Fan Pole Sports a true tex sports podcast for the
true tex sports fan. What's good on your host Rodney
Life for back at it under the big blue skies
that are South Texas with the Broski himself, the nation,
the man, the myth and also a legend in his
(01:13):
own mind. My good friend, my longtime friend, Arnold Threadhole Broski.
Welcome back to the program, my friend.
Speaker 2 (01:22):
Broski, thank you for having us back on the program.
Fan Polls Sports Flash Nation. Yes, it is good to
be back on the airways. For you, It's good to
breathe this South Texas air, knowing that six and a
(01:44):
half hours north there was an ars wolfing that occurred
at a certain cotton bowl in early early uptop and
it was beautiful. It is good to be a Technis
Longhorn fan. It is good to be alive and well
(02:09):
and kicking and whoa having fun, baby having fun?
Speaker 1 (02:15):
Hello, hey man, you're right.
Speaker 3 (02:18):
Huge win this past Saturday at the State Fair of Texas,
the Longhorns putting the ass whooping on the hated Sooners
twenty three to six, dominant second half versus the Oklahoma team.
(02:39):
The defense man played lights out, shutout defense, took care
of business, and then of course the offense Trey Weisner,
big afternoon arch manning, little more confident, didn't have big
passing yards, but made the right play the right time,
(03:01):
and that's all that matters. Then, of course Ryan Nibleck
closing it out with a big sad was it seventy
five yard kick return on that punt? Uh So, A
lot of great things coming out of that game for
the Longhorns as they get ready to go to Kentucky
(03:22):
this week and h that'll be an interesting game. But
we'll talk about that in a second, Brosky, your thoughts
on Arch and the way that he played Saturday this
past Saturday, and your thoughts on the wave there at
the end when he sealed it with the slide on
the sideline. Your thoughts on Arch and how he looked
(03:44):
on Saturday.
Speaker 2 (03:47):
Uh, Well, Brosky, Arch did what Arch had to do.
He got coached, he went in, he executed. You know
what he did, broke for only I think the second
time this year. He didn't turn over the football. So yes,
(04:08):
Arch did excellent. He didn't have to flashy numbers. Arts
took care of Arch, Arts took care of the pigskin,
and Arch took care of coach Sart made him look good.
So yes, Arch didn't have an excellent game. He did
what he needed to do. And I guess the biggest thing, guys,
(04:31):
what I'm trying to push on is is derro freaking
turnovers then total interception, no fumbles, nothing like that, and
a Warch to watch Arch slide after he took off
on that run for the first down and then get
up and then waved to the Texas fans as he says,
(04:54):
but we all know who he was waving at all them?
Sooner leaving because lose there, but hey, you know what,
we were winning. I'm not gonna gloat too much, but yeah,
it's lose. So yeah, But as I said, Art said
(05:16):
that he was waving at the beautiful Texas fans out there,
and I'll cover in half that that stadium, uh, while
the other half was pretty much empty seats by then.
So yeah, that's that's my outtake on that, bro Sky.
Speaker 3 (05:32):
But yeah, man, I'll tell you, Brosky, that wave was poetic.
That wave was tremendous. And whether you call him sooners
or losers or whatever, you know, just don't talk. Just
don't call him loyal because you know they they they
were out of there with about ten minutes to play
(05:54):
as Texas slammed the door shut, and uh, you know
they they got after it pretty good.
Speaker 1 (06:00):
You know.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
One of the things that you just mentioned man Arch
not turning the ball over, played good smart football. But
how big of a factor was Trey Weisner and that
running game and being able to keep Arch from having.
Speaker 1 (06:14):
To press or do too much.
Speaker 3 (06:17):
What did you think of Wisner's game and how well
he played on Saturday afternoon?
Speaker 2 (06:24):
Well, Broskie, he played so damn good. He caused another
running back to go to the portal. That's how freaking
good Trey Wisner played on Saturday. Got a lot of touches,
It ran hard, he had that step, that that jiggle,
that that quick step, and he got to field Quicken
(06:45):
in the hurry. So yeah, kudles to Trey Weisner. But
you know, kudos to that offensive lind that one. The
battle in the trenches, that's uh. I believe I believe
that the race or the TV three said or ABC
said that, Uh, this is what the last eleven winners
(07:13):
of the hat I think seven eighth straight times they
wanted rushing yards. So that tells you anything. That's how
good of a day that Trey Wisner had that uh
that he won the rushing battle and the Longhorns got
(07:33):
that w come on well.
