an impressive win. I know what the scoreboard says, I
know how they looked. That was impressive. But let's not
kid ourselves. They were playing the absolute worst team in

the NFL. And that's saying a lot when you consider
some of the other teams in the NFL. I'm talking
about you, Arizona. Okay, when you talk about bad football teams,
you know the Giants. To say that the Jets are

this bad wow wow, Now, can't take away from the
fact that they are still an NFL franchise. Cannot take
away from the fact that you can only play and
beat whoever's on your schedule. So can't take that away
from the Cowboys. But I'm not gonna sit here and
sugarcoate it and be like, oh, it's y rainbows and

cupcakes and everything's great, the Cowboys are fixed. Nope, that
ain't the case. That is not the case. So let's
get started with your thoughts first on what you saw
Sunday and what are your feelings after that win in
the Meadowlands or.

major teams, you beat the Boise States, you beat the
Oklahoma State Agriculture whatever the hell, or Purview A and
M whatever. You know, if you're a big, big team
like a Texas or an A and M or Michigan

or ay and as we all know about those teams,
you know, they're obviously the upper echelon on the college
I guess Spear and what they do when they play
those kind of smaller teams, they're kind of expected to win. So,
I mean, I don't see this game like that. I mean,
if you want to say that you saw it like that,
that's fine. But I saw a lot of good things

out of this game. The running game, for one, the
passing of Dak, him moving the ball down the field,
him finding different receivers, him just I'm manding the game
probably better than I've seen in a really long time.
I think his rookie year was probably his best year.

And I mean, obviously you're not going to play as
good as you did in the past, but I think
he's really dialed in. He's figuring out his weapons, he's
figuring out the defenses, he's moving people around, he's checking
into the right place, he's getting first downs. I do

have a caveat with that, it's I wish they would
stick to the run a little more. Yeah, that's twenty
two points. I think that was kind of more of
the game was already kind of in hand, and you know,
you kind of just started start putting your kind of
prevent defense out there to run down the clock. And
that's just my opinion, and that's what I believe when

I saw it. Luckily for you, man, you actually got
to watch the whole game, because man, you've had a
string of bad luck of what, lightning storms and god
knows what else. But what was the focus, man, was
it was The focus was to stop the running game.
The focus was to stop the Jets from getting that going.

And at first it was a little tough, but once
that happened, you know, the kind of domino effect that
started happening. I sent you some INQO here and I
didn't want to mention something a little bit about the
defense that kind of kind of you know, is strange
to me. They are actually getting some sacks, man, they
got some sacks.

They're they're starting to accumulate and move their weight up
in the rankings. It's funny because when when a team
uh commits to something and it's not just about sacks, man,
you've got to stop the run first to lead up
to that.

Impressed with with the movement of the guys on the
d line. Man, the linebackers though, Man, they're killing me. Bro,
they are killing me. And I mean I was really impressed.

was over after they scored. Once they got to thirty,

good win. It's a solid win because you know, they
haven't lost in the last two games, and that's always

winning streak or your unbeaten streak is better than a
losing streak. So the fact that you know they they

they got to two wins, they've got the two losses,
they've got the one tie. I mean, that's a good thing.
So it's still, it still leaves them relevant. It still
puts them in a spot to where they have a
chance to position themselves nicely in their division, possibly in

the NFC overall.

It's five games, okay, and they didn't play they didn't
play a very good team on Sunday.

And the only reason the defense looked as good as
it does is because the Jets absolutely suck.

I don't even know how this guy has a job,
let alone starting quarterback of an NFL franchise because he
can't throw worth a shit. You know, they put him

just wait till he gets some weapons around him. Just wait,
you'll see what he can do. He's got some decent receivers,
he's got a hell of a running back, and he

still isn't doing anything special. He holds onto the ball
too long, he doesn't know how to read defenses, he
doesn't know how to make decisions. And this guy's been
in the league now for four years. So whereas the
defense look better, and yes they're getting sacks, you know, okay,
and the same thing should happen Sunday because Carolina is

not very good. And if they don't go out in
Carolina and dominate them like they did the Jets, then
that says more about the Cowboys than it says about
the Carolina Panthers.

to take away from the win. But this is this
isn't a high caliber team yet. The offense is high caliber,
there's no doubt about it. Dak has complete command of
this offense. But the team as a whole, no, no.

