Speaker 1 (00:22):
Good evening, everybody. Welcome to another edition of Fire Up Florida. Yes,
and we have to Florida bag behind my co host
Rod Peterson.

Speaker 2 (00:31):
Rod Peterson, welcome back to the Big Showy. Nice to
be on the Big Show. Thanks for having me.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
Oh, it's my pleasure.

Speaker 1 (00:37):
You're a blast, brother, I'm telling you, you are a blast.
So while we celebrate you being on here, we're going
to celebrate the career of the Armor Yager, who's going
to be retiring. And let me go over that Jarmar Yager,
who's fifty two years of age. By the way, we'll
retire from professional hockey at the end of the season,
confirmed by his agent. You're a slav Z deck. He
played for nine NHL teams, including the Florida Panthers, fifth

(01:00):
overall pick in nineteen ninety by the Pittsburgh Penguins. In
twenty seventeen, he was named one of the one hundred
greatest NHL players in history. He played for the Panthers
from twenty fifteen to twenty seventeen. His career seventeen hundred
and thirty three games, seven sixty six goals, eleven fifty
five assists. Nineteen twenty one point pen only minutes eleven

(01:21):
sixty seven. And y'all your yarmur yager, excuse me a
little tongue tied his second is scoring all time with
his nineteen twenty one, behind Wayne Grisky with twenty eight
fifty seven. So and don't forget he only won two
Stanley Cups. Not bad, all right, Rod, some thoughts about
Yarrama yagar.

Speaker 3 (01:42):
You know what?

Speaker 4 (01:43):
Well, Okay, when you brought that up, I'm going to
tell you right now you might get this because you're
just a little older than me, but not much.

Speaker 3 (01:50):
No disappointed ten years older, little No, you don't.

Speaker 2 (01:53):
Need to spoil the surprise for everybody.

Speaker 4 (01:57):
I'm just saying, Yarmia yagers, like I'll month older than
me or something.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
So I want him to keep playing and keep playing
and keep playing.

Speaker 4 (02:04):
You know what I mean, Like you don't want to
see that guy your age retire because you know what
I mean, zero old. All I know is we were
both born in seventy two. And here's another one. If
you jumble up the letters of Yarimir, it spells Mario Junior.

Speaker 2 (02:21):
Did you know that?

Speaker 4 (02:22):
So you know they had a wonderful thing going on
in Pittsburgh One of the two Stanley Cups, as you mentioned,
I don't know.

Speaker 2 (02:29):
I mean, it's not a baseball thing. But like going
into the Hall of Fame, does he go in as
a penguin? Does he go in? I would think that
he does.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
But it's just a myriad of Team Scott that he
played for, one of the all time greats.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
Yeah that is, you know that was loaded there. Now
you've played for nine teams and then you wonder which
one did going all right, well, you gotta say that
will be your best guess.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
I kinda think it's gonna be Pittsburgh.

Speaker 4 (02:56):
I mean that's the team that drafted him, That's the
team that he won two Stanley Cups with. But of
all those records you said, I know you try. I
know you like to catch me on trivia and catch
me sleeping.

Speaker 3 (03:07):
I do.

Speaker 4 (03:09):
I didn't know that he was number two all time
to Gretzky, of all those records.

Speaker 2 (03:13):
I would say, that's like the most impressive to me.

Speaker 3 (03:16):
I don't know about you, loll it was crazy. I'm
not the peyton that with you. I know it is.

Speaker 1 (03:21):
And it's Wayne Grisky when you think of that list
to the Rod Gordy, how fourth on that list, eighteen
hundred and fifty points there. In fact, you know what,
I'm gonna go ahead right now and go over that
list a little bit with you. Okay, you're ready. We
got Wayne Gretzky sitting at twenty eight fifty seven, yarm
Mariager nineteen twenty one.

Speaker 5 (03:37):
Oh.

Speaker 1 (03:37):
By the way, Mark Messier is n Is eighteen eighty seven.
Oh by Gordy Hollens right in eighteen fifty, Ron Francis
seventeen ninety eight, Marcel Dion Okay seventeen seventy one, Steve
Eiserman seventeen fifty five, Marie olemu seventeen twenty three, and
Joe Second sixteen forty one.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
And then you have Sidney Crosby.

