
Five and seven in the last seven excuse me, five
and two in the last seven games. That's why we're
not tripping about the Detroit Tigers. Answer and I come
to you. It's a team that we necessarily didn't believe
in to start the season. It's fair to say, glad
you said that. People here we are. You see the
playoff run last year, You see the experience that they gain,
the run that they gained. With that being said, this
is who they are. They're true to form, this is

(11:40):
the team, this is no mistaken about it. What do
they need to do before the trade deadline because now
we're clearly buyers, and I know it's a long time
from now, but big picture, big picture stuff. What do
they need to do with the trade deadline in European It's.

Speaker 6 (11:54):
A great question because they are going to be buyers
and they've got a whole lot of ice shiny objects
down in the minors to be able to deal. To me,
I want to see this team get a little bit healthy.
I'd like to see what Vierlin means to this team.
I'd like to see what Parker means to this team.
In the off season, you know, we loved our pitching chaos.

(12:17):
Shout out to Hitch. I mean, the management of this
team got so much more last year than what I
felt the roster could provide. And he's off running early
this year. This is a team that's historically gotten off
to bad starts for the last decade. That's not the
case this year. And it was the extra rotational arms

(12:37):
that they needed. But you re signed Flaherty. But then
you get Casey Maies like you talked about playing how
we had hoped he would play when we drafted him
four or five years ago. You have Jackson Joke contributing
earlier than you would. I can't give you a straight
answer Bray because I don't quite know what we're lacking.
We thought it was power. Now we got Torkos and

(12:57):
hitting with power. Thought it was hobby. He's playing three
hundred ball. So I can't give you a specific answer
right now. I think that as we get healthier, maybe
deal with some injuries, and we start getting into June
and closer to July, I think that that answer will
become a lot clearer short answer. If I had to
give one right now, it's another power back Pete.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
Let me ask you this. To start the season, Riley Green,
that was a big question mark, trying to figure out
what was Riley Green at He was struggling a lot
of olphers, a lot of ophers. Well, now this is
just the last five games he has. Last night he
had two hits, two home runs, being that night before
that he had zero. But dinner was a hit. There
was a hit, and there was two hits. So it
seems like he's fining the ball. It seems like he's

(13:40):
finding the Riley Green that we come to learn last year.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
That's absolutely correct.

Speaker 7 (13:44):
If we remember what Ryan ARMANI said, who's that thirty
and thirty guy for the Tigers? The Tigers if they're
gonna win the World Series, they need to be that third.
They need to have at least two thirty and thirty guys.
Now we know who it is. It's Riley Green, and
it's Spencer Torkelsen. If they can pick an another one
up at the trade deadline, then boom, checkmate. Let's go
to the playoffs and let's have fun and let's win

(14:06):
some freaking games in some series, because that's exactly what
they're gonna do now. I know at the beginning of
the season, a lot of people made fun of Max
and I were saying, like bringing Vladimir Guerrero.

Speaker 4 (14:14):
But that's the kind of guy.

Speaker 8 (14:15):
I'm talking about.

Speaker 7 (14:17):
And Andson we talked about that type of guy being
a good number two for the Pistons on the post
game show up, which we'll get into when we talk
about the Pistons later on.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
But that's what I mean.

Speaker 8 (14:24):
For the Tigers.

Speaker 7 (14:25):
They need to bring in a guy that's up on
the wall of kids' bedrooms.

Speaker 3 (14:30):
They need that poster guy. You don't think so I
don't think we do currently.

Speaker 4 (14:35):
No, No, I don't have No.

Speaker 6 (14:36):
We don't have it.

Speaker 7 (14:37):
They need it. They absolutely need that. And that's the
step you take. When you make that step, see in
the playoffs, maybe we're gonna be hoisting a trophy.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
I appreciate that correlation. And you're talking about that second player.
The Pistons will get to that. We know they need
a second player, and the Tigers that is the thing
that you're waiting for. Twenty nine games into the Tigers season,
where you atka.

Speaker 9 (14:54):
I agree with what Pete just said. That's why I
wasn't a game yesterday one. I think it was that
ball part that they were hitting that Astros. We was
just hitting everything in that little that will be the ballpark.
That was crazy, crazy on top of the wall that
was that ballpark. But I was thinking that, I'm like,
we need someone who can just make one big play
like we used to have, like Cabrero, who could just
come up and knock it out the park when we

(15:15):
need it. That's all I was thinking yesterday, like, man,
we need one more person that in the clutch can
just make that play. So I agree with Pete, but
I'm I mean, watching that game I have I'm not
even nervous, Like that loss didn't even feel like a loss.
It wasn't even didn't you feel that bad. I feel
like it's like a or whatever we do, we're still
doing good. I still look at the Tigers exactly the same.

Speaker 3 (15:31):
Yeah, no, I agree. And that's the one thing about
having one hundred and sixty eight games. There will be
loss just about limits to them. They play again to night,
you know, and we can put a ball on the Tigers.
I know. Everybody's excited to talk about the Pistons, I know,
and is excited to talk about Shador. We didn't get
a chance to unpack that with him yet. I actually
have some more to say on that. It's a great
healthy conversation. But just getting back to it tonight, Resolson

(15:52):
takes the mind. He's part of this new Uh, he's
probably this pitching staff the Detroit Tigers. Six guys under
three er. Yeah, I don't know if Jack, Yeah, Jack
still under there. So so six guys under three era.
What do you want to see tonight? They lost last night?
What would you like to see the nat Atrisos and
and Tigers.

Speaker 6 (16:10):
I don't even worry about the pitching talk to me obviously,
you know they eight runs last night. I think Houston
brought around, but we haven't seen those big explosive games
out of opponents offense. I want to see the consistency
of Riley Green, who has been playing better. But as
we just talked about, that's our poster guy on this team.
Some people thought it was torquing. Maybe he's on his

(16:32):
way to being that, but Riley Green has been the
pulse of this team for a couple of seasons. Now,
the fact that we're playing this well with him struggling,
I think that that's that's that next piece that falls
into place that really makes this team untouchable in the central.
And they already look pretty untouchable in the central. Cleveland's
just not the same team they were last year.

Speaker 3 (16:54):
That's true.

Speaker 7 (16:55):
Can I make one other thing too, What you're saying
about the struggle is how they struggle to winning teams
struggle a certain way. They they unscrew their you know,
when their heads screwed on wrong, they find a way
to screw it back incorrectly. So Braylan, as you know,
being part of championship teams and being part of you know,
non championship teams or what it takes. It's how these
teams are going to struggle through the one sixty two season.

(17:18):
And let's see how the Tigers respond from a three
game losing streak, and that's gonna.

Speaker 3 (17:21):
Be key Magie. Excuse me, Pe, You're absolutely correct, but
I will say this. I was a part of the
second more than the first. No, no, I like it,
but no, you're absolutely right. How many? How often do it?
And I was gonna say Mass's name? That's why cashing
do we hear Mass in here and complain about the Yankees?
You after year after year, but you have to year
after year? What are the Yankees? Yankees like twenty games

(17:42):
above first place? Sure, excuse me, twenty games above five
hundred and eighteen games, fourteen games whatever. Good teams they
do lose, they do struggle, but great point, they struggle
in certain ways and they find themselves ways to get
out of it. So you're right, and that's what the
Tigers have become. So I expect to win. They have
not lost a series since the opening series of season
was crazy Los Angeles Dodgers in LA. They haven't lost

(18:05):
one yet. So and also you know what, they haven't
lost with the exception of this, haven't lost the first
game series until yesterday.

Speaker 4 (18:13):
H yeah, right, yes, that's crazy.

Speaker 6 (18:15):
And could you imagine trying to make your living in
the NL West. I mean, you got five teams I
believe in all of MLB that are above six hundred
screen one of them and three of them are in
the NL West. So when you look at that early series,
they hung in that series every game, and they didn't

(18:36):
hang their hats and hang their heads over that because
they knew, they knew what this team was. And to
see them come back and bounce back after, you know,
a loss of that, I know it's just it's the
World Series champs, but a lot of young teams are
going to go into that series lose oh three, and
that's going to continue on in the next series. But
they put that so far behind them, and they're coming

(18:56):
out and striking fear. They're intimidating to play right now
in Dynasty, I'm not starting any pictures against the Tigers.
That's crazy, that's insane.

Speaker 3 (19:04):
Fair enough other Tigers. That was a perfect segue, speaking
of bouncing back. Can your Detroit Pistons? Can they bounce
back after another game in which they should have one? Now,
this is how I want to start the conversation, because
I know you haven't had a chance to jump into this.
Oh This is from Leak Beasley first to four not three.

(19:25):
Appreciate that energy and that's what we want to see.
And actually I really appreciate that energy because tonight the Pistons,
I need you to play with that energy that you're
mad about that call. Play with that energy that you're
mad about that call. Don't don't say it to us,
don't say it to the city. Don't let our words
just reverberate to each other. You're mad, we're mad, we're
mad together. Use that. Somebody told me they harness my

(19:47):
first rations to harness my anger. You're absolutely correct. I
want them to harness their frustration into the game. But
with that being said, the file first, and then can
they respond talk about the file that was the end
of game one Game four.

Speaker 9 (20:04):
I just want to say answer when I first, just
let you know when I first, I didn't watch the
game for that file, but I saw to highlight. You
were the first person I thought of. I'm like, oh,
answer broke his TV.

Speaker 3 (20:13):
He had to, So let you take a second to
let your thug talk about the foul. And then the
second question is how do they win game five after
everything is transpired so far, including the file file first.

Speaker 6 (20:28):
Well, the foul. Listen, when you have what to me
was an over and back violation to finish game three,
you would think and hope that a call like that
at the end of a game on your own floor
again would be made. We know that Brunson would have
gotten that call. You know, when I watched it in

(20:51):
full speed, I felt that it was a foul. But
I could see why maybe they don't call it because
nobody wants to see a game ended on free throws.
But when you add in the game beforehand, and then
you you look at what happened there, especially in the
review when you slow it down, and then on top
of it you got Tim Hardaway doesn't airball threes. I

(21:15):
would have loved to have seen the NBA have the
balls to make that call. They should have.

Speaker 2 (21:20):
Now.

Speaker 6 (21:20):
To answer your other question, it's the question that's on
everyone's minds right now, and that is.

Speaker 3 (21:27):
Oh, that's it. So there's no outrage, you're pasted it.

