Gearnetwork dot com. The following isa presentation of the Gear Radio Network.
What's going on, everybody. It'syour Boy Chatz from the Fantasy Football Bros.
Podcast and we are in the offseason, so we will be bringing
you new episodes every couple of weeks. But in the meantime, I am
(00:22):
still gonna post some content. Youare gonna hear two record reviews from my
other channel, the Chazz Cast.Welcome back everybody to the Fantasy Football Bros.
Podcast. It's your Boy Chazz andwe are doing a live mock draft
in on Twitch. You can findmy personal twitch, the Chazz Cast on
(00:43):
Twitch, as well as the ChazzCast on YouTube. We've got a couple
of people in the chat. Wegot the Fantasy Football surgeon himself, Zags
in the chat, and then we'vegot a new friend, new friend of
the show, Storm in the chat. We're talking just before and we are
going to be picking sixth in thisFantasy Football early early mock draft. The
(01:04):
mock drafts just went live. We'reabout a week after the draft and looking
early at some of these some ofthese people your top We'll give you the
top like five at each position onearly rankings. Here Josh Allen, Jalen
Hurts, Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes, Anthony Richardson at five. Interesting at
(01:26):
running back, Christian McCaffery, bJeon Robinson, Bree Hall, Jamir Gibbs,
Kyrin Williams, Interesting wide receiver,Ceedee Lamb, Tyreek Hill, Justin
Jefferson, Jamar Chase, I'm inRon Saint Brown And honestly, that's not
too different from last year, otherthan CD making a big jump, that's
all the same. Just about tightend, Travis Kelcey, Sam Laporter,
(01:49):
Mark Andrews, Danny Trey McBride,Dalton kincaid at five. And who's your
tenth round keeper of Dave is alloar right? Top five kickers just for
fun, Justin Tucker, Evan McPherson, Harrison Butker, Tyler Bass, Daniel
Carlson. Your top five defenses Washington, Tennessee, Tampa Bay, San Francisco,
(02:10):
Seattle. I don't even know, like, why would Washington be up
there? Maybe they're not ranked yet. That don't seem right. Is Washington
good defense? Am I missing somethinghere? I know? I feel they
go to rooting for one of ourbills. Guys, that's what we like
to see kincaid. Okay, sowe are going to hit the draft in
(02:31):
a second. Here, we're stickingat sixth Dave. This is our this
is our Fantasy Football Bros. Podcastsettings. So we've got one quarterback,
two running backs, two wide receivers, two flexes wide receiver, running back
(02:51):
or tight end, one tight end, one kicker, one defense, and
it's a pretty big bench. Sothere you have it, guys. The
cool thing about the Sleeper app foranybody at home is, yeah, weren't
they a bad deference? I thinkthey were a bad defense last year.
I just I think that maybe they'renot ranked yet that great. But anyway,
so what we're doing here is weare doing the draft. And the
(03:14):
cool thing on Sleeper is an ADPgenerated draft, So like you don't have
to sit there and wait like ifyou do you Yahoo draft you have to
wait for the picks. You don'treally have to do that. Here goes
fairly quick. So you guys cansee everything on the video here basically except
the team names. But you don'tneed to see the team names. We're
picking right here in the middle. All right, we're ready to hit start
draft. Let's go. Were youready? Oh? Oh, turning these
(03:38):
sounds off. Okay, all right, so unsurprising, I guess, kind
of surprisingly off the rip. You'vegot Tyreek Hill, Christian McCaffrey, Double
j Justin Jefferson, Jamyer Chase andCeedee Lamb four wide receivers in the first
pick, and then Cemac goes offthe board. So very interesting start to
(04:01):
the draft. I'm sitting here.Yeah, we're drafted against computers, but
it's all a DP so it's gonnachange throughout. So I said it earlier,
I'm gonna do it right now. We're gonna start with Jean Robinson,
one of my favorite players that hegot Arman Rah, Breise Hall, aj
(04:23):
Brown, Pooka Nakula, Garrett Wilson, and Kyrone Williams drafted in the twelfth
spot. I'm a little worried aboutKyrin Williams. The the uh he had
a great year, but the uh, the Rams went and got Blake korm
who who scores a lot of touchdowns. So it's it's interesting. It's not
crazy to say JJ over CD.I mean CD's had one fantastic year.
(04:46):
JJ said two, like maybe eventhree, right, So like I don't
think it's absurd so receivers. I'mwe're on the second pick, our second
pick of this or our second pickin the second round. One, two,
three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine,
ten, eleven, eleven receivers wentbefore. We're up again. So sitting
(05:09):
here looking at people we've got. We've got tavon a chain sitting around here.
Oh god, another baby boy,Dave I got to take. I'm
sorry, I took my one favoriterunning back in the league. Now I'm
taking my other Sae Kwon Barkley, two running backs to start. Interesting for
me, it's a different strategy.JJ McCarthy JJ to JJ JJ the jet
(05:33):
plane. Bruh. You knew Iwas taking que. This is interesting because
I haven't done. So now there'sa ton I got two fantastic running backs,
and now we are in the whatdo we got left? Mode?
Here? Right? So? Istill think there's some my bads. I
(05:54):
messed up lost the draft. Itshould be back. It's back, Okay,
we would you get out of here? Okay, So there's still some
great running backs, actually, holycow, but there's still some good receivers.