Speaker 1 (03:59):
And I guess that to answer the question that we're thinking,
how far will Sydney Croffy climb on the all time
points list? You know, we could save that for another night,
we can talk about it. But yeah, he I was
surprised that he was number two, especially when I look
at all the names Rod Okay in that crew. I mean,
that's a heck of a group. I mean, you know,

(04:19):
if you talk about Messier, who's obviously Messiah can win
a Stanley Cup in New York City, of all places,
and the only one they won since he left forty
all and then I daved back to Marcel Diano when
he didn't want to play in Detroit. In fact, when
he came back, here's a great story for you. Ride
ready for this, okayah, when he came back to Detroit
as a member of the La Kings. The first time

(04:39):
he was there, red Wings fans were throwing stuff at him.
They had to create one of those things where those
little things where you can't get anything thrown out while
he got on the ice. That's how vicious those Red
Wings fans were back at the Olympia Stadium.

Speaker 4 (04:52):
And I didn't know that, but I'm guessing it's because
the Wings were so terrible. Is that why Marcel didn't
want to play there? I'm assuming that's why any team
doesn't want to go.

Speaker 1 (05:03):
Well, there's no question that was very bad period in
Detroit hockey. He just didn't like Detroit. He wanted to
go to the sunshine in La Come.

Speaker 2 (05:11):
On, okay, hey, I get it, trust me, I get it.

Speaker 4 (05:14):
But of all those things, Marcel Dion I think of
as a scorer and the fact that Dave Dion's in
the top ten and did it with terrible teams in
la says a lot Scott, But you know you started
with this with Yagger. I don't really stick with me
think of him as a scorer. I mean I should,

(05:34):
and he's got the offensive flare number two all time.
But I saw him play a lot of times live
where I'm like, I didn't even notice him out there,
and then you go and look at the score.

Speaker 2 (05:42):
Sheet he's got three points. You know what I mean?
He was He never played defensively, nor did Gretzky, Nor
did Gretzky.

Speaker 3 (05:50):
You know.

Speaker 4 (05:52):
That almost looked like he wasn't working that hard, but
I'm sure he was. He didn't last this long without
working hard.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Well, then let me ask you a question. How many
Europeans players you think that don't work hard? They're just
naturally gifted a lot at that point, that's my point.
So yeah, he may not have worked hard, but boy,
he was flashy as you could be. In fact, you
know what, he reminded me of another check player that
played with the Red Wings and the Oilers named Peter Klima.

(06:17):
And I know he passed away recently, but Peter was
a good player, and obviously you know I won't get
into Peter Cleva, but I'm talking. The only reason why
I bring it up Peter Cleveland in the first place
is because you're talking about a tremendous Czechoslovakan player. That's
the only reason why Peter Klema's name comes up. But
you know, I mean, so, you know, so tell me
what do you think. I mean, he played a couple

(06:38):
of years with the Panthers. I don't know how much
you know about that relationship. But what can you tell
me about your armor Yager when he was with the
Florida Panthers, if he can tell me anything at all.

Speaker 4 (06:48):
Yeah, it was twenty fifteen and twenty seventeen. The team
wasn't very good then. It was when the rink was
empty and I went to those games here.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
I know that he was a fan favorite.

Speaker 4 (06:57):
I think he had the number one jersey seller in Pantherland,
to be honest, but in the in the in the pantheon,
pardon the pun of your your career. He's not going
into the Hall of Fame as a Florida Panther. Although
they still talked about him here, not as much as
they talked about Pavl Burrey. But Florida's one of the
nine teams that was not a great era Panthers hockey.

(07:20):
You know, that was in the twelve years that they
missed the playoffs.

Speaker 2 (07:24):
Not good man. That's the people don't like to talk
about that too much around here.

Speaker 1 (07:28):
Well right yet, real you know, one of the reasons
he was brought in here is he put people in
the stands. Guys like they're brought in at that eight
point in their career. You're not going to put butts
in the stands, especially when her team is bad. Would
you agree or disagree?

Speaker 2 (07:43):
Well, they had to do something.

Speaker 3 (07:45):
You know.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
It's interesting because I had had Mike Keenan on my
daytime talk show a couple well last week the one
that you were on with me Mike Keenan, and he
talked about his time coaching the Panthers here, which was
like two thousand and two to two, and he did.