Speaker 6 (21:34):
Yes, My outrage is more over the fact that you think,
you come back home and you get a little bit
of the benefit of the doubt. I didn't see the
benefit of the doubt. I saw a loosely called series
where they've been allowing it to be very, very physical.
I have a bigger problem with JB. Bickerstaff right now.
These people want to talk about better Caid's been historically

(21:58):
good for a guy in his first playoffs. JB. We
talked about this. I said it before the series started.
The key to victory for the Pistons is outlasting this
Knicks team. And we're basically utilizing our bench the same
way that they're utilizing theirs. But we're eleven deep and
we're not using those guys like we got a goon
from a to Italy named Fontechio. Throw them out there,

(22:20):
give me four rebounds and four hard fouls. You know.
JB allows run after run after run to go. I'm
not sure he knows what timeouts are actually four. So
there's a lot of guys that want to blame this
on the call. They want to blame it on k
needs to be better. There's a lot of things that

(22:41):
need to be better with this team, and it starts
with the youth. And that is why these guys had
four games they could have finished and they only finish one.
But your question, the root question is can these guys
come out and overcome that emotional loss. It's the question
that everybody in Detroit has on their mind and it's
a question that the NBA has on their minds because

(23:02):
everybody is starting to recognize this Pistons team.

Speaker 3 (23:05):
Three emotional losses. Oh yes, Oh, the last one just
happened to be at one. Everybody saw those two zero emotion.

Speaker 6 (23:14):
There we go, that emotion and each one of those
three laws. Well, the two losses, we've watched them come
back and respond and not seem like a young team
that is emotionally beaten. I am so intrigued to see
what team comes out tonight. And I again the kool aid.
It runs deep in my veins for the Pistons. But

(23:35):
I believe that there's two things that are three things
that are factoring for them. I don't think that there's
there's a snowballs chance in hades that Isaiah Stewart misses
this game. There's no way that he's going to end
his season on the bench. POSSI Two. The NBA has
been alerted. And if you think that there hasn't been
a conversation between the NBA higher ups and their referee crew,

(23:56):
that's going to be in New York tonight. Well, then
you're not a conspiraist like me. But the third thing is,
I just think that this team is young and dumb
enough to not care about what happened. And in fact,
I think that they're gonna be pissed off and they're
gonna come out there and they're gonna run the way
that they have and it's gonna come down to stupid
mistakes and turnovers. Can they eliminate those? I think the

(24:20):
Pistons win in MSG tonight, And honestly, I'm a little
more worried about whether they can win a game on
their home floor than if they can go back for
Game seven and win, because we've proven that we can
play with them in New York. We've proven that we
can win in New York. We've proven that we have
great fans here at LCA. But something's off and I
think that it will be righted tonight and the Pistons

(24:43):
will still have life on Thursday. Tonight is gonna be
a tight game, but I do believe that we are
going to see this Pistons team come out and fight
and not just shrink in a hole. Hey we got cheated,
We're young. We'll we'll chalk it up to you know, inexperience,
and we'll be back next year. I don't believe that
that's the makeup of this team. This is bad Boys

(25:05):
three point zero. They're emotionally strong. They have fought through
all this BS that we've seen, and I think that
you see a focused, not a youthful team come out there.
They're gonna be a focused and energetic team.

Speaker 3 (25:18):
Yeah, I definitely think they'd be focused.

Speaker 6 (25:20):
Thank you for letting me talk there, but we know
damn weekend for that.

Speaker 3 (25:24):
You're one of their best, Like, you're one of the
best fans of the Detroit fan base. Offer you deserve
and you're good at your job, so you deserve the
right to do that. Now, you're absolutely correct. You know
we're gonna see what this team is made of. You know,
it's interesting that I actually don't fear for them on
the road.

Speaker 6 (25:39):
I don't know, right they won on the road.

Speaker 3 (25:41):
They wanted to see when you're home and you're in
the new space, I see. I never had to play
a playoff game of home, so I'm speaking from experience.
I never played like we were never the home team,
like always played on the road, playing on the road
is different. Our fans, like our fan this was not
our arena, it's not our fan base, it's not everybody
just in this thing. You're not worried on everything. It's
easier on the road, so one every uh Pete, Yes, Ricky.

(26:06):
Can the Pistons win tonight?

Speaker 6 (26:09):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (26:09):
Do the Pistons win? Yes?

Speaker 4 (26:10):
And my number one factor is what you just said.
Not only do they win on the.

Speaker 9 (26:13):
Road, they won at MSG of all places in the
playoff game, the first playoff game ever for most of them.
I mean, I'm pretty sure what probably ninety percent the
team never been in the playoffs for the Pistons.

Speaker 3 (26:23):
And I know, you know, we got four guys on there,
Easiy Tobias.

Speaker 4 (26:29):
Yeah, okay, so about half the team it's never been like.
That's what I think.

Speaker 9 (26:32):
I think, Yeah, they can do, and hopefully they go
in with that fire in their belly from that from
that call or whatever made them mad, not even just
called whatever made them mad in the last game.

Speaker 4 (26:41):
I think they need to just use that and yet
we can win.

Speaker 3 (26:43):
We should win, Pete, different questions for you. Yes, do
they call that file if it's not Tim Hardaway Jr.
If it's if it's Kay Cunningham. Is that foul call?

Speaker 4 (26:53):
No, because that's a Piston.

Speaker 7 (26:54):
But if it's another, if it's a superstar, yeah, that
that that false called on a different, different superstar, But
on a piston regard no. And I've said it before
and I'll say it again since I was a young
kid with hair. The national media has not given two
hoots about the Pistons, and I guarantee you that the
National Basketball Association doesn't give the two hoots either on

(27:14):
what has happened with the Pistons.

Speaker 4 (27:16):
But let me can I answer also the first question
on that.

Speaker 3 (27:18):
One there, Uh, brand appreciate you know, you know what,
take your time. We're gonna go another five minutes. You
guys can do the rest of the basketball stuff and
then we can come to the Lions, because I know
you guys are ready to talk about the Detroit Lions.
So that's fins basket.

Speaker 2 (27:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (27:30):
So anyway, so what I was also going to say
on top of that is the reason why the Pistons
can win on the road tonight and should win on
the road tonight, is because they've been playing let the
road team all series long, and that includes the home games.

Speaker 4 (27:40):
Here you could.

Speaker 7 (27:41):
Tell I said it uh during the watch party for
for Game four with Antson and Stick. And by the way, Anson,
what a thrill it was to watch a basketball game
with you because you watched like a coach and I
learned so much from you and you really are a
thrill to watch a basketball game with. And anyway, it
looked like day So it isna that they look like

(28:01):
two YMCA teams playing in that game. It was a
slop fest. And I'm all I'm saying is that their
Pistons don't seem to be comfortable at home yet it's
new to them, so they've been playing like a road
team all season long.

Speaker 8 (28:16):
They will win on the road because it's no problem.

Speaker 3 (28:19):
Very fair. I do think they win on the road tonight.
The only problem is I don't think they'll have anything
left for the next two games. We've seen the Pistons
in this situation before. They did the Finals in two
thousand and six, where they should have won Game five,
they did, They came on, gave everything in Game six,
and then we know what happened in Game seven in
San Antonio. Not the same team, but I think it's
the same energy.

Speaker 6 (28:35):
You know what happened in Game seven all of our
big men were on the bench with foul nine point
ly with seven. I was that that game Game seven, Sanatio.

Speaker 3 (28:46):
I'm gonna get you riled up.

Speaker 6 (28:48):
There are cir moments in the Pistons, Lord that I
just know exactly where it was. I can channel that
exact same feeling.

Speaker 3 (28:55):
There's no game seven, there's no games steals the ball.
Game seven is not for game five.

Speaker 6 (29:02):
You know, everybody gets so upset about that one. Yeah,
I mean, he definitely needs to defend that. But I'm
gonna go back to the beginning of the year and
Larry Brown did a little favor for his buddy from Syracuse,
Derreck Coleman. Guess who he traded for, Harrick Coleman, our
sixth Damn Man Williamson, the one guy aside from Ben

(29:27):
the guy that really mixed it up. You know, when
he came off the bench.

Speaker 3 (29:31):
And like, but you know why though, guess who his
coach was, Nolan Richards Hell Arkansas reason.

Speaker 6 (29:41):
The only reason why Michigan lost that that game was
because of Bill Clinton.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
That's true, That's right. He didn't even go to Arkansas.

Speaker 6 (29:50):
Nobody was on the floor.

Speaker 3 (29:53):
Check this out. We understand that Jimmy Butler got traded
for the Miami Heat, and we understand Andrew Wiggins just
hasn't been Andrew Wigans since they luckily won the championship
in two thousands to one Super Lucky Champions. Do you
realize he was a starter in the All Star Game
that year he started? Look it up, look it up, he.

Speaker 6 (30:11):
Started, somebody got injured, started, somebody got started right to.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
He started that. Wow, Now I don't know if you start,
but I know you're playing that all start with that
being said, Miami. He was outscored by one hundred and
twenty two points in this series. It was over from
the word go. Two fifty point losses in this series.
It is what it is, man, So it's really nothing
to talk about. But are you a believer in the Calves?

(30:38):
That's the question from this. Are you a firm believer
in this Caves team who had the number one record
in the East because at the end of the season
in case he beat them, But do you trust this
team because as good as the record is, as good
as Domon Mitchell is, you're telling me Evan Moley he's
the defensive player of the Year. Daris Garland, He's finally
found his game and the coach he should be JB.

(30:58):
Bickerstaf bs like people don't trust them.

Speaker 6 (31:03):
Listen, the great Barrier thief was robbed of the defensive
Player of the Year first and foremost. You don't set
those kind of steel numbers records and not get it.
It's a great question. Again, I thoroughly believe that the
NBA requires stepping stones. I think that OKAC and Cleveland

(31:26):
probably have a better roster than the Celtics, and they
certainly have a better future than the Celtics. But I
have such a hard time getting away from the Celtics
repeating this year out of experience, out of what the
NBA favors, The NBA favors championships ending up in Boston
or LA. And I just don't know if their youth

(31:47):
understands how to get past a defending champions Celtics team
in the Eastern Conference finals. I love their roster. I'm
hoping that they beat up on Indiana so badly that
Miles Turner knows his future is not there. It's somewhere
else in the Midwest, here in Detroit. But no, I

(32:08):
don't think that they can get by Boston. I honestly
hate Cleveland more than I hate Boston, which is shocking
because I hate the Celtics. Maybe it's the Celtics city
that I've been watching lately, but I just don't like
seeing I don't like seeing teams come out of nowhere
and just a sect. So I would love to see

(32:28):
them lose, and I do think they're going to lose
purely out of inexperience.

Speaker 3 (32:33):
All right, rapid fire, we'll finish this. We'll take a
break here from Doctor Pierce, and then we'll get back
in some Detroit Lions. Here you go, Pete, Yes, Doves
beat Rockets. Do the Dubs win the series?

Speaker 4 (32:42):
Dubs win the series?

Speaker 3 (32:43):
Dubs? So they outlast? All right? We can here you
go Pacers, they host the Bucks. Is that series over?
And is Damian Lillard's career potentially?

Speaker 4 (32:51):
Oh well, I can't say too much about that series.

Speaker 9 (32:53):
I haven't been watching, but Damian Yes on Damian Lillard,
I think this is he's just one of the ones.

