(00:59):
We start every episode with fashion newsand all of our segments are based on
the Fashion News Alert found on fashionatree dot com. So let's jump into
the current events in fashion. Sicilytake it away. I will so see.
Usually tannets you who gets the likeslightly scandalous news. But right now
(01:21):
I get to talk about a lawsuit. I know this week is my week.
A lawsuit and the astors have suedAdidas over the split with Kanye West.
Now investors are claiming that Adidas knewabout his erratic behavior for many years
and they didn't put any measures intoplace to deal with that bad behavior.
(01:42):
And there's a class action lawsuit that'sbeen filed, and of course Adidas has
said back that they reject these claims, are gonna defend themselves vigorously. But
I think it's such a fascinating,you know concept, and I'm you know,
I guess unfortunately for Adidas, theyare expecting a one point two billion
dollar loss in profits and easy productshad you know, produced a lot of
(02:07):
income for them. But at thesame time, I don't know, I
kind of am on this. Idon't I'm not on the side of anyone,
but I'm like I have seen KanyeWest over the years, so I
don't know. Maybe the investors havea point. What do you even,
Gianna, You sure have a point. But I think Kanye did not make
(02:29):
Adidas. Adidas was already a hugebrand without Kanye, So Kanye does not
make Adidas. So I don't thinkit's a big I mean, when I
think Adidas, I do not thinkKanye. So I think it's just you
know, that great amount of money. But you know, and what I
will say, the other thing that'skind of interesting to think about is like
(02:51):
Kanye is Kanye kind of because hewas had that all of that kind of
crazy personality. So I'm not sayinggood about or otherwise, but you know,
like what made him, what makeshim him? That the one would
argue that he got much worse aftersome time. That's true, that's true.
So you know, we'll see howit shakes out. But there's a
(03:12):
loss of fun. Interesting. Let'ssee what happens. Well, everyone has
been talking about Karl Lagerfeld in thepast a few weeks, so on the
heels of the Mad Gala and theRed Carpet and exhibition. On May second,
the Karl Lagerfeld documentary The Mysterious MisterLagerfeld aired on the BBC to a
(03:40):
five start rating. So it's alittle bit of a different view of Karl
Lagerfeld. So it's not too muchabout his work. I mean, it
includes his work at Channel and buta lot of his relationships, business partners,
(04:01):
um, his former friend the lawyerdoctor. So they will be sharing
a little more about you know, their relationship and their thoughts on Carl.
And of course we all know aboutto Pet, the famous cat um that
(04:23):
was probably m favorite thing alive inCarl's life for him, it will also
be part of the story. Sogoing to watch it, Well, I
love a good documentary, so I'msure that I will be interested to watch.
Obviously there's so much talent there butalso some controversy and you know,
(04:45):
so I'm sure it'll be a gooddocumentary. It was a controversial character that's
not new, so um. Butthere's always good um new input that comes
up in these documentaries, so absolutelyum. And a last bit of news
is about the teaming up of DuaLipa and Donna Telli but Donna Tella Versacium
(05:11):
because they are creating a luxury vacationfashion line that's going to be presented at
ten at the Film Festival on Maytwenty third, And this new collaboration is
called It's a Lack of Lovakanza giveMe Yes Yes Vacations vacation as part of
(05:31):
the Versachi line. I love it. I love it well, I do
love vacation, so like, I'minterested in seeing this line mostly because I
love vacation. Um but um.Obviously, Dua Lipa has been affiliated with
Versachi for a little bit of timeand actually walked in the spring twenty twenty
twenty twenty two Versachi Fashion Show. So, um, you know, I
(05:58):
think I think it looks interesting, you know. Um. Duelipa's you know,
clearly embedded in the world of fashionand with collaborations with Arsaci but also
with Easton, Larem Fragrance and PeppeJeans, and so you know, there's
definitely a hot you know, humanright now. So I'm to see.
(06:18):
I'm only curious to see how wouldit be different from a resort war because
it's I don't mean the same thing, so it might see might be the
same thing. But again I dolike resort weare and because I like vacation,
it makes me want to go onvacation. Right, that's it for
(06:38):
fashion news. Let's move on tothe biggest carpet of the year, the
Met Gala. Oh my goodness, and there were some lukes, many many
lukes, so many us. Whatdid you think? First overall, Tiana,
just give me your general impressions.I thought that it was interesting.