Speaker 3 (08:03):
You have a line before I went on the air
or what happened there was after you?

Speaker 2 (08:07):
It was after you?

Speaker 3 (08:08):
Oh okay, I got yeah, okay, but uh, just you know,
it's just.

Speaker 4 (08:13):
And I had Jeff Rimmer on My Cats and Bolts
podcast yesterday, the original voice of the Panthers, and they
all talked about the bad times around here.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Scott and listen, I get this a lot.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
I've only been here now four years, and you know
what I get from a lot of people.

Speaker 2 (08:27):
You weren't here in the bad times. You only showed
up when.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
Times are good. I'm like, that's not my fault.

Speaker 4 (08:32):
Don't get mad at me, you know, but it's just
everybody wants to dump their bad stories from the Panthers
years Keenan with ownership and how he had promises broken.
Jeff Rimmers were pretty good, but uh Jagger, he was
the star here, but the team missed the playoffs. Not
It's not like they were hanging banners Scott when he

(08:53):
was here.

Speaker 3 (08:54):
Hey, Ron, do me one favor.

Speaker 1 (08:56):
Okay, why don't you go to Mike keenage Wikipedia page
if you could tell me that he went out there
and lasted more than two or three years and it stopped.

Speaker 3 (09:06):
I want you to research it right now.

Speaker 1 (09:09):
Okay, Well, all right, more than three years. I can
guarantee you most of them did last more than a couple.
Nobody wanted to play for the guy. I'm not saying
you with a good coach. But and I'll tell you
he couldn't coach in this area, mark my gut. But seriously,
I'm telling you my co host, my brother, my whatever. Okay,
this guy didn't last longer. Everybody thinks about Billy Martin

(09:32):
not lasting longer. Okay, there you go. I see the picture,
and even with my twenty seventy vision, Now you go
out there and take a look at his stance and
with bios and whatever, and tell me how many places he.

Speaker 3 (09:45):
Lasted more than three years.

Speaker 1 (09:47):
And I guarantee you when you look at it and
you come back to me, you're gonna find not many.
He's a Billy Martin of hockey. I got it right here,
go ahead.

Speaker 4 (09:56):
Four years in Philly in order, four years in Chicago,
one year with the Rangers which they won the Stanley Cup,
Scott right, three in Saint Louis, two in Vancouver, one
in Boston, two in Florida, sorry, three in Florida, two

(10:17):
with the Flames in Calgary, and then he never coached
in the NHL again.

Speaker 1 (10:21):
All right, So yeah, yeah, made my point. The guy
was lucky enough to be able to stay in one
plate four years, one, two, three, four.

Speaker 3 (10:28):
I could count that high.

Speaker 1 (10:30):
Okay, oh know those trades?

Speaker 3 (10:32):
What's the what's the fourth one?

Speaker 1 (10:34):
Of course I think, yeah, that's good enough, all right, whatever,
so you got I mean, it just shows you I'm
not really good at Spanish. The only time I ever
knew anything about Spanish was when I dated a Puerto
Rican girl who used to call me El Stupido. And
that was the only Spanish where I knew outside of
the first three or four numbers.

Speaker 3 (10:49):
That was about it.

Speaker 1 (10:50):
And then huh and then audios that one too. Yeah
that's okay, So all right, he given me what six
words out of space? And it's okay that I actually
knew audios. I tell a lot of people that nowadays,
and I don't like it. But if I like you,
then we don't have to worry about audios. Okay, but
you get my point. The guy never had, never went

(11:11):
ahead and lasted more than four years. Seriously really yeah, yeah,
he's a Billy Martin of hockey.

Speaker 4 (11:18):
I'm not going to argue with you, but I will
say this. He said in the interview that he's ahead
of his time, or he was ahead of his time.

Speaker 2 (11:28):
I didn't have a problem with him.

Speaker 3 (11:29):
Scott I don't know.

Speaker 4 (11:30):
I don't know I can handle prickly personalities. I don't
know what it is about me.

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Well, I've never met him, So what am I going
to say about the guy? Really, I'm not.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
Gonna say, Hey, you know, I to tell you something.
I'm one of those guys that like John Tortorella. Every
time I see him in his press conferences, I think
to myself, if I ever cover this sport again, I'd
like to be Tortorilla. Hey, hey, Johnny, I love your
act I think they're great. If they don't, if they don't,
if they don't participate in the national anthem, get it
rid of them. Tort is all right with me. All
he is is a mind game player with the media.