Speaker 4 (32:57):
He's caught up in that That eras just over. Man,
it's just time.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
I also think that may not be in Milwaukee Buck
for too much longer. Last belongs to you, Clippers, Nuggets three. One.
We know Yoki is the best player in the league
to two excuse me, excuse me too too? What do
they do?

Speaker 5 (33:16):
Yo?

Speaker 6 (33:16):
Kinch is winning that? He's just unstoppable. I still don't
know how the Clippers made the playoffs, and I still
don't know how they won two games in that series.

Speaker 3 (33:23):
But because James harden Man, he's all He's all NBA
this year.

Speaker 6 (33:27):
It's because of Kauba. He's been a player. But no,
I think uh, I think it's joker. I think he
gets out of the first round.

Speaker 3 (33:38):
Has Paolo ben Carrol shows you in this playoffs this
year even though losing that he is something to be
wreckoned with.

Speaker 6 (33:43):
For the candidate going forward.

Speaker 3 (33:45):
I agree, mess right now?

Speaker 9 (33:47):
Got Jeff Pears, Yes, yeah, I just went to Pierce
the other day.

Speaker 1 (33:51):
You did?

Speaker 4 (33:51):
No, I didn't.

Speaker 3 (33:53):
I being my elbowls, fine, my bows, Fine, you got
that tennis.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
Nah.

(37:40):
here we go Detroit Lions. Sir, how are you with
the draft this past weekend? Because as every Brad Holmes draft,
much is made about it, where he went wrong, where
he shouldn't have did this, and blah blah blah. Meanwhile,
he has an impeccable record and resume as it relates
to that. Here's another draft. Whereas some pundits have ranked

(38:03):
them C plus C minus the bottom of the draft,
one of the ones that Mask sent the most valuable
UHWE NFL draft classes had them ranked second from last.
Were you with the Lions draft and Brad Holmes the
fifth draft?

Speaker 6 (38:23):
He've been waiting all waken to answer this, Pete, I
sent you an email just to mind sir, Okay, bring
that up in a moment. Here. We're going to add
a little caveat to what I've been saying for a
few years now, and that is that Dan and Brad
have a list of guys that they seem see as elite.
It's not just that they have a short list of

(38:47):
guys that they will allow to be Detroit Lions and
they don't care where they get them. Because Christian Mahogany
should have been a fourth round pick last year, but
he went in the sixth, and now that makes taking
Manu in the third a lot more palatable. If you
look at where we got our guys around in this draft.

(39:08):
They got the guys that they wanted. You might have
wanted them to take somebody else in the third, but
you got the receiver that they wanted that you might
have been able to wait for the Fifth War. But
they don't care because there's something that happened with this
franchise a few years ago that nobody takes enough a cow.

(39:30):
They just don't realize that this is what happened. Chris
Bielman came in with the Fords, and before dan Or
Brad was ever hired, they said, only one thing matters here,
and that is the culture that we are about to build.
So no, these this team doesn't draft to fill holes.
They don't draft because somebody's high on mel Kiper's list.

(39:54):
They identify targets and then they have them come in
here for interviews and then they go out and they
do whatever they can to get them. Now there's a
PFF ranking all the pundits. I don't really care. When
it comes down to analyzing football players and success, no
one does it better in the game than PFF. In

(40:15):
my opinion, when it comes down to moneyball for football,
they are the best. And you want to throw this
graphic up here, let's look at real value.

Speaker 4 (40:25):
I'll try to.

Speaker 6 (40:26):
Team in fourth at the bottom there with a plus
you see is the Detroit Lions got the fourth most
value out of this draft. So you can listen to
the pundits, you can go to Twitter, but year in
and year out, this team drafts guys that don't only play,

(40:46):
but develop into players. And they did that again today
over the weekend. Ahmed Hassanen, you guys are gonna absolutely
love that kid. He's gonna make you forget all all
of your desperate, desperate need for that dresser.

Speaker 3 (41:05):
Yeah no. And we saw him out of Boise State,
saw him play against Penn State at second half and
you could see to get off the ball. Penn State
is usually known for having good offensive line and good system,
so the fact that he did have success, you can
kind of cancel the notion of well it's the competition. No,
he played against Penn State, and when he played against
Penn State, he did show up. So I am excited
to see what that could be, you know, And.

Speaker 6 (41:27):
There's some other weird guys that they talk.

Speaker 3 (41:29):
Yes, there are some other weird guys. Not weird, but
there are some interesting situations where they were taking And
I want to ask you about that, Isaac Tieslaw. You
saw what they did. They moved up to draft a
player that was raided one forty nine on a lot
of boards. And once again it's not about where they
were on other boards and whether we're in the Lions board,
but they moved up two picks. I want you to

(41:50):
explain for the people out there, how did that pick
go because a lot of people say third rounder gowned
two picks, but not necessarily working like that. Explain how
this this trade went.

Speaker 6 (42:01):
When does the NFL Draft stop being conducted Saturday?

Speaker 2 (42:07):
No?

Speaker 6 (42:07):
No, I mean like, when do they stop having a draft?
Is it next year? Its phenomenal because you can trade
next year's third rounder every damn year, and that's what
we continue to do and you can do that. When
I see te Slode looks like a young Tim Patrick

(42:28):
without all the health issues. And then I went on
YouTube and I found some interviews with him. I watched
him riding in a car with a young reporter. The
Kid's Lion so you look at it, Hey, you know
there's guys like Jaden Higgins, and you know you could
move some of these picks around. We could have gotten
this guy there, and then we could have gotten this
guy there instead. But you're just discounting the fact that

(42:50):
these two Dan and Brad they identify guys that fit
this culture and then they go get them. This Teslaw
kid is a Detroit Lion culturally, but his on the
field play, he's only gotten better and better jump levels
and he truly fits the need that the Lions didn't
have last year and why they went out and got

(43:10):
Tim Patrick. Tim Patrick's in his thirties, it's got major injuries,
and he was an awesome player, but in terms of
getting downfield and blocking and laying the wood, because this
kid blocks, but he's also a raz freak. He's a
high point guy. And realistically, you don't have to ask
this guy to be anything but a four or five

(43:30):
option on this team and a gunner on special teams
for its first two years. But this is Jamo insurance
just as much as it is Tim Patrick insurance, because
after Tim's gone after this year, next year, he can
do the things that Tim did the year after that. Again,
I'm not gonna say that he has the high end
speed that Jamo does, but he's still a sub four
to four guy with a big body. And by year three,

(43:53):
when we really need this kid, I think everybody in
Detroit's gonna absolutely love him.

Speaker 3 (43:58):
Yeah, no, Damo does for two. But its difference. It's
like the size that he has, the blocking. Also, he
doesn't drop the ball. He's a hands catching wide receiver.
We knew when Jamen first came, so it's not about
him Birt Jama, but he's a dynamic wide receiver and
you add all the things that I'm excited to kind
of see what it is. I didn't get a chance
to watch him in college, but like you, I watched film.
When you watch one of the things that I've watched

(44:18):
for wide receiver, especially big wide receivers, where you catch
the ball, it's catch. Rady is magnificent. Also, he catches
with one hand, he catches with two hands, but he's
always catching the ball the right way. When he's catching
one hand, he's catching the corner, he's catching the back
of the football, and he's catching up top. It's like
the clock. I appreciate values and things like that, so
excited to see what he is. But yet again it

(44:40):
leaves it's the oh, this guy, this guy, And I'm
glad you pointed out the Lions are only looking for
their guys, not this guy.

Speaker 6 (44:47):
How do you like me comping him to pooking the Coup?

Speaker 3 (44:51):
I think it's fairsting. If we didn't know what pook
and the cool was going to be out of BYU,
you know, we'd be lying if he said Pooka was
gonna be what he was, that he would have fourteen
hundred yards in his rookie season and go for ford
Field as a fresh as a.

Speaker 6 (45:02):
Rookie, inspire a team to trade a record sitting Cooper Cup.

Speaker 3 (45:07):
Out of Yu. So it is very similar. And I
think once you see something, once you see it, is
that all it can be done. Oh maybe this is
what it is. You saw this player have that type
of success. Who's to say a person that doesn't get
it right in the drafting Brad Holmes, who's to say
he didn't see the same thing that listened. So when
you saw pook in the court and they bought him there,
so uh, pete, go ahead.

Speaker 7 (45:29):
Yeah, I was just gonna say, also, well, you can
add into that. I mean, what about John Morton and
Kelvin Shephard. I mean, how much do they go into
the decision making regarding the players of who they want because.

Speaker 4 (45:37):
They're the ones running the system.

Speaker 7 (45:39):
Yeah, it's Dan Campbell's you know, overall umbrella, but they're
the ones calling the shots like the conductor.

Speaker 4 (45:45):
Well, so, I mean I think that that really does matter.

Speaker 3 (45:48):
That the Lions have.

Speaker 7 (45:49):
To fit, to make sure fit their offensive coordinator schemes,
to make sure the whole system operates correct.

Speaker 3 (45:55):
No, I agree with you. What the Lions are doing,
Pete is how Brad Holmes picks his guys. This is
a Brad Holmes guy. I'm gonna draft Jamiir Gibbs. He's
a Brad Holmes guy. I'm gonna get Sam Laporter, I'm
gonna get I'm gonna get Jack Campbell. These are Dan
Campbell guys. What the coach says. And j MO j
Moo is not gonna come in and tell you, hey,
look this player right here, I need him because he

(46:17):
understands that Brad Holmes has to fix on the draft.
He has an idea and what works for him, So
he's not gonna come in here and try to change
the system. What he'll say is, I need a wide
receiver that is six three to sixty four that runs
four four to the high four to three to high
four four that can catch what it's sad like. So

(46:39):
everything that TISLA is, that's what a coordinator will say
to a Brad Holmes, this is what I need. And
then now Brad Holmes, now his job is okay, now
let me go implement the Detroit Lions profile and find
that guy. So that's how they work in conjunction. He's
not gonna tell him go draft right, He's not gonna player,
he's this player, and then Brad can go find that

(47:00):
type of play the fifty aesthetic what the Lions now
are yea.

Speaker 6 (47:04):
And realistically, when you have coaches like that coming up
to you telling draft this guy, that's when you get
some problems. And I in terms of that kind of
an issue, we're gonna talk a little bit more about
it when we get to center.

Speaker 3 (47:18):
You know, we keep talking so much about Brad Holmes.
Why don't we Why don't we listen to the man himself.
Here's Brad Holmes talking about the Lions. They just keep
getting better.

Speaker 14 (47:27):
It's an ongoing, NonStop, relentless klimb for just building a
roster in general. So that's it's not a position that's
that that that's off limits. We're always trying to look
to get better. Sometimes you just there's not better out
there past, you know, maybe the current stars you have,

(47:47):
maybe there's not better available versus the current depth you have.
But yeah, we're we're always trying to look for better.
And you know, I definitely would not be doing my
job if I did not continually look at every avenue
and wish will continue to do.