So right here we're looking at Deebo, Samuel Michael Pittman Mike Evans,
Drake London, Malik Neighbors. I'mtorn between Deebo and Mike Pittman, but
(06:15):
I'm going Mike Pittman. I'm gonnatake Mike Pittman. Here's my number one
on this squad. I love MichaelPittman. I like Deebo two. But
again, like you mentioned, you'reafraid of of Kwan getting injured, I'm
afraid of Debo getting injured. Sowe got three tight ends in the third
round. Three tight ends gone inthe third round. Very interesting. We
(06:35):
still have some great receivers on theboard, so I'm definitely taking another one.
Our top few here are T Higgins, Amri Cooper's A Flowers. I'm
gonna go with T Higgins here, right, How Diggs did he go?
Did Digs go or no? Didhe did go? Where did he go?
He went to that back end ofthe second round, so Stefan Diggs
(06:55):
back end of the second round,So nearly a third round pick for Diggs,
and I wouldn't be surprised if hehas third round pick. But we're
going to Higgins here. So nowwe got some quarterbacks off the board.
Four quarterbacks are off the board, three tight ends are off the board.
Back to my five tight ends.So Trey McBride in the fifth round.
That's a guy that I'm thinking asa keeper in our league because he's a
(07:18):
I don't know. He was afree agent pickup for me, So Trey
McBride could be on my team.We still got a lot of good receivers
here, guys sitting around, andI don't need to pick a a running
back. I'm not worried. I'mgetting a little scared a tight end.
But new quarterback coming into town. We're gonna take our gamble here and scary
(07:40):
Terry because this is a four flexor. You know, you start two
flexes, so you can start fourreceivers. You can start four running backs
if you want it. Oh,Dalton Kincaid went off the board. C
J. Stroud went off the board. Looking at tight ends. There's still
some. There's still about five tosix tight ends. I'd be comfortable starting.
(08:01):
So we're gonna wait right now,we're looking at We've got Bijon Robinson,
Sakuon Barkley, Michael Pittman, THiggins, Terry McLaurin. I'm gonna
get back on the running back trainhere because it's starting to thin out alltho,
there's still a lot of good peopleleft. To be quite honest,
what's over here at QB oh Manh I'm just gonna pull the trigger on
(08:24):
him. Let's get Anthony Richards andAnthony Richards into Michael Pittman connection. There
were still a few tight ends Iliked. I should still be able to
get one of them on the backswing here, all right, and I
am gonna get it, get oneof the tight ends I wanted. I
know Dave's gonna hate it, butnew quarterback, give him a chance.
Kyle Pitts, all right, Soand I you know what, howpit hasn't
(08:46):
been great. This is my seventhround pick. It's not like him.
He going into third or the fourthlike he was the past few years.
So I'm very comfortable with him there. So looking back now, we still
need to start filling up our benchhere. So what would you rather be
take there? We had this argumentlast year between Kyle Pitts and Dallas Goddter,
(09:07):
right like Dallas Garter was there. Now there's a running back here that
I like sitting here that's coming offof an injury. There's actually two here.
But this is what I'm deciding guys, Nick Chubb who's coming off of
a horrible injury, and Javonte Williams, who's coming off of an injury that's
(09:31):
two years ago. So we're gonnago Javonte Williams here. Nick Chub might
still be hanging around, and ifhe is hanging around, I might grab
him. Now he's gone. Nowthat's fine, because there is another running
back sitting here. I know I'mgonna get another one of my faves,
DeAndre Swift right there. Yeah,we went with Javonte. So now we
got four running backs. We gotthree receivers. Okay, so we're gonna
(09:58):
look into the receivers again. Actually, there's a running back down there late
that's calling my name, but we'regonna skip out on him for a second.
Okay. Very good wide receiver, not sorry, very good wide receivers
not the right word. But Isee value here. The best receiver on
the board, Tyler Lockett. Justput Tyler Lockett here as our wide receiver
for nothing wrong with that pick.Tyler Lockett sitting at our wide receiver for
(10:24):
We're gonna take a look at ourteam right now. We got him.
I'mmitted here. We're gonna take alook at our team so far. All
right, We've got Anthony Richardson,Bjeon Robinson, Saquon Barkley, Michael Pittman,
T Higgins, Kyle Pitts, TerryMcLaurin, Chavante Williams. On the
bench, we got DeAndre Swift andTyler Lockett. I like where it's sitting
(10:45):
so far. I really do likewhere it's sitting so far. Back on
the clock here, we got abig bench. We still got a lot
of positions to fill. So therewas a running back I was looking at.
Is he's still there? He isstill there, the starting running back
for the Cincinni Bengals. Give meZach Moss here. I know he's awful,
(11:07):
but he was tearing it tearing itup last year, right Like I
don't know somebody else here at runningback I might take for depth. Mmmm,
because this we're really starting to go, Nah, what's over here at
receiver? All right, we're gonnawe're getting We're getting a rookie. Guys
(11:30):
up, I gotta scroll, Isee, I see, I gotta scroll.
Let's scroll. Okay, So we'vegot one at two, three,
four, five, six picks left, two of them are kickering defense.
So we got four bench spots left, so it might be one more running
back, one more receiver, backup, quarterback, back up, tight end.
We'll see, we'll see what wedecide what we want to do here.
But we're gonna get some rookie actionhere, and we're gonna take uh,
(11:58):
we'll look over the he went earlythough, probably the third round.
