Speaker 1 (00:01):
Welcome to this week of Filling, a program for education
and celebration of what's happening throughout Filling Homes. I'm Tina Parsons.
As we prepare to say goodbye to Jean as she
embarks on this new adventure of retirement, I want to
share with you a letter I'm sent to us by Glenn,
Pat and Jerry Anne Alexander. Glenn and Pat are the

(00:24):
parents of jerry Anne, who has lived at Filling Homes
Base facility for many years, and they have been able
to develop such a wonderful relationship with Jeane, they write.
Gene Corus is generally recognized for her prominent role in
the fundraising activities for the Filling Homes. The Purses for
a Purpose and the Filling Fall Fling are two of

(00:45):
the most notable events that consumes her energy. Providing enjoyment
for the participants and support resources for the Filling Homes
requires a lot of time and effort. The Purse Fingo
always happens in April. Gene's exceptional fundraising talent finds sponsors
to help pay for the evening's events, food and beverages.

(01:07):
She also finds supporters who donate the beautiful purses that
make up the prizes awarded for the winners during the event.
Gene makes participating as a sponsor or a player so
much fun. How could you not want to help? The
first Saturday in November is always the date for the
Filling Fall Fling. That event is presented by the Women's

(01:29):
Guild of Filling Homes and has been a fund raising
activity for almost two decades. Gene and her team are
active participants in the development and support for the Guild's activity.
The Fling requires energetic support in order to assemble all
the items required for the auctions raffle, bakesale, and lunch

(01:50):
that create such a success found in the four hour program.
Gene Corp's responsibilities as the Director of Mission Advancement go
far beyond the fundraising activities. Gene works hard to see
that the Filling Homes live up to carry Filling Voyne's
vision for providing a loving, homelike atmosphere for individuals with

(02:10):
developmental disabilities. It is as if she substitutes herself for
a resident of the Filling Homes. She takes time to
meet and learn about the resident. She also spends time
with the various employees and volunteers that provide care and
comfort for the residents. From the medical staff, daily care
and training, laundry, food preparation, housekeeping, and general maintenance to

(02:35):
the volunteer workers, Gene acquires a feel for what it
is like to be a resident in the Filling Homes.
Gene also takes time to meet and talk with the parents, guardians,
and loved ones of the many residents. Her approach has
been a major asset for the all over image of
Filling Homes and as reputation as a developmental disability service

(02:57):
provider as of a resident in the Filling Homes.

Speaker 2 (03:02):
We have been the.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Beneficiaries of Carrie Filling Voyane's vision for over fifty three years.
While many things have changed over the last half century,
one thing has not. The vision of creating a homelike
atmosphere has prevailed. Gene Corus has played a key role
in keeping that vision in place. Her approach and demeanor

(03:23):
plainly exude that sense of love and care for the
Filling Homes residence. When we have a chance to meet
with Jeane, we are strug with the feeling that she
personifies the motto on the Filling Homes logo, inspired by
faith driven by hope. That unique gift is a tremendous
asset in understanding the filling home's purpose and capabilities. Gene

(03:46):
Cors leaves gigantic shoes to fill. We thank her for
her many years of dedicated service and wish her a
long and happy retirement. Glenn pat and Jerry Anne Alexander.
Just this morning, I had a chance to catch up
with Gene talk about what she plans on doing in retirement. Gene,
it seems like our energy levels are not matching up today.

(04:08):
I am pumped, I'm energized, I'm excited, and I see
you when you are relaxed, You're chilling. You are talking
with coworkers.

Speaker 3 (04:17):
It's your last official day as the Mission Advancement director
at Philly Coms.

Speaker 4 (04:21):
Let's talk about it. It really is an exciting day.
But I am relaxed. You're right. I'm ready to start
this new chapter and be a little more relaxed. So
I'm starting it right today. You are, What does your
weekend look like? Very chill?

Speaker 2 (04:39):
I am looking forward to having time with family and
not having maybe to schedule work.

Speaker 4 (04:47):
Events or so.

Speaker 2 (04:50):
Yeah, just a very relaxed weekend and hopefully more relaxing
after that too.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
I can't imagine that it's going to be anything less
than that. I did read some comments a letter that
we received from Glenn and Pat Alexander, and they have
nothing but love for you and for what you have
done for Filling Homes and for the residents, especially their
daughter jerry Anne, over the past thirty years.

Speaker 2 (05:17):
I just want to say, it has been an incredible
thirty year journey.

Speaker 4 (05:20):
Met so many, so many wonderful people over these years.

Speaker 2 (05:24):
These are not just professional relationships that I've developed.

Speaker 4 (05:28):
Over the years.

Speaker 2 (05:29):
These are personal relationships that I'm going to carry on
beyond this work at Philly Home.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Absolutely, and I'm going to be one of those.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
I am proud to call myself your egg dealer, and
I hope we can continue that relationship.

Speaker 4 (05:42):
We are going to continue that.

Speaker 3 (05:44):
Geene, I've loved working with you over the past two
years that I've been here. You have been nothing but
helpful to me and have helped me grow as the
public relations coordinator.

Speaker 4 (05:54):
So thank you, thank you.

Speaker 2 (05:56):
I do just want to publicly thank everybody that I've
worked with this Filling Home family.

Speaker 4 (06:02):
It is more than just co workers. We are family
here and our clients.

Speaker 2 (06:07):
I've been blessed to be able to serve them over
these last thirty years.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
In closing on behalf of everybody at Feeling Homes, here
at the Base and throughout all of our programs.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
Thank you for everything, and we wish you the absolute
best in retirement.

Speaker 4 (06:21):
Thank you so much, it's been my pleasure.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Thanks for joining me one last time, Jean, of course,
and to those listening, thanks for tuning in to another