(12:00):
Most of these guys will actually go out there and
take the bait. So John Tortorello is what I consider
smot yekay, smot okay. Now is that Boston? I don't
care at any rate? So all right, when you ran
Yaramer Yager amongst the all time greats in the NHL,
let's say top ten or where would you put let

(12:22):
me rephrase the question, okay, Ron, where would you put him?
On the Rod Peterson list?

Speaker 4 (12:27):
Of the Yeah, yeah, off the top of my head,
six or seventh.

Speaker 3 (12:35):
Okay, I'm you know, the Mount Rushmore.

Speaker 4 (12:37):
I'll say it again, and I frankly don't care who disagrees.
It's Bobby or Gordon Haw, Wayne Gretzky, and I'm gonna
say Sidney Crosby. You know, the last time you and
I talked about this, which was in August, it got
a lot of people upset, and people love the debate.

Speaker 2 (12:54):
They say, where's Lemieux? Well, we count.

Speaker 4 (12:57):
Cup Scott, Crosby's got three, Lemus got to, Jagger's got to.

Speaker 2 (13:02):
It's good.

Speaker 4 (13:02):
It's better than McDavis gott which is none, but by
virtue of him being number two all time and points,
I got him six or seven.

Speaker 3 (13:10):
You you know what, I'm right there with you. I
won't let me tell you. I can't tell you.

Speaker 1 (13:16):
Many times I've gone out there and asked this question,
where would you rate a guy? And you how would
you find how great he is? Well, that's easy, Rod, Okay,
by how many championships you have. I've always grated championship
ti when it comes to evaluating a player. Okay, do
you want all the darned individual awards you can get bye.
Tell me, I wish I could grate GERALDS. Barkley a

(13:36):
little bit higher than where he's at if he doesn't
have a championship, Dan Marino, for those people in South Florida,
he would get great at higher. But he never won
a championship at all. But yet, But is that unfair
because they did well professionally depending on what they had
around them. But you know, but again, you that's a
great question, Rod, It really really is. I create a
lot of greatness around championship, not only what you do

(13:59):
as an individale, but how much better you make your
team around you, And then not only that, you take
it inside the clubhouse right ron Okay, and then you
go out there and say, you know what, I need
to be the leader on this scene. That's why you
have that thing called to see you know what that
Dan's for captain right?

Speaker 3 (14:15):
Okay? Yeah, all the players have captain. Right.

Speaker 1 (14:18):
You get it if you look at that list of
how many great ones you have on there? Okay, how
many of them were they gone? He see a lot
of them? Oh yeah, So I mean that goes what
I'm saying. But yeah, I just felt like celebrating Armory Yager.
You know, I think the one thing people have to
look at with the Armory Yager is the amount of
games that he played. I mean, seventeen hundred and thirty
three game. Gordi Howe obviously set the bar in terms

(14:42):
of how many games he played, and then he had
other players.

Speaker 3 (14:44):
That I think that went on the beating.

Speaker 1 (14:45):
I'm not going to get into that conversation, ton I,
but you can pay seventeen hundred and thirty three games
of the NHL. You're doing some pretty good work, my friend.
You really really are. All right, well we're.

Speaker 3 (14:54):
Gonna do right now?

Speaker 1 (14:55):
Is Candy's gonna go ahead, give us a station break,
and then we got two more things on to talk about,
and then I know you're getting ready to go back
to Oh Dad, it my home, No, our home in
Native Atlantis.

Speaker 2 (15:07):
I screwed that up on here, but I caught it
this time. All good, okay, Kenny, take it away.

Speaker 5 (15:13):

you read his stuff. This guy knows his stop all right,
Rod Weekly Florida Panthers Update, Flora's yours, Well, thank you
so much.

Speaker 4 (17:56):
The Panthers are home tonight. I was trying to decide
if I was to do this appearance from Americ Bank Arena.
They got the Vancouver Canucks in town, Scott, as you know,
coming off a four game road trip where The Panthers went.

Speaker 2 (18:08):
Two and two this very same night. The Tampa Bay
Lightning are home to the Vegas School to Knights.