It is not anywhere close to where it needs to
be to be considered one of the better teams in
the NFL. Now, the other thing I'm gonna say real quick,
and i'll turn it over back to you, is people
need to stop looking at the stats and talking about rankings.

On the field, okay, Because you could have four or
five good defensive plays and then give up an eighty
yard bomb and people are gonna talk more about the
eighty yard bomb instead of the five defensive plays you've
made before that, and those those four or five defensive
plays may have turned into a negative number, while all

it takes is for one good offensive play and those
numbers are gone. And it's just the same thing with
the offense. If the offense struggles and has a three
and out and then the next drive has a big
play and scores a touchdown, nobody's talking about that three
and out. So the stats, the rankings, all of that
stuff doesn't mean anything right now. What it means is

the play on the field has got to continue to improve.
And you just said it. These linebackers, I don't know.
I don't know what to say about them. I've said
it since Game one. I've been saying it every week.
These linebackers are awful. I don't know where we picked
them up at. I don't know what we did to
deserve these guys. But they need to go back to
wherever in the hill they found them and leave them

there and figure out what they're gonna do about bringing
in some better linebackers.

and they've got four and the Cowboys have won, but
they're twenty seven. So the discrepancy there is kind of weird.
And I know that it's the season's just starting, but
we're kind of at that point, man, we're almost at

linebacker play got a little bit better.

back and you have them in tough situations, so you
know that they're blitzing or you know that they're coming,

was kind of predictable. But you want to do it
when it's unpredictable, right, You want to do it when
it's against a stronger opponent. You know they did They

didn't really do it against Green Bay, you know, because
they gave it a ton of points. But if they'd
had a stop here or there, or you know, just
a stop for a first down, you know, we're talking
about a totally different record right now. But I will
say this.

I mean, I'm gonna stick with the offense. Now, go
back to the offense.

Jamontae Williams, man if he has been like a really awesome,
pleasant surprise as to just what he's doing, his impact
on the team, his running ability, is his rushing, but
all that, I think it's just predicated man on the
offensive line too.

Did you see this guy come in doing what he's doing? Now?

I mean yes and no.

I mean he's never he's never been even the opportunity
to be an every down back the bell cow, you
know what I mean. Like he had moments, he had
flashes when he was with other teams, but it was
never consistent, Like he was never the full time starter
in some of these other places, and when he was,
they didn't really run the ball as well. They maybe

maybe the scheme wasn't good and the offensive line wasn't good,
their quarterback play wasn't good. So, I mean, there's a
variety of factors as to why he showed flashes, but
he was never able to be consistent with it. Right here,
he's starting to he's starting to build that consistency. He's
starting to get more comfortable with this offense, you know,

and to to shot he's credit, you know, he's he's
made this pretty simple for the running backs, you know
what I mean, there's there's no there's no craziness about
what the running back has to read and how their
running back has to react this the way or that way.
It's pretty much hand off the ball and hit the pot,

you know, one cut and go. And so when you
simplify it like that.

It makes it kind of eases these guys' minds a
little bit because they're not having to overthink about, oh,
I got to look for this, and I've got to
do that and this that and the other.

If you get two yards, fine, if you get ten yards, fine,
we're still going to give you the ball. And the
one thing that I like about him is the fact
that he does appear to be getting stronger as the
games go on.

Before halftime, because you know, he broke a couple of tackles.
That wasn't like he was he went untouched. He broke
a couple of tackles on that run. You know, and
when and you know this, when you can begin to
do that and dominate a team and just pretty much
do what you want to do when you want to
do it, and you break their spirit that way, I mean,

that's tough for them to come out of that locker
room in the second half and go full out and
and try to give you a fight. Like you said,
those scores that the Jets got late, the game was
already decided that the game was over, you know what
I mean, Those those scores had no significance on that game.
But part of that was why because the Cowboys ran

it down their throats and put it to them. And
I give Javonte a lot of credit. Five rushing touchdowns
already this year. That's the most by a Cowboys running
back in the last four seasons already. So that should
tell you something about how much this running game struggled
the last few seasons. And what did I tell you

the other day, man, Dak's success is predicated on a
solid running game. And you see it. You see the
confidence that Dak is playing with.