Speaker 3 (07:35):
And you know, the thing is that Oklahoma had a
guy in the transfer portal that came from cal the
cow Bears. He had apparently a very good season last season,
and there was a lot of hope and optimism that
he was gonna have a big year there he had Oklahoma,
(07:55):
and it has not worked out at all.
Speaker 1 (07:58):
He has not looked good. He has not been.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
A as you as you can say, he has not
been a high caliber running back, and their running game
has been terrible this season. Matier, I believe, has led
them in rushing each of the games that he played.
Speaker 2 (08:20):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (08:20):
And dude, that's not good when you don't have like
you have an athlete a quarterback. I'm not saying he's
not an athlete, but he shouldn't be leading your team
in rushing.
Speaker 1 (08:32):
And you're right, dude, I mean eight.
Speaker 3 (08:34):
Out of the last eleven Texas has dominated the offensive line.
These last three out of four seasons, they've dominated in
so many ways that they've they've just totally pushed ou
further and further down the line.
Speaker 1 (08:50):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
And you know, if you remember about a decade ago,
or maybe even a little bit longer, it looked like
Oklahoma was pushing Texas further and further away from being
a good to great program. And you know, Texas went
through its struggles and it looks like Oklahoma maybe going
through the same type of thing. I don't know if
(09:11):
Venables is gonna be able to save his job. You know,
he was the feeld good story coming back to Oklahoma.
He had all that great success with Bob Stoops when
he was a defensive coordinator. But you know, when you're
getting your ass headed to you the way that he
has in three out of these four games, that's not
a good thing if you're an OU coach. And we'll see,
(09:35):
we'll see how things continue for them this season and
whether or not they can rebound here. Last thing, a
couple of things on the offensive side, as I get
ready to move to the defense. Obviously, the receivers played
pretty well. Arch hitting them in a couple of different,
you know, good spots and stuff. Looks like he's starting
(09:56):
to gel a little bit more with with DeAndre.
Speaker 1 (09:59):
Moore and with Ryan Wingo.
Speaker 3 (10:01):
Your your thoughts on the wide receivers and what their
impact could be moving forward. And this offensive line played
pretty well, But there was a report out today that
Cole Hudson, the starting center, is going to.
Speaker 1 (10:16):
Be out this week.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
What kind of impact will that have on the upcoming
game against Kentucky. But give me your thoughts first on
the wide receivers and the impact they can have, all.
Speaker 2 (10:29):
Right, Roski, Uh impact on the wide receivers, they didn't
look a lot better this past week against Oklahoma. They're
getting separation. Uh, I don't know, maybe the their their
route tree that they were that they were running. I'm
not too sure, but Stark had them in situations where
(10:53):
they were wide open, whether it was the tight end
with the the option, with the options in the middle
of the of the field, you know, where where he
had felt a little bit of pressure in the middle
and he had that out for that big I think
it was like fifteen fifteen yard game or so, or
(11:14):
in the first quarter. Man wingo more when they're catching
the ball and looked good living stones with that that
acrobatic I think he had like a toenail planted in
fair play with that out route that he had that
he got there on the sideline when when the Art
(11:36):
scrambled out, I believe it was to the right as
they were going, you know, right to left on the
on the screen. But yeah, man, they just need to
continue running. Chris Browns and I'm getting separation from these
defensive back and uh, you know, finding open zone and
(11:56):
if they're they're in in some kind of zone coverage,
you know, just just get a cushion in there. They
I think uh Moore had one uh where Art started
crumbling and and he just came off this route just
a little bit man and just settled there on the
on the left hash mark, you know, between little field
and and and the left hash mark. And he sat
(12:17):
in there and Arch you know, looked like uh like
he was Alex Bregman up there and you know, talks
to Dart to him. It was it was wonderful to
watch man. It was there's some neat something that that
Arch hadn't done, you know, a whole lot this year.
You know, hit hit the receivers as he was, you know,
running left and the receivers on the right, you know,
(12:38):
or you know he's run on the ride. He threw
all the way to the left type type stuff. You know, uh,
some of something the coaches tell you not to do.