Speaker 3 (48:02):
For sure, I'm gonna pull a Ryan or Mining. Okay,
this this will be a shot that Ryan, what's going off.
Hope everything is good with you and the family. What
I heard when I heard this, but I paid attention
to when I heard this, it's the same thing that
he's been trying to tell us during the season. As
soon as the season's over. Last year, after the draft,

(48:26):
we're good. We are good. We have drafted the players
that we want. We have gone after the players who
want free agency. Over the last four years, soon to
be five, we have built the foundation for a super
Bowl winning team and a team that can have success
for some years. So when he's in the draft and
he's telling you, he's like, he said, look, we looked,

(48:48):
he said, but we got a lot of Basically, we
got a lot of dogs on this team. We got
a lot of guys on this team that are gonna
have to get paid or that we believe in, or
that now this is their second year and they're gonna
have success with this is their third year and now
they're going to have success. Not to mention you're getting
players back from injury, there are guys that are gonna
be on the rods for first half. So he's like, yeah,

(49:09):
we looked, and you know where we where we could
make some adjustments, we can add some people. We did,
but we good over.

Speaker 6 (49:16):
Here, Lions fans that we're confident this team was going
to win the Super Bowl. After the Week eighteen drubbing
of the Vikings. If you've lost faith at any point
in this offseason, take solace in the fact that the
roster as it stands today is so much better than

(49:36):
the roster that was entering the playoffs, and even better
than the roster we started the season with last year.
We are better and we were a fifteen to two
win team last year. It comes down to execution in
the playoffs. I am very curious to see what this
new look offense is going to look like. I know

(49:57):
everybody thinks that the they've got the wizard down there
in Chicago, but if you recall, this was one of
the leading offenses in the league when Dan Campbell was
making the play calls. So I am curious to see
what kind of changes we have defensively and offensively with
new DC andnoc here. But in terms of personnel, yeah,

(50:18):
Bray were good.

Speaker 3 (50:19):
Yeah, I definitely. I definitely think we're coming to an
age where I believe in what this man is saying.
We talked about seeing saying is believing. Well fifteen and
two and what they've done.

Speaker 6 (50:29):
You know where we're not good though?

Speaker 3 (50:30):
Where are we now?

Speaker 6 (50:31):
We are not good? In the Super Chat, Michael Werry
is the only guy that got the medals, Michael Wherry
with the first Super Chat. Bray I had the same
issue Taylor made all day.

Speaker 3 (50:42):
Baby, Hey, what tell me about it? Man? That's sim two,
simtoos what brought me to Taylor? Mate? Well, the R
seven is who brought me to Taylor, mate, sim too
brought me back home, so I wanted him saying, shut up, appreciate.

Speaker 6 (50:53):
I want to catch everybody up in the chat. We
are giving away another huge giveaway today. My man Pete
really helped us out. Bunch of Boston cards here, brought
in a pack of unopened tops for you. Of course
we got the Brayleen Edwards rookie that he's gonna get
signed for you. But today today's special. Yeah, because Bray
doubled down and obviously all of you guys that contribute

(51:16):
to get in on this giveaway, we're gonna create that
big wheel. But whoever the top three, top three contributors
are today, we're gonna put you in a separate wheel
so you can go golfing with Braylan Edwards, the most
influential Wolverine athlete to come out of ann Arbor this century,
the century.

Speaker 3 (51:35):
You know, you guys are too kind. You guys are
too kind. I'm remind him, Bray, you know every once
why you do need to be reminded. You need to
be reminded that you know what the hell you're doing.
I think Brad Holmes knows what the hell he's doing.
You know what else thinks Bradholmes knows what he's doing.
It's our good friend, all right, May Ruff and my
thirty third up team. He thinks that you should listen
to Bradholmes, Dan.

Speaker 8 (51:56):
Camp Let's all I watched together.

Speaker 10 (51:58):
We're another one will be here as we keep on
going through takeaways. And the reason this one was interesting
for me because the Lions, we know how good they
draft over the years. I mean, Brad Holmes has proven himself, like,
don't question me, do not. I remember the Jumior Gibbs,
Jack Campbell, Sam Laporta draft. Everyone was like, what are
you guys doing? Everyone's giving them failing grades. Of course,

(52:19):
those guys were all amazing their first from their first
three picks. There was Tyler Williams at pick twenty eight,
Tate Ravage at fifty seven, then Isaac Tesla at number seventy.
I want to look at two of those guys, specifically,
Tyler Williams was not somebody who was talked about as
a first round pick.

Speaker 6 (52:37):
Love it, absolutely, love it, high production power school wants
to be Here. Came in for an interview and knocked
it out of the park. Already had a hat waiting
in his living room and that was the only one
he wanted to put on that guy wants to be
at Detroit Lion. He's a Midwest kid. I love that.

Speaker 3 (52:56):
Pick, appreciate that. Keep it going.

Speaker 7 (52:58):
Bet you got it, buddy, hang on, let me get
it back and we get drafted.

Speaker 10 (53:02):
He's an exceptional run stuffer. But the Lion's taking him there.
I found that to be very interesting because they clearly
saw something with him where it was like, no, no, no,
we're taking you in the first round. Again, It's very
reminiscent to me when they took Jack Campbell, when they
took Sam Laporta, when they took jamiro Gibbs, where everyone
on the contentstant sport I don't know the contentsant board
in front of me, but Tyle Leek was not a

(53:23):
number twenty.

Speaker 4 (53:24):
I'll tell you that.

Speaker 10 (53:24):
I'm about She was nowhere close to that. So them
taking him there, they clearly saw something that skyr in
the department Bradholme as in particular Dan Campbell, where it's like, no,
we're taking him here. The other one that was the
most interesting to me was Isaac Testa, the wide receiver.
Right at Arkansas's round three pick seventy consensus Sport. He
was somewhere in the middle hundred. I would say, I

(53:45):
have to go the exact number, but he was there.
The reason it's so interesting to me because they aggressively
traded up to get him. They gave up a third
round pick in this year's draft and two third round
picks in next year's draft to the Jaguars to make
sure they get Tesla here in this draft, so that
one in particular, I mean, they've been looking for a
guy across from Alma lasting Brown for the last couple

(54:07):
of years. I would say, like they've had guys. Josh
Reynolds was there. They tried a few different people there,
Tim Patrick. Last year, they saw something with isa Tesla
for them to go out there and treade three third
round picks, including two next year, to go off to
number seven the third round to go and get him.
I would be watching Isaac this entire Rookiemanning camp into

(54:27):
OTAs into.

Speaker 3 (54:30):
If Isaac Tesla does seventy with the Detroit Lions believe
that they could do this year, is number nine here
next year?

Speaker 1 (54:43):
Really?

Speaker 6 (54:44):
The question that's on a lot of people's minds because
seeing this kid taking where he was, seeing the capital
that they gave up This is not a kid that
they see. It's just somebody that's going to maybe fit in.
This is a piece of their future. And I think
that you have to give your off some insurance if
you have to get out from underneath Jamo. Let's assume
that he stays out of trouble this year. Yeah, but

(55:06):
you look at the guys that they're resigning, and you
look at the championships that have been one around the league.
You're not spending fifty million dollars plus on two wide
receivers and winning championships. I'm sure it's done. I'm sure
we can go and find one. But this really gives
them an out. This, Yeah, this gives them an out,
and it gives them an opportunity to to trade Jmo.

(55:27):
If this kid works.

Speaker 7 (55:28):
Out fair enough, Pete, tell you what, man, if you're
making that kind of a move, then then I have
no problem with it because if you like what you like,
then you like what you like and you might as
well be what you want to be. And I think
that the Lions know that they want to get the
ball spread around. It helps Jamior Gibbs at the balls
spread around. It's a I think this is a small

(55:49):
version of another weapon, if you will, for the Lions.
And I think that that's how they're going to use
mister tesla Is as a weapon.

Speaker 4 (55:56):
He's going to be running the ball as well.

Speaker 3 (55:58):
And no one him was saying, and they want to
heavily on a run. That's why you want them to
bring him as a sixty three guy. He's blocks, he's
two thirty five. They want to lean in on a
run for the years to come. So I definitely can't
see that. How about we do this, sir, take a
quick commercial break. You got it, We come back. There's
more going on with the business, I mean, excuse you
with the lines. Also, Kirby Joseph. Gotta talk about Kirby
Joseph that I feel that we negated him the last

(56:19):
day and a half. So we'll get to Kirby Joseph.
But now let's get a little message in from a
YO yesterday answer. I did not believe that one hundred
and sixty nine dollars per month or five ninety nine

Welcome back to the second hour of the show. Anson Wells,
Ricky Burns and Peace fiback Alreadys joining me. We were
listening to the video Ari may Roe talking about trusting
Brad Holmes just now. He was just talking about talk
Williams and then he was breaking down Isaac telaw teeslaw
getting back to the teleak thing in terms of he

(01:00:36):
saw why they want him, or he kind of saw, I
see what they're looking at with him. The NFL is
starting to go back to the game of running the football,
and a lot of running the football are stretch zone runs,
their RPO runs. They all do what they developed in
the middle and they go outside and end up kicking outside.
What you saw with Talit Williams his ability to move laterally, Yeah,

(01:00:59):
that was one of the biggest thing. So when Ari
said that, it popped in my head. I like that
lateral ability because that's what the game is going The
Kyraen Williams of the World. Saquon Barker's the World we
got two of them on our team. That's where it's
getting back to the running back. I think that's what
they saw him, and if that's what it is, I
appreciate it. This is lateral movement at three thirty five
is only going to get better.

Speaker 6 (01:01:20):
Yeah, and it's going to help tremendously with the run game.
It's gonna help tremendously with the screen game. But you
mentioned something on Friday, and you were talking about what
a great interior defensive line does for the production of
your edges. Lions didn't take an edge rusher in the
first four rounds, five rounds or something like that, right,

(01:01:43):
and everybody was worried about it. But the fact is
is this guy in the middle who is going to
be playing a lot for a leam early on in
the season because we won't have him. But this guy's
going to make our edges better. He's going to make
Marcus Davenport more effective. When the Lions announced that Z
is coming back to Detroit and that's gonna happen. Z

(01:02:03):
is going to be better because of this help. Inside.
Seeing the interviews with this Tyler a kid, I don't
care if he wasn't ranked twenty and he was closer
to fourty and we took him at twenty eight. He's
a Dan and Brad guy. And these guys like Shamar Stewart,
they had four and a half sackles in their sackles

(01:02:25):
sackles his entire time there. I think he had ten
tackles for loss his entire college career. Give me production,
give me a power conference school. This kid is going
to come in and be ready to play day one
and contribute.