You know, just relaxation that he's playing with. There's nothing
about Dak's game right now now that looks overwhelmed. Everything
seems to be coming at a flow. Everything seems to
be hitting correctly. And I think if he continues to
play at this level and continues to do things, they're
going to continue to win ball games. Can the defense

do enough to help them with that, we'll see. But offensively, man,
it's it's hard to say anything negative about this Cowboys
offense because they have been clicking on all cylinders since
the beginning of the season. You know, I still say,
if there's no delay, they probably beat the Eagles. You
know what happened in Chicago, you know whatever, it was

a bad game, whatever, And then of course the game
against Green Bay that showed they could put points on
the on the board. That shows that they could be unstoppable.
And then look what they did this past weekend. So
the kudos to the offense, kudos to Shati. Dak has
looked tremendous. And you know, I even hit I even

hit the that's my quarterback the other day on Facebook
and I haven't done that in a while.

because I mean he literally ran over one of his

It was like painful to watch because he just say, hey,

if the defense can can pick up the slack, just

of it, or on the playing defense. When there when
when the offense is opposing offense is trying to get
down the field with the pass, they just have to
get that more squared away and cleaned up.

Well, I think I know they switched the scheme a
little bit this past week, so they went more to
man to man on the back end than they did
the previous four weeks. So that that helped a little bit.
And you know, Diggs is still a liability. Like let's
let's not pretend that this guy is as good as

man it helps him a little bit more because he
is willing to take a risk, he is willing to
make a play. He's not gonna tackle anybody, He's not

wants to be put out there on an island with
somebody and he wants to compete.

quarterbacks and receivers, we'll see if that's if that's a
good thing for you to be able to play in
that type of defense. So I think them doing that
is helping. I think a pass rush is gonna help.

sacks on Sunday. You know, this Houston guy, I don't

know where he was. I don't know why Detroit let
him go, But he's played well. I saw a stat
he has three and a half sacks on the year.
Micah Parsons has two and a half. So I'm not
I mean, I'm not saying that he's Micah. But if
you're getting equal to, or in some cases a little

bit better production out of a guy that you're paying
for one million dollars and the guy that you let
go or trade it away is making forty million and
he's not doing as well as this guy is, I
don't know. Maybe that that says something, but uh, there

is the potential there for the Cowboys defense to get better. Yes,
it's just it's not very good right now. It's it's
it's one of those things that you know, you kind
of hold your breath as a Cowboys fan when they
get out on the field because you're like, oh man, please,

position in their division and ultimately in the NFC. Now
you said it, some of these other guys that are
on the MVP level, which to me, to me, honestly,
there's only one guy that's playing as good. I don't
think he's playing better, but I do think he's playing
as good as Dak and that's the quarterback of Tampa.

some of the other teams in the NFL. I'm talking

fact that they are still an NFL franchise. Cannot take
away from the fact that you can only play and
beat whoever's on your schedule. So can't take that away
from the Cowboys. But I'm not gonna sit here and

cupcakes and everything's great, the Cowboys are fixed. Nope, that
ain't the case. That is not the case. So let's
get started with your thoughts first on what you saw
Sunday and what are your feelings after that win in

like a Texas or an A and M or Michigan

or ay and as we all know about those teams,
you know, they're obviously the upper echelon on the college
I guess Spear and what they do when they play
those kind of smaller teams, they're kind of expected to win. So,
I mean, I don't see this game like that. I mean,
if you want to say that you saw it like that,
that's fine. But I saw a lot of good things

out of this game. The running game, for one, the
passing of Dak, him moving the ball down the field,
him finding different receivers, him just I'm manding the game
probably better than I've seen in a really long time.
I think his rookie year was probably his best year.

And I mean, obviously you're not going to play as
good as you did in the past, but I think
he's really dialed in. He's figuring out his weapons, he's
figuring out the defenses, he's moving people around, he's checking
into the right place, he's getting first downs. I do
(05:30):
have a caveat with that, it's I wish they would
stick to the run a little more. Yeah, that's twenty
two points. I think that was kind of more of
the game was already kind of in hand, and you know,
you kind of just started start putting your kind of
prevent defense out there to run down the clock. And
that's just my opinion, and that's what I believe when

I saw it. Luckily for you, man, you actually got
to watch the whole game, because man, you've had a
string of bad luck of what, lightning storms and god
knows what else. But what was the focus, man, was
it was The focus was to stop the running game.
The focus was to stop the Jets from getting that going.