But with his arm, strength and accuracy that that he
that is coming up, you know, he's able to make
plays like that and you know, make him look effortlessly uh.
And it's it's it's wonderful watching them and and and
(13:00):
him and his receivers getting that groove and uh Man.
As far as our captain up front, man Cole Hudson,
I've seen that that's huge. I know, the the kid
that is in there right now, he's been doing good.
But I think he was also on the uh on
the injury report, I believe if I remember seeing that correctly,
(13:25):
I had seen that earlier around lunchtime today. Uh. Yeah, man,
they need they need Cole Hudson back. Uh. I know
they're doing good, but when you get your your leader back,
the guy that's you know, the offensive line quarterback that's
selling him, you know, uh, where the pressures coming from,
(13:46):
you know where the reaches are the you know they're
there's coops and and zones and all that. So yeah, man,
it's it's it's gonna be sad that we don't have
him back, but you know we can get them back
sooner rather than later that they'd be nice.
Speaker 3 (14:04):
Yeah, And I think it's I think it's gonna be
very interesting to see how that offensive line responds, like
you say, not having your main guy there for you know,
he can point out protections, he can point out the
different coverages, you know, make sure the blockers and the
blocking scheme is where it.
Speaker 1 (14:19):
Needs to be. So it's gonna be interesting.
Speaker 3 (14:22):
I mean, you know, we consid here and joke about
Kentucky and talk about how Kentucky's not very good or whatever.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Kentucky's a very good team at home.
Speaker 3 (14:32):
And you know, I'm not saying that they should beat
Texas because they shouldn't, but they could present some different
problems for this longhorned team that you're not expecting because
again Kentucky not being on all World all SEC type
of team on a consistent basis. But you know, they're
(14:53):
still playing Division one ball. They still could have a
chance to surprise you. And Texas guy has to go
in there with the appropriate fear ready to go play
against this team.
Speaker 1 (15:06):
Some some of the reports that I saw are talking.
Speaker 3 (15:09):
About the fact that you know, because Kentucky has a
pretty good ground game, they run the ball fairly well,
saying that Kentucky might employ the same game plan that
Florida did to attack this Texas defense, uh and to
come after him and you know, try to do the
same thing Florida did. Minimize the risk of your quarterback
(15:33):
and just you know, run the ball as often and
as much as you can if you're being successful. Texas
showed in that Florida game they struggled, they couldn't make
adjustments like they needed to right away. Hopefully p K
and that staff have have heard the same things. Hopefully
they're making the adjustments and hopefully things will will improve
(15:55):
this week in Kentucky. Your thoughts on Kentucky and their
approach to playing the Longhorns.
Speaker 1 (16:03):
And do you know.
Speaker 3 (16:04):
Anything about this quarterback Zach Kyle Zada who used to
be at A and M your thoughts if you have
any on him as well?
Speaker 2 (16:15):
All right, Brokie Ntuckie wants to run the football. They've
won a lot of games here in the last couple
of years, you know, because they've art a pretty decent
running backs and their offensive line has you know, I
can't say that they're the greatest, but you know, they
took care of business. You know, they won the battle
(16:35):
that they needed to up in the trenches and they
were able to get a lot of rushing yards. So
you know, like we've said weekend week out, whoever wins
the trenches is gonna win the football game, no exception here.
If January and you know Simmons and Hill and you
(16:59):
know how uh Ethan and and all of them can
can come in and you know, win at the line
of scrimmage, especially the big guys up front. If they
can keep them uh them centers and guards. You know
that that are going You know that that are doing
the chip in the reach to get to that second
(17:20):
level of the where the backers are. If they can
keep their linebackers free and nobody on them to where
Anthony Hill and the uh, the freshmen can get out
there and create have it. Man. It's it's gonna be
good to see a running offense usus our big run
(17:47):
stuff in defense. You know. But everything's got to click
if they if they if they win the line of
scrimmage like they did against Oklahoma, uh and get penetration
and getting disruptive in the backfield and you know, put
more than one helmet on the on the carrier, I
(18:10):
think the Longhorns defense man comes up victorious. Uh, you know,
because I know that the offense is gonna take care
of business and PK's gonna have his his voice rider.