(07:00):
I think that the theme was youknow, it was as simple as it
sounded. I think it wasn't thateasy to deliver, because after all,
it all did look like a lotof knockoff chanel Oh so hard, so
hard, not even it's not evenreal knockoff. Um, But there are
(07:25):
a few looks that we're gonna thatyou're gonna like talk to us about and
tell us what you know, whyyou liked them or what was interesting about
them. So let's start with SoraChoy. Well, first of all,
I have I'm not familiar with sorChoy. It was my first time.
She kind of caught my eye.Um, she's a supermo South Korean supermodel
(07:47):
and she wore a Tom Brown ensemblethat for me wins the best dressed um
with this ruffled cape dramatically fell overher gown and a look perfectly channeled um
parlager filled style. And it's it'stasteful. She it's modest, she obviously
(08:13):
doesn't show any skin. Um,but I think the fabric is beautiful.
Um, the work is it justdelivered exactly what this carpet needed. So
it definitely that the drama, thatdrama I think was there. And then
(08:33):
also that very like very cature, very like high couture, like you know,
specificity that you would never have seenthis it's outfit before. Yeah,
I thought it's a beautiful combination yeah. Yeah. So I also thought that
was the hramatic age. And Inoticed the black and white. We get
(08:56):
a lot of the black and white, you know going on here. Um,
let's also talk about um Kim Kardashian. So she When I first saw
her, I thought she looked stunning, and I thought it looked very um,
sexy and seductive. I love thecape. I actually think that is
(09:20):
um my favorite part of the dress. Um. I Then I took a
second look, and I mean,it's a midi dress by Skaparelli and they
um, they made a dress outof pearls with a silky cursette. Um
and and she accessorized with the diamondsand pearls choker. So I thought that
(09:45):
the diamonds and pearls choker was beautiful. Um it channeled her photoshoot for a
Playboy that also had like pearls thatcovered her boosom. So um, I
thought it was an interesting look.Um. I loved it at first,
but the more I look at it, I'm not sure anymore. I feel
(10:09):
like, um, it doesn't lookas couture and high quality as one would
expect. I even saw one pictureafter them at gala where the pearls like
ripped. So yeah, I havenumber one. I know that Kim had
a wardrobe malfunction that happened. Ithink post you know, the carpet.
(10:31):
But so that's that's that's always frightening. You know, if you're in an
outfit and it disper if the dresslooks like it's gonna fall apart any seconds
they actually doing. It's fashion's biggestnight out. It's supposed to be high
high fashion and quality. And Inoticed, like some sceno that it had
(10:54):
to be all together. But yousee, you can see I think when
you look retroactively, you see likethe space the pearls at the bottom,
and you're like, oh was it? You know, how how well did
they put everything on? I dothink the ruffle jacket is lovely and stunning
and the sleeves, you know, with how the ruffles like come together.
(11:16):
I thought that was just really prettyOkay, So Tianna, next, tell
me what you thought about Ashley GrahamUm. She teamed up with the British
designer Harris Read and she drew inspirationfrom Chanela to tour in the eighties,
(11:37):
and they came up with a velvetand satin corset mermaid dress which really wraps
around Ashley's curves perfectly with light pinktones and this structure around her shoulders.
(12:00):
I thought it was very close tome. Um probab girl. The mat
gala is one of the biggest stateYeah, yeah, I did. I
think Old Saint was fitted very wellfor her. I thought that fit was
(12:20):
exquisite. I thought that it.I thought that it looks good. I
thought having them the soft pink colorcontrasting with the black was you know,
gave you that kind of like focusand the also the fabric contrast with the
velvet and satin and uh, itwas unique, you know what I mean?
(12:41):
Like again, like because it's themet Gala, like people are coming
to make a statement. So Idid feel like it had that uniqueness that
we hadn't seen anything else quite likeit. Um for the evening and um
last talk to me about bad Bunny, Oh bad Buddy. I like what
big bad Buddy I was gonna say, Big bad Bunny Bad Bunny brings to
(13:07):
the carpet. I mean, lookat that back, the open back,
so he I think he knows howto rock a suit and bring spiciness to
it. Um, it's custom jacqumussuit and it's all white tweed um,
and it looked very conventional until weknow iticed the open back and a long
(13:33):
floral train. So um, Ithought that the look was perfect and and
I love the monochromatic look so badbunny, uh broad you know, bad
look in a good way, carpet. I really like that element of surprise.
(13:56):
Like you said, if you lookedat it at first, you would
think, oh, you know, that's a nice looking suit. But then
if you looked at the you know, when he turned around or you caught
another glimpse, you could see thatlike back going down, that ruffle.