Speaker 3 (01:02:44):
Something about circles, just screams, pulls. Another thing too about this,
And I know depth isn't what you want to hear
in the first round, but it is the depth of
this defensive line which we didn't have. And I'm glad
you said at that last year, getting into the playoffs,
getting even in the middle of the season, to the
end of the season and in the playoffs. That defensive

(01:03:06):
line was hampered all season long and started when the
big felt well, start when Davenport went down. You look
at now the defensive interior. Just listen to these names.
Speaking of depth, You got a Lee McNeil when he
comes back, got DJ Reader and you saw what he
was in the run game last year without Aiden Hutchinson. Right,
you got Lee who when his back is fine, he's

(01:03:28):
a hell of a player. Sure, Talik Williams. You just
picked up from Ohio State. Roy Lopez, a filler from Arizona.
We know he's not coming in to give you five sacks,
but he's a filler. He's a body, and we saw
how important bodies were the last season. You got h
excuse me, Makay Wingo Lsu was the stud of elexandar
So another guy that got injured for you last year.

(01:03:49):
This is another body that you have, and you have
Miles Adams like you're deep now at the defensive tackle.

Speaker 6 (01:03:55):
They bring back the profit too. Mohammad al Qaeda D
T four.

Speaker 3 (01:03:59):
I said, Kadeen, Yeah, he'll be back. I think so now.

Speaker 6 (01:04:05):
Was he was a revelation out of all the no
name guys that they filled in and all those open
spots on the defensive line, he was. He was a
very pleasant surprise. But you just said it, man, all
those names, would we have a quarter of them twenty
percent of them come playoff time. This team, they've invested

(01:04:25):
into this defensive line the same way that we've seen
them invest in the offensive line. The entirety. They did
it again in the draft, doubling down on offensive lineman.
Game is won at the trenches. Even with all the
passing that's going on, it's still one in the trenches,
and now we finally have the personnel to match up
with anybody in the trenches.

Speaker 3 (01:04:45):
One of big movies that they made in the second
round was moving up for tay Rallyes. They picked up
a guard and we knew that that was a possibility.
We knew that they should just looking out what this
offensive line has been ages, guys moving around. How do
you you feel about this guy? Because one thing that
I love it we talked about is it's the schools,
It's where people come from. He's a Georgia boy. And

(01:05:07):
guess what tattoo he got on his arm last last
year before he even knew Detroit Lions. I'm saying he.

Speaker 6 (01:05:18):
Is a beautiful scum bag, isn't He is an absolute, crazy,
beautiful scumbag. And you see that that clipping him at home.
His thighs were bigger than his mom. Pause, and you
look at it, You look at his dad and his mom,
and you could see like this guy looks like a
guy that would never shed a tear, but yet you

(01:05:39):
could tell he was emotionally struck by what had just happened.
And you look at this guy's rad score. You back
to eighty seven, and he is the number eight out
of thousands of his position. In terms of Rascal, he
ranks eighth. And I think the kid that we got

(01:05:59):
from us you is also in the top twenty. So
don't sleep on that rad score, but don't sleep on
the culture here. That kid's a scumback and he's our scumbag.

Speaker 7 (01:06:10):
Braandley, can I ask well that one thing, man, I
noticed one thing at the draft. What happened when you
know what were the picks for the Jets and what
were the picks for the Bear is line line Lions
just you know, they know how to build a team.
They know how to build a program, and building to
get a title through the O and the D line
in those trenches is just how you do it.

Speaker 4 (01:06:32):
This is a lot of fun to experience, Bray people.

Speaker 3 (01:06:34):
You get to say, see if you get that pigeon up.
But man, just so other people that he had the
lion no big if you.

Speaker 8 (01:06:39):
Can, oh sure, I'll try to find that.

Speaker 3 (01:06:42):
I said, I said it to the oh did you okay?

Speaker 8 (01:06:44):
God, thank you.

Speaker 6 (01:06:45):
I want to drop something from the chat here real quick.
Michael Werry just hit us and honestly, we got to
catch up with some super chests. I want to I
want to read Michael Werry's first shout out, second one
for the day, and a ten dollars one too. Detroit
Lions drafted three top sleepers and Miles Frasier, A Khmed
Hastening and Dan Jackson. Now this is where it gets

(01:07:07):
really interesting. Not a single player taken on Day three
has missed the fifty three man roster in their rookie season.
Everyone drafted by Dan.

Speaker 3 (01:07:18):
And that's interesting how much of that is and as quick,
how much of that is because they made the team
or how much of that because will on our hit rate?

Speaker 6 (01:07:27):
To look back, well, in the very beginning, it was
because we had a JV. Ross Johnson, you know. But
now as we're getting to as we're getting a full roster,
you don't need all seven picks. In fact, you don't
have the spots for all seven picks. And so that's
why Lions fans should not be upset at watching this
regime package capitol this year as well as future caple

(01:07:49):
to go and get their guys because their guys don't miss.

Speaker 3 (01:07:52):
I'm glad you said that, because in the past, we
never talked about the kansasay Chiefs and who they drafted
in the fourth round. We never talked about who the
Pages drafted in the fifth round. We never talked to it.
They insert team that's winning Super Bowl. You don't talk
about past the first three rounds because it's not much
there to what their team already is. If you could
do me a favorite peak, put up the undrafted free agents,

(01:08:14):
because not everybody got drafted. Anson wells, we got nine
undrafted free agent guys. And I know, I know. This
is Anson's cup of tea. This is what Anson makes
his bones. He is able to point out the guys
that are gonna make the squad. He's everle gonna point
out the guys that are sleepers. I have a question
for you. There was one man on this roster that

(01:08:36):
was paid two hundred grand two hundred grand to make
this team, and he is a wide receiver like me.
Tell me about the potential for Jackson Meeks to make
the squad of what he could potentially be on this
team because they did pay him two hundred games.

Speaker 6 (01:08:49):
Wow, son of Clarence peaks from trading places by the.

Speaker 4 (01:08:52):
Way, interesting, Oh turn up.

Speaker 8 (01:08:56):
Clarence speaks.

Speaker 6 (01:08:58):
I've got a guy. I've got a guy who is
my insider, and he he hits at least fifty percent
of the time with stuff that we're not talking about.
He's ecstatic about this Beaks kid. So I think that
once again, we got a guy in Isaiah Williams last
year that because of all of the injuries in the

(01:09:20):
defense we had to let go. We exposed him to
the practice squad and he was picked up on waivers.
That's a guy we'd still like to have here, especially
when we lost Khalif Raymond. It really was a bad
loss when you looked at it in the hindsight. This kid,
this kid's gonna make the team and you guys are
gonna like him very much.

Speaker 3 (01:09:40):
So fair enough, you know, he's our team and wants
to be the best that he can be. He wants
to be the best who's in the league at his position.
He's your favorite. Kerry Joseph, my goals.

Speaker 1 (01:09:56):
Man.

Speaker 15 (01:09:56):
I want to be the best.

Speaker 3 (01:09:58):
I need to be the best. I need to put
on gold jacket.

Speaker 15 (01:10:00):
I feel like It's just everything I ever worried, yeah,
all my life.

Speaker 3 (01:10:03):
Like I just feel like.

Speaker 15 (01:10:06):
That gold jacket, you missed that in with a super
Bowl you know what I'm saying. Super Bowl champion, you
know what I'm saying. I feel like that's just a
great little mix right there.

Speaker 3 (01:10:14):
You can't never take that away from me.

Speaker 15 (01:10:16):
So I just feel like that's just two things that
I really want to go for the super Bowl for
my team, you know what I'm saying, as a teammate
and as I player for the Lions, and definitely just
to put on that gold jacket one day, you know,
and record be recognized for you know what I'm saying,
all my talent.

Speaker 3 (01:10:33):
I love when players that are starting to get to
that point where they're recognized, as you know, in that
conversation with the best in appears, maybe top five toxics.
We know he's top three, maybe top one. I love
when they want to go higher. I love when they
create the gold jacket. I hate when people say, don't
worry about the gold jacket. Let the gold jacket come.
No no, no, no, no no no. You want an

(01:10:54):
individual to raise his raised his mental especially if he's
team oriented already, we know what he is as a teammate.
Now go get that golden jack because if he goes
to get the golden jacket, you know what that means,
he's the best version of itself.

Speaker 6 (01:11:07):
That's right.

Speaker 3 (01:11:08):
Ed Reid didn't come and league and said, and I
just want to you know, I just hope. I'm okay.
Now I'm gonna get this gold jacket and in that journey,
I'm gonna raise my teammates up. I'm gonna be a
good teammate. So I love this attitude from him.

Speaker 6 (01:11:20):
I love it. I love it.

Speaker 3 (01:11:21):
I love shout to the big ten, by the way,
and you got some super chats going on. I do.

Speaker 6 (01:11:25):
But you know, it's really weird that you love that
when he says it, but the rest of the NFL
hates it when Shader says it. Just absolutely strange. But yeah,
let's take a look at these super chats. David Smith
breaking the bank today with one hundred dollars super chat. WHOA,
you've firmly put yourself in that wheel to golf with Braylan.

(01:11:50):
But again, remember guys, we got this awesome giveaway. Everybody
can get into that. You want to get a slice
of the pie. But the top three contributors today. You're
gonna get a chance to maybe win a outing with
a legend Braylan Edwards. But David Smith said, relax, it's April.
Our Lions were great before Hutch went down. Still finished
fifteen to three. We're drafting for depth and future never

(01:12:13):
heard of before. Not quite sure what that means. I
do want to catch up on a couple other ones.
Not only are we good, this is Michael Warry again.
Not only good, but we're young and have a lot
of dog in us. We might not lose a game
this year if we stay healthy. I'm not sure about
that one, but I love it. Middle aged sneaker chick
is back. She had so w Did you see the

(01:12:35):
video of Samson Nikua slapping a BattleHawks fan after the
Michigan Panthers game last week? Oh?

Speaker 2 (01:12:42):
What?

Speaker 6 (01:12:43):
No? But I will be looking for that now that
you say something. Jason Kenyan one of our big winners
from last week, MAZ work nights. If you did it already,
I missed it. Just woke up post what I sent you?
Uh make it made in the USA. FM. Nicks kid
needs d book, bring him home. I'm not sure that

(01:13:03):
there are timelines matchup. But to come back to the
safety of the hour, the safety de jure a guy
that is really the best in the league and just
got paid for it. It's under It's interesting because we
have a guy being mentioned in the same breath as
Wilt Chamberlain and Oscar Robertson, and we have a guy
being mentioned in the same breath as Ed Reid, Kirby Joseph.

(01:13:28):
Anybody that didn't want this kid resigned, you just don't
see what he means. This guy won three games on
his own. Maybe my favorite.

Speaker 3 (01:13:36):
Lion maybe, now that's saying a lot, but Edward's.

Speaker 6 (01:13:40):
My all time favorite player. And when you do something
and only read ed Reid has done, you get my radar.

Speaker 3 (01:13:46):
Bro Pete Ricky, you guys have anything to say about
Kirby before I let answer and go off about a
certain player that just got drafted.