They just need to come out hunger like they did
for the Oklahoma game. If they do that, man, we're we're
in the shape. You know. I have a very high
positive attitude evolve that jelse together.
Speaker 3 (18:33):
Yeah, it could be interesting, man. I mean, they're they're
not going in playing a pushover. I know they're you know,
Kentucky's two and three and stuff. But you know again,
they're still an SEC team. Uh, playing playing on the
road in the SEC at night is problematic enough, and
I think Texas is gonna face some obstacles there that
(18:56):
nobody is expecting. Nobody's thinking because oh, it's just Kentucky. Yeah, man,
But Kentucky still can be on any given Saturday, they
can be a good team, and they can be a
better team than Longhorns are expecting to face. Texas wants
to stay in the conversation for the CFP. They need
to go out this weekend and put it to the
(19:18):
Wildcats so they can position themselves better further down the
line than this season, because you know, they've got Kentucky
this week, They've got Mississippi State next week, then the
big one Vanderbilt. That one is gonna be a very
interesting game for the Longhorns, depending on what Vandy looks
(19:39):
like coming in from their schedule. They have a big
game this week against LSU. It's at home. It could
be one of the bigger games for the Commodores, So
we'll see. But Texas has to take care of business, Broski.
Texas has to get after it and make sure that
they're doing what they need to do to get out of.
Speaker 1 (20:00):
There with the win.
Speaker 3 (20:02):
This Texas defense put John Matteer and that Oklahoma offense
in a box and they kicked that son of a
bitch out of the stadium. What are your thoughts on
Colin Simmons and how well he's playing and can this
defense make it to another level? Is there another level
(20:25):
that this defense can get you as they continue to
get healthy. Mohammed had a huge game this past Saturday,
won the SEC Defensive Player of the Week. Your thoughts
on the defense, Colin Simmons, Manny Muhammad?
Speaker 1 (20:40):
What do you got? Brosky?
Speaker 2 (20:44):
All Right, that's why I say Mohammed man played lights out.
I think they said his h his grading system was
at eighty nine. I think it was the highest of
any defensive back over the weekend. And that's what one
hundred thirty two schools I believe Broski. Yeah, I'm talking
(21:05):
defensive back from one hundred and thirty two schools times
four or five per school guys, that's a lot of
freaking people. And the two greated eighty nine. But ultimately
we got him, you know, Defensive Players of the of
the week. With kudos to him. Two. I m T's
I think he had a dozen tackles or so ten
(21:27):
ten to twelve tackles. Man O Muhammad. Man, he was
playing lights out. He played really good this weekend. Colline Simmons,
I think what was it Broski one of the first
three players he had a fact. One of the first
three players of the game. He had a fac So. Man,
he came out fired up. He was ready to go.
(21:48):
That's what we expect from him. That's what needs to
be consistent. If that contings to happen, the consistency will
stay there and the high for this kid will be
lived up because of the year that he had last
year hadn't in my eyes, he hadn't quite lipped up
to it. He's had kind of like that that we've
(22:09):
talked about that Michael Parsons when it's you know, November
December and he disappears. That's the way he started off. Disappeared, disappeared,
didn't have a lot of disruption, and then bam. He
has come up strong the last few games. Man, it
is great to watch his kid and his motor back
get like they jump started it. Man, with with freaking
uh starting fluid or something. Man, it's it's it's been
(22:33):
wild to watch his kid play. Colin Simmons. His motor's crazy.
He's athletic, He's a freak of nature out there. So yeah, man,
he's he's done good. This weekend, I saw Anthony's hill.
Uh man, he was flying around, he was having fun.
He he h had a lot of tackles had you know,
he played a really good, solid game. You know, he
(22:54):
stuff you know where where he needed to stuff. He played,
you know, back he had his name down a lot
more than he's had previous games. So he is essentially
that he is their leader, and he's been doing good
all year. What they're starting to call his name a
little bit more. He's doing a little more flashy stuff
(23:15):
versus you know, some of that grunt stuff. So it's
it's it's gonna be nice watching him, you know, hit
that stride mid season to to finish out the season strong.
It's it's wonderful watching this defense.