We'll look over the board in aminute. We'll take We take a rookie
Can Coleman for the Bills, getJosh Allen's possible number one target. But
the reason we say impossible is becauseI planned this and if it works out
my way, which it did,we're also gonna take Curtis Samuel. So
we have quite possibly Josh Allen's numberone receiver there right, so we will
(12:26):
see how that works out. Allright, So we have two more bench
spots. We don't take kicker indefense to last. So so looking over
here, this guy is so lateand who knows he's talking about retire retirement,
but he's so damn late, andhe's so damn good. Let's take
Darren Waller here right now. Nowwe're gonna we're gonna get people falling there's
(12:52):
a backup quarterback. I'm eyeing downperfect, perfect Jayden Daniels, bring it.
Guy can run for seven eight hundredyards this year. M the defenses,
I don't know if they're ranked right, but I see forty nine ers.
So we're just gonna take them. And then we're gonna end with our
(13:16):
kicker. And we are gonna takeI think the number one kicker last year
from the Cowboys. So there wego. Best thing about these sleeper drafts,
they go so fast. So let'slook over the draft board. Look
(13:37):
how many wide receivers. Look atall that blue. So Marvin Harrison went
second pick of the third round beforeTravis Kelcey. So they took that.
Team took McCaffrey, she Rice,Marvin Harrison, Patrick Mahomes. I mean
not bad. I just don't wantto buy into Rashi Rice and Marvin Harrison.
Right, she raised had a goodseason. I don't know about second
(13:58):
round pick this year, especially withthe suspension, and then Marvin Harrison a
rookie stuff, But you never know. This guy's number two running backs Tod
J. Spears, but he cameback with with Nick Chubb and Zamir White,
who has no competition right now.But we're talking about my team,
so right here, our team righthere. So we got Bijon Robinson,
(14:18):
sat Quon Barkley, Michael Pittman,T Higgins and Terry McLaurin, Anthony Richardson,
Kyle Pitts, you got Chavante Williams, DeAndre Swift, Tyler Lockett,
Zach Moss, Ken Coleman, CurtisSamuel, gonna get one of those guys,
Darren Waller, Jay and Daniels fortynine ers and Brandon Aubrey the kicker.
Looking at how the lineup shakes outover here, you know with the
(14:43):
double flex there. Honestly, I'dprobably put DeAndre Swift maybe above the Savante
Williams in that flex spot, butI like it. So, uh,
we got the boys in the chat. What'd you guys think. Where was
my biggest miss? Yeah, Rice'stoo early, Storm agrees with. I
know Dave's gonna say that Pitt's mybiggest miss, But I mean that was
sixth, seventh round, bro, seventh round. That's not a miss.
(15:03):
In the seventh round over Dallas Goddard. I think he shaked out pretty good
for the middle of the draft.I got two stud running backs, I
got it. But with the studrunning backs, you know, I don't
have a Stud receiver per se,but I could have a Stud receiver.
I mean, Pittman was awesome lastyear. Michael Pittman was awesome last year.
(15:24):
See, Higgins had a down year. Terry McLaurin with a new quarterback,
Tyler Lockett's always great. And betweenthese two Bills receivers, you never
know. Tyler Lockett's always good, not great, you know. So yeah,
right, Higgins a wide receiver too, is the only scary thing.
But Higgins was awesome for a coupleof years with Joe Burrow, right,
(15:48):
so maybe it was just an offyear. The thing with Moss though,
is he was so late that he'smy fourth or faith running back. So
he's just there and he's the numberone running back in Cincinnati. That's a
valuable piece that've been Joe mixing fora few years. So and if Higgins
becomes a Buffalo Bill or something, hey, we got it all right.
(16:14):
So that's the end of the videofor the YouTube here, guys, thanks
for checking out. They shut outthe video. Find the Chazz Cast on
YouTube. Find the Chazz Cast onTwitch. You can join one of these
with the boys and be chatting withus. So until then, we'll see
you next time, guys. Piecewhat's going on? It's a boy Chazz
And today we're breaking down Collection twoby Misfits. Dull time right type don
(17:07):
right type do what's going on?Everybody? It's your boy Chazz And today
we are breaking down Collection too byMisfits. Now, remember, guys,
it you know, when you're lookingfor Misfits, it's it's, it's it's
up and down. For instance,on the spine of this it says the
Misfits, But if you look forthem on Spotify and stuff, all you
(17:30):
look for is Misfits and it comesup. So I don't know, I
guess I don't know what the properuh, the proper name is. This
is a nineteen ninety five release. The vinyl right here, cool cover,
the Faint Guy in the back kindof the same thing. This is kind
(17:52):
of just a lazy album and alot of aspects, but we'll get to
that. All I got is theEve in the black vinyl with the same
picture on the middle sticker. NowI have no I have grown to I
have a Misfits tattoo. Okay, there it is right there. So I
(18:22):
like the Misfits to an extent, right, but I really, really really,
I mean I would I would sayobviously with the tattoo, I love
nineties Misfits with Michael Graves. Mybiggest gripe with the Danzig era of the
Misfits, this thing doesn't want togo in right. My biggest gripe with
(18:45):
the Danzig era of Misfits is,you know it's so old. You know
this is not gonna stay now likealways, fuck, I can't get this
to stay. You know, thatMisfits music, it just was never recorded
well like it was. It wasjust it's always sounds like ass. Most
(19:11):
of it sounds like ass. AndI don't mean the way the songs are
written, it's just through recording thateighties, late seventies, early eighties recordings
of it doesn't sound good and italways has bothered me. And it's like