Let's just so such a such asurprise. Um. Now, I mean
what I like about him is thathe's not um. He doesn't look like
(14:18):
he's trying to channel like a lotof femininity. He still looks like manly.
Yeah. No, I he wasdefinitely owning his fashion. Um.
With all of the black and whitethat I see, you have a met
galat, looks like you were dressingfor the galat today. Yeah, have
(14:39):
to fit the theme. Well,I think that. Um. I really
enjoyed looking at the different looks thatI got to see. UM when I
was looking at the red carpet andeven though I wasn't at the met Galo
this year, I can't wait formy year when I get to show up.
(15:03):
Well for other looks, check outmy article on Fashion reverie dot com.
All right, viewers, I'm introducingSydney Yeager, our associate fashion editor.
It is her debut on Fashion ReverieTalks and she will be talking to
(15:24):
us about her Barbie article for aBarbie Fashion of twenty twenty three. Welcome
Sydney. Hi everyone. So lastsummer was hot Girl summer and this summer
has well it's a summer yet,but it started. Springs started with being
(15:48):
referred to as a Barbie Girl summerto be So what do you think about
it? Obviously wrote a whole articleon this topic. I know, I'm
very excited about it. I thinkwith the new Barbie movie coming out on
July twenty first, it's really interestingto see how not only the fashion industry
has gotten really really excited about it, but the fans of Ryan Gosling,
(16:11):
Margot Robbie, and Greta Gerwig haveall gotten excited about the live action version
of the film as well. Sowe're seeing celebrities wearing a lot of pink,
designers creating a lot of pink items, a lot of people are putting
their hair up in like that Barbiehigh ponytail, and so I think that
at the end of the day,we're going to see a lot of that
come for summer, and we're notnecessarily going to have like all the mini
(16:32):
mini stuff and hot girl summer thatwe saw last year. That's great.
So, do you have a favoriteto look from your fashion round up?
Or I saw Barcelona cut out dress. Yes, that one was a really
good selection for just summer in generalbecause the animal print and the pink tone
(16:56):
made it very playful. It makesit very fun for summer, and it's
also so perfect for like Barbie andin a modern take, and it's just
so easily styled. Yeah, verypretty. I love it. I love
that we were back to like pinkcolors and girls embracing that for men as
(17:18):
well, because you see that withKen's outfits and embracing the color rather than
shunning it or seeing its gender rolesis really amazing. So you also recommended
a Rosart pink enamel hoops? Yes, yeah, I know those ones are
really pretty and it was just soperfect because Hoops, I feel like we're
(17:41):
something that was so quiessential in thetwo thousands, and that was when Barbie
was really popular and a lot ofBarbie looks then, And I feel like
we're starting to see hoops again comeback into style because they never really can
fade. They're just such a classicjewelry piece. So while these are on
the list and they are a littlebit more expensive, I feel like the
pink and the way that they're madein the style is something that just represents
(18:04):
this time period and is a greatjewelry piece to own. Fantastic. So
let's talk about shoes. You recommendedsome great Barbie influenced shoes. I think
there was a Journey collection of thatsandal that he recommended. Why why did
(18:27):
you pick Doze? These ones aren't. This is probably one of my favorite
things on the article because in theten seconds of the film and everyone,
like the Internet went crazy. Ithink it was Chrissy Teagan who tweeted about
it. Everyone freaked out. Inthe first ten seconds of the Trailery c
Margo Robbie take her shoes off andher feet remained like in the Barbie position,
(18:47):
but she was wearing shoes that werevery similar to this, so I
was on the hunt to find onesthat were affordable. These ones, I
believe are sold at DSW and itwas the closest option that I could find.
And then the fact that they havean ankle's doctor makes it so much
better because I feel like everyone's justa little bit clumsy sometimes when they're excited
about things. So if you're wearingcute shoes and you're excited, you don't
want to fall true. True. And last, but not least, you
(19:14):
did not exclude men, so youincluded a puffer shirt. I did so.
This was from Omen Fem and it'sjust kind of style in the movie
was something that needed to be talkedabout as well because it was very interesting
(19:36):
and just trying to find a goodshirt for him. This one just made
perfect sense because it combined like ina feminine, feminine, feminine air to
it, but it still remained masculineclassically with the cut and the style.
It was just the print that wasmore feminine and that just seemed something that
was so perfectly ken like that youwould wear. I would wear it too,
(20:00):
of it it's so cute. UmWell, Sydney thank you so much,
and for rest of your round up, please go and check out Fashion
Reverie article of Sydneys that we havealready posted and we'll see you next time,
Sydney. Thank you so much,Thank you well viewers. That's it