Speaker 3 (23:29):
They need to come out this week and play the
exact same way they did against Oklahoma and shut no doubt,
shut Kentucky down early and make them become one dimensional
and then maybe you have a chance to create some
turnovers and stuff like that. They need to play pissed
(23:50):
off like they did this past Saturday. They need to
be angry, they need to be upset. They need to
be getting after the quarterback. They need to knock those
backs around. They need to shut down the passing game.
I mean whatever it takes to make sure that they're
playing at a high level, with a lot of speed,
with a lot of spunk, with a lot of banging
(24:12):
with then pads clang, clashing, like all of that needs
to happen again. And you're right, Colin Simmons is starting
to come into his own. He's starting to play better.
He's starting to put it together. I don't know what
happened earlier this season, but just like everything else, man,
football is a what have you done for me lately?
(24:32):
And let me tell you that guy put on a
show this past Saturday. I hope he can continue it
because if he does, then that means that Longhorns are
playing at a high level. That means the Longhorns are
in every game, and hopefully that means the Longhorns are
winning the games ahead of.
Speaker 1 (24:50):
Them on their schedule.
Speaker 3 (24:51):
On that Saturday afternoon, Sark, I think overall, Sark and
the offense had a good game. I think the defense
pk Akina, I think those guys put a great game
plan together. Your thoughts on the coaching and how both
of those sides of the ball adjusted coming off that
(25:14):
heartbreaking loss at Florida and coming in the Cotton Bowl
and kicking the ship out of Oklahoma.
Speaker 2 (25:22):
I don't know what car coach start told his coaching
staff after that Florida game, but I know he lit
a fire in somebody's ass. I don't know who's ass,
but somebody's ass or maybe all their asses. Fuck, I
don't know, and I really don't give a shit. Because
(25:44):
the Pittbort performance that they had at Florida, they completely
swapped it for Oklahoma. Uh PK and his generals had
that football team or that that squad, their defensive score
braided to play some freaking football. They were hitting hard,
(26:06):
they didn't miss many tackles, and they all had a
net for the uh A nose for the football man.
They found it and they you know, it wasn't just
one guy. They gang tackle and and talking about all that.
Broski that you know, Muhammad had a great game, but Littleton,
(26:30):
our freshman, our nickel pack. Broski keyballed out this weekend.
I mean he's been doing it all year, but he
had another pick and he balled out this weekend. Man,
So the future is bright with that kid to be
on that secondary. You know, once Muhammad uh moves on
(26:52):
and some of these other guys move on, you know. Uh,
Kobe Black had had a great game. I had watched,
you know, watch the whole game. So watching him play
and and some of these other guys that that we watched,
you know, a few years ago, you know, while they
were recruiting them and whatnot and watching film on them,
it's it's meat to see them play in it. And uh,
(27:16):
you know, thank you coaches for for continuing to coach
these guys and keep them hungry and and humble, you know,
to to play their best and and not be uh
show voting or anything like that. You know, let's get
up there, let's let's let's woop somebody. Let's get back
you know here, offense, it's your turn. You know, just
(27:39):
keep them humble, keep them hungry, and keep them playing.
You know, like you know, somebody hurt somebody, you know.
Speaker 1 (27:48):
Yeah, you know you touched on it a little bit
at the beginning. Bro Ski. Uh.
Speaker 3 (27:54):
Looks like Jared Gibson has entered the transfer, leaving UT
one of the running backs. You know, he had some
big moments his freshman year, had a big touchdown in Michigan,
you know, probably one of the highlights of his career,
not only in college but probably football. To know that
he got in the end zone at the Big House,
(28:16):
that's got to be something big for him. And then
he had a few other games along the way man
where he stepped in and had some good moments, but
just didn't seem to be able to put it together
this year.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
Also had some fumbling issues earlier.
Speaker 3 (28:30):
This season kind of fell into the doghouse and I
don't think he ever got out. What do you think
the impact of him leaving, especially right now with Baxter
being out, the impact of him leaving and him not
being in that room anymore.
Speaker 2 (28:50):
I don't know, Brookie. It's like they've proven this year
man with bas White, crow man, next man up. You knows,
Clark stepped up the freshman I am't or Simmons uh,
and he stepped up. They just I thought breaking news
(29:11):
earlier that Michael Terry, you know, the five star athlete
out of San Antonio. He's in the running back room. Now.