Speaker 4 (18:14):
The Lightning are one of the few teams in the
National Hockey League two and zero and unbeaten. Hurricane Milton
reaped havoc on the Lightning schedule last week, so they've
only played two games. I don't know when they're going
to make up their home opener against Carolina, but so
far the Panthers and Lightning have had a good start
to the season.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
Well done.

Speaker 1 (18:34):
Of course, Rod gives you his weekly updates every time
here on Player Oh Florida. Final thing we're going to
talk about tonight, mister Peterson, and this is something I
think you could definitely to that Again, I am wrong.
I know you can relate to. Okay, the CFL playoffs
a Canadian Football league, Yes, okay, a league you're all
too familiar with, right, mister Peterson. Okay, Wolf meet your

(18:57):
team from Alberta from the first I'm in nineteen forty five, No,
Calgary Adverton. How big of a deal is is, mister Peterson?
Where did you unearth that stat?

Speaker 3 (19:11):
Scott?

Speaker 2 (19:11):
I'm dying to know where you found that.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
I have my sources.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
I want to know them.

Speaker 3 (19:17):
I'll text it to you.

Speaker 4 (19:20):
A good reporter never reveals the sources. Of course, man,
you should. First time in seventy years something's happened. You
tell me whether that's a big deal or not.

Speaker 1 (19:34):
I'm trying to make nice about it. That's why I
am putting you on this bucket. You're the Canadian here.
You have the green card. I have a green card too,
a green business card, but not for one you have.

Speaker 2 (19:44):
And I was pretty worried the other day. I thought
I lost it.

Speaker 4 (19:48):
Oh my god, which I found it. I found it
my green card, but I was a little worried. That
makes me a permanent resident of the United States. But dude,
I did not expect that you would bring up the
Canadian in Football League on this show tonight where.

Speaker 2 (20:01):
We're honoring Yarmar, Yager and all the rest.

Speaker 4 (20:03):
But I'll tell you what, there's a lot of CFL
alum congregating here in South Florida. My phone's blowing up.
It's the biggest time of the year in the league.
The stadiums are bursting, and clearly I wet your appetite
with the CFL.

Speaker 2 (20:17):
Scott when I brought it up when you were on
my show. You you knocked.

Speaker 4 (20:22):
My socks off, as you usually do that you would
interview the Canada's all time wins leader Wally Ibuano.

Speaker 1 (20:29):
I did not see that one coming. Well, let me
tell you something, Ron. If I don't keep you on
your toes, brother, and I don't throw a curve balls
at you even though you're a hockey guy, Okay, then.

Speaker 3 (20:40):
How am I going to keep it real? Seriously? Really?
At least you got the two me Okay? You know,
so I'm capable.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
Of anything, especially when I know I got a Canadian
on the other end of a show. Well, I'm gonna
text you this sort, but I believe that in my
old school way that I won't put nothing on there
unless it's true. But no, I'll I'll tell you one
thing you're gonna get to know about me. Man, I'm
gonna tell you right now talking to a fifty one year
old naturally guy, and I'm gonna be sixty two and

(21:09):
you'll be fifty two.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
He says. My bag of tricks has something in trovle
with Canada. It goes far and wive, brother.

Speaker 2 (21:17):
I can tell I'm actually looking I am really looking
forward to taking your book on.

Speaker 4 (21:22):
The plane and reading it on the way home. I
got a couple hour layover in Minneapolis. Lessons from the microphone.
I can't wait. I've started it, as you know. We'll
see if I can get through it on this trip.

Speaker 3 (21:33):
I don't worry about it.

Speaker 1 (21:34):
You're gonna get around to it sooner or later, because
I'm gonna start quizzing you on there when I go
back there anyway. But the bottom line is you gonna
understand just because we do a hockey show doesn't mean
I can't throw a Canadian timate at you.

Speaker 3 (21:45):
Because you've got the green card or whatever.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
You have to come over our way, and you put
me in a position wait till I start going back
on your Rod Peterson show again and have some fun
with those people. I'll tell you I had a lot
of fun with those people. If they're in Canada and
your Instagram account is unbelievable. Some of those people see
some of your collaborating business and they see and I
asked them to follow me, and then they follow me
back that we're because they had already understood that we're

(22:08):
a team.