if you listen to Misfits covers, and Metallica has done that with Last Kreesse
(19:33):
and died I Dialing Famously and thenother bands. AFI has got a real
good one of Halloween. They're somuch better, just because the Misfits recordings
they just jumbled and they sound likecrap. And you know, I don't
think the Misfits, I don't know, just ever really got that good recording
(19:53):
back with dan Zig, and someof the stuff sounds better than others,
to be fair, but you know, you hear some of that stuff and
it just sounds like garbage. Andas I get older, it's like I
just kind of shy away now fromthat. You know, d you know
DIY punk rock, you know, basement sound, and it's not shitting on
(20:15):
that because that's what you have todo to make it. But like for
a big band like this to nothave great sound sound, you know,
it bothers me. And it's like, I just I I still like the
Misfits. I don't regret the tattoo. But I will take Michael Graves Era
(20:36):
any day of the week. Bothof his albums Walk among Us, Wait
Yeah, No Yeah, Walk amongUs and Famous Monsters and if I'm wrong,
I'm wrong. I got Misfits onthe brain. But both of his
albums from like ninety six and ninetyeight or something like that, just after
this this album we're talking about, the production is way better. It sounds
(20:56):
way better. Even some of thelatter stuff would would just Jerry Singing Project
nineteen fifty I Love the Friday thethirteenth EPI love. I think it's called
black Brain. I think it's calledthat. I love that too. So
like it's just the quality that getsme, and I'm just like it irks
(21:17):
me. Let's lead, Let's readthe blurb. Collection two, also known
as Misfits To, a compilation albumof songs by American punk rock band Misfits,
released on November fourteenth, nineteen ninetyfive. It serves as a companion
album to the band's previous compilation Collectionone. Both compilations collect all the early
singles and the entire Earth Ad SlashWolf's Blood album, and are meant to
(21:42):
compliment Walk among Us not represented herebecause of Warner Brothers owning the rights and
legacy of Brutality with a little overlap, All the early singles are supposed to
be represented, although alternate, alternatealternative sorry versions of some songs are use
instead of the original releases. Solike, that's what I'm getting at with
(22:03):
this. So a lot of thisstuff I don't want to say is demo
quality, but it's not. It'scertainly not full album quality on this.
You know, and it's tough toget through how one song kind of sounds
like jumbled and one song sounds allright. And I don't know, like
I just have not found like agood I don't know, a not a
(22:26):
repress, but like a you know, when they remaster, that's the word
I'm looking for. I haven't founda good remaster or anything of this.
It's just crazy to think, man, how the Misfits chron chronic chronology,
chronology is so small, and itjust they had their three albums basically the
(22:52):
live album they had. They hadWalk among Us, you know, as
a full album, and then theyhad a live album and a bunch of
EP and stuff. So it's justweird how they got so big from doing
it that way. And that's okay, Like it's that DIY punk mentality.
(23:12):
I always held them in the sameupper regards of Ramones, but Ramones just
came up with album after album afteralbum, and obviously because those are the
big late seventies, but I guessRamontes was a little earlier. But still,
like, there's just something about theMisfits sound at the time that irks
me. And I know I saidthat before. That's why I love the
(23:33):
covers. That's why I love thelatter stuff. But let's get into the
tracks on the album. I knowlast week I played a little bit of
all the songs. I'm not gonnado that per se. This time.
I'm gonna do a little bit justbecause I still got copywritten. And plus
there's twenty songs on this, solet's get it rolling with We are one
(23:56):
thirty eight. The Misfits also havethis thing with Jerry only has to have
his fucking bass so loud at everysong, and like it's just kind of
like kind of I don't want tosay it kills it for me, but
it just it sticks out way toomuch. Next song we got here is
(24:22):
Attitude again. So these are good. These are good Miswitch tracks. They
sound okay, cough cool. Butthen we've got after cough cool. We've
got a banger that everybody should know. Let's see if you guys know this
(24:42):
one sounds like assha Jerry's Attitude greatsong. Everybody knows this song, of
course from Metallica covering it and everythinglike that. It's just I don't know,
(25:06):
he's got that Jerry out of tunepart that bugs me. There's not
the greatest sound. Return of theFly is next, Children in Heat,
rat Fink, which is a cover, which is I can live without,
sounds like ass ass sounds like anasshole. It's it's just Jerry. Maybe
(25:27):
it's Jerry only that kills it.Horror Hotel, and then here we go,
This is a Banker. It soundslike shit though this is Halloween f
This is a great song. Ialways like this one a lot. This
(25:48):
is the one you're gonna hear meplay. Maybe I'll even sing it.
And then we got Halloween two, which sucks. It's just like a PostScript.
I don't know what to say comeabout it. Then he got Hate
Breeders, Brain Eaters, which isn'tbad. Brain Eaters isn't a bad one,
but again some Reverby or something there. Then he got Nike Go Go,
(26:18):
Devil's Whorehouse, Mephisto, Waltz,we Bite, Queen Lost, demon
Omania, demon Omania, hell Bound, and Blood Feast. So I don't
know, it's not my favorite albumin the world. It's just the sound
kills me, you know, Andand i've they can do better, and
I wish Missfits could figure something outhere. I know they're back on tour
(26:45):
here and there with Jerry and Doyleand and Glenn sorry lost his name there.