You know that that's another kid that's very dynamic. He
was explosive in high school. You know. So it's you know,
I mean years, it hurts because I mean you want
your cow bells in there, no doubt about it. You
(29:32):
want that that cowbell you know, because he reminds me,
you know of like a mixture of like Cedric and
Vijon uh till you know where he's big, strong, and
he'll run you over. But man, he has that little
wiggle and he has that goal. You know, he's very
interesting to watch. You know, he's he's not a big
(29:55):
bruiser like like Earl and Ricky were, but and you
know he's he's a big body person and and you
know he can he can he can lower that shoulder.
He run your ass over or you know, if you
let him get to that sideline, he's gone. He has
a lot of speed. Uh So, yeah, I mean it's
it's it does hurt with him not being in the lineup.
But next man up, I mean Trey wiser Man thousand
(30:18):
yard Russier from last year. You know he's still playing.
You know, Chris and Clark got four stars. Running back,
you know, uh them and he also another four star.
You know, it's you know, next man up, Michael Terry,
five star, five star athlete, you know in the backfield.
(30:39):
So you know they're they're they're doing really good. I
mean they next man up. Just get it, you know,
take care of the ball, don't fumble, uh because they'll
get you sad and you know, and you may not,
you know, get out of it that. You know. I
hate to see Jared get to leave, but you know,
(30:59):
it is what it is. And I'll bet of luck
to him somewhere else. Hopefully it's not then STC.
Speaker 1 (31:05):
Yeah it'll be and then uh go ahead, go ahead.
Speaker 2 (31:13):
No, uh you were asking you asked me a little earlier,
bro skid about oh uh pizza Hud Calzoni himself. He
he has been in the elite or he's been in college
for a while. It looked like he was three years
(31:34):
at A and M, a year at Auburn, a year
at ocarnent Ward and he has this year right now
and uh big kid six for thirty. He's from Georgia
and he was supposed to be that the next coming
(31:58):
at A and M. When he got there, because I
remember watching this kid when he debuted back in twenty nineteen.
I remember watching that first day Name game. It was
that night. It was only one worth watching that night.
Man and he came out and he struggled, and he
got replaced by a kid named Haines King that's also
(32:22):
no longer at Texas A and m keith leading that
impressive offense from Georgia Tech.
Speaker 1 (32:32):
Yeah it or not?
Speaker 2 (32:34):
Yeah, So so mitcher Kan's doing his thing out there
in g Tech. So kudos to him. So that caused
him to, you know, to I mean, he did do good.
I'm not saying that he didn't because you know, he
won the debut O'Brien award Player of the Week and
(32:55):
the Maxwell were award Player of the Week as a
on an upset victory against Alabama. So he finished the
season that season with twenty one hundred yards. So I
mean he's I mean, he's not nobody to not to
think about it. I mean, he did have at in
(33:17):
Carnell Board last year thirty seven hundred yards, thirty five
touchdowns and only nine interceptions in a quarterback rating of
one hundred and forty four. And before that he also
had a twenty five hundred yard season one fifty nine
on his QBR. So I mean he's done good. I
(33:37):
mean he's done good. He's not he's not terrific. You
know he has he's only fast for two hundred thirty
four yards this year. He's won and one, so you know,
we'll see how it goes. See, he's a big quarterback.
Like I said, he'd be playing in kinda worked for
(33:58):
a little bit Auburn and m I think he was
a four star, four star coming out of out of
high school out of over there in lan Near High
School in sugar Let or Sugar Oak, Georgia. So yeah,
I mean he can run. I can't say that he
(34:18):
has like wheels, but you know he's more of a
pocket passer, so they can disrupt the pocket, you know,
get him rattled up and then wishould do good. But yeah, yeah,
I feel a little bit earlier, thank you Coach Banks.
Man talked about Coach Banks a whole lot. Coach Banks,
(34:39):
thank you for finally finally getting something going with that
special teams. They the Longhorns needed a spark, and Ryan
Niblett and his hunt return team gave the Longhorns that sparked.
I think it was what Tim, Yeah, it was a
(35:04):
long pun return that that's all I gotta say. It
was seventy something yards. It was a long one, hit
that sideline and he didn't have to chew nothing too
much and he hit fifth gear and Eland domb folks yep.
But thank you coach Banks for that. Uh that's part
then ultimately coffin for them Oklahoma Losers, I mean Sooners.