And at first it was a little tough, but once
that happened, you know, the kind of domino effect that
started happening. I sent you some INQO here and I
didn't want to mention something a little bit about the
defense that kind of kind of you know, is strange
to me. They are actually getting some sacks, man, they
got some sacks.

They're they're starting to accumulate and move their weight up
in the rankings. It's funny because when when a team
uh commits to something and it's not just about sacks, man,
you've got to stop the run first to lead up
to that.

Impressed with with the movement of the guys on the
d line. Man, the linebackers though, Man, they're killing me. Bro,

they got to two wins, they've got the two losses,
they've got the one tie. I mean, that's a good thing.
So it's still, it still leaves them relevant. It still
puts them in a spot to where they have a
chance to position themselves nicely in their division, possibly in

the NFC overall.

It's five games, okay, and they didn't play they didn't
play a very good team on Sunday.

I don't even know how this guy has a job,
let alone starting quarterback of an NFL franchise because he
can't throw worth a shit. You know, they put him

just wait till he gets some weapons around him. Just wait,
you'll see what he can do. He's got some decent receivers,
he's got a hell of a running back, and he

still isn't doing anything special. He holds onto the ball
too long, he doesn't know how to read defenses, he
doesn't know how to make decisions. And this guy's been
in the league now for four years. So whereas the
defense look better, and yes they're getting sacks, you know, okay,
and the same thing should happen Sunday because Carolina is

not very good. And if they don't go out in
Carolina and dominate them like they did the Jets, then
that says more about the Cowboys than it says about
the Carolina Panthers.

to take away from the win. But this is this
isn't a high caliber team yet. The offense is high caliber,
there's no doubt about it. Dak has complete command of

It is not anywhere close to where it needs to
be to be considered one of the better teams in
the NFL. Now, the other thing I'm gonna say real quick,

need to stop looking at the stats and talking about rankings.

None of that shit matters. What matters is what happens.

On the field, okay, Because you could have four or
five good defensive plays and then give up an eighty
yard bomb and people are gonna talk more about the
eighty yard bomb instead of the five defensive plays you've
made before that, and those those four or five defensive
plays may have turned into a negative number, while all

it takes is for one good offensive play and those
numbers are gone. And it's just the same thing with
the offense. If the offense struggles and has a three
and out and then the next drive has a big
play and scores a touchdown, nobody's talking about that three
and out. So the stats, the rankings, all of that
stuff doesn't mean anything right now. What it means is

the play on the field has got to continue to improve.
And you just said it. These linebackers, I don't know.
I don't know what to say about them. I've said
it since Game one. I've been saying it every week.
These linebackers are awful. I don't know where we picked
them up at. I don't know what we did to
deserve these guys. But they need to go back to
wherever in the hill they found them and leave them

there and figure out what they're gonna do about bringing
in some better linebackers.

was kind of predictable. But you want to do it
when it's unpredictable, right, You want to do it when
it's against a stronger opponent. You know they did They

didn't really do it against Green Bay, you know, because
they gave it a ton of points. But if they'd
had a stop here or there, or you know, just
a stop for a first down, you know, we're talking
about a totally different record right now. But I will
say this.

I mean, I'm gonna stick with the offense. Now, go
back to the offense.

Jamontae Williams, man if he has been like a really awesome,
pleasant surprise as to just what he's doing, his impact
on the team, his running ability, is his rushing, but
all that, I think it's just predicated man on the
offensive line too.

But man, did you see this coming?

Did you see this guy come in doing what he's doing? Now?
Speaker 1 (13:54):
I mean yes and no.

I mean he's never he's never been even the opportunity
to be an every down back the bell cow, you
know what I mean. Like he had moments, he had
flashes when he was with other teams, but it was
never consistent, Like he was never the full time starter
in some of these other places, and when he was,
they didn't really run the ball as well. They maybe

maybe the scheme wasn't good and the offensive line wasn't good,
their quarterback play wasn't good. So, I mean, there's a
variety of factors as to why he showed flashes, but
he was never able to be consistent with it. Right here,
he's starting to he's starting to build that consistency. He's
starting to get more comfortable with this offense, you know,

and to to shot he's credit, you know, he's he's
made this pretty simple for the running backs, you know
what I mean, there's there's no there's no craziness about
what the running back has to read and how their
running back has to react this the way or that way.
It's pretty much hand off the ball and hit the pot,

you know, one cut and go. And so when you
simplify it like that.