I would go see them for sure. I've seen them before with Jerry
and the other guy is not thethou Jerry and Company. It was great
man. And then I actually seenDanzig live solo and he brought Doyle up
(27:07):
and played some Misfits songs, whichwas awesome too. So but they just
don't seem to come to my areaand I would like to see them.
But I love them, and I'msure i'll enjoy them more live. But
I'll tell you give me that MichaelGraves Misfits era Misfits. I said Misfits
a lot. Michael Graves era Misfits, I would say nine out of ten
(27:32):
times over Danzig Misfits. And that'sokay. Don't hate on me, don't
be haters. It just sounds better, and it's just the songs are poppier
to it. It's not poppier, but just those choruses. Mike Michael Graves
is great with hooks. And Ilike Danzig too, and I like the
Misfits. So you know, Iwas a little let down by this album,
honestly, like when I when Istarted listening to it again, I'm
(27:52):
like, oh, just started makingme have all those feelings that of not
enjoying the sound of it, andI wish I did. So I'm gonna
give this album a I don't knowfive, five out of ten could even
be lower, but we'll just sayfive out of ten. If you guys
didn't see, I posted my recordstore video, my Record Store Day video
(28:14):
a few days ago. Check outthat log. I didn't get exactly what
I was looking for, but Idid add more to the collection. And
now the collection is up to sixfifty eight. So let's get our next
week's song rolling here, and you'regonna end with me playing and singing a
misfit song for you. And herewe are, as usual in our beginning
of our Rando collection. Let's giveit a shake. Oh okay, all
(28:40):
right, okay, this is whatthis is about, I guess, discovering
new stuff. This is Tooth,Fang and Claw by Ted Nugent's am Boy
Dukes. This is from nineteen seventyfour. Looking at the songs. Okay,
this has got the great White Buffalo, which I know Ted does,
(29:03):
but it's got Lady Luck living inthe woods Hibernation, three tracks on Saday,
Free Flight, Maybelene, the GreatWhite Buffalo, Sasha, No Holds
Bar, and I'm Thinking that Yeahthat Maybolene is a cover of the Chuck
Berry song. So don't know thisalbum that well. We're not talking politics,
so miss me with all the TedNugent praise and or slander. I
(29:27):
don't care about politics. We separatethe art from the artists here, people,
all right. Ted Nugent is alegend, a fantastic guitar player.
This is his early stuff before hewent solo. So this is Tooth,
Fang and Claw by Amboy Duke's yougot your homework. You know what you
gotta do. Thanks for checking outthe video, like common, subscribe all
(29:49):
that stuff. Check out my lastrecord store video. Stick around for the
music, and until then we willsee you next time. Peace all right?
So now signed for the little guitarportion of the show, we're gonna
do Halloween, but real quick,I'll show you a quick riff of the
last Caress. Now I got somethingto say. I kill your baby Today
(30:19):
doesn't matter much to me as longas seas three Okay, easy song say
Lonely Day. I've been waiting foryou of way, Lovely Day one,
last Covers, Last Cresty Day heresomething like that. I don't know,
(30:41):
but we're gonna do Halloween. SoHalloween is, you know, a punk
song, but I'm gonna play ita little bit punky, but also a
little bit acoustic because it goes wellacoustic. Actually, So here's your riff,
(31:06):
but we're gonna try that with alittle bit of an acoustic flare.
So here we go. Bombay isburning fry, poking faces in the nine.
I remember Halloween, dead casts hangingfrom poles, Little Dead out loud
in truths. I remember Holloween,Browning, You're to go, we Skelet's
(31:34):
life is known. I remember howAway this day anythink good? Burning bodies
hang from poles. I remember Holdawaypretty for the big course, Halloween,
(32:06):
Halloway, Halloway, Halloween, Halloway, Hallowey, Halloween, Halloween, Kenny
Everson raisingly, little Dead, Isoon in grace. I remember Holloway this
(32:30):
day anything goes for anybody's paying frombulf I remember Hollowey in Holloway, Halloween,
Halloween, Halloway, Halloway, HolloweyHalloween. All right, A little
(32:57):
bit of misfits Halloween. That's theacoustic version. That's the right way to
do it. Just do those withyour regular power chords if you don't want
to do an acoustic version. Butthe best version of that song is easily
by a FI. So thanks forchecking it out. I hope you guys
liked it. Until then, we'llsee you next time. Peace bit.
(33:17):
What's up y'all too, boy Chas, And today we are breaking down the
Ted Nugents Amboy Duke's tooth, fangand Claw? Why right? What's going
(33:59):
on? Everybody? It's your boyChaz, joined automatically by Pickles over here,
which that bubbs. She's a bigfan, as you know of Ted
Nugent. Yes, my favorite songis cut Scratch Fever, and we here
to talk about amboy Duke's tooth, fang and claw. This one says Ted
(34:21):
Nugent's Amboy Duke's right, Ted Nugent'samboy Duke's tooth, fang and claw.