Speaker 3 (35:33):
So yeah, Brosky, Yeah, man, I mean again, dude, I
think overall it was a good team win. I think
that's gonna help build more confidence in them. They're gonna
jel a little bit more. They need this game, Broski.
They've got to play with their appropriate fear. They've got
to get after it. They got to make sure that
they're executing all three phases like they did this past weekend.
(35:55):
Don't don't try to do more than you need to,
but do enough to help your team win. If they
do that, I think they're gonna come out of there. Okay,
you got a prediction for this game, Broski, what are
your thoughts? You know, again, on paper, Texas should dominate
this game, but they don't play games on paper. They
play games on the field. Your prediction. You got a
(36:16):
prediction for this weekend, you gotta score.
Speaker 2 (36:20):
I always have a prediction, and it's always gonna be
Texas Long Horns win. On this from Rosky, I don't know,
I see like a like a thirty to seventeen game,
kind of like twenty eight seventeen, six fourteen. And also
(36:40):
where's in that area? I'd it's nice to let them,
you know, get get thirty five, But I don't see
it quite getting the thirty five. You know, I see
you know, some touchdowns and field goals, you know, I
mean unless you know, are arn't you know, get comfortable,
(37:03):
you know, And and I guess the biggest thing for
the roads of victories for the Longhorns, Rosy you know,
with something and all that, and it's it should be realistically, uh,
because I got another team that has this problem kipping
the penalty. He's off the board, you know, no penalties, man,
(37:26):
come on, and okay, you know, don't don't keep yourself
in the foot with a holding or a false start
or ineligible and ineligible receiver downfield, you know, personal foul
hands to the phase. You know, uh, everybody offside but
(37:47):
the center, I mean, you know, skeet those penalties to
a minimum. Longhorns down a Cowboys. You know, you win
freaking games, you know that. And I mean, yes, the
long only lost two games this year, but I don't
have stated that would have minimized some of the penalties
(38:07):
that they had in the first half. Could have been
a little bit different. At Florida, it did fall a
few drives. I didn't evenna say it it didn't because
it did. It saw some drives the kind of looked
like that this weekend, but you know, they ended up
getting first down and one not. So, you know, keep
the penalty to minimum, Lawhorns thirty to seventeen and we'll
(38:31):
get ready for next week. Man.
Speaker 3 (38:33):
Yeah, man, I kind of agree with you. I'm in
that thirty thirty one, you know score range. I think,
you know, giving up between fourteen and seventeen points sounds
about right.
Speaker 1 (38:45):
So it should be a good game for a little while.
Speaker 3 (38:49):
But you know, hopefully the Texas talent, the Texas depth
will come into play and cause Kentucky to tap out
and you know, not do as much as in they
think they can. And you're right, dude, they have to minimize,
especially on the road, have to minimize the penalties the
times that they start behind the sticks. You know, they've
(39:12):
got to be successful on first down, you know, whether
that's a pop pass, whether it's a screen, whether it's
a flare, whether it's a you know, a draw, whatever.
They need to stay in front of the sticks to
give Arch a chance to get comfortable and do some
big things.
Speaker 2 (39:31):
Man.
Speaker 1 (39:31):
So I'm with you, Broski.
Speaker 3 (39:33):
Give me Texas thirty one Kentucky seventeen, and you know,
then they can get the hell out of Kentucky.
Speaker 1 (39:40):
With a win. Hey, before I let you.
Speaker 3 (39:42):
Go, and he updates on the other Gators in your
life and how Daniel and his boys are doing.
Speaker 1 (39:50):
How are things down there for the nephew and his team.
Speaker 2 (39:56):
Man, they are doing good. Just coming Tuesday is their
last football game of the season, So I'll be at
the swamp Gator chomping it up. Uh. They got a
fight week this week because they're an intercession, so there's
(40:16):
none of there's no sports activities this week. They're gonna
hit it hard on Monday. They're gonna play on Tuesday,
and then you know, uh see if see how it goes.
You know, get ready for the offseason. Got a golf
tournament coming up here in a couple of weeks, and
(40:38):
getting ready for that other sport. Uh, that's right after football.
They're Broski. You may know what that sport is.
Speaker 1 (40:46):
Yeah, it's gonna be getting some buckets. So when I.