It makes it kind of eases these guys' minds a
little bit because they're not having to overthink about, oh,
I got to look for this, and I've got to
do that and this that and the other.

You know what, you're the starter. We're going to give
you the ball.

If you get two yards, fine, if you get ten yards, fine,
we're still going to give you the ball. And the
one thing that I like about him is the fact
that he does appear to be getting stronger as the
games go on.

That's why he had that run there.

Before halftime, because you know, he broke a couple of tackles.
That wasn't like he was he went untouched. He broke
a couple of tackles on that run. You know, and
when and you know this, when you can begin to
do that and dominate a team and just pretty much
do what you want to do when you want to
do it, and you break their spirit that way, I mean,

that's tough for them to come out of that locker
room in the second half and go full out and
and try to give you a fight. Like you said,
those scores that the Jets got late, the game was
already decided that the game was over, you know what
I mean, Those those scores had no significance on that game.
But part of that was why because the Cowboys ran

it down their throats and put it to them. And
I give Javonte a lot of credit. Five rushing touchdowns
already this year. That's the most by a Cowboys running
back in the last four seasons already. So that should
tell you something about how much this running game struggled
the last few seasons. And what did I tell you

the other day, man, Dak's success is predicated on a
solid running game. And you see it. You see the
confidence that Dak is playing with.

You know, just relaxation that he's playing with. There's nothing
about Dak's game right now now that looks overwhelmed. Everything
seems to be coming at a flow. Everything seems to
be hitting correctly. And I think if he continues to
play at this level and continues to do things, they're
going to continue to win ball games. Can the defense

do enough to help them with that, we'll see. But offensively, man,
it's it's hard to say anything negative about this Cowboys
offense because they have been clicking on all cylinders since
the beginning of the season. You know, I still say,
if there's no delay, they probably beat the Eagles. You
know what happened in Chicago, you know whatever, it was

a bad game, whatever, And then of course the game
against Green Bay that showed they could put points on
the on the board. That shows that they could be unstoppable.
And then look what they did this past weekend. So
the kudos to the offense, kudos to Shati. Dak has
looked tremendous. And you know, I even hit I even

hit the that's my quarterback the other day on Facebook
and I haven't done that in a while.

What are your thoughts on Dak and how well he's
played so far this season and what do you see

say mediocre five tds for the year. You're right, man,
that's a big deal. And if you put two plays,
if I put two plays on his shoulders for this
season so far, there's the fumble, right, and then there's

that play. You just mentioned the play right before the half,
because I mean he literally ran over one of his
own guys. Too, And I know you saw the ha bro.
It was like painful to watch because he just say, hey,
get the hell out of my way, and he just
I mean, I will say this man, the fact that
he didn't score.

if the defense can can pick up the slack, just

Well, I think I know they switched the scheme a
little bit this past week, so they went more to
man to man on the back end than they did
the previous four weeks. So that that helped a little bit.
And you know, Diggs is still a liability. Like let's
let's not pretend that this guy is as good as

man it helps him a little bit more because he
is willing to take a risk, he is willing to
make a play. He's not gonna tackle anybody, He's not

quarterbacks and receivers, we'll see if that's if that's a
good thing for you to be able to play in

sacks on Sunday. You know, this Houston guy, I don't

know where he was. I don't know why Detroit let
him go, But he's played well. I saw a stat
he has three and a half sacks on the year.
Micah Parsons has two and a half. So I'm not
I mean, I'm not saying that he's Micah. But if
you're getting equal to, or in some cases a little

bit better production out of a guy that you're paying
for one million dollars and the guy that you let
go or trade it away is making forty million and
he's not doing as well as this guy is, I
don't know. Maybe that that says something, but uh, there

is the potential there for the Cowboys defense to get better. Yes,
it's just it's not very good right now. It's it's
it's one of those things that you know, you kind
of hold your breath as a Cowboys fan when they
get out on the field because you're like, oh man, please,

Broncos going into Philadelphia beating the Eagles this past weekend.

they just beat the Chiefs. You know they've been They've
been a pleasant surprise in a lot of ways. Honestly,
I didn't think your your favorite quarterback up there in
Pittsburgh was gonna play as well as he has and
have that team playing as well as they are. In
the NFC, there's really no one that surprises me, man.

top teams in the NFC are who Philadelphia, the Rams,
the the Lions. You know, you might be able to
throw the Redskins in there. You could maybe say the Cowboys.