Speaker 7 (01:13:52):
Yeah, I do, actually real quick as I am making
the wheels as we speak right now, guys, But real quick,
let me throw in, man, Kirby Joseph came here to
play freaking ball. Now you can see why the Lions
drafted this guy. And he's totally a Campbell sort of guy.
Dan Campbell kind of guy, and he deserves every freaking cent,
especially when you lead the NFL in interceptions and not

(01:14:14):
only do it, but do it like a boss. And
that's the kind of guy you need on the team.

Speaker 4 (01:14:18):
He is a boss.

Speaker 7 (01:14:18):
And I know that we all talk about Brian Branch
being the captain on the defense of this captain of
the secondary, which is fine, but it's Kirby Joseph's secondary.

Speaker 4 (01:14:26):
To be low.

Speaker 3 (01:14:27):
He wears the sea in my.

Speaker 7 (01:14:28):
Opinion, because he's always there in the right place at
the right time. What a smart player, Bray, He does
his homework. You don't make interceptions and lead the league
interceptions if you don't do your homework. And that's what
I really like about Kirby Joseph.

Speaker 9 (01:14:41):
What do you think, Ricky, I'll agree with the last
thing you said. That's the first thing I was gonna
lead with his football. IQ's unmatched. Like some of the
plays he'll make, they'll go back and replays. I'm like, yo,
that's how did he even know that? That man is smart?
He definitely should be going for that gold Jackie. Why
would people not want a player on your team to
want to be the best, And that's who I want
on my football team. I don't want anybody look who

(01:15:02):
think wants to be second or thirdne I want somebody
say I'm the best.

Speaker 4 (01:15:05):
I want to be the best, and they show up
every day.

Speaker 3 (01:15:07):
Let's be clear. He is the best secondary. He excuse me,
he is the best safety on the team.

Speaker 1 (01:15:14):
He is.

Speaker 3 (01:15:15):
I played in Seattle when we had Bam Bam Cam
and you had Earl Thomas. Now we knew who had
to hit. We know who the big hit it was.
You know they both get. We knew who the big
hit it was. We know who the athlete was, we
know the guy that was. He may have been the
heartbeat that was Cam, but the best safety was Earl Thomas. Interesting,
and that wasn't enough for to be interesting. I think

(01:15:36):
the best safety in this situation, I think it is
Kirby Joseph. I think Brian Thomas is something different. I
mean Brian giving Brian Branch something different.

Speaker 6 (01:15:43):
And big hits her are sexier than interceptions at this point,
both yeah, yeah and Branch. Branch does so many different things.
But the captain, the guy that holds it all together
in the backfield, it's Kirby, right.

Speaker 3 (01:15:58):
I put to you like this when I in the
NFL in two thousand and nine, well two thousand nine,
played with Carry Carry Roads. Carry Rose plays Safety Carry Roads.
He proposed Safety out of Los shout out.

Speaker 1 (01:16:10):
To my boy.

Speaker 3 (01:16:12):
Carrie was an individual that he put everybody in their position,
much like Ed reed I never played with Ed Reeves,
so I couldn't speak from everybody. It's the same thing.
He placed Darrel Reeves. Now, Darrel Revis is Darrel Reeves
like Darrel Rieves is. This is Rivers Island. But when
you have a safety that knows the game and that
knows when you can take your chances and when you

(01:16:32):
need to sit yourself still and when you're on the
wrong side, and when you have a safety a guy
that leading that decause captain like that. He puts guys
in position and it works. So Brian Branton's elite went.
He went to Alabama. We know the spill. You saw
his first game picked six Chiefs and arrow Head. Kirby
Joph is the one that's placing. Kirby Joseph is placing.

(01:16:54):
And that's what I love about Kirby Joseph. It reminds
me of that energy and Carrie had putting revers in
the situation and look, yeah you can blitz on this play.
Yeah you can play man man even though it's covered too.

Speaker 6 (01:17:04):
Just move one foot to the right.

Speaker 3 (01:17:06):
And that's what Kirby Joseph is for Brian Branch, and
this line secondary.

Speaker 6 (01:17:12):
And I do anticipate them giving an extension to Brian Branch.
And I guess my question for you is you're the
NFL historian. If these guys play together for as long
as I think they're going to, they have an absolute
chance to be considered the greatest safety duo in NFL history.

Speaker 3 (01:17:31):
Yeah, the leasion the boom started to fall when Cam
got hurt, they would have done everything to keep Cam
man Earl Thomas. They're gonna do everything to keep Brian
Branch and Kirby Joseph like, just like you have it
on the other end with Jamiir Gibbs and David Montgomery.
They work better together now individually. Jamir Gibbs is great
betweling with David Montgomery, and you have your thunder and
lightning Brian Branch Kirby Joseph together, they have a thunder

(01:17:53):
and lightning on the opposite side of the ball. Now,
let's put a pin in this for two seconds, because
I know we got to get back to the Pistons.
But befo, before we get to the Pistons, there was
a player that fell in the draft this past weekend.
We've talked about it yesterday, but you have it, Shador Sanders.
Once potential top three turned into top first or first round,

(01:18:15):
turned into a fifth round draft pick this past weekend.
What is your thoughts on the entirety of the situation?

Speaker 6 (01:18:23):
Well, you know, I'm curious when they were having interviews
with Peyton and Eli Manning, did they penalize them for
saying they want to be a legend for saying they
wanted that gold jacket? When they hung the photo everywhere
of Eli and Archie and Peyton, did it elicit negative reactions?

(01:18:47):
Why are so many people upset with the Sanders family.
This is one of the greatest NFL players ever, arguably
one of the greatest athletes ever. Based I'd put about
Bo Jackson ahead of them. This is a family that
went and took a bo dunk Southern Florida expansion basically

(01:19:12):
college team, and put him on the map so much
to the point that Colorado begged to have all of them,
and then they went there and they turned to Colorado,
you know the Colorado team around And now you've got
this guy who you look at some of these players
like Taylor Slog or whatever, Slug or whatever his name is.

(01:19:33):
This guy has no business being drafted ahead of Shador.
But I don't want to get too far into that
because I'm sure plenty of you get that was done
over the weekend. I know I text you a lot
over the weekend. I was pretty upset. I got a
question for You've got five guys now in the quarterback room.
In you got you got the ghost of Joe Flacco,

(01:19:55):
You've got the You've got the the escaped inmate of
mister Watson. You've got a rookie who was drafted in
the third round of this same draft, Gabriel, Dylan Gabriel.
And then you got another guy that I don't even
know who it is. But right now it's plus three
point fifty if you are betting for just to make

(01:20:18):
this team. But you know, you know who has the
number three selling jersey in the NFL right now, Schadure
Sanders of course. And at some point the rubber has
to hit the road or however that meets it whatever.
So at some point you've got to look at your
franchise and you say, well, we're selling a hell a

(01:20:39):
hello to these jerseys. If we waive this guy, a
poverty franchise like the Browns would probably not allow him
to get to their practice squad. I just don't understand
right now how people can look at this kid and
not see him as the best on film that they
have of those five. So to me, I think that

(01:21:02):
Flacco needs to make the team. I don't know how
you get away from Watson, But now one of these
two rookie quarterbacks, how do you spend a third round
pick and a fifth round pick and not keep them
on your active roster. Because if you keep two and
you push these guys through waivers to try and keep
them and hide them on your practice squad, they're gonna
lose them both. But I think that Shaduur Sanders, much

(01:21:25):
like our guy Alman Ross Saint Brown, he's keeping receipts
and he's gonna make thirty one franchises pay. I would
take the money on Shaduur Sanders making this team, and
I would not be shocked that after Watson face plants
that this young man might have control of this team
by week ten.

Speaker 3 (01:21:47):
Yeah, I think the start of the season is gonna
be I think they're gonna have Kenny Pickett, Joe Flacco
and Shadu Sanders will be there. Not to Sean, it
sounds hurt, It sounds mentally destroyed, and he's physical.

Speaker 6 (01:22:00):
Did they do with him?

Speaker 3 (01:22:01):
What can you do with me? You're still on ninety's
seventy nine million dollars or ninety two.

Speaker 6 (01:22:06):
Just put put him on the pop or what.

Speaker 3 (01:22:09):
Put for now? Pup for now. They bought Joe Flocco
back for a reason. You got Kenny Piggy, who started
some games in recent years. Kenny probably started as your
starter just based off of him playing the lead. Joe
Floko missed all of last year. Joe Flocco's your number two,
you know. And then maybe Dylan Griviy because of how
he got drafted. He's above shoulder, but I don't think
he'll beat Shader out.

Speaker 6 (01:22:28):
I don't know.

Speaker 3 (01:22:29):
You can say what you want to about all the
other stuff. I watched the film like you watched the film.
He's a much better quarterback. And then Kyle is Kevin Stefenski,
he excuse me, Kyle Stefanski. He knows, he knows the
offensive position, he knows the offense. So we'll see, We'll
see what happens with him in that situation. Like everybody's
a fault in the situation we talked about that yesterday.

(01:22:49):
Is what it is is travel and I'll tell you everywhere.

Speaker 6 (01:22:53):
I hope that this kid absolutely sets this trend in reverse.

Speaker 3 (01:22:58):
He started with the prank, like how he dealt with
the print call. I think that is the beginning. And
then he interviewed, he say, look, I'm just like he
was humble, but he's coming in and he's ready. His
last name is still what it is.

Speaker 6 (01:23:10):
Is he gonna struggle having a different coach for the
first time in his life? Yeah, yeah, because since seven
years old, his dad's been his.

Speaker 3 (01:23:16):
But also to the bad thing about it, you see
the reaction to when they drafted him, which lets you
know it came down from the owner and not the
offensive coordinator. So that's the part that bothers me, because
the head coach is the offensive coordinator. And if he's
not excited, that means George's isn't getting free shots. That
means he's getting a few, and those few have to

(01:23:36):
be flawless, for him to get more. That's the only
thing that bothers me, because you can. They were like,
you should do what saying this hold on? Didn't you
guys draft him? Aren't you the head coach who's also
the offensive coordinator. You didn't draft him, You owner did.
So that's the only thing that bothers me.

Speaker 6 (01:23:51):
Really pulling for this young man. Yeah, it's terrible what's
going on, not only at the draft but on social media.
Not gonna lie. Seeing a lot of my friends in
the new life these days.

Speaker 4 (01:24:03):
Man, it's like the election all over again.

Speaker 3 (01:24:09):
Ricky, let's do this. Let's take a quick commercial break.
We'll switch the information, will switch the energy, because I
think we got to get back into the Pistons. Hey,
I think we have to get back into the Pistons.
Potentially could be the Pistons last game of the season.
It won't be, no, but potentially. So let's get back
into the first Ricky, tell us a little bit about

Game five for the Detroit Pistons of New York and
this is tonight. But before we get into that, why
don't you show us a little bit about that will
Because you showed me that will p and it was
eating up.