Speaker 3 (40:49):
Come down, when I come down, when I come down
in a few weeks, you know, I'll make sure to
make some time to give them some pointers. Check out,
check it out. See excuse me what that shoot for him?
Looks like? Make some adjustments and and then you let
him do his thing. Maybe he can be the the
next Larry Bird with that light skin and that blonde hair.
Speaker 1 (41:09):
You know what I mean. So well, good, good man.
I'm glad. I'm glad.
Speaker 2 (41:16):
We'll have to we'll have to inject them with with
some kind of growth, uh yeah, type of of of
juice or something. Hey, you know that six six six
five when I ultimately I think he's gonna between six
foot and six Yeah.
Speaker 3 (41:34):
Hey, hey, bro, I know I know I was gonna say, Brosky,
I know, I know you got you got some connections
with them good Ondettas and you know them them them crazy,
them crazy women down there around around the Alice, Texas area.
Maybe a little further south, closer to the border. You know,
(41:56):
maybe you can see if one of them has got
some sort of little special hill that he can take
to grow a little bit taller or whatever it takes.
Speaker 2 (42:03):
Man.
Speaker 1 (42:04):
So yeah, it'll be good. It'll be good stuff. Dude.
I'm glad.
Speaker 3 (42:07):
I'm glad he's had a good year. I'm glad he's
enjoyed football, and we'll see where that thing goes. And again,
like you said, man, golf seems like another sport that
he's taken to that he looks like he's enjoying. I mean, hey,
if you need a happy Gilmore type of crowd, you know,
at one of his golf tournaments, you let me know.
I'll bring the noisemakers in the signs. It's not a problem.
(42:29):
It is not a problem. So but yeah, man, that's awesome.
I'm glad, I'm glad he's doing well. I'm glad, I'm
glad that's happening and stuff. So hey, Broski, that's all
I got. You got anything else before we wrap this up?
Speaker 2 (42:43):
No, man, just you know, tune in Saturday afternoon. It
said sixth Eastern. That's what five o'clock Center time. It's
gonna be a good football game. You know. Let's you're
on our Techs Longhorns hopefully get another victory. And luckily
(43:03):
for this is an evening game and I'll be out
of work and I won't have to watch it in
Connect forty seven. Uh but but yeah, Brosie, that's about it, man,
It's it's it's been fun talking to you. Fam Poles
Sports has been good talking to you. I know a
lot of times I say Fam Poles Nation because man,
(43:24):
we're like a cult out there. You know, we're followers.
We like sports, whether it's you know, football, baseball, basketball,
track and field. You know, the Olympics are coming up soon,
so we've got that going Winter Olympics. You know they
you know they they the nationals just happened, you know,
(43:47):
a couple of weeks ago. Uh so yeah, man, sports
world is it's happening. It's happened. You know. It's that
time of year. We're we're in October. You know, I
don't got no teams in it now, but you know,
long the Dodgers don't win it, you know, I'm good,
but on that man, it's it's it's been fun, thank y'all.
(44:10):
We'll do this again next week. We'll have you know,
on the other team in front of us. It'll be fun.
It'll probably be on Thursday, if not Friday. So y'all
stay tune, man. This is what we gotta says. It's fun.
Speaker 3 (44:22):
It's you know, it's getting to the heart of the
football season, broskey. So yeah, those conversations are gonna get
a little more intense, a little more height, so to speak,
as as we get into that meat of the schedule.
You know, I can't believe we're already in week six,
you know, and and here we go getting ready for
the next big game. Uh, you know, week seven coming
(44:44):
up for the Longhorns and stuff.
Speaker 1 (44:46):
So you know, I can't wait for Saturday. You're right,
it's an evening game.
Speaker 3 (44:51):
You don't have to be out there in the context sweating, uh,
you know, getting swamp ass unnecessarily, except for when you're
at the swamp watching Daniel play. So you know it'll
be good. We'll get together next week. You tell me
when I hit the record button and we'll be off
and running. Shout out to the family, Brosky. Tell the
(45:12):
Trey to behave himself. Tell Gabby, I said hello, and shout.
Speaker 1 (45:16):
Out to the parents.
Speaker 3 (45:17):
So Fan Poll Sports a true tech sports podcast for
the true tech sports fan.
Speaker 1 (45:22):