Sorry, she's got eye boogies, all right, she gucci now. So
it was just a little background researchon the amboy Dukes, just because I
didn't know too much about him.I knew it started started Ted Nugent,
(34:42):
but it ended up being This wastheir seventh and final album in nineteen seventy
three four nineteen seventy four their finalalbum with Ted, well in general,
because Ted Nugent went on his famoussolo career, so really it's crazy to
think that they came out nineteen sixtyseven and Tad broke it loose probably in
(35:06):
seventy four seventy five, so hewas around a long time before he really
got on a solo career. Andnobody ever talks about the Mboy Dukes.
Really, they only talk about UncleTed. The only thing I ever really
knew from the Dukes coming in tothis review was Journey to the Center of
the Mine because and honestly I knewthat a lot because the Ramones covered it
(35:30):
on their Acid Either Eaters album Acidto Eaters not ass Eaters. And then
upon listening to this record, Iknew the Great White Buffalo, which is
on here. So we're talking abouttooth, fang and claw. You got
a oh okay, she's gone dustyass album here Ted Nugent to you know,
(35:53):
with teeth and fangs, claws doesn'tshow, but kind of like a
werewolfe, they're just like an animal. Cover you could see the front,
Ted Nugents amboy Duke's tooth thing andclaw on the back. There's good old
Uncle Ted with a big old stackthere, Marshall Stack throwing down some leads
(36:20):
or something. Guys A rock star. Remember we don't talk about politics here.
I don't give a shit if youlove him or hate him for his
politics. Guys a rock star. This song has eight or this album's eight
songs Hibernas, Hibernation, Sasha,Lucky Lady Luck, Living in the Woods,
Free Flight, No Holds Barred, the Great White Buffalo, and Maybolene
(36:45):
produced by Lou Futterman, Ted NuGenand John Child And it was recorded at
the Sound Pit in Atlanta, Georgia, June to July seventy four. It
features Rob Grange on bass, vicManstrini and drums, tires and vocals as
uncle Ted. So that is uhtooth, fang and claw from uncle Ted
(37:07):
now the fun part of the show. Can I get this back on the
stand? Nope. You guys knowI always have trouble with this guy.
We always have trouble with him.Always. There we go, got it.
Let's see if he falls or not. So let's read a little about
this album Before We Go Into theTUNEAE Tooth, Fang and Claw is the
(37:31):
seventh and final studio album by TheAmboy Dukes. Credited as Ted Nugent's A
Boy Dukes, the band's second releaseon Discrete Records. It was the final
album released under the am Boy Duke'sname before Ted Nugent launched into his solo
career the following year. There's actuallya lot of blurbs in here. Let's
(37:52):
talk about a couple other things. In nineteen seventy five, Nugent abandoned the
Trouble Discrete label and signed with EpicRecords. He teamed with producer time Tom
Weierman and Arismith's managers Lever Krebs, who organized his live tours into commercially successful
operations. The only Amboy Duke's memberwho continued with The Nugent in his solo
(38:12):
careers bassist Rob Grange. Nugent's bandalso included Derek sand Holmes on vocals and
guitar drummer Clifford Davis. Ted Nugentmoved forward to national and worldwide success.
In seventy seven, both of TheAmboy Duke's discrete releases were reissued by Warner
Brothers as compilation as a compilation entitledTwo Originals of Ted Nugent. In the
(38:34):
nineteen ninety three film Days and Confused, the character Wooderson, played by Matthew
McConaughey, wears a T shirt featuringthe tooth Fang and Claw album cover.
In nineteen ninety five. Tooth Thangin Claw was a song on the album
of Spear of the Wild, whichmarked Ted Nugent's returned to an outdoor lifestyle
and his original sound of hard rock. So there's your background on the album.
(38:59):
And that's interesting to see that, like his outdoor style or whatever.
So he kind of I guess heyeah, I guess he didn't like yeah,
because Great White Buffalo is a isyou know, a woodsy song if
you will. But then when youthink about it, all the other big
one, Stormtrooping and and and anduh cat scratch Fever and uh, this
(39:20):
is the one everybody like Stranglehold, they're not, you know, woodsy songs.
And I know, uh, youknow. Podcast grouperstar Robbie Vegas uh
was kind of like slamming on tadfor on his latest album, singing a
song about a campfire and stuff. So so he takes that a little too
far, uh, this woodsy stuff, but you know he found his his
(39:40):
calling. So one thing I noticedright off the bat when I read the
track list off the record, comparativeto Spotify, they're different, right,
So Spotify album starts with Lady Luckthe classic Ted Nugent sound. Is this
(40:14):
heavier than I was expected? Nicebig intro to kick off. I guess
the album I don't know. Itdoesn't say it. I'm there, but
(40:43):
Ted Nugi coming and ripping off thegate. Now it's kind of got.
It's you know, seventies groove upheatthough there's Uncle Ted, nice little chromatic
(41:17):
rise there. So this song kicksoff. This sounds like almost ten hundred
solo album right moving forward, it'suh, it's I guess it's a taste
of what's yet to come. Thisalbum's all over the place. Actually,
(41:39):
So one thing I know I likeabout this song is it's kind of a
pretty sick breakdown. Let's let's goahead on it a little bit. There
we go, We're getting into thebreakdown in the second. Right, break
it down, boys boo. Ilove that breakdown. I love that lead
(42:16):
riff. You know this is Acefreely. You know, I don't want
to say he's really inspired because therehe's out about this time. You can
tell he's took from time. Sothat's lady looking. I like that song
a lot. I like that breakdown. Let's get to living in the woods.