Speaker 7 (01:28:33):
Well, it's gonna take me a second to bring it over,
braand hang on a second. Just give me a quick second,
my friend.

Speaker 3 (01:28:38):
Do you take your time and we will get started
answering you talked earlier. Let me ask you like this,
what do you need to see from the Pistons in
the first quarter, in the first quarter of the basketball
game to understand that last game mint some tune A lead.

Speaker 6 (01:28:56):
A lead, I mean, you come home after you play
as well as you do in MSG and both games.

Speaker 3 (01:29:02):
But they've led, They've led almost in every game in
the first quarter.

Speaker 6 (01:29:06):
They've started slow at home both times and they started
slow in Game two. This is a this is a
team that has the energy, that has the youth, and
again I think they're just young and dumb enough to
to just completely brush off what happened at LCA both
nights and go out there and play like a like

(01:29:26):
a playoff team. But they have to get up. They
have to carefully manufacture their offensive shots. And if they
come out and they think that they're just gonna hit
threes early on and they don't work the post, if
the three isn't falling, they're gonna find themselves down eight
points by the time that the second quarter comes around.

(01:29:47):
And again, we can we can get out of that hole.
We've shown it time and time again. But the emotional
impact of coming out in MSG early, bringing the energy
and getting yourself even just a four point lead to
leave that first quarter, it sets the tone. It tells
not only the New York Knicks, but all of those

(01:30:09):
peasants in the seats that the Pistons have come to
play period.

Speaker 3 (01:30:15):
Pete, Yes, sird question for you, go and get involved
in this, man. What do you need to see out
of these Pistons at halftime, at halftime, by halftime, when
it is when it's a halftime zero zero, getting ready
to go to third What do you need to see?
What do you want the Pistons to be?

Speaker 7 (01:30:30):
I want the Pistons to end the second quarter with
extreme grit, fights and determination to prove a point in
the last three minutes of the second quarter that this
game is not in the control of the New York
Knicks nor the New York Knicks fans. By the end
of the second quarter, I need the Knicks fans wondering

(01:30:51):
what the heck is going on. I need a complete
confusion by mister Tibbs and all the rest of his
friends that he's got there on the bench. He's got
to make sure that his team is absolutely discombipulated.

Speaker 8 (01:31:06):
But that goes to what a.

Speaker 4 (01:31:07):
Point that Anston was saying earlier.

Speaker 8 (01:31:09):
That'll be on JB.

Speaker 7 (01:31:10):
Bickers staff to make sure that his team's head is correct,
that his game plan is correct, and that he finds
a way to take the crowd, take mister Tibbs and
his friends out of the game. Because once you do
that to start the third quarter, we'll see you back
here in Detroit for game sex.

Speaker 3 (01:31:27):
What do you guys say?

Speaker 4 (01:31:28):
I like that?

Speaker 3 (01:31:28):
What I want to see from the Pistons in this
game is how about you play like professionals? How about
you play like some professionals coach like this. It's the
simple things. I'm not asking you to go out there
and score fifty. I'm not asking you to score forty.
As individual players, I understand it. But you can eliminate
the turnovers right time. But you can eliminate boxing out,
being out of position. You can eliminate the dumb shots

(01:31:51):
at some point, Malik Beasley, come on, now, where are you?
This is the player that I want. That's the next
question I wanted to get into is what player for me?
It's Malik Beasy, me lead. Beezy is somebody that we've
talked about all season long. Malik Thresley, as they call him, excited,
he enjoys de Troy. He's another guy that's not from
here but embraced it. And now we say, yo, we

(01:32:12):
want this guy to come back. I gotta see it
like I gotta see it where it doesn't look like
you're hoping that you can return to what you were
this season. You're hoping that you can play like you
did in the regular season. When the light's warning is bright, like, bruh,
we not asked you to go out there and do
that much. It's go out there be the player that
you were in the regular season. That's who I need,

(01:32:34):
and that's what I need. No, not no turnovers, but
you can't have eight turnovers in the last eight minutes
of the game. You can't miss boxing out when the
guy is right there. He's the tallest person on the court.
You know, cats right there, you know that's the guy
that you gotta box out. But yet and still he
gets two rebounds in two buckets. Like, just eliminate the

(01:32:54):
silly things. That's what I want.

Speaker 6 (01:32:57):
The youthful miscues have been destroyed this team. We should
be up three to one if we didn't have those miscues.
I need to see Beasley hit early, and if he doesn't,
I need to see somebody I've never seen.

Speaker 3 (01:33:14):
Before, Beza get into game too late. No, okay, no.

Speaker 6 (01:33:18):
Maybe he gets I think he stays in too long
when he's not shooting. Well, we've got a guy that
can hit threes, and we paid him to hit threes
and bring energy, which is simony fun teching. You know,
you guys know, I'm not a huge fan of him,
but he is a better defender than Beasley. And then
you look at Sassar and Sasser is a guy that
is a good ball handler. He brings in a lot

(01:33:41):
of speed and he can hit the three as well.
I need quicker adjustments from JB. Bickerstaff and come on
guys like they got a four man ro taste in
New York. And then Josh Hart. We've got nine, ten
to eleven guys and we've only seen past eight because
of the injury to Isaiah Stewart. So for me, I

(01:34:03):
want to see some people we haven't seen yet. I'm
waiting for that chess move that Kurt Rambus in the lineup,
that let's start Tayshaun Prince in O three type of time.
I remember all the great coaches, whether it's Chuck Taylor,
whether it's pat Riley, whether it was Casey Jones. These
guys dialed up a chess move and it was somebody

(01:34:26):
that you don't need seven games out of Fontechio. You
need eight minutes and three hard fouls. That's what I
want to see.

Speaker 3 (01:34:34):
Hey, you do know you watch this series kind of
shaping up, and it's just one of those series that, man,
you look back like man, if I can have this
moment back in Game one, had this moment, I can
have this quarterback or seven minutes back in game four,
like Pistons in this series. But I think they surprised
a lot of people. But at the same time, now

(01:34:55):
that they're here, it's like last year. Remember when the
Tigers made the playoffs last year? Nowhere and then in
those games in the moments when they're playing in the playoffs,
you're not looking at them when they're playing against Houston like, oh,
what they got here?

Speaker 11 (01:35:07):
You know?

Speaker 3 (01:35:08):
It is what it is? What're you happy they're making? No,
You're like, hey, no, you got gotta play, you gotta
do something. They showed us it didn't matter how you
got there. If you can win, you can win. And
that's what I saw out of them. So that's what
I believe is up in the air for the detroit.

Speaker 6 (01:35:21):
And they certainly can win. They've only won in New York,
so they should have plenty of confidence. And as a
sixth seed that tripled your win total, you are playing
with house money, so there's no reason to go in
there tight. They should be very relaxed and they should
be angry. But I'll tell you what I'm a little
angry about the shade that is being thrown towards Kate

(01:35:45):
Cunningham right now. Okay, let's let's talk about three names,
Kate Cunningham, Oscar Robertson, and Welt Chamberlain. Their first four games,
there's a grouping of only those three guys that has
done what Kate has done thus far, which is four
twenty ten games, all right, as a first time in

(01:36:09):
the playoffs player. This guy has no help, He has
no secondary scorer. In fact, a guy that everybody here
in Detroit thought was washed that we brought back in
Tobias Harris has been forced into a secondary scoring role
and has been awesome at it. But when you look
at the kind of offense that JB is drawing up

(01:36:32):
for Kate, it's sixty percent of the time one on
one ISO. They're not getting this guy in the post.
They're not working a two man game with Tobias. They're
not even dumping the ball into a ISO post up
with Tobias. Right now, the guy who seems to be
the most surest calm basket that we can find right

(01:36:53):
now in the playoffs. Listen, Kate is doing every damn
thing that he can had a triple double with four
blocks and two steals, and everybody's mad at him because
he took either the wrong shot or he didn't finish it.
Caid's only going to get better, but you guys are
missing it if you're focused on him. Because a we

(01:37:15):
wouldn't be here without him, be we would have been
swept without him. And what this guy means to this
team and every other guy that finds room to shoot.
It's because of Kate Cunningham. I am sorry, but JB.
Bickerstaff I put so much more of the blame on
even then Beasley missing threes, Isaiah Stewart being out, his

(01:37:40):
rotations are tired, his timeouts crucially, time timeouts are nonexistent.
And to be quite honest with you, when you turn
red and run out into the half court anytime that
you don't like a call, guess what your kids are
gonna do. They're gonna run out in the middle of
the street and yell at your neighbor the same way

(01:38:03):
that JB does. Our emotion flows with Cad and JB.
You don't see Caid losing his stuff out there. You
might see him missing some shots, but emotionally the guy
has not melted down. JB has to rein it in
and he has to unleash the bench. Oh and take

(01:38:24):
a time out when they're on around every once in
a while.

Speaker 3 (01:38:26):
Who's somebody from the New York Knicks that the pissons
just don't want to see? Get going, cat.

Speaker 1 (01:38:32):
Going.

Speaker 6 (01:38:32):
I feel like I feel like that's the obvious answers.

Speaker 3 (01:38:36):
Right, Yeah, you're right.

Speaker 6 (01:38:37):
It's honestly, that game was the Josh Hart game. And
I joke about because Josh Hart came in right here
and Steph dar Baristas because I guess New York money
doesn't work. But this is a guy that you look
at their front five and they've got one of the
best starting lineups and that's it because there ain't nobody

(01:38:59):
else on the bench. But Josh Hart can just completely
disappear in games. He's been out rebounded in this series
as the number two rebounder on the next but he
did everything that he wanted, not only in the intangibles,
but the guy was hitting shots. Him and Michale Bridges
are the two that scare me because if one of
those guys has a very very good game, it doesn't

(01:39:22):
matter if the other guy doesn't because you know they're
gonna give full effort and you know that Brunson and
cad are gonna get theirs. I guess it's one of
those two or Brunson's ankle, because if Brunson's ankle is healthy,
this is a this is a very tough game. But
if he's smart, and if he's looking like Willis Reid

(01:39:43):
actually looked, he might have came out and gotten everybody
on their feet. But if that thing is gonna slow
him down, there's no reason the Pistons can't win three
straight against this team like they did in the regular season.

Speaker 3 (01:39:53):
Good point game one, ogno between three points, game ten,
game three points, game four eight. So he knows what
he's doing. Every eye number seems like he's playing I
don't want and begetting going.

Speaker 6 (01:40:06):
Yeah, I feel that.

Speaker 3 (01:40:07):
I think he's the players and this is the eye game.
So we'll see with him. But they've they've done a
good job with him for the most part. They haven't
allowed him to really take off. Still hamperings and injuries
as well.

Speaker 6 (01:40:17):
And burn drops in with a super chat here he's
given on these cards and in that wheel to go
golfing with legend Braylan Edwards burn says, also, what did
Wilton the Big O have when they finally found playoffs success?

Speaker 1 (01:40:33):
Help?