Speaker 3 (22:09):
Anyways, good people, good people. So you mean to.

Speaker 1 (22:12):
Tell me you never thought in a million years after
I was on your show, okay, that I would ever
come up with a CFILD nugget.

Speaker 3 (22:20):
Ever, come well, serious.

Speaker 2 (22:23):
And it's not exactly hidden.

Speaker 4 (22:25):
A lot of people are talking about the fact that
this is the first time since nineteen forty five the
province of Alberta will not have a team in the
CFL playoffs. That's Calgary nor Edmonton. Let's put it this way.
It's not going over very well there because those are
two very proud football markets. You know, they're known as
hockey markets, but they've had football teams there far longer.

Speaker 3 (22:48):
Scott far answer. So let me ask you a question.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
That's a great point, right, Okay, So Edmonton and Calgary, right, yep,
what market?

Speaker 3 (22:59):
Is it a bigger deal that they're not in.

Speaker 4 (23:03):
Calgary because they have been in the playoffs for the
last eighteen consecutive seasons. Oh really Calgary has so that's
freak ended. So they're they're not dealing with it very well.

Speaker 2 (23:14):
Edmonton's been bad for a long time, they haven't made
the playoffs since before COVID, so this ain't a big
deal there, But in calgary's a big deal. This is
the first time in nineteen years they missed the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (23:25):
Oh kidding, Well, well, you know, let me tell you,
I do follow that league more than most people think.
Edmonton used to be called the Eskimos, right, Yeah. I
remember Hugh Campbell as the coach. I remember Warren Moon
as the quarterback, and they both went to the Houston Oilers.
Shall I keep going?

Speaker 4 (23:43):
No, I trust it. I know all these things. I
worked in the league for twenty years as a play
by play guy. I began covering it in ninety one.
So yeah, it didn't surprise me. You say, you know,
being from Detroit, you're just across the bridge, as they also,
you probably had all the games on television growing up.

Speaker 2 (23:59):
That's what everybody keeps telling me.

Speaker 1 (24:01):
As a matter of fact, you're right. In fact, we
had Channels nine over there. I remember back in the
old days where we had Channel nine. I think it
was She's I'm trying to remember. Hockey Night in Canada
was on there.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
I think it was CBC. Is that what they call it? CBC?

Speaker 1 (24:18):
And you know, I was thinking about you today. You
know what I was thinking about, I said, Rod Peterson, Okay,
remind me of Don Sherry. Okay, and I'm Ron mcclaan.
Hold on, wait me finished, okay, because you know what
I feel like, I'm Ron mcclan and I'm interviewing the
guy that knows a lot about hockey. That's why the
only thing that you differentiate your shelf from John Cherry

(24:38):
you don't have a weird jackets. I mean, this guy
had a wardrobe like I've never seen before. I don't
know whether or not he got it out of the
back of big lots or wherever he got these jackets.
I don't know much about clothes anyways, except the fact
that I need to lose another thirty or forty pounds
in order to fit my old ones. And I'm working
on that now because I've had enough doctors tell me
to go out there and do it anyway. And I

(25:00):
would like to fit in my clothes and I'm thinking
tired of buy it anymore, and it'll help my other
milk'll no problems down him.

Speaker 3 (25:06):
I'm trying to literally do hold that. But but I
thought about you.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
Don Cherry is the one guy I have to admit
I respect so much in hockey because he's he's obviously
one at the highest levels and He's done a remarkable
job with his media career, and he reminds me of
Dick Vitel when you think about Dick Vitel, obviously on
the American side with basketball. So that's the only reason why.
I mean, you know, you trust Leave better than Cherry
and and I'd better wear that outfit than those weird

(25:32):
looking jackets. But that's how he made his identity.

Speaker 2 (25:34):
Just on the other side of this flag. I'm not
sure you noticed when you were here.

Speaker 4 (25:37):
I have a Don Cherry bobblehead Don Cherry and Ron
mcclan bobblehead just on.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
I could grab it, but I don't want to now.

Speaker 1 (25:43):
No, I'm gonna save it when I get there. You
talking about I appreciate. I appreciate the compliment. If it
is a compliment, well, it is a compliment. I don't
make compliments unless I think they are I mean, you know,
there may be loud compliments, but so what then again,
what have you expected anyway?