(42:37):
He's got a little more amboy Duke'sfeel to it. That that's Ed
nugent, fuzzy sounding guitar. He'sa cool song though. I like these
chord changes. Now. See,I'm just enjoying the ride right now.
(43:09):
And I know I'm just giving themany money right now because I'm enjoying listening
to this album. Now we're inhibernation. The more see, the more
I say this song names, themore definitely they're like outdoorsy song. So
(43:30):
up, we gotta lead in withthe guitar, we we. This song
is nine minutes and twenty four seconds, so this is a long one.
This is a thick boy right here? Is it worth it? Is it
worth this build up? Let's seeit. You've already had twenty five seconds
of this build up right now?Are you gonna make it worth that?
(43:52):
Ted come on? What you gotbaby? Would you got baby? Come
out with Teddy thirty five seconds, one guitar note. So far, it's
all bass. It's all basin onthe ride. Forty seconds now is this
(44:14):
intro necessary? Fifty five seconds? One full minute so far, one full
minute of nothing but one guitar note. You guys are probably bored as shit
right now. But don't blame me. To blame Uncle Tad. It's not
(44:34):
my fault. Oh are we buildingup? Come on, uncle sand let's
go fucking go. Nope, not'there is. It's not as heavy,
but this is Sabbath inspired. Thinkingof last year's album, last week's album,
(44:59):
Frosty the Snow Minute. I'm prettysure this is an instrumental. Let's
skip halfway through. I like thisrun right here. Sam bug is a
(45:20):
good guitar player. Man, Well, there's your hibernation. Kind of a
long instrumental, but here we go. Here's free flights. I don't like
(45:42):
when guitar is solo like this sometimesdoes. It's not my favorite. I
don't like that. I just don't. I just don't like the scale.
Let's end there something about it.Come on, Ted, pick it up,
(46:07):
baby, let's go. Let's go. Ted. The audience is lady,
Come on, Ted, let's go. It's losing me. The albums
losing me at this point, honestlylosing me. Honestly, I didn't even
(46:40):
realize this was another instrumental. Next, Okay, now we got to cover
song Chuck Berry's Maybe Lad, Let'sgive this a shot. You, I
(47:00):
mean, you should know the song. If you know old school rock music.
It literally sounds like Chuck Barry's version. Just fast. Got funk Field
for this, honestly, all right? Next, now the song you should
(47:30):
know the Great White Buffalo. Ilove this rift. This is the riff.
You're gonna sit here and me playlater and guitar kind of because it's
not the easiest. Who's got agood swagger? Rock Field. It's a
(48:10):
good song, classic technologent. Thisis Sasha m I'm a sucker for clean
intros. But it depends on whereyou go with it. Okay, are
(48:34):
you gonna pick it up, UncleTad? What you're gonna do? What
you're gonna do, Uncle Tad?Let's skip ahead? Ready show not a
(48:55):
fan? No, not a fan. Here's the thing, Uncle Ted.
I don't like their grateful dead, and I certainly don't like when Uncle Tad
are trying to sound like the dead. Well that wrong. I don't like
when Uncle Ted sounds like they're grateful. Dad. Yeah, not a fan
(49:17):
nest we got no holds barred? What you got from Me? Teddy Boy?
This the last song on the album, uncle Ted, What you Got,
What you Got? I melt intoyou. That's dirty bays. I
(49:37):
like it. Taste tasty, tasty, itchy tasty. There you go,
(50:14):
there you go. Whoops, Irestarted. That was another long intro.
Slright, We're back. There yougo. A little dirty bass, kind
of a call and response guitar. All right, So you had your taste
(50:45):
of tooth, fang and claw fromAmboy Dukes Ted Nugent's Amboy Dukes. I've
never been the biggest Ted Nugian fan. I don't dislike Ted Dja by any
means. I've seen him live afew times. He always puts on a
great show. But he seems tobe the greatest hits band for me.
But to be fair, I'm notdissecting Ted nugron solo career, right,
(51:07):
I'm dissecting Amboy Duke. So thisalbum to me is it's okay, It's
fine. It's the down points aredown, you know, and the points
are okay, you know. It'slike a five or six. It's fine.
Yeah, I don't know if I'llever throw the vinyl on again,
but if it came up on shuffleor something, some of these songs,
(51:27):
I wouldn't run and turn off,you know what I mean. So like
it's okay, I'm interested for whensome of his solo stuff comes up on
here and to just listen to thatmore and break that down more. Because
this was the turn for him. This is a little more from my for
my research, more Ted Nugenti thanAmboy Duke. See right, So it's
(51:52):
kind of right in the middle. So and this album for me's kind of
right in the middle. Right,So I'm introducy if i'd like it more,
moving on to the Ted new andstuff. So do I recommend it?
I mean, you know, ifyou'd like it, right, you
gotta put his politics aside, whetheryou like him or hate him. And
if you know, Tanuja is agreat guitar player. He can make some
great sounds. He does some interestingthings in the guitar. Not the greatest
(52:15):
singer, but his voice has acharm to it. It's got a certain
charm to it. So if youlike Tatouji you like it, and if
you're you're if you don't like Tatoojit, you might not like it. And
if you don't like Tatnoujit for hispolitics, then you're not gonna like it.
You're not just gonna give in andlike it anyway. So that's on
you. What do you pickle stuff? Just messing everything up? You want
(52:39):
to come back on camera? Bruh, you want to come back? Come
on, come on, come on. Everybody wants to see you. They
said you haven't been on in awhile. Come on, come on.