Speaker 6 (01:40:34):
They had help in the form of Kareem Abdul Jabbar.

Speaker 3 (01:40:40):
Will only got one ring well wrong with.

Speaker 6 (01:40:44):
To Philly Philly And actually that is one of the
reasons why the Warriors are the third best franchised sneaking
all the time, which is just weird to me. But uh,
let's back up a little bit here, because super chat
legend himself Dante one fifty one drop twenty bucks, a
goalfouty with the best Michigan wide receiver in history. Oh

(01:41:09):
hell yeah. Also, the UFL is looking into what happened
between Nkou and the BattleHawks. Still need to look that
one out, my friend. Maybe we can pull that up
before the end of the show. But also answered n
l L Playoffs, Not sure what that is, to be
honest with. You start this Friday, Go Buffalo Bandits. Do

(01:41:29):
you want to go back a little bit more? Jason
Kenyon epiphany of the day z can play yet long
term coaching situation kind of like Bridgewater possible, he thinks, Yeah,
he likes I would see Zadarius having a team friendly
two year deal and player incentive Leyden and hey stick
around and be an assistant on the line.

Speaker 3 (01:41:51):
The only issue, the only issue that I have was
z I don't. I don't have an issue. The only
question that I will ask. He with four sacks last year,
and that's he wasn't playing with you know a lot
of defensive line.

Speaker 6 (01:42:02):
Ye had eight on the season.

Speaker 3 (01:42:04):
I was saying four sacks here and then with four
sacks with the Cleveland Browns obviously the Miles geartt so
you look at it in that space, is with nine
sacks in total five and four. So nine sacks, that's
pretty much we can give you for a season.

Speaker 6 (01:42:17):
But I'll take that.

Speaker 3 (01:42:18):
I would take that. Hell yeah, I will.

Speaker 6 (01:42:21):
But because you know, you know Davenport, if he stays healthy,
is good for three or four.

Speaker 2 (01:42:25):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (01:42:25):
And then you start dialing up of the other guys,
and you know that insider I was I was mentioning
the other day. He loves throwing stats at me, and
he basically broke down the last twenty five years and
the combined total of sacks by the starting defensive ends,
it's not as high as you guys would think. No,
and Miles Garrett and these guys that have been traded

(01:42:46):
for two three picks and not Miles hasn't yet. But
that's what it would take. All of these guys that
we've seen move around the league, these premier edges. How
many rings do they have.

Speaker 3 (01:42:56):
There's only one so far, and that meets the building
is von Miller. Mm hmm. And he wasn't at his
best when he got traded, but guess when he got there,
it worked and he played well opposite it well next
to Aaron Donald, he worked. He had two sacks in
the Super Bowl they won, He got a second Super
Bowl ring DeMarcus where who left, But he didn't go
for a bunch of picks back in the day. But

(01:43:17):
to your point is you're trying to figure it out.

Speaker 6 (01:43:20):
Yeah, and remember those those four sacks that Ze only had.
He did it with the Canadian Football League defensive line.
Noah Le, Noanerique, no Bookend in hutch. You give him
all those guys and throwing ty leak in there. There's
no reason that he finishes under seven sacks. In fact,

(01:43:40):
double digits are absolutely within his roum.

Speaker 3 (01:43:43):
Good point. All right, look, we will take one last
commercial break circle here a little bit from Caesus will
come back. We'll finish the show. I will be doing
Maz's Hockey twenty second up Nagas.

Speaker 6 (01:43:54):
And remember, guys, you got six minutes left to get
in before the raffle closes. It's going to give you
a quick glimpse of them at the wheel, real quick.

Speaker 8 (01:44:04):
Railing wheel.

Speaker 6 (01:44:05):
A lot of chances out there, but remember there's a
much bigger Oh no, that is that's.

Speaker 4 (01:44:10):
That's brailing wheel.

Speaker 8 (01:44:11):
And then here is the contest. The other kind are
cards and everything else. Contest wheel.

Speaker 7 (01:44:18):
Nice So if you qualified for the contest, if you
qualified for the Brailan wheel, you also were.

Speaker 8 (01:44:22):
Put in the contest wheel.

Speaker 6 (01:44:24):
Very good. I love the six minutes guys.

Speaker 4 (01:44:27):
It's just so much fun.

Speaker 3 (01:44:28):

Chubb Shampson. Did you see Nick Chub.

What you know about that? Mats out? Dave Chappelle have bag?

Speaker 3 (01:48:53):
I jumping over the hurdles and then on the last
one he jumps off and expose up hits the ceiling
with his head. He's like they wrote me off, he said,
But my stories is getting started.

Speaker 6 (01:49:03):
Are you drafting them in fantasy leagues this year? Because
I'm not.

Speaker 3 (01:49:06):
No. I want to see him get somewhere. I think
there's some tread barely left on the tires just the
right situation. Seemed like a Jim Harball guy.

Speaker 6 (01:49:14):
I love Judkins. I think this is one of the
best running back classes that we will see.

Speaker 3 (01:49:20):
What was your favorite food in school lunches? Pete.

Speaker 7 (01:49:25):
I'm sorry, my man, there's no there's no argument here.
That's pizza Friday. Baby looked like it looked like something
they pulled off the floor, But I don't care.

Speaker 8 (01:49:34):
Pizza.

Speaker 3 (01:49:34):
What pizza did you guys go to?

Speaker 1 (01:49:36):
Oh wait?

Speaker 9 (01:49:37):
It was like whatever the cafeteria that rectangle, that crazy oily,
but not right, It's like it went perfect with that
chocolate milk at ten twelve.

Speaker 3 (01:49:50):
Ja, mi favorite, that's what chocolate mil What did they
put in that? My favorite was? Yeah, it was It
probably had to be pretzels, pretzels, pretzels. When I went
to when I went to when I went to You
with you would shot to you with the seventh Grade Academy,

(01:50:12):
they had nachos, pretzels. They sold up this first of
these sold things had money or whatever. Warm pretzels. I
love pretzels cheese and they had that. So that was
my favorite lunch, next to pizza from Greggs and Jesus.

Speaker 6 (01:50:27):
Want to hear some blasphemy?

Speaker 3 (01:50:28):
What you got?

Speaker 6 (01:50:28):
I love ketchup on my hot pretzels?

Speaker 3 (01:50:31):
What that's why you can go? You can go nacho cheese,
honey mustard, spicy mustard, lots.

Speaker 6 (01:50:40):
Of different mustards, and I like mustard. I like the
coarse brain ketch up. It's going on my hot dog too.
But well, yeah, don't worry. But if I can only
have one on my hot dog, I'm going ketchup.

Speaker 3 (01:50:54):
Not there you go.

Speaker 4 (01:50:55):
I'm with you on that I only have one. I'm
going to catch up. But I like ketchup.

Speaker 1 (01:50:58):
I like that.

Speaker 9 (01:50:59):
You can't you can't sleep on a Bosco sticks. But
to me, Bosco sticks they had the cheese and it's
like a baystick with cheese in the middle of the
marinara sauce.

Speaker 4 (01:51:09):
I'm good on that.

Speaker 3 (01:51:10):
I could eat.

Speaker 4 (01:51:10):
I could eat there every day of a week.

Speaker 6 (01:51:11):
No, wait a second, see I'm thinking back up to
East Lands and they had bilbos and they had Bosco
sticks there. Yeah, rest in peace, billbos Man. I will
forever miss that place. Not open, No, it's been closed

Speaker 1 (01:52:17):
Though.

Speaker 3 (01:52:18):
You can go off campus if it's lunch on your schedule.
That's how you'd be back there. But you had to
have your lunch. You had to have your your student.
Nine D cop pulled this over. I had my student,
I DM. I was like.

Speaker 6 (01:52:32):
That touchdown on Friday, right, sir.

Speaker 3 (01:52:35):
He's the first cop to follow kids back to high

followers to mister Morgan's.

Speaker 6 (01:52:44):
Office watching he was new.

Now left in Sturgis Mischigon.

Speaker 3 (01:53:18):

Speaker 6 (01:53:19):
There was one down and couldn't culdn't township that disappeared
in the last year. As a suburban kid, all I
wanted was a rallies or checkers Well rallies back in
the day hot Now, I wanted one of those spots,
but had to drive like forty five minutes to give.

Speaker 3 (01:53:34):
As intererty kid, I got tired of looking at those spots.

Speaker 1 (01:53:37):
I was.

Speaker 4 (01:53:38):
He was right on a cusp. So we had rallies
like right down the street.

Speaker 6 (01:53:40):
So what was your suburban dream food? Like, we're going
out to the suburbs. I'm gonna get myself.

Speaker 3 (01:53:45):
Some old what was it?

Speaker 6 (01:53:49):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (01:53:50):
Okays. As a fourteen year old kids. Alexander's is everything
Summerset It was great. Well, we used to go out
to the one on fourteen in the Hagar, okay, but
then Somerset and then seven but everything hit and the
aesthetic made me feel like I was Okay, I'm in
the fancy straight in my backup order like this. Yes,
can I have uh, let me have a glass of water?
So what are your specialist? I still go to the.

Speaker 4 (01:54:16):
Glass of water requests.

Speaker 3 (01:54:17):
They took the sound, which is the way long time
the croissants. Oh my gosh.

Speaker 6 (01:54:21):
So we got Freddie Feldon and Steve O. He's asking me,
but I want to ask everybody here where do you
rank White Castle?

Speaker 3 (01:54:30):
I know one thing we got to get this will going.

Speaker 4 (01:54:31):
That's would you like to do what we do it first?

Speaker 8 (01:54:36):
Or would you like to do the contest wheel overall contest?

Speaker 6 (01:54:40):
Do we do the small one first? And then I
mean golfing with a legends? Definitely the small do.

Speaker 3 (01:54:47):
The golf first?

Speaker 7 (01:54:47):
And this is the golf one, guys. And we have
a special new sound effect for this one. I was
able to find some it better be it better be
loony tunes.

Speaker 6 (01:54:57):
I wish you I'm.

Speaker 7 (01:54:58):
Trying to find some different sound affects guys. But let's
see what it sounds like with the hip hop. Braylan,
this is your wheel? Would you like to spin it
for us?

Speaker 3 (01:55:05):
Please?

Speaker 1 (01:55:05):
Sir?

Speaker 6 (01:55:07):
All right, go, good luck everybody.

Speaker 3 (01:55:16):
Music one time in the last definitely sounds like mc
bree back in the day in front.

Speaker 6 (01:55:30):
I think it's Dante. Oh is it gonna stop in
the USA? Congratulations brother.

Speaker 3 (01:55:44):
In the last second, he is nipped at the line
talking about Dante who won five one made in the US,
this second time made the USA? This one correct? Uh?

Speaker 6 (01:55:53):
Last week?

Speaker 3 (01:55:53):
Did he win two weeks ago?

Speaker 6 (01:55:55):
Two weeks ago?