Speaker 3 (25:57):
To check out me? Really? Seriously, you know what, I
enjoy it? You have to do that right?

Speaker 2 (26:04):
Well, it's interesting. I mean I'm interested to dig in,
dig into your book and how the media business has changed,
because when Don Cherry walked away from Sportsnet because he
had the opportunity to save his job if he'd apologized
for what he said on the air in his last
installment of Coaches Corner, and he said, no thanks, and
he goes, if what they want on this show is
a robot, I can't help you.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
I'm out.

Speaker 1 (26:26):
And you know what, I'm a don sharing fan right there,
because I'll be dark if I'm a cotton picking robot.

Speaker 2 (26:35):
Kind of what they want these days.

Speaker 1 (26:36):
Yeah, the only robot I remember growing up as a kid,
if you ever walked that TV show Lots in Space,
was the robot on Lots in Space that does not compute.

Speaker 3 (26:46):
And then he had doctor Zachary Smith and all those
other people there. I'm not in a robot.

Speaker 1 (26:50):
I tell you, I could work in corporate America that
wanted to, because I don't do what they want me
to do. Okay, but I'm not applying for corporate because
I got my own deal here and I'm enjoying and
read second of it because I can dictate the narrative
about what we do. But no, it is a compliment,
you know, I mean. And that's and as you start
to read it, and you'll understand a lot more about

(27:11):
the nature of the changes that you're and the only
difference with you and them is with us being a
you know, with you being my co host and us
working together and collaborating on the air.

Speaker 3 (27:21):
As well as what we do.

Speaker 1 (27:23):
I get to put it, I get to drill it
in your ear as well as you get to read it.

Speaker 2 (27:26):
So I'll look forward to it.

Speaker 1 (27:29):
Yeah, I'm glad. I'm glad you got a copy. And
I know sooner or later you get around to it.
I'm not worried about that. But now just show I
tell you what I do this thing every Thursday night.
I have a blast. It's thirty minutes to me with
you as an absolute cake walking really add I just
let my guard doing and go crazy. And I got
a guy that can stand there and take it. And

(27:49):
you know what, that's respectful, right. I don't know how
much more respectful I can be than taking it.

Speaker 3 (27:56):
Even though my voice is probably gonna be out.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
My throat will be operated on next year because they
remind me a break plat and they're wearing out.

Speaker 3 (28:02):
But that doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (28:03):
I guarantee if my voice every goes away, there's it
was an ai artificial intelligence.

Speaker 3 (28:08):
I like that they have more than official intelligence.

Speaker 2 (28:10):
We can pretend that it's you talking. Yes, there you go.

Speaker 1 (28:13):
We'll find a way. Whatever I don't say, I'll make
sure you make up for it. Even if it's some
sort of communication, it don't matter. But we're not to
that point yet, people, We're not fire up Florida. We
bring this here every Thursday night, seven thirty Eastern time.
My name is Scott Morgan up Porter City, matt and
Mouth here along with Rod Peterson, the guy that knows

(28:33):
so much about hockey, and of course he's my Canadian
Football League analyst as well. When I need him and
he's not expecting it, saying you know what, I don't
send you topics because if you can't think on your
feet like I can, then you're not meant for this business.
People that I don't have a problem sending topics rot
I really don't.

Speaker 2 (28:51):
But some people just don't need them, you know what
I mean. Because they know the stuff and they know
the industry that they're in that they're able to go
with the flow. And that's really why I treat people
a bit differently. I know better than to even have
asked for the topics, so I didn't even.

Speaker 1 (29:09):
Ask smart man. Yeah, smart man, we keep you on
your feet. It's all good, mister Peterson. Anyways, all right, Rod,
what I want you to do now? Okay from your publisher,
let everybody know how they can find you on which
shows you have, And I am looking forward to returning
to the Rod Peterson Show and maybe one of these
days I'll get over there the.

Speaker 3 (29:28):

Speaker 1 (29:30):
I think I felt a little bit better with my
driving today than I have in a couple of weeks.
So that's the news, hopefully for you. I know you're
wondered about that last Friday when I told you.

Speaker 2 (29:38):
Right, yep, yeah, yeah, Well, I appreciate the opportunity.

I'm extending my voice, I'm having a black b last.

Speaker 2 (31:08):