I did not hear kat skirts Fevatoday. I'm not happy about that.
I thought we were gonna listen toput those Nails Away. I thought we
(53:00):
were going to listen to Cut ScratchFever and I didn't hear it. So
what do you want me to pickfor next week? You know what I
want to hear. I want tohear Peter Cris's solo album The Catman.
Yes, what's that? You mighthave put me down? I'm going to
kill you. Okay, hope, hope, hope, feisty girl. All
(53:20):
right, So we're moving on intonext week's. Next week's album of a
week, let's bring up the discigs. We are at six fifty nine now.
I added to the collection after RecordStore Day. I added the twenty
fourteen Hotter Than hel Kiss release.I have every Kiss album shocking right,
(53:45):
and a couple of different variants, but like, I want to make sure
that I have every like origin notoriginal pressing, but you know, older
seventies pressings and the twenty fourteen, the twenty fourteen reissues. I wish I
had a little extra money back teneight nine years ago when the twenty four
(54:05):
twenty fourteen Kiss Ish reissues came outon record, because I think you could
have bought the whole shebang, alltwenty eight albums or whatever for like three
hundred dollars. And now some ofthem are like forty to eighty eight,
right, So I got a bunchof them, but there's a few stragglers.
(54:27):
I don't think I have the alivere releases. I pretty much got
all the eighties, nineties, andso I got hit nab a few of
the seventies of the twenty fourteen rereleases. So that's something I'm working on.
We'll get there. I should havebeen doing it all this time.
But you know, I have amillion records as you know. But I've
just been I've been taking it moreseriously lately. So anyway, we're in
(54:52):
our collection page in the a's abeautiful lie. The first ones you see,
let's give her a shake? Andwhat really, we already did that
one the first time. It's happened. We've gotten we got Creatures of the
Night, but we already got thatone, so let's do it again.
We got boy. Now we're skippingthat one we got, Okay, the
one we skipped, don't worry aboutit. Okay, we have got not
(55:16):
a big cover to see. Butthis is the twenty seventeen re release of
the End of All Things to Comefrom mud Vein, so you're getting a
little heavier this time around. Theone we skipped was like an old fifties
collection. It's fine, just none, that's fine. We're just gonna skip
that one. The End of AllThings to Come by mud Vein. This
(55:39):
is famous for the song not Falling. You probably know that one's great song
too. Mudvein is a great likeprogressive heavy metal band from the early two
thousand's fantastic rhythm section. Chad Grayis a great singer. Nobody really talks
about the guitar player. But he'sreally good too. He's just got his
own style and but a lot oflike if you know mudvan you understand how
(56:01):
good Rhino is on the bass andeverything like that. So all right,
the end of all things to comefrom mud Vain is your homework. Guys,
stick around because coming up next, you're gonna see me attempt to play
the Great White Buffalo, all right, and we're gonna check that out now.
All right, So now we're herefor the guitar portion of the show,
(56:23):
trying to do the Great White Buffalo. When I say try it,
because it's like it's it's, it'sit's it's an easy ish riff ish,
but it's hard because it's quick. So your riff is is you're in that
you're in You're in an E minor. So if you're just thinking of like
the chords behind the song, it'sE major D. Hey, so that's
(56:45):
your riff. It's like M right, so simple, right, And if
you think, and I mean, that's all you could If that's all you
can do, great, you couldjust figure route, all right. So
(57:07):
like to give it the little flairis he uses his pinky, right,
So you got the get your Dhammer ran on the last string on the
third threat, and then on theA you do. They're kind of the
same thing on the second fret onthe third string, all right, So
(57:29):
that's the easy part of the riff. The E portion of the riff is
this long run he does, soit's like, sorry, right, So
you're just focusing on the the EA and the D string. This is
(57:51):
on the D right, and thenon the E on the A it's the
same thing. So just hammering, pulling off, and then on the east
ring you're pulling off the G andthen back to the half, the first
(58:13):
half of the original on the Dstring. So the hard part about it.
So that's what I'm sorry. Let'splay that the whole thing, you
know, nice and slow, simple, right, except Ted Nugent probably doubles
(58:50):
that speed and he also palmutes thatintro. So really the entro riff it's
hard, damn it. Let's trythat again. I'm not gonna edit this.
It's hard, it's it's quick,it's palm muted. It's hard to
(59:14):
do it. And then you keepgoing with that. It's a cool riff,
(59:44):
man, It's hard to pull offthough. Let it get it pull
off. So it's a hard riff. It's cool too. Uh. It's
fun to do though, so definitelypractice that riff. We we got your
homework. The End of All Thingsthat Come from mud Vein the black cover
it's kind of a matte pitch blackcover. It's a good heavy album.
If you guys are afraid of theheavy metal, I mean to give it
(01:00:04):
a shot, man, I mean, your tastes change after a while,
maybe you'll like it. There's somuch talent in mud Vein that you might
actually like this. So thanks forchecking out the video. Go ahead and
slam on me for the guitar. It's fine. I know never claim to
be the greatest guitar player, buta lot of my uh you know,
I could use some work obviously, and learning some of these riffs moving forward
(01:00:25):
and stuff should help my work,so should help my guitar playing. So
thanks for checking out of the videoThe End of All Things to Come from
mud Vein, And until then,we will see you next time. Peace.
(01:00:50):
