Speaker 1 (00:02):
Welcome to this week at Filling, a program for education
and celebration of what is happening throughout filling homes.

Speaker 2 (00:08):
I'm Tina Parsons. Good morning, and thank you for tuning
in to this week at Filling. Today, I have a
special guest, Tom Spicer.

Speaker 3 (00:15):
Hi, Tom, Hi there. How are you doing.

Speaker 2 (00:17):
I'm doing great. Thank you so much for joining me. Yeah,
I'm exciting to talk to you. Let's talk about first time.

Speaker 1 (00:23):
How did you come to know about Filling homes Hansen
Aquatic Therapy.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
I think Kim Woods, one of the nurses that my
other therapy kind of recommended it in. After about three
months of waiting for my sister in law to open
her pool up, I decided to come out here.

Speaker 2 (00:44):
He wasn't going to open in April.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Yeah all right, Yeah, I was hurting pretty good in April.

Speaker 1 (00:49):
So so I'm glad to hear that the Henry County Hospital,
the therapy is recommending that from maybe an ongoing therapy
once your physical therapy through the hospital was completed.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Right after they got done with me, I still had
some pain and I could hardly sleep.

Speaker 2 (01:06):
And yeah, you were trying to a way to get
that song.

Speaker 3 (01:09):
Yeah, and then they decided that Kim decided a thing
for me was out here, so well good.

Speaker 2 (01:15):
So how did you come about getting in touch with us?
She gave you the phone number.

Speaker 3 (01:19):
No, I just I just drove out here and parked
out in front and went into the main office and
told her what I wanted, and she said, well, I'll
get Angie. Well, Angie came and we talked a little
bit and got my truck and we drove around to
the pool and she took me in and showed me
all the pool and all the everything with the pool
and how to get in there.

Speaker 2 (01:39):
And everything whistles along with it.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Yeah, and all the stuff that's here to use, like
the floaters and the backboards and everything that to use there.
And so I decided that I'd try it, and I
signed up for a month, and then I felt so good.
After the month, I signed up for a year, So
I'm a year member.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
That's awesome.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
We're so happy that your members have been Thank you
for yours for filling moms in that pool.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
How often do you come to the.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Pool every day? For an hour? I come out here seven,
I'm in the pool usually by seven, and I stay
an hour, which gives me time to do my exercises,
and then I kind of just the last twenty minutes
or so, I just kind of hang. I just tell everybody, Oh,

(02:27):
don't bother me. I'm just hanging her own because that
helps stretch my back and get me loosen it out more.
I guess, right.

Speaker 2 (02:35):
So the stuff that you do in the pool, it's
independent work. You're not necessarily joining any of Angie's classes.
She does offer writers classes and other types of classes.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
But that's one of the possibilities of the pool is
that you can do independent swim you don't have to
be in a specific.

Speaker 3 (02:52):
Yeah, that's kind of what I know. I tease all
the people that when they get ready for their acrobatic
or whatever they call it class and it you know,
but I usually all about the time that starts, I
kind of get out of their way so they.

Speaker 2 (03:07):
Have the whole pool so they can do their thing.

Speaker 3 (03:09):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (03:10):
Do you feel like the access to the pool is easy?

Speaker 3 (03:14):
Oh? Yeah, God, I wouldn't. I mean I get here
at seven o'clock and you open the doors with your
membership card and open the changing area with your membership card,
and it's there's lockers. I mean, you put your stuff
in the locker and close it up.

Speaker 2 (03:31):
And I think we talked about the handrails all around them. Yeah,
what is that a help to you?

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Yeah? I usually like I'll go down in a deeper
end to do my exercises. When I do my leg lists,
you know, I just hold onto that rail and it
just makes it feel better. I mean, I got that
security blanket. I guess you'd call it there. So Yeah,
before I came out here, I couldn't sleep all night

(03:58):
in bed. I had to get up and in an
easy chair with a hating pad, and I doze off
and I wake up and I feel better and I
go back to bed and then I sometimes I would
sleep the rest of the night, and sometimes i'd be
back an easy chair. And since I've come out here,
I think the third time out here, I was able

(04:18):
to lay flat and sleep all night in the bed.
So that's really the main that's what I was after.
I was after being able to.

Speaker 2 (04:29):
Sleep a good night's sleep.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Yeah. Yeah, and the pool really helped me out.

Speaker 4 (04:33):
I mean, i'd recommend anybody with back problems that it
is definitely a different feeling.

Speaker 3 (04:44):
I guess it makes me feel better. It's just a pool.
It's a wonderful place for me. I mean, my luck
with it has been outstanding.

Speaker 2 (04:53):
So that's awesome. I can't thank you enough for joining
any of you listening again. The phone number two.

Speaker 1 (04:58):
Talk with Angelus Dennett, the aquatic coordinator is four one nine.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
Five nine two six four five one.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
She's at extension one three five one and we would
love to help you out answer any of your questions.

Speaker 2 (05:09):

he knows about it. Well, thanks for tuning in and
